  Speaker 1: Good morning. As we head into Tuesday, we want to

  Speaker 1: that is with some time with God. We stop for

  Speaker 1: a minute, we read the Bible, listen to what God

  Speaker 1: is saying to us about our lives, and shape our

  Speaker 1: lives around God's plan for us.

  Speaker 1: We're talking this week about what the Bible means, what
• 0:30
  Speaker 1: Jesus meant when He said make disciples of all the nations.

  Speaker 1: What did he mean by that? I mean, is that
• 0:39
  Speaker 1: just something for missionaries who are going overseas to share
• 0:43
  Speaker 1: with people about Jesus, or is that something for our
• 0:45
  Speaker 1: own lives? If you're a follower of Jesus, what does
• 0:49
  Speaker 1: it mean to make disciples?

  Speaker 1: If you're not a follower of Jesus, how do you
• 0:54
  Speaker 1: get involved in this idea of disciple making? Well, we
• 0:58
  Speaker 1: saw yesterday you start that process by becoming a disciple,

  Speaker 1: a follower of Jesus, turning to God and saying, God,
• 1:07
  Speaker 1: I just seem to be making a mess of my
• 1:09
  Speaker 1: own life. Is.

  Speaker 1: Desperately need you, and I thank you for what you've
• 1:14
  Speaker 1: done when Jesus came and died on the cross to
• 1:19
  Speaker 1: take the penalty for my sins and open the door
• 1:22
  Speaker 1: for me to have a relationship with you. I need you,
• 1:27
  Speaker 1: and I'm going to become a follower of Jesus. Well,
• 1:32
  Speaker 1: that's the first step. You become a disciple, a follower
• 1:35
  Speaker 1: of Jesus.

  Speaker 1: The second step of disciple making is that you develop
• 1:43
  Speaker 1: the practises of a disciple.

  Speaker 1: When you look at Jesus' relationship with the new believers,
• 1:50
  Speaker 1: his new followers in the Gospels in the Bible, what
• 1:55
  Speaker 1: you see is that when people became followers of Jesus,
• 1:59
  Speaker 1: He very intentionally helped them to build several different practises
• 2:05
  Speaker 1: into their lives, spiritual practises that would become the foundation
• 2:11
  Speaker 1: for their life and ministry.

  Speaker 1: He taught them how important it is to build their
• 2:19
  Speaker 1: life on a prayer relationship with God. Don't think of
• 2:24
  Speaker 1: prayer as somebody in robes saying some kind of old
• 2:30
  Speaker 1: English from the front of church and think, Oh, that's
• 2:34
  Speaker 1: so weird. I couldn't do that. Think of prayer as
• 2:37
  Speaker 1: you talking just like you would talk to anyone else
• 2:40
  Speaker 1: in your life, but your talking to God.

  Speaker 1: You're opening up because he already knows everything going on
• 2:46
  Speaker 1: in your life and your heart, and you're sharing with Him.

  Speaker 1: Here's how I feel. Here's what's going on. I need help.

  Speaker 1: Please be at work in my life and not only
• 2:56
  Speaker 1: talking to him but also listening to him, opening your
• 3:00
  Speaker 1: Bible every day and letting God speak into your life.

  Speaker 1: This practise of praying with your Bible open.

  Speaker 1: Either on your Bible app or a paper Bible and
• 3:15
  Speaker 1: listening to God, responding to what He says to you
• 3:19
  Speaker 1: and bringing all the issues of your life to Him,
• 3:22
  Speaker 1: this practise is a practise that builds a relationship with
• 3:28
  Speaker 1: God and becomes one of the foundations of your life.

  Speaker 1: The importance also of building intentional relationships with the people
• 3:39
  Speaker 1: around you, finding other people who are disciples of Jesus,
• 3:44
  Speaker 1: spending time with them, studying the Bible together, also just
• 3:48
  Speaker 1: talking about life and what it means to follow God.

  Speaker 1: These practises that you build into your life learning to
• 3:57
  Speaker 1: depend on God rather than yourself for the situations of life,

  Speaker 1: these practises build into you what a disciple needs to
• 4:08
  Speaker 1: follow Jesus. I'm John North.
