- 3:10cold. Just had to put in a huge
- 3:14Walmart order for my son. And other than that, man, it's
- 3:18just been kind of just getting back in that routine and just
- 3:23it's kind of nice to have that again after the holidays and
- 3:26getting settled. And I'll be in New York here
- 3:30come next week. So we'll figure that out.
- 3:34Yes, we will. Got to plan all that, but yeah,
- 3:37just nice to kind of get back in the schedule and get on a
- 3:41routine. And yeah, it's just getting
- 3:45excited with, with everything that's going on right now.
- 3:48It's it's kind of been all crazy, like just just trying to
- 3:52digest all of what is going on in sports right now from so many
- 3:56different angles. It's my brain is hurting, but
- 4:02it's a great time of the year. So I'm excited to talk about it
- 4:04all and share and see what see what you guys think about.
- 4:07Indiana and Miami a National championship Indiana beats Miami
- 4:12in the national championship game 27 to 21 to finish off an
- 4:16undefeated season a win and win their first title in school
- 4:21history. Both teams started slow
- 4:22offensively until Indiana had 1414 play 85 yard touchdown
- 4:28drive in the second corner to give them a 10 nothing lead.
- 4:33Mark Fletcher Junior had a 57 yard touchdown run to open up
- 4:38the second-half. After Miami had just 61 yards in
- 4:42the entire first half. Indiana black the punt later in
- 4:46the third quarter and recovered it for a touchdown to extend
- 4:49their lead 17 to 7. After Miami responded to make it
- 4:5417 to 14, Fernando Mendoza got his only touchdown in the game,
- 4:59a 12 yard rushing touchdown on 1/4 down and 4th 4.
- 5:03Indiana converted to 4th downs on that drive.
- 5:08Miami responded to make it 2421 on a 22 yard touchdown pass from
- 5:15Carson Beck to Malachi Tony. After Indiana made it 2721 with
- 5:21a field goal, Miami had one more chance, but Carson Beck threw an
- 5:26interception and Indiana won their first National
- 5:30Championship. There's a lot of layers in this
- 5:34game. And here's the thing, I am a
- 5:37Mendoza fan. I love Fernando Mendoza, but
- 5:41throughout the playoffs, Fernando Mendoza was not good.
- 5:44I don't care what anybody says. He did not show me why he should
- 5:49be the number one pick in this year's draft.
- 5:51Now he will be and I love him and I know Jeff is not a big fan
- 5:55of him. And he said, Jeff told me
- 5:57straight out that there is not a quarterback that should be
- 6:01drafted at #1 in this class. He said that to me.
- 6:06And maybe he's right. And now that Dante Moore has
- 6:09gone back to college, he will be the only quarterback drafted in
- 6:12the top ten this year. The the, the one thing that
- 6:16shined for Mendoza in this game was that fourth and four in the
- 6:21fourth quarter. It was a gutsy call.
- 6:25A gutsy call. You see, you see his forearm
- 6:28after the game. Yes, it it to me.
- 6:32The dude's toughest nails. Signetti made gutsy call after
- 6:38gutsy call throughout the game. He really did.
- 6:42And you got to give Signetti a lot of credit because he has
- 6:44been the best coach in the NCAA for back-to-back years.
- 6:48He goes over there to Indiana in his first year and goes to a
- 6:51national championship undefeated on guys that were in the portal.
- 6:56Think about that. Five star recruits?
- 7:00Not really. Mendoza wasn't even his recruit.
- 7:03He came from Cal. Think about that and you watch
- 7:09this game and Miami did what they were supposed to do.
- 7:12Bane was all over the play. Mazda door was all over the
- 7:15place. They were doing everything that
- 7:17they needed to do to keep the game close.
- 7:21That's what they did. The secondary Lucas was great.
- 7:25To me. Miami did what they needed to
- 7:28do. They did more in this game that
- 7:30Oregon and everybody else did against this Indiana Hoosier
- 7:34team that was just absolutely dominant throughout this playoff
- 7:38run, throughout the season in so many aspects.
- 7:43But here's the thing, Carson Beck has made enough mistakes
- 7:49over the years. Carson Beck's was Carson Beck
- 7:51was supposed to walk away from football.
- 7:53He was thinking about walking away from football before he
- 7:55decided to go to Miami. Miami took a chance with him.
- 8:00They snuck into this playoff. They made a lot of noise.
- 8:05They knocked off the Ohio State Buckeyes.
- 8:09They beat the national champion last year.
- 8:13And to me, a lot of people's pick to win everything this
- 8:17year. And what made it so sensational
- 8:20to watch all season long was Miami getting better and better.
- 8:25The coach and I, I pronounce his name.
- 8:28Cristobal. Cristobal who who was
- 8:30sensational all all season long and even at the end of the game,
- 8:34you got to give Crystal Ball a little bit more credit because
- 8:37he gave a shout out to Indiana. He gave a shout out to the Miami
- 8:41Hoosier. I mean, Indiana, who's your fans
- 8:44and how they showed up in Miami? As loud as they were, this was
- 8:48Miami. They had a home game.
- 8:52Think about that. Nobody expected Miami to be in
- 8:56this championship game, but they played in their home field.
- 9:01Think about it. And to go out to the Hoosier
- 9:03showing up, the fan showing up as much as they did and the way
- 9:08they just caused so much havoc. You or you saw Carson Beck when
- 9:13he was at the line of scrimmage trying to hold his ears because
- 9:15he couldn't hear anything says a lot about the Indiana Hoosier
- 9:20fans. So I I mean, the game was fun to
- 9:24watch. This was a great championship
- 9:26game and, and, and all you wanted to see was Miami get a
- 9:30chance to win because Miami had a chance to win this game.
- 9:34They did. You got to admit, first half was
- 9:36all slow. Yeah, it was.
- 9:37It was boring it. Was really the first quarter.
- 9:39I think it got good after that. It was.
- 9:41Boring 10 Nothing. You thought this was going to be
- 9:44a blow out after the first half, you thought that how?
