- 0:03Tyler Watkins, you son of a...
- 0:17I love the chase and the hunt and
- 0:18I set the pace when I'm running.
- 0:20I always take what I want and I
- 0:21always give it one hundred.
- 0:22Don't need a bank, no I'm funded.
- 0:24Play the game like it's nothing.
- 0:25I'm always thankful for something.
- 0:27Don't take for granted, stay humble.
- 0:28Now wake up!
- 0:30It's time to look at the enemy.
- 0:32Look in the mirror if he is no
- 0:34friend to me.
- 0:35It's not working out,
- 0:37maybe it's the chemistry.
- 0:38It's time to break up so I can
- 0:40make a better me.
- 0:42It's lunch time!
- 0:45What's going on, everybody?
- 0:48It's Lunch with the Clydesdale,
- 0:50and we are brought to you by Thirdsy.

- 1:09and um and now we've got the salted

- 1:16super sweet
- 1:18kind of chocolatey thing.
- 1:19You got that.
- 1:19Or if you want like that cool summer
- 1:22lemonade, awesome.
- 1:25And it's got grass fed beef collagen in
- 1:28it.
- 1:29Not made from fish bones,
- 1:30not made from fish bones and,
- 1:35and no melatonin and no melatonin,
- 1:37which is a big deal.
- 1:39So,
- 1:41and next week we're going to have a
- 1:42great big black Friday deal.
- 1:44So
- 1:45With that, Tyler Watkins.
- 1:50Last night, I'm going to sleep.
- 1:53I put on a spin every Wednesday night
- 1:55as I'm getting ready for bed.
- 1:57And all of a sudden, Brian Spin says,
- 2:01they're talking about the
- 2:02professionalization of the sport and that
- 2:06there are people out there that think that
- 2:09coverage should be for more than the top
- 2:10five athletes.
- 2:12I've actually said that statement.
- 2:16I think we're getting there anyway just
- 2:17because the depth of the field has gone
- 2:19beyond the top five.
- 2:20Absolutely.
- 2:21Especially on the men's side where we're
- 2:23getting past that,
- 2:24and that means we're developing as a
- 2:26professionalized sport a little bit.
- 2:29But Spinn said that when people pay
- 2:34attention beyond the top five,
- 2:35they get like sixteen views.
- 2:38And Watkins came in and said, sorry,
- 2:41Scott.
- 2:44Well, I'd just like him to know,
- 2:47this little lunch show,
- 2:49it started out as just like a thing
- 2:51to get better by myself online.
- 2:54It's turned into we're getting about a
- 2:57hundred views every live broadcast.
- 2:59And we add a couple hundred more in
- 3:02the twenty-four hours after that.
- 3:05I have more than sixteen members on the
- 3:08channel.
- 3:10Just saying.
- 3:13So sorry, not sorry.
- 3:24I know I'm not spinning seven numbers yet.
- 3:27It's fine.
- 3:27I'm cool with my life.
- 3:31You know what?
- 3:32That's that's he shouldn't even said your
- 3:34name.
- 3:34He'd have been better off saying Brian.
- 3:36I mean,
- 3:39I'm not here to call people out.
- 3:40I'm just defending my chat because my chat
- 3:43comes hard.
- 3:44Yeah.
- 3:46Like we have good conversations.
- 3:48I'm defending the chat.
- 3:51Well, dude,
- 3:52defending the chat and to get back to
- 3:54the original point.
- 3:55Like Joseph said, sometimes it's quality,
- 3:57not quantity.
- 3:58Yeah.
- 3:59And you have always focused on not just
- 4:03the top five because you want to get
- 4:04everybody's story because everybody has
- 4:07one.
- 4:08Yeah, to me,
- 4:09if you can find the story,
- 4:11that's what's interesting.
- 4:13I don't think people dig in enough
- 4:15sometimes to find the stories.
- 4:16Not at all.
- 4:18Like Colton the pig farmer was a story
- 4:20before he was a top five athlete.
- 4:22A hundred percent.
- 4:25You know?
- 4:26You had mullet Colton on before anybody
- 4:28else did.
- 4:31The chat knows more than Watkins.
- 4:35Anyway,
- 4:36then he had another comment that while I'm
- 4:38throwing change back at him.
- 4:43He poked it to Tyler.
- 4:44They were talking about how the current
- 4:47campaigns showed an older woman in the
- 4:52campaign doing CrossFit.
- 4:54And he said, that's not elite fitness.
- 4:59Yes, it is.
- 4:59Elite fitness is dependent on the person.
- 5:04What I'm asking for in my elite fitness
- 5:07is the best possible fitness you can give
- 5:09me, right?
- 5:12Whatever that may be.
- 5:13And I would swear a hundred percent that
- 5:17I get the most elite fitness in a
- 5:18CrossFit gym,
- 5:19whether I'm able to do a muscle up
- 5:21or whether I'm doing a ring row.
