- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one piece episodes seven ninety five and seven ninety six,
- 0:18Speaker 1: A Giant Ambition, Big Mom and Caesar and the Land
- 0:23Speaker 1: of Souls Mom's fatal ability. In this episode, we find
- 0:31Speaker 1: out how Big Mom's power works partially. And I will
- 0:37Speaker 1: tell you what, my friends, this is wild. I mean,
- 0:42Speaker 1: does it get more opie than literally controlling people's souls
- 0:47Speaker 1: and life force? I think not. Welcome to spoil Me,
- 1:10Speaker 1: Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you
- 1:14Speaker 1: very much to Bernadette for commissioning this episode, and I
- 1:19Speaker 1: wanted to offer a correction because it was Bernadette who
- 1:22Speaker 1: commissioned the previous episode and I gave credit to Florian.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I am used to looking at my calendar for whoever
- 1:30Speaker 1: is the person commissioning it, and there is a separate
- 1:33Speaker 1: spreadsheet that Florian gives me, and I I didn't realize, like,
- 1:41Speaker 1: I don't know why I never noticed it, but that
- 1:43Speaker 1: the names of the people I'm actually meant to credit
- 1:45Speaker 1: are on there. So I have to keep on looking
- 1:49Speaker 1: at that and try and remember that. Sorry about it, Bernadette,
- 1:53Speaker 1: I hope you know I appreciate you. I just want
- 1:57Speaker 1: to like really quickly mention that I I'm having like
- 2:00Speaker 1: either a cold or allergy attack. Excuse me, So I
- 2:09Speaker 1: think this may happen occasionally during the episode, or I
- 2:12Speaker 1: may sneeze out of nowhere. Apologies ahead of time. It
- 2:16Speaker 1: is h I'm feeling a lot better than I did
- 2:20Speaker 1: over the weekend. So that's a promising sign. So yeah, guys,
- 2:27Speaker 1: this is a truly I mean, it's so fun in
- 2:35Speaker 1: a way what Mom has chosen to do here. I
- 2:40Speaker 1: just really want to like take a moment and admire
- 2:45Speaker 1: the fact that what Big Mom is doing. And look,
- 2:50Speaker 1: it may be later on that we find out like
- 2:53Speaker 1: a different thing, but for now, what Big Mom is
- 2:59Speaker 1: doing is taxing everybody who lives in her domain by
- 3:06Speaker 1: taking a little bit of their soul, their life force,
- 3:11Speaker 1: and putting it into inanimate objects around the islands and
- 3:18Speaker 1: bringing them to life. Now, if you were just gonna
- 3:23Speaker 1: be real basic about this, what would you do? You
- 3:27Speaker 1: would have this person taking pieces of folks life force
- 3:33Speaker 1: for themselves. You would have them doing something to keep
- 3:38Speaker 1: themselves alive, right, And instead she's like, no, let me
- 3:46Speaker 1: make my island full of like a live things. I
- 3:51Speaker 1: can't help but love that, Like it's just such a
- 3:55Speaker 1: weird and you know, maybe that she can't take people's
- 3:58Speaker 1: life force for herself, it might not go with the fruit,
- 4:01Speaker 1: but I mean, this is all Oda's idea, and if
- 4:06Speaker 1: he put that limitation on it, that's fun. Also, like,
- 4:11Speaker 1: either way, this is just a very different thing than
- 4:15Speaker 1: what I have seen with a lot of villains who
- 4:17Speaker 1: can take life forces. Normally it's purely for their own
- 4:23Speaker 1: either immortality or for them to continue looking young. Very
- 4:27Speaker 1: much giving the Sanderson's sisters because they put the sister
- 4:32Speaker 1: under that spell and then suck the life off of
- 4:35Speaker 1: her so that they become young again kind of thing.
- 4:38Speaker 1: And this is just like it's so much more amusing.
- 4:42Speaker 1: It's so much more childish, but in a way that
- 4:45Speaker 1: I approve of. What an interesting idea. Sorry, Sarah, Fhim says,
- 4:53Speaker 1: so far you've seen a Yanka with the power to
- 4:56Speaker 1: suck out your soul and one who could cause earthquakes.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Now what could the rest have? I'm sorry, Sarah, and
- 5:03Speaker 1: Janko is that I feel like like there's definitely terminology
- 5:09Speaker 1: that I think just doesn't get used in the dubs,
- 5:12Speaker 1: so I don't remember it. Florian says it is where
- 5:17Speaker 1: when we make group preorders. Oh the spreadsheet, gotcha? Yes,
- 5:22Speaker 1: So okay, let's back this up. It's only two episodes
- 5:25Speaker 1: this time, which makes sense because of like the amount
- 5:27Speaker 1: of info dumping that we are going to be getting. First,
- 5:34Speaker 1: I want to talk about I'm just going to sort
- 5:38Speaker 1: of talk about Brooke and Pedro altogether here, because there's
- 5:44Speaker 1: not a lot going on with them. Pretty much. The
- 5:49Speaker 1: way that things are set up is the two of
- 5:56Speaker 1: them are just observing how much information the enemy already
- 6:01Speaker 1: has and panicking. And there's that, and there's also what's
- 6:08Speaker 1: going on with Jimbei. So the whole thing with Jimbay
- 6:14Speaker 1: is sort of unclear. The like, what we're seeing is
- 6:19Speaker 1: the newspaper circulating a story that we don't actually get
- 6:25Speaker 1: to read explicitly what the story says. We get everybody's
- 6:31Speaker 1: reactions to it as they're reading it. But it's sort
- 6:34Speaker 1: of odd and I don't know if this is like
- 6:37Speaker 1: a mechanic of the way the story is told in general,
- 6:41Speaker 1: if it's a result of the dub or what. But
- 6:44Speaker 1: there's like a bunch of people all standing around with
- 6:47Speaker 1: the newspaper as if they're all reading the same story,
- 6:51Speaker 1: but then one of them will say something out loud
- 6:55Speaker 1: and the others react like they had no idea, despite
- 7:00Speaker 1: that they are all apparently working with like the same
- 7:02Speaker 1: information source here. So whatever the case, it's just, you know,
- 7:07Speaker 1: they've they've got to tell us somehow, and it's just
- 7:11Speaker 1: an exposition tactic, I guess, but it feels sort of
- 7:14Speaker 1: awkward in the moment, I will say. So. The thing
- 7:22Speaker 1: that they keep talking about is that Jimbei has uh
- 7:29Speaker 1: betrayed Big Mom. It's sort of odd, y'all because like
- 7:36Speaker 1: there's not really anything specific about the consequences of this,
- 7:42Speaker 1: and it's just about the fact that he betrayed her,
- 7:48Speaker 1: which I don't It doesn't get into anything specific like
- 7:52Speaker 1: who he's working for now or why he betrayed her
- 7:55Speaker 1: or anything. It just seems like merely the fact that
- 7:59Speaker 1: he has left her ranks is enough to be full
- 8:05Speaker 1: front page news. And it's a little bit mystifying that
- 8:12Speaker 1: this would be front page it's just not there's not
- 8:16Speaker 1: really enough information here. You know, we don't find out
- 8:19Speaker 1: if he's been punished somehow, you know, what the result
- 8:23Speaker 1: was of that wheel that he he turned. It's generally
- 8:29Speaker 1: just to let us know that he's out of her
- 8:32Speaker 1: employ and that there were like, you know, our friends
- 8:36Speaker 1: didn't know that he was under her employ And at
- 8:41Speaker 1: this point it feels like, all right, well, I think
- 8:46Speaker 1: I'm supposed to be like, if things are going the
- 8:49Speaker 1: way that I am, I think meant to take it.
