- 0:01Have you ever been in a discussion / ends up being like
- 0:06an argument over things that really don't matter.
- 0:10Things that you feel like you are, right.
- 0:15And the person that you have a disagreement with probably feel
- 0:18like they have it right too. Maybe something trivial.
- 0:24Like do you actually squeeze your toothpaste from the bottom
- 0:28of the thing? Or do you like squeeze it in the
- 0:31middle? Like you're strangling?
- 0:32Someone which one is the proper way or does the toilet paper
- 0:36actually go from the top over? Or does it go on the under?
- 0:41You see we have yes, and I'm seeing some looking at the other
- 0:43partner saying. Yeah, it's over.
- 0:45I told you it's over these things.
- 0:48Really don't matter. All of, you know, Kyle but
- 0:53column best Lee. We're in the situation like
- 0:55this. And Kyle said, he called me.
- 1:00He said, look. We're in this disagreement. and
- 1:05normally Bethany's always right, but I really feel like I'm right
- 1:09this time and he says We're trying to figure out, did Drew
- 1:15their older, son. Did he ever play baseball?
- 1:20And I'm like, what? He's like, I believe he played
- 1:24baseball and you were his coach and I was his coach and it is
- 1:30funny because Bethany's like he's never played baseball in
- 1:32his life and it just happened that that week Mallory was
- 1:37upstairs in our attic and she opened up like this Bennett had
- 1:41pictures in it and she had seen a picture of our whole t-ball
- 1:45team. And there's Kyle, this coach me
- 1:48as a coach, my brother died. As coach and all our kids in
- 1:51front, malli did not want to prove Bethenny wrong, but she
- 1:56went up graciously and got that picture.
- 1:58And I took a picture of it and we sent it to Kyle and I can see
- 2:01Colin the other hand just jumping up and down.
- 2:03I'm right. I'm right.
- 2:04I'm finally right? Yes, and he shows Bethenny the
- 2:07picture and he's like, here's proof.
- 2:10Yes, he actually played baseball.
- 2:13And so it's one of those where, you know, we might have fun
- 2:16going over trying to figure out different things, different
- 2:19discussions or different, disagreements that we might
- 2:22have. But in the end.
- 2:25It really doesn't matter. But sometimes this also happens
- 2:29when it comes to religious matters.
- 2:32Things that are a little more important things that not a
- 2:37little. They are important things that
- 2:40determine salvation or not. And I know you guys probably
- 2:46heard this and you'd probably had this discussion with
- 2:48individuals and they probably will probably say we're just
- 2:50going to have to agree to disagree.
- 2:53We're going to have to agree that no matter what.
- 2:55I tell you. You're not going to change your
- 2:57mind. No matter what you, take you to
- 2:59me, no matter what you show in scripture.
- 3:00You're not going to change your mind.
- 3:03We'll just let God handle it when we get in heaven.
- 3:09Or maybe it's like well, you know, I'm just gonna do the best
- 3:12I can and I'm gonna pick and choose what I want to do.
- 3:14And then when I get to heaven, it's God's grace that's going to
- 3:18cover all the rest, you know, the Bible is not really a set
- 3:22code. It's just like a suggestion on
- 3:24things that we could do. I know from the heads that are
- 3:29nodding you've experienced this. But, you know, there, when we
- 3:34read scripture, there are certain situations, certain
- 3:37things that as we go through God.
- 3:40Through the inspiration, hasn't told his the apostles.
- 3:43Those I write the New Testament that there are things that we
- 3:46can forever know that can be forever settled.
- 3:49That there is no questioning if it's right or wrong.
- 3:55There is no discussion as far as is it just a cultural thing.
- 3:58Is it just something about the lifestyle is that their social
- 4:01thing that's happening right now and they have a specific way of
- 4:05doing that. And the way they do it.
- 4:10Is they might put a phrase as it was in the beginning?
- 4:14Or in the beginning, God created them male and female.
- 4:19God uses. Creation.
- 4:24He goes all the way back to Creation, the way that he
- 4:26designed it. The way, the only time that we
- 4:28see and when it was created, it was very good in God's eyes.
- 4:33Why? Because it is correct, is the
- 4:35way he designed it to be. And so when we go through
- 4:39scripture, there's certain issue, certain topics that Our
- 4:45forever. Black and white in regards to
- 4:48they are. Right?
- 4:50Or they are wrong because God has said, this is how it was
- 4:54when I created it, you know, there might have been some
- 4:57deviations from the time he created it, but then when Christ
- 5:00comes back and says no now, this is how it's supposed to be.
- 5:04And from now on, that's where how it's supposed to be because
- 5:08he knows exactly how it's supposed to be created.
- 5:10And so, we're going to discuss this is one of my friends read
- 5:13Swindle. He did several lessons on these
- 5:18and I listen to someone, and I call him.
- 5:20I said, hey, do you mind if I kind of adapt this a little bit,
- 5:22you mind, if I kind of use this in a lesson?
- 5:24He's like, yeah, go ahead just do whatever.
- 5:27And I say, I might try it all in one.
- 5:28He's like, yeah, good luck with that.
- 5:31And as I started doing these lessons, I realize, yeah,
- 5:33there's no way I can do that. So, I'm going to basically have
- 5:36two questions that we're going to deal with and maybe
- 5:39eventually I'll be able to discuss the other the other ones
- 5:42later, at least two of the other ones as well.
