- 7:06[SPEAKER_13]: got across the parking lot and I don't know if it just doesn't want a lot up and we're going to have a cold cold weekend.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_13]: So you know I always say I'll actually it's a big storm across big parts of the country.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_13]: They're in Appalachia, snow, southeast, ice.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_13]: Ice-possible in Arkansas and Texas in fact I saw some video of a supermarket in Dallas and the shelves were just cleared out of bread and everything.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_13]: Who does that?
- 7:45[SPEAKER_13]: All right, I mean sure, I mean you do a storm is coming this week so maybe a buy-and-extra this or that but who runs down?
- 7:56[SPEAKER_13]: I've got to have every ice scraper in the hardware store.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_13]: I have to have all the rock salt.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_13]: And I'm old man, winter.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_13]: Now if you live out in the hinterland, and you might have a higher probability of power failure, you'll hopefully your general act is ready to go.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_13]: But we city folks, can't, it's not a question to begin with before, and it's a question of being able to justify it.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_13]: You know, there's just a number of power failures.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_13]: It was one a couple of years ago, one night.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_13]: uh... but other than that that was only at the house not the far so i could go over there so and what to say uh... we have uh... you know i have peeps out there who have big generators but uh... so see anything bad happening here but if you're on the interlands be careful and check on uh... certainly with
- 9:01[SPEAKER_13]: So just shove the kids out the back door, all of that.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_13]: So, it's usual because I'm not saying now, I'm not trying to do you serve the governor's role or Beth Hall's role.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_13]: I'm just pointing it out for those of you who are in a media silo in, see you're here with nothing else.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, that's watching TV here on a cable that's Jack Smith.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_13]: He looks sinister, you know, you know, something about you.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_13]: Let's see, somebody I do like who's on TV is John Moore.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_13]: More.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_13]: John Wesley Moore has announced his retirement.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_13]: Sometimes, over the winter to march somewhere in there, he's got his stop anchoring the news.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_13]: you'll be doing a couple days a week of reporting from St. Lawrence County and um... don't really know what else but what a loss the dean of North country broadcasting and uh... who's going to replace him that's the next parlor game yeah now we can talk about that in a minute but we do have a call right now good afternoon you're on the air
- 10:26[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, John Moore's a good guy, Mayor.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_13]: He is a good guy.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_15]: Classy director, we're sure of looking.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_13]: Kind of like the David Niven of Watertown.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, what I call about your opinion on the new street project mayor, good idea, bad idea.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_15]: Do it without bonding.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_13]: Well, I saw it.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_13]: That's a big, on-c捲.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_15]: 7.5.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_13]: at least I don't know um you want to open that street back up don't you mayor well I wanted to open up the part that's closed but they're not gonna do that no this is mostly infrastructure uh this is shown at a couple questions about up in the video seen the back a moment well he had the advantage of being able to vote no one because he knew the other four were voting yes so well I don't think he's that kind of guy seems like a smart guy you know
- 11:22[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, I don't think he did it just go against it.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_15]: I think he's got some good points.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_13]: Well, anyway, he and I's born right to vote against those V-hikes.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_13]: Here you're sitting there, badmouthing is new, every day.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_13]: It loses money.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_13]: We can't afford cards.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_13]: You know, something interesting.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_13]: I was talking to somebody who knows a thing or two about golf.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_13]: You know what?
- 11:50[SPEAKER_13]: a T sign is or something.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_13]: If you go up to a T, it's like a sign on a stick.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_13]: And it has a diagram of that hole as the distances from each T spot, the blue, whatever they are.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_13]: And the U.G.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_13]: has an add on.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_13]: And it's there for the whole season.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_13]: And U.S. Unifixards the thousand parks for the season, which is not bad.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_13]: I mean the city could sell those overnight.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_13]: I mean with all the vendors they have the banks they deal with engineering firms they should all buy one contractors suppliers it wouldn't be any work at all actually you could probably get more than a thousand each or you could sell it all looking for 500 I guess well
- 12:38[SPEAKER_13]: But if they're going to penny any of this and talk about little amounts of money like it's a big deal, at least makes some money.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_13]: I'd be $18,000, because I heard there's 18 holes on a course, and the flags and other things are too good.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_13]: This idea of selling the name of the golf club is lunacy, it's never going to happen, and
- 13:09[SPEAKER_13]: you giving up the branding to the park and everything else that's important to do to promote it.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_13]: So sell the T signs or whatever they call them and the flags and you know whatever else you wanted to do.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_13]: But you know and you could make a little bit of money that way, but they talk about the strangest things that city council meetings.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_13]: It's always like,
- 13:38[SPEAKER_13]: What can we do to those golf cards?
