- f1capper: Apex Insiders, we are back. It's been a couple weeks, and we are here for the Italian GP, the Autodroma what's Nazia Nazionale Monza, is as they would call it. The track. And is it a it's a fun one to Fosis Unite? So the hype is Ferrari, Kimmy, and we got a lot to discuss. There's been actually a lot of activity. So I got I got my man F one tipster. So what do you can't carry his tip Hey Darksideday: AKA Renegade, aka Alan. f1capper: Exactly, exactly. Which which one are we going with today? Darksideday: The classic renegade, let's go to renegade. f1capper: Let's go renegade. All right. So now I know what to call you renegade today. All right, man. Yeah. I'm I'm excited. I'm it feels like after the summer break, we only had one race and then week off. It's like, all right, let's get to it. This is also the last week of IndyCar. So the season finale ends this weekend and has success. Darksideday: My favorite. f1capper: It's a number one fan, UK's number one fan right here. And yeah, so I'm looking forward to this. This is the second half of the season. And this is we're getting some updates. the hype right now, Ferrari, of course. They waited. They wanted to get everything in this weekend. Sounds like they're getting the engine upgrade. I mean, they're saying what, 30 horsepower? Who's who's to say we can verify that? We won't know until practice. Or not even practice. Probably won't even know until qualifying. So yeah, they got a floor. I think they got some other things coming. So a lot of lot of hype building up for them right now. And big news, Hajar is officially ruled out again. sounds like he really did a number on his hands. So Lawson is gonna fill in again. Yuki is going to continue to drive for racing pools V Carb. And let's see, what other news? What other news? Kimmy, of course. The biggest one probably taking the grip penalty, but we've all kind of expected that in for a while. Russell. Yep. Darksideday: Not Russell, we've got a bit excited there for a few minutes. f1capper: So Russell is not Toto quoted. He did not want to risk championship points that way, which makes sense. Like, why do both and risk it? And while McLaren is on the up, well, I won't say even say McLaren, I'll say Norse is looking pretty solid right now. The car is is is locked in. Norse is locked in. And Max, Max, what is he going to do this weekend? He should have the car. So Monza. Let's just talk about that really quickly. Monza is very, very fast. Power track, not super technical. It's all about horsepower. Although this year it's going to be a little nuked because of the energy management. We're going to see lots of super clipping and all that. So it's a matter of who's going to Who's going to have the best energy management around the track? Because that's going to make a big difference. Which kind of sucks. That that's what we're we're talking about. It's not even driver potential now. It's about energy management. So Max. Max is currently the longest odds to win outside of I think he was he's probably right now at sitting at 14, 15 to 1. Some places you can find twenty two to one. hint hint, Calci, I did. get like whatever shares I could that someone was offering twenty two to one. And there was a lot of weird activity on Cal She last night, by the way. pretty awesome, I will say. So yeah, I think Darksideday: There's always weird stuff going on on that site. There's always strange stuff going on on Calci. f1capper: I it's it's an interesting way like so IndyCar and F1 that is from for both of them when they the minute they start posting like it you see you you've heard Brad like he's going in there and he's like I got this crazy like nine to one on Kimmy Top 3 like who is doing that so like people are when the volume is starting I think a lot of people are just putting maybe one person is just Throwing out like Darksideday: And they must it must be 'cause the odds are so strange to understand. They must be like, yeah, this f1capper: Yeah, well Darksideday: is fun. f1capper: I kinda see it because as I've been playing around with Calci, like there's a side of me that wants to eventually get into the like put in some asks at like way below market on things that may not hit. I mean you just you just saw lights took on loss in the win the the grand prix. So Darksideday: I the you keeping some of that as well. Was that you the opposite sign? f1capper: Yeah, like that should be free money on the ask side, right? Like it's just I think people are just getting in, putting vol I'm still learning it. I'm still I I want to say I'm still trying to see the trend of it in how how this