- 9:47Big Do you think that Doink kicked when he hit the upright
- 9:51to end the end the first half? It it.
- 9:54Hurt them having no points on the.
- 9:56Board it hurt, but you can't make that excuse now because
- 9:59they still won by 6. I'm not saying at least you got
- 10:01points on the board going into the.
- 10:02Half now, let's say if they lost 24 to 21 and then then you're
- 10:07going to look at that kick and you're going to be like, oh, you
- 10:10know, if he hit that, the game could have been different.
- 10:14But it was just the battle of the coaches and I I got it.
- 10:20Like I said, Cignetti has had such a great season.
- 10:24This guy deserves a lot of credit.
- 10:26If the Raiders want to reach out to him, if they think they're
- 10:29bringing Mendoza in and they can try to pry or ply or whatever
- 10:33word you want to use to take him away from Indiana and Hoosier
- 10:37Nation, to bring him to Las Vegas to coach his quarterback,
- 10:42that would be an absolute slam dunk.
- 10:44Give him whatever he wants. Cignetti did what he needed to
- 10:47do. This was one of the greatest
- 10:48runs we've ever seen a football team have.
- 10:52Think about this. They were undefeated with to me
- 10:55when the playoffs was never like this.
- 10:57Think about this, they won a national championship.
- 11:00Going through how many teams think about it, this is might be
- 11:04one of the greatest playoff runs we will ever see in history.
- 11:09The way the Indiana Hoosiers played in this game.
- 11:12And I you got to give just a lot of credit to just Mendoza when
- 11:17he needed to make the play, he made the play.
- 11:19I mean that play was unbelievable.
- 11:21I mean, to escape, to go inside and out of the pocket and and
- 11:24get hit the way he did and, and to make that spinning move to
- 11:28get to the end zone was amazing. His mom cheering, his mom I, I
- 11:32don't remember what she has. What is?
- 11:34That multiple sclerosis and and to see her she's.
- 11:39Got it. Since she's been 18, yeah.
- 11:41Yeah, they've raised a lot of the NIL funding and there's
- 11:44another foundation that's like I think 7.27 hundred $20,000 or
- 11:48something they've raised for. That it was just, and to see his
- 11:51father and his mother and even on his brother, his brother on
- 11:54the sidelines tutoring and it's it's fun to watch.
- 11:57And Mendoza, you know, he's a Cuban American Christian who
- 12:01went out there after the game and it when everybody thinks God
- 12:05but, and I don't know if I'm not saying that those guys don't
- 12:08mean it, but you know, sincerely, this man absolutely
- 12:12means it. He feels it.
- 12:14And it's just an amazing story guy.
- 12:17This If you're there's a season that you want to have or you
- 12:20want to remember as a player, to win a Heisman Trophy, to win a
- 12:23national championship, to do it the way they did it on an
- 12:26undefeated year, I think this was the ultimate like greatest
- 12:30season a player could ever have Speedy.
- 12:33Yeah, it's the combination of everything that works.
- 12:35And you talked about with the way that Mendoza behaved at the
- 12:38Heisman, he knew he was still that team.
- 12:40First, I was there, I saw everything you.
- 12:42You were mentioning how such a team first guy he was and I
- 12:44think he accepted his role. We talked about in the in the
- 12:46during the NFL playoffs with CJ Stroud with the Texas Patriots.
- 12:49I don't know if he knew how to accept his role when he had such
- 12:51a flashy rookie year and now all of a sudden he has big game
- 12:54managing quarterback. I think Mendoza knew he had to
- 12:56be a game managing quarterback because of the way this Miami
- 12:58pass force was doing now. I think Indiana's offensive line
- 13:00held their own better than I. Thought secondary was great and
- 13:03for for Miami. Too.
- 13:04Yes, Miami secondary, I think made a lot of interesting
- 13:07coverage disguises. They had to do a lot of
- 13:09contested catches in the first half of that game.
- 13:11And even in the third quarter, Indiana's receivers held their
- 13:14own and I think won some of those battles.
- 13:15But it wasn't enough where you were saying, all right, this guy
- 13:17is a lot of spacing like you saw in the Oregon game, a lot of
- 13:20spacing like you saw at points during the Alabama game and they
- 13:23were getting all those yards for the catch.
- 13:25It was really the Indiana running game that was doing a
- 13:26lot in the Indiana in a defense in the special teams with a
- 13:29block punt doing a lot of it. And Miami, there were points.
- 13:32I thought they were out playing them because Tony was getting a
- 13:35lot of space, they were getting yards after the catch, they were
- 13:37extending drives. They just stalled a lot of the
- 13:39time at midfield in the beginning.
- 13:40The missed field goal hurt Job. I think he's missed 4 kicks
- 13:43already this tournament, which hasn't helped in Miami special
- 13:47teams department. But there were points of it
- 13:48where they just had to do enough and they just never could finish
- 13:52drives in the red zone. And that was I.
- 13:53Think what a Jagger that block punt was too.
- 13:56That was a dagger. I mean, think about that.
- 13:59If they didn't block that punt and it wasn't a touchdown, Miami
- 14:02wins the game. Yeah, Miami wins the game,
- 14:04right? Because you're looking at a
- 14:05defensive duel in the second-half the way that that
- 14:07turned around. But now Indiana's back up by 10.
- 14:10It changes a lot with Miami's playbook.
- 14:12Mark Fletcher was getting it going with the running game
- 14:13standpoint, but now you can't run the ball as much down 10.
- 14:17And Tony did everything he could pretty much will his team back.
- 14:20But Indiana's offense just getting too much time of
- 14:22possession. And I think Steve White was
- 14:24talking about it last week with the NFL, how much time of
- 14:26possession that certain teams have had in the playoffs.
- 14:28Indiana's time possession, even though those drives they didn't
- 14:31score, were a big difference in why Miami could never get
- 14:33comfortable with their offensive game plan either.
- 14:36Yeah, no, I mean, for me it was, you see the first half and what
- 14:39Carson Beck obviously being in position, Mendoza having the
- 14:43year that he's had, I mean, he only had 100 and what, 16 yards
- 14:46in the first half. Carson Beck had like 86, right.