- 5:45But as we go and second, Timothy 3:16 Says, all scripture is
- 5:49given by inspiration, God and.and profitable for all these
- 5:53things for correction for proof. So that what we the men of God
- 5:57might be pure holy in his Eyes, in other words, God, through his
- 6:04inspiration. Has told us, we have everything
- 6:06we need for our Salvation written in his book.
- 6:11We have everything that God wants us to know, in order to be
- 6:13saved everything that we need to know when we come to different
- 6:16issues and topics they're here. And you know, unfortunately it
- 6:21is this basic fundamental truth. That people seem to deviate from
- 6:26all the way at the beginning. I know that's what the word of
- 6:30God says, but God's going to understand.
- 6:34He's loving, he wants me to be happy.
- 6:38His grace is going to cover all those other things even though I
- 6:40know it says in God's word, you know.
- 6:44No, God says we have everything we need.
- 6:46If we just go by what it says in here.
- 6:52John 14:15, we do this with the kids.
- 6:55If you love me, keep my Commandments.
- 6:59If you love me, keep my Commandments all.
- 7:00Also Matthew 7:21. It says not everyone used to
- 7:03come says unto me. Lord Lord shall enter the
- 7:05kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of the Father Who
- 7:09Art in Heaven, so he's saying if you love me then Keep what I
- 7:13have here. Follow it.
- 7:17If you love me, then when I say to do those things, you're not
- 7:20just going to hear, but you're going to be a doer of that word
- 7:23as well. The topics that I'm going to be
- 7:27talking about or issues that not only divided, individuals
- 7:32congregations people, but their issues that when we look at it,
- 7:38God has settled it already. And it's a heart issue for us
- 7:43because we know how it affects families individuals.
- 7:49It affects what Society wants to call happiness, and I know it's
- 7:56a sensitive issue, but I want us to look at this in a different
- 7:59way where, you know, God's already settled it and it goes
- 8:04all the way back to Creation. Question.
- 8:14Number one comes from Matthew chapter, 19.
- 8:18Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any
- 8:21reason? Ternes me there?
- 8:26Matthew chapter 19. We're actually going to start in
- 8:30verse 3. You see the Pharisees came to
- 8:34him Fern to Christ testing him and saying to him.
- 8:38Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any
- 8:42reason? Here's the question.
- 8:45Pharisees those that knew the law.
- 8:49Wanted to come and ask Christ. Is it okay?
- 8:56Is it lawful? The man can versus wife for any
- 9:01reason. Let's say, hey, we got married.
- 9:05When we were really young. We really didn't know what we
- 9:08were doing. And, and now he's over these 20
- 9:12years. We've just caught a falling out
- 9:14of love. We're not really there anymore.
- 9:16And so we decided, we're just going to get a divorce.
- 9:18Now. We've, we're married to other
- 9:21individuals. There's no Fidelity whatsoever
- 9:23in our marriage before, but we're now happy.
- 9:30That's the question. Can you divorce for just any
- 9:33reason? You see our culture, our
- 9:38society. They can't answer that question
- 9:42for us. They can't answer that question
- 9:45because God has given us the answer to it.
- 9:50As time changes as culture changes as our own life
- 9:54experience. Change, that doesn't change what
- 9:57God has said in his word. And it's a hard topic, not
- 10:04because God's word doesn't tell us, it's a hard topic because of
- 10:07the emotions that's filled with in this topic and how it affects
- 10:12families and lives. So, please, please please,
- 10:16please, please understand. This is not one of those topics.
- 10:18I'm like, yes, I just can't wait to do this because I can't wait
- 10:21to just tell everyone about this is no know if I could, I
- 10:24probably wouldn't want to do that.
- 10:26But you know what? God, commands us to teach the
- 10:28whole truth. And I want to maybe bring help
- 10:33us to better understand this topic.
- 10:36By showing another form of reasoning that, you know, God's
- 10:41already settled it for us. And that's from when he created
- 10:44the world. Let's see how Jesus answered.
- 10:54First five, I mean verse 4 and he Christ answered and said to
- 10:59them, have you not read that? He who made them at the
- 11:02beginning, made them male and female.
- 11:04Think this is very, very interesting because all right,
- 11:07the Pharisees know the law and then Christ is saying, have you
- 11:10not read, of course, they've read.
- 11:13Remember Christ already knows. They're testing them and he
- 11:16says, he who created them in the beginning.
- 11:20That's from our scripture. First, John you want to turn
- 11:24their turn with their with me? First John chapter 1.
- 11:28Look at verse 3, in all things were made through him who
- 11:32Christ. And without him, nothing was
- 11:35made crisis saying, he who made all things at the beginning who
- 11:41me Who knows what it is? Like, at the beginning.
- 11:45Me, who knows? Exactly how it's supposed to be
- 11:47at the beginning. Me, who knows what God wants to
- 11:51happen, how it's supposed to be, I do.
- 11:55Christ saying I do and we see that as we continue on.
- 12:00He said, He who made all things at the beginning, made them male
- 12:04and female and for this reason a man shall leave his father and
- 12:09mother be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh.
- 12:17So Christ is saying the one who created all things knows exactly
- 12:20what's supposed to happen. And he said when God, when
- 12:24Christ created this thing, he institute's Adam Eve.
- 12:27They're married. They have kids, they have this
- 12:29family. There.
