- 3:03Speaker 1: All right, Johnny, I mentioned franchise mode. You've been breaking
- 3:09Speaker 1: down the quarterback class for the NFL Draft. It's on
- 3:13Speaker 1: the Action Network YouTube page. You can get it on
- 3:15Speaker 1: our TikTok and get it on Instagram, get it on
- 3:17Speaker 1: your socials. The very first question I get, and I
- 3:21Speaker 1: know why we did this, Johnny Manziel analyzing NFL draft quarterbacks.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Why I think for me analyzing this draft of quarterbacks, drafting,
- 3:29Speaker 3: or just like looking at quarterbacks in general. For me,
- 3:31Speaker 3: as I watch football today in today's day and age,
- 3:35Speaker 3: you know, I watch it very much as the way
- 3:37Speaker 3: that I was taught, which is through these NFL coaches eyes,
- 3:41Speaker 3: through the eyes of Kyle Shanahan, through the eyes of
- 3:44Speaker 3: Chris Kingsbury, and for me, I look at football in
- 3:47Speaker 3: a very detailed way because of how I was taught,
- 3:49Speaker 3: and that's something that you know, contradicts I think a
- 3:52Speaker 3: lot of what people think about me. And for me,
- 3:54Speaker 3: I enjoyed the game. I enjoy watching a group of
- 3:58Speaker 3: young quarterbacks go on to try and have success in
- 4:01Speaker 3: the NFL. And these guys in general, I believe, are
- 4:05Speaker 3: very very good being around getting a chance, luckily from
- 4:08Speaker 3: you guys to be able to have the opportunity to
- 4:11Speaker 3: do that as something that's extremely special for me.
- 4:14Speaker 1: When you say you're watching it, now, what are you
- 4:16Speaker 1: looking at?
- 4:17Speaker 3: You're looking for things to jump off the page. You know,
- 4:20Speaker 3: you're looking for plays from guys that as a former player,
- 4:24Speaker 3: you're looking at and you go wow. There's a lot
- 4:26Speaker 3: of guys in this class especially that make you go well.
- 4:29Speaker 3: From one through six, there's a great list of guys
- 4:33Speaker 3: in this class who can sit there as you're watching
- 4:35Speaker 3: college football on a Saturday for the past two or
- 4:38Speaker 3: three years and see these guys make plays that make
- 4:40Speaker 3: you say wow, all right, s.
- 4:43Speaker 1: And I know you want to dig on you want
- 4:45Speaker 1: to dig in on some of these guys. But I
- 4:47Speaker 1: got to say, you had a take on Michael Pennix
- 4:49Speaker 1: Junior a month ago that was essentially saying he was
- 4:53Speaker 1: the second best quarterback in the draft. At the time,
- 4:56Speaker 1: he was a mid day two prospect. Now all of
- 4:59Speaker 1: a sudden, where seventy two hours from the draft and
- 5:04Speaker 1: there's all this smoke about Penix going in the first round.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Could it be to Seattle, where you know his former
- 5:11Speaker 1: offensive coordinator is now the coach. Could it be to
- 5:14Speaker 1: the Falcons who have hinted they might like him at
- 5:16Speaker 1: ten before we get to Johnny who was ahead of
- 5:19Speaker 1: Penix head of the curve on Penick Simon, what have
- 5:22Speaker 1: you been hearing?
- 5:24Speaker 2: Just a bunch of different stuff, But I think it's
- 5:26Speaker 2: going to what I think Gihny's been talking about for
- 5:28Speaker 2: the last month or so.
- 5:28Speaker 4: But a lot of these teams. I fell in love
- 5:30Speaker 4: with him. It's just all the tools.
- 5:31Speaker 2: So the big fear with him is just as a GM,
- 5:34Speaker 2: it's the injury stuff, especially when you're ranking these guys
- 5:36Speaker 2: as like scouting, what's the on the field stuff and
- 5:38Speaker 2: then what's off the field stuff, and then you combine
- 5:41Speaker 2: both of that to make a grade on them, Right it's.
- 5:43Speaker 4: Not just skill set talent wise, because I.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Think a lot of guys they look at Penis and
- 5:48Speaker 2: he does make all the throws like he is an
- 5:50Speaker 2: incredible passer from the pocket.
- 5:52Speaker 4: The question with him was the athleticism.
- 5:54Speaker 2: And then the injury and the health, right, So I
- 5:56Speaker 2: think teams got more comfortable they realized.
- 5:58Speaker 4: That he had a lot of bad luck with injuries.
- 6:01Speaker 2: He wasn't just great because of his incredible offensive line
- 6:03Speaker 2: and his first round receivers. A lot of it was him,
- 6:06Speaker 2: Like he made his receivers better in a lot of ways.
- 6:09Speaker 2: So I think it's it's interesting talking to people where
- 6:12Speaker 2: he was looked at as a late second round, mid
- 6:15Speaker 2: second round guy, and I think what really helped him
- 6:16Speaker 2: Chad was his forty time like he ran a gray forward.
- 6:19Speaker 2: I think a lot of people are like, wow, this
- 6:21Speaker 2: kid's actually kind of athletic, because in college, once you
- 6:24Speaker 2: got outside the pocket, he looked like a bad quarterback, right.
- 6:26Speaker 2: He didn't look as well prepared. So yeah, definitely interest here.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Johnny's taken why he's ranked him at number two against
- 6:32Speaker 2: you know again, I'm a big Daniels fan.
- 6:34Speaker 4: I just can't imagine have him above Daniels.
- 6:36Speaker 3: You know, when you come into the pre draft process
- 6:39Speaker 3: and you really have questions that need to be answered,
- 6:41Speaker 3: and you go through the whole process and then you
- 6:43Speaker 3: answer those questions and then some I think all he's
- 6:46Speaker 3: done is help his draft stock. I think, you know,
- 6:48Speaker 3: in the position that he plays, you don't have to
- 6:51Speaker 3: be a full fledged runner in the NFL, but third
- 6:54Speaker 3: and four, third and five, to be able to get
- 6:56Speaker 3: out and escape and make and keep drives going, is
- 6:59Speaker 3: you know a question for him, I would think on
- 7:01Speaker 3: the next level and to go out and show some athleticism,
- 7:04Speaker 3: show a forty times, show consistency through the process of
- 7:08Speaker 3: pre draft. I think it puts him in a great
- 7:10Speaker 3: position for what he wants to do, and I think
- 7:12Speaker 3: that teams are seeing that in him. I think teams
- 7:14Speaker 3: are seeing that. You know, he's a great leader, he
- 7:17Speaker 3: throws the ball as good as anybody in the draft class.
- 7:20Speaker 3: And you know, all the things that I spoke positively
- 7:23Speaker 3: about him, I continue to echo because I feel it's
- 7:26Speaker 3: the truth. And I think somebody will be getting a
- 7:28Speaker 3: great quarterback with him no matter where he goes. And
- 7:31Speaker 3: he's deserving to go in the first round, just based
- 7:33Speaker 3: off who he is as a football player.