- 14:49But I think when when you put it together, we always talked about
- 14:53being in that experience and and understanding what it takes to
- 14:56win. It became a tale of two halves
- 14:59and that at one point they were both equal in yards, in the
- 15:02second are total yards at 318. And so they were kind of in that
- 15:07same realm. But then I think just Mendoza's
- 15:11composure and just how much more elite he is as a quarterback.
- 15:17And I'm just going to say it like how big his balls are.
- 15:22And it showed in the way he did things.
- 15:25And, you know, when he carries himself in a way that people now
- 15:31are sometimes questioning, is he too nice?
- 15:34Well, I don't know if there's a thing that's too nice.
- 15:37Obviously you have to have a chip on your shoulder.
- 15:39And obviously he has that chip because he wouldn't be that.
- 15:42But he's also surrounded by great players and great coaches.
- 15:46But just the way that he constructed and how he did.
- 15:50Like if you heard the interview after the game, like he he could
- 15:55have checked that off to a pass and he said it and he literally
- 16:01just was like, hey, we're going to go for it.
- 16:04And he goes the offensive lineman and being selfless, like
- 16:08there are times you have to give yourself a little bit of credit.
- 16:11Like obviously you didn't get to that position without your
- 16:13offensive line and all those guys.
- 16:16But like he did a little bit if you read between the lines,
- 16:20because he was like, yeah, I could have checked off.
- 16:22I could have done this. This was this was the option of
- 16:24what it was. And he goes, I looked at it and
- 16:26said, hell, here we go. One of one of his one of the
- 16:30best offensive lineman's in the country on on Indiana at the end
- 16:35of the game if he didn't make that penalty, if he didn't step
- 16:37off. Yeah, they don't get a chance.
- 16:39He's literally one of the best offensive line and gets the
- 16:42roughing to pass there. Number 97, I don't remember his
- 16:46name, but yeah, it doesn't even give them a chance to do.
- 16:49But that second, I've made it so fun because it was literally
- 16:54talking to everybody. They were like, and I don't know
- 16:56if you guys felt this way and then people you talked to, they
- 16:58were like, it's either going to be a boat race or it's going to
- 17:01be really close. And after the first half, I
- 17:04didn't know what to think at that point.
- 17:06I was like, are they going to come out?
- 17:08And then obviously Miami comes out, scores quick, then Indiana
- 17:12scores and they come back with a 91 yard drive with like in I
- 17:16think it took 2 minutes. That was that was both teams.
- 17:18They were all methodical drive so they scored them besides
- 17:20Fletcher's big play. Yeah, so it was after the first
- 17:26half I just, I kind of was just shaking my head and I'm like,
- 17:29well, I guess we'll see what happens to make adjustments and
- 17:33what. And then I, I felt the
- 17:35second-half was going to be the way the whole game was going to
- 17:37be. Personally, that's the way I
- 17:39felt. And, but that second-half was,
- 17:43was absolutely incredible. And it was so fun to see guys
- 17:46making plays all over the field and just a really good.
- 17:49I, I didn't like what Fletcher did after the game, think that
- 17:53was unwarranted and not needed. And it kind of took away from
- 17:56the celebration a little bit, But that's neither here nor
- 17:58there. But I, I, I think it lived up to
- 18:00the hype. And you know, hats off to to
- 18:03those guys and and Indiana Hoosiers.
- 18:05And are they are they a basketball score?
- 18:08Are they a football school? Now that's a question.
- 18:10Yeah, well, Mike Woodson's coaching there now, so we'll see
- 18:13if they can get their basketball program going.
- 18:15But I before we move on, I just want to mention Carl in the
- 18:17comments section to Miami out gaining Indiana.
- 18:19I need a little more air yards for Carson Beck on that last
- 18:21throw. And yeah, that would that's
- 18:22always been his flaws. Never been a big arm guy but
- 18:25just needed to do a little more there.
- 18:27All right, all the Giant fans couldn't wait for this segment
- 18:30and I'm going to give you my take now.
- 18:32Adam Schefner reports that the Giants have hired John Harbaugh
- 18:35to be their next head coach. Schefner added that the Giants
- 18:39will pay John Harbaugh A5 year $100 million deal, trying him or
- 18:44tying him with Andy Reed for the largest deal in NFL history
- 18:49really as a head coach in the league.
- 18:51The Athletic reports that Joe Shane will stay as the Giants
- 18:55general manager, but Harbaugh will have a lot of say in the
- 18:58offseason decisions and both guys will have to report to the
- 19:02owner. Who does this sound like, ladies
- 19:04and gentlemen? ESPN Jordan Rodham reports that
- 19:10Harbaugh believed that the Giants were in a better position
- 19:13than the Falcons and the Titans, the only other two teams that
- 19:18interviewed him. ESPN reports that the Giants
- 19:21interviewed 8 other coaches, including Kevin Stefanski, Vance
- 19:24Joseph and Mike McCarthy. The Ravens offensive
- 19:28coordinator, Todd Monken, is expected to follow Harbaugh to
- 19:34New York as long as he doesn't get a head coaching job
- 19:39elsewhere. Harbaugh was hired about a week
- 19:43after being fired by the Ravens after an 889 season.
- 19:49I'm sorry. Which is still more wins than
- 19:52the Giants have had in the last two seasons who have gone 7 and
- 19:5727. Well here's my take for all you
- 20:03Giant fans out there that are probably going to hate me after
- 20:06this. I love John Horrible.
- 20:10I think he's a great coach, but there's no way in hell he
- 20:14believes that the Giants have more talent and has a better
- 20:19roster than the Atlanta Falcons for him to sell that to anybody.
- 20:25Tells me how stupid he really believes New York fans or Titan
- 20:30or Atlanta fans believe he thinks they are.
- 20:36I do not believe at any point whatsoever John Horrible had any
- 20:41interest in going to the Atlanta Falcons or the Titans.
- 20:44It was always the New York Giants.
