- 0:00Speaker 1: Second Nephi, chapters eight to eleven. Chapter eight, hearken unto me,
- 0:06Speaker 1: ye that follow after righteousness, Look unto the rock from
- 0:10Speaker 1: whence year hewn, and to the whole of the pit,
- 0:13Speaker 1: from whence year digged. Look unto Abraham, your father, and
- 0:17Speaker 1: unto Sarah, she that bear you. For I called him
- 0:21Speaker 1: alone and blessed him. For the Lord shall comfort Zion.
- 0:25Speaker 1: He will comfort all her waste places, and he will
- 0:28Speaker 1: make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the
- 0:31Speaker 1: garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness shall be found
- 0:35Speaker 1: therein thanksgiving and the voice of melody. Hearken unto me,
- 0:40Speaker 1: my people, and give ear unto me o my nation,
- 0:44Speaker 1: For a law shall proceed from me, and I will
- 0:47Speaker 1: make my judgment to rest for a light for the people.
- 0:50Speaker 1: My righteousness is near, My salvation is gone forth, and
- 0:54Speaker 1: mine arms shall judge the people. The isles shall wait
- 0:58Speaker 1: upon me, and on mine arms shall they trust. Lift
- 1:02Speaker 1: up your eyes to the heavens and look upon the
- 1:05Speaker 1: earth beneath, For the heavens shall vanish away like smoke,
- 1:09Speaker 1: and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and
- 1:12Speaker 1: they that dwell therein shall die in like manner. But
- 1:16Speaker 1: my salvation shall be forever, and my righteousness shall not
- 1:21Speaker 1: be abolished. Hearken unto me, ye that no righteousness the
- 1:26Speaker 1: people in whose heart I have written my law fear
- 1:30Speaker 1: ye not the reproach of men. Neither be ye afraid
- 1:33Speaker 1: of their revilings. For the moth shall eat them up
- 1:36Speaker 1: like a garment, and the worms shall eat them like wool.
- 1:40Speaker 1: But my righteousness shall be forever, and my salvation from
- 1:44Speaker 1: generation to generation. Awake, Awake, put on strength o arm
- 1:51Speaker 1: of the Lord. Awake, as in the ancient days, Art
- 1:55Speaker 1: thou not he that hath cut Rahab and wounded the dragon.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Art thou not he who hath dried the sea the
- 2:02Speaker 1: waters of the great Deep, that hath made the depths
- 2:05Speaker 1: of the sea away for the ransomed to pass over.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Therefore the Redeemed the Lord shall return and come with
- 2:12Speaker 1: singing unto Zion, and everlasting joy and holiness shall be
- 2:16Speaker 1: upon their heads, and they shall obtain gladness and joy.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Sorrow and mourning shall flee away. I am he yea,
- 2:26Speaker 1: I am he that comforteth you behold. Who art thou
- 2:30Speaker 1: that thou shouldst be afraid of man who shall die
- 2:34Speaker 1: and of the son of man who shall be made
- 2:36Speaker 1: like unto grass, and forgettest the Lord, thy maker, that
- 2:40Speaker 1: hath stretched forth the heavens and laid the foundations of
- 2:43Speaker 1: the earth, And hast feared continually every day because of
- 2:48Speaker 1: the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready
- 2:50Speaker 1: to destroy. And where is the fury of the oppressor?
- 2:54Speaker 1: The captive exile hasteneth that he may be loosed, and
- 2:58Speaker 1: that he should not die in the pit, nor that
- 3:01Speaker 1: his bread should fail. But I am the Lord, thy god,
- 3:05Speaker 1: whose waves roared. The Lord of hosts is my name,
- 3:10Speaker 1: And I have put my words in thy mouth, and
- 3:13Speaker 1: have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that
- 3:16Speaker 1: I may plant the heavens and lay the foundations of
- 3:19Speaker 1: the earth. And say, unto Zion, behold thou art, my people, awake, Awake,
- 3:27Speaker 1: stand up o Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand
- 3:30Speaker 1: of the Lord the cup of his fury. Thou hast drunken,
- 3:34Speaker 1: the dregs of the cup of trembling wrung out, And
- 3:38Speaker 1: none to guide her among all the sons she hath
- 3:41Speaker 1: brought forth, neither that taketh her. By the hand of
- 3:45Speaker 1: all the sons, she hath brought up these two sons
- 3:49Speaker 1: are come unto THEE, who shall be sorry for thee
- 3:53Speaker 1: thy desolation and destruction, and the famine and the sword.
