- 0:00SPEAKER_05: There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow.
- 0:04SPEAKER_05: Shining at the end of every day.
- 0:08SPEAKER_05: There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow.
- 0:12SPEAKER_05: Just a dream.
- 0:16SPEAKER_02: Hello and welcome to Of Mice and Main Street Men.
- 0:20SPEAKER_02: I am Sean, and there is no Tristan this week.
- 0:23SPEAKER_02: I mean, there is.
- 0:24SPEAKER_02: He's just not here.
- 0:26SPEAKER_02: And neither is Jackie, and neither is Savannah.
- 0:28SPEAKER_02: But I am joined by two awesome human beings.
- 0:32SPEAKER_02: They they are my friends and clients who recently returned.
- 0:36SPEAKER_02: We have Jack.
- 0:37SPEAKER_02: Hello.
- 0:38SPEAKER_02: And Kayla.
- 0:39SPEAKER_05: Hi.
- 0:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I started to say your name, and I'm just like, wait, is that right?
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 0:43SPEAKER_02: Yes, it is.
- 0:45SPEAKER_02: So yeah, they they just got back, and I just wanted them to come on and because they did a couple of really, really cool things.
- 0:52SPEAKER_02: Um and so I just sort of wanted, you know, our audio visitors, as we call them, to hear kind of what what this trip was like.
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: So this was a birthday trip, yes.
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 1:03SPEAKER_02: Not your actual birthday.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: No, my actual birthday was in June, but you know, you gotta schedule some stuff out and find your vacation time.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, do.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: So we chose August.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: Well, well, the nice, nice weather choice for Florida.
- 1:17SPEAKER_02: Oh boy, was it hot.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: Uh, I bet.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: So, um, so that you you've both been several times before.
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: I've planned trips for you on various occasions.
- 1:27SPEAKER_02: Um, but what uh well, you you obviously did the Halloween party, which you'd done before, and I know you were kind of on the fence.
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, in the beginning.
- 1:37SPEAKER_02: Yes or no?
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: A little bit.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: We were like, is it gonna be different enough that we like want to do it again and again?
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: And it was definitely still very fun.
- 1:45SPEAKER_04: And I think too, because part of that was because the last time we did it was literally like two years ago, two and a half years ago.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: It's not that long.
- 1:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so cool.
- 1:55SPEAKER_02: And and uh you went in costume, I saw Anna and Christoph.
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: Yep, very cool.
- 2:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, those costumes were nice.
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: Did you borrow them from a local theatrical establishment?
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: So kind of.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: I actually I was uh in understudy for Anna in one of our local productions of Frozen, and as the understudy, we had our own set of costumes made.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: Nice, and so it was made for me, and I just very kindly asked if I might be able to purchase it after the fact, and they said yes.
- 2:25SPEAKER_02: Most theaters will sell those things, get a little recoup a little of their budget back.
- 2:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and then you just borrowed one for Jack.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Oh mine was from Amazon.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: I was about to say Jack thought of fun.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: Not quite of the caliber.
- 2:38SPEAKER_04: I was mostly concerned with staying cool.
- 2:41SPEAKER_04: So I wanted something that was thin.
- 2:43SPEAKER_02: Because man, yeah.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: August in Disney is just a little nuts.
- 2:47SPEAKER_04: It was 95 degrees every day.
- 2:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: So so just your basic time at Disney World, were there things there were a couple places you ate that you had not eaten before?
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: We really stepped up on the dining reservations.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: I I know you did.
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: I was up at I was up at the crack of dawn to help you.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: Much appreciated.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: It's what I do.
- 3:08SPEAKER_02: I love helping.
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, because where where all did you go that you hadn't been before?
- 3:13SPEAKER_04: Well, the first for the Halloween party, we started with um Beacon Barrel.
- 3:18SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: I recall that.
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah.
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: And and how was that?
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: Did you feel like that was a good choice to go in and like start there?
- 3:25SPEAKER_04: And um, I think uh this probably won't happen to people every time, but there was some miscommunication, I think, between us and the um the lovely cast members at the door with their iPads and whatever.
- 3:38SPEAKER_04: Um we ended up standing there for a while because, yeah, some sort of miscommunication, but someone ended up, they were like, Oh, well, since you guys have been, you know, I'll put you down for like a special seat.
- 3:48SPEAKER_04: Nice.
- 3:49SPEAKER_04: That's nice.
- 3:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and so we got right next to the fireplace, if you're familiar with the fireplace with the ships in a bottle on top of it.
- 3:57SPEAKER_02: Oh, cool.
- 3:57SPEAKER_02: And could you could you see uh what what's what's his name?
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: The parrot, who uh I could see them a little bit if I leaned out.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because we got we got stuck like behind that wall.
- 4:11SPEAKER_02: So make sure when you go to beacon barrel, you like sit at the bar or yeah, out in that open-ish area.
- 4:17SPEAKER_02: But but that's cool that you got to see the ship.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: What'd you order?
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: Did you have cocktail?
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: Did you have oh yeah, yes.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: I think we just did cocktails.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to remember.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: I got the margarita, but they call it like the margarita.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: Margarita.
- 4:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:30SPEAKER_04: And I can't remember what I had, but I didn't.
- 4:33SPEAKER_04: I swung by the uh gift shop to get the commemorative cup.
- 4:38SPEAKER_04: Oh man, that cup is so cool.
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: It's really cool.
- 4:40SPEAKER_02: It's really cool.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: But I but we are huge fans of the barrels ablaze.
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: And in fact, uh, did you try it?
- 4:47SPEAKER_02: It's the it's it's a bourbon-based cocktail with jalapeno, spicy, spicy bourbon.
- 4:53SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 4:53SPEAKER_02: Jackie, Jackie has meticulously worked her recipe to kind of recreate it because our server, our server told us, you know, really the secret is the Monin's hot honey is what they use that for the syrup.
- 5:06SPEAKER_02: And then of course they use, you know, whatever their bourbon is, and then uh we make ours now with lemon juice and jalapeno bitters to give it the kick.
- 5:16SPEAKER_02: So anyway, but you enjoyed it?
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: Yes, and you had a good margarita, yes.
- 5:20SPEAKER_02: Cool.
- 5:21SPEAKER_02: Uh, did you get any food?
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: Or did you just do a cocktail?
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: No, I think we just did cocktails for that night.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: We were kind of I don't know, we don't do this.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: We immediately went to the parks as soon as we got there before the Halloween party.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: Oh, likely landed, changed her clothes and went.
- 5:40SPEAKER_02: Wow, you are adventurous.
- 5:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I guess I didn't quite realize that was happening, or your travel agent might have warned you against it.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: It was still very, very fun.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, do recommend.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: But yeah, I think we were like, all right, we're here.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: Let's, you know, we have our reservation, that's the start of our night.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, let's go check out the rides and all the everything.
- 5:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: Uh what else, restaurant-wise, did you try?
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: Um, we did '50s prime time.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: Oh, right.
- 6:07SPEAKER_02: One of my personal favorites, but I was really good.
- 6:10SPEAKER_02: You did.
- 6:10SPEAKER_02: You had you had a good time.
- 6:12SPEAKER_02: What did you what did you have food-wise?
