- 0:37Brothers, sisters, all our aftermath of listeners, wherever
- 0:42you're watching in this theater or at a later dates, wherever
- 0:46you are being driving in the car, running on the treadmill,
- 0:49in the gym on your way to your Husseinia for a local medulist,
- 0:52Salaam Alaikum or Ahmed Allahi, before we, I think speak to his
- 1:01ambulance, I want to say something to you.
- 1:04Why are you Shia? Oh my God, what a statement.
- 1:07I didn't know this was coming. Why am I here?
- 1:13I think the easy answer for many of us is in all honesty, we were
- 1:17born into this. I think the true answer for many
- 1:21of us is. When do we get a Head Start
- 1:22agenda? Head Start agenda, when we, when
- 1:25we became, I think, old enough to critically analyze to, to
- 1:29rationalize for ourselves, we realized that there is nothing
- 1:33greater, nothing sweeter than the win I of Amir Mahmanin.
- 1:37And I think how that belief system that we hold so close to
- 1:46our hearts means so much to us and it completes us.
- 1:50And in Charlotte, we aspire to be great and worthy of that
- 1:52title in itself. Charlotte, I sent.
- 1:54I love that answer. And if I can share a moment or
- 1:57two of why, how I chose this topic in particular, which is
- 2:00Shia identity, saying there is that in my young, young age,
- 2:05when I was in secondary school, I had a lot of friends who were
- 2:08Muslim, but they were not Shia. They had so much misconceptions
- 2:11about me. They had so much questions about
- 2:13what I get up to in the First India, for example.
- 2:16And you know, what is the turbo? And you know, what is this?
- 2:19What's all the Ziara? And when I joined after Muslim,
- 2:22I realized that there's a community out there who are
- 2:26Shia, but they're not proud Shia, not because they're not
- 2:32satisfied with who Emir Abnormalian is, for example, or
- 2:35the Bilaba, rather because they feel they're judged.
- 2:39They feel at times they get bullied, they feel at times, you
- 2:43know, the world is coming against them.
- 2:46Especially reverse coming to Shia Islam.
- 2:49It's like everyone attacks you for being Shia.
- 2:53Now this is something we're going to get to in Charlotte
- 2:55during the discussion. And before we begin the
- 2:58discussion, let me share something with everyone.
- 3:01There was a 99% chance of Sayed Jawad not being here today,
- 3:06while Hamdullah Allah Soprano Atallah has allowed us the
- 3:09opportunity to host them here and have the pleasure of being
- 3:12beside them. And inshallah we're going to
- 3:13learn so much gems, words of wisdom and knowledge during the
- 3:17next, I think 50 minutes or so, if I'm not mistaken by saying
- 3:21that what happened, the reason why I say what happened about
- 3:28eight hours ago, I got a message.
- 3:30They're calling me at the boarding gates.
- 3:32I must have saying is everything OK?
- 3:33I didn't hear anything. I told you landed in London.
- 3:36So. Mothers and sisters, it is an
- 3:46absolute delight for me to be here with you and I would like
- 3:51to sincerely thank the aftermath of podcast for inviting me and
- 3:55giving me the opportunity to spend a few minutes and moments
- 3:59with you. May Allah bless you all and I
- 4:02would like to congratulate you for coming out in such numbers
- 4:07to endorse the cause of Emir Al Mutmani in Salawat Allahil
- 4:10Salaam on the Greatest Day. While Allah Subhanahu Watahallah
- 4:22completed His blessings upon humanity, Allah Subhanahu Ta'ala
- 4:29began his enlightenment of humankind with Adam al Assalam,
- 4:41Allah Adam al Asma Kulaha. And that journey continued to
- 4:47perfect itself until the day that Rasool Allah, the seal of
- 4:53the Messengers, the beloved of Allah, received this final
- 4:58revelation. Yeah, Ayohar Rasul baller,
- 5:04Mahonzila, Ilaikam and Arabic. What in them to fall?
- 5:13First and foremost, we have to understand who Rasul Allah is.
- 5:19There are two camps in Islam, brothers and sisters.
- 5:22One that tells you this prophet, when he received the very first
- 5:26revelation, he was confused, he was scared.
- 5:31He went running to his home and he tells his wife, I don't know
- 5:35what happened. I saw this celestial body
- 5:41telling me to read and I don't know how to read.
- 5:45So I was scared, I was confused and it kept repeating and he was
- 5:51shivering, he was shaking, he was confused.
- 5:54So his wife tells him, let me consult my cousin.
- 5:57His cousin was a Christian man. Her cousin was a Christian man
- 6:02by the name of Waraka bin Nofel. So she goes and she speaks to
- 6:07Waraka bin Nofel and Waraka says no, he is a prophet, he is the
- 6:12last messenger of God. And then there is another
- 6:16narrative, the narrative that says also Allah sallallahu
- 6:22alaihiwah alaihiwasallam was the very first creation of Allah.
- 6:28And when Rasool Allah sallallahu alaihiwah alaihiwasallam did
- 6:31Tasbi, Allah created the rest of existence.
- 6:36He existed as the very first creation of Allah Subhanahu
- 6:42Uttahallah and Allah decorated his throne with the light of
- 6:49Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
- 6:52So Rasul Allah was very familiar with who Jabrail was, the
- 6:55Malaika and when the the Angel Archangel Jabrail came to Rasul
- 7:02Allah, Rasul Allah was at the state of confidence when he
- 7:06received Jabrail Akala. The smell of bikelady hallak.
- 7:13Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi alaihi wasallam then went on the
- 7:19journey. Emil and Munin al Mohdin
- 7:23Aliyubna Abiyab was the very first person to attest and
- 7:28witness to the beginning of the journey of prophethood of Rasool
- 7:33Allah and his wife Khadija. As soon as he arrived home was
- 7:37the second Muslim. Imagine brothers and sisters for
- 7:40for one minute how crooked and corrupt this concept is that if
- 7:47I am confused, if I am scared, where am I supposed to go?
- 7:53I am supposed to go to the final messenger of God, Nabi or Rahma.