- 3:56Speaker 1: And by whom shall I comfort thee thy son have fainted,
- 4:01Speaker 1: Save these two. They lie at the head of all
- 4:04Speaker 1: the streets, as a wild bull in a net. They
- 4:07Speaker 1: are full of the fury of the Lord, the rebuke
- 4:10Speaker 1: of thy God. Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted and drunken,
- 4:16Speaker 1: and not with wine. Thus saith thy Lord, the Lord,
- 4:20Speaker 1: and thy God pleadeth the cause of his people. Behold,
- 4:24Speaker 1: I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling,
- 4:27Speaker 1: the dregs of the cup of my fury. Thou shalt
- 4:31Speaker 1: no more drink it again, but I will put it
- 4:33Speaker 1: into the hand of them that afflict THEE who have
- 4:36Speaker 1: said to thy soul, bow down, that we may go over.
- 4:41Speaker 1: And Thou hast laid thy body as the ground and
- 4:44Speaker 1: as the street to them that went over. Awake, Awake,
- 4:49Speaker 1: put on thy strength those eye, and put on thy
- 4:51Speaker 1: beautiful garments. O Jerusalem, the Holy City, For henceforth there
- 4:56Speaker 1: shall no more come into thee the uncircumstance and the unclean.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Shake thyself from the dust arise, sit down, O Jerusalem,
- 5:08Speaker 1: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive
- 5:12Speaker 1: daughter of Zion. Chapter nine. And now, my beloved brethren,
- 5:18Speaker 1: I have read these things that ye might know concerning
- 5:21Speaker 1: the covenance of the Lord, that he has covenanted with
- 5:24Speaker 1: all the House of Israel, that he has spoken unto
- 5:28Speaker 1: the Jews by the mouth of his holy prophets, even
- 5:31Speaker 1: from the beginning down from generation to generation, until the
- 5:35Speaker 1: time comes that they shall be restored to the true
- 5:38Speaker 1: Church enfold of God, when they shall be gathered home
- 5:41Speaker 1: to the lands of their inheritance, and shall be established
- 5:45Speaker 1: in all their lands of promise. Behold, my beloved brethren,
- 5:49Speaker 1: I speak unto you these things, that ye may rejoice
- 5:53Speaker 1: and lift up your heads forever because of the blessings
- 5:56Speaker 1: which the Lord God shall bestow upon your children. For
- 6:00Speaker 1: I know that ye have searched much, many of you
- 6:03Speaker 1: to know of things to come. Wherefore I know that
- 6:06Speaker 1: ye know that our flesh must waste away and die. Nevertheless,
- 6:11Speaker 1: in our bodies we shall see God. Yea. I know
- 6:15Speaker 1: that ye know that in the body He shall show
- 6:17Speaker 1: himself unto those of Jerusalem, from whence we came for it.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Is expedient that it should be among them. For it
- 6:25Speaker 1: behooveth the Great Creator, that he suffereth himself to become
- 6:29Speaker 1: subject unto man in the flesh and die for all men,
- 6:33Speaker 1: that all men might become subject unto him. For as
- 6:38Speaker 1: death hath passed upon all men. To fulfill the merciful
- 6:42Speaker 1: plan of the Great Creator, there must needs be a
- 6:45Speaker 1: power of resurrection, And the resurrection must needs come unto
- 6:50Speaker 1: man by reason of the fall, and the fall came
- 6:53Speaker 1: by reason of transgression, And because man became fallen, they
- 6:58Speaker 1: were cut off from the presence of the Lord. Wherefore
- 7:02Speaker 1: it must needs be an infinite atonement. Save it should
- 7:05Speaker 1: be an infinite atonement, this corruption could not put on incorruption.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Wherefore the first judgment which came upon man must needs
- 7:15Speaker 1: have remained in an endless duration. And if so, this
- 7:19Speaker 1: flesh must have laid down to rot and to crumble
- 7:22Speaker 1: to its mother earth, to rise no more, Oh the
- 7:26Speaker 1: wisdom of God, his mercy and grace. For behold, if
