- 0:22Speaker 3: Edition where where we're well more month and we'll be
- 0:25Speaker 3: halfway through the year.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Actually insane.
- 0:30Speaker 3: What would you give twenty twenty six is rating so far?
- 0:35Speaker 2: Hmmm? Personally I would give it maybe like a seven.
- 0:44Speaker 2: It's been pretty good. For the world at large, maybe
- 0:48Speaker 2: like a three. Yeah, I think we've got room for improvement.
- 0:52Speaker 2: What do you think?
- 0:52Speaker 3: I think I'm pretty on part Yeah, I think you know,
- 0:57Speaker 3: last year, at this point in time, I've just got
- 0:59Speaker 3: another Cats, So we're going to take a point off
- 1:01Speaker 3: the day. Yeah, nothing like super wild, crazy exciting has
- 1:06Speaker 3: happened yet.
- 1:06Speaker 2: What about Shannon knowle it yourself?
- 1:08Speaker 3: Oh yeah, okay, no, like ten out of ten, there
- 1:11Speaker 3: we go. Yeah, no, that's it.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Yeah you just needed a little reminder.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Yeah exactly.
- 1:15Speaker 2: That was really good.
- 1:15Speaker 3: But yeah, I feel like iconic.
- 1:16Speaker 2: It's just gone so quick.
- 1:17Speaker 3: It's gone so quick.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it's wild. But as we like to do. In
- 1:22Speaker 2: these episodes, we're going to be sharing all of our faves,
- 1:25Speaker 2: our rex, what we've been watching, reading, shopping, enjoying this month.
- 1:29Speaker 2: So would you like to kick us off? What's your
- 1:31Speaker 2: first monthly fave?
- 1:32Speaker 3: Okay, my first monthly fave is a post I saw
- 1:36Speaker 3: on Instagram, and it is is there a best time
- 1:39Speaker 3: for everything? Here's what science says. Oh my god, so
- 1:44Speaker 3: the captain says, timing isn't everything. Everything is timing and
- 1:47Speaker 3: it's basically pulled in all of the best times to
- 1:51Speaker 3: like do certain tasks or make certain appointments.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Oh my god, I'm mad.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Are you locked in?
- 1:57Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:57Speaker 2: Okay?
- 1:58Speaker 3: Number one doctors appointments. Research shows at three pm is
- 2:03Speaker 3: the Bermuda triangle of healthcare. So anesthesia eras are four
- 2:08Speaker 3: times more likely, doctors spot fewer cancers. Hand washing in
- 2:12Speaker 3: vaccines rates drop sharply, so morning equals maximum alertness, afternoon
- 2:18Speaker 3: avoid anything serious. Okay, it's not meant to scare you,
- 2:21Speaker 3: but what the hell like the three pm slump also
- 2:26Speaker 3: hits the healthcare.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Yeah, so true. And I always try and go for
- 2:29Speaker 2: the earliest appointment because then you don't get more Typically,
- 2:32Speaker 2: you don't get the Domino off fat from when people
- 2:34Speaker 2: are late and run the doctor's late.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, coffee. Don't drink coffee right after you wake up.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Wait sixty to ninety minutes. Your body's natural alertness hormone
- 2:45Speaker 3: cortisole is already high. Caffeine too early actually makes you
- 2:50Speaker 3: more tired later. Shit, the shower. I don't know why
- 2:57Speaker 3: I said it like that.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Because it's the best part of the day.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Okay, thank you. So the best time to shower depends
- 3:02Speaker 3: on what you want. At night equals sleeping better. Warm
- 3:06Speaker 3: water cools your body and signals rest. In the morning,
- 3:09Speaker 3: it boosts focused. A cooler shower wakes your nervous system up,
- 3:13Speaker 3: So either works fine, but being consistent allows your body
- 3:17Speaker 3: to love the routine. Are you a morning or an
- 3:19Speaker 3: evening shower?
- 3:21Speaker 2: Evening?
- 3:25Speaker 3: Oh? Yeah, because you're not good in the mornings.
- 3:27Speaker 2: But also like, well, I would do both if I
- 3:30Speaker 2: had the time, but you can't wear them. I can't
- 3:32Speaker 2: wake because you're sleepy girl, because I'm sleepy, But I
- 3:36Speaker 2: could not get into bed without showering like I could not,
- 3:39Speaker 2: and I wouldn't.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Are you and no outside clothes in the bed?
- 3:43Speaker 4: Not?
