- 0:23Speaker 3: Bowler Lord looking to the bowler shown live from a
- 0:26Speaker 3: t l at L.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I go by the name of Ferrari Simmons.
- 0:29Speaker 6: I go to that you know btt what that Jamaic
- 0:33Speaker 6: dupri and the Bill Day.
- 0:37Speaker 1: So listen, man, I grew up. I wanted to be
- 0:40Speaker 1: like you for real.
- 0:41Speaker 3: For I feel like you were the first representation of
- 0:44Speaker 3: an African American person in the entertainment industry.
- 0:47Speaker 1: That I saw.
- 0:49Speaker 3: I said, Oh he gets he lets me feel like
- 0:52Speaker 3: I can do that too, So I did a part
- 0:55Speaker 3: of Ferrari Simmons has a little bit of jd in.
- 0:57Speaker 1: But now now that I got that part of the way.
- 1:00Speaker 7: Hold on, let me piggyback off that I was too.
- 1:03Speaker 7: I think you know you impacted my life too because
- 1:05Speaker 7: you was lit like I came in. I started to
- 1:08Speaker 7: learn about you. Money and a thing with jay Z
- 1:12Speaker 7: I think that was my first introduction to you, and
- 1:13Speaker 7: then you had the bow wow and all that stuff.
- 1:15Speaker 7: But I was just like, man, I just want to
- 1:17Speaker 7: work with him one.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Day, like because you were doing things from the from
- 1:21Speaker 3: the southern perspective that no one else was doing, so
- 1:24Speaker 3: like you were our voice for a very long time.
- 1:27Speaker 7: What do you think about the current state of hip
- 1:28Speaker 7: hop right now?
- 1:29Speaker 1: Do you like it? No? Nothing, I think that you
- 1:33Speaker 1: don't like this conflict. I mean that's no. I mean
- 1:38Speaker 1: I feel like, well, yes, let me say this. I
- 1:40Speaker 1: think that if we didn't have this battle, hip hop
- 1:43Speaker 1: would be in a bad shape. You know what I mean.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I feel like like if I had if I had
- 1:50Speaker 1: to ask you, what's your top five rappers right now
- 1:52Speaker 1: with you, who you're gonna say?
- 1:54Speaker 3: Well, number one would be Ja Cob, But he made
- 1:55Speaker 3: me upset the other day, so he's probably not at
- 1:58Speaker 3: number three.
- 2:00Speaker 1: So see just that in itself, you just just that
- 2:05Speaker 1: just removed somebody that's my just wanted him three. I
- 2:10Speaker 1: just wanted him. I wanted him to be him. Okay,
- 2:12Speaker 1: So so now who moves to one and two? Now
- 2:15Speaker 1: future is number one?
- 2:16Speaker 5: For me?
- 2:16Speaker 3: Then I'm gonna probably put uh who's number two?
- 2:20Speaker 1: T I uh no, now right now, right now today.
- 2:25Speaker 1: That's what she said, the state of hip hop to day.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I'm gonna go, okay, give me five. I have to
- 2:33Speaker 1: give you five right now.
- 2:34Speaker 7: Future is still on top though this future.
- 2:36Speaker 3: So number one is future for me on part of
- 2:38Speaker 3: the Future Hive. This is the Man Fail Man fan
- 2:40Speaker 3: base of Future Future, the camera Future Hive. Anyway, number
- 2:44Speaker 3: two would be too, would be J Cole, Two would
- 2:47Speaker 3: be J Cole, Three would be three would be I
- 2:53Speaker 3: put Drake in three? Okay, I got two more?
- 2:57Speaker 2: What does Kendrick lie into?
- 2:59Speaker 6: Five?
- 3:00Speaker 5: Okay?
- 3:00Speaker 2: So who's four?
- 3:01Speaker 1: Four would be a little baby? Okay, if I did
- 3:08Speaker 1: the same thing, you're gonna pick the same people, it's
- 3:10Speaker 1: gonna be.
- 3:10Speaker 2: No, I'm definitely not gonna pick the same people.
- 3:13Speaker 5: I don't really listen to rap music like that.
- 3:15Speaker 1: If you want to say, then you know that's different.
- 3:24Speaker 2: But I mean, okay, cutting.
- 3:26Speaker 7: Out, Well, they already know Kendrick is my first. He's
- 3:30Speaker 7: my favorite. Right now, I like be a. I can't
- 3:36Speaker 7: think of the radio right now? Who else is on there?
- 3:38Speaker 1: Do y'all see what I was doing? You'll see what
- 3:40Speaker 1: y'all really doing y'all can't think of five rappers. And
- 3:44Speaker 1: this is the state of hip hop right now. You
- 3:46Speaker 1: can't think of five rappers. It's in a bad stakes.
- 3:49Speaker 1: It's in a bad space. And I don't know if
- 3:51Speaker 1: we be talking about rap right now, if they wasn't
- 3:53Speaker 1: missing each other, Wow, we'll be talking about Taylor Swift,
- 4:00Speaker 1: be talking about Son else. I just don't know that.
- 4:01Speaker 1: It's just rap is just in a bad space right now.
- 4:04Speaker 1: It can come back, It's just in a bad space.
- 4:06Speaker 7: What does it take to come back?
- 4:08Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 4:08Speaker 3: I feel like it's so diluted with multiple versions of
- 4:13Speaker 3: the original copy and then you have ten versions of him,
- 4:18Speaker 3: you have another person, ten versions of another person, ten versions.
- 4:21Speaker 5: You see, It's like you got ten versions of Wayne,
- 4:23Speaker 5: ten versions of Future, ten versions of Thug.
- 4:25Speaker 2: It's like it's just so diluted because.
- 4:28Speaker 1: My left Thug my man.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Yeah, y'all, y'all tripping.
- 4:32Speaker 7: You don't even have one.
- 4:37Speaker 2: R B lover man.
- 4:39Speaker 1: I told you you ain't finished, though, Yeah, say the
- 4:45Speaker 1: wrong thing, you know what I'm saying.
- 4:46Speaker 2: What's the wrong?
- 4:48Speaker 7: I think hip hop is fun right now though, too,
- 4:50Speaker 7: Like you know you got sexy reds, you know you
- 4:52Speaker 7: have Who else is having fun.
- 4:55Speaker 1: To camera camera, just to anybody. She asked me a question.
- 5:03Speaker 1: This is the state of right, this is the state
- 5:09Speaker 1: of impot And like I said that, for me, being
- 5:12Speaker 1: a kid that grew up in the era of hip
- 5:14Speaker 1: hop actually blowing up, it feels very very like, it
- 5:20Speaker 1: feels empty. It feels like a big open space, and
- 5:23Speaker 1: not much is feeling that space right now for me.
- 5:26Speaker 7: Well, not a lot of people know that was newer
- 5:29Speaker 7: people gen z and some of the millennials don't know
- 5:33Speaker 7: that you were a rapper. How did you avoid beef
- 5:36Speaker 7: your most of your career.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think I avoided. It's not people
- 5:41Speaker 1: still beefing, people beef with you, still mad that you
- 5:46Speaker 1: still got something to say.
- 5:51Speaker 3: But I think that's more because of you are also
- 5:53Speaker 3: an executive.
