- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:05Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:08Speaker 1: Kate Torber and coming up on today's show, Steph Clare
- 0:11Speaker 1: Smith's real estate empire up for sale, Gracie Piscopo takes
- 0:15Speaker 1: the stand in her ex-boyfriend's murder trial, and our highs
- 0:19Speaker 1: and lows of the week. But first, after weeks of speculation,
- 0:23Speaker 1: Sky Wheatley chose an Instagram Q & A as the
- 0:25Speaker 1: format to address rumors that she'd broken up with her
- 0:28Speaker 1: baby daddy, Lockie Waugh, Responding to a follower who asked
- 0:31Speaker 1: what was going on between the pair, Sky replied, honestly,
- 0:35Speaker 1: not much to report. We just have a little reset
- 0:37Speaker 1: break from time. It's good. And these comments came after
- 0:40Speaker 1: a lot of speculation because Lockie was staying in his parents'
- 0:43Speaker 1: house and had been posting a few rogue Instagram stories
- 0:46Speaker 1: as well. Yes, the whole sausages and sauna saga. Now,
- 0:50Speaker 1: when I read Sky Wheatley's answer, I just assumed that
- 0:53Speaker 1: they'd had a break like they've had in the past
- 0:55Speaker 1: because She's been very candid about the fact that they
- 0:58Speaker 1: take breaks and then they come back together. However, the
- 1:01Speaker 1: Daily Mail interpreted Sky's answer differently, and they ran with
- 1:05Speaker 1: the headline that Sky and Lockie had separated. Well, I
- 1:08Speaker 1: think they interpreted it how they wanted to, just for clickbait. Yeah,
- 1:11Speaker 1: but it was pretty embarrassing for them because they had
- 1:13Speaker 1: to do this major backflip because they ended up papping
- 1:16Speaker 1: Sky at her activewear pop-up at Pacific Fair. And she
- 1:20Speaker 1: was there with Lockie and they were spotted cuddling and kissing.
- 1:23Speaker 1: So trying to save face, the Daily Mail wrote, Skye
- 1:26Speaker 1: Wheatley has been packing on the PDA with her partner,
- 1:28Speaker 1: Lachlan Ward, just days after announcing their separation. I'm surprised
- 1:32Speaker 1: they didn't try and frame Lachlan as like a very
- 1:34Speaker 1: supportive ex or something. Yeah. Well, did they really think
- 1:38Speaker 1: that Skye was going to announce the end of her
- 1:40Speaker 1: six-year relationship with the father of her two children with
- 1:43Speaker 1: a casual Q & A? Did they even know Skye Wheatley? Like,
- 1:46Speaker 1: she would be putting something out that was bigger than Ben-Hur. Well,
- 1:48Speaker 1: I could even imagine Lockie popping up in some kind
- 1:51Speaker 1: of YouTube tell-all of why they split that ran for
- 1:54Speaker 1: like 40 minutes with absolutely no editing involved.
- 1:57Speaker 2: This house we met, we got engaged, and we got
- 2:00Speaker 2: married in.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Steph Claire Smith and her husband Josh Miller are in
- 2:04Speaker 1: the midst of a selling spree. Two of their multi-million
- 2:07Speaker 1: dollar properties are up for sale just weeks after the
- 2:10Speaker 1: fitness entrepreneur was named on the AFR's Young Rich List.
- 2:14Speaker 1: It's been a big month for Steph Clare Smith. Last week,
- 2:17Speaker 1: she announced that she was pregnant with her second child,
- 2:19Speaker 1: A couple of weeks before that, she revealed she'd been
- 2:21Speaker 1: diagnosed with ADHD. Two weeks before that, she announced she
- 2:25Speaker 1: had a vibrator up her bum, which went everywhere in
- 2:28Speaker 1: the press. So I don't know if that was part
- 2:30Speaker 1: of your rap, Kate. No, that wasn't. But we have
- 2:32Speaker 1: spoken about it a little bit on the podcast. Then
- 2:35Speaker 1: at the start of November, which is what I was
- 2:37Speaker 1: going to say, she was ranked number 97 on the
- 2:40Speaker 1: Australian Financial Review's Young Rich list with a net worth
- 2:43Speaker 1: of $ 42 million. $ 42 million. Now, she's back in the
- 2:47Speaker 1: news again because her husband, Josh, has announced that he's
- 2:49Speaker 1: selling his family's Murray River property. Plus, super sleuths have
- 2:54Speaker 1: uncovered plans that they're also selling their $ 7 million mansion
- 2:58Speaker 1: that they moved into just two years ago. When it
- 3:01Speaker 1: comes to the family property, it's a deliberate advertising campaign
- 3:04Speaker 1: that Josh is heavily involved in. So he's been interviewed
- 3:08Speaker 1: by realestate.com and also the Australian Financial Review about the
- 3:12Speaker 1: listing It reminded me a lot of when Mitch Orville
- 3:15Speaker 1: and Chloe Zepp were selling their house, just how much
- 3:17Speaker 1: publicity this is getting. Yeah, they're very keen to get
- 3:19Speaker 1: the messaging out there. And I was shocked when I
- 3:21Speaker 1: found out that they were selling the property because Steph
- 3:24Speaker 1: has spoken in length about how special it is to her.
