- Lucas: Ciao Luna! Welcome back to Learn Italian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! Ready for another Italian lesson. Lucas: Today we're going to talk about something you'll definitely need on a trip: checking out of a hotel. We've done checking in, now it's time to leave. Luna: Oh, that's perfect! I always get a little nervous when it's time to check out. What's the first phrase? Lucas: When you approach the front desk, you'll say: Vorrei fare il check-out. That means 'I'd like to check out.' Let's break it down: Vorrei is 'I would like,' fare is 'to do,' and check-out we use in Italian too. Vorrei fare il check-out. Luna: Vorrei fare il check-out. Lucas: Perfect! Now the receptionist might ask you: Com'è stato il soggiorno? That means 'How was your stay?' Com'è is 'how is,' stato is 'been,' il soggiorno is 'the stay.' Com'è stato il soggiorno? Luna: Com'è stato il soggiorno? That's a nice question. How would I answer? Lucas: You could say È stato fantastico — 'It was fantastic.' Or È stato bello — 'It was nice.' But let's learn one more key phrase: Ho bisogno di pagare il conto. 'I need to pay the bill.' Ho bisogno means 'I need,' di pagare 'to pay,' il conto 'the bill.' Ho bisogno di pagare il conto. Luna: Ho bisogno di pagare il conto. That's important! What if my flight isn't until later and I want to leave my bags? Lucas: Great question! You can ask: Posso lasciare i bagagli? 'Can I leave my luggage?' Posso is 'can I,' lasciare 'to leave,' i bagagli 'the luggage.' Posso lasciare i bagagli? Luna: Posso lasciare i bagagli? That's super useful. And then at the end, I'd say thank you, right? Lucas: Exactly. A nice way to end is Grazie per tutto. 'Thank you for everything.' Grazie per tutto. Luna: Grazie per tutto. Let's practice all of these. Vorrei fare il check-out. Lucas: Perfect. Now the receptionist: Com'è stato il soggiorno? Luna: È stato fantastico! And then: Ho bisogno di pagare il conto. Lucas: And after paying, you might ask: Posso lasciare i bagagli? Luna: Sì, grazie! And then: Grazie per tutto. I love it! Lucas: Let's do a little role-play. I'm the receptionist. You come to check out. Luna: Okay! Buongiorno. Vorrei fare il check-out. Lucas: Buongiorno! Com'è stato il soggiorno? Luna: È stato fantastico, grazie! Ho bisogno di pagare il conto. Lucas: Ecco il conto. You can pay by card or cash. Luna: Perfetto. Posso lasciare i bagagli? Lucas: Certo, nessun problema. Here is a tag for your bags. Luna: Grazie per tutto! Lucas: Prego! That was excellent, Luna. You just checked out of an Italian hotel like a pro. Luna: Thanks! These phrases are so practical. Let's review them one more time. Lucas: Sure.