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: I got a big ol' Caesar salad.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 6:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:19SPEAKER_02: What did I get?
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: Meatloaf, pot roast.
- 6:21SPEAKER_02: I do the pot load roast.
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: Man, you're constantly doing my stuff, Chad.
- 6:26SPEAKER_05: Cool.
- 6:27SPEAKER_02: Um, because yeah, the pot roaster is just and then a few years ago they added like the sampler that's like a piece of fried chicken, a slice of meatloaf, and the pot roast.
- 6:37SPEAKER_02: Sometimes I'm tempted to do that, but uh, but cool.
- 6:41SPEAKER_02: And did you have a fun server?
- 6:43SPEAKER_02: I mean, was the dining room?
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: She was very nice.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: There the table next to us had a server that was very animated.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: And he had a very large party of working.
- 6:55SPEAKER_04: Yes, we did.
- 6:56SPEAKER_04: We got stickers.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: We did.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: We got the clean plate stickers.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: I'm very proud of that.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: Awesome.
- 7:01SPEAKER_02: Uh, did you have a milkshake by chance?
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: I got the chocolate peanut butter cake and it was really good.
- 7:06SPEAKER_02: Nice, but no peanut butter and jelly shake for you?
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: No.
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: That's all right.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: I'm not a big peanut butter jelly person.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: And you you did that as part of your the dining package, right?
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: Fantastic dining package.
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: How did you feel about that?
- 7:21SPEAKER_02: Did you like that choice?
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I really liked that.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:24SPEAKER_02: It was lovely.
- 7:25SPEAKER_02: Because what and what time did you get like to the amphitheater?
- 7:28SPEAKER_02: And you you guys were in the center section?
- 7:31SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 7:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that is what that is what I tell people about that dining package.
- 7:35SPEAKER_02: It's like it's the center that's reserved.
- 7:37SPEAKER_02: And even if you're near the top of the center, it just means you get out quicker.
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: But you've still got a great view.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: But I'm trying to remember, they gave you a window that you could show up in, and I can't remember if it was like an hour before showtime.
- 7:50SPEAKER_02: I think it starts an hour before, and they're like, well, everybody's got to be in like 15 minutes before.
- 7:55SPEAKER_02: Or is it a half hour before?
- 7:56SPEAKER_02: I have to go back and look.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: But we got there pretty close.
- 8:00SPEAKER_01: It wasn't the full hour before, but just a little bit after that.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: And there were, I mean, it's just two of us, so there were plenty of seats, even very close to the front.
- 8:08SPEAKER_04: I mean, we were still in the front half, if not closer.
- 8:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:11SPEAKER_02: Cool.
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: Well, it's probably so hot some people decided to go home.
- 8:16SPEAKER_02: Those non-courageous Midwestern strong stock people.
- 8:21SPEAKER_02: Um uh what else?
- 8:23SPEAKER_02: Oh, you did uh Geo82.
- 8:25SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 8:26SPEAKER_02: What did you what did you think of Geo82?
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: That was fun.
- 8:28SPEAKER_02: Did you do the bourbon flight?
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: No.
- 8:31SPEAKER_02: Oh, Jack.
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: Jack's really into like cocktails.
- 8:35SPEAKER_03: So you can have your eye on the yeah, what did you have?
- 8:39SPEAKER_03: Um well see, and now I can't remember if I had the menu in front of me.
- 8:44SPEAKER_02: It was delicious, is really what you're saying.
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and we uh we were able to grab like one of the ones before fireworks, right?
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: Yep, so we watched the fireworks.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: And what did you think of that from up there?
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: That was it was really cool.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: I missed a little bit getting to see what was happening on the water because you couldn't see that quite as well, but you could see the fireworks really well.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 9:06SPEAKER_04: And I assume too, this is another thing where depending on your party size and if you know somebody or something, um, you know, they because they sat us at the bar.
- 9:18SPEAKER_04: And so when the show started, we had to kind of like turn our chairs around.
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because yeah, we were lucky.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: We got seated like right behind the people who were paying to do the fancy dessert thing.
- 9:29SPEAKER_02: So we were sort of in the middle, just a few tables back, and so we had a really great view about but they you know they pipe all the sound in, so you hear it just like it is out there, and I they ripped my heart out because Jack knows this.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: I'm very moved by the music of Disney.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: It's it's just always in my brain, and it I cry out literally everything.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: Me too.
- 9:51SPEAKER_02: It was they were doing so does Tristan.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: Yes, they were doing the whole theme, you know, the Epcot theme where it's like we are one people and we have like universal experiences, even though we're different.
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: And they were talking about like sometimes you're gonna go through hard stuff in life.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: And they started playing When Somebody Loves Me or Loved Me from Toy Story, yeah, mixed with Remember Me from Coco.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: Oh, right.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: And I said, Are you like you just weren't really this is like a sob.
- 10:15SPEAKER_02: This is a mashup of horrible, horrible things to give us.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: But yeah.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: So I might have been like crying in the bar, but you know, that's okay.
- 10:23SPEAKER_02: Well, that Disney music, it I mean, Jackie was uh admitted freely that like through happy or not happiness, through World of Color One, which they created for the 100th anniversary, and then it had been gone forever and had just come back when we were there.
- 10:39SPEAKER_02: She she sobbed a lot through that too.
- 10:42SPEAKER_02: It's just they know they know how to inspire, they know how to tug at your heartstrings and make you feel like things are gonna turn out okay in general.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: So well, yay, and then what else?
- 10:56SPEAKER_02: Uh you did Cinderella's royal table.
- 10:58SPEAKER_02: Oh, we did.
- 10:58SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: We hadn't done that before.
- 11:00SPEAKER_02: And what it how did you feel about that?
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: I liked it a lot.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: Breakfast was fun.
- 11:04SPEAKER_04: The menu wasn't like super extensive by any means, but but also I don't know if it's if it had been full of a bunch of weird breakfast options, you wouldn't have really liked it.
- 11:15SPEAKER_02: Well, that's that's that's fair.
- 11:17SPEAKER_02: Um, did you get to meet many princesses?
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: Yes, they had four.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: Uh so jasmine, Merida, Aurora, and Ariel were the four that were at ours.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 11:29SPEAKER_02: Cindy was downstairs just.
- 11:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Cindy was downstairs.
- 11:31SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 11:32SPEAKER_02: We got to meet her coming in.
- 11:33SPEAKER_02: And you had your picture taken.
- 11:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 11:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's a nice little perk of the royal table.
- 11:38SPEAKER_04: And they even did two, like, I don't know, if it was as the princesses were maybe on their way out for a bit, or if people were starting to leave, but they even were like, hey, if you haven't gotten to see a princess, wave us down and we'll send them over to you.
- 11:51SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 11:52SPEAKER_02: Well, at those prices, they should.
- 11:54SPEAKER_02: You should get a little princess Face time if you're doing that.
- 11:58SPEAKER_02: Um, were there any other things that you did while you were there that were like other aside from what we're gonna talk about in a minute, which was your your big VIP day.
- 12:07SPEAKER_02: But uh what else?
- 12:10SPEAKER_02: It was just a familiar trip back to Disney.
- 12:14SPEAKER_04: Well, it was our first time at uh Wilderness Lounge.
- 12:17SPEAKER_04: Oh, right, right.
