- 0:26It is time to leave your worries outside join me. Daniel Mallley trade Trendholm
- 0:32and in for raz Sharma today. Not gonna lie. It's an upgrade comedian,
- 0:41television host and friend of the Treehouse for many years. Mister Tombey,
- 0:47what's happening fellas? Oh did you just roll out of bed? Yes?
- 0:55Thank you for being honest. I appreciate yes, yes, yes. I
- 0:57have a very few players today because I get hit the road tomorrow. So
- 1:02I was going to do nothing. And when you call me to fill in,
- 1:04I go, I'm not going to do anything special. Nothing I wouldn't
- 1:07do. I'm not getting dressed. All got today is a haircut and pack
- 1:11some bags. So you're getting rogue tone today, Dan, we'll take it.
- 1:15Yeah. I figured you either just rolled out of bed or you're just
- 1:17coming off of Jedi training. Either way, thank you for taking the time.
- 1:21Well, I mean, if I can't take I gotta tell you what
- 1:23you might believe, not the truth. I also appreciate that, and have
- 1:27and have. I've always appreciated the honesty and our relationship throughout the years.
- 1:33M hm, oh man, the I just wish. I hate the fact
- 1:38you have a different background today and I turned from I turned from that,
- 1:42Well, I forget the background. Oh they have the bottles last time?
- 1:45What did I have last time? Last time it was in it was in
- 1:48your kitchen with the balance in the background that you were very proud. Yeah
- 1:51yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Uh, she's gonna be moving around and
- 1:53all that today in the in the kitchen, so not cooking, but moving
- 1:57around, you know what I mean. So I didn't want to just have
- 2:00her in the back and but yeah, next time we do this, I'll
- 2:04bring the balance back because it's there. I still like the idea of you
- 2:07just taking it with you everywhere your go. It's just always your backdrop.
- 2:12I mean, I'm a classy brad man. I'm saying some people don't even
- 2:15realize how how distinguished a balance really is. Well one just a name.
- 2:23I mean, it's like, uh, it's like a buick you can keep
- 2:25with you. And full disclosure, I didn't even know what the hell of
- 2:31balance was until until the last time we had you on the show. I
- 2:38just thought it was just a small curtain over a window. Turns out there's
- 2:42a fancy name for it, and I mean it's a relicant. What it
- 2:45is I mean, it's it's hard to find them, but we got what
- 2:47we got one. Congratulations. I bet there's a whole section on Pinterest of
- 2:54just a balance. Oh it's as it should call them, inside awnings.
- 3:00See that's see exactly. It's like, I didn't know the actual name of
- 3:02it, so you come up with, you know, descriptive words to describe
- 3:06what the hell it is you're talking about. Until someone you know who knows
- 3:09more about home decre than you do, like you do. No, no,
- 3:13no, you idiot. That's called a balance. Okay, now now
- 3:15I'm in the know. Now I'm I've seen the light and I appreciate it.
- 3:21No worries, and we're getting rid of it soon. So well not
- 3:24not before we do it again, before we do this again. Okay,
- 3:28good, Yeah, I guess you could always put it in a museum.
- 3:31Let's hope somebody wants it, maybe something. I'm sure there's some there's some
- 3:36old white lady out somewhere that would love to have it. Yeah, if
- 3:39you see one, I will. If I tell them, they're gonna be
- 3:45like, there's no way you have a balance. I promise you, lady,
- 3:47I have a balance. I'll tell you what I'll mention it to my
- 3:50mother and we'll see what We'll see what she says. So if you if
- 3:53you want to do away with that, I got my mom and grend Prairie
- 3:55will probably take it off your hand. Next Timmer come to Ballace, we
- 4:00meet up, so I try not to peel the curtain back too much.
- 4:03Obviously when whenever we record a show, because like people to think that,
- 4:06hey, you whenever you hit play, it's like we live in your device.
- 4:11We live in the phone waiting for you to hit play, and then
- 4:13we just pop up and start doing our thing. But obviously we record stuff.
- 4:17Now. The reason I bring that up is because I'm trying to figure
- 4:20out, Tom, what were you doing last night that you're still wearing your
- 4:24sleepy time robe and everything, because since you just rolled out of bed,
- 4:30it's not like seven am that we're recording. I'm not a tyrant. No
- 4:32no, so I don't. I don't. I mean I'm usually up late.
- 4:36I'm usually up like I Actually I got into bed pretty early compared to
- 4:39most nights. I mean I probably get into bed about two two thirty and
- 4:45then wake up about ten eleven, depending on like my because I mean,
- 4:48we don't have kids yet or anything. So it's like I got time in
- 4:51and by some she goes a bit. I can get my writing done at
- 4:54late, you know, sketch stuff out. I can. I can u
- 5:00getting my notebook. I can look at videos from past shows and all that
- 5:01kind of stuff without being bothered. Dogs that bother me. He's already been
- 5:04out the pee. And then I wake up whenever I do wake up,
- 5:08ten eleven o'clock, and then I put my robe on. It's a little
- 5:11chilly today, so put my robe on so I have somewhere to go.
- 5:13I'm not I'm here also, damn what I'm really doing to save in the
- 5:15environment. I'm not just waisting clothes out of nowhere. I put the robe
- 5:19on until it's time for me to get dressed. It all ready. Thank
- 5:25you, I thanks, thanks for your helping hand of nothingness. Please tell
- 5:33me that's not your assistant. No, I mean, well, I mean
- 5:36that's what they kind of are. I mean they like, look, man,
- 5:40that's what almost marriage is. Right. Well, I think in most
- 5:45marriages it's more like you're you're either the boss or the assistant, and there's
- 5:48there's always that everybody becomes a boss and everybody becomes the assistant at some point,
- 5:53so it and isn't it fun when the tables turned and you get to
- 5:57be the boss? Or am I just that's just my thoughts? Well,
- 6:01uh, yes, thank you for feeling that with me. How often does
- 6:08that happen? Shut up, Trey? For six times a month? That
- 6:15happens for you, That happens to you at least once a week. Yeah,
- 6:19I was gonna say like four to six times per year. Oh well,
- 6:24I mean you've been in long than I have, then that is true.
