- 0:04Speaker 1: Good morning, Good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome. Media's time
- 0:07Speaker 1: now for one on one with the pro. We've got
- 0:09Speaker 1: Truity Credit Union in the house today and it is
- 0:13Speaker 1: always a great pleasure to have Nicole in here with us.
- 0:15Speaker 1: How you doing, miss McKinney, I'm good.
- 0:17Speaker 2: How are you doing well?
- 0:18Speaker 1: I'm wonderful. You know, it's back to school time and
- 0:22Speaker 1: Trudy's going to miss out on this opportunity to make folks,
- 0:26Speaker 1: you know, during this high stress time a little easier. Yeah,
- 0:29Speaker 1: so tell us what we've got for back to school
- 0:32Speaker 1: with Truity Better Way to Bank.
- 0:35Speaker 2: So we have a lot of things going on right now.
- 0:37Speaker 3: For the last two weeks, we've actually gone to several
- 0:40Speaker 3: schools and all of our markets and we've done our
- 0:44Speaker 3: back to school so we've done teacher breakfasts, teacher lunches,
- 0:48Speaker 3: and some of my favorite things are here in Barnasville.
- 0:51Speaker 3: We actually just did our hashtag think a Teacher campaign
- 0:54Speaker 3: where we took fifty dollars to every teacher in Bartisville
- 0:57Speaker 3: Public Schools District and Dewey Public Schools Strict.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Nice, what a way to get it. Didn't have any sweay, No,
- 1:04Speaker 1: you're already out of school. I think you never mind,
- 1:06Speaker 1: never mind me wayward youth. But anyway, that's a great
- 1:10Speaker 1: way to start it because you know those teachers, they
- 1:12Speaker 1: work hard and every little bit counts, and sometimes you know,
- 1:16Speaker 1: it comes out of their own pocket to have things
- 1:19Speaker 1: all ready to go for the classroom thinking they're yeah,
- 1:23Speaker 1: you know you folks in truated. You never miss an
- 1:25Speaker 1: opportunity to make life a little bit better for folks.
- 1:28Speaker 3: And this is actually the ninth year that we've done
- 1:30Speaker 3: that really, so next year it will be year number ten,
- 1:33Speaker 3: so we're excited to see some maybe some new changes,
- 1:36Speaker 3: some things added.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Yeah, tell us about these Spirit cards. It seems like
- 1:40Speaker 1: every year we're either going to get one or we
- 1:43Speaker 1: do have another school that's participating.
- 1:46Speaker 3: We do, so we actually just launched our PUHUSCA Public
- 1:49Speaker 3: School Spirits Card, so that one is new to the lineup,
- 1:52Speaker 3: so people can actually order that right now to get
- 1:55Speaker 3: it mailed to them. And then we're also doing our
- 1:57Speaker 3: Spirit Card promotions where you get twenty five dollars for
- 2:00Speaker 3: you if you get a new Spirit card, so that's
- 2:02Speaker 3: for either Bartasville, Pahaska or our Dewey Spirit Card. And
- 2:06Speaker 3: then we give twenty five dollars back to the district
- 2:08Speaker 3: just forgetting that card.
- 2:10Speaker 1: What a way to go.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it's awesome.
- 2:13Speaker 1: You get to support your school, you get to take
- 2:15Speaker 1: care of business with some of the best people around,
- 2:17Speaker 1: and you get a little lecture in your pocket. Dude,
- 2:19Speaker 1: this is great.
- 2:20Speaker 3: And every time they swipe that card, a portion of
- 2:22Speaker 3: those proceeds go back to the schools too.
- 2:25Speaker 1: And you can do that because you're a credit union.
- 2:28Speaker 1: You're not beholding to evolks in New York City, yeah,
- 2:31Speaker 1: or California. Thank goodness, it's all right here. Centrally located
- 2:36Speaker 1: in Bartlesfield. You've got a couple of wonderful locations, by
- 2:39Speaker 1: the way. I like going down to the downtown one
- 2:41Speaker 1: because you know, suddenly you walk in there and you
- 2:45Speaker 1: see that big old mural and then you got the
- 2:47Speaker 1: friendly people and everything. I only see something I miss
- 2:50Speaker 1: on the mural. Isn't that wild?
