Latest / The Daily Writer / Life is Not a Multiple-Choice Test
Transcript
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Daily Rider, where we share a lesson each day to help you cultivate the habits for creative success.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: There's a common trait among successful writers, and it has nothing to do with skill, talent, genre, or style of writing.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Instead, it has everything to do with taking responsibility for your own life choices.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: You see, most people are passive observers to their own lives.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: They accept the choices that life hands to them.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: They assume that what they see other people doing is what they should also be doing.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: They go along with the crowd, they never rock the boat, and they never achieve their dreams.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: On the other hand, successful writers know that life is not a multiple choice test.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: If they don't like the options in front of them, they just create new ones.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: But how do we do this?
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Well, we do this by taking advantage of all the amazing opportunities that we have today as writers.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: There's an almost unlimited number of opportunities for you to get your work in front of readers and also make a good living while doing it if that's something that you want to do.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Let's face it, it's hard to strike out on your own pathway while everybody else around you is conforming to social norms, while everybody else is doing what other people expect, while everybody else is not writing books or putting the work in to build their own business.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Well, of course it's a huge challenge.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Nobody said this was going to be easy, but if you're going to make something happen with your writing, this is not the time to be passive.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: This is not the time to limit your options.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: The world is a giant buffet of opportunity.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Will you take advantage of it?
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: I want to take a moment to let you know about our daily writer membership community.
