- 0:22Sit back, relax, enjoy the show.
- 0:30What's going on, everybody?
- 0:32Welcome to the Clydesdale
- 0:34Media Weight Loss Journey.
- 0:36So I don't know if you know this,
- 0:39but Twitter now,
- 0:41for us to go live on Twitter or X,
- 0:44you have to pay a subscription fee.
- 0:47So I had it set up where it
- 0:49was doing that for a while.
- 0:50And all the shows that I had
- 0:51set up prior to this notice,
- 0:53now I get this big error
- 0:55message whenever we launch.
- 0:57And I have to remove us from
- 0:59Twitter before we actually
- 1:01can start talking.
- 1:02So there's a little scramble
- 1:03mode behind the scenes there.
- 1:05I don't even use Twitter.
- 1:07I never got into it.
- 1:08I don't know.
- 1:11I'm kind of... I'll never
- 1:14remember to call it X. But I...
- 1:18I use it during football
- 1:19season because it is the
- 1:22fastest way to get news about your team.
- 1:24Yeah.
- 1:26Yeah.
- 1:26It's funny.
- 1:27What's up, Corey?
- 1:29I, uh,
- 1:29I actually hopped on the EMOM train.
- 1:33I've actually, I know this is,
- 1:35I know we're doing your Clydesdale media,
- 1:37but I gotta tell you, um, I hopped on,
- 1:40I did a deal a week and I
- 1:41knew I was looking for,
- 1:42I know this is Scott's journey,
- 1:44but you know,
- 1:44coach Cheryl here needs a
- 1:45little love too.
- 1:47Um,
- 1:47I had just been off of following a
- 1:49program for a long time.
- 1:50I had just been back and
- 1:51forth and between injuries
- 1:54and just not feeling good
- 1:55and kind of being in my own pity party.
- 1:58had just been doing kind of
- 1:59like bits and pieces of
- 2:00things and doing my own programming.
- 2:02And I just had actually one
- 2:05of my clients who, you know,
- 2:06she's a semi-final athlete.
- 2:09I was like,
- 2:11you should check out this program.
- 2:12And I was kind of like, oh,
- 2:14maybe I'll check it out, you know,
- 2:15and I had a free trial.
- 2:16So I was like, well,
- 2:18what's the worst that could happen?
- 2:19You get fitter.
- 2:20And
- 2:20I started following it.
- 2:21So it's been nice to have some people.
- 2:24When I saw Corey on there, I was like, yes,
- 2:26I love it.
- 2:28So yeah, it's been,
- 2:29it's been good to slowly
- 2:30get back into the grind of
- 2:31things and very humbling.
- 2:34I'm happy that I've been
- 2:35able to do a lot of the workouts,
- 2:37but damn, some days I'm like,
- 2:39I can't believe how unfit I got myself.
- 2:41So, but it's been, it's been fun for sure.
- 2:45Getting back into it.
- 2:47Cheryl is effing killing it.
- 2:49Well, thanks, Corey.
- 2:51Yesterday, I think it was killing me.
- 2:54When you have an EMOM with
- 2:5610 squat cleans at 95, 135,
- 3:00sandwiched in between other things,
- 3:02and you're on an EMOM,
- 3:05singles aren't really fun
- 3:07because then you don't get any rest.
- 3:08And holding onto the barbell
- 3:09isn't any fun either.
- 3:11But yeah, it's been fun stuff for sure.
- 3:14So anywho, that's my little update.
- 3:17You said this is my journey,
- 3:19but this is one of the
- 3:19reasons we're doing this show.
- 3:21It's been a couple of weeks
- 3:22since we've been on.
- 3:23You've had so much going on in your life.
- 3:26I've had so much going on in my life.
- 3:29It's just complete chaos.
- 3:31And we're going to talk
- 3:31about that in a minute.
- 3:33Yeah.
- 3:33One of the things that you and I,
- 3:35we met last week and had a
- 3:36very long heart to heart
- 3:39and talked about a lot of things.
- 3:42And we made the decision
- 3:44that we want to revamp the show.
- 3:46Yeah.
- 3:48Um, and we want it,
- 3:50we want it to be more than
- 3:51just about me or you,
- 3:53but we want it to be about the community.
- 3:56And so we want to like come
- 3:57up with different ways to
- 3:58be more interactive,
- 4:00like maybe have a weekly
- 4:02workout challenge where
- 4:03everybody can share video
- 4:05from their workouts or have
- 4:08people on from the chat on
- 4:10the show to talk about their journey.
- 4:13Um,
- 4:14And it doesn't mean we're
- 4:15going to get away from like
- 4:16updating you on how I'm
- 4:17doing and things like that.
- 4:19But we don't want that to be
- 4:20the sole focus anymore.
- 4:21We want it to be a community
- 4:24program that involves everybody.
- 4:30And so we have made the
- 4:32decision that after today's show,
- 4:33we're going to take a
- 4:34couple of weeks off till
- 4:35after the CrossFit games.
- 4:37And then we're going to come back,
- 4:38rebranded new name, same people,
- 4:42but hopefully like more
- 4:44community involvement.
- 4:45Yeah.
- 4:46And I kind of like want to add onto this.
- 4:47Cause even as I was saying that deflection,
- 4:50right.
- 4:50Of,
- 4:51I didn't want to talk about me because
- 4:52it's a Scott's journey story.
- 4:54I don't want that anymore
- 4:55because guess what?
- 4:57I struggle too.
- 4:58And I,
- 4:59I'm sure that a lot of you
- 5:00guys can relate to feeling
- 5:02if you've been doing
- 5:03CrossFit for a long time, Scott,
- 5:04I know you have.
- 5:05In fact,
- 5:05I heard you talk about how you're
- 5:07no longer the 2016 Scott.