- 5:55Speaker 1: And I think, I mean, I think there's people got
- 5:57Speaker 1: something to say, you know. I just think people just
- 5:59Speaker 1: people was gonna always have something to say, you know
- 6:01Speaker 1: what I mean? Like, you know, even like yesterday when
- 6:04Speaker 1: I went to see the vice president, it's like people
- 6:07Speaker 1: talking about, you know, why would you wear an outfit
- 6:12Speaker 1: like that to go see the device? Listen, I went
- 6:18Speaker 1: to see the Vice president so I could have a
- 6:21Speaker 1: conversation with her and a lot of That's another thing
- 6:24Speaker 1: people don't understand, like I'm not a regular nigga like
- 6:27Speaker 1: these people like that talk and I went to have
- 6:31Speaker 1: a conversation with her. I didn't go to take pictures. Actually,
- 6:34Speaker 1: I actually didn't even know that that's what we was
- 6:35Speaker 1: gonna do. I went to basically because she called me
- 6:39Speaker 1: and was like, you know, I want to congratulate you
- 6:41Speaker 1: on freaking it. And a lot of people think that
- 6:43Speaker 1: I went there for a political conversation or whatever. She
- 6:47Speaker 1: was trying to use me for her political campaign. I
- 6:50Speaker 1: wasn't there for that. I was there to speak to
- 6:52Speaker 1: her basically from a real straight up friendship. And I
- 6:58Speaker 1: also went and I had to do to work, so
- 7:00Speaker 1: like save Fancas, we have booked this, and I had
- 7:03Speaker 1: to stop and speak to the president first vice president.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I'm supposed to put a suit on just to go
- 7:10Speaker 1: say hello to her and then come up in here
- 7:12Speaker 1: and talk to y'all, and I'm all suited up, like no,
- 7:16Speaker 1: I was working. I have worked too. I went to
- 7:18Speaker 1: speak to Heave that I moved on. You can't you
- 7:20Speaker 1: know what I mean? I think sometimes like people got this,
- 7:23Speaker 1: They got this crossing the lines. I'm not y'all. I'm
- 7:26Speaker 1: not y'all.
- 7:27Speaker 2: You're not me.
- 7:28Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. You gotta stop thinking that
- 7:30Speaker 1: because I have a day to day job where I
- 7:32Speaker 1: wake up in the morning. I gotta go do what
- 7:34Speaker 1: I gotta do. Unfortunately, the Vice President just was part
- 7:39Speaker 1: of my schedule. That's it.
- 7:43Speaker 3: One of my favorite songs of all time. Not saying
- 7:45Speaker 3: this because because of you. It's Welcome to Atlanta. Yeah,
- 7:48Speaker 3: I believe that's a very important song to the culture.
- 7:54Speaker 3: I feel like after that, I started paying attention to people,
- 7:57Speaker 3: started putting multiple people in songs and had multiple.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Versions of it.
- 8:01Speaker 3: We had the New York version, and then people started
- 8:04Speaker 3: doing their own small versions. What was your thought process
- 8:07Speaker 3: when you said I'm gonna do a song called Welcome
- 8:09Speaker 3: to Atlanta?
- 8:10Speaker 1: Did you do that beat? By the way? Yeah?
- 8:12Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Initially, Welcome to Atlanta's supposed to be me an outcast,
- 8:16Speaker 1: really yeah, and I just didn't. I couldn't really figure
- 8:23Speaker 1: it out the way that the way that I wanted
- 8:27Speaker 1: it to be, because the outcast wasn't really into the
- 8:30Speaker 1: same stuff that I was talking about on my records.
- 8:32Speaker 1: They were something out different things. So I was trying
- 8:34Speaker 1: to figure out how we made a song where we
- 8:37Speaker 1: all talked about pretty much the same thing. So in
- 8:40Speaker 1: the beginning of me making a record, I kept trying
- 8:42Speaker 1: to find things that said something about, you know, Atlanta,
- 8:47Speaker 1: Welcome to Atlanta, blah blah blah. And in the midst
- 8:49Speaker 1: of me doing that Luda Chris video Throw Them Bulls
- 8:52Speaker 1: came on and he's upside down and it's a doormat.
- 8:57Speaker 1: When he's upside down and the doormat said welcome to Atlanta.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I'm like, Oh, that's that's who I need. That's it
- 9:03Speaker 1: right there. So something about that doormat and me watching
- 9:07Speaker 1: that video made me call Chris, and me and Chris
- 9:08Speaker 1: already had this relationship. So then it was like when
- 9:12Speaker 1: I when Chris came to the studio, I told him
- 9:14Speaker 1: exactly the same thing I'm telling y'all, and it just
- 9:18Speaker 1: it just went like wow, Wow.
- 9:20Speaker 7: It's such a creative genius growing up. Who inspired you
- 9:24Speaker 7: as far as production wise?
- 9:26Speaker 1: Teddy Riley, that's that's my idol from you know, as
- 9:30Speaker 1: a kid, and then Herbie love Bug and uh, that's
- 9:36Speaker 1: the dude who produces salt and Pepper for anybody that
- 9:38Speaker 1: don't know. Like, so between Herbie Love Buck and thirty,
- 9:44Speaker 1: between Herbie Love and uh and and Teddy Riley these
- 9:50Speaker 1: I put these two people together and it was just
- 9:52Speaker 1: like I'm gonna try to be like both of them.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Herbie was writing for Salt and Pepper, like he wrote
- 9:57Speaker 1: Pushing and he wrote these songs. He was writing songs
- 10:00Speaker 1: for girls. So that was my mentality. I could write,
- 10:04Speaker 1: I could start writing songs for people. So I write
- 10:05Speaker 1: songs for Eskpe, I write songs. I write songs for
- 10:08Speaker 1: these people. I'm writing songs Chris Krauss just the third
- 10:12Speaker 1: and then I also produced records and I took that
- 10:15Speaker 1: part from Teddy and I just try to like mesh
- 10:17Speaker 1: these two people together and be like that's who I
- 10:19Speaker 1: want to be.
- 10:20Speaker 5: So what's your thought process when you go into like
- 10:22Speaker 5: writing songs for people.
- 10:24Speaker 1: It depends on what the you know, what we actually
- 10:26Speaker 1: talking about, what the goal is like if it's like
- 10:28Speaker 1: a goal to get to turn the artists into something
- 10:31Speaker 1: that they not. If it's like what album that artist
- 10:37Speaker 1: is on. It's a bunch of different things that you
- 10:39Speaker 1: know that triggered my my writing process to make me
- 10:42Speaker 1: like I want to say different things or things. Sometimes
- 10:45Speaker 1: it's like very direct and I go to the studio
- 10:52Speaker 1: specifically like today I have to do this like with Bowows,
- 10:56Speaker 1: like Bowo you need a song with O Mario. I'm
- 10:59Speaker 1: gonna go make this song. This is the puff O
- 11:01Speaker 1: Marion just gonna be your part. You gotta have someone, Mari.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Stay right there?
- 11:06Speaker 3: Did you what was your what was your mental conversations
- 11:10Speaker 3: with him? Because to get someone locked in like that
- 11:15Speaker 3: and to deliver these hit records.
