- 0:12Speaker 1: brought to you by a revolt. Tell you out of
- 0:14Speaker 1: the building.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Welcome to the show.
- 0:18Speaker 3: What's good?
- 0:20Speaker 1: Now? This? You know how this happened. I was checking
- 0:23Speaker 1: my bag headed to the airport and I saw her.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I was like, what the hell are you doing? But
- 0:27Speaker 1: she got a shortcut. I'm not gonna say the shortcut
- 0:30Speaker 1: because everybody gonna start doing the shortcut to check your bags.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Don't even reply, don't say nothing, because you're gonna make
- 0:36Speaker 1: the You're gonna blow up the spot. Okay, at the
- 0:38Speaker 1: Atlanta airport is a short cut.
- 0:41Speaker 2: And we saw Atlanta Airport and I already know what
- 0:45Speaker 2: the shortcut.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I thought, you saw. What's the short cut to check
- 0:50Speaker 1: your bags in Atlanta?
- 0:51Speaker 2: You know, I don't know?
- 0:53Speaker 1: Tell us, tell us when we go to commercial.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Okay, now you're going, man, I'm good.
- 0:57Speaker 3: I can't complain living life death.
- 1:00Speaker 1: You are now. I do want to bring it all
- 1:04Speaker 1: the way, you know, from the start to finish. Now
- 1:06Speaker 1: you're from North.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Carolina, North Carolina.
- 1:09Speaker 1: You went to the same high school as Michael Jordan. Yep,
- 1:11Speaker 1: absolutely is it Cheney Cheney Laney Laney I got. I
- 1:16Speaker 1: got the Jordan five's that came out in the color
- 1:17Speaker 1: in the colorway exactly.
- 1:19Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Anyway, so you went to Laney High School? Say, now
- 1:23Speaker 1: can you explain that? Like is it like does he
- 1:25Speaker 1: have a statue out there like.
- 1:26Speaker 3: He does and his jersey is up my jersey?
- 1:29Speaker 1: Hey?
- 1:33Speaker 3: Yeah, And so you know, they got his emblem on
- 1:36Speaker 3: the floor, the players get Jordan gear. They got all
- 1:40Speaker 3: his you know, accolades and stuff in the little trophy cases.
- 1:42Speaker 3: So it's dope.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Now standing at six two, how long have you been
- 1:47Speaker 1: playing basketball? Like? What age did you start?
- 1:51Speaker 3: For real? For real? Maybe like nine? Okay, But when
- 1:55Speaker 3: I was little, I used to go outside and play
- 1:56Speaker 3: with my brother and my sister. I always wanted to
- 1:58Speaker 3: be like my brother growing up as a kid, so
- 2:01Speaker 3: I played with them. But when I first played for
- 2:03Speaker 3: the girls club, I was like maybe ten eleven.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Were you like the tallest girl?
- 2:08Speaker 3: Then I was actually short. I hit a Grosberg. So
- 2:11Speaker 3: that's why I started off as a point guard because
- 2:13Speaker 3: I was short, and then I hit a Grospert. They
- 2:16Speaker 3: started trying to put me in the wing, put me
- 2:17Speaker 3: on the post, which helped me become more versatile as
- 2:20Speaker 3: I got older. But as a younger and I'm like,
- 2:22Speaker 3: I'm a guard, I'm not getting the post. I want
- 2:24Speaker 3: the ball. I'm not waiting for the ball. But it
- 2:27Speaker 3: worked out for me for my career to be more versatile.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Now, when did you hit your gro spert? Like and
- 2:32Speaker 2: how like? How does that work? I never hit a
- 2:34Speaker 2: groc sper.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I was tall in fifth grade and then that was it.
- 2:37Speaker 2: That was it. You just started.
- 2:38Speaker 4: You start seeing everybody gets taller than you be like, well,
- 2:41Speaker 4: maybe I don't need to be playing.
- 2:43Speaker 3: So it's crazy because my sister was tall and I
- 2:46Speaker 3: was short, and now I'm six two of my sister's
- 2:49Speaker 3: five three and a half. Really yeah, so it's like
- 2:51Speaker 3: I just hit a grosper in high school. I don't
- 2:53Speaker 3: know how it happened. You know, maybe God just knew
- 2:56Speaker 3: that I needed to make it to the league. I
- 2:59Speaker 3: don't know how what happened.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Okay, Now, going to Laney High School, did you guys
- 3:06Speaker 1: have like a surplus of recruitment there because that was
- 3:09Speaker 1: Jordan's school or was it? No?
- 3:11Speaker 3: Not at all. My sister is three years older than me.
- 3:14Speaker 3: She wanted to go there, so we used our auntie's
- 3:16Speaker 3: address to go there. And so then like we all did,
- 3:19Speaker 3: so I had to go there because my sister went there.
- 3:22Speaker 3: My brother went to a school in the country because
- 3:24Speaker 3: he lived with my father when my parents split. So
- 3:26Speaker 3: it wasn't like a recruitment. It wasn't even about basketball.
- 3:29Speaker 3: It was more so just following my sister footsteps.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Wow, okay, now going to college, how was that for you? Like? Now,
- 3:38Speaker 1: because you got a full scholarship to play basketball, how
- 3:42Speaker 1: was that for you?
- 3:43Speaker 2: Like?
- 3:43Speaker 1: And what was the something that you was like, damn,
- 3:45Speaker 1: you know, I like this or I don't like this.
- 3:48Speaker 3: So it was a recruitment process. I had a lot
- 3:50Speaker 3: of colleges sending me prospect letters, but it was more
- 3:53Speaker 3: so about how the coach and the team made me feel.
- 3:57Speaker 3: I didn't want to go to a school where I
- 4:00Speaker 3: would have to sit the bench, you know, because the
- 4:02Speaker 3: top schools a lot of the new recruits they're having
- 4:04Speaker 3: to earn and wait. I wanted to go and make
- 4:06Speaker 3: an initial impact. I wanted to go make a difference.
- 4:09Speaker 3: And so when I chose James Madison, that's what it was.
- 4:11Speaker 3: It was unheard of. I never even heard of it
- 4:14Speaker 3: until you know they were recruiting me.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Where's James Manson.
- 4:16Speaker 3: And Harrison Burd Virginia?
- 4:17Speaker 2: Okay?
- 4:18Speaker 3: So I never heard of it, but I believed in
- 4:20Speaker 3: the coach when I got there, the team, the campus
- 4:23Speaker 3: was beautiful, and I didn't want to go too close
- 4:25Speaker 3: to home, so out of my top five when I
- 4:28Speaker 3: went on my visit, I just felt that was the
- 4:31Speaker 3: decision that was the choice for me and it worked out.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Now, when you said that you didn't want to go
- 4:36Speaker 4: to like the top schools, did you actually go visit
- 4:39Speaker 4: those top schools?