is working because I've seen it early on in the week in IndyCar 2. There is just some odds you're like, what in the hell? Like this is this is wrong. Like I'm gonna I'm gonna take that on. And I don't know if that's just creating volume in that actual play. And then as the week keeps going through, it starts settling on the price action and it's at market or even it's shorter than market at that point. So as the week goes through, it's like, okay, the market is settled on Calci. I think that the volume is starting to pick up and people are starting to put their bids and asks. So it's fun. I will I will say it's it's a lot of fun. So yeah. Darksideday: No one makes any mistakes on Betfair Exchange. It's just that's not happening. And I'm like, what's this? It must be like new to market type thing going on. f1capper: I don't know. It's got I don't know, us Americans are wild, right? So maybe it's I don't know. You guys are more seasoned, so people know how to play those markets. I don't know. but this is strictly Calchi. I've I've not seen Polly because Polly I've I just started getting access to Polly the way they just been doing the markets. been very weird compared to Cal she. Cal she just has a lot more users right now too. So I'll take it. I'll I'll take the fun out of with that. But yes, let's talk about some let's talk about our plays. no free free practice plays yet. that's another thing we should be announcing is reserve drivers. was it Paul Aaron is going to replace Culop Gasly. Okay, so it's Gasly. Darksideday: Gasly, I think. I saw someone say Gazley. Don't correct me on that, but yeah. f1capper: Okay. It sounds right because I think Franco had already given his seat earlier this season or so at some point recently. And then Max. Max is sitting out, FP one. Yeah. I don't know who the driver was, but he's sitting. So so far we have two confirmed drivers. FP one. Darksideday: Paris. f1capper: in Paris. Yeah. Special. Special one. Darksideday: Favorite. f1capper: Yeah. who's who's actually is it Herda? Ooh, okay. I'll be interested to see. All right. So with that said, I think the angle can be taken. Not gonna overthink it. Ferrari. I just hope the odds are in well, I'm sure top three is gonna be nerfed for LeClaire and Hamilton. so Norris. So I I I don't know how I'll play it, but I'm probably thinking about doing some Ferrari outright, maybe I will keep an open mind about Kimmy, although I feel like even though Kimmy did win F P one the last race, it was a sprint weekend, he's he said he hasn't had an a P one in F P one since Barcelona, I think it was the last time. so he doesn't he's not I I think he maybe he's just trying to understand the car, get the setup right, and then F P two or three he's he's nailing it, especially three. so we can Darksideday: Yeah, back to a normal weekend. f1capper: Yeah. So that's kind of my angle that I'll be looking at. And yeah, I mean, I don't I'm just gonna keep playing it session by session on that. But let's talk about qualifying because that's been the hot topic. It says Kimmy's numbers, which has since dropped, I think at some places plus 250, 225, you know, closer. I think it's the the three guys are Norris. Russell and Kimmy as like around that two to one range. But earlier in the week, Monday, even, yeah, we had that discussion in our premium chat about Kimmy and Paul. So obviously there's differing opinions. Obviously, there's risk behind this display, purely contrarian. But a few of us did like it at plus three fifty, which is just going based off, hey, this is his home race. He's not gonna win the race. I mean, he still probably could if he also gets lucky with some safety car or something like that. But likely he's not going to win the race. So why not put in a a nice effort on Saturday? Win Saturday is what what I would say. So yeah, of course the argument is, well, what's there to there's nothing to drive for. Why risk it? You know, why do all these things? Well, in and it's yes, I get it. But I mean, this is purely just contrarian. We're taking the odds. I I mean there's been many times we've actually had that mentality where we said, he's not gonna what's the point? You know, let's just not Darksideday: Many times. f1capper: yeah. And how many times we're like, motherfucker, this guy got into Q one or Q three. So it's it's yeah, it's I think it's fair enough. And let's be real. It's what? One unit. We're putting like one unit, one and a half units on it. You could go less than that, whatever. I mean, just consider it that it's just a purely contrarian play and that he He it is possible. And yeah, he might have to