- 0:07Now broadcasting from the next-gen conservative studio in
- 0:11Sunny South Florida, bringing you the latest in politics
- 0:15current events and pop culture. This is the Whitfield Report
- 0:20with Sam Whitfield. Hey there folks, welcome to the
- 0:32Tuesday edition of the show. I want to thank you so very much
- 0:36for joining me whenever you're turning into this podcast in the
- 0:40past present future, our, and before we get started with the
- 0:45show, I want to thank Max sand of the cringe, copy house for
- 0:51filling in for me this past Saturday and kind of being a
- 0:57doing a quasi Whitfield's reports show over on his channel
- 1:03on the cringe, copy house and if you did tune into that episode,
- 1:08you obviously know that I did tune in for a, you know, for a
- 1:14brief period of time when I was on vacation in Orlando.
- 1:23For those of you don't know, I took this past weekend off for
- 1:28my birthday weekend. And I celebrated my birthday
- 1:32weekend with my family in Orlando.
- 1:37Well, actually in Cocoa Beach and we wanted to the, we wanted
- 1:40the Kennedy Space Center and had a really fun time there.
- 1:50Just really incredible to see, you know, everything that we
- 1:57have done as a nation. Ian, as far as space exploration
- 2:01goes and I know we have a few people that you know in our
- 2:05audience that may or may not believe that the moon landing
- 2:07was real fake and you know, we can do that on another podcast
- 2:13another time. But regardless, the kind of nice
- 2:16pay center was amazing. Very impressive.
- 2:24You know, Place they've got going over there and the people
- 2:27who run the Kennedy Space Center, it's a private group.
- 2:31I know that. And we seem to really take pride
- 2:35in maintaining that place. And you know, it was a really
- 2:41good. I had a real good time there in
- 2:44Cocoa Beach in and of itself was just really fun, great beaches.
- 2:48So if you're ever in Florida, I would highly recommend going to
- 2:54the Canadian Space Center. It is worth the visit and it is
- 2:59worth. It's worth taking a full weekend
- 3:02and two days to really explore that place and you'll have a
- 3:06good time. But I don't want any.
- 3:10Like I said, I want to thank Max and flowing in for me on
- 3:14Saturday, always fun. You know to your his take on
- 3:18things and he did a great job. And with that being said, what
- 3:27last week, ladies and gentlemen, there was a, you know, there was
- 3:32a breaking news story that happened right?
- 3:35As I was getting ready to kind of go on vacation and it kind of
- 3:43figures that this happens because it always does happen
- 3:47when I'm about to go on vacation, some breaking news
- 3:51story that would have been perfect for me to cover. cover
- 3:54why bomb the channel happened when I was you know getting
- 3:59ready to go out of town and unable to jump on a livestream
- 4:05to You know, give my comments on but you know, as most of you
- 4:13probably know by now, Steven Crowder, I guess has come out
- 4:19and admitted that he has some problems with Ben Shapiro and
- 4:27not in the deli why're, you know, he loves the Blaze and see
- 4:32our TV. at the end of last year, and I guess has been trouble
- 4:39fighting. You know, he's been having
- 4:43trouble finding a home or another Network to partner with
- 4:48which is kind of weird and him and of itself.
- 4:51And I'll explain why here in a bit but evidently he, you know,
- 5:00was in talks with the Della wired to sign, you know, deal to
- 5:05carry his program and they you know they made some questionable
- 5:11demands in his eyes and so he not only declined the offer be
- 5:18then I guess one Dawn to expose not just the You know, contract
- 5:27antics of the daily wire themselves, but kind of the ins
- 5:32and outs of the conservative media business as a whole.
- 5:37And what not? And that's what we're going to
- 5:41talk about a bit tonight. There's a lot that I, you know,
- 5:48I have to say about this. I'm going to try and keep this
- 5:52podcast, at least this episode under an hour, to really try and
- 5:59explain to because there is a lot to cover here but you know,
- 6:07I do have some things to say about this because believe it or
- 6:12not, I too have had offers to take the whitfield's report or
- 6:21in some iterations of the show. The we feel the analysis to
- 6:26bigger. Platforms and, you know, merge
- 6:30with bigger networks, much bigger networks and basically
- 6:38have the potential to become a, you know, a conservative
- 6:43celebrity basically. and, you know, for various reasons that
- 6:55has happened, obviously I stopped a channel that's, you
- 6:58know, under You know, 1000 subscribers, you know, my
- 7:06podcast. It gets a couple, you know,
- 7:10thousand was ins a month, not bad.