- 4:40Speaker 3: So one of my favorite schools was Carolina. Okay, So
- 4:44Speaker 3: as a kid, I'm from North Carolina. They used to
- 4:46Speaker 3: send letters to come to their camps, but four twenty
- 4:50Speaker 3: five for a camp. Growing up from my mother, we
- 4:52Speaker 3: couldn't afford that, so I never went. I went to
- 4:55Speaker 3: NC State, which we had like something for our team.
- 4:58Speaker 3: We always went to NC State and I did like
- 5:00Speaker 3: in C State, but when it came to recruitment, those
- 5:03Speaker 3: schools wasn't recruiting me, not until I've already basically committed
- 5:08Speaker 3: to JMU and we was playing in the All Star Game,
- 5:10Speaker 3: the North Carolina All Star Game, and my family heard
- 5:14Speaker 3: the coach that was at Carolina asking about me. But
- 5:18Speaker 3: it's too late now, you know. So it was one
- 5:21Speaker 3: of those things where it was like those were one
- 5:23Speaker 3: of my my favorite schools, but they wasn't recruiting me,
- 5:26Speaker 3: so I had to go where I was wanted.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Hello, and you did really good because number eighth pick,
- 5:34Speaker 1: first round Atlanta Dream. Yeah yeah, yeah, you didn't spend
- 5:37Speaker 1: ma Jory of your career. You spend MAJORI your career
- 5:39Speaker 1: in Chicago, but you know, we were definitely pleased to
- 5:43Speaker 1: have you in Atlanta.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I love the A.
- 5:47Speaker 1: What was that experience like being the eighth pit and
- 5:49Speaker 1: then coming to Atlanta.
- 5:51Speaker 3: It was so crazy, right because I knew I would
- 5:54Speaker 3: be a top pick, but it's like I didn't know where, when, what,
- 5:58Speaker 3: And so I have never been to Atlanta. So here
- 6:01Speaker 3: I am coming from college, I get drafted, boom, they
- 6:04Speaker 3: fly me out first class. I never flew first class.
- 6:06Speaker 3: So I'm like, oh, I'm living to dream. Yeah, I
- 6:11Speaker 3: like this is lit. Yeah, and so I came. They
- 6:14Speaker 3: took me around the city and just moving here and
- 6:16Speaker 3: being on my own. It was different because I didn't
- 6:18Speaker 3: really know a lot of people here, but it was
- 6:21Speaker 3: a dream come true. And so like ever since then,
- 6:24Speaker 3: Atlanta has always been my primary residence.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Okay, so even though you because you were in Chicago
- 6:30Speaker 1: for nine years, years.
- 6:31Speaker 3: In Vegas for two years, okay, but my home has
- 6:34Speaker 3: always been here.
- 6:35Speaker 4: Now, how how does it feel when you get drafted?
- 6:38Speaker 4: Like does it feel like a movie like Two K? Like,
- 6:42Speaker 4: how does it feel that moment you get drafted? Because
- 6:44Speaker 4: I played two K and you know, like when they
- 6:47Speaker 4: do all the theatrical stuff, I imagine this is probably how
- 6:50Speaker 4: it feels to go to the league.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Yeah, like it feels it feels surreal. You know, it's
- 6:54Speaker 3: like they call me your name, everybody's like celebrating you,
- 6:57Speaker 3: like damn, like Mama, we really made it. You know,
- 7:00Speaker 3: like it's surreal. Like it's an undescribable thing because even
- 7:04Speaker 3: trying to think back now and relive it is just
- 7:06Speaker 3: like you can't. It's like just that moment, it was
- 7:09Speaker 3: just crazy.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Yeah, you get a bunch of new cousins.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Man.
- 7:12Speaker 1: My phone was the family immediately thinking, oh yeah we
- 7:16Speaker 1: rich were good.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Not my immediate family, but the other people. Oh, they
- 7:19Speaker 3: had all kind of room and she's making eight hundred thousand.
- 7:22Speaker 3: She's rich. I'm like, they have no idea what the
- 7:25Speaker 3: rookie salary was. And at that time, for me, because
- 7:27Speaker 3: I was a top pick, it was forty thousand, which
- 7:30Speaker 3: a year. Yeah, the for the four months that I'm
- 7:33Speaker 3: in Yeah, during that time, I am making more money
- 7:37Speaker 3: than my mother. You know, as a twenty one year
- 7:39Speaker 3: old kid. It's like, oh, I'm good. You know, you're
- 7:41Speaker 3: going from making fifteen getting fifteen hundred for a pelgram
- 7:45Speaker 3: in college, so now I'm getting none of that nothing.
- 7:51Speaker 3: So you're getting forty thousand for four months for a
- 7:54Speaker 3: twenty one year old I'm like, oh, I am kind
- 7:55Speaker 3: of rich, you know, but not really.
- 7:58Speaker 1: So yeah, really we're gonna go to commercial. Uh, Tale
- 8:03Speaker 1: Young is in the building, Ferrari Simmons, you know BT, Yeah,
- 8:07Speaker 1: Baller on Revolt.
- 8:08Speaker 4: That's right, and we are back ball Alert TV right
- 8:11Speaker 4: here on Revote TV, you know BT Forri Simmons.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Tie Young is in the building.
- 8:15Speaker 4: And we're over here talking about how you got drafted
- 8:17Speaker 4: and how that made you feel. So was there some
- 8:20Speaker 4: cousins and people that you just had to just block?
- 8:25Speaker 3: I wasn't blocking, but from then to now, I probably
- 8:29Speaker 3: changed my number about twenty times.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Twenty times.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Damn, that might be me being modest. I probably changed
- 8:35Speaker 3: it more than that.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Damn.
- 8:38Speaker 4: I can't even imagine like having that, having that type
- 8:41Speaker 4: of you know pressure. So when you came to Atlanta, Uh,
- 8:45Speaker 4: what was your take when you first, you know, got
- 8:48Speaker 4: in the team practice and you started me and your
- 8:50Speaker 4: teammates and everything.
- 8:52Speaker 3: They were strong, like stronger man. I was running into
- 8:56Speaker 3: every screen like a ping pompom. The pace was fast,
- 9:00Speaker 3: so you know, it was it was tough to adapt to,
- 9:03Speaker 3: especially for me coming from a mid major. So in
- 9:06Speaker 3: a mid major, I'm not even playing playing the top
- 9:09Speaker 3: players all the time. You know. My my coach was
- 9:11Speaker 3: set up games for non conference to play some of
- 9:13Speaker 3: the top teams. But it was a big adjustment. And
- 9:17Speaker 3: that's why even now, as talented and as good as
- 9:20Speaker 3: a lot of these college players are, I always say
- 9:22Speaker 3: it's an adjustment. Like the league is grown women. They're stronger,
- 9:25Speaker 3: and the pace is faster.
- 9:27Speaker 1: And they got mortgage just to pay and you ain't
- 9:29Speaker 1: taking the spot. You ain't taking the spot. That was
- 9:32Speaker 1: that movie He loving Basketball, She left the weights on
- 9:38Speaker 1: the chest.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Yeah exactly.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Yeah, you here, you only here because that's got hurt shout.