- 5:25I don't get that elite fitness at twenty
- 5:27four hour fitness.
- 5:28I don't get it at crunch fitness.
- 5:30I don't get it at planet fitness.
- 5:36Right.
- 5:39Elite fitness is population.
- 5:40Exactly.
- 5:41Yes.
- 5:42What I what I'm paying for is for
- 5:45me to get.
- 5:47the elite fitness,
- 5:48the best that I can get.
- 5:49And it gives me the goals to move
- 5:51up those ranks,
- 5:52to become more elite as I go.
- 5:56Absolutely.
- 5:56And that's what CrossFit gives you.
- 6:01Paraphrasing here,
- 6:02but I remember somebody saying that the
- 6:03needs of Olympic athletes and grandmothers
- 6:06vary by degree, not kind.
- 6:08Everybody needs to be able to squat.
- 6:10Everybody needs to be able to,
- 6:11and your population and your gym is going
- 6:13to be dependent on
- 6:15is their elite levels of fitness is going
- 6:17to be dependent on the population of your
- 6:18gym.
- 6:18You're going to have some fire breathers
- 6:20that can do all kinds of crazy stuff.
- 6:21They are going to be the elite at
- 6:23your place.
- 6:23You're going to have,
- 6:24we got a three-year-old Miss Claudia who
- 6:26is also elite because she can do things
- 6:29that other eighty-three-year-olds cannot
- 6:31do and won't do.
- 6:34And she walked through the door.
- 6:36Absolutely.
- 6:37And she asked for help.
- 6:41Oh, look, look at the man himself.
- 6:50I disagree.
- 6:52I disagree, Mr. Watkins.
- 6:53I believe that for her, that was elite.
- 6:56And she is... That said,
- 7:03I know what Tyler's getting at.
- 7:04I also think you must consider all seven
- 7:06to eight-year-old women.
- 7:10So... But...
- 7:13My perspective is I'm buying elite
- 7:14fitness.
- 7:16When I buy a membership to a CrossFit
- 7:18box,
- 7:19I am buying elite fitness to be trained
- 7:22in elite fitness.
- 7:25When I pay a membership to Planet Fitness,
- 7:27I'm getting the ten dollar a month version
- 7:31of fitness.
- 7:31You're getting access to a room.
- 7:33I'm not getting any extras.
- 7:37I'm just walking and figuring it out on
- 7:39my own.
- 7:39You're getting access to a room that has
- 7:41a bunch of Nautilus machines for all
- 7:43intents and purposes.
- 7:44And I know those are two extremes, right?
- 7:46Those are,
- 7:47and there's stuff in the middle, but.
- 7:49Sure there is,
- 7:50but there's not a whole lot of stuff
- 7:50in the middle.
- 7:51The stuff in the middle is stuff that
- 7:52is imitating what we do.
- 7:54The stuff in the middle, in my opinion,
- 7:56is Orange Theory, is F-四ty-five,
- 8:00is whatever those, you know,
- 8:02hit classes are and all that other stuff.
- 8:08I also was not a massive fan of
- 8:10a reel like that unless they were trying
- 8:11to stir the pot.
- 8:15Elite for me is bogus.
- 8:16Elite is elite.
- 8:17Don't make it cheap.
- 8:21There's elite fitness.
- 8:23So many people from coming into your gym.
- 8:27And I thought I've,
- 8:30I understand what he's trying.
- 8:31I think I say I understand.
- 8:33I think I understand what he's trying to
- 8:34say.
- 8:35I think that's an elitist attitude.
- 8:37Yes,
- 8:38because now you're looking at if you're
- 8:39not Jason Hopper, then you're not elite.
- 8:44That's not necessarily true, bro,
- 8:46because there's all kinds of levels in
- 8:49between there.
- 8:50He is the top of the top of
- 8:51the top of the sphere.
- 8:52One hundred percent.
- 8:53He's the current game champion,
- 8:55just like he is.
- 8:56But to say that people who are in
- 8:59their seventy to eighty eight age group
- 9:02that are coming in and doing what ninety
- 9:04nine percent of their population is not
- 9:06doing or can't do because they won't step
- 9:09in the door and calling them not elite
- 9:11for their age group.
- 9:12That's not the same thing.
- 9:17David Hippenstiel is elite at everything
- 9:19except putting his arms overhead.
- 9:21But you're talking another games champion.
- 9:23I'm talking about I'm a guy who walked
- 9:25into a gym over five hundred pounds and
- 9:28I got to a point where I could
- 9:29do body weight pull ups.
- 9:32Like to me, that was elite fitness.
- 9:35I was learning elite fitness.
- 9:39Was I an elite athlete?
- 9:41No,
- 9:42but I was learning elite fitness and I
- 9:44was learning the steps along the way to
- 9:47get better and better and better.