- 5:09We all experience things in
- 5:11our own journeys that can make
- 5:14staying consistent and
- 5:15staying happy about the
- 5:16process feel like such a struggle.
- 5:19And I think that what I want
- 5:22you guys to get from
- 5:23Scott's story from day one,
- 5:25and what I want to be able
- 5:26to help you guys with here
- 5:28is helping to remind you
- 5:30guys that you're not alone
- 5:31and also being able to
- 5:33relate to you guys.
- 5:34I mean, yeah,
- 5:36I've been doing CrossFit
- 5:37since 2010 and I still program hop.
- 5:40Like that's a bad habit, right?
- 5:41So I'm like, damn,
- 5:42I'm following a program again.
- 5:44You guys know how that feels.
- 5:46And I want to be able to
- 5:47offer you guys that as well.
- 5:49And I think that it'll be
- 5:51cool for us to maybe pop up
- 5:53some like Q and A's on the
- 5:54Clydesdale stories.
- 5:56And maybe every week we can
- 5:57answer some listener
- 5:58questions related to my
- 6:00thoughts are making this
- 6:02podcast really about
- 6:03helping you guys improve
- 6:04your own fitness journey.
- 6:06whether it's with CrossFit stuff,
- 6:08coaching stuff,
- 6:09whether it's with life stuff,
- 6:11whether it's with mostly nutrition stuff.
- 6:14So guys,
- 6:15one of my biggest things that I'm
- 6:16passionate about is
- 6:17teaching the CrossFit
- 6:18community how to fuel
- 6:20themselves appropriately to
- 6:23get leaner, get fitter, get healthier.
- 6:25Like that's really what I
- 6:26want for everybody.
- 6:27So this show has just been a
- 6:29great platform and Scott
- 6:30can be a great example for
- 6:31a lot of people out there
- 6:33who do struggle because I
- 6:36don't struggle with the
- 6:37same things that Scott struggles with.
- 6:39And his story is going to
- 6:40resonate with other people.
- 6:41So that's my input as well.
- 6:43The other thing we want to
- 6:44do is keep the fun part of the show.
- 6:48Even though it's going to
- 6:50have more of a plan and more of a focus,
- 6:53we still want to have those
- 6:54fun questions like,
- 6:56what's that fun food you like to have?
- 6:59Why does gum help you when you're dieting?
- 7:02What tricks do you use instead of gum?
- 7:05All those things we dive off to,
- 7:07and so we want to keep all
- 7:09that as part of the fun process.
- 7:11thing of the show and,
- 7:12and keep you guys involved as a community,
- 7:15sharing all of those fun
- 7:17and funny aspects of what you go through.
- 7:20Yeah.
- 7:21Because I mean,
- 7:22like some of the most fun episodes for me,
- 7:25I don't know if you can relate is when,
- 7:27when you guys are in the
- 7:27chat talking about things
- 7:29that are like completely
- 7:30off the wall and it like
- 7:32totally brings us off topic,
- 7:33but into something else and
- 7:35it can be super fun.
- 7:35So yeah.
- 7:37By the way, talking about nutrition,
- 7:39fitness-related crazy stuff,
- 7:41did you all see that
- 7:42Richard Simmons died?
- 7:43I did.
- 7:45That's a perfect example of
- 7:46a topic that we could talk about.
- 7:49I mean,
- 7:49that was my first introduction to
- 7:50fitness was watching my mom
- 7:52sweating to the oldies in
- 7:52the freaking VHS tape in the living room.
- 7:57My wife had disco sweat,
- 7:59had sweating to the oldies.
- 8:01She had all of them.
- 8:01Sweating to the oldies.
- 8:02That's what I remember my mom.
- 8:04It's just crazy, but a little tangent.
- 8:06So anyways,
- 8:08I love that we're talking about this.
- 8:10And if you guys have any,
- 8:13maybe some suggestions on
- 8:15what we could name this,
- 8:16I like using the Clydesdale
- 8:19and I just like it to just,
- 8:20Clydesdale weight loss
- 8:21journey just sounds good.
- 8:23Y'all got suggestions.
- 8:24You want to put some thoughts up.
- 8:25Maybe I'll send out some.
- 8:27It's not just a weight loss
- 8:28journey anymore.
- 8:28It's about fitness.
- 8:29It's about fun.
- 8:30It's about like,
- 8:32we want to incorporate all that into it.
- 8:34Yeah.
- 8:34Keep Clydesdale in there.
- 8:37But we want to add like what
- 8:40it's all about.
- 8:41I even want to talk about
- 8:42like the stuff that people
- 8:43don't talk about.
- 8:45Like the stuff that happens at the gym,
- 8:47right?
- 8:47Like the random person that
- 8:48like has so much chalk on
- 8:50their hands for burpees.
- 8:52I just want to make this
- 8:53podcast episode one that
- 8:56you guys that go to a
- 8:57CrossFit gym and you want
- 8:59to have some people to talk
- 9:00to about all the things you
- 9:01experience and your husband
- 9:03or your wife sit at the
- 9:04dinner table is like,
- 9:05care about your thrusters
- 9:08and then look at you like
- 9:09you have three heads you
- 9:10guys have a place to come
- 9:11on and chat about it so
- 9:13judy reed says r.i.p
- 9:15richard I was a big galad
- 9:16fan anyone remember him I
- 9:19remember him I i have to be
- 9:22on judy this is
- 9:24transparency here I could
- 9:26not wait till galad was
- 9:27over I could see cory
- 9:30everson's workout I didn't
- 9:32galad was after richard
- 9:34simmons though right
- 9:36So ESPN back in the day used
- 9:38to have like a workout
- 9:40block around lunchtime.