- 12:18SPEAKER_04: And how did you how did you like that?
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: It was very nice.
- 12:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:22SPEAKER_04: Um I think uh Um I think one of the things we missed a little bit of Port Orleans was the um the easier dining situation down there.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: Because you stayed at Riverside before, right?
- 12:39SPEAKER_02: Or poor or did you stay French Quarter?
- 12:41SPEAKER_02: Riverside Riverside.
- 12:42SPEAKER_02: It's just a little more chill.
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:45SPEAKER_02: Um, but and the beignets are closer, which is always a plus.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: Um did you ever ride the boat from the wilderness to the Magic Kingdom?
- 12:55SPEAKER_02: That's uh because I I that's one of those cool things that I'm like, this is cool.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: It's like not crushed with people.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: So yes, that's definitely a perk of any of those lake, those lake places.
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we used to stay there quite a bit until DVC came along and the beach club is our home resort now.
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: So being able to walk to France in like 10 minutes is from your hotel.
- 13:20SPEAKER_02: Can't really beat it.
- 13:21SPEAKER_02: That's a perk.
- 13:22SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 13:22SPEAKER_02: So uh your last day there, I was able to set you up with a VIP tour and talk me through what that was like.
- 13:32SPEAKER_02: I mean, uh you were talking to them before you went, right?
- 13:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:35SPEAKER_02: How did that go?
- 13:36SPEAKER_04: Um, well, so if you ever find yourself doing a VIP tour, be prepared for them to call you because I wasn't, and just assumed that I was getting a spam call and ignored it.
- 13:49SPEAKER_04: Oh no, yeah, but you figured that out and you talked to them.
- 13:53SPEAKER_04: So and what kind of things were they asking?
- 13:55SPEAKER_04: Um I think they were trying to get a feel for the different things that we wanted to do just so they could talk to the our tour guide in advance so they'd come up with a plan before we even showed up.
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 14:07SPEAKER_04: Um, but then also if um anyone had any mobility concerns or anything like that.
- 14:12SPEAKER_04: So that's things they want to know.
- 14:14SPEAKER_02: Dietary issues that they could steer you around and stuff.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: Um, and what did you tell them?
- 14:20SPEAKER_04: Uh well, we ran I ran down a list of we kind of we had to do a little powwow between the two of us first.
- 14:27SPEAKER_04: That's good for those married couples to sit down and pow wow about their Disney adventures.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: Um so we looked at uh the first couple things that we mentioned were some of the rides that we like never get to do because the you know the um the weights ones the weights and the and even with the lightning lane, like we booked the lightning lane and they go so fast, or like by the time you can book it, it's hours and hours away, and you're like, well, yeah, yeah.
- 14:55SPEAKER_04: So what were those?
- 14:56SPEAKER_04: Like Seven Dwarves, Seven Dwarfs?
- 14:59SPEAKER_04: So we started in Magic Kingdom, right?
- 15:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:02SPEAKER_04: So Seven Dwarves, Minecart, um Tiana's Bayou Adventure.
- 15:07SPEAKER_04: Tiana's Bayou Adventure and Big Thunder Mountain.
- 15:09SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 15:10SPEAKER_01: We had never gone to do any of those.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: Because they always have like the longest lines.
- 15:15SPEAKER_02: And how did you feel walking in there with your little tour guide?
- 15:18SPEAKER_02: And very special.
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: Magical to them.
- 15:21SPEAKER_02: Do they take you in the exit usually?
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: So it depends on the ride.
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: They can always, so they'll either always get you into the lightning lane at least.
- 15:30SPEAKER_01: So you either get badged into just the lightning lane and you wait with everybody else, but you're on there quicker, or some of them they can take you in like a back way that pretty much takes you right up to the ride.
- 15:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah, there are a few of them.
- 15:43SPEAKER_04: I think uh we did Pirates of the Caribbean just because we love Pirates of the Caribbean.
- 15:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:48SPEAKER_04: And that one they took us like through the back, like just past some dumpsters and stuff.
- 15:54SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 15:55SPEAKER_04: And you got the full screen.
- 15:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:59SPEAKER_04: And then yeah, we walked in the back door, and literally there was, I don't even know where the regular line was because they just sat us immediately on a on a little car.
- 16:08SPEAKER_02: So awesome.
- 16:09SPEAKER_02: So uh and I guess jumping back, you so you met them like down by City Hall in Magic Kingdom when it was because you went to breakfast at the royal table first, right?
- 16:18SPEAKER_04: So that was one thing too.
- 16:20SPEAKER_04: Um, when they called me and they offered, they were like, Oh, we can have a car pick you up at the resort if you want.
- 16:26SPEAKER_04: And I said, Well, we're doing breakfast at Cinderella's.
- 16:28SPEAKER_04: Cinderella's and then they said, Oh, well, then I'll just move your pickup location to the right outside of so we met our tour guide right in front of the restaurant, essentially.
- 16:39SPEAKER_02: So cool.
- 16:39SPEAKER_02: And and so you did the Magic Kingdom stuff, and then what happened?
- 16:44SPEAKER_04: Well, I guess we weren't, you know, since we'd never done one of these before, we weren't sure exactly, you know, how quickly I guess we were gonna get through everything.
- 16:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 16:55SPEAKER_04: Um, and I assume with a party larger than two people, it probably takes longer.
- 16:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: But it's just two people, let me tell you, you can get through a lot of stuff.
- 17:03SPEAKER_04: We got through pretty much everything we wanted to at Magic Kingdom like by noon.
- 17:07SPEAKER_04: Great.
- 17:08SPEAKER_04: Um we got uh oh, we did Tron.
- 17:11SPEAKER_04: That was another one, right?
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but that's over in Oh wait.
- 17:14SPEAKER_04: No, that's sorry.
- 17:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's Magic Kingdom.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we have to do Tron finally.
- 17:18SPEAKER_04: Yes, um, which was really cool.
- 17:20SPEAKER_04: Awesome.
- 17:21SPEAKER_04: Um, yeah, and then uh oh, and then we said we'd like to uh oh jumping around now.
- 17:30SPEAKER_04: That's okay.
- 17:31SPEAKER_02: We do that a lot on this podcast.
- 17:33SPEAKER_02: They're used to it.
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: You're lucky if we don't run down eight spokes an episode.
- 17:38SPEAKER_04: So we did um Enchanted Tales with Bell.
- 17:42SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, that was fun.
- 17:43SPEAKER_01: That was very sweet.
- 17:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, nice.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: Just us and a giant group of kids.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 17:49SPEAKER_04: And uh and our tour guide, Casey.
- 17:51SPEAKER_04: Shout out to Casey.
- 17:52SPEAKER_02: That's cast members well, and it takes a while before you work your way up to VIP guide.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: We got all the info.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: She's worked at Disney for eight years.
- 18:02SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 18:02SPEAKER_01: Um, and she's been a tour guide for a little bit, but she did the college program and then works retail and worked a lot of stuff.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: But you do like it's a big application, it's a big training process.
- 18:14SPEAKER_04: You some of it is just driving between all the parks.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: So you know where you're going.
- 18:20SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: Uh and she said part of their like test is they take another person that's already a tour guide, and then that person can invite like their friends and family, and then you take them around as their tour guide, and then they like take notes and you know stuff for you.