- 9:53And that's the forging part.
- 9:55The forging part is teaching me what I
- 9:58needed to do both in the gym and
- 10:01outside the gym to get better and better
- 10:03and become more elite.
- 10:10within the confines of your space.
- 10:19Again, I think we're, now we're,
- 10:21now we're arguing apples and oranges.
- 10:26What is elite fitness?
- 10:29Not everybody in the gym may be an
- 10:31elite athlete,
- 10:33but they're doing elite fitness because
- 10:36they're taking the steps to get better and
- 10:38better and learning.
- 10:41Yeah, I can understand what he's saying,
- 10:44but at the same time,
- 10:46there's a gray area there because, again,
- 10:49a PVC pipeline is definitely not elite,
- 10:51but that is a step towards getting to
- 10:53where you need to be.
- 10:55Everybody starts with a PVC pipe or
- 10:56should.
- 10:58Let me do this.
- 11:00I'm about to hold on for a second
- 11:01here.
- 11:03Old Mike DeVito,
- 11:04I say this when it comes to affiliate,
- 11:05I've never liked program for the best,
- 11:07scale for the rest.
- 11:08Instead,
- 11:08program for the middle range and scale up
- 11:10for the more elite.
- 11:11Negative.
- 11:12Yeah, I don't either.
- 11:14That's not a thing, brother.
- 11:16Love you to death?
- 11:17No.
- 11:18You program for the best people there,
- 11:20and then everybody else can do a version
- 11:22of it.
- 11:24Easy peasy.
- 11:26Easy peasy.
- 11:27It's way easier that way.
- 11:28Here's why.
- 11:29If I go into the gym this afternoon
- 11:32and I'm looking at it and it's,
- 11:35you know,
- 11:36there's pull-ups and there's thrusters and
- 11:38there's double unders or whatever the case
- 11:40may be.
- 11:40And I go, well,
- 11:41that's going to be super easy.
- 11:43I need, I need more.
- 11:44No, you do not.
- 11:45We need to put the highest level on
- 11:47there.
- 11:49Look at that and go,
- 11:50can I do that?
- 11:51Yeah, I think I can handle that.
- 11:53Or can I do that?
- 11:54Nope, I probably need to scale down some.
- 11:56But this is the highest level we got.
- 11:57This is what we're doing.
- 11:58And it sets a goal for where you
- 12:00want to get to.
- 12:01A hundred percent.
- 12:02A hundred percent.
- 12:04You're inviting way too much gray area in
- 12:05there.
- 12:06You're inviting way too much people who,
- 12:09well, I think I should be doing more.
- 12:11No, you shouldn't be.
- 12:13This is what the standard is for this
- 12:15workout.
- 12:16If you can do this, fantastic.
- 12:18If you think you need to scale up,
- 12:20go faster.
- 12:22Plain and simple.
- 12:25Hiller says, yes, correct, Corey,
- 12:27but as a standalone reel,
- 12:28it's only going to stir to the pot.
- 12:31I don't disagree with that either.
- 12:32I do not like that there's a trend
- 12:35I just noticed on Instagram where people
- 12:37are mislabeling things intentionally to
- 12:40get more clicks,
- 12:42to get more people on it.
- 12:43I saw one that said it had an
- 12:46actor talking about a role.
- 12:48Oh, it had Kurt Russell
- 12:50Talking about, I forget what role it was,
- 12:53but it had him labeled as somebody else.
- 12:55Specifically to get people to click on it
- 12:57and to come and go,
- 12:58that's not Kurt Russell.
- 13:00Or that's not whoever it was.
- 13:02And that kind of shit is not,
- 13:04I don't like that at all.
- 13:06Like, put it out.
- 13:08It's specifically, it's clickbait.
- 13:12It's hardcore clickbait because now you're
- 13:14almost forcing people to go in and make
- 13:17a comment because people aren't going to
- 13:19be able to control themselves,
- 13:20which is obvious if you go into that
- 13:21comment section.
- 13:22It's the first thing people say.
- 13:24Oh, they said it was Michael Douglas.
- 13:27That's not Michael Douglas.
- 13:28That's not Michael Douglas.
- 13:29Like the first seven comments,
- 13:30something along those lines.
- 13:32And so I understand what Hiller's saying
- 13:35from the real perspective.
- 13:37Oh, forging elite fitness.
- 13:38Well,
- 13:38here's a sixty five year old lady with
- 13:40a PVC pipe.
- 13:40Well, that's not elite fitness.
- 13:42Okay,
- 13:42now people are going to go on there
- 13:44and engage and say, that's not it.
- 13:46But it needs to be explained that that
- 13:48is the process of forging the elite
- 13:51fitness.
- 13:52That may be step one when you walk
- 13:54in the door to get the shoulder mobility
- 13:56to actually put a barbell over your head,
- 13:59right?