- 7:31Speaker 1: the flesh should rise no more, our spirits must become
- 7:34Speaker 1: subject to that angel who fell from before the presence
- 7:37Speaker 1: of the eternal God and became the devil. To rise
- 7:41Speaker 1: no more, and our spirits must have become like unto him,
- 7:45Speaker 1: and we become devils angels to a devil, to be
- 7:49Speaker 1: shut out from the presence of our God, and to
- 7:51Speaker 1: remain with the Father of lies in misery, like unto himself. YEA,
- 7:56Speaker 1: to that being who beguiled our first parents, who transformeth
- 8:01Speaker 1: himself nigh unto an angel of light, and stirreth up
- 8:04Speaker 1: the children of men, unto secret combinations of murder, and
- 8:08Speaker 1: all manner of secret works of darkness. Oh, how great
- 8:13Speaker 1: the goodness of our God, who prepareth away for our
- 8:16Speaker 1: escape from the grasp of this awful monster. Yea, that
- 8:20Speaker 1: monster death and hell, which I call the death of
- 8:24Speaker 1: the body, and also the death of the spirit. And
- 8:28Speaker 1: because of the way of deliverance of our God, the
- 8:30Speaker 1: Holy One of Israel, this death of which I have spoken,
- 8:34Speaker 1: which is the temporal, shall deliver up its dead, which
- 8:37Speaker 1: death is the grave. And this death of which I
- 8:41Speaker 1: have spoken, which is the spiritual death, shall deliver up
- 8:45Speaker 1: its dead, which spiritual death is hell. Wherefore death and
- 8:50Speaker 1: Hell must deliver up their dead, and hell must deliver
- 8:53Speaker 1: up its captive spirits, and the grave must deliver up
- 8:57Speaker 1: its captive bodies. And the bodies and the spirits of
- 9:00Speaker 1: men will be restored one to the other. And it
- 9:03Speaker 1: is by the power of the resurrection of the Holy
- 9:06Speaker 1: One of Israel. Oh, how great the plan of our God.
- 9:12Speaker 1: For on the other hand, the paradise of God must
- 9:15Speaker 1: deliver up the spirits of the righteous, and the grave
- 9:18Speaker 1: deliver up the body of the righteous, and the spirit
- 9:21Speaker 1: and the body is restored to itself again, and all
- 9:25Speaker 1: men become incorruptible and immortal. And they are living souls,
- 9:30Speaker 1: having a perfect knowledge, like unto us in the flesh.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Save it be that our knowledge shall be perfect. Wherefore
- 9:38Speaker 1: we shall have a perfect knowledge of all our guilt
- 9:41Speaker 1: and our uncleanness and our nakedness. And the righteous shall
- 9:45Speaker 1: have a perfect knowledge of their enjoyment and their righteousness,
- 9:49Speaker 1: being clothed with purity, yea, even with the robe of righteousness.
- 9:55Speaker 1: And it shall come to pass that when all men
- 9:57Speaker 1: shall have passed from this first death to life, insomuch
- 10:01Speaker 1: as they have become immortal, they must appear before the
- 10:05Speaker 1: judgment seat of the Holy One of Israel. And then
- 10:08Speaker 1: cometh the judgment, And then must they be judged according
- 10:11Speaker 1: to the holy judgment of God. And assuredly, as the
- 10:15Speaker 1: Lord liveth. For the Lord God hath spoken it, and
- 10:19Speaker 1: it is his eternal word which cannot pass away. That
- 10:23Speaker 1: they who are righteous shall be righteous still, and they
- 10:26Speaker 1: who are filthy shall be filthy still. Wherefore, they who
- 10:30Speaker 1: are filthy are the Devil and his angels, And they
- 10:34Speaker 1: shall go away into everlasting fire prepared for them. And
- 10:38Speaker 1: their torment is as a lake of fire and brimstone,
- 10:42Speaker 1: whose flame ascendeth up forever and ever, and has no
- 10:46Speaker 1: end o the greatness and the justice of our God,
- 10:50Speaker 1: For he executeth all his words, and they have gone
- 10:54Speaker 1: forth out of his mouth, and his law must be fulfilled.