- 12:30Is that join Union? And God says, that's how it's
- 12:33supposed to be. God wants the family and we see
- 12:39all the way from creation that that family unit is so unique
- 12:43because he wants the family to have that Purity within it.
- 12:46He also wants the church which is a church family to have that
- 12:49Purity in it. What family are we?
- 12:50We are the Lord's family. He's saying that's how it's
- 12:54supposed to be all the way back from creation.
- 12:57Man woman join together. You see all car culture?
- 13:00God has allowed our culture to determine when someone is
- 13:04married. When the marriage starts u.s.
- 13:07You have like a wedding ceremony and then you are proclaimed.
- 13:12Husband and wife. Well, that's not the same
- 13:15everywhere. Else and foreign country over
- 13:18there. I heard that to be married.
- 13:21You basically you have a stick in front of you, you hold hands
- 13:24and you jump over the stick. You know, how many kids would be
- 13:26Mary? Around here, but that is their
- 13:31culture as far as to become man, and wife in that, in that
- 13:34Civilization. So God, has allowed our culture
- 13:37determine when a marriage happens.
- 13:43I'll go back to Matthew, Matthew chapter 5.
- 13:48I mean, verse 6. So then they are no longer two,
- 13:51but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined
- 13:53together. Let no man separate God allows
- 13:56the culture to determine when someone's married, but God's the
- 13:59one that unites them God's. The one, that joins them
- 14:02together. God is the one that makes them
- 14:05one. The culture allows you to
- 14:08determine when you're married, but God, someone that unites
- 14:10them together. And he says, therefore what God
- 14:17has joined together. Let not man separate.
- 14:25What's Happening? Here is God saying, you know
- 14:30culture, you can do this. You can determine when they're
- 14:32married. I'm going to join them together.
- 14:36And what God's put together there shouldn't be any reason
- 14:39for them to be separated. Now, he gives us a reason but
- 14:43not all the reasons that mankind our society has given us, you
- 14:48know, I believe I was up in Huntsville, Alabama.
- 14:50When I saw this, you see Billboards all over the tongue
- 14:54and this one specifically said, hate your wife.
- 14:58Divorcer. 250 dollars. And a phone number is marriage,
- 15:04worth only $250. The sanctity of what God has
- 15:09joined together, only worth 250 bucks, but that's all it took.
- 15:13You call this number. You're like, yeah.
- 15:14I don't like my wife. My wife anymore, or I don't like
- 15:17my husband anymore. We're going to get a divorce.
- 15:19Here's 250 bucks. Let's do it.
- 15:23God saying, I don't think so. Because God is the one that
- 15:28joins them together. And I can go down to our culture
- 15:33and go down to the courthouse. And I can pay that $250 and I
- 15:37can go and get this little piece of paper that says now, I'm
- 15:39divorced. But you know what to God, you're
- 15:41still married. You're still joined together.
- 15:46That's why I saying, what God has put together that no man
- 15:49separate, but he explains more. As we keep going, Matthew
- 15:55chapter 19. Then Pharisees.
- 16:00Thought they had them and they said to him, but why then did
- 16:05Moses command to give a certificate of divorce and to
- 16:09put her away. If you're looking for that.
- 16:12It's found to Deuteronomy chapter 24 verses verses 1
- 16:15through 4. These are the Pharisees, they
- 16:21know the law, they're seeing it and they're trying to question
- 16:25Christ. Christ is saying I was there at
- 16:27the beginning. I know exactly how it's supposed
- 16:29to be formed and that would beginning.
- 16:30Its man and woman together for life.
- 16:34It's man and woman together. Now during that time, until when
- 16:40Christ comes on Earth. There is a deviation from that.
- 16:45In Christ. Explains it.
- 16:48And he said to them, Moses because of the hardness of your
- 16:52heart. And here's the correction.
- 16:54The Pharisee says they commanded it.
- 16:57The Pharisee says that Moses commanded in crisis have no,
- 17:00that's not it. Look he permitted.
- 17:05You divorce your your wives, but from the beginning beginning of
- 17:10one from creation. It was not so twice in this
- 17:16passage. God is Christ is going all the
- 17:18way back to the beginning. So this is how it's supposed to
- 17:22be. Yes, there is a deviation from
- 17:24it because the hardness of your hearts, but But that's not how
- 17:28it's supposed to be. This is how God instituted.
- 17:31This is how God wants it to be in.
- 17:34This is how it's going to be pure.
- 17:36This is how it's going to be the happiest that you can be is if
- 17:40you abide by what God has set up.
- 17:45You see when God created marriage.
- 17:47It wasn't an accident. It wasn't something that he just
- 17:51unintentionally did is something that was very intentional.
- 17:54And as we read through God's word, we can see how important
- 17:58that family is all throughout scripture.
- 18:02Because we see it not only in the physical sense, but we also
- 18:04see it in the spiritual sense. This keep going.
- 18:12Verse 9 and I who is I Christ? Who is I The Creator?
- 18:17Who is are the one that put it together that formulated that it
- 18:21created I say to you. whoever, you know, this is another
- 18:30interesting thing. whoever, You know who that encompasses?
- 18:42Whoever at this time period whoever at time period after
- 18:47this whoever in the future, whoever divorces his wife except
- 18:53for sexual immorality and marries another commits adultery
- 18:56and whoever marries her, who is divorced, commits adultery.
- 19:01Christ is settling at right here by specifically, talking about,
- 19:06whoever I know what it's like, how it's supposed to be at the
- 19:10beginning because I was there, I created it.