- 7:35Speaker 1: But if he's going to be better than somebody, then
- 7:39Speaker 1: there has to be something about the other quarterbacks that
- 7:43Speaker 1: you don't necessarily like. Michael Pennix as a for you
- 7:47Speaker 1: second quarterback, what is your criticism of the other quarterbacks
- 7:52Speaker 1: that makes him better.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Jaden Daniels is still going to go second quarterback off
- 7:57Speaker 3: the board. I don't think there's a lot of negatives
- 7:59Speaker 3: on any of them. I think it's all about fit
- 8:00Speaker 3: from Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake May and Michael Pennock Junior.
- 8:05Speaker 3: I think between those four guys and then you add
- 8:07Speaker 3: JJ McCarthy, I think for those four or five guys,
- 8:10Speaker 3: you're getting starting caliber type of young, good rookie quarterbacks.
- 8:14Speaker 4: But there is something you do dislike because you have
- 8:16Speaker 4: Penix as too.
- 8:17Speaker 3: I think it's my list, right. I think it's who
- 8:19Speaker 3: I like more than the others. I don't think Jaydon
- 8:21Speaker 3: Daniels throws the football as well as Michael Pennock Junior does.
- 8:24Speaker 4: This current point, I agree with that.
- 8:26Speaker 3: I think his running ability and as a whole potential wise,
- 8:29Speaker 3: Jayden Daniels is going to grow into something great when
- 8:31Speaker 3: he gets with a coach and gets into the NFL setting.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Drake May, I think, is a guy who needs to
- 8:36Speaker 3: be instructured and needs to be in a good team
- 8:38Speaker 3: like Minnesota, like certain places to be able to really
- 8:41Speaker 3: flourish in what makes him good. I think he needs
- 8:43Speaker 3: to get with an offensive mind like Kevin O'Connell to
- 8:46Speaker 3: get to who he needs to be as a player.
- 8:49Speaker 3: That's what I see as a fit from college quarterback
- 8:52Speaker 3: to NFL. JJ McCarthy. Another example what I don't like
- 8:56Speaker 3: about him is his fit has to be so perfect
- 8:59Speaker 3: for him to come in. You can't drop him in
- 9:02Speaker 3: at every single team and have him go and flourish.
- 9:05Speaker 3: It's a lot like me where I end up going
- 9:07Speaker 3: to Cleveland and I get with Shanahan and it doesn't
- 9:09Speaker 3: really work out. Is the right fit you don't know.
- 9:12Speaker 3: I think a couple of these guys at the bottom,
- 9:14Speaker 3: from Drake May to JJ McCarthy, even Jaden Daniels a
- 9:17Speaker 3: little bit, they're going to need the right fit, and
- 9:19Speaker 3: they're going to need the right mesh. I think you
- 9:21Speaker 3: could throw Caleb in anywhere to any of the thirty
- 9:24Speaker 3: two teams in the NFL and he's going to be successful.
- 9:26Speaker 3: I don't feel that way about anybody else in this class.
- 9:30Speaker 1: I mean that's great. I mean that's exactly sort of
- 9:33Speaker 1: the thinking that I don't think a lot of people
- 9:37Speaker 1: are applying to this. They're only sort of going with
- 9:41Speaker 1: the rundown and saying any one of these guys, especially
- 9:44Speaker 1: at Jayden Daniels, especially a Drake, may can fit in anywhere,
- 9:47Speaker 1: whether we're talking about Washington, we're talking about New England.
- 9:52Speaker 1: You mentioned fit. You have a lot of experience with FIT,
- 9:55Speaker 1: You have a lot of experience with owning responsibility for
- 9:58Speaker 1: why it didn't work, but also the challenges of being
- 10:01Speaker 1: in Cleveland. When you look at what's on the board
- 10:04Speaker 1: right now, you see the players take people behind the
- 10:07Speaker 1: scenes of like what do these guys want to be
- 10:11Speaker 1: looking for? To try to figure out where they might
- 10:15Speaker 1: fit in, where they might be comfortable. Because when you're
- 10:19Speaker 1: going in as a twenty one to twenty two year
- 10:21Speaker 1: old kid, it's not just about how am I going
- 10:23Speaker 1: to play as a quarterback.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Yeah, it's one of those things like do you know
- 10:26Speaker 3: those guys are sitting there in a very floating type
- 10:30Speaker 3: of position right now. This part of the draft phase
- 10:32Speaker 3: is the most like uncertain certainty that you can probably
- 10:38Speaker 3: ever have in your life. Right, for me, sitting there
- 10:40Speaker 3: at this point in time, I had a very high
- 10:43Speaker 3: inclination that I would be a first round draft pick.
- 10:45Speaker 3: It was a want, it was a need, it was
- 10:47Speaker 3: a desire at that point in time, because I felt
- 10:50Speaker 3: like it's what you had to do. You had to
- 10:52Speaker 3: be a first round pick. You had to go be
- 10:54Speaker 3: the space of the franchise, and that's where I was
- 10:56Speaker 3: at in my time. But in reality, I think these
- 10:58Speaker 3: guys are sitting here in situation of they don't know
- 11:01Speaker 3: what's going on. You know, outside of Caleb in this draft,
- 11:04Speaker 3: I would highly doubt or Jaden maybe or Drake, like
- 11:08Speaker 3: a couple of these guys. If one and two is
- 11:09Speaker 3: already set in stone, the majority of the guys in
- 11:12Speaker 3: these class are going to have no idea where they fall.
- 11:14Speaker 3: So let's just use Michael Pennocks as an example. You know,
- 11:18Speaker 3: for him, he's sitting here probably hoping to get into
- 11:21Speaker 3: a similar situation that he was in in Washington. You know,
- 11:25Speaker 3: good solid foundation, a good franchise, doesn't mind playing in
- 11:28Speaker 3: the cold. Really can be anywhere you can plug and
- 11:30Speaker 3: play him in any kind of weather, any kind of
- 11:33Speaker 3: stadium anywhere, and I think he's going to flourish. So
- 11:35Speaker 3: like you know, a New England with a good structure
- 11:38Speaker 3: and like you know, an organization that has a lot
- 11:41Speaker 3: of history in cold weather, it doesn't bother him. They
- 11:44Speaker 3: need a quarterback Vegas.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Vegas is favorite the lamp Penix right now.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I would love Vegas for him as well. You know,
- 11:50Speaker 3: I think the favorites and where the odds are, you know,
- 11:52Speaker 3: the majority of the time, like I saw Cayleb Williams
- 11:54Speaker 3: Odds's minus forty thousand or whatever to go. Yeah, that's extreme,
- 11:58Speaker 3: That's that's happening. Now. As you look at the odds,
- 12:00Speaker 3: you're kind of going to tell for the most part,
- 12:03Speaker 3: you know who's going to go where. You know, if
- 12:05Speaker 3: the odds are high on Pinix in Vegas, I just
- 12:08Speaker 3: mean somebody else is probably going to have to trade
- 12:10Speaker 3: up to try and come and get them, is what
- 12:12Speaker 3: I would think looking at that from my perspective, because
- 12:15Speaker 3: I know in my draft twenty three was the Kansas
- 12:18Speaker 3: City Chiefs and the Browns traded up to twenty two
- 12:20Speaker 3: to jump in front of them, or I think I
- 12:22Speaker 3: would have ended up in Arrowhead.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Do you ever think about that. Do you think about
- 12:28Speaker 1: the different scenarios and what might have been and how
- 12:30Speaker 1: you would have managed that?