- 7:59There I seek comfort there. If I am confused, I receive
- 8:03enlightenment. Now how is Rasulullah himself
- 8:08going to be seeking refuge to another person as grand I say
- 8:14the Khadija was therefore Allah subhanahu ET Allah said I
- 8:20perfect my faith and and my name with the willai of Amir al
- 8:26Muhammad Aliyom Akmal tullahkum Dina what atman to alaikum
- 8:31nemati warabi tullahkum UL Islam Dina and this Islam I accept
- 8:37from you. Then Rasulullah sallallahu
- 8:40alaihi aliyu sallam said the following statement.
- 8:42As you all know the statement Allahu Aalimanwala or Adiman ada
- 8:47one soman Nasala and aid those who aid his cause, assist them,
- 8:55enlighten them. So by you coming to endorse the
- 8:59Willaya of Amir al Mukhmini, the cause of Amir al Mukhmani
- 9:01Rasulullahs are with you. What's a beautiful, you know, I
- 9:17think introduction to this episode and I love how you're
- 9:20referenced by the way, Archangel Jubra with Rasul Allah and just
- 9:24for for those who haven't come across Hadith al Kasar, you can
- 9:27see that relationship of Jubra al with Rasul Allah, Muhammad
- 9:30sallallahu alaihi wasallam. So do check it out.
- 9:32For those who don't know what Hadith al Kasar is, it will be a
- 9:35Shia crime. If you haven't understood that,
- 9:37say it. There's one question I have that
- 9:41I've been forced to ask and inshallah, this is like they
- 9:45call it ice breaker, but this is it's going to tell us where your
- 9:48heart aligns should you ever God forbid you know at the end of
- 9:54the day, we all die and it's good to speak about when we pass
- 9:57away. Inshallah, should you ever die,
- 9:59may Allah for long your long life.
- 10:01If you had to choose between the land of Amir Al Mukhmanin, Najaq
- 10:06Aleshar, or you had to choose between the land of ABBA
- 10:09Abdullah and Hussein Karbala and what they say, all of these two
- 10:12places, where say Udna, would you love to be buried?
- 10:17Where'd you come up with these it?
- 10:18Was sent to me. It's difficult.
- 10:27It's difficult, I know. It's not difficult.
- 10:29It's very emotional. You know, there is something
- 10:43about Ahmad Hussein. This is This was so unexpected.
- 10:51This is the whole point. I'll try to be brief, though I
- 10:56can't speak about Karbala. I'll be brief, but I'll try to
- 10:59be brief. Imagine a land where there is
- 11:04always traffic between the Arshav Allahs of Hana Ho Wata
- 11:09Allah and the grave of say the Shahada Al Imam al Hussain Ali
- 11:14Hassalah to asylum. And here is the punchline.
- 11:19Here is where everything becomes very crystal clear.
- 11:24Maman Nabi and morsel, every prophet, every messenger, voila
- 11:31Melekun Mukharab and every Angel, every Archangel wala
- 11:35Sadiq wala Shaheed, all those individuals that enjoy a high
- 11:39rank and status. With the loss.
- 11:42Of hanawata Allah was then Allah Physiology Hussein.
- 11:48They all want to ascend, to visit the shrine of Imam Al
- 11:52Hussein, the grave of Imam al Hussein.
- 11:55And we have many traditions that are valid, that are at the
- 12:00highest level of validity, that speak of the fact that Karbala
- 12:07is different than the rest of the world.
- 12:09The soil of Karbala and if Imam Hussein Salah Alayhi was Salaam
- 12:15Alayhi bestows this mercy and kindness and grace upon me, I
- 12:26would love to spend my life and my hereafter and every moment.
- 12:32What about Abdullah Hussain, Salah Salah?
- 12:41Shallah that wishes Ron to say that Inshallah whenever the
- 12:45deprived is the art of Abdullah or the Shabbat Abdullah
- 12:50hereafter and say that Inshallah.
- 12:52If you allow me to begin, there is one thing I want to ask.
- 12:57There are a few points and we want to make the most of today's
- 13:00discussion. So which we're going to make it
- 13:01more like a question based conversation saying that.
- 13:05And the question is, who are we when we say Shia?
- 13:09What is meant by this term? Is there any clear historical
- 13:13roots of Shia Islam at the time of the Prophet's life,
- 13:17Sallallahu alayhiwali wasallam? Or are we just simply, you know,
- 13:20a group of people who just follow Imam Ali Ali Salam?
- 13:23Do we have a foundation? So let me let me give a little
- 13:28intro to this and then I will give you some historical facts.
- 13:32After the Battle of Ahad, you all know that it was a very,
- 13:35very decisive battle. It was probably the most
- 13:38difficult days of the lifetime of Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi
- 13:43wasallam 1 because they all decided after being defeated and
- 13:52better that they're going to unite.
- 13:54We simply cannot defeat Muhammad if we're not united.
- 13:57So the mushrikeen and the non-Muslims at the time,
- 14:00specifically the Jews, they trained, they, they, they
- 14:06developed their their army for a very long time and they came
- 14:11after Rasulullah. But the problem was, and this is
- 14:15mentioned and it's embedded in all the books of Islamic
- 14:18history, that the Munaf. 15 or the ones.
- 14:21Telling the Mushrakin of the decisions made by the Muslims
- 14:24and this makes you, this puts you in a very vulnerable
- 14:27situation. But look at the genius of
- 14:30Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi. This is something that a lot of
- 14:34people will not cover when they're talking about the Battle
- 14:36of Uhud and the battle of Ohad Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihiwali
- 14:41Wasallam was injured. His uncle said Shahada Hamza
- 14:44fell as a martyr and there was a call that Muhammad al Padmat.
- 14:51Now this obviously we have a narration, a specific narration
- 14:57that says Shaitaan said this, but.
- 15:03Shaitaan could either take the form of human being or some.
- 15:08Some human beings are also referred to as Shaitaan
- 15:11Shaitaan. So regardless, there was a call.
- 15:14There was a very prominent idea that went around.
- 15:22Saying that Muhammad Sallallahu alaihi wasallam has died.
- 15:27And some people, obviously, as you know, they left, they, they
- 15:30not only left the battlefield, but they joined the other side.
- 15:34This is mentioned in history. I, you know, it's, it's, it's
- 15:38something that we cannot deny. And things got tough.
- 15:42Rasulullah was in a very, very tough situation.
- 15:44They they really tried to kill Rasulullah and they got very
- 15:47close. You all know.
- 15:49This, however, after the battle ended.