- 2:52Speaker 3: It's Yeah, it's so nice to be able to see
- 2:54Speaker 3: and experience. And our branch on seventy five also has
- 2:57Speaker 3: the new it's fairly new that drive, so it makes
- 3:00Speaker 3: it easier for members to get in and out. But
- 3:03Speaker 3: my favorite stop right now is our Dewey IM so
- 3:06Speaker 3: if you've never used one, you can do anything you
- 3:08Speaker 3: could do at a taller station at our IM.
- 3:10Speaker 2: So you can withdraw cash, you can deposit cash, you
- 3:13Speaker 2: can deposit checks. You can even talk to a live
- 3:15Speaker 2: teller too.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I was going to say, that's pretty fancy, because you know,
- 3:20Speaker 1: here you are, you're in Dewey taking care of business,
- 3:23Speaker 1: minding your own and you're talking with somebody in the
- 3:26Speaker 1: next down over and they're taking care of your banking
- 3:28Speaker 1: just like you're right there. That's cool. Yeah, that is
- 3:31Speaker 1: so cool. Tell us a little bit about this laptop giveaway.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Yeah, so right now we're doing a giveaway for all
- 3:37Speaker 3: of the college students in all of our markets. You
- 3:39Speaker 3: can actually go to trudycu dot org slash win and
- 3:43Speaker 3: you can enter to win. We're giving away a MacBook.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Now, let's go over that U r L again. What's
- 3:49Speaker 1: the web address.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Trudy seu dot org slash win.
- 3:54Speaker 2: That's easy, super easy. Yes.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I had to ask Twicke because it sounded so easy
- 3:58Speaker 1: to be I can do that.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Yep, even you can do it.
- 4:03Speaker 1: I do want to fay thank you to the folks
- 4:05Speaker 1: who put together your website because there's always it seems
- 4:08Speaker 1: to me something new whenever I check in online, and
- 4:12Speaker 1: I check in online often, you know, to check my
- 4:15Speaker 1: savings account, see how I'm doing on paying off a car,
- 4:20Speaker 1: and seeing what kind of neat things I'm eligible to do. Yeah,
- 4:24Speaker 1: because they bring up all this information that I really
- 4:28Speaker 1: up until the time I started, you know, looking at
- 4:31Speaker 1: your website with that kind of interest, I didn't know
- 4:33Speaker 1: was available. You've got all kinds of perks and extras
- 4:36Speaker 1: and just interesting things, Yeah, that you're able to do
- 4:40Speaker 1: simply by being a member of a credit union. Yeah.
- 4:44Speaker 3: One of the cool things that we're actually offering right
- 4:46Speaker 3: now is a five month CD at four point three
- 4:48Speaker 3: five percent.
- 4:50Speaker 2: So that's a really great rate for a CD.
- 4:52Speaker 1: It sure is. And once again, you know these things
- 4:56Speaker 1: I remember back in the seventies and eight those were
- 5:00Speaker 1: a big deal and then they kind of got people
- 5:04Speaker 1: got quiet about it for a while, and now they're
- 5:06Speaker 1: they're back in vogue and people are using him. It's
- 5:08Speaker 1: a it's a very good financial tool, good instrument to
- 5:12Speaker 1: get yourself acquainted with. And of course, uh, it's not
- 5:17Speaker 1: like you walk in and say, how what what was
- 5:20Speaker 1: that CD? Well, you've got people who will explain that
- 5:23Speaker 1: to you. And if you just get online, you got
- 5:26Speaker 1: to chat person, which is a real person. It's a
- 5:30Speaker 1: person that will talk with you. You can pick up
- 5:32Speaker 1: the phone or you can just go up there in person.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Because you know that works pretty well in our community.
- 5:37Speaker 1: I think a lot of people prefer that to see
- 5:39Speaker 1: who they're talking to. It does, and you get that
- 5:43Speaker 1: one to one service and it's really appreciated. So you've
- 5:47Speaker 1: got that going for you too. Another thing is is
- 5:50Speaker 1: that there's this thing called an app. It's wonderful.
- 5:57Speaker 2: It is.
- 5:57Speaker 1: I used to be afraid of those things because I
- 6:00Speaker 1: didn't know really what they were. I wouldn't say afraid.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I was skeptical. And now I can't imagine doing my
- 6:09Speaker 1: work with Truity today without it, and I wonder how
- 6:12Speaker 1: I got by without it well.
- 6:14Speaker 3: And our app is very user friendly and easy to use.
