- 0:59I want to give a shout out to the one and only PR guy himself
- 1:03Nith the unbelievable Nith in as he always calls himself A.
- 1:08Lot of hot ladies. The ladies man, as we all know,
- 1:12he's always he's in and he likes to.
- 1:15They call me the ladies man. The ladies man.
- 1:18But I, I don't know if he's that.
- 1:20He might be the hairy man. I don't know about the ladies
- 1:22man. We've got a guest and I think it
- 1:26is the guy that I haven't spoken to in a while.
- 1:29He's out there in Alabama. He's Crimson and tidying his own
- 1:33self. The one and only Mark Everett
- 1:36Kelly. What's up, man?
- 1:38What's up, boys? What's going on, man?
- 1:40I haven't heard from you in a while.
- 1:42You OK? Over.
- 1:43There. Yeah, I know.
- 1:43You know, it's high school sports.
- 1:45It's just it'll grab you and keep you for a while, you know?
- 1:49Hopefully they're not smacking you, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:51But. Well, that's another
- 1:55conversation. So what would you like to talk
- 1:57to? Talk about my buddy all.
- 1:59Right. Well, I mean, I, I don't know if
- 2:01you guys knew about like back in December, I, I had, I had gotten
- 2:04sick yeah, yeah, yeah. From the surgery.
- 2:07So they I've been kind of yelling from that, but I'm
- 2:10almost all better now and that that you know, that that
- 2:14produced a couple of hard months, but.
- 2:17Before you finish, I I want to say something.
- 2:20This guy is gone. So if anybody doesn't know Mark
- 2:23Everett Kelly story, this is a guy that's won two Emmy Awards
- 2:27with ESPN. He's been through the wall, he's
- 2:30gone. He has Crohn's disease, he has
- 2:33cancer. He's gotten through everything.
- 2:36He wrote books and he's been up and down.
- 2:39He lived here in New York, He went down to Alabama.
- 2:43You know, he's been through the, the, you know, he's been through
- 2:45the whole, and he's found his way out of it.
- 2:47I, I mean, you know, I love you, man, and I, I respect you.
- 2:51You're one of the guys that you know, has been supportive on
- 2:54everything that I've done and have been, you know, a good
- 2:57friend. No matter if we talk weeks from
- 2:59now or months from now, you always seem to support
- 3:03everything I do and I really appreciate you.
- 3:05So you know I'm always supportive and you ever need
- 3:07help, you know I'm here for you, so.
- 3:10That means a lot. I appreciate that and you know,
- 3:13absolutely same thing back. But you know, I believe in you
- 3:16guys. I've always have, you know, and
- 3:19you guys work hard and you get, you know, so much.
- 3:23I think there's so much you bring to everything you do, so
- 3:25you deserve all the alkalades you get.
- 3:28Thank you. You know I.
- 3:29Appreciate it. And yeah, Speedy's.
- 3:32Speedy's insane. That's what he knows.
- 3:34So Speedy reminds me of me a little bit, you know, and Errol,
- 3:38you're, you're like the the other version of me.
- 3:41I'm a little lost. 1. You know, You know, sometimes I
- 3:44grab one nut and the other one might be popping out.
- 3:47So, you know, if I have two nuts, it definitely works
- 3:49together. So there you go, Nick.
- 3:51Goody's making his face so he knows all about the nuts.
- 3:54All right, Mark, Are you ready to give us how?
- 3:56About the Nets, because I I've watched the Knicks and Celtics.
- 3:58So that's that's a couple, couple games.
- 4:01OK, what did Knicks has done last two two games, being down
- 4:0620 in the third quarter, coming back to win, I mean, but down to
- 4:10the opposite against the Pistons.
- 4:12Like when it comes to your play that needs to win the game.
- 4:15They've done that really well this year.
- 4:19And you can almost sense like you expect them to win.
- 4:22You know, I expected them to win in Boston first two games, even
- 4:25though they've lost, what, 4 to 5, seven this year?
- 4:28They've really impressed me with what they've been able to do.
- 4:32But you know, Barclay said something last night after the
- 4:34game and he's right. I don't know if you remember,
- 4:37I'm sure you guys do. But there are a couple of
- 4:40instances where Barclay was on teams that lost the first two
- 4:43games at home, and one of them was when he was the number one
- 4:46seed with the Suns and they lost to the Lakers.
- 4:50This is post Magic Johnson when Magic was kind of dealing with
- 4:53his HIV thing and the Lakers, as in AC beat them in the first
- 4:57three games in Phoenix in the best of five.
- 5:00And then, you know, going back to LA, you figure, OK, they can
- 5:04get one game. But it's like he said, if the
- 5:09Knicks don't win game three, it could be a little bit harder.
- 5:12Then the pressure will be beyond them.
- 5:15But I think they they they've kind of I think they're ready to
- 5:19do that this year. Now, I don't know if they can
- 5:21get by the Pacers because they've always had a problem
- 5:24with them and, and Halliburton to me is playing probably the
- 5:27best of anybody in the league. But I I think that'll be the
- 5:34Celtics. I think that went, I think that
- 5:35went on Saturday because the Garden is insane.
- 5:38Like playing basketball at the Garden is so beyond anything
- 5:42that I can't compare to anything.
- 5:44I've been to playoff games there.
- 5:45I was at Game 5, but you know, with Jordan when Charles Smith
- 5:48missed those shots and it was like going home.
- 5:51I don't know, Especially it was like someone died and the the
- 5:56people there I think are ready for something like this.
- 5:58It's been a long time since the Knicks have been in this
- 6:02position where they were kind of almost his favorite to go to the
- 6:06Finals and remember they ever won a championship in my
- 6:08lifetime. So these people are really
- 6:10hungry. I will say this, if you're a
- 6:14Knick fan, you should be very excited because I think that the
- 6:17depth that the Knicks have, thank you to Leon Rose for all
- 6:20the Knick fans that were so upset when they added him as the
- 6:23GM. He has really put a mix of wing
- 6:26players and defensive players that the Knicks have not had
- 6:30ever. I mean, even in the 90s with the
- 6:32players that they had, they had big guys, power forwards like
- 6:37Charles Oakley and Charles Smith and you know, Mason, those guys
- 6:42and and obviously Patrick Ewing. This is a different team.
- 6:45I think that they have they've put these guys together and
- 6:48they've done the right thing when it comes to development
- 6:52with some of the young players. And hopefully we get to chance
- 6:56to see this team actually get to the promised land and that's
- 6:59playing an NBA championship and and see if they can get over the
- 7:02hump. You're right.
- 7:03I have not been alive to see them win a championship.
- 7:06It's it's since what was the last time they won a Champions
- 7:0873? Yeah.
- 7:10It's been a long, long time and a long wait.
- 7:13And why not? If there's anybody that can
- 7:15bring a championship home to the New York Knicks, it's Jalen
- 7:18Brunson. And if he does that, they're
- 7:19going to build a statue of Jalen Brunson because he's done the
- 7:23one thing that every New York fan wants to see, and that's a
- 7:26championship from the New York Knicks.