- 9:42Yeah.
- 9:42Gilad was a half an hour.
- 9:44Denise Austin was a half an hour.
- 9:46And then Corey Everson.
- 9:48Okay.
- 9:49Oh, my goodness.
- 9:50Corey Everson.
- 9:51Yeah.
- 9:52She was my crush when I was a young boy.
- 9:57Yeah.
- 9:57See, my mom just had the VHS tape,
- 9:59so I didn't watch it on ESPN.
- 10:01It was just, it was mom's workout time.
- 10:03So she'd put in the tape and
- 10:05then she would sometimes
- 10:06try and get me to do it.
- 10:07Like,
- 10:07I guess I needed to sweat to the
- 10:08oldies too.
- 10:09And she had buns of steel.
- 10:10That was the other one she had.
- 10:12Those were the two that she had.
- 10:15One of the topics could be your,
- 10:16your early exercise
- 10:18influence like Jane Fonda,
- 10:20Richard Simmons.
- 10:21Well, okay.
- 10:22So talking about my journey,
- 10:25how did I get into fitness?
- 10:27I was literally up one night
- 10:30eating too much food,
- 10:31drinking too much alcohol
- 10:34and was flipping through the television.
- 10:37And, you know,
- 10:38between the hours of like 11
- 10:40and three o'clock in the morning,
- 10:41four o'clock in the morning,
- 10:42it was nothing but infomercials.
- 10:45I found a beach body,
- 10:46which had like two programs at the time.
- 10:49I found a beach body program and I'm like,
- 10:51you know what?
- 10:53time to do something.
- 10:54I literally bought off of an infomercial.
- 10:56That's how I got into fitness.
- 10:57So I bought Beachbody too,
- 10:59before I started CrossFit like 08, 09.
- 11:02Yeah.
- 11:04I got the Beachbody and it was hard.
- 11:07Mine was earlier than that.
- 11:08I was 2004.
- 11:08I'm older than you.
- 11:10I'm older than you in the Beachbody world.
- 11:13Like I said, back then,
- 11:14I think Beachbody had,
- 11:16they had Debbie Sieber slim and six,
- 11:18which is what I got.
- 11:20They had P90.
- 11:20I don't even think they had P90X yet.
- 11:23And I think they had like
- 11:24one other program and that was it.
- 11:26Tony Horton was P90X,
- 11:28which has been mentioned as well.
- 11:30And Tony Horton did the
- 11:30original Beachbody and
- 11:31that's the one I ordered.
- 11:33That's yeah.
- 11:34He was like one of the OGs,
- 11:35but Billy Blanks, I remember him too.
- 11:37You guys remember Zumba was another one.
- 11:40See, this is the stuff that like,
- 11:42we just got to, we just,
- 11:43we got it rolling already.
- 11:45Everyone in that show.
- 11:46Imagine if there was a
- 11:47CrossFit like workout show.
- 11:51Yeah.
- 11:51I mean, I guess,
- 11:52I think StreamYard kind of
- 11:53tried to do that.
- 11:55They kind of like tried to make like a,
- 11:57you know, like a virtual, I don't know.
- 12:00Could you just imagine like the,
- 12:01could you just imagine like
- 12:04mimicking your CrossFit coach doing Fran?
- 12:09Like trying to keep up,
- 12:10like it would be so
- 12:11different because like back then,
- 12:13or like when you're watching the videos,
- 12:15like,
- 12:15like they're going at a
- 12:16tempo and you're trying to
- 12:18keep up with them.
- 12:18They're like down and up.
- 12:20Imagine like trying to keep
- 12:21up with one of your coaches
- 12:23doing like a workout and you're like,
- 12:25it'd be totally different stimulus,
- 12:27but just something that we
- 12:28want to do similar things.
- 12:29We want to have like a
- 12:30workout of the week that
- 12:31everybody can tackle.
- 12:33It's something basic that
- 12:35you can do in your garage and,
- 12:37and that we can talk about from,
- 12:39we can make that the Monday
- 12:40workout that we've been
- 12:41talking about with you.
- 12:42So we'll make that like the,
- 12:43the one you sent me
- 12:44yesterday was so easy.
- 12:46Are you kidding me?
- 12:48Right?
- 12:50Send me one.
- 12:51I did.
- 12:52I never got it.
- 12:54You didn't get it in,
- 12:54in the trainer eyes app.
- 12:56I did not.
- 12:57I have to double check on
- 12:58that in your app because I
- 13:00know I sent it last week after we talked.
- 13:01I remember I was typing it
- 13:03in as I was doing my walk.
- 13:07But yeah, it was bike and sandbag squats.
- 13:12I'll double check.
- 13:13I was busy because I went to
- 13:15Michigan this weekend.
- 13:16Okay.
- 13:18And that was a workout alone, deep,
- 13:20deep sand,
- 13:22trudging back and forth from lane to lane,
- 13:24trying to video.
- 13:25Oh my goodness.
- 13:26My legs hurt so bad yesterday.
- 13:28Yeah.
- 13:28So let's kind of, I guess,
- 13:29roll into a little bit of you.
- 13:31So fill us in.
- 13:33Oh, Jack.
- 13:33Denise Moore.
- 13:34I used to watch Jack LaLanne.
- 13:35That's how old I am.
- 13:37I just, he was the juicer guy, right?
- 13:39Well, before that he was an exercise guy.
- 13:42I know that,
- 13:42but I just know him as the guy
- 13:44that was super healthy and it was like,
- 13:46oh, the juicing.
- 13:46It must be the juicing.
- 13:49So where were you this weekend?
- 13:51You were at the Fresh Coast,
- 13:52something like that?
- 13:53Fresh Coast Fit Fest.