- 19:15And now, because people are going to say, well, wait, wait,
- 19:17wait, wait, wait, wait, wait just a second here.
- 19:22We got married when we were young.
- 19:25We weren't Christians. And then we got divorced.
- 19:31And then I married again, there's no infidelity and
- 19:33whatsoever in the marriage and then we got married again, and
- 19:37then I became religious. And so, when I was baptized all
- 19:43my sins were forgiven. Therefore.
- 19:45I'm fine, and I can continue in that.
- 19:50Marriage relationship. That doesn't work.
- 19:56And let me explain why. Because baptism alone does not
- 20:01just save you repentance. Also saves, you repentant is
- 20:07turning away from that which separates you from God.
- 20:09And that's in if adultery is sin before you're married, adultery
- 20:13is still sin. When you're married, if adultery
- 20:16is sin, that didn't make sense, did it.
- 20:18If adultery is sin as far as when before you're a Christian,
- 20:24adultery is still a sin. When you are a Christian, let me
- 20:28give you example for this. I'm a robber and I steal from a
- 20:33bank. And as soon as I have the money,
- 20:35I run over to the church building.
- 20:37I asked when the elders go ahead and baptize me.
- 20:38Alright, my sins are washed away.
- 20:40I can keep the money know that. That doesn't work.
- 20:43We understand that. That doesn't make sense.
- 20:44Why? Because I committed an act that
- 20:46was a sin and I need to be reprimanded or I need to have
- 20:49the consequences of that sin. Same thing, I murder someone and
- 20:54I come right over here and I wash them.
- 20:57My sins is that mean, I'm totally gone and I have no, I
- 21:01don't have to serve the retribution from that.
- 21:04No. but because there's so much emotion stuff sit around the
- 21:11idea of marriage and divorce and remarriage.
- 21:15We think it's okay. Again, I want us to understand
- 21:21it's not the culture. That's determining it anymore.
- 21:24It's no longer. Just what we feel or what we
- 21:26think. It Christ has brought it all the
- 21:29way back to the creation. Cultures change from creation on
- 21:32to where we are today a lot. The Christ is saying, the
- 21:37culture doesn't determine it. I've determined it when I
- 21:41created it. And so, the question is far as
- 21:46can we divorce for any reason. No.
- 21:57Because Christ had just told us, that's the way it's supposed to
- 22:00be all the way when I created it.
- 22:04When it was good when it was very good.
- 22:10And no matter how my emotions are, no matter how it affects my
- 22:14family, no matter how, I wish we didn't have to say it.
- 22:21That's what God's word says. And if you think that's a really
- 22:29hard statement, you're exactly right.
- 22:32And that's exactly what the Apostle said to look at verse
- 22:3610. His disciples said to him, if
- 22:39such is the case of man with his wife.
- 22:41It's better not to marry. Why?
- 22:44He's like, there's no way out. Especially at this time.
- 22:49The infidelity was not as rampant as well.
- 22:52It was but not as much with the Jews.
- 22:55And they're saying, if that's the case.
- 22:56And and we just have to deal with it, then it's better not to
- 22:59marry. Why?
- 23:01Because it's such a serious thing.
- 23:03Love is not just a motion. Or, as I heard growing up.
- 23:08It's not a feeling that you feel when you get a feeling that
- 23:09you've never felt before. It is something that you work
- 23:14on. It is something that grows.
- 23:16It is something that you know what?
- 23:18I take the good and the bad. Why?
- 23:20Because I love you, no matter what.
- 23:23That's love. That is the agape, love that,
- 23:28God has for us and that's what he wants within our relationship
- 23:32and marriage, but Society is totally throwing that out the
- 23:35window and we need to get back to.
- 23:38What does God's word say? And when God's word says, this
- 23:42is the reason for it. And why how do we know it's not
- 23:45dealing with culture because he goes past all culture and he
- 23:48goes back to the beginning says, this is why because I created it
- 23:52and this is what is best. Matthew chapter 14.
- 24:06Matthew chapter 14. I think this is so interesting.
- 24:10Matthew chapter 14 talks about John.
- 24:14This is at that time verse one Herod, the tetrarch heard
- 24:18reports about Jesus and said to his servants.
- 24:21This is John, the Baptist. He is risen from the dead and
- 24:23therefore, these powers are at work in him for Herod had laid,
- 24:27hold of John and bound him and put him in prison for the sake
- 24:30of herodias. His brother Philips wife because
- 24:33John had said to him, it is not lawful for you to have her.
- 24:38Here's an example. You know what?
- 24:40John, you know what Christ describes John ass.
- 24:45And Matthew Chapter 11. Verse 11.
- 24:49It says there has been never been a person on the planet as
- 24:54good as or greater than him. Referring to John.
- 25:01Why was John in prison? Because he realized and he knew
- 25:08that this marriage. Divorce thing was not a cultural
- 25:11thing, was not just for the Jews.
- 25:13He went and told Herod it was not right for him to have his
- 25:17brother's wife. Now, if it is the case that you
- 25:26know will, once once you're baptized then all that's
- 25:30forgiving John was about to die because he realized that this
- 25:36was right and and people will say well, he's still under the
- 25:40Old Law. Yes, but what did he do?
- 25:41What was he doing? He was here preaching about
- 25:45salvation, his preaching of repentance and he is preaching
- 25:48of the Forgiveness of your sins. Why was he being?