- 7:13But you know, not like big time, you know, celebrity numbers
- 7:20either. And the one question I always
- 7:25get especially from the, you know, from from some of the a
- 7:28logs out there's well, Sam you've been doing this for, you
- 7:32know, you've been doing this since you were a teenager.
- 7:35Why aren't you more famous? and, Folks, this may be a bit
- 7:43cliche, but essentially the reason why I'm not as big as
- 7:49say, a Ben Shapiro origin. Or a try crook. or someone like
- 8:00that even though for as long as I've been in the game, I maybe
- 8:06should be Is because I refused. I have refused to play the game
- 8:14of basically big, you know, conservative media.
- 8:20And yes folks, big press or big Media or whatever you want to
- 8:28call. It does exist on both sides,
- 8:31sides of the aisle. I've had to deal with them.
- 8:36I've had friends who have had to deal with them and I will tell
- 8:44you this right off the bat. I can't really speak to, you
- 8:50know, Steven Crowder's situation.
- 8:58I, you know, I have my opinions about Steven Crowder.
- 9:06I think a lot of what he said in that interview with, you know,
- 9:10Tim pool last night made a lot of sense.
- 9:18And all I was gripes with the daily wire are legit.
- 9:24And he is right that there is a, you know, the Third Kind of an
- 9:31upper echelon. There is a group of
- 9:34conservatives are kind of keeping the, you know, the
- 9:39concern of meat is spear so to speak.
- 9:44And you know, I'm not going to go too much into Steven
- 9:49Crowder's. Whole thing, my opinion on
- 9:55crowder is mixed. Because I really when, when
- 10:02Steven Crowder started out doing louder louder with Crowder, I
- 10:08didn't like his content. I thought, you know, he might
- 10:18not have been better been my brand of Connie.
- 10:21He made some good points. He Can be entertaining and what
- 10:29not? but basically, as show grew
- 10:36because I started listening to loud with Crowder and 2014 and
- 10:43what some people might not know is When louder with Crowder
- 10:49first started it was a radio show, turn into a podcast that
- 10:55he did, you know I'll like a local radio station in Detroit I
- 11:02believe. You know, and then like around
- 11:06late 2014 or early 2015? That was when YouTube started,
- 11:10the roller Heads live stream and that was when loud with crowd
- 11:15wanted to video and it be, you know, became a whole thing.
- 11:18Everyone started doing video podcasting then.
- 11:21And that was really when I, you know, when I made the move from
- 11:28Spreaker to you know YouTube and started you know that was when I
- 11:34reprinted the with something else has as the field report in
- 11:382015 and you know here we are all these years later right?
- 11:48So I have a, like I said, I've had mixed emotions on.
- 11:52Steven Crowder, you know, I guess my biggest gripe with
- 11:58Steven Crowder is Basically, once he grew and into the
- 12:07Juggernaut podcast, he was you know and took the deal with the
- 12:12blaze. You know prior to him taking
- 12:21that deal and whatnot. I was actually personal.
- 12:25I was actually personal friends with Stephen on Facebook. and,
- 12:34At one point, I was I was in a private Facebook group. for loud
- 12:40with crown which was basically tasked with you know, promoting
- 12:46louder with Crowder back when it was still an you know, back when
- 12:50I was still completely independent Shout And so, you
- 12:56know, we would basically, you know, be asked, you know, tweet
- 13:01out the show, you know, share with your friends basically
- 13:04word-of-mouth. And so, We did that for a while.
- 13:11And then you know, Stephen wanted to The Blaze and we were
- 13:16all have if warm and I remember at one point you know II had
- 13:20asked Steven Crowder if he would do my podcast.