- 20:46Or sit out for the season and wait until he sees what's out
- 20:49there next year. He only took this New York
- 20:52Giants job because the Giants were willing to pay him.
- 20:55Think about this. He is $100 million richer.
- 20:59It's guaranteed. Jon Gruden got $100 million
- 21:02guarantee contract. And boy, oh boy, he's singing to
- 21:04the the league, ladies and gentlemen, he's going because
- 21:08he's making himself a lot of extra money after he sued the
- 21:12NFL. But here's the facts, guys.
- 21:16The Giants don't know what they're going to be doing with
- 21:19Dexter Lawrence in the off season because they have no
- 21:21money. They're $11 million rich to go
- 21:25out there for free agents this year.
- 21:29They don't have a lot of draft stock.
- 21:31They don't have The Jets draft stock.
- 21:33The Atlanta Falcons lost a lot of draft stock because they made
- 21:35that move. But look at the talent that they
- 21:37have on the defensive line. Now I'm going.
- 21:39To say it's their best pass rush they've ever had, that's.
- 21:41That's I'm just saying think about that.
- 21:44To go out there and think that the Giants have more talent, Why
- 21:47Jackson Dart? What has Jackson Dart done so
- 21:50far? Please tell me, sell it to me,
- 21:53Giant fans. He looked good.
- 21:56I like Jackson. He could be a great quarterback.
- 21:59Let me ask you guys a question. John Harbaugh is a great coach.
- 22:04We all know the greats that he coached.
- 22:06Ed Reed, was he his guy? Speedy, was he his guy?
- 22:10Suggs, was he the guy? His guy?
- 22:12Ray Lewis, was he his guy? But they want a Super Bowl.
- 22:15Joe Flacco, was he his guy? Yes.
- 22:17John Harbaugh does to me. Lamar Jackson didn't want him
- 22:20there and that's why he is swimming and he was looking for
- 22:23a new job. His guy that he developed didn't
- 22:26want him there. And if you look at the teams
- 22:28that he has developed over the years, have they won a Super
- 22:31Bowl besides the one that was really put together before he
- 22:35was there? The answer would be no.
- 22:38No. So who's he developed, what team
- 22:42and what players besides Lamar Jackson and quote UN quote, Joe
- 22:46Flacco, who is not a Hall of Famer?
- 22:51Tell me the answer would be nobody.
- 22:54So the Giants reached they could have hired Kevin Stefanski, Mike
- 22:59McCarthy, guys that I believe are a better fit as far as I'm
- 23:04concerned when it comes to the quarterback in Jackson Dart, if
- 23:07you want to develop him. And to think, and I'm I'm not a
- 23:10Kevin Stefanski fan when it comes to developing quarterbacks
- 23:12because he couldn't do it over there and with the Browns, but
- 23:14at least he won coach of the year twice.
- 23:18Mike McCarthy was the guy. He was the guy.
- 23:21He developed Aaron Rodgers, he developed Dak Prescott.
- 23:26Say whatever you want. You want to make jokes.
- 23:27He did. And maybe he doesn't interview
- 23:31very well because Mike McCarthy still not hired by anybody.
- 23:36Todd Munkin and I got news for you guys.
- 23:39Lamar Jackson did not like, he did not want to be coached by
- 23:41Monken. So you Giant fans better hope
- 23:44that Jackson, Lawrence Jackson Dart likes Todd Monken because
- 23:50Lamar Jackson didn't. And I, I, I got to give him a
- 23:53little bit of credit. John Harbaugh is a great
- 23:56personality. He'll be great for the players.
- 23:59I I don't know if he's a developmental coach and I know
- 24:02Giant fans are going to attack me on this And and I know Giant
- 24:04fans believe that he'll make them a competent team this year,
- 24:08even though they're going into a season with very lean of money
- 24:12and they're going to have to move one of these guys including
- 24:15and one of those guys might be Dexter Lawrence.
- 24:17How is that going to work when you're losing a guy that was
- 24:19injured all season long and he's your best defensive player in my
- 24:23eyes? I know what Burns did this year,
- 24:26but he's not next to Lawrence. Let's be honest.
- 24:30I just and I don't trust Joe Shane and I don't trust John
- 24:34Mayra. And by the fact that you're
- 24:36hearing that they have to go to ownership, they it reminds me of
- 24:39Woody Johnson that when did have you ever heard AGM and a coach
- 24:45have to go and speak to the Giants brass?
- 24:49Never. I've never heard this.
- 24:51Tom Coughlin never had to go and speak to John Mayra.
- 24:54Never. Bill Parcells never had to do
- 24:57that. Think about that.
- 25:00What it tells me right now is they're transitioning into the
- 25:04teams in the organizations that have failed to do the right
- 25:07thing for their organization. And that, ladies and gentlemen,
- 25:11is guys and team. I'm sorry, guys like Woody
- 25:14Johnson and the New York Football Jets.
- 25:16So we go back and we talk about John Horrible and his
- 25:20announcement in his press conference today.
- 25:23John is a likable person. You got to like him and he he
- 25:26speaks very well about the New York Giants organization and
- 25:28that this was the team. And I, I'm going to, I'm going
- 25:32to be as graceful and, and happy to be here just as much as I was
- 25:36with the Ravens. This is a one of the the top
- 25:39organizations in the NFL and all this lovely, great things that
- 25:42you heard John Mayer, John Harble say and, and John Mayer
- 25:45say about John Harble at the press conference.
- 25:49Here's the facts. John Horrible has not won
- 25:54anything since that Super Bowl. He failed to beat the Kansas
- 25:59City Chiefs. Year of.
- 26:01What was it 3 years ago, Two years ago in the AFC title game,
- 26:06AFC title game, when you were the better team, you were by far
- 26:12the better team than the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 26:16It was a failure. And John, you're the reason why
- 26:18they failed. Your defensive coach in
- 26:23McDonald, he goes over there to Baltimore.
- 26:24Your defense was one of the worst defenses in the NFL this
- 26:28year. Why, John, why do you think
- 26:30nobody wanted you there anymore? Because guess what?
