- 4:14We're broadcasting live for the last sailing of the ship.
- 4:18The, the, the Season 5 ship is sailing for the Random Heathen
- 4:22Ramblings podcast, which means that we are now out of harbour
- 4:26and full steam ahead. You know, we, we, we, we're
- 4:30rocking on and, and, and just going full steam ahead into into
- 4:35preparations of of season 6, but of course, not without first
- 4:39recapping a bit on season 5. So without further ado, I'm
- 4:44going to welcome in my guest and long time friend and brother
- 4:49who's going to be joining me for a little bit.
- 4:51I'm not sure how long, but he's going to be joining me for our
- 4:54season 5 finale. It's a bit of a tradition.
- 4:58And here we go, It's Patrick Walsh.
- 5:01Welcome to the show, Patrick. Hey, welcome, Jesse.
- 5:05Thank you very much for the invitation.
- 5:08I'm always happy to be part of your own live streams and a
- 5:11participant of Mickart Musings. Yeah, man, and thank you for
- 5:15being here. Looking good, looking frosty, as
- 5:18you say. Why?
- 5:19Thank you guys. Just trying to figure out the
- 5:22camera angle here, it's a little wonky at the moment.
- 5:25Yeah, no, you're looking good, man.
- 5:27How you been? How you holding up?
- 5:30That's a really great question. Thank you for asking.
- 5:34It's been a rough time, very rough time indeed, but but that
- 5:39sound very happy to have the support from you, my tribe, my
- 5:43friends, my family. And that in a way, those dark
- 5:47times really make those special people special memories that
- 5:52much more beautiful. So I'm doing pretty good this
- 5:55evening. Thank.
- 5:56Thank you again for asking. How are you doing, Jesse?
- 5:59Man, I'm holding on, man, I'm holding on by the skin of my
- 6:01teeth sometimes, but I'm holding on.
- 6:03We got we got Matthew Serra, who says Patty Dubs.
- 6:06Yeah, Matthew Serra giving us the the what's up, what's up?
- 6:13Lot of good, lot of good people out here in the comments
- 6:16checking in and saying hi and and hello.
- 6:18So I definitely appreciate all of that love Patrick, man, you
- 6:23know, you, you've been watching this stuff that I do for since
- 6:30before the podcast really was even a podcast.
- 6:33You know, I was doing videos on YouTube and, and, and, you know,
- 6:41sharing stuff on, on, on that platform and, and now who we
- 6:44are. Yeah, six years, man, It's, it's
- 6:47been 6 years, 6. I'm going on six seasons And,
- 6:52and you've been you've been joining me on on several
- 6:54episodes, a lot of season finale.
- 6:57You were definitely on the last season finale for season 4.
- 7:01I was I was going through and looking at some old images and
- 7:04graphics and things and, and, and you were there.
- 7:07So Scal that works says Hey, Pat Scal that works.
- 7:09This is a guy who's from the Huntsville, AL area and met him
- 7:15in person a couple of times. Actually, the first time he and
- 7:17I met in person was at a IS at a high lung ritual.
- 7:22Oh, is that your first one? Right, your first and.
- 7:24Only correct. OK, I thought my my my first.
- 7:27Yeah, I think maybe maybe it was his first too.
- 7:29But it was definitely my first, my first and only, you know,
- 7:33thus far. But but, but scalded works has
- 7:36has made his presence unknown in a more recent event at the Raven
- 7:44Moon Hearth Shadowmoot event last this this this past
- 7:49October. So he came up from the
- 7:51Huntsville, AL area and brought his tackle, harp and drums and
- 7:55made a whole bunch of racket in a good way.
- 7:58They made a bunch of good heathen racket, you know, with
- 8:01with with his instruments and stuff.
- 8:03So he's he's good people. And and yeah, so a lot of good
- 8:08familiar faces for everybody that's, you know, just tuning
- 8:12in, watching this wherever you're watching this from.
- 8:13Thank you again. This is this is the fifth season
- 8:18of the random heathen ramblers podcast, which if you're
- 8:19watching this live, you know, we we do these live streams once a
- 8:23month for one of those weeks episodes.
- 8:27So I know some people will be catching this later on after
- 8:31it's broadcasted live. But if you do want to catch me
- 8:34live, it is a once a month sort of thing.
- 8:37I usually do it around the 3rd or 4th week, usually on Monday
- 8:42nights because that's when I record the episodes.
- 8:45But if you don't catch a live stream and you want to continue
- 8:48to watch the video broadcasts there, there is a way that you
- 8:52can do that. The the these full length
- 8:53features of, of the video podcast are available on my
- 8:56Patreon. It's just a $1.00 pledge to
- 9:00become a patron on my Patreon to catch the full length video
- 9:02features. So I have different tiers
- 9:05available if you want to pledge more, there's different things,
- 9:08you know, that you get, but at the very least, pledging a
- 9:11dollar gets you video access. So you, you know, you get, you
- 9:14get 3 to 4 episodes a month in video format.
- 9:18You get your name added to the end screen credits on my
- 9:21graphics at the end screen. So you get, you know, you're in
- 9:23the, you're in the end screen credits as a, as a, as a Patreon
- 9:25supporter. But as you go up higher in the
- 9:28tiers, you know, you get different perks and, and
- 9:30whatnot. But so if you are interested,
- 9:33for those of you that are watching this live stream now
- 9:35and you want to become a, a supporter of, of the podcast,
- 9:38that $1.00 pledge definitely goes a long way.
- 9:42And it will help go a long way in something that I have an
- 9:46opportunity on participating in later next year, which I'll be
- 9:51talking a little bit throughout this podcast.
- 9:53So go to patreon.com/midgard Musings or just Google search
- 9:58Midgard Musings Patreon. You'll find it.
- 10:01It's there and consider becoming a supporter in that way if you
- 10:05soak shoes and if it makes you you know, if it if it if it
- 10:09tickles your your pickle there. So yeah, scaldic works.
- 10:13That was his first as well his first high lung ritual.
- 10:16Awesome. So we both had our cherries
- 10:18popped on that night. Hello Joshua bright spirit.
- 10:22My brother says Congrats on another successful season.
- 10:25Many more to come. I appreciate that brother and I
- 10:28and I do, we just want to say, you know, that, that one of the,
- 10:35one of the people who has been an instrumental part in, in
- 10:38inspiring me to, to keep this whole shindig going.
- 10:41You know, Patrick is here. He's, he's an instrumental
- 10:44influence for me to want to keep this whole thing going.
- 10:47Joshua bright spirit, you as well, brother, have been really
- 10:50helpful for me in my, my life over the last five to six
- 10:53seasons, you know, 5-6 years of life, you know, just to, just to
- 10:58really help inspire me and keep and keep things going.
- 11:01Because I'll be honest, you know, there's, there's been
- 11:04plenty of times where I feel just, I'm done.
- 11:07You know, I've, I'm, I've had challenges and, and, and turmoil
- 11:11and stuff pop up where I'm like, you know, the heck with it all
- 11:14and I'm, I'm done with it. But these two guys here, you
- 11:17know, Joshua the bright spirit and then Patrick Walsh, you
- 11:19know, you guys have been a huge reason why everybody else that's
- 11:25watching this and listening and whatever, how you're capturing
- 11:28all this stuff. You know, these two guys have
- 11:30been a very influential part as to why we're still here, so
- 11:34thank you. Well, thank you, Jesse, and I'm
- 11:38very happy to share with anyone watching that I got to got to
- 11:41know Joshua Price spirit in person and via online from the
- 11:45get go. And he's a wonderful man.
- 11:48And like you, Jesse, he's helped me tremendously through many
- 11:52stages of my life, be a good, bad and in between.
- 11:55And that's something I think we all share from personal
- 11:59experiences and collectively. And that really, you know, says
- 12:03testament to what we've established together.
- 12:05And, you know, yeah, it's a very beautiful thing.
- 12:10Yeah, yeah, I think, you know, one of the beautiful things
- 12:13about our relationship is that and thank you, Bradley, also
- 12:17Bradley boss for for commenting said Hey guys.
- 12:21Yeah, Scarlet work's been there, done that.
- 12:23Absolutely. Yeah, one of the beautiful
- 12:25things about, you know, Patrick's and my friendship,
- 12:29which has become a kinship, as you know, it's, it's, it's, it's
- 12:34been a journey. It, it's, you know, we each are
- 12:37going on our own separate journeys, but some of the
- 12:40journey has been shared in different ways.
- 12:42And in that shared journey, bright spirit has, has been
- 12:48involved as well. You know, so we have this shared
- 12:53life, the shared experience while each, while each of us are
- 12:57tying our own in, you know, threads of weird and we're
- 13:00we're, we're, we're, we're doing our own things and we're keeping
- 13:04our own homes and hearths as we are, you know, in that endeavor.
- 13:12And through that process, we are also interweaving.
- 13:17You know, our threads are interweaving.
- 13:19And I think that's a beautiful, I think it's a beautiful thing.
- 13:23Absolutely. Yeah, Wild Heathen Wolfpack says
- 13:29spiritual burnout is real and often gets overlooked, hence why
- 13:34community is important, especially in our way of life.
- 13:41That's a very good observation, Wild Heathen Wolfpack and I
- 13:44think Patrick has a very keen and in tune experience and
- 13:50observation that because you, you Patrick, you yourself have
- 13:53also helped with forming a community of sorts, right in
- 13:59your own way. Do you want to talk a little bit
- 14:00about that for for folks that are here?
- 14:02Absolutely. Thank you.
- 14:03I appreciate the opportunity. And yeah, I completely
- 14:05understand the the stages of burnout.
- 14:08It could be very vicious and downright ugly.
- 14:12But also it's very important to step back from that potential
- 14:17burn off phase and look to where you've gotten this far and how
- 14:20you've gotten this far. And yeah, a little bit about
- 14:24myself. I'm an avid high lung follower
- 14:28and supporter and high lung marks a very and continued
- 14:33important chapter of my life and really changed it and very
- 14:38wonderful ways. I got to meet some very special
- 14:40people. I got to spend time with them a
- 14:43few times. And after my first time is, it's
- 14:48a long story, I want to dive into it just yet, maybe later
- 14:51on. But when I came home after
- 14:54hanging out the my first time back in 2022 in Chicago, I was
- 14:59on my Amtrak train back home and I thought to myself, I'm like,
- 15:03well, what can I do to again, going back to the story is what
- 15:07can I do to solidify this? So anyways, I'm just going to
- 15:10dive into it cause a lot of people might be wondering.
- 15:13So when I was hanging out with Heideling my first time, one of
- 15:17the members goes, oh, he owns botching for me.
- 15:20He goes, Oh, Patrick, you know, he's a, he's a creator or admin
- 15:25of a certain Highland group, A highland spiritual community.
- 15:28And he kept saying this, I'm like, hey, I have to pull him up
- 15:31to the side. Like, hey, the person I
- 15:33mentioned, I'm like, I'm not a creator.
- 15:36I'm just an avid follower. I'm just here to support you
- 15:40guys. But then I kept thinking about
- 15:42that and he told me a response that goes, oh, that's OK, that's
- 15:45OK. I'm like, cool, kick ass.
- 15:47But again, on my train ride back home, my fall, he mentioned
- 15:52being an admin of a group. So I'm like, well, let's do
- 15:56something with that. Let's really nickname for
- 15:58myself. And it, it's helping greatly and
- 16:01reaching out to the community that I've created.
- 16:04And it's the Hammock Spiritual Support group.
- 16:07It ranges anywhere from, you know, just spiritual matters,
- 16:12personal matters, within reason. And I tell all my people in my
- 16:16group that none of us are licensed practitioners in the
- 16:19mental health field by any means.
- 16:21But having a group, a safe space, if you will, to just
- 16:25really be yourself within reason, of course, because it's
- 16:28the Internet, you know, we have to respect other people's
- 16:31situations and privacies. But with that said though, I am
- 16:36very happy to amass the following that I have, but more
- 16:38importantly reached the few people that I have and really
- 16:42help them in their development and just be there as a someone
- 16:46to talk to or just some places to be yourself and sure
- 16:49yourself. Well, you mentioned something
- 16:52few and I do just want to say like while while you might be
- 16:56modest, it's 2.6000 members you. Know that is correct, yes.
- 17:02With that said though, again just a general just of the group
- 17:07is I'll make a post on occasion and we have like so many members
- 17:11and grand total for the most part we get maybe 100 or so 3
- 17:16actions. But again, I'm not taking it
- 17:18personally as it I'm. Sure.
- 17:19Yeah, that's just, yeah, that's just social media, you know, and
- 17:23I did, I did share. So for, you know, if you guys
- 17:27are watching on YouTube or Facebook, wherever.
- 17:29I mean, the link to Patrick's group is in the comments here.
- 17:32I've linked it. There are some, you know, just
- 17:36membership questions, right, to make sure that you're not a bot
- 17:39or scammer, crazy thing or scammer, right?
- 17:43But yeah, send the request and there there's the link.
- 17:46So it's, it is a Facebook group. Obviously if you're not on
- 17:48Facebook, then you know, but for those of you that are and, and
- 17:53want to connect in in this sort of way, like, like Patrick said,
- 17:56there's a lot of different stuff that gets posted there with,
- 18:00with the attention put on mental spiritual health, not just
- 18:04highland, but highland being a very focused aspect.
- 18:08Of the focal point, yeah, it's the foundation of what created
- 18:11everything to make it so this is well as my path where I'm at
- 18:15today. Yeah, Got a question or a
- 18:19comment rather from Voodoo Viking on YouTube who says what
- 18:23happens if you can't find community?
- 18:26We're we're talking about community and in the real sense,
- 18:30right in the kind of the grass roots, boots on the ground more
- 18:34than just online sense. You know what happens if you
- 18:37can't find community? That's a really great question.
- 18:41I love that. Yeah, so I mean, Patrick, you
- 18:45know, you and I have known each other for again, going on, you
- 18:49know, six years almost since the beginning of, of my channel and,
- 18:55and, and posting content. And I, I, I feel like I want to
- 19:01ask you like, did you have a sense of community or do you
- 19:04have a sense of community in your area to connect to like in
- 19:09grassroots level? And, and how has that presence
- 19:14or, or absence of the presence impacted you?