- 10:59Speaker 1: But behold the righteous, the saints of the Holy One
- 11:02Speaker 1: of Israel, They who have believed in the Holy One
- 11:05Speaker 1: of Israel, They who have endured the crosses of the
- 11:09Speaker 1: world and despised the shame of it. They shall inherit
- 11:13Speaker 1: the Kingdom of God, which was prepared for them from
- 11:16Speaker 1: the foundation of the world. And their joy shall be
- 11:20Speaker 1: full forever. Oh, the greatness of the mercy of our God,
- 11:24Speaker 1: the Holy One of Israel. For he delivereth his saints
- 11:27Speaker 1: from that awful monster, the devil, and death and hell,
- 11:32Speaker 1: and that lake of fire and brimstone, which is endless torment. Oh,
- 11:37Speaker 1: how great the holiness of our God. For he knoweth
- 11:40Speaker 1: all things, and there is not anything save he knows it.
- 11:45Speaker 1: And he cometh into the world that he may save
- 11:47Speaker 1: all men, if they will hearken unto his voice. For behold,
- 11:51Speaker 1: he suffereth the pains of all men, yea, the pains
- 11:55Speaker 1: of every living creature, both men, women, and children, who
- 12:00Speaker 1: belong to the family of Adam. And he suffereth this
- 12:04Speaker 1: that the resurrection might pass upon all men, that all
- 12:07Speaker 1: might stand before him at the great and judgment day.
- 12:11Speaker 1: And he commandeth all men that they must repent and
- 12:15Speaker 1: be baptized in His name, having perfect faith in the
- 12:18Speaker 1: Holy One of Israel, or they cannot be saved in
- 12:22Speaker 1: the Kingdom of God. And if they will not repent
- 12:25Speaker 1: and believe in His name and be baptized in His name,
- 12:29Speaker 1: and endure to the end, they must be damned. For
- 12:33Speaker 1: the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, has spoken it.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Wherefore he has given a law. And where there is
- 12:41Speaker 1: no law given, there is no punishment. And where there
- 12:44Speaker 1: is no punishment, there is no condemnation. And where there
- 12:47Speaker 1: is no condemnation, the mercies of the Holy One of
- 12:50Speaker 1: Israel have claim upon them because of the Atonement, For
- 12:53Speaker 1: they are delivered by the power of Him. For the
- 12:56Speaker 1: atonement satisfieth the demands of His justice upon all those
- 13:01Speaker 1: who have not the law given to them. That they
- 13:04Speaker 1: are delivered from that awful monster death, and hell, and
- 13:08Speaker 1: the devil, and the lake of fire and brimstone, which
- 13:11Speaker 1: is endless torment. And they are restored to that God
- 13:15Speaker 1: who gave them breath, which is the Holy One of Israel.
