- 1:58Speaker 3: let's stalk some Hallmark news and notes. Tell me a
- 2:02Speaker 3: couple things coming up from the network. They did drop
- 2:05Speaker 3: their January schedule. We are getting four Hallmark brand new movies.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Oh wow, they do not slow down. I kind of
- 2:15Speaker 3: was thinking, I know you did it too, Maybe we'll
- 2:17Speaker 3: get two I know you did, and I said, no way,
- 2:19Speaker 3: no way. If they kept the train on the tracks
- 2:21Speaker 3: for forty movies, We're getting four new movies on the
- 2:25Speaker 3: Hallmark Channel. We are also getting a brand new mystery.
- 2:28Speaker 3: The mystery is titled True Justice Family Ties.
- 2:34Speaker 4: Hmm, wait a minute, that sure sounds a lot like
- 2:38Speaker 4: that DNA movie Family History Mysteries Buried Past sounds nothing
- 2:43Speaker 4: like that.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Literally, not a single word is the same. I thought
- 2:51Speaker 3: it was rhyming the same. Whatever is that on Hallmark
- 2:55Speaker 3: Movies and Mysteries in January? Indeed it will be Do
- 2:58Speaker 3: we know who's in it yet? Arthur McNamara is in
- 3:01Speaker 3: it From She plays a law student on a mission
- 3:03Speaker 3: to demonstrate her brother's wrongful conviction. Oh, Hetie right, this
- 3:08Speaker 3: is a nice twist on the mystery franchise. Hey, and
- 3:11Speaker 3: I like that she's a law student, not like a
- 3:13Speaker 3: baker who likes to solve crimes. On the side, I'm
- 3:17Speaker 3: excited about this potential new franchise. I assume every mystery
- 3:20Speaker 3: is potential new franchise. And of course we have The
- 3:23Speaker 3: Way Home, which we discussed last week. It does drop
- 3:26Speaker 3: season two on Sunday, January twenty first, so lots coming
- 3:31Speaker 3: from the network. You can read about the entire lineup
- 3:35Speaker 3: on our website, Magan and Hendy dot com. We also
- 3:38Speaker 3: have a little bit of February news storing the movies.
- 3:40Speaker 3: This weekend. There was a little chiron running across the
- 3:43Speaker 3: bottom of the screen that said, love Youary Heart Jane Austen. Yeah,
- 3:49Speaker 3: are we getting a full movie, full slate of Jane
- 3:52Speaker 3: Austen inspired movies, or are we just getting Paiging Mister
- 3:56Speaker 3: Darcy starring Cindy Busby. It is yet to be seen,
- 3:59Speaker 3: you know, likes to hold on to that news till
- 4:01Speaker 3: the very last minute. But Paging Mister Darcy is the
- 4:04Speaker 3: third Mister Darcy movie. The first Unleashing Mister Darcy, followed
- 4:09Speaker 3: by Marrying Mister Darcy. Those dropped in twenty sixteen and
- 4:12Speaker 3: twenty eighteen, respectively. They did star Cindy Busby alongside Ryan Pavey,
- 4:18Speaker 3: but all signs point to Ryan Pavey being not involved
- 4:22Speaker 3: in this movie.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Was he mister Darcy, He had to have been the
- 4:25Speaker 4: love interest obviously, Okay, but there's no Abigdonnavan Darcy, so
- 4:30Speaker 4: there's no indication that he's going to be in this
- 4:32Speaker 4: third movie.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Correct. There were a number of signs that while she
- 4:36Speaker 3: is on set, he is not, and is in fact
- 4:38Speaker 3: very obviously elsewhere. They have not made any comments about
- 4:43Speaker 3: the new mister Darcy or why he would not be there,
- 4:47Speaker 3: will wait for an official announcement. Oh boy, I don't
- 4:50Speaker 3: know how I feel.
- 4:51Speaker 4: About a whole slate of Jane Austen inspired movies.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Well, let's see what we actually end up getting from them. Okay,
- 5:00Speaker 3: let's hear a synopsis for a Not So Royal Christmas.
