- 0:00Speaker 1: Now, this is The Mark Simone Show on 710WOR.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Well, we got a lot to get to today. Well,
- 0:12Speaker 2: you got another NFL owner caught with prostitutes. We'll get
- 0:16Speaker 2: to that. We'll get to Crazy Mom Donnie. We'll get
- 0:18Speaker 2: to El Sayad on Fox News last night. He may
- 0:22Speaker 2: have done himself a lot of good there. We'll get
- 0:24Speaker 2: to another victory for President Trump, Supreme Court-wise. And, hey,
- 0:29Speaker 2: a major, major movie theater closing. We'll get to that
- 0:33Speaker 2: coming up. And a whole lot more just ahead. Don't forget,
- 0:36Speaker 2: it's 9 to noon every day. Mark Simone here. 9
- 0:40Speaker 2: to noon every day. It's going to be a beautiful
- 0:41Speaker 2: day today and tomorrow. And Thursday looks like rain. But
- 0:45Speaker 2: you've got two great summer days as we get towards
- 0:48Speaker 2: the very end of summer. The president, as he battles Iran...
- 0:56Speaker 2: Starting another war, this time with Canada. About what? Nobody knows. Actually,
- 1:02Speaker 2: Canada has been pretty awful to us as far as trade,
- 1:05Speaker 2: as far as money, trade deals, all that. They're just awful.
- 1:11Speaker 2: So the president put a 50% tariff on Canada, which
- 1:16Speaker 2: pretty much stops imports. And then Canada fighting back 50%
- 1:20Speaker 2: tax on America. They'll show us. Now, The only problem
- 1:25Speaker 2: is we really don't need Canada for anything economically, trade-wise.
- 1:30Speaker 2: We can do just fine without Canada. However, Canada is
- 1:34Speaker 2: totally dependent on the U.S., so they can bluster all
- 1:38Speaker 2: they want. The president even saying now he's going to
- 1:41Speaker 2: rename Lake Ontario Lake America.
- 1:45Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:46Speaker 2: He may have pulled that trick out of his bag
- 1:50Speaker 2: maybe a few too many times that Gulf of America,
- 1:53Speaker 2: Gulf of Mexico, Lake America, Lake Ontario. That trick might
- 1:58Speaker 2: be wearing off a little, but it's still effective. It
- 2:00Speaker 2: still drives them nuts up there. And Carney, who's the
- 2:06Speaker 2: Canadian prime minister, trying to sound tough, you know, really tough.
- 2:10Speaker 4: This fall, we will begin intense discussions with the European Union,
- 2:15Speaker 4: the world's second largest economy, to build a much stronger
- 2:19Speaker 4: and deeper economic and security economy.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Now, first of all, you shouldn't do this in the
- 2:23Speaker 2: bathroom where you get that echo. I think that's our audio.
- 2:26Speaker 2: But he's going to form an alliance with the European Union.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I'll show America. We'll go join the European Union. That
- 2:34Speaker 2: is on the verge of total collapse, that European Union.
- 2:37Speaker 2: It's been an absolute disaster for every country that's joined it.
- 2:42Speaker 2: So good luck with that. Now, we can.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Build such unparalleled access because we're trusted, because we're reliable.
- 2:51Speaker 4: and because we have what the world wants.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Yes, so that sounds good to Canadians, but again, European Union,
- 2:58Speaker 2: a disaster. No good ever comes from joining that. It's
- 3:02Speaker 2: not much of a threat. So President Trump just toying
- 3:05Speaker 2: with them. Canada will eventually come to some kind of agreement. Hey, now,
- 3:09Speaker 2: as far as Iran, we're going to destroy them economically.
- 3:13Speaker 2: We already have pretty much. Scott Besson yesterday unveiling the
- 3:18Speaker 2: incredible sanctions he's putting on them. the unbelievably tough sanctions,
- 3:24Speaker 2: the things he's going to do to them. Now, you
- 3:26Speaker 2: may have watched it. I watched it. I don't know
- 3:28Speaker 2: what the hell he was talking about. He looked good
- 3:31Speaker 2: saying it. It looked like he was doing something tough,
- 3:32Speaker 2: but I couldn't quite figure out exactly what it was.