- 7:28And like you were saying many times are all like a Knicks
- 7:30championship, bigger for New York than any other champions,
- 7:33100%. Yeah, and I've never seen a
- 7:36player like Bronson on the Knicks.
- 7:37I mean, a guy that was that clutch at his size be able to
- 7:41dominate a game. You know, Alan Houston had his
- 7:45best. I remember in game six against
- 7:47the Pacers in 99 that eliminated them.
- 7:49You know, when the Knicks made it as an AC, you know Houston
- 7:53was awesome in the fourth quarter, scored like maybe 16
- 7:55points. No matter who they put on or
- 7:57whether it was and Rose or Travis Best or whatever they put
- 8:01on Houston, he just was able to score on him.
- 8:04Latrelle Sprewell was clutch. I think he was clutch when the
- 8:08Knicks brought him in. I right.
- 8:10I mean, he had a couple good, yeah, a couple good Four
- 8:13Seasons, but but he was two. He was 66665, you know.
- 8:17Yeah, but Brunton just you know, when he missed that shot at the
- 8:21end of regulation in game one, right?
- 8:24He was shot. I was like, what?
- 8:25Like he makes that shot so much. He's he's really, I mean, of all
- 8:31the Nick players I've seen, this guy's the most clutch of
- 8:34anybody. You know, Ewing was, you know, I
- 8:37mean, let's be honest, Ewing wasn't that clutch, you know,
- 8:41with his ability to miss free throws.
- 8:43And I mean, he had a couple shots, don't get me wrong, but I
- 8:46think everyone will remember that Miss layup against Indiana
- 8:50in Game 7 is kind of like, and it's kind of unfair because
- 8:53Ewing was really good. You know, I mean, now that he
- 8:57wasn't there, I mean, Nick fans really took him for granted when
- 9:00they had those 20 years in exile, you know, after Van Gogh,
- 9:03he left. It's I mean, it's fun to kind of
- 9:05watch them play. And I mean, like Madison Square
- 9:08Garden is a special place. It really is.
- 9:12Katie Smith said, like there's only one Garden.
- 9:14And I know the Boston Garden, but you know, Madison Square
- 9:18Garden in playoff time. I mean, those people love
- 9:20lunatics. And, you know, being a New
- 9:24Yorker and living down here and, you know, down here, here's a
- 9:27different general down here, you get generations of people that
- 9:30have lived here going back to the Civil War and beyond that.
- 9:34OK, So it's kind of hard. They never really accept you
- 9:37down here when you're annoying, you know, you mean, they're like
- 9:40you, whatever. But you never become one of the
- 9:44people down here. You know, I probably never will.
- 9:46But, you know, being from New York and being home, like
- 9:52that'll always be my home. And, you know, at times like
- 9:56that when you know, last year with the Mets or, you know, this
- 9:59year with the Knicks and watching it and being able to go
- 10:02and talk about my routines and things that I've done or what
- 10:05New Yorkers really like, 'cause they, you know, they get such a
- 10:08bad rap. And New Yorkers are so kind and
- 10:13considerate when there's something that really breaks.
- 10:16You want a New Yorker that because he knows what to do,
- 10:19he's street smart, he's not going to be fooled.
- 10:22He's going to do the things that need to be done.
- 10:24And you know, it just makes me appreciate where I come from a
- 10:28lot more. Well, I want to tell you
- 10:31something. I, I, I know we have to go
- 10:33because we got a lot more to go and we have a little bit of
- 10:36time. But you're absolutely right.
- 10:38I think the Knicks are what they're doing right now is
- 10:40pretty special and hopefully they can get it done, beat the
- 10:43Celtics. That would be such a great
- 10:45smile. That would put a smile on every
- 10:47Knick fan's face. And by the way, when the Knicks
- 10:49win a game, the fans outside the stadium, did you hear that after
- 10:54the Boston game that the Knick fans would not leave security?
- 10:58It's very Knick like for them to do that, brothers.
- 11:02Are at game. 1. It's so funny.
- 11:05The only fans probably more reckless is Jets fans, but
- 11:07that's because they're just totally desperate.
- 11:09Yeah, well, well, let's not talk about The Jets.
- 11:11Please don't stop. But.
- 11:12Here's what I'll only give you one one quick note on the go
- 11:15ahead. OK, go ahead.
- 11:16So the nice pitching staff. All right, so you've been really
- 11:18good. So they've only allowed I
- 11:21believe it's 108 or runs through 38 games, which is the 4th best
- 11:25in team history. You know, the 68 team, which
- 11:28really wasn't very good, but then again, nobody scored runs
- 11:31in 1968, the 89 team, and I think he has a 71 team that only
- 11:36allowed fewer runs. So it's kind of historic what
- 11:39their pitching staff is doing and nobody really expected these
- 11:43guys to do that. Well, if they can keep that up
- 11:46because you know they're hitting him, especially Alonzo.
- 11:48You look at Alonzo and Judge, two players that are over 1000
- 11:52OPS and it's same line RBIs. So nobody expects Lonzo to do
- 11:58that. And the line is there's really
- 12:00not many weak spots. And you guys like got guys like
- 12:03Mauricio and minor leagues, right, that are, you know, gonna
- 12:07come up later in the year. So I think they'd meet a lot of
- 12:10really good moods for the first time.
- 12:11As a Mets fan, I feel like they're on the right track.
- 12:15Stability. Yeah.
- 12:15All right, let's let's just let's hold on.
- 12:18Let's wait a little while. We'll see how this season ends
- 12:20because we all know about the Mets and The Jets and the
- 12:24Islanders, but we got to go. We got to go.
- 12:26Bro, you can't put the Mets in. Jets.
- 12:31Now. Let's not get into it.
- 12:33We'll get into that in just a few moments.
- 12:34Listen to the show. I know you're going to like my
- 12:36Islander take. Keep listening, buddy.
- 12:39We love you, man. Keep up the good work.
- 12:40I, we got to come down there and we got to give little Alabama
- 12:44Crimson Tide a little little New York, little filling, little
- 12:49filling. We'll give them a little
- 12:50Nebraska filling too. Little cluster over there,
- 12:55little little juices. If Speedy knows how to squirt
- 12:58it. Anyways, thank you, Mark.
- 13:00We, we love you, man. Keep listening to the show buddy
- 13:04Mark Evert Kelly. He's a friend of the show.
- 13:06He is sensational. He's such a good guy, kind soul
- 13:10and a person that I've always when he came to me and he asked
- 13:13me to to join and and work with me.
- 13:16Somebody I always looked up to. You know, he's a guy that's been
- 13:18supportive on the work that I do and he's he always tells me
- 13:22that, you know, you're special, you're great and you keep up the
- 13:24good work things special is going to happen to you.
- 13:27And he's been with the best. He's worked with the best.
- 13:29So he knows and and I, I take that guy has gone through the
- 13:33I'm not going to say it, but he's been through hell and back
- 13:37again and it's amazing that he's still doing it.
- 13:39I am. So I love the guy.
- 13:42So I I just want him to know that I don't want to cry, man.
- 13:45I don't cry, but he's a he's a good dude, man.