- 5:04Speaker 4: Tabloid journalist Charlotte attempts to land an interview with their
- 5:09Speaker 4: reclusive count. In response, the royal family has a groundskeeper
- 5:14Speaker 4: pose as the count since the real one fled years ago.
- 5:18Speaker 3: I have a question, would you rather a whole month
- 5:20Speaker 3: of Austin movies or a whole month of Royal movies?
- 5:26Speaker 3: That's that's a hard decision.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Hm, I don't know, two genres that are really not
- 5:32Speaker 4: my jam.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Let's do some news and notes about and not so
- 5:35Speaker 3: Royal Christmas. This movie was filmed in Ontario, Canada, not
- 5:39Speaker 3: in Scandinavia. Obviously Nordon is a fictional country. But they
- 5:43Speaker 3: didn't even they didn't even try. Well, I had to
- 5:47Speaker 3: ask Megan. I was like, Nordon's not real, right, Wendy
- 5:50Speaker 3: whose husband's family is Scandinavian?
- 5:54Speaker 4: But I mean they're from like Copenhagen, so you know,
- 5:58Speaker 4: I know that's real. I don't claim to be an expert.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Jonathan Wright directed this movie. His twenty thiet directing credits
- 6:06Speaker 4: are mostly Hallmark and include both A Royal Nanny and
- 6:10Speaker 4: Jolly Good Christmas from twenty twenty three. I guess he
- 6:13Speaker 4: likes working with Will Camp. I wonder if the directors
- 6:17Speaker 4: have any say on him.
- 6:19Speaker 3: I'm sure they're part of the casting. I'm certain you
- 6:22Speaker 3: know a little side note here.
- 6:23Speaker 4: I was dming with Jeff Beasley over the weekend he
- 6:27Speaker 4: was the director for The Santa Summit, because I love
- 6:31Speaker 4: those actresses that were in that movie. Do you recall
- 6:33Speaker 4: a couple of weeks ago, I was like, we need
- 6:35Speaker 4: to start a petition for Amy Greening and Stephanie Syde exactly.
- 6:38Speaker 4: And he's like, look at me pulling those names.
- 6:40Speaker 3: I'm impressed.
- 6:41Speaker 4: And he DMed and he was like, yes, I would
- 6:44Speaker 4: totally love both of them to be my leading lady.
- 6:46Speaker 4: And I was like, do we need to rope Penny
- 6:48Speaker 4: Perry into this conversation because she does all the like
- 6:52Speaker 4: not staffing, casting, casting for these movies a lot of them.
- 6:56Speaker 3: And he's like yes, and I'm like, yeah, twenty twenty four,
- 7:00Speaker 3: let's do it. And he was like have like back
- 7:03Speaker 3: and forth and so anyway, I was how great would
- 7:07Speaker 3: Amy Greening and Mattie Finocchio be on screen together? Both
- 7:11Speaker 3: a little.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Unique and kooky. I think it might be magical. Yes,
- 7:16Speaker 4: let me let me slide into that one. I mean
- 7:20Speaker 4: hire us. We have ideas, guys.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Yes, like a royal movie, likes Willcamp, likes a a
- 7:28Speaker 3: fake British setting. Did you notice all the British accents
- 7:30Speaker 3: in this non UK set film? I have a note
- 7:35Speaker 3: about that later. All right. This movie was written by
- 7:37Speaker 3: Anna White. She has twenty TV moving writing credits, which
- 7:39Speaker 3: are mostly homework and homework esque movies. You know what
- 7:42Speaker 3: I mean by that?
- 7:42Speaker 1: Ye?
- 7:43Speaker 3: But she's also written Cheer Camp, Killer, and Kill Her
- 7:46Speaker 3: cheer Mom.
- 7:47Speaker 4: I believe kill her cheer Mom. I've seen and might
- 7:51Speaker 4: star one Denise Richards.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Oh let me pull it up? How good? Am I?
- 7:56Speaker 3: Did you pull that out? That's Denise Richards. Be careful, yes, yes,
- 8:01Speaker 3: this is Denise Richards.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Eighteen suspects her new stepmother in sabotaging other students from
- 8:07Speaker 4: joining the squad.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Stars Denise Richards. She's trying to get her stepdaughter on
- 8:13Speaker 3: the squad, so she's like Tanya hardying these other girls. Yes, wow,
- 8:19Speaker 3: I am impressed that you pulled that out of the wall.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Like these kind of movies.