- 8:54Speaker 1: If the author were to have his d brothers, I
- 8:59Speaker 1: think it's a to be that I'm worried now for
- 9:03Speaker 1: Jimbay's life, but I'm not at all. It just feels
- 9:10Speaker 1: like we're burying a lead here that there's something much
- 9:16Speaker 1: more interesting going on and we're not being given that
- 9:21Speaker 1: information or the newspaper couldn't get a hold of it,
- 9:24Speaker 1: and so we're getting like the most nothing story, you know.
- 9:32Speaker 1: So anyway, it just it was an odd It just
- 9:35Speaker 1: felt odd to me, you know. It just seemed like
- 9:38Speaker 1: this isn't this isn't really anything, is it? You know?
- 9:45Speaker 1: And sorry? Uh, Sarafin says the four Emperors, Oh oh,
- 9:53Speaker 1: Yanko's okay. That is a major dub change issue. Sarah
- 10:00Speaker 1: fam Florian says, I think this is the local news
- 10:03Speaker 1: and that's why it is front page. Okay. Well, regardless,
- 10:08Speaker 1: like I said, we don't get any further information about
- 10:11Speaker 1: what's actually going on with him. We just get, Hey,
- 10:17Speaker 1: there's you know this, this person who is fairly powerful
- 10:21Speaker 1: and popular has decided to turn his back on Big
- 10:25Speaker 1: Mom in a very sort of like can you believe
- 10:28Speaker 1: the nerve sort of way. And it's funny because like
- 10:34Speaker 1: everybody is reacting as if the fact that he is
- 10:38Speaker 1: making this choice makes him the biggest loser alive. And
- 10:45Speaker 1: I sort of was here for that energy of just
- 10:47Speaker 1: everybody being like he had it made. Why is he
- 10:52Speaker 1: being so fucking stupid about this? You guys know that, Like,
- 10:57Speaker 1: for myself, I'm not really that into Jembay. I feel
- 11:02Speaker 1: like there's nothing wrong with him exactly. It's simply that
- 11:07Speaker 1: he's got no discernible personality that I can see beyond
- 11:13Speaker 1: being earnest about everything, which really isn't adequate. Maybe we
- 11:18Speaker 1: just haven't gotten to know him well enough. But I
- 11:21Speaker 1: would argue that if we're trying to make me care
- 11:23Speaker 1: about what's happened to him, it's just not really working.
- 11:28Speaker 1: I'm just, of course certain that he's fine, and I'm
- 11:33Speaker 1: guessing he's probably going to wind up with Lufy's crew
- 11:36Speaker 1: in the end, and I just don't really want him
- 11:41Speaker 1: to because I don't like find him that interesting, and
- 11:46Speaker 1: I feel like we already have enough dudes on the crew,
- 11:50Speaker 1: and I would like a woman fighter character to be
- 11:55Speaker 1: added instead, and also somebody who's got a little bit
- 11:59Speaker 1: more personality. But you know, honestly, I've said the crew
- 12:04Speaker 1: is like fairly big now, so I would be okay
- 12:09Speaker 1: if we just left it where it is. That would
- 12:11Speaker 1: be fine with me. I don't know. So anyway, back
- 12:18Speaker 1: to Brooke and Pedro, the whole thing between the two
- 12:22Speaker 1: of them, they're like prowling the island with their little disguises.
- 12:31Speaker 1: And it's so funny to me Brooks disguise because he's
- 12:37Speaker 1: got this like high collared jacket, but the collar is
- 12:41Speaker 1: open in the front so you can still see like
- 12:45Speaker 1: the spinal column if you look closely enough. And then
- 12:48Speaker 1: he's got a sort of scarf at the bottom of
- 12:51Speaker 1: his face and then the big hat at the top
- 12:53Speaker 1: so that you can just see his eyes and like
- 12:55Speaker 1: the top of his nose hole. And it's just very
- 12:59Speaker 1: funny because like I could see it sort of passing
- 13:02Speaker 1: at a quick glance, but if you closely at all,
- 13:06Speaker 1: he looks even free here than he normally does, I
- 13:09Speaker 1: would argue, and I find it very entertaining. Whoever animated
- 13:13Speaker 1: this like picked out how this was going to be done.
- 13:18Speaker 1: I like it, I approve, and he sorry. Sarah him
- 13:24Speaker 1: Is in the chat says, wonder how much of the
- 13:27Speaker 1: jimmey issue is a DUB issue. A lot of his
- 13:30Speaker 1: personality and the stuff around him is meant to be
- 13:33Speaker 1: kind of yakuza bass or Yakuza. It's yakuza, right, Maybe
- 13:40Speaker 1: that's part of the problem. I don't know. It's like
- 13:45Speaker 1: you guys have to always remind me of that. So
- 13:49Speaker 1: I would say, either that is not really done successfully
- 13:53Speaker 1: in general, or it just isn't working in the dub
- 13:56Speaker 1: because it never is giving that for me at all,
- 14:00Speaker 1: not even a little bit, not even remotely. The only
- 14:06Speaker 1: time that ever comes up is when y'all tell me,
- 14:10Speaker 1: and even then it just kind of explains a decision,
- 14:14Speaker 1: but it's still not evident in his behavior or in
- 14:18Speaker 1: the way he speaks. It just doesn't feel like that's present.
- 14:22Speaker 1: So yeah, it might be might be a DUB thing.
- 14:26Speaker 1: But and even so I would argue, like, oh, so
- 14:29Speaker 1: he's supposed to be kind of like based on any
- 14:32Speaker 1: person in the Yakuza that's not enough of a personality
- 14:35Speaker 1: though either, you know, it just feels like that's that's
- 14:39Speaker 1: a category he belongs in. But that's not enough for
- 14:42Speaker 1: a person who's going to be joining the crew. That's
- 14:45Speaker 1: enough for a side character that we meet for a
- 14:48Speaker 1: few episodes, but if we're going to have him be
- 14:51Speaker 1: more of a thing, that's just really inadequate in any case. Regardless,
- 14:58Speaker 1: So this h the whole thing between them is that
- 15:03Speaker 1: they are watching through the window. They're passing by a
- 15:08Speaker 1: little I guess, like, what do you call couturier? Is
- 15:16Speaker 1: that what you would call a place where they make
- 15:17Speaker 1: like couture and the tailors is as simple as a tailor's.