- 6:28You've been able to be a boss longer than me. Yeah. Well
- 6:30no, that's kind of the other one, thet the way around there.
- 6:34No, well, that's not how I take my six times a month as
- 6:39the boss. Okay, gotch Okay, we were on the same page.
- 6:42A good. The The interesting thing is, at least it's better. It's
- 6:47not like I'm the boss only when the Olympics come around or or or like
- 6:51World Cup or something like that. At least it's a little more than that
- 6:56that that she lets me, you know, thank it? Yeah? Yeah,
- 6:59I I so wait, you get to be a boss every four years?
- 7:04Or no? No, no, I said, it's not that bad.
- 7:06It's it's it's more like quarterly okay, oh yeah, I mean that's
- 7:13still sad, but like the yeah, that's uh yeah, I get to
- 7:19punch in. I get the clock in more often than that. But also
- 7:23I put in a nice uh double triple shift whenever I get the clock in,
- 7:29and uh so that my presence is felt throughout my next my next shift,
- 7:34you know, smart yeah residual boss. Yeah yeah, yeah, Well
- 7:41does it does it matter at all in your relationship that when when when she's
- 7:46being the boss and you're being the assistant, do you ever try to force
- 7:48the issue and say no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 7:49hey, hey, one of us in this relationship was nominated for n
- 7:55double a c P Image Award, and that's not you. Uh yeah,
- 8:00but because it's be honest, the assistant knows more than the boss ever knows
- 8:03that it really is way more important to be the assistance. That is true.
- 8:09It is. Yeah, however we delude ourselves to get through the day
- 8:13is really a testament to our resolve. Like you know what, get these
- 8:20titles out of here, whatever whatever it is, I'm still in charge,
- 8:28I think. I usually I usually hang on the uh no, no,
- 8:30no, we're a team. We're a team. Yeah, go ahead.
- 8:37I want is terror there because I'd like her to hear this. You know,
- 8:39you're saying, you know about the assistant really being smarter than the boss
- 8:43and everything else that has no bearing on the conversation, the fact that she
- 8:50is upstairs on a conference call with clients, and all of a sudden,
- 8:54I'm growing a parent talking about how I make decisions around here that has nothing
- 8:58one has nothing to do the other, and I don't appreciate the insinuation.
- 9:01Also, lower your voice. The best part is I get a chance to
- 9:05say this on stage live all the time. So this is this is common.
- 9:09This is common banter in my house. Yeah, this is a I
- 9:13mean I talk all this kind of I mean, it's very rude to other
- 9:18people when they go, I can't believe you get away with that. I
- 9:20go, it's the only way some go down around here. Baby. Yeah,
- 9:24Because when you go on stage and talk about that stuff, that's an
- 9:26outlet, because otherwise it's not like you're walking around the living room saying that
- 9:30stuff because you'll get hurt. No. No, I say, I got
- 9:33to try to the living room and then I say it on stage. Oh
- 9:35so she's your test audience as well. Absolutely hates it. But then like
- 9:41then she's donn play with it. So like if you get something thrown at
- 9:46you, is that when you know it's really good? Oh man, there's
- 9:48a lot of crying in the closet for her for you. Yeah, well,
- 9:52it depends on which closet you're talking about. She'll go cry in the
- 9:56closet, and then I will go just sleeping together room, which sometimes is
- 10:01my plan all along because I just want to get a good, nice sleep.
- 10:03You just want to stretch out. Sometimes I just go, oh man,
- 10:07I just get mad. M Air quotes at nothing just so she's like,
- 10:13what happened? And then I'm like, you know what, just I
- 10:15need. I need to get a good, nice sleep. I will sleep.
- 10:16I will see you in the morning. And I wasn't mad at anything
- 10:20at all. Good old fashioned, good old fashion of relationship manipulation. Yeah,
- 10:24what do you call it? A gaslight? And I don't know what
- 10:26these terms mean these days, but everything's got to Everything has a label and
- 10:31a term these days. It all just falls under the umbrella bullshit. Yeah.
- 10:35Yeah. I was doing another show recently and some some host was asking
- 10:41me about trauma and anxiety and gaslight and I was like, I'm sorry,
- 10:45I haven't graduated to those words yet. I just go worried. Bad experience,
- 10:52you know, I don't have. I don't I'm not mature enough to
- 10:56move on from uh yo, man, some shit, just it wasn't good
- 11:00today. Yeah, And I and I think because we're all about we're all
- 11:03about the same age, and we we grew up in that time as as
- 11:07gen X. We grew up in the time that you fall down, you
- 11:11scrape your knee, you you you blow on it with some bactine or something,
- 11:16if you had that luxury, and you go about the rest of your
- 11:18day, and that's all it was. Is it broken? And also the
- 11:24uh the the words we use to describe our feelings or our day were mostly
- 11:31monosyllabic, like you're saying tone, It's like, how was your day good?
- 11:33How was your day sad? Bad, good, fun, whatever.
- 11:37Now it's more like, well with a gas lighting experience, You're right,
- 11:41I mean it's all these turns. Yeah, it's also exhausting learning all the
- 11:46new words. Somebody ghastly me today, somebody pissed you off? Mm hmm,
- 11:52you mean someone lied to you, to you, it's okay, that's
- 11:56gonna happen. You guess what, they're gonna stop happening. You're gonna be
- 11:58gasling. You're about to burn up about this gas you know what. The
- 12:03one thing I really do think you're talking about, like falling down, scraping
- 12:07your knee, whatever. When we were kids, it wasn't even the pain
- 12:11so much of the scratch or the cut or whatever that would really get you
- 12:16or and like get you to start crying. It was the thought, like
- 12:20my dad, if I gotta cut, he had this stuff. It was
- 12:22called methiolate. It was basically iodine. It's this orangeish red stuff and it
- 12:28stings like alcohol times ten. Like if you put alcohol in a wound,
- 12:33take that times ten. That's mythiolate. And that was his cure. All
- 12:37Jesus, you gotta cut, Slap some mathiolate on it, like I know.