- 15:53This is what a lot of people will not.
- 15:55Mention or cover Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi alayhi
- 15:59Wasallam said Whoever is in this battle, do not leave.
- 16:02Stay here. When they return inside the
- 16:05Medina, Those who had also. Ran away and those who were
- 16:09hiding and those who said well we we couldn't fight, they all
- 16:13arrived. Rasulullah Sallallahu alayhi
- 16:15Wasallam said whoever has a wound come.
- 16:18Forward. If you're in a battlefield and
- 16:22you don't have a wound, what are you doing at the battlefield?
- 16:24Something's wrong. There's something wrong and
- 16:28there were some people. There was no wounds.
- 16:30There was no dust on him. Big names.
- 16:34Not even dust. Not even.
- 16:37A ripped shirt and On the contrary, Amir Al Mahmineen had
- 16:43not an inch of real estate on his body that was not injured.
- 16:49Hundreds of strikes. Amir Al Mumminin was completely
- 16:53wounded head to toe, bleeding him and a group of followers
- 17:01that defended Rasulullah. If you are a Muslim today, you
- 17:04are. Indebted to them.
- 17:06If you are saying a shadow Anna Muhammad al Rasulullah and
- 17:09you're Adhan today, you do not have a choice but to be indebted
- 17:14to them. Those individuals, Amir Al
- 17:17Mumminin was one of them, the commander of the faithful and
- 17:20those who surrounded them. If you look at their
- 17:23biographies, if you look at their names, they are known as.
- 17:27Shia to Aliyan. If you ask me who are the Shia,
- 17:37I tell you those are the Shia, the people who are always.
- 17:40Wounded and they're not afraid and they will not run away and
- 17:45they will stand in defense of Islam from that moment and prior
- 17:50to that and until we could sort back to your question,
- 17:57Rasulullah Salallahu Alehu aleo Salaam in chapter 98, if you go
- 18:00and look at the tafsir of chapter 98, Surat al Bayena,
- 18:06Surat al Bayena chapter 98, this is mentioned in ciote, it's
- 18:12mentioned in Dahabi, it's mentioned in the.
- 18:13Most popular and major Tafasir that Rasoolallah Sallallahu
- 18:18alayhi alayhi wasallam, when he referring to Khairul Bariya, the
- 18:22best of people, he said so Imam Amir al not mean Imam Ali.
- 18:26He said they that you're their leader is you yourself.
- 18:30Yeah, Ali and they are your followers.
- 18:33Khairul Bariya are your followers.
- 18:34This is mentioned in the books of Tafsir Al Rasoolallah
- 18:39Sallallahu alayhi Alayhi Wasallam has the very famous
- 18:42tradition that says yeah Ali on the day of judgment you will
- 18:46come and you are wearing a crown mohadjalin and your followers
- 18:54will also be known as your Shia on the day of judgement.
- 18:56So Shia to Ali in this terminology was used by
- 19:01Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam referencing the most
- 19:04elite of his companions. Not just here, you take it to
- 19:07gender. Absolutely, Absolutely.
- 19:10The the only reason why we are Shia is because we want to be
- 19:14with Amir Al Mahmanin and Jen because we want his
- 19:16companionship in Jen. So do you think that term has
- 19:20now somewhat of a different definition today when we say
- 19:23Shia of Amir al Mahmanin, of course, to to different people,
- 19:26it means different things to us. It's it's a badge of honor that
- 19:30we carry with us in our day-to-day lives.
- 19:32It embodies how we interact with the Alia Quran, how we do dhikr
- 19:35and we worship our last panel to Allah, how we interact with our
- 19:38families, our friends and how we respond to our communities in
- 19:41times of crisis and need as well.
- 19:43But to others, that title Shia is, is, is.
- 19:48It's a loaded term, sometimes politicized term, and to some
- 19:53it's maybe taboo to be able to say, to go out with pride and
- 19:56honour and say, no, I'm Shia. This is what who I am.
- 19:59Is it, I'm going to be honest with you, is it sectarian to
- 20:03some degree to say I'm a Shia and that's my, is it the first
- 20:07thing I define myself as? It's a badge of honor indeed.
- 20:14And I want to, and I want to talk about this.
- 20:18I want to say that we are able to call ourselves Shia aiming to
- 20:27be complete Shia. We call ourselves we, we
- 20:33associate ourselves with this title and hope that we become
- 20:37complete Shia. So in order for me to be proud
- 20:42Shia, I need to know who. Who?
- 20:43Who the Shia are? I spoke about the companions of
- 20:46Rasulullah, Sallallahu Alaihi, wasallam, the most elite of his
- 20:49companions. But let me give you an example
- 20:53of who was a Shia. One of them, one of the Shia is
- 20:58Sayedinah. He's not a prophet, but he was
- 21:03the teacher of a prophet. Who was Musa, Alaiah, Salaam.
- 21:07And you all know the story of Heather.
- 21:09I'm not going to engage in the story of Heather.
- 21:12Heather, there is a rewire. In Khatab at Kafi al Sharif,
- 21:16where he gives the eulogy of Ameer al Motminian, go and read
- 21:23the eulogy of Heather for Ameer al Motminian.
- 21:27Because when he showed up and Ameer al Motminian was put in
- 21:29his grave and he gave this prolonged eulogy, He understands
- 21:39Amir al Mukmani. He understands the status of
- 21:41Amir al Mukmani. And amongst the very bold lines
- 21:51that he uses is that, yeah, Abel Hassan kunte La La ya hodoka
- 22:00fellahi lauma tulaem. You would not sit and wait.
- 22:06For people to praise you or endorse you or validify what
- 22:09you're doing. You didn't care about what the
- 22:12people thought. All you cared about is what a
- 22:15loss of hana wata Allah wants from you.
- 22:17This is Qadr Qadr. How is he referred to in the
- 22:21holy Quran? Abd abdelman ibadina.
- 22:25He is an Abdul Allah Subhanahu wata Allah.
- 22:29If you are a Shia, your. Path to being a complete Shia is
- 22:36to be up to Allah, subhanahu to Allah.
- 22:39That's the only way to obey Allah, to stay away from that
- 22:46which Allah, Subhanahu to Allah wants us to stay away from the
- 22:50second Shia. There are many Shia, high level
- 22:54high-ranking Shia of Emir al Mahmineen and his children.