- 18:34SPEAKER_02: That's cool.
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 18:37SPEAKER_02: So, okay, so you finished up at the Magic Kingdom.
- 18:40SPEAKER_04: Yes, we did.
- 18:41SPEAKER_04: We did a we got to do the VIP spot for one of the parades.
- 18:45SPEAKER_04: Nice.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: It's just on top of the train station.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: Oh, cool.
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: Block it off so you can see it coming down Main Street and then it circles and that's cool.
- 18:53SPEAKER_02: That's where my grandparents and I always tried to like stay, because they'd like they they were more than happy to go sit on a bench up there like two and a half hours before the main street electrical parade, just so we had those places.
- 19:06SPEAKER_02: But yeah, that's a prime viewing location.
- 19:08SPEAKER_02: So cool.
- 19:09SPEAKER_04: So you got to sit up there and then and then we decided to go to Epcot um because we had already done two days at Hollywood.
- 19:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 19:21SPEAKER_04: Um and we'd already done one day at Animal Kingdom.
- 19:24SPEAKER_04: So we went back to Epcot, and uh that was really cool because we got to go out the back of the park somewhere.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: And they drive you.
- 19:35SPEAKER_04: There was we walked out, you know.
- 19:37SPEAKER_04: Wow, there's a and then uh a wall that says cast members only, and they hold the chain open for us, and we walked back into this big parking.
- 19:45SPEAKER_04: Casey had to have a driving component to her test.
- 19:48SPEAKER_04: And there was a car already sitting there, air conditioned.
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: Already air conditioned.
- 19:52SPEAKER_02: Wow, that's that's VIP in the summer Florida for you.
- 19:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and then yeah, she drove us to Epcot and we parked directly behind um Guardians Guardians.
- 20:04SPEAKER_04: Oh wow.
- 20:05SPEAKER_04: We got out of the car and there was a lovely person there with snacks for us.
- 20:09SPEAKER_04: Oh wow, what were the snacks?
- 20:11SPEAKER_04: Like pre-packaged.
- 20:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that one was like Oreos, chips, and stuff, but like a little backtrack.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: But when we were waiting for the parade, they were like, We had popcorn, we'll get you any ice cream bar you want.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: We got water up here.
- 20:22SPEAKER_01: Like, didn't we?
- 20:23SPEAKER_02: Did you get a Mickey bar?
- 20:24SPEAKER_02: Did you get a Mickey ice cream sandwich?
- 20:25SPEAKER_01: Did you I got the Mickey bar?
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 20:27SPEAKER_02: I I had not been uh really truly acquainted with the Mickey Bar until we did a couple of Moonlight Magic events, which is the DVC night where you get in free and the food is free and not all the food, and they've gotten chinsier, but it's unlimited Mickey bars, and I was like, oh, these are good.
- 20:46SPEAKER_02: No wonder people are talking about these.
- 20:48SPEAKER_02: So yeah, well, cool.
- 20:49SPEAKER_02: So you got snacks, then what then she walked us right on to Guardians.
- 20:54SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 20:54SPEAKER_02: Wow, I'm not sure ice cream right before Guardians would be a good choice.
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: That was one of the things is they offered us so much food throughout the day.
- 21:03SPEAKER_01: That's pretty cool.
- 21:04SPEAKER_01: And we ended up having to like turn food down because I was like, well, we're gonna go on all these roller coasters and I don't want to throw up.
- 21:10SPEAKER_04: No, no, you don't.
- 21:12SPEAKER_04: And of course, we started with breakfast too.
- 21:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, a meal.
- 21:17SPEAKER_02: Because they don't, I mean, so did you just snack and had no lunch, lunch?
- 21:22SPEAKER_02: Pretty much, basically.
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: Cool.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: Big breakfast kind of covers, yeah.
- 21:26SPEAKER_02: What was your what was your tune on Guardians?
- 21:28SPEAKER_02: Do you remember?
- 21:29SPEAKER_02: It was okay, so if it was September, I'm gonna be really upset.
- 21:33SPEAKER_02: We've never gotten September.
- 21:34SPEAKER_02: We never had like September.
- 21:36SPEAKER_02: We can't see the same one over and over again.
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: The first time the first couple times we went, we got one way or another.
- 21:43SPEAKER_02: Everybody wants to rule the world.
- 21:46SPEAKER_02: No, I sometimes I confuse my girlfriend.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: We had to look it up because we couldn't uh oh we got Conga one time.
- 21:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Conga was a really good one.
- 21:54SPEAKER_02: I got Congo was a good one.
- 21:55SPEAKER_02: I've gotten that one a few times.
- 21:56SPEAKER_02: It's fun.
- 21:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: Um, and Casey told us this was a Tour guide, uh fun fact because I just wanted to know all about their jobs.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: Um, and she's so Guardians is one where they can only get you in the lightning lane.
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: They don't take you up.
- 22:09SPEAKER_01: So you're just in the lightning lane with everybody else.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: Um and she said, Guardians is the universal one that most tour guides hate to wait in line.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: So on a lot of the rides, they'll come with you.
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: So while we were waiting in line, she was with us all the way through the lightning lane until we got to the ride.
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: It's like getting on the ride.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:29SPEAKER_01: And she said it's just so like narrow and cramped.
- 22:32SPEAKER_04: And then in uh transport room, everyone, you know, they all portion.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: And she she said they can't really be associated with that.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: Um, and so instead she offered to get a Starbucks.
- 22:47SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: So she just, you know, went and got a Starbucks for KR.
- 22:52SPEAKER_02: Shout out to Casey, those VIP uh well, because I had friends who did this.
- 22:56SPEAKER_02: I I did a VIP at Disneyland a few years ago, like four or five years ago, because the our agency owner was had us there on a familiarization trip, and she sprung for the VIP tour.
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: And yeah, the cast members are just amazing.
- 23:11SPEAKER_02: And I had friends who booked a VIP on New Year's Day this year, and they absolutely loved it.
- 23:18SPEAKER_02: They said, This is the way to go, and this is the way to do Disney.
- 23:21SPEAKER_02: So um, but yeah, I'm sorry, what were you starting to say?
- 23:24SPEAKER_02: You see, we um so Casey, oh, you were talking about the line at Guardians and how so she went and got Starbucks.
- 23:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, she says that's their like universal hack.
- 23:33SPEAKER_04: Everyone pretty much does.
- 23:34SPEAKER_04: They badge the they badge the tour in and then I'll go get you some co-I'll get you some coffee.
- 23:39SPEAKER_02: So and she took your your order and just wow, and then that's awesome.
- 23:44SPEAKER_04: Every you know, we were getting on more rides after that, and she'd hold it for us.
- 23:48SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, holding the drinks while we're riding.
- 23:50SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 23:50SPEAKER_02: What is so what did you do after Guardians?
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: Well, I know at one point we met Anna and Elsa.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: We did Frozen Ever After.
- 23:59SPEAKER_02: We got to cut the line with Anna and Elsa.
- 24:01SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 24:02SPEAKER_01: Okay, so that's a thing.
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: So if you are if you're meeting the characters in a space, not the ones that just happen to be outside, but ones that have a designated area, your tour guide actually has to book a specific time slot.
