Speaker 3: bit later on, and Joe will update us on some

Speaker 3: things going on. Of course, next Tuesday is Veterans Day,

Speaker 3: All right, e Sports, we hear all about it. I
• 2:55
Speaker 3: don't necessarily know what it is, but a couple of
• 2:57
Speaker 3: guys who do are going to join us because they've
• 2:59
Speaker 3: got a big amig on in Charleston. Soon introduce yourself, fellows.
• 3:04
Speaker 5: Yeah, so I'm Isaac Comer. I am the Esports program
• 3:07
Speaker 5: coordinator here at ELMA Edge. I did this straight out
• 3:10
Speaker 5: of high school. I graduated from GW twenty twenty five
• 3:13
Speaker 5: and I started by playing Competitive Smash Bros. That's a
• 3:17
Speaker 5: video game one the Nintendo Switch.
• 3:18
Speaker 3: Ryan, by the way, is our is our gaming expert,
• 3:21
Speaker 3: our producer, Ryan Nicholson. So just say so, Ryan, you
• 3:24
Speaker 3: might want to grab the headphones because we might we
• 3:26
Speaker 3: might have some I might have a space for you
• 3:28
Speaker 3: in here. He actually does a gaming report on Metro
• 3:31
Speaker 3: News Hotline from time to time. So, so go ahead.
• 3:34
Speaker 3: I didn't mean to interrupt you, but as soon as
• 3:35
Speaker 3: you said that, I watched Ryan. You know, just you know,
• 3:40
Speaker 3: you got all excited in here. So so go ahead,
• 3:42
Speaker 3: go ahead and finish. I'm sorry.
• 3:43
Speaker 5: So, yeah, I got this opportunity straight out of high
• 3:46
Speaker 5: school just playing video games, and as the esports program
• 3:52
Speaker 5: coordinator here at ELMA Edge, I just want to see
• 3:53
Speaker 5: other people get the same opportunities that I have.
• 3:55
Speaker 3: And what about you, sir? Go ahead, introduce yourself.
• 3:57
Speaker 6: Yes, my name is Robert and I'm My title is
• 4:01
Speaker 6: esports coach, so I kind of assist with event coordination
• 4:04
Speaker 6: and planning and as well as player development.
• 4:08
Speaker 3: Esports coach. Now what does that entail.
• 4:11
Speaker 6: Well, just like with traditional sports, it takes practice and
• 4:15
Speaker 6: kind of like a building of muscle memory for the
• 4:18
Speaker 6: development of skill, and the same applies to esports. You know,
• 4:23
Speaker 6: learning how to space yourself, learning how to apply certain
• 4:27
Speaker 6: techniques in real time, that sort of thing.
• 4:30
Speaker 3: And this thing is huge, I mean, and look, games
• 4:33
Speaker 3: have always been around, you know, I'm a kid of
• 4:35
Speaker 3: the nineteen seventies. I remember, you know, when the Atari
• 4:38
Speaker 3: came out in television ollvisions. But this is a if
• 4:41
Speaker 3: you're an old guy like me, what you guys do
• 4:44
Speaker 3: is a totally different level. It can appear as such.
• 4:49
Speaker 6: Yeah, it's it's more approachable than most people would think, probably.
• 4:52
Speaker 3: And it's and it's not just games, because this is
• 4:56
Speaker 3: I mean, people are making a career on this sort
• 4:59
Speaker 3: of thing. Talk about that, correct.
• 5:00
  Speaker 7: Yeah.
• 5:00
Speaker 6: Absolutely, Esports in general is a multi billion dollar industry
• 5:05
Speaker 6: and it's pretty fairly underdeveloped in Charleston, and we're working
• 5:08
Speaker 6: pretty hard to try to change that.
• 5:10
Speaker 3: And that's why I wanted to have you guys on
• 5:11
Speaker 3: here to talk about this because you got a big
• 5:12
Speaker 3: event coming up that's going to bring a lot of
• 5:15
Speaker 3: people into town, right, Well, at least that's the hopes, right.
• 5:18
Speaker 5: Yeah, we're a little bit more than fifty per registrants,
• 5:22
Speaker 5: and registration goes up today. And part of what I've
• 5:26
Speaker 5: been doing in this process, I just message all of
• 5:29
Speaker 5: these top players. We have I think five top one
• 5:32
Speaker 5: hundred players on the planet coming here to try the planet.
• 5:36
Speaker 3: On the planet, not from Cross Lanes or not from
• 5:38
Speaker 3: Campbell's greet right, I mean on the planet, are coming
• 5:40
  Speaker 3: to Charleston.
• 5:41
Speaker 5: Yeah, some of the best players in the world will
• 5:43
Speaker 5: be here in Charleston just to compete. And that's kind
• 5:47
Speaker 5: of the beauty of esports. We can bring so many
• 5:50
Speaker 5: talented individuals together and it just respawns from the passion
• 5:53
Speaker 5: for the games that we play.
• 5:54
Speaker 3: So for people like me, they're on the outside kind
• 5:58
Speaker 3: of looking at what's the appeal here than just the competition,
• 6:01
Speaker 3: because like you said, this is just and this is
• 6:03
Speaker 3: becoming like any other sport. I mean, this is golf,
• 6:07
Speaker 3: this is tennis, this is all of the pickleball, whatever
• 6:09
Speaker 3: the hot thing is right now, this is all these
• 6:10
  Speaker 3: things all.
• 6:11
Speaker 6: Right, Yeah, absolutely, Just like in high level traditional sports,
• 6:15
Speaker 6: you know, onlookers can appreciate a level of skill that
• 6:19
Speaker 6: they can't seem to achieve themselves.
• 6:21
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why people watch golf or go to tournaments.
• 6:25
Speaker 8: Yeah yeah, I could do that one day, you know,
• 6:27
Speaker 8: and he realized, well, now, so you guys been been
• 6:31
Speaker 8: gamers your whole life, I mean, or born basically with
• 6:35
Speaker 8: playing playing the game.
• 6:36
  Speaker 3: Absolutely.
• 6:37
  Speaker 9: Yeah.
• 6:37
  Speaker 10: Yeah.
• 6:38
Speaker 5: If I didn't go with this path, with the event coordination,
• 6:42
Speaker 5: I probably would have played for a college and it
• 6:46
Speaker 5: would have been similar to you know, a traditional sports scholarship,
• 6:50
Speaker 5: you know, almost a football scholarship. I would be paid
• 6:52
Speaker 5: money to play for their esports team.
• 6:55
Speaker 3: And this is what is fascinating to me about this.
• 6:58
Speaker 3: I set in on a meeting another previous job I
• 7:01
Speaker 3: had a couple of years ago, and people were they
• 7:03
Speaker 3: were taught and this wasn't a radio job, by the way.
• 7:06
Speaker 3: They were talking about this whole esports and it being
• 7:08
Speaker 3: a career, and you know, it was like within any
• 7:12
Speaker 3: other sport. Okay, the chances of you making it big
• 7:15
Speaker 3: to the NFL, major League Baseball, whatever, you know, are
• 7:18
Speaker 3: pretty pretty slam But I mean it happens, and it's
• 7:23
Speaker 3: and it's happening right here in Charleston.