- 19:19Like what happens if, like a voodoo Viking says, if you can't
- 19:22find community? I really can't express enough
- 19:26how I love how much I love that question because me from the
- 19:29greater part of my life, even now I'm a solar practitioner.
- 19:33Now saying solar practitioner, it doesn't mean you can't be
- 19:36part of community again. Ever since I joined the Heimlich
- 19:41spiritual community is when the doors were open and 95 or more
- 19:47percent people that I talked to support and support me at the
- 19:54very least live outside of my state.
- 19:58That can range anywhere from Indiana, Tennessee, North
- 20:03Carolina, I mean all over the world and far reaching to
- 20:07Norway, you know, all over the place.
- 20:12So Australia, I think you've got some people in Australia like
- 20:15clear across and other stuff, yeah.
- 20:17It's crazy. But so going back to that
- 20:19question though, is though you may not have a community in
- 20:23person because I'll trace back to your question in my area, but
- 20:30is this you make your own community and at the very least
- 20:34you can set up some kind of arrangement to do like a video
- 20:37call or something like that. It's the sky is limitless.
- 20:42The potentials are limitless. So with my area, though, to go
- 20:46back to that, I don't have or I'm not familiar with any Pagan
- 20:50or heathen groups near my area. And I will say I don't haven't
- 20:55sought any out because I'm too content and satisfied with the
- 20:59people that I see me have in my life.
- 21:04But yeah, the, the potentials range wildly.
- 21:06I mean, you could create your own community.
- 21:08It's again, it's unfair to compare them.
- 21:10I like to say that a lot because, you know, you see
- 21:12people like, you know, Jesse, you, you have people very much
- 21:17near your neck of the woods. We can make, you know, moots and
- 21:20you know, special holidays and celebrations possible.
- 21:23Not all people have that luxury, but again, everyone learns and
- 21:28practices in their own special and individual ways.
- 21:32So again, you know, it's it's easy to fall into that feeling.
- 21:36I'm like, well, I don't have a community.
- 21:37You do, You're part of this live stream.
- 21:40You're part of this community and make our musings.
- 21:43You have a community. Yeah, this is, this is a, this
- 21:46is a version of community. I mean, it definitely falls
- 21:48under that description. But not to the sense of, you
- 21:51know, practicing, you know, like, you know, lots or
- 21:55Sabbaths. But yeah.
- 21:56Right, Yeah, Bright spirit mentioned something here on
- 21:59Facebook that music has always been such an incredible
- 22:02connection of people. And this is this is something I
- 22:08think that's worth, you know, mentioning and and recognizing
- 22:12also that the the the, the rhythm of the earth, the the
- 22:16heartbeat of the earth, the earth that we all share and a
- 22:19coexistence on, you know, we, we, we live here.
- 22:22We are part of her Mother Earth, Mother yards, whatever name you
- 22:26want to place to this great, you know, landmass that we are
- 22:35living on. And in different places of the
- 22:37world, there is a universal heartbeat that resonates.
- 22:41And music is a universal language that can connect us
- 22:45because while we may not understand spoken languages
- 22:48because of dialects and because of, you know, again, you know,
- 22:53you may not be versed in French or German or Spanish or or
- 22:56Latvian or Norwegian or any other other language of the
- 23:01world. Music, the rhythm, the beat is
- 23:07this sort of unspoken universal language that unites all of us.
- 23:13And that's one of the beauties of connecting with people that
- 23:17that speak that language, right. Musicians, especially that that
- 23:20can come and and share their craft, share their their skill
- 23:25with the world because it connects people beyond just what
- 23:30is is in front of us at some sometimes.
- 23:33And I like what you said, Patrick, is that, you know, you
- 23:35can, there is a community, if I can acknowledge this and says
- 23:41thank you, you know, and, and there is community, it's one of
- 23:45the other there. There's another content creator
- 23:50who I've been following for years.
- 23:54There is an air of controversy around this person.
- 23:57I'm not going to get into that. But Ocean Keltoi on on YouTube,
- 24:01if you, if you know the name Ocean Keltoi, if you've been
- 24:05following their content, his content for any length of time,
- 24:07you know, one of his famous phrases or infamous phrases is a
- 24:11find a way or make one. And to your point, Patrick,
- 24:16right, like you either find a community or you make a
- 24:18community. All right, So you, you build
- 24:21something from something you know, you build, you build
- 24:24something from from what you want to to attract.
- 24:27And I've said many times is, you know, be the thing that you want
- 24:32to attract. Don't don't necessarily go into
- 24:36it with the idea or with the notion that you want to attract
- 24:40anybody. Just just be an example of what
- 24:43you think is is good. And then the right people will
- 24:45come to you, you know, like that, you know, kind recognizes,
- 24:48kind fire, Kindles fire. Like there's iron sharpens iron.
- 24:54Like there's various, either, you know, like cannings or, or,
- 24:59or things that you can use to, to describe what I'm saying.
- 25:04But yeah, community is out there.
- 25:06And, and to what degree your community is, is like you say,
- 25:10it's, it's limited only to your capabilities of reaching it.
- 25:13You know, you want to get out there and do boots on the ground
- 25:15meetups and, and, and establish something in your area.
- 25:18I know plenty of people in Missouri that are doing stuff
- 25:21like this. Now.
- 25:21Missouri is a big area, don't get me wrong, just because
- 25:23Missouri is, you know, just because you're in Missouri and,
- 25:27and other people in Missouri, you know, like you, you could be
- 25:294 1/2 five hours away and still be in the same state, easily
- 25:34same, the same, same as Tennessee, you know what I mean?
- 25:36Same as Tennessee. But the fact is that there's
- 25:39people out there that are doing things and if and if they're not
- 25:42within a close enough proximity to your area, then what's
- 25:45stopping you from doing that thing in your area, you know?
- 25:50Exactly. And then scald it works makes a
- 25:54very good point, right? It's it's unwise force
- 25:58community. It's organic enough out here
- 26:02folks like it's organic enough to nurture the organic nature of
- 26:11it. You know, if you're forcing it
- 26:13to happen, then it's, it's almost like trying to grow
- 26:17oranges in Appalachia. All right?
- 26:20If you're forcing it, it ain't going to work, man.
- 26:22It ain't going to work. It ain't going to take, it might
- 26:24last a season or two because of, of ideal quote UN quote ideal
- 26:28conditions. But guess what?
- 26:30Oranges don't grow in Appalachia organically.
- 26:33If you're forcing it to happen, if you're trying to force
- 26:36something to happen, it's not going to, it's not going to take
- 26:41root. It's not going to flourish.
- 26:46So yeah, be be be more or you know, be more attuned or in tune
- 26:50with the, the organic aspect of growth and feed it, feed the
- 26:55growth. Don't try to force it, you know.
- 26:59And that kind of, I'd like to take this opportunity to also go
- 27:01back to, you know, again, the Highland spiritual community.
- 27:04Yes, when I first joined them, I never sought out, you know,
- 27:08making my own community. It happened the way it happened.
- 27:13And especially with, you know, many people on the Internet,
- 27:16there's always that risk of me meeting unsavory individuals who
- 27:20don't have their best interests in mind.
- 27:22Again, these are perfect strangers I'm referring to, not
- 27:24a friends. But all the same though, you
- 27:27know, I never expected to get to this point in my life with this
- 27:34community and my community and my brother or sister community,
- 27:38the Highline U.S. group. You know, it's this, it's
- 27:41natural, it's organic. None of us sought each other
- 27:45out. We just met each other.
- 27:47We just created the following with any special people or
- 27:50persons I met this year, the last year or the last few years
- 27:55again, me and you, Jesse, Like when I sought you out, I didn't
- 27:59seek, I didn't seek you out again, going back to the the
- 28:03foundation of me and you. I was looking on YouTube, late
- 28:082020, how to perform a basic heathen ritual.
- 28:12I'm like, all right, this. I scroll through a few people.
- 28:14I took a peek here and there videos and I saw you.
- 28:17I'm like, all right, let's check them out.
- 28:19Click all right and listen to you And this, you know, despite
- 28:24the quality of your video back then, I think.
- 28:29Twice of it I'm. Like I'm like, I like this guy,
- 28:31fucking love him. He's just genuine.
- 28:34He's not trapped like sales pitch like, oh, be sure to check
- 28:38out my merch and you know, sales pitch, sales pitch, sales pitch
- 28:43just like money, money, money, money, money or follow.
- 28:45I want your likes what your loves like, you know, you did so
- 28:49modestly. I mean, I didn't, I don't
- 28:51remember anything like that, but just, you know.
- 28:54It's out there. You just go down the go down the
- 28:56rabbit hole. I've I've plugged enough of my
- 28:58shit because you know, what do you do when you're creating
- 29:01content? You, you got there, you got the.
- 29:03Right, hat in the rain. You got the right hat in the
- 29:05rain now. Yeah.
- 29:06But just all the same though, out of all the videos and people
- 29:09I saw that night, you know, it's funny 'cause going back to that
- 29:13story is followed you on YouTube, YouTube, YouTube.
- 29:17And then we have a mutual friend, Matthew Petrie.
- 29:22And then finally we became friends on Facebook.
- 29:25And then Fast forward, visit you 2021, No 2022 I believe it was.
- 29:33I have to look back, but I think it was, I think it was 2021.
- 29:37I think it was 2021. I think it's 2022 because that's
- 29:41after the first High Highland. OK, yeah, yeah, it might have
- 29:46been 'cause I know there was still like this, this global
- 29:49awareness of a pandemic and, you know, you traveled and then, you
- 29:53know, and all that. But yeah, I feel like 20.
- 29:55So you came out to but but yeah, because 2022 you came and
- 30:03visited me. Yeah, 2023.
- 30:06No Fire Mountain. Fire on the mountain number one,
- 30:08and this year fire on mountain #2 so that tracks.
- 30:11Yep, yeah, that's it. Yep.
- 30:14Wow, this is crazy. Thinking about it though, I
- 30:17mean, before we have met in person that we just, you know,
- 30:21go on conversating on Messenger and just, you know, having great
- 30:25conversations. And again, even before we've met
- 30:29each other in person, we created various special memories.
- 30:33Yeah, that's where it started, right?
- 30:34It started on this online thing and now like Voodoo Viking on
- 30:37YouTube is saying, Eric, there's no offense meant in any way, but
- 30:42it's like loving. If all you get is online, then
- 30:48it's just pornography. I think I get the sentiment
- 30:51because it's superficial. If if all you're doing is
- 30:55obtaining gratification satisfaction from online
- 31:01interactions, then there's there's nothing there to satisfy
- 31:05the the in person need or desire to connect with a person.
- 31:11That was a very good point. It's very platonic like it's,
- 31:13it's, it's super, it's superficial and it doesn't
- 31:16satisfy that, that inner need because let's face it, us as
- 31:20human beings, we are social creatures.
- 31:23We, you know, we, we, we, we crave social connections.
- 31:30And yeah, if, if all you're getting is this, you know, I can
- 31:34be whoever I want to be because I'm online and you're not seeing
- 31:38me for who I really am. Like anybody can put a persona
- 31:42absolutely online. All right.
- 31:46So, yeah, I don't, I don't take offense to that.
- 31:47And I understand like that's that's a real thing.
- 31:49You know you you can, you can be anybody to these.
- 31:54People, yeah, it's much more me for a person because I've told
- 31:57Jesse several I've lost how many times I've told you Jesse
- 32:02several nights, mornings, afternoons like hey man, I
- 32:06really wish I was there right now and they just, you know,
- 32:10convenience, you know, can't have that, but I.
- 32:13Six hours away, Yeah, Like, Oh yeah, I'm just get in the car
- 32:16and drive up there. Exactly.
- 32:18But you know, you're not the only person that met to travel a
- 32:22long distance with and each person I meet travel far from.
- 32:26It's very meaningful because not only are you taking your own
- 32:30time, but your own energy, your money, your interest, your love.
- 32:36I mean, again, they can go both ways, you know?
- 32:40Well, you should go both ways, you know.
- 32:42Now for me, fortunately, everyone I've ever came to
- 32:46visit, you know, make the trip to go see them, it's always
- 32:49worked out very, very well and very, very happy for it.
- 32:52You know, one person, example, Cliff, he lives in Terre Haute,
- 32:56IN. And yeah, I visited him quite a
- 33:00few times and he's got, I'll never forget the first time I
- 33:04met him in person. It felt uncannyly natural, like
- 33:11I just showed up at his front door.
- 33:12I would have walked in, but I'm like, no, not going to be that
- 33:15guy. But this is very beautiful
- 33:18though. Very beautiful.
- 33:21It is, man. And like you say, you know, it
- 33:23goes, it does go both ways. At least it should.
- 33:26Skulletworks says there's, there's a large local community
- 33:29of heathens here in in the area of Alabama that they're in, but
- 33:33they all gather in one place and don't want, don't seem to want
- 33:37to branch out into their own smaller tribes.
- 33:44I feel, I don't know that that's an interesting comment.
- 33:46I feel like it's a little bit backwards.
- 33:48I feel like you should focus on your smaller groups first before
- 33:51branching out outwards. Or maybe there's this whole
- 33:54thing where I need to find my community first before finding
- 33:57that smaller, insular, you know, group of people.
- 34:02I get that too 'cause you how how you going to find your tribe
- 34:06unless you connect with your community first, 'cause the
- 34:10tribe exists in the community. You know that those smaller kind
- 34:13of branches of a family exist in that community and the community
- 34:20could consist of multiple extensions of various clans or
- 34:26families or hearths or, you know, whatever name you want to
- 34:29put to it. As Cowboy on YouTube says that
- 34:36my community is just me, perhaps another solitary or isolated
- 34:41practitioner, but I always invite friends and to come and
- 34:47learn. But if you're always looking for
- 34:50a community, you'll drive yourself crazy.
- 34:53That's why I always do my own thing.
- 34:57I respect that immensely. I hope it about me saying this
- 35:00ahead of you, but just that's exactly right.