- 3:35Speaker 2: But most important thing is let's check the oil price
- 3:39Speaker 2: because these, the people that actually trade oil, the commodity people,
- 3:45Speaker 2: they actually have to really carefully evaluate this. Is this
- 3:48Speaker 2: going to help? Is this going to hurt this thing? Well,
- 3:50Speaker 2: Price of oil has dropped about $ 3 already. So they
- 3:53Speaker 2: think it's good. The oil traders think it's a very
- 3:57Speaker 2: good thing, that it will be effective. He's laid out
- 3:59Speaker 2: a timeline. I'm not going to set timelines, but we
- 4:03Speaker 2: do not. Take that back. There's no timeline. All right.
- 4:07Speaker 2: He didn't even lay out a timeline. But what are
- 4:10Speaker 2: they going to do? Any country that tries to help
- 4:13Speaker 2: Iran or trade with Iran, we're going to go after them.
- 4:16Speaker 3: We know who they are. They know who they are.
- 4:19Speaker 3: So when the hammer of U.S. Treasury actions falls upon them,
- 4:25Speaker 3: they will have no one to blame but themselves.
- 4:27Speaker 2: All right. Again, he hasn't really laid out the threat, but..
- 4:30Speaker 3: Those who stand with the United States will reap the
- 4:33Speaker 3: rewards of our partnership. Those who tether themselves to the
- 4:37Speaker 3: Iranian regime should expect to share in the isolation of
- 4:41Speaker 3: a withering regime.
- 4:43Speaker 2: All right.
- 4:44Speaker 3: We are spreading out across the world as we speak.
- 4:49Speaker 3: that you will see a wave of sanctions when you
- 4:52Speaker 3: leave this meeting today, and you should expect that cadence
- 4:56Speaker 3: to continue. And I would expect that you will see
- 4:59Speaker 3: a major announcement of a financial institution being sanctioned by
- 5:05Speaker 3: the end of this week.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Pretty good. 25 minutes of threatening without ever saying what
- 5:11Speaker 2: the threat is. Nobody knows what it is, but he
- 5:14Speaker 2: sounded pretty serious about it. So it'll have some effect.
- 5:18Speaker 2: They'll just sanction everybody doing business with them. Now, the
- 5:23Speaker 2: problem is that China doesn't listen to any of this.
- 5:25Speaker 2: They're still secretly doing whatever they can for Iran, as
- 5:29Speaker 2: is Russia. But those neighboring countries will now stay the
- 5:33Speaker 2: hell out of it. Again, price of oil is dropping
- 5:35Speaker 2: right now, been dropping overnight. So the oil people love
- 5:39Speaker 2: what they're hearing. They think it's going to be Very,
- 5:42Speaker 2: very effective.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Any entity that facilitates money laundering on behalf of Iran
- 5:50Speaker 3: will be removed from the U.S.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Dollar system.
- 5:53Speaker 3: The clock just started ticking.
- 5:56Speaker 2: All right. That's a pretty good threat. That can affect
- 5:59Speaker 2: a lot.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Let there be no ambiguity as to the position of
- 6:02Speaker 3: the United States and economic engagement of any kind with.
- 6:06Speaker 2: This murderous regime.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Will expose those responsible to the full reach of American power.
- 6:12Speaker 3: And to those who enable Tehran, do not discount the
- 6:16Speaker 3: cost of testing Washington's resolve. No nation should expect to
- 6:22Speaker 3: enjoy the rewards of our system while helping those who
- 6:26Speaker 3: seek to destroy it.
- 6:28Speaker 2: All right, there you go. He's a pretty tough guy, Besant,
- 6:31Speaker 2: despite the little round glasses. Very, very tough guy. And
- 6:35Speaker 2: that's it. He's cutting, everybody's getting cut off Now watch
- 6:39Speaker 2: Canada jump in. Watch this carny all of a sudden
- 6:42Speaker 2: call one of those guys in the caves and jump in.
- 6:44Speaker 2: So it'll be Canada and Iran against the U.S. It
- 6:50Speaker 2: should be pretty effective. It looks like Iran is pretty
- 6:54Speaker 2: much finished economically. It's just a case of totally destroying them.