- 12:43Some way we had insurance and then so many times I should have gone
- 12:46to the hospital. Oh yeah, we just did not go to the doctor
- 12:50at all. I mean I got a broken finger still because of it.
- 12:54Like it's it's wild, but it's at the same time, you go,
- 12:56all right, man, it is. It is what it is. And
- 13:00then you see these soft ass kids out here who got I mean maybe we
- 13:05didn't get enough hugs, but these this generation got too many. And there
- 13:07you go. I mean, then he splut the difference on these hugs.
- 13:11Yeah, yeah, I think train and I've talked about this before. It's
- 13:13basically generational overcorrection. Is like we grew up as somewhat like like latch key
- 13:22kids, Like we were trusted from an early age, arguably too early,
- 13:26but we were trusted at an early age to get ourselves to and from school,
- 13:31to and from the property. Yeah. Yeah, because like the next
- 13:35two hours you were in charge of the domain of the homestead. Did they
- 13:41really trust us or was it just they didn't give a shit in bad parenting?
- 13:46No, they it was cheaper, Like there's no other option. That's
- 13:48two hours. That's too hour. Period was hell for a parent to go.
- 13:54Man, from three thirty to five thirty. I need to figure out
- 13:56what to do with this motherfucker right here. Wait, what school has free
- 14:01after school care? My parents used to just tell me to get the attention.
- 14:05Look that's free. We can't pick you up. Yeah, detention is
- 14:09free childcare. I caire, we gotta pay board attentions, free talk during
- 14:13English class, Okay, you get your homework done in there. It was
- 14:16the I mean after my parents, I mean everybody was getting attention just I
- 14:20mean the school finally caught on and be like, you can't just get an
- 14:22attention. You're like, no, that's not the rule. Yes we can.
- 14:26It's like the most most jacked up version of the Breakfast Club. There's
- 14:31like seventy five children in detention. Everybody got it. That's a good hack,
- 14:39though, man, because that's what all the parents got together and said,
- 14:41hey, you know what you can do. Just tell your kid get
- 14:43detention, parents, get attention today or something. My parents can just get
- 14:48attention today. Yeah, I'll see what I can do. Yeah. See,
- 14:54I truly feel like that. That's how I know you and I grew
- 14:56up in slightly different circumstances tone because you were forced to get detention, whereas
- 15:03my school actually had the free after school care that my parents would do before
- 15:07picking me up on their way home from work. Because if I ever got
- 15:09detention, oh my god, I'd be dead. My mother would have killed
- 15:13me. I would this point out at a private school that like no whoever
- 15:18was doing like that free after care or was doing aftercare nicol and Diamond.
- 15:22You're giving them twenty bucks for the day or whatever like that. That teacher
- 15:26that stayed after was making money like cash, and so our parents were like
- 15:33if they don't have basketball practice or because it was like it was like they
- 15:37used to even do that thing where in between, like school would be over
- 15:39three fifteen, three thirty, and then basketball practice wouldn't start till five,
- 15:46so you got to go somewhere for an hour and a half and they make
- 15:50you go, well, you can't just wander around the school, so you
- 15:52got to go here, so so cost you twenty bucks. And then if
- 15:56you don't have a car yet, you can't just leave and then come back.
- 15:58So it's like the tension that's free. But now I gotta lead attention
- 16:04because I got basketball practice. So you only spend like forty five minutes of
- 16:07detention, Like it was great, great, Yeah, I don't. I
- 16:15don't think Trey and I his households we were approving of the detention. I
- 16:18mean, hell, you're talking like Trey got a cut in his knee and
- 16:21his dad's putting you know, the the han on it yeah, like that's
- 16:26one that the cut what is it tray? What was it called the silt?
- 16:30Isn't that the stuff that they used on cattle? Like, I'm pretty
- 16:33sure my grandfather used that on heifer's. Probably it's I mean, a lot
- 16:37of stuff got used on heifer's in the last you know, sixty eighty years.
- 16:41We don't treat them like that anymore though. They also they also get
- 16:45hugs. Yeah, and that's how we get Kobe beef. You want to
- 16:52talking about, you know this stuff. My parents didn't care if they if
- 16:55there was going to be a gap between school getting out and they get they're
- 16:59getting home, ride your bike, Yeah, muscles too far from that,
- 17:04but yeah, I mean there was a lot of kids that got that chance
- 17:07and that and that's that right. There is an interesting switch, like the
- 17:11overcorrection from one generation to the next. Kids today are not allowed to wander
- 17:17or roam anywhere. When we were, you know, of a certain age,
- 17:21we weren't allowed to wander the school. Instead, the principal would tell
- 17:25you go wander around the neighborhood and that was okay. Yeah, And the
- 17:30other place you weren't gonna wander around was your own house. Because your mom
- 17:33would kick your ass out. So I mean, like comparison, today,
- 17:37if you see a child wandering the neighborhood, CPS gets called. Well,
- 17:41I mean like even if I saw if I saw a I mean, I'd
- 17:44be more worried about. Man, what's I hope there's not a new trend
- 17:49that'll know about. So somebody's gonna try to break my ship for TikTok,
- 17:53Like I hope somebody doesn't try to spray my mailbox or take my mail challenge
- 18:00or you know some sort of dig up dig up is succulent challenge. Yeah,
- 18:10our challenges were just surviving. It's everyday survival, hot slides, rusty
- 18:17nails on a playground, being being beaten by your teachers and your parents all
- 18:22in the same day. But also the other thing, not getting caught.