- 15:24Speaker 1: I was almost thinking that the two of them have
- 15:28Speaker 1: a much more charitable interpretation than I did at first.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Their interpretation, I think is correct. Just for the record,
- 15:35Speaker 1: I don't think that I was right, but I definitely
- 15:38Speaker 1: had a moment of oh my god, putting lied to them,
- 15:43Speaker 1: this was all a scam. She's telling them, oh, yeah, yeah,
- 15:46Speaker 1: I'll meet you at the beach with Sanji. Don't worry,
- 15:50Speaker 1: and then she immediately goes and like gets outfitted for
- 15:53Speaker 1: her wedding trousseau because she is not giving up Sonji.
- 15:57Speaker 1: She is not meeting there, and she to get on
- 16:00Speaker 1: with planning her dope wedding in peace. And again I
- 16:07Speaker 1: do not think that I am correct, but that was
- 16:09Speaker 1: my instinctive response initially when they're like, but why is
- 16:13Speaker 1: she here, like she should be at the beach, I
- 16:17Speaker 1: was like, Oh, she's betraying you. But then I think
- 16:21Speaker 1: it's Pedro who says she must be having trouble getting
- 16:25Speaker 1: away from all of her attendants, and based on the
- 16:29Speaker 1: way that the scene goes, I think he's right, because
- 16:31Speaker 1: it's just like she's literally surrounded by women all staring
- 16:36Speaker 1: straight at her, all holding gowns that they want her
- 16:38Speaker 1: to try on. Like the thing that she is involved
- 16:41Speaker 1: in here is very, very involved, and there isn't a
- 16:44Speaker 1: good opportunity to slip away that nobody would notice her.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Even if there were an escape from the dressing room,
- 16:51Speaker 1: if she stepped in there, they would be talking to
- 16:54Speaker 1: her through the dressing room door kind of thing. You know,
- 16:57Speaker 1: There's just no way. And then we have like overseeing
- 17:03Speaker 1: this whole thing the egg man h And it was
- 17:10Speaker 1: very fun, guys, because I was watching this episode with
- 17:12Speaker 1: my husband, who you know, he doesn't watch the show
- 17:15Speaker 1: with me almost ever, So whenever he pops in and
- 17:18Speaker 1: sits with me to watch for a little bit, it's
- 17:20Speaker 1: always like it's been like ten weeks since the last
- 17:24Speaker 1: time he's seen it, and so the characters he's like
- 17:27Speaker 1: doesn't know who they are, and he was really taken
- 17:32Speaker 1: aback by this French accent and everything, and it made
- 17:34Speaker 1: me appreciate it afresh. Sarahim says the do I trust
- 17:40Speaker 1: putting or not debate is the best part about a
- 17:42Speaker 1: first time reaction to this part of the arc. Yeah, Like,
- 17:47Speaker 1: for the record, if it turned out that Pudding was
- 17:51Speaker 1: betraying them, that she didn't intend to give up Sanji,
- 17:54Speaker 1: I would really be delighted by that. Actually, I would
- 17:57Speaker 1: find that very fun. But I don't want that, not really.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I do want her to be working with them and
- 18:07Speaker 1: on their side, only for Sangy's sake. But like I said,
- 18:14Speaker 1: I am personally I would also be very good with
- 18:18Speaker 1: it if she were betraying them. It's just like for
- 18:21Speaker 1: the sake of things going the way that I would
- 18:23Speaker 1: like them to go. I think it's kind of more
- 18:25Speaker 1: fun if she is trying to help. But all of
- 18:29Speaker 1: the wedding stuff just keeps getting in the way of
- 18:31Speaker 1: her escape, because that is just like low key what
- 18:36Speaker 1: planning a wedding is like. If anybody out there listening
- 18:39Speaker 1: has planned a wedding, you fucking know it will have
- 18:42Speaker 1: you buy the throat until it's over and even after
- 18:46Speaker 1: a little bit, and it's full of weird like things
- 18:51Speaker 1: that you wouldn't think of that have to get done,
- 18:54Speaker 1: that have to get chosen, selected, whatever, so that every
- 18:58Speaker 1: time that you kind of feel that a certain portion
- 19:02Speaker 1: of it is over all of a sudden, there will
- 19:05Speaker 1: be somebody like emailing you, going, okay, well we need
- 19:09Speaker 1: you to decide between these four blank and they'll send
- 19:11Speaker 1: you pictures or they'll send you a link to a
- 19:13Speaker 1: listing or whatever. And it's just endless. And that would
- 19:18Speaker 1: be sort of funny if she's like genuinely sincerely trying
- 19:22Speaker 1: to help, but also I cannot get away. Oh my god,
- 19:26Speaker 1: every time you know, I would buy it, I would
- 19:30Speaker 1: like that. So anyway, this whole thing is really really
- 19:40Speaker 1: like it's kind of extra fun because we have the
- 19:44Speaker 1: eggman overseeing this and stressing how important it all is,
- 19:48Speaker 1: YadA YadA, and then he is drawn outside by a
- 19:53Speaker 1: couple of those little tiny soldiers who I don't even
- 19:56Speaker 1: know what to call them. I feel like just calling
- 20:01Speaker 1: them soldiers doesn't feel adequate because they kind of are
- 20:04Speaker 1: giving like Munchkins from Wizard of Oz because they are
- 20:09Speaker 1: so short and they have this very specific costume, even
- 20:14Speaker 1: more than Munchkins. The Munchkins is the short thing. But
- 20:17Speaker 1: they also are reminding me of the witches. Soldiers. Oh oh,
- 20:23Speaker 1: I don't remember what those guys are called, but you
- 20:25Speaker 1: know what I'm talking about, Sarahim says, Chess soldiers. Okay,
- 20:32Speaker 1: excuse me, that's right, because I remember noticing that their
- 20:35Speaker 1: helmets make them look like literal ponds, so okay, that
- 20:38Speaker 1: makes sense. But they're coming into report to the Eggman
- 20:45Speaker 1: about what they know so far of what's happening, and
- 20:51Speaker 1: I fell out because it's basically Pedro and Brooke listening
- 20:57Speaker 1: in and finding out that these folks know everything, everything
- 21:05Speaker 1: that they thought they had arrived in secret and flown
- 21:09Speaker 1: under the radar, and instead every move they've made has
- 21:15Speaker 1: been noted and they do not know how, and it's
- 21:21Speaker 1: mentioned like who could have been watching us? And we
- 21:23Speaker 1: see like one of the flowers like smirking and turning
- 21:26Speaker 1: its head so clearly it's just all of the countryside
- 21:32Speaker 1: is filled with spies, and I don't know if there
- 21:38Speaker 1: is supposed to be a kind of like I'm curious
- 21:43Speaker 1: about the logistics of the system, surprising no one. Logistics
- 21:47Speaker 1: are always my freakin' you know what I'm saying. But
- 21:51Speaker 1: I kept thinking about the way that the game of
- 21:57Speaker 1: telephone works with these sorts of spies. Are they actually
- 22:04Speaker 1: physically talking to one another and it just goes like
- 22:09Speaker 1: actual the game of telephone down the line? Is there
- 22:13Speaker 1: like a sort of telepathic element to this where one
- 22:21Speaker 1: of them sees it and it just can like report
- 22:24Speaker 1: to Big Mom through its mind somehow is it actual traveling?