- 13:47I feel so bad for him. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 13:50as we do this now every single week, we call this King of the
- 13:54Hill, the King of the Hill. This, Bobby, is the Beltline.
- 13:59You never ever hit below that. Not that kind of King of the
- 14:02Hill, you dumb. Are you ready?
- 14:05This is King of the Hill. OK.
- 14:10Guys, where's the good one? Where's he?
- 14:12Of the hill everyone come in Nathan, get your butt in here as
- 14:16well. You can play in this.
- 14:19This is king of the hill. So the way this works, you have
- 14:23categories, you have no idea, you just got a rapid fire.
- 14:25Give your best answers. The king has appointed me, his
- 14:29court jester to to give out these and he will rule on who is
- 14:34moving on to the next round. So the first round is a peasant
- 14:37fight, everybody for themselves. The two best competitors from
- 14:42this round will move on to the joust, where they will joust it
- 14:46out for a chance to take on the king in round three.
- 14:51Are you guys ready to play king of the hill when you come at the
- 14:54king? That's not miss, that's from the
- 14:59wire. Omar.
- 15:02All right, so here's round one. We are going to get into the
- 15:07format. So here it is coming up right
- 15:09here. Greatest New York baseball
- 15:12unsung heroes in the last 40 years.
- 15:16So for example, Derek Jeter would be a regular hero, not an
- 15:21unsung hero. So, unsung heroes, let's go to
- 15:26this one right here. I'll be up top.
- 15:28We'll go left to right across the screen.
- 15:31Name one. Tell me why within 30 seconds.
- 15:34Then the next person goes, Jabba, you're muted.
- 15:40Give me a New York Yankee or Met Unsung hero in the last 40
- 15:44years. Me.
- 15:46I was hoping you would start with why.
- 15:48Why Jabba? Well, because their bullpen was
- 15:51trash. I set an all time record of
- 15:53getting to the big leagues the fastest of the New York Yankee.
- 15:57The longest ever tenured start to a New York Yankee.
- 15:59To never give up a run and pitch to a .3 and got us and saved us
- 16:04and got us to the playoffs. Nathan, you're competing,
- 16:08Nathan. That supports everybody.
- 16:15So everyone knows, obviously the 2015 Mets run, Daniel Murphy was
- 16:18the big hitter. But I'm going to go with Juan,
- 16:20your eBay. Juan, your eBay veteran treated
- 16:22position. He was a big spark in the
- 16:24second-half of that season and also during that Dodger series
- 16:27as well, with a lot of clutch hits and great defense as well.
- 16:30An awesome leadership for a guy. I think it was 35 or 36 at the
- 16:33time. Water eBay.
- 16:35Huge ranch. Huge goody.
- 16:40I'm going to go with Robinson Canal, their their their Judas
- 16:45counterpart, sweet swing, play the defense and play that played
- 16:49that out of his own style of play at second base with like
- 16:54butter, apparently a good teammate.
- 16:57That's what I got. Nathan.
- 17:00Yeah, I'm going to go Alex Rodriguez.
- 17:02You lose. He's not an unsung hero, OK?
- 17:05Nathan, you have dirt on your face.
- 17:10I'll I'll go with Jimmy Labra. It's 1990.
- 17:14That's my guy and. Run off of Mark Wallers brings
- 17:17the Yankees back in that series and they eventually win, setting
- 17:22off that dynasty. Jabba next one.
- 17:25Give me one more. We're going to go 3 Jabba.
- 17:28Oh, I thought I was already going to win automatically.
- 17:36Damacio Marte. Oh it comes from the Pirates
- 17:41little low three quarter arm slot who probably should have
- 17:44won the MVP in 2009. Didn't give up a run in the
- 17:48World Series, punched out Ryan Howard like 9 times and Chase
- 17:52Utley didn't get a hit. He actually came in when because
- 17:55Chase Utley was killing us and I don't know if he even gave up it
- 17:59either, but I know he didn't give up a run.
- 18:01He was. He was definitely arsenic hero
- 18:03in 09 in the playoffs. Speedy.
- 18:05All right, I'll go with the O 6 Mets this time.
- 18:07We'll go. Have to go with Andy Chavez.
- 18:09One of the greatest catches in playoff history for sure,
- 18:11getting the double play in that, and he actually hit well in that
- 18:14in that series against the Saint Louis Cardinals.
- 18:15A great pitching staff at the time with Chris Carpenter and
- 18:18obviously Wainwright at the closer at that time, but Andy
- 18:21Chavez got to give him some love.
- 18:22Here goody. Aaron Boone Homer against the
- 18:27Red Sox. That's a good one.
- 18:30That's a good one. All right, I'm going.
- 18:32To I'm going to say Jerry Harrison, Junior.
- 18:36Oh. Who helped the Yankees win the
- 18:39World Series in O 9 too? OK, I I will go with Luis Soho
- 18:48with a huge clutch triple take helping the Yankees again in one
- 18:54of their majestic runs to the World Series.
- 18:57Last one, Jabba. I'm going to go off the beaten
- 19:01path. I'm going to go Kevin Long, our
- 19:02hitting coach. We led the league in hitting,
- 19:05wrote a book, still in the league and considered one of the
- 19:08best hitting coaches still to this day with Rob Thompson and
- 19:12literally just one of the best that there is.
- 19:15And we led the league, I think through four out of the five
- 19:19years that he was, he was the hitting coach and he brought
- 19:21some guys in that shouldn't have done what they did and, and he
- 19:24was, he was phenomenal. Speedy.
- 19:26All right, last one for the 2015 Mets.
- 19:28So the other infielder on the other side of your rebate, Kelly
- 19:30Johnson, another one that was a big spark for us, a guy that was
- 19:33a journeyman, he played like 7 different teams.
- 19:35And another one that was another not as good defensively as your
- 19:38eBay was, but another guy is a lefty that brought some hits as
- 19:41well. Goody.
- 19:45Man, I don't know how I don't know You know, master Hero
- 19:50Tanaka is pretty I mean he is a he's a he's a star, but he
- 19:56wasn't ACC Sabathia type star, but he's a star.
- 20:01I mean he locked down the he locked down the rotation there
- 20:04for quite a long time put up some good numbers.
- 20:06I know he's a giant. You know, Binam in Japan.
- 20:09So I you know, it's probably not the best answer, but the same
- 20:13time like CC on that staff. So I'm going to go with Tanakh.
- 20:18Nothing. Let's.
- 20:21See here. 40 years you don't have.
- 20:25You can go farther back, OK? There's literally like 1000.
- 20:35Who's not unsung here? I got all the hot ladies.
- 20:37I don't. Know damn I'm going a blank.
- 20:43Wally Bachman. Who got the hottest ladies?
- 20:46That's yours. Wally Bachman.
- 20:49How about? How about I'm going to say, I'm
- 20:55going to say Terry, Colin all. Right.
- 20:59OK, why? The underrated manager won a lot
- 21:04of games for the Mets as a manager.
- 21:07Players love him. He brought he brought intensity
- 21:11to the game when he was arguing with the managers and also a
- 21:16legend, a legend in the game. So.
- 21:19There you go. That was probably your best take
- 21:21ever on any show. OK, just so you know.