- 13:39[SPEAKER_13]: Get another season out of them.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_13]: I don't know.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_13]: I don't know what condition they're in, but you can't sit there and say we don't want tournaments.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_13]: I make the ludicrous statements.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_15]: I think that should we should be making money at tournaments.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_15]: They didn't make money on you.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_15]: You make your money over the bar.
- 13:55[UNKNOWN]: I'm sorry to say it, but that's the fact the life.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_13]: I hate to say it too.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_15]: You make your car.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_15]: You've money over the bar.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_15]: I love tournament.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_15]: I've been the numerous golf tournaments.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_13]: But they don't want to do it.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_15]: That's where you make you money over the bar, I'm sorry, that's just the way it is.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_15]: You know, it's a play golf, we had a few drinks already.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, you go in there a bar and that's the way it was.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_13]: You've got to run an actual golf club.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_13]: We've turned them into club houses and all.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_13]: If you want to have a little nine-hole butt thing up in Alex Bay for the tourists, that's one thing.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_13]: But this thing is like, they're not prepared to run that.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_15]: Well, they're going to have a part time super intended.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_15]: I don't know if that's going to work or not, I think you need a full time position if you want to be serious about it, you know?
- 14:45[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, you know, I mean, next thing, you know, they'll want to put, I don't know, McDonald's signs on the side of the fire trucks or something because they think they can get that corporate America who's got their notes stuck and look at the Navy, stadiums on a
- 15:02[SPEAKER_15]: uh... one other thing may what's given us and doing it's whistling this scuttle up and do it him he's a jerk what is he doing there california's running like our uh... garbage companies in Switzerland he's not going to win the nomination for them uh... i don't know if he goes there's seventy-five million people who will vote for him the same ones who thought about that guy in the white house he's an empty suit well i think i don't need it
- 15:31[SPEAKER_15]: background.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_15]: He's a loser, Mr. Trump calling him a loser.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_13]: He is what?
- 15:36[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_15]: He has no bits of soul over there.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_15]: There's nothing to do with him.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_13]: Well, there are people of California paid to send him, so.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, and Kamala Harris got the key to the city worse than Mississippi mayor.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, she wants to run again, too.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_15]: She was in charge of the border.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_15]: Will the job come alive?
- 16:07[SPEAKER_15]: You've had all these people in the country.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_15]: And that's why we have to get him to hell out of here.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_15]: That's the problem.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_15]: Why don't the boarders don't work?
- 16:15[SPEAKER_26]: Mm-hmm.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_15]: Stop pushing.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_15]: Let's see if Bobby gonna run again.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_13]: I know.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_13]: So what do you have?
- 16:24[SPEAKER_15]: It's a payback to DNC and she was about $20 billion.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_13]: Well, she bought a house in Malibu for $8.2 million.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_15]: You played Oprah Winfrey, who knows how much money is a banker in the last election?
- 16:37[SPEAKER_15]: Another thing, Mayor, I don't care what Hollywood people say.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_11]: Uh-huh.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_15]: When are they going to get that through the heads?
- 16:44[SPEAKER_15]: We don't care what these other touch rich people have to say about the country.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_15]: They're completely helicopter DM is smocked in this country.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_15]: And the Democrats don't get that through their heads.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_11]: Right.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_15]: Four.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_15]: Paul, you guys are Democrats in the midterms.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_15]: Their policies are ridiculous.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_15]: They're not going to work.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_15]: Mr. Trump gets a deal done with Greenland.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_15]: All we're going to go to war.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_15]: We're going to take it over by force.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_15]: What happened?
- 17:16[SPEAKER_15]: He caught a deal.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_15]: The man's a deal maker.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_15]: He knows business.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_15]: You have to know rich people to get things done.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_15]: He knows powerful people, Mayor.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_13]: Exactly.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_15]: How many times have I got to see it, you can't have a guy like Joe Biden, then there's nothing about business.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_13]: I agree.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_15]: And he doesn't take the paycheck every party.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_15]: He's doing it all his own time.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_11]: Hmm.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_15]: Trump doesn't take a paycheck for being in the White House.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_11]: No, but that and I don't.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_15]: I don't care about that.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_15]: 100 president Kennedy never took any money in the White House uh-huh back when you had a great democratic party is completely gone completely gone mayor again i'm new street i think in the name for what do you think don't know enough about the project it's a lot of money probably gonna end up costing more than that as far as creating a streetscape down there for some quote development that's nonsense what's down there now is fine
- 18:31[SPEAKER_13]: Now, if there's water and sewer pipes that need fixing fix them, and open up the part that's closed, could you do it without bonding?