- 8:22Speaker 4: I know you do, so shout out, Anna White, I've
- 8:24Speaker 4: seen your other stuff. Brooke Doors stars as Charlotte. Brook's
- 8:30Speaker 4: first Hallmark movie was titled Miss Christmas in twenty seventeen
- 8:34Speaker 4: and has been a staple for the network ever since.
- 8:36Speaker 4: She was the lead on Royal Pains on the USA
- 8:39Speaker 4: network and has had a multi episode arc on Two
- 8:43Speaker 4: and a Half Men, and also played Dead deb and
- 8:48Speaker 4: Drop Dead Diva.
- 8:49Speaker 3: I love that series. I've never seen it. It is
- 8:52Speaker 3: currently in syndication on the Hallmark I'll look for it
- 8:56Speaker 3: when I have time. Add it to your friendly cue.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Will Camp plays Adam Petterson. This isn't Will's first royal
- 9:04Speaker 3: role on Hallmark, as he appeared in Royal Matchmaker for
- 9:08Speaker 3: the network in twenty eighteen, which launched his Hallmark career.
- 9:12Speaker 4: Roy Lewis plays Sir Gustus. Roy has forty two acting credits,
- 9:17Speaker 4: including six TV Christmas movies and the Chris Farley movie
- 9:22Speaker 4: Tommy Boy Rip.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Roy was left off of the IMDb account. The IMD
- 9:28Speaker 3: was Slim Slim but never You fear did the Deep
- 9:33Speaker 3: Diving and found some of our other stars here because
- 9:36Speaker 3: we do research guys. Name that callback Taylor Love plays
- 9:40Speaker 3: Kirsten Taylor has twenty two acting credits, but this is
- 9:43Speaker 3: her first Hallmark movie. She could previously be seen in
- 9:46Speaker 3: the TV series Shelved Summer Memories and the Most Dangerous Game.
- 9:51Speaker 3: She's a Canadian actress who is British and Jamaican, So
- 9:56Speaker 3: I wonder if these are Canadian series. Yes, I've heard
- 10:00Speaker 3: of either of those. Are you ready for a first
- 10:04Speaker 3: impression of it? Not so Royal Christmas? Yes, go for it.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Oh no, a relationship begins with flies, lots of lies.
- 10:12Speaker 3: I don't know if we've discussed this here on the podcast,
- 10:14Speaker 3: but I was digging back through some old episodes and
- 10:19Speaker 3: we used to have a segment in our podcast called
- 10:21Speaker 3: uh oh oh this this movie really called for uh oh.
- 10:26Speaker 3: My first impression is do these people not have Google?
- 10:30Speaker 3: Because it would have taken one second to figure out
- 10:35Speaker 3: that Charlotte was not who she said she was?
- 10:37Speaker 1: Oh?
- 10:37Speaker 3: Sure?
- 10:38Speaker 4: But even like the count too, like, is this so
- 10:42Speaker 4: under wraps? The Royal family has not like the dude fled,
- 10:46Speaker 4: their original count fled.
- 10:48Speaker 3: They've kept it a secret. For four years. Come on,
- 10:51Speaker 3: come on, the tiny town of Norden. The few people
- 10:55Speaker 3: that roamed the halls never saw the count. It's time
- 10:58Speaker 3: to talk about what we liked about not so royal Christmas.
- 11:02Speaker 3: You're looking at me, you want me to go for sure? Okay?
- 11:05Speaker 4: So I've seen a lot of feedback that people didn't
- 11:08Speaker 4: really like this movie. While I didn't hate it, I
- 11:13Speaker 4: also found it kind of forgettable.
- 11:17Speaker 3: I'm with you, okay. It to me felt very.
- 11:21Speaker 4: Classic homework formula. You know, we have like lots of
- 11:27Speaker 4: lies and the random friend to confide in and like misunderstandings.
- 11:33Speaker 3: So yeah, I agree. So I also didn't hate this movie.