- 25:50Why was he baptized? Those for the Forgiveness of
- 25:52their sins. And if we think, well, if you
- 25:56just become a Christian, you have your sins washed away, then
- 26:00you're fine to stay in that marriage.
- 26:02Then why didn't John tell Herod that?
- 26:07Hey Jonna, I mean here at I know I know this is really troubling
- 26:11for you. I know that you have your
- 26:12brother's wife and but here I got something for you.
- 26:15Here's way to get around it. Okay, you just come I'll baptize
- 26:18you and wanting and you guys can stay the Way You Are.
- 26:24Because John didn't do that. John be inspired by the word of
- 26:27God knew that wouldn't do it and because of that John was
- 26:30beheaded and he died because he stood up for what God wanted.
- 26:37And that's the truth. You see in this situation here.
- 26:45Christ went back all the way to Creation.
- 26:49And because Christ goes back all the way to Creation.
- 26:52It settles it. And a discussion.
- 26:59My emotions. My feelings, my thoughts.
- 27:05Doesn't compare to what God had planned from the beginning.
- 27:13And we need to do what God desires more than our own
- 27:16desire. Even when it's hard.
- 27:26Because what is our number one goal in life is to be with him,
- 27:29eternally. And what's the only way that we
- 27:32can be with him? Eternally.
- 27:33It's by abiding by his word and making sure that we are pure in
- 27:36his eyes. And if we're living in sin as
- 27:44Christ calls adultery. We can't be with him.
- 27:51And I hope you understand. I'm going to say this in the
- 27:56most loving way that I can. Because it's not my words.
- 28:02It's What God Says. That's what we are going to be
- 28:06judged by. Question number two.
- 28:12Yeah, it's just getting harder. Can a Christian say
- 28:17homosexuality is wrong? In a Christians, say,
- 28:22homosexuality is wrong. Let me give you some statistics
- 28:254.5% of this nation of done identifies as homosexuals.
- 28:30Sixty-seven percent of this nation.
- 28:33Believes. It is morally acceptable.
- 28:37Thirty percent believe is morally wrong.
- 28:42The here's the thing that when you do the math, it doesn't make
- 28:44sense. 75% of this nation, believe it should be legal or
- 28:50okay for them to be married. You seen the math, you 30
- 28:56percent believe that is morally wrong than some of that 30% is
- 29:00saying, it's morally wrong, but it's okay, if they get married,
- 29:04I'm just going to stay out of it.
- 29:06I'm not going to deal with it. It's all right, for them to get
- 29:09married. If it's morally wrong.
- 29:11Then we are saying then. They are separating themselves
- 29:14from God and if they're separating themselves from God
- 29:17and I say it's fine. I don't love those people.
- 29:20Because if I love those people, then I'm concerned about their
- 29:23soul. And I'm not going to watch them
- 29:27and agree with them and accept them as they traveled the road
- 29:31to damnation. Isaiah 5:20 says woe to those
- 29:41who call evil good and good evil, who put Darkness for light
- 29:44and light, for Darkness who put bitter for sweet and Sweet for
- 29:46bitter. You know, why all this is
- 29:50happening. It's because we're falling into
- 29:51the things that we see on TV. You see TV is putting it up in
- 29:56there. They're highlighting it and
- 29:59they're saying, oh, it's not a sin.
- 30:01It's just an alternate lifestyle.
- 30:04You can call Anything by a different name.
- 30:06But if it's in, it's still sin, no matter what we call it.
- 30:10But unfortunately, our society is starting to accept it.
- 30:18And embrace it. Turns me to Romans chapter 1.
- 30:25Romans chapter 1. Paul here is introducing himself
- 30:29to the Romans. He's never been there.
- 30:31He's never seen them. He's never talked with him, and
- 30:33he's designed to go to them, and he kind of introduces himself,
- 30:37kind of talks a little bit about himself and then we get to
- 30:41Romans 1:16. So I've just introduced you
- 30:44don't really know me yet. But this is Paul here.
- 30:47Let me give you a little information and he says verse
- 30:4916, for I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the
- 30:53power of God to Salvation for everyone, who believes for the
- 30:56Jews personals. The Greeks 4 verse 17 in it.
- 31:01The righteousness of God is revealed from Faith to Faith.
- 31:04As it is written, the just shall live by faith.
- 31:10As far as introducing yourself to the Romans and they gets
- 31:12there in saying, hey, I just told you a little bit about
- 31:15myself. I just want you to know I'm not
- 31:16ashamed of the Gospel of God. Why?
- 31:19Because it has salvation within it.
- 31:21It is God's word to those that are righteous.
- 31:28He's wanting them to know something.
- 31:30He's wanting him to know. This is who I am and I'm not
- 31:33ashamed of the gospel and we're going to find out exactly why he
- 31:36is saying this because as we look at the context, it doesn't
- 31:39end there. He continues on and he's proving
- 31:41why he's not a shame because he's going to have to confront
- 31:43things that the Romans probably don't want to hear.
- 31:50I'm not ashamed of the Gospel of God of God, because he brings
- 31:53belt salvation Verse 18. Remember verse 17 says, he's
- 31:59righteous. Verse 18 for the wrath of God is
- 32:03revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and ungodliness of
- 32:07man, who what suppress the truth in unrighteousness.
- 32:13He's on the Romans. No, look, I'm not afraid.
- 32:16I'm not ashamed of the Gospel. Because I'm not ashamed.