- 22:31Speaker 1: You know, a flower sees something and that flower kind
- 22:34Speaker 1: of runs off because as we've seen, they can move around.
- 22:38Speaker 1: So there's a lot of questions for me in regard
- 22:42Speaker 1: to how all the news gets about. And I'm just
- 22:47Speaker 1: curious about it because I feel like either decision has
- 22:52Speaker 1: some advantages and disadvantages regarding like functionality and efficiency and whatever.
- 22:58Speaker 1: And if it's a telepathic thing, that's a real bummer
- 23:04Speaker 1: for our people because that's like as fast as the
- 23:07Speaker 1: news can travel pretty much, that's you don't get faster
- 23:10Speaker 1: than that, and it is almost the equivalent of like
- 23:16Speaker 1: every inch of a place being covered in security cameras
- 23:19Speaker 1: with one person in the room looking at all of
- 23:22Speaker 1: the screens. I'm so sorry, guys, I don't know what
- 23:28Speaker 1: is going on, Oh, Sarah em says. My guess would
- 23:34Speaker 1: be they call on transponder snails, so literal telephone a
- 23:38Speaker 1: transponder snail, Like literally didn't even occur to me. That
- 23:41Speaker 1: is so funny. I don't know why I didn't even
- 23:43Speaker 1: think of that, but the DOI all right, yeah, that
- 23:48Speaker 1: makes sense, that definitely makes sense. So I'm sorry, guys.
- 23:55Speaker 1: This is just really funny to me because it's like
- 23:58Speaker 1: the way that they are acting as they're listening in
- 24:01Speaker 1: and realizing that these guys know everything, and then this
- 24:04Speaker 1: person produces a pair of posters of each of them
- 24:12Speaker 1: and is like, and then here are the other guys
- 24:14Speaker 1: that we need to deal with, and they're just like,
- 24:16Speaker 1: oh my god, how did they know about us? And
- 24:19Speaker 1: I just found it really funny, like being right there
- 24:23Speaker 1: thinking you're being slick and then finding out that they
- 24:27Speaker 1: fucking know about you. They have your photo, it's already
- 24:31Speaker 1: likely in circulation. Like there's just so much about it
- 24:34Speaker 1: that I find genuinely funny, and their reactions, like the
- 24:38Speaker 1: way they're animated is also really fun. So it's a
- 24:43Speaker 1: good thing that Brooke has as elaborate a costume on
- 24:46Speaker 1: as he does. But uh, I'm not sure if that's
- 24:50Speaker 1: like how much that's really going to help, you know.
- 24:55Speaker 1: So I'm jumping around here just to make sure that
- 24:59Speaker 1: I'm not missing any thing because I want to. There's
- 25:03Speaker 1: a makeshift poster for Carrot, which is honestly probably better
- 25:13Speaker 1: drawn than the one for Soanji. At least she it
- 25:17Speaker 1: looks closer to her, you know. I'm trying to see
- 25:22Speaker 1: if the posters for Pedro and Brooke actually do include there. Okay,
- 25:27Speaker 1: Pedro's includes his hat, but Brooks doesn't, so Brooke is
- 25:33Speaker 1: having a little bit better luck. We also find out
- 25:36Speaker 1: too that there is a history between him and Eggman,
- 25:44Speaker 1: that they know each other from the past somehow, and I,
- 25:50Speaker 1: I just really I can't imagine, you know, it makes
- 25:58Speaker 1: it sound like this is a romantic history, and I
- 26:04Speaker 1: know that that is like likely unintentional. You know that
- 26:08Speaker 1: that is my silly brain doing what it does in
- 26:12Speaker 1: terms of like fanfic and whatnot. I get it that
- 26:15Speaker 1: I am not on point here at all, and that
- 26:19Speaker 1: it's not going to be that. But there is just
- 26:22Speaker 1: something about the way that they are so sort of
- 26:28Speaker 1: unwilling to talk about it that it feels like, you know,
- 26:34Speaker 1: a really painful breakup. That's just the vibe it's giving
- 26:37Speaker 1: to me of like, look, I just I don't even
- 26:40Speaker 1: want to talk about it, you know I would just
- 26:44Speaker 1: And so that's kind of what is going to be
- 26:46Speaker 1: in my head. And just so you guys are aware,
- 26:51Speaker 1: I don't intend to change that, no matter what the
- 26:55Speaker 1: actual canon tells me, I am going to no matter what,
- 27:02Speaker 1: I'm going to translate everything into this was because the
- 27:11Speaker 1: two of them were involved with each other romantically, and
- 27:16Speaker 1: they're using what's the word, I want euphemisms to just
- 27:23Speaker 1: kind of dodge what everybody like they're they're making a
- 27:28Speaker 1: little bit of a code because they know what happened.
- 27:32Speaker 1: And so that's how I'm going to see it, And
- 27:35Speaker 1: I just want you guys to be prepared for everything
- 27:39Speaker 1: that happens with them to be filtered through this assumption
- 27:43Speaker 1: on my part. And I don't apologize. I think it
- 27:47Speaker 1: will be funny. I think it will uh likely add
- 27:52Speaker 1: a bit of interest to things, to be honest, and
- 27:56Speaker 1: I am looking forward to it. Ever it is, I'm
- 28:02Speaker 1: gonna assign some kind of like other weird story and yeah,
- 28:08Speaker 1: I'm just looking forward to it. So I thought I
- 28:10Speaker 1: would let you let you all know. So all right,
- 28:16Speaker 1: that's pretty much them. I think we just leave them
- 28:20Speaker 1: wondering what they're going to do because they just weren't
- 28:24Speaker 1: prepared for the information to be to have spread this quickly.