- 14:00In a real, you can't really explain that.
- 14:02fergie show um scott knows that the
- 14:05masters fifty five plus open was
- 14:07programmed for scaled athletes and most of
- 14:09us were very upset with hq for lowering
- 14:11the bar i said it when it was
- 14:13going on i was able to do those
- 14:15workouts at a level that i should not
- 14:18have been able to do them at with
- 14:20my current fitness level and it was just
- 14:23way too easy for fifty five plus what
- 14:26am i training for darren
- 14:29Yeah.
- 14:29But my training partner is fifty five plus
- 14:31and is an absolute animal.
- 14:33And when those when those workouts came
- 14:35out, he was like,
- 14:35this is some of the stupidest shit I've
- 14:37ever seen because it was such a drop
- 14:40off from fifty fifty four to fifty five
- 14:43plus.
- 14:43Like it was it was it didn't make
- 14:45any sense.
- 14:46It was like take it was like put
- 14:47the training wheels back on,
- 14:49put another set on the front.
- 14:50So we got six points of contract on
- 14:52the ground.
- 14:53Make sure everybody's going to be all
- 14:54right.
- 14:55Like.
- 14:56I don't know whose decision that was,
- 14:58but it was a bad one.
- 15:01It was a bad one from that.
- 15:02It's insulting at that point.
- 15:06You are all discounting the journey to
- 15:08elite fitness.
- 15:08You may never get there.
- 15:10I haven't.
- 15:11But being in the fight is the point.
- 15:14Again,
- 15:14I think you're labeling the athlete as
- 15:17elite.
- 15:18I'm not.
- 15:19I'm saying the fitness we are learning is
- 15:22the process of building an elite athlete.
- 15:25Whether...
- 15:28whether you start with a PVC pipe,
- 15:30whether you're doing a barbell overhead,
- 15:33whether it's an empty barbell or ninety
- 15:35five pounds or one hundred thirty five
- 15:36pounds.
- 15:37It's the process of building the elite
- 15:39fitness you are participating in because
- 15:43that is not scaled on the board.
- 15:45That is for the best.
- 15:47You are in it with elite fitness.
- 15:49You may not be the elite athlete yet,
- 15:53but you're in the process of building it.
- 15:55And again,
- 15:55you may never get to that end.
- 15:58You may never reach the end of elite
- 16:00fitness.
- 16:01I never will.
- 16:03I mean, it's only going to be harder,
- 16:06but it's,
- 16:07but at least I'm on that journey somewhere
- 16:10to,
- 16:10to make myself better and better every
- 16:12day.
- 16:18Um, Vicki.
- 16:21Yes.
- 16:22Scott,
- 16:22the real should have been before and after
- 16:23problem solved.
- 16:27Yeah.
- 16:31Yeah.
- 16:31I think Haley just agreed.
- 16:32Like they didn't say that though.
- 16:33They were like, this is it.
- 16:34Yeah.
- 16:34I get,
- 16:37but I guess my interpretation of that is
- 16:39the stuff that these people are doing is
- 16:41elite fitness.
- 16:42It's part of that journey to get to
- 16:44that.
- 16:45And again,
- 16:45a real is never going to have the
- 16:47words enough to explain all that.
- 16:49I will say this open for everybody's
- 16:51interpretation.
- 16:52Right.
- 16:53And I will say this,
- 16:55it did his job in the fact that
- 16:56we're talking about it.
- 17:03And I really didn't think it would take
- 17:04up this much time.
- 17:05No,
- 17:06it's just fifteen minutes of us talking
- 17:07about a reel that I've only seen part
- 17:10of.
- 17:10I didn't even see the whole damn thing.
- 17:14Yeah.
- 17:16Oh, good stuff.
- 17:17Good stuff, good stuff, good stuff.
- 17:20Mike DeVito, I think you both are right.
- 17:22She is on her journey to get there,
- 17:24but it didn't point that out.
- 17:26It only pointed out here is elite fitness.
- 17:28Yeah.
- 17:35leave it to smart-ass Corey to bring it
- 17:36home.
- 17:37I mean... Imagine some rando,
- 17:45non-indoctrined,
- 17:47seeing that and it's off-putting.
- 17:50It could be.
- 17:52I could see his point.
- 17:53It could definitely be misunderstood,
- 17:55for sure.
- 17:56Yeah, easily.
- 17:57And especially, like you said,
- 17:58if somebody has absolutely no idea and is
- 18:00looking at it from the first time,
- 18:02and that's the perspective Hillary was
- 18:03taking on it, right?
- 18:07I know, brother.
- 18:09But you're looking at it for the first
- 18:11time.
- 18:11You have absolutely no idea what this is.
- 18:12And you're like,
- 18:13this is what somebody calls elite.