- 6:18Speaker 3: One of my favorite features is you can deposit a
- 6:20Speaker 3: check just from your phone, so you can do anything
- 6:23Speaker 3: you can in a branch online.
- 6:26Speaker 1: And it's safe and secure. And you've got people even
- 6:30Speaker 1: at the at the top desk, who know a lot
- 6:32Speaker 1: about this cybersecurity stuff. Yes, and that is that is
- 6:37Speaker 1: primo and that makes a lot of people rest very
- 6:40Speaker 1: comfortably because there are so many people involved who do
- 6:44Speaker 1: know about this and how many different layers of protection
- 6:47Speaker 1: that you actually have when you when you do your
- 6:50Speaker 1: business with Truity A better way to bang so really cool.
- 6:56Speaker 1: One other thing is that you can ask questions about
- 6:59Speaker 1: whether or not you're eligible for a home loan or
- 7:01Speaker 1: a car loan and see if you're in the ballpark online.
- 7:04Speaker 1: You don't have to, you know, really work up the
- 7:07Speaker 1: courage to say you're kind of feeling your way through
- 7:12Speaker 1: there and you're thinking, maybe a car purchase will be
- 7:15Speaker 1: in my future. Yeah, my goodness sakes, we got another
- 7:18Speaker 1: kid on the way, or we're going to we need
- 7:20Speaker 1: more bedrooms. What are we going to do? And you
- 7:24Speaker 1: can actually go to the website and kind of feel
- 7:27Speaker 1: your way around there to put yourself in the ballpark
- 7:29Speaker 1: in the arena and see what it's going to do
- 7:32Speaker 1: for you.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Yeah, we have calculators on our website so you can
- 7:35Speaker 3: see what you can.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Afford and what you can do, and then if.
- 7:39Speaker 3: You feel like you're able to afford it, you can
- 7:41Speaker 3: actually go ahead and submit your applications online, which makes
- 7:44Speaker 3: it easier.
- 7:45Speaker 2: That way, you can have it instantly, and you also
- 7:49Speaker 2: can you.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Know, be prepared mentally as well as you know intellectually
- 7:54Speaker 1: what's going on there too. Really amazing. You kids are
- 7:58Speaker 1: also paintsy yet still down to earth in that home.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Now we have branches not only here in Bartlesville, but Lawrence, Kansas.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Yes, we have branches and Lawrence it's a Latha. And
- 8:11Speaker 3: then we have some in our Houston market too. They're
- 8:13Speaker 3: in Phillips sixty six and Conico Phillips.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Well, I goodness sake, she got it all right there. Yeah,
- 8:18Speaker 1: how do you like that? How long have you been
- 8:21Speaker 1: with Truity?
- 8:22Speaker 2: It will be ten years in January.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Well, you're not old enough to be ten years anywhere,
- 8:27Speaker 1: but I'll take your word for it.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:29Speaker 1: And did you start out to where you are as
- 8:31Speaker 1: a business development officer? Start out something else?
- 8:35Speaker 3: I started out as a teller coordinator, So I was
- 8:37Speaker 3: in retail for about a year and then I've been
- 8:39Speaker 3: in business development ever since.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Wow. Nice, Yeah, my goodness. I understand that there are
- 8:45Speaker 1: all kinds of opportunities for those who may be seeking
- 8:48Speaker 1: employment with Trudy. Once again is go to the website
- 8:51Speaker 1: and that is Truity SeeU dot org.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Yes we are hiring, so take a look at our
- 8:57Speaker 3: website to see what is available.
- 9:00Speaker 1: And everywhere I go in the community, I see somebody
- 9:03Speaker 1: that either hands a Truity pullover or a pull Over
- 9:07Speaker 1: shirt or even a little badge. Whether I'm at one
- 9:11Speaker 1: of the events at the schools or maybe it's a
- 9:16Speaker 1: nonprofit having a fundraiser or a big fun event, is
- 9:19Speaker 1: always from somebody from Truity who's in the mix. And
- 9:23Speaker 1: it's good to see that.
- 9:25Speaker 3: Yes, we're big community partners and we want to volunteer.
- 9:29Speaker 3: We want to support the communities that we serve, and
- 9:32Speaker 3: so it's very important to us as Truity employees and
- 9:35Speaker 3: to the company to be involved and to be present.
- 9:38Speaker 3: And I know as a parent, I love seeing that.