- 18:29That was our goal. Well that's gone. They record it like I have,
- 18:37Like I work with a lot of twenty somethings in the bar business and
- 18:41everything else, and I'm always and I have had to talk to so many
- 18:44of them about the principle of fly below the radar. When you're in trouble,
- 18:51what you want to do is just come in, keep your head down,
- 18:55do your job, go home, don't cause any problem, fly below
- 18:57the radar, don't get seen. They don't understand that everybody's like they have
- 19:03a like some pedestal to stand going to go. This is like pride and
- 19:11justification of my actions. So you go. You better get fired. And
- 19:17the only people don't care is he's you better get fired, and people that
- 19:21you don't know are gonna uh, that's bullshit. On TikTok. You still
- 19:25have to find another job. Yeah, yeah, yeah, because all those
- 19:29unless unless somehow whatever happened to you so egregious that someone you know fires up
- 19:33a GoFundMe for you or something, and you can make a bunch of money
- 19:37off of it. At the end of the day, you're right, you're
- 19:40gonna have to go out and get a new job. It doesn't matter how
- 19:41many followers you pick up on TikTok or how many likes you get on your
- 19:45post saying that you've been so wronged. I mean that, Look, man,
- 19:48that trend's gonna last for four days. You'll be finding then by next
- 19:53month, rent still dom Yeah, t XU still wants their money, even
- 19:57though they're not necessarily any good at it. They I don't want their cash.
- 20:00Oh but I'm not mad they don't have ring because they still living with
- 20:03their parents. Because they parents allow this. This is and this is this
- 20:11is another overcorrection from generation to generation. So like everything we're talking about is
- 20:15part like part of the reason I don't have kids is I don't think I'd
- 20:19be able to handle it. Like we were out yesterday, just getting some
- 20:22dinner to go. We're sitting at the bar waiting on her to go food
- 20:26and this kid, I don't know, three years old, just starts shrieking,
- 20:33just shrieking for attention, throwing a little tantrum, and he's just doing
- 20:36it for the attention, because it's not like he's hurt himself or anything.
- 20:40He's screaming in mom's face. And the guy at the bar had a beautiful
- 20:45idea on how to deal with this tantruming child, and that was a stand
- 20:49up at the bar, point at the child behind him and say get this
- 20:52kid to Jamison. And that kid stopped and just went huh away from Yeah,
- 21:00yeah, all the attention away. And Mom was so either embarrassed or
- 21:06afraid that the bar might actually give her a kid a shot of Irish whiskey,
- 21:08grabbed the kid, took him out in the parking lot to calm him
- 21:11down. Oh my god, that's great, but that's all you know,
- 21:15like you know that that comes from like not so so we have a I
- 21:19mean, they'll never see this, but the our neighbor down the street has
- 21:25a single mom daughter who's three. In their neighborhood, they have a her
- 21:30best friend's a little three year old and her mom and dad. So they're
- 21:34all friends. Like they played they together, two little girls with two little
- 21:37three year olds, and one is Asian, the other one is white Asian
- 21:44baby, so well behaved. It's like it's what you expect from Asian baby.
- 21:48Okay, this little blond hair, white girl. Let me tell you
- 21:52something. Now this has nothing to do with right, but this is also
- 21:55just like so we can separate the two just so you know, the two
- 21:57different kids. Man, you could tell the parents are like, if she
- 22:03wasn't mine, we'd give her up. Like they go, she a lot,
- 22:10she is a lot. I mean but like there you go, oh,
- 22:11I probably wouldn't want to take her to restaurants. No, that's like
- 22:15that's like that's one of those kids where you get I mean we all grew
- 22:18up seeing like the kids who just flipped, I mean flip the hell out
- 22:19anywhere. But then oh man, that that is scary where you go.
- 22:23If they can't keep this in check at home, I definitely can't keep it
- 22:26in check out. Yeah, And that's what Oh yeah, absolutely, And
- 22:32that was one of the things I worried about because babysitter's I mean, that's
- 22:34oh yeah, I hard to keep anything. I mean, I immediately put
- 22:37myself in that in that mom's shoes with a shrieking child, and I in
- 22:42the moment just putting myself in her shoes. Ever so briefly, I was
- 22:48worried for the safety of that child because I think I'd still be beating him
- 22:51in the parking lot. Yeah, it's like but also it's like, I
- 22:53mean, hopefully we're getting back to that point where other parents go like,
- 22:57I got you, I'll block you, like let me, let me help,
- 23:00let me, I'll let you know if anybody coming beat that kid's ass.
- 23:04Basically, everyone's set up. Everyone set up a parent wall, like
- 23:08like the bikers would do it at Westboro for a funeral with Westboro would be
- 23:14there, they just create a wall absolutely like to beat your kid. Wall
- 23:21went in the solidary to be like but we all agree with you, bro,
- 23:25and occasionally took your foot out to kick him if he's trying to sneak
- 23:29between the legs. Look like the Soul trained dance line, you know.
- 23:34Yeah, the uh And then and then Trey's dad, you know, pops
- 23:38up out of nowhere with some matthiah late to rub on the kid afterwards to
- 23:42treat all the wounds. Hey, you shouldn't have runch because you were trying
- 23:45to run. You should have just taken it. But Tony, you've you've
- 23:49met my mom. Yeah, I think you said that exact same thing to
- 23:55me as a child. One of the things you don't see anymore, talking
- 23:57about all like especially restaurants in public, you don't see parents just whipped,
- 24:03you know, grab their kids and just whip them out to the parking lot
- 24:06like my dad would grab me by the neck and drag my ass out if
- 24:10I did anything. No, you're right, that is a huge thing missing
- 24:14from today's children. The public beatings are all gone, Yeah, because there's
- 24:18no such thing as embarrassment, like it's I don't want to look like this.
- 24:22And then also to me, like you said earlier. Tray. Everybody
- 24:25got a everybody got a phone, so everybody's snitching on you. My mom
- 24:29used to grab it you either by the ear by, like that little piece
- 24:30of meat right here. If I was just acting up in a store and
- 24:33just above the y elbow right here, it just I mean, just gripple
- 24:37you and be like and that was just a warning till we get to the
- 24:40car. That was I think, I think we've got the solution. Now.