- 13:55It's on Lake Michigan in Michigan.
- 13:58And it's a big festival
- 14:02that's a CrossFit competition.
- 14:04And it's growing so big
- 14:06because it's right around
- 14:08where Rich grew up.
- 14:10So now Rich competes in it every year.
- 14:13and he brought, um, Ben Davidson and, uh,
- 14:17Dre strong and Dan Bailey
- 14:19with him this year.
- 14:20Plus some friends, cousins, uh,
- 14:22Darren Hunsaker was there, uh,
- 14:25eighth day CrossFit who
- 14:26puts teams in the games all the time,
- 14:29huge presence there.
- 14:30They're just down the road
- 14:30in grand Rapids.
- 14:33So major competition.
- 14:34And it's just beautiful.
- 14:36It's a huge Sandy, um,
- 14:42the rig is in the sand.
- 14:44The whole competition is in
- 14:45the sand until you swim.
- 14:47I think I remember watching
- 14:48like footage from them from last year,
- 14:51rich, like on the YouTube channel.
- 14:53I remember like them, like with the bikes,
- 14:55they had like little like
- 14:56black mats on the sand and
- 14:58all that kinds of stuff.
- 14:59So that sounds really awesome.
- 15:01So they snatched on the sand
- 15:03this year on a piece of
- 15:04plywood on the sand.
- 15:06Yeah.
- 15:07It's a little sketch sketch.
- 15:08So yeah,
- 15:09So they had rooms for
- 15:10everybody beside every,
- 15:11so you could sweep real
- 15:12quick if you needed to.
- 15:14Yeah.
- 15:14Um, but yeah, it was a little sketch,
- 15:17but yeah, that's, that's,
- 15:19that's the stuff that I don't like doing.
- 15:21I, where it gets like dangerous like that,
- 15:24I get kind of like risk
- 15:26versus reward as long as
- 15:27they weren't super heavy, I guess,
- 15:29you know?
- 15:30So it was a ladder.
- 15:31So you could go as far as
- 15:32you wanted to go.
- 15:33Yeah.
- 15:33Okay.
- 15:35The first event was actually
- 15:37the beach workout from the
- 15:38Games in 2014 team where
- 15:42they had the raft.
- 15:43Oh, yeah.
- 15:44The raft out around the buoys.
- 15:46Yeah.
- 15:46That was the first event.
- 15:48It's funny that I say that
- 15:49the whole sand thing,
- 15:50my very first regionals was, uh,
- 15:52in Jacksonville equestrian center.
- 15:55And it was so bad.
- 15:57It was sand.
- 15:59And we had like,
- 16:00just like little black platforms.
- 16:02And I remember that was the
- 16:03year that we had, um,
- 16:04it was a squat clean and
- 16:05thruster ladder and the
- 16:07standards on it were so strict.
- 16:09Like if you moved your foot,
- 16:10it like wouldn't count, but like,
- 16:13it was so uneven.
- 16:14So I just craziness, but
- 16:17Anyways, well, I feel like, I mean,
- 16:19I wouldn't have known you
- 16:20were away because I looked
- 16:21in your nutrition and it
- 16:23looks like you logged this weekend,
- 16:26which typically when you're out of town,
- 16:28it's usually a little bit
- 16:29more difficult for you.
- 16:30So boom, that's a win.
- 16:32Cause I know after our talk on Thursday,
- 16:34you were like,
- 16:34I need to just get back in a saddle.
- 16:36So I'm proud of you.
- 16:38I logged the entire trip.
- 16:40Yeah.
- 16:41It looks like you kept it pretty simple.
- 16:43Did you pack your food?
- 16:45I didn't.
- 16:46Oh.
- 16:47I did pack some,
- 16:48but like dinners were out.
- 16:50Yeah.
- 16:51Because that's why I was like,
- 16:52it looks like it was pretty basic.
- 16:54Just breakfast, lunch,
- 16:55dinner for the most part.
- 16:57That's pretty much what it was.
- 16:59And then when did you get back home?
- 17:00Sunday night?
- 17:02Sunday at two.
- 17:03Okay.
- 17:04I gotcha.
- 17:05Awesome.
- 17:05And what I did...
- 17:08I actually,
- 17:08we had chicken and zucchini on
- 17:10Thursday before we left and
- 17:13I made an extra serving for each of us.
- 17:17So when we got back Sunday,
- 17:18it was waiting and just
- 17:19needed to heat it up.
- 17:20And that was, that's, I love doing that.
- 17:22That's the easiest thing for me.
- 17:23In fact,
- 17:24I put out in my Facebook group last week,
- 17:27a new recipe.
- 17:28It came out really good.
- 17:29If you like Alfredo,
- 17:31it's a high protein chicken Alfredo,
- 17:33but it also freezes very well.
- 17:35And it's one of those things
- 17:36that you can make in a
- 17:37batch and then like
- 17:38put a couple in the freezer
- 17:40and you know it's good so
- 17:42but um I am all into fresh
- 17:44vegetables right now we
- 17:46actually have some here in
- 17:47ohio so like if you notice
- 17:49like I'm eating a lot of
- 17:50tomatoes a lot of zucchini
- 17:52a lot of carrots yeah
- 17:54because it's all fresh yeah
- 17:57it's so funny that you say
- 17:58that because I feel like I
- 17:59can get vegetables whenever
- 18:01well that's because you live in florida
- 18:03Is it really hard?
- 18:04I just, I, it's crazy.
- 18:05I don't, it's bizarre to me.
- 18:07Like,
- 18:07I guess that there is places in the world,
- 18:09I guess it depends.
- 18:10I will like,
- 18:11so I have a client that lives
- 18:12in like the middle of nowhere.