- 18:40[SPEAKER_13]: Well, you have to pay for it out of whatever money you have, I assume they have, yeah, they have enough money to pay for it, but you're going to have to listen to Mr. Mills, you know, patternwalling about, oh well, you can't leave yourself too thin on money, yeah.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_15]: or one of the things, are you waiting for John on the show mayor?
- 19:01[SPEAKER_15]: You know, I asked him yesterday.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, I'd like to ask him, how is it if you're working for a liberal network like a channel 7 there?
- 19:08[SPEAKER_13]: No, what he can't, I don't think he can answer that, totally.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_15]: But I think he's still on the payroll there for a while.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, he's not probably going to.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_15]: John got fed up with it, be honest with you.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_13]: Well, I think he was ready to reach out here, right?
- 19:20[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, but I like to know what some of these meetings we're about here.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_15]: I'm really sorry, a channel 7 local news.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_15]: local news, everybody.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_15]: Not national news, local.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_15]: We got snowstorms coming in the area.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_15]: What are they waiting for?
- 19:36[SPEAKER_15]: Greenland.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_13]: Well, yeah, you got to lead with a story where you can pass Trump.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_15]: That's the, you could have an axe motor on a public square.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_15]: What are they waiting for?
- 19:49[SPEAKER_15]: Mr. Trump.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_15]: Okay, Mayor.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_13]: Okay.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_13]: Thanks a lot.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_15]: Thank you.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_13]: Bye now.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_13]: All right, another John, a number of John Morphans is epic, I'm sure.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_13]: I wonder if they'll have a big, some kind of event form.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_13]: Well, you get a certificate from City Hall or one of those coins.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_13]: What else could they give them?
- 20:18[SPEAKER_13]: Something.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_13]: You did a lot for the area, I mean, you know, I think I did.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_13]: I remember a year ago and running over the slife ox up in the bird or something like that.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_13]: He's quite the man about town.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_13]: You know, probably still is up there, I don't know.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_13]: I don't know.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_13]: Anyway, 755, you know, he'd be a good one to run for Congress.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, for that Republican nominee, Republicans are having trouble getting a candidate in the 21st.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_13]: Now I see the mule has ads on now.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_13]: And the other guy, smelling his campaign consists of telling it, you know, I'm a colonel.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_13]: I was a colonel.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_13]: Okay, you were a colonel.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_13]: I think he was a lieutenant colonel.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_13]: I don't care what he was.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_13]: I appreciate his service, but it's only ever says.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_13]: I see these solicitations for money on the internet.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_13]: He says, well, give money to the colonel.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_13]: I might give money to colonel, Saunders, but Sanders, but not, you know, I don't know who this guy is.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_13]: We interviewed him briefly, seemed very causal, I'm not, you know.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_13]: I just don't see him winning a Republican primary.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_13]: Now, maybe there's some cool nights out there, I mean, they'll probably uh, back them or something.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_13]: But, um, I don't know.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_13]: I got to figure that, uh,
- 21:47[SPEAKER_13]: on the basis of just campaign ads and enthusiasm that that constantino guys going to probably win the primer.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_13]: I don't know if he wins the general.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_13]: That's going to be a tough one.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_13]: But there's, if somebody says, how come that we probably can just have a candidate like the old days?
- 22:10[SPEAKER_13]: Well, they tried that in 2009 during that special.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_13]: when they tried the old school tried to get together and say he just goes to five as our candidate and all of that and then that blew up in their face but nowadays with a thirteen county district you can't there's no synergism or sense of one this or anything you know somebody comes out there from platsburg or johns town or somewhere roam or somewhere else seratoria
- 22:41[SPEAKER_13]: There's no sense of that person being a part of what we're a part of.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_13]: You have everybody talks about whether somebody lives in the district.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_13]: Well, if you live in the last guy, you're not in the district, but if you live in over on the Vermont border, you are in the district.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_13]: So none of that means that it's a big.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_13]: So I don't know what's going to happen there, but John Moore, he would be a good candidate for Congress.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_13]: And I'm going to say this right now.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_13]: I mean, I know he'd be too modest to say it, but if you put his name on the June ballot, primary ballot, I think he would win.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, I honestly do.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_13]: Just a thought.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_13]: Just a thought.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_13]: All right.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_13]: What else is wrong with it arguing over in England?
