- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the house because it's freezing
- 0:33and dark and I cannot get out there in time before I need to
- 0:37get this out to everybody. So we are talking today about
- 0:42making sure you don't keep all that mind chatter in your head.
- 0:47This is a very important time of the year as we enter into the
- 0:51end of it where there's obviously stressors around us
- 0:55about getting things done, dealing with people, so many
- 0:58different varieties of things, trying to check off the last
- 1:01things of the To Do List, whatever it might be.
- 1:03It really doesn't matter. But what matters is what you're
- 1:07telling yourself. What matters is the story that
- 1:10you're sticking to. What matters is listening to the
- 1:12mind chatter, because that is the key.
- 1:15When you can listen to your mind chatter and you can hear what
- 1:19all those different emotions are telling you, you understand why
- 1:24you're acting and feeling the way that you are acting and
- 1:28feeling. The key is always stopping and
- 1:31pausing and saying, What is that?
- 1:34What is that saying? What is the reason that keeps
- 1:36showing up? What is that trying to tell me?
- 1:39It's best to refrain from asking why, Like, why am I doing this?
- 1:43That used to be my favorite thing to ask myself, why am I
- 1:46doing this? Why am I having anxiety?
- 1:48Well, the answer to that immediately in my head was
- 1:51always because that's what you do.
- 1:52You, you're anxious. And then that was an excuse.
- 1:55It, it gave me permission to have the excuse of saying I have
- 2:00anxiety. So it became my identity and
- 2:02that mind chatter took over and it drove everything.
- 2:05Instead, when you ask the what question, when you stop and
- 2:08pause and say, OK, what is the reason this is showing up right
- 2:13now? You get a different answer.
- 2:15It's showing up because I have all these things to do.
- 2:17OK, yes, I understand we have all these things to do.
- 2:21Is there a better way to handle this?
- 2:23Is there a better way to approach this?
- 2:25What other ways can we handle this?
- 2:28What other ways can we leverage things out?
- 2:31What other ways can we divide the list?
- 2:34You can ask different questions to get control.
- 2:39And it all comes back to one simple factor, my friends.
- 2:43It comes back to can you hear the cat crying because she wants
- 2:46to go on the porch and it's too cold?
- 2:49In any event, you it all comes back to one simple thing,
- 2:53understanding what emotion you're speaking to and what mind
- 2:56chatter is there. What is that mind chatter that's
- 2:59showing up? I cannot stress this enough.
- 3:03If you can understand the emotion and the chatter it's
- 3:07giving you, then you can have a conversation with it to detangle
- 3:13it. But you have to understand the
- 3:15emotion and then you can understand the chatter.
- 3:18So think of it like this. If you are trying to discern
- 3:23something and you're in a conversation with a child, OK,
- 3:28let's say you're talking to a 2 year old at this moment and
- 3:32you're trying to figure out what they're crying for.
- 3:34And they're crying and they're hysterical.
- 3:36Their emotions are high and they're hysterical and they're
- 3:39too. So they're not having lots of
- 3:42language to work with, but they have lots of emotion.
- 3:46You have a different response to that child than you do if that
- 3:49child is 10 and the 10 year old has more emotion.
- 3:54So it's under control and more words to come at you with so
- 3:59that you can help them. So think of your emotions the
- 4:03same way. You have to know who you're
- 4:05dealing with. So I know when I'm dealing with
- 4:07anxiety in my head, sometimes she's like a 2 year old.
- 4:12She doesn't use the best language and she is often high
- 4:16in emotion out of control. So I know when I feel that
- 4:20anxiety, I have to immediately have that conversation to say,
- 4:24OK, what do I need to do before she gets out of control and the
- 4:27emotion gets even bigger. I also know that my certainty
- 4:30girls like dealing with a 10 year old.
- 4:31Let's use that example because she has more words and she has
- 4:35more of an ability to talk to me about it.
- 4:39And when you and you can listen to that chatter and discern it.
- 4:42So when you hear when I hear the blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, I
- 4:45know I'm dealing with a 2 year old and I have to handle it
- 4:47quickly. I have to get it under control.
- 4:49Otherwise I'm going to be that person in the middle of Target
- 4:52with somebody on the floor freaking out.
- 4:54Like what happens when a toddler takes a fit and you don't want
- 4:57that. So discerning your mind chatter
- 5:00is going to change is a game changer, especially going into
- 5:03the stressful end of the year. Put a pin in the fact that
- 5:09you're going to make notes on the this mind chatter.
- 5:12You're going to listen to what you're saying to yourself
- 5:15because that gives you all the clues that gives you what you
- 5:18need to know. And then you can go on from
- 5:20there. You can make massive shifts and
- 5:23changes and pace yourself. Now, do you have to keep
- 5:25switching emotions? Yes.
- 5:26You've heard me say this a million times.
- 5:28Yes, you do. They come and go quickly.
- 5:31But that's the reason we do this.
- 5:33That's the reason I am here all the time doing these episodes
- 5:36for you because you need to stay on top of it.
- 5:40So today, discern your mind chatter.
- 5:42This week, discern your mind chatter.
- 5:44This month, discern your mind chatter moving forward.
- 5:46Keep doing it, but now critical to your success the end of this
- 5:51year. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:52you have a blessed day and I will see you all tomorrow.
- 5:55Bye.
