- 0:59poem
- 0:59did you know I write poems
- 1:02I did not
- 1:05and I am not surprised
- 1:07you didn't know
- 1:08oh yeah I like to write poems
- 1:10it doesn't surprise me at all
- 1:12you should read them sometime
- 1:13you seem like a poet
- 1:14I don't know if you want me to read them.
- 1:18You hate poems?
- 1:19I do hate poems for the most part.
- 1:22You would like my poems.
- 1:23Okay.
- 1:23They're really good.
- 1:24I'm sure I would.
- 1:25Yeah, and I tend to write shorter ones.
- 1:26Okay, that's good.
- 1:27Yeah.
- 1:29I don't know if I should feel bad about not liking poems.
- 1:33I think that I don't like a lot of poems.
- 1:37What did you say?
- 1:38Is that uncouth?
- 1:39Is that your word?
- 1:40Yeah.
- 1:41I really don't like a lot of poems and a lot of style of poetry.
- 1:44But I will find one where I'm like,
- 1:47I've been like moved to tears because of like a poem.
- 1:50So I think there is a poem for you.
- 1:52What does a poem do that prose doesn't?
- 1:56Well, it's just a kind of prose.
- 1:57It's just like structured in a different way.
- 2:00So I think it like,
- 2:03I think when you read poetry,
- 2:05you're in pursuit of a feeling.
- 2:10You like want to connect with something.
- 2:14In prose, I think you more get lost in, you know?
- 2:20What do I know?
- 2:22I've got ten poems.
- 2:24What if you read them and it's like,
- 2:26the sky is blue, blue as a color.
- 2:29I have no sisters, I have no brother.
- 2:33That's, oh my God, I'm crying.
- 2:35That's really good.
- 2:36It's a bad example because it's actually a really good poem.
- 2:38Listeners, don't steal that.
- 2:39They can't.
- 2:40It's copyrighted the minute it came out of my mouth.
- 2:42there a little copyright symbol after every word that coming out of your mouth yeah whoa look at all those big nutty C in circles Yeah I don know
- 2:57I think really well-written prose is,
- 2:59I can get my jollies from that.
- 3:03I can too, definitely.
- 3:04I just think, I don't know.
- 3:07I think poetry is,
- 3:09it just lends itself to just the shitty,
- 3:11like every
- 3:13teenage girl
- 3:17thinks that that's like
- 3:18a sophisticated advanced way to
- 3:21get out her feelings or whatever
- 3:22like I don't know
- 3:25I feel like it's too much of a
- 3:27normies think they can do it
- 3:31and do it well
- 3:32and
- 3:33I agree yeah
- 3:35they can't
- 3:36I've written bad poems I just don't publish those ones
- 3:39you shut your mouth
- 3:40where wait where are you publishing these i mean i post them i have a poetry account
- 3:45on instagram really yeah that i don't follow you i don't know do you i don't think i do i think i

- 4:02your i think no i don't i don't ever do that on my main account yeah that's not myself but i think
- 4:06I followed, oh, never mind. I don't want anyone to find me. Okay. It's a different persona. It's a
- 4:12chance for me to be someone else. Yeah. And now, improv. Margaret, Margaret, come here. What? I did
- 4:26it. I quit my job. Oh, oh my God. Yes. Oh, I can't believe it. That's great. You've hated that job.
- 4:33I know. Two weeks ago, I entered this poetry contest, and I won.
- 4:40Oh my God, congratulations.
- 4:43Yeah, so now I don't need that stupid job anymore. I'm a poet. I'm published.
- 4:47How much did it pay you?
- 4:49Sit down.
- 4:50Oh my God, this is exciting.
- 4:53$40.
- 4:55What?
- 4:56Margaret, this is fantastic.
- 4:59$40?
- 5:01Yes, I can fill up my car.
- 5:03once.
- 5:06Susan.
- 5:08Susan.
- 5:12You...
- 5:13You work...
- 5:17No, that's not enough.
- 5:18You...
- 5:19Huh?
- 5:20You quit a job
- 5:22where the company name is
- 5:24literally $40 an hour
- 5:27dog walking.
- 5:28That's the name of the company.
- 5:30You just quit one hour's worth of,
- 5:34because of one hour's worth of work.
- 5:36It wasn't my passion.
- 5:37But besides you don understand this Once you get published once you hot Everyone wants you I never have a problem again I don know about that I gotta be honest Susan
- 5:49I don't think I've ever seen a poem published one time.
- 5:53Where did they even get published?
- 5:55The Daily Star.
- 5:57Is that a real?
- 6:00That's a real paper?
- 6:01Yeah, it's one of the ones that you can get for free
- 6:03if you open the newspaper container.
- 6:05So how are they gonna be paying you?
- 6:07I trust that the money will come.
- 6:11All right.
- 6:13This is fantastic.
- 6:14I just feel so free.
- 6:15I think it's amazing that you got published.
- 6:19And it's a really big deal that they picked you out of how many different?
- 6:24Ten.
- 6:25Oh.
- 6:26Oh, out of just ten?
- 6:27Oh, yeah.
- 6:27That's even more impressive, actually, because there were nine other people.
- 6:33Yeah.
- 6:34No, I was thinking that was going to be like 3,000 or something.
- 6:36Well, the Daily Star of Toronto doesn't have a lot of...
- 6:40Well, there's not a lot of people in Toronto.
- 6:43Yeah, everything's digital these days.
- 6:45Also, not a lot of people like poetry.
- 6:48Yeah, most people don't.
- 6:49Yeah, but the ones that do, buy a lot of it.
- 6:52Do they really?
- 6:53Yeah, Margaret.
- 6:54All hoarders, that's what's in there.
- 6:57It's just poetry?
- 6:59Yeah, but they never show you that on the TV shows.
- 7:01No, they don't.