- 9:42Speaker 3: As a rookie. They sized you up for sure, like
- 9:44Speaker 3: you ain't coming from my spot, especially from a vet
- 9:47Speaker 3: to a rookie. And I was a top pick. Oh yeah, no,
- 9:50Speaker 3: they had a.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Boy because you number eight. Yeah, you're coming in with
- 9:53Speaker 1: some cash.
- 9:54Speaker 4: And they know if you're their first round, somebody gotta go.
- 9:59Speaker 2: No, somebody gotta go because you're taking somebody spot.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Yeah, it was tough now time is.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I just said, I like some ladies. How was that
- 10:12Speaker 1: when you moved to Atlanta? Because it's not it's just beautiful.
- 10:15Speaker 1: It's beautiful women everywhere.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:17Speaker 3: So when I first got drafted, I did have a
- 10:22Speaker 3: girlfriend at the time. I had to think I had
- 10:23Speaker 3: a girlfriend at the time, but I still was uh
- 10:26Speaker 3: dating men. Wait yeah she said what she said, not
- 10:31Speaker 3: go ahead, not not while I'm with my girl.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Oh okay I was.
- 10:36Speaker 3: I was like yeah, but I was still like I
- 10:38Speaker 3: still was attracted to men.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Okay.
- 10:41Speaker 3: So yeah, and the guys were after me when I
- 10:44Speaker 3: was drafted here.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I mean, can you fly you're putting that, you're putting it.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Out a list. Celebrities too, was after me. I ain't
- 10:51Speaker 3: gonna name drop but for sure. Okay, but I had
- 10:53Speaker 3: a girl, you know, so it didn't last long after
- 10:56Speaker 3: I was in the league. She was still in college.
- 10:58Speaker 2: But yeah, you forgot all about it.
- 11:00Speaker 3: I didn't. But she tried to play a game, you know.
- 11:03Speaker 3: So you know people try to play a game. You
- 11:05Speaker 3: can't play a game with me because I'm play a
- 11:06Speaker 3: game back we got now, we got two controllers, Sega Genesis.
- 11:13Speaker 1: What was the moment that made you say, because you
- 11:15Speaker 1: said I used to that's past tense. Now, what was
- 11:18Speaker 1: the moment that made you say, you know what, I'm
- 11:21Speaker 1: just rocking with the ladies.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Now, I just realized I like women more. I'm like
- 11:25Speaker 3: even now, like I find God's attractive. But I'm not
- 11:28Speaker 3: sleeping with them. I'm not dating them, you know. I
- 11:30Speaker 3: just like women more, and I don't want to go
- 11:33Speaker 3: back and forth. That's not for me, you know, So
- 11:36Speaker 3: I just chose the women.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Okay, it was just a random thought one day.
- 11:39Speaker 4: Yeah, or you I'm dealing with someone, he be like,
- 11:42Speaker 4: I want somebody made you mad?
- 11:45Speaker 2: This dude made you mad and was like, yeah, I'm
- 11:47Speaker 2: cool with dealing with nah.
- 11:48Speaker 3: I like, you know, God, criminals, I mean, women, women
- 11:51Speaker 3: are women steky. Women cheat men, you know, like, so
- 11:55Speaker 3: I don't. I never understand when they're like, oh, you know,
- 11:59Speaker 3: this guy hurts me, So now I want to date
- 12:01Speaker 3: women because a woman can hurt you too. It's just
- 12:03Speaker 3: my preference, Like I like women more so that's what
- 12:06Speaker 3: I chose to date and to be with.
- 12:09Speaker 4: That is interesting when people when people have a switch,
- 12:12Speaker 4: just as like I don't want to date a man
- 12:14Speaker 4: because he hurt me, and then you just said, well,
- 12:16Speaker 4: a woman can hurt you too. Like I always wonder
- 12:19Speaker 4: what made people like, you know, really really take it
- 12:22Speaker 4: there to be like you know what this this.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Is the last hurt.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'm converting. I mean, even as lesbian, i'd
- 12:28Speaker 3: be feeling the same. I'm like, okay, I guess I
- 12:31Speaker 3: don't even get into it with people.
- 12:34Speaker 1: All right. So you're in Atlanta two seasons and you
- 12:38Speaker 1: get traded.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Well it was yeah it was halfway through my second season.
- 12:43Speaker 1: H wow, So halfway in your second season you get
- 12:46Speaker 1: traded to Chicago.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Who you make mad?
- 12:49Speaker 1: What happened?
- 12:49Speaker 3: So I was asking for a trade prior, right, gotcha Detroit.
- 12:56Speaker 3: They wanted me. Their player that was in my position
- 12:59Speaker 3: got hurt. So I'm asking to be traded because my agent,
- 13:02Speaker 3: you know, he was having a conversation, but my coach
- 13:04Speaker 3: wasn't here for it. She's like, she's happy. Mind you.
- 13:07Speaker 3: I went from playing twenty some minutes my first year
- 13:09Speaker 3: to like maybe five to nine minutes my second year.
- 13:13Speaker 3: So yeah, I'm pissed. I'm sitting on the jump now,
- 13:15Speaker 3: and you know, I'm not used to sitting on the bench.
- 13:17Speaker 3: And so I had a conversation with my coach and
- 13:19Speaker 3: she's like, no, I'm not trading you. You have so
- 13:21Speaker 3: much potential, you know, like I have a veteran that's
- 13:24Speaker 3: sitting the bench. I'm like, that's her. I didn't work
- 13:26Speaker 3: this hard to be a cheerleader. Like, so, why don't
- 13:29Speaker 3: you trade me here to a team that wants to me?
- 13:30Speaker 3: And she said, no, I'm not trading you. So randomly,
- 13:33Speaker 3: one day, I'm on my way to the mall and
- 13:35Speaker 3: she calls me and says she's trading me to Chicago. Like,
- 13:39Speaker 3: I never asked to go to Chicago. How do we
- 13:41Speaker 3: get here?
- 13:41Speaker 2: You're like, I want to go to Detroit.
- 13:43Speaker 3: Yeah. But during that time, the person they traded me
- 13:46Speaker 3: for college coach was my assistant coach. So it worked
- 13:50Speaker 3: out more in their favor, you know. So that's how
- 13:54Speaker 3: that trade happened.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Now, so you go to the windy City, shy town, Yeah,
- 13:58Speaker 1: how's that because Chicago, Nobody just says I'm going to Chicago.
- 14:04Speaker 2: It was family there.
- 14:05Speaker 3: I didn't have no.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Family, No disrespect Chicago.
- 14:09Speaker 3: I love Chicago.
- 14:10Speaker 1: We love Chicago. The best food in the city, the
- 14:13Speaker 1: Chicago Bears, the White Sox, we get it.
- 14:17Speaker 2: We get it. They're not gonna They're not gonna come.
