Good morning and a warm welcome to your show,

Sunny Mornings in Boston. I'm your host, Melissa,

and it's Wednesday, February 4th. You'll be interested
• 0:13
to know. Like 22 years ago, today, in 2004, a
• 0:19
group of Harvard students launched a social networking
• 0:22
site that let college peers create profiles and
• 0:25
connect across campus. The platform rapidly reshaped
• 0:30
online social interaction by making networking
• 0:32
personal, scalable, and central to how people
• 0:36
shared news and built communities. Today, we
• 0:39
call that social network Facebook. So now you
• 0:44
know. And now, it's time for the weather report.
• 0:51

west wind at 6. For all you beach runners out
• 1:21
there, the first low tide Wednesday will be just
• 1:24
after 630, with a high tide just before 1. The
• 1:28
nearshore buoy at Cape Cod Bay reads 33 degrees
• 1:33
for the water temperature. Looking ahead in the
• 1:37
weather, Thursday will be sunny with a high near
• 1:40
29 and light northwest winds around 6 miles per
• 1:44
hour, turning partly cloudy overnight with a

• 2:48
was rocked Tuesday night as multiple manholes
• 2:51
exploded and caught fire, prompting the evacuation
• 2:55
of Newbury Street and other nearby roadways.
• 2:58
The chaos began with a call to Boston police
• 3:01
  shortly after 5 .20 p .m. about a manhole fire
• 3:04
at the intersection of Dartmouth and Newbury
• 3:07
Streets. Deputy Fire Chief James Green confirmed
• 3:11
that at least six manholes exploded in succession,
• 3:14
though no injuries were reported. Authorities
• 3:17
believe the issue appears to be electrical in
• 3:20
nature, and Eversource is currently troubleshooting
• 3:23
the situation. As a precaution, power has been
• 3:27
cut to some buildings, while police and firefighters
• 3:30
ensure public safety in the area. Now on to sports.

• 3:53
11 -time All -Star, has worked through his exit
• 3:56
with the Clippers, who are currently 23 wins
• 3:59
and 26 losses. This trade offers a win -now opportunity
• 4:04
for Harden, who is performing well at 36 years
• 4:07
old, while Garland, at 26, can contribute now
• 4:11
and in the future. The Cavaliers hope Harden's
• 4:14
addition will boost their chances of contending
• 4:17
for a title in the Eastern Conference. In local
• 4:21
sports, Jalen Brown led the Seas with 33 points
• 4:25
and 11 rebounds. defeating the Mavericks 110

for Dallas, scoring 36 points in his first matchup
• 4:37
against the team he grew up cheering for. Peyton
• 4:40
Pritchard added 26 points for Boston, which made
• 4:43
a trade earlier in the day, acquiring Nikola
• 4:47
Vucevic for Anfernee Simons. The Seas dominated
• 4:51
the game, leading by as many as 23 points in
• 4:54
the second half. Next up, the Celtics head to
• 4:57
Houston to wrap up their quick road trip in Texas.
• 5:02
In top news, the National Football League Players
• 5:06
  Association is closely monitoring electromagnetic
• 5:09
field issues at Levi's Stadium, where the Super
• 5:12
Bowl will take place on Sunday. This comes after
• 5:16
  players expressed concerns about electromagnetic
• 5:18
interference. stated that players want more data
• 5:25
and more feedback. The New England Patriots will
• 5:29
face the Seattle Seahawks at the stadium, located
• 5:32
near an electrical substation operated by Silicon
• 5:36
Valley Power in Santa Clara, California. Concerns
• 5:41
about potential harmful effects gained traction
• 5:43
during the San Francisco 49ers regular season.
• 5:47
David White, interim executive director of the
• 5:50
NFLPA, mentioned that experts have said there
• 5:53
is nothing to be concerned about. In business
• 5:58
news, Disney has named Josh D 'Amaro as its new
• 6:03
chief executive officer, putting him in charge
• 6:06
of theme parks and cruise ships, which are the
• 6:09
company's biggest profit sources, atop America's
• 6:12
best -known entertainment brand. D 'Amaro will
• 6:16
succeed Bob Eger, becoming the ninth leader of
• 6:19
Disney in its 102 -year history. Shareholders
• 6:23
expect D 'Amaro to lay out and execute a growth
• 6:26
plan, as the company's stock price has declined
• 6:29
by nearly half since its 2021 high. Disney is
• 6:34
spending $60 billion to grow its theme parks
• 6:37
and cruise businesses by the year 2033. Di Amaro's
• 6:42
vision includes giving video games a bigger role
• 6:45
at the company in crypto movement. Bitcoin is
• 6:49
down 3 % to about $76 ,000. Ethereum is down
• 6:55
  2 .5 % to about $2 ,000. And XRP is down 1 %

• 7:52
Let's talk science. Space tourism raises urgent
• 7:56
fertility questions, NASA says. As more people
• 8:00
travel beyond Earth, scientists warn that risks
• 8:03
to reproductive health from zero gravity and
• 8:06
  radiation remain little understood. According
• 8:09
to a new study overseen by Fatih Karuia, what
• 8:13
spaceflight does to human fertility remains dangerously
• 8:17
under -examined. As commercial flights become
• 8:20
more common, guidelines are needed before things
• 8:23
get out of hand. Weightlessness weakens bones
• 8:26
and muscles, and radiation levels are far higher
• 8:29
than on Earth. The authors stress they are not
• 8:32
advocating for reproduction in space. But waiting
• 8:35
until something goes wrong would be irresponsible.
• 8:41
And in entertainment news, The Night Agent is
• 8:45
returning for its third season on February 19th.
• 8:49
This popular Netflix spy drama first premiered
• 8:52
in 2023 following FBI agent Peter Sutherland,
• 8:58
played by Gabriel Basso, as he navigates political
• 9:01
leaks and dangerous secrets. Vasso expressed
• 9:05
his excitement on Instagram, stating, I can honestly
• 9:09
say I'm blown away by the level of interest that
• 9:11
everyone has shown in the show. The season two
• 9:15
finale ended with Peter and his allies thwarting
• 9:18
a major attack at the United Nations headquarters
• 9:20
in New York City. Fans can expect more thrilling
• 9:24
conspiracies and new cast members in this upcoming
• 9:27
season. Well, all righty folks, it's time for
• 9:31