- 3:28Speaker 1: It's where she first met Josh. It's where they got
- 3:30Speaker 1: engaged and also got married. And in the interview, Josh said,
- 3:34Speaker 1: it's very sentimental outside of just being a beautiful property.
- 3:37Speaker 1: It holds almost all my memories from being a little
- 3:39Speaker 1: boy growing up riding dirt bikes, And I'm now 33,
- 3:43Speaker 1: so it's had a massive part in my life. Well,
- 3:45Speaker 1: it's funny because originally when Steph started referring to this
- 3:48Speaker 1: family property, I thought it was some regular shack down
- 3:51Speaker 1: at the Murray River, but this is far from that. Oh,
- 3:55Speaker 1: I had a good time looking at the photos and
- 3:57Speaker 1: videos of this property. So it's located on the Victorian
- 4:00Speaker 1: and New South Wales border at Berry, which is around
- 4:03Speaker 1: a three-hour drive from Melbourne, or if you're rich, a
- 4:06Speaker 1: 45-minute chopper ride. And if the chopper access didn't give
- 4:10Speaker 1: it away... The fact this property has a name just
- 4:13Speaker 1: demonstrates how fancy it is. It's called the Clarendon Eye.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Wait a sec. So does it have a chopper pad
- 4:19Speaker 1: where you can land on? Well, it must because they
- 4:21Speaker 1: kept talking about this chopper access. I would love to
- 4:24Speaker 1: run you through some of the features of this property.
- 4:26Speaker 1: So it's a 16 hectare property and has seven bedrooms
- 4:31Speaker 1: and five bathrooms. So the main homestead was built from
- 4:35Speaker 1: two existing dwellings which were shipped to the property to
- 4:38Speaker 1: create one large home. Sorry? Yeah, so one of the
- 4:41Speaker 1: buildings was a weatherboard home and the other was the
- 4:44Speaker 1: former Mornington Art Gallery. Sorry, that is actually crazy. Yeah,
- 4:51Speaker 1: and it also has its own golf course, a 22-metre
- 4:55Speaker 1: swimming pool, spa, tennis court, Olympic built-in trampoline, cinema, Ornamental
- 5:01Speaker 1: turquoise lake, 10-car garage and a machinery shed. It also
- 5:06Speaker 1: has 35 established palm trees. What the fuck? Like this
- 5:10Speaker 1: is an absolute mansion. Can you imagine rocking up to
- 5:14Speaker 1: this and not realising how big it actually is? Like
- 5:16Speaker 1: you've just come along for a stay at Josh's house. Oh,
- 5:19Speaker 1: I would love to stay at the place. So it's
- 5:21Speaker 1: our golf course.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:23Speaker 1: What does Josh's parents do? Well, I did some digging
- 5:26Speaker 1: because I thought the exact same thing. And his dad, Ken,
- 5:30Speaker 1: is the owner of a shop fitting company, which seems
- 5:32Speaker 1: pretty large. They've got 50 employees. Josh actually used to
- 5:35Speaker 1: work for him. But it doesn't seem from the outside
- 5:39Speaker 1: like they've come from a lot of money. So Ken
- 5:41Speaker 1: dropped out of high school, I think in year eight,
- 5:44Speaker 1: and he was just really interested in maintaining golf courses.