- 11:37Speaker 3: I don't think it's a particularly strong offering, and there
- 11:41Speaker 3: are some low budget moments that were hard to take.
- 11:44Speaker 3: But I did find it completely watchable. I didn't feel
- 11:48Speaker 3: like throwing things at the television. I've been there before.
- 11:51Speaker 3: But here's the reason why I found it watchable. Brook
- 11:55Speaker 3: and will save this movie for me. Oh okay. I
- 11:58Speaker 3: find them both very likable on screen, and so I
- 12:01Speaker 3: found it easy to forgive a fairly weak storyline because
- 12:04Speaker 3: they're charming and fun to watch and pretty and they
- 12:10Speaker 3: have a nice connection on camera. I agree, and therefore
- 12:14Speaker 3: it was a fine way to spend I agree with you.
- 12:17Speaker 4: I obviously Brooke and Will are very beautiful together. They
- 12:22Speaker 4: make a nice pair. I thought they had some very
- 12:25Speaker 4: nice banter and chemistry. I mean, these are two seasoned well,
- 12:30Speaker 4: she's definitely a seasoned actor. I know he's not super new.
- 12:34Speaker 3: To the game, but like, no, no, no, but very
- 12:37Speaker 3: good together. I do wish the story was better, I certainly.
- 12:43Speaker 3: I know we're in our liked category's spilling over. Well,
- 12:47Speaker 3: it is kind of muddy for me because like there's
- 12:50Speaker 3: parts of this movie that I found somewhat enjoyable and
- 12:54Speaker 3: then some that I just I had a hard time
- 12:57Speaker 3: like believing or getting into or if it's just the
- 13:00Speaker 3: royal genre that I don't really enjoy.
- 13:03Speaker 4: So yeah, I have a lot to say about that
- 13:05Speaker 4: for me. There were two scenes that stood out as
- 13:08Speaker 4: being non classically Hallmark. Can I share them? One was
- 13:13Speaker 4: they shared a moment I think it believe it was
- 13:16Speaker 4: like after some misunderstanding and she says I was falling
- 13:19Speaker 4: for you, and I was like, hallelujah. At least it's
- 13:21Speaker 4: not some bs I loved you, you know or whatever.
- 13:24Speaker 4: So I think I'm falling for you or I was
- 13:26Speaker 4: having feelings for you is a very appropriate feeling to have.
- 13:30Speaker 3: When you guys have just meant.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Secondly, at the end, when they were dancing at their
- 13:36Speaker 4: like the Royal Ball or whatever nonsense they're at, they
- 13:40Speaker 4: both say I'm sorry to each other, and I don't
- 13:43Speaker 4: feel like we get a lot of apologies in movies,
- 13:46Speaker 4: like we certainly don't get like I'm sorry I did
- 13:49Speaker 4: this to you or I'm sorry I did this to you.
- 13:51Speaker 3: I bumped on the appropriate feeling exchange as well. During
- 13:56Speaker 3: that final dance scene, when they talk about the fact
- 13:59Speaker 3: that she's going to stay on in Norden and get
- 14:02Speaker 3: her degree, they make a comment like, oh, we can
- 14:05Speaker 3: spend some more time together. It's not oh, which is
- 14:07Speaker 3: great because I love you. I love you. Let's get
- 14:09Speaker 3: married move into the castle. Yeah, it was very much like, oh,
- 14:12Speaker 3: we can get to know each other better now that
- 14:13Speaker 3: we're gonna live in the same place. Speaking of moving
- 14:16Speaker 3: into the castle, please correct me. I know at the
- 14:18Speaker 3: end spoiler if you haven't watched, they name him honorary. Yeah,
- 14:25Speaker 3: so what does that mean. It's unclear. Okay, we're just
- 14:29Speaker 3: gonna leave it at that, and I want to give
- 14:31Speaker 3: him a job description. I did think there were some
- 14:34Speaker 3: funny lines. I particularly liked when I want to call
- 14:37Speaker 3: him Fergus, but his name's Jens Jensen.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Yes.
- 14:40Speaker 3: When Jensen and Adam are in a bar, Yes, yes,
- 14:45Speaker 3: I have that in my note and he takes off
- 14:46Speaker 3: his glasses and try thought. He's like, what are you superman?