play the team game if Russell starts becoming the Russell that he has been lately. So he might have to give him a toe. But purely on pace, man, like he could probably just stick it and be like, Yeah, I could still give you a toe. Like we you never know. So yeah, that's that's kind of been our our angle right now as far as r actual play. Part of me thinks, Ferrari, there's a lot of hype going in about these upgrades. Everyone's like, ooh, the upgrades are gonna make them faster. I don't know. I don't know. What do you think? What do you think? Leclerc or Hamilton, do you think they can get polls? Darksideday: I think so. f1capper: You don't think so? Darksideday: I don't think so. Not against they've got the slowest engine on the grid. I know this one's an upgrade. But even still. Mercedes, when they look good, they look good. Norris is looking very good at the moment. It's hard to see and Max in the mix. Pole? I don't think so. Will it be out there? Yeah. f1capper: Well then who do you think gets poll? All right, let me ask this. Who would you bet to get poll at the current odds? And then who do you think gets poll just without betting aspect? Darksideday: Okay, think just looking at the odds on Ortacheca, you can get twelve to one each way, which I know a lot of the US views can't get, Max Verstappen, twelve to one, three places. I think that's pretty good. And then I like Norris at three to one. I'll take that as well. f1capper: Okay. So then who do you actually think gets it? Darksideday: Melando. I'll I'll tell Melinda. f1capper: Yeah, so UK bias. Darksideday: Yeah, British bias. I mean there's three drivers out of the six you have to pick anyway. f1capper: Yeah, that's true. Yeah, I I'm kind of on that that position where I'm like, Man, I you know how it is too with Ferrari. We get they they they get they reel you in and like, ooh Darksideday: Yeah, there'll be F P one one two and then t turn up the engines. f1capper: FP3, it's like what what's kind of shaky? Maybe they do even better. They're like, whoa, they're they look like they're strong. And then it gets into qualifying. It's like, I don't have pace. I my tires don't work. What's happening? Darksideday: breaks, the breaks. f1capper: I don't. This just always something. Always something when it comes to qualifying. I Max is interesting. I think I'm more confident Max would. capture pole but lose in the race and only because I think the tire degradation thing is still an issue for them. They yeah, they technically have one of the most aerial efficient cars. You're at a track where you strip everything off from a downforce persp perspective. So everyone's going to have the lowest spec of downforce possible at this track. And that car should be a bullet. I think where he they had limitations was in the medium speed corners, which there's only a couple I at this point. So I think Darksideday: Yeah. f1capper: I think that's and the they they do I have the second best engine. Or they claim it should be the best at this point, but let's be real, it's the second best. So I I think he does get pull if it's not Kimmy, of course, because now I'm Kimmy fan. Kimmy. Kimmy Kimmy Kimmy. Darksideday: See, I was saying about Kimmy, I I've even got I keep thinking are you gonna use one of them tire sets though to get Paul f1capper: Give you so you're saying he could get it on you set? Darksideday: No, but would he? Would he use two two sets Q free and then not save softs? f1capper: I mean what's the point of saving softs? You're not gonna use them unless there's a late safety car. Darksideday: no, they're not a Russian, fair enough. f1capper: Yeah, they're only g there's no way in a one stop race they're gonna use soft. Softs is not is not the right call unless you really unless something has changed. But they're bringing the soft as compounds. And last year there was the same thing. They there was a late safety car, so some went on use softs t to the end. But it's gonna be a medium hard race. You wanna save those more than anything. Darksideday: Right, I'll give you that. And it's not a sprint week weekend so they will have f1capper: Yeah. Darksideday: tires anyway. f1capper: Yeah, so that's kind of my my that goes back to the contrarian views like, well they he needs to save his no, he doesn't. He technically doesn't. Like he could still have a set of use and that would still be okay for a late safety car for him. So that's kind of my my two cents on it. So and I could see him probably running the hards in the beginning. You know, get get that out of the way or you know yeah, so one thing I did why well margin. I think the margin