- 32:20It's because we have salvation through it.
- 32:23But God also who is righteous. He's just he also is going to
- 32:27have wrath on those that are unjust.
- 32:29Who unrighteous those? That suppress the truth.
- 32:33Two others. And now I know you guys are
- 32:38probably thinking, I thought this was about creation.
- 32:40Settles it. What does?
- 32:47If you look at Romans 1:20. We're going to start verse 19
- 32:52here because what may be known of God is Manifest in them for
- 32:57God has shown it to them. What has he shown to them his
- 33:01righteousness for since what the creation of the world?
- 33:06His invisible attributes are clearly seen being understood by
- 33:09the things that are made even his eternal power and godhead so
- 33:13that they are, who are they? If you go back up, Remember
- 33:17Verse 18, they those who suppress the truth.
- 33:22Are without excuse. Paul's introducing himself.
- 33:30Tells him, he's not ashamed of the Gospel.
- 33:33Why? Because their salvation found
- 33:35within it. There's wrath that's going to
- 33:37come to those that are unrighteous to those that are
- 33:40suppressing the truth. And he said that truth is being
- 33:43suppressed because no one has an excuse, because if you just look
- 33:47around you, you can see God everywhere.
- 33:51You can see God. and as we keep going, there's more to it.
- 34:02Let's look at 21 22 and so on because there's no excuse.
- 34:09Why? Because although they knew God,
- 34:12they did not glorify him as God nor we're thankful.
- 34:14But because it became futile in their thoughts and their foolish
- 34:18Hearts were darkened, professing to be wise, they became fools
- 34:23and changed the glory of The Incorruptible.
- 34:25God into an image. Into an idol.
- 34:31Into thing. That is it a testament and
- 34:34Abomination to God and made like corruptible, man, and birds, and
- 34:38four-footed, animals and creeping things.
- 34:42Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness.
- 34:46And the lust of their hearts to dishonor their bodies among
- 34:49themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie and
- 34:53worshipped and served the creature rather than the
- 34:56Creator. Who is blessed forever.
- 34:59Amen. I'm going to stop right there,
- 35:01and we will continue in just a second.
- 35:03But here, as he is reading through this, he's saying
- 35:06there's no excuse for you to not know that there is a God for.
- 35:09You can see it all around you. But the Romans here are taking
- 35:12those things that they can see all around them and they're
- 35:14saying, you know, we're going to take the creature that God has
- 35:17made, and we're going to make him our God.
- 35:24The Romans are suppressing. What is really the truth?
- 35:26There is a God, there is one true God.
- 35:29And they're now saying that. It's alright.
- 35:30We can just make those things that God created that we can see
- 35:34around us and we're going to make him our own God.
- 35:37Do you see how that could anger God?
- 35:39The wrath of God would be upon them because they are taking
- 35:42what they know could be right. People are suppressing.
- 35:44What is true? That there is a God.
- 35:46And now they're saying now we're going to make this creature, Our
- 35:50God rather than the Creator. They are now worshipping or they
- 35:59have exchanged the true God for a lie.
- 36:05Of a man made God. God doesn't want this.
- 36:11He's tired of it. And so he goes.
- 36:19He goes on. Two verse 26.
- 36:25He says for this reason you see he's connecting all these things
- 36:30now. For this reason.
- 36:36He's connecting the creation and his authority.
- 36:39He's connecting the creation of his power.
- 36:41He's connecting the worshiping of the creature rather than the
- 36:43Creator the Creator. And he settles this issue.
- 36:54For this reason, God gave them over to vile passions, who those
- 36:58that were believing in this lie. Those that were Following
- 37:03unrighteousness, those that have taken, what God has made a made
- 37:07that that image of those things and start worshipping these
- 37:11idols. He gave them over to vile
- 37:15passions for even their women exchanged, the natural use of
- 37:18what is against nature. Likewise.
- 37:20Also, the men leaving the natural use of the woman burned
- 37:23in their lust, for the other men.
- 37:25With men committing, what is shameful and receiving in
- 37:28themselves. The penalty of their error,
- 37:31which was Dune look in verse. 26 exchanged, the natural use for
- 37:39what is against nature. This is not Mother Nature.
- 37:42He's talking about what I created, what I began from the
- 37:46beginning. It's against nature.
- 37:48It's against how I determine it. It's against how I created its
- 37:52against what was supposed to happen.
- 37:56Because you guys believed in this lie, and because you guys
- 37:59are falling, I do I'm allowing this to happen.
- 38:03I'm allowing you to do base yourself.
- 38:04I'm allowing you to do these things.
- 38:06Not because I want it because you guys are going to do it
- 38:08anyways. He's saying, but that's not how
- 38:11it's supposed to be. Creation tells us that that is
- 38:16not how God created it. Look at these three things is
- 38:22against nature verse 27. Committed.
- 38:27What is shameful because of our audience?
- 38:28I can't give you the actual definition of this.
- 38:30It is not the definition that you read in Webster's
- 38:34Dictionary. If you go back and look at
- 38:36Strong's Dictionary, if you go back, look at Thayer's or others
- 38:39and you look up what this word actually means.
- 38:43It's a lot worse than what we're thinking.
- 38:45Shameful is. And because of this, they've
- 38:51received in themselves, the penalty of error, which was due.
- 38:57Let me give you a little bit of background for the Romans.