- 5:47Speaker 1: So when he bought this property back in 2006, he
- 5:51Speaker 1: started to build his own golf course and it's just
- 5:54Speaker 1: gone from there. But apparently, it's a very high quality
- 5:56Speaker 1: golf course. Not that I know a lot about it. No,
- 5:58Speaker 1: I can't imagine it's some sort of little crappy putting
- 6:01Speaker 1: greenies put in there. No. Now, it has been listed
- 6:04Speaker 1: on realestate.com for $ 8 to $ 8. 8 million. But one thing
- 6:09Speaker 1: that's confused me about this whole thing is who actually
- 6:12Speaker 1: owns the property? Because The Australian Financial Review is reporting
- 6:16Speaker 1: that Josh's dad, Ken, does. And they said that he
- 6:19Speaker 1: purchased it nearly 20 years ago in 2006. However, when
- 6:22Speaker 1: I was doing some digging, according to Domain, it was
- 6:25Speaker 1: last sold in 2017 for just $ 130, 000.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Wow.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Well, it sold for $ 870, 000 back in 2006 when Ken
- 6:35Speaker 1: first purchased it. Well, sometimes if you own a property
- 6:38Speaker 1: and you want to give it to your children or something,
- 6:40Speaker 1: you can sell it for a much reduced price. Maybe
- 6:43Speaker 1: this is what's happened or maybe for business reasons, the
- 6:46Speaker 1: property has been passed on to somebody else. Well, it's
- 6:49Speaker 1: strange because Steph and Josh have been publicly stating that
- 6:52Speaker 1: they own the property. So After their wedding, there was
- 6:55Speaker 1: a lot of interest in the property because it was
- 6:57Speaker 1: the backdrop of this amazing influencer wedding. And Josh took
- 7:01Speaker 1: on the role of leading renovations on the property. He
- 7:04Speaker 1: also advertised it as a property that you could rent
- 7:07Speaker 1: out for corporate events or, I mean, I suppose if
- 7:09Speaker 1: you've got a lot of money, you could also stay
- 7:11Speaker 1: in it. And the couple even did a deal with
- 7:13Speaker 1: a blind company and they were plastered all over their
- 7:16Speaker 1: website as the owners of the property. Let's throw to
- 7:19Speaker 1: a little bit of the video. Hi, I'm Steph. This
- 7:22Speaker 1: is Harvey.
- 7:22Speaker 2: And I'm Josh, and welcome to our home, Clarida Mare.
- 7:26Speaker 2: So we're currently in northern Victoria. We're about 40 minutes
- 7:30Speaker 2: north of Shepparton on the Murray River. Obviously, we're surrounded
- 7:32Speaker 2: by the bush, and we're actually neighbouring the Palmer State Forest.
- 7:35Speaker 2: So it was really important to bring the wow element
- 7:37Speaker 2: of outside inside.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Well, to add further intrigue to this story, as you
- 7:42Speaker 1: mentioned at the start, Kate, Super Sleeves have spotted that
- 7:45Speaker 1: Steph and Josh's Brighton East Mansion is set to be
- 7:48Speaker 1: listed too. So the couple only purchased the resort style
- 7:52Speaker 1: home back in late 2021. And at the time they
- 7:55Speaker 1: paid $ 7 million for the property. So they previously lived
- 7:59Speaker 1: in the area and sold their former home for $ 3. 4
- 8:01Speaker 1: million in June 2021. They made just under a million
- 8:05Speaker 1: dollars from when they bought it in 2019. What's really
- 8:07Speaker 1: fascinating is that Josh has been front and center promoting
- 8:11Speaker 1: the sale of his family property. Yet we haven't heard
- 8:14Speaker 1: Josh or Steph share any news about the sale of
- 8:17Speaker 1: this house. It was Super Sleuths, as we said, that
- 8:19Speaker 1: found this listing by White Fox Real Estate. Now, when
- 8:22Speaker 1: I saw White Fox Real Estate, I was like, is
- 8:24Speaker 1: that even a real real estate company? Is that or
- 8:26Speaker 1: is that something to do with the brand? It's definitely
- 8:28Speaker 1: not related to the clothing brand. White Fox Real Estate
- 8:31Speaker 1: have been around for quite a while. Oh, God, I
- 8:33Speaker 1: have never heard of them. So I had to go
- 8:34Speaker 1: check out their page to make sure it was legit.
- 8:37Speaker 1: And the real estate company and also the real estate agent,
- 8:39Speaker 1: Lana Samuels, shared a photo outside the property with the caption,
- 8:43Speaker 1: The deal, the palms by Plessa Perkins and Inform coming soon.
- 8:47Speaker 1: And they also shared a reel showing off the amazing property. God,
- 8:51Speaker 1: it's nice. Why do you think they're selling both of
- 8:54Speaker 1: the properties? It seems interesting timing to have them go
- 8:56Speaker 1: on the market around the same time. And also just
- 8:59Speaker 1: a week after Steph announced her pregnancy with her second child,
- 9:02Speaker 1: I wonder if they waited because if both of the
- 9:05Speaker 1: properties had gone on the market, people might've thought that
- 9:08Speaker 1: Steph and Josh had broken up, which they clearly haven't. Well,
- 9:10Speaker 1: there was some speculation that they might've broken up around
- 9:13Speaker 1: the time that Steph revealed she had a big announcement
- 9:16Speaker 1: to make on her podcast. I mean, that turned out
- 9:18Speaker 1: to be Steph's ADHD diagnosis and obviously the pair are
- 9:21Speaker 1: very happy together.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Well, that clearly isn't the reason. I think it may
- 9:25Speaker 1: have something to do with Steph's wealth. So as we
- 9:28Speaker 1: touched upon, she was named in the Young Rich List.