- 18:14And sometimes she's like,
- 18:15it's really hard to get
- 18:16good food here because like, it's,
- 18:19she's got like two very
- 18:20like low end grocery stores.
- 18:22So if she wants to go somewhere,
- 18:23she has to drive like 40 minutes.
- 18:24And like the closest one is
- 18:25like a Walmart.
- 18:27which we all know that
- 18:28getting produce from
- 18:29Walmart is like you might
- 18:30as well be buying produce
- 18:31from last year's Christmas.
- 18:35So it's hard.
- 18:37So I guess I don't think about it.
- 18:40I think it's the whole seasonal thing.
- 18:43I always tried to get into that,
- 18:45but I never really could.
- 18:46Florida has two growing seasons.
- 18:49I live there.
- 18:50We have one growing season.
- 18:52Yeah.
- 18:53I just feel like people talk
- 18:54about it's good to eat seasonally,
- 18:57but I'll be honest, I don't do that.
- 18:59I probably could,
- 19:00but I get kind of in ruts.
- 19:02I like other vegetables like
- 19:05eggplant and stuff like that,
- 19:06but I just don't change what I eat.
- 19:08I like to just keep it simple.
- 19:10Maybe I should expand a little bit more.
- 19:13I think in the North that,
- 19:14and that may be like a
- 19:15topic we could talk about in North.
- 19:18You have to change because
- 19:19things just aren't available.
- 19:20Some, some parts of the year.
- 19:23Well,
- 19:23there's a lot of down here and a lot
- 19:25of like farmers and they do
- 19:27have farmers markets and
- 19:28that's going to be what seasonal,
- 19:30but I just go to Publix and, you know,
- 19:33get my normal routine veggies.
- 19:36So I'm kind of stuck in my broccoli,
- 19:38asparagus, zucchini, and cauliflower.
- 19:41Those are kind of like my four staples.
- 19:43Yeah, there's times I can't get zucchini.
- 19:46Yeah, I would say yes.
- 19:47There's times down here too
- 19:48where I'll go to buy it and
- 19:51I'm like very picky about zucchini.
- 19:53This is like, this is going to be maybe,
- 19:56can you relate to this?
- 19:57Zucchini,
- 19:58I don't like the big ones when
- 20:00there's all the seeds in them.
- 20:02It's got to be the smaller
- 20:03zucchini where there's not
- 20:04a lot of seeds because
- 20:04there's too many seeds.
- 20:05I feel like the texture of it,
- 20:08when you cook it, it gets mushy.
- 20:10So won't eat it.
- 20:11I'm like very picky about that.
- 20:17so yeah Heidi I can get
- 20:19frozen vegetables I just
- 20:20prefer having fresh and I
- 20:21would rather have whatever
- 20:22is fresh frozen alternative
- 20:26and I also feel like
- 20:27there's only certain
- 20:28vegetables that are okay to
- 20:29eat frozen like like I
- 20:31won't eat frozen zucchini
- 20:33there's just no it's like
- 20:34it's like mushy, but like I'll do frozen,
- 20:37frozen broccoli.
- 20:38I'll do the cauliflower rice.
- 20:40Like I don't like frozen Brussels sprouts.
- 20:43I just, they just don't taste the same.
- 20:45I don't know.
- 20:45There's just something that
- 20:47just don't taste good frozen,
- 20:48but I always have a stash
- 20:50of frozen veggies in.
- 20:51So, but yeah, I was, I was super.
- 20:54So am I Corey.
- 20:55So am I, I am bougie as hell.
- 20:58yeah I i would agree it's
- 21:00better to pay pay more for
- 21:01the better stuff so like I
- 21:03said I'm I'm very happy
- 21:04with uh with you tracking
- 21:07getting back on track with
- 21:08things with that and I
- 21:09think that like right now
- 21:10our main focus um I kind of
- 21:13want to like talk about
- 21:14like what my I feel like my
- 21:16goals for you are right now
- 21:17is I think we talk a lot
- 21:19about tracking food
- 21:20tracking food tracking food
- 21:21like why are we tracking
- 21:23food obviously it's because
- 21:25Well,
- 21:25we want to know what's going in so we
- 21:27can obviously make changes
- 21:28and adjustments.
- 21:29But I think instead,
- 21:31let's focus on the health
- 21:32perspective and the
- 21:33perspective of like what
- 21:34we're trying to change is
- 21:36you're obviously we're
- 21:37trying to lose fat.
- 21:38We're trying to improve blood biomarkers,
- 21:40but we're also looking at
- 21:41like optimizing how you're feeling.
- 21:43So and I think this is where
- 21:44people go into the problem
- 21:46when they go into macros or
- 21:47tracking is like, oh,
- 21:49I was under my calories, so I did good.
- 21:51I think I want you actually
- 21:52working on not just tracking your food,
- 21:54but actually having a plan
- 21:55to be within your nutrient ranges.
- 21:57And we've talked about this before,
- 21:59that I don't think that
- 22:01your nutrition ranges ever
- 22:03need to be spot on.
- 22:05I talk about this today on my own podcast.
- 22:06It's like,
- 22:07when I say Scott's goal is 225
- 22:09grams of protein or whatever it is,
- 22:12it doesn't mean that he has
- 22:13to be 225 grams of protein
- 22:15every single day.
- 22:16It means, hey,
- 22:17If you're at around 185 to 225,
- 22:20you're in a good range.
- 22:21I'm happy with that.
- 22:21Like a minimum and a maximum.
- 22:23And I think that just
- 22:24getting you for the next
- 22:25couple of weeks leading up to the games,
- 22:27just really focusing on
- 22:29balance that way without any pressure.
- 22:32And your goals right now
- 22:33just being action driven is
- 22:36where we can really make a
- 22:37lot of progress to get that
- 22:39consistency building.