- 21:26I'll finish this one off and I will go with someone who we all
- 21:32gave a lot of credit to, but on the international and national
- 21:35stage, Andy Pettitte's not a Hall of Famer.
- 21:38Andy Pettitte, one of the most important playoff pitchers in
- 21:42Yankees history. We got it done.
- 21:44A mentor to one job or Chamberlain on our show we have
- 21:49we got a tattoo right there of him.
- 21:51The guy had the best pick off move in baseball, maybe in
- 21:55baseball history. The guy was awesome.
- 21:58He was automatic and he was going to give you depth in every
- 22:01game that he played. Hey, Sleeper El Duque.
- 22:06El Duque. You want to use El Duque.
- 22:08That might save you. Yeah, I know.
- 22:12Duque. Because any Lal Duque, you ask
- 22:15any Yankees, any Yankees player at that time, no matter who it
- 22:19was, who they wanted on the line with who they wanted on the
- 22:21mountain, when the game on the line, it was L Duque.
- 22:24Ask them all. All right, Errol, you get to now
- 22:27pick who are the two finalists that will joust it out for a
- 22:31chance to take on the king. So fish, I, I, I love you and I
- 22:35love your takes and I love everything.
- 22:37But you already knew what was going on.
- 22:39So I I can't put you there because you're you're hosting
- 22:42it. That's fair.
- 22:43It's easier for me to host. Yes, Speedy, your takes were
- 22:46great. But you know, there was a couple
- 22:49of players that, you know, I had to dig deep to remember some of
- 22:52the things that they did. The Al Duque thing really fit as
- 22:56far as I'm concerned, not goody. And that's what helped you you,
- 22:59you, you move Tanaka and edit all Duke.
- 23:02All Duke is is to me, one of the greatest pitchers for the
- 23:06Yankees, especially what he's did.
- 23:07He's done in the playoffs. I think his record, his career
- 23:10record, I think he was like 8 and one or something, a nine and
- 23:13one. It's like ridiculous.
- 23:14His numbers. It's sensational.
- 23:16And and I'm going to go with Jabba obviously, because you
- 23:19know, even though Jabba could be a pain in the ass, I I loved him
- 23:22as a player. So I'll go, I'll go with Jabba.
- 23:26My sleeper. My sleeper was David Justice in
- 23:31that 2000. We got traded for Jake Westbrook
- 23:33and like 80 games and hit like 20 homers and 300.
- 23:38Be good of Speaking of Andy Pett.
- 23:41I want to. I know his agent, Andy
- 23:43Pettitte's agent now. Yeah.
- 23:45All right, get him on the show Next round, everybody right
- 23:50here. We're going to get Goodie over
- 23:57here versus Java. I'm going to go up speedy.
- 23:59We're going to put you down over here.
- 24:01And. The next captured by the.
- 24:06The joust and the question is best curveballs of all time.
- 24:14I want you guys to go back and forth.
- 24:16We're going to go five guys on this round. 05 best.
- 24:20Ready. Curves of all time.
- 24:23I think you guys will appreciate this topic.
- 24:25Give you ready to gather goody goody have.
- 24:27A good. Turbo are we, are we explaining
- 24:29or no? You could just you can give like
- 24:33a very quick, you know why you mentioned the guy, You don't
- 24:37have to get in goody detail stuff.
- 24:39All right, ready. Goody you can start it up.
- 24:42Barry Zito nastiest curveball ever.
- 24:45It doesn't even matter it Barry Zito left-handed pitcher.
- 24:50Come on. Just watch the video, watch the
- 24:52tape, watch the tape. I'm going to go Sandy Koufax.
- 24:59Safe pick Sandy Koufax may be the best ever before it got hurt
- 25:03Clayton. Kershaw.
- 25:05Another one. Nasty, disgusting left-handed
- 25:10Hall of Famer. Next.
- 25:11Next. Speedy, this for you, Dwight
- 25:13Gooden. Yeah, it's my guy right there.
- 25:16Dog Gooden, let's go. What did Doc call his curveball?
- 25:19He had a nickname for it, didn't he?
- 25:22Speedy, you should know this one.
- 25:23This would be good tic Tac, no question.
- 25:26Don't tell, don't tell. Oh wait.
- 25:28He'll get a new theme for pitch names.
- 25:34Are we waiting on Speedy? No, it's the name of it.
- 25:38I don't know. Uncle Charles.
- 25:41Lord Charles. Lord Charles.
- 25:45Lord Charles. Not Uncle Charlie.
- 25:48Lord. Charles Bert Blyleven Blyleven
- 25:52Twins getting a. Little.
- 25:55Old. That's a good one.
- 25:57Nasty. I used to have a shirt his.
- 25:59That was when I played in Mankato and and Summer Ball.
- 26:04That's all I had to talk about. Old Burt Ball.
- 26:06I live in curveball. I'm like, I wasn't alive in the
- 26:0970s, like, but then I watched it and I'm like, all right, dude,
- 26:13he's got some shit. So I was like all.
- 26:16Right, Java. I'm going to switch gears.
- 26:19He was known as as the the Nolan Ryan Express, but his curveball
- 26:24was disgusting and he threw it. He threw it harder than anybody
- 26:27before this spin rate RPM garbage.
- 26:31Throwing like in what? Like in 8889 it was, Yeah, it
- 26:34was something like that. Yeah.
- 26:37OK, that's good. I think let's get let's just do
- 26:39one more each, one more each. Last one for me is going to be
- 26:42Cody Allen. Watch this.
- 26:44Watch this 2016 World Series run with Cleveland.
- 26:48Watch the swings and misses that he was getting on.
- 26:50His curveball ball was bouncing 55 feet before and guys were
- 26:54taking full G hacks on nasty spike heater.
- 26:59Also, you know what sleeper pick Dell and Betanzas but was it was
- 27:03a nasty one. You guys.
- 27:06Jabba, I'm actually going to go somebody that they said that
- 27:09kind of was the innovator of the curveball and Warren Spahn.
- 27:15The OG, you know the only other name that.
- 27:18I was going to go Satchel Paige too, but.
- 27:20Yeah, so you could have gone Satchel Paige.
- 27:23Who even knows what he was throwing or what was on the
- 27:25ball. I just throwing, but it didn't
- 27:26matter back then. Mets fans may remember Adam
- 27:30Wainwright's curveball a little bit too far.
- 27:32Well, when somebody when when Speedy said Uncle Charlie, I was
- 27:36like, God, Adam Wainwright, duh. How about how about how about
- 27:40Charlie Morgan? Charlie Morton, Yeah, he's got a
- 27:43good one. He's got a sweeper.
- 27:45It's yeah, it's, it's flatter than a little.
- 27:48Different. All right, Errol, that's, that's
- 27:51the round. You heard their takes on the
- 27:54Lord Charles and Uncle Charlie's of baseball history.
- 27:59Who do you think moves on? To Tim Lintz, another one, yes.
- 28:03Oh, I'll tell you what I'm going to.
- 28:04I'm going to let, I'm going to let you and Speedy pick, OK?
