- 0:00Speaker 1: Eight oh six thirteen ten WIBA talking this morning with
- 0:05Speaker 1: Andrew Larson, our good friend from Larsen Home Services. The
- 0:08Speaker 1: website Larsenhomeservices dot com. That's l A. Rso N Home
- 0:14Speaker 1: Services dot com. Telephone number six oh eight five three
- 0:17Speaker 1: five forty three forty three. That's six oh eight five
- 0:20Speaker 1: three five forty three forty three. And Andrew. We talk
- 0:23Speaker 1: a lot about warranties, we talk about we talk about craftsmanship.
- 0:29Speaker 1: We talk about all the really really important things when
- 0:32Speaker 1: it comes to things like roofs, gutters, energy efficiency, those
- 0:38Speaker 1: type of things. We talk about all these really really
- 0:39Speaker 1: important things in overall value. Something we haven't talked about,
- 0:43Speaker 1: which is a really really important part of this conversation
- 0:47Speaker 1: is rebates, and specifically when it comes to making your
- 0:50Speaker 1: home more efficient. There's some really good stuff out there
- 0:54Speaker 1: for folks, isn't there, Andrew, and welcome to the show.
- 0:56Speaker 2: By the way, Hey, thanks, I was waiting for that.
- 1:00Speaker 2: We can jump right into it.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I'm excited. I don't know if you can tell.
- 1:07Speaker 2: So, Yeah, there are a lot of rebates, and there's
- 1:09Speaker 2: a lot of the reason I want to talk about
- 1:10Speaker 2: it is there's a lot of information going on or
- 1:14Speaker 2: being being spread around right now about some different rebates.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Many of you know who have worked with us or
- 1:21Speaker 2: looked us up. We are a focus on energy partner,
- 1:26Speaker 2: so we do a lot of home I like to
- 1:29Speaker 2: call it home performance work, yes a lot of people.
- 1:33Speaker 2: What really resonates with most of our customers is just insulation,
- 1:37Speaker 2: right people, We know that we need insulation in our walls,
- 1:40Speaker 2: we need insulation in our attic, But I like to
- 1:42Speaker 2: call it home performance work because the way that we
- 1:45Speaker 2: approach insulation work is more of a whole home performance issue,
- 1:50Speaker 2: and we like to educate the homeowner on how the
- 1:53Speaker 2: home works, as in air exchanges, because that's really what
- 1:56Speaker 2: we're talking about, is air exchange. Whether it's we're we're
- 2:01Speaker 2: heating that air and we're spreading it throughout the house
- 2:04Speaker 2: and then we lose that hot air, or we're cooling
- 2:07Speaker 2: the house and warm air infiltrates. It's all about air
- 2:10Speaker 2: exchanges and how how tight your home is or how
- 2:14Speaker 2: we fishent your home is really how we fish in
- 2:16Speaker 2: your home is is when it comes to air exchange
- 2:19Speaker 2: or heat and cool loss is our has to do
- 2:23Speaker 2: with air exchange. So there's a part of the inflation
- 2:27Speaker 2: Reduction Act. I have no idea how this is going
- 2:30Speaker 2: to reduce inflation. But the whole other conversation. What the
- 2:35Speaker 2: cool part is is that the state of Wisconsin has
- 2:37Speaker 2: been given a whole bunch of money from the federal
- 2:40Speaker 2: government to give away for energy saving home improvements. And
- 2:47Speaker 2: this is something that we do every single day. This
- 2:49Speaker 2: is something that we're really passionate about, is making homes
- 2:54Speaker 2: more comfortable, educating homeowners on how the home works as
- 2:59Speaker 2: well well as just a side effect of what we
- 3:02Speaker 2: do is that your energy bills should be reduced. So
- 3:09Speaker 2: about it as well. I mean, the way it's kind
- 3:11Speaker 2: of being portrayed is, you know, insulate your home, do
- 3:14Speaker 2: energy saving things, get a five thousand dollars rebate, which
- 3:18Speaker 2: is true in some cases, but it depends a lot
- 3:21Speaker 2: on income, it depends a lot on where you live.