- 6:58Speaker 2: East Berlin, you remember when that fell? It was kind
- 7:01Speaker 2: of the same thing. It was just so destroyed economically.
- 7:04Speaker 2: It got to the point where there was absolutely no money.
- 7:07Speaker 2: And the soldiers weren't even getting paid. And after a
- 7:10Speaker 2: few months of not getting paid, the soldiers abandoned their posts.
- 7:14Speaker 2: So expect the same thing to start happening in Iran
- 7:17Speaker 2: with absolutely nobody getting paid anything. Al-Sayed, this is the
- 7:23Speaker 2: crazy socialist running in Michigan, Dr. Abdul Sayed, he went
- 7:30Speaker 2: on Jesse Waters' show last night. It was a risky move,
- 7:34Speaker 2: but I think it paid off for him. I think
- 7:36Speaker 2: it looked pretty good for him. Waters was arguing, and
- 7:41Speaker 2: they were both battling and fighting and arguing, but El
- 7:46Speaker 2: Sayed looked pretty good. He didn't lose his cool. He
- 7:48Speaker 2: stayed calm. I mean, everything he's saying is ridiculous, but
- 7:52Speaker 2: the problem with Waters, he didn't quite get to the
- 7:55Speaker 2: real heart of it. El Sayed kept coming back with, well,
- 7:59Speaker 2: don't you want to fix the roads? Don't you want to?
- 8:02Speaker 2: rebuild our infrastructure, don't you? And he never quite said him.
- 8:08Speaker 2: El-Sayed talking about taxing the rich and taxing more and
- 8:11Speaker 2: taking the money from the rich. And he never said
- 8:15Speaker 2: to him, you've already got the money. You've had the
- 8:17Speaker 2: money for years. The government's had the money. You just
- 8:19Speaker 2: spent 7 trillion this year. You waste it. You don't
- 8:23Speaker 2: fix the roads. You overpay for everything by 10,000% and
- 8:27Speaker 2: you never get anything fixed, anything done. It's not a
- 8:30Speaker 2: case of more revenue. It's control your spending. Now, at
- 8:35Speaker 2: one point he asked El-Sayed, he said, well, you know what,
- 8:38Speaker 2: what is the federal budget every year? It was interesting.
- 8:42Speaker 2: El-Sayed didn't know. It was like a Darlene Graham moment.
- 8:45Speaker 2: He had no idea what we spend every year, no
- 8:48Speaker 2: idea what the budget is. Now, the part everybody's talking
- 8:50Speaker 2: about is the, how did Jesse Waters put it? Castrating
- 8:57Speaker 2: your child, you know, trans this and that. Jesse Waters said,
- 9:02Speaker 2: cutting their ding-a-ling off. El-Sayed responded. People thought El-Sayed sort
- 9:08Speaker 2: of won this battle. So, Abdul, you're a doctor, right?
- 9:12Speaker 4: I am. So you think it's okay for a parent
- 9:14Speaker 4: to slash his kid's ding-a-ling off?
- 9:17Speaker 2: You think that's okay?
- 9:19Speaker 4: I mean, do you really want to have this conversation?
- 9:21Speaker 2: Are you circumcised?
- 9:22Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, but I mean, that's a personal question, doctor.
- 9:27Speaker 3: So you probably should want to move on.
- 9:29Speaker 2: You probably should want to move on. Yeah, so people
- 9:32Speaker 2: believe El-Sayed won that argument. Nobody, it's 8 o'clock at night,
- 9:36Speaker 2: you just ate, nobody wants to watch a discussion of
- 9:38Speaker 2: Jesse Waters' penis. This is not a subject that should
- 9:41Speaker 2: be on television. But, and again, I don't think he
- 9:45Speaker 2: responded well enough to El-Sayed. He should have said, you're
- 9:48Speaker 2: talking about circumcision, that's like comparing a manicure to amputating
- 9:52Speaker 2: your hand. I mean, it's not the same as chopping
- 9:56Speaker 2: the whole thing off. And he never quite got that out.