- 39:02Preference on who someone was with was not connected to
- 39:06masculinity. Okay, this time, let's say I am
- 39:12a warrior. Strong Warrior.
- 39:15It was not determine. Hey, if I had another mail or if
- 39:19I had a child or something and I was living with them.
- 39:22They'll that had no determination in regards to if
- 39:26there are masculine person or not.
- 39:29It was accepted in that culture. In other words, in many times.
- 39:34It was actually approved of because of the Gods in which
- 39:36they Fellowship tour they worshipped.
- 39:42And so this was a common thing. Which makes me understand a
- 39:47little more. Why?
- 39:50When we go back to verse 17. For in it, the righteousness of
- 39:56God is revealed. This is why Paul is talking in
- 39:59beginning, his discussion in his introduction says I'm not
- 40:02ashamed of the Gospel of God. For it brings salvation.
- 40:06Why is he not ashamed? Because He is wanting them to
- 40:08understand because I'm going to tell you a few things that you
- 40:11guys just probably don't understand because you have been
- 40:14ingrained so much by your culture that you guys are living
- 40:17in sin. I'm going to call what is right,
- 40:20right, and I'm going to explain to you what is wrong and it is
- 40:22wrong because it's against God's word.
- 40:24It's against what how God created things and the order in
- 40:27which he did it. He said, because of that,
- 40:30there's wrath that God has for the unjust, the unrighteous.
- 40:35And those that are saying it's okay, those that are covering up
- 40:39the LIE. They're suppressing that truth.
- 40:53You want to know what God really thinks about it.
- 40:55Go to Leviticus. The video Kiss chapter 18, that
- 41:00whole entire chapter is dealing with sexual morality.
- 41:05We're going to look at verse 21 22.
- 41:08And it says, and you shall not let any of your descendants pass
- 41:12through the fires of Molech nor shall your profane, the name of
- 41:15your of your God? I am the Lord.
- 41:17You shall not lie with a male as with a woman.
- 41:20It is an Abomination. I think it's very interesting as
- 41:23we read in the Old Testament. And as we read in the New
- 41:26Testament, that homosexuality is linked with idolatry.
- 41:33And you're like, well, we don't have a Dollar Tree today.
- 41:36What is idolatry? It is basically that we are
- 41:39putting something else in place of God.
- 41:42And if I'm placing my own desires, my own lust in front of
- 41:46God and his word. Guess what?
- 41:49It's becoming an idol. When you go back to James,
- 41:53chapter 1, It says that we are drawn away by our own lusts and
- 41:58less are fulfilled. It is a sin.
- 42:02That's what's Happening Here. The Romans are becoming or the
- 42:07Romans and made themselves their own Idols.
- 42:09Our nation has made themselves their own Al's Idols because you
- 42:12know, this is that humanistic mindset.
- 42:14It is all about me. I'm going to fulfill whatever I
- 42:19want to no matter what other people say.
- 42:21And the only way that I'm going to do that is getting rid of
- 42:23God, getting rid of his word and I can just do whatever I want
- 42:26and then we hear this mindset. You guys are just haters.
- 42:32God is love and if God's loved and he's going to love you, no
- 42:35matter what. Please please please.
- 42:38Please understand us. We have to have this mindset.
- 42:42We do not hate those who are homosexuals.
- 42:48We hate the practice. Of homosexuality.
- 42:54God loves their soul. We need to love their soul.
- 43:00And God tells us commands us to teach.
- 43:04And too many times we fall back and we do not, we avoid them, we
- 43:08try to shun them and we avoid what is truly loved and that is
- 43:12teaching them the love of God and the truth about it, you
- 43:17know, there's so many pastors that we can go to.
- 43:18We can go First Corinthians where it talks about and many of
- 43:21you were this, what their homosexuals, but they left it to
- 43:24follow God. But when we go back and we look
- 43:29at this verse again, creation is settling it, it's against
- 43:33nature. It's the way God created it.
- 43:38But what's interesting as well? It's going to go to Romans, back
- 43:46to Romans chapter 1. 28 on. Talks about all these
- 43:55unrighteous things that the Romans were doing.
- 43:57They're filled with unrighteousness verse 29 sexual
- 44:00immorality wickedness, covetousness.
- 44:02Maliciousness full of Envy murder Strife, deceit, full of
- 44:06Might evil mindedness. They are Whisperers backbiters
- 44:08haters of God, violent proud boasters, inventors of evil
- 44:11things disobedient, to parents undiscerning untrustworthy,
- 44:15unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful who verse 32 knowing
- 44:19the righteous judge of God. Remember, this is going all the
- 44:22way back now going. Over 17 going back to 18.
- 44:25God is just he is right. That's why Paul is not ashamed
- 44:28of the Gospel of God because it has salvation he is right.
- 44:34Knowing the righteousness of God and those who practice such
- 44:37things are deserving of death. Leviticus. 20:13, says anyone
- 44:41who practice these things. What homosexuality Were to be
- 44:46put to death physical death. We are now in New Testament is
- 44:51no longer this, the punishment of which God talks about is no
- 44:54longer that physical death. It is the spiritual death.
- 44:56You are separating yourself from God.
- 45:03A lot of times we just stop there.
- 45:08We don't finish it up. Because in the last part of
- 45:12first 30 to, not only do the same but also approve of those
- 45:16who practice them. Mallory was doing a lady's day
- 45:22not too long ago. When in one of the things she
- 45:25was talking about homosexually came up and afterwards, an older
- 45:29lady sweet sweet old lady came up to her and she says I have
- 45:32something you did a great job. I really appreciate you coming
- 45:34up here, but I have something against what you said.