- 12:32Speaker 3: Yeah, how can you not? I mean, as you say
- 12:34Speaker 3: here today, and know that your NFL career didn't work out,
- 12:36Speaker 3: wouldn't it be nice to fantasize and think about going
- 12:39Speaker 3: somewhere else to be able to maybe have a fresh
- 12:41Speaker 3: start or something different or if it had worked out.
- 12:43Speaker 3: And I don't play that game as much with myself
- 12:46Speaker 3: anymore as I used to in the past. I think
- 12:48Speaker 3: that's a lot of what I've been doing for the
- 12:49Speaker 3: last eight years. But fit does matter and where you
- 12:53Speaker 3: go and a coach believing in you. Somebody has to
- 12:56Speaker 3: believe in one of these guys and believe in it
- 12:57Speaker 3: the way that they may not even believe in themselves.
- 13:00Speaker 3: And that's where I ran in some trouble, as you know,
- 13:02Speaker 3: I had people believing in me. But when it comes
- 13:04Speaker 3: down to it, if you're not doing the work yourself
- 13:06Speaker 3: to get to where you need to go individually as
- 13:08Speaker 3: a person, you're still going to have your struggles no
- 13:11Speaker 3: matter how much belief is in that quarterback row. And
- 13:13Speaker 3: that's from my experience.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Well, yeah, you had this great interview with Shannon Sharp,
- 13:19Speaker 1: where you talked about the experience in Cleveland that you
- 13:23Speaker 1: just sort of brought up in the challenge of having
- 13:26Speaker 1: that confidence. And I think it was a defensive coordinator
- 13:30Speaker 1: says something about you'd be a great football player if
- 13:32Speaker 1: you got your head out of your ass, and then
- 13:33Speaker 1: that was immediately sort of a trigger that was really
- 13:37Speaker 1: challenging for you. What do you remember about that. Why
- 13:40Speaker 1: do you think it had such an impact.
- 13:43Speaker 3: I think for me, I was at a place in
- 13:44Speaker 3: my life where my game was struggling and I didn't
- 13:46Speaker 3: have the confidence in myself on the football field that
- 13:48Speaker 3: I normally had in the past. And when you lose
- 13:51Speaker 3: that confidence in yourself, start to question whether you can
- 13:55Speaker 3: make that throw. And the NFL is not a place
- 13:58Speaker 3: for you to drop back five steps like sitting back there,
- 14:01Speaker 3: going can I make this? Can I make this throw?
- 14:03Speaker 3: Can I really step into this and get it to
- 14:05Speaker 3: where I need to be? And when your confidence is
- 14:07Speaker 3: you know, not there, and you're taking steps back in
- 14:09Speaker 3: the game and you're dropping and thinking about this or
- 14:11Speaker 3: thinking about that. Football is not a game that you
- 14:13Speaker 3: can think and play. You need to go out and
- 14:15Speaker 3: have your work done, pre prepped and pre ready to
- 14:18Speaker 3: go to where when Sundays come around, you just do
- 14:21Speaker 3: you don't think.
- 14:25Speaker 1: The I'm curious when you started digging in and looking
- 14:33Speaker 1: at football again from from the perspective you are now
- 14:38Speaker 1: where you can analyze it, where you can be sort
- 14:42Speaker 1: of detached, when you're not thinking about oh, that could
- 14:44Speaker 1: have been me kind of stuff, but more as a
- 14:48Speaker 1: as someone who has the expertise and can relay the information.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I think for me, just I had to fall
- 14:55Speaker 3: out of love with the game for a little bit.
- 14:56Speaker 3: So for two years when I got done playing, I
- 14:58Speaker 3: wanted nothing to do with football, nothing. I didn't want
- 15:00Speaker 3: to watch. I didn't want to see any of it.
- 15:02Speaker 3: And it kind of made me sick to even have
- 15:04Speaker 3: to walk by TVs on Saturdays and Sundays and have
- 15:06Speaker 3: to see a game of football being played and slowly
- 15:09Speaker 3: through life and just you know, time passing by. I
- 15:12Speaker 3: got back to a place where I could watch it
- 15:15Speaker 3: and have some enjoyment about seeing the beauty of the
- 15:17Speaker 3: game of football and look at it from a perspective
- 15:20Speaker 3: of not in a selfish lens, you know, look at
- 15:22Speaker 3: it as a football does good for the world. You know,
- 15:25Speaker 3: football does good for people a fan base. You know,
- 15:29Speaker 3: you know, it's more than just the players. There's so
- 15:32Speaker 3: much tied into the game of football that sometimes when
- 15:36Speaker 3: you're playing, you don't necessarily see, and when you're out
- 15:39Speaker 3: of it, you definitely see through a different lens. How
- 15:42Speaker 3: much goes in to just showing up to a game
- 15:45Speaker 3: on Sunday, from the staff, to the fans, to all
- 15:49Speaker 3: of it that goes in. When you become a spectator
- 15:51Speaker 3: and you're not a player, you really get another chance
- 15:54Speaker 3: to see and it makes you feel some kind.
- 15:56Speaker 4: Of way again.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Fit is very important what he's talking about. I think
- 15:58Speaker 2: Johnny is a great templeament of You are probably one
- 16:02Speaker 2: of the more gifted athletes ever to play football. I
- 16:04Speaker 2: think anyone's ever watched college football that grew up and
- 16:06Speaker 2: joined the game and loves the game. You're a unicorn
- 16:09Speaker 2: like that. You're you're a player that there hasn't really
- 16:12Speaker 2: been one since you came to the league and before you.
- 16:14Speaker 2: I really can't think of a guy that came into
- 16:16Speaker 2: the league. But I think you're also the proof of
- 16:19Speaker 2: talent only gets you so far, right, Like when you
- 16:22Speaker 2: I can't imagine the feeling you had when you first
- 16:24Speaker 2: got the NFL of you're looking up. I mean Peyton
- 16:26Speaker 2: Manny is one of that says. What I'm about to
- 16:28Speaker 2: say here is that he knew how good he was.
- 16:30Speaker 2: He remember we got to the league. It was like
- 16:32Speaker 2: looking up this giant mountain and the guy was like,
- 16:34Speaker 2: you got to work every day to walk up to
- 16:37Speaker 2: that top of that mountain while three hundred pound dudes
- 16:39Speaker 2: are trying to beat the carp buy you and kill
- 16:41Speaker 2: you while you're trying to comb up there. So you
- 16:44Speaker 2: know what it takes. And I think you're a testament
- 16:46Speaker 2: of you know, you're very open about it, but it's like,
- 16:50Speaker 2: it's incredible how many people get washed out because of
- 16:52Speaker 2: getting overwhelmed by that amount of pressure to succeed that
- 16:55Speaker 2: way and the amount of work ahead of you. Did
- 16:56Speaker 2: you feel that overwhelmingess when you got into the league
- 16:59Speaker 2: of like, holy shit, I can't just party and not
- 17:01Speaker 2: watch film, Like I got to put in a shit
- 17:03Speaker 2: ton of work here.