- 22:58Say it in our Mulana Tamara Benny Hashem Abal Fahdal Abbas.
- 23:04For the love of Abal Fahdal Abbas, recite the Salawat Salaam
- 23:14Alaik al Abdul Salah. You have to be AB to be.
- 23:30Those those are the qualities and the characteristics of being
- 23:38a Shia now has joined this elite club and Abel Fabel Abbas has
- 23:43joined this elite club. I call myself Shia, hoping that
- 23:48I also through their shafa. Am able to continue this journey
- 23:54so being a Shia is something that is the greatest honor.
- 23:59Now we know that Rasul Allah used the term Shia so it is
- 24:04something that Rasul Allah wants He wishes for this to continue
- 24:08for this line to continue and I'll tell you brother Ahmed Shia
- 24:15does not mean that we go after others and we disrespect them.
- 24:22I I have not seen that in the methodology of our scholars and
- 24:28prior to that our but Shia also does not mean that we compromise
- 24:35our identity. No, you keep your identity and
- 24:40you let people. Understand that this started in
- 24:43the time of Rasulullah, endorsed by Rasulullah.
- 24:45Those are the Shia. So that people can find the way
- 24:50to Allah Subhanahu Watahallah. And that way is only described
- 24:54through any muhalifu mutapalen kitaballah.
- 25:00What's rati albeti ma? Entomasectom beema lentaba luba
- 25:06diabada. Meaning if you don't take them
- 25:08together you will go astray. That is what Rasulullah Salam.
- 25:13Is teaching this community. So beautiful.
- 25:15I sent him. I sent him saying that I, I want
- 25:18to come back to a point you mentioned, you know, you spoke
- 25:20about however, and we spoke about Abuf al Abbas reaching
- 25:23those high status and we read, for example, because Karbala, we
- 25:27visit and come across all these lines that you've referenced
- 25:32being Shia Muslims. How can one attain such a status
- 25:38and asked us why? Because you know, Hamdullah
- 25:41Mashallah, we have many brothers and sisters here sitting in this
- 25:44theatre hall who know one or two or perhaps more than one or two
- 25:49of Shia by name. I really thought, I really hate
- 25:52to say this and Charlotte, we can all be true Shia, but there
- 25:55is definitely something more that we have to do.
- 25:58Is it simple to say that I just go to Sierra, I love the headed
- 26:02bait. I just stand on the prayer mat.
- 26:05I do my Baja, but I do my fast and that's all.
- 26:08And inshallah, we ask a lot to grant us.
- 26:10Jenna No. Is there more that we have to do
- 26:12or is there an expectation of what we should, you know, follow
- 26:18to be called true Shia? Because it's easier to say, for
- 26:20example, governor was a true Shia and was a labas with a true
- 26:23Shia. But for myself, Mohammed, sorry,
- 26:25I'll say for Ahmed as well. How can we become true Shia in
- 26:30this day and age today? You see, brothers and sisters.
- 26:35We're not meant to be greedy except in one thing.
- 26:39You should be the greediest, and that is how the Imam of your
- 26:45time perceives you. And I'm going to answer this
- 26:48question. I'm not, I'm not.
- 26:50I'm focused on this question. Thank.
- 26:53You, we believe. That we are in the time of
- 26:58awaiting. And Imam and some people are
- 27:06under the impression that when the Imam reappears, he's going
- 27:10to look for people that only have great intentions.
- 27:13This guy has great intentions also.
- 27:15He's a good person. So I am going to choose him as
- 27:18one of my generals. Imagine Yanni.
- 27:21The Imam is going to need so many people.
- 27:23He's going to need people in the media.
- 27:26Yeah, yeah, Allah. He's going to need artists.
- 27:29He's going to need athletes. He's going to need politicians.
- 27:32He's going to need diplomats. He's going to need authors.
- 27:35He's going to need army generals.
- 27:37He's going to need everything. He's going to need scholars.
- 27:39He's going to need orienters. He's going to need everything
- 27:43that you can imagine right now. Imam is going to choose people.
- 27:47When the imam reappears, he's not going to only look at our
- 27:51intentions and say this guy is a good guy, he has good
- 27:54intentions. The imam is going to say he has
- 27:56a track record. This guy lost sleep.
- 28:00This woman gave away her jewelry.
- 28:03I have seen with my own eyes woman bringing every piece of
- 28:07jewelry they have, giving it fee.
- 28:09Sabine, you think this woman and the woman that has not done
- 28:14anything besides Salah and Slam are equal?
- 28:17No. All of our report cards go to
- 28:20the Imam. He sees this.
- 28:22He sees that this person left his wealth.
- 28:25This this person is losing sleep over my agenda.
- 28:30And he's capable and he's well trained.
- 28:32When the Imam reappears, yes, I'll speak about myself.
- 28:36He says this guy, he's not, he's not very good.
- 28:40He's not a very good guy. He's he's got problems mentally.
- 28:44He's not very complete. And also we all slip here and
- 28:48there. So here is what the rewaya says.
- 28:51The rewaya says yem sahu Ala ro ousi, as had then my incomplete
- 28:57akal, my incomplete Iman, my incomplete dedication becomes
- 29:02complete. But I have to show that
- 29:04dedication. I have to show that I am
- 29:07dedicated today so that when you reappear, you choose me.
- 29:11This, this is truly the the, the, the meaning of entaval.
- 29:17Or else, how am I doing? Until that I'm sitting at home
- 29:19watching Netflix all day. When it comes to the heart of
- 29:22the Imam himself in my pocket, I'm not willing to give it.
- 29:26We call it active interval. So those individuals you're
- 29:31missing out and individuals, they individuals such as those
- 29:36individuals, they think they're winning.
- 29:38La I hamdulillah I purchased a bigger home.
- 29:41I'm now flying business class. I also, you know, some people
- 29:45think I I'm very smart when it comes to my home.
- 29:48Sometimes I give less. Sometimes, you know, I'll tell
- 29:51you this and I'm sorry for sidetracking for a bit.
- 29:54I'll come back. I once was sitting with a grand
- 29:57alum and I asked him I must and com one of my teachers.
- 30:00I asked him when I was on com. I asked him, he's a he's a
- 30:03merger. I asked him, I said to him, this
- 30:07mess Allah about Homs. Is Homs applicable here or not?