- 35:04Your community, in my opinion, starts with you, with us, like
- 35:09us as a person. Because how do you expect to
- 35:12grow any further from that and love yourself?
- 35:16Like any relationship, you have to love yourself, appreciate
- 35:20yourself and where you find yourself in your early days.
- 35:24Now in the future, you're going to have the proper foundation
- 35:30'cause you got to find the right people who will be there with
- 35:33you through thick and thin. Now, with that said though,
- 35:36there's going to be messed up times and disagreements and
- 35:41setbacks cause we've all been there.
- 35:44But yeah, as a solar practitioner myself, again,
- 35:47ideally in a perfect world, I'd live, you know, anywhere near my
- 35:51special people, but that's not the case.
- 35:54But at the same time, I'm grateful for that solar
- 35:57practitioner 'cause I can go to a tribe or a certain group of
- 36:03friends and make special memories.
- 36:05But yeah. Yeah, I get that.
- 36:10I mean, I've, I've shared something recently that in I see
- 36:16so much and I'm, I'm witness to so much, whether it's local or
- 36:20on a broader scale. And I go, man, you know,
- 36:23there's, there's too many people building up walls when they
- 36:28should be expanding their tables and lengthening their tables.
- 36:33There's this, like there's this just seemingly overarching habit
- 36:40of creating barriers between groups and, and barriers between
- 36:47individuals of groups even. And it's like, well, why?
- 36:50Why? Because somebody said something
- 36:51that you didn't like. How about you get, how about
- 36:53you, How about you get down to the nitty gritty of things and,
- 36:56and show up and be and be reasonable, right?
- 37:00And talk to people and be like, look, just because I don't
- 37:02necessarily agree with you doesn't mean that we're at odds
- 37:05with one another. A tribe doesn't have to agree
- 37:08with another tribe's way of doing things to be allies.
- 37:12They can, they can be amicable. And, and this is, this is the,
- 37:15this is what I personally believe Heathenry exists and
- 37:22thrives and is, is, is sovereignty of tribe and
- 37:26sovereignty of hearth is that, you know, every hearth within a
- 37:29tribe is, is sovereign. They should be able to conduct
- 37:32and do their own things respectively to their own ways
- 37:35of doing things. And then when those harsh homes,
- 37:39clans, families meet together as the tribe and do things of the
- 37:43tribe, there is a sovereignty of the tribal Thu, the tribal
- 37:46custom, the tribal way of doing things.
- 37:49And then that tribal way of doing things is not necessarily
- 37:53the overarching authority on all heathen way of doing things.
- 37:58It's just their way of doing things.
- 37:59It's, you know, every group is sovereign just as every hearth
- 38:05is sovereign. So they do their own things
- 38:07under the serenity of their own secular group.
- 38:11But as a tribe, as a collective, they should be able to meet
- 38:14together and do things collectively that that are
- 38:17amicably well doing and when well-being that are good for
- 38:22that tribe. Now, that doesn't mean that that
- 38:24tribe's way of doing things is the way that every other tribe
- 38:27in the area is doing things. But again, there's this
- 38:31amicability, there's this, there's this at least I feel
- 38:34like there should be this, this understanding, like, hey, we, we
- 38:36are on we're on the same team here, right?
- 38:39We, we, we may not necessarily agree or do everything and I'll
- 38:42just use for an example, right? Historical heathen practices,
- 38:48old ways, altitude, foreign Caesar, old ways, pre Christian
- 38:52Heathenry doing everything by the Luna solar calendar, you
- 38:55know, blah, blah, blah versus new ways Heathenry.
- 38:58Like we don't need to be at odds with one another if you're doing
- 39:02your own thing in this group and they're doing their own things
- 39:04in this group. But we, you know, we're not
- 39:08enemies. We we're, we're, we're
- 39:09venerating the same gods or goddesses.
- 39:12And you know what I mean? We have our own ways of, of
- 39:14seeing things and doing things, but we're not enemies to one
- 39:17another. So why, why, why this?
- 39:19You know, and a separation? When they're.
- 39:23Separation, you know it's. It's like open a mind me but.
- 39:27And I'll catch up to some comments too here, everybody
- 39:29just for you guys watching we're we're we're talking.
- 39:31So Patrick, you go ahead and look at some.
- 39:33Comments. I appreciate you guys let me
- 39:34intervene here, but Yule is my favorite example this time of
- 39:40year. This time of year, here we are
- 39:42perfect example, go ahead so. Me and you, Jesse.
- 39:45Let me go back to my earlier days.
- 39:47Before I met you, I used to celebrate Yule in December
- 39:51through the 12 nights of Yule again.
- 39:53Me too. Celebrate that?
- 39:54Hell yeah, that's awesome that I respect that immensely.
- 39:59But then upon my dedication, for all personal reasons, I'll just
- 40:03say that personal reasons, I'm like, you know what?
- 40:05I'd rather do it by such and such reference.
- 40:09You know, I have people in my group who celebrate you all
- 40:13around winter solstice. The whole time that I try to
- 40:17crack them, I'm like, no, I'm like, hey, that's cool, I'll be
- 40:20celebrating it this time, whatever.
- 40:22But. We're still friends, we're still
- 40:25fond with each other, we still support each other.
- 40:27That's fine. It could be, especially with our
- 40:30practice and our path, it could be very tumultuous.
- 40:33We already have enough bullshit, frankly speaking, to deal with,
- 40:40you know, like racism, segregation, all that crap.
- 40:43Like we already have enough on our plate.
- 40:45Let's just stick to the meat potatoes and really see what
- 40:50we're trying to celebrate better rate and appreciate.
- 40:53And it goes a long way because again, I used to practice
- 40:58similarly back in December, but ever since then, I'm like, you
- 41:00know, I'll just practice the lunar calendar or whatever, You
- 41:04know, it's just why create separation where it's not
- 41:08needed? It's it's not necessary.
- 41:10We practice and again, with learning, growing and
- 41:13developing, It's not anyone's pace.
- 41:17Yes, strengthen numbers, absolutely.
- 41:20But as an individual, you're the only person, and that sounds
- 41:25cynical, but you're the only person you can count on when
- 41:28push comes to shove collectively in your darkest of times, you
- 41:31got to be your own best friend before you'd be a best friend or
- 41:35a partner or whatever with anyone else.
- 41:37Again, when I say to say anyone else who's watching as well as I
- 41:40tell this to myself because it's, it's, it's a learning
- 41:44process. It's something that it's not
- 41:47accomplished by any mere months or years.
- 41:50It's a life practice. This is what we do.
- 41:56Yeah, yeah. I mean, you know, like I said,
- 41:59you know, like, like, like as as you said, you know, I, I I
- 42:03started my hang on a second, hang on a second.
- 42:08We have we have a new guest. We have a new guest joining us.
- 42:14Yeah. So, Adam.
- 42:15Yes, Sir. User error perhaps?
- 42:19ID10T Technicianer. Yeah, yeah.
- 42:24So anyway, welcome to the show everybody.
- 42:27This is Adam Cage. He is a a local leader of the
- 42:31heathen community in Tennessee, a brother of mine.
- 42:34He is also with the Raven Moon Hearth Kindred in Nashville or
- 42:40based out of Nashville. So Middle Tennessee, a Middle
- 42:42Tennessee heathen and involved with other Pagan stuff around
- 42:47the area. So real quick before I, I, I
- 42:51just want to welcome you to the live stream, Madam.
- 42:53Thank you for for coming on brother.
- 42:55Thank you. Patrick, can you hear me?
- 43:00Your screen's gone blank. Maybe not.
- 43:05Yeah, your screen's gone blank. Patrick.
- 43:08That's OK. We'll keep going.
- 43:14I'll. I'll mute him for a second.
- 43:17But anyway, we are talking about various things and we're going
- 43:22to get caught up on some user comments, some some viewer
- 43:26comments here. But we were talking about like
- 43:29the, the, the, the historical observation of certain holidays,
- 43:33you'll being the, the, the topic at hand right now, a historical
- 43:39observation of you'll versus a more modern view of you'll.
- 43:45But any who let me just get caught up on some comments,
- 43:49'cause I know there's a bunch of comments that are in the queue.
- 43:53We got Voodoo Viking on YouTube. That said, when you've had it,
- 43:58just when, when all you've had is just yourself, What do you do
- 44:02talking in terms of community? And we were talking about this
- 44:05before you joined Adam. I don't know if you were
- 44:07watching at all, but we were talking about, you know,
- 44:10community and the the online aspect of community versus the
- 44:20in person aspect of community and how there can be this sort
- 44:24of disassociation with reality when all you have is an online
- 44:32community to work with. Voodoo Viking made a comment
- 44:35that it, it just cuts right to the chase.
- 44:38It's like, it seems very pornographic, Like all you have
- 44:41is images and sounds and things that could stimulate your senses
- 44:46from the auditory and visual aspects of things in an online
- 44:49community. But you don't have this real
- 44:51tangible in person connection to people in the, you know, boots
- 44:56on the ground grassroots sort of thing.
- 45:00So their comment was here was following up as you know, when
- 45:03when when all you've had is just yourself in this online
- 45:07community, then what do you do? We'll get back to that, I'm
- 45:11sure. But scald it works down in
- 45:13Alabama. Oh, their online community hangs
- 45:16out at the Ravenwood Meadery. Good people down there.
- 45:23Voodoo Viking following UPS is the problem that I find with
- 45:25making Mead is everyone wants it, but no one's willing to come
- 45:31together. Yeah, I want, I want the booze,
- 45:35but I don't want to, you know, do anything to to, to earn my
- 45:38spot in in the queue there. Schizo is I'm I'm, I'm, I'm
- 45:44sorry for everybody that's watching.
- 45:45I'm I'm catching up on some comments.
- 45:47We'll, we'll get through it all, Schizo says.
- 45:50I feel that the I feel like the right community will find you at
- 45:56the best time. And that's what happened to
- 45:59them. I'll just pause right there.
- 46:02And again, it kind of goes back to what I was saying before.
- 46:12Yeah. You there, Patrick?
- 46:13I can't hear anybody though. We can hear you.
- 46:19Yeah, you got to turn the camera on, brother.
- 46:23But anyway, like the, you know, the whole, the right community
- 46:28will find you right. Like plant the seed like it, it
- 46:30goes back like I haven't talked about it before in a way.
- 46:33Like if you build it, they will come the whole field, the dreams
- 46:36kind of thing, right? Build the, you know, be the
- 46:40thing that you want to attract others and then they will come
- 46:44like, you know, there. There's not this unorganic way
- 46:47of doing it. It's it's not trying to be
- 46:50forcing of anything. It's, it's the, either the
- 46:56community exists and, and, and, and they'll find you or you're
- 46:59going to do the things that attract the attention of the
- 47:02community or vice versa, right? Like it's, it's, you got to, you
- 47:05got to put yourself out there. You got to be accessible in some
- 47:08sort of way. Otherwise they're not going to
- 47:12know. Nobody's going to know if you're
- 47:13not making yourself accessible to some degree, you know, how
- 47:18are you going to know? You either got you got to go to
- 47:20the meet ups, you got to find the community, you got to be
- 47:22there in person to connect with those people.
- 47:28Adam, I feel like you've probably seen enough of that or.
- 47:31Good. Portion of that to to to to
- 47:33weigh in on it if you wanted to because you've.
- 47:36Well, yeah, like I started my journey 20 years ago and the
- 47:42group that I was with, they disbanded quite quickly.
- 47:47I spent the next, I don't know, 17 years or so as a sole
- 47:53practitioner. I would go to events that when
- 47:58I, when I knew there were events around or people would invite
- 48:00me, I'd go to their events. And then I found Raisin Moon
- 48:04Hearth and and felt like I was at home these that that was
- 48:08where I need to be at. So I joined them and since
- 48:14joined them. Of course, we now have the THL
- 48:17or the Tennessee Heating Leader Group I.
- 48:21Can't hear you guys though. Yeah, Patrick, go ahead and go
- 48:24ahead and just drop and then rejoin, yeah.
- 48:30But I, I, I saw that there the original intent was one thing
- 48:39and I've tried to change it to something else and, and include
- 48:43everybody in it. Matter of fact, you're one of
- 48:46one of the members of the Tennessee Heaton's leader group
- 48:51to try to build community. So people like I believe his
- 48:55name was Voodoo. So he would have, it would be
- 49:00such a voodoo Viking wouldn't be in a online community.
- 49:06He could actually still have the community outside of whatever he
- 49:10was doing. I mean, you will find it.
- 49:14I online there are people that that know what they're talking
- 49:22about and then there's people that believe they know what
- 49:26they're talking about. And to know the difference
- 49:28online, you you can't get the same yeah, as you would with
- 49:33with something like an Amperson meeting.
- 49:40Right now he's saying too like that, you know, and I know who
- 49:44this, who Voodoo Viking is. We, we, we talk outside of, of,
- 49:49of the, the YouTube space, like, you know, I know where they're
- 49:52located. But it's like what he's saying
- 49:54is, you know, it's like you want me for all.
- 49:58It's like all you want me for is to get something off of me and
- 50:02just throw money at me. But not, not a commute, But not
- 50:07was it communer? Communer.
- 50:10Yeah, communer. Like, WTF?
- 50:12Like, what the hell? It just, I'll just stay alone
- 50:16and drink my own product. It's like.
- 50:17So I guess there's this, there's a sentiment or feeling of being
- 50:20taken advantage of because if you provide a service, you
- 50:24provide something that is a, you know, like you're providing a
- 50:31service to a community and all they want to do is take
- 50:33advantage of that service or those goods.
- 50:35Welcome back, Patrick. Yeah, and, and thank you.
- 50:39Unfortunately, I, I, I feel for I feel for him because that is
- 50:44kind of some for a better lack of the term BSI mean we all have
- 50:50our our specialties. And if his specialty is making
- 50:53me, then they should be willing to not only trying to think of
- 51:03the correct word, not not well. Basically not only pay him for
- 51:06the meat, but be willing to to consume it with him to to have
- 51:10fellowship because otherwise it's just give.
- 51:13Something back you. Know yeah, give something back.
- 51:16I mean, hey, man, that's that's great.