- 9:31Speaker 1: She has $ 42 million to her name. That has gone
- 9:34Speaker 1: up a lot since she last featured on it. So
- 9:37Speaker 1: I'm guessing that maybe they're wanting to expand their actual
- 9:40Speaker 1: living quarters in Melbourne rather than living quarters. Like they're
- 9:44Speaker 1: wanting to upgrade from the $ 7 million property. I mean,
- 9:46Speaker 1: it makes sense if they're having another baby. I assume
- 9:49Speaker 1: there would be more than enough space for a second
- 9:51Speaker 1: baby in a $ 7 million property. But why not actually go,
- 9:55Speaker 1: fuck it, we're going to buy a bigger place. We're
- 9:57Speaker 1: doing well. Yeah, maybe the second baby needs its own wing. Maybe.
- 10:01Speaker 1: But the interesting thing is that a lot of the
- 10:03Speaker 1: time when people start selling off properties, it actually indicates
- 10:06Speaker 1: that they're not doing as well financially, which is why
- 10:09Speaker 1: it's so interesting because Steph is doing better than ever. Yeah,
- 10:12Speaker 1: but why not keep the family property that's really sentimental?
- 10:15Speaker 1: So Josh was quoted in the article saying that after
- 10:18Speaker 1: developing the compound into what it is today with his
- 10:21Speaker 1: father and brother, it was time for his family to
- 10:23Speaker 1: move on to another project and pass the private oasis
- 10:26Speaker 1: on to another family. I would be keeping it. Well,
- 10:30Speaker 1: doesn't Steph Claire Smith's family have a property nearby? Yeah,
- 10:33Speaker 1: so that's the interesting thing. The town only has 160
- 10:35Speaker 1: people in it and Steph Claire Smith's family owned a
- 10:38Speaker 1: property there and then Josh's family had one as well.
- 10:41Speaker 1: But do they still have it? Well, I thought they did,
- 10:43Speaker 1: but Steph has been staying more at Josh's family's house because,
- 10:47Speaker 1: I mean, obviously... It's got to go, of course, Olympic-sized pool,
- 10:49Speaker 1: a trampoline, so... Yeah, so I would be too. But
- 10:52Speaker 1: I did notice that the family are celebrating Christmas at
- 10:55Speaker 1: the property this year, so it must be a final farewell.
- 10:58Speaker 1: You follow Gracie Piscopo?
- 10:59Speaker 2: No.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Gracie is one of the great many social media stars
- 11:04Speaker 4: who are wildly popular but to whom normal people are
- 11:06Speaker 4: completely oblivious. The 26-year-old is considered... Tammy Hembra 2.0 because
- 11:12Speaker 4: she has also modelled for the Kardashians.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Perth influencer Gracie Piscopo has taken the stand in the
- 11:19Speaker 1: murder trial of her ex-boyfriend Andre Ribello. Ribello is accused
- 11:23Speaker 1: of murdering his mother to access her life insurance policy
- 11:27Speaker 1: in a bid to alleviate his debt and maintain a
- 11:30Speaker 1: glamorous lifestyle. Ribello denies killing his mother but has admitted
- 11:34Speaker 1: to forging documents in order to obtain the $ 500, 000 life
- 11:36Speaker 1: insurance policy which he took out in her name days
- 11:41Speaker 1: before her death. His defense team claims he took out
- 11:44Speaker 1: the policies at his mom's request. Now, there has been
- 11:47Speaker 1: a lot of speculation over whether Gracie would take the stand.
- 11:51Speaker 1: This week, she appeared as the final witness in the trial.
- 11:54Speaker 1: And we do want to reiterate that Gracie has not
- 11:57Speaker 1: been accused of any wrongdoing. In terms of reporting on
- 12:00Speaker 1: this story, we are being really careful because we only
- 12:03Speaker 1: want to discuss the facts today and not delve into
- 12:06Speaker 1: our own personal opinions and hearsay because This is a
- 12:09Speaker 1: matter that is still in front of the courts and
- 12:11Speaker 1: we don't want to say anything that could prejudice this case. Well,
- 12:14Speaker 1: while Gracie isn't under investigation for any wrongdoing, her name
- 12:17Speaker 1: has been all over this case. Yeah, and it's easy
- 12:19Speaker 1: to see why. She is an influencer with over a
- 12:22Speaker 1: million followers. It adds a lot of intrigue or even
- 12:25Speaker 1: more intrigue to this case. And it was only two
- 12:27Speaker 1: weeks ago that her financial status was under the microscope.