- 28:29Speaker 1: And then we go to this scene with Capone and
- 28:40Speaker 1: Peckham's guys. So Capone's got a baby. I really this baby,
- 28:57Speaker 1: what a choice. It's got like the sort of five
- 29:00Speaker 1: o'clock shadows stubble on its face as Capone does. The
- 29:06Speaker 1: whole thing is really something, and it's crying, and it
- 29:11Speaker 1: starts out kind of fun because Capone's like, shut up,
- 29:15Speaker 1: your little monster, you know, and then he becomes unexpectedly
- 29:19Speaker 1: very affectionate with this little kid, and it was honestly adorable.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Like I was just sort of not prepared for that
- 29:30Speaker 1: to be a whole thing, but there it is. And
- 29:36Speaker 1: Peckham's is here, uh, perched on the edge of a
- 29:39Speaker 1: cliff with his whole body trust up and he's got
- 29:45Speaker 1: his his wrists, I think bound behind him, if I'm
- 29:50Speaker 1: not mistaken, and Beij makes some comment about how like, ah,
- 29:56Speaker 1: my son's life is just starting and yours has come
- 29:59Speaker 1: into a clone, you know that this whole thing, and
- 30:02Speaker 1: he says something like it's it is almost like one
- 30:07Speaker 1: of those high art like modern you know, like trying
- 30:13Speaker 1: to make it seem like isn't this poetic? And I
- 30:16Speaker 1: was like, it really isn't. There just happens to be
- 30:18Speaker 1: a baby present, Like these things don't even really have
- 30:21Speaker 1: anything to do with one another, my guy, but whatever,
- 30:24Speaker 1: it's totally fine. So the only thing he says like,
- 30:31Speaker 1: do you have any last words? And we get a replay,
- 30:35Speaker 1: of course of Peckham's confrontation with him last time where
- 30:40Speaker 1: he refused to turn on the straw hats because they
- 30:43Speaker 1: saved his people, YadA YadA, and he Peckham's says to
- 30:50Speaker 1: him just before he gets shot and like thrown off
- 30:54Speaker 1: the edge, he gets out the words you don't know
- 30:59Speaker 1: what you're getting too with mama or big mom. And
- 31:04Speaker 1: I was surprised because it felt like when we saw
- 31:08Speaker 1: him and our friends in the previous like in the
- 31:13Speaker 1: scene where we're first coming to the Island. It sounded
- 31:18Speaker 1: to me, I'm so sorry everybody, like he was sort
- 31:25Speaker 1: of espousing Big Mom's philosophy and saying, you know, she
- 31:32Speaker 1: just wants everybody to be equal, and it felt sincere
- 31:39Speaker 1: as he was saying it. And I don't know if
- 31:41Speaker 1: you just thought we're being spied on, and so I
- 31:44Speaker 1: have to say that, which like it very well. Maybe
- 31:48Speaker 1: if you're aware how her power works and you know
- 31:51Speaker 1: that all of the things around that are watching are
- 31:56Speaker 1: going to tell her what they see, maybe that's the
- 31:59Speaker 1: best way to go actually, you know, but it definitely here,
- 32:06Speaker 1: like he's got a whole different energy to him and
- 32:09Speaker 1: is very much Hey, you seem to think that you
- 32:13Speaker 1: know what's going on and you don't and I do,
- 32:16Speaker 1: and like you're making a mistake here, And I am
- 32:21Speaker 1: assuming that it's about what we find out is going
- 32:24Speaker 1: on later with Big Mom and Caesar Clown, but I
- 32:29Speaker 1: don't know it maybe something like completely other as well.
- 32:32Speaker 1: I don't know. So the Peckham's winds up getting shot
- 32:40Speaker 1: and goes off the edge of the cliff, and we
- 32:42Speaker 1: see all of these sharks like making for him immediately,
- 32:47Speaker 1: and it's sort of taken as like a given that
- 32:51Speaker 1: he is now dead, but I am not so sure.
- 32:58Speaker 1: I almost I'm like, is it possible that those were
- 33:05Speaker 1: like fishmen, that they look like sharks from far away,
- 33:10Speaker 1: from far above, but actually these dudes were all running
- 33:14Speaker 1: in to like rescue him. You know, I don't know,
- 33:18Speaker 1: but I have a hard time believing Peckham's is really
- 33:21Speaker 1: dead because it's just the way the show works, and
- 33:26Speaker 1: nobody's dead unless you see a body, and even if
- 33:28Speaker 1: you see a body, like a lot of times, still
- 33:30Speaker 1: not even then. So we'll see, I guess, but uh, yeah,
- 33:34Speaker 1: for now, I don't buy it. I'll go on record
- 33:38Speaker 1: as saying that I, you guys, this the whole thing
- 33:48Speaker 1: with Beija and his kid. I genuinely don't know where
- 33:53Speaker 1: we're going with this, like how how relevant this is
- 33:56Speaker 1: going to be? But I want a side plot only
- 34:05Speaker 1: about Beij's home life, the way things work with his
- 34:09Speaker 1: wife and child. Is this his first kid? I think
- 34:12Speaker 1: it must be. Yeah, I don't know, y'all, but I am.
- 34:21Speaker 1: There's just something so off putting, but in a way
- 34:26Speaker 1: that I find fascinating, like a train wreck about them
- 34:31Speaker 1: as a familial unit. That makes me really interested despite myself,
- 34:37Speaker 1: and you know, I I would I wouldn't mind, honestly,
- 34:44Speaker 1: like see a series of short stories that were only
- 34:52Speaker 1: kind of the lives of some of the sidekicks in
- 34:56Speaker 1: one piece where it's not like it's not really furthering
- 35:00Speaker 1: the plot, it's not necessarily even giving us information that
- 35:04Speaker 1: is particularly valuable in any way. It's just simply really
- 35:11Speaker 1: fun and weird, and you know it's it adds an
- 35:16Speaker 1: extra layer of flavor if you know it. That's really
- 35:20Speaker 1: that's all I need. I'm good otherwise. So I just sorry, guys,
- 35:27Speaker 1: I just find this whole thing very distracting, and I
- 35:29Speaker 1: find it funny. Beije is just such a weird I'm annoyed.
- 35:33Speaker 1: First of all, let me say that I'm calling him
- 35:35Speaker 1: beij and I know that that's what he's called in
- 35:37Speaker 1: the show, and so it's appropriate that I call him
- 35:39Speaker 1: this also, But I just want to say that I
- 35:43Speaker 1: don't like that they have chosen to call him that
- 35:46Speaker 1: when Capone is right there and so much more memorable.
- 35:49Speaker 1: And I resent the fact that it has gotten enough
- 35:52Speaker 1: in my head now that I'm doing it too. I
- 35:56Speaker 1: don't like it. I just I just don't like it.
- 36:00Speaker 1: So anyway, sorry. Uh. In the in the chat, Saraphim says,
- 36:08Speaker 1: on the plus side, there's enough weird shit in this
- 36:10Speaker 1: kingdom that a walking skill and said wouldn't be all
- 36:11Speaker 1: that odd, one would think. But people still react to
- 36:15Speaker 1: Brooke like this. This is the thing about one Piece,
- 36:18Speaker 1: is that there are tons of things that are like
- 36:20Speaker 1: you've seen weirder, but people still have to kind of
- 36:23Speaker 1: have a reaction anyway. And I'll point out, like Loofy
- 36:30Speaker 1: having to remind everybody that we are walking around with
- 36:33Speaker 1: talking animals right now after they react weirdly to like
- 36:37Speaker 1: a walking talking alligator. This is one piece. If the
- 36:41Speaker 1: death wasn't accompanied by five minutes worth of flashbacks with
- 36:45Speaker 1: mother se playing over them, it's logical to assume they
- 36:47Speaker 1: aren't dead. Is Mother see like a piece of music?