- 9:41Speaker 3: I love seeing people who support my kids as schools
- 9:43Speaker 3: and everything that they do too.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Let's get back to the Spirit cards. So these are
- 9:48Speaker 1: like debit cards, not like they are debit cards, but
- 9:51Speaker 1: it also has your school logo on there. And how
- 9:54Speaker 1: does one go about procuring one of these nice little things.
- 9:59Speaker 3: They can actually go into any of our branches and
- 10:02Speaker 3: get one instantly printed. The only one right now that
- 10:04Speaker 3: we cannot is the PUSCA card because it's so new.
- 10:07Speaker 3: But if you have a student who goes to Try
- 10:10Speaker 3: County Tech, or you're a teacher, you can also get
- 10:12Speaker 3: our Tri County Tech Spirit Card, our Bruined Spirit Card,
- 10:15Speaker 3: our Dewey Spirit Card, and then our PUSCA one we
- 10:18Speaker 3: can have mailed to you.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Nice that easy. Yeah, I didn't see you know. Nicole
- 10:23Speaker 1: comes in here and she just takes all the complication
- 10:25Speaker 1: right out of things, just puts it right out there
- 10:29Speaker 1: for you. I like that. Now, when we talk about
- 10:31Speaker 1: business development, we're talking about basically you and me. We're
- 10:36Speaker 1: talking about people who may not have ever thought of
- 10:40Speaker 1: what a credit union is, let alone what a credit
- 10:42Speaker 1: union does and how beneficial it is to someone. So
- 10:45Speaker 1: I'm going to ask you, put you on the spot. Okay,
- 10:48Speaker 1: First of all, what's the difference between a credit union
- 10:50Speaker 1: and a bank?
- 10:52Speaker 3: Say so, I actually love this question. But a credit
- 10:55Speaker 3: union is a not for profit and banks are for profit.
- 10:59Speaker 3: But really, our credit and motto is people helping people.
- 11:01Speaker 3: So that's why we like to serve in our communities
- 11:04Speaker 3: and help our members the best way possible.
- 11:07Speaker 1: And when you become a member, you're also a shareholder.
- 11:10Speaker 2: You are, Yeah, you're part owner hot diggity.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it works that.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Way, huh, it does. It's that easy.
- 11:18Speaker 1: And sometimes when it comes to scouring for rates, not
- 11:22Speaker 1: only are you competitive, but you're also able to meet
- 11:25Speaker 1: other offers in many cases because of your business model.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Yes, because credit unions operate. When people open their accounts there,
- 11:33Speaker 3: we use that money to make lower rates for our members,
- 11:37Speaker 3: So we're not investing back to shareholders, we're investing back
- 11:40Speaker 3: into our members.
- 11:41Speaker 1: That easy, truly, as they say, a better way to
- 11:45Speaker 1: bank now at the big office downtown. Some folks will
- 11:51Speaker 1: see that and they'll say, oh my gosh, I thinks huge,
- 11:53Speaker 1: that's gargantuan. Oh my gosh, I'm a little don't be
- 11:56Speaker 1: overwhelmed going and it's a really kind of it's beautiful,
- 11:59Speaker 1: but not only that, very friendly people. Your first encounter
- 12:04Speaker 1: will likely be someone at the teller, and sometimes you
- 12:09Speaker 1: might have a question. They can direct you to someone
- 12:12Speaker 1: who's usually right there, probably just off to the left
- 12:17Speaker 1: in one of the little kiosk offices. They can really
- 12:20Speaker 1: sit down with you and explain your situation to you
- 12:25Speaker 1: and let you know what kind of opportunities you may
- 12:28Speaker 1: or may not have. And also there are plenty of
- 12:31Speaker 1: people upstairs that are really smart and they can really
- 12:35Speaker 1: take you a long way when it comes to I
- 12:37Speaker 1: don't know, maybe a home loan, car loan, maybe trying
- 12:41Speaker 1: to set up something for savings for the future for
- 12:44Speaker 1: you and your family. So it's not like your a
- 12:48Speaker 1: one trick pony. You've got a whole lot of different
- 12:52Speaker 1: instruments and different avenues for people to save and perhaps spend. Yes,
- 12:58Speaker 1: we do in the city is really something else. Right now,
- 13:03Speaker 1: it's nine at fifty six and we're speaking with Nicole
- 13:07Speaker 1: McKinney and she's built a business developer officer here at
- 13:12Speaker 1: credit at Truity Credit Union. So again with the back
- 13:16Speaker 1: to school, we've got the Spirit cards and the laptop giveaway.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Is this just for college students?