- 22:40Because now tracking isn't
- 22:41really tracking food.
- 22:42It's planning food.
- 22:45I like that idea.
- 22:46And I think that that's a
- 22:47tip for anybody out there.
- 22:49And I can relate to this myself.
- 22:51When I first started
- 22:52tracking my own food back in the day,
- 22:55and well, I had taken it back.
- 22:57I was a calorie counter when
- 22:58I was very young.
- 23:00And then when I got into
- 23:00using a tracking app,
- 23:02I was a lazy tracker.
- 23:04I was the girl that would
- 23:05track maybe part of my day.
- 23:07I wouldn't weigh all of my portions.
- 23:09I'd weigh my meat out.
- 23:10I wouldn't weigh the other things.
- 23:12And I would see like blank
- 23:13spots everywhere.
- 23:15When I actually started to
- 23:16track and look at those
- 23:18numbers and nutrition nutrients,
- 23:21I really started to feel so much better.
- 23:23But I also was able to
- 23:25improve my relationship
- 23:27with food because prior to that,
- 23:29I was just like you, Scott.
- 23:30And I was like told everything.
- 23:32Like, carbs are the devil.
- 23:33Like, don't eat grains.
- 23:35Don't eat those foods.
- 23:36They're bad for you.
- 23:37And in doing that,
- 23:39I would go through periods
- 23:40where I would be super strict on my diet.
- 23:42And then I would tell myself, oh,
- 23:44I'm going to eat a little
- 23:44bit of this and that.
- 23:45And then I would feel like
- 23:46crap about myself.
- 23:47So...
- 23:48I actually stopped having
- 23:50cravings and I was able to
- 23:53start to feel better, look better,
- 23:55perform better and all
- 23:56those things by focusing on that.
- 23:58So, um, so yeah,
- 24:00I think that we can work on
- 24:01planning that in and making
- 24:02that planning things in and
- 24:04making that part of
- 24:05what our focus point is
- 24:07going into the next couple
- 24:08of weeks is just this way.
- 24:10Cause I did know this
- 24:11weekend's not a good
- 24:12example because you were out of town,
- 24:13but you need way more than 1200 calories.
- 24:16But I know that you're like, well,
- 24:18I tracked and I feel,
- 24:20and that's why we track.
- 24:21Okay.
- 24:22We know you were definitely
- 24:23under a little bit this weekend,
- 24:24but that's okay.
- 24:25It happens sometimes.
- 24:27So good.
- 24:29It was not ideal this weekend,
- 24:32so I made the best of it
- 24:34because I didn't have time
- 24:35to pack a bunch of stuff.
- 24:37Yeah, for sure.
- 24:38And that's really what it is.
- 24:39I would much rather you,
- 24:41somebody who's looking to
- 24:42improve their insulin sensitivity,
- 24:44lose fat,
- 24:45I would much rather you be under
- 24:47than over as long as...
- 24:50You're not seeing a huge
- 24:52drop in your energy to
- 24:54where it's causing anxiety or stress,
- 24:57or it doesn't trigger a
- 24:58huge binge response where
- 25:00all of a sudden you're like starving.
- 25:02Those are the two things to watch out for.
- 25:04And I don't think either of
- 25:05those things happen.
- 25:05You are probably having
- 25:07entirely too much fun.
- 25:09Yeah.
- 25:09And I was tired.
- 25:11Like I fell asleep early.
- 25:12Yeah.
- 25:14When you're trudging through
- 25:15a foot of sand all day,
- 25:19like you're whooped and the
- 25:20sun was blazing hot and not
- 25:23a cloud in the sky.
- 25:24So it was a beautiful day, but man,
- 25:26it just took it out of me.
- 25:27Yeah.
- 25:28How about your workouts?
- 25:29I know obviously this
- 25:30weekend was trudging and
- 25:31all that kinds of stuff.
- 25:32Yesterday was a rest day.
- 25:33Did you end up working out today?
- 25:35So at lunch, I just lifted.
- 25:36It's been a stressful day.
- 25:39So I just, I went to 185 on my clean,
- 25:44which is the most I've gone
- 25:45to in a very long time.
- 25:46Awesome.
- 25:47And just kept cleaning until I felt good.
- 25:50And then I'll probably go
- 25:51out and do like a zone two
- 25:53something tonight.
- 25:54I think that honestly, Scott, for you,
- 25:56I know that getting to the
- 25:57gym right now has been very challenging.
- 26:00it might be good for you for
- 26:02maybe the next two weeks
- 26:03until the games look like, all right,
- 26:05let's do like a Monday
- 26:06monostructural type thing.
- 26:08Tuesday, lift.
- 26:10Wednesday,
- 26:10some kind of a conditioning thing.
- 26:12Thursday, maybe lift.
- 26:14Friday, maybe conditioning thing.
- 26:16Saturday and Sunday,
- 26:18rest or go do things with
- 26:19your wife and take the
- 26:20weekend off and kind of do
- 26:23the same thing next week.
- 26:24That might be the best thing for you.
- 26:27Yeah, it felt good to lift.
- 26:29I just haven't even tried to
- 26:32go heavy on a lift.
- 26:34I know 185 doesn't sound heavy,
- 26:35but it is the heaviest I've
- 26:37gone in a long time.
- 26:38Well, listen, again,
- 26:39that's why we're changing
- 26:40direction of the show.
- 26:41We can all relate, myself included,
- 26:43to being like, wow,
- 26:45this isn't really heavy,
- 26:46but it feels heavy today.
- 26:48As I was talking about those
- 26:49squat cleans at 95 pounds,
- 26:51I used to be able to easily
- 26:53do Elizabeth 21-15-9 and
- 26:55squat cleans and ring dips
- 26:57in like three and a half
- 26:58minutes unbroken.