- 14:19Speaker 5: No folks come for you. People walk up to us,
- 14:28Speaker 5: especially if we got to get in Chicago.
- 14:30Speaker 1: We go there, they can walk up. I was just saying,
- 14:34Speaker 1: you get real cold. My boy dad hester played for
- 14:36Speaker 1: the Chicago Bears. WI Yeah, I just want to make
- 14:39Speaker 1: sure all cool.
- 14:40Speaker 3: I don't got nothing to do with that.
- 14:43Speaker 1: So when you get to Chicago, I had.
- 14:46Speaker 3: No idea what's going on. Like I've never been except
- 14:49Speaker 3: when I played there. I did have an auntie that
- 14:51Speaker 3: lived there.
- 14:52Speaker 1: City. That's the third largest market in the country.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Cute city. And we lived right downtown too, So it
- 14:57Speaker 3: was beautiful. It was fun, but I had to, you know,
- 15:00Speaker 3: have my teammates showed me around a little bit.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Now, how was it was it popping.
- 15:05Speaker 3: It was popping. They had some cool day parties. They
- 15:08Speaker 3: had the great food. I haven't been to a restaurant
- 15:10Speaker 3: in Chicago where I did not like the food.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Oh y'all, yeah, I know.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Hell, Hero's Chicken is everywhere and it ain't sat Uncle Remas,
- 15:18Speaker 3: but I haven't had. But I love Chicago. I stayed
- 15:22Speaker 3: one winner and I haven't stayed another winner.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Of that scene, now, that is what I was talking about.
- 15:27Speaker 1: They got the water, the water turn ice out. There's
- 15:30Speaker 1: something called wind chill. It is five with the wind
- 15:35Speaker 1: chill of negative fifteen. What and then you gotta have
- 15:39Speaker 1: like your undershirt, gotta have an undershirt? He I'm cool.
- 15:44Speaker 1: What the hell?
- 15:45Speaker 2: What the hell?
- 15:46Speaker 1: Let's talk about Chicago when we come back with the
- 15:48Speaker 1: Ball Alert Show, brought to you by Revolt.
- 15:52Speaker 4: That's right, man, we are back right here on the
- 15:54Speaker 4: Battle Alert Show on Revolt TV.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Now, were talking about sha Town.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Traded to Chicago. We're talking about the lifestyle and everything.
- 16:03Speaker 1: That's cool, But what about practice? How was that practice?
- 16:08Speaker 3: So practice in Chicago from Atlanta, it was so chill,
- 16:13Speaker 3: Like I had all of these veterans on my team
- 16:15Speaker 3: in Chicago. So it wasn't as as intense as Atlanta
- 16:18Speaker 3: because Atlanta's a new team. So I got them like damn,
- 16:22Speaker 3: Like it's pretty cool. But soon as I got there,
- 16:25Speaker 3: the player that was in my position got hurt. So
- 16:28Speaker 3: then I moved right into the starting lineup. So I
- 16:31Speaker 3: went from sitting the bench. So now I'm back starting
- 16:34Speaker 3: playing significant minutes. Now I love that.
- 16:37Speaker 4: Now, when you when you got your start back, how
- 16:39Speaker 4: did that make you feel?
- 16:40Speaker 2: Like did that get your confidence back going?
- 16:43Speaker 4: And and how how did your teammates treat you like
- 16:47Speaker 4: when you got there.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Like, man, he came on here and got you know
- 16:50Speaker 3: what I mean, Yo, My teammates showed mad love like
- 16:53Speaker 3: it wasn't no hate, it wasn't no jealousy. Like even
- 16:56Speaker 3: the player that got hurt that she was like showing
- 16:58Speaker 3: me the route, showing me the way, like they showed that,
- 17:02Speaker 3: especially in a business like a professional because you know,
- 17:06Speaker 3: you're fighting for a job at the end of the day,
- 17:07Speaker 3: it's your job, it's your livelihood. But they showed man
- 17:10Speaker 3: up like I can't even complain about the teammates I
- 17:12Speaker 3: had during that time.
- 17:14Speaker 1: And you stayed there nine years season, so that was
- 17:17Speaker 1: that was That's a long tenure to even play a
- 17:20Speaker 1: professional sport. Yeah, so that's a blessing.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Number one.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Number two, I think around this time, when did your
- 17:25Speaker 1: high school jersey get retired while you were in Chicago?
- 17:28Speaker 3: While I was in Chicago.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Yep, So you go home and your jersey gets retired.
- 17:32Speaker 1: How was that?
- 17:33Speaker 3: It was cool? Like, my family was there, my jersey
- 17:36Speaker 3: now about to be hunger with Jordan. I'm in the
- 17:39Speaker 3: same pro city as Jordan. I felt like I was
- 17:41Speaker 3: about to get a Jordan deal. Yeah, it makes sense Chicago,
- 17:47Speaker 3: but it ain't happened. I felt like it could happen.
- 17:50Speaker 1: But you know, now these days, the w NBA women
- 17:56Speaker 1: players are traveling better. Yeah, a lot of deals. Now, Yeah,
- 18:02Speaker 1: was that an issue with you guys? Because I heard
- 18:05Speaker 1: and I want to ask you, as soon as you
- 18:07Speaker 1: got season was done, you had to go overseas and
- 18:10Speaker 1: play right like it was not even an option, like
- 18:13Speaker 1: or I got to go get a job or I
- 18:15Speaker 1: got to pick up a different hustle on the side.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Was that something that you had to do?
- 18:18Speaker 3: Yeah, So for the most part, I went overseas. There
- 18:21Speaker 3: were a couple of times, you know, every season for
- 18:24Speaker 3: my first five years. Yeah, yeah, first five years I
- 18:27Speaker 3: went overseas, and then it became a point where I
- 18:29Speaker 3: was stay in Chicago and do an internship. They started
- 18:32Speaker 3: doing deals with the teams for players, like they would
- 18:36Speaker 3: pay you to stay in the city. You could do
- 18:37Speaker 3: an internship, or you could do like marketing for the team.
- 18:41Speaker 3: But wow, yeah, So then I started doing that because
- 18:44Speaker 3: I got tired of going overseas being away from my family.
- 18:46Speaker 3: You know, like four to five months in the summer,
- 18:48Speaker 3: then you oversee seven eight months away. It was a lot,
- 18:52Speaker 3: and it takes a toll on your body. So I
- 18:54Speaker 3: stopped doing that. Where people didn't see it fit for me.
- 18:58Speaker 3: They're like, oh, you got to get to chase the
- 18:59Speaker 3: bag as long as you can. But my sanity and
- 19:01Speaker 3: my happiness is more important than me chasing the bag.
- 19:04Speaker 3: But it still was a good life, you know, like
- 19:06Speaker 3: living a dream being yeah, being paid to play basketball,
- 19:10Speaker 3: and I'm able to see the world. If I didn't
- 19:12Speaker 3: play ball, I wouldn't have been to a lot of
- 19:14Speaker 3: places that I travel to.