- 18:14This is an eight-year-old woman with a PVC
- 18:16pipe in her hand.
- 18:19If I look at my own experience,
- 18:21the day I walked into that CrossFit gym,
- 18:23I didn't know what CrossFit was.
- 18:25I never saw a video.
- 18:26I never saw a barbell.
- 18:29I never saw a PVC pipe.
- 18:30I never saw a muscle-up.
- 18:32When the first time Toaster Bar was put
- 18:34on the board,
- 18:34I had to look it up on YouTube.
- 18:37Like literally, like I knew nothing.
- 18:39It's only because the guy who owned the
- 18:42CrossFit gym was my next door neighbor.
- 18:44And he walked me in the door the
- 18:46first time to say,
- 18:47I want you to try this.
- 18:51So like,
- 18:51I was lucky enough that I didn't have
- 18:53to interpret a real or a commercial or
- 18:56a campaign saying, right.
- 18:59I was, I was pulled in.
- 19:03showed Murph on the board,
- 19:05wanted to throw up,
- 19:06and if I could have run,
- 19:09I would have run as fast as I
- 19:11could out of the door.
- 19:13Just three, two, one,
- 19:14go over that first mile,
- 19:15and Scott just runs back to his house.
- 19:18But then to be told, hey,
- 19:20you can do a version of this just
- 19:22like the rest of us,
- 19:24and you're going to be sweating,
- 19:25and you're going to get a great workout,
- 19:28and then we'll talk about it afterwards.
- 19:31And that's how I was indoctrined.
- 19:34It wasn't through a reel or through.
- 19:37And I think that's why a lot of
- 19:39stuff is missing the mark now.
- 19:41The original way we got people into the
- 19:43gym was grassroots.
- 19:47It wasn't that people got fired up by
- 19:49watching a reel or a commercial.
- 19:54Now you do have the handful of people
- 19:55you hear.
- 19:56I started watching the documentaries and
- 19:59it made me interested.
- 20:00So I looked up, uh, whatever,
- 20:02but the documentaries are an hour long,
- 20:08right?
- 20:14An experienced coach would never allow
- 20:16that.
- 20:16Scott,
- 20:16did they actually have you do a full
- 20:18Murph on day one at
- 20:22Jody, no.
- 20:22He said,
- 20:24you're going to do a version of this
- 20:27that you can do and you're going to
- 20:29sweat and you're going to feel it and
- 20:30you're going to know that you worked hard
- 20:33and then we're going to talk about it
- 20:34afterwards.
- 20:37And actually CrossFit did a documentary on
- 20:39me and we talk about that first day
- 20:42and I actually redid the version I did
- 20:46on the video.
- 20:51Murph was not my first workout,
- 20:53but Murph was my third week there.
- 20:58And I had no idea like how devastating
- 21:00it actually could be that, uh,
- 21:05that was an interesting time.
- 21:08Vicki says, we don't know on each reel,
- 21:10what the target is or what they're wanting
- 21:12to accomplish with each one,
- 21:14either the way they've been approaching
- 21:16messaging.
- 21:16There seems to be a glimmer of reason
- 21:19underneath.
- 21:25It took killer to point it out to
- 21:26me.
- 21:26Like there is no action item on any
- 21:28of the stuff that's going out there.
- 21:30There is no, what do I do?
- 21:32What, how do I get this?
- 21:35They seem like movie trailers, right?
- 21:40Like it's a bunch of highlight clips of
- 21:43people doing cool stuff, sweating,
- 21:45breathing hard, good lighting, right?
- 21:47It looks like a Michael Bay, uh, uh,
- 21:50scene or whatnot, uh,
- 21:52But yeah,
- 21:53there's no go check out your local
- 21:56affiliate.
- 21:57Just Forging Elite Fitness.
- 22:00Fuck the quick fix.
- 22:03Whichever one they got thrown out at the
- 22:08time for that particular one, this one.
- 22:10Forging Elite Fitness.
- 22:11Awesome.
- 22:13No further instructions.
- 22:18Yeah.
- 22:18Well,
- 22:18I do want to touch on a couple
- 22:19other things before.
- 22:21And this has to be a short show
- 22:22because I have a one o'clock meeting.
- 22:24I tried to get out of it.
- 22:25I begged, but they said it was essential.
- 22:29So I have to be there at one
- 22:30o'clock.
- 22:32So we have about fifteen minutes max to
- 22:34go.
- 22:34Go for it.
- 22:36I had to change into work clothes for
- 22:37the meeting.
- 22:40So stupid.
- 22:43It was announced that Austin Hatfield has
- 22:45withdrawn from the WFP.
- 22:47That's another one.
- 22:49I just got a text from Holly.
- 22:51You ready?
- 22:52Hold on.
- 22:54This is my shock face.
- 22:56Yeah.