- 14:49Speaker 3: Oh that was so funny, really funny. I loved that line.
- 14:52Speaker 3: And will camp and glasses welcome to the Hallmark Honkson
- 14:57Speaker 3: Glasses Club, Yes, sir, for sure.
- 15:00Speaker 4: In that same scene, I really enjoyed Jensen, like when
- 15:04Speaker 4: Adam introduces Jensen to Charlotte and he says like, this
- 15:08Speaker 4: is my personal security guard or something like that, and
- 15:11Speaker 4: he did turn on the royal bit. I thought it
- 15:14Speaker 4: was quite charming and funny.
- 15:16Speaker 3: I did enjoy some of the traditions that were shared.
- 15:18Speaker 3: I'm not sure about all of them, but the rice
- 15:20Speaker 3: pudding game is definitely one that my Scandinavian family partakes
- 15:26Speaker 3: in each year, where you eat the rice pudding in
- 15:29Speaker 3: there's an almond in it and when you find the
- 15:30Speaker 3: almond you win a price. You win a Marzapan pig.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Yep.
- 15:36Speaker 3: I don't know these are and who is responsible for
- 15:38Speaker 3: the procuring of the mars and pan pig My mother
- 15:40Speaker 3: in law. So she brings it or she has it
- 15:43Speaker 3: at her house. She has a it's like as big
- 15:45Speaker 3: as my hand. It's not like a no, no, I understand,
- 15:47Speaker 3: loaf of bread.
- 15:49Speaker 4: Yes, And she also makes the rice pudding and then
- 15:52Speaker 4: she puts the almond.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Are you eating rice pudding on Christmas? Even waking up
- 15:55Speaker 3: with a stomachache on Christmas morning, I don't eat because
- 15:59Speaker 3: the first year I I had it, I had the
- 16:01Speaker 3: flu right after. And it's just one of those smell associations.
- 16:05Speaker 3: That's like me and baked chicken. My husband would bake
- 16:08Speaker 3: chicken when I had horrific morning sickness. I cannot baked chicken.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Can't do it. I feel bad.
- 16:16Speaker 4: I mean, it's been twenty five years and I'm like, sorry,
- 16:18Speaker 4: I'm not having that. I'll eat the twinkies I.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Brought, or dessert for myself. Whatever, you know, do you
- 16:25Speaker 3: bring twinkies for I'm just sure to think of something
- 16:28Speaker 3: that was the first thon who came to your mind?
- 16:29Speaker 3: I love it? Okay, bring a cake sometimes they ring
- 16:31Speaker 3: cupcake whatever. Anyway. Willkem did discuss several of these traditions
- 16:35Speaker 3: also on his Twitter. And these are real traditions. The nisse,
- 16:38Speaker 3: the hiding of the nomes is a genuine tradition, not
- 16:41Speaker 3: made up for this movie. And the kroum kaka is
- 16:44Speaker 3: a I assumed it meant crumb cake, yeah, but no,
- 16:47Speaker 3: it means curved cake. It's kind of like a like
- 16:50Speaker 3: a slim waffle, yeah, rolled into a cone. I wasn't
- 16:54Speaker 3: familiar with that. Let's talk wishes, okay, and you talk
- 16:57Speaker 3: about royal movies. Okay, go ahead. I think they need
- 17:01Speaker 3: to let it go. Oh and here's why. Part of
- 17:04Speaker 3: the appeal of the royals is the opulence. They don't
- 17:09Speaker 3: got the budget for opulence. Yeah, okay, it falls flat
- 17:12Speaker 3: for me. Also, we seem there's a constant case of
- 17:17Speaker 3: mistaken identity in these royal movies. It's happened over and over. Hello,
- 17:21Speaker 3: Netflix is the Christmas Prence series. That's the whole premise
- 17:24Speaker 3: of the first movie there as well. Stop it. I'm done.