- 28:08I'm I'm fine. Me and Speedy.
- 28:09You and Speedy make their decision of who should move on.
- 28:13Speedy, I default to you. You make the choice.
- 28:16All right. I like, I like the history that
- 28:18Java was bringing with a lot of the the past like innovator of
- 28:23the curveball, the past like history of the evolution of the
- 28:26pitch too. So I'm going to give him a
- 28:28slight edge. All right, so it's going to be
- 28:31Jabba and Errol. Now do.
- 28:34We even have to finish. He's going to win.
- 28:36It's time to take on the king. Usually the king stayed a king,
- 28:41but we'll see what happens now. In this round, the greatest
- 28:45teams in baseball history with the year.
- 28:49So I'm not the greatest single season teams.
- 28:54Now I'm going to want three from each of you and we're just going
- 28:57to go through the greatest teams of all time and give me a reason
- 29:03why I'll get you guys get set up and come up with three.
- 29:06I want the year, right. So you can't just say the
- 29:09Yankees, although it's the correct answer in this one.
- 29:12You will have to add a year. So here we go.
- 29:16Let's get the next set up on here.
- 29:18We'll put Errol up there. So now the four of us will get
- 29:22to vote. Really, it's the three of us,
- 29:25Nathan. You'll be the tiebreaker, all
- 29:27right. If it actually no.
- 29:29If there's a tie, Nathan's vote doesn't count.
- 29:33Really fish, Really fish. No, I'm kidding man.
- 29:35We'll just vote. Make different the play.
- 29:38Ever as the best performance becomes or stays.
- 29:44Let's. Start off with your competitor
- 29:45Jabba. Well, I mean, I'm going to have
- 29:49to start with the 2009 Yankees opening a new stadium, creating
- 29:55an absolute legacy that the old stadium had built.
- 29:59We moved into a new one, start off slow April we end up having
- 30:0313 walk off hits and go on to win the World Series for the
- 30:08first time in a long time and just established our name in the
- 30:12history of that stadium forever as opening up and winning.
- 30:17Errol. I'm gonna go with the 1939 New
- 30:20York Yankees. I mean, Joe Di Maggio, Babe
- 30:23Ruth, I mean the talent that they had on that roster.
- 30:26I mean, if you look at their record, I mean, they were pretty
- 30:29not only they had a great roster when it comes to that pitching
- 30:32stamp, that pitching staff was great.
- 30:33Their lineup was murderer's row. I mean, Joe Demager, one of the
- 30:36greatest hitters of all time, I mean, considered one of the best
- 30:39outfielders of all time. And then Babe Ruth to me, the
- 30:42greatest baseball player of all time.
- 30:43Just the talent from up and down from the roster.
- 30:46And really it started the the the championship Rd. of the New
- 30:51York Yankees. So I'm going to go in the 1939
- 30:53New York Yankees. All right, back to Java,
- 30:57although I have to mention Babe Ruth was dead, was retired in
- 31:011935. So he was not on that team.
- 31:04That was the Bill Dickey. Well, I'm sorry, Joe DiMaggio.
- 31:07Well, I'm sorry. Joe DiMaggio, Joe Gordon and
- 31:10Bill Dickey. I'm sorry.
- 31:11There you go. I apologize.
- 31:13I would. That's the other team.
- 31:15So there's like I kind of got off on it.
- 31:18There's there's one other, the other team is the Babe Ruth
- 31:22team. But guys, let's.
- 31:22Move back to Java for a second. Java.
- 31:25I'm going to go it's it's not the sexiest pick because they
- 31:28didn't win, but I'm going to go most wins all time.
- 31:30The 2001 Seattle Mariners with that was the rookie debut of
- 31:34Ichiro set the hits record. And I mean, he was 10 at bats in
- 31:38and never hit 300 below that in the rest of his career.
- 31:42Granted, they didn't win, but they had, you know, all those
- 31:46guys that they brought in and, and Brett Boone being a huge
- 31:49part of that, Dan Wilson, yet Jay Buhner, you had all those
- 31:53guys and just to get 116 wins in a season, that win, but that in
- 31:58the regular season. And you know, 3 Hall of Famers
- 32:00that's on their team, including designated hitter and Edgar
- 32:03Martinez has a damn highway named after himself.
- 32:07Yeah, they didn't win it, but that's the greatest regular
- 32:09season team that that we've seen.
- 32:13All right, so I I kind of flip-flopped it the 1927 New
- 32:17York Yankees Babe Ruth 356 sixty home runs, 165 RB is Lou Gehrig
- 32:25batted 373 with 47 home runs and 173 RB is they were 110 and 44
- 32:33franchise record 714 winning percentage.
- 32:36I mean, this is as good as any Yankee team.
- 32:38That's that's I kind of messed up with the 1939.
- 32:41So I, I have this, honestly, this is the greatest team of all
- 32:45time. And then, then it was the 1939
- 32:48New York Yankees. So I either, or you could flip
- 32:50flop it. I, I mean, both teams were
- 32:52great. This Yankee team was sensational
- 32:55and really it, it just four-game sweep Pittsburgh Pirates in the
- 32:59World Series. I mean, you can't get to any
- 33:02better than that. Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth.
- 33:04You know, the Iron Horse and Mr. Baby Ruth, a home run slugging
- 33:10machine. So there.
- 33:12You go. That was the sixty home run year
- 33:13I believe. Yes, it was, yes.
- 33:15It was all right. Last ones, guys, Jabba.
- 33:18I'm going to go the 76 Reds, you, you look at that lineup,
- 33:22they won 102 games. They have Pete Rose, Ken
- 33:24Griffey, senior Joe Morgan, Johnny Bench, Tony Perez, just
- 33:28for for the Big Red Machine. And then what they had, I think
- 33:33it was like the new era of kind of the game and and very
- 33:37underrated Dave Concepcion, which I unbelievable.
- 33:41They had a team ERA of three. It was just it was a fun team to
- 33:46watch. They got after it and my dad was
- 33:49a low key like Reds fan. So I was able to to get to know
- 33:53those guys a little bit. They went seven know and won the
- 33:55World Series that year. So it's a it's a different take,
- 33:59but you know, they have 6 hall of farmers.
- 34:02Very interesting, very interesting.
- 34:04You give credit the 1998 New York Yankees, 114 and 48,
- 34:10probably one of the greatest runs we've ever seen a Yankee
- 34:12team have. I mean, look at the roster.
- 34:14There's no lie to that. Derek Jeter, Paul O'Neill, Scott
- 34:18Brosius, Bernie Williams, David Wells, David Cone, El Duque.
- 34:22You just mentioned it right over at Tino Martinez.
- 34:26I mean, this roster was stacked. Jorge Posada, Mariano Rivera,
- 34:29low to All Stars. Yes, Chuck Knobluck was on this
- 34:31team and it could, wouldn't throw to first base.
- 34:33Who cares? This is one of the greatest
- 34:36rosters of all time. Great rotation.
- 34:38I mean, you can't. There's nothing bad about this
- 34:41rotation. When you look at Orlando
- 34:43Hernandez, Andy Pettit, David Wells, David Cohen, even our
- 34:46friend Jeff Nelson was a part of this wonderful rotation.