• 7:25
Speaker 5: Yeah, and uh, that is another thing that kind of
• 7:29
Speaker 5: separates esports from a traditional sport is the accessibility. Because
• 7:33
Speaker 5: whenever you look at something like the NFL, really everybody
• 7:36
Speaker 5: limits themselves of Oh, I just have to be, you know,
• 7:40
Speaker 5: physically gifted, and I have to put all these hundreds
• 7:42
Speaker 5: of hours of practice in, whereas with the esports, you
• 7:45
Speaker 5: don't just have to be a player, you know, I myself,
• 7:47
Speaker 5: I'm an event coordinator. There is a whole production side
• 7:51
Speaker 5: to the events. There's a promotion side of the events.
• 7:53
Speaker 5: There are a million different careers that you can find
• 7:56
Speaker 5: all in this little bubble, and it's so easily accessible.
• 7:59
Speaker 3: And that's what That's what was fascinating me when I
• 8:02
Speaker 3: was doing a little bit of reading some of the
• 8:03
Speaker 3: information that's provided me about this is that it's not
• 8:06
Speaker 3: not to downplay it, gas, but it's not just you know,
• 8:09
Speaker 3: people sitting around playing games. I mean, these are careers
• 8:12
Speaker 3: and universities, as you mentioned, universities now have esports teams.
• 8:17
Speaker 6: Hundreds of universities and in fact, here in West Virginia
• 8:20
Speaker 6: we have the most developed number one the best esports
• 8:24
Speaker 6: program in Concord University in Athens, West Virginia. They were
• 8:29
Speaker 6: national champions like the past three.
• 8:31
Speaker 9: Years in a row.
• 8:32
Speaker 6: They're the best esports program in the country.
• 8:35
Speaker 3: I love it and it's right here in West Virginia.
• 8:37
Speaker 3: I want to talk about this tournament. You got covered
• 8:38
Speaker 3: up here at about the people that are coming in momentarily.
• 8:40
Speaker 3: But Dave Island showing five eighty live is broad to good.

• 8:56
Speaker 3: wanted to put the headphones on for this. I'm gonna
• 8:58
Speaker 3: bring Ryan in here to give him an opportunity maybe
• 9:00
Speaker 3: to quiz you guys a little bit. Ryan, go ahead.
• 9:03
Speaker 11: Sure. I was actually wondering is this tournament going to
• 9:07
Speaker 11: be streamed anywhere Twitch YouTube or is it solely in person?
• 9:11
Speaker 5: So not only is it going to be streams, We're
• 9:13
Speaker 5: actually going to have two streams and on our mainstream,
• 9:16
Speaker 5: we will be on KML Tournaments, which is the third
• 9:19
Speaker 5: largest Smash Ultimate Twitch account that you can find. And
• 9:23
Speaker 5: on our side stream, we'll be doing what's called a
• 9:25
Speaker 5: quad stream, where there are four individual matches going on,
• 9:28
Speaker 5: all on the same stream, so you can watch four
• 9:30
Speaker 5: different matches and you can tune into both of those
• 9:33
  Speaker 5: from home.
• 9:33
  Speaker 9: Yeah.
• 9:34
Speaker 11: Nice, And is it just Smash Ultimate? Do you have Melee?
• 9:37
Speaker 11: Do you have any other fighting games?
• 9:39
Speaker 5: So yeah, we're just running Smash Ultimate for this iteration,
• 9:42
Speaker 5: but I play a lot of tech and I play
• 9:44
Speaker 5: a lot of street fighter.
• 9:45
  Speaker 11: Nice.
• 9:45
Speaker 5: If the people want it, we will make it happen.
• 9:47

• 9:52
  Speaker 11: I'm a Samus main.
• 9:54
  Speaker 3: I think we'll see you there, and that's why I
• 9:56
Speaker 3: brought Ryan Ann to talk about this all right, talk
• 9:58
Speaker 3: about the tournament, the and whares and all the stuff again. Yeah. Absolutely.
• 10:03
Speaker 6: It's going to take place on November fifteenth, and we're
• 10:07
Speaker 6: located at the Element Edge on the west side of Charleston.
• 10:10
Speaker 6: That's sixteen eleven Fourth Avenue, And if you are wanting
• 10:17
Speaker 6: to find more information, you can head to the element

• 10:23
Speaker 3: And how many people are you expecting to come in
• 10:25
Speaker 3: for this start about I mean you mentioned earlier, but
• 10:27
Speaker 3: to just so people understand how big this is going
• 10:28
Speaker 3: to be about how many people are you expecting it
• 10:30
Speaker 3: because you got them coming from all over.
• 10:32
Speaker 5: Yeah, So registration closes the twelfth, and like I said,
• 10:34
Speaker 5: registration goes up tonight. So up until that point, like
• 10:37
Speaker 5: I said, we're over a little more than fifty entrants
• 10:39
Speaker 5: at the moment, and that includes talent. We have a
• 10:42
Speaker 5: player coming from Chile, we have a player coming from
• 10:44
Speaker 5: New York, we have a player coming from New Jersey.
• 10:48
Speaker 5: The talent spreads so far beyond the borders of West Virginia.
• 10:52
Speaker 6: Yeah, an event like this has never taken place in Charleston.
• 10:55
Speaker 6: This is the highest, you know, level of competition that's
• 10:58
  Speaker 6: ever been here.
• 10:59
Speaker 3: And these people are and these people are gonna come
• 11:01
Speaker 3: in and they're gonna spend money, and they're gonna go eat,
• 11:03
Speaker 3: and they're gonna stay in hotels. And that's what That's
• 11:05
Speaker 3: what makes me happy exactly. That's what makes people the
• 11:07
Speaker 3: CVB and the City of Charleston happy too. And I mean, really,
• 11:11
Speaker 3: we are really lucky to have this coming to Charleston.

Speaker 3: how is this the sports? Because it's competition, and I
• 14:16
Speaker 3: think all those things that you mentioned text or cheerleading,
• 14:18
Speaker 3: marching band, I think they're all considered sports. Esports is
• 14:21
Speaker 3: the is the fastest growing competition competitions in the country,
• 14:28
Speaker 3: and when universities like Concord University have esports teams. Yeah,
• 14:32
Speaker 3: I call it a sport. I really really do. And
• 14:35
Speaker 3: I mean to say not necessarily my thing. I'm the
• 14:37
Speaker 3: kid that grew up in the nineteen seventies that didn't
• 14:39
Speaker 3: play video games. Okay I didn't. I did not have
• 14:41
Speaker 3: an only kid on my block in my neighborhood that
• 14:44
Speaker 3: didn't have an atari. Okay, I'm talking. That's how old
• 14:46
Speaker 3: I am. But it's huge, and what I like about
• 14:49
Speaker 3: it is the fact that it's going to bring all
• 14:52
Speaker 3: these people into Charleston. It's gonna put people in hotels,
• 14:57
Speaker 3: They're gonna spend money. Think people from Chile coming in.
