Lucas: Today we're adding two more shapes to our collection — star and heart. Luna: Oh, fun! I love hearts and stars. How do you say star in Cantonese? Lucas: Star is 星形. Say it with me: 星形. Let's break it down: 呢個 means 'this', 係 means 'is', 星形 is 'star shape'. Repeat after me: 呢個係星形. Luna: 呢個係星形. Lucas: Great. And 'this is a heart shape' is 呢個係心形. Try it. Luna: 呢個係心形. Lucas: Wonderful. And if you want to say 'the heart shape is beautiful', you say 個心形好靚. 個 is a classifier for the shape, 好靚 means 'very beautiful'. Try it. Luna: 個心形好靚. Lucas: Perfect. Let's do a quick practice. Imagine you see a star drawn on a card. Luna: 呢個係星形. Lucas: Exactly. And if you see a heart on a balloon. Luna: 呢個係心形. Lucas: Nice. And if you think that heart is really pretty. Luna: 個心形好靚. Lucas: You've got it. Let's do a quick role play. I'm at a party and I see decorations. I point to a star and say...? Luna: 呢個係星形. Lucas: Right. And then I see a heart and say...? Luna: 呢個係心形.