- 13:25And initially before the, before, the deal with the blaze
- 13:31was made, he said, yes. And you know, we were going to
- 13:37work, work out a deal. you know, with No him going on on the show
- 13:50and all that. But then, basically, once the,
- 13:54you know, whole CRT be wowed with crowded deal became
- 13:59apparent, that was one section of an episode that he did, where
- 14:05he said, hey, we've been getting a lot of requests to do, you
- 14:10know, podcast and he basically said we can't afford to, you
- 14:16know, we can go on every single small time, you know, podcast
- 14:22out there, you know, every Small Time YouTube channel out there,
- 14:29we can do it and it was just the way he said at that was kind of
- 14:36You know, it kind of came off as I'm holier than thou and I don't
- 14:42have time for you kind of snarky attitude that it just kind of
- 14:48rub me the wrong way and I'll be honest that's a big part of the
- 14:54reason why I'm not in such a big fan of you know crowd oohs as
- 14:58much anymore. I mean yeah it may seem kind of
- 15:01a bit Petty but Like I said, this was someone who's podcast.
- 15:10I had kind of, you know, help to promote.
- 15:15When it was still completely independent from the ground up.
- 15:24You know, obviously I, I did realize that once he was, you
- 15:31know, the ones who made the big time, it was going to be harder
- 15:33to keep in touch with him and whatnot and to get his
- 15:38attention. But for me to, you know, ask him
- 15:43to come onto the show and buy him onto the show.
- 15:48And then friend to make that, you know, Common the way he did
- 15:53that hey we don't have time for every single small podcaster
- 15:57that invites us on our show that is real rub me the wrong way,
- 16:02you know? It's a minor thing but You know,
- 16:06I think it just goes to show that Fame and whatnot can really
- 16:10affect people, right? And so That's kind, my
- 16:16experience was with Steven Crowder.
- 16:18I mean, as far as the whole rumors that he's gay or You
- 16:25know, well there was a rumor that he didn't want to have kids
- 16:28for a while and then obviously he had kids.
- 16:32So clearly that myth, you know God debunked but like all that
- 16:37stuff that was put out there mostly by Owen Benjamin, I'm I
- 16:42would like to point out was proven, not to be true that I'm
- 16:47not going to get into. Because, you know, as far as
- 16:50like, his personal life goes You know, who knows?
- 16:56We all have our shoes. You know, I hope he's doing well
- 17:00as far as health goes but you know like as far as my
- 17:04interactions to go with him. They've been very lukewarm at
- 17:12best. Let me just put it that way.
- 17:19but, you know, when he came out and said he's leaving the Blaze
- 17:25and see our TV and he made, you know, that he's been in talks
- 17:31with all these organizations to pick up his show and they've all
- 17:36come back with like really bad contract deals.
- 17:41I, you know, I empathize with him in a sense.
- 17:48And this is really the meat and potatoes of the program.
- 17:50I want to get to tonight folks. A lot of why I'm going to be
- 17:56saying is based off of my own experience.
- 18:04And all of this was based off of word-of-mouth conversations.
- 18:08I do not have receipts for the these and I'll have my mom's
- 18:14going to talk about is do is, you know, is speculation. and,
- 18:24you know, info that I've heard from other people kind regarding
- 18:28how big con works And whatnot. But essentially folks, there
- 18:38have been a few times when I have been doing the show. when
- 18:45I've been doing the Winfield's before and I have had much
- 18:48bigger groups of basically, like, you know, conservative
- 18:57media groups offering to pick up this show, and In their words,
- 19:08not mine. Make me, you know, the next big
- 19:14conservative voice. Quote-unquote now.
- 19:22Let me just kind of break this down, okay?
- 19:29One of the things that I firmly believe.
- 19:34As a podcaster. is that if you are, if you independently star
- 19:43pod yast, right? You put all your energy into it,
- 19:50you put the work in to create content guests, you know,
- 19:56schedule shows Etc. That is your content.
- 20:01You've created it. You've done the vast majority of
- 20:05production work on it, that is your thing, and you own that,
- 20:10right? That was one of the appeals of
- 20:13podcasting in the beginning was that, you know, basically no
- 20:19matter what genre your end to, no matter how many listeners and
- 20:26our viewers you have on said, podcast, if you're producing
- 20:32independently, The show is yours.