- 23:41[SPEAKER_13]: Prince Harry, I'm so tired of him and his crazy wife.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_13]: They're mad at the Daily Mail.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_13]: They're public figures.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_13]: They make all their money off being public figures.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_13]: We gotta write to say about them what we want.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_13]: Just like me, right?
- 23:57[SPEAKER_13]: I'm a public figure.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_13]: So if I get, I don't want to say in trouble for something or accused of something, it's news.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_13]: Now, 755-1240 is the phone number, if you'd like to give us a call to be on the show of shows today.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_13]: Animal cruelty charged filed against owner of a dangerously underweight dog, Cooper Street.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_13]: Don't have an animal out there.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_13]: about 25 pounds under weight.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_13]: Now, you know, you do want to keep your dog thin, but you still have to feed the darn thing.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_13]: So, let's see, here's why Kentucky Manage 37 accused of exchanging new the photos of a 13-year-old water town girl.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_13]: That's a stupid thing to do.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_13]: Well, Kentucky, what can you say?
- 25:05[SPEAKER_04]: uh... let's see what about it not much else going on but i can see other weather now how is the weather where you are falling some weather reports from around the hinterlands but after do there on the air yeah i want to go back a couple of days you were asking about local flower shops that deliverers any more for valentines or whatever there are a couple of it in the city that still do
- 25:34[SPEAKER_04]: one of them is on out in Washington Street between the I think it's a semoco or seven eleven gas station and you all it's way back in a little building I don't know if I'm allowed to say it's name or not yeah yeah I know there are a couple and then there's the lady uh... uh... ruckland up
- 25:53[SPEAKER_04]: Right, right.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_04]: But the other, the lady in Rottom works out of her home, but these other two people work out of their shops like Grace Flower Shop was.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_13]: And they have to remember what back when we had the New York Forest and the forest and the Stefanos and all those places.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_04]: I went out and coffee and street is owned by a descendants of one of the castros from the Castro Flower Shop era.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_04]: Way back.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_13]: But nobody sends flowers anymore, do they?
- 26:21[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_04]: It's pretty expensive, and I really don't know.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_13]: Now do you get, you ever get flowers?
- 26:28[SPEAKER_04]: Me?
- 26:28[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, from your kids or anything.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_04]: My gut flowers from cousins of my husband passed away a few years ago.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_04]: But, you know, that's the last time.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_13]: That's a shame that you can only get flowers because somebody passes away.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_04]: But I mean, like... Actually, I take that back.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_04]: I did get plants from my sister a few years ago.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_04]: But I discovered that I'm allergic to a lot of that indoor stuff.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_04]: It gives me bronchitis, so maybe anything anymore.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_13]: I go with plastic plants now, but you know, I don't know.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_13]: And I'm all there was alive.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_13]: I always sent flowers while they're staying.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_13]: Don't people don't do that anymore, do they?
- 27:07[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I never did that, so it doesn't matter anything.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, we know, we, we're probably.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_04]: But you know, I don't think I ever did know.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_13]: She always got a big thrill out of it, you know.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_04]: And the other comment I wanted to make was the gentleman, and I know who he is, called an all the negative comments about how horrible it was.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_04]: It's not.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_04]: We've been up there several times, and last year we were up in the fall, and it's the best shape I think I've ever seen it.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_04]: The keepers are very dedicated to the animals, they're happy to talk to anybody that's there.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_04]: The kids that were there when we were there were having a blast, they were waiting all over the place and just really enjoying themselves and the animals and it's
- 27:48[SPEAKER_04]: We were up there and you think oh it's so small and they only have a few exhibits we were up there for about three hours and didn't even realize that just walking around and standing around and you know seeing what was going on.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_04]: So it's really worth it and it's worth the investment and when you come out of there and you drive through the park and you sit back and you look and you say things like the zoo and the golf course and the pool are the park.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_04]: Without that, you have a grippy kill with a bunch of grass in a good view and some paths to walk on.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_04]: They don't make any kind of entertainment.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_13]: Yes.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_04]: As it were.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, I like it.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_04]: It's very nice to give great credit to the people that are keeping it running now.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_04]: They're very ambitious and they're very good at what they're doing and trying to accomplish.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_04]: And I think they need all the support and positive energy they can get.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_04]: Well, you know, I'm not against the zoo, I am frankly against the ownership model and but that can and can't be an issue because one of the big things with the city budget is all the legacy costs for city employees and if you make it a city asset or make a part of that.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_13]: But you know that's a funny thing because