- 9:59Speaker 2: So El held his own, which is all you need
- 10:02Speaker 2: to do for the left-wing crowd. They're going to be
- 10:06Speaker 2: very happy with him. El-Sayed will be using the clip
- 10:10Speaker 2: showing you how he was very calm. He didn't lose
- 10:12Speaker 2: his cool. Stayed calm. Battled Jesse Waters. That'll help him
- 10:17Speaker 2: with his crazy baseball. And I don't know. You may
- 10:22Speaker 2: see him start doing more of these shows. You might
- 10:24Speaker 2: see El Sayad go do a few more of these shows.
- 10:27Speaker 2: He thought he did very well, and his base will
- 10:31Speaker 2: love it. Hey, tonight is the runoff. They've had the runoff.
- 10:35Speaker 2: North Carolina, the primaries tonight to decide who the nominee
- 10:39Speaker 2: will be. Darlene Graham, Lindsey Graham's sister. I don't think
- 10:44Speaker 2: she's going to have an easy time. She may not
- 10:46Speaker 2: win tonight because... The polls are very close. She's ahead
- 10:50Speaker 2: by like half a point. It's like 49 to 49.5.
- 10:53Speaker 2: And it's not really enough. And these polls aren't that accurate.
- 10:57Speaker 2: There's a margin of error of like three or four percent.
- 10:59Speaker 2: It all came down this moment in the debate where
- 11:03Speaker 2: she really she was very honest, very sweet here, very honest.
- 11:07Speaker 2: But she had to admit she was asked about China
- 11:09Speaker 2: and Taiwan. She had to admit she doesn't really know anything.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Senator, are Taiwan and the South China Sea national security
- 11:16Speaker 1: issues for the United States?
- 11:18Speaker 2: If so, why?
- 11:21Speaker 1: I'm sorry, could you repeat the question? Are Taiwan and
- 11:23Speaker 1: the South China Sea national security issues for the United States?
- 11:27Speaker 3: And if so, why or how?
- 11:31Speaker 1: I'm just going to be honest here. I'm not on
- 11:33Speaker 1: national security. I'm not that informed on national security. But
- 11:40Speaker 1: I do support the military.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not a good answer. She sounds like a
- 11:47Speaker 2: very genuine, sweet, nice person. But you can't, if you're
- 11:51Speaker 2: running for the Senate, you can't say in the debate,
- 11:54Speaker 2: you know, what's that, foreign policy? I don't know. I
- 11:57Speaker 2: don't follow that kind of stuff. You could say, well,
- 12:03Speaker 2: some are arguing this might have helped her with some people.
- 12:05Speaker 2: I don't buy this. But they're saying it might have
- 12:07Speaker 2: helped her because she looked like such an honest, genuine person.
- 12:11Speaker 2: You never hear that kind of honesty from a politician. Okay, yeah.
- 12:17Speaker 2: But on the other hand, you've just decided you're running
- 12:20Speaker 2: for Senate. Now, all of a sudden, you've got a
- 12:22Speaker 2: debate coming up in two weeks. Wouldn't you start studying
- 12:26Speaker 2: all this stuff? You know, if you've got a campaign team,
- 12:28Speaker 2: you've got these briefers. They brief you on every issue.
- 12:31Speaker 2: And obviously, if it's the Senate, it's all foreign policy
- 12:35Speaker 2: and economy. So you should have been briefed on it.
- 12:37Speaker 2: So she may have sounded very genuine and honest, but
- 12:40Speaker 2: she sounds kind of lazy. Like, you know, study for
- 12:44Speaker 2: the debate. Get ready for it. President Trump has had
- 12:47Speaker 2: the RNC pump a ton of money in there trying
- 12:50Speaker 2: to help her. He's been down there. He went down
- 12:52Speaker 2: there and had a big rally and campaign for her.
- 12:55Speaker 2: He's been trying to help her.
- 12:56Speaker 3: I mean, just so you understand, I like the other
- 12:58Speaker 3: people in the race also.
- 12:59Speaker 2: They're all Trump.
- 13:00Speaker 3: I mean, they're all Trumpers, but, you know, I endorsed her.
- 13:03Speaker 2: I think she's great.