- 13:19Speaker 1: But woe unto him that has the law given yea
- 13:22Speaker 1: that has all the commandments of God like unto us,
- 13:26Speaker 1: and that transgresseth them, and that wasteth the days of
- 13:29Speaker 1: his probation. For awful is his state, Oh, that cunning
- 13:34Speaker 1: plan of the evil One. Oh the vainness and the
- 13:38Speaker 1: frailties and the foolishness of men. When they are learned,
- 13:43Speaker 1: they think they are wise, and they hearken not unto
- 13:46Speaker 1: the counsel of God. For they set it aside, supposing
- 13:50Speaker 1: they know of themselves. Wherefore their wisdom is foolishness, and
- 13:55Speaker 1: it profiteth them not, and they shall perish. But to
- 13:59Speaker 1: be learned is good good. If they hearken unto the
- 14:01Speaker 1: counsels of God. But woe unto the rich who are
- 14:05Speaker 1: rich as to the things of the world, For because
- 14:09Speaker 1: they are rich, they despise the poor, and they persecute
- 14:12Speaker 1: the meek. And their hearts are upon their treasures. Wherefore
- 14:17Speaker 1: their treasure is their God. And behold, their treasure shall
- 14:21Speaker 1: perish with them also, And woe unto the death that
- 14:25Speaker 1: will not hear, for they shall perish. Woe unto the
- 14:30Speaker 1: blind that will not see, for they shall perish. Also.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Woe unto the uncircumcised of heart, for a knowledge of
- 14:40Speaker 1: their iniquities shall smite them at the last day. Woe
- 14:44Speaker 1: unto the lyre, for he shall be thrust down to hell.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Woe unto the murderer who deliberately killeth, for he shall die.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Woe unto them who commit hortoms, for they shall be
- 14:57Speaker 1: thrust down to hell. Yea woe unto those that worship idols,
- 15:03Speaker 1: for the devil of all devils delighteth in them, and
- 15:06Speaker 1: in fine Woe unto all those who die in their sins,
- 15:11Speaker 1: for they shall return to God and behold His face,
- 15:15Speaker 1: and remain in their sins. O, my beloved brethren, remember
- 15:20Speaker 1: the awfulness in transgressing against that Holy God, and also
- 15:25Speaker 1: the awfulness of yielding to the enticings of that cunning one. Remember,
- 15:31Speaker 1: to be carnally minded is death, and to be spiritually
- 15:34Speaker 1: minded is life eternal. O, my beloved brethren, give ear
- 15:40Speaker 1: to my words. Remember the greatness of the Holy One
- 15:43Speaker 1: of Israel. Do not say that I have spoken hard
- 15:46Speaker 1: things against you, For if ye do, ye will revile
- 15:50Speaker 1: against the truth. For I have spoken the words of
- 15:53Speaker 1: your Maker. I know that the words of truth are
- 15:57Speaker 1: hard against all uncleanness. But the righteous fear them not,
- 16:02Speaker 1: for they love the truth and are not shaken. O. Then,
- 16:06Speaker 1: my beloved brethren, come unto the Lord, the Holy One,
- 16:10Speaker 1: Remember that his paths are righteous. Behold, the way for
- 16:15Speaker 1: man is narrow, but it lieth in a straight course
- 16:18Speaker 1: before him. And the keeper of the gate is the
- 16:21Speaker 1: Holy One of Israel. And he employeth no servant there.
- 16:24Speaker 1: And there is none other way save it be by
- 16:28Speaker 1: the gate. For he cannot be deceived. For the Lord
- 16:31Speaker 1: God is his name. And whoso knocketh to him will
- 16:36Speaker 1: he open. And the wise and the learned, and they
- 16:40Speaker 1: that are rich, who are puffed up because of their
- 16:43Speaker 1: learning and their wisdom and their riches. Yea, they are
- 16:48Speaker 1: they whom He despiseth and save. They shall cast these
- 16:52Speaker 1: things away and consider themselves fools before God, and come
- 16:56Speaker 1: down in the depths of humility. He will not owe
- 17:00Speaker 1: unto them. But the things of the wise and the
- 17:03Speaker 1: prudent shall be hid from them forever. Yea, that happiness
- 17:08Speaker 1: which is prepared for the saints. O, my beloved brethren,
- 17:12Speaker 1: remember my words. Behold, I take off my garments, and
- 17:16Speaker 1: I shake them before you. I pray the God of
- 17:19Speaker 1: my salvation, that he view me with his all searching eye.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Wherefore ye shall know that at the last day, when
- 17:28Speaker 1: all men shall be judged of their works, that the
- 17:31Speaker 1: God of Israel did witness that I shook your iniquities
- 17:34Speaker 1: from my soul, and that I stand with brightness before
- 17:38Speaker 1: him and am rid of your blood. O, my beloved brethren,
- 17:42Speaker 1: turn away from your sins, shake off the chains of
- 17:46Speaker 1: him that would bind you fast. Come unto that God
- 17:49Speaker 1: who is the rock of your salvation. Prepare your souls
- 17:54Speaker 1: for that glorious day when justice shall be administered unto
- 17:58Speaker 1: the righteous, even the day of judgment, that ye may
- 18:01Speaker 1: not shrink with awful fear that ye may not remember
- 18:05Speaker 1: your awful guilt in perfectness and be constrained to exclaim. Holy,
- 18:10Speaker 1: Holy are thy judgments, O, Lord God Almighty. But I
- 18:15Speaker 1: know my guilt. I transgressed Thy law, and my transgressions
- 18:20Speaker 1: are mine. And the devil hath obtained me, that I
- 18:24Speaker 1: am a prey to his awful misery. But behold, my brethren,
- 18:29Speaker 1: is it expedient that I should awake you to an
- 18:32Speaker 1: awful reality? Of these things? Would I harrow up your souls?