- 30:13So he answered me, he said no, Homs here is not applicable.
- 30:17Then he looked at me and he said, he said, Jawad, you have
- 30:21to educate the Shia differently though.
- 30:24So I I'm thinking this guy wants to pay his homes.
- 30:27He's so. Meticulous that he's and here is
- 30:31this here's the merger thinking that we have to educate them
- 30:34further, you know. So I said, how should we educate
- 30:38them? He said.
- 30:39Homes is you take 20% of the extra and you give it to Adel
- 30:46bait. Educate them so they know
- 30:49everything they have belongs to the Adel bait.
- 30:54Imagine. We're greedy with with dollar
- 30:58few dollars. Yan Allah has given this person
- 31:01millions. He's greedy with a little bit.
- 31:03Should I pay? Should I not pay?
- 31:04Who should I pay it to? How should I pay it?
- 31:07The fact is, if you are trying to attain that level of
- 31:12marathon, if you are trying to please your Imam, you say, yeah,
- 31:16yeah, Sahab al asriwa Zaman. Yeah, ABBA Abdullah.
- 31:20Yeah. I mean, I will take as much as I
- 31:23need and the rest is yours. And even the the the bit that I
- 31:27take is with your permission, with your bounties upon me, that
- 31:32I take what I need and the rest. Belongs to you.
- 31:35So you know what, what I want to say is you're asking me what
- 31:43should we do to be Shia as, as you know, just going to see
- 31:47Allah, going to a medjool, paying my dues, paying homes.
- 31:51Is this enough? Absolutely not.
- 31:53Because we have to be greedy because when the Imam comes,
- 31:56he's going to choose the best. Have I put myself in that
- 31:59ranking of being the best top five type, top ten, top 20 in my
- 32:04field so that the Imam glances at me and says, yes, you have
- 32:08some flaws, but you have, you know, great potential and Yam
- 32:12Saha Allah and they become complete.
- 32:15Let me give you the story please.
- 32:17This is an authentic story from an Imam Jaffarabini Muhammad
- 32:21al-Assad. Salah Alayhi was Salaam Alayhi,
- 32:24the founder of our there was the Imam had a companion by the name
- 32:34of Abu Hamza Tamali. You all have heard of Abu Hamza
- 32:38Tamali, the famous daughter of Abu Hamza Tamali.
- 32:42Abu Hamza Tamali, he came to Imam Sadiq.
- 32:45He sat in the presence of Imam Sadiq.
- 32:47Imam Sadiq says to him, listen to this.
- 32:51The Imam says to him, yeah, ABBA Hamza, when I see you, I feel
- 32:56great, I feel happy, I feel content, I feel joy.
- 33:03Subhan Allah, usually we go to the tabra of the Imam, La Eden
- 33:10buburikum, so that we get that feeling of inner peace, that
- 33:18serenity. Now here's Abu Hamza Tamali
- 33:21going to the Imam and the Imam says your presence here gives me
- 33:26serenity. Obviously you gotta know what he
- 33:30is, what he's done, so one of the companions says to the imam.
- 33:37He says it's. The other way around, we come to
- 33:41you for serenity. You tell Abu Hamza Somali that
- 33:44when he comes, he gives you serenity and the Imam tells him
- 33:49why. Listen to this astonishing
- 33:51story, Abu Hamza. He was an orator, a speaker, a
- 33:55scholar, a alem, a muballek, and he would go around, he would do
- 33:59tabligh. One day he was in a city and he
- 34:03was giving lectures and a lady passed by that city, very
- 34:11wealthy woman with a caravan of of goods.
- 34:16So she saw there's a lot of people sitting.
- 34:18And Abu Hamza was very eloquent. He was very smart.
- 34:21You can tell by the variations and the duas.
- 34:25So she sat. The next day he gave a lecture.
- 34:28The third day, 4th day, I don't know how many days, but
- 34:30eventually she came and she said listen, can I meet this man?
- 34:34So yeah, you can meet him. So I imagine afterwards she came
- 34:38and she sat with Abu Hamza Tamali and she said to him those
- 34:42things that you tell the people, where do you get them from?
- 34:47He said from Jafaram Muhammad Sayeed Iwafar Muhammad al Sadaq.
- 34:52She said to him. Jafar Sadaq.
- 34:55He's your teacher who said yes. From Jafar Asad, so she said
- 35:00then I would like to be in Akoon ma Anta Ali, I want to be what
- 35:07you are. So she entered the school of
- 35:12albeit. She became one of the followers
- 35:13of the school of albeit. When she was about to leave, Abu
- 35:18Hamza Samadi says to her, sit down, now that you have found
- 35:23the light of Ahlil Beit Alayhum Salah to Assalam, what are you
- 35:26going to do about that? She said no Abu Hamza, if my
- 35:30father finds out who I I sat here and I spoke with you and
- 35:35you told me of Jafar Abu Muhammad, you will kill me.
- 35:38So I have to be quiet. Abu Hamza says to her.
- 35:43But I will do daat for you. Don't be afraid, I will do DAAT
- 35:47for you. Nothing will happen to you.
- 35:53That sentence seemed to have moved this woman.
- 35:56Give her enough confidence that the dua of Abu Hamza Somali with
- 36:01one Allahi Ta'ala Ali is going to make things OK for her.
- 36:06So she goes and she speaks to her brothers.
- 36:10She had brothers. She speaks to her brothers, she
- 36:14introduces them to the school of Al Bait and they all become
- 36:17Shia. One of her brothers was Zorara
- 36:21Ibn Ayan, the greatest, she a scholar in the history of
- 36:28Shiazem, the greatest companion of Imam Jaffar Ibn Muhammad al
- 36:33Sadiq. So you So when I look at the
- 36:36biography of Abu Hamza Somali, when I see how the Imam received
- 36:43him and interacted with him automatically, I want to 1st I
- 36:47pray to Allah, I say give me the tophi.
- 36:50Then I want to know what he did and I want to emulate him
- 36:55because we're, you know, we're. Trying to be proud on the day of
- 37:01judgment, when Fatima to Zahra looks at us, when Emir and
- 37:04Motminin looks at us, when our Ember look at us, they say this
- 37:07guy did something for us. This woman, she did something
- 37:12for us. They didn't just, you know,
- 37:13spend their days and nights infatuated with the lower life.