- 51:19Me. Yeah, that that works for so
- 51:21long. But then after a while, it's why
- 51:23do I even try kind of a mentality.
- 51:26And unfortunately that that does hurt one's spiritual outlook on
- 51:32things because it's like, well, you guys are just using me for
- 51:36this and I don't want to be used for this.
- 51:42Yeah, yeah. You have a skill set and then
- 51:45other people are are taking advantage of it, but they're not
- 51:47contributing. There's no reciprocity.
- 51:50And that's the beauty of, of Heathenry is that there's this
- 51:52understanding and there's this, there's this shared
- 51:55understanding of reciprocity. The gift cycle goes both ways.
- 52:00You don't give something, you don't get something without
- 52:02wanting to give something. And then the, the, the, the, the
- 52:05reciprocal party, the receiving party knows that I don't receive
- 52:09what I've been given without a gift in return.
- 52:12Case in point, I got a tattoo back at the, you know, early
- 52:17part of November, which was pro bono.
- 52:20It was a gift. It was, it was a gift from the
- 52:22tattoo owner of the tattoo shop owner.
- 52:26Shout out to free spirit tattoo Greg Allison down there and
- 52:28outside of Huntsville in Green Haven.
- 52:31Like it's green, green Hazel, green Hazel Alabama, you know,
- 52:36but they, they did a tattoo for me and, and you know, I walked
- 52:39out of the shop and my, my wife, you know, we, they wanted a, a
- 52:44piece of merchandise, a shirt. But, but anyway, like we did the
- 52:48tattoo and I did a podcast. My wife wanted a shirt and I
- 52:52couldn't provide monetary money to, to give in exchange for
- 52:56that, But I provided a rune set, right?
- 52:58I understood the reciprocity that was there like a gift for a
- 53:03gift. This is, this is basic heathen
- 53:06values. These are basic heathen
- 53:08understanding of things and, and let's face it, the world at
- 53:11large, gentlemen like the world at large doesn't operate in this
- 53:15mentality. This is a, this is a pretty
- 53:17secular kind of view of the world when we talk about these
- 53:21sorts of things, unfortunately so.
- 53:25The border system. Yeah, yeah, this for that, You
- 53:28know, quid pro quo voodoo Viking also says that it's like, all
- 53:34you want for me is to get something off of me.
- 53:36Yeah, I'm sorry, I already had that comment.
- 53:40Sorry guys, let me let me jump over here to Wild Heathen
- 53:43Wolfpack's comment. From my travels.
- 53:46I've observed from the building slash finding that either tribes
- 53:50are extremely tight knit and usually don't let outsiders in
- 53:55or the cautionary tale of horror stories of bad tribes, heathen,
- 54:05wild heathen Wolfpack. They are, they are based out of
- 54:08Alaska. So this is a really interesting
- 54:10comment. I'm I'm gonna talk more a bit
- 54:11about this on this podcast. I mentioned this early on and
- 54:14and we're deep into the podcast now.
- 54:16So just for people's awareness, wild heathen Wolfpack, they
- 54:19operate out of out of Alaska. And I was cordially invited to
- 54:23attend the Heathen Days and Pagan Nights festival up in
- 54:29Salcha, AK next year in 2025, which is I think close to or
- 54:35around outside of the Fairbanks, AK area.
- 54:39So I get to go and I get, I get to talk about heathen stuff.
- 54:42I get to, I get to produce a podcast, I get to talk about
- 54:45things and I get to, you know, maybe do a class or two with
- 54:49these folks up there. But they've got a community and,
- 54:52and even up in this remote area, they're, they're, they're seeing
- 54:54some of the same stuff that Adam area.
- 54:56They're they're they're seeing some of the same stuff that Adam
- 54:59let me go ahead and mute Patrick.
- 55:06Sorry about that folks, but anyways, pretty.
- 55:09Good. Hey, Patrick, you there?
- 55:13Yeah, I'm here. OK, Yep, sorry about that.
- 55:15We had a little bit of audio feedback, so apologies for that.
- 55:18But yeah, anyway, so they're, they're seeing stuff similar to
- 55:20what we see here in, in a very close knit community area up in,
- 55:24in a very remote area as well, where, you know, they're either
- 55:27extremely tight knit or they're cautionary.
- 55:30You know, they, they, they, they, they, they kind of stay
- 55:33outside of, of, of things and, and keep things.
- 55:35I was like I mentioned before, I don't know if you were here, but
- 55:37I mentioned like there, there there seems to be more of a, of
- 55:41a, of an effort at times to build walls instead of extending
- 55:46tables and lengthening tables. You know, we see this what's
- 55:54happening in in in places even outside of our immediate area up
- 55:58in Alaska. Not my hall, not my call, says
- 56:00Matthew. Sarah Skull that works is
- 56:04greeting Adam. And I want to catch a comment
- 56:08from Joshua Bright Spirit, who says that in those even small
- 56:14instances of conflict or difference, especially online
- 56:18people, instead of looking to grow, learn or develop, we tend
- 56:23to sell it all short with quote UN quote, someone must be right
- 56:28or someone must also be wrong. You guys care to comment on
- 56:33that? Yeah, I, I will.
- 56:37This whole, this whole like I'm right, you're wrong, you're
- 56:39there right, you're wrong, like I'm.
- 56:42It's you're not going to make any progress as the person or as
- 56:47the tribe thinking that way, because going back to what we
- 56:51knew we knew were discussing Jesse is progress and
- 56:54achievements and setbacks and life in general.
- 56:58It's not at anyone collective pace.
- 57:01It's at an individual pace. Like there might be certain
- 57:06members of a tribe, let's say a hypothetical tribe that doesn't
- 57:09exist. Si gets it, Joe doesn't, but Joe
- 57:15still still very much connected and wants to reciprocate.
- 57:21Does it make him any lesser? No, He's still growing and
- 57:25learning, developing. This is the other part, you
- 57:29know, it's, it's yeah, that's I'm struggling to find the right
- 57:35words to say, but just. Yeah, it's it's fully hard to
- 57:37say it was right or wrong. It's just a learning process, an
- 57:41experience. Well, something I've said to to
- 57:49several people, because I've had dealings with that here most
- 57:54more recently than not, is I feel like everybody should
- 57:59remember that there's three sides to a story.
- 58:03There's person A side, person B side and then the truth, but
- 58:10person A and person B need to feel need to be able to come to
- 58:14some kind of heartfelt understanding.
- 58:22Yes, for a better lack of the word.
- 58:24Thank you. Thank you, Patrick.
- 58:25Understanding so that they can still grow together just for and
- 58:31when I say this, please Patrick, I'm going to pick on you for
- 58:34just a little bit. That's fine, give it.
- 58:37To me, me, me and Jesse like Ozzy Osbourne, You don't.
- 58:42You don't. You don't prefer Ozzy.
- 58:47But guess what? Just because you don't like Ozzy
- 58:49doesn't mean we can't still go to a heat on concert or a
- 58:55wardrobe concert or go just have a go to a local bar and have a
- 59:01beer. It doesn't mean we can't do
- 59:03that. Everybody's going to have a
- 59:05difference. And OK, you don't like Ozzy, for
- 59:10example, that doesn't make you wrong, doesn't make you right.
- 59:14I like him doesn't make me wrong, right.
- 59:16And that's what people need to realize is there's always we're
- 59:20going to have indifferences no matter what.
- 59:23And even in our own crimes, we can have indifferences, but does
- 59:26not mean that we still cannot grow and grow our community,
- 59:31grow our spiritual, our spiritual lives, our friendships
- 59:38can't grow or they can still grow just because we have
- 59:42differences. That's what makes us human is
- 59:44the differences that we have. It's actually kind of beautiful
- 59:48in a way. It's it's awesome having
- 59:50different opinions because like, you know, Jesse mean, you share
- 59:53music out on occasion. Sometimes you share something I
- 59:57don't care for or vice versa, and sometimes you share
- 1:00:01something with me I never heard before just because I never
- 1:00:05heard of them. I'm not going to give it a harp.
- 1:00:07No, no, of course not going to get a bit.
- 1:00:09Give it a chance. You never know unless you try
- 1:00:12within reason, of course, with certain things and people, but
- 1:00:15you know, it's just within reason.
- 1:00:17But yeah, it's just you got to try it before you knock it.
- 1:00:22For the most part though, just in my Shaker world, like.
- 1:00:29Gegaldeer, Jesse the The One song.
- 1:00:36I can't think of the name of it though.
- 1:00:41Which one is it now? The The.
- 1:00:42One with the burning. Allergies.
- 1:00:46Yeah, but who was it, Geldeer? Yeah, yeah, yeah 'cause you did
- 1:00:53a podcast with them once. Oh, you're talking about
- 1:00:57Volusia? Thank you, Baluspa.
- 1:01:00It was. It's taken my mind, yeah.
- 1:01:02Yeah, Baluspa. Oh, OK.
- 1:01:04I I never would have discovered them until you brought them to
- 1:01:07my attention. And ever since you did, I'm
- 1:01:09like, hey, Jesse, Jesse, Jesse, Here's another, you know, link
- 1:01:14to the song. Yeah.
- 1:01:19Yeah, you know, I mean, you know, look.
- 1:01:20It's, you know, music is one thing.
- 1:01:22Practices are another thing. It's like we were talking
- 1:01:25earlier before about, you know, a heathen and this is where we
- 1:01:32get into the weeds a bit. You know, my tribes approach to
- 1:01:37when we celebrate Yule, we collectively agree to celebrate
- 1:01:41Yule following a historical pre Christian observance of the
- 1:01:48reckoning of time. So we will do that next month.
- 1:01:55Now is anybody else that is choosing to observe their
- 1:02:00yuletide now for the next 12 nights, are they wrong?
- 1:02:05Well, what does wrong really mean?
- 1:02:06You know, are, are you trying to say that they're not heathen for
- 1:02:09doing so? I mean, I'm not going to sit
- 1:02:12here and say that because who am I right?
- 1:02:15If you want to say that it is old ways heathen believes to do
- 1:02:21so, that is factually incorrect. It's factually wrong because the
- 1:02:27pre Christian Edens did a three night Yule celebration.
- 1:02:30You know, at the the the the time and whence they did it.
- 1:02:34But I'm not going to split hairs with one group in my region or
- 1:02:39in my area that wants to do a 12 night Yule celebration around
- 1:02:44this time of year versus the other group that wants to do a
- 1:02:47more historical view or approach to it.
- 1:02:50I'm not going to split hairs and divide myself with them because
- 1:02:53of that. Like that's, that's dumb.
- 1:02:56That's stupid. Like do what you want to do in
- 1:03:00your own way. Like, but you know, so and, and
- 1:03:04it goes back to if I ultimately think about, like you think
- 1:03:08about the downfall of Heathenry when it all happened, how it all
- 1:03:13happened. You go back thousands and
- 1:03:16thousands of years and you and you look at the reason why
- 1:03:20Heathenry in continental dramatic lands in northern
- 1:03:27Europe. Why did it, why did it die?
- 1:03:30Why did it fizzle out? Why was it extinguished?
- 1:03:34It was because there was no unity.
- 1:03:36There was no confederation. There was no sense of let's band
- 1:03:41together, let's join together and let's be the thing that
- 1:03:45needs to be the thing to keep us going.
- 1:03:49There was influence of money, there was influence of land.
- 1:03:54There was influence of position, title, right.
- 1:03:57You go back 1015, hundred years ago.
- 1:04:00When when you know, Charlemagne was was was wiping people out.
- 1:04:06The Franks were going through and they were they were doing
- 1:04:08what they were doing. It was abandoned.
- 1:04:10Your heathen ways be baptized into the church become Christian
- 1:04:16and you will get title, you will get land, you will get nobility.
- 1:04:19You will get all these things right.
- 1:04:21And it was this, it was the tangible NUM NUM NUM NUM NUM
- 1:04:25money, right? All these beautiful things that
- 1:04:27they could and they and and they and they, they said, OK, forget
- 1:04:32it. Forget, forget the, the, the
- 1:04:35full moon blessings, forget the keeping of our holy tides and
- 1:04:40sacred grows. Forget all that they did it for
- 1:04:43the almighty dollar as as it as it were at the time.
- 1:04:46A lot of them did. There were some that that
- 1:04:48resisted and there were some that that said, you know, no,
- 1:04:51we're going to fight. You know, Wittican was, was was
- 1:04:54one of the last Saxon heathen heroes that said, no, I'm not
- 1:04:57going to, I'm not gonna do that or we're gonna fight.
- 1:05:02But he didn't have an he didn't have allies.
- 1:05:06So, yeah, not that we're facing the same thing nowadays, but
- 1:05:13there's, there's something of of that nature to be reminded of.
- 1:05:22Voodoo Vikings says that people easily love respect for each
- 1:05:25other. People easily lose respect for
- 1:05:31each other is what I have to say is the largest factor in such
- 1:05:35cases. I'm going to meet a couple of
- 1:05:41people here because I'm getting a lot of feet right now.
- 1:05:54And then Bright Spirit says that it's the wedge in accessing a
- 1:05:58lot of community and again, especially online, that
- 1:06:02communication breakdown is discussing what we believe and
- 1:06:08having lost the ability to be humbly right or humbly wrong for
- 1:06:14the sake of growth toward that community dynamic.
- 1:06:22Humbly right and humbly wrong. That's a tough place for a lot
- 1:06:27of us, I think, to get to, you know, because we're not always
- 1:06:32right. What what is right, what is
- 1:06:34wrong, you know, on the community scale.
- 1:06:46I don't know, Adam. What do you think?
- 1:06:53My personal belief is we are all humble in some way.
- 1:07:00Now, the humble right or the humble wrong, it's neither to
- 1:07:04me. That's neither here nor there.
- 1:07:05We're to almost to be a good leader in this, in this
- 1:07:13community, you have to be humble.
- 1:07:18You have to to know, you know, yeah, you may be right on
- 1:07:22something, but you may be wrong on something else.