- 17:04Speaker 3: I would say it didn't set into me until after
- 17:06Speaker 3: a year. You know, I was so ingrained and had
- 17:09Speaker 3: so many things going right for me throughout my whole
- 17:11Speaker 3: life that I got you that good Yeah, that I
- 17:13Speaker 3: got to the NFL without any hiccups, you know, like
- 17:16Speaker 3: did I have a couple like issues in college with
- 17:19Speaker 3: off the field or this and that. Sure, But as
- 17:20Speaker 3: far as a football player, you know, I got all
- 17:24Speaker 3: the way to the biggest stage in the world based
- 17:26Speaker 3: off cure athletic talent, and like, yeah, hard work was
- 17:29Speaker 3: a little bit mixed in there, but it was definitely
- 17:31Speaker 3: always more play than work for me at that point
- 17:33Speaker 3: in time. So for me, it took a year to
- 17:36Speaker 3: set in and finally be like, oh shit, like I'm
- 17:39Speaker 3: not doing what the rest of the people in this
- 17:42Speaker 3: league are doing. You know, I'm not like step by
- 17:45Speaker 3: step incrementally climbing up that mountain. I'm sitting at the bottom,
- 17:48Speaker 3: going is something going to take me to the top
- 17:50Speaker 3: of this thing? Or what are we doing? And that
- 17:52Speaker 3: was like my mindset that I had then and then
- 17:54Speaker 3: after my first year in the league and it didn't
- 17:56Speaker 3: go the way I wanted it to, and it sat
- 17:58Speaker 3: wrong with me that I worked harder the second year
- 18:02Speaker 3: and then the situation didn't work itself out. So I think,
- 18:05Speaker 3: you know, a lot of these guys are sitting here
- 18:06Speaker 3: right now and they don't necessarily know the work. They
- 18:09Speaker 3: may think they know the work that they have in
- 18:11Speaker 3: front of them. But other than that, you just really
- 18:15Speaker 3: hope that these guys have the love of the game
- 18:17Speaker 3: instilled all the way into them to where they live it,
- 18:20Speaker 3: they breathe it, and they have that Peyton Manny Tom
- 18:22Speaker 3: Brady kind of mindset in them, because without that mindset,
- 18:26Speaker 3: I don't care how gifted you are athletically, you won't
- 18:29Speaker 3: make it unless you're a grinder in the NFL. And
- 18:32Speaker 3: they get weeded out every single day. I mean there's talented,
- 18:35Speaker 3: talented guys. I'm a laundry list, you know. I'm one
- 18:38Speaker 3: of many and a long line of people who haven't
- 18:42Speaker 3: reached their full potential in the NFL. Call it a bus,
- 18:45Speaker 3: call it what you want, whatever it may be. It's
- 18:48Speaker 3: a hard game. It's a man's game and one you
- 18:50Speaker 3: have to work out every day, and if you don't,
- 18:52Speaker 3: you get weeded out. The NFL is not for long,
- 18:56Speaker 3: and it means that in every sense of the word.
- 18:58Speaker 3: The average you know, people play in this league is
- 19:01Speaker 3: three and a half years. Like that is really truly
- 19:04Speaker 3: what the average is. If you make it and play
- 19:06Speaker 3: four years, you're above average. I made it too, so
- 19:10Speaker 3: I'm below average. And that was what my career was
- 19:12Speaker 3: in a sense. And you know, to have a long career,
- 19:15Speaker 3: whether it's a starter, a backup, a third string, any
- 19:20Speaker 3: of it really comes with the hard work because there's
- 19:25Speaker 3: only thirty two spots, and there's only sixty four first,
- 19:27Speaker 3: and you know the backup quarterbacks in the NFL, So
- 19:30Speaker 3: you're one of sixty four and the entire planet, and
- 19:33Speaker 3: then there's a couple guys scattered around. Really you're fighting
- 19:37Speaker 3: for one of sixty four. And that's what your fight
- 19:38Speaker 3: is every day. If you don't have your mindset around
- 19:41Speaker 3: that and based in that, you're going to struggle.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Simon, can you name the fastest growing ticketing app in
- 19:47Speaker 1: the United States?
- 19:49Speaker 4: Game Time?
- 19:50Speaker 1: That's right, it's game Time. I love game Time for
- 19:52Speaker 1: two reasons. First, they still sponsor this show. Second, I
- 19:56Speaker 1: actually use game Time all the time. They have amazing
- 19:59Speaker 1: last minute deals, including pro and college sports. Speaking of which,
- 20:04Speaker 1: I'm opening the game Time app right now from my
- 20:06Speaker 1: house here in Connecticut. Guess what I can get in
- 20:09Speaker 1: to see the New York Mets less than ten bucks
- 20:14Speaker 1: two night. No matter where you live, download the game
- 20:17Speaker 1: Time app. Get out have some fun this week. You
- 20:20Speaker 1: deserve it. You can redeem code favorites for twenty dollars

- 20:27Speaker 1: your first purchase. Last minute tickets, lowest prices guaranteed. So
- 20:32Speaker 1: when you were at A and M, especially your freshman year,
- 20:35Speaker 1: obviously you guys kind of came out of nowhere, and
- 20:40Speaker 1: as there's always the as sort of always happens, betters
- 20:44Speaker 1: see ahead of the curve, and so professional betters were
- 20:50Speaker 1: just making bank on A and M games your freshman year.
- 20:56Speaker 1: How do you get treated in the years after that,
- 21:00Speaker 1: even to beat like those first couple of years when
- 21:03Speaker 1: you're going to Vegas and you're Johnny Football and you've
- 21:06Speaker 1: been making professional betters six figures, seventh figures over the
- 21:10Speaker 1: course of a year.
- 21:12Speaker 3: Yeah. I run into people probably every single week, whether
- 21:15Speaker 3: it's professional betters or people. Every single week. One of
- 21:18Speaker 3: my conversations is somebody comes up and taps me on
- 21:20Speaker 3: the shoulder and goes, I made so much money off
- 21:22Speaker 3: if you gambling in college, thank you. I've always wanted
- 21:25Speaker 3: to meet you, and I really do, truly hear that
- 21:27Speaker 3: every week in my life. It's hilarious. So you know,
- 21:30Speaker 3: we were underdogs in a lot of those games at
- 21:32Speaker 3: Texas A and M fifteen and a half point underdogs
- 21:34Speaker 3: at Alabama, like as we crowned up and came out
- 21:36Speaker 3: of nowhere. If you rode our eleven and two season
- 21:39Speaker 3: that year, I bet we almost covered probably every single
- 21:41Speaker 3: game in there that first year. Now next year, you know,
- 21:43Speaker 3: we probably had a couple of heartbreaks in there, being
- 21:45Speaker 3: top five in the country, and it might have given
- 21:47Speaker 3: a little bit of money back. But I know that
- 21:48Speaker 3: first year people were making some money on some money
- 21:51Speaker 3: lines throughout there. I know that.
- 21:53Speaker 1: I know you're looking at one of them, and it
- 21:54Speaker 1: wasn't me.