- 20:38Right. Well, I had some pretty big
- 20:45names in conservative media. From the time I was about 18,
- 20:52all the way up until about 2017. I've had offers Ladies and
- 20:59gentlemen, for bigger podcast, Networks. so basically, by out
- 21:09The Whitfield report in the hire me on. as a, you know, as a
- 21:16shell host on the networks, and Sundays are, you know, big names
- 21:23that you would recognize But in almost every circumstance.
- 21:33People ones by the brand of the Whitfield report.
- 21:40And basically have complete ownership of this show.
- 21:48Of the Whitfield report. Now.
- 21:55Ladies and gentlemen, I'm this maybe.
- 22:00An area where I come off as arrogant.
- 22:04Or prideful or whatever you want to call it.
- 22:08But I start podcasting when I was 13, Years old.
- 22:19Yes, the show has had rebrands over the years.
- 22:24And yes, I have had different topics and guess and what not?
- 22:31But for a lack of, you know, but at the end of the day for lack
- 22:38of a better term, I own this program and all its iterations.
- 22:48Pretty much out, right? It's mine.
- 22:56And, you know, I'm proud of it, especially considering that I
- 22:59started this show. So young.
- 23:06And yet you have eyelid other groups, basically prepared, you
- 23:12know, offered to buy out from me.
- 23:18To not only hire me to, you know, create content for their
- 23:22site to also buy. The rights to this show.
- 23:29Oh, Well, what's the problem with that?
- 23:32Folks? The problem is quite frankly is
- 23:39if I sell it, you know, if I were to merge with a network,
- 23:43right? and, You know, become an
- 23:54employee of theirs and basically give them the branding of the
- 23:59field field report. Theoretically It's no longer my
- 24:04program. Theoretically they could, you
- 24:08know, tell me what I needed to do.
- 24:11As far as content goes, they could basically dictate the
- 24:15terms of the show and God forbid, they could, you know,
- 24:21terminate me or dismiss me somehow and I would be Not only
- 24:26would I be out of a job or I was show but they would own rights
- 24:31to a show that I had. taken years to build before I knew
- 24:39these consider content creators And I knew that going in.
- 24:46So when a couple of these, you know, bigger conservative
- 24:50podcast, /, Radio Networks, you know, made the offer to pay me
- 24:55all of money but to have absolute control over the show.
- 25:02I basically you know said no I will remain independent.
- 25:09Now there have been a few instances where I have merged
- 25:15with bigger podcast networks and have a great success.
- 25:22They're now defunct, but as some of you may remember back when I
- 25:26was a senior in high school Junior and senior of high
- 25:30school. So about 2012, 2013, I was part
- 25:34of a podcast Network called Junior Factor nation and you
- 25:42know, was made up of a couple other young conservative
- 25:45podcasters like myself. And the guy who ran that Network
- 25:51Jason Vela he's been on the show before a few times you know,
- 25:56Jason and I we had our ups and downs.
- 26:00You know, in the past. But overall, he's a terrific guy
- 26:04and one of the things I always like to him was when I joined
- 26:08that Network, he basically said, hey man, you know, just bring
- 26:13your own content and do your own thing.
- 26:15And the only thing he really asked me was I, you know, was I
- 26:19try not to swear too much or say too many vulgar things on the
- 26:24podcast, but other than that he basically gave me free rein and
- 26:28complete and total. Alon Tommy to do.
- 26:33You know, this show the way I wanted and that was terrific.
- 26:39And his show was great. My show was great.
- 26:44Some of the best episodes I've ever I've ever done are still
- 26:50when I was with Junior, fact, Nation. and, you know, I think I
- 27:02did that like even when I left you two Factor Nation, he
- 27:07basically offered To let me, you know, download the episodes.
- 27:15That I had recorded and broadcast, while I was on Junior
- 27:21vaccination, right? Very generous.
- 27:26He could have said I own the Woodfield analysis.
- 27:28Now completely, sorry, you're on your own, but he didn't do that.