- 24:44We just need parents to band together, link arms and the just formed
- 24:48the beating wall. If we all agree it's not abuse, Like that's the
- 24:51thing. We all have to agree that this is not abuse. It's character
- 24:56building. It's like it's like those like those already eight to fifty six year
- 25:02olds that kind of really because the sixty plus they beat, they whooped ass.
- 25:07Yeah, with that small segment and you know, like that kind of
- 25:11eight year gap that goes like should we and all of us kind of around.
- 25:15I go like, I mean, I think, I mean, there's
- 25:18a couple that got out of hand, but for the most of them,
- 25:19I needed them. A couple a couple were a little you know extreme.
- 25:25Yeah, you know, we got we were going I don't know. We
- 25:29got the red, but we were orange. Yeah, no, some were
- 25:32red, some were red, and those of us that had had the occasional
- 25:37red scare of have overcorrected. And that's where maybe too. But you're right.
- 25:42I think if we can live somewhere in the orange for the most across
- 25:47the line to see where it is, you go, okay, yeah,
- 25:48yeah, they shouldn't pass out afterwards, like there we go. Just make
- 25:52sure they still you know, are you talking about the beat or or beat?
- 25:57I think both because my dad worked well big tones. Try it needs
- 26:04to be both. You shouldn't be tired. Neither one of us should be
- 26:10exhausted. Really afterwards, yeah yeah, if there's an official calling for halftime,

- 29:42to mention it in that first segment, but I need to because it's so
- 29:45important that today is Freddy see I feel better? Do you feel better now?
- 29:52Because I know I do feel better. Yeah, because if I didn't
- 29:53say it, some people are just gonna feel off. It felt like there
- 30:00was something missing, and I'm sure that was it also Raj, but mainly
- 30:06just you know, singing out Friday in a stupid fashion. That's that's certainly
- 30:11needed every single Friday, especially after some of the dark and gloomy and terrible
- 30:15news of the week that we had you know, with the shipping container ramming
- 30:22the bridge in Baltimore. And because of that, I now know way more
- 30:26about the shipping industry on the East Coast than I ever thought I would or
- 30:30needed to. Yeah, shipping industry. And that video, damn just it
- 30:38really looks like a It made that bridge look like just a bunch of shiny
- 30:48toothpicks just coming down. Yeah. Yeah, it was like a lego set
- 30:52or something that you just crashed through. And yeah, that was just just
- 31:00tragic. And I think it'll be fascinating to see, you know, when
- 31:04they figure it out. You know, did the ship lose power? Yeah?
- 31:08What what happened? Because and that wouldn't even you know, when I
- 31:12first heard about it, I thought, Okay, you know, a ship
- 31:15clipped the bridge, they had it stack too high, something like that.
- 31:19Not no, huhm, dead on into one of the pillars, just taking
- 31:23the damn thing out. Yeah, And and this is how much that nine
- 31:29to eleven still affects us, at least it does. It does to me,
- 31:33and I think it does to you as well. Tray. That is
- 31:36when this type of thing happens, one of the first thoughts we have and
- 31:40is one of the first questions that reporters ask of authorities when they do a
- 31:45press conference is do you suspect terrorism? It's a question now that wasn't asked
- 31:49Green nine to eleven typically, but it is now. It's part of the
- 31:53every you know, every major occurrence like this. Used to be it was
- 31:59clearly an accident, or we assume it is. But now that my first
- 32:02thought is was a terrorist? You know, it's funny. I didn't normally,
- 32:08Yes, that is one of my first thoughts is was it terrorism?
- 32:12This one? I I didn't really think about it, Uh, just because
- 32:17it wouldn't have I guess I didn't think terrorism because it didn't have the big
- 32:22splash that I think a terrorist attack wants. Now, that is a really
- 32:25poor pun. You're right, that really was a bad pun. Wow.
- 32:30Uh yeah, Somewhere somewhere Fox Fores Steve Noviella, who loves a good pun
- 32:37and uses them on TV a lot, is rolling his eyes going ooh,
- 32:40oh that's not a good That's that's poor timing, mister tru Yeah, that's
- 32:44a that was not a good one. Anyways. But I just don't think
- 32:50terrorism because yes, the economic impact of this is huge and and will be
- 32:57and will be for months to come. I mean I think they said that
- 33:00port eight hundred basically eight hundred and fifty thousand new cars come through there.
- 33:04M and you know, millions and millions of dollars of losses will be daily.
- 33:13Yeah. And somewhere you know that there is a Karen bitching at a
- 33:16car dealership wondering where her new Buick is, not realizing that it's there.
- 33:22Yeah, but yeah, that'll be au. It will be interesting to see
- 33:30what the what the outcome is. It'd also be very interesting to see if
- 33:34it was the ship's fault of how we go about I mean, that's going
- 33:39to bankrupt an insurance company because you have to go after them and try to
- 33:45get recoup some of I'm assuming a bridge costs one hundred million dollars something like
- 33:52that. I mean it's a lot of money. Yeah, I have no
- 33:57idea. I don't know what that bridge had originally cost when it was built
- 34:00and what it would cost to replace it today. And going back to the
- 34:05terrorism thing, really briefly, the reason why I thought that was when I
- 34:07first saw the video is because the ship goes right at that that support pillar.
- 34:13Yeah, and knowing that that is a shipping lane. It's those ships
- 34:20are supposed to go back and forth with no problem, so if one happens
- 34:23to hit the bridge right at the support pillar, it seems suspicious. Once
- 34:28I started reading more about it, though, it has all the indications of
- 34:30some type of power failure on board, because they said lights were flickering before
- 34:37it veered off course. But that left me wondering, is there not a
- 34:42manual setting on these fucking things? Well, and maybe that's what saved me
- 34:45from it is the first time I saw the video, which it was probably
- 34:52it was like, you know, I would say, eight hours after it
- 34:53had happened. And so when I finally saw the video, it was with
- 35:00someone talking about how they showed the ship losing like all the lights went off
- 35:04right before it happened, and they, you know, they were talking about
- 35:07it's probably an indication that ship lost power, and that's you know it.