- 29:07[SPEAKER_13]: It's a funny thing because basically what you're saying is we're setting these golf clubs or golf clubhouses and zoos up in this manner to circumvent having to use union labor.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_13]: I'll be a employee of unions.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_13]: Well, you can say that's great if you're whatever, but I don't know, I always thought that.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_13]: you know, usually if you're giving away to your distinction or something like that, you've got to negotiate the impact with the with the bargaining units and I don't forget ever happened.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_13]: So, you know, if you're a liberal and you believe in unions and workers and all that, you know, but if you're merely setting this up using nine union people just to just to pay them less, no, not necessarily.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think it's just to pay them less.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's too
- 29:57[SPEAKER_04]: circumvent the fact that you have somebody that's maybe 20 years old and by the time they're 40 they can't lift the bags of feet and take care of the heavy animals or anything anymore.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_04]: So they decide they've been there 20 years or whatever like teachers who can retire in their 50s, you're locked into a retirement medical costs and all that kind of stuff that's negotiated in years before you retire.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_04]: For paying for that and that's where a lot of our expense comes from.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_04]: When you think about it, the number of police men that started in their 20s and retired in their 40s, 50s, or, you know, a fireman and all that kind of thing that are locked in for years, to that kind of thing.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_04]: And that's where a lot of that expense comes from and nobody thinks about that.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_04]: you used to be you know everybody oh no i i agree with you legacy cost are the bane of government sure everybody retired when there were sixty five a few years ago and they may be lived ten or ten or fifteen years afterwards now people live twenty or thirty years afterwards on that retirement okay so any seven good time thank you yep i all right we're gonna do a break right
- 31:07[SPEAKER_20]: We just don't say it often enough.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_20]: Thank you for listening to the station that listens to you.

- 34:19[SPEAKER_20]: Depend on the news in talk authority, WATM, AM-1240.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_13]: AM-1240 is the, um, here we are on the air.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_13]: Getting lots of text messages with different people.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_13]: I mean, I don't know.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_13]: It's, um, somebody sent me some pictures of those.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_13]: Um, let's see, um, to do.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_13]: Go and Curry says John Moore will be the Steve Ducey of TV.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_13]: Seven.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_13]: He could be.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_13]: He could be.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_13]: But I wanted a who they're going to put in at five now.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_13]: They probably put, um, who's the guy who does the 11.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_13]: The blousky is that his name?
- 35:11[SPEAKER_13]: that they put him in at five or they get a couple other people who are i think that uh... who's the young lady you don't see much ever if you don't get job on the air yeah thinks he's like a managing editor somewhere other and uh... i think of who else i don't know it
- 35:39[SPEAKER_13]: It must be somebody there to do the five o'clock.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_13]: One thing's for sure, though, they can't be, they can't overshadow other angles.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_13]: So it's important that they be good enough to anchor, but not too good.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_13]: But after noon you're on the air.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_09]: Hi, I just wanted to kind of make a comment on the gentleman who called after me yesterday, so he felt unsafe at the zoo.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_09]: I believe he was referring to the drag shows that I think they put on a year or two ago at one of their bruises, which that being said, I will flat out say I'm not going to say that I agree with everything that the zoo and how it's ran is good, I'm not going to say I agree with everything I was done, I'm kind of like you where I do agree there needs to be maybe some of some changes with how it's run, but as far as being safe, I want
- 36:35[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_09]: And I mean, to think I will say that, you know, I want to ask that gentlemen, it was the last time you went to any of the playgrounds around Watertown.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_09]: I believe there's about 18 playgrounds around Watertown.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_09]: I went there last summer with all my nieces and nephews.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_09]: We counted.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_09]: Every single playground in the city of Watertown.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_09]: There's about 18.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_09]: Including the one that the school.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_09]: Or if you just walked around.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_09]: And as far as feeling unsafe, I'm more worried about getting stuck by a needle.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_09]: There's been used by somebody who's done heroin and has HIV or hepatitis.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_09]: which I guess that's not talked about there or there right now I don't think I've never I don't think there's I agree there's nothing unsafe up there but I mean as far you know so I mean as to say I'm safe like I said I'm I'm I'm not gonna sit here and defend the conservancy and say that everything that that they do is you know that is appropriate but I'm not gonna say you're safe I'm safe yeah well
- 37:33[SPEAKER_13]: Um, although I like to save money, I don't necessarily agree, and I don't mean to sound like a liberal.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_13]: I agree with the concept of structuring municipal services with an eye towards circumventing, um, union labor.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_13]: If we have public employee unions, and we do, it'd be like teaching one class at school with non-wispap teachers, I mean, you can't do it.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_13]: So that, I don't, I certainly agree with.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_13]: And I don't, I don't think there's any transparency with the current system either.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_13]: I mean, they come in or down.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_13]: Council gives them a hundred thousand, and then they sit there at a council meeting and they say to each other, well, you don't know how the previous hundred thousand will spend.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I guess when you lose the fence and I brought this up, I think back in November,
- 38:18[SPEAKER_09]: or end of October, the City Council meeting I spoke, and I said, that excuse only goes so far.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_09]: They've been using that excuse, they think now for almost two years, they don't know where the money went to.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_09]: And where is the City Council going and actually talking to the zoo about this?