- 27:34He basically allowed me to keep all my old show, you know
- 27:39episodes. and I'll upload any of the old ones, but Who knows?
- 27:48Maybe I will, you know, someday but it, regardless, I'm not
- 27:59saying every, you know, conservative contractors bad but
- 28:06there were other Contracts out there.
- 28:14And this does happen a lot where basically you will get signed on
- 28:21to host a show. but, you have no creative say in what you do on
- 28:30that, show The Producers, pick the guests for you and they
- 28:38basically tell you what ads you're going to, you know, read
- 28:43and you know what topics you cannot and cannot cover and they
- 28:52basically set parameters for you.
- 28:55And some of these bigger podcast Network, and, I just don't
- 29:07believe in that at all, folks. I mean, I I, I do believe that
- 29:12contracts, you know, Should be honored to a certain extent if a
- 29:22you know for an organization is offering.
- 29:26You respond their podcast Network, and you want to create
- 29:31content for them. I can understand.
- 29:33They might, you know, say something like well, you know,
- 29:36you can't say The n-word or whatnot or we want to keep this,
- 29:42you know, family friendly or what have you but as far as
- 29:46creative, you know, cons and goes, I think that for the most
- 29:51part, how should have complete autonomy over there?
- 29:56You know, Bella did you create content?
- 29:58Obviously? This is not the case.
- 30:01And, you know, big in big conservative media and this is a
- 30:05big problem. you know, I turned and you know, I'm an example, I
- 30:15turned down money because of that.
- 30:24You know, back in 2015. There were a couple of, you
- 30:31know, podcast networks out there that were very successful at the
- 30:35time. That wanted to bring me on as
- 30:39kind of their young, you know, next Generation, you know, of
- 30:46conservative Talent, right? But around 2015, that was, when
- 30:53Donald Trump was, you know, becoming a big figure in the
- 31:00conservative movement and you know, that we're a lot of
- 31:08conservative out there, that ended up going, never Trump and
- 31:13not only that folks, but they also had the mindset of, well,
- 31:18if you're never trunk, well, if you vote, you know, pro-trump,
- 31:23or you support Trump, or you actively want to have You know
- 31:29promote romp messaging or even it or if you're even open to the
- 31:34idea of voting for Trump, we can have you on our Network.
- 31:39Right. So there was a lot of
- 31:40gatekeeping early on against, you know, Trump supporters from
- 31:49some of the establishment conservative, you know, branding
- 31:53and conservative podcast right by the same token.
- 31:59There were other groups out there who wanted you to be on
- 32:02the Trump train 24/7. And if you said anything
- 32:06critical about Trump, well then, you were off of, you know, the
- 32:11network. And between 2015 and really
- 32:1620/20 this kind of went on for a long period of time. and so
- 32:26really on 2017, I was just like, you know, I'm gonna go
- 32:32completely independent, I don't like, you know, to be able to
- 32:37monetize and make more money on the podcast, but having the
- 32:42rights to my own content is more, you know, valuable than
- 32:49having a large bank account. Is, and I still believe that.
- 32:55Ladies and gentlemen, I still believe that content ownership
- 33:00is a key part of what makes podcasting a unique and special
- 33:06medium. I'm not opposed anyone signing
- 33:11contracts, but I think a lot of people, especially in, you know,
- 33:16big concern of media, they signed contracts Without Really
- 33:20realizing what the terms are. Per se, right?
- 33:27And it's a big and it's a big problem and I think that's what
- 33:30Steven Crowder is dealing with some what and there are other
- 33:37conservatives out there dealing with the same thing, and I have
- 33:43had to deal with some of that myself now.
- 33:50There's a lot more. I wanted that.
- 33:53I do want to cover on this topic but for time, reasons and
- 33:58whatnot. And also due to Due to some of
- 34:08the more sensitive parts of this topic, I think I'm going to end
- 34:18the show here for today and I will be I will be back on
- 34:23Thursday for part two of this, you know discussion.
- 34:30So this is kind of a primer But anyway, from all of us here at
- 34:35NGC Studios, have a good day or good evening.
- 34:40Whenever listening to this program, God bless God.
- 34:45Save this great nation and God Freedom Legacy in that order.