- 13:23Speaker 2: The laptop giveaway is just for college students.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Yes, got to show your college ID.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Yes.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Now if you if you're a college student is a
- 13:34Speaker 1: little bit older than the traditional college student. As long
- 13:37Speaker 1: as you got that college idea, you're you're in business.
- 13:39Speaker 2: As long as you're enrolled in college, you can enter
- 13:41Speaker 2: to win.
- 13:42Speaker 1: There you go. And that's a great way to introduce
- 13:44Speaker 1: folks to your products. It really is. And also with
- 13:48Speaker 1: the Spirit Cards, too. It makes it kind of fun.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Now you your mom, you got kids and they're in school.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Right, yes, both of them are.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, so I know how this. I had seven,
- 14:02Speaker 1: they're all grown up now. Last one just graduated this
- 14:05Speaker 1: past May, and I know what that's like. Suddenly you're
- 14:09Speaker 1: in school and it's all about the school, and your
- 14:11Speaker 1: whole life is revolving about the school. And that's the thing.
- 14:14Speaker 1: You know. It just kind of makes sense to get
- 14:16Speaker 1: the card because your kids are practically living there, if
- 14:19Speaker 1: they're in activities and everything else like that, and it's
- 14:22Speaker 1: always nice to know that. It's a nice little measure.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Now I see representatives from Truity because I covered the
- 14:27Speaker 1: school board meetings from time to time. Yes, every now
- 14:30Speaker 1: and then. They'll come in a certain time of the
- 14:33Speaker 1: year and they have this great, big six foot check
- 14:37Speaker 1: that they present to the school board. And this is
- 14:40Speaker 1: from the money that was used by members of Truity
- 14:44Speaker 1: with their spirit cards. Just that penny here and a
- 14:47Speaker 1: penny there. That adds up to substantial dollars for the schools.
- 14:52Speaker 2: It does. It adds up to quite a bit.
- 14:54Speaker 3: We actually have some funds that we need to give
- 14:57Speaker 3: back to the schools.
- 14:58Speaker 2: So keep an eye out for that.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Will We'll keep an eye out for that. And it's
- 15:02Speaker 1: always kind of funny because you know, I see some
- 15:04Speaker 1: of the folks that we have here on the on
- 15:06Speaker 1: the radio show, and they'll be the ones walking in
- 15:10Speaker 1: that big six foot check. Yeah, whoa, Sarah, you need help.
- 15:18Speaker 1: It's it's good to see. And it just doesn't happen
- 15:20Speaker 1: to Bartlesville. Happens that do we Trey County Tech and
- 15:24Speaker 1: soon Bosco. Yes, So coming to a school board meeting
- 15:28Speaker 1: near you six foot checks from Trudy And it's all
- 15:32Speaker 1: because you got the Spirit card and you showed your
- 15:36Speaker 1: spirit and you use that card making transactions and every
- 15:41Speaker 1: time you do that, a portion of the proceeds. Because
- 15:43Speaker 1: they're not a corporation that's in it for profits, it's nonprofit.
- 15:47Speaker 1: That money's got to go somewhere, so might as well
- 15:49Speaker 1: go to a place where it's going to be used best.
- 15:51Speaker 2: And yeah, that's that's your screen back to our school districts.
- 15:54Speaker 2: That's what's most important.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Very good. How do we get hold of you? We
- 15:58Speaker 1: got a question, Nicole.
- 16:00Speaker 3: Well, you can call in, you can email me, you
- 16:04Speaker 3: can text me.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Some people even find me on Facebook and so any
- 16:09Speaker 2: way that they need to get a hold of us.
- 16:11Speaker 1: We answer, well, that is tremendous. I want to thank
- 16:14Speaker 1: you and everybody your Truity and thanks for letting you
- 16:19Speaker 1: loose for a little bit. Come on down here, play
- 16:20Speaker 1: on the radio a little bit. You never really place
- 16:22Speaker 1: the balp business all business and all information, all information,
- 16:27Speaker 1: all information. But it's great to have you on board today. Folks.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Just say hi to Nicole next time you stop buying
- 16:33Speaker 1: Truity A better way to bank. Thanks for listening to
- 16:40Speaker 1: one on one with a professional, A paid presentation at
- 16:42Speaker 1: fourteen hundred K one