- 19:16Speaker 1: I'm glad you said that because we do have a
- 19:17Speaker 1: mental health check in courtesy of the Faith Project. When tooification,
- 19:22Speaker 1: How do you ty young keep your mental strong?
- 19:26Speaker 3: What do you do pray, and I speak with my family,
- 19:31Speaker 3: like I stay close to my family, and sometimes I
- 19:34Speaker 3: get off the internet, you know, like social media. People
- 19:38Speaker 3: behind phones or computers, they feel like they know you.
- 19:41Speaker 3: They can say whatever they want. You know, misery loves company,
- 19:44Speaker 3: and so sometimes you have to get away from that.
- 19:47Speaker 3: But me being in the public eye for so long
- 19:49Speaker 3: and basketball has helped me build, you know, like a
- 19:52Speaker 3: tough mentality where I've learned to ignore critics. But we
- 19:57Speaker 3: all human, you know. Sometimes it does take a toll,
- 20:00Speaker 3: but that's when I just separate myself and do the
- 20:02Speaker 3: things that I enjoyed, like spending time with my family,
- 20:04Speaker 3: watching movies, just detaching from the things that could, you know,
- 20:08Speaker 3: cause fog or cause issues for you mentally.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Yeah, you're you're. You were to me one of the
- 20:15Speaker 1: very popular faces in the w NBA when you played,
- 20:20Speaker 1: and you're a popular face now still because you are
- 20:22Speaker 1: an assistant coach.
- 20:23Speaker 3: No no, yeah, this one year.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Ok, yeah, I thought you still like kept doing that now.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Well, I'm still like doing different coaching jobs, but I'm
- 20:31Speaker 3: not with the Chicago Sky anymore. They fired our head
- 20:34Speaker 3: coach last year after one year.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I remember that, and they I thought they
- 20:39Speaker 1: did good.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Yeah we did.
- 20:40Speaker 2: After one year, because.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I would see you on the bench, I was like, damn, okay.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been like very controversial now because like normally
- 20:49Speaker 3: you get at least two years, and then you got
- 20:52Speaker 3: that one.
- 20:52Speaker 1: I mean, well, Chicago had Cardoza, Cardoz and Angel and
- 20:56Speaker 1: I saw the hot pics. Yeah, I thought you guys
- 20:59Speaker 1: did really good.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Like season, Yeah, we we did better than we were expected.
- 21:02Speaker 3: They expected us to finish last. We were one game
- 21:05Speaker 3: from making playoffs. Even in the end, we had like
- 21:08Speaker 3: four of our starters injured. So it was a lot
- 21:11Speaker 3: of things that happened where I didn't think she was
- 21:14Speaker 3: gonna get fired that soon. And we was also renegotiating
- 21:17Speaker 3: bringing me back too.
- 21:19Speaker 4: So so they sound like they need to pick up
- 21:22Speaker 4: the phone to call you because this is crazy. Man.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Professional basketball is a very grueling business.
- 21:31Speaker 4: It's like, man, you like, if you see how like
- 21:33Speaker 4: these coaches are being fired at it's like you ain't
- 21:35Speaker 4: even got a chance.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it's cutthroat. But as you see in the NBA
- 21:39Speaker 3: when they fired coaches, they like kind of rotate, you know.
- 21:42Speaker 1: They send him over here, he come over here, he
- 21:45Speaker 1: go over there. Never see anyone Vanish.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Yeah, and like ours, they were like seven different head
- 21:50Speaker 3: coaches and changes, and they probably only rotated like two
- 21:55Speaker 3: of them.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Before we go to commercial because we got a couple
- 21:59Speaker 1: more minutes. Is it a thing? Is it better for
- 22:04Speaker 1: a w NBA player or a college woman player to
- 22:08Speaker 1: have a female coach or or a man coach? Doesn't matter.
- 22:11Speaker 3: I don't feel like it matters. I think it just
- 22:14Speaker 3: depends on the coach and their philosophy. Like one of
- 22:17Speaker 3: my favorite coaches is a man coach. My college coach,
- 22:21Speaker 3: he was a male, and then I've had female coaches
- 22:24Speaker 3: that I love too, So I just feel like it's
- 22:26Speaker 3: the nature of the coach and how that coach can
- 22:28Speaker 3: resonate and you know, get the players to do what's
- 22:32Speaker 3: needed to be done, get the players to respect you
- 22:34Speaker 3: and buy into your system.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Do you think that the NBA should put eventually, one
- 22:41Speaker 1: day get a woman head coach full absolutely team?
- 22:45Speaker 3: Yes, absolutely. I mean like they have assistant female coaches,
- 22:49Speaker 3: So when it's the time that we're going to have
- 22:51Speaker 3: a female head coaches, Like we got male head coaches
- 22:54Speaker 3: in the W and now they're still adding more male coaches.
- 22:57Speaker 2: To the W.
- 22:57Speaker 3: So when are we going to get the opportunity for
- 23:00Speaker 3: the for the men because basketball and coaching and knowing
- 23:03Speaker 3: the game, it doesn't matter if you male are female.
- 23:07Speaker 1: I just feel like women have to know twice is
- 23:10Speaker 1: more sports than men in the sporting world.
- 23:15Speaker 3: I feel like they make it harder for women.
- 23:18Speaker 1: So yeah, because the women, the women coaches and the
- 23:22Speaker 1: women analysts that I see, I'll be like, dog, she
- 23:24Speaker 1: knows way more than anyone on this television set. And
- 23:29Speaker 1: and she's not getting enough air like face time on
- 23:32Speaker 1: television here, Like yo, she is like what's the girl.
- 23:40Speaker 3: She used to play?
- 23:41Speaker 1: She know her stuff, she know her stuff. It's a
- 23:43Speaker 1: it's a it's a couple of other ones that be
- 23:46Speaker 1: knowing their stuff that I see that steven A will
- 23:49Speaker 1: put on first take.
- 23:50Speaker 3: The women we know our stuff, you know, but it's
- 23:53Speaker 3: it's like a male dominant thing. But the women, we
- 23:56Speaker 3: know our stuff for sure.
- 23:58Speaker 1: One time for El Dunk, she fought too and she
- 24:01Speaker 1: being anyway, let's go to commercial. T Young in the
- 24:04Speaker 1: building of the Ballert Show brought to you, and we're
- 24:07Speaker 1: back on the ball Alert Show brought to you by
- 24:08Speaker 1: a Revolt. Ty Young is in the building. Uh, the
- 24:12Speaker 1: legend the person were about to ask this question too.
- 24:16Speaker 1: It is now time for do you like me? This
- 24:19Speaker 1: is that moment when you're looking at the camera and
- 24:21Speaker 1: you shout out your crush. Who you crushing on? Somebody
- 24:23Speaker 1: you have a crush on? It's single.
- 24:30Speaker 3: I'm trying to think, I don't really have no crush.
- 24:32Speaker 3: It's not a woman that I wanted to date and
- 24:35Speaker 3: couldn't date.