- 35:12So I don't know it really is. That is a just a it's a
- 35:15horrible thing. It is a terrible thing. They I did see that they've
- 35:20recovered the black box, so we're going to find out everything that happened.
- 35:23But in the meantime, it is ah another example of our world has changed,
- 35:34you know, and then that when something bad like this happens. One
- 35:36of the first thoughts I have is was was that al Qaeda? And in
- 35:42this case, if it wasn't al Qaeda, somewhere is hiding in a cave,
- 35:45going it was a good idea, I guess we'd have thought of it.
- 35:51It's still it. I don't know about you. It actually still amazes
- 35:54me that we have gone twenty three years without having another terrorist attack. I'm
- 36:00with you, I'm stunned by that because I the thing I've always thought that
- 36:07someone would do, and just because it would cripple our country, like you
- 36:12know, if they decided to do you know, a suicide bomber at a
- 36:14mall. Yeah, you would cripple the economy because all of a sudden,
- 36:19you know, people are afraid to go to it go out. Now.
- 36:22Would it be as bad as it would have been fifteen years ago? No,
- 36:24because you can buy everything online now. But well, and the weird
- 36:28thing is not to completely go off on this, but I think you know,
- 36:30we're feeling it, So let's go with it. Anyone from another country
- 36:36or whatever terrorist organization that wants to do America harm it doesn't really have to
- 36:44do anything because we're doing it to ourselves. Yeah, movie theaters, malls,
- 36:50car dealerships, everywhere you go. I mean, we're shooting each other
- 36:53all the time. Terrorists don't have room, they don't have room to do
- 37:00is any harm because we're doing it all to ourselves. We can't we can't
- 37:02even agree on who we think should be our leaders, let alone uh,
- 37:07you know, coming together in a in a post terrorist you know, action
- 37:14and then and it's so sad. We can't even like we we are,
- 37:19so we can't even let two successful kids have a relationship without questioning whether you
- 37:24know it's an NFL conspiracy and this and that. I mean, it's yeah,
- 37:30we're we're we're fucked. I'm gonna stick that in our new trailer.
- 37:36That's I mean, but there is something go ahead and try. No,
- 37:44it's we have so many problems and it really is what he's I don't know
- 37:46why. It just hit me, But then you step back and look at
- 37:49the absurdity of what we focus on. It is absolutely we deserve it.
- 37:52We deserve everything we get. And that's also part of the reason why I
- 37:58don't even even though it's your response of me as a quote unquote news director.
- 38:02Don't. I don't pay attention to a whole lot of hardcore news anymore
- 38:06because it's so troubling. Instead, I get fed on Instagram things like how
- 38:10to clean a stain out of a cutting board or Chihuahua videos Thanks to You
- 38:15and my dog Bella, which, by the way, if you want a
- 38:19good Jiuahua account to follow, little Chee Chee's Little Chee Chee. I gotta
- 38:23sell you this. There's this one dog account I've got to I'll send you.
- 38:28It's this dog and they dress him up and just all sorts of outfits
- 38:32and I couldn't even tell you what kind of dog it is, but it's
- 38:35just got the big orange poofy. It almost looks like a doggy afro,
- 38:38and he's got sunglasses and god, it's great. And he always leaning up
- 38:43against the wall like yeah, it's like a seventies porn vid. They're so
- 38:46good. I feel better, Thank you, Trey. You're welcome. I
- 38:52haven't even seen it yet, and I feel better. This is awesome.
- 38:57And there is something else that will also make us feel better, and that's
- 38:59birthday, but not yet. Oh you're in the Treehouse. Visit us online
- 39:13at treehouseonair dot com. Let's get Jacqueline into the treehouse now from Brooks Plumbing
- 39:27for any and all of your plumbing wants and needs. Give her a call
- 39:30to one four three six eight thirty eight thirty eight the website Brooks Plumbingtexas dot
- 39:35com. Jacqueline, I've used your services a few times, and I've noticed
- 39:38that your pricing is extremely competitive, and I wonder does that scare some people
- 39:45about how affordable your services can be. I've had a handful of people use
- 39:51the adjective scary. I think smart homeowners want to get quotes for bigger jobs.
- 39:57And I'm gonna, of course divert back to slab leaks, a leak
- 40:00below the foundation. It's the most expensive thing you can run into as a
- 40:04homeowner. And those homeowners that get multiple bids are always saying you were thousands,
- 40:13multiple thousands of dollars less expensive than everybody else. And I've had a
- 40:16handful of them say and that's scary to me because we can't understand why two
- 40:21out of three are within a couple hundred dollars ballpark of each other, but
- 40:25you are not. And there's a simple and easy way to explain this,
- 40:30and it's the simple fact that my guys don't work off of commission. Those
- 40:34commission guys benefit by selling you more, and so they're gonna the prices are
- 40:38higher because that's how those companies pay their technicians. The other downfall for those
- 40:44guys is that those big companies can't tend to maintain in house excavation crews,
- 40:49and we do. We have multiple, so we're not subcontracting that work to
- 40:52anyone else, so we're not having to mark it up to remain profitable.
- 40:57You're only working with one contractor. When you're working with us, I'm capable
- 41:00of beating anybody that you're gonna see advertising for. And it's because we've kind
- 41:06of figured out the secret. We don't have a lot of overhead. We
- 41:08don't have a huge office. We have just enough office space. We don't
- 41:13advertise on billboards. We stick to the treehouse and swing around like monkeys inside
- 41:17of it. So you just have to market and keep your expenses low so
- 41:21you're not passing your cost off to anyone else. Doing business the smart way,
- 41:25the right way, taking care of the customers first and being smart about
- 41:30everything else in between. That's why we use Brooks Plumbing inside the treehouse,
- 41:34including when we're swinging around from the pipes and we bust one. We call
- 41:37Jaqueline two one four three six eight thirty eight thirty eight. The website Brooks
- 41:40Plumbingtexas dot com. The Treehouse visit us online a treehouseonair dot com. This
- 41:54segment of the Treehouse is to you buy Brooks Plumbing for any and all of
- 41:59your plumbing. One to needs, give Jacqueline a call to one four three
- 42:02six eight thirty eight thirty eight. That's two one four three six eight thirty
- 42:06eight thirty eight. And the website of course, Brooks Plumbingtexas dot com.