• 15:01
Speaker 3: All right, So I appreciate the text, but yeah, it's
• 15:05
Speaker 3: I mean, one hundred percent of sport. And then the
• 15:07
Speaker 3: other things that the text mentioned Exta mentioned are sports
• 15:10
Speaker 3: as well. I messed up the schedule a little bit.
• 15:12
Speaker 3: I said, deligate Hollis Lewis was next. He's actually a
• 15:14
Speaker 3: little bit later on in the show. And so Hollis,
• 15:16
Speaker 3: if you're driving in right now, that's on me, buddy.
• 15:18
Speaker 3: Don't don't speed to get here. Because you're actually coming
• 15:20
Speaker 3: up later on I got my schedule mixed up. But
• 15:23
Speaker 3: Dave Alan Show on five eighty Live is brought to
• 15:26
Speaker 3: you a part by Pinnacle Consultants. They're lead paint inspection
• 15:28
Speaker 3: and risk assessment services designed to identify and to assess
• 15:31
Speaker 3: the presence of lead based paints and buildings and other structures.
• 15:34
Speaker 3: Use it a three phase approach of inspection sampling, the
• 15:36
Speaker 3: lab analysis, and an assessment report. To check out Pinnacle
• 15:39
Speaker 3: Cort dot net. Because what you don't know can hurt you.
• 15:41
Speaker 3: My buddy, now, Joe Stevens from the City of Nitros here.
• 15:44
Speaker 3: Good morning, sir, Welcome to the show.
• 15:46
Speaker 15: Good morning, Good morning David. How are you doing. I mean,
• 15:51
Speaker 15: you know, I think if you and I played offense
• 15:55
Speaker 15: for any team, we could score points on Eric Cowboy.
• 16:00
Speaker 3: Well, you know, we just picked up this player from
• 16:01
Speaker 3: the Jets, and I had Mike Pushkin on the show
• 16:04
Speaker 3: yesterday State Democratic Party and chair in delegate with Pushkin's
• 16:07
Speaker 3: also about the biggest New York Jets fan I've ever met. Actually,
• 16:11
Speaker 3: I think he may be the second New York Jets
• 16:13
Speaker 3: fan I've ever met in my entire life. And he
• 16:16
Speaker 3: was lamenting the fact that they let Sauce Gardner go,
• 16:18
Speaker 3: and they also let the defensive lineman go. With the
• 16:20
Speaker 3: Cowboys picked up. I mean, I mean, at this point,
• 16:24
Speaker 3: as a Cowboy fan, Joe, and I know you're as
• 16:26
  Speaker 3: big a fan as I am, I'm saying, what's Randy
• 16:30
Speaker 3: White doing these days? I mean, can we get Rink?
• 16:32
Speaker 3: Can we get the Manster out of retirement? I mean,
• 16:34
Speaker 3: where's where's Leon Letts, where's any of these Charles Haley?
• 16:38
Speaker 3: Bring them back in because we need help.
• 16:43
Speaker 15: Yeah, and that's all I got to That's all you.
• 16:45
Speaker 3: Got to say about that. Let's talk about wagon tails
• 16:48
Speaker 3: and nitro ales this Saturday.
• 16:50
Speaker 15: Talk about it coming up this Saturday. The event itself
• 16:55
Speaker 15: will be from ten until four. The Chili Tastings starts
• 16:59
Speaker 15: at eleven o'clock. We will be lined up with chili
• 17:02
Speaker 15: cooks and vendors and all kinds of neat things on
• 17:06
Speaker 15: Second from twenty first Street all the way down to
• 17:10
Speaker 15: nineteenth Street along Second Avenue right there at Living Memorial Park.
• 17:14
Speaker 15: Things will get underway. The weather is gonna look like
• 17:18
Speaker 15: it's gonna hold out for us. I know we're gonna
• 17:20
Speaker 15: have some rain tomorrow, but for Saturday, it looks like
• 17:25
Speaker 15: cloudy and some temperatures that will abide or getting out
• 17:30
Speaker 15: and having some fun. We'll have some food trucks, we'll
• 17:32
Speaker 15: have some the adult beverages, as we say, will be
• 17:37
Speaker 15: flowing for the event. But yeah, it gets underway at
• 17:41
Speaker 15: ten o'clock and we'll be going until about four o'clock.
• 17:44
Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's always a big event. How many years
• 17:46
Speaker 3: has this been going on.
• 17:47
Speaker 15: Joe, It's been going on, this wagging tail. This is
• 17:52
Speaker 15: getting close to fifteen years now. And a few years
• 17:56
Speaker 15: ago we combined it with the smoke on the water
• 17:59
Speaker 15: chili cook golf Jim Pearcy and how folks we combine
• 18:03
Speaker 15: the two. But now it's the wagon tails and nitro
• 18:06
Speaker 15: als and it just it brings folks out and they
• 18:09
Speaker 15: have a good time. It's great fellowship, uh and just
• 18:13
Speaker 15: a fun time walking around. And it also Dave is
• 18:16
Speaker 15: near to heart. We we raise money for some really
• 18:20
Speaker 15: really important groups that serve the area. First off, we
• 18:25
Speaker 15: have the Hospice Care. They will be selling all the
• 18:30
Speaker 15: dog bones that are used for picking the people's choice,
• 18:35
Speaker 15: and all the proceeds from the People's Choice category that
• 18:39
Speaker 15: they raised money for I'll go straight to Hospice Care.
• 18:43
Speaker 15: And then also all the proceeds from the beverages and
• 18:47
Speaker 15: some of the vendors kick in will go to West
• 18:50
Speaker 15: Virginia Canine Search and Rescue and the Putnam County Animal Shelter.
• 18:55
  Speaker 15: They'll be on hand, and it's just it's a great
• 19:00
Speaker 15: time to raise some money for some great causes.
• 19:03
Speaker 3: Indeed it is. We're talking to Joe Stephens from the
• 19:04
Speaker 3: City of Nitroda Island show on five eighty Lives brought
• 19:07
Speaker 3: to you in part but I Live Healthy West Virginia
• 19:09
Speaker 3: presented by WVU Medicine, a podcast promoting healthier lifestyles than
• 19:12
Speaker 3: to be on the State. Check avlatest episodes wv metronews
• 19:15
Speaker 3: dot com under the podcast menu. And when we talk
• 19:18
Speaker 3: about the chili at this thing and last year, I
• 19:20
Speaker 3: have attended the event in the past, but I had
• 19:23
Speaker 3: never been as big a part of it as what
• 19:24
Speaker 3: I was last year. And I'm playing on being a
• 19:26
Speaker 3: big part of it this year. But thanks to Joe
• 19:28
Speaker 3: Stevens as well. This is serious biz with this chili.
• 19:32
Speaker 3: I mean, this is an officially sanctioned international what do
• 19:37
Speaker 3: you call it, International Chili Cookers Association with it the
• 19:41
Speaker 3: Chili Society Society. This is an officially sanctioned event.