- 34:51I mean, there's nothing bad to say about this team.
- 34:53And by the way, they swept Ken Cannon, Caminiti and that Padre
- 34:58team in the World Series. Yes.
- 35:00And Bruce Bocci, as we all know, who went to the World Series
- 35:04with the Padres. So the greatest I, I think one
- 35:06of the greatest, more underrated New York Yankee teams of all
- 35:09time. Give me that.
- 35:10I got Yeah. Case 1998.
- 35:12So let's vote on it. I'll start off the process.
- 35:15I'm going to go with Errol mainly because the 1927 team and
- 35:20the 98 teams would have been my two pick picks for the.
- 35:23Yankees, of course you're going to pick.
- 35:24The Yankees like. Well, I mean, you just pick the
- 35:262009 Yankees. It's going to go away, I.
- 35:28Just I just feel like, well, duh, the 98 team had the record
- 35:33wins, 2017 was the Babe Ruth team, and you feel like you got
- 35:37to throw DiMaggio in there. I would have probably included
- 35:40the 61, Yankees the 61. And sixty, I left off it, I
- 35:43left. That off we we opened the
- 35:45stadium after not making the playoffs and won the World
- 35:48Series. Java.
- 35:50It's still one of my. It's like you're comparing like
- 35:52your favorite children when you're talking about.
- 35:54Yankee. Oh bullshit.
- 35:56Everybody has their favorite child.
- 35:57I don't care what you say. Goody agree with me.
- 35:59I don't care, say. Well, for me it's like favorite.
- 36:02You only have one, How would you know?
- 36:05No, because I know Well, well, either way, I, I, I think those
- 36:113. Combined, why did any of you
- 36:12guys say 2024 Dodgers? What happened?
- 36:16I like the Reds pick a lot though.
- 36:18I like the. Red Dodgers were electric.
- 36:19Yeah, they went to they went. To the World Series, and we knew
- 36:23they were going to. Win.
- 36:24I just look at, I look at the rosters and I, I mean those
- 36:27rosters. 24 and. Just the wins, if you look at
- 36:30the red, the Yankee teams that I mentioned, they won like almost
- 36:33400 games all together, all three of them together, so.
- 36:38The other thing is if you're looking at best, best teams
- 36:41overall, like the 2009 Yankees would have probably demolished
- 36:46the 1928 Yankees with the pitching that they have going on
- 36:51now. So it's like it's just different
- 36:53eras of baseball. Yeah, but that's not what we're
- 36:55looking, Abe Ruth, because it's not what?
- 36:57That's not what we're looking. For or the the sweeper the.
- 37:00Ghost I don't think Babe Ruth probably would shoot his pants
- 37:03if he stole that thing, but. That's not that's not the
- 37:05question. We're talking about the greatest
- 37:08baseball. He was.
- 37:09Like a 50 inch. But that's not the argument
- 37:13here. I don't that is not.
- 37:15The that's. Not still bark on the.
- 37:18But that's not an argument, that's.
- 37:20Not a bone in the back. I.
- 37:22Don't think there's an argument there I.
- 37:25Mean right, So good I. Agree.
- 37:26I agree with the with the with the with the ERA and style of
- 37:31baseball. Obviously the Yankees owned it
- 37:33forever. Forever.
- 37:36Yeah, I got our old argument. So for 39 especially, I think
- 37:39especially for like a transcendent.
- 37:41Like, by the way, by the way, I give Job a lot of credit.
- 37:44He could have went with something else, but he went with
- 37:47his own intuition, even though he probably thought, hey, you
- 37:50know what? I'm probably going to lose this
- 37:51anyways. I'm going to.
- 37:53Go. Well, yeah, for the same reason.
- 37:54For the same reason I gave Jabba the point over goodie.
- 37:56I have to use the history there. All right.
- 38:00And Nathan, your your vote doesn't count because it's
- 38:03already freed enough. You could judge next week so.
- 38:05Thanks for thanks for sitting in on it, though, Nathan.
- 38:07I mean, I'm just kidding, Nathan, but how would you vote?
- 38:10It's a democracy. Vote with arrow man.
- 38:13I guess his his his points are valid.
- 38:17The Yankees, the Yankees, the two Yankees teams that won the
- 38:20World Series. So.
- 38:21By the way, I was thinking maybe the Red Sox with Curt Schilling
- 38:25and. I almost put them but it
- 38:28couldn't come out of my mouth. That was something.
- 38:34As long as she's using dude wipes and taking care of my 2
- 38:36hole I'm good. I will say this, I I got to give
- 38:43Jabba a lot of credit. He could have went another
- 38:45route. He went with that too.
- 38:47I think it was the. King stays the king for another
- 38:50week. Errol, you will take on all
- 38:52competitors again next week. By the way, we got to mention
- 38:55Speaking of, so I told Errol this Cam, Cam Lockers told me
- 39:00that he's related to Ken Gifford junior and Ken Gifford senior.
- 39:04Great, get him on the show. If.
- 39:10He's related to Ken Griffey Junior.
- 39:12He's related to his dad. Wait, he's related to both of
- 39:15them? Yeah.
- 39:17No way. Yeah.
- 39:18No way. You guys, we want the family by
- 39:21blood. Breaking news.
- 39:25By Nathan's Modern. DNA tests, he said.
- 39:28Tell us about us. Nathan, what was that about Cam
- 39:32Lockridge? Related to Ken Griffey, Junior.
- 39:37Really. All right, all right.
- 39:38Speaking of Kings, the Islanders won the NHL Draft lottery.
- 39:42The land them the number one overall pick, first time since
- 39:452009 when they drafted John Tavares.
- 39:48This is the fifth time in their history they had their number
- 39:51one pick, which includes drafting Hall of Famer
- 39:54defenseman Dennis Podman. According to nhl.com Prospect
- 39:58rankings, defenseman Matthew Schaefer is projected to go #1
- 40:01he had 22 points. And a + 21 rating barely played
- 40:06this season. Center Mike Mesa is the #2
- 40:09prospect. He's the high scorer in Ontario
- 40:12Hockey League with 64 goals, 74 assists and 138 points, which
- 40:16averages one point and one goal at one assist, one goal every
- 40:20single game. Center James Haggins Long Island
- 40:23native is the #3 ranked prospect, but missed time with
- 40:28an injury. He is.
- 40:29He still had 37 points, 30 in 37 games.
- 40:32Eleven goals in 20, 26 assist. The Islanders are still
- 40:35searching for a new general manager after parting ways with
- 40:38Lou Lamorello 2 weeks ago. Well, you know, it's so
- 40:42interesting. This is a great, there's a great
- 40:44thing for Islander fans. I know everybody's all over
- 40:47social media saying we're going to win the Stanley Cup.
- 40:50They're not winning nothing right now.
- 40:52The Islanders are going to be rebuilding.
- 40:53They got to bring in the right GM.
- 40:55And the question is, as questions are, is I'm not going
- 40:59to mention any names, but the the list of guys that are out
- 41:03there are not and they're not list that you want as as far as
- 41:07if you're an Islander fan or not.