- 3:25Speaker 2: There's a whole lot of things that go on with it.
- 3:28Speaker 2: And I wish I could come on here and be
- 3:30Speaker 2: like really specific, but again another conversation, but it is
- 3:36Speaker 2: a government program, so it obviously has to be really complicated,
- 3:40Speaker 2: and we can cue the chuckles on that one. But
- 3:45Speaker 2: we had if we actually had the Director of Focus
- 3:48Speaker 2: on Energy saver over to our office Monday, because we
- 3:52Speaker 2: really the information's confusion confusing, and the last thing that
- 3:56Speaker 2: we want to do is go into somebody's home and
- 3:59Speaker 2: promise themself something that we can't deliver or let them
- 4:02Speaker 2: know about rebates that they're not going to get. Here's
- 4:05Speaker 2: what we know. In order to qualify for the IRA
- 4:11Speaker 2: homes rebates, that's what it's called IRA Inflation Reduction Act
- 4:17Speaker 2: homes rebates, we first have to have a pretest on
- 4:22Speaker 2: your home. So a pretest done by a qualified auditor who,
- 4:26Speaker 2: honestly it has had to go through a whole bunch
- 4:30Speaker 2: of education learning how a whole home works, learning how
- 4:33Speaker 2: to model a whole home. And what I say model
- 4:35Speaker 2: is looking at the insulation, looking at the air ceiling,
- 4:37Speaker 2: looking at the windows, looking at the water, heater, HVAC,
- 4:40Speaker 2: all the appliances. And what they do is they put
- 4:44Speaker 2: and then they take energy bills, do all of these things.
- 4:46Speaker 2: They put it into a computer program and then they
- 4:49Speaker 2: can model the home by saying, okay, if we're going
- 4:51Speaker 2: to do ABC and D based on the way your
- 4:55Speaker 2: home is functioning right now, you're going to have x
- 4:57Speaker 2: percent of savings. What we have to do In order
- 5:01Speaker 2: to qualify for this IRA Homes rebate, is we have
- 5:05Speaker 2: to create a twenty percent energy savings, which actually can
- 5:12Speaker 2: be difficult to do with just insulating and air ceiling
- 5:17Speaker 2: and getting rims. We average roughly about an eighteen to
- 5:22Speaker 2: twenty one percent savings, right, so we're like right on
- 5:25Speaker 2: the cusp. So that's some homeowners if their home is
- 5:30Speaker 2: really under insulated, no air ceiling, we can get that
- 5:34Speaker 2: with just insulation, and depending on income and where you're located,
- 5:38Speaker 2: we can get you some really good money to make
- 5:40Speaker 2: your home more energy efficient with little sometimes little out
- 5:43Speaker 2: of pocket. Now sorry, go ahead.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Oh I was just going to ask you too, is
- 5:48Speaker 1: and I want to I as soon as you said now,
- 5:51Speaker 1: I'm like, wait a second. That wait, there's more, So
- 5:53Speaker 1: you want to hear what you're about to say. But
- 5:55Speaker 1: real quick, just about insulation as well. I know one
- 5:58Speaker 1: of the areas that that people as we're talking about
- 6:01Speaker 1: all these all these benefits, fantastic benefits of efficiency and
- 6:05Speaker 1: and you know, obviously ultimately you're saving money by by
- 6:09Speaker 1: lowering costs when it comes to heating and cooling your home.
- 6:11Speaker 1: The other thing too, and Andrew, I think it's just
- 6:14Speaker 1: important to note the kind of work that that your
- 6:17Speaker 1: crews do. I've talked about the work that you guys
- 6:19Speaker 1: did on my roof and just how how well you
- 6:21Speaker 1: treated my house and how well you treated my property.