• 19:46
Speaker 15: Exactly. We have three categories along with people's choice, of course,
• 19:50
Speaker 15: but we have three categories that cooks will be vying
• 19:56
Speaker 15: for a spot in the twenty twenty six World Championships.
• 20:00
Speaker 15: Those three categories being your home style, which is what
• 20:04
Speaker 15: Dave Allen cooks up for his Super Bowl party, which
• 20:09
Speaker 15: one day he and I will tend together and watch
• 20:12
Speaker 15: the Cowboys win their fifth championship, but that's another story
• 20:16
Speaker 15: for another time. The Home Style competition, and then we'll
• 20:20
Speaker 15: have the Birdie competition, which is green chili, and we
• 20:24
Speaker 15: also have the traditional red and the significance of the
• 20:28
Speaker 15: traditional red no beans or filler or pasta or anything
• 20:31
Speaker 15: of that nature will be in that chili. So the
• 20:34
Speaker 15: three winners of those three categories will be representing the
• 20:37
Speaker 15: city of Nicro the Wagon Tails and Nitro Als Chili
• 20:40
Speaker 15: cookolf at the World Championships in twenty twenty six. So
• 20:43
Speaker 15: there's a lot on the line, and the neat thing
• 20:45
Speaker 15: about it is this cookoff is occurring just a few
• 20:49
Speaker 15: weeks after the World Championships were held in October, and
• 20:53
Speaker 15: so this is one of the first cookoffs that they
• 20:56
Speaker 15: will be able to contend for a spot in the
• 21:00
Speaker 15: twenty twenty six World Championships.
• 21:02
Speaker 3: And last year, thanks to my good friend Joe Stevens,
• 21:05
Speaker 3: I was asked to be a judge, and I have
• 21:07
Speaker 3: judged chili competitions over the years. I've done other food competitions.
• 21:12
Speaker 3: Just did mac and cheese this past Saturday Capitol Market
• 21:15
Speaker 3: prior to your event. I'm going to be back at
• 21:18
Speaker 3: Capital Market for the Biscuits and Gravy bowl. It is
• 21:20
Speaker 3: rough to be me because I got to judge biscuits
• 21:23
Speaker 3: and gravy in the morning and then I gotta do
• 21:25
Speaker 3: chili in the afternoon. But I will say this about
• 21:28
Speaker 3: the way that you do it. I don't want to
• 21:29
Speaker 3: give away too much here. I mean, when it comes
• 21:32
Speaker 3: to judging in a officially sanctioned chili contest, Joe, this
• 21:37
Speaker 3: is not just okay, everybody, all right, let's take a
• 21:39
Speaker 3: byte and move on. I mean, it is synchronized, for
• 21:43
Speaker 3: lack of a better term.
• 21:44
Speaker 15: Joe, it is well organized. We have a judges meeting,
• 21:49
Speaker 15: we go over some criterias and that sort of thing.
• 21:52
Speaker 15: And David's funny because you've seen me hold the judges
• 21:55
Speaker 15: meeting before. Oh yeah, And I'll ask questions and I'll
• 21:59
Speaker 15: actually have people. I'll ask you a question, is anybody
• 22:02
Speaker 15: here not like the chili? And I'll get people in
• 22:05
Speaker 15: years past say, yeah, that's me. Why are you here? Yeah,
• 22:09
Speaker 15: I want the free beer. Well we don't have free beer.
• 22:12
Speaker 15: See you later. Or they'll say, or we used to
• 22:16
Speaker 15: have a vegetarian competition. We don't have that anymore. But
• 22:19
  Speaker 15: I have somebody say they're a vegetarian, I'll pick around
• 22:23
Speaker 15: the meat. Uh no, I don't think so, and we
• 22:27
Speaker 15: move on. But yes, it is, uh it is. All
• 22:32
Speaker 15: the judges go through a judges meeting and we get
• 22:34
  Speaker 15: the criterias and uh, then it's it's it's no, it's
• 22:38
Speaker 15: I mean it's a pretty quiet thing. And this not
• 22:40
  Speaker 15: an eating it's a tasting, yeah, and it's a judging.
• 22:43
Speaker 3: Yeah it's and and that's the way it works. And
• 22:45
Speaker 3: I mean you locked us all, you sequestered us all
• 22:48
Speaker 3: in a room last year. I don't remember how many
• 22:50
Speaker 3: judges there were, but there were several. And I mean
• 22:52
Speaker 3: it's like you, you know, you take a bite, you
• 22:54
Speaker 3: get a different spoon after every bite. You know you
• 22:57
Speaker 3: we don't there's no beer, so no doubt dipping, no
• 23:01
Speaker 3: beers or sodas or anything like that. Everything's got to
• 23:03
Speaker 3: be water. There's no nothing added to it. No, no
• 23:07
Speaker 3: cracker because again, as you said, you're not there to eat, Okay,
• 23:10
Speaker 3: you can eat later, You're there to taste. And how
• 23:13
Speaker 3: many did we have last year total, because we have
• 23:16
  Speaker 3: a different category.
• 23:16
Speaker 15: Twenty two, and how we look at for this show
• 23:20
Speaker 15: and I'm about to say number, but you know, like
• 23:23
Speaker 15: one cook could be in all three cables.
• 23:25
Speaker 3: Yeah, sure sure. And you have people coming from all
• 23:28
Speaker 3: over for this thing because it's an internationally sanctioned event
• 23:31
Speaker 3: and there'll be a lot of people from the Kana
• 23:32
Speaker 3: Valley there, but there's gonna be people coming from from
• 23:35
Speaker 3: far away to be there to enter there chili because it.
• 23:37
Speaker 15: Is Ohio, Virginia, Maryland. They're all coming, they're coming. But Dave,
• 23:43
Speaker 15: as we've been talking, yes, it is a chili cook off,
• 23:47
Speaker 15: and that's the that's the mainstream things theme of the day.
• 23:52
Speaker 15: But we got some other cool stuff going on. In fact,
• 23:55
Speaker 15: we're going to have a professional wrestling match going on
• 23:59
Speaker 15: from twelve until one on on twenty first Street. The
• 24:05
Speaker 15: local wrestling folks are going to be buying for the chili,
• 24:11
Speaker 15: the chili belt, We will be having that that'll be
• 24:15
Speaker 15: going on right in front of the Nitro Antique Mall
• 24:18
Speaker 15: on twenty first Street. And we also have a RC
• 24:22
Speaker 15: car competition that will be taking place on twenty first Street,
• 24:26
Speaker 15: and that's from the folks at the pit here in Nitro.
• 24:30
Speaker 15: They will be having They were I saw them out
• 24:32
Speaker 15: there on twenty first Street yesterday building the ramps and everything.
• 24:36
Speaker 15: So a lot of things happening, a lot of fun
• 24:38
Speaker 15: and just a good time to be had by all.
• 24:42
Speaker 3: What if somebody says that they don't like chili? Okay,
• 24:45
Speaker 3: at number one, they're godless communist. Okay, there's that. But
• 24:49
Speaker 3: somebody says, I don't like chili, but are there other
• 24:52
Speaker 3: other food items available there? I know the answer, but
• 24:54
  Speaker 3: go ahead.