- 17:28Speaker 3: I saw you were a fan of royal movies. No,
- 17:31Speaker 3: I always saw it that you were. No, I'm a
- 17:35Speaker 3: fan of actual royals. I'm not really a fan of
- 17:41Speaker 3: bobo royals. Okay, So you think Hallmarks should stop making
- 17:46Speaker 3: these movies that I think everybody should stop making these.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Oh everybody, we have princess diaries. It's been done to perfection.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Leave it alone. Okay, what other story are you gonna tell? What? Hey,
- 17:56Speaker 3: we don't need it.
- 17:57Speaker 4: So if they want to share a story that evokes opulence,
- 18:04Speaker 4: if you can do it, do it.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Well, but do it differently. Stop with the like. We've
- 18:09Speaker 3: getten it. We've gotten it a lot of times where
- 18:10Speaker 3: we have princes pretending to be like the commoner. I mean, yeah,
- 18:13Speaker 3: even coming to America is the same thing, right, like
- 18:17Speaker 3: always like either a prince pretending not to be a prince,
- 18:20Speaker 3: or someone pretending to be a prince, or someone pretending
- 18:22Speaker 3: to be oh whoop some of the nanny and all
- 18:24Speaker 3: of a sudden, Know, if you can take mistake and
- 18:26Speaker 3: identity out of it, and if you can make it
- 18:29Speaker 3: feel genuine like that tiny little dining room where they
- 18:33Speaker 3: had that dinner with the king. Yeah no, no, Well,
- 18:36Speaker 3: I'm curious what the listeners think here. I would agree
- 18:41Speaker 3: with you.
- 18:41Speaker 4: I don't like a royal movie. I don't have any
- 18:43Speaker 4: interest in it whatsoever. But I do think maybe fans
- 18:49Speaker 4: of Hallmark look forward to Royal movies because they are
- 18:54Speaker 4: fantasy for us and it feels wonderful and special and magical.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Yeah, if they could do it so that. Yeah, I
- 19:03Speaker 3: get it. I get what you're saying that it's not
- 19:04Speaker 3: being done well, so stop doing it. Yeah.
- 19:07Speaker 4: Yeah, this movie was not what I hoped for when
- 19:11Speaker 4: I remember reading the synopsis when all the movies were announced,
- 19:15Speaker 4: and I was like, this stood out to me because
- 19:18Speaker 4: I thought the family was going to hire some like goofball,
- 19:23Speaker 4: hapless dude to play this count, right, but instead we
- 19:29Speaker 4: get Will Camp as Adam, who's this like all around
- 19:32Speaker 4: great guy who.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Really cares about the town and the people. Of course,
- 19:37Speaker 3: like he's going to fit that role of the count.
- 19:41Speaker 4: I was like, in my mind just envisioning like some
- 19:45Speaker 4: real like dufius and they try to chip shape him
- 19:49Speaker 4: up into.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Like being an a count. Yeah. Even when you look
- 19:52Speaker 3: at the way Will carries himself, Will's a dancer. He
- 19:56Speaker 3: has a lot of grace about the way that he
- 19:58Speaker 3: molds himself from the core, the way he was sitting
- 20:01Speaker 3: at the piano even. Yeah, yeah, he's not Adam Sandler
- 20:05Speaker 3: stumbling into the Royal family accidentally wanted. Okay, that's what
- 20:09Speaker 3: I wanted. I wanted like showing like, you know, the
- 20:13Speaker 3: Maddie Finocchio perfect, No, we love madd Oh shade to Maddie,
- 20:19Speaker 3: but like, yes, that kind of character, physical comedy of
- 20:22Speaker 3: it all. Yes, exactly exactly. I like that a lot.
- 20:27Speaker 3: You know. What I wished is that somebody would have
- 20:29Speaker 3: recognized at him on the street and been like, Adam,
- 20:31Speaker 3: hey man, nice to see you. His mother is apparently
- 20:35Speaker 3: like the town baker that everybody knows and loves. Right,
- 20:37Speaker 3: he's the groundskeeper at this palace. Yes, he grew up there.