for qualifying, if you like I wanted to kind of think through this a little bit. Like my I've always taken the less than point one and it seems like it's favorable right now around like plus one fifty two two point five. I kinda think that if you don't think Kimmy is going to get pole and doesn't do his run or whatever the situation is or he's got a toe, then we should be taking under point point one at this point, because it should be fairly close between Lando, Max and Maybe Leclerc or Hamilton? What do you think? Darksideday: Yeah. f1capper: You see what those are. Darksideday: which market is that? f1capper: The quality winning margin. It's at plus it's at two point Darksideday: yeah. f1capper: two point two five now. So they it it they expect it to be under. But it's always been under. Darksideday: Yeah, I'd kill Rivanda. There's only so many turns. Unless f1capper: Yeah, I think Darksideday: Max is just mega hair. f1capper: In a in a a piss missile. Darksideday: Yeah. f1capper: Yeah. Okay. I feel like I'm gonna do that. I think I kinda dig that. what other market last classified. Has that's been nuked. Twenty six to one, huh? Darksideday: Favourite a favourite. f1capper: I've looked everywhere 'cause I think it was on stake and Darksideday: So now you're telling me Lance Draw, last classified. f1capper: I didn't say it. I'm just echoing the the premium chat who brought it up. I don't know, I don't remember who brought it up. wait, it was Brad first, right? Darksideday: yeah. f1capper: yeah. And he was like, Man, they have last classified I was like, dude, Honda is going to suck this weekend. So yeah, you should take that. Darksideday: But I think even still though That Aston Martin sh surely has something about it, like in the in the little corners not to be as bad as the Cadillacs. f1capper: yes. absolutely. There's a reason why it's still priced. Like it's probably s even still priced at sixteen to one at this point, right? Like hard market to gauge no matter what. I just think at the odds it's it's it was definitely more favorable for you to when it was at twenty six to one, even at sixteen to one, you know. Throw a flyer on it. Throw ten dollars. Fifteen. Darksideday: So I've got the prices now. Lance Stroll six to one. Alonso, eight to one. f1capper: Don't do it. What is Perez in Darksideday: You could f1capper: in Botas? Darksideday: Well, you could back both of them for like evens. f1capper: Hmm. No. Darksideday: You you'll do that, they'll just break down both of them. f1capper: So what about this? Darksideday: What about the Williams? f1capper: What are they at? Darksideday: ten to one each. No, I don't think so. f1capper: No, I'm not interested. I just avoid the market. If there's one that I would be like I'd rather throw my money on, it's Holkenberg to retire in the race. I think that you know, we've s haven't Audi's or reliability has been okay, but now we're at a high speed track. We're at a it's gonna be hot. Maybe this is this is this might be their downfall because you know, reliability is still a concern for them. pick Bordoletto, but I hope it's Hulk because I've already made a punt, which we'll get into just after this. But kinda want to. I hate that market too. I think it's disgusting. But I don't know. I think this is like a time you take it. Like if you wanna Darksideday: And Yeah. f1capper: try it, this is the time. Darksideday: And if you do just going back briefly, have a book that copies 365, you might still have the 20s or 25 to 1 on Aston Martin. But going back to that Holkenberg with the no retirement, retired to retire, it just reminded me when Leclerc was in Miami and he crushed into the wall in the sprint, lining up to the sprint, and then I I was like, yeah, I've got the race on it. But it was for the race and not for the sprint. f1capper: that's right. I for rem I remember that. Darksideday: Yeah. f1capper: You were so happy and you're like, it was for the race. Darksideday: Ha ha ha. f1capper: No. And then of course he didn't retire. Darksideday: No. f1capper: Wait, so you said it's still twenties and on bet three sixty five for those? Audi's plus seven fifty, I guess you could take that if you wanted to bet on Bordoletto or Hulk or both. Which one would you do? Sp eight point five both or fourteen? Darksideday: What were the other prices? What as the market it must like? f1capper: S Martin is seven point five plus six fifty. Darksideday: Not bad. I'm trying three six five doesn't want me to see the market. What does f1capper: this is first constructor man Nevermind. We won't Darksideday: Hadlac seven point five. maybe that