- 23:00You mean to tell me since his girlfriend's
- 23:01not going and it's three days before
- 23:02Christmas, he's not going to Copenhagen?
- 23:06Hmm.
- 23:09I find that so shockingly hard to believe.
- 23:13Um, yeah,
- 23:16so there are rumors out there that a
- 23:20couple other big names are on the verge
- 23:22of making that announcement as well.
- 23:25If those are true.
- 23:27unless the we talked about yesterday
- 23:32they're willing to look at themselves in
- 23:33the mirror and say we've got to change
- 23:35we've got to pivot i think the nails
- 23:37are in the coffin and if they make
- 23:41it through copenhagen it will be an
- 23:45accomplishment well make it through
- 23:48copenhagen with any non uh european
- 23:52athletes
- 23:56Well,
- 23:56their one big selling point is that they
- 23:58have the best field.
- 24:02Well, as most are now not going,
- 24:07they don't have that argument anymore.
- 24:11Slightly, just slightly.
- 24:15You act like Austin Hadley,
- 24:16some fantastic athlete or something like
- 24:18that.
- 24:19I mean,
- 24:20Well, it's Jason Hopper, Austin Hatfield.
- 24:22I know, brother.
- 24:23And the people that are floating out there
- 24:26that are coming next are just as big.
- 24:29They're coming.
- 24:30They are coming.
- 24:32Give them some time.
- 24:33They are coming.
- 24:34That's a thing that is going to happen.
- 24:36Jamie and I were texting this morning,
- 24:38totally disagreeing on everything.
- 24:43I don't know.
- 24:43I think there's a way that if they
- 24:45would self-reflect and pivot,
- 24:48they could make it.
- 24:50And I think I have an idea,
- 24:51but I need more time on a show
- 24:52to be able to talk about it.
- 24:55Or they could just keep throwing money at
- 24:58it.
- 24:58I mean,
- 24:59that seems to be working pretty well so
- 25:01far.
- 25:01No, it's not working.
- 25:03And I think they're realizing that people
- 25:08aren't in this just for money.
- 25:12Somebody said it the other day,
- 25:13and I don't remember what comment I saw
- 25:15or where I saw it at,
- 25:16but somebody said it's never been about
- 25:17the money.
- 25:20It's about being crowned the fittest on
- 25:22Earth.
- 25:23Period.
- 25:25Money's nice.
- 25:26There can be other entities,
- 25:27like Rogue is a popular entity.
- 25:29Waterpalooza is a popular entity.
- 25:31There's a way to be a successful entity
- 25:33in this ecosystem and not be for the
- 25:37fittest on Earth.
- 25:40It's just,
- 25:40are they willing to take the steps to
- 25:42get there?
- 25:45Legos, baby boy, Legos.
- 25:46Yeah.
- 25:46Right on.
- 25:53Uh, this is what I wanted to share.
- 25:58Um,
- 25:59so yesterday spin posted this and is this
- 26:06the new mayhem team?
- 26:09I saw that I skimmed over it and
- 26:11then I was trying to,
- 26:12cause I wanted to go see who they,
- 26:13who those people are.
- 26:15And then I got caught up doing something
- 26:18else.
- 26:18Who are those people?
- 26:20can't see it so part of them were
- 26:22on another mayhem team um last year that
- 26:26finished eleventh um lindsay lane is like
- 26:30the newest person on this picture and
- 26:32you'll know her from crash um crossfit
- 26:36crashed she works out there she's done
- 26:38some open announcements um with against
- 26:41fee um but what's crazy is my intel
- 26:46which i thought was pretty reliable was a
- 26:48completely different team than this
- 26:53Nope.
- 26:53Well, I mean, to be fair.
- 26:55Because I thought my intel was pretty
- 26:56reliable on this.
- 27:03And the resume of the team that I
- 27:06heard was better than what this is here.
- 27:11So I'm, I don't know, man.
- 27:15I'm confused.
- 27:15To be fair, it's pretty damn accurate.
- 27:19Yeah.
- 27:20To be fair,
- 27:20Mayhem has like forty three teams at the
- 27:22games.
- 27:23So.
- 27:23Right.
- 27:23But they can only have one in-house team.
- 27:26OK.
- 27:26We'll stay the same from last year.
- 27:34Back on that,
- 27:35WFP Rogue was a respected brand in the
- 27:37game for over a decade before creating an
- 27:39invitational team.
- 27:47Um, stop trying to put it process.
- 27:50What a Palooza created its own thing.
- 27:51Right.
- 27:52And I, and it wasn't a respected brand.
- 27:55Hell,
- 27:55I still don't even know if they're like
- 27:57totally respected.
- 27:59You talk to athletes right after like,
- 28:00man, what a shit show that was.
- 28:02But yet they come back the next year.
- 28:04It's every time.
- 28:06So every time somebody's got something to
- 28:08say about it.