- 11:17Speaker 7: Back to back to back, especially a hyper kid, you
- 11:19Speaker 7: have to Yeah, you have to have kids, bro, Like
- 11:22Speaker 7: it's hard for me to get a little to sit still.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Let alone go in here, record this song, sound believable,
- 11:29Speaker 3: and go in to shoot the video, look believable, have
- 11:33Speaker 3: an image, feel believable, and then go to the and
- 11:36Speaker 3: go to the public, go on a tour like you're prepared.
- 11:39Speaker 3: You prepared him to do all this?
- 11:41Speaker 1: No, no, he came. I was already package. That's the
- 11:45Speaker 1: thing that Chug is beefing about. Like Shug Shug signed
- 11:49Speaker 1: Bowow to death Row when he was five years old.
- 11:52Speaker 1: This is this is you know the facts. It's not
- 11:55Speaker 1: nothing that I'm telling y'all. And bow I was already
- 11:58Speaker 1: like a rapper. He wanted to be a rapper, and
- 12:01Speaker 1: he was already like trying to be like Snoop. He
- 12:05Speaker 1: was trying to be like I think his name was
- 12:06Speaker 1: Kid Gangster when he was like five, and he came
- 12:12Speaker 1: developed like that. He already had that mentality here. You
- 12:15Speaker 1: gotta have that mentality. You can I can't teach that.
- 12:17Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, y'all. That's why we did
- 12:19Speaker 1: a rap game. You could see on there what kids
- 12:21Speaker 1: have to go through to even get to that space.
- 12:24Speaker 1: And I was when I was doing a rap game,
- 12:25Speaker 1: I'd be there sitting there and be like five kids
- 12:27Speaker 1: in front of me, and I'm like, man, y'all, really,
- 12:29Speaker 1: don't you know? I know somebody that was like way
- 12:34Speaker 1: better than all of y'all at twelve eleven years old.
- 12:37Speaker 1: And that's what Boo I was. He was. Boo was
- 12:40Speaker 1: just like mentally, you could sit there and tell Baoo
- 12:43Speaker 1: exactly what we was gonna do, and he either liked
- 12:47Speaker 1: it or he didn't like it or whatever, but if
- 12:50Speaker 1: he loved it. That's the key to kid writing for
- 12:55Speaker 1: kids is that you have to figure out what kids
- 12:58Speaker 1: like and once the kids like it, and if for them,
- 13:02Speaker 1: they gonna do it in a way that you ain't
- 13:04Speaker 1: You'll never believe.
- 13:06Speaker 5: Now legally was should able to legally sign bow Wow
- 13:09Speaker 5: at five years old?
- 13:10Speaker 1: No, Okay, that's why it's never been a situation where
- 13:14Speaker 1: should pursue me or whatever Shug has ever said. It's
- 13:18Speaker 1: never been nothing that could ever happened, because, first of all,
- 13:21Speaker 1: another thing that people don't that that's part of that
- 13:24Speaker 1: story that should don't talk about, is that Bowo got
- 13:26Speaker 1: signed to Sony before I actually signed him, and then
- 13:31Speaker 1: when he got signed to Sony, they didn't know what
- 13:32Speaker 1: to do with bow Wow. They had a kid artists
- 13:35Speaker 1: up there. They didn't know what to do with him,
- 13:37Speaker 1: and they and I was signed to Sony at the
- 13:39Speaker 1: same time. So social depth is here, and we got
- 13:41Speaker 1: this kid artist over here, we should we should have
- 13:44Speaker 1: a collaboration, or you should take bow and put him
- 13:46Speaker 1: over here. It ain't gonna be much because y'all, we
- 13:48Speaker 1: already got the paperwork. So it was already like a
- 13:50Speaker 1: situation where Booo was in the building and I had
- 13:55Speaker 1: the movement, and I had the motion, and it was
- 13:58Speaker 1: just like, yo, you know how to do this? We
- 14:00Speaker 1: should put him over there. So we had that conversation
- 14:03Speaker 1: and we made that deal. And so technically the people
- 14:07Speaker 1: that should should be mad at it's people that sony. Okay,
- 14:13Speaker 1: So you co created the Rap Game? Yeah, Now how
- 14:17Speaker 1: did that come about?
- 14:17Speaker 3: Because you created that the television that would come to you,
- 14:20Speaker 3: did you pitch it?
- 14:22Speaker 1: Now, I wasn't even the television that It was more
- 14:24Speaker 1: like a like I said, it was a show that
- 14:25Speaker 1: was created. Like you know, you got you gotta go
- 14:30Speaker 1: through like an agency once you sell the show. So
- 14:32Speaker 1: the agency sold the show to Lifetime, but prior to that,
- 14:36Speaker 1: it was like a production company that created the show
- 14:39Speaker 1: and they came to me. And once they came to me,
- 14:42Speaker 1: I basically did the same thing I do with music.
- 14:44Speaker 1: I produced the show to make the show exactly what
- 14:47Speaker 1: it is. That's why you was on it. I started
- 14:49Speaker 1: putting people that I know, you know, we're gonna do
- 14:52Speaker 1: the show in Atlanta, Donna pick these people and pick
- 14:55Speaker 1: this person. I start making it my show.
- 14:57Speaker 5: Now, how do you feel about the success of like
- 14:59Speaker 5: you know, but like Flage and Lotto that was a
- 15:02Speaker 5: part of the Rap Game.
- 15:03Speaker 1: I mean, I think it's amazing. It's amazing I mean,
- 15:05Speaker 1: that's that's what it was all about anyway, for them
- 15:07Speaker 1: artists to like come from that show and then turn
- 15:10Speaker 1: into what they are today, or or at least turned
- 15:13Speaker 1: into something. I'm sad that it ain't, but just it's
- 15:15Speaker 1: three of them, basically more or less that really have
- 15:18Speaker 1: turned into something. Now. A lot of people thought you
- 15:21Speaker 1: were going to sign them to Soco Death. I did,
- 15:25Speaker 1: so everybody got signed, or for the most part, I did.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I mean I just didn't really. You know. The thing
- 15:30Speaker 1: about it is this when I when I started getting
- 15:33Speaker 1: into when I did the rap game. I don't know
- 15:36Speaker 1: why people don't listen to me. Honestly, I don't know why,
- 15:40Speaker 1: but it is, it is what it is. People don't
- 15:41Speaker 1: listen to me. For the most part. I did like
- 15:45Speaker 1: an ep and I did this ep at at at
- 15:48Speaker 1: at at epic and I did I went and talked
- 15:51Speaker 1: to La and all of this, and it was just
- 15:53Speaker 1: a thing where they didn't understand it. I'm like, guys,
- 15:55Speaker 1: I got a TV I got a number one TV
- 15:56Speaker 1: show in the country. Like it wasn't even like no
- 16:00Speaker 1: making it up. The show was number one. It was
- 16:02Speaker 1: a you know, family show, people's watching. People was locked
- 16:04Speaker 1: in and nobody was like the record business wasn't paying
- 16:08Speaker 1: or attention. They didn't understand it right, And and I
- 16:13Speaker 1: get frustrated fast by that, Like if you don't, if
- 16:15Speaker 1: you don't pay attention to what I'm saying, and I
- 16:19Speaker 1: see it working, i'ma move I'm gonna go ahead and
- 16:21Speaker 1: move on. Cool.