one. f1capper: Mm. I want I don't want the first. I want the driver to retire market. Like I I swear I was looking at Bet US and it had that. Darksideday: With the constructors then they have like zero, one or two classified or two retire. f1capper: No they do, but I was just checking what I have access to now. okay. Well let me first talk about Bordoletto. I have him just we're riding it again. that's right. We didn't even have a pod the last time. Apologies to anyone listening. We I was out of town and it was kind of a mess for my schedule to to record. and we did Bordoletto, a lot of it that weekend, except it didn't hit for the race. But this I'm just going back to the well, man. It just it seems to since last year even, second half of the season. Darksideday: Last 150 for points. No bad. was that not the well? Was that not the well? f1capper: Mm-hmm It was plus one seventy five. It was it was actually that was I don't think he gets into top ten. I just think he beats his teammate. I think that he in qualifying and I think he will beat his teammate in the race. Especially last year, I believe he was like in the top ten last year in like almost every session. Maybe one session he wasn't, but he was he was pretty strong here last year. So I expect him to be strong again. He's been strong all season. He's he's just seems to have it right now. And I I've I've enjoyed backing him every time. It's like one of those guys like I am not worried about backing against Holkenberg. So I'm gonna take it and I'm gonna keep riding it. And maybe this is the weekend I rolled a seven and I crap out, but we we just keep going when the buttons off. So Darksideday: If there's any non-teammate head to heads that come out with Aston Martin, it'd be a good time. Because f1capper: I'm taking it. Mm-hmm. Darksideday: Ocon's seven like seven to one, eight to one for points, and Alonzo's like three to one. You wouldn't take that I mean a head to head like with them odds. f1capper: Although last week in the race I did I made the mistake of t Darksideday: No, I did I I did that as well. f1capper: I was like, my god, like Alonso's pace is actually really amazing. totally did not see that. I mean it didn't even sh it didn't really show they had pace. I don't maybe it was just they had higher fuel or something compared to to to Haas. Darksideday: I think they were stuck behind Albin and then they just overcut and you're like, And then it went for the one stop as well. f1capper: Well their pace was actually Alonzo's pace was actually pretty damn good. Like it was Darksideday: Yeah. f1capper: but for that track. So now we're at Monza, it's a h it's a it's a high power track. Honda lacks in their in their straight line speed. So I don't expect them to be the hype like they were the last week in the last two two races. So I think it's this is where they get exposed. Darksideday: Like maybe for the next one, I mean we're a back no, we're not on a back to back weekend, but for the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid, is that a high speed trade? I feel I don't know. There's like one bit, f1capper: I don't know. It kinda maybe it's kind of got Darksideday: isn't it? A banking bit. f1capper: Well, there's there's there's these straights and then it goes into a turn and these straights I don't know, maybe it's gonna be tough. I I I would maybe look at it as kinda like a Baku potentially, but I don't my my my Darksideday: No. I've just looked at the track map now. There's a few straight bits, but there's probably a lot of slow c slow enough corners, yeah. f1capper: Is it lost yeah, I c I can't I couldn't tell like how much distance or anything, so we'll see. I don't think I'm gonna get Darksideday: I was just gonna say, if they were terrible here and then they got a nice enough price for the next weekend, take it. f1capper: Yeah, and also we don't even know what this track surface is like. We're just gonna you know I don't even know what tires they're bringing. Like who I don't know. Yeah, that's gonna be a tricky one. That's one of those like we're diff Darksideday: All I know about that track is it had the cable stolen. That's all I know. f1capper: The cables? Darksideday: Yeah, they had like copper cables or something stolen at the track when they're trying to build it the f1capper: God. Darksideday: other day. f1capper: Are they actually finished with it? Like I remember seeing like No, it makes sense. God. Better get on it. Darksideday: No, I don't think so. Not yet. I think it's like the Saudi track and you know how long that that was close. Not built yet, f1capper: In this Darksideday: but