- 1:07:26And to keep yourself humble and to, to see that is how you would
- 1:07:32work to build everything to, to, to build not only yourself worth
- 1:07:38inside the community, but inside your own tribe, inside your own
- 1:07:43home. And you know, at your own
- 1:07:46workplace. Even so, as as like he says, you
- 1:07:54know, you have to be humble for the sake of growing a growth
- 1:07:59towards that community dynamic. Yeah, I think humility is one of
- 1:08:06these things that gets. I mean, it's, it's, I don't want
- 1:08:12to say necessarily forgotten, but when, when a leader is put
- 1:08:25into a position, hopefully the am I, the way I see it, you
- 1:08:29know, is hopefully that, that that leader is, is voted or, or
- 1:08:33believed to be put into a position of leadership based
- 1:08:37upon the needs of the people, right.
- 1:08:39So it's not something that is just arbitrarily bestowed upon
- 1:08:42oneself to, to do. It is based around the deeds,
- 1:08:51the vote of confidence, right? Like, yeah, the deeds of that
- 1:08:53person, but also the people that are in that community to see
- 1:08:57like, hey, this person who I see as, as right and, and good to
- 1:09:03serve in that position of, of leadership that they, they,
- 1:09:08they, that they do carry a sense of humility in that role of
- 1:09:14leadership. There's also a need, I feel that
- 1:09:19the, the people who have joined that community, who are a part
- 1:09:26of that community, who have, who have given this person the, the,
- 1:09:30the, the, the position of leadership.
- 1:09:33There is a sense of humility upon the people as well.
- 1:09:36To, to trust. Like the burden of trust lies on
- 1:09:39the leader, right? I need to give you reason to
- 1:09:41trust me. I need to give you a reason to,
- 1:09:44to to to believe what I say is what it is or are they what they
- 1:09:47whatever, right. I understand that.
- 1:09:52Do you think and, and, and is there do, do, do, do, have you
- 1:09:57seen perhaps that there is a, an act of defiance amongst the
- 1:10:06others that say, no, I don't like what you're saying and
- 1:10:09therefore I'm going to do defy leadership.
- 1:10:12It's like, hey, you know, you know what, you can defy it all
- 1:10:14you want. You, you may not like it, but,
- 1:10:16but does that give you the right to, to, to usurp the leadership?
- 1:10:22And, and you know, and maybe I'm getting in and maybe I'm getting
- 1:10:24into some stuff that's just like, I don't know, like I'm not
- 1:10:33trying to say that the leader is the ultimate authority on
- 1:10:35things. I think there should be, what's
- 1:10:38the word I'm looking for? There should be this consensus.
- 1:10:41Yeah, like an elder or or elder. Like.
- 1:10:44Yeah, like it's not, it's, it's not a dictatorship, you know
- 1:10:47what I'm saying? Like it's not one person's say
- 1:10:49so it's, it's it they're. But when the leaders converge
- 1:10:53and when the leaders, you know, unite and, and they make a
- 1:10:58decision on something, well, then if those are your leaders,
- 1:11:01then by golly, that's what you stand by.
- 1:11:05You, you, you have aligned yourself with the leaders that
- 1:11:08you yourself believe to be in that position to do things for
- 1:11:12the best interest of the people. And if they're failing, there
- 1:11:17needs to be a process there. There needs to be a, there needs
- 1:11:20to be steps to, to, to correct or, or, or to course correct,
- 1:11:24you know, because like you say, you know, not everybody's
- 1:11:26perfect. And then then there's going to
- 1:11:27be errors that get made. But to just arbitrarily just be
- 1:11:31like uproot and and create this like mutiny as it were in in a
- 1:11:36community just because I don't like what somebody says, like I
- 1:11:38don't, I don't think that's the way to go either.
- 1:11:41Personally. Yeah, we can hear you, Patrick.
- 1:11:46Sorry, buddy cowboy on YouTube says it's definitely a pride for
- 1:11:51some people throughout the community.
- 1:11:52A pride issue. Absolutely I.
- 1:11:55Mean. Too many chiefs, not enough
- 1:11:59Indians, as they say. Or as the saying goes.
- 1:12:04Well, yeah, like I was just reminded a lot, there's a lot of
- 1:12:11conflict resolution that's not being taken care of inside the
- 1:12:15the community or inside the the the tribes.
- 1:12:21And when that, that's when you have your main issue is when the
- 1:12:26tribes cannot talk and come up with their own resolution.
- 1:12:31That's when they start to fall apart, their own resolution.
- 1:12:33That's when they. Start to fall.
- 1:12:42Yeah. I feel like that's an important
- 1:12:43thing too, is if, you know, you have members or individuals of
- 1:12:49separate sovereign tribes infringing upon one another, you
- 1:12:53know what I mean? Like handle your own business,
- 1:12:56handle your own stuff, you know, yeah, I, I'm, I'm not in a
- 1:13:03position to, you know, I'm not in a position to, to, to
- 1:13:15infringe upon the sovereignty of Raven Moon Hearth.
- 1:13:20We'll just use as, as an example.
- 1:13:22And, and just like Raven Moonhart's not in a position to
- 1:13:25infringe upon the sovereignty of Maya, you know, the liberty
- 1:13:29folk, you know, the tribe that I'm, that I'm associated with.
- 1:13:32And two, so if, if, if there's a conflict or there's a, you know,
- 1:13:37something that that is happening, handle your shit,
- 1:13:42right? Handle your own business.
- 1:13:43And that's the beauty of what sovereignty of tribe to me means
- 1:13:47is that you're, you're, you're. And I, I think that's also a, a
- 1:13:51big problem too, because it, I think that, that, that groups
- 1:13:54are being formed and, and maybe established without that,
- 1:14:02without that structure, right? They, they, they're not able to,
- 1:14:05to, to handle their own stuff internally.
- 1:14:08And so when all these other outside influences are, are, are
- 1:14:13out there, it's, it's well, you know, this person said this,
- 1:14:17that or the other or, you know. Oh, oh, believe me, I understand
- 1:14:24wholeheartedly what you're saying.
- 1:14:28I, I see it like I call it man I I, I, I say it like I see it
- 1:14:32Voodoo Viking says, you know, don't air your dirty laundry.
- 1:14:36I, I think that's, that's fair too.
- 1:14:39Godfrey beer on on Facebook is what's he doing?
- 1:14:43What's what's Godfrey bear? Oh yeah, Sorry I'm late.
- 1:14:45Was playing with dinosaurs. Well, cool man.
- 1:14:47Enjoy the dinosaurs. But yeah, I'm going to I'm going
- 1:14:56to do, I'm going to take a quick recess.
- 1:14:59I'm going to pause for just a minute to do a bathroom break.
- 1:15:02We'll, we'll keep the live stream going.
- 1:15:04Adam, you're willing. You're you're welcome to stay if
- 1:15:06you want. I'm going to just do a quick,
- 1:15:08you know, minute or two break. So for, for folks that are
- 1:15:13listening and watching, please, you know, follow and subscribe
- 1:15:15to, to what I do. This is the season 5 finale of
- 1:15:19the Random Heathen Ramblings podcast.
- 1:15:21We'll be back in just a minute or two after a quick bathroom
- 1:15:24break. Adam, like I said, you're
- 1:15:25willing, you're, you're welcome to stay if you're willing or
- 1:15:27wanting to. You're under no obligation to do
- 1:15:30so whatsoever, but we can. Concentrate, you had me on.
- 1:15:34Yeah, I appreciate you being here, brother.
- 1:15:36So yeah, we're going to take a quick break, listen to the some
- 1:15:39music in the background while we do a quick bath and break, and
- 1:15:42we'll pick up our conversation when we get back.
- 1:15:44So thank you all for tuning in and watching, and we'll be back
- 1:15:47shortly. The.
- 1:17:06The. The.
- 1:18:37All right, folks, we're back. Thank you for the brief
- 1:18:41intermission slash break and welcome back to Adam and
- 1:18:54everybody else. And maybe Patrick will rejoin,
- 1:18:58Not sure, but yeah. So, yeah, you know, I don't
- 1:19:09know, man. Like semantics.
- 1:19:12I, I guess, you know, boils down to, to, to semantics.
- 1:19:15Welcome back to you. Skaldic works as well.
- 1:19:18Thanks for for commenting there. Yeah, we're still here.
- 1:19:21We're still we're still broadcasting live for the Season
- 1:19:245 finale. I did mention earlier in the
- 1:19:27podcast about some of the wild Heathen Wolfpack comments that
- 1:19:34have been coming through, especially on on YouTube.
- 1:19:37So for, for those of you that don't know, I was cordially
- 1:19:42invited to attend the Heathen Days and Pagan Nights event in
- 1:19:49South Alaska, which is about 30 minutes or so outside of, of
- 1:19:53Fairbanks, as I understand. So I'm getting a chance to
- 1:19:56travel to Alaska next year. And all of your help is greatly
- 1:20:01appreciated with with that because I get a chance to travel
- 1:20:10and and connect with heathens in the area that I I don't
- 1:20:14normally. So if you're willing and wanting
- 1:20:20to help with that endeavor, joining my Patreon is the best
- 1:20:24way to do that. When you go to
- 1:20:26patreon.com/midgard Musing, you can join at any tier level that
- 1:20:32you want. Very basic level is the Carl
- 1:20:38tier and it's just a $1.00 pledge.
- 1:20:41So when you join at that tier, you get access to my video
- 1:20:44podcasts, you get an in screen credit mentioned in the, the,
- 1:20:49the splash screen at the end of all of my video podcasts.
- 1:20:53And if you want to go up from there, there's, there's
- 1:20:55different tiers. But if you go to
- 1:20:56patreon.com/midgard musings, supporting me in that way is
- 1:21:00going to help with us getting to, to Alaska next year.
- 1:21:04My wife and I and, and, and, and stuff.
- 1:21:08So I'm going to be talking about it going into season 6 and, and
- 1:21:11really trying to push with that. So if you want to help in that
- 1:21:15in any that way, again, it's just a dollar a month.
- 1:21:18That $1.00 a month pledge gets you video access to at least
- 1:21:21three to four video podcasts each each each month.
- 1:21:26You get to watch these sorts of live streams and stuff.
- 1:21:29If you don't get a chance to, to to join the live stream in real
- 1:21:33life in, in or real time, you know, action or whatever.
- 1:21:39So it helps and it's greatly appreciated and thank you so
- 1:21:41much. All right, yes, welcome back,
- 1:21:49Godfrey Baer and Matthew Sarah has quite a a a comment to
- 1:21:53share. Matthew Sarah has a question
- 1:21:56about the Bates here. I have a a room in his house
- 1:22:03that I really hate entering because every fiber in my being
- 1:22:08is telling me quote, UN quote, get out.
- 1:22:11This is an old house that used to be a doctor's office 50 years
- 1:22:15ago. People have died here and it's
- 1:22:18known to be quote UN quote haunted.
- 1:22:22Things have been seen and heard and felt.
- 1:22:26Is it hypocritical for me to venerate Lanvatier on holidays
- 1:22:32like Desa Bloat but not feel good about being in this room?
- 1:22:42Well, I think the the operative question here is, is it
- 1:22:47hypocritical for me to venerate Landviteer on holidays but not
- 1:22:55feel good about being in the room?
- 1:23:05I don't know, Adam, do you have a, do you have anything you
- 1:23:07wanna after seeing that or, or or thinking about that, do you
- 1:23:10have anything that you wanna add about, you know, land spirits,
- 1:23:13local spirits, your interaction with, with, with such in the
- 1:23:19context of this sort of dynamic wherein a local spirit seems to
- 1:23:27or or appears to be in a a very like the nature of, of, of
- 1:23:37taking control of the area. Like this is Myspace, get out.
- 1:23:41Like you're not welcome here, that sort of thing.
- 1:23:46If that makes any sense. Yeah, it does.
- 1:23:51I cannot say I've personally had any experiences like that.
- 1:23:59I I That's a tough one. Yeah, these types of things tend
- 1:24:04to be tough because again, with, with, with space, with land,
- 1:24:09with, with shared space. You know, a lot of times what
- 1:24:15can happen is the, the, the spirit of the place or the
- 1:24:21spirit of, of the land around it can take up residency and be
- 1:24:27quite the, the, the, the force to be reckoned with from a
- 1:24:33heathen perspective. Land is claimed space is claimed
- 1:24:42to be under the, the, the auspices of the, the, the, the,
- 1:24:48the person claiming it or, or the people claiming it through
- 1:24:52the use of fire. OK, so sacred space land, you
- 1:24:59know, if, if you're going to try to, to, to, to set space as
- 1:25:03being your own or, or under the auspices of your own, fire
- 1:25:09should be present from a heathen perspective.
- 1:25:13You should walk the space, the the, the barriers, the perimeter
- 1:25:17of of the land or of the space with fire.
- 1:25:20And that could be a torch, that could be a candle, that could be
- 1:25:23any, any iteration or existence of fire.
- 1:25:28I think especially in modern times, some places, you know, it
- 1:25:31may not, it may not be prudent or safe to carry a torch in an
- 1:25:35apartment, but a candle work right 'cause it's fire and, and
- 1:25:42to and to declare the space as, as as such.
- 1:25:45All right, now it's a now if it's a if it's a if it's the
- 1:25:50nature of the spirit who resides there and who exists there is
- 1:25:54malevolent, then it might require the, the help of, of, of
- 1:26:02someone who is a bit more in tune with the spirit realm.
- 1:26:05So maybe a Givia or a Gothi or someone who is a practitioner of
- 1:26:10save right? The the the shaman esque type
- 1:26:15equivalent, someone who can communicate with the spirit
- 1:26:19realm a bit better. So if there's a challenge there
- 1:26:25to, to, to set space to, to, to declare space through the use of
- 1:26:29fire. If you, if you're being pushed
- 1:26:30back with that spirit's presence, then you might want to
- 1:26:36consider employing or or incorporating aid or the use of
- 1:26:41of someone who is is more in tune with the realm to do that.
- 1:26:46But in terms of the question, is it hypocritical to venerate land
- 1:26:55vetir on holidays? You don't feel good about it.