• 24:56
Speaker 15: Oh yeah, We've got a couple of food trucks that
• 24:58
Speaker 15: will be on on site, coal Miner's daughter and uh
• 25:03
Speaker 15: we have another group the Moonies and and and that's
• 25:08
Speaker 15: uh Philly Steaks and Wings and American Water will be
• 25:13
Speaker 15: having their uh truck down here giving away uh water
• 25:17
Speaker 15: for people to cleanse their palace if the beer isn't
• 25:20
Speaker 15: something that they want to do. But we've got the
• 25:24
Speaker 15: beer truck right there, and uh just a fun time.
• 25:27
Speaker 15: And we also had the Zoology Zone. You being from
• 25:30
Speaker 15: Putnam County, you know exactly what I'm talking. Yeah, there
• 25:32
Speaker 15: there there at Valley Park in Hurricane There in Long
• 25:37
Speaker 15: Pay Valley Roads, Zoology Zone will be here. And I
• 25:42
Speaker 15: tell you what, when we had him here for Boomtown Days,
• 25:46
Speaker 15: I found my running partner, the turtle.
• 25:49
Speaker 3: The turtle still faster than me.
• 25:51
Speaker 15: He was still faster.
• 25:53
Speaker 3: The gentleman that runs out. I've had him on the
• 25:55
Speaker 3: show before and he just does a fantastic job with that,
• 25:58
Speaker 3: and he brings some of his different animals out the
• 26:00
Speaker 3: different events, you know, so on and so forth. I
• 26:02
Speaker 3: just think it's I think it's great. And again, if
• 26:05
Speaker 3: you want to come out and obviously, if you are
• 26:08
Speaker 3: going to have the chili or get something from the
• 26:10
Speaker 3: food trucks or whatever, you're going to pay for that.
• 26:11
Speaker 3: But if you just want entertainment, you could come out
• 26:14
Speaker 3: there and take in all this stuff.
• 26:17
  Speaker 10: For free, exactly.
• 26:20
Speaker 15: And at the end of the day, if you are
• 26:22
Speaker 15: tasting chili, remember you are donating to Hospice Care. And
• 26:27
Speaker 15: then also if you're enjoying the other parts of the event,
• 26:31
Speaker 15: you're donating to the West Virginia K nine Search and
• 26:34
Speaker 15: Rescue and also the Putnam Animal Shelter, so it's a
• 26:37
Speaker 15: good thing. One little bit of competition that's going on
• 26:41
Speaker 15: is between the Nitro Fire Department and the Nitro Police Department.
• 26:44
Speaker 15: The police department actually one last year breaking a three
• 26:48
Speaker 15: year winning streak of the fire department, but they're going
• 26:52
Speaker 15: at it again this year, so that'll be fun too.
• 26:55
Speaker 3: If the people want to enter the chili competition, can
• 26:58
Speaker 3: they still do that?
• 27:01
Speaker 15: It's it's kind of getting down to the nitty gripe
• 27:05
Speaker 15: in the events on Saturday. They can go online and
• 27:10
Speaker 15: there's uh at the Wagging Tails and Nitro Ales UH site.
• 27:15
Speaker 15: There's some information, but it's it's getting down to the
• 27:18
  Speaker 15: nitty right.
• 27:18
Speaker 3: Yeah, completely understood. How does so explain how the ticketing works?
• 27:22
Speaker 3: Somebody comes up, they bring the family and they want
• 27:24
Speaker 3: to sample some chilies. How does the ticketing work for this?
• 27:28
Speaker 15: They will go to the booth that is operated by
• 27:31
Speaker 15: the volunteers and staff of the Hospice Care and you
• 27:35
Speaker 15: will buy a bag I'm forgetting the cost of the
• 27:39
Speaker 15: bag of bones, but you'll buy a bag of bones
• 27:43
Speaker 15: and then you'll go around to each booth that's got
• 27:45
Speaker 15: the uh, they're chili ready and everything, and you'll get
• 27:49
Speaker 15: a taste of chili, and you can use the bones
• 27:52
Speaker 15: that you purchased to vote for the chilies that you like.
• 27:55
Speaker 15: And at the end of the day, we see who's
• 27:58
Speaker 15: got the most bones and they win the people's choice.
• 28:01
Speaker 3: And that's how it works. And you got vendors of
• 28:02
Speaker 3: all kinds there. I know you had folks pedaling their
• 28:05
Speaker 3: wares of all kinds. They're not just food related, all
• 28:08
Speaker 3: other vendors as well. Give us the time and the
• 28:10
Speaker 3: location of everything that's happened Saturday. Then I'll ask you
• 28:14
Speaker 3: one other question about another event you got going on.
• 28:16
Speaker 3: But give us the time and the place and everything
• 28:18
  Speaker 3: for Saturday.
• 28:20
Speaker 15: Well, OK, we'll be going from twenty first Street to
• 28:24
Speaker 15: nineteenth Street along Second Avenue. If you're coming, I recommend
• 28:29
Speaker 15: going up nineteenth Street, maybe parking there and walking through,
• 28:33
Speaker 15: or coming up twenty second Street and parking there. At
• 28:36
Speaker 15: the time we get everything underway, Randy dammer And is
• 28:39
Speaker 15: providing the entertainment again, and then he'll start at ten o'clock.
• 28:44
Speaker 15: The chili tasting itself will start at eleven o'clock and
• 28:48
Speaker 15: we'll go and we'll have the awards at four o'clock.
• 28:51
Speaker 15: And it's right. If you Google or go to Google
• 28:55
Speaker 15: Maps or whatever and put in Nitro Living Memorial Park,
• 28:59
Speaker 15: it'll bring you right to us.
• 29:00
Speaker 3: All right, I'll be there as soon as I get
• 29:01
Speaker 3: downe eating biscuits and gravy or Capital Market. How's that
• 29:05
Speaker 3: bring me in order? All right? Before we let you go, seriously,
• 29:09
Speaker 3: next week's Veterans Day, and this is the city of
• 29:13
Speaker 3: Nitro is a city that was born out of the military,
• 29:17
Speaker 3: and we've talked about that extensively on the show in
• 29:19
Speaker 3: the past. So what do you got going on next
• 29:21
  Speaker 3: week for veterans.
• 29:23
Speaker 15: Well, on Monday, we will have our annual Veterans Day
• 29:27
Speaker 15: Observation slash celebration and it will be occurring at five o'clock.
• 29:31
Speaker 15: We always do it the day before Veterans Day because
• 29:34
Speaker 15: throughout Canal Valley there are quite a few parades and
• 29:37
Speaker 15: other celebrations, So we do ours on the tenth. And
• 29:40
Speaker 15: you know, you say Nitro was born because of the military. Yes,
• 29:43
Speaker 15: but everybody in Canal Value throughout always always our stand
• 29:49
Speaker 15: up for the veterans, and we're happy to do that.