- 16:22Speaker 3: I'm glad you said that because it's very important that
- 16:24Speaker 3: you said that, because a lot of people was like,
- 16:26Speaker 3: oh man, JD ain't doing nothing with the with the
- 16:28Speaker 3: kids after he signs them.
- 16:29Speaker 1: No, I did. I took him on tour, We did
- 16:31Speaker 1: a tour, brought to the radio station. I remember that,
- 16:34Speaker 1: we did a tour. We did everything. I did everything
- 16:37Speaker 1: that was supposed to be done. What didn't happen was
- 16:40Speaker 1: to support you know what I mean, Like, you know,
- 16:43Speaker 1: everything that I do don't get supported. People don't just
- 16:45Speaker 1: support everything JD do. So I have it's a challenge.
- 16:50Speaker 1: But I did everything that I was supposed to do,
- 16:52Speaker 1: and after that epic deal, they actually let me take
- 16:57Speaker 1: all the artists and walk away. So I took all
- 16:59Speaker 1: the artists and I went and did a deal at
- 17:01Speaker 1: Capital to basically try to do as my partner. And
- 17:05Speaker 1: that same thing didn't work, you know what I mean?
- 17:07Speaker 1: It didn't work out because nobody wasn't really putting no
- 17:09Speaker 1: energy behind I'm like, yo, guys, this is a TV show.
- 17:12Speaker 1: It's a whole TV show on a network. Yeah, I'm like,
- 17:16Speaker 1: this is on a network, and y'all don't want to
- 17:17Speaker 1: put no you know, y'all want to make this like
- 17:20Speaker 1: just like it's just like we're doing this almost. It
- 17:23Speaker 1: was like almost giving me like a crutch deal, like
- 17:25Speaker 1: JD will do this because it's you, but we don't
- 17:28Speaker 1: really believe in these artists. And I'm like, wow, okay, cool.
- 17:34Speaker 1: So what that did was after so long of me
- 17:39Speaker 1: happening to go through this, I'm in a frustration space.
- 17:42Speaker 1: I'm just like, you know what. And I also don't
- 17:45Speaker 1: believe I know everything, right, I don't believe I know everything,
- 17:47Speaker 1: So maybe I'm wrong. So if Epic didn't go with it,
- 17:51Speaker 1: and then Capitol didn't go with it, I'm like, man,
- 17:53Speaker 1: maybe I'm tripping. Maybe I just got a good TV
- 17:56Speaker 1: show on these artists trash right for real. That's what
- 18:00Speaker 1: I'm saying that because you have to evaluate it, you
- 18:03Speaker 1: got to evaluate it at some point, right, And so
- 18:06Speaker 1: I start thinking like, man, all right, maybe the artists
- 18:09Speaker 1: ain't it. Maybe the TV show element is what it is,
- 18:13Speaker 1: and I should probably stop trying to push this music
- 18:16Speaker 1: on people. And because I did the tour, and the
- 18:21Speaker 1: tour actually wasn't the greatest success. It was some cities
- 18:25Speaker 1: that were sold out in other cities that didn't sell, right,
- 18:29Speaker 1: And that's where the friction became between Lotto and my dad,
- 18:36Speaker 1: and I guess Lotto dad and then Lotto saying crazy
- 18:40Speaker 1: shit about me whatever whatever.
- 18:43Speaker 7: For those who don't know, JD's dad is in the
- 18:45Speaker 7: music industry, Michael malten So.
- 18:47Speaker 1: I think that's where the friction came because it was
- 18:49Speaker 1: like people, you know, the artists didn't understand I was
- 18:51Speaker 1: trying to really like blow them up. I would have
- 18:53Speaker 1: buses for them. I'm like, y'all gonna go on tour.
- 18:56Speaker 1: None of them had records out. I put these kids
- 18:58Speaker 1: on tour with no records on the radio likes on tour.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Y'all got to tour, make a bunch of money, and
- 19:07Speaker 1: they expected to make a bunch of money nights that
- 19:10Speaker 1: the show didn't sell, they expected me to pay them.
- 19:13Speaker 1: And I'm like, you know, I'm his work. I'm in
- 19:16Speaker 1: this with y'all. If y'all don't made no money, no money,
- 19:20Speaker 1: I ain't made no money, So how you you expect
- 19:23Speaker 1: me to pay you just from my money? Because y'all
- 19:26Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So it got to be
- 19:28Speaker 1: a misunderstanding on that part. And that's what I said.
- 19:31Speaker 1: It was like, oh JD is this time of board
- 19:33Speaker 1: like this is not You're putting more energy into this
- 19:36Speaker 1: than anybody. Now, how's the relationship now? With a lot
- 19:40Speaker 1: of them? We don't really have no relationship. I mean,
- 19:43Speaker 1: you know, like I said, I don't. I don't get
- 19:45Speaker 1: in her way. Do what you gotta do. I ain't
- 19:47Speaker 1: got nothing to do with it. I just, you know,
- 19:48Speaker 1: like I said, this was just a time. It was
- 19:51Speaker 1: a lot of misunderstanding. They was kids, They ain't understand
- 19:54Speaker 1: what was going on.
- 19:55Speaker 2: So you think she's still mad at you about it.
- 19:56Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't care though. It's not even
- 19:58Speaker 1: about me. That's not I start what my mind is.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I don't I don't think about it. I just know
- 20:03Speaker 1: that I know that people probably think that, oh, you
- 20:06Speaker 1: ain't do nothing with her, because I mean I had
- 20:08Speaker 1: people say, how you just let lot o go do
- 20:10Speaker 1: doo do and I'm like, you think I just let
- 20:12Speaker 1: her go do whatever? You know what I mean? Or
- 20:15Speaker 1: it was some it was some cap that was going
- 20:18Speaker 1: around that was saying that I offer her a deal
- 20:22Speaker 1: and she didn't take it.
- 20:24Speaker 5: Yeah, they said you offer her like ten thousand dollars
- 20:26Speaker 5: or yeah, like so that's cap.
- 20:28Speaker 1: If I offer somebody a deal that don't have a deal,
- 20:32Speaker 1: you don't even have no interest. Let's say this.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Oh, I'll see what you're saying.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Like I just told y'all that two labels basically was like,
- 20:41Speaker 1: it's no leverage. They already had her right because she
- 20:44Speaker 1: was signed to me, so Epic already had her. It
- 20:46Speaker 1: wasn't nothing you could possibly do when you signed the
- 20:49Speaker 1: deal with the TV show. Inside that contract, the artists
- 20:54Speaker 1: go sign that j man without me, even without you
- 20:57Speaker 1: even winning, you know what I'm saying. I'm saying, without
- 20:59Speaker 1: even winning, the contract said that I have you as
- 21:02Speaker 1: an artist signed to Social death Right. So one I
- 21:07Speaker 1: didn't even have to make a deal, That's what I'm saying. Oh,
- 21:09Speaker 1: so it was it was never even offer, like you
- 21:11Speaker 1: signed to me regardless I don't. I don't have to
- 21:13Speaker 1: make no deal like you're already signed you know what
- 21:16Speaker 1: I'm saying. So to make a story like I offered
- 21:21Speaker 1: you a deal, It's like, I just think the what
- 21:24Speaker 1: offer did I give you? I didn't offer you not
- 21:26Speaker 1: you already signed, You already signed, sign, you already signed.