- 1:27:00I, I, I think if you're, if you're infringing upon native
- 1:27:04spirits, if you're infringing upon the native spirits
- 1:27:15activity, you know, if, if, if they feel that they have
- 1:27:19precedence over the land or over the space, then you might need
- 1:27:23to again, incorporate the, the the aid of, of someone else to,
- 1:27:28to cleanse that space. I've only ever worked in in
- 1:27:35space that is benevolent. So I, I've not been needed or,
- 1:27:42or or I've not been asked to, to step into spaces of, of a
- 1:27:48malevolent nature. Nature.
- 1:27:49This seems like your situation is incorporate or or inhabited
- 1:27:56by a spirit of of malevolent intent.
- 1:28:01You know, intent. So trying to do anything or
- 1:28:06trying to behave in any way that is of a venerative nature
- 1:28:10towards either the DCR, meaning your, your, your female
- 1:28:13ancestors or the Alfader, your, your, your male ancestors or
- 1:28:17anything like that could be met with opposition because they
- 1:28:21have a strong presence there. And so if they're not welcome
- 1:28:26and they're not needed and then not wanted there, they need to
- 1:28:31be told as such and they need to be moved out.
- 1:28:37The land number book, which is an Icelandic source of, of, you
- 1:28:41know, the book of settlers in in Iceland.
- 1:28:47So when the Norwegians moved and, and settled in Iceland,
- 1:28:49there, there there's some information in that source that
- 1:28:54that might give you some again, inspiration on the claiming and
- 1:28:59the taking of land. It it's rife with the use of
- 1:29:03fire. So fire is a good way to, to
- 1:29:07claim space and to claim land. So is it hypocritical?
- 1:29:14I don't, I don't necessarily know that that's the, the, the
- 1:29:17right term that I would incorporate in, in my own way.
- 1:29:21It wouldn't fit right to me. Like, you know, if there, if
- 1:29:23there's another force or another spirit that is existing there
- 1:29:27and you're trying to, to, to venerate or do things that are
- 1:29:29meaningful to you through the, you know, with your D Seer or
- 1:29:33your alpha, you might not get the results you're looking for
- 1:29:38if they're, if the space is inhabited by another spirit.
- 1:29:49Bring me back a T-shirt. Oh, when I go to Alaska, hey,
- 1:29:52I'll see what I can do, right? We're still a little bit ways
- 1:29:55out. When is the Alaska trip?
- 1:29:59Godfrey Berry? It is August 30th through
- 1:30:02September 2nd. So it's, it's the end of August
- 1:30:05into the beginning of September. It's that like, you know, that
- 1:30:07Labor Day weekend of the American holiday, I'd help, but
- 1:30:14probably too far away from the northern forest.
- 1:30:16No, I'm telling you like the help that you can do.
- 1:30:19You don't have to be geographically close to me.
- 1:30:22The, the, the $1.00 pledge. If you want to, to, to pledge
- 1:30:26your support at, at, you know, the Carl tier, that $1.00 pledge
- 1:30:30helps because that, that's going to help with, with, with, with
- 1:30:39travel expenses and, and everything about that.
- 1:30:45Voodoo Vikings has had a similar situation a few months ago.
- 1:30:48Just let it be, let them be content.
- 1:30:51Then my brother decided to bring Catholic imagery and symbols in
- 1:30:56and it pissed them off and told them not to do it.
- 1:31:00Yeah, I mean, they're like that, you know, when you're talking,
- 1:31:06you know, the, the, the, the, the physical plane, the
- 1:31:08spiritual plane, like these are all these are all beings that
- 1:31:11exist in profane space. So us, me, you, Adam, right.
- 1:31:16We, we are physical beings that exist in profane space.
- 1:31:19The spirit realm also exists in profane space.
- 1:31:22They they exceed and experience things maybe in a different
- 1:31:25degree, but in the same space. There's profane space, there's
- 1:31:29sacred space. And, and these deities, they are
- 1:31:33these these beings, these entities that exist in spirit
- 1:31:37form in profane space might respond differently to certain
- 1:31:48imagery, to certain symbology, you know, So, yeah, that's the
- 1:31:58thing. I don't know if you if you've
- 1:31:59ever experienced anything like that, Adam.
- 1:32:04No, Connie Watson on Facebook says Carcilia powder.
- 1:32:17Oh, she's given us a bit of a spell here, or they're giving us
- 1:32:20a bit of a spell here. So we got egg shells, Dragon's
- 1:32:24blood resin, which I love to burn.
- 1:32:26It's a great insect repellent, smells great, but it's also good
- 1:32:30just to burn as as an insta repellent.
- 1:32:33Rose petals, Jasmine flowers, Grind it up, put it in your
- 1:32:37hand, blow it to the room and it's like Xanax for ghosts.
- 1:32:43Well, if you say so, I don't know.
- 1:32:48Can't say or confirm or deny. But if you say so I you know, if
- 1:32:56you're sharing that the then then then great, give it a try,
- 1:33:00folks. I mean, I don't know, I can't.
- 1:33:04This is nothing heathen. This is nothing.
- 1:33:05This thing inherently heathen. So this this is folklore era,
- 1:33:10you know, or folk folklore level type stuff, You know, egg
- 1:33:13shells, Dragon's blood resin mix this thing that and the other.
- 1:33:16This is kitchen witch one O 1 type stuff, right Adam?
- 1:33:23Yeah, I, I. I was going to say if he had a,
- 1:33:25if he knew anybody from the Wiccan community asked them to
- 1:33:28go in and yeah, and perform a, a say a cleansing ritual and get
- 1:33:33them. Which, yeah, I mean, it seems to
- 1:33:37be predominant what, what what's available out there.
- 1:33:39But I think that, you know, if, if Connie's mentioning this
- 1:33:43with, with all the good intention behind it, I mean, if,
- 1:33:45if it's if it's folklore related, you know, if it's
- 1:33:48regional, I mean, if it works, it works.
- 1:33:50So what's the harm in trying it? I don't know.
- 1:33:54I can't speak too much on that. Voodoo Viking says that.
- 1:34:00Oh, so so this is going back to the whole introduction of a
- 1:34:03Catholic symbology. They argued saying that in
- 1:34:07Christ you have power. Then I the sink turned on.
- 1:34:16Oh, then the sink turned on full blast.
- 1:34:19So there's there's obviously a or there's seemingly a an
- 1:34:22obvious reference to to invoking Christ into the ritual in which
- 1:34:29point the spirit responded in the negative, perhaps with the
- 1:34:34turning on of appliances, demons in the house, demons, you know,
- 1:34:48whatever label, whatever name you want to put to it.
- 1:34:54Hope to see you in the spring when I get an empty out.
- 1:34:56Yeah. Godfrey Berry.
- 1:34:57Yeah. If you get out and about and
- 1:34:58you're in the area of Tennessee, let me know.
- 1:35:03Can you spell the name of that book?
- 1:35:06Yeah. And there's Randy.
- 1:35:09I'm I'm catching up on some on some comments.
- 1:35:12They're so sorry. Randy, if you're still here, I
- 1:35:15hope Halen and hello to you. But yes, Matthew P Matthew Sarah
- 1:35:22Land Nama book. I will give you the spelling of
- 1:35:33it in the comments. Boom, there you go.
- 1:35:42Look, look up, look up the La Nama book again, it means just
- 1:35:49book of settlers. You can find it on YouTube or
- 1:35:56no, sorry, YouTube. You can find it on Amazon.
- 1:35:58It's it's accessible there. So yeah, there you go All right,
- 1:36:09skull that works. I think the best way or the best
- 1:36:13that we to deal with malevolent revenants would be to understand
- 1:36:20why they are as such and try to make peace with them.
- 1:36:24If they refuse to do so, then it's time to send them on their
- 1:36:27way. And intention is key.
- 1:36:38Yeah, I want ghosts that will do my dishes, Connie.
- 1:36:47Fold the laundry, sweep the floors, mop the, mop the, you
- 1:36:51know, mop the floors, do all the house chores.
- 1:36:53Like, wouldn't that be great? Wouldn't wouldn't that be great
- 1:36:56if we had whites or Vaits here that could just do it all for
- 1:36:59us? Don't forget mow the grass.
- 1:37:05Mow the grass, you know, chop the wood, you know, Do all.
- 1:37:12Do all the sundry things, do all the sundry chores, but I don't
- 1:37:16know, man, like, I feel like this is like one of those
- 1:37:18things. I, you know, I, I, I can't say
- 1:37:20right, wrong or indifferent. This comment, you know, best way
- 1:37:23to deal with malevolent revenants is to try to
- 1:37:27understand them. I don't know.
- 1:37:31They, they, they exist in, in, in, in a, in a, in a space and
- 1:37:35time. That is is.
- 1:37:36Sure, it's profane space, but it's spirit.
- 1:37:46Yeah, like, why are they, why are they trying to, yeah, go to
- 1:37:49work for us? Yeah.
- 1:37:50Why are they, why are they being malevolent?
- 1:37:52Why are they being disruptive? Right.
- 1:37:56These haunting type forces, most of what we see from like
- 1:38:02Scandinavian sources of, of, of malevolent spirits are like the
- 1:38:07drauger, you know, the, the, the spirits of the dead that, that
- 1:38:12weren't given proper burial rites.
- 1:38:14And, and, and so they, they exist in spirit form as
- 1:38:19malevolent beings to be disruptive to the living.
- 1:38:25They, they, they scare them, they, they, they, they are
- 1:38:28generally disruptive, sometimes violent, you know, so, you know,
- 1:38:39and then these are terms that exist in, again, in sources that
- 1:38:42are not native to our land, you know, we're, we're, we're
- 1:38:46talking, we're in, you know, North America, you know, So
- 1:38:49Veithir, Draugur and, and all these things, they're, they're,
- 1:38:52they're not native terms that, that are known to the spirits of
- 1:38:56this land. I think.
- 1:39:01And this is my personal opinion, you know, if you're going to try
- 1:39:05to connect or try to, to, to find a remedy to something that
- 1:39:10is native to the land that you live in, you need the people who
- 1:39:15are native of the land to help with it, right?
- 1:39:19So maybe it's the indigenous, native, First Nation peoples,
- 1:39:23whatever. I mean, they're the ones that
- 1:39:28are versed in that medicine. They know what they're doing
- 1:39:33when it comes to dealing with these types of forces, with
- 1:39:37these types of entities in their cultural practices.
- 1:39:41So a rose by any other name is still a rose, right?
- 1:39:47So whether you call it veytir, whether you call it white,
- 1:39:50whether you call it spirit, whatever you, you know, it's
- 1:39:53still the same thing. But if you're if you're trying
- 1:39:56to extinguish or Vanquish. A foe on native territory.
- 1:40:03Wouldn't you want to know what that native thing is that that
- 1:40:11needs? Like what?
- 1:40:12What it needs to be extinguished.
- 1:40:15I got my, you know, and I got Adam here too because I'm like,
- 1:40:18I don't know. I'm talking how you're just
- 1:40:20like, I think you probably want to get native involvement with.
- 1:40:25Native. Issues if it's it's if it's a if
- 1:40:29if you're in Louisiana and you're in the swamps of of of
- 1:40:32of, you know, Cajun countryman like you probably want some, you
- 1:40:37know, local magic. You want, you probably want some
- 1:40:39voodoo. You probably want some of, of
- 1:40:40that magic, you know, to, to help with, with, to working
- 1:40:45through, of things. If you're in, you know, other
- 1:40:48indigenous lands of, of the North American continent in the
- 1:40:52United States, the lower 48, you know, maybe connect with and
- 1:40:58understand what those native, what that native medicine is to,
- 1:41:03to, to deal with such things or to work through such things,
- 1:41:07'cause we're not in, we're not in Scandinavia, we're not in
- 1:41:10continental Europe. Like we're, we're, we're placing
- 1:41:14names on things that are not indigenous to our land, calling
- 1:41:18them Veitier and whites and such.
- 1:41:20These are dramatic terms that are, that are native to lands
- 1:41:24across a vast sea, you know, but again, a rose by, you know, the
- 1:41:31name is still a rose. So you call it one thing, it's
- 1:41:35still the same thing and just depends on where you're from.
- 1:41:44Adam, what do you think? Well, I was in here thinking
- 1:41:50about that. And while you're talking, I
- 1:41:51mean, one thing that the gentleman could do is do more
- 1:41:57research on the House and find out, you know, he said like 50
- 1:42:01people had died in this house because it was a hospital at one
- 1:42:06time. Look at the time framing of when
- 1:42:10it was a hospital, you know, and like you said, then find the
- 1:42:16local medicine or, you know, the the local spiritual worker that
- 1:42:22dealt with that during that time.
- 1:42:27Oh. Randy says that that goes to be
- 1:42:31most welcome in his house. All right, Randy.
- 1:42:34All right, So everybody, Randy, you commented here first send,
- 1:42:39send it to send it to Randy's house.
- 1:42:43Yeah, I I don't think his wife would appreciate that.
- 1:42:47I love you, Randy. I love you, Randy, but I don't
- 1:42:49know, you know? But I, I, I, I think maybe if
- 1:42:53you did a little research, find out what happened to these
- 1:42:57people, if it was natural causes or, or if something was actually
- 1:43:00done wrong to them. They could be the third trying
- 1:43:05to get somebody to say somebody was murdered inside the house
- 1:43:13and they're they're trying to get somebody to solve this case.
- 1:43:17Yeah, there's a like scald, it works.
- 1:43:19Says maybe they want veneration of their own because they aren't
- 1:43:25getting any. Like there's that attention to
- 1:43:28kind of like what you just said, yeah, like, oh man, there's,
- 1:43:32there's this thing that happened and Oh my gosh, you know, like
- 1:43:35this happened here and I, I can't leave.
- 1:43:37I can't be at rest. I can't, I can't, you know,
- 1:43:42whatever until this whole problem is solved or this whole
- 1:43:45situation is figured out. There's something tying them
- 1:43:49still to this mortal realm and not allowing them to to, to pass
- 1:43:54into the spirit realm. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:44:00When in doubt, found a When in doubt, find a brown guy like me,
- 1:44:09Godfrey Bear. You know, if that's what it
- 1:44:14takes. So Cowboy on YouTube says so.
- 1:44:20My friend got me a book called Odin's Chosen.