- 18:36Speaker 1: If your minds were pure? Would I be plain unto
- 18:40Speaker 1: you according to the plainness of the truth, if ye
- 18:43Speaker 1: were freed from sin? Behold, if ye were holy, I
- 18:48Speaker 1: would speak unto you of holiness. But as ye are
- 18:51Speaker 1: not holy, and ye look upon me as a teacher,
- 18:55Speaker 1: it must needs be expedient that I teach you the
- 18:58Speaker 1: consequences of sin. Behold, my soul aboreth sin, and my
- 19:03Speaker 1: heart delighteth in righteousness, and I will praise the Holy
- 19:07Speaker 1: name of my God. Come, my brethren, every one that thirsteth,
- 19:13Speaker 1: come ye to the waters. And he that hath no money,
- 19:17Speaker 1: come by and eat yea come by wine and milk,
- 19:21Speaker 1: without money and without price. Wherefore, do not spend money
- 19:26Speaker 1: for that which is of no worth, nor your labor
- 19:30Speaker 1: for that which cannot satisfy. Hearken diligently unto me, and
- 19:35Speaker 1: remember the words which I have spoken, and come unto
- 19:38Speaker 1: the Holy One of Israel, and feast upon that which
- 19:41Speaker 1: perisheth not neither can be corrupted. And let your soul
- 19:46Speaker 1: delight in fatness. Behold, my beloved brethren, remember the words
- 19:50Speaker 1: of your God. Pray unto him continually by day, and
- 19:54Speaker 1: give thanks unto his holy name. By night. Let your
- 19:57Speaker 1: hearts rejoice, and behold, how great the covenants of the Lord,
- 20:03Speaker 1: and how great is condescensions unto the children of men.
- 20:07Speaker 1: And because of His greatness and his grace and mercy,
- 20:10Speaker 1: he has promised unto us that our seeds shall not
- 20:14Speaker 1: utterly be destroyed according to the flesh, but that He
- 20:17Speaker 1: would preserve them, and in future generations they shall become
- 20:21Speaker 1: a righteous branch unto the House of Israel. And now,
- 20:25Speaker 1: my brethren, I would speak unto you no more, but
- 20:29Speaker 1: on the morrow I will declare unto you the remainder
- 20:32Speaker 1: of my words. Amen. Chapter ten. And now I, Jacob
- 20:38Speaker 1: speak unto you again, my beloved brethren, concerning this righteous
- 20:42Speaker 1: branch of which I have spoken. For Behold, the promises
- 20:46Speaker 1: which we have obtained are promises unto us according to
- 20:50Speaker 1: the flesh. Wherefore, as it has been shown unto me
- 20:54Speaker 1: that many of our children shall perish in the flesh
- 20:58Speaker 1: because of unbelief, Nevertheless, God will be merciful unto many,
- 21:03Speaker 1: and our children shall be restored, that they may come
- 21:07Speaker 1: to that which will give them the true knowledge of
- 21:10Speaker 1: their redeemer. Wherefore, as I said unto you, it must
- 21:14Speaker 1: needs be expedient that Christ, For in the last night
- 21:18Speaker 1: the angels spake unto me that this should be his name,
- 21:22Speaker 1: should come among the Jews, among those who are the
- 21:25Speaker 1: more wicked part of the world, and they shall crucify him.