- 20:43Speaker 3: I mean, I know he's been gone, but you know
- 20:46Speaker 3: what these small towns are like. Yeah, and his mother
- 20:48Speaker 3: had photos of him. I'm sure all of the locals
- 20:51Speaker 3: are like, hey, Patty, when's Adam coming to town. I
- 20:53Speaker 3: know it's not her name, but it is fully unbelievable
- 20:58Speaker 3: to me that he could just be cruising around town
- 21:00Speaker 3: at all of these town events. Yes, and not a
- 21:03Speaker 3: single person other than Jensen knows who he is.
- 21:05Speaker 4: That is one of my wishes as well, that there
- 21:07Speaker 4: were these silly moments like that. Maybe the writers didn't
- 21:10Speaker 4: think through like, of course Adam's going to run into her.
- 21:14Speaker 4: They're in a small town. Maybe they should have put
- 21:17Speaker 4: him in hiding, Like I, that doesn't make any sense
- 21:20Speaker 4: to me. Wait till she's not there anymore, and then
- 21:22Speaker 4: he can go back and be with the common folk.
- 21:25Speaker 4: This is one of my wishes. This is the silly
- 21:27Speaker 4: moments that like I don't really enjoy. When they're in
- 21:31Speaker 4: the bar and he's trying to sneak away and he
- 21:35Speaker 4: runs into the server with the tray right makes this
- 21:39Speaker 4: big commotion, and then you see Charlotte like in the background,
- 21:43Speaker 4: like very invested, like what's happening? What's this big commotion
- 21:47Speaker 4: over there? And I felt like secondhand embarrassment because I
- 21:49Speaker 4: was like, I'm always the person like, don't stare, Like
- 21:52Speaker 4: if something were to happen in a restaurant, like if
- 21:54Speaker 4: somebody drops something, or I'd be like, don't stare, that's rude.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Let's just pretend it didn't happen. But here she is, like,
- 21:59Speaker 3: what's happening over there? Oh my god, what did you know?
- 22:02Speaker 3: It's Adam the Count. She's got her reporter pants on. Totally.
- 22:07Speaker 3: I just was like, this is all unbelievable to me.
- 22:11Speaker 3: You ready for to see that? Sure? I have a
- 22:13Speaker 3: few Okay at Rachel Reviews on Twitter pointed out that
- 22:16Speaker 3: Brooks dress is green in the movie but blue on
- 22:18Speaker 3: the post. That's my one of my notes. Did you
- 22:23Speaker 3: notice it yourself? I did notice it as.
- 22:26Speaker 4: I was putting my notes together and was looking on IMDb.
- 22:28Speaker 4: I was like, Oh, that's the dress she wore, but
- 22:30Speaker 4: on the poster it's blue.
- 22:32Speaker 3: And now if you look at the poster, the whole
- 22:34Speaker 3: color scheme of the poster leans more blue. Yep, they
- 22:38Speaker 3: could have changed that, Like his royal sash that he's
- 22:42Speaker 3: wearing is blue. It would have been much easier. They
- 22:44Speaker 3: needed Keith Costumes on the case because it would have
- 22:46Speaker 3: been much easier to make his sash have like a
- 22:49Speaker 3: hint of green to be complimentary of her dress, or
- 22:52Speaker 3: even just changing the background and giving it more green
- 22:56Speaker 3: tones would have made that green dress work. It's it's
- 22:59Speaker 3: an odd choice to me.
- 23:00Speaker 4: I agree, and I did notice actually in the scene
- 23:03Speaker 4: when she arrives at the ball, she's in the green
- 23:07Speaker 4: gown is stunning. The color of it is beautiful, and
- 23:10Speaker 4: it pops on screen because everything else is very like dark.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Yeah, so I mean it was a choice. But then
- 23:17Speaker 3: like they take this stunning green dress and then they
- 23:20Speaker 3: change it blue for the poster. A little one. When
- 23:23Speaker 3: Tony Terrible Tony is at the B and B. He's
- 23:26Speaker 3: talking about the able skimers, which I know I'm saying wrong.
- 23:29Speaker 4: Oh that's another thing we eat a lot of in
- 23:32Speaker 4: my Danish family too, able skeepers. You're seeing it, fine,
- 23:36Speaker 4: it was funny if you did, you have close caption.
- 23:37Speaker 3: That's what I'm going to tell you. The captions wrote eyeballs.