- 26:35Your coaches are gone now. You're reaching.
- 26:38You're trying to find guys from the, you know, the the escape
- 26:41route. I'm trying to find somebody
- 26:43that's going to fit in as a Baltimore Ravens defensive
- 26:46minded coach. But by the way, your defensive
- 26:49coordinator there sucked and you suck.
- 26:53So giant fans. You can attack me on my take.
- 26:56You can attack me till I'm blue in the face.
- 26:59This was a bad hire and the only reason why is Joe Shane's there.
- 27:03If Joe Shane goes, you're going to have John Harbaugh choose his
- 27:07GM. Well, how does that work?
- 27:09When have you heard your coach ever pick the GM?
- 27:14Sweetie, could you tell me the last time you can remember a
- 27:17head coach pick his GM? I'm going to tell you.
- 27:19I believe it's your boy. Kyle Shanahan and how many Super
- 27:23Bowls have they won? 0.
- 27:25Zero. That's right, ladies and
- 27:28gentlemen, I'm not striking. I'm hitting home runs.
- 27:33And here's the home run for you Giant fans.
- 27:36When you hear any of the thoughts of your coach coming
- 27:41out there and saying that this is a better roster than the
- 27:45Atlanta Falcons only tells you what you know.
- 27:48And we know about your head coach.
- 27:51He is dumb. Absolutely dumb.
- 27:55Yeah, I don't know where you're seeing they have more talent on
- 27:58the Atlanta Falcons, maybe besides the front 7.
- 28:01And that's even close because Atlanta pass rush, like we said,
- 28:04even though they traded up a lot to get that second, second,
- 28:07first round pick, that pass rush duo for the Atlanta Falcons did
- 28:10very well. And their interior has been
- 28:12pretty good all year. And their secondary is a lot
- 28:15better than the Giants. And this is the same Joe Shane
- 28:17that spent a lot in the secondary this offseason and it
- 28:19didn't amount to much of anything.
- 28:20Their run defense was historically bad.
- 28:22They were second worst in the NFL this year, even with
- 28:24Lawrence having go. Ask, go ask Joe Shane who his
- 28:27number one pick was in his first draft.
- 28:30How good is he? Yeah, your corner, who everybody
- 28:33says is the worst corner in NFL history.
- 28:35Oh yeah, well, that's not ideal. And then he also that's.
- 28:39Joe Shane, ladies and gentlemen, combined attack with the one and
- 28:43only guy you call your head coach now, John Horrible, who is
- 28:47$100 million richer. And then you also have to deal
- 28:50with a lot of these other guys that while they have produced at
- 28:53times are still inconsistent. You have a complete bust with
- 28:56Evan Neal, who doesn't even start even this season when the
- 28:58Giants off. Another Joe Shane guy.
- 29:00Yep, that was his first. Draft Yvonne Thibodeau.
- 29:04Is a mystery because you have $11 million of salary cap.
- 29:07You have Abdul Carter there now as a second guy on a rookie
- 29:10contract to go along with Burns. Like, do you pay him?
- 29:12Do you trust anything to pay him?
- 29:14At this point, he probably seems like the most reasonable trade
- 29:17value casualty because you game the fifth year option.
- 29:20But again, going back to what you're inheriting, you're
- 29:23inheriting Joe Shane's team with Joe Shane now trying to make
- 29:25more decisions to try to make this roster better.
- 29:27And it's just a not an ideal thing.
- 29:29And John Harbaugh, obviously what worked under Ozzie Newsome
- 29:31was one of the best GMs this era that we've seen develop great
- 29:35talent with the Ravens. But like you said, the Ravens
- 29:38core since I think he had to restart it after that Super Bowl
- 29:42hasn't been the same as much. They had some good defensive
- 29:44players. Marlin Humphrey I would say was
- 29:45good. CJ Mosley when he was there was
- 29:47good. They've had some good ones, but
- 29:48not enough enough where there's enough consistency on key
- 29:51positions. Corner depth, edge rushers has
- 29:54always been a big problem for the Ravens and receivers
- 29:57especially has been a big problem for the Ravens.
- 29:59Guess what's the problem for the Giants besides the leak
- 30:01neighbors who's not 100% healthy wide receivers.
- 30:03Yeah, good luck trying to find that, Joe Shane, because you
- 30:05haven't done it all that time. Now you bring in John Harbaugh
- 30:07coming in from the Ravens disciple.
- 30:09Have that work. Too.
- 30:10And you have neighbors coming back from a big injury.
- 30:12You don't know what you're going to get.
- 30:14Out of the Robinson? Come on now.
- 30:15Who had finally a Goodyear? They're not going to be able to
- 30:18signify that he's not going to be able to sign him because he's
- 30:20going to be asking a lot of money.
- 30:22He was one of the elite wide receivers in the league in top
- 30:24ten in catches. I mean, and and looks to me he's
- 30:29the blanket for your guy Jackson Dart and now he's going to go to
- 30:33free agency. He's going to get a lot of
- 30:35money. He'll.
- 30:35Probably. He'll probably go to the Chiefs
- 30:36and be like in a pro. Bowler over there or something.
- 30:38He's going to get a lot of money in the offseason and the Giants
- 30:41don't have the money to pay him. So where does Jackson Dart go
- 30:44next year, and why does any Giant fan believe that this move
- 30:47is going to make them that much better?
- 30:49Yeah, there you can't expect anything to be an instant
- 30:51success by any means. Now when I posted your article,
- 30:54you check out Errol article on John Harbaugh on the Worldwide
- 30:56Sports Radio Network when I posted it.
- 30:58On I Love It 20,000 fans. Yes, on our on our Reddit board,
- 31:01there were a lot of Giants fans were being realistic saying 6-7
- 31:04win season probably is all we're going to expect that of them.
- 31:06But there are others that I had those expectations that it's
- 31:09higher. You can't expect it to be a
- 31:11quick fix overnight. This is a guy that is a veteran
- 31:14head coach. Yeah, he had a great first year
- 31:16with the Ravens. He went to the AFC championship
- 31:18game with Flacco. But again, those types of years
- 31:20don't happen all the time, and you can't expect it to happen
- 31:23instantly in just one year of a turn around.