- 1:44:24I haven't looked at it yet. What's your guy's input on it?
- 1:44:31Odin's chosen. Never heard of it.
- 1:44:35Neither have I. Don't know it, don't know her,
- 1:44:37never heard of her. Here's the thing I feel like a
- 1:44:44lot of people get, you know, they'll they'll jump on live
- 1:44:50streams like this or the other, or they'll come into comment
- 1:44:52sections and they'll ask about, Hey, what do you think about
- 1:44:54this book, this thing that the other source or whatever.
- 1:44:58Listen, I'm not an individual. I'm not a person that's going to
- 1:45:03tell you to to not read something.
- 1:45:08Go for it. If you want to read and you want
- 1:45:12to learn something about something, just read it.
- 1:45:21I mean, just do it. Like, I mean, I don't know,
- 1:45:25Odin's chosen. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm doing a quick
- 1:45:30online search and I'm not finding anything with that title
- 1:45:34that suggests a red flag of any sort.
- 1:45:37So I mean, they, and also bear in mind that a lot of
- 1:45:41contemporary sources, which likely Odin's chosen is, is
- 1:45:49going to be rife with UPG. OK, unverified personal gnosis.
- 1:45:54They may include some historical sources of things throughout.
- 1:45:59I don't know, 'cause I'd never heard of this source and I don't
- 1:46:02know. But at this point, like, you
- 1:46:04know, hey, if you, if you're, if you, if you were given this
- 1:46:08book, read it and do your, do your own research.
- 1:46:12Do your own. You know, if you read something
- 1:46:15and it sounds interesting, find out about the validity of it
- 1:46:20from perhaps a historical aspect.
- 1:46:22I'm not telling you that that's the way you should always go
- 1:46:25with things, because there's plenty of stuff that exists
- 1:46:27within the UPG realm that is valid, but just realize that
- 1:46:31there are plenty of authors that publish things trying to pitch
- 1:46:39their UPG as fact or as historical background of things.
- 1:46:44Don't buy into the and don't don't don't drink the kool-aid.
- 1:46:48Don't get lost in the sauce. Do your own deal due diligence
- 1:46:53with with it all. That would be my recommendation.
- 1:47:02Skuldigworks says there's a timeline between spirits of the
- 1:47:04house and land and spirits of past humans.
- 1:47:07Yeah, sure, there's a timeline because again, there you know,
- 1:47:10the, the existence of, of a family that lives in a space
- 1:47:15versus the, the, you know, the, the spirit of the land that
- 1:47:20exists or, or resides around the space.
- 1:47:26You're gonna get, you're gonna find conflicting thoughts about
- 1:47:31house spirits, Husvatir, Tomte, the gnomes, the, the, the, the,
- 1:47:36the, the, the, the, the, the Husvatir.
- 1:47:39Are you gonna find conflicting opinions and thoughts about
- 1:47:43those spirits and whether those spirits reside with the home or
- 1:47:47do they up and leave with the family that departs, or do they
- 1:47:50stay there and this and that? I think most of that degree of
- 1:47:58information resides in the folklore aspect of things.
- 1:48:03I don't think that there's really anything universally or
- 1:48:05even regionally covered yet that I know of that would, you know,
- 1:48:16surround the, the, the general overview of spirits of the house
- 1:48:22versus the land. There's there's a great source.
- 1:48:32Hold on just a second. Let me find it.
- 1:49:28None. OK, so sorry about that the this
- 1:49:33author. Let me see if I can get it on
- 1:49:38camera here. Probably not.
- 1:49:42Nope, no word to Jesse. OK, anyway, it's called Demons
- 1:49:50and Spirits of the Land, Ancestral Lore and Practices,
- 1:49:54and it's by Claude Le CO2. Hold on, let me let me do this
- 1:50:00right here in the comments. I'm going to post the name of
- 1:50:05the book of the Land by Claude Le.
- 1:50:19I don't speak French. They call to LECOUO
- 1:50:38UT there we go. So let's see here.
- 1:51:02Yeah, Demons and spirits of the land Claude Lecatu has done.
- 1:51:08He has a great like look up the author.
- 1:51:10Just look up Claude Lecatu Le Salton.
- 1:51:13I don't know, I don't speak French, but look up that author
- 1:51:18on Amazon and you'll find multiple books about folklore
- 1:51:23and, and, and stuff regarding house whites, land whites, you
- 1:51:29know, demons, spirits of the land, etcetera.
- 1:51:31This guy is a great source for for understanding that sort of
- 1:51:36thing on the folklore aspect of things.
- 1:51:46So OK, let me go back to sorry, I'm trying to catch up on some
- 1:51:57comments here. Let me go back up here.
- 1:52:07This dish that didn't ghost. Oh, by the awesome true
- 1:52:22alliance. Yeah, listen, cowboy on YouTube.
- 1:52:25Awesome true alliance. I I, you know, look, they, they,
- 1:52:29they tend to have an unsavory history if it's the same also
- 1:52:35true alliance that I'm thinking of that has affiliations or
- 1:52:39associations with Stephen Mcmowan.
- 1:52:41But again, read what you want to read.
- 1:52:45Research what you want to research.
- 1:52:46Do your due diligence. Randy, Randy, Randy, Randy.
- 1:52:59I'm on YouTube now. Send me the dish, Ghost, not the
- 1:53:03evil 1. I don't know.
- 1:53:06All right, Voodoo Viking says that goblins are good for doing
- 1:53:11tasks for you. Just remember, they're chaotic
- 1:53:13and naughty. OK, That's folklore.
- 1:53:16Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:53:18Put the name to the thing and and boom, there you go.
- 1:53:22I don't know what the guy's situation is, but wouldn't it be
- 1:53:25better to venerate the land Viteer outside?
- 1:53:31OK, so this this this again goes back to the Germanic heathen
- 1:53:39approach to veneration. It it it's widely believed and
- 1:53:46it's widely understood and known that that the Germanic peoples
- 1:53:49venerated their gods and their deities outdoors in sacred
- 1:53:52Groves. Multiple sources support this.
- 1:54:00So they, they were not an indoor sanctuary churchy, you know,
- 1:54:06Hough assembly type people. They, they, they did their
- 1:54:11religious practices and, and they venerated their spirits and
- 1:54:15their deity outdoors in sacred Groves.
- 1:54:20If you look at the, the, the, the, the desecration of sacred
- 1:54:25sites like Donar's oak and the Edermansul by the Franks under
- 1:54:29Charlemagne, the this, this reflects that these were, these
- 1:54:35were direct acts of, of desecration to sacred sites in
- 1:54:42history in continental dramatic lands where trees were cut down,
- 1:54:47sacred trees like oak and ash. These these were trees of, of
- 1:54:51their variety. The oak and the ash were, were,
- 1:54:54were trees that were seen as sacred.
- 1:54:56You know, so, so, so when the Franks came in under
- 1:54:58Charlemagne's retinue, they, they, they, they, they would go
- 1:55:03in and they would, or when they did desecrate these lands and in
- 1:55:08these sacred sites, they were outdoors, trees and places that
- 1:55:13were considered sacred to the Germanic tribes.
- 1:55:25Yeah, Return of the Dead by Claude Likatu.
- 1:55:27There's another one and I have it somewhere.
- 1:55:30I just don't have it on my shelf.
- 1:55:31I didn't want to step away too long, but there's another one by
- 1:55:34Claude Likatu that has to do with the house spirits and
- 1:55:39stuff. And it's, it's very good.
- 1:55:41He's a good source. Please, if you're, if you're a
- 1:55:43heathen looking to adopt and, and and practice very heathen
- 1:55:49centric values and things of of of folklore, check out his
- 1:55:55books. All right, Voodoo Viking gotta
- 1:56:00go. Next live stream should be like
- 1:56:02living in Seattle, NOLA to Seattle motorcycle road trip.
- 1:56:07Well, that's a heck of a trick from New Orleans to Seattle,
- 1:56:11dude. That's that's, that's a good
- 1:56:132000 miles or so. So safe travels to you and we'll
- 1:56:16see you on the next one. Thank you for for being here.
- 1:56:21Cowboy on YouTube says just right up on them.
- 1:56:23Don't want anything to do with them.
- 1:56:24Meaning the ASA true alliance. That's not at all what I
- 1:56:27believe. So I'm staying clear of the ASA
- 1:56:30true alliance. Listen, I don't disagree with
- 1:56:35you on that. Good on you for for finding that
- 1:56:40of yourself. But again, I'm not.
- 1:56:42I'm not sitting here on my platform and in my space to try
- 1:56:45to dissuade people from not finding information from certain
- 1:56:51sources or not like you know, from finding it or not.
- 1:56:54Do your due diligence understand right.
- 1:56:57Like there's some unsavory things that get associated with
- 1:57:00a lot of bigger national organizations, whether they are
- 1:57:06the truth, whether they are the ASA true alliance, whether they
- 1:57:09are the AFA, whether they are attack.
- 1:57:11OK, there's, there's, there's plenty of of stuff that you
- 1:57:17know, you'll you'll find that just is as unsavory in in all
- 1:57:20regards. Take it or leave it.
- 1:57:28Truth is truth. You know, truth is truth.
- 1:57:36It doesn't exist under the banner of any color, creed or
- 1:57:41belief. It just is what it is, right
- 1:57:45Adam? Yes, Sir.
- 1:57:49I mean I, I mean, you don't have to agree with me, but would
- 1:57:52would. You say that the.
- 1:57:54Truth exists under regardless of color, creed, or.
- 1:57:58Yeah, it does. It it, it does.
- 1:58:01It does. Because you've been a part of
- 1:58:03something that transcends cultural boundaries.
- 1:58:07You've been a part of the fire on the mountain retreat.
- 1:58:09You, you know, you get to see and experience things that are
- 1:58:13meaningful towards the growth of a community that again,
- 1:58:17transcend a, a cultural barrier. It's shared in confidence, it's
- 1:58:24shared in stagnarity, it's shared in genuinity, it's shared
- 1:58:27in love, and it's shared with the intent and with the purpose.
- 1:58:32Not just the intent with the purpose of growth and expansion
- 1:58:37and health, because that's what's needed right there.
- 1:58:41There's this knee, there's this, there's this what's the rune now
- 1:58:52these the need fire. You know that that that that
- 1:58:56need fire that exists, that that burns that fire that we all see
- 1:59:00regardless of barriers that are set up culturally.
- 1:59:03We we can see that fire from a distance and that need and that
- 1:59:07need fire exists to be a beacon of hope.
- 1:59:13It it to be a beacon of. Understanding.
- 1:59:18Yeah, yeah. Hope, understanding, you know,
- 1:59:22resilience, knowledge, wisdom. Persistence.
- 1:59:30Yeah, persistence. Thank you to Cowboy on YouTube.
- 1:59:36Yeah, said it. Well, thank you.
- 1:59:40Thank you for the dialogue. Thank you for giving us a chance
- 1:59:42to to consider and think about these things.
- 1:59:45All information is valid as long as you can filter out the weeds.
- 1:59:52And Matthew, Sarah says that are you guys interested in talking
- 1:59:56about some of the things that you did in the past?
- 1:59:59Fire on the mountain? To a certain degree, to a very
- 2:00:12limited degree, I think Adam would, would, would share in
- 2:00:17that sentiment to a very limited degree, yeah.
- 2:00:22Yeah. So, you know, it's, it's, it's
- 2:00:24no, it's no, you know, it's no, they're, they're, they're, we're
- 2:00:33not hiding the fact that that, you know, fire on the mountain
- 2:00:35is a thing. And, and we were our
- 2:00:37participants of it, you know, So in terms of talking about some
- 2:00:46of the things that we did, Adam, I, you know, I feel like I'm
- 2:00:52comfortable with talking about some of the things that we did
- 2:00:54in the sense that we really found each other's sense of grit
- 2:01:03with people who you have never met before.
- 2:01:06Because, you know, I've been involved with Fire in the
- 2:01:10mountain for the last few four years, going on five years.
- 2:01:13And this was your first. So in comparison to things that
- 2:01:21happened this year, you know, you got to see it first hand for
- 2:01:26the first time what that was like.
- 2:01:33I have several years of of past experiences that I can reflect
- 2:01:37on and compare. But I think I think to
- 2:01:45Matthew's, you know, question in talking about some of the things
- 2:01:49that did happen, what would you be comfortable with with with
- 2:01:57talking about? I would have to say that like
- 2:02:07some of the rituals that we went through need to stay with us.
- 2:02:15The, the camaraderie with you and the others that were there,
- 2:02:28the, the, the feasting together, the, the fellowship that we had
- 2:02:34that I don't mind talking about at all.
- 2:02:36I mean, I consider every, every man that was there as a brother.
- 2:02:41Now, whether you know, they don't think if, if they don't
- 2:02:47say it or not to me, we share it in something that no other group
- 2:02:52of guys have have been involved in.
- 2:02:54So it brings us more together as our own, so to speak, tribe, for
- 2:03:02a better lack of the term. Now I did enjoy the Brown Brown
- 2:03:08Lights Festival with you where we got on stage and did a little
- 2:03:11drumming. That was cool.
- 2:03:12That that was pretty cool. Yeah, that was cool.
- 2:03:16And we never follow Bjorn's low key GPS again.
- 2:03:22Yeah, that was fun. You know, it's fun looking back
- 2:03:26on it, but you know, in the moment and it was like, what the
- 2:03:29fuck what, what what's going on here?
- 2:03:34But I think, you know, overall, just just just from the the the
- 2:03:39the the spirit of the retreat this year, you know, as a
- 2:03:44sponsor of the event and not as the overall official
- 2:03:48spokesperson of said event, because I'm just a participant
- 2:03:52and A and A and a Co founder of it with, with this year's
- 2:03:56retreat being themed Spirit Rd. And Speaking of we have Patrick
- 2:04:07rejoining. Yeah, with with with this year's
- 2:04:11retreat being themed Spirit Rd. It was it, it carried.
- 2:04:17It was almost like the the, the the nature of this year's
- 2:04:22retreat for Far in the Mountain was set before we hit the road.
- 2:04:29And while we hit the road, everything about what Spirit Rd.