- 42:12All right, Trey, what did you send me? Oh? I send
- 42:15you a send you a reel of the dog in the seventies outfits. Oh
- 42:22my god, irning to see here. It's one of my new favorite accounts,
- 42:32dogs of Instagram wearing throwback like disco and this is this is a specific
- 42:37dog at It's funny because his name the account is Agador. It's oh my
- 42:44god, this this this looks like a fluffy e walk wearing Aviator sunglasses.
- 42:52But it's just all of the videos are this just him and different out these
- 42:58outfits and it's priceless. So this one sees it's this, what kind of
- 43:04dog is this? It's a fluffy ewok looking dog. I don't know.
- 43:07All right, well, it's a fluffy e walk looking dog. I'm pretty
- 43:10sure that's the official AKC registration. So if you want to, you know,
- 43:15get in on the dog show circuit. He's wearing what looks to be
- 43:19like a hipster man bag or purse, a herringbone button up shirt jacket,
- 43:28thing with a sweater pant and the Aviator's sunglasses. But I mean, the
- 43:36whole the whole account is nothing but this dog in different outfits. I mean,
- 43:44oh, with a Justin Bieber song. I don't know it by the
- 43:47sound. I know it just because it's labeled up there. Yeah sure,
- 43:52shut up. Oh my god, six four thousand followers for Poocha of NYC
- 44:01Ye, oh god, yes see. We're we're we're we're doing social media
- 44:06wrong, Trey, We're we're over here trying to do long form podcast content
- 44:09when dogs wearing clothes have over half a million followers. Although this one,
- 44:15my god swam so this is the same dog wearing aviator eyeglasses. Not sunglasses
- 44:29but just eyeglasses or they're see through. And he's got a bunch of roses
- 44:31in his mouth. As the bedroom door opens, and it's Lionel Richie playing
- 44:38and I think he's in a robe. He's in a row with golden mate
- 44:44pants. Clearly an outfit that tone Bell should be copying any day now.
- 44:49I'll send this to him, and he's he's doing some seducing here. I
- 44:55have to watch the rest of this. Here we go. And he's also
- 45:07got a huge gold chain around his neck. But they also so many times
- 45:13they pose him where he's like leaning against the doorway, but he's got one
- 45:19paw up high above his head like he's leaning you know that way. It's
- 45:27it's a masterpiece of an account, it is. And the sad thing is
- 45:32is I've tried doing that same seduction technique and it just it just falls,
- 45:37It just falls fat. I can't pull it off. Did you have the
- 45:40gold chain? Yeah, it turns out it's the it's the fluffy hairiness that
- 45:46is. That is what I'm lacking. That's what's catching you. Yeah,
- 45:52that's that's the thing that gets catch it. Yeah, tripped me right up,
- 45:55all right. As I mentioned earlier. Today is fred Y Mark twenty
- 46:00ninth, twenty twenty four birthdays today. This will be a short one We've
- 46:06got celebrating her fifty sixth birthday today. Zena also known by her real name
- 46:14Lucy Lawless, which is still a really cool name. She is fifty six
- 46:17today. Lucy Lawless turns fifty six. Best known for her roles as Zena
- 46:22Warrior princess, She was also one of the pylon models on Battlestar Galactica.
- 46:27She was Lucretia on the Stars television show Spartacus. Did you ever see that
- 46:31series Tray Spartacus on Stars? Wow? Man, there are not many television
- 46:39shows, and this show is not even recent. I mean this is that's
- 46:43probably fifteen years ago at this point. You talk about television shows that really
- 46:46need I don't care if it's on cable or like pay cable subscription whatever,
- 46:52needing a parental advisory, that's one of them. I mean everyone's naked and
- 46:54everyone's screwing, and it's it's basically a soft core when they do it,
- 47:00and it's violent as well, So I mean it's all the good stuff you
- 47:04want, which is you know, hardcore, you know, sex and violence,
- 47:07like like The Boys. Like The Boys is a show that I don't
- 47:13care how many warnings they put it at the beginning, you still sometimes like
- 47:16some of the scenes you weren't prepared for. Yeah, that's on a different
- 47:21level, because The Boys is meant to shock in awe and and be outrageous,
- 47:25whereas Spartacus was more of like within the within the realm of the story.
- 47:30You know, it's like because it's you know, it's old Roman days,
- 47:32so it's you know, it's it's orgies and things. It's it's gladiators
- 47:37having sex with women and because there they were, you know, to be
- 47:42had as you know, prizes by the aristocracy type of stuff. And so
- 47:46yeah, so lots of nudity, lots of sex, and that was accurate
- 47:50to the time. The Boys is just on a completely different level. I
- 47:52mean, I mean, when you got a tiny little man crawling inside his
- 47:55boyfriend Urethra and then sneezing, therefore destroying the top half of his boyfriend,
- 48:02it's really hard to forget that. Yeah, and I have it clearly.
- 48:13You know. The worst thing about that scene in the Boy's Tray is the
- 48:15first time I saw it, I didn't realize he went in the front.
- 48:17I thought he went in the back. Yeah, I don't know that.
- 48:25I think that's that much worse. But yeah, okay, that's still bad.