- 41:09So that's not a good sign. Nevertheless, Higgins was
- 41:13projected to be the number one pick going into the season.
- 41:17Mesa had a sensational year. He's to me, he's projected to be
- 41:20the best player in this year's draft with the talent that he
- 41:22has offensively. He's an offensive, defensive
- 41:26forward. He's got a tremendous amount of
- 41:27speed, unbelievable goal scoring opportunities to put it in the
- 41:32net. He can shoot anywhere on the
- 41:33ice. I Everybody keeps talking about
- 41:35Connor Bedard and what Connor Bedard was coming out of the
- 41:38class, his class. This guy is better and faster
- 41:41than Connor Bedard. I think this guy is going to be
- 41:43sensational player. I think he's going to be star in
- 41:45the league. I think Higgins is going to be a
- 41:46star. It might take him a little bit a
- 41:48little longer to get in touch or get close to his talents in the
- 41:53NHL. Nevertheless, this guy is a
- 41:55special player too. He's going to be the highest
- 41:58pick out of NHL history for a Long Islander to be picked in
- 42:02the top three as a sensational story.
- 42:04I I know a little bit about him. I know one of his.
- 42:07I know one of his family members.
- 42:09This kid, sensational Matthew Schaefer protected be the number
- 42:13one pick. You never draft a defenseman as
- 42:16your number one. I don't care if he's Victor
- 42:17Hedman. I don't care if he's Paul
- 42:19Coffey. You don't draft a defenseman as
- 42:22your number one unless he's just absolutely a home run.
- 42:25Now we all know over there in Buffalo, they did that.
- 42:28It took him a while to develop and he's a good player.
- 42:31I still don't do that. If the Islanders have the number
- 42:34one pick and they can trade down to still get a guy like Higgins,
- 42:38I would do that. Get another first round draft
- 42:41pick from Chicago. They'll move up.
- 42:43They're still going to be bad. They're going to be a lottery
- 42:45pick next year and then you have three first round draft picks
- 42:48next year from obviously courtesy from Colorado.
- 42:51Thank you to Lula Morello, their own pick and the Chicago
- 42:56Blackhawks. You give Chicago that other star
- 42:58to play with Bedard and they could build around that and it's
- 43:01going to take him a little. I I just think that this is a,
- 43:03this is a great story for Islander fans. 3.5% chance that
- 43:08the Islanders are going to win it.
- 43:09And they and, and the one thing I can tell you about the NHL
- 43:11draft in this lottery bowl thing, they do it in front of
- 43:14the fans. They don't do it in another room
- 43:16like the NBA or the MLB. They do it right in front of
- 43:20your face so you can watch it. Gary Bettman slam dunk.
- 43:24The Islanders are a lucky team team.
- 43:25The Rangers are a lucky team. They weren't lucky with Alexis
- 43:28laughing here. Hopefully wherever the Islanders
- 43:30go here and the right GM, they pick the right guy.
- 43:34If they do, it can set their team forward for the next 10
- 43:38years with a young superstar stud to move forward with
- 43:41Barzell and and the players that they have over there.
- 43:44I call them Ricci. I mean, the Islanders could be
- 43:46put in a really, really good position.
- 43:49Hagen's Mesa. I go either or.
- 43:52I'd be happy with any, but if you get Hagen's, don't draft
- 43:54Hagen's at all. One trade down and then get
- 43:57Higgins and get yourself another first round draft pick.
- 44:00Right. The game now is centers that can
- 44:01skate. And I think those two guys
- 44:03definitely qualify for that kind of thing.
- 44:05And you talked about with Dalene and some other defenseman that
- 44:07were drafted early recently with the Devils, with Simone Nemec
- 44:10has not developed the way that he should as a second overall
- 44:13pick. And it sometimes it just takes a
- 44:15while. And the Islanders don't really
- 44:16have a while because they're trying to figure out what the
- 44:18direction of this roster is. And it starts with somebody that
- 44:20could skate like that, like Mesa.
- 44:22Now Mesa is a little taller. He's a bigger guy.
- 44:24Higgins has to grow in his body a lot of I think he's 5 foot 10
- 44:27or. He's 18 years old.
- 44:28And he's 18 years old. So I think there's a little
- 44:30more, there's a little more traction that has to go.
- 44:32That's why I think I I think he'll still come up if he does
- 44:36get drafted. He's the best American prospect
- 44:38to come out of the United States since Jack Hughes, and that's
- 44:42how good he. Is and you're right, he for a
- 44:43while he was the consensus #1 prospect until his injury and I
- 44:47think December or January this year.
- 44:48And a shout out to our friend Anthony Loraco too.
- 44:50He was saying that Hagen's like skills are not far behind
- 44:54overall. It just, again, the size of the
- 44:55skating at this level, can it be?
- 44:57And that's what we were talking about in the past too, with a
- 44:59lot of these either Scandinavian prospects and the Russian
- 45:02prospects versus the American prospects.
- 45:03The American prospects have a better adaptation to the game, a
- 45:06lot younger and much more of an instant impact overall.
- 45:09And that's what I think the Rangers obviously fell into a
- 45:11Capococko never developing the way he should have and stuff
- 45:13like that. And I think you have two really
- 45:16bona fide choice. I agree with you.
- 45:17Try to dupe Chicago if you could.
- 45:18If you want to trade back and take Hagen's, try to dupe them.
- 45:20I think they're a dumb enough organization to fall for that.
- 45:23Otherwise, yeah, I think you go. Me.
- 45:24Why is it dumb Ed? No, I think Chicago.
- 45:27I think they're a. Dumb.
- 45:28That's not a dumb move for Chicago.
- 45:30Chicago's looking for the other guy to play with.
- 45:32Connor Bedard. Connor Bedard has been a bust.
- 45:36Really. I know he's young, but he's been
- 45:38a bust for everybody. Comparing him to the next Sidney
- 45:40Crosby, the next economy David, he's not anywhere close to that
- 45:44right now. I know he's young, but Mesa
- 45:47could be a guy that they could be licking their lips for.
- 45:50And then the Islanders sit pretty.
- 45:51They get the Long Island native. They get the guy that they can
- 45:54build around and now they get another first round.
- 45:57Now they have 5 first round draft picks in the next two
- 46:01years. They set the and they got,
- 46:02remember Colin Ricci is going to make the team this year.
- 46:05They got speed, they Got Talent to those two top lines.
- 46:08And you still have Barzelli and you know who Mr. Vancouver
- 46:11himself, who they spent a lot of money for.
- 46:13So I think the Island and they have Sarokin and they have a
- 46:16great young defenseman over there too.
- 46:19That's why you don't. You don't build around the
- 46:22defense here. You need speed, and the
- 46:25Islanders have a lack of it. Yeah, maybe dumb was the wrong
- 46:27word. I just said maybe a team that's
- 46:28easier to do for because Chicago, I like you talk like
- 46:31you were talking about like some teams just get the luck of the
- 46:34of the lottery and Chicago was actually one of those teams.
- 46:36But a lot of those players never amounted to anything.
- 46:38I got a question for you. Yeah.