- 6:24Speaker 1: That same stuff goes on when it comes to Addicts
- 6:26Speaker 1: and I told you I geek out thanks to photos
- 6:29Speaker 1: you shared over the years, I've I've kind of been
- 6:31Speaker 1: bitten by the bug that you have, which is I
- 6:33Speaker 1: now look at Addicts and your pictures of the before
- 6:36Speaker 1: and after of what was able to be done, and
- 6:38Speaker 1: just how these things kind of look glue and then
- 6:40Speaker 1: they look really beautiful. And again, something nobody's ever going
- 6:43Speaker 1: to see. But that's important to your teams and crews
- 6:45Speaker 1: as well, is to is to really clean that space
- 6:48Speaker 1: up and make sure that that not only is it
- 6:50Speaker 1: performing well, but everything's done right and you can actually
- 6:53Speaker 1: see with your own eyes while they took some time
- 6:56Speaker 1: to really do this do this job right.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean the worst part about doing really good
- 7:01Speaker 2: insulation work is that you actually cover up.
- 7:04Speaker 1: All the beauties.
- 7:06Speaker 2: I mean, there's nothing more beautiful than a clean attic
- 7:08Speaker 2: floor with an inch with an inch layer of beautiful
- 7:13Speaker 2: spray foam covering that whole floor. Now we know it's
- 7:16Speaker 2: air sealed perfectly, and then we throw in seventeen inches
- 7:19Speaker 2: of cellulose insulation. We cover up all the beautiful work,
- 7:22Speaker 2: but we know that it's done properly. And that's why
- 7:25Speaker 2: we're able to become a focus on energy partner because
- 7:28Speaker 2: they don't just partner. They really don't partner with just anybody.
- 7:32Speaker 2: They know how important customer service and quality is to us.
- 7:36Speaker 2: And listen for me to sit here and say that
- 7:38Speaker 2: we've never screwed up a job. Trust me, we've screwed
- 7:42Speaker 2: up jobs, but we will we will redo the jobs.
- 7:46Speaker 2: I mean, that's one thing. When you're a sales rep
- 7:48Speaker 2: for Larsen Home Services, you know that I would rather
- 7:52Speaker 2: lose money on a job and have someone be happier
- 7:55Speaker 2: satisfied in the end than to not do something properly
- 7:59Speaker 2: and have people that are that aren't satisfied. So I
- 8:03Speaker 2: guess my whole thing with this Rebates is we are
- 8:06Speaker 2: on the forefront of trying to become experts and decipher
- 8:11Speaker 2: how everything works because we don't want a homeowner to
- 8:14Speaker 2: do some work where there is eligible money for them
- 8:16Speaker 2: to get. One of the greatest things about the IRA
- 8:20Speaker 2: homes rebate is that we can stack focus on energy
- 8:23Speaker 2: rebates on top of it, so you can get both
- 8:28Speaker 2: as well. As there's another rebate program coming out called
- 8:32Speaker 2: the Here's Program. It's an acronym. Don't ask me what
- 8:36Speaker 2: it stands for because I can't remember, but there are
- 8:40Speaker 2: some more awesome rebates involved in that one. So just
- 8:44Speaker 2: know that we are working really hard to become experts
- 8:47Speaker 2: on these rebates to get home owners every bail, every
- 8:51Speaker 2: available rebate dollar that they can get. And for some people,
- 8:54Speaker 2: like if you are already, if you're already in the
- 8:56Speaker 2: market knowing like hey, I know I need air seal,
- 8:59Speaker 2: I know I need better insult, I know it's time
- 9:01Speaker 2: to upgrade my furnace, my AC unit, all of it.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Like there's some good money out there, I mean some
- 9:07Speaker 2: of these people. Once we can do some of these people,
- 9:09Speaker 2: we can reach a thirty five percent energy savings now
- 9:12Speaker 2: that those tiers go up. So it's something to keep
- 9:15Speaker 2: in mind. Although for some people it is difficult to
- 9:18Speaker 2: qualify for much. Some people might actually have to spend
- 9:21Speaker 2: extra money just to get a little bit of money,
- 9:24Speaker 2: which doesn't make sense for everybody, but certain people A
- 9:28Speaker 2: lot of retired people that are on fixed incomes, they're
- 9:31Speaker 2: going to qualify for a lot of money as well.
- 9:33Speaker 2: So again we're working our hardest to really put something
- 9:40Speaker 2: that is simplified together for our reps and for homeowners
- 9:44Speaker 2: to understand so that we can get every available dollar
- 9:48Speaker 2: for homeowners that's out there.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Something that's really important, as we talked this morning too,
- 9:52Speaker 1: is you don't know what's available until you start that conversation.