- 24:37Speaker 1: That's what I'm talking about. I'm trying to think, do
- 24:41Speaker 1: you check your d ms? Like, how does someone get
- 24:44Speaker 1: a hold of you in a romantic way?
- 24:47Speaker 3: It's usually like in person. Social media scares me, you know,
- 24:52Speaker 3: like people be using apps filters, you.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Know, like you ain't trying to get caffeine.
- 25:00Speaker 3: But like I'm an energy person too, you know. So
- 25:04Speaker 3: usually the people that I've dated, I've met in person
- 25:06Speaker 3: and they like just connect. But my dms are going crazy,
- 25:11Speaker 3: like even more so now that I'm on basketball wise,
- 25:14Speaker 3: so it's like now when you you know, back on
- 25:16Speaker 3: TV again, people was like the yah, yeah they're crazy.
- 25:22Speaker 4: Yeah, and you I feel like I was talking to
- 25:24Speaker 4: worry about this off camera. I'm like, man, you are
- 25:29Speaker 4: probably more popular now than when you was playing basketball. Yeah,
- 25:34Speaker 4: And I feel like it's normally the opposite.
- 25:36Speaker 3: Yeah, but you know, like basketball now for the women
- 25:41Speaker 3: has gotten way more eyes than they were getting when
- 25:44Speaker 3: I played, because I was popular as a basketball player.
- 25:48Speaker 3: But in our realm, you know, because it's a whole different,
- 25:52Speaker 3: different demographic reality element. Yeah, and then like the basketball world,
- 25:57Speaker 3: and so it was a thing too, Like when I
- 26:01Speaker 3: was reading some of the comments, someone was like, yeah,
- 26:03Speaker 3: well you know who is she? I never even heard
- 26:04Speaker 3: of her before she did love a hip hop And
- 26:06Speaker 3: I'm like, so, because you haven't heard of me, you
- 26:09Speaker 3: want to discredit my success and who I am because
- 26:11Speaker 3: I could name some WNBA or NBA owners who you've
- 26:14Speaker 3: never heard of, and that ain't gonna take away from
- 26:16Speaker 3: him being a billionaire and him being successful, you know.
- 26:19Speaker 3: So it's it's like a different, different graphic. And I
- 26:21Speaker 3: can always tell the difference when I'm out when someone
- 26:23Speaker 3: approaches me, whether they're a basketball support or our fan
- 26:27Speaker 3: or a reality TV support our fan.
- 26:29Speaker 4: Yeah, you get to both sides of the story. And
- 26:31Speaker 4: y'all start reading them comments. Y'all tell y'alla stop reading
- 26:34Speaker 4: them comments. I get fulfillment because I got Rory is
- 26:38Speaker 4: gonna reply and he's gonna send very detailed reply.
- 26:41Speaker 1: I'm applying to these folks. Yeah, but sometimes someone needs
- 26:44Speaker 1: to get put in their place sessionally for sure, so
- 26:47Speaker 1: they don't feel like sometimes like bro people and then
- 26:51Speaker 1: the personal DM you and be like, yo, I just
- 26:53Speaker 1: wanted to get your attention. Listen to my music and
- 26:58Speaker 1: I'll be over here like that's all you could have did.
- 27:00Speaker 1: But that's not how certain people. And I've learned what
- 27:02Speaker 1: it's called. It's called trolling.
- 27:04Speaker 2: People definitely control.
- 27:05Speaker 3: But I have learned from when I first, you know,
- 27:08Speaker 3: did reality TV. I used to respond to everything, and
- 27:10Speaker 3: now I'm like, you just want attention. So now if
- 27:13Speaker 3: it's like negative and I see it, because I don't
- 27:15Speaker 3: see everything, but if it's negative and I see, I
- 27:17Speaker 3: block are Sometimes if I'm in the mood patrol and
- 27:20Speaker 3: I got timed, then I controlled back too, like what's up?
- 27:23Speaker 3: You know that's what you want? You really want some
- 27:25Speaker 3: attention and then you want to apologize.
- 27:29Speaker 4: I hate when people do, but you know what, they
- 27:31Speaker 4: probably are so mad at they like that that is
- 27:34Speaker 4: probably the only fulfillment that they get. And said, look
- 27:38Speaker 4: at look at how young they at work. You know
- 27:40Speaker 4: what I'm saying they at work, like, look.
- 27:45Speaker 3: They don't care if it's good or bad, but you
- 27:47Speaker 3: have to be confident in who you are in yourself
- 27:50Speaker 3: because like, if you're not, then all of that will
- 27:52Speaker 3: bother you. But I know who I am, so it
- 27:54Speaker 3: don't bother me. But if I got time, I'm controlled
- 27:56Speaker 3: right back. I was just trolling on one of the
- 27:58Speaker 3: sneakers yesterday. What happened you know ko that?
- 28:05Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 28:06Speaker 3: Yeah, So one of the they was like, oh, do
- 28:09Speaker 3: you wear the hangtag on your Jordans or not? And
- 28:12Speaker 3: so I was like, why do y'all care what other
- 28:13Speaker 3: people think? I'm wearing what I want? And then dude
- 28:16Speaker 3: was like, nah, that's corny you wearing the hangtag? I said,
- 28:18Speaker 3: And it's people like you asked Tom, why I'm gonna
- 28:20Speaker 3: wear the hangtag because you think it's corny? He said, See,
- 28:23Speaker 3: you shouldn't let me dictate what you wear. I said,
- 28:25Speaker 3: I'm not. He was like, that's corny. I said, you
- 28:27Speaker 3: writing I got a new page and your bio is corny?
- 28:30Speaker 3: Like I was just he was like, why are you
- 28:37Speaker 3: saying that? Why can't let people know I got a
- 28:39Speaker 3: new page? I said, Look, see, you want to troll
- 28:41Speaker 3: on my trol back. It was fun.
- 28:44Speaker 1: It feels good. It feels good. You should try it.
- 28:47Speaker 1: You eat it one time for your TikTok.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Man. TikTok, y'all got to chill out.
- 28:52Speaker 3: Man.
- 28:52Speaker 2: They be making me mad on TikTok.
- 28:54Speaker 1: I ain't gonna cat. It's different people on TikTok that
- 28:57Speaker 1: there is.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Oh the rip. The real evil people live on.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Pop are not the same at all. Neighbor at all.
- 29:06Speaker 4: I think one neighborhood is I think the people on TikTok.
- 29:09Speaker 4: And you got no job because of what the stuff
- 29:11Speaker 4: they be saying.
- 29:14Speaker 3: And how they make so many different fake pages. You
- 29:16Speaker 3: like emails you're going to.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Create yo, one follower, but you're following five thousand people.
- 29:22Speaker 1: And okay, but see I have a ratchet cousin in Florida.
- 29:26Speaker 1: I'll never say her name, but she does that. Yeah,
- 29:30Speaker 1: so I would literally be like, okay, I know who
- 29:33Speaker 1: you are. I have a relative just.