- 21:56Speaker 2: I was gonna say, don't feel too bad, giant. The
- 21:59Speaker 2: difference between Rose and regular people as we ride the
- 22:01Speaker 2: wave and then we know when they get off, when
- 22:03Speaker 2: the public stays on the wave. So no, don't worry, brother,
- 22:06Speaker 2: We played both sides. So we love you in every
- 22:08Speaker 2: way you can imagine, no doubt appreciate your brother.
- 22:12Speaker 3: That's much love.
- 22:13Speaker 1: When you're thinking about how much do you actually bet? Now,
- 22:15Speaker 1: I know we talked about this. When you look at
- 22:19Speaker 1: college especially college football, where I feel like you've got
- 22:22Speaker 1: a real advantage in how you think about the game,
- 22:26Speaker 1: how much you're actually betting on it.
- 22:28Speaker 3: A really good sweat last night. I bet the freaking
- 22:34Speaker 3: Oklahoma City money line last night and really got out
- 22:38Speaker 3: of that because I was laying a lot of juice
- 22:41Speaker 3: and that came down to a testy, little shy bucket
- 22:46Speaker 3: there at the end to get me over the hump.
- 22:49Speaker 3: But I took the Pelicans in the first round against
- 22:52Speaker 3: the Kings. Then I had to fade them last night
- 22:54Speaker 3: in Game one, So I probably would have been easier
- 22:57Speaker 3: about to just take the plus eight. But I'm getting
- 23:00Speaker 3: I'm out here, you know, looking and getting locked in
- 23:02Speaker 3: a little bit NBA playoff time. I'm definitely more of
- 23:06Speaker 3: a college football better, So you know, once training camp
- 23:10Speaker 3: comes around a little bit, I start to do a
- 23:11Speaker 3: little research. There's always a lot of value in college
- 23:15Speaker 3: football teams, and early in the season if you can
- 23:18Speaker 3: pick right and you can get on these right teams
- 23:21Speaker 3: that are a little undervalued. Usually it's teams that are
- 23:23Speaker 3: lingering around the eleven to twenty five ranked and the
- 23:27Speaker 3: a people. If you're in that window, your spreads are
- 23:29Speaker 3: going to be a little bit different, and you're going
- 23:31Speaker 3: to come out and if your team is good from
- 23:33Speaker 3: the year before and it transitions over, you can usually
- 23:36Speaker 3: find some value early on in college football season, and
- 23:38Speaker 3: like bride those teams for the first three or four
- 23:41Speaker 3: games until they get into their bigger games, because there's
- 23:44Speaker 3: blowouts on the schedule in college football. And I love
- 23:46Speaker 3: nothing more than easy covers, no sweats.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Well, brother, if you're bet in NBA playoffs money line
- 23:55Speaker 1: and like pals in the first round, like dude, that
- 24:00Speaker 1: is that's legit gambling right there. That's around.
- 24:05Speaker 3: No, I still got a little bit of like I
- 24:07Speaker 3: still I mean, I've lived my life by the gamble.
- 24:09Speaker 3: If I'm like, if I'm playing golf in Scottsdale my
- 24:12Speaker 3: daily life and I'm playing golf three or four days
- 24:14Speaker 3: a week, you know you're not stepping on the course
- 24:16Speaker 3: with me for under, you know, two three, four, five
- 24:18Speaker 3: hundred bucks, Like that's just what we're going to do.
- 24:20Speaker 3: So it translates into the basketball stuff and the football.
- 24:24Speaker 3: I mean, betting's here and it's here to stay. And
- 24:27Speaker 3: I live in a state like Arizona where it's very
- 24:28Speaker 3: easily accessible, and you know, I love it, always have always.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Well, where are you on the draft right now? So
- 24:38Speaker 1: one of the bigger bets that a lot of people
- 24:39Speaker 1: are talking about over four and a half quarterbacks in
- 24:42Speaker 1: the first round. Do you have a position on that
- 24:44Speaker 1: right now?
- 24:46Speaker 3: That's a really good line. I think it's going to
- 24:48Speaker 3: come down to how quick they come off. So if
- 24:52Speaker 3: you get that that line hits, it has a better chance. Really,
- 24:57Speaker 3: another way to look at it is two and a
- 24:59Speaker 3: half over the last thirty picks, And that's another kind
- 25:02Speaker 3: of way to look at it, because I believe one
- 25:03Speaker 3: and two are already locked in with quarterbacks. You know,
- 25:06Speaker 3: my class was a year that I thought a lot
- 25:08Speaker 3: of quarterbacks would come off the board, and then we
- 25:10Speaker 3: really only had two or three in the first I
- 25:14Speaker 3: think Teddy ended up going with the last pick of
- 25:15Speaker 3: the first so we had three. But it was another
- 25:18Speaker 3: like four and a half type of line like that,
- 25:20Speaker 3: And I remember like it was yesterday. So if I
- 25:23Speaker 3: had to bet on this, I would probably take the
- 25:26Speaker 3: over on four and a half going in the first round.
- 25:29Speaker 3: It's really right on the button. I think it could
- 25:31Speaker 3: be four five wouldn't surprise me. But I think that
- 25:34Speaker 3: half a point's going to be a lot sat.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a little bit of a scary bet because
- 25:41Speaker 2: it felt easier a month ago we talked about just
- 25:43Speaker 2: because it felt like the bow Nix thing was going
- 25:45Speaker 2: to happen. Right here, we're kind of like somebody who's
- 25:46Speaker 2: going with that fifteen pick or fourteen to Denver. I mean,
- 25:50Speaker 2: Denver's been kind of quiet about it. Now. No one
- 25:52Speaker 2: knows is Denver the team that's going to sneakily move
- 25:54Speaker 2: up to that Patriots position or the number four pick,
- 25:57Speaker 2: and they're gonna be the ones that take Drake May
- 25:59Speaker 2: or JJ because everyone just penciled into Vikings.
- 26:01Speaker 4: So to me, I believe there's going to be five
- 26:06Speaker 4: in the first I just not even that.
- 26:08Speaker 2: I don't even think bon Nix is worthy of a
- 26:09Speaker 2: first round pick, but all on, it takes one team
- 26:11Speaker 2: to fall in love with them.
- 26:12Speaker 4: But I've stand by with Gianny talked about Penix.
- 26:14Speaker 2: It's like Pennix has answered the questions, Like there were
- 26:17Speaker 2: so many questions that he shouldn't be a first round pick,
- 26:20Speaker 2: and I think he's earned the right. He's moved up
- 26:23Speaker 2: from a second round pick to a first round pick
- 26:24Speaker 2: to a lot of people I've spoken to, So to me,
- 26:27Speaker 2: the minus two hundred minus two fifty, the odds or
- 26:29Speaker 2: whatever it is now for the over four and a
- 26:31Speaker 2: half quarterbacks. I think it's a fair number just because
- 26:34Speaker 2: when the draft comes, teams trying to make the move.