- 2:04:33Represented and meant for this year's retreat was laid down for
- 2:04:41us from the travel challenges to the GPS, you know, tomfoolery to
- 2:04:51just everything that happened along the way during those days
- 2:04:56on the retreat, you know, And then for you, Patrick, while you
- 2:05:03since you just joined Matthew Cera was asking, are you guys
- 2:05:07interested in talking about some of the things that you did in
- 2:05:10this past fire on the mountain? There are definitely some things
- 2:05:15that are private and and are kept secluded and and kept
- 2:05:20private for for obvious reasons. But like, like Adam was saying,
- 2:05:27you know, the, the traveling up to, up to the retreat, you know,
- 2:05:33getting from point A to point B, some of the ritual aspects of
- 2:05:39it, you know, it's transformative.
- 2:05:44It's, I don't know, I, you know, maybe I'm speaking just out of
- 2:05:50my own experience from the last, you know, four years.
- 2:05:53But you know, we got one man here who has experienced it
- 2:05:56once. And we have, you know, another
- 2:05:59man here he just dropped, but we have another man here who's
- 2:06:03experienced it twice. So, you know, fire in the
- 2:06:10mountain is its own thing each year with its theme and stuff.
- 2:06:13But but Patrick, you know, like your, your, your experience
- 2:06:18since Matthew asked and you know, he, he sees your content
- 2:06:21and he sees your stuff too. You know anything that you want
- 2:06:23to add to, to to your experience to it, feel free to share within
- 2:06:33the within the degree that you want to.
- 2:06:43You're you're muted, Patrick. Let me, let me see if you can
- 2:06:45unmute there. Try to unmute yourself.
- 2:06:48Yeah. Well, there you go.
- 2:06:49There you go. Yeah, alright, cool.
- 2:06:51Thank you. Yeah, within reason, of course.
- 2:06:57Honestly, it's strange to miss seeing to anyone listening.
- 2:07:00My favorite part is getting there.
- 2:07:04All the money, all the time and energy it takes to get there is
- 2:07:10one of the fair parts because like it reminds me of the first
- 2:07:15time I visit you, not far the mountain, but just the first
- 2:07:19time seeing you and my car issues.
- 2:07:23All the the fuck Reeve with my car.
- 2:07:27You know, I was like, Oh my God, I'm like an hour away from Jesse
- 2:07:32and it's crapping on me. Why, why, why?
- 2:07:35But when I got there, it was all the more beautiful.
- 2:07:39It's just, again, that struggle really met with great company
- 2:07:45and great memories. And that kind of coincides with
- 2:07:48Spirit Rd. in a way because we make plans, we set up
- 2:07:54objectives. And I feel like the more
- 2:07:58struggles it takes to get to that point makes it more
- 2:08:03meaningful because we take that all of us, all of our parts of
- 2:08:09ourselves to make that possible. Which is truly amazing.
- 2:08:13But also more to the meat and potatoes of far the Mountain is
- 2:08:18spending time with like minded men, individuals who vary on
- 2:08:25their walks, fly to meet on common ground.
- 2:08:30To share ourselves, our experiences and who we are as
- 2:08:34individuals is truly a life changing experience.
- 2:08:38Again, as a two time participant of Fire the Mountain, I stand
- 2:08:45true to that each time. And I Remember Me and you
- 2:08:49discuss, you know, each time was special and amazing and it felt
- 2:08:56right, you know? And that's with any time we
- 2:08:59visit a friend, a loved one, it's never the same the first
- 2:09:03time. And they seem similar, yeah, but
- 2:09:07collectively and all together, it's a special experience.
- 2:09:13Yeah, it is, yeah. And that's, that's the beauty of
- 2:09:17of Fire on the Mountain, right? Like it's, it is a special
- 2:09:20experience and it's something that the, the, the planning
- 2:09:26committee, the planning board, you know, is going to be meeting
- 2:09:29on very soon about to, to, to plan next year's event.
- 2:09:37So thank you, Matthew, for asking.
- 2:09:39But yeah, there, there's, you know, there, there was a lot
- 2:09:42that was experienced on this year's retreat.
- 2:09:50And this isn't the platform, this isn't space to to to get
- 2:09:56into great detail about it with and it's not in, you know, in
- 2:10:04any specific or, or particular focus on, on neglecting people,
- 2:10:08you know what I mean? Or, or, or or keeping people out
- 2:10:10of it. This is preserving the the
- 2:10:15sanctity and the sovereignty of the event and the integrity of
- 2:10:20it. Yeah, absolutely.
- 2:10:23So it was, it was, it is, you know, fire in the mountain is
- 2:10:31has been transformative every year that I've been a part of
- 2:10:33it. And Patrick, you know, this is
- 2:10:35your second year. It's a transformative retreat in
- 2:10:41one way, form or fashion, It's it's transformative.
- 2:10:45It changes the people, you know, it makes an impact on our spirit
- 2:10:55when we attend these things and when we interact with people
- 2:10:58that attend these things. And it's beautiful.
- 2:11:01It's, it's, I think it's been a beautiful thing over the last
- 2:11:05several years. You know, four are going on five
- 2:11:08years now. So where the retreat goes into
- 2:11:15year five and how we we progress with it, you know, kind of
- 2:11:20remains to be seen. But yeah.
- 2:11:27And you know, no disrespect taken at all, Matthew, by asking
- 2:11:33about it. I you know, this is this is
- 2:11:35something expected. And, and we want to do we, we,
- 2:11:40we want to do the retreat proper honor and we want, we want, we
- 2:11:46want to give proper respect and honor to the, to the nature of
- 2:11:50it by by preserving its sanctity by, by preserving its sacredness
- 2:11:57of it. And and and such by, you know,
- 2:12:02talking more about it in in in detail, in the right way, so.
- 2:12:07And I feel like in the way, Jesse, if you don't mind me
- 2:12:10saying, this is celebration and individual practice.
- 2:12:15Going back to full circle, what I said earlier about the person
- 2:12:18who mentioned, you know, being a Salter solitary practitioner, in
- 2:12:23a lot of ways, it's very beautiful being a solar
- 2:12:26practitioner because you keep things sacred.
- 2:12:29But I've learned along the way on my journey as a heathen, as a
- 2:12:33Norse Pagan, is sometimes those special moments we have.
- 2:12:41It needs to be between yourself and great spirit, your gods,
- 2:12:47your ancestors. And trust me, me personally,
- 2:12:51that's Patrick. I've had several moments I
- 2:12:54wanted to share with everybody, but I knew my heart.
- 2:12:59It's meant to be between you and that that deity, that memory,
- 2:13:06that that life force, right sacred because I hate to use
- 2:13:12this phrase or quote, but pearls before swine because you share
- 2:13:18it with social media. It takes this and makes it this
- 2:13:25because people knowingly or unknowingly take away interpret
- 2:13:30it as they will. And again, Jesse, I can always
- 2:13:35say so much, you as a, you know, content creator, you share a lot
- 2:13:42of yourself, and I'm sure that's taking its toll on you as well.
- 2:13:46I can imagine how tricky and how hard it is to traverse that
- 2:13:51landscape. And I commend you very much,
- 2:13:54Jesse, as a follower, a brother, as a friend.
- 2:13:58You know, you have made great strides, especially with You 2,
- 2:14:04you know, 'cause that's where I found you first.
- 2:14:07You choked. There's some hurdles, you know,
- 2:14:09we had when we were first hanging out.
- 2:14:11You had an opportunity, you dismissed it.
- 2:14:14You kept sacred what is sacred. You made time for what is
- 2:14:18important. And I'll never forget that.
- 2:14:21And that's something again to all those who are watching,
- 2:14:25Keeping sacred sacred can go in so many different ways.
- 2:14:29That special moment, time with friends, family, you know, it's
- 2:14:32great sharing things. Trust me, I know the feeling,
- 2:14:36but sometimes, you know, I feel a certain way about it, like
- 2:14:39maybe I shouldn't share that post.
- 2:14:41Maybe I shouldn't share this, that and the other, you know,
- 2:14:44it's a learning experience. You learn as you go, you grow
- 2:14:47and you develop, you know? Yeah, yeah, it is tricky.
- 2:14:52You know, sometimes you get caught up in the the moment of
- 2:14:57an audience, you know what I mean?
- 2:14:59And you want to, you know, connect with that audience.
- 2:15:04And, you know, sometimes the, the, the, the material that you
- 2:15:09feel inspired to share isn't intended for that audience.
- 2:15:12It's intended for a lesser audience, intended for some
- 2:15:15other audience. But it's.
- 2:15:16Like you're just yourself, yeah. Yeah, One quick question before
- 2:15:21we get wrapping things up because it's getting late.
- 2:15:24I would do you want to take one more question?
- 2:15:26So Connie Watson on Facebook asks, what is your favorite Yule
- 2:15:32tradition? That's a great question,
- 2:15:37Patrick. Do you have any particular
- 2:15:39favorite Yule traditions that you subscribe to or follow or do
- 2:15:43well? It's a really great question.
- 2:15:47I love that question. Thank you for asking separately
- 2:15:51and collectively. Separately, it's making time to
- 2:15:56visit very special people like Cliff him and I have separate
- 2:16:01the occasion. But more importantly, my
- 2:16:04favorite part of Yule is making time for sacred, which I feel
- 2:16:08like should be a regular practice.
- 2:16:09But you know, it's that special time of year, you know, dismiss
- 2:16:15whatever holidays that overlap ours.
- 2:16:20It's just that unity. And I feel like just like
- 2:16:23Halloween Samhain, the veils very thin and I feel like a lot
- 2:16:29of us can feel that energy. I feel it right now as though
- 2:16:34I've been going through hardships despite me going
- 2:16:36through hardships, I feel that support, that full ship, that,
- 2:16:42that connection with my gods, our gods, you know, just that
- 2:16:46sacred time to really, really make that specific time again,
- 2:16:53to separate the profane from the mundane.
- 2:16:57I hope I got that right, but just, you know, sacred from the
- 2:17:01mundane and just making these ties to celebrate, venerate not
- 2:17:08only our accomplishments, but understanding our struggles to
- 2:17:13come where we are today. That's my favorite part.
- 2:17:16Thank you again for the opportunity for asking, for
- 2:17:18answering that question. Yeah, I, I would say that for me
- 2:17:25and, and for ours, you know, you'll, we, we, we observe,
- 2:17:30you'll my tribe, you know, we, we observe Yule on the, on the
- 2:17:37historical pre Christian reckoning of time.
- 2:17:40So our Yule celebrations won't happen until next month on the
- 2:17:46next full moon. And it is a midwinter bloat.
- 2:17:51Yule was for the Germanic heathens, a midwinter bloat.
- 2:18:01The pre Christian Germanic heathen would observe three
- 2:18:05major holy tides. They would do a winter night
- 2:18:08celebration, which was their new year.
- 2:18:11They would do a midwinter celebration, which was Yule.
- 2:18:13And they would do a victory bloat in the summer, which was
- 2:18:16the seger bloat on their on their on their, you know,
- 2:18:19summertime celebration. So midwinter for us and then my
- 2:18:24tribe celebration is a time to celebrate our survival of the
- 2:18:31darker days and longer nights, because at this point in time,
- 2:18:38we are in the midwinter period of time.
- 2:18:42So days will be progressively getting longer.
- 2:18:45The, the, the, the daylight will be longer, the nights will be
- 2:18:49shorter progressively. So we, we, we, we, we celebrate
- 2:18:54that as, as a time of, you know, we, we look, we look inward, we
- 2:18:59look inward to our hearts and to our homes and we and we
- 2:19:02celebrate that through the exchange of gifts, through
- 2:19:06feasting. We have a stumble, We do stumble
- 2:19:10at Yule. The oaths that are sworn at Yule
- 2:19:13are particularly powerful because of, of historical
- 2:19:19sources that suggest as such that, that, you know, the oaths
- 2:19:23sworn over the bore at Yule. We're, we're, we're particularly
- 2:19:27powerful. So, you know, we, we take
- 2:19:29advantage of those opportunities.
- 2:19:30So we, we, we enjoy gift giving, we enjoy fellowship, we enjoy
- 2:19:38laughter. We do stumble.
- 2:19:42So those are our, you know, favorite Yule traditions.
- 2:19:46Our, our particular, you know, try we, we do like a, you know,
- 2:19:49a dirty Santa sort of gift thing where we call it instead of
- 2:19:53dirty Santa, we call it filthy fimble tier.
- 2:19:56It's fimble tier is, is one of the names of Odin.
- 2:19:58You know, So we, we, we instead of dirty Santa, we say filthy
- 2:20:01fimble tier. It's like an, you know, bit of
- 2:20:02a, a canning, a poetic nod to Odin.
- 2:20:07So we do we we we follow the same rules of of Dirty Santa,
- 2:20:11but we do it under the name of Filthy Fimble Tier I.
- 2:20:14Love that. Yeah, yeah, and, and cowboy on
- 2:20:18YouTube says yeah, spend time with friends, family, burning of
- 2:20:21the Yule log. We do have a Yule log.
- 2:20:23My tribe does every year at Yule in our Yule fire, in our sacred
- 2:20:29fire, we, we retrieve a piece of that sacred fire, so a, a, a
- 2:20:35partially burned log and we retain that.
- 2:20:39We, we save that for the next year's Yule.
- 2:20:43So in our upcoming you'll, the previous year's you'll log the
- 2:20:54partially burned piece of wood that was saved from our sacred
- 2:20:59fire from last year's you'll or from, you know, the 2024 you'll
- 2:21:04will be, will be used to ignite the fire of the 2025 you'll.
- 2:21:10And then from that fire, we will preserve and save a piece of
- 2:21:15partially burned wood and use it to burn 2026.
- 2:21:21And, you know, the next year's midwinter, you'll fire.
- 2:21:24So that's our cultic practice. That is our tribal practice.
- 2:21:28That's what we do. Yeah.
- 2:21:33So, yeah. Have a good night to you, cowboy
- 2:21:37and YouTube. Hail the gods, hail the
- 2:21:39goddesses and hail the way, whatever that may be and looking
- 2:21:44forward to the next live stream. Thank you so very much The next