- 24:16SPEAKER_01: So they have their own like phones with all the info and then go in and they book a slot.
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: And the slot is like between when they let regular people in.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: So like there's just a tiny break.
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: So you come in a totally different door from the other side, and it's just you and them, and you get a little bit longer time before they start like the regular line again.
- 24:37SPEAKER_02: Nice.
- 24:38SPEAKER_02: Ugh.
- 24:38SPEAKER_01: So that was nice, cool.
- 24:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, uh, so you saw Anna and Elsa and you did Frozen Ever After.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: Uh, we did Ratatouille.
- 24:46SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: Uh we we had to go on Spaceship Earth because it was broken down the whole first day that we were at Epcot.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: Like it just kept breaking down and breaking down.
- 24:58SPEAKER_01: And we just it's not a trip to Epcot if you don't go on Spaceship Earth.
- 25:02SPEAKER_02: Well, and now you will be able to bid farewell to who's who narrates it now.
- 25:06SPEAKER_02: Oh, yes, uh Judy Dench.
- 25:08SPEAKER_02: Is it still Judy?
- 25:09SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 25:10SPEAKER_02: So yeah, if it if it if she sounds like a British woman, it's Judy Dench.
- 25:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 25:15SPEAKER_02: So yeah, because I guess it's getting a revamp in theory coming up.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: So we did that one just because we're like, well, we we have to.
- 25:23SPEAKER_04: We did um oh wait, where is that?
- 25:26SPEAKER_04: Magic Kingdom.
- 25:28SPEAKER_04: You tell me and I'll tell you.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:30SPEAKER_02: Um test track.
- 25:31SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we did we'd never done test track before.
- 25:34SPEAKER_02: Well, it's and like ever, ever?
- 25:36SPEAKER_02: Never.
- 25:37SPEAKER_02: So you had never done test track original or test track 2.0.
- 25:42SPEAKER_02: You just got test and what did you think of test track?
- 25:45SPEAKER_01: It was interesting.
- 25:46SPEAKER_01: I was not expecting how fast it goes outside compared to what the ride is inside.
- 25:52SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 25:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 25:53SPEAKER_01: But it I mean it was fun.
- 25:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:56SPEAKER_02: And and for those of us that remember test track one, it has some nice nods back to the original that that people get nostalgic for.
- 26:05SPEAKER_02: But um, cool.
- 26:07SPEAKER_02: So uh so it seems like you've been with Casey a long time.
- 26:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um seven hours.
- 26:12SPEAKER_02: Seven hours.
- 26:13SPEAKER_02: Seven hours, and so you wrapped up at Epcot with her.
- 26:18SPEAKER_04: Um, we did uh that that is another like great thing about all the tour guides.
- 26:25SPEAKER_04: They are so good about managing the time like down to minutes.
- 26:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 26:30SPEAKER_04: Um so we ended with her taking us back to our resort.
- 26:36SPEAKER_01: Um wow.
- 26:41SPEAKER_01: Because we were gonna regroup and go back to Magic Kingdom for the evening for fireworks and everything.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so she was like, Yeah, we can just take you back to your resort and got us two pretzels to take in the car on the way back.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: So we went back to our room and ate them on our little balcony.
- 26:56SPEAKER_02: Thanks, Casey.
- 26:58SPEAKER_02: Yay.
- 26:59SPEAKER_02: So, all in all, how was that experience?
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: Amazing.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, 10 out of 10.
- 27:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's you know, is is it an inexpensive day at Disney?
- 27:10SPEAKER_02: It is not.
- 27:11SPEAKER_02: There's a reason they're handing you Starbucks and other things, but but I uh my clients that did it in in January were like, we're spoiled now.
- 27:21SPEAKER_02: It's like to be able to walk onto attractions like this and just have them keep, you know, and be so good at what they do.
- 27:27SPEAKER_02: And it's yeah, it's amazing.
- 27:28SPEAKER_02: So so well, good.
- 27:30SPEAKER_02: And then you bid farewell to Disney, and you've done something that even I have not done yet, which is cruise on the destiny.
- 27:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:39SPEAKER_02: So, and was it a three-day, three night, four night, four night?
- 27:44SPEAKER_02: Good, because your travel agent should have told you that it should be a four night because we did three originally on the wish, and it was like, this is just not long enough to like even explore the ship and feel like we know it.
- 27:56SPEAKER_02: And then this year, when we went on the treasure for seven days, I was like, this is more like it, and we didn't, I didn't even get off a couple of the ports.
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: But so this was your first Disney cruise, right?
- 28:08SPEAKER_02: But not your first cruise.
- 28:09SPEAKER_02: You had been on Virgin before, had you been on other cruise ones?
- 28:13SPEAKER_02: Norwegian.
- 28:14SPEAKER_02: Norwegian.
- 28:15SPEAKER_02: So what were your first impressions of of a Disney cruise?
- 28:20SPEAKER_04: Well, the uh I would say the spectacle walking into the main room is is pretty cool.
- 28:27SPEAKER_02: Like the Grand Hall, where they announced the the the party and princesses wave from the balcony, and yeah.
- 28:36SPEAKER_02: And then what else?
- 28:39SPEAKER_01: It was I love, I mean, obviously, but just the the theming everywhere is really cool, and what they do with just all of the decor and how you can go to all these different little spaces that are all so different, but so thoroughly themed to whatever it is.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: Well, and the destiny does the grand hall go from like a hero version to a villain version at some point-ish?
- 29:03SPEAKER_01: It's the sides of the ship.
- 29:05SPEAKER_01: So one side is like the villain side, and then the other side is the hero side.
- 29:10SPEAKER_04: Aft is villains, and starboard or forward.
- 29:14SPEAKER_04: Forward is heroes.
- 29:15SPEAKER_04: Oh, cool.
- 29:16SPEAKER_04: And then I think they can maybe kind of meet in the middle of the room.
- 29:18SPEAKER_02: That's as it should be at the Grand Hall, yeah.
- 29:20SPEAKER_02: So uh what was your what was your first night of dining?
- 29:25SPEAKER_01: Oh, we had the Lion King uh dinner theater.
- 29:28SPEAKER_02: And how was that?
- 29:29SPEAKER_01: That was very good.
- 29:32SPEAKER_01: I felt a little bad for the performers because it was so loud and it didn't seem like a lot of people were like paying attention, paying attention, and I was like, these people are amazing.
- 29:44SPEAKER_02: We felt that way a little with the cocoa dining room on the treasure.
- 29:48SPEAKER_02: It's like these people are entertaining their hearts out up here.
- 29:52SPEAKER_02: Um, and even on the wish with Olaf running around on his dessert cart or whatever that thing is, it's like you know, that you've got some really talented people doing some amazing stuff.
- 30:04SPEAKER_02: So pay attention, people.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:06SPEAKER_02: But but so you you and how was the food?
- 30:09SPEAKER_00: It was good.
- 30:10SPEAKER_02: Food was good overall on the cruise or there, or how did how did you feel overall with the food?
- 30:17SPEAKER_02: I think that might have been my favorite of the three.
- 30:21SPEAKER_02: Cool.
- 30:21SPEAKER_02: Cause then uh, because what did you think of rotational dining since you had not dealt with that before?