- 12:31Speaker 1: So not only was her salary revealed, but the court
- 12:34Speaker 1: also heard that both she and Andre were living off
- 12:38Speaker 1: borrowed money and applying for Centrelink benefits. So in court proceedings,
- 12:42Speaker 1: it was revealed that Gracie made $ 141, 000 in 2019 alone.
- 12:48Speaker 1: and $ 219, 000 the following year. However, despite her high salary,
- 12:52Speaker 1: it was revealed that she was in debt with multiple
- 12:55Speaker 1: credit cards, personal loans, and afterpay accounts. And a few
- 12:59Speaker 1: months before Colleen's death, Gracie and Andre Ribello both applied
- 13:02Speaker 1: for the early release of their superannuation under the COVID-19
- 13:06Speaker 1: hardship rules. And Gracie also applied for Centrelink JobSeeker payments.
- 13:11Speaker 1: And just to point out, a lot of people did
- 13:12Speaker 1: this during COVID. Yeah, a lot of people were, but
- 13:15Speaker 1: it's quite clear that they were in financial hardship because
- 13:18Speaker 1: around that time, Gracie also made eight loan applications and
- 13:22Speaker 1: multiple credit card applications. Just eight months before Andre was arrested,
- 13:26Speaker 1: he also applied for bankruptcy with just $ 50 cash and
- 13:30Speaker 1: 800 worth of assets to his name. Now, when Gracie
- 13:33Speaker 1: appeared in court, she was questioned about the day of
- 13:36Speaker 1: Colleen's death. So at this time, she and Andre had
- 13:39Speaker 1: been in a relationship for eight years and were living
- 13:42Speaker 1: together with their son. So Gracie told the court it
- 13:45Speaker 1: was just like any regular weekday. She said Andre had
- 13:48Speaker 1: left that morning to run errands, which included dropping off
- 13:51Speaker 1: some clothes at his mum's house for his younger brother. Now,
- 13:54Speaker 1: this is in contrast to what Gracie told the police
- 13:57Speaker 1: in 2020. When interviewed originally, she told them that she
- 14:00Speaker 1: and Andre hadn't left their home on the day of
- 14:03Speaker 1: his mother's death. Prosecutors quizzed Gracie about why her story
- 14:07Speaker 1: had changed and she told them, I didn't think it
- 14:10Speaker 1: was important. And when pushed further by prosecutors, she responded,
- 14:14Speaker 1: it was scary and I just told them what I
- 14:16Speaker 1: knew and what I could remember. Prosecutors then accused Gracie
- 14:20Speaker 1: of trying to protect Andre to which she responded, I'm
- 14:23Speaker 1: telling the truth the best I can. I came to
- 14:25Speaker 1: court because I have been spoken about the entirety of
- 14:28Speaker 1: the trial and I want to have my voice. Everything
- 14:31Speaker 1: I do is for my son. I'm just following my
- 14:34Speaker 1: heart and doing the right thing. Right now, I'm just
- 14:36Speaker 1: telling the truth to help everyone. And I can understand
- 14:39Speaker 1: where she's coming from because her face has been splashed
- 14:42Speaker 1: all over this case, even though she is not the
- 14:44Speaker 1: one on trial. Now, on Monday, the court was shown
- 14:47Speaker 1: phone records which revealed Gracie had tried to call Andre
- 14:50Speaker 1: more than a dozen times between 11.10am and 11.35am on
- 14:52Speaker 1: the morning of his mother's death. She'd also sent him
- 14:57Speaker 1: several text messages asking him to answer the phone and
- 15:01Speaker 1: asking him where he was. So messages range from answer
- 15:04Speaker 1: your fucking phone to where are you? And oh my God,
- 15:07Speaker 1: I swear to God, Andre, do you have a phone?