• 29:52
Speaker 15: But on the tenth, starting at five o'clock, right at
• 29:55
Speaker 15: the Nitro Veterans Memorial, the War Memorial right there First
• 30:00
Speaker 15: Avenue and Banks Street at twenty first street. If you've
• 30:04
Speaker 15: been through Nitro, you see the flag court of thirteen flags,
• 30:07
Speaker 15: and right there we will have an observance and a celebration.
• 30:12
Speaker 15: The keynote that starts at five o'clock. Keynote speaker this
• 30:15
Speaker 15: year will be Ryan Kennedy. He is the Secretary of
• 30:19
Speaker 15: Veterans Assistants Affairs for the State of West Virginia. He
• 30:23
Speaker 15: will be our keynote speaker. But something really in addition
• 30:27
Speaker 15: this year is we had a lifelong resident of Nitro
• 30:33
Speaker 15: passed away recently and in her estate she gave forty
• 30:40
Speaker 15: thousand dollars not only to the Nitro Public Library, but
• 30:43
Speaker 15: forty thousand dollars. She willeds forty thousand dollars to the
• 30:48
Speaker 15: Wounded Warrior Project. And we have a representative from the
• 30:51
Speaker 15: Wounded Warrior Project will be with us for this event
• 30:56
Speaker 15: and everything, the Celebration of Veterans State and we will
• 31:00
Speaker 15: be presenting the Wounded Warriors Project forty thousand dollars. So
• 31:04
Speaker 15: that'll be going on. We got so that's all right there,
• 31:09
Speaker 15: starting at five o'clock on Monday weather. You know, you know,
• 31:13
Speaker 15: we're not worried about it will be under a tent
• 31:16
Speaker 15: and and that sort of thing. So come on out
• 31:19
Speaker 15: and help us celebrate the veterans here in Nitrol.
• 31:22
Speaker 3: All right, Joe, it's always a pleasure to talk to you,
• 31:24
Speaker 3: and looking forward to seeing you and having some chili
• 31:27
Speaker 3: on Saturday after I've had my biscuits and gravy. So yeah,
• 31:30
Speaker 3: it's I did both. People say, how did you do both? Well,
• 31:33
Speaker 3: you know you're not exactly chowing down on it, you know,
• 31:36
Speaker 3: just like with mac and cheese last week. You're just
• 31:38
Speaker 3: taking one bite and then when it's over then you
• 31:40
Speaker 3: can you can go back and get your favorite. But
• 31:43
Speaker 3: looking forward to seeing you on Saturday, my friend. Thanks
• 31:46
  Speaker 3: a lot.
• 31:48
  Speaker 15: You're quite welcome.
• 31:49
  Speaker 10: David.
• 31:49
Speaker 15: One thing for sure, the Cowboys will not lose this.
• 31:52
Speaker 3: Yes, that's right, we got to buy. I appreciate you
• 31:54
Speaker 3: being here, Joe, Thanks a lot. All, thanks a lot, Joe.
• 31:57
Speaker 3: Steve was from the city of Nitro. And while we're
• 31:59
Speaker 3: talking real quick, before we go to break about veterans things,
• 32:02
Speaker 3: I want to let you know something that we are
• 32:04
Speaker 3: doing here, and you've heard me talking about Mayford to
• 32:06
Speaker 3: promos on the air as well. You know, veterans have
• 32:11
Speaker 3: really given so much and now we're going to ask
• 32:15
Speaker 3: you to give back with words that matter. You can

Speaker 3: call our text line. I know that sounds weird to
• 32:20
Speaker 3: say call our text line, but hear me out here.

• 36:10
Speaker 3: Thank you for having me on, Thank you for being here.
• 36:13
Speaker 3: So a couple of things I wanted to actually, I
• 36:16
Speaker 3: want to talk to you about. First of all, Democrats,
• 36:19
Speaker 3: several of them and yourself included in some of these,
• 36:21
Speaker 3: I think, have been having these kitchen table events throughout
• 36:28
Speaker 3: throughout West Virginia throughout the study. Charleston Hunting and Gilbert
• 36:31
Speaker 3: Flat will just name a few. Are there any more
• 36:34
Speaker 3: of those scheduled or are you it's a tour over now.
• 36:36
Speaker 17: The tour officially wrapped up, but we're going to have
• 36:38
Speaker 17: a couple additional stops here in the next couple of months,
• 36:41
Speaker 17: so we're in the planet phases for those.
• 36:43
Speaker 3: Okay, all right, So what was your takeaway from all these?
• 36:47
Speaker 3: It was it was excellent.
• 36:48
Speaker 17: It was just our opportunity to get out in front
• 36:50
Speaker 17: of West Virginians to hear what they have to say
• 36:54
Speaker 17: and also, you know, give them our agenda and see
• 36:57
Speaker 17: points of where we can collaborate, points of where we
• 36:59
Speaker 17: are defeat in which we can add to what we
• 37:02
Speaker 17: plan to do in the next session.
• 37:04
Speaker 3: And I've talked to well, I'll give you a coup.
• 37:07
Speaker 3: I'll talk to Amanda barroon who was the moderator, the
• 37:09
Speaker 3: one in Charleston and Huntington, And she said, you wouldn't
• 37:11
Speaker 3: think that some of the issues were the same. Some
• 37:14
Speaker 3: of the issues were different in the different communities. And
• 37:16
Speaker 3: I know when you went to these other areas, they
• 37:18
Speaker 3: certainly were like when you went to Gilbert and places
• 37:20
Speaker 3: like that. But there are a lot of similarities as well.
• 37:23
Speaker 17: Yeah, it's a lot of similarities. People are, you know,
• 37:26
Speaker 17: suffered from the same thing when we talk about education,
• 37:28
Speaker 17: when we talk about childcare, when you talk about things
• 37:31
Speaker 17: that's going on to SNAP. So you know, as much
• 37:34
Speaker 17: as we are different in these different communities, you know
• 37:37
Speaker 17: we are dealing with similar issues.
• 37:40
Speaker 3: You mentioned SNAP, and I want to I'll just juve
• 37:42
Speaker 3: down to that right now. With the partial government shutdown
• 37:45
Speaker 3: going on, SNAP benefits and for many Americans sixteen percent
• 37:49
Speaker 3: of the population in West Virginia on Saturday, and there's
• 37:54
Speaker 3: been this back and forth. Okay, you know in the
• 37:56
Speaker 3: state has stepped up, the guards involved and so on
• 37:58
Speaker 3: and so forth. But the bottom line is there's still
• 38:00
Speaker 3: some hungry people out there. And I think, and I
• 38:03
Speaker 3: said this on midday yesterday, hollis it it goes to
• 38:07
Speaker 3: show you a West Virginians and how we are because
• 38:10
Speaker 3: we step up, you know, we step up without having
• 38:13
Speaker 3: to be told, which like, okay, what what do we
• 38:15
Speaker 3: got to do to help people? And we're doing We're
• 38:16
Speaker 3: going to talk to a business owner if the next
• 38:18
Speaker 3: segment is doing that exact same thing. But it's a
• 38:22
Speaker 3: very unfortunate situation because of a dysfunction This is my
• 38:26
Speaker 3: men talking, not yet because of a dysfunctional system in DC.