- 30:27SPEAKER_01: It was fun to get to go to all the different uh restaurants, and even we had one that repeated just based on right, because when you have a four night, and so it was automatically your first one?
- 30:38SPEAKER_01: No, ours was nine, what is it called?
- 30:41SPEAKER_01: 1923.
- 30:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:43SPEAKER_01: Um, but they changed the menu.
- 30:44SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 30:45SPEAKER_01: So it was like a different menu for the second night.
- 30:47SPEAKER_02: Well, and if you do go to one of the themed spaces, I think it's more just the menu that night that it doesn't have a show.
- 30:54SPEAKER_02: Now at Coco, because it's a seven-day cruise and you do each of the spaces twice with one extra, or I guess it's yeah, it's still it's seven nights.
- 31:06SPEAKER_02: Um there are two Marvel shows that you see.
- 31:10SPEAKER_02: There's there's two different, and then Coco has two different um shows that happen, um, which is pretty cool.
- 31:18SPEAKER_02: But um uh and what did you think of the Marvel uh dining room?
- 31:24SPEAKER_01: The Marvel dining was really cool.
- 31:26SPEAKER_01: There were some people at our table that were disappointed because they'd been on another Disney cruise and their Marvel thing had like a show, like Spider-Man came out or something and was Did you not get Spider-Man at all?
- 31:37SPEAKER_04: We didn't get it.
- 31:38SPEAKER_04: No, we no we got him on the sail away.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, he he drops down because huh.
- 31:44SPEAKER_02: That's interesting.
- 31:45SPEAKER_02: Because he's on the back of the ship, right?
- 31:48SPEAKER_02: It's like, well, I guess that's what he was busy doing, just hanging out on the back of the ship, couldn't be bothered to come to your dinner.
- 31:53SPEAKER_02: Uh, because was there a story throughout, like on the screens and stuff?
- 31:57SPEAKER_02: There was.
- 31:58SPEAKER_01: It was yeah, it was like an interactive game.
- 32:01SPEAKER_02: Oh, was it Groot?
- 32:03SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 32:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and they had like a little lantern.
- 32:07SPEAKER_02: That's the second, that's the second Marvel show that you get on the treasure.
- 32:13SPEAKER_02: And on The Wish, the only Marvel show they had was the one that's the one that's first on the treasure.
- 32:19SPEAKER_02: And yeah, it it has a it's Ant-Man and the Wasp, and there's more of a storyline.
- 32:25SPEAKER_02: And yes, Spider-Man comes to save the ship and he comes through the dining room.
- 32:29SPEAKER_02: So sorry, spoiler alert.
- 32:32SPEAKER_02: You do get Spider-Man on some of your Marvel dinners.
- 32:35SPEAKER_02: Uh, did you all go to Palo?
- 32:37SPEAKER_01: No, okay, we didn't do any of these beyond the regular.
- 32:41SPEAKER_02: Um, what about your ports?
- 32:45SPEAKER_01: So we stayed on at NASA, uh, so we could explore the ship, which it seems like a lot of people did.
- 32:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 32:54SPEAKER_02: I think at this point, well, and especially Nassau Bahamas is just one of those ports that if you cruise with any regularity, you go there almost every time.
- 33:04SPEAKER_02: We've been there before.
- 33:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and it's like I'm I'm on this cruise to experience the ship.
- 33:09SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 33:10SPEAKER_02: And so yeah, I totally understood.
- 33:12SPEAKER_02: I didn't get off in Nassau.
- 33:13SPEAKER_02: I don't.
- 33:14SPEAKER_02: I'm trying to remember.
- 33:15SPEAKER_02: There was one place that I sort of got off and we walked down the gangway, and Jackie and our other friends we were traveling with were like, oh, we'll go look in these shops.
- 33:23SPEAKER_02: I'm like, I don't need to see those shops.
- 33:25SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna go get back on the ship.
- 33:27SPEAKER_02: Uh and then one day, even what was it Joy?
- 33:31SPEAKER_02: I guess it was Georgetown, says something like that.
- 33:35SPEAKER_02: But they announced that the seas were choppy and you had to tender in.
- 33:39SPEAKER_02: And so they canceled our port day.
- 33:41SPEAKER_02: And we were like, yay! There wasn't anything there I needed to do.
- 33:45SPEAKER_02: I'm staying on the ship.
- 33:46SPEAKER_02: Although there were more people that day, but then they beefed up the schedule.
- 33:50SPEAKER_02: Did you have any ports get canceled?
- 33:53SPEAKER_02: No.
- 33:53SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 33:54SPEAKER_02: And it was Nassau and Castaway Castaway.
- 33:58SPEAKER_02: And what did you think of Castaway?
- 34:00SPEAKER_02: I really liked it.
- 34:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was nice.
- 34:02SPEAKER_01: We spent we spent most of the day on the adults-only beach area.
- 34:06SPEAKER_02: I know it well.
- 34:07SPEAKER_02: That's where we spent our time with Castery.
- 34:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:11SPEAKER_01: I did the uh I did the 5K, but I do not run, I walk.
- 34:15SPEAKER_01: So I walked the 5K.
- 34:16SPEAKER_01: So I because I really wanted the medal.
- 34:18SPEAKER_02: Because what is that what you were holding up in one of your pictures?
- 34:21SPEAKER_02: I just thought you must have done really well at trivia.
- 34:24SPEAKER_04: No, I think that was we also have a trivia story.
- 34:26SPEAKER_04: If you saw the if you saw the picture of both of us with medals, that's from trivia.
- 34:30SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 34:30SPEAKER_01: It's just me.
- 34:31SPEAKER_01: I did not do the 5K.
- 34:33SPEAKER_02: Well, so what is that like?
- 34:34SPEAKER_02: I mean, how do you sign up for it?
- 34:36SPEAKER_01: And so you just do it completely on your own.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: You don't need to sign up for anything.
- 34:39SPEAKER_01: I just found the trail.
- 34:41SPEAKER_01: Um, but I learned because no one shared any information, but I learned that the trail starts at the bike rental like shack.
- 34:47SPEAKER_01: So if you find the bike rental shack, you can follow it.
- 34:50SPEAKER_01: I actually started it halfway through.
- 34:52SPEAKER_01: Um so I started halfway, walked to the bike rental thing, and then walked the other half back to where it started.
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: But it's a very nice trail.
- 35:01SPEAKER_01: You walk down what used to be like that air strip for plants, uh, and you go there, and then they just have kind of a trail that does wander through some nice like plant and vegetation stuff.
- 35:11SPEAKER_02: And and the people at the bike place give you your medal.
- 35:14SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 35:14SPEAKER_01: You just have to walk up and say, I did it, and then they hand it to you.
- 35:17SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 35:18SPEAKER_02: Well until they figure out that people are just getting the medal without walking the 5K.
- 35:23SPEAKER_02: They offered it to me.
- 35:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they did.
- 35:25SPEAKER_01: And I said, He didn't earn it.
- 35:26SPEAKER_01: No, no.
- 35:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, good for you.
- 35:28SPEAKER_02: Good for you, Kayla.
- 35:30SPEAKER_02: It's like, no, I earned this thing.
- 35:32SPEAKER_02: It's like nobody's, I don't want people who haven't actually.