- 23:43Speaker 4: I noticed that too, And then she does say it.
- 23:46Speaker 4: She kind of corrects him. Yes, but even when she
- 23:49Speaker 4: said it, my husband, who was watching, goes last time
- 23:52Speaker 4: I say it, I mean, but like we're Americans and
- 23:55Speaker 4: we say able skimers, it's probably not the correct pronunciation of.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Close enough for me. I have a couple more, but
- 24:02Speaker 3: I don't want to steal all of your No, I
- 24:04Speaker 3: just have one more. Did the mom have an accent?
- 24:07Speaker 3: His mom at all? Like at the end? Oh, I
- 24:10Speaker 3: don't think so. I don't American. Well, I don't understand
- 24:13Speaker 3: why all these people have British accents if they're in Scandinavia.
- 24:18Speaker 3: My very good friend's husband is from Norway. They met
- 24:21Speaker 3: in Norway. He has an accent. His family has come
- 24:25Speaker 3: to visit, they have accents. They're not British.
- 24:28Speaker 4: No, it's very different than a British Yes, yes, for sure.
- 24:33Speaker 3: But I think this is those.
- 24:34Speaker 4: Things that I think Hallmark makes these movies and they're like,
- 24:37Speaker 4: let's just let that one slide, because so.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Like we just got to make them sound a little
- 24:41Speaker 3: bit European. Exactly two more. Did you see that there's
- 24:45Speaker 3: a moment where Charlotte is outside of a building and
- 24:48Speaker 3: she is talking to Kirsten, and every time Kirsten has
- 24:52Speaker 3: like an actual physical building behind her, and when they
- 24:54Speaker 3: turn to Charlotte, she's got this horrific green screen behind
- 24:59Speaker 3: their ble. This is where the budget comes into play.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Because they're in Ontario, they're not in Scandinavia. They need
- 25:04Speaker 3: to make these like kind of bland Canadian buildings. I'm
- 25:09Speaker 3: sure they're beautiful, but they're not given Scandinavia. Yeah, and
- 25:12Speaker 3: it was a video green screen. I don't know if
- 25:14Speaker 3: you noticed, because there was like some movement that people
- 25:16Speaker 3: like walking in the background. It was not great. And
- 25:19Speaker 3: speaking of not great, the view outside of the office
- 25:22Speaker 3: in the very beginning, where Charlotte is talking to a coworker. Y'all,
- 25:26Speaker 3: we're gonna share it on our Instagram story. Please go
- 25:29Speaker 3: there because it is a black and white image that
- 25:35Speaker 3: looks like it's about two hundred years old. Sleep Kinti
- 25:38Speaker 3: Paus said, do I spy all over twist like that
- 25:41Speaker 3: is what it looks like. It's black and white. Yeah,
- 25:44Speaker 3: that's horrible. It's horrible. They're like, we have time for
- 25:47Speaker 3: you to find exactly one photo. The first one you find,
- 25:49Speaker 3: that's what we have the budget for. Throw it in that.
- 25:52Speaker 3: I don't know who was in charge, but woof, well, yeah,
- 25:56Speaker 3: what did you rate this movie? I have it two
- 25:57Speaker 3: stars exactly the same. Oh oh wow. You and I
- 26:01Speaker 3: haven't been fully on the same page on a lot
- 26:04Speaker 3: of these movies, so I'm surprised by your score. I
- 26:07Speaker 3: thought you were gonna be like three to half stars.
- 26:09Speaker 3: It's rough. It's rough placement because we've had so many hits.
- 26:13Speaker 3: It's rough placement for this.
- 26:15Speaker 4: I feel like Will camp Brook to yours say they
- 26:20Speaker 4: deserve a better movie.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:22Speaker 3: I think this was a missed up on Hallmark's part, unfortunately.
- 26:26Speaker 3: And sometimes I think they take these big stars and
- 26:29Speaker 3: they're like, this is gonna make the movie, but they
- 26:31Speaker 3: can only do so much with the material. They're given.
- 26:34Speaker 3: I thought they did great with what they had. Yeah. Hey,
- 26:36Speaker 3: thank you for listening to this episode of Girls Gone Hallmark.