• 38:29
Speaker 17: Well, I would did all that, you know, anytime. I
• 38:32
Speaker 17: and again, you know what's going on as far as
• 38:35
Speaker 17: the government shut down, they're trying to work it out.
• 38:37
Speaker 17: You have different size of you know, advocating for different things,
• 38:40
Speaker 17: but bottom line is that there should be no situation.
• 38:44
  Speaker 17: I don't care if it's a government shut down, if
• 38:46
Speaker 17: the Dems caused it, the Republican causes where people have
• 38:49
Speaker 17: to go hungry. Because I'm a person who lived experience.
• 38:52
Speaker 17: I grew up on snap benefits. We used to call
• 38:54
Speaker 17: them food stamps back in the day. And by the
• 38:57
Speaker 17: twenty fifth, twenty sixth of the month, you know, you're
• 39:00
Speaker 17: running out of food and you're stretching that last week
• 39:04
Speaker 17: in order to you know, have your Snap benefits hit,
• 39:06
Speaker 17: so you can you know, replenish your pantries. In addition
• 39:11
Speaker 17: with that, when you talk about November being things, given
• 39:14
Speaker 17: the holidays coming up, you know people are going to
• 39:16
Speaker 17: be stretched thin. And when you talk about a state
• 39:20
Speaker 17: like West Virginia in particularly, you mentioned sixteen percent of
• 39:22
Speaker 17: the population and also twenty five percent of our population
• 39:25
Speaker 17: is living in what was considered a food desert. So
• 39:28
Speaker 17: to get that access to food is an additional cost
• 39:31
Speaker 17: when some people have to travel up to forty five
• 39:33
Speaker 17: minutes to go to a grocery store. And so when
• 39:36
Speaker 17: you mix all these things in in addition to the
• 39:38
Speaker 17: rising costs of everything, it just creates a bad situation
• 39:42
Speaker 17: and we have to do what's necessarily in order to
• 39:44
Speaker 17: feed our people. West Virginia House Dems we're calling on
• 39:47
Speaker 17: the government, the governor to have a special session to
• 39:49
Speaker 17: see how we can help fund those people who don't
• 39:52
Speaker 17: have snap benefits this month.
• 39:54
Speaker 3: Do you think there's a lot of support for the
• 39:56
Speaker 3: governor to bring the legislature back in.
• 39:58
Speaker 17: Well, I would help would be you know, I can't
• 40:00
Speaker 17: speak for everybody, but I know on our side we're
• 40:02
Speaker 17: definitely advocating for that because we have to do this.
• 40:05
Speaker 17: This is you know in no circumstances when we talk
• 40:08
Speaker 17: about food, shut the clothed, and healthcare, education, these are
• 40:11
Speaker 17: no negotiables. This is things that you know, we're living
• 40:14
Speaker 17: in the richest country in the world, that we should
• 40:17
Speaker 17: be able to provide with no problem, regardless of whatever
• 40:19
Speaker 17: else is going on.
• 40:20
Speaker 3: Talking to a Delegate Hollist Lewis, Democrat, out of the
• 40:23

• 40:42
Speaker 3: for details Bridge Valley, Your career starts here. All right,
• 40:45
Speaker 3: So Tuesday, we're forty eight hours will actually less than that.
• 40:47
Speaker 3: When the polls closed in a lot of these states,
• 40:50
Speaker 3: and you know, Virginia, New York and so on and
• 40:53
Speaker 3: so forth, and there were some surprises, but in some
• 40:57
Speaker 3: cases not surprises. It was a good night for the Democrats.
• 41:00
Speaker 17: Yeah, talking about that, I mean again, it was definitely
• 41:02
Speaker 17: a good night, something that I think we needed. And
• 41:05
Speaker 17: I think it's indicative of what people are, you know,
• 41:08
Speaker 17: sort of the sentiments that are changing, Like we have
• 41:10
Speaker 17: to have policies, We have to have leaders that are
• 41:13
Speaker 17: going to truly put the American people first, not not
• 41:17
Speaker 17: whatever agendas, not this corporation, not billionaires. It has to
• 41:21
Speaker 17: be a people first agenda. And I think that's what
• 41:23
Speaker 17: we saw the people go out and vote for.
• 41:26
Speaker 3: I think the word that was bannered around a lot
• 41:28
Speaker 3: we talked about the guys and talk and I did
• 41:30
Speaker 3: was a simple word, delegate, and it was affordability. Yeah,
• 41:34
Speaker 3: and that's what we saw. And look, you know some
• 41:37
Speaker 3: of the states, somebody pointed out and they're correct and
• 41:41
Speaker 3: doing this point. No, Well, you know, some of these
• 41:43
Speaker 3: these were blue areas on the whole. You can say
• 41:46
Speaker 3: some of these states were, but when you break it
• 41:48
Speaker 3: down into the individual areas, some of the reddest areas,
• 41:53
Speaker 3: some of the reddest counties, if you will, on Tuesday
• 41:56
  Speaker 3: went blue.
• 41:57
  Speaker 15: Yeah.
• 41:57
Speaker 17: And the fact of the matter is just because you're
• 41:59
Speaker 17: in a blue state or a blue area, that doesn't
• 42:01
Speaker 17: mean that a Democrat is automatically gonna win.
• 42:03
  Speaker 15: Right.
• 42:03
Speaker 17: We've seen New York City had record turnout, So people
• 42:07
Speaker 17: are not only voting, but they're coming to the polls
• 42:10
Speaker 17: with being intentional about how they vote. And just when
• 42:12
Speaker 17: we talk about affordability, just going back to SNAP for
• 42:15
Speaker 17: a second, what we got to realize is that sixty
• 42:17
Speaker 17: percent of the people and this is a nationwide stat
• 42:20
Speaker 17: that are on SNAP are working. And to maybe a
• 42:24
Speaker 17: Republican's point, they may say, you may hear that and see, well,
• 42:27
Speaker 17: why do they need Snap? But the question that you
• 42:30
Speaker 17: have to ask is that why do they need Snap
• 42:33
Speaker 17: in that the companies that they are working for they
• 42:35
Speaker 17: cannot they don't pay them enough to be able to
• 42:37
Speaker 17: afford food. Think about that. Think about a person working
• 42:41
Speaker 17: forty hours a week doesn't have enough money at the
• 42:45
Speaker 17: end of the month to not only play for rent
• 42:47
Speaker 17: and living expenses, but to pay for food, and they
• 42:50
Speaker 17: have to get government assistance to supplement that. So when
• 42:53
Speaker 17: you talk about that affordability, I believe we have a
• 42:56
Speaker 17: cultural problem and we have to re examine kind of
• 43:00
Speaker 17: what we're doing and where we're at, because people shouldn't
• 43:02
Speaker 17: be able to have to work three and four and
• 43:04
Speaker 17: five jobs in order just to.
• 43:07
Speaker 3: Live Deligan Hollis Lou It's always a pleasure to have
• 43:10
Speaker 3: you on the show. Mark, thank you man, all right,
• 43:11
  Speaker 3: I appreciate you.
• 43:12
  Speaker 7: All right.