- 29:35Speaker 4: Like maybe want to have conversation on TikTok. I ain't
- 29:37Speaker 4: doing I want and done. I'm a comment back, good
- 29:41Speaker 4: or bad.
- 29:41Speaker 1: And I just like the fact that I got you
- 29:43Speaker 1: boiling hot on the other side on your phone, like
- 29:45Speaker 1: you so mad going off right, you're watching watching together
- 29:51Speaker 1: and my sisters bedroom house with my movie theater in
- 29:53Speaker 1: my basement. Okay, anyway, uh, let's go to commercial when
- 29:58Speaker 1: we come up. When we come back, we got What's
- 30:00Speaker 1: tire Young, and we gonna get a little serious when
- 30:03Speaker 1: we get back on the Ballert Show.
- 30:04Speaker 3: Brought to you about to get serious.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Shit gets serious, and we're back with the ball Alert Show.
- 30:11Speaker 1: We were having some labs off camera, and I think
- 30:13Speaker 1: we should bring it back in Brought to you by Revolt.
- 30:15Speaker 1: I go by the Nat Ferrari Sivens, you know bt
- 30:17Speaker 1: Tie Young. In the building. We were talking about height
- 30:20Speaker 1: and I was saying, if I could get any type
- 30:24Speaker 1: of surgery, it would be for me to enhance my height.
- 30:28Speaker 1: I'm five six and a half. I always say five
- 30:30Speaker 1: to seven, and I would I would wish to be
- 30:34Speaker 1: five nine five ten. That's the crazy thing is it's
- 30:38Speaker 1: really my mom fault because my dad's five ten. My
- 30:40Speaker 1: dad's taller than me. My mom is five to one,
- 30:44Speaker 1: my grandma is four eleven, my wife is five to one.
- 30:49Speaker 1: So I know my kid's gonna be short.
- 30:53Speaker 4: Now, you said you will want your height to be
- 30:55Speaker 4: like five nine, five ten, to be able to do what.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Grab stuff off the counter, grabs at the cupboards at
- 31:02Speaker 1: the house.
- 31:03Speaker 3: You're a married man.
- 31:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I understand that, but I also feel like if
- 31:09Speaker 4: you don't get your ass on.
- 31:11Speaker 1: That stool and you got step stool, but that's the lame.
- 31:17Speaker 1: First of all, I got three stepstools in the house.
- 31:19Speaker 3: I got so I get it.
- 31:22Speaker 2: But you probably have a lot of shoes.
- 31:25Speaker 1: And this is my crazy thing. I got the steps stool,
- 31:27Speaker 1: but I can't reach the top my sneakers because my
- 31:30Speaker 1: sneakers go up to the ceiling. So how you get
- 31:32Speaker 1: your I gotta take the whole thing out. Yeah, it'd
- 31:37Speaker 1: be like jumping up the time knock one of the
- 31:38Speaker 1: shoe down.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Yeah it's okay, but but yeah.
- 31:44Speaker 4: Man, that surgery looks painful, and I don't I don't
- 31:48Speaker 4: think people should be.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Getting I wouldn't indulge in it.
- 31:50Speaker 4: But I'm just saying I feel like one one kick
- 31:52Speaker 4: to that shin and it's the end.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Yeah. Anyways, man, all right, so what does t have
- 32:00Speaker 1: going on personally?
- 32:01Speaker 2: Like these?
- 32:02Speaker 1: Because I see this T shirt?
- 32:03Speaker 3: You want my clothing brand Tune and Tie. You know
- 32:07Speaker 3: they did her? Little rent said, I was opportunists. I said, okay, well,
- 32:10Speaker 3: let me make a T shirt. Then they go opportunity.
- 32:12Speaker 3: Now you could buy his shirt at Ty one Gear.
- 32:15Speaker 2: I like that. I like that shirt. Why they say
- 32:17Speaker 2: you opportunists though.
- 32:18Speaker 3: That's just something my ex and one of her friends
- 32:20Speaker 3: was running with because they was mad.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Really yeah, wait, which one?
- 32:28Speaker 3: You the only one that go and talk crazy about
- 32:30Speaker 3: me publicly?
- 32:33Speaker 1: Y'all haven't spoken.
- 32:35Speaker 3: It's crazy because before that interview, I thought, you know,
- 32:38Speaker 3: we was cordial. I've seen her out with her Man's
- 32:40Speaker 3: and I sent them a drink. She said everything was cool,
- 32:43Speaker 3: She's doing well. And then I see that interview and
- 32:45Speaker 3: I'm like, well, damn.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Now was the interview like clip bait?
- 32:49Speaker 2: On the clip?
- 32:51Speaker 3: You know, they gonna use Thay young name for some clickbaits,
- 32:53Speaker 3: for sure, But I think her her friend did a
- 32:56Speaker 3: interview first talking trash and it didn't get enough motion
- 32:59Speaker 3: behind it. So then they brought my ex on to,
- 33:02Speaker 3: you know, to get it popping a little more.
- 33:04Speaker 1: But and stuff like that doesn't bother you.
- 33:07Speaker 2: You clean on that.
- 33:09Speaker 3: I made a T shirt because for me, I'm going
- 33:11Speaker 3: to always elevate, I'm going to always get better. I'm
- 33:13Speaker 3: going to always make opportunities for myself, you know, And
- 33:17Speaker 3: if you don't make opportunities for yourself, you can't be
- 33:19Speaker 3: mad at me. That's that's my stance. I've been like
- 33:23Speaker 3: that since the kid. I'm writing down my goals, my
- 33:25Speaker 3: dreams to continue to get better as a person and
- 33:29Speaker 3: work wise.
- 33:30Speaker 1: I always feel like professional athletes are the best goal
- 33:36Speaker 1: achievers because to be a professional athlete is very difficult.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Takes a lot of focus and dedication and.
- 33:45Speaker 3: Sacrifices and discipline and discipline.
- 33:47Speaker 1: Like yeah, man, So I've always feel like anything you
- 33:49Speaker 1: guys put your minds too, you can accomplish I feel
- 33:51Speaker 1: like people in the media as well too, because you
- 33:53Speaker 1: be broke forever until you make money, like forever in
- 33:58Speaker 1: the media, you make money at the very.
- 34:00Speaker 3: Forever building, until you get it.
- 34:04Speaker 2: I don't know what he talking about.
- 34:05Speaker 4: He probably talking about the people that probably time for
- 34:08Speaker 4: them to retired.