- 38:32[SPEAKER_09]: As far as I'm aware, I think when I spoke and end of October, beginning of November, Kimbal says that he was going to go talk to the zoo and try to make an alliance with them beginning of the year.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_09]: I haven't heard anybody talk about that.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_09]: None, it feels like it's just kind of sat dead in the water.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_09]: So I almost feel like, you know, not necessarily bad, but I mean, so I don't like the due to the brown nose, the right people on the city council.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_09]: That's right to say it because, you know, as far as the new street, you know, they can approve over $7 million to fix the fixed street.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_09]: And, you know, I really kind of wonder who owns the business on that street that hasn't in on the city council.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_09]: That's really what I'm kind of questioning on it.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_09]: Because it seems like all these other little projects we had done cast,
- 39:12[SPEAKER_09]: no problem, but all of a sudden the zoo for at least two years, two years and seven kind of following the story along with it, it's the same excuse, and nobody wants to do anything about it, and as far as the building goes with the roof, it's almost like another nail in the coffee forum, and I'll be honest, I don't really know as far as what happened with the roof and everything, and did they know there was more problems with it?
- 39:36[SPEAKER_13]: I really don't know, and nobody says anything, there's no engineering report, there's no
- 39:42[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, that's the problem.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_09]: Like, you know, Dr. Irwin is a veterinarian.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_09]: He's not an architect or an engineer.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_09]: Some of you goes up and inspect the roof.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_09]: And, you know, I know that there was an issue before.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_09]: And the people have kind of stepped away in the blast as far as, you know, Tim Greeming, I think his name was.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_09]: And, you know, whoever the director was up there before, I'd be a member of his name.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_09]: But, you know, but, yeah.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, I think, and I've said it, and I don't people disagree with me, and I respect that, but I think if you're going to have that part, run it as one entity, have a park superintendent, and that's that.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I mean, I don't disagree with you.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_13]: And then there's synergism.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_13]: And then you can have coordination between different things.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_09]: And all of that stuff, cross-promotion, all of that.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_09]: Again, I don't feel like there is as much outcry to have the golf course as there is to do.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_09]: But for whatever reason, the C-Counters keep passing all this, my ass is keep doing this with the golf course.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_09]: That's the keep doing this with the golf course.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_09]: But again, maybe they're out there and I'm just not paying attention to it.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_09]: But it seems like everybody's really against the golf course.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_09]: And I have not really heard that.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_13]: Well, to a certain extent, you've got to look at it that things within parks and rack, it's about a $4 million department,
- 41:06[SPEAKER_13]: And it is tax money.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_13]: But that money spent to provide something considered valuable to the community, whether it's a playground, whether it's a softball field, whether it's a pickleball court or whatever it is, a pool.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_13]: So we can't sit there and try to do a P&L statement on each activity.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_13]: There are activities that we fund because we think they're worth funding.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_13]: Now that the golf course,
- 41:35[SPEAKER_13]: you know operations wise represents about five percent of i guess that four million dollars i don't know but everything loses money softball for your own money everything i guess i guess that's the thing i was like you know the new one out you think it's loot man you think it's not on our you think it's losing money because the city council and the media keep telling you that
- 42:02[SPEAKER_13]: I could point to any function that Parks and Rec does and says, you know, we lose money on a pickleball court, we lose money on a pool, we lose money on softball fields.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_13]: But the money is appropriated out of tax money or whatever because he's a considered valuable services that can be provided by government.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_13]: Now, whether you agree with that, it's another story.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_13]: And I remember one time using a guy who's talking to somebody who used to be a big
- 42:31[SPEAKER_13]: of ice skating and all of those programs.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_13]: And at one time, who was later, I went to that person and said, well, what do you think of ice skating in the arena and the lady said, oh, I don't care.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_13]: My kids have outgrown that.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_13]: So that's what it is.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_13]: If you like a certain thing, so it's okay, I don't know.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_13]: But,
- 42:55[SPEAKER_09]: Like I said, at the end of the day, it's not really, it's not, I feel like it's more who you know.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_09]: And at the end of the day, that's what it is.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_09]: You know, the zoo for whatever reason doesn't know the right people is what it really comes down to.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_09]: It's a city council.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_09]: Oh.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_09]: And I just said a lot of different, no, you know, radio did talk about it.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_09]: And again, I did not vote for a year.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_09]: I did not vote for a year.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_09]: I did not vote for a year.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_09]: But radio, I did bring out, I believe, at one point, the ads for the T signs.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_09]: And city council again shut it down.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_13]: And I, well, ideally, if you're going to sit, if you're going to make the argument that it's a city manager form of government, then the council shouldn't, the council shouldn't quote micromanage, I hear that term a lot, then the council shouldn't be getting into the middle of T signs.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_13]: Now, you know, if, if in a report to the council, the third floor wants to say, well, we think T signs are a good idea they're going to cross this, but you were appropriated, that's one thing.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_13]: I don't know, it's just crazy and as sometimes, but the real question is who should replace John Moore or anchoring the news at five o'clock?