- 26:37Speaker 2: I mean, last year the bet didn't come through, but
- 26:40Speaker 2: the Titans were trying to move back in to get
- 26:42Speaker 2: a quarterback in the first round. Teams just went to
- 26:44Speaker 2: trade with So we know that teams do try to
- 26:47Speaker 2: make this move. It's all about what other teams want
- 26:49Speaker 2: to do. So this fella, like a slam Duncan's going
- 26:51Speaker 2: to be a sweat now to me, right if whatever
- 26:54Speaker 2: Denver does at that pick fourteen fifteen, now it becomes
- 26:57Speaker 2: a sweat because we need to hope for a team
- 26:59Speaker 2: to trade back in, and other teams can just come
- 27:01Speaker 2: back and sandback teams being like, no, we're not letting
- 27:03Speaker 2: you trade back in unless you give us a crazy offer.
- 27:05Speaker 2: So I still like the bet, but it definitely not
- 27:07Speaker 2: as clear cut clear as it was a couple of
- 27:09Speaker 2: months ago.
- 27:09Speaker 3: Yeah, here's the thing. I think Jaydon Daniels, Drake May,
- 27:14Speaker 3: Caleb Williams, and Pendix all deserve probably to go in
- 27:17Speaker 3: the first round. Yeah, where's your fifth is it? JJ McCarthy,
- 27:21Speaker 3: does he guarantee that he's going to go in the
- 27:23Speaker 3: first round. I don't know about that. I wouldn't like
- 27:25Speaker 3: putting my money on that that he does for sure,
- 27:29Speaker 3: and then bow knicks as well. How do you get
- 27:31Speaker 3: to five is really the question when you're talking about
- 27:33Speaker 3: that bet, because I would feel really comfortable for how
- 27:36Speaker 3: do you get over the hook? Is the real question?
- 27:39Speaker 1: Well, if you're if you're the Vikings, are you trading
- 27:42Speaker 1: up to get JJ McCarthy. You've got a lot of assets, right,
- 27:46Speaker 1: can you package something and get yourself into a quarterback
- 27:49Speaker 1: that you truly believe in? You have not been as
- 27:53Speaker 1: high on JJ McCarthy. A lot of people are starting
- 27:56Speaker 1: to talk about JJ McCarthy all of a sudden. The
- 27:58Speaker 1: question on Sports and or Get Up this morning is
- 28:01Speaker 1: does JJ McCarthy go top five? Which to me seems insane, right,
- 28:06Speaker 1: you know, Johnny, you just talked about sometimes the odds
- 28:09Speaker 1: are reflective. As we've been on this podcast. Jayden Daniels
- 28:14Speaker 1: is now I think minus three hundred to go number
- 28:16Speaker 1: two to Washington. So let's say it is Kayley Williams
- 28:20Speaker 1: and Jayden Daniels those are your one and two. Is
- 28:24Speaker 1: somebody trading up to get JJ McCarthy and is it
- 28:26Speaker 1: the vikings? And would you do it? Three questions in one.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Is somebody trading up? I think somebody trades up for
- 28:34Speaker 3: a quarterback. I don't think. I don't know necessarily if
- 28:36Speaker 3: JJ McCarthy is going to be the third one off
- 28:38Speaker 3: the board. I would be very, very surprised if that
- 28:40Speaker 3: was the case. There's a lot of other talent out there.
- 28:44Speaker 3: I think he's, like I said, probably the fifth best
- 28:47Speaker 3: quarterback in this class. All it takes is somebody for
- 28:49Speaker 3: you to fall in love with the way you are
- 28:52Speaker 3: in the building, the way you are in meetings, the
- 28:54Speaker 3: way you were in your workout. That's the thing that
- 28:56Speaker 3: we on this side of things don't get a chance
- 28:59Speaker 3: to see. We have no idea if JJ McCarthy went
- 29:01Speaker 3: into his workout with the Raiders and absolutely crushed it
- 29:06Speaker 3: so much that whoever is making that pick in Oakland
- 29:09Speaker 3: wants them or in Las Vegas wants them. So that's
- 29:12Speaker 3: what it comes down to here right now. That's the
- 29:14Speaker 3: thing that we don't know about. For all we know.
- 29:17Speaker 3: You know, in the way that this NFL system works,
- 29:19Speaker 3: they have for an idea. You know what's going to
- 29:22Speaker 3: happen in this first round of the draft, Like there's
- 29:25Speaker 3: some ebb and flow to it, and there's some craziness.
- 29:28Speaker 3: But for the most part, these gms and these coaches
- 29:31Speaker 3: know where they want to go, they know where their
- 29:33Speaker 3: needs are, they know where their fits are, and they
- 29:34Speaker 3: know who their guys are. They only get one. Some
- 29:37Speaker 3: teams get two picks in the first but most of
- 29:40Speaker 3: the time it's one, and it's a game changing pick
- 29:42Speaker 3: where GM's livelihoods are on the line or head coaches
- 29:47Speaker 3: livelihoods are on the line. Whoever makes these picks behind
- 29:50Speaker 3: the scenes, if you mess it up, you will not
- 29:53Speaker 3: be there anymore. And that's the way that this business is.
- 29:56Speaker 3: So there's a team that needs a quarterback and they
- 29:58Speaker 3: pick the wrong quarterback, heads will roll and that's the
- 30:01Speaker 3: nature of this game.
- 30:02Speaker 1: I want to go back to the college for a second.
- 30:06Speaker 1: I mean, we saw in the documentary sort of there
- 30:09Speaker 1: was access to money for you when you were in college.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Have you thought about how much money you would make
- 30:18Speaker 1: as Johnny Manziel Heisman Trophy winner as a freshman in
- 30:22Speaker 1: college right now with nil? Have you done that math?
- 30:26Speaker 3: Uh? No, I've never really done the math because I
- 30:29Speaker 3: don't think I need as much. Like the question like
- 30:32Speaker 3: how much would you to me at this point? Is
- 30:34Speaker 3: like I have enough, you know, I have enough doing
- 30:36Speaker 3: what I'm doing right now to be fulfilled and be happy.
- 30:40Speaker 3: And sometimes in life wanting more and needing more as
- 30:44Speaker 3: a mindset that's got me into a little bit of trouble.
- 30:46Speaker 3: I think at times, and right now, being content and
- 30:48Speaker 3: being happy and having everything that I could potentially or
- 30:51Speaker 3: possibly ever really need is fulfillment enough in itself for me.
- 30:56Speaker 4: There you go, Johnny, stop living in the past. My
- 30:58Speaker 4: man is in the present.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Well it's not the wrong answer, it's a really good
- 31:04Speaker 1: answer answer, it's a really healthy answer. Yeah, I had
- 31:09Speaker 1: I had a buddy the other day. I was complaining
- 31:12Speaker 1: about something stupid and he's like, you know what, you're
- 31:18Speaker 1: so fucking greedy, like like it couldn't be going better
- 31:23Speaker 1: for you and you're you're fucking whining about that extra
- 31:27Speaker 1: half percent, Like are you fucking kidding me? So I
- 31:32Speaker 1: appreciate the mindset. Meanwhile, I don't know Calen Williams making
- 31:38Speaker 1: four to five million bucks a year.
- 31:40Speaker 3: You know Williams deserve it. You know he got he
- 31:42Speaker 3: got in an arrow where you could go capitalize off
- 31:45Speaker 3: your name, image and likeness. And for him, that looks
- 31:48Speaker 3: like driving around the Hollywood Hills in a penthouse apartment
- 31:51Speaker 3: with his heisman trophany overlooking, you know, the beautiful West
- 31:54Speaker 3: Coast and driving around and probably a Porsche and whipping
- 31:58Speaker 3: it through the hills and doing whatever you please. So,
- 32:01Speaker 3: you know, to each his own on the lifestyle part.
