- 0:00Not have sensory processing disorder.

- 0:06said, you do not have sensory processing disorder and probably
- 0:10you are thinking yourself. Huh.
- 0:13What on Earth is this guy in about?
- 0:14Well guys, I'm gonna get into all that right now.
- 0:16But first of all, I wanted to say to you guys that it is
- 0:19sensory processing disorder awareness month and also led to
- 0:23do when it smells like which is kind of really interesting.
- 0:25All right. Chairs clicking I do apologize.
- 0:27Anyway you guys all you stranger things fans out there.
- 0:29What's up? My name is Dan.
- 0:31I have autism ADHD. Also the in dyslexia and I make
- 0:33videos like this every single week.
- 0:35So, if you are new around here, you want to learn more about
- 0:37those topics. Make sure to hit the Subscribe
- 0:38button and check me on Instagram.
- 0:40I got like loads of stuff going on there and tick-tock Well
- 0:43anyway guys what is going on? Okay, so sensory processing
- 0:46disorder really really interesting.
- 0:48I want to see this video because sensory processing disorder is
- 0:51kind of like a it's a different type of comorbid condition.
- 0:56What I mean by comorbid is co-occurring which means occurs
- 0:59alongside something else. So pretty much everybody who has
- 1:02an Autism. Diagnosis will also have a
- 1:04comorbid diagnosis, again, a co-occurring diagnosis of
- 1:08sensory processing disorder, and or SPD as they call it in short
- 1:12terms. Now SPD is where a person may be
- 1:15sensitive to light and sound, and smell and taste, and
- 1:19texture, and heat, and all kinds of stuff anything to do with
- 1:22your centuries, right? So I guess my dogs didn't really
- 1:24like weird right now so okay, dog cam.
- 1:27Hey buddy, really. Hey Leo.
- 1:33You know about him on the docks being sorted out Sunday
- 1:36processing disorder can actually interrupt undisturbed many
- 1:39things in people's lives and we can be very very disabling.
- 1:41Not one thing about sensory processing disorder.
- 1:44I find super really interesting is that the DSM-5 which is
- 1:47basically like the the diagnostic criteria for
- 1:50diagnosing all kind of mental health and neurological
- 1:52conditions in America North America Europe.
- 1:55Pretty much everywhere in the world.
- 1:56They Amalgamated Asperger's syndrome and autism together to
- 2:00make autism spectrum disorder. That's what we no longer use the
- 2:02term Asperger's but they don't diagnose sensory processing
- 2:05disorder, independently of autism.
- 2:08Now this is really weird because I've met many people in my life
- 2:11who have sensory processing disorder, who are not on the
- 2:14autism spectrum. Like they don't have an Autism
- 2:16diagnosis, but they do have sensory processing issues,
- 2:19right? So you have pretty much a bunch
- 2:22of people floating about in the world who have sensory
- 2:24processing disorder, but no autism.
- 2:26So that being said there's no way that sensory processing
- 2:29disorder can be a Gnosis independently.
- 2:32You can only be diagnosed alongside autism, right?
- 2:34Which is really bizarre. So you can be artistic and have
- 2:37some sugar processing issues, but you can't be a sensory
- 2:39processing disorder person on their own.
- 2:42It sounds really weird but the cool thing is there are ways you
- 2:45can help with sensory processing disorder and one of those is