- 28:09Nobody's ever come back from Rogue,
- 28:11even with the beat down that they got
- 28:12this year.
- 28:13It was like, that sucked.
- 28:15It's always like, holy shit,
- 28:16that was cool.
- 28:18It's never happened.
- 28:19Or if it has,
- 28:20it hasn't been public enough where
- 28:21everybody could find out about it.
- 28:23Water Palooza is a different story.
- 28:25It was raining the entire time.
- 28:26They changed the workout in the middle of
- 28:28it to where it didn't make any sense.
- 28:31whatever ended up happening,
- 28:33like the movies moved while they were
- 28:34swimming.
- 28:34So we've had like people swam different
- 28:36distances.
- 28:37All of that's happened at Waterpalooza.
- 28:39People complain about it and they go back
- 28:41the next year.
- 28:44Yeah.
- 28:44So back on the man thing,
- 28:45I'm just going to watch that pretty close.
- 28:47Um,
- 28:51There was an announcement that twenty six
- 28:52point one,
- 28:53twenty six point two have been flipped.
- 28:55So twenty six point one will be at
- 28:57the airfield.
- 29:02Yeah.
- 29:02And twenty six point two will be in
- 29:04Europe.
- 29:05Yep.
- 29:05I didn't realize,
- 29:07but twenty six point two is over Arnold
- 29:09weekend here in Columbus.
- 29:12So that's going to be wild.
- 29:13I don't think so.
- 29:18the last thing, gosh, I'm,
- 29:20I hate running out of time.
- 29:21I hate when I have one o'clock meetings.
- 29:23Um, the last thing I,
- 29:25Lucy was awesome on Savan this morning.
- 29:28Please go catch that.
- 29:30What I loved is when Savan asked her
- 29:32the question, um,
- 29:34about if Tia isn't at the games,
- 29:36is it the same if you win?
- 29:38And she was like, absolutely not.
- 29:40And that's what I've been arguing on this
- 29:43channel forever,
- 29:44that a champion's mindset isn't,
- 29:47I'm looking for the hole to win.
- 29:49It's I want to beat the best to
- 29:50win.
- 29:52Whether it be Laura, whether it be Lucy,
- 29:53whether it be Alex Kazan,
- 29:56whether it be Olivia Kerstetter.
- 29:59And you don't get as good as they
- 30:02are
- 30:05You don't get as good as they are
- 30:06without the mindset that you want to beat
- 30:07the best.
- 30:11And I love that response.
- 30:14You have to have the drive,
- 30:17the determination, the target,
- 30:20and the target to aim at because that's
- 30:23the standard.
- 30:26That is the standard.
- 30:27And right now it doesn't matter what men's
- 30:29or women's Tia is the standard.
- 30:30So if you are competing in the women's
- 30:32field and you have to, first of all,
- 30:34believe you can beat her.
- 30:36And secondly, have the desire to be.
- 30:38Both things.
- 30:40They have to go hand in hand.
- 30:41They can't, they can't be separate from,
- 30:42from one another.
- 30:43You have to say,
- 30:44I am going to beat her and I
- 30:46want to beat her.
- 30:48I want to win while she's there.
- 30:51And that it means a whole lot more
- 30:53if I beat her.
- 30:54Oh, my God.
- 30:54Yes, of course it does.
- 30:56She came back and said,
- 30:57I want to win the games regardless,
- 31:00but I don't want to have questions about
- 31:02it when it's done.
- 31:05Did I just win because she wasn't here?
- 31:07Correct.
- 31:09She wants to win,
- 31:10and it means that she won.
- 31:12She beat everybody who was there and the
- 31:14best.
- 31:17I thought that was gold.
- 31:20I keep going back to...
- 31:23at the ranch, Jeff Adler saying,
- 31:26I don't give a shit who wins the
- 31:27next event so long as it's not him
- 31:29pointing that mad phrase.
- 31:33Because he wanted to beat him.
- 31:35I don't care who else it is.
- 31:38I want to win.
- 31:39Sorry, Seve.
- 31:41It's very difficult to understand the
- 31:43cowboy at two X. I already talk fast.
- 31:46We're going to train the cowboy to talk
- 31:47at point five.
- 31:49Good luck with that.
- 31:53It's just win, man.
- 31:56Are they really going to miss you in
- 31:57the meeting?
- 31:59Probably not,
- 32:00but I'm too close to retirement to F
- 32:05up my job at this point.
- 32:10Do you think that'll happen the first few
- 32:11years after Tia retires?
- 32:13Like, great job,
- 32:14but you wouldn't have beaten Tia two years
- 32:16ago.
- 32:18I think it happened with Fraser.
- 32:19It definitely happened with Matt.
- 32:21And it happened to Matt with Rich.
- 32:25You never beat Rich.
- 32:29So yeah, it's going to happen.