- 32:03Speaker 3: And I know right now I'm looking around in Arizona
- 32:05Speaker 3: and I'm feeling pretty good about where I'm at and
- 32:07Speaker 3: feeling like I have enough. So hopefully we can keep
- 32:10Speaker 3: continuing to do some stuff on Action Network and we'll
- 32:12Speaker 3: be right the mix forever.
- 32:13Speaker 2: I was gonna say, Kill Williams, does he have a
- 32:15Speaker 2: song called draft Jay who at the very beginning of
- 32:17Speaker 2: the Drake song his name's dropped.
- 32:19Speaker 3: No, we still got the Drake friendship. We still got
- 32:22Speaker 3: good allies out there. Yeah, Draft Day, Johnny Manzil five
- 32:28Speaker 3: years later, how I'm out of mass steel Draft Day.
- 32:32Speaker 3: I think I got more relationships out of my rise
- 32:35Speaker 3: to fame than I did monetary values. But you know,
- 32:38Speaker 3: got paid in the end a little bit here and there,
- 32:40Speaker 3: but you know, the friendships are forever, for sure.
- 32:43Speaker 2: It's funny looking back too. Like you read these I deals,
- 32:46Speaker 2: I think a Texas quarterback. One of their deals is
- 32:48Speaker 2: they get a private jet, and it's like, damn, Johnny
- 32:51Speaker 2: had that before it was even a deal. My man
- 32:53Speaker 2: was already taking the PJA before you had.
- 32:54Speaker 3: Now I'm working on that with A and M. I
- 32:56Speaker 3: need A and M to go ahead and send me
- 32:57Speaker 3: a plane everywhere.

- 34:08Speaker 1: Kyle Brandt from NFL Network had this great segment that
- 34:12Speaker 1: he did on Good Morning Football where early in the process,
- 34:16Speaker 1: or maybe it was sometime, you know, at the end
- 34:18Speaker 1: of last season, people were asking questions about Caleb Williams'
- 34:25Speaker 1: character and it turned out it was all bullshit, and
- 34:29Speaker 1: you know, he's everything that everyone thought he was going
- 34:31Speaker 1: to be, at least from the reports right. And his
- 34:35Speaker 1: comment was, are you kidding me that you're a Heisman
- 34:40Speaker 1: Trophy winning quarterback in oh you know what it was.
- 34:44Speaker 1: It was people were criticizing him because he painted his
- 34:48Speaker 1: fingernails pink, and Kyle Brant was like, are you kidding me?
- 34:54Speaker 1: You're a Heisman Trophy winning quarterback in la in one
- 34:59Speaker 1: of the most cities in the world. You're one of
- 35:01Speaker 1: the most recognizable athletes in the city. You are in
- 35:05Speaker 1: the nil era and the people the thing people are
- 35:09Speaker 1: going after you for.
- 35:11Speaker 3: It's a joke.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Is your pinion is a joke.
- 35:14Speaker 3: It's an absolute joke. The fact that fans and people
- 35:18Speaker 3: and pundits think that they can come into somebody's life
- 35:21Speaker 3: like that and dictate how they're going to live or
- 35:24Speaker 3: what they want them to be is asanate, like in
- 35:27Speaker 3: every sense of the word. Like, let the kid, who
- 35:30Speaker 3: is genuinely a twenty two to twenty three year old kid,
- 35:34Speaker 3: enjoy his life. He's the guy in the mix, going
- 35:37Speaker 3: to be the number one pick, going to be a
- 35:40Speaker 3: future you know, star in the NFL. Like if he
- 35:44Speaker 3: wants to paint his nails, let him paint his fricking nails.
- 35:46Speaker 3: If he wants to do or drive or where whatever
- 35:49Speaker 3: he wants to do, that's his right and his obligation
- 35:51Speaker 3: to be able to do that. So, you know, people
- 35:54Speaker 3: are just mad, People are just jealous, and people will
- 35:57Speaker 3: point out any single thing they can to try and
- 36:01Speaker 3: bring you down. And that's what's happening with Kayleb Williams
- 36:03Speaker 3: because if you look at him and you judge him
- 36:05Speaker 3: based on his football characteristics, his running is throwing, is jumping,
- 36:10Speaker 3: his vision, his football IQ, his film you know, id
- 36:15Speaker 3: everything that he's done that you see from my perspective,
- 36:18Speaker 3: it's a joke that they have nothing else to rip
- 36:21Speaker 3: on him about, so they come out of him for
- 36:22Speaker 3: his fingers nuts.
- 36:25Speaker 1: All right, I got two more questions for you, Simon.
- 36:26Speaker 1: I don't know if you have any other questions right now.
- 36:28Speaker 1: I got two more. One as a Chicago Bears fan,
- 36:34Speaker 1: you said in some of the franchise videos, how will
- 36:38Speaker 1: the How will the Chicago Bears not kill Caleb Williams
- 36:43Speaker 1: as a quarterback prospect? The way they have killed every
- 36:46Speaker 1: other quarterback prospect from Jim McMahon to Kate McNown to
- 36:52Speaker 1: Rex Grossman to Mitch Trubisky. Every single prospect who comes
- 36:58Speaker 1: through that building fails. How do the Bears not?
- 37:03Speaker 3: Mister Bisky is a double joint away from getting to
- 37:07Speaker 3: a really big stage for Chicago quarterbacks, as big as
- 37:10Speaker 3: it comes over time. And like I think right now,
- 37:15Speaker 3: where the Bears are, you have to have trust in
- 37:17Speaker 3: who you put in your head. Coach, who is running
- 37:20Speaker 3: the ship, who's riding the ship? Is it the owners?
- 37:22Speaker 3: Is it this? Whoever's running this ship in Chicago has
- 37:25Speaker 3: to get it right this time. And if they don't
- 37:27Speaker 3: once again, heads will roll and they'll start over and
- 37:30Speaker 3: this continuous like evolution of going nowhere and finishing in
- 37:35Speaker 3: the middle of the pack will continue. So hopefully their
- 37:38Speaker 3: leadership and who they have there will mold Caleb Williams
- 37:41Speaker 3: into the quarterback that he needs to be, and that
- 37:43Speaker 3: comes with making sure their discipline, staying on top of them,
- 37:46Speaker 3: making sure he's growing and progressing as a You know,
- 37:48Speaker 3: this is a thirty million dollar investment we're talking about here.