- 21:30Speaker 1: You know.
- 21:30Speaker 3: I just think the TV show really kind of overly
- 21:33Speaker 3: exaggerated the she won.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Yes, it's time one day in the world.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Oh yeah, once you won on the show, you did
- 21:42Speaker 1: win my my attention. It's more than money, you know
- 21:47Speaker 1: what I mean, Like me calling you and saying let's
- 21:50Speaker 1: go to the studio, on me working and me talking
- 21:52Speaker 1: this best way what you were saying about with bow. Wow.
- 21:54Speaker 1: If I sit here and I start constructing your life
- 21:57Speaker 1: and start telling you what to do, that's worth more
- 21:59Speaker 1: than any You can't pay me for what I would
- 22:02Speaker 1: do for an artist. You know what I'm saying. If
- 22:04Speaker 1: I had to get money from these artists, they all
- 22:06Speaker 1: to be broke because I'm giving them everything, giving them
- 22:11Speaker 1: so much in and you're molding.
- 22:13Speaker 2: You're molding their career.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Just like what's that.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Not?
- 22:18Speaker 1: I was gonna say, star search them? Oh American American.
- 22:21Speaker 1: I ain't watched American Idol and Solo either, but I'm saying,
- 22:29Speaker 1: American Idol signon. All the artists signed assignment. That's why
- 22:33Speaker 1: when artists don't. I didn't know that. When when the artists,
- 22:36Speaker 1: when the artists lose, they still come out. They still
- 22:39Speaker 1: come out, you know what I'm saying. Because he's they
- 22:41Speaker 1: all sign them. So if he likes somebody that didn't
- 22:43Speaker 1: do good on the show, he still put him out.
- 22:46Speaker 1: They all signed to him immediately.
- 22:48Speaker 7: JD right here on The Butler Alert Show will be
- 22:50Speaker 7: right back.
- 22:51Speaker 4: We will be right back with more of the Baller
- 22:53Speaker 4: Alert Show. You're listening to a special edition of The
- 22:58Speaker 4: Baller Alert Show.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Pre check me out on the ball Alert Show. Right
- 23:02Speaker 1: here on Revote No Diddy that what more.
- 23:05Speaker 7: The Butler Alert Show. We got the one and only
- 23:07Speaker 7: JD in the building the building. Well, we got Usher
- 23:10Speaker 7: coming up next. Talking about twenty years of Confessions. You
- 23:13Speaker 7: were the producer of it. What's your top five songs
- 23:15Speaker 7: from Confessions?
- 23:17Speaker 1: Caught Up, Bad Girl, Confessions, My Boo, and I guess
- 23:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna say burn. It's hard. It's hard to say
- 23:30Speaker 1: five because I left, Yeah, but them songs, you know,
- 23:34Speaker 1: and my Boo wasn't actually on the first release of Confessions,
- 23:38Speaker 1: so that technically don't Actually she shouldn't go in the
- 23:41Speaker 1: top five. I actually should put yeah in there. Probably.
- 23:43Speaker 7: Okay, How was it when you first met usher Man?
- 23:46Speaker 1: It was interesting because he was like I think Usher
- 23:49Speaker 1: was probably sixteen seventeen years where'd you meet him at? Well,
- 23:53Speaker 1: I met Usher before he got signed at Crisscross concert.
- 23:56Speaker 1: So he came to Chris Cross concert trying to get
- 23:58Speaker 1: me to sign him, and I wouldn't do it because
- 24:01Speaker 1: I was frustrated with Crisscross parents at the time, and
- 24:04Speaker 1: I was just like, I don't want no more damn
- 24:05Speaker 1: kids in my life. I am not dealing with this
- 24:09Speaker 1: no more. I'm tired of these you know what I mean.
- 24:10Speaker 1: I was going through that then, and I was just like,
- 24:12Speaker 1: I ain't doing out. My next artist will be an adult.
- 24:15Speaker 1: That's what I was saying to myself, Like I'm not
- 24:17Speaker 1: doing the whole kid artist. So when I met Usher,
- 24:21Speaker 1: he was good, and I was just like, yeah, you
- 24:23Speaker 1: ain't good enough to make me have to deal with
- 24:25Speaker 1: these your parents And I ain't meet his mom, but
- 24:29Speaker 1: you know, I knew that it was a mom there somewhere,
- 24:32Speaker 1: and I was just like, nah, I'm not doing it.
- 24:33Speaker 1: So I passed just for that reason, and then he
- 24:37Speaker 1: signed in the face. So after that we already knew
- 24:40Speaker 1: each other from that point. And then they asked me
- 24:42Speaker 1: to do a remix. I did a remix for him,
- 24:44Speaker 1: and he came to my house and he resung the
- 24:47Speaker 1: lyrics for the remix and the way I had him
- 24:51Speaker 1: do it and the way we work that. He was
- 24:53Speaker 1: just like, I like to work. I like working with you.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Can we do my next album?
- 24:57Speaker 6: Wow?
- 24:59Speaker 1: That was my way?
- 25:00Speaker 6: Wow?
- 25:00Speaker 7: Oh yeah, okay? And so when when? When was the
- 25:05Speaker 7: time to do Confessions? What was that conversation?
- 25:07Speaker 3: Like?
- 25:08Speaker 1: That was a tough conversation because because it was like
- 25:11Speaker 1: me and Usher went to La red house one night
- 25:14Speaker 1: and we was just talking about his album, like his
- 25:17Speaker 1: next album, and La was like, man, you know, Rusher,
- 25:22Speaker 1: you're not interested. You know, you put out an album
- 25:27Speaker 1: and people care about you when your album come out,
- 25:29Speaker 1: but then you disappear and nothing's nothing's ever really interesting
- 25:33Speaker 1: about Usher. Don't nobody really talk about Usher once he's gone.
- 25:37Speaker 1: And this, actually, that conversation hit me really hard because
- 25:41Speaker 1: it was like, there, you're telling this man right now,
- 25:43Speaker 1: he's not interesting, and a lot of people don't be
- 25:46Speaker 1: hearing these type of stories of like what happens behind
- 25:49Speaker 1: these doors when you're making these records in LA was
- 25:51Speaker 1: just you know, he kept it real, like you know,
- 25:54Speaker 1: we got to make you more interesting, something about you,
- 25:57Speaker 1: like you gotta do something. And at that time it
- 25:59Speaker 1: was like l suld, maybe you should date this personal.
- 26:02Speaker 1: It was all kind of suggestions that was going on,
- 26:04Speaker 1: so me getting into writing something that made it feel
- 26:10Speaker 1: more personal and making you really like listen to the
- 26:15Speaker 1: lyrics and be like whoa what is he talking about that?
- 26:19Speaker 1: Go back to the beginning of our conversation, like this
- 26:21Speaker 1: became s like the plan. It wasn't just like going
- 26:24Speaker 1: into the studio and writing whatever this is, like okay,
- 26:28Speaker 1: this man said this. I gotta make sure that whatever
- 26:31Speaker 1: I'm writing for you it plays into what he's saying.