- 36:52Speaker 1: Is that That's what I'm imagining? Florian says, well, there
- 36:56Speaker 1: there are the cover stories. We could send you some
- 36:58Speaker 1: new ones. Oh I forgot about those are those like
- 37:02Speaker 1: the Sidekick, like the Baddies, the Sidekick Baddies. I just
- 37:07Speaker 1: want to stress that that is what I mean, is
- 37:10Speaker 1: like the people that are not that are just weirdo
- 37:14Speaker 1: bad guys that you don't you know. Saraphim says, yeah,
- 37:19Speaker 1: it's the dad piano. Hm. The first one was about
- 37:25Speaker 1: Buggy ooh was it? I don't remember now, Florin, I'm sorry,
- 37:31Speaker 1: Oh sad piano? Got it? Okay, got it? Got that.
- 37:37Speaker 1: I should have known that was a typo, but I
- 37:39Speaker 1: was like, what I thought? This was just more lore
- 37:43Speaker 1: that I didn't know. Who knows? So okay, okay, okay,
- 37:46Speaker 1: let me let me get back on track here. So
- 37:48Speaker 1: let's go to Lufy, who this is extremely funny to me. Guys.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Lufy is in the Seducing Woods, and he is really
- 38:00Speaker 1: getting mad because he keeps seeing his friends, and his
- 38:05Speaker 1: friends keep running away from him, and he doesn't understand
- 38:09Speaker 1: why or what they're doing and decides that he is
- 38:14Speaker 1: going to catch them. The first time that he catches
- 38:19Speaker 1: any of them, it's Sanji, who is just like hissing
- 38:25Speaker 1: and spitting at Loufy and just seems very much like
- 38:29Speaker 1: a rabid animal, and Lufy understandably is just sort of like, bro,
- 38:34Speaker 1: what is going on? Until another sangie suddenly turns up
- 38:41Speaker 1: and now he's like, okay, okay, hold on, what the
- 38:44Speaker 1: fuck is happening? And we kind of like cut from
- 38:50Speaker 1: that moment and then when we come back, Loufy has
- 38:54Speaker 1: just been capturing and collecting all of the friends that
- 38:59Speaker 1: he has in the woods and bound them up and
- 39:03Speaker 1: is tossing them in a pile in front of that
- 39:07Speaker 1: giant dude. And you guys, I wasn't ready for this,
- 39:14Speaker 1: and I should have seen that this joke was coming.
- 39:17Speaker 1: But at one point, Nammy turns and is just like,
- 39:22Speaker 1: what the hell, let me out of these restraints and
- 39:26Speaker 1: he's like, oh my god, this one can talk and
- 39:28Speaker 1: she's like, yeah, I can. He's like she sounds just
- 39:31Speaker 1: like the real Nobby and she's like, because I am
- 39:34Speaker 1: the Oh my god. And again I should have seen
- 39:38Speaker 1: it coming, but I didn't, and I started cracking up.
- 39:42Speaker 1: The whole idea that like he just assumed. You know,
- 39:45Speaker 1: it doesn't make any sense because why would she not
- 39:48Speaker 1: have spoken up already? But it doesn't matter, because it's
- 39:51Speaker 1: just for the joke and it's very it hit and
- 39:56Speaker 1: the two of them being right in front of this
- 40:00Speaker 1: giant dude. Nanny finally turns to that guy and is like, Okay, man,
- 40:05Speaker 1: what the fuck because you've been watching this the whole
- 40:10Speaker 1: time and you didn't say shit to anybody, so you
- 40:14Speaker 1: have got to be involved somehow, like, please be so
- 40:19Speaker 1: for real right now, you're in it? What is happening?
- 40:24Speaker 1: And he says that he won't tell them anything until
- 40:30Speaker 1: they get him a drink of juice. And I really
- 40:34Speaker 1: thought that we were getting that side quest. We don't.
- 40:38Speaker 1: He like, the deal that Lufy makes is maybe we'll
- 40:41Speaker 1: go get it for you once we get what we want,
- 40:46Speaker 1: and also mentions I wouldn't mind having some juice myself.
- 40:49Speaker 1: It actually sounds pretty good. I was kind of gratified
- 40:55Speaker 1: that that quest is put off for a minute so
- 40:58Speaker 1: that we can spend this time I'm here instead just
- 41:03Speaker 1: talking and getting information, because, like I said, I just
- 41:06Speaker 1: didn't think that was happening. So this is this dude.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Like eventually he tells them how he once was the
- 41:21Speaker 1: husband of Big Mom, but it's like not really a
- 41:26Speaker 1: surprise because he keeps calling her Lulu or something like that.
- 41:31Speaker 1: He keeps calling her by her name rather than Big
- 41:36Speaker 1: Mom and then correcting himself and then being like and
- 41:39Speaker 1: then she you know, having to kind of back up.
- 41:45Speaker 1: And it's a little funny because like in the moment
- 41:50Speaker 1: it's giving, but you guys, I have to hide the
- 41:54Speaker 1: fact that I know her because you can't for some
- 41:59Speaker 1: reason know that information. But then he does wind up
- 42:03Speaker 1: telling them the truth anyway, and I was like, this
- 42:06Speaker 1: seems like you could have just said after all, and
- 42:09Speaker 1: I don't know, so, oh my god, sorry, Seraphim's Seraphim
- 42:15Speaker 1: is really up against some some autocorrect and typeos today, Lynn, Lynn,
- 42:20Speaker 1: thank you. And so I'm curious, like exactly I'm gonna
- 42:31Speaker 1: jump ahead to that point where he finds this out
- 42:35Speaker 1: or he tells them how all of this works. But
- 42:41Speaker 1: we find out about the the manipulation of souls and
- 42:47Speaker 1: the fact that like living here, everybody is like living
- 42:55Speaker 1: this wonderful life, but they are paying a price for it.
- 43:03Speaker 1: And I think he says in total, every six years,
- 43:09Speaker 1: it's like the equivalent of a year of their life
- 43:12Speaker 1: that they have given away. Some math like that. I'm
- 43:16Speaker 1: not even totally sure, but honestly, y'all, I get it.
- 43:27Speaker 1: You know, Like it's hard. It's hard for me to
- 43:32Speaker 1: be mad that people are willing to make this compromise.
- 43:36Speaker 1: It just seems like a pretty dope place to live.
- 43:42Speaker 1: And frankly, a lot of this universe is a trash fire.
- 43:48Speaker 1: You know, you have got a lot wrong in this
- 43:52Speaker 1: world and so being somewhere that's like all like not
- 43:59Speaker 1: to your island, but the surrounding islands also are managed
- 44:04Speaker 1: by somebody super powerful, and there is plentiful resources and
- 44:12Speaker 1: everything is just being handled. I understand it's a fucked
- 44:17Speaker 1: up bargain to make, but I really can't be all
- 44:21Speaker 1: that mad about it. And there's a part of me
- 44:25Speaker 1: that's just like, yeah, that's fair, you know. And I
- 44:28Speaker 1: know that probably that's very revealing, and I'm sounding extremely
- 44:35Speaker 1: American right now, so I will acknowledge that. But I just,
- 44:44Speaker 1: you know, shit's bad out here, y'all, and I can't
- 44:47Speaker 1: help but feel sometimes like we're we're it's a worse
- 44:54Speaker 1: deal that we've actually got in the real world. Like
- 45:00Speaker 1: if we are honest with what is demanded of us
- 45:04Speaker 1: in terms of how we live and our productivity and
- 45:07Speaker 1: the level of like healthcare that we are afforded in
- 45:11Speaker 1: the United States specifically, we aren't exactly not trading years
- 45:18Speaker 1: of our lives for how we live anyway, you know,
- 45:21Speaker 1: we are actively encouraged not to take care of ourselves
- 45:26Speaker 1: the way that we should for the sake of our
- 45:30Speaker 1: employer's productivity and whatnot. And it's difficult for me, Like,
- 45:35Speaker 1: there has been so much more research done about how
- 45:40Speaker 1: much rest and sleep affect everything about your quality of life.