- 37:19This dunya that passes by so quickly and then some of us will
- 37:24be forgotten forever before the 40th.
- 37:28Nobody remembers them, nobody cares for them.
- 37:31And some people will live eternally and if.
- 37:34You want to live eternally, then you have to put your name in the
- 37:38list of those who will return remain eternal, and that is.
- 37:44I'm. Saying that we are unfortunately
- 37:49swiftly running out of time. It feels like we can discuss for
- 37:53for many, many hours more. And like I said, Ali said Ali,
- 37:56there's no end to to doing justice to the merits of the Ali
- 38:00Salaam Inshallah, Hopefully we are going to find time to to do
- 38:03a proper podcast again with you inshallah.
- 38:06So make sure you guys are subscribed to the aftermath of
- 38:08YouTube channel so you can see the conversation with say Jawad
- 38:11and Charlotte in due course. But say there's a final
- 38:14question. When you look at the London Shia
- 38:17community and you see us and, and where we've come from and
- 38:20not just London, let's say the Western Shia community at large.
- 38:24What advice would you have for us, the layman and just
- 38:29generally those who are involved in day-to-day community
- 38:31activities about how we can be more worthy of that title?
- 38:35As a Shia, I know you talked about not being literal and
- 38:38superficial in our actions and not tick box.
- 38:41What's the word? Ticking the boxes and
- 38:43checklisting, you know, Ziara and Ziara and so on and all of
- 38:46these kind of things, but what are the things that we can do to
- 38:50determine for ourselves if we're on the right track or not?
- 38:54So there are a few things that is a part of the Shiite identity
- 39:00that I would love for the brothers and sisters to think
- 39:04about and possibly incorporate within their lives.
- 39:08And this is also possibly ignored or not mentioned as it
- 39:13should be as the Imams wanted it to be mentioned.
- 39:16And I'll tell you what it is. It is the endorsement and
- 39:20assisting and aiding and loving other Shia and I'll tell you.
- 39:26This is a part of the Shia characteristics.
- 39:32I'll give 2 examples. One Imam, Jafar Sadiq al Salah
- 39:37was Salaam. He was doing tawaf and it seems
- 39:40this liwya. It seems from the rewya that the
- 39:44tawaf was wajib. At least this is.
- 39:47At least this is how half of the ulama understood this Liwya and.
- 39:52The discussion of Hajj. The Imam is doing tawaf with a
- 39:57few of his companions. There is a companion.
- 40:00He's standing on the far side, possibly outside the mawaf.
- 40:04And he's pointing to one of the companions next to the Imam like
- 40:08this, hey, you know, he's and this, this companion, he's doing
- 40:12tawaf with Imam Asada. So he, he kind of ignores him.
- 40:16One round, 2 rounds, 3 rounds, 4th round, the Imam realizes
- 40:20this guy, he's, he's calling his Sahabi.
- 40:24So he says to him, is this man calling you?
- 40:27So he says yes, he's calling me. He says why don't?
- 40:30You go to him, he said. Where am I going to go to him?
- 40:35I don't know him right now, Subhanallah.
- 40:39Subhanallah, the Imam says to him, Ahuwah FEMA antuma alayi is
- 40:49he a part of? You.
- 40:52Is he a Mutman? Does he believe in what you
- 40:56believe? Said yes, of course.
- 40:58He says this is an. Amber from the Imam, cut your
- 41:05tawaf, go and aid him, go and assist him and then come back
- 41:12and finish your Amman. And then the Imam tells him this
- 41:17punchline. He says by you taking a step
- 41:21each step to go and help this moment.
- 41:25Brother of yours, Allah Subhanahu Wata, Allah will write
- 41:28for you the thawab of Sabrina Tawaf today.
- 41:36This is something meaningless to us, to a lot of us, as she, a
- 41:41brother and sister is in need. I'll do that for them.
- 41:46Another person comes to Imam. I know your time is limited, but
- 41:51just let me. Tell you this.
- 41:52Beautiful, fascinating story. He says to Imam, the governor of
- 42:01Ahwaz, he, they say that he's Shia.
- 42:05We don't know his Shia. Obviously it was time of Tapia.
- 42:07We don't know his Shia, but he they say he's Shia.
- 42:10And I am indebted to the governor, a lot of money, a lot
- 42:14of taxes. If he wants to collect from me,
- 42:16I will lose my home, I will lose everything, I will go below 0.
- 42:21I'll be completely impoverished. So the Imam says to him, sit
- 42:25down, don't leave. When everybody leaves, the Imam
- 42:28tells him bring me a piece of paper.
- 42:30He brings him a small piece of paper.
- 42:32May be this big. I'll tell you why, because it's
- 42:34so tiny. But why it indicates that it's
- 42:36tiny? The Imam writes the statement on
- 42:39the piece of paper. Bismillah Rahman Rahim in Allahi
- 42:52Villain was Salaam Jaffarabad Muhammad al Sadaq one line
- 43:01Bismillah Rahman Rahim Allah provides a shadow against the
- 43:09heat in the Day of Judgment for those who solve and resolve the
- 43:15problems of their brethren. Muhammad brethren in the Day of
- 43:20Judgment and this man carrying the letter is your brother was
- 43:26Salaam and then he signed his beloved name, Jafar Abdul
- 43:29Muhammad Al Asada. This man takes the letter and he
- 43:32travels all the way to Ahwaz, the governor sitting when people
- 43:37leave, they evacuate. He says I have a a piece of
- 43:41paper for you. The governor's by himself.
- 43:45Imagine you're a governor, somebody brings a letter to you.
- 43:48You don't know what it is, but you are a Shia.
- 43:51He opens the letter, He sees the handwriting of Imam Assad, which
- 43:55tells you. He knows the handwriting, which
- 43:57tells you this is not the first time Imam has sent a letter.
- 44:00Because today somebody comes and tells me, write a letter for me
- 44:03of endorsement or something. I'll think 1000 times before I
- 44:07endorsed anybody. We think 1000 times before we
- 44:10put a like on a post. Well, why?
- 44:13Well, this is your post. How am I endorsing this person?
- 44:17How am I not endorsing this person, this man, he saw the
- 44:22writing of the Imam, he knows this is the Imam.