- 26:35Speaker 1: And that was the goal. We just went out there
- 26:38Speaker 1: to start trying to write. And like I said, when
- 26:41Speaker 1: I wrote All Bad, the first verse of All Bad
- 26:45Speaker 1: is really the sec is really the first verse of
- 26:50Speaker 1: Confessions Too, cause they put it together like that and
- 26:54Speaker 1: it wasn't really like that. It was like that verse
- 26:57Speaker 1: that's in Confessions Too was really in All Bad. And
- 27:02Speaker 1: they in the video they made that part because it
- 27:05Speaker 1: made more sense to go from and this was la
- 27:08Speaker 1: that I ain't have nothing to do with this. He
- 27:10Speaker 1: just chopped these songs up when he put the first
- 27:12Speaker 1: verse from this song to this song because too so,
- 27:17Speaker 1: I mean, you know what, I didn't know what he
- 27:19Speaker 1: was doing, but it was you know, it was it
- 27:21Speaker 1: was genius what he did. He just like felt like
- 27:24Speaker 1: this this song and this verse should go with this,
- 27:28Speaker 1: this version of the song, second version of the song,
- 27:31Speaker 1: about to cut you off the second version of the song.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Once we got past Chick on the Side and the
- 27:37Speaker 1: crib in the ride up and tell you so many lines,
- 27:39Speaker 1: ain't nothing good, It's all bad. Once we got past
- 27:41Speaker 1: that part, Usher was like, man, we gotta make part two.
- 27:44Speaker 1: And I'm like part two. He's like, yeah, what happens?
- 27:48Speaker 1: What what? What happened? What else happened? And that's when
- 27:52Speaker 1: I was like, oh, okay, well I can tell you
- 27:55Speaker 1: what happens. Personally, I could tell you I know exactly
- 28:02Speaker 1: what happens. And then that's when it's just like, you know,
- 28:06Speaker 1: Chick on the side, Creeping Rob, I know what happens
- 28:09Speaker 1: with all of That's my life after that, so you
- 28:12Speaker 1: know that's when every time I was in there, No, no, no, no,
- 28:15Speaker 1: that's that's not that's what I'm saying. That's that's the
- 28:17Speaker 1: other part of that's what I'm saying. That's the that's
- 28:19Speaker 1: all bad. That part of the song is more or
- 28:22Speaker 1: less like what Usher's life was, gotcha?
- 28:25Speaker 7: The second part with.
- 28:26Speaker 1: These are my confessions that just when I thought I
- 28:29Speaker 1: said all I could say, the chick on the side
- 28:31Speaker 1: said she got one on the way. That's jd Like,
- 28:34Speaker 1: oh man, I'm saying, and I don't know what to do.
- 28:38Speaker 1: I think I gotta get up part to it that
- 28:41Speaker 1: if I got to tell it, I'm gonna tell it.
- 28:43Speaker 1: All these are like that's my life, Like, this is
- 28:47Speaker 1: what happens to the chick on the side. Did you
- 28:50Speaker 1: actually tell it all? Yeah? I mean without naming names, Davis,
- 28:58Speaker 1: how was that for you? It was? I mean it
- 29:02Speaker 1: was it was like fun at first.
- 29:04Speaker 3: Wait wait wait the confession part confessing that you had
- 29:06Speaker 3: to chick on the side with a baby on the way.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Oh me, And actually it was tough. I mean like
- 29:13Speaker 1: like actually what I did was I actually had Usher
- 29:16Speaker 1: mimic my entire life. So when he says in the
- 29:18Speaker 1: end of the song, when he's talking to that when
- 29:21Speaker 1: he's talking at the end of the song. This is
- 29:23Speaker 1: what I actually told him. I had to do. Like
- 29:26Speaker 1: one of the hardest things in life is to do
- 29:28Speaker 1: is for me to call somebody and tell the person
- 29:30Speaker 1: that I love that I'm having a baby by somebody
- 29:34Speaker 1: I just met. These are actually my real lines that
- 29:38Speaker 1: I had to tell the people that was in my life.
- 29:42Speaker 1: And I was telling him this and he just actually
- 29:45Speaker 1: said it just was just I'm gonna say just what
- 29:47Speaker 1: you just said, you know.
- 29:48Speaker 3: And I do like how you turned something that happened
- 29:51Speaker 3: to you into uh a musical piece.
- 29:54Speaker 1: I mean all of them. For the most part, I
- 29:56Speaker 1: just never you know, like you know, I don't sing,
- 29:59Speaker 1: so people don't know that I'm singing these songs. But
- 30:03Speaker 1: you make me want it was my life too, you
- 30:05Speaker 1: know what I mean.
- 30:07Speaker 3: So you think, yeah, made me want to then turn
- 30:09Speaker 3: the guy their confessions, Yeah, you make me leading to
- 30:13Speaker 3: win relationship with it was like you know.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Before yeah, yeah, nice and slow, but nice and slow
- 30:23Speaker 1: was more or less like fantasy. You know, want no
- 30:26Speaker 1: real like real life story, but you make me want
- 30:29Speaker 1: to In Confessions Let It Burn is a lot of
- 30:33Speaker 1: real life stuff. Too that we just both you know,
- 30:37Speaker 1: usher they said, I want a song about you know,
- 30:40Speaker 1: the burning. Actually let it Burn was actually about Chili.
- 30:44Speaker 1: That is the one song that was about that relationship.
- 30:47Speaker 1: He was he was he was ready to let it
- 30:48Speaker 1: just burn out, like if it's gonna go, That's what
- 30:51Speaker 1: I'm saying.
- 30:52Speaker 3: I felt like the when that song came out, it
- 30:54Speaker 3: was like a timing thing because the.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Probably I think they and they I think they did
- 30:59Speaker 1: something with the video that was kind of like remotely
- 31:03Speaker 1: close to what you got a bad video was. So
- 31:05Speaker 1: it made y'all actually mentally start feeling like this. But yeah,
- 31:10Speaker 1: we't never talk about burn being about Chili, but it
- 31:14Speaker 1: was about his relationship and him feeling like it was
- 31:17Speaker 1: a burning thing that was inside.
- 31:21Speaker 7: Him, a feeling of like when people.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Say that like I got that burning feeling like, well,
- 31:28Speaker 1: I mean sometimes that burning feeling is happiness. You know,
- 31:31Speaker 1: it just depends on what how you you know, how
- 31:34Speaker 1: you frame it up. But he was just saying, it
- 31:37Speaker 1: felt like it felt like it's over. I feel like
- 31:41Speaker 1: I'm fighting something, you know what I mean, this party
- 31:44Speaker 1: that I'm mad it ain't jumping no more. That's when
- 31:46Speaker 1: I start thinking about stuff like that, and I starting
- 31:48Speaker 1: I hear what he's saying, and I'm just like, Okay,
- 31:51Speaker 1: let me say this and let me say this.
- 31:52Speaker 7: While so he's telling you this and you're just writing
- 31:54Speaker 7: it in lyrics in my in.
- 31:56Speaker 1: My head, I'm hearing what he's saying. I'm just thinking that,
- 31:58Speaker 1: like you weren't really a masterful.