- 48:29I mean, that's like like that. Either way. When I saw
- 48:31the episode the first time and thought he went in the backside, I was
- 48:36like, Oh my god, this is shocking. This is the most shocking
- 48:38thing my eyes have ever seen in person or on television. And then I
- 48:45was informed that no, no, no, he went in the front side,
- 48:50and then I relived it all again, and so then I had to
- 48:52go back and rewatch that scene. And that's when I realized, oh,
- 48:55I can see it now. Yeah, that's that's clearly that that's clearly the
- 48:59the that's clearly the p hole. I mean, but then it made that
- 49:02scene even worse. Yeah, about that show should really shock, being that
- 49:08the opening scene of the entire series is a guy holding hands with a girl
- 49:13and the next thing you know, he's just holding her hand. It is.
- 49:19They set the tone really well at the beginning of the Boys, and
- 49:22then you realize, as other things happen, other things transpire, him holding
- 49:31her hands is actually pretty tame by comparison. Yeah, but other birthdays today,
- 49:38So Lucy law is happy birthday fifty six today, also celebrating a birthday
- 49:43today. Former Australian supermodels. She's still Australian, I'm sure, El McPherson.
- 49:47She is sixty today. Christopher Lambert turned sixty seven. One of the
- 49:55great Hollywood stretches that has ever been And this is one of those things I
- 50:00wish I would have thought about to ask tone if remember I'll remember this from
- 50:06when we have him on again, and help me remember Trey is. Christopher
- 50:10Lambert, a French actor, got the starring role in Highlander as a Scotsman
- 50:19with I don't even think he even bothered to try a Scottish accent. Meanwhile,
- 50:23the same film had Sean Connery, an actual Scotsman, playing a Spaniard,
- 50:29and he also didn't make any sort of an attempt to go with a
- 50:31Spanish accent. He just basically was Scottish with a Spanish goateee, but also
- 50:38had a Samurai sword. It's one of the all time great movies, but
- 50:42it's also one of the all time great hunt when you think about Hollywood casting,
- 50:47I have never ever ever put Highlander and given him that much thought.
- 50:55But what you're telling me it's like kind of like Scarface and no way,
- 51:00this is way worse. I mean really, I'll give it to you again.
- 51:07Yeah. The lead in the film is a Scottish Highlander played by a
- 51:13French actor whose mentor is supposed to be Spanish played by a Scottish actor.
- 51:19Okay, yeah, all right, you're right that it's worse. I mean,
- 51:22now I gotta go back and watch that movie. Yeah you do.
- 51:24I mean you really talk about the height of Hollywood stupidity. That's a good
- 51:28one. And uh, Trey, as you are a Star Trek the Next
- 51:34Generation fan, I would be remiss if I did not mention a hearty happy
- 51:37birthday to Marina Sertis. She is a very sexy sixty nine today. She
- 51:43of course plays Deanna Troy and Star Trek the Next Generation. I didn't realize
- 51:49she was that. I mean, so they just finished Picard last year.
- 51:54She didn't look I would never have guessed her to be that old. I
- 51:59didn't watch the card series, but some promotional things I saw that I saw
- 52:04of her, I was like, my god, she is. She's one
- 52:07of those types that has held up very well and she must be very happy.
- 52:10Yeah, I guess I shouldn't be surprised because Brent Spiner is like seventy
- 52:16m I mean that show was and it's Heyday thirty. God, damn it
- 52:22thirty five years ago. Fuck that sucks. Done it? Really? It's
- 52:25it's I don't know if it's it's the the fact that fifty is just staring
- 52:31me, you know, straight in the face, just a crooked finger,
- 52:37just hooking me, going come on, you can't avoid it. Come on.
- 52:43It's like my dad with belt, come on. So so it's not
- 52:47quite the Grim Reaper. It's just the over the Hill man. Is is
- 52:52fish hooking you? Yeah, he's got a belt in matthiolate. I wonder
- 53:00if that's why all the old men in the locker room have those rust stains
- 53:04between their legs. It's just methiolate just slowly just got all over. Oh
- 53:15that's a god, it's funny. I actually looked for it at CBS it's
- 53:21probably been a year ago, just to see if they still made it,
- 53:22and I couldn't find it. You know, it's very troubling to think about.
- 53:28And I didn't realize it until I just started to type it into Google
- 53:30to get a little more information on methiolate that your dad used on you as
- 53:36an antibacterial whenever you'd scrape your knee. You know what, you know what
- 53:42the root word is in methiolate, meth Yeah, absolutely, I mean that
- 53:51should tell you everything you need to know about growing up as an X.
- 53:54Okay, no, no, oh no, So I just googled mythiolate.
- 54:00This is even worse, worse than you thought. Yeah, it's a pharmaceutical
- 54:06compound that is forty nine point five percent mercury. That explains a lot of
- 54:13my fucked upness. I'd say, so that's the wrong button. It works.
- 54:30It's a half mercury, I am not. That's what your dad rubbed
- 54:37on you for for open wounds, Yes, and open wounds. And it
- 54:44was sold over the counter, Yeah it was. Oh but now it's mercury
- 54:52free. Pussy's. Oh this is you need to get the good stuff.
- 55:00This is kind of like what the bottle used to look like, just this
- 55:07orange. Oh yeah, yep, I remember that, except the stuff that
- 55:14I think. I think my grandfather actually had that in his bathroom. Except
- 55:17it was such an old bottle that I assumed never went bad, probably because
- 55:22I would it. It was such an old bottle. The label was rubbed
- 55:27off, so it was just like patches of labels. You couldn't tell what
- 55:30it was. You knew what it was, but you didn't know what it
- 55:32was called. Right, And now we know it's because the mercury was eating
- 55:36through the label. But let's rub it on open wounds. Don't ingest it.
- 55:46But you know, open wounds just fine. All of a sudden,
- 55:52I'm starting to understand the anti vaccinine group. You could survive the thila.
- 56:02What's a little covid? Yeah, means a little spell bringing back polio.
- 56:13All right. Thanks to Tone Bell for hanging out with us in the treehouse,
- 56:15and of course thanks to you for hanging out with us in the treehouse