- 45:45Speaker 1: And it's disturbing to realize the way that we have
- 45:50Speaker 1: normalized going around and like living our lives chronically sleep
- 45:55Speaker 1: deprived and priding ourselves on not resting enough, and that
- 46:03Speaker 1: we have constructed a society in which asking for help
- 46:06Speaker 1: is seen as somehow like capitulating to like failure and
- 46:13Speaker 1: admitting that you aren't capable, when actually our society is
- 46:18Speaker 1: as it is right now, is sort of new. It
- 46:21Speaker 1: used to be that you dependent on everyone around you anyway,
- 46:24Speaker 1: and we've just kind of restructured and isolated folks in
- 46:29Speaker 1: such a way that we've grown to believe we shouldn't
- 46:34Speaker 1: need help. So anyway, all this to say, I don't
- 46:39Speaker 1: think that this deal people are making is out of
- 46:42Speaker 1: the question or even that much worse than what we've
- 46:46Speaker 1: got going on now. So this whole thing is you know,
- 46:54Speaker 1: him explaining to them the way that this works and
- 46:57Speaker 1: how these pieces of soul are put into all of
- 47:04Speaker 1: the what's the word inanimate objects and things around them,
- 47:11Speaker 1: and they begin to look around and realize that the
- 47:17Speaker 1: entire forest that they are surrounded by it's all an enemy,
- 47:25Speaker 1: it's all like here to take them down. That they
- 47:29Speaker 1: are so hopelessly outnumbered. Honestly, it is a pretty like
- 47:35Speaker 1: jarring image to see this, the way that it's this
- 47:40Speaker 1: tiny group and the trees around them are looming in
- 47:48Speaker 1: and look very threatening, even the flowers. And I'm still
- 47:54Speaker 1: curious about exactly how this works, but I'm assuming that
- 47:57Speaker 1: like once Big Mom takes your soul and puts it
- 48:00Speaker 1: into one of these, that she basically gets total control
- 48:07Speaker 1: over it. Unless it's supposed to be that the folks
- 48:10Speaker 1: who give up the fraction of their souls that they
- 48:13Speaker 1: are so compliant with Big Mom that that piece of
- 48:18Speaker 1: their soul does whatever she asks as like a matter
- 48:23Speaker 1: of course because it matches with the personality that it
- 48:26Speaker 1: was originally taken from. I don't know, I'm just you know,
- 48:30Speaker 1: I'm just thinking out loud here in terms of like
- 48:32Speaker 1: how all this would work, because I they all seem
- 48:37Speaker 1: to be extremely on board with whatever the current plan is,
- 48:45Speaker 1: and I uh, I don't know, it's hard. It's just
- 48:50Speaker 1: it's hard for me to be mad at these bits
- 48:54Speaker 1: of souls, like they have a good thing going and
- 48:59Speaker 1: here comes some folks that might mess that up for them.
- 49:02Speaker 1: And it does make some sense to me why they
- 49:07Speaker 1: would be willing to throw down on Big Mom's behalf.
- 49:11Speaker 1: I can't help but understand that. So yeah, anyway, I
- 49:18Speaker 1: I want to jump over to the which Brulai that
- 49:24Speaker 1: they wind up, you know, up against. It turns out
- 49:28Speaker 1: that Brulas has this whole thing with a mirror, she
- 49:33Speaker 1: ate the mirror mirror fruit, and so she's able to
- 49:37Speaker 1: use this mirror as a weapon. And it's not just
- 49:41Speaker 1: like I am able to because like I'm getting sort
- 49:50Speaker 1: of ahead of myself, but eventually Carrot is fighting her.
- 49:55Speaker 1: She holds up the mirror and Carrot jumps into it
- 50:00Speaker 1: intentionally and gets trapped in it. Which that for me,
- 50:08Speaker 1: the idea of like being not just captured, Because if
- 50:15Speaker 1: you're captured, but you're in your own body in a
- 50:19Speaker 1: normal like way, you know, then you've got a modicum
- 50:24Speaker 1: of control in that situation. You could find a way
- 50:28Speaker 1: to break out, you could find a way to you know,
- 50:33Speaker 1: reason with them whatever. There's all kinds of ways. But
- 50:39Speaker 1: when you are in a magical object that somebody else controls,
- 50:45Speaker 1: now it's a completely different kettle of fish. And I
- 50:47Speaker 1: hate it. Now we've got you know, like, who knows
- 50:55Speaker 1: if there's any expiration day I'm being stuck in there.
- 50:58Speaker 1: She could literally just like maybe stick that mirror in
- 51:01Speaker 1: a closet somewhere and you'll be forgotten forever. I don't
- 51:05Speaker 1: know if the mirror mirror fruit means that it's just
- 51:08Speaker 1: this one mirror that is hers that she can use
- 51:12Speaker 1: this way, or if it's supposed to be that, like
- 51:16Speaker 1: she can can enchant any mirror to do what she
- 51:20Speaker 1: wants it to do. But either way, it just feels
- 51:25Speaker 1: for me like there's something particularly creepy about this ability
- 51:31Speaker 1: in a good way. I like it just for the record,
- 51:35Speaker 1: and I am just really interested in where all this
- 51:40Speaker 1: is gonna wind up going, because our friends are I mean,
- 51:47Speaker 1: Carot's you know, she in there, She in there, And
- 51:53Speaker 1: here's na me all by herself now, and I'm trying
- 51:59Speaker 1: to remember if we actually find out what happened to
- 52:03Speaker 1: everybody else, because we know that Chopper took one of
- 52:07Speaker 1: his rumble balls and became huge, and the Witch reacts brule,
- 52:14Speaker 1: She's very much like, oh shit, I mean, already you
- 52:19Speaker 1: were talking reindeer, which was sort of dope, but now
- 52:23Speaker 1: you have become this thing. You're kind of rad actually,
- 52:27Speaker 1: aren't you. And I couldn't help but just be I look,
- 52:34Speaker 1: we all know that I have a problem with wanting
- 52:37Speaker 1: like the approval of superiors and authority figures and whatever.
- 52:43Speaker 1: That's a given. I have always been a big fan
- 52:49Speaker 1: of the I am your enemy, but I can't help
- 52:53Speaker 1: be impressed by but be impressed by you. And so
- 52:58Speaker 1: especially because it's Chopper who is experiencing this, Chopper is
- 53:05Speaker 1: so overlooked by so many people. I mean, his fringing,
- 53:08Speaker 1: his bounty is like five berries or something incredibly insulting.