- 13:05Speaker 3: It's really in honor of her brother, and she's really
- 13:08Speaker 3: a very smart woman.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Yeah, that's helicopter noise behind him. You know, if you
- 13:12Speaker 2: want to really sound impressive... It's one thing to have
- 13:15Speaker 2: a chauffeur, a car, a driver. Have a helicopter. Make
- 13:21Speaker 2: a noise behind you. Just like a helicopter you're ready
- 13:23Speaker 2: to get on. Just helicopter noise behind you. In fact,
- 13:25Speaker 2: when you call somebody, have a recording of it. Just
- 13:28Speaker 2: play it behind you. What's that noise? I'm about to
- 13:30Speaker 2: get on my helicopter. It's very, very impressive. So if
- 13:34Speaker 2: she doesn't win, it's, what's his name, Norman, who Trump
- 13:39Speaker 2: can live with. It's not his first choice, but he
- 13:42Speaker 2: can live with her. He'll win. He'll work it out.
- 13:45Speaker 2: In fact, they'll all be friends the next day. Hey,
- 13:48Speaker 2: a major movie theater is closing. We've lost all our
- 13:52Speaker 2: great movie theaters in New York City, in Manhattan. The
- 13:55Speaker 2: best one was right over there across the street, the
- 13:57Speaker 2: Ziegfeld Theater. That was the biggest theater. It was like
- 14:01Speaker 2: 2,500 seats. It was a big screen. And it had
- 14:06Speaker 2: that super surround sound, Dolby, whatever the hell that is stuff.
- 14:10Speaker 2: but it was an amazing theater to watch a movie.
- 14:12Speaker 2: I mean, it's the biggest screen in Manhattan. That's where
- 14:14Speaker 2: they had all the movie premieres because you could 2,500
- 14:16Speaker 2: people there and it was incredible. So they closed that.
- 14:20Speaker 2: It's now a venue. It's like a ballroom, the Ziegfeld Ballroom.
- 14:25Speaker 2: But the other great, the second biggest theater in New
- 14:28Speaker 2: York is the AMC Kipps Bay. It's whatever that is,
- 14:32Speaker 2: like 30th Street, 2nd Avenue. And it's one of those
- 14:35Speaker 2: AMC theaters. I went to a movie premiere there earlier
- 14:39Speaker 2: this year And they had redone the whole theater with
- 14:41Speaker 2: those incredible, the AMC is very good at this. They
- 14:44Speaker 2: put in these big recliner chairs. They're the most comfortable
- 14:47Speaker 2: chairs in the world. They got a tray on either side.
- 14:50Speaker 2: They got all kinds of food, not just popcorn and candy.
- 14:52Speaker 2: They got anything you want. It's amazing, these theaters. So
- 14:56Speaker 2: why is it closing? It was doing pretty well. Well,
- 14:59Speaker 2: nothing to do with its business as a theater. It
- 15:02Speaker 2: was doing okay. NYU Langone has bought the land. They're
- 15:06Speaker 2: taking over the whole thing. They're going to build a
- 15:08Speaker 2: massive hospital there NYU Langone, a very, very good hospital system,
- 15:13Speaker 2: one of our finest. But they are taking over. Obviously,
- 15:17Speaker 2: they've got a huge, huge, huge NYU hospital facility there.
- 15:23Speaker 2: And they've got these NYU Langone centers all over Manhattan
- 15:27Speaker 2: if you need to get a CAT scan or get
- 15:29Speaker 2: this or that. But they're building massive hospitals. There's going
- 15:33Speaker 2: to be one there. If you're out in Long Island,
- 15:36Speaker 2: you see it coming. There's a huge NYU Langone facility.
- 15:39Speaker 2: in uh already in long island and if you're in
- 15:42Speaker 2: huntington melville they're about to build probably the biggest hospital
- 15:46Speaker 2: in long island they're just getting bigger and bigger and
- 15:48Speaker 2: bigger these hospitals are becoming they're they're bigger than data
- 15:53Speaker 2: centers now this uh the opening these enormous facilities everywhere
- 15:59Speaker 2: so hey we'll get to data centers later we'll get
- 16:01Speaker 2: to uh well we got all kinds of things to
- 16:03Speaker 2: get to uh and we'll take some calls a little
- 16:06Speaker 2: later on uh uh Great being with you, 9 to noon.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Don't forget, it's three hours now. It's 9 to noon
- 16:13Speaker 2: every weekday here on 710WOR.