- 34:09Speaker 2: But but yeah, it does. It does take a long
- 34:12Speaker 2: time to make money in this business.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Yes, I just want Yeah. And then also we got
- 34:16Speaker 1: something that we just want to give your flowers, bring
- 34:19Speaker 1: you on the show one time for my og. Chubby
- 34:22Speaker 1: Baby passed away and we never got a chance to
- 34:24Speaker 1: interview him. So I always want to make sure we're
- 34:26Speaker 1: very intentful with people that we bring and sit across
- 34:30Speaker 1: from us and give you your flowers live on television
- 34:34Speaker 1: and these clips, so it's documented that we said we
- 34:38Speaker 1: appreciate you everything you represent and we support you. You're
- 34:44Speaker 1: crucial to the culture, to the sports sports culture, the
- 34:48Speaker 1: woman's sports sports culture. Yeah, Like, first of all, your
- 34:53Speaker 1: whole outfits is always crazy. Are we going to get
- 34:55Speaker 1: into some fashion.

- 34:58Speaker 3: to say thank youppreciate y'all giving me my flowers and
- 35:02Speaker 3: acknowledge that you know me as a basketball player the
- 35:06Speaker 3: women's sports culture, because it wasn't an easy journey, Like
- 35:10Speaker 3: it was difficult, you know, like and it was a
- 35:12Speaker 3: dream that I made come true with many sacrifices and discipline.
- 35:16Speaker 3: So I appreciate that.
- 35:18Speaker 1: And before we go, so let's talk about some fashion
- 35:20Speaker 1: real quick, like what we got going because every time
- 35:23Speaker 1: I see you have it on, like I can literally
- 35:26Speaker 1: steal this whole outfit right now, I literally wear your entire.
- 35:30Speaker 3: Outfit, and you know what's crazy coming in I'm like
- 35:33Speaker 3: one of my friends, Like what you're gonna wear? I
- 35:34Speaker 3: have no idea. So I'm in the shower, I get out,
- 35:37Speaker 3: I'm like, okay, I want to wear this shirt. I
- 35:39Speaker 3: want to wear my hat. I don't know. I just
- 35:40Speaker 3: went down found a short Loyalty that's my clothing brand.
- 35:44Speaker 3: That's part of my brand too, So I love this
- 35:46Speaker 3: is my favorite e boji. Actually, my best friend made
- 35:48Speaker 3: this logo for me and then shout out to Chris KC.

- 35:57Speaker 1: Second, look, he all.
- 36:01Speaker 3: Thinks photographer security.
- 36:03Speaker 2: You know, it's that hat he got on. You know,
- 36:05Speaker 2: security guards always had that black hat on.
- 36:09Speaker 1: You don't know if he's gonna shoot you a gut you.
- 36:11Speaker 3: I don't know. Then, like you know, just throwing the
- 36:15Speaker 3: Rick Owen shorts with the kicks. Yeah, I'm the type
- 36:18Speaker 3: like I just want to wear like what makes me
- 36:20Speaker 3: feel good, what I'm comfortable in.
- 36:22Speaker 1: So like I'm not but it's influential, is what I'm saying.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Your style is influential. I think you should. You know
- 36:28Speaker 1: what I'm saying, figure out some content around.

- 36:42Speaker 1: Okay, I'm saying you have it. And then the tattoos.
- 36:46Speaker 1: The tattoos is crazy.
- 36:47Speaker 3: Thank you. I love tats. It started though in college.
- 36:51Speaker 3: I had to hote him because my mother wasn't big
- 36:53Speaker 3: on tattoos. Yeah, I thought I made it to the league.
- 36:56Speaker 3: I'm like, I made my own money.
- 36:57Speaker 2: Now boom, you don't get any more tax as.
- 37:03Speaker 3: You get older, they hurt. So I'm like, I don't know.
- 37:08Speaker 3: I do want something, but I don't know if I
- 37:10Speaker 3: want to sit there and do it.
- 37:11Speaker 2: The pain man, they got that numb and cream.
- 37:13Speaker 4: Now you got you got some NBA players I've seen getting.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Put to sleep. Yeah, yeah, that's a that's a tap
- 37:20Speaker 1: out session.
- 37:21Speaker 3: Yeah I'm not I'm not going to sleep.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Full backs of back tattoos.
- 37:24Speaker 4: Man, If you got to get put to sleep in
- 37:26Speaker 4: the tattooed, you don't need no damn tattoo.
- 37:27Speaker 2: Yeah it ain't. It ain't that serious that Yeah.
- 37:31Speaker 1: Anything else you got for us? For you.
- 37:33Speaker 2: I'm working on my books, Okay, let's talk about it.
- 37:35Speaker 3: So I'm working on a fairly young book.
- 37:39Speaker 1: Biography.
- 37:40Speaker 3: Yeah, a biography you know, just growing up and then
- 37:44Speaker 3: making it to the league. So I feel like I'm
- 37:46Speaker 3: going to do multiple books because I lived a cool
- 37:49Speaker 3: life and you know, I still got time. So I
- 37:52Speaker 3: feel like I might have a couple of thing. I'm
- 37:55Speaker 3: trying to do my thing a little bit.
- 37:56Speaker 1: And before we go, you man, the jumper still there
- 38:00Speaker 1: because I saw you out there with I understand now
- 38:05Speaker 1: shooter shooter, Yeah, I saw you. You ain't missed. Yeah,
- 38:08Speaker 1: I can tell you that was raw footage. That's not
- 38:10Speaker 1: clipped that together.
- 38:11Speaker 3: Nah, it was raw. And I haven't been in the
- 38:13Speaker 3: gym in a minute. But once you shoot, always a shooter.
- 38:15Speaker 3: Shooter shoot exactly.
- 38:17Speaker 1: We shoot up out of here.
- 38:18Speaker 2: But I got one more question before we shoot up
- 38:20Speaker 2: out of here.
- 38:21Speaker 4: Uh, do you feel like with the I guess with
- 38:24Speaker 4: the new generation of the w n B A and
- 38:26Speaker 4: and and the things have changed a lot. You know,
- 38:29Speaker 4: they're taking private planes and all these things that have changed.
- 38:32Speaker 4: Do you feel like Kaylyn Clark had a lot to
- 38:34Speaker 4: do with the change of the w.
- 38:35Speaker 5: N B A.
- 38:37Speaker 3: Kayln has brought a lot more, you know, notoriety to
- 38:42Speaker 3: the game, her and Angel, especially that college rivalry thing
- 38:45Speaker 3: they had going on. But flying Charter has already been
- 38:49Speaker 3: in the talks for the league. It's always been an
- 38:52Speaker 3: issue with travel. How we were traveling commercial in the
- 38:55Speaker 3: back of the plane. So I just feel like, you know,
- 38:57Speaker 3: the right timing. I wouldn't say she's solely made that
- 39:01Speaker 3: change now, but she has brought a crazy fan base
- 39:04Speaker 3: and more eyes to the league, as well as the
- 39:07Speaker 3: other you know, new generational players.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Before we go, my favorite players. Rique is a Bucket.
- 39:14Speaker 1: That's my dog.
- 39:15Speaker 3: Yeahritae Bucket.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Yeah, she don't play. I wish he was on the
- 39:20Speaker 1: train town. Anyway, we gotta got fault.
- 39:24Speaker 2: See y'all next week.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Oliver Line