- 44:24And then obviously the signature.
- 44:26So he stood, he stood, he put the letter on his head and he
- 44:30says to this man, his name was Najahi.
- 44:32The governor's name is Al Najahi, not the Najahi, the the
- 44:35king, but this, this man's name was Najahi.
- 44:38So he says to him, hold on. He called out his personal
- 44:43assistant. He said, look, government
- 44:45treasury, I can't do, but let me see how much money I have.
- 44:49So he says to his personal assistant, he says, how much
- 44:52money do I have? Golden coins?
- 44:56I don't know the exact numbers now, I'm paraphrasing, but
- 44:59they're very large. Let's say he says 100,000 golden
- 45:02dinars. He says to this guy trying to
- 45:05get maybe 50-60 golden dinars so that, you know, he can go back
- 45:11to his life. He says 100,000 golden dinars.
- 45:15He says half of it is for you 50,000.
- 45:20He says no. No, I don't need 50,000.
- 45:22I just need you not to take taxes.
- 45:24He says it's OK 50. 1000 is it enough?
- 45:2850,000 I've never even heard of 50,000 Golden Dinosaurus is
- 45:31enough. The guy is so excited he wants
- 45:35to run out before the governor changes his mind.
- 45:38He gets up. He seeks permission.
- 45:40He says to his The governor says to his personal assistant.
- 45:44He says, how many horses do I have?
- 45:46Let's say he says 50. He says half of them are for
- 45:50you. He says I don't need fifty
- 45:53horses. No, half of them are for you.
- 45:56Our elite. Our elite.
- 45:58Are you happy? Are you satisfied?
- 46:00He says I am beyond satisfied. He's about to leave again.
- 46:05He asked his personal assistant, the governor.
- 46:08He says, how many homes do I have?
- 46:11Let's say he says 10. He says half of them are yours
- 46:15this guy now at this point he has a breakdown.
- 46:17Is this a joke? Is this real What's going on out
- 46:21of it? Of course, of course I have more
- 46:24than now you've made me a millionaire.
- 46:26Of course I I am happy and then he says how many servants do I
- 46:30have? How many this how many he
- 46:32divides everything that he potentially has with this man
- 46:36and then he says to him out of it he.
- 46:39Says he says now what I want you to do.
- 46:44Is go tell Imam Sadiq that I gave you a river as we say in
- 46:50Iraq and athletic I gave you enough so that you are
- 46:54satisfied. Go to the Imam and tell him I
- 46:56did this. Subhan Allah, this is a man that
- 47:01is smart. He knows the opportunity to seek
- 47:04the river of the Imam doesn't come every day and knocks at my
- 47:09door. Sometimes I can run away from
- 47:11it. I can say 5 dinars, I'll give
- 47:15him I won't collect tax or this is an opportunity where I can
- 47:19make sure that Imam says this about me, that I am happy with
- 47:23this man and parentheses just like power, power.
- 47:28I actually could have said I don't want this man in my house
- 47:30or she saw it as an opportunity. I'm going to bring him in
- 47:33because there isn't going to be, you know, Muslim and but I've
- 47:36been knocking at my door every day and this is how we have to
- 47:40think. So the man traveled back to Imam
- 47:43Sadiq. Imam Sadiq says as soon as his
- 47:45arm, he said, come, he came, he sat, He said to him, what did
- 47:49this man do? So he starts describing the AB
- 47:52Narasal Allah. He gave me half of his wealth.
- 47:54He gave me and the Imam, he started tearing up.
- 48:00And then this man, when he finished, he said the AB
- 48:03Narasal, Allah al Avitan, are you happy with this governor?
- 48:10The Imam says, Allah, nothing you can do gives you this
- 48:24guarantee. That's the Imam of your time,
- 48:29says Allah, I am pleased with him.
- 48:31Allah, my grandfather is pleased with him.
- 48:34Allah, my grandfather is pleased with him Wallah.
- 48:38He has pleased Allah all the way in his harsh.
- 48:43How? How can we get this guarantee?
- 48:45The guarantee comes through serving other Meneen that follow
- 48:53the cause of the EHL bait. I think this is something that
- 48:56we truly need to promote this concept of brotherhood and love
- 49:00amongst us. Beautiful, beautiful.
- 49:02I love, I love these gems. And this is something we can all
- 49:04reflect on and Charlotte implements after this episode.
- 49:07And they say, you know, time is limited.
- 49:09That's beside your time stops. No, no, no, no, no.
- 49:14You said you have a final question.
- 49:15Doesn't mean I don't have a final question from Charlotte.
- 49:19Forgive me backstage, say this is a very important question
- 49:22someone told me to ask and I and I told them I will ask this on
- 49:25the podcast, say Jawad the Sha Allah and they will watch this
- 49:28once this episode is they're on their journey to finding a last
- 49:33panel Atal Azzawajal very briefly say it's the question is
- 49:37here. They're confused where to go.
- 49:41They've seen all these different sects in Islam.
- 49:43They've seen all, you know, Sunni, Shia I Salafi or Sophie.
- 49:48There's like, they're really confused and they're trying to
- 49:51make a decision and they watch your content say it.
- 49:55And they said, if I can ask you the question.
- 49:57And that is what is it that they can find in Shia Islam, that
- 50:03they can't find in other sects? That they're guaranteed to know
- 50:07that if I become Shia, if I accept the Willai of Amir and
- 50:11Mummanian, and if I hold on to the Faqalain, as they've been
- 50:14reading on their journey to this path, and Sha Allah is that why
- 50:19is it that they can find in the school of that debate they don't
- 50:22find anywhere else? So very briefly, as you said, I
- 50:27will answer this question. On the following way, yes.
- 50:31You see, brothers and sisters, there was a time where Benny
- 50:34Abbas and Benny Omeya had a conflict.
- 50:38I don't have time to get into why and how, but in sha Allah
- 50:41you can go and read some history.
- 50:43Benny Abbas was on the rise. Benny Omeya was on the decline,
- 50:47therefore they there was a period of freedom.