- 21:30Speaker 1: For thus it behooveth our God. And there is none
- 21:34Speaker 1: other nation on earth that would crucify their God. For
- 21:38Speaker 1: should the mighty miracles be wrought among other nations, they
- 21:42Speaker 1: would repent and know that he be their God. But
- 21:46Speaker 1: because of priest crafts and iniquities, they at Jerusalem will
- 21:50Speaker 1: stiffen their necks against him, that he be crucified. Wherefore,
- 21:55Speaker 1: because of their iniquities, destructions, famines, pestilencesnes and bloodshed shall
- 22:01Speaker 1: come upon them, and they who shall not be destroyed,
- 22:05Speaker 1: shall be scattered among all nations. But behold, thus saith
- 22:09Speaker 1: the Lord God, when the day cometh, that they shall
- 22:13Speaker 1: believe in me that I am Christ. Then have I
- 22:17Speaker 1: covenanted with their fathers, that they shall be restored in
- 22:21Speaker 1: the flesh upon the earth unto the lands of their inheritance.
- 22:27Speaker 1: And it shall come to pass that they shall be
- 22:29Speaker 1: gathered in from their long dispersion, from the isles of
- 22:33Speaker 1: the sea and from the four parts of the earth.
- 22:36Speaker 1: And the nations of the gentiles shall be great in
- 22:40Speaker 1: the eyes of me, saith God in carrying them forth
- 22:44Speaker 1: to the lands of their inheritance. Yea, the kings of
- 22:47Speaker 1: the gentiles shall be nursing fathers unto them, and their
- 22:51Speaker 1: queens shall become nursing mothers. Wherefore the promises of the
- 22:56Speaker 1: Lord are great unto the gentiles, for he hathken it.
- 23:00Speaker 1: And who can dispute, But behold, this land, said God,
- 23:06Speaker 1: shall be a land of Thine inheritance, And the gentiles
- 23:10Speaker 1: shall be blessed upon the land. And this land shall
- 23:13Speaker 1: be a land of liberty unto the gentiles. And there
- 23:17Speaker 1: shall be no kings upon the land who shall raise
- 23:20Speaker 1: up unto the gentiles, and I will fortify this land
- 23:24Speaker 1: against all other nations. And he that fighteth against Zion
- 23:28Speaker 1: shall perish. Saith God, for he that raiseth up a
- 23:33Speaker 1: king against me shall perish. For I, the Lord, the
- 23:37Speaker 1: King of Heaven, will be their king, and I will
- 23:40Speaker 1: be a light unto them forever that hear my words. Wherefore,
- 23:44Speaker 1: for this cause that my covenants may be fulfilled, which
- 23:48Speaker 1: I have made under the children of men, that I
- 23:50Speaker 1: will do unto them while they are in the flesh,
- 23:54Speaker 1: I must needs destroy the secret works of darkness, and
- 23:58Speaker 1: of murders, and of a bombas nations. Wherefore, he that
- 24:02Speaker 1: fighteth against Zion, both jew and gentile, both bond and free,
- 24:07Speaker 1: both male and female, shall perish. For they are they
- 24:12Speaker 1: who are the whore of all the earth. For they
- 24:15Speaker 1: who are not of me are against me. Saith our God,
- 24:19Speaker 1: for I will fulfill my promises which I have made
- 24:23Speaker 1: under the children of men, that I will do unto
- 24:26Speaker 1: them while they are in the flesh. Wherefore, my beloved brethren,
- 24:31Speaker 1: thus saith our God, I will afflict thy seed by
- 24:34Speaker 1: the hand of the gentiles. Nevertheless, I will soften the
- 24:39Speaker 1: hearts of the Gentiles, that they shall be like unto
- 24:42Speaker 1: a father to them. Wherefore the Gentiles shall be blessed
- 24:46Speaker 1: and numbered among the House of Israel. Wherefore I will
- 24:50Speaker 1: consecrate this land unto thy seed, and them who shall
- 24:54Speaker 1: be numbered among Thy seed forever, for the land of
- 24:58Speaker 1: their inheritance. For it is a choice land, saith God,
- 25:02Speaker 1: unto Me, above all other lands. Wherefore I will have
- 25:06Speaker 1: all men that dwell thereon, that they shall worship Me
- 25:10Speaker 1: saith God. And Now, my beloved brethren, seeing that our
- 25:15Speaker 1: merciful God has given us so great knowledge concerning these things,
- 25:20Speaker 1: let us remember him and lay aside our sins and