- 31:26He's no Tom Coughlin, right? He's no Bill Parcells.
- 31:31Yeah, and I was going to say the Giants roster is not anywhere
- 31:34close to where that Ravens roster was at the time.
- 31:37They had one bad year. Their team got a little old,
- 31:39fine. The Giants team is, I guess, on
- 31:42the younger side, but they're not super young either with a
- 31:44ton of upside where you could expect it to be turned around
- 31:46right away in a division that's pretty tough.
- 31:48Eagles, Cowboys. Cowboys should get better this
- 31:50offseason with the draft stock they have in Washington.
- 31:52They're not going to be as bad as they were like this year,
- 31:54like they were unlucky. You can't sell me.
- 31:57You can't sell me when when you hear your job, your coach come
- 32:00out and say that this is the best roster, this is the best
- 32:03team out of the teams that he was interviewing with, maybe
- 32:06they're better than the Titans. You can argue better than the
- 32:09Titans. You can argue that you can
- 32:11argue. That like we were ranking it
- 32:13last week. I was definitely saying Atlanta
- 32:15was the one. Now we know the bills are open.
- 32:17The Bills are probably #1 now the Ravens and the Steelers are
- 32:20both better. Obviously, I was on the fence of
- 32:23even thinking Arizona was just as good as the Giants, right?
- 32:25Right now the Giants are probably more upside.
- 32:27But again, you can't expect a quick fix right now with with
- 32:31John Harbaugh. Is it a good move?
- 32:32Maybe. But again, I agree with you.
- 32:34I would rather have a McCarthy. It's a stabilizer.
- 32:36Maybe the Giants do need A and then.
- 32:38You got and you got guys like Fish coming out and I love you.
- 32:41Fish and I, I, I had my take on Fish.
- 32:44If you read the story, you'll probably laugh.
- 32:45And Fish didn't like some of the takes that I shot at him the
- 32:49hip. And that's what I do.
- 32:50Ladies and gentlemen, I'm not going to beat around the Bush.
- 32:52I love Fish. Fish is my guy.
- 32:54But I'm not going to beat around the Bush.
- 32:56I'm going to come out and I'm going to come out strong.
- 32:58If you're a Giant fan and you're going to sit here and you're
- 33:01going to try to sell me this and you're going to try to argue
- 33:03with me about all John Horrible's going to make a
- 33:05difference. But then you don't know
- 33:06football. You don't know football.
- 33:09Because the fact here is John Horrible had the best
- 33:13quarterback in the NFL on his roster.
- 33:16Has he won anything with him? No Will and it Was he going to
- 33:20win anything? No, and that's why Lamar Jackson
- 33:23didn't want him there anymore. Lamar said I had enough with
- 33:26John. I want somebody else in there, a
- 33:29younger voice, a better voice and a voice that's going to help
- 33:32me get over the hump because God knows John Harbaugh wasn't and
- 33:36that is a fact. And by the way, you Baltimore
- 33:39Raven fans out there, don't cry. Don't cry because you still have
- 33:43an elite quarterback. And if there's anybody that I
- 33:47trust in an organization that's going to find the right guy,
- 33:51Ozzie Newsome is still there. He's still working with the
- 33:54organization. He's still there.
- 33:56If there's anybody that's going to choose the right guy, that's
- 33:59going to put them in the right position to succeed, it's Ozzie
- 34:01Newsome. And thank God it wasn't Robert
- 34:04Sala. Yeah, that doesn't Bola with
- 34:05that one. But before you go job, I just
- 34:07want to mention this too. Like I'd rather have Harbaugh
- 34:10than a lot of these flashy rookie coaches, Kubiak or any
- 34:13one of those guys that would have been available.
- 34:15Because again, I don't think the Giants are one coach away.
- 34:17I don't think I don't think you can expect a transformation like
- 34:20you saw with Houston their rookie year or Washington the
- 34:24the previous year like those kinds of things.
- 34:26Things just don't happen overnight.
- 34:27So I'm fine with the culture stabilizer guy for that kind of
- 34:30thing. But again, to expect John
- 34:31Harbaugh to put them in or any coach don't really put them as
- 34:34an instant contender is something that's could be
- 34:36questioned. Now, I'm fine with the money.
- 34:37I mentioned it last year with Ben Johnson.
- 34:39The Bears had to take a big swing for Ben Johnson, even have
- 34:41to pay more. And look how it's turned out for
- 34:43them. But the Bears have a lot more
- 34:44talent than the Giants do too. A lot more.
- 34:46Yeah. And it was just being wasted by
- 34:48even worse coach and a lot more money.
- 34:50Brian Davis, a lot more draft stock.
- 34:52Brian Davis looks like a a a genius compared to about ever
- 34:55flu spots. Nevertheless, Todd Monkey, if he
- 34:58does go over there, hopefully we get the Tampa version of him.
- 35:00That was a little more pass. Happy for Jackson darts to
- 35:03develop and not the run heavy type kind of hybrid that you saw
- 35:06with Lamar Jackson because that kind of system is not going to
- 35:08work with dart otherwise it's running the ground.
- 35:11No, I, I wanted to switch gears a little bit and, and you kind
- 35:14of touched on it with the Ben Johnson thing.
- 35:16I I find it very interesting in in these contracts that these
- 35:21coaches are getting. Well, coaches don't count
- 35:23against the cap, so that's why I'm OK with the deal.
- 35:25OK, So that for me it's like trying to understand because
- 35:29obviously players we go against players and contracts and how we
- 35:31see it and obviously that doesn't go against the cap, but
- 35:35do do is there any like system that they use as far as what it
- 35:41is or is it just? Like, no, it's just the owner.
- 35:43It's just the ownership has to pay, but they're fine with
- 35:45paying it. The Raiders are still paying Jon
- 35:46Gruden. I wrote that up earlier.