- 50:51This freedom was given to Al Baqarain al Sadaqani, Alayhah
- 50:55Salah to Assalam, Imam al Bakar and Imam Assad who are referred
- 50:57to as Bakarain and Sadaqaq. Bakarain comes from the title of
- 51:02Imam al Bakar al al Bakarah. He opened knowledge, the doors
- 51:06of knowledge and Imam Assad he because he was the utmost level
- 51:12of truth, not because he didn't lie in Astajurabullah.
- 51:15That's not what it means. It means that whatever he said
- 51:18was a fact. And you imagine you're sitting
- 51:20in front of somebody, everything he says is a fact.
- 51:23There is no, you know, maybe possibly.
- 51:26So aside the Kain al Bahrain, Imam al Bakar al Hassalah to
- 51:30Assalam in that area, imagine Islam had travelled so many
- 51:36places, far places and mostly by the sword.
- 51:41Mostly they would invade land they would take at.
- 51:45In some books of history they would take 100,000 captives
- 51:52homes. Of that 20,000 of them would go
- 51:55to the Khalifa. 20,010 thousand men, 10,000 women enslaved given
- 52:01to the Khalifa. The men mostly in the time of
- 52:04many Abbas, they would castrate them, women, they would enslave
- 52:09them. OK, so obviously the Muslims
- 52:13realized this is not Islam. Islam was expanding now, new
- 52:18things, new developments, new questions.
- 52:21For example, a question as simple as can I drink tea?
- 52:25Can I smoke tobacco? Can I, for example, take this
- 52:29medicine? Can I believe in this?
- 52:31Can I not believe in this Muslims?
- 52:33They had a lot of land, they had a lot of wealth, but they had no
- 52:36rules. They had no laws.
- 52:38They did not have to make laws in the time of mammal Baker,
- 52:42Imammal Baker taught them how to develop Islamic laws.
- 52:47Imam Messiah taught them what fikh is, what is halal, How do
- 52:51you develop a law? How what is tafsira Quran?
- 52:57How do you engage with the Quran?
- 52:59They didn't know. How do you engage with, for
- 53:02example, rewyat? A person comes, he says I have
- 53:05two rewyat, they're both from Rasul Allah, but they contradict
- 53:10each other. What do I do with them?
- 53:12They didn't know. The Imam taught them what to do
- 53:15with the Quran, what to do with the Rivayat, how to understand
- 53:18Islam, how to derive laws. Therefore some of the students,
- 53:24they took that knowledge and they ran with it and they
- 53:26developed schools of thought. They became imams of schools of
- 53:30thought. Some of them for two years they
- 53:33sat under the member of Imam Masada.
- 53:35They became founders of schools of thought.
- 53:38Therefore, if you are a Muslim today, whether you're Sufi,
- 53:44whatever you are, Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi, you are indebted
- 53:48to Mama Sadiq. Because before Mama Sadiq,
- 53:51people didn't know Muslims, didn't know how to derive laws
- 53:53from their books. You would not know how to make
- 53:56laws. You would not know how to engage
- 53:58with the Holy Quran. Not just that, but to hate.
- 54:02They didn't know what torhade is.
- 54:04And I'm sorry to say, but some people still don't know what
- 54:07torhade is. That is why Imam Assaduk sat one
- 54:12of his students by the name of Moffatwa Leben Amir and he told
- 54:14him, Qtubma Umli Alek, I'm going to teach you what torhade is.
- 54:19Those people don't know what torhade is.
- 54:21So he taught him Torhade al Muffatwa.
- 54:24Today the greatest book of Torhade comes from Imam Assadu.
- 54:28So for a person to look elsewhere is meaningless because
- 54:31everything in Islam initiated from Imam al Sadiq.
- 54:35All, every Muslim is in that it's Imam al Sadiq.
- 54:37Every book of law, though today it, it, it does, is not aligned
- 54:43with the teachings of Imam al Sadiq, but the idea of how to
- 54:46develop laws, how to understand the Quran, how to do tafsir, all
- 54:50those ulum came from Imam al Sadiq tawheed.
- 54:53Now let us come to others who are not Muslims, such as people
- 54:57in 9th grade studying algebra. Where did that come from?
- 55:01Chemistry. Where did that come from?
- 55:03Astronomy? Where did that come from?
- 55:05Those are all the students of Imam Asad. al-Assad was Salaam.
- 55:09He taught one of them algebra, he taught one of them chemistry,
- 55:12he taught one of them astronomy and the rest of the sciences.
- 55:14Therefore, all of humanity is actually indebted to Imam
- 55:17Asadam. Now you might say, why only Imam
- 55:20Asadam? Because he had freedom to speak
- 55:25and the year 329, the 12th Imam 1 into Rabba, if they had
- 55:32allowed Ehl Bei to speak for 329 years, we would have been in a
- 55:37different place today. Therefore, Benin Abbas realized
- 55:42if Imam Assadiq, with this limited freedom was able to
- 55:46develop algebra and sciences and astronomy and all those alum,
- 55:51what is his son going to do? Musab na Jafar?
- 55:54Therefore, let's put Musab na Jafar in prison.
- 55:57Let's. That's why the Ahilbeit did not
- 56:00have freedom to speak for that limited period of time.
- 56:04Today, because of them, the entire world is illuminated and
- 56:07lightened. So tell this friend.
- 56:14To be. You have two options, you can go
- 56:17around and the Mamasada actually says this.
- 56:20He says go to the West, go to the east, go to the north, go to
- 56:23the South. Look, you will not find
- 56:26knowledge. Besides here Saluni Kaplantov,
- 56:31Paduni was his grandfather Amir al Mahmini.
- 56:35Or you can begin the sweet beautiful journey with the AL
- 56:39babe. Today you begin the journey.
- 56:41Go and read a Sahiba Sajadiya. Begin that journey.
- 56:44Go read Najal Balaga. Begin that journey.
- 56:47Go and read, for example, the Duas of the Ahil Bates.
- 56:52You will realize that you have hit the jackpot.
- 56:55Muhammad, Muhammad, thank you so much.
- 57:05Thank you for for gracing us with your wisdom, with your
- 57:08words of eloquence. I know it feels like we have so
- 57:12much more to still discuss than inshallah we will do that.
- 57:14Doesn't feel like there is this. We'll make a Part 2.
- 57:17Inshallah we will do. We will do a Part 2 Inshallah
- 57:19brothers and sisters. So please recite a Salawat once
- 57:22more for Saint Muhammad Jawad Bazwini.