- 32:31And that's why I think people want to
- 32:33take their shot while it's available.
- 32:38One percent.
- 32:40Six years from now, it won't matter.
- 32:43Probably.
- 32:44Let's be honest here.
- 32:47However, right now, it matters.
- 32:52Absolutely matters.
- 32:53Yes.
- 32:53Ben Smith in twenty fifteen.
- 32:56It is just a natural thing.
- 32:57It's still happening to basketball players
- 32:59today about Michael Jordan.
- 33:02Kobe Bryant.
- 33:02Kobe's been gone from the planet for years
- 33:06now.
- 33:07Yeah, but you couldn't be Kobe.
- 33:08Yeah, but you couldn't be Jordan.
- 33:12Michael Jordan, sixty three years old.
- 33:15And people are still talking about him
- 33:16like that.
- 33:17It's that it's that it's
- 33:20Forgot what they were asking him about,
- 33:22but, like,
- 33:22do you think your team could beat whatever
- 33:25team, like, was out there now, like,
- 33:27the best team?
- 33:27He said, I think it'd be close,
- 33:29but I think we could probably beat them.
- 33:31He said, well, you think it'd be close?
- 33:32He said, yeah, I mean,
- 33:33most of us are in our fifties now.
- 33:36Like,
- 33:37that's a champion mindset right there,
- 33:39right?
- 33:39Like, yeah, I mean, like,
- 33:41we'd go play them right now if you
- 33:42want.
- 33:45Yeah.
- 33:45Good point.
- 33:46It's like when an aging boxer finally gets
- 33:48beat,
- 33:48did you really beat them or did age
- 33:50beat them?
- 33:50I guess as an athlete,
- 33:51you have to be okay with that.
- 33:53That is exactly it.
- 33:57If nobody beats her head to head at
- 33:59the games,
- 34:00I'm not talking about rogue or somewhere
- 34:01else where, you know,
- 34:03Because the games is all that matters.
- 34:05Nobody beats her at the games head to
- 34:06head.
- 34:07Whoever, every person that came in second,
- 34:09that came in third, that came within shot,
- 34:11they're going to have that in the back
- 34:13of their heads forever.
- 34:14It's like, oh man, I could have just,
- 34:16you know,
- 34:16could have made a couple adjustments here.
- 34:18You know,
- 34:18maybe if I went a little bit faster
- 34:20there, whatever the case there,
- 34:21people are doing it now.
- 34:22I guarantee you.
- 34:25Once she's retired, it's done.
- 34:28she's actually retired i should say when
- 34:29she finally fully when her percent retires
- 34:32it's over with at that point people did
- 34:35the same thing for rich people did the
- 34:37same thing for matt they're still talking
- 34:40that rich can be yeah today field today
- 34:44on a totally screwed up knee and it's
- 34:50it's ridiculous
- 34:53Talking about, I think he'd be top five,
- 34:56top seven.
- 34:57And you go ask him, and he's like,
- 34:59y'all are crazy.
- 35:01Even Rich thinks they're insane.
- 35:03But people, they saw what he did.
- 35:05And they see what he's still doing.
- 35:07It's not like the dude's unfit.
- 35:12you know,
- 35:13just started hunting fricking whatever
- 35:15he's hunting nowadays, moose,
- 35:17God only knows what, and started,
- 35:18had developed a drinking problem.
- 35:20Now as a beer belly,
- 35:21the dude is still incredibly fit.
- 35:24It's ridiculous.
- 35:26He still places super high in the open
- 35:29because he still does it.
- 35:30I mean, come on, man.
- 35:33That's if he takes you open, seriously,
- 35:34a couple of times he's scaled the open
- 35:36workouts.
- 35:37Yeah.
- 35:38Because something was bothering him.
- 35:40right and he's that's earned at this point
- 35:44four individual sixteen or seventeen
- 35:47something like that yeah i mean come on
- 35:50dude he can he can afford to you
- 35:53know what i'm gonna go ahead and scale
- 35:58this one because my knee's about to fall
- 35:59off like yeah you deserve that all right
- 36:04guys well i hate to end this so
- 36:05soon
- 36:06But I got to go get my dress
- 36:08shirt on, log into a meeting,
- 36:12do my thing.
- 36:14Thank you so much for listening.
- 36:15We appreciate you all.
- 36:18I can't wait to talk to you tomorrow.
- 36:19I still got stuff on my list I
- 36:20want to talk about.
- 36:22Thank you for Tyler for jumping in and
- 36:24defending your point.
- 36:25Appreciate you, T. Watkins.
- 36:27And Hiller for being a translator between
- 36:29the two.
- 36:30Yeah, good job, Hiller.
- 36:33With that,
- 36:34we'll see everybody next time on Lunch
- 36:37with Clydesdale.
- 36:39Bye guys.