• 43:13
Speaker 3: Is a nine to fifty. Were going to take a
• 43:14
Speaker 3: break and be back after this on the Voice of
• 43:16

Speaker 3: He joins us now, good morning, Welcome to the show.
• 45:57
  Speaker 15: Sir.
• 45:58
Speaker 7: Hey, it's a pleasure having me here. I appreciate you
• 46:01
Speaker 7: guys having me on this morning.
• 46:02
Speaker 3: So what exactly are you doing with your place? It's
• 46:05
Speaker 3: called Gaming Paradise and Cross Lanes. What are you doing
• 46:07
  Speaker 3: up there?
• 46:08
Speaker 7: Yeah, so we have a food pantry I called a
• 46:10
Speaker 7: food drive, but we're having a food pantry open at
• 46:13
Speaker 7: our store every single day from eleven to seven. You
• 46:16
Speaker 7: could donate or you can pick up any items that
• 46:19
Speaker 7: you're needing. It's open every single day. We're just trying
• 46:22
Speaker 7: to make sure that the community is being fed.
• 46:24
Speaker 3: What kind of items are you looking for?
• 46:26
Speaker 7: So we're looking for non perishable food items. We ask
• 46:29
Speaker 7: that those are donated and not monetary cash because we're
• 46:34
Speaker 7: already making multiple trips to the store, so it just
• 46:36
Speaker 7: helps me out not make one more trip, so we
• 46:39
Speaker 7: would appreciate non perishable food item.
• 46:41
Speaker 3: Nonperishable just makes a lot easier again for you guys.
• 46:45
Speaker 3: What's the response been like so far?
• 46:47
Speaker 7: So we're helping out anywhere between one hundred to one
• 46:50
Speaker 7: hundred and fifty families, it seems like a day. So
• 46:52
Speaker 7: the response has been incredible. We've had a lot of
• 46:55
Speaker 7: donations already pouring through, and then we're also filling up
• 46:59
Speaker 7: a truck bed full of food every single day and
• 47:01
Speaker 7: we're putting it out for donation as well. So we're
• 47:04
Speaker 7: trying to do as much as we can to make
• 47:05
  Speaker 7: sure people eat.
• 47:06

Speaker 3: I mean I got a couple texts before we close
• 49:06
Speaker 3: it out. Texas. Hey, Dave, my child's school put up
• 49:08
Speaker 3: the West Virginia government mandated in God, we trust science.
• 49:12
Speaker 3: This is the water warming up in the boiling frog
• 49:15
Speaker 3: metaphor next we'll be saying the government mandated prayer. Why
• 49:19
Speaker 3: are the people of West Virginia in support of this
• 49:22
Speaker 3: constitutional violation? Do West Virginias not abide by the constitution?
• 49:26
Speaker 3: No hate for religion, just don't use the government to
• 49:31
Speaker 3: impose your religious beliefs, says a Texter Texas. Originally because
• 49:37
Speaker 3: of his tariffs, Trump said the poor kids can do
• 49:40
Speaker 3: with three toys instead of twenty. But now the poor
• 49:42
Speaker 3: kids that make do with one toy because the rest
• 49:44
Speaker 3: of the money will go to food. God bless America,
• 49:46
Speaker 3: says a texture tex says Dave, Florida.
• 49:49
  Speaker 15: Guy here.
• 49:50
Speaker 3: There were no surprises in the election, more media hype
• 49:52
Speaker 3: and fake news this time on the radio. Democrats won
• 49:55
Speaker 3: in blue states as expected. No Republicans lost that we're
• 49:58
Speaker 3: expected to win. It's real simple. It's not that simple,
• 50:01
Speaker 3: because what I was talking about earlier is yes, indeed,
• 50:04
Speaker 3: Democrats did win in Democrat in blue states. However, when
• 50:09
Speaker 3: you break down the counties that they won, that is
• 50:12
Speaker 3: to me what is very very interesting. It's the counties
• 50:17
Speaker 3: in Virginia that Republicans lost votes said. That's that's what's interesting.
• 50:22
Speaker 3: Do appreciate the text, though, texays Dave, I can see
• 50:28
Speaker 3: sort of what this guy is saying. It's a reference
• 50:29
Speaker 3: to Delegate Hollis Lewis. But I also have seen people
• 50:31
Speaker 3: on snap waste and spend a lot of money on cigarettes, vacations, alcohol,
• 50:35
Speaker 3: even a new car. Says in Texas. Well, there's going
• 50:38
Speaker 3: to be fraud abuse in everything in life, and it's
• 50:42
Speaker 3: just part of it. Unfortunately, Tex says, are they taking
• 50:46
Speaker 3: baby and pet supplies also? I will that's I will
• 50:49
Speaker 3: check on that for you up at up Gaming Paradise.
• 50:54
Speaker 3: But I'm gonna say it probably wouldn't hurt you know.
• 50:56
Speaker 3: I don't know Corey personally. First time I met him
• 50:58
Speaker 3: was when I just interviewed him. But yeah, stop by,
• 51:01
Speaker 3: drop it off. Tex says, a radical Islamic communists elected
• 51:05
Speaker 3: mayor of the city that saw the majority of the
• 51:07
Speaker 3: twenty nine hundred and seventy seven innocent people lost in
• 51:09
Speaker 3: a matter of one hundred and two minutes a short
• 51:11
Speaker 3: twenty four years ago. Notice the drastic change and his
• 51:14
Speaker 3: demeanor from his creepy all smiles campaign into how loud,
• 51:17
Speaker 3: angry and confrontational. This is the mayor of New York
• 51:20
Speaker 3: they're talking about. His speech was on election night. So
• 51:24
Speaker 3: much for our vow to those lost souls and their
• 51:26
Speaker 3: families that we will never forget. Great job, New York.
• 51:29
Speaker 3: You just dug your own graves as it's extra DJ
• 51:33
Speaker 3: Meadows So Sarah, well, how you doing man.
• 51:36
  Speaker 22: I'm doing right. It's on a big show today. We've
• 51:41
Speaker 22: got the Hope CEO. That's going to be a big
• 51:43
Speaker 22: interview on that rate case settlement. I think they asked
• 51:45
Speaker 22: for eighty one, got forty one.
• 51:47
Speaker 3: I'll tell you my.
• 51:47
Speaker 23: Experience in that industry, A good deal and everybody gets
• 51:51
Speaker 23: screwed just a little bit. No, I'm serious, That's what
• 51:54
  Speaker 23: I was taught all that's a good deal. So we'll
• 51:57
Speaker 23: see if everybody got screwed a little bit, and that
• 51:59
Speaker 23: means it's a good deal. So we'll talk to him
• 52:01
Speaker 23: about that. A Delegate John Williams from Montagelia County joins
• 52:05
Speaker 23: us talk about funding stay put in one point one
• 52:07
Speaker 23: million dollars for food banks. Should we have done more?
• 52:10
Speaker 23: Okay upfront? Should we have allocated more? Is this a
• 52:14
Speaker 23: reason with what we're going through to take a look
• 52:16
  Speaker 23: at that allocation.
• 52:17