- 53:15Speaker 1: And so I won't lie. Guys. When she was impressed
- 53:20Speaker 1: with him at this juncture, I was very like, see,
- 53:24Speaker 1: thank you. Oh finally somebody appreciates him, you know, And
- 53:30Speaker 1: I know, I know, I know, but I can't help it.
- 53:35Speaker 1: It's just I want somebody to see how useful and
- 53:41Speaker 1: great he is. And it's just a very probably one
- 53:45Speaker 1: would consider it toxic mindset to have, but you know, like,
- 53:51Speaker 1: oh well, so anyway, this is like all of this
- 53:58Speaker 1: is the story is being told to us, like when
- 54:01Speaker 1: we're seeing Bruet and she's informing us about how things
- 54:06Speaker 1: work in big mom's world. She is in a flashback
- 54:15Speaker 1: and Nammy is looking up and being just like attacked
- 54:19Speaker 1: by all of these There's like flowers jumping on her,
- 54:24Speaker 1: and one of them jumps on her stomach and is
- 54:26Speaker 1: moving in this way that I think is supposed to
- 54:29Speaker 1: suggest that it's trying to bite her. It doesn't seem
- 54:32Speaker 1: to succeed though, it's just sort of like attempting to
- 54:36Speaker 1: do it. And Chopper is the one who's like, all right, look,
- 54:40Speaker 1: this is serious. They work for big moms, so we
- 54:43Speaker 1: can't take this lightly. I'm gonna hold them off. You
- 54:47Speaker 1: have got to go tell Loofy and let him know
- 54:50Speaker 1: what's happening. And so he is still fighting her when
- 54:58Speaker 1: Nami runs away, and this is when she's like, where
- 55:04Speaker 1: did Chopper go? And Carrot and this dude. I can't
- 55:08Speaker 1: get over this giant guy because he's got this like
- 55:12Speaker 1: rough under his neck and everything, and I don't know
- 55:16Speaker 1: if it's that he's buried or if it's that he's
- 55:19Speaker 1: like actually cut into pieces or what. Yeah, So trying
- 55:26Speaker 1: to find the spot here. Oh yeah, I forgot about
- 55:29Speaker 1: this aspect as well. So first of all, everything that's
- 55:33Speaker 1: been animated by these bits of by these bits of
- 55:38Speaker 1: spirit are called homies. I don't I don't know if
- 55:46Speaker 1: this is just like a dub thing or if Oda
- 55:50Speaker 1: knew and sort of did this on purpose, But I
- 55:55Speaker 1: just want to register how fucking funny that is to me.
- 56:00Speaker 1: I'm so sorry, really, okay, you know what, I'm not
- 56:05Speaker 1: mad about it. Guys, do you remember homies? The little
- 56:09Speaker 1: like dudes that you would put a nickel into the machine.
- 56:14Speaker 1: They would come in those little eggs and you could
- 56:17Speaker 1: get them out of like the vending machine, things like
- 56:19Speaker 1: a gumball basically, and they were called homies and they
- 56:22Speaker 1: were all like little little dudes. I there is something
- 56:28Speaker 1: about these being named the same way that tickled me
- 56:33Speaker 1: a lot. I found that shit very very funny. And
- 56:37Speaker 1: uh yeah, I it's just it's great and I just
- 56:45Speaker 1: never change it. Personally, I love it. But then the
- 56:50Speaker 1: other thing that he mentions is, uh, this collection and
- 56:55Speaker 1: distribution of Lifespan is operated by Big Mom's incarnations that
- 57:02Speaker 1: are made up of her own soul. And we see
- 57:06Speaker 1: these little dudes that are sort of shaped like a
- 57:10Speaker 1: cartoon ghost, but they're black instead of white, and they
- 57:14Speaker 1: have white eyes. Pretty spooky looking, well done in my opinion.
- 57:22Speaker 1: I love this so much. I really I don't know
- 57:31Speaker 1: exactly how to what to expect from them in terms
- 57:38Speaker 1: of their capabilities, but the fact that she can do
- 57:42Speaker 1: this with her own soul was something that I had
- 57:45Speaker 1: never considered. And it doesn't seem that she doesn't have
- 57:48Speaker 1: to put those pieces into any other vessel. They can
- 57:52Speaker 1: just function on their own, which is bonkers, Like what, how,
- 58:00Speaker 1: oh how corporeal are they? It seems like probably she
- 58:05Speaker 1: just uses them for this task because they aren't corporeal,
- 58:12Speaker 1: and so they are able to touch the pieces of
- 58:15Speaker 1: soul which also are not corporeal. So that's sort of
- 58:18Speaker 1: what I'm trusting is going on with it. But I
- 58:22Speaker 1: might be wrong, Like I don't know, you know, it
- 58:25Speaker 1: just I was very very fascinated by this whole idea
- 58:31Speaker 1: and concept, and for myself, the fact that she can
- 58:38Speaker 1: do this to her own soul is it's such a
- 58:43Speaker 1: neat idea that I don't know if I would have
- 58:46Speaker 1: thought of, you know what I'm saying, Like, I don't know.
- 58:50Speaker 1: I am interested and appalled, I guess is my reaction,
- 58:56Speaker 1: and something that probably could be quoted for a lot
- 58:59Speaker 1: of this show is just simply interested and appalled and
- 59:04Speaker 1: I acknowledge this, So all right, I'm out of time.
- 59:10Speaker 1: I think I've talked about pretty much everything. I'm just
- 59:13Speaker 1: trying to scrub through real quick to make sure. Oh
- 59:16Speaker 1: oh right, Brule uses her ability to turn normal animals
- 59:19Speaker 1: into decoy people to throw you off. So apparently this
- 59:25Speaker 1: is a function of having eaten or the yeah, eaten
- 59:29Speaker 1: the mirror mirror fruit is that she can like create
- 59:32Speaker 1: mirror images of you or people. It's unclear. I'm assuming
- 59:39Speaker 1: that she's like met Sanji and so that's how she
- 59:42Speaker 1: does it. Like probably she has to have seen you
- 59:45Speaker 1: in order to make a copy of you. I'm imagining
- 59:48Speaker 1: that's like a requirement. But all of these these so
- 59:55Speaker 1: called friends that Lufy has been gathering up and putting
- 59:58Speaker 1: into a pile are just regular like forest creatures that
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: are made to look like mirror images. But they're just animals.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: So they're all very like valid in their anger toward
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: him for capturing them, because you know, it's just imagine
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: like capturing a bunch of raccoons and then just like
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: tying them up and throwing them in a pile on
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: top of each other. Yeah, you'd be pissed. You'd be
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: very annoyed by it, so fair. All right, guys, I
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: have got to wrap this up, but I'm having a
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: great time. I really liked this, super fun. I hope
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: that y'all are having fun listening, and I'm looking forward
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: to watching more. Thank you again, Bernadette for commissioning this
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: one and the last one, and until next time to
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: the Loo, motherfuckers. That was an unspoiled Network podcast.