- 32:00Speaker 7: You're a genius.
- 32:01Speaker 3: Many people can correlate that and then put it and
- 32:06Speaker 3: then it comes out.
- 32:07Speaker 7: Yeah, man, well we got usher up next.
- 32:09Speaker 1: JD.
- 32:09Speaker 7: We appreciate you so much.
- 32:14Speaker 1: It's like with incense and stuff like that. And try
- 32:21Speaker 1: to make it a little bobby as.

- 33:42Speaker 7: your own skates, Yes, got them choads going.
- 33:45Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 33:46Speaker 6: Listen, I took this thing to Las Vegas, and I
- 33:48Speaker 6: told you I brought Atlanta to Vegas, and then I
- 33:51Speaker 6: brought the world to the eight. That was the next
- 33:53Speaker 6: thing to do. But more than anything, thank you for
- 33:54Speaker 6: all that.
- 33:55Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 33:56Speaker 6: I really appreciate all those introductions. But I need you
- 33:58Speaker 6: to recognize that I am the party. Ladies and gentlemen,
- 34:00Speaker 6: you meat none other than your baby here officially on
- 34:04Speaker 6: the ball of Alert. This is your boy. You are
- 34:06Speaker 6: Rsha the.
- 34:07Speaker 7: Party sexiest man at the moment.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Come on, now, y you got the episode, Oh you
- 34:12Speaker 2: got it, you got the issue? Okay, you got it?
- 34:14Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 34:14Speaker 5: Yeah, you'll see all these grandma's on TikTok doing these comments.
- 34:19Speaker 6: She and grandma. She and no, grandma, Grandma, do she
- 34:21Speaker 6: just give me my bush? You just try to make
- 34:23Speaker 6: a grandma. Okay, I'm talking about the TikTok. You see
- 34:26Speaker 6: you didn't seen you know, you don't see the TikTok?
- 34:29Speaker 6: What was Grandmas was rating this all cover? Oh my gosh,
- 34:33Speaker 6: she just said that I was the sexiest man alive.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Not Grandma. You know what I'm saying.
- 34:41Speaker 7: You know what I'm saying, He don't.
- 34:42Speaker 1: He's showing the light shade over there. Started off that man.
- 34:47Speaker 7: You know, twenty years ago, you know what I'm saying,
- 34:50Speaker 7: you dropped the iconic Confessions album.
- 34:53Speaker 6: Yeah, celebrating twenty years of it, you know, really happy man.
- 34:56Speaker 6: And to be able to say that there was a classic,
- 34:59Speaker 6: you know, you know, piece of work. The one thing
- 35:01Speaker 6: I hate more than anythings that we didn't have cameras
- 35:03Speaker 6: like we do now. Back then, we didn't have cell phones.
- 35:06Speaker 6: We have pages and backberiys know, so we didn't really
- 35:10Speaker 6: get a chance to like shoot it and show it
- 35:12Speaker 6: and share it. So to be able to at least
- 35:14Speaker 6: hear it and celebrate it, you know, as the iconic
- 35:18Speaker 6: album that it is, and now twenty years later, to
- 35:20Speaker 6: be able to celebrate it at my festival in Las
- 35:23Speaker 6: Vegas lovers and friends on May fourth. Really excited about that.
- 35:27Speaker 6: I'm going to dedicate the entire night to Confessions the album.
- 35:31Speaker 6: Oh my gosh, that may be a little pick peek
- 35:34Speaker 6: into the future, but for the most part, the night
- 35:36Speaker 6: is really dedicated and curated to celebrate the twentieth anniversary
- 35:41Speaker 6: of Confessions.
- 35:42Speaker 2: So I got a question, what's your favorite song to perform?
- 35:45Speaker 6: Fagas song to perform? You know, it's different in every concert.
- 35:52Speaker 6: Right when I'm in Las Vegas, it's a different curated show.
- 35:55Speaker 6: So songs like Climax I love, songs like you Don't
- 36:00Speaker 6: Have to Call has a real, you know, specific experience overall,
- 36:04Speaker 6: If I have to think about what I love about
- 36:06Speaker 6: my show is when people sing along with me. That
- 36:09Speaker 6: right there, lets it be known that this this record
- 36:11Speaker 6: had the type of potency that it should have. It's
- 36:14Speaker 6: normally around the moment when it's not about the lights
- 36:18Speaker 6: and the choreography. But when I go out to my audience,
- 36:21Speaker 6: I reach out to my audience and I asked my
- 36:22Speaker 6: DJ or either I just choose to go off the
- 36:25Speaker 6: cuff and ask them to follow me in these songs
- 36:27Speaker 6: that I just wanted to play in the moment that
- 36:30Speaker 6: that is my favorite part of the show.
- 36:31Speaker 7: And you get like over a hundred shows in Vegas. Man,
- 36:35Speaker 7: how did you What was your routine? Like health wise?
- 36:38Speaker 6: I mean, if you haven't show problems off for bad
- 36:39Speaker 6: for you, son, I got ninety nine problems. But to
- 36:41Speaker 6: show anyone, I'm gonna tell you this, man, it actually
- 36:45Speaker 6: is a lot.
- 36:47Speaker 2: What's the workouse?
- 36:48Speaker 3: Yeah, discipline like because as a forty five year old man,
- 36:51Speaker 3: sorry to say that like that, I just hit the forty.
- 36:53Speaker 3: I do not have the usher, man, I need the regiment,
- 36:58Speaker 3: my brother, you know what I'm saying.
- 37:01Speaker 1: I mean, you leave your gang in the build. I'm
- 37:02Speaker 1: not a liber but by the way.
- 37:03Speaker 6: You were about twenty years ago and going to be
- 37:06Speaker 6: able to, you know, kind of build it up. And
- 37:09Speaker 6: the performance is what pulls me through the fact that
- 37:12Speaker 6: I'm doing this for people who came to see and
- 37:15Speaker 6: be entertained, and I get an audience that is ready
- 37:19Speaker 6: to sing with me, ready to laugh and dance and
- 37:21Speaker 6: have a good time and enjoy their friends and family,
- 37:23Speaker 6: and I can look down there and see that they
- 37:25Speaker 6: connected someone reliving the moments. I see tears in people's eyes.
- 37:28Speaker 6: I'm like, oh, this was real personal to her. Oh Man,
- 37:31Speaker 6: Like I'm I'm literally in the middle of the show
- 37:33Speaker 6: having a show with my head because I'm reading faces.
- 37:35Speaker 2: And I'm you do read faces.
- 37:37Speaker 3: When you're performing, because some people don't look directly at
- 37:40Speaker 3: people because they say may bother them a little bit
- 37:42Speaker 3: to make direct eye contact.
- 37:44Speaker 1: You're making direct eye contact.
- 37:46Speaker 6: Absolutely so much so that if I ever see or
- 37:49Speaker 6: feel that somebody might be missing the moment, I really
- 37:52Speaker 6: focus in on that person and giving them that energy.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Okay, got you, Yeah, I got you. You know what
- 37:57Speaker 2: I'm saying.
- 37:58Speaker 6: But yeah, it's just a It's about that. If you
- 38:01Speaker 6: know people spend their hard earned money to come out
- 38:03Speaker 6: and see you, then you got to deliver them a show.