- 37:51Speaker 3: You know, this isn't a five million dollar free agent
- 37:54Speaker 3: guy you bring in on a flyer. This is five
- 37:56Speaker 3: years and thirty million, and you know, at least bare
- 38:00Speaker 3: minimum three years of your time with a lot of
- 38:03Speaker 3: capital and a lot of you know, trading Justin Fields
- 38:06Speaker 3: to get him out of there, like now, here's your
- 38:09Speaker 3: next guy, and it better be the guy because a
- 38:11Speaker 3: lot has rode on this decision. Justin Fields people were
- 38:15Speaker 3: still very on the fence about and I think they
- 38:18Speaker 3: still are about who he is as a quarterback. But
- 38:21Speaker 3: there's a lot of people in Chicago. I bet if
- 38:23Speaker 3: Caleb Williams doesn't work out, they're going to be screaming
- 38:27Speaker 3: and saying a lot of things about Justin Fields. And
- 38:29Speaker 3: what was up with that whole situation. So they made
- 38:31Speaker 3: their decision on that. Now they're going to make their
- 38:33Speaker 3: decision here, and it's about how they groom him and
- 38:35Speaker 3: how they allow him to be his best self. And
- 38:39Speaker 3: if they allow him to be his best self, they'll flourish,
- 38:41Speaker 3: and if they don't, they'll struggle. And you'll see it
- 38:44Speaker 3: through Caleb's body. With Caleb's body language to the first
- 38:47Speaker 3: three or four weeks of the season, you'll know how
- 38:49Speaker 3: things are going in Chicago, just based off how media
- 38:52Speaker 3: reports are.
- 38:54Speaker 1: All Right, brother, before we get out of here, assigmon,
- 38:56Speaker 1: did you want to ask something?
- 38:58Speaker 2: No, just gonna piggyback off what he's talking about. That
- 39:01Speaker 2: just the fact that I, honestly, I just can't see
- 39:05Speaker 2: Williams being a miss like the Bears, not that they're
- 39:08Speaker 2: getting a lay up here, but like they're a bad franchise.
- 39:11Speaker 2: I think we all can agree in many ways. But
- 39:15Speaker 2: what they're great at is they're a great at staying consistent.
- 39:17Speaker 2: They're always consistent, right, no matter what. This team is
- 39:20Speaker 2: never usually the worst team in the league.
- 39:22Speaker 4: Right. It took a miracle for them to even have
- 39:24Speaker 4: the number one pick.
- 39:25Speaker 2: A couple of years ago and he's literally stepping into
- 39:28Speaker 2: a team I believe had seven wins last year Williams.
- 39:31Speaker 2: So just picking back on he said, like, if we're
- 39:34Speaker 2: back here next year, all talking and he broke a
- 39:37Speaker 2: Bears record slash curse a four thousand yards.
- 39:41Speaker 4: As much I want to be shocked by it, I.
- 39:43Speaker 2: Wouldn't be, just because that's the expectations are that high
- 39:47Speaker 2: for Williams. And that's the amount of talent they have
- 39:48Speaker 2: right now. Where if they do get you know, all
- 39:51Speaker 2: Joe alt here in the first round with the tenth pick,
- 39:54Speaker 2: now they have a good offensive line with a guy
- 39:56Speaker 2: they took last year in their first round, it's like
- 39:58Speaker 2: they have two stud receivers. It's all there for Williams here.
- 40:01Speaker 2: So Williams is about to be in the same situation
- 40:03Speaker 2: Trevor Lawrence is in Trevor Lawrence, he is going to
- 40:07Speaker 2: start hearing a ton of noise after this, after especially
- 40:10Speaker 2: going to this upcoming season. So just just the compsolet
- 40:14Speaker 2: Teaham is there where. It's like Andrew Luck most guys
- 40:17Speaker 2: haded him great out of one hundred is a ninety nine.
- 40:20Speaker 2: Most people had Trevor Lawrence great as a ninety eight
- 40:22Speaker 2: ninety nine. Caleb Williams is great at A ninety eight.
- 40:25Speaker 2: So I do agree with the giant saying your fit
- 40:28Speaker 2: is important.
- 40:29Speaker 4: It fit.
- 40:30Speaker 2: What he said earlier will not matter with Caleb. Caleb
- 40:33Speaker 2: can play on all thirty two teams and he should
- 40:35Speaker 2: at some point paying out. He's that gifted. So yeah, Chad,
- 40:39Speaker 2: my thing to you is just you've hit the jackpot, like.
- 40:43Speaker 3: I just can't go down the course.
- 40:45Speaker 4: Yeah, stay the course exactly.
- 40:48Speaker 1: All right. So let me ask you, Simon. You and
- 40:51Speaker 1: I are going to dig deeper on this on Thursday.
- 40:53Speaker 1: So I want to ask Johnny this question. Yeah, give
- 40:56Speaker 1: me your first round quarterbacks taken and the teams that
- 41:03Speaker 1: will take them. Assume there's no more trades. Assume this
- 41:05Speaker 1: is the order. Who's going where? From just from a
- 41:08Speaker 1: quarterback perspective, in the first round.
- 41:10Speaker 3: I think you go Caleb Chicago, and you go Jaden
- 41:13Speaker 3: to Washington. That's the first That's the first two that
- 41:15Speaker 3: go right away. I would really think, based on what
- 41:19Speaker 3: we're hearing things like that, I think Drake May would
- 41:22Speaker 3: end up in Minnesota, and then I could see Panics
- 41:26Speaker 3: going to the Raiders. I could see him going to
- 41:28Speaker 3: New England. And you just kind of look at some
- 41:30Speaker 3: of these places. New England's at three, they do they
- 41:34Speaker 3: stay there. If they think he's going to be there,
- 41:35Speaker 3: they trade back, So you know, I could see him
- 41:39Speaker 3: going there. I don't know what the Giants are going
- 41:41Speaker 3: to do. That's a really big question mark of what's
- 41:43Speaker 3: going on right now. Do they believe and Daniel Jones?
- 41:46Speaker 3: Do they want to try and bring the competition in.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Are they willing to put the sixth pick of the
- 41:51Speaker 3: draft on it? If they do, they better be right
- 41:54Speaker 3: because I know there's fans in New York that are
- 41:55Speaker 3: tired of being mediocre as well. So I would go
- 42:00Speaker 3: Kelob Chicago, Jaden two, Washington, Pennix two. I like him
- 42:04Speaker 3: in New England. I love him in New England. And
- 42:09Speaker 3: then let's go JJ McCarthy and Denver, Drake May and Minnesota.
- 42:14Speaker 3: And I think looking at the tail end of the draft,
- 42:16Speaker 3: you could fit bot Nicks somebody in maybe trading back
- 42:18Speaker 3: up to get a quarterback after picking you know, another
- 42:21Speaker 3: skill player, and I think that could round out you know,
- 42:23Speaker 3: your top five or six, and that's how six quarterbacks
- 42:26Speaker 3: go in the first round. You'll know if one and
- 42:28Speaker 3: two go quarterback it's going to be a quarterback heavy
- 42:30Speaker 3: draft class, and you're going to see a lot of trades.
- 42:32Speaker 3: You're going to see a lot of movement, and you know,
- 42:34Speaker 3: I think some of these teams are content with where
- 42:36Speaker 3: their second round picks are to maybe go get that
- 42:39Speaker 3: offensive linement, maybe go get that receiver, Maybe go get
- 42:41Speaker 3: a Marvin Harrison junior, and then come back in with
- 42:43Speaker 3: another pick and take one of these quarterbacks late in
- 42:46Speaker 3: the first round. Wouldn't surprise me whatsoever.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Johnny Manziel is saying six quarterbacks in the first round