- 25:24Speaker 1: not hang down our heads, for we are not cast off. Nevertheless,
- 25:29Speaker 1: we have been driven out of the land of our inheritance,
- 25:33Speaker 1: but we have been led to a better land. For
- 25:35Speaker 1: the Lord has made the sea our path, and we
- 25:39Speaker 1: are upon an isle of the sea. But great are
- 25:42Speaker 1: the promises of the Lord unto them who are upon
- 25:45Speaker 1: the isles of the sea. Wherefore, as it says isles,
- 25:49Speaker 1: there must needs be more than this, And they are
- 25:53Speaker 1: inhabited also by our brethren. For behold, the Lord God
- 25:57Speaker 1: has led away from time to time from the House
- 26:00Speaker 1: of Israel according to His will and pleasure. And now behold,
- 26:05Speaker 1: the Lord remembereth all them who have been broken off.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Wherefore he remembereth us. Also. Therefore, cheer up your hearts,
- 26:15Speaker 1: and remember that ye are free to act for yourselves,
- 26:18Speaker 1: to choose the way of everlasting death or the way
- 26:22Speaker 1: of eternal life. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, reconcile yourselves to
- 26:28Speaker 1: the will of God and not to the will of
- 26:31Speaker 1: the devil and the flesh. And remember, after ye are
- 26:35Speaker 1: reconciled unto God, that it is only in and through
- 26:39Speaker 1: the grace of God that ye are saved. Wherefore, may
- 26:44Speaker 1: God raise you from death by the power of the Resurrection,
- 26:48Speaker 1: and also from everlasting death by the power of the Atonement,
- 26:52Speaker 1: that ye may be received unto the eternal Kingdom of God,
- 26:57Speaker 1: that ye may praise Him through grace Divine Amen. Chapter eleven.
- 27:04Speaker 1: And now Jacob spake many more things to my people
- 27:08Speaker 1: at that time. Nevertheless, only these things have I cause
- 27:13Speaker 1: to be written. For the things which I have written,
- 27:16Speaker 1: sufficeth me. And now I, Nephi, write more of the
- 27:21Speaker 1: words of Isaiah. For my soul delighteth in his words,
- 27:25Speaker 1: for I will liken his words unto my people, and
- 27:28Speaker 1: I will send them forth unto all my children. For
- 27:32Speaker 1: he verily saw my Redeemer, even as I have seen him,
- 27:37Speaker 1: and my brother Jacob also has seen him as I
- 27:41Speaker 1: have seen him. Wherefore I will send their words forth
- 27:45Speaker 1: unto my children, to prove unto them that my words
- 27:48Speaker 1: are true. Wherefore by the words of three God hath said,
- 27:53Speaker 1: I will establish my word. Nevertheless, God sendeth more witnesses,
- 27:58Speaker 1: and he proveth all his words. Behold, my soul delighteth,
- 28:03Speaker 1: improving unto my people the truth of the coming of Christ.
- 28:07Speaker 1: For for this end hath the law of Moses been given.
- 28:11Speaker 1: And all things which have been given of God from
- 28:14Speaker 1: the beginning of the world unto man, are the typifying
- 28:18Speaker 1: of Him. And also my soul delighteth in the covenance
- 28:22Speaker 1: of the Lord, which he hath made to our fathers. Yea,
- 28:26Speaker 1: my soul delighteth in His grace and in His justice
- 28:30Speaker 1: and power and mercy, in the great and eternal plan
- 28:34Speaker 1: of deliverance from death. And my soul delighteth in proving
- 28:39Speaker 1: unto my people that save Christ should come, all men
- 28:42Speaker 1: must perish. For if there be no Christ, there be
- 28:47Speaker 1: no God. And if there be no God, we are not,
- 28:51Speaker 1: for there could have been no creation. But there is
- 28:55Speaker 1: a God, and he is Christ, and he cometh in
- 28:58Speaker 1: the fullness of his own own time. And now I
- 29:02Speaker 1: write some of the words of Isaiah, that whoso of
- 29:05Speaker 1: my people shall see these words may lift up their
- 29:08Speaker 1: hearts and rejoice for all men. Now these are the words,
- 29:13Speaker 1: and ye may liken them unto you and unto all men.
- 29:17Speaker 1: End of Second Nephi, chapters eight to eleven.