- 38:05Speaker 6: It's always been about making certain that I leave a customer.
- 38:09Speaker 6: You know, a person who chooses to invest their time
- 38:11Speaker 6: and their money and being there. You know there is
- 38:14Speaker 6: a there's a relationship right there, and you trusted me
- 38:16Speaker 6: this long, so I'm gonna make sure that I give
- 38:19Speaker 6: you a show to remember.
- 38:20Speaker 7: After curating the longest most watched super Bowl, you know,
- 38:25Speaker 7: with any any super Bowl halftime show for the past
- 38:28Speaker 7: and present future tour, what can people expect to expect?
- 38:32Speaker 7: Something like how you performed on the Super Bowl, like
- 38:35Speaker 7: with all the songs in one like that, you know,
- 38:37Speaker 7: and some of the Coming Home album in there, or
- 38:40Speaker 7: what's that gonna be about?
- 38:43Speaker 2: It's gonna be longer than fifteen minutes? Second? Well, yeah,
- 38:46Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, but y'all at.
- 38:50Speaker 6: Me if I brought you all the way down, I.
- 38:53Speaker 7: Mean, like all the songs, how you had all jammed
- 38:55Speaker 7: together like that?
- 38:56Speaker 2: Am I gonna do?
- 38:57Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 38:57Speaker 1: Well, I mean, are you to do a mashup like that?
- 39:00Speaker 2: Sometimes? Yeah?
- 39:00Speaker 7: That might.
- 39:01Speaker 6: That might be times where I choose to kind of
- 39:03Speaker 6: go off the beaten path. What I what I want
- 39:05Speaker 6: to say as a if you've ever been on my show,
- 39:10Speaker 6: there know to it like right, So this gave me
- 39:13Speaker 6: an opportunity to be able to spread my wings and
- 39:16Speaker 6: really have fun with my audience. Sometimes it's going to be,
- 39:19Speaker 6: you know, a special guest. Sometimes you know, we might
- 39:22Speaker 6: flip things up. Sometimes we might just bring out an
- 39:25Speaker 6: entire performer that you never would have thought would have
- 39:27Speaker 6: been on the stage.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Uh, and that's the point.
- 39:30Speaker 6: The point is to give people an experience that is unpredictable,
- 39:34Speaker 6: but you know you can predict that you're going to
- 39:36Speaker 6: have a great time. Will there be mashups of all
- 39:41Speaker 6: of the songs?
- 39:42Speaker 2: You know? What I have started to do is kind
- 39:45Speaker 2: of underneath the.
- 39:45Speaker 6: Caption, just look to see if there are specific records
- 39:49Speaker 6: that people want to see doing the show, and then
- 39:51Speaker 6: I kind of put it in the show sequence. We've
- 39:53Speaker 6: been talking about, all right, the flow of it. It's
- 39:55Speaker 6: got to represent past, present, future. We know you know
- 39:58Speaker 6: whom I influences on. But have you been able to
- 40:01Speaker 6: make the connection to the music in a way where
- 40:03Speaker 6: you can actually get it, understand it, and celebrate them.
- 40:07Speaker 6: That's something that I thought of, and I'm going to,
- 40:10Speaker 6: you know, kind of celebrate my legacy at the same
- 40:13Speaker 6: time because now I guess been an artist long enough
- 40:16Speaker 6: to have a past. Yes, and you know it's gonna
- 40:20Speaker 6: it's gonna definitely be.
- 40:21Speaker 7: Fun and you're blessed in Atlanta with six shows?
- 40:24Speaker 2: Yeah, six shows, that's crazy.
- 40:27Speaker 1: I paid just so you know. My wife got to go.
- 40:29Speaker 1: She went to her legacy. I didn't go with her
- 40:31Speaker 1: because I didn't want.
- 40:33Speaker 2: I'm not gonna lie. I'm calling somebody. Get that free.
- 40:37Speaker 1: I can't do that.
- 40:38Speaker 7: I'll come with BT.
- 40:39Speaker 1: I'm calling somebody, but I want to ask you this.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Sam BT always showed with a gang of people.
- 40:44Speaker 7: I'm in the gang.
- 40:46Speaker 3: I want to ask you what what year are you in? Mentally,
- 40:48Speaker 3: because I know you. Sometimes artists like yourself, legendary artists
- 40:51Speaker 3: like yourself have to think ahead. Are you in the
- 40:53Speaker 3: moment in twenty twenty four?
- 40:54Speaker 2: A you think?
- 40:55Speaker 1: Are you twenty twenty five? Are you beyond? Like? What's
- 40:58Speaker 1: your future?
- 41:00Speaker 2: Well relevant? Hey, you know to say the least that this.
- 41:07Speaker 6: Industry is lacking in the space of entertainment in the
- 41:12Speaker 6: way that I think I offer entertainment, which it sometimes
- 41:15Speaker 6: may be raw. I can't think so far ahead. I
- 41:19Speaker 6: have to think about how things have been done in
- 41:22Speaker 6: the past. And that's part of the reason that I'm
- 41:23Speaker 6: curating the types of shows and experiences that I have.
- 41:26Speaker 6: I don't really want to make it too educational, but
- 41:28Speaker 6: just my own process. You know what I'm saying that
- 41:30Speaker 6: I go through that I have to analyze and prepare
- 41:33Speaker 6: for people to just to be able to enjoy it.
- 41:35Speaker 6: But where I am is thinking about the future by
- 41:39Speaker 6: way of making certain that the past is not forgotten,
- 41:43Speaker 6: because that's why we do the kind of music that
- 41:45Speaker 6: we do. That's why we are the entertainers we are.
- 41:48Speaker 6: That's why we entertain because of what they did. So
- 41:54Speaker 6: bringing it all together and then having some fun in
- 41:57Speaker 6: this moment, but it also to being mindful that, yeah,
- 42:00Speaker 6: we're moving into new ideas of how people you know,
- 42:03Speaker 6: even enjoy shows. Right, Who's to say that you need
- 42:07Speaker 6: to just stand in front of an audience in order
- 42:08Speaker 6: to enjoy a show. That's why I brought you to
- 42:10Speaker 6: Las Vegas and made you feel like you were in
- 42:12Speaker 6: the club. That's why I brought you to Las Vegas
- 42:14Speaker 6: and made you feel like you were in Atlanta, because
- 42:16Speaker 6: it's not just about me performing for you, it's about
- 42:18Speaker 6: you enjoying the show as well.
- 42:20Speaker 2: That's a future concept.
- 42:21Speaker 6: So I'm playing with all these ideas of moving people
- 42:24Speaker 6: in the space and having a good time. But I
- 42:27Speaker 6: don't want to give you too much, you know what.
- 42:29Speaker 7: I just want to say thank you for all that
- 42:31Speaker 7: you've contributed to the culture. All you're doing from the
- 42:34Speaker 7: past present, and the things that you will be doing
- 42:36Speaker 7: in the future. We're so proud of you man and
- 42:39Speaker 7: just thank you.
- 42:39Speaker 2: I want for that before.
- 42:42Speaker 7: We get out of here that we do have.
- 42:43Speaker 2: A pep talk yo. What up to your boy? Arsha?