- 9:55Speaker 1: And I remember, you know, you and I had been
- 9:57Speaker 1: and I talk about my roof quite often that you
- 9:59Speaker 1: guys did a few years ago. You and I had
- 10:01Speaker 1: been talking for for a couple of years at that point,
- 10:04Speaker 1: and I thought, oh, I know everything there is to know,
- 10:07Speaker 1: and this is going to be you know, your folks
- 10:10Speaker 1: will come out and I'll actually just be going as
- 10:12Speaker 1: soon as I had the chance to talk with And
- 10:14Speaker 1: it's it's a testament to the team that you have
- 10:17Speaker 1: with you at Larstorm Services. They know their stuff inside
- 10:20Speaker 1: and out, and they really do diagnose problems and they're
- 10:24Speaker 1: also very very smart when it comes to things like
- 10:26Speaker 1: as we talk about rebates and other things, you don't
- 10:28Speaker 1: know what's available until you start that conversation. And that's
- 10:31Speaker 1: why Today is the day to get the folks from
- 10:34Speaker 1: Larstorm Services out your house. Have them take a look.
- 10:36Speaker 1: All I get to do is give them a call
- 10:37Speaker 1: six so eight five three five forty three forty three.
- 10:40Speaker 1: That's five three five four three four three. And don't also.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I think another mistake people make, Andrew, is they assume
- 10:46Speaker 1: because I've got a new home, it must be perfectly fine.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Things get missed. Let's be honest. Some not all builders
- 10:53Speaker 1: are fantastic when it comes to details. Sometimes they just
- 10:57Speaker 1: kind of cut a corner here or there. You really
- 10:59Speaker 1: want to make sure that house is performing, old, new,
- 11:01Speaker 1: or otherwise. And that's a great thing about Larst Home
- 11:03Speaker 1: Services Today Today, big phone, give a call five three
- 11:06Speaker 1: five forty three forty three. That's six so eight five
- 11:08Speaker 1: three five four three four three Online Larsen Home Services
- 11:12Speaker 1: dot com. That's l A R S O N Home
- 11:16Speaker 1: Services dot Com. Andrew, we could talk for another hour,
- 11:18Speaker 1: I know, and we'll bring us back around in a
- 11:21Speaker 1: couple of a couple more shows, but I.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Will say yeah, to learn more, We're going to be
- 11:26Speaker 2: putting out some really good podcasts kind of breaking all
- 11:29Speaker 2: this stuff down to decipher it for people to understand
- 11:32Speaker 2: what's available for them because there is a website that
- 11:36Speaker 2: they can go to and they can put in location information,
- 11:42Speaker 2: income information, and it's going to tell them what tier
- 11:44Speaker 2: they're at right away. That also helps us know where
- 11:47Speaker 2: they're at, so when we come over to do a
- 11:49Speaker 2: home evaluation, we know, okay, you're in this area and
- 11:53Speaker 2: you are in this income level. That's going to let
- 11:56Speaker 2: us really know where you're going to qualify and makes
- 11:58Speaker 2: it a lot easier for us to help you.
- 12:00Speaker 1: And you mentioned that stuff. I know you put it
- 12:01Speaker 1: up on your Facebook page as well, and I really
- 12:04Speaker 1: hope that folks are following Larson Home Services on social media.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Have some really great videos up there and some really
- 12:11Speaker 1: really cool stuff as well. Bort thing to do this morning,
- 12:13Speaker 1: pick up the phone, make them ring at Larsen Home
- 12:15Speaker 1: Services six oh eight five three five forty three forty three.
- 12:18Speaker 1: That's five three five four three four three. Andrew, it's
- 12:22Speaker 1: always great chatting with you, my friend. Have a fantastic Dan.
- 12:24Speaker 1: We'll do it all again real soon.
- 12:26Speaker 2: All right, next week. See yah.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Kevin ham Hams Barbacare joins us next year on thirteen ten.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Wiba