- 44:03[SPEAKER_09]: Um, and I'm going to be quite honest, they don't know because they don't really watch seven news.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_09]: I tend to get most, you know, I look at news junkie, I listen to you, I listen to the live at five.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_09]: And I do work at some of the things on seven news when they have their advertising class across.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_13]: Well, okay.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_09]: I think I've been less than something, unless there's something really, you know, something really that spikes my interest.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_13]: All right.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_13]: All right.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_13]: Well, I'll let you go then.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_09]: Thank you.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_13]: I know.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_13]: You know, a couple of names to think of.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_13]: And listen, you can, everybody has their favors.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_13]: Less shockly, it does a nice job, anchoring.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_13]: There was.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_13]: he fills in here and there.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_13]: And I think it, it was Aaron Bishop, if I was trying to think of before.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_13]: Once in a while, she'd fill in for John or Cole or somebody, I thought she did a good job.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_13]: You know, a good presentation.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_13]: Don't know much about her.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_13]: Only matter, I think once in my life, I don't really know Mr. Shockley either.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_13]: All I know is, I'm just another viewer.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_13]: But I think they both look good on the air and, uh,
- 45:13[SPEAKER_13]: That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_20]: Okay, um, why don't we take time out, be right back.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_07]: Get into it and you'll be amazed what you get out of it.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_07]: I'm the best to get it here, Stanley Law.

- 45:37[SPEAKER_07]: I fly all the way out to Los Angeles, California, searching for this man.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_07]: We searched soup kitchens, rescue missions, skin row, Santa Monica here.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_07]: We finally found him.

- 49:42[SPEAKER_10]: Okay, good afternoon, Jeff.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_10]: I got it up up for you, boss.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_10]: First thing is maybe Emily Griffin, right?
- 49:51[SPEAKER_10]: She used to do that.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_10]: So I think maybe if they brought her back on board, she could take John's file or take somebody else's file that's moving down.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_10]: just a suggestion she did with job exhaust.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_10]: So the only thing is about to zoom.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_10]: I mean, isn't this city so part of that whole thing mowing along and all that stuff anyhow?
- 50:14[SPEAKER_10]: I mean, there are already paying people.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_10]: Don't they have a park super-entend that any how it got well or whatever runs the park?
- 50:25[SPEAKER_13]: Well, not specifically in terms of focusing on the event specific to the park, but I don't know, I listen.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_13]: Greater minds and I will decide this and we'll just see what the tax ideas and the spring.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_10]: Well, yeah, I guess my thought is maybe they can just expand some of these people that's already employed from the city to be able to do whatever.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_10]: You guys look at $100,000, how many people can you employ for $100,000 to be able to run the thing?
- 51:02[SPEAKER_10]: And then you still have the answer, so they keep going through the embers, the cheaper for the scene to pick up the tab and run it their own way, so there you go.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_13]: I don't know.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_13]: Well, there's different opinions, but again, it's not going to change from the way it is now.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_13]: The system is very well-scanced, and that's that.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_13]: So hey, listen, I got to run.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_13]: All right, that's true.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_13]: Hey, man.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_20]: Well, let's do a break, be right back.

- 54:24[SPEAKER_14]: Hey, Jeff.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_14]: I know you're going to disagree with me, but I don't like that you're a cheerleader for the fake gay news over at seven news.
