- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Swahili with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. We're picking up where we left off with hobbies. Lucas: Last time we learned 'Ninasoma' for reading and 'Ninacheza mpira' for playing ball. Luna: Yeah, that was fun. I want to say more about what I do in my free time. Lucas: Perfect. Today we'll add three more hobby phrases. First up: cooking. Luna: Oh, I love cooking. How do I say 'I cook'? Lucas: It's 'Ninapika'. Say it with me: Ninapika. Luna: Ninapika. Lucas: Yeah, that's it. 'Pika' is the verb for cook. So 'Ninapika' means I cook. Luna: Ninapika. I cook. Got it. Lucas: Now imagine someone asks you 'Unapenda kufanya nini?' — What do you like to do? Luna: Right, from last episode. So I can say 'Ninapika'. Lucas: Exactly. Next: drawing. To say 'I draw', it's 'Ninachora'. Luna: Ninachora. That sounds fun. Lucas: Good. 'Chora' is draw. So 'Ninachora' — I draw. Luna: Ninachora. Lucas: And one more: 'I read books'. That's 'Ninasoma vitabu'. Luna: Ninasoma vitabu. So 'soma' is read, and 'vitabu' is books. Lucas: Yes. You already knew 'Ninasoma' from before. Now we add 'vitabu'. Luna: Ninasoma vitabu. I read books. Lucas: Let's practice all three. Repeat after me: Ninapika. Luna: Ninapika. Lucas: Ninachora. Luna: Ninachora. Lucas: Ninasoma vitabu. Luna: Ninasoma vitabu. Lucas: Great. Now let's use them in a mini conversation. I'll ask you: Unapenda kufanya nini? Luna: Ninapika na ninasoma vitabu. Lucas: Ah, you cook and read books. I like that. So now you can talk about more hobbies. Luna: Yeah, I can say what I do in my free time. Lucas: And if you want to ask someone else, you already know 'Unapenda kufanya nini?' Luna: Right. So I could ask a friend: Unapenda kufanya nini?