f1capper: I thought is the Saudi track supposed be twenty twenty eight? Or is it next year? Darksideday: No, I meant Jeddah when it opened. Yeah. f1capper: when it opened yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, so I think that think I I don't know, I'm gonna be we're all gonna be flying blind on that one. So I if I'm gonna be cute with it, I'm just gonna make sure I see the odds that I feel are right and just based off what we know and the teams and drivers. And and then I'm gonna just take it session by session and then just pray that we hate we get it right. Just pray. So anything. Darksideday: Did you take anything else for the race at Monzo? f1capper: Let me make sure. Let me check. Did I? well these were all Calci hits. actually a couple group plays so Maxwell will like this one. Good old Dennis. it was on Caesars for the two I think it was like group two and four. Ghastly over Hulk, Alonzo Behrman at Even Money. I hate playing the chalk ones, but Obviously you know my opinion on Alonzo. I still think Haas is gonna be behind like they always have been this season. They've just been a disappointment when it comes to their development of their car this year. And this is goes back to Hulk is I just I don't know, maybe call it vibes too. He's I think he's gonna struggle. I think Audi is gonna struggle a little bit here because of their their deficit on on at high speed tracks. So I think that We'll finally I think we're kinda getting the value on on a Merc PU is what I'm backing here at this point. And I took on Cola too in his group, but that's a l less likely. It's a plus one seventy. I think I did point seven five units, but he has to beat out board in that and then stroll an Oak on. I I don't know. I'm not worried about the drivers driving here a lot you can put in any young driver and they know how to drive this place. It's not technical. It's they've probably driven it a million times too throughout their their young careers. So and Cola did well here when he was with Williams. I expect he's getting the up Who yeah, Darksideday: Make the freeze even to dwell here in these river. f1capper: yeah. Like you you see it over and over Laws and like these guys can get into the top ten. It's not a it's not an issue for them. But yeah, he also gets the he finally gets the Alpine upgrades too. So last race it was Ghastly that had the upgrades for for Alpine. Looked pretty good, pretty solid. So again, I think my my hypothesis here is I'm just fading outie. this is a way to fade with the Alpine. and I don't expect Aston Martin to be anywhere and I just think Haas is always gonna be behind this season at this point. Like I d I just don't see them making any gains. So Darksideday: One that I do like for the race, which you can't take yet. Maybe you f1capper: Mm. Which is. Darksideday: can, is Russell Kidney over Russell for the race. Russell f1capper: Dude. Darksideday: zero race pace. Give me he only ticked a safety car and he's there. f1capper: Yeah. I think he see I think he can get P four. I think he can get P four. Kimmy, that is. Yeah. Darksideday: Yeah. f1capper: I I Darksideday: you can get him right now. I'm not taking that. But you can get him right now at really let me see. Plus t plus two twenty. It's a bit short, but Yeah, maybe plus two fifty is a fair enough price and then you go, Yeah. Plus three hundred, f1capper: But we're splitting hairs there. Darksideday: yeah. f1capper: We're splitting here. Okay, well hold on. Darksideday: I think you'd get higher on race day, I'd be surprised. f1capper: I well w the situation that could happen is is he tears it up Friday, tears it up on Saturday, and like that number may drop. Darksideday: Or Russell could qualify P nine or something like that. Yeah. f1capper: Yeah, or something happens, right? Like I don't think it goes longer unless like Kimmy wrecks, which is obviously but that's in any situation that it can happen, right? I don't think he goes any longer. I think if anything he drops down to like maybe plus one seventy five or maybe Darksideday: Yeah. f1capper: it's maybe it stays floating at two to one. But it's not a bad play. Well like what what what's why is it why why was it a terrible play? Darksideday: Only 'cause his race pace at Zambor was terrible. f1capper: Okay. Darksideday: But he did qualify behind. Every time he qualifies behind Hamilton, he's usually terrible in race pace against him anyway. f1capper: So then we should take qualifying, is what you're saying. Darksideday: Yeah, yeah, I think so. f1capper: Because he has to qualify ahead, so and it's still one fifteen. Should we do qualifying?