- 35:34SPEAKER_02: I ended up with two marathon medals the year that I did the marathon because I my parents and I didn't buy it.
- 35:40SPEAKER_02: My parents bought the framed picture and it comes with its own metal inside the frame.
- 35:46SPEAKER_02: But you have to like prove that you did it.
- 35:49SPEAKER_02: You can't just ask for it.
- 35:52SPEAKER_02: So, what was your trivia story?
- 35:53SPEAKER_01: Uh so we did a lot of trivia.
- 35:55SPEAKER_01: We did a lot of trivia.
- 35:56SPEAKER_02: So did we, and I was really upset.
- 35:58SPEAKER_01: This trivia is hard.
- 36:00SPEAKER_02: It is, it is super hard.
- 36:02SPEAKER_02: I mean, there we I was with, and we were really excited because you know, I have my niche of Disney trivia, but our friend Jacob, who we were with, and our friend Kent, they have they have more contemporary references to stuff, and we're like, we've got this covered.
- 36:19SPEAKER_02: And every every round of trivia was like, who the hell knows that answer?
- 36:25SPEAKER_04: Well, we started the uh the first one that we went to, just like it was it was going and we were like, oh, we should go do that, because we we always love trivia.
- 36:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was 80s music trivia, and like we weren't alive in the 80s, but but you listen to the radio, yeah.
- 36:41SPEAKER_04: And but I don't know, I think we maybe only got half of them.
- 36:45SPEAKER_01: Well, because you also have to get song title and artist, which is always hard for me because I'll know like the title, but not the artist.
- 36:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 36:52SPEAKER_04: After that, we were like, I don't know how well we're gonna do with the other trivia.
- 36:56SPEAKER_04: Maybe I should take a Jackie to 80s trivia.
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: But we did um the one that we got our medals for was uh general knowledge.
- 37:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and this general knowledge was so hard.
- 37:09SPEAKER_01: The highest score was 13 out of 20.
- 37:12SPEAKER_01: Wow and the guy leading it, was this yo-yo?
- 37:15SPEAKER_05: Yo-yo.
- 37:16SPEAKER_05: He went by yo-yo.
- 37:17SPEAKER_05: Yo-yo.
- 37:17SPEAKER_01: He was so fun.
- 37:18SPEAKER_05: He was very fun.
- 37:18SPEAKER_01: Shout out to the entertainment staff on the cruises because they love their jobs and they are wonderful, and they just like make you have a really good time.
- 37:27SPEAKER_01: Um, but he was like, This is the worst score I've ever seen.
- 37:31SPEAKER_01: As the winner.
- 37:32SPEAKER_01: As the winner.
- 37:33SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 37:34SPEAKER_02: Way to judge yo-yo.
- 37:36SPEAKER_01: And so he did if it if there's a tie, normally they do a bonus question.
- 37:41SPEAKER_01: And the bonus question is more like you have to guess a random number of something.
- 37:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 37:47SPEAKER_01: Uh so he did three bonus questions, and whoever was the closest got medals to the whole room.
- 37:53SPEAKER_01: For the whole room.
- 37:54SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 37:55SPEAKER_01: So we were the closest on one of the bonus questions, and he's like, go, go pick out metals.
- 37:59SPEAKER_02: Awesome.
- 38:00SPEAKER_02: That's cool.
- 38:00SPEAKER_01: So that's the only reason we got them.
- 38:02SPEAKER_02: Um, what other entertainment did you experience?
- 38:06SPEAKER_01: Uh, we went to all the shows.
- 38:07SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 38:08SPEAKER_02: Cause there were because so four nights.
- 38:11SPEAKER_02: The first night is the is the seas the day, which is true on all of the ships.
- 38:17SPEAKER_02: And then and then what were the other ones?
- 38:20SPEAKER_01: We had Frozen and Hercules.
- 38:22SPEAKER_02: And and w what was your impression of those?
- 38:26SPEAKER_04: Well, the uh I think the first thing, and I guess this isn't isolate into just the cruise.
- 38:34SPEAKER_04: I think this is true of Disney in general, especially like with the Magic Castle and stuff.
- 38:40SPEAKER_04: Um, the their ability to do projection mapping is so good.
- 38:46SPEAKER_04: It's so good.
- 38:47SPEAKER_04: They like you know, the like we walked into Frozen and we'd already been in the theater like the day before.
- 38:53SPEAKER_04: And now they had all this, like there's all this filigree around this, and it's all got little minute things projected so perfectly on it.
- 39:01SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 39:01SPEAKER_04: Um, that was really crazy.
- 39:03SPEAKER_04: And the I don't know, the use of the projections and the lights across the board is awesome.
- 39:10SPEAKER_02: And you did second seating for dinner?
- 39:13SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 39:13SPEAKER_02: And then you went to the later shows.
- 39:15SPEAKER_01: We actually we did the earlier.
- 39:23SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 39:23SPEAKER_02: Cool.
- 39:24SPEAKER_02: Um, what else?
- 39:26SPEAKER_02: Any any other really cool stuff on the uh did did you go to any of the well, Cruellas?
- 39:34SPEAKER_01: We went to pretty much every bar.
- 39:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 39:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 39:37SPEAKER_02: So so talk about those.
- 39:38SPEAKER_02: Maybe in ascending order of how cool they are.
- 39:41SPEAKER_02: What was the least cool of the police school?
- 39:44SPEAKER_02: Um Doctor Strange one was a little bit of a and I'm not much of a Doctor Strange person, so I can it was still really beautiful, yeah.
- 39:53SPEAKER_01: But it was a bar that they had put very centrally and it was open, so it wasn't like its own space, like you were always walking by it, and you could just kind of go sit in there and it was themed that way, but it just didn't feel quite as special, yeah, kind of thing.
- 40:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and then what uh um we never got a drink at the cask and canon, but we were in there for trivia.
- 40:15SPEAKER_04: It looked cool, it was the pirates themed.
- 40:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and then the parlor is on the destiny, right?
- 40:20SPEAKER_02: The haunted mansion parlor, yes, because it's on the treasure as well.
- 40:24SPEAKER_02: I'm wearing my shirt, audio visitors from the haunted mansion parlor.
- 40:27SPEAKER_02: Haunted Mansion Parlor.
- 40:28SPEAKER_02: What did you think of that?
- 40:29SPEAKER_02: That was amazing.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: It was so fun, and it's it's a very small space though.
- 40:34SPEAKER_01: They cannot fit it really is a lot of people in there.
- 40:37SPEAKER_01: But I mean, the theming is so on point, it has all the sounds, it has cool special effects.
- 40:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, on the Wish, that is the Star Wars bar.
- 40:46SPEAKER_02: It's the and so I mean, same footprint, but yeah, it's it, you know, it really feels intimate, you know.
- 40:53SPEAKER_02: But all the stuff they do in there, oh my god, how long did you stay?
- 40:57SPEAKER_01: We went twice.
- 40:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:00SPEAKER_01: Probably not longer than terribly long.
- 41:02SPEAKER_01: I don't know, a half hour.
- 41:03SPEAKER_04: I think the first time we were in there, we had we had a couple drinks.
- 41:07SPEAKER_04: Um, the second time, the second time we were in there, we were mostly there to get the commemorative mug.