- 27:00And I'm like doing sets of
- 27:0110 yesterday at that weight.
- 27:02And I'm like, this feels so heavy,
- 27:04but I haven't been able to
- 27:05lift heavy in a very long time.
- 27:07So that is relatively heavy
- 27:09right now for me.
- 27:11So I get it though.
- 27:12It doesn't, it does.
- 27:12You always feel like you
- 27:13have to kind of reason with yourself.
- 27:15Well,
- 27:16It was just a while.
- 27:17So I think that, yeah,
- 27:19getting you back into some
- 27:20strength progressions would be good.
- 27:22Maybe post, we won't start anything now,
- 27:24but maybe after you get
- 27:26back from the games.
- 27:31you can maybe, I'm sure it's Christie,
- 27:33if you're gonna go back to the gym,
- 27:34getting you into like a squat,
- 27:35like they're always doing,
- 27:36I think they're just starting a cycle,
- 27:37but getting you squatting
- 27:39again safely so that you don't, you know,
- 27:42injure yourself again.
- 27:43But I think that that's also,
- 27:45this is a great time
- 27:47As I mentioned that I wanted
- 27:48the topic today really to
- 27:49be just about consistency or chaos.
- 27:51Now is not the time for you
- 27:52to be making big changes.
- 27:54You've got to travel plans in two weeks.
- 27:55I think that the next two weeks, it's like,
- 27:58let's just keep things consistent.
- 28:00Let's keep focusing on the
- 28:01actions that you're already doing.
- 28:03and getting the reps built in.
- 28:06Um,
- 28:06and that's what a lot of people should
- 28:07be doing at this time of year.
- 28:08But while you're in that,
- 28:10it's what's the next chapter look like?
- 28:13Okay.
- 28:13Like after the games, you know, yes,
- 28:15you're going to have the
- 28:16masters coming up.
- 28:17When is the masters again?
- 28:19Labor Day weekend.
- 28:20Well, I don't know when Labor Day is.
- 28:21I can't remember.
- 28:22September.
- 28:23Like the first day of September.
- 28:25Yeah.
- 28:26And is, is it, how many days is it?
- 28:27Is it three days?
- 28:28Uh, four.
- 28:30OK, well, that's good.
- 28:31I was going to say then we
- 28:32can kind of look at, OK,
- 28:33post games until then.
- 28:35That's about three or four
- 28:36weeks and we'll get some
- 28:38progress made right for the games.
- 28:41And then we do it again, you know,
- 28:42and then we kind of have
- 28:42like a little bit more of a
- 28:43cadence and you have a
- 28:45little bit more of a plan, you know,
- 28:46because really, if you think about it,
- 28:48if we start looking at this now, August,
- 28:51September, October,
- 28:53that'll give us 12 to 16
- 28:54weeks before the holiday season.
- 28:56Can you guys believe that
- 28:57that I'm already saying that?
- 28:59August, September, October is 12 weeks.
- 29:01So we're looking at about 16
- 29:02weeks of being able to
- 29:04really kind of put some
- 29:05work in and then take
- 29:06another little break.
- 29:07You know,
- 29:08that's part of life and where
- 29:09you're just coasting again through chaos.
- 29:13So just to recap some things,
- 29:16we are taking a couple
- 29:18weeks off to revamp the show.
- 29:21We're looking for your input.
- 29:22We want it to be more
- 29:24community-driven with some
- 29:27things we can do together as a community.
- 29:30We want it to include everybody's journey,
- 29:32not just mine and Cheryl's,
- 29:34but we want everybody to join in on that.
- 29:38And with that...
- 29:40Yeah,
- 29:40and we'll come back in a couple weeks
- 29:42with a new name, a new show, same people,
- 29:46same supportive group,
- 29:48and just keep on pushing.
- 29:52All right, guys.
- 29:54And just so you know,
- 29:56Cheryl and I are not taking a break.
- 29:57Her and I are still going to
- 29:58meet every week through this break.
- 30:01Yes.
- 30:01As we're going,
- 30:02it's just the show that's taking a break,
- 30:05revamping so we can just
- 30:07kind of modify it and make it fit better.
- 30:09And even scheduling wise so
- 30:12that our check-in is before the show.
- 30:14Yeah.
- 30:15Yeah.
- 30:15Scott's check-in guys every
- 30:17week is on Thursdays.
- 30:18So normally I do my client
- 30:20check-ins on Sunday, Monday or Wednesday,
- 30:22Thursday.
- 30:23So.
- 30:24um he normally gets his
- 30:25check-in notes and I'll
- 30:26usually review things and
- 30:27we have some things to talk
- 30:28about on our call and then
- 30:30going into this week for
- 30:32the show yeah yeah so we
- 30:34want to flip it because
- 30:35right now it's we do the
- 30:36show then the check-in we
- 30:37want it to be the check-in
- 30:38then the show so with that
- 30:42uh corey we we are on a break
- 30:45Yeah, I started reading the comments,
- 30:46which is never a good thing
- 30:47because we could be on here
- 30:48for another hour just
- 30:49watching what Jake has to
- 30:51say and Heidi and Jodi and Judy,
- 30:53all of them.
- 30:55Yeah.
- 30:55And, and just, you know,
- 30:56we want it to be more,
- 30:57we want it to have a topic every week too,
- 30:59that we talk about and we
- 31:01want to keep the fun.
- 31:02We want like what your favorite foods are,
- 31:05the nostalgia of Galad and
- 31:08Billy Blanks and Corey
- 31:10Everson and all of that stuff.
- 31:12We want to keep all that fun
- 31:13stuff in the show.