- 35:48Yes, I did, but it's just it's fascinating to me, like learning
- 35:53a lot from you guys and where my brain kicks in and I'm like, OK,
- 35:57well, coach wise, it's like now he's guys paid like does.
- 36:03Is there ramifications from other sides?
- 36:04Because we've obviously seen with Sean Payton and people can
- 36:07trade for Tomlin because they saw his rights for another year.
- 36:10And we've seen obviously Sean Payton when he went to the
- 36:12Broncos with with draft picks and stuff like that, is do do
- 36:16they release the description of their contract or is it just
- 36:20they don't? Have to again, it's they're
- 36:23under the difference with that is they're under the team
- 36:25control with with the Saints, the Saints got a first round
- 36:27pick. They drafted Brian Breece.
- 36:28He was a good defensive tackle with that pick.
- 36:30In this case, with the in the case with the Raiders, it was a
- 36:33whole because it was a resignation, it was a whole
- 36:35buyout thing. And I would imagine it's the
- 36:37same kind of thing if it doesn't work out with a.
- 36:38Giant and Mike Tomley got himself a lot of money from
- 36:41wherever he's going to be work. I think he's working for Fox
- 36:43now. He he could sit out for a couple
- 36:46of years if he wants. I don't think he will.
- 36:48He'll stay out for a year and then decide, hey, you know what,
- 36:52I could come back or I could coach this team or some team
- 36:55will go out there and offer him a significant portion of money.
- 36:59So I don't believe in any part of what I have seen over the
- 37:04last couple of years when it comes to coaches that have sit
- 37:07out like a Rex Ryan who never came back.
- 37:10I cannot see Mike Tomlin sitting out long enough like his his
- 37:13predecessor and Coward who decided, oh, I don't need to go
- 37:16back. Tomlin loves the game too much.
- 37:18And and Tomlin, remember he got the job when he was 34 years
- 37:21old. He's still fairly young.
- 37:23He's what, 52 years old? He's still very young.
- 37:26He's as a head coach. He's got a lot of years left if
- 37:29he wants another job. I just don't believe there's any
- 37:32jobs that interest him going into this offseason.
- 37:35So he's going to take the money as a broadcaster and spend time
- 37:38with his family. And next year, if a team is out
- 37:41there that has tremendous, A tremendous amount of talent and
- 37:44draft stock. I'm mentioning one if if Aaron
- 37:47Glenn fails, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a phone
- 37:50call from Woody Johnson. It it's typical because Miami is
- 37:55another team that likes to hire coaches and fire him just as
- 37:58quick. So I, I mean, what's interesting
- 38:02to me is Mike McDaniel. It's it's still.
- 38:05Out there, apparently the Browns want him badly.
- 38:08And then there's other teams. Now, obviously with the Bills,
- 38:10we'll get to them in a bit. I think the Bills are going to
- 38:12try, but they have a weird rule where they have a delay where
- 38:15they can't interview these coaches.
- 38:16It's strange, but the Browns were the team.
- 38:19That was and Sean McDermott is a quality head coach.
- 38:22I mean, he's done a great job over there in Buffalo.
- 38:25He's the one that developed Josh Allen, I think.
- 38:28I don't think people give him enough credit for the Josh Allen
- 38:30development. He was there from the beginning
- 38:32and he was there and you got to give him credit for that.
- 38:35So Sean McDermott might not get a job this year.
- 38:38Or if somebody wants to reach this year and if Sean wants to
- 38:40get another job, I think Sean should sit out this year, take a
- 38:43break and then take another job. Sean McDermott is going to be a
- 38:47hot commodity next. Year, I just want to point out
- 38:50because a shout out to Nathan, you mentioned in the chat too as
- 38:52well, but you mentioned Mike McDaniel.
- 38:54Mike McDaniel actually just got picked up by the Chargers as
- 38:56their new offensive. Coordinator.
- 38:57Wow. Really.
- 38:58Yes. So he is now with the Chargers
- 39:00on Jim Harbaugh's coaching, and I'm going to tell you why he did
- 39:03that, ladies and gentlemen. And the reason why he did that
- 39:05is because Mike McDaniel knows that playing with Justin Herbert
- 39:09next year and with the offensive lineman they're getting back
- 39:12next year, could you imagine what that offense is going to
- 39:15be? The way they can run the ball
- 39:16when they get their offensive firepower, their running backs
- 39:19back. I, I not only are they going to
- 39:21be dynamic, it's going to give Mike McDaniel another chance to
- 39:24be head coach in this league. He to me, if I, and I'll say
- 39:28this, he's my favorite coach. Oh yeah, he's my favorite.
- 39:32And if there's any coach out there, Mike Tomlin or any of
- 39:35these guys, I'm taking Mike McDaniel.
- 39:36If the New York Jets are listening to me today and they
- 39:39they might be or they might not. If Aaron Glenn ever gets fired
- 39:42and I don't want him to get fired, but if he ever gets
- 39:44fired, if if the fans push out Aaron Glenn, that's the guy I
- 39:47want. I want an offensive minded
- 39:50coach. He's weird.
- 39:52He has a weird way of speaking because he doesn't speak right,
- 39:55but his drawing up plays, his understanding of the speed of
- 39:59the game and the way he finds players in the draft and and
- 40:03really looking for the players that fit his offense.
- 40:06He is the guy that I would bring there.
- 40:08You need an offensive mighty coach.
- 40:10He's the best one. That's the guy.
- 40:12You're not worried about the trend of draft, of not at all by
- 40:16X by heavy coaches Adam Gates. No, no, not at all, Quickly
- 40:19eyes. No, because Adam Gates is not
- 40:22Mike McDaniel. I I think what Mike McDaniel
- 40:24brings to the table is an understanding on how to under
- 40:29the understand the speed of the game and use the players to work
- 40:32in his system. I don't think Adam Gates
- 40:34understand it what understood what kind of system he wanted to
- 40:36run. I think Mike McDaniel is the
- 40:39system trender and that's why I think he's the best hope for a
- 40:42lot of teams. And they got in and go to the
- 40:44Browns because he would have failed there.
- 40:46I think sitting out a year and try not to copy Robert Sala.