- 15:10Speaker 1: What is wrong with you? Answer for fuck's sake. I'm
- 15:13Speaker 1: fuming at you. I'm so angry. Now, prosecutors allege that
- 15:17Speaker 1: Andre was in the process of killing his mom while
- 15:20Speaker 1: Gracie was attempting to get a hold of him. This
- 15:23Speaker 1: is something that Andre denies. Now, when asked about these messages,
- 15:26Speaker 1: Gracie explained that she was really frustrated with her boyfriend
- 15:30Speaker 1: at the time because he had a habit of keeping
- 15:32Speaker 1: his phone on silent and she thought he was coming
- 15:35Speaker 1: home to see her cousin. Now, he did end up
- 15:38Speaker 1: getting home around lunchtime while her cousin was still there
- 15:41Speaker 1: and she said there wasn't anything unusual about him and
- 15:44Speaker 1: confirmed he had no injuries. Now, part of the state's
- 15:47Speaker 1: case against Andre Ribello has been attempting to build up
- 15:50Speaker 1: a narrative that he was in debt. and being hounded
- 15:53Speaker 1: by collection agencies. So they are alleging he was desperately
- 15:57Speaker 1: trying to maintain, and I quote, a plastic fantastic lifestyle.
- 16:01Speaker 1: So a lot of questions were aimed at Gracie about
- 16:04Speaker 1: her finances. Now, I found this particularly interesting from an
- 16:08Speaker 1: influencer perspective because normally influencers don't share how much they're earning,
- 16:12Speaker 1: but obviously in this situation, she had to. So she
- 16:15Speaker 1: told the court she could earn up to $ 8, 000 in
- 16:18Speaker 1: Instagram posts through her brand collaborations And as much as
- 16:21Speaker 1: $ 5, 000 for a YouTube video promotion, she also revealed one
- 16:25Speaker 1: of her brand deals earned her $ 80, 000 over 12 months.
- 16:29Speaker 1: It was also revealed in court that Andre Ribello was
- 16:32Speaker 1: working as Gracie's assistant and he was earning around $ 20, 000
- 16:37Speaker 1: and also was a stay-at-home dad. So this is in
- 16:39Speaker 1: stark contrast to the figures that Gracie was earning. Now,
- 16:42Speaker 1: Gracie was also asked about a conversation she allegedly had
- 16:46Speaker 1: with Andre in the week surrounding his mother's death. prosecutors
- 16:50Speaker 1: alleged that Andre told Gracie he was going to get
- 16:52Speaker 1: $ 500, 000 in cryptocurrency. However, Gracie said that she couldn't recall
- 16:57Speaker 1: the conversation. However, when asked if Andre had told her
- 17:01Speaker 1: he was finally going to make a big sum of
- 17:03Speaker 1: money before his mom died, Gracie replied, I guess. Now
- 17:07Speaker 1: this court case is continuing and we will keep you
- 17:10Speaker 1: up to date with any relevant findings that come out.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Now let's get into our highs and lows of the week. Amy,
- 17:15Speaker 1: I'm going to kick things off. My low of the
- 17:18Speaker 1: week is my postpartum hair loss. I thought I had
- 17:21Speaker 1: missed it. I was getting really cocky. I'm like, oh,
- 17:24Speaker 1: it's not going to happen to me. I've always had
- 17:26Speaker 1: thin shit hair. So I was like, maybe I'm in luck.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Maybe my scalp is going to hold onto this extra
- 17:32Speaker 1: thicker hair. It was looking shiny. I'd even been getting
- 17:35Speaker 1: compliments about it, which is very unusual for my hair.
- 17:38Speaker 2: No, no.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Literally at the four and a half month mark, it
- 17:42Speaker 1: started dropping out. So how does it come out? Is
- 17:43Speaker 1: it just like when you brush your hair, just heaps
- 17:45Speaker 1: of extra hairs come out or does it actually just
- 17:47Speaker 1: like fall out? So what happens is you suddenly start
- 17:50Speaker 1: noticing a lot more hair coming out in the shower.
- 17:54Speaker 1: And then, so before when I was pregnant and postpartum
- 17:57Speaker 1: for up to that four month period, I'd put a
- 17:59Speaker 1: hair tie on my hair and no hair would come off.
- 18:01Speaker 1: And literally there was so much hair attached to my
- 18:04Speaker 1: hair ties. I've got them hanging in the shower. They
- 18:06Speaker 1: look so disgusting. our drains are starting to get blocked up.
- 18:09Speaker 1: And it just comes out and like, and I'm like,
- 18:12Speaker 1: I am going to be bald. I will have no
- 18:14Speaker 1: hair left. So I think I'm actually going to have
- 18:16Speaker 1: to get the mom bob. And I've always judged people
- 18:19Speaker 1: for doing that. I'm like, why would you cut your
- 18:21Speaker 1: beautiful hair off? But now I get it. Don't cut
- 18:23Speaker 1: it because I can't stand the whinging associated with it.