- 45:38I'm always thinking. Okay.
- 45:38Well, did I say something wrong? What happened?
- 45:41And she says, I disagree with what, with what you said about
- 45:44homosexuality. And now he's like, what do you
- 45:51mean? And she's like, well my son.
- 45:55Is homosexual and he says that he just can't help it.
- 45:59That's the way God made him. And so when you said that God
- 46:03says it's wrong that it's a sin while I disagree with you
- 46:05because my son is and and that's the way he is.
- 46:11Don't tell me that this issue is not in the church, guys.
- 46:16It is. And sometimes we avoid it.
- 46:22Or we approve it. This person was saying, well,
- 46:27because my son says it, then it's fine.
- 46:33She is approving of his sin. Which in verse 32 is liking as
- 46:39if she was also in joining in with that.
- 46:44And I don't think we always understand that when it is
- 46:47saying. They're deserving of death, who
- 46:50those that are practicing it, but not only those do the same
- 46:53but also approve of those who practice them.
- 46:56Remember the statistics at the beginning where it talked about
- 47:0075 of them approved up and said they should be able to be
- 47:04married. Some of those are the ones that
- 47:07thought is morally wrong. Guys, we can't let our emotions.
- 47:12We can't let those feelings as far as if this is within our
- 47:15family affect the way that God word is what it says.
- 47:22And we have to realize, there's no proof anywhere.
- 47:26They've done the study genetics. They've done all this testing,
- 47:29as far as if it is a genetic code or a gene where you can't
- 47:32help it. No, it is a choice.
- 47:34It is a lifestyle that you must choose in.
- 47:37Like we already talked about in James chapter 1.
- 47:39It is something that you are drawn away by that lust or that
- 47:42desire. And you fall into that sin.
- 47:50Because if we truly want to be loving, Let me back up.
- 47:56Here's my other question for you, when we were proving of
- 47:59those sins, you know, it also includes all those things that
- 48:01are unrighteous. Do we approve those that are in
- 48:06adultery? So happy for you, and I'm so
- 48:11thankful that you finally found someone when God says it's a
- 48:14sin. Now, I'm now I'm hitting a
- 48:17little closer, aren't I. We understand that with
- 48:20homosexuality, but, you know that also includes other sins.
- 48:26You see Saul when he was holding the cloaks as they were stoning.
- 48:30Stephen probably didn't say much at all, but he was approving of
- 48:34it. Without saying a word.
- 48:40You know, sometimes there's going to be a time and place
- 48:42where it's not, it will not be very good for us to say
- 48:44something at that time, at that time.
- 48:47That does not mean that you're approving of it.
- 48:48Okay? There's wisdom in that as well.
- 48:53But to prove a what someone is doing and saying, it's okay,
- 48:55it's fine. Yeah, I think they should be
- 48:57able to get married. That is what is being condemned
- 49:00here in verse 32. We do not need to be ashamed as
- 49:04Paul was saying of the gospel of Christ and because he's not
- 49:06ashamed of the gospel of Christ. He's going to tell them that
- 49:08what they're doing is wrong. There's a right.
- 49:11And there's a wrong and it goes all the way back to Creation.
- 49:13The way God had created it. Please understand.
- 49:26We need to be loving toward these individuals.
- 49:30We don't need to shun them because they're in sin.
- 49:33Just like someone else. That might be a liar.
- 49:36Someone else that might be an adultery, someone else that is
- 49:39deceitful there in sin and they need God's word.
- 49:44And gods commanded us to be able to teach.
- 49:49And to tell them the truth. Of what true love is.
- 49:55And true love is not avoiding it or ignoring it.
- 49:59It's teaching them. As Paul was saying, don't be
- 50:02ashamed of the gospel because it's only the gospel that's
- 50:05going to be able to change that person and have their soul,
- 50:08right. Our invitation.
- 50:19You know, it's really hard when you talk about these subjects to
- 50:22have an invitation because people are probably thinking.
- 50:25Well, if I go forward, they're going to think about these
- 50:28things that we just talked about.
- 50:30I don't want you to be deterred of Coming forward and making
- 50:36your life, right? With Christ.
- 50:38Because it just the topic because if you are in sin and
- 50:41you have not put on Christ and baptism, then you are in sin.
- 50:48And with the repentance of what you are doing or what you have
- 50:52done and the having it washed away in baptism.
- 50:57And living Faithfully for God. That's more important.
- 51:03Don't let just what we've discussed think.
- 51:05That's what people are going to think.
- 51:07That's not it. Don't let something like that.
- 51:09Hinder you from making your life with God.
- 51:13Or maybe you are a became a Christian.
- 51:15And yet you've let the things of the society.
- 51:18You've let the things of this world.
- 51:19Kind of hinder you from being what you need to be hindering
- 51:22you from being what? God desires you to be.
- 51:24And that is pure in his eyes. You can also make that, right?
- 51:26If it's in a public, if you have done sin publicly.
- 51:31Please, please, please don't leave here knowing that you're
- 51:34still left in your sin. Because we never know when God
- 51:38will come. We never know when he will call
- 51:41us home and what a day that's going to be.
- 51:45For those that are right in his eyes.
- 51:49So if you have any need at this time, won't you, please come
- 51:51home?