- 40:50I mean, we'll get into that a little bit later.
- 40:52But this guy is to me a slam dunk.
- 40:55Whoever hires him next. He had a winning record when he
- 40:58left Miami. Miami fired him with no
- 41:00quarterback. Think about that.
- 41:02He had no quarterback there. He took over for a coach that
- 41:05should have never been fired. Think about that and people
- 41:09questioning them bringing Mike McDaniel in.
- 41:12He to me, he did everything you wanted a coach to he two times
- 41:16in the playoffs with a quarterback, backup quarterback,
- 41:20one year a third string quarterback and almost won that
- 41:23game. I mean, it's an it's an amazing
- 41:25feat when you think about a young guy who has a tremendous
- 41:29ability of understanding that the game and and understanding
- 41:32the new style of game that teams and quarterbacks have to learn
- 41:37how to play. So that's the guy, man, That is
- 41:39the guy. That's the slam dunk baby.
- 41:42Jabba is, you know, in and out tonight, you know, jiggling and
- 41:46wiggling, as we all know. We're waiting for the old
- 41:49peepster, as we all know, ladies, and, and he's coming in.
- 41:53But my golf clap is right around the corner.
- 41:57This deserves a golf clap. No doubt.
- 42:00Golf clap, golf clap, and my golf clap of the day goes to the
- 42:06MLB. Finally, the riders get it
- 42:10right. And ladies and gentlemen, Carlos
- 42:13Beltran and Andrew Jones is now going to the Hall of Fame, and I
- 42:21think very well worth it. I think about it.
- 42:23Andrew Jones, who's one of the greatest defensive center
- 42:25fielders we've ever seen from the Atlanta Braves.
- 42:27I I think he doesn't get enough credit on his defense.
- 42:31And yeah, maybe he did steroids, maybe at a time that he did
- 42:34steroids because he had a couple of seasons where he hit over 40
- 42:37home runs and, and one time fifty home runs.
- 42:40Maybe he did steroids, but it was never been proven.
- 42:42But guess what? There are a lot of guys that are
- 42:44in the Hall of Fame that I believe did steroids.
- 42:46Jeff Bagwell, you're going to tell me he never did steroids.
- 42:49How about Mike Piazzo, we've heard many, many times he had
- 42:51pimples all over his back. I know that doesn't mean
- 42:53steroids, but hey, that's the sign of it.
- 42:56I mean, there are a lot of guys, David Ortiz who was on the list.
- 42:59There are guys that are in the Hall of Fame, Carlos and he did
- 43:01some nasty things as a manager. There's no question that he did.
- 43:04He was a part of that Astro scandal and he was a part of
- 43:07that. That's why he didn't get the
- 43:09match job and that's the facts. And I still think he should get
- 43:12a coaching job or a manager job one way or another.
- 43:14Guy's a great baseball mind. This guy was one of the greatest
- 43:17playoff players we've ever seen. When he was, when he went to the
- 43:20Astros, from jumping from one team to another, when he when he
- 43:23left Kansas City, what he did in Kansas City when he was, then
- 43:26when they went to the playoffs, then what he did with the
- 43:28Astros, then what he did with the Mets.
- 43:30I mean, this guy was an all around beast, great defender,
- 43:34great offensive player, very well deserved.
- 43:37And Andrew Jones did just as much of of he's just as much of
- 43:41A talent as Carlos Beltran. Beltran has for what he did on
- 43:44the football, on the baseball field, when it came to power,
- 43:47when it came to hitting, when it came to defense, everything very
- 43:51well deserved and the writers got it right.
- 43:53They finally got it right. These guys belong in the Hall of
- 43:56Fame. These guys are two of the greats
- 43:58of this era and very well deserved.
- 44:00So my God, clap goes to the writers.
- 44:02Finally, I'm going to give him a golf clap on sending Carlos
- 44:06Beltran and Andrew Jones to the the Baseball Hall of Fame.
- 44:10Cooper's down. Golf clap.
- 44:12Golf clap. I love the personalities that we
- 44:16bring on the show. I I just love how the flow of
- 44:19the show has been working and it's been great.
- 44:21It's been such a success for all the transitions and and all the
- 44:27different stories that we get into.
- 44:28So and we give the best takes. I don't care what anybody says.
- 44:31Our takes are as good as anybody's and we go outside of
- 44:34the box. I'm sure nobody says the things.
- 44:37I mean, did anybody say, did anybody bring up McDermott going
- 44:41to The Jets? Did anybody even think to do
- 44:43that? I mean, Jets, The Jets haven't
- 44:45even thought to do that because they're dumb organization.
- 44:48So I, I just think our takes are fresh, new and interesting.
- 44:53And I think people that haven't listened to the show or has
- 44:57heard of the show should be listening to it.
- 44:59Understand that we are the best. And I will put this show against
- 45:02anybody and I'll, I'll, I'll take that to the grave.
- 45:05And when it when it goes, when it comes to and when it goes to
- 45:08an opportunity and comes to an opportunity in the future, you
- 45:11guys are going to see why I say this and why I believe we are
- 45:14the best. Anyways, thank you to all the

- 45:59youngest guy on the show. Niffin's right there with
- 46:02Speedy. And then we have the old
- 46:04goodster. The old goodster.
- 46:06It was going to be 35 this year, I think so, yeah.
- 46:11I didn't realize Goody was that young, I thought he was actually
- 46:13a little closer to Javas age and he used to mind.
- 46:15No, he's closer to your age. Yeah, Yeah, but the old good
- 46:19stir is getting up there in age too.
- 46:20So we love you too, man. Anyways, that's it for a show.
- 46:23Who do we have on three? All right, one of our favorite
- 46:25baseball guests and Java, he's never been on with you, but I
- 46:28know, I know, I know you 2 have a good connection with each
- 46:31other. It's actually interesting.
- 46:32When we first had you join for the Yankees postgame years ago,
- 46:36I saw you interacting with this guy on Twitter at 9:30.

- 46:52Oh, there we go. Yeah, I'm texting right now.