- 18:26Speaker 1: I think just hold on. Like that's going to pass
- 18:29Speaker 1: your hair. But what's the point? It will come back. Yeah,
- 18:31Speaker 1: it will come back. It's going to, it's taken me
- 18:32Speaker 1: years to grow it to this length. I'd leave it
- 18:35Speaker 1: if I were you. Now I'll get into my high
- 18:37Speaker 1: of the week and it's quite a sad one because
- 18:39Speaker 1: yesterday I was having a bit of a tough day.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Rhys was at work. He was working late. So I'd
- 18:43Speaker 1: been home with Jack all day and night by myself.
- 18:46Speaker 1: And it was a really challenging day. Jack did not
- 18:48Speaker 1: want to go to sleep. He's just started working out
- 18:51Speaker 1: how to roll and he's been waking himself up. So
- 18:54Speaker 1: It was around eight o'clock and I couldn't get him
- 18:56Speaker 1: to go to sleep. And it took about 40 minutes.
- 18:58Speaker 1: And when I finally did, I came out and the
- 19:00Speaker 1: dinner I'd put in the oven, which was baked potatoes,
- 19:03Speaker 1: they'd burnt. They were actually absolutely a crisp. And I
- 19:06Speaker 1: actually felt like crying. Then you text me saying that
- 19:09Speaker 1: Sarah's day's birth vlog has come out. And I was like,
- 19:11Speaker 1: my day has just turned around completely. So I scraped
- 19:14Speaker 1: off the burnt potatoes, ate them in front of the
- 19:17Speaker 1: vlog and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a very
- 19:19Speaker 1: good vlog, wasn't it? I mean, Sarah's day, she does deliver,
- 19:23Speaker 1: especially when it comes to a birth log. And it
- 19:25Speaker 1: was quite different to her other birth logs because she
- 19:28Speaker 1: spent a lot of her time laboring at home as
- 19:30Speaker 1: opposed to at the hospital. My mom was asking me, oh,
- 19:33Speaker 1: should I watch it? And I said, well, 90% of
- 19:35Speaker 1: it is actually just her screaming out in pain. Like
- 19:38Speaker 1: it was the biggest advertisement to have a cesarean in
- 19:40Speaker 1: my mind. We are going to dive a little bit
- 19:43Speaker 1: deeper into that in the subs episode, a bit more
- 19:46Speaker 1: of an unfiltered space where we can share what we
- 19:48Speaker 1: really thought about it.
- 19:49Speaker 3: It was good.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I enjoyed it though. I enjoyed it. Yeah. What about you, Amy?
- 19:53Speaker 1: What is your high for the week? Well, my high
- 19:55Speaker 1: of the week was the social media coverage that has
- 19:58Speaker 1: followed the Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight. I mean, admittedly,
- 20:02Speaker 1: I didn't actually watch the fight on Netflix, but I
- 20:05Speaker 1: have watched the lead up episodes to it. And Mike
- 20:08Speaker 1: Tyson is fucking hilarious, whether he means to be or
- 20:12Speaker 1: doesn't mean to be like, there's been so many clips
- 20:14Speaker 1: of him that have gone viral. And my favorite one
- 20:17Speaker 1: so far was a young child who interviewed Mike in
- 20:21Speaker 1: the lead up to the fight. Let's throw to the clip.
- 20:24Speaker 5: In your return to the ring for this fight, you
- 20:27Speaker 5: are setting a monumental opportunity for kids my age to
- 20:29Speaker 5: see the legend Mike Tyson in the ring for the
- 20:33Speaker 5: first time. So after such a successful career, what type
- 20:35Speaker 5: of legacy would you like to leave behind when it's
- 20:38Speaker 5: all said and done?
- 20:39Speaker 3: Well, I don't know. I don't believe in the word legacy.
- 20:41Speaker 3: I think that's another word for ego. Legacy doesn't mean nothing.
- 20:45Speaker 3: That's just some word everybody grabbed onto. Someone said that
- 20:49Speaker 3: word and everyone grabbed onto the word, so now it's
- 20:51Speaker 3: used every five seconds. It means absolutely nothing to me.
- 20:54Speaker 3: I'm just passing through. I'm going to die, and it's
- 20:56Speaker 3: going to be over. Who cares about a legacy after that?
- 21:01Speaker 3: What a big ego. So I'm going to die. I
- 21:03Speaker 3: want people to think that I'm this. I'm great. No,
- 21:05Speaker 3: we're nothing. We're just dead. We're dust. We're absolutely nothing.
- 21:11Speaker 3: Our legacy is nothing.
- 21:13Speaker 5: Well, thank you so much for sharing that. That is
- 21:15Speaker 5: something that I have not heard before someone say that
- 21:18Speaker 5: as an answer.