- 46:40Why the hell did you not post up the argument with the whole
- 46:43Jackie Robinson and you know, Lawrence Taylor?
- 46:48I why haven't I seen that clip on SO?
- 46:50It's on YouTube. It's on YouTube.
- 46:51Yeah, well, get it up on on the other things.
- 46:53I mean, that was a great argument.
- 46:55I had to say this. I wanted to wait until the end
- 46:57of the show, but screw it. You need to put that up.
- 47:01Get the argument. It was a great argument and it's
- 47:03a great back and forth Panther. And as far as you're concerned,
- 47:06it's not the Rangers getting the number one baby, it is the
- 47:08Islanders. So suck it.
- 47:11So why? Why not?
- 47:12There's been two defensemen taken 1st overall since 2018.
- 47:18We got power from the Sabres and Dolan from the Sabres.
- 47:22Sabres keep taking hacks at it, obviously.
- 47:25Dolan's a slam dunk. Yeah, no, he's great.
- 47:27He's. But it took him a while.
- 47:28But it took him a while. It takes, you know, it's taking
- 47:31a lot of these guys some time. I don't know if I see any others
- 47:35unless I go back to like, I guess.
- 47:37Ed Jovanowski was 1994. Florida Panthers No.
- 47:41Florida Panthers, everyone else I'm looking at.
- 47:44You don't see any, you don't go defenseman at #1 if you're
- 47:48sitting there in somebody like, you know, the Chicago Blackhawks
- 47:53want him or the the team right on the San Jose, then do it.
- 47:56Trade them out. You're going to get Hagen's no
- 47:58matter what. And, and if these teams want me
- 48:01some really, really bad and there are teams out there that
- 48:04will do whatever it takes to get me some.
- 48:06He's special. He is going to be a great player
- 48:08in the NHL. He is a great, great young, I
- 48:11mean. Schaefer's highlights are
- 48:12absurd. They they really are.
- 48:14I was cutting highlights from his highlights are outrageous.
- 48:17Canadian team, coast to coast type of defenseman making all
- 48:22these great. He's not a defensive defenseman.
- 48:24He's an Adam Fox. He's not.
- 48:25I don't want to. He might be a lot better than
- 48:28Adam Fox is. If he is, then we're talking
- 48:31about a guy with like Leech type skills.
- 48:34That, that's what. They got a player like that,
- 48:36they got a player like that, they got a player like that,
- 48:38they got a player like. That, well, he's he's like
- 48:40skinnier and fat in like it just seems a little bit like maybe
- 48:44not as aggressive like physically as maybe Leach was
- 48:48going inside, but. You don't play defense.
- 48:51I don't. Really young.
- 48:52He's like 17, you know, like or 8 or what is he like 18,
- 48:55something like that. He's been injury prone and I
- 48:58again, he's 6 foot three, He's long.
- 49:00It's great, good for that, good for him.
- 49:02You do not draft the defenseman at #1 you're if you're unless
- 49:06he's a bona fide and he's not the bona fide because I'm
- 49:09telling you, I'm taking Nisa or Hagen.
- 49:11I think both guys are going to be starring stars in the NHL.
- 49:14Go after the guy. You have had a lack of speed on
- 49:18your wing play or even your center play.
- 49:20You need a star there. You need a guy.
- 49:24Again, if I'm the Islanders, I trade out of the pick and get
- 49:27Hagans. You can really rebuild next year
- 49:30in the class that's supposed to be stacked next year.
- 49:34You can get three first round draft picks in next year's
- 49:36class. You're licking your chops.
- 49:39If you're AGM, you're you're going to be sitting pretty.
- 49:42But if you get me some the the Islanders get themselves a bona
- 49:46fide star. That's going to be a guy that's
- 49:49going to be able to be your center, your number one line
- 49:52center. Could you imagine him?
- 49:53Barzell and what's his name again?
- 49:56Horvat. Beau Horvat, your two wing guys
- 49:58and have this guy's you're centering your number one line.
- 50:01It'll be sick. It'll be disgusting how good and
- 50:04this guy's fast and he's an offensive defenseman.
- 50:07That's what he is. He plays defense.
- 50:09He's so good. He reads the eye so very well.
- 50:12I'm not he's better than Connor Bedard.
- 50:16I, I don't care what anybody says, he's.
- 50:17Big enough where he doesn't, he doesn't lose the puck very
- 50:19easily. Either no, he's strong.
- 50:21Strong skater too there. There is some video I saw of
- 50:25Hagen's like he's he's just skating around the ice and he's
- 50:30not even looking at the puck ever.
- 50:31Not like once. He's just effortless skating.
- 50:34He's great stick handling. Best American.
- 50:36Best American? Like, so impressive.
- 50:39He's the best. So impressive.
- 50:40I don't know if I would pass up on him.
- 50:42No, you know, I it's first overall.
- 50:44Do you really want to play that game like trying to drop down
- 50:47the two or three and still? You're still going to get him.
- 50:50You're still going to get one. Great.
- 50:51Player What do you get? Do you get another?
- 50:52First round, you're jumping from 3:00 to 1:00 and you get your
- 50:56chance to pick who you want. All three of these guys are
- 50:59going to be stars in the league. All three.
- 51:00That's my point. Like if all three of them are
- 51:02stars, why trade? And I don't know if anyone in
- 51:06two or three is going to be like, yeah, no, I'll take any of
- 51:10these three guys, You know, why would I?
- 51:13Again, it depends on if there's a select desire for one of those
- 51:16teams for. The Sharks or like or you're
- 51:19saying don't want a defenseman that high, You know, like it's
- 51:21very possible. Right and and again, both of
- 51:23these teams just had the number one pick.
- 51:25So maybe they think they can afford to just go OnStar OnStar.
- 51:29But dart does develop and what do what people were expecting to
- 51:32be and then Celebrini with the Sharks too, same kind of thing.
- 51:34What a nice rookie year or two. He I think going to be a
- 51:36finalist for the rookie of the year, but like the Sharks are
- 51:39still very far away. So they could, they feel like
- 51:41all right, maybe 2 two players that could be instant impact to
- 51:44help the rest of the the role players out and just get them to
- 51:47a more, I guess not necessarily competitive because they're not
- 51:50a playoff team, but a desirable location against the Sharks used
- 51:52to be when they first came into the NHL.
- 51:54They were, they were rocking for a while.
- 51:56They never won a Cup, but they became popular right away.
- 52:00Well, I, I, I will say this time will show you that you don't
- 52:03draft the defenseman at #1 and I don't think the Islanders are
- 52:06dumb enough to do that. Even even if they bring in the
- 52:09wrong GM. I think you go wing or center
- 52:12whenever, whatever way you go, you're going to get, Higgins can
- 52:16play wing and center. You're getting two guys that can
- 52:19play both multiple positions, one's American and one's
- 52:22Canadian. So either or you're going to hit
- 52:25on one of them. I think I, I think that's where
- 52:28the Islanders go. So it's going to be fun.
- 52:30We will be back on Monday. Keep following us on social
- 52:33media. I want to make it quick.
- 52:35I want to make a quick announcement announcement