- 31:14We just want to have,
- 31:16we want it to be more
- 31:18community driven and we
- 31:20want it to have a topic
- 31:21every week and more focused on everybody.
- 31:25Yeah, what I'll probably end up doing,
- 31:26and we can end on this,
- 31:27is have Scott and I put out
- 31:31every single week on our
- 31:32Instagram stories.
- 31:33So if you don't follow us, follow us,
- 31:35which you guys got to be
- 31:36following us on Instagram.
- 31:37Come on now.
- 31:39It's like a Q&A so that if
- 31:40you guys have listener questions,
- 31:42we can make sure we're
- 31:42getting those answered too.
- 31:44And if you guys have
- 31:44specific things about nutrition, fitness,
- 31:47training, skills, life, whatever,
- 31:52or any topics that you want
- 31:53us to talk about,
- 31:55How come they ain't talking about this?
- 31:56Like, bring it up.
- 31:57We want to talk about it.
- 31:58And here's an idea.
- 31:59If you have something you
- 32:00did awesome in the gym and
- 32:01you have video of it,
- 32:02send it to us and we'll
- 32:03share it on the show.
- 32:04Oh, I would love that.
- 32:06I love it.
- 32:07Like a PR or just something
- 32:09you did that made you feel
- 32:10good that week.
- 32:11Yeah.
- 32:12We can,
- 32:13we can cheer on everybody in the crowd.
- 32:15Can we share our own PRs too, Scott?
- 32:18We can.
- 32:19Let's like, let's do that too.
- 32:20I love this.
- 32:21I'm like getting so super
- 32:22excited for this.
- 32:23That's how we want it to be
- 32:25more community.
- 32:27We'll share our stuff still.
- 32:28Yeah.
- 32:30You guys to share too.
- 32:31Yeah.
- 32:31I'm just going to just comment, Jake,
- 32:33you can totally ask your
- 32:35men's health issues for sure.
- 32:37And I will be honest with you.
- 32:39Okay.
- 32:41If I don't have the answer,
- 32:42I will be honest with you and tell you,
- 32:44I don't have the answer and
- 32:45I will make sure that I get
- 32:46you the answer.
- 32:47So, and yeah,
- 32:49Yeah, that's it.
- 32:50We'll leave it at that.
- 32:52Like Denise is going to be
- 32:53at the CrossFit Games and
- 32:54on Labor Day weekend in the
- 32:5665 plus and I'll be
- 32:58shooting video of her.
- 32:59So we'll have that to share
- 33:01on the show as well.
- 33:02That's awesome.
- 33:02I'm excited for all.
- 33:03Yeah,
- 33:04I can't wait to see some of the games
- 33:05footage.
- 33:06So Chad, thousand step ups for time.
- 33:11Yeah, I don't know if you heard,
- 33:12but we got full
- 33:14behind-the-scenes access at
- 33:15the Masters CrossFit Games.
- 33:17So we're going to be
- 33:18covering that behind the scenes,
- 33:21interviewing Denise.
- 33:23Awesome.
- 33:24And Jamie, and Jamie Hygieia,
- 33:26and Becca Voigt, and Val Robrel,
- 33:29who made it to the Games this year,
- 33:31and all those super cool athletes.
- 33:33All the OGs, yeah.
- 33:35Can I just do a little tangent here?
- 33:38For all my ladies in the chat, Jake,
- 33:40you can...
- 33:41take this as you will.
- 33:42I know you're talking about
- 33:43men's hormones and all that.
- 33:45I made a podcast episode or
- 33:46I did a metabolism masterclass.
- 33:48And a lot of you ladies are
- 33:50in that listen to this are
- 33:51in your forties and fifties.
- 33:53Next time somebody tells you,
- 33:55you should stop doing
- 33:55CrossFit because it's bad
- 33:56for your hormones.
- 33:58I want you to,
- 33:58the only reason I'm saying
- 33:59this is I want you to think
- 34:00about people like Denise
- 34:03that are 65 plus the, the valve overalls,
- 34:06the,
- 34:07the Rebecca voids that have been
- 34:08doing CrossFit for years.
- 34:11And they don't have the
- 34:13problems because CrossFit
- 34:16is not bad for your hormones.
- 34:18All right.
- 34:19So like there is a lot of good things.
- 34:20That was my only last tangent.
- 34:22So next time you are getting
- 34:24told that CrossFit is bad for you,
- 34:26think about those women out
- 34:28there and also think about
- 34:30the other things that might
- 34:31be impacting your hormones
- 34:33that are not related to
- 34:34CrossFit that those ladies
- 34:35probably have dialed in.
- 34:36So that was my only other tangent.
- 34:39As I said,
- 34:39it's going to be a show about everything.
- 34:41So.
- 34:43so with that shoot us a dm
- 34:44if you have ideas for the
- 34:45show um shoot us an idea if
- 34:47you have questions and
- 34:49again we wanna we wanna
- 34:50celebrate everybody on this
- 34:52show not just cheryl and I
- 34:54and we're gonna have a good
- 34:55time doing that we just
- 34:57need to reinvent it come up
- 34:58with new slides new
- 35:00backdrops new music the
- 35:02whole bit uh and it'll be a
- 35:04fresh new clean version of
- 35:05what we have here
- 35:07in just a few weeks because
- 35:08the games are two and a
- 35:09half weeks away with that.
- 35:12Thank you so much for joining us.
- 35:13Thank you, chat.
- 35:14You are always awesome.
- 35:16You make this show what it is.
- 35:18And that's why we want to
- 35:19include you more and more
- 35:20and more with that.
- 35:21We'll see everybody next
- 35:22time on whatever we call this show.
- 35:24But for now,
- 35:25the Clydesdale media weight loss journey.
- 35:27Bye guys.