- 21:19Speaker 3: Can you really imagine somebody saying, I want my legacy
- 21:21Speaker 3: to be this way? You're dead.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Why do you want to play?
- 21:25Speaker 3: Do you think somebody really wants to think about you?
- 21:28Speaker 3: What's the adaption? I want people to think about me
- 21:31Speaker 3: when I'm gone. Who the fuck cares about me when
- 21:33Speaker 3: I'm gone? My kids, maybe. My grandkids.
- 21:36Speaker 4: Who the fuck cares?
- 21:40Speaker 1: She actually recovered so well because you stopped at Kate.
- 21:43Speaker 1: She goes on to say like, oh, thank you. I've
- 21:45Speaker 1: actually never really thought of that before, but thank you
- 21:47Speaker 1: so much for sharing that with us. That reminds me.
- 21:50Speaker 1: When I was working at the 36ers, we always used
- 21:52Speaker 1: to get these kid journalists wanting to interview players. That
- 21:55Speaker 1: is absolutely hilarious because normally you would just play along and, oh, hi,
- 22:00Speaker 1: little kid. But, oh, that is so funny. I've actually
- 22:02Speaker 1: got tears in my eyes. It actually reminds me a
- 22:04Speaker 1: little bit of when I was working at Seven. We
- 22:06Speaker 1: went out to interview this poor lady who'd lost her
- 22:09Speaker 1: house It had burnt down overnight. And she said in
- 22:13Speaker 1: this grab, she goes, it was just burnt to a crisp.
- 22:16Speaker 1: And it was so terrible because I included that grab
- 22:19Speaker 1: in the story. And while it was not funny that
- 22:21Speaker 1: her house burnt down, sometimes you have to make light
- 22:24Speaker 1: of things in those negative situations. And this editor and
- 22:26Speaker 1: I were in the booth and he kept playing that
- 22:28Speaker 1: same grab over and over and over again. And we
- 22:32Speaker 1: were just absolutely cracking it. Just the evil media overload.
- 22:36Speaker 1: What is your low of the week? My low of
- 22:39Speaker 1: the week is that over the weekend I made an
- 22:42Speaker 1: impulse purchase of a whole load of Christmas lights for
- 22:46Speaker 1: the house. Why is that your low? I'm getting to it, Kate.
- 22:48Speaker 1: My low is that they haven't arrived and they said
- 22:50Speaker 1: they were going to arrive within three days. I want
- 22:53Speaker 1: the Christmas lights up on the house now. Like I
- 22:55Speaker 1: know it's only November, but it seems like everyone is
- 22:58Speaker 1: celebrating earlier and earlier this year. And I'm getting freaked
- 23:01Speaker 1: out that all my decorations aren't up yet. But when
- 23:03Speaker 1: I arrived, there were three little reindeers in the hallway.
- 23:06Speaker 1: That is just one of the packages that's arrived. Oh,
- 23:08Speaker 1: so only ones arrived, but not the main ones. So
- 23:10Speaker 1: the one I really want to arrive is I've got
- 23:13Speaker 1: this Santa who he's on a sleigh and there's I
- 23:16Speaker 1: think there's four reindeers and he looks like he's sort
- 23:17Speaker 1: of like whipping them along. I see them everywhere around
- 23:20Speaker 1: in all of the fancy neighbourhoods, so I decided I'm
- 23:23Speaker 1: going to bring a bit of class to my neighbourhood
- 23:25Speaker 1: and have one of these up on the house. I'm
- 23:26Speaker 1: so jealous. I really want one of those, but I'm
- 23:28Speaker 1: trying to be good this year and not buy too
- 23:30Speaker 1: many Christmas decorations. They were on sale as part of
- 23:33Speaker 1: the Black Friday sale, so that was my excuse for
- 23:35Speaker 1: purchasing them. Yeah, I've invested too much money into Jack's
- 23:38Speaker 1: December 1st box. Well, I keep blaming Jack as well.
- 23:40Speaker 1: I'm like, Dale, I think Jack would like to see
- 23:42Speaker 1: the house all lit up for Christmas.
- 23:44Speaker 4: He would.
- 23:44Speaker 1: He very much would.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Okay.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Well, I think that's all we've got time for today.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Thanks for listening to another episode of Outspoken. If you
- 23:51Speaker 1: do enjoy the show, we really would appreciate if you
- 23:53Speaker 1: can leave us a review. This podcast was recorded on
- 23:56Speaker 1: the traditional land of the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains.
- 23:59Speaker 1: We pay respect to elders past and present.