- 54:33[SPEAKER_11]: I'm sorry.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_14]: They've done a terrible disservice towards the community with how they report the news and what they're
- 54:46[SPEAKER_13]: I'm not going to get into what you're going to get into.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_13]: So leave it.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_13]: If you're going to raise those issues, do it elsewhere.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_14]: All right.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_13]: I want to call it fake news again.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_14]: Fake news.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_14]: It's fake news.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_14]: Gay.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_13]: All right.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_13]: Thank you.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_13]: Thank you.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_13]: It's fake news with TDS Trump derangedments syndrome.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_13]: But not everybody has TDS over there.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_13]: Now we offered some suggestions here from our listeners on who to have fill in at five
- 55:14[SPEAKER_13]: I don't think they'll be listening to us, but, you know, but the names, there was Mark Mason Jr., there was Aaron Bischoff, and there was less shockingly with the names that were brought up, and if you want to vote for any of those, let us know.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_13]: I don't know if when they pick anchors at this level, whether they do research like testing, whether they hook people up to electrodes and show different anchors to them and see what kind of response that elicits.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_13]: So I don't know if that kind of research is done, but they choose to fill with John more leaving.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_13]: They choose.
- 56:10[SPEAKER_13]: And we'll just have to wait and see, I know they may
- 56:19[SPEAKER_13]: It'll definitely use somebody from within, I would think.
- 56:24[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, I doubt they're going to happen.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_13]: No.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_13]: They're looking to cut back the corporate and all that stuff.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_13]: So, I think that, well, I use one of the existing people, but the other, all those other people over there all the time, anyway.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_13]: So, why not use one, you're sitting in a chair for half an hour?
- 56:47[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah.
- 56:49[SPEAKER_13]: Um, let's see.
- 56:50[SPEAKER_13]: Um, let's, I mean, got it.
- 56:57[SPEAKER_13]: It's starting to somebody who went grocery to $500, man.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_13]: I'll tell you.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_13]: That was interesting.
- 57:07[SPEAKER_13]: I got into it yesterday at the end of the show about the, uh, hydroelectric plant, plant, and re-licensing.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_13]: Um, and some of the issues there.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_13]: I don't know where those get discussed much at City Hall,
- 57:21[SPEAKER_13]: It is kind of connected in there.
- 57:22[SPEAKER_13]: It's a complicated subject.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_13]: That's why it's hard to doesn't lend itself to talking about it on a radio or TV show.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_13]: That's for sure.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_13]: But the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has
- 57:37[SPEAKER_13]: warned the city again that it may be out of have some compliance issues they have some time to correct them till June so it's not end of the world but no somebody wants to know is John more retiring or moving on he's semi retiring is kind of like Steve Ducey he's going to do a little bit of reporting from uh... lizman couple days a week
- 58:04[SPEAKER_13]: sort of beef up the St. Lawrence County stuff.
- 58:07[SPEAKER_13]: And I don't know, so you know, I can still call him a tips, I guess.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_13]: You can relay it through the system.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_13]: But no, but he's just getting out of the air.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_13]: I knew for a while he was cutting back because he took himself off the Monday news.
- 58:23[SPEAKER_13]: Well, that's stuff.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_13]: So there you go.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_13]: But you'd be thinking about it.
- 58:30[SPEAKER_13]: We'll talk about it more tomorrow
- 58:34[SPEAKER_13]: I think you've got a right to express your opinion.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_13]: This shouldn't be the media elites deciding.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah, it should be the people.
- 58:44[SPEAKER_13]: The popularity contest anyway.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_13]: So let the people decide, OK?
- 58:50[SPEAKER_13]: Now I want you to be careful if you're all driving.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_13]: It's really like sketchy out there.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_13]: I came over here.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_13]: like he's snow pellets coming down and blow it all over.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_13]: I don't know what it's doing now.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_13]: I can't see out the window, but we're going to have some rough weather the next few days.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_13]: Wind, snow, bitter cold over the weekend.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_13]: All of it means reason to be cautious.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_13]: And you don't have to storm the supermarket, but you do have to be careful.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_13]: Now, somebody just text in how old it's gone.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_13]: one thing about the North country everybody goes up to somebody they grew up to like a like a female rest waitress or some how old are you not your business old man so uh... that's that he's had a long and distinguished career that's all i can say more than the rest of us right okay uh... that's a show for today i'm gonna go out drive carefully hope you do too you've been listening to the hotline do it on a community broadcaster station
- 59:56[SPEAKER_13]: We are, of course, AM-1240, WAT and Water.