- 41:13SPEAKER_02: That thing.
- 41:14SPEAKER_02: And Disney in their commemorative mugs.
- 41:17SPEAKER_02: They'll send you to the poor house.
- 41:19SPEAKER_02: But well, cool.
- 41:21SPEAKER_02: Um, any other like overall takeaways from the whole Disney cruise thing?
- 41:26SPEAKER_02: I mean, uh I'm I I'm your travel agent and I forgot to add.
- 41:29SPEAKER_02: Did you buy a placeholder while you were there at the end of the cruise?
- 41:33SPEAKER_02: The whole pre-purchase thing.
- 41:35SPEAKER_04: No.
- 41:35SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 41:36SPEAKER_02: I thought you might have been tempted.
- 41:38SPEAKER_04: But I think uh I think because we were waiting to figure out schedules for the rest of the year and at the beginning of next year.
- 41:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think I'm doing this was a big trip for us.
- 41:51SPEAKER_02: Sure, of course, of course.
- 41:53SPEAKER_02: Um, but uh but yeah, so you would do a Disney cruise again?
- 41:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:59SPEAKER_01: I thought our room was very nice.
- 42:00SPEAKER_01: The room was pretty nice.
- 42:01SPEAKER_01: I know we paid a little extra for one that had a balcony, but it it felt very spacious for two people.
- 42:07SPEAKER_02: I just really love the balcony state rooms now.
- 42:10SPEAKER_02: I think I've gotten Jackie hooked because when you can just open up that that door and sit out there and listen to the ocean, it's just yeah, it's so awesome.
- 42:22SPEAKER_02: How was your did you have one day at sea?
- 42:24SPEAKER_02: Or did you have yeah, yeah, just one.
- 42:26SPEAKER_02: Just one day at sea.
- 42:27SPEAKER_02: And and how was I mean, you found stuff to do?
- 42:30SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 42:30SPEAKER_01: They have activities up the wazoo.
- 42:32SPEAKER_02: We did a lot of we did a lot of crafts.
- 42:34SPEAKER_01: Oh no, I love crafts.
- 42:36SPEAKER_02: What did what did you make?
- 42:37SPEAKER_02: What were your favorite crafts?
- 42:39SPEAKER_01: They did a wheat.
- 42:42SPEAKER_02: Wind chine?
- 42:42SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 42:42SPEAKER_01: A wind chine, like you bead your own.
- 42:44SPEAKER_01: So they have all their own like pre-made craft kits, and then you just do it, but it was like a little Mickey or mini wooden piece at the top, and then you string beads on and like little bells.
- 42:54SPEAKER_04: Oh, cool.
- 42:54SPEAKER_01: Uh, we did scratch art, colored some pictures, colored some pictures.
- 42:59SPEAKER_01: They did like uh one of those little drawstring, you know, cheap drawstring bag things, but they had like a design, a Disney design you could put underneath it and trace it and like color it in yourself if you wanted.
- 43:10SPEAKER_01: And these crafts were specifically all just adults.
- 43:13SPEAKER_01: So pretty much all of the programming we did throughout it, we went to the just adults.
- 43:18SPEAKER_02: That was as we did as well.
- 43:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 43:21SPEAKER_01: And it was very peaceful, yeah.
- 43:24SPEAKER_01: Um, they had a really nice um their kind of like game show room is maybe what it'll call it, was called Saga, and it was Black Panther themed.
- 43:33SPEAKER_02: Uh the yeah, because the one on the treasure is Sarabi and it's Lion King themed.
- 43:39SPEAKER_02: But yeah, it's two tiers and it's got the yeah.
- 43:42SPEAKER_01: And that was really nice.
- 43:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that was a great, great space.
- 43:45SPEAKER_04: And we attended a couple like little game show things in there, and we did a we did a trivia in there that was Disney music with the live pianist.
- 43:55SPEAKER_04: Oh, cool.
- 43:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 43:57SPEAKER_01: But then they were like, well, it's not just Disney movies, it's all Disney.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: Disney ever.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: And I was like, what?
- 44:01SPEAKER_01: So like one of the things was the theme from Fantasmic.
- 44:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:04SPEAKER_01: Or just like random things like that.
- 44:06SPEAKER_01: And I was like, oh.
- 44:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they really I mean they do.
- 44:09SPEAKER_02: They try to spread it out so that you've got to have so that nobody just knows it all.
- 44:15SPEAKER_02: And they know that people are on that cruiser Disney people for the most part.
- 44:18SPEAKER_02: And they're like, I'm not gonna make this easy for you.
- 44:23SPEAKER_02: Um so anything else about this trip that that you feel you have neglected to share?
- 44:31SPEAKER_02: I mean, this has been great.
- 44:32SPEAKER_02: Thank you so much for talking the park and the Halloween party.
- 44:35SPEAKER_02: How much candy did you get at the Halloween party?
- 44:38SPEAKER_01: Nice mountain of candy.
- 44:40SPEAKER_02: We came with an extra bag.
- 44:42SPEAKER_01: We did, yes, we brought a tote bag.
- 44:44SPEAKER_01: Plan ahead of the bag so you could get more candy.
- 44:47SPEAKER_02: I will say Jackie and I are going to Oogie Boogie's Bash in Disney, which I've never been to, but we're we're gonna drive because it's w she's flying out to see the show the first weekend, and then we're driving to Disneyland with like 12 other people so that we can go to the bash on Tuesday, and then we'll drive back.
- 45:06SPEAKER_02: She gets to fly, but I was like, I have my car, we can get as much candy as we want.
- 45:11SPEAKER_02: We don't even have to worry about a bag weight limit.
- 45:15SPEAKER_02: So we'll come home with enough Halloween candy then.
- 45:18SPEAKER_02: Well, yeah.
- 45:20SPEAKER_02: But so so overall, a pleasant trip for your birthday.
- 45:23SPEAKER_01: Oh, absolutely.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: I got I'm a princess person, so I got my fill of all of the princess everything.
- 45:30SPEAKER_01: That's awesome.
- 45:31SPEAKER_01: And the four-day buy four days get to free deal is a lot of things.
- 45:35SPEAKER_02: That was a great, that was a really nice.
- 45:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you caught that at the sweet spot.
- 45:41SPEAKER_02: But I have a feeling it was really successful, hopefully, for them.
- 45:44SPEAKER_02: And if that's true, we'll see it return.
- 45:47SPEAKER_02: They just released today, hey audio visitors, they just released today a bunch of of new deals for spring.
- 45:55SPEAKER_02: Uh and so I I guess it it sums it up to say, you know, if you'd like to go to Disney, I would be more than happy to help you arrange that trip.
- 46:05SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm very grateful that Jack and Kayla allow me to do that for them from time to time.
- 46:09SPEAKER_02: Uh, I also do other things like Universal and other cruises.
- 46:13SPEAKER_02: So um, but check out that link on the of Mice and Main Street Men website, uh, and it'll link you to my homepage.
- 46:22SPEAKER_02: You can call me, you can email me, but we'll get you uh we'll get you a trip planned.
- 46:29SPEAKER_02: And again, thanks to you both for coming and being willing to talk about this trip.
- 46:34SPEAKER_02: And as we say around here, bye, you friends, and we will see you real soon.