- 3:44Speaker 2: Really, it's not that serious to me personally.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Yeah, which is probably shocking, but robs are no outside
- 3:50Speaker 3: clothes in the bed, but our cats are allowed in
- 3:52Speaker 3: the bed. Do you know who else has been to
- 3:54Speaker 3: have peep and pipper paws from their litter box? So
- 3:57Speaker 3: I'm like, how the fuck does that make sense? Like
- 3:59Speaker 3: if I go in the bed, goes those close you
- 4:01Speaker 3: water will yes, got but the fucking cat with Peepy
- 4:05Speaker 3: and pipper paws can go on the bed. Yeah, that
- 4:08Speaker 3: makes that makes sense?
- 4:09Speaker 2: But also do you know what else has been outside
- 4:12Speaker 2: into work me? Like, I'm not peeling my skin off
- 4:15Speaker 2: and jumping in just as a skeleton being like, ah.
- 4:19Speaker 3: I would love would have been I'm just gonna throw' say,
- 4:22Speaker 3: like that would be really nice.
- 4:23Speaker 2: That's what we need.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Yeah, technology, I feel like we need something like boo ai,
- 4:29Speaker 3: let me take my skin off. Yeah, I feel like
- 4:31Speaker 3: we could have done something cooler.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Rockout as a skeleton in bed for.
- 4:34Speaker 3: At Seriously you know that like cartoon that like Halloween cane, Yes,
- 4:38Speaker 3: skeletons dancing vibe. Yeah, Okay. Exercise the morning equals more
- 4:43Speaker 3: discipline and fat burning. You burn up to twenty percent
- 4:46Speaker 3: more and stay consistent. However, the afternoon equals performance and enjoyment.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Your muscles are warmer, lungs are stronger, and fewer injuries.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Yeah, makes sense.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Naps. The best time to take a nap is apparently
- 5:01Speaker 3: between two to three pm. And keep it short.
- 5:05Speaker 2: How short are we talking?
- 5:06Speaker 3: Ten to twenty minutes equals a focus boost, thirty plus
- 5:11Speaker 3: minutes equals a groggy brain. So if you want a
- 5:16Speaker 3: pro tip, according to this post, try and nappuccino.
- 5:22Speaker 2: I love that napcino.
- 5:26Speaker 3: So drinking is kind of drinking a coffee is the
- 5:29Speaker 3: twenty minute nap and you wake up as if you've
- 5:32Speaker 3: had a caffeine kick, but without the without the slope.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I like that.
- 5:38Speaker 3: So new beginnings. If you want to start something new,
- 5:41Speaker 3: start on a fresh date. Psychologists call it the fresh
- 5:44Speaker 3: start effect. Days that feel like new chapters, I e.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Newsday's birthdays, mondays. Your brain loves clean slates, use them.
- 5:51Speaker 3: And yeah that was the last one. I like that, right,
- 5:56Speaker 3: very good, so efficient. I love a little cheat cheat.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Yeah it fixed my life.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Yeah, honestly, I don't know how with the nap one.
- 6:05Speaker 3: One time I had a ten minute nap at the
- 6:08Speaker 3: airport and I can't remember where we were or where
- 6:11Speaker 3: we were going. But I woke up and it was
- 6:13Speaker 3: like thirty minutes to boarding. We should have been boarding.
- 6:16Speaker 3: I think we're in We're in Europe. Yeah, And I
- 6:19Speaker 3: woke up and I looked at the screen. I was like,
- 6:21Speaker 3: Sally's screen changed and you were like what. And then
- 6:23Speaker 3: we had to run through the airport to get.
- 6:26Speaker 2: To the course because it was Europe.
- 6:28Speaker 3: We ended up sitting there and waiting for like another
- 6:30Speaker 3: twenty five so we ended up sprinting through and then
- 6:33Speaker 3: they weren't even bored, and I was like, oh my god.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and then we got on like a non air
- 6:37Speaker 2: conditioned plane with like a warm coke. It was just
- 6:40Speaker 2: not optimal.
- 6:42Speaker 3: That just that just gave me the ship.
- 6:43Speaker 2: I feel like I didn't have a shower.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Now.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Yeah, you're in your outside clothes inside your body.
- 6:49Speaker 2: I want to be a skeleton in bed.
- 6:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Okay, okay, what's your monthly favorite?
- 6:53Speaker 2: My monthly favorite is something that I've been watching binging,
- 6:57Speaker 2: I dare say, and it is is.
- 7:00Speaker 3: It like a twenty two episode show.
- 7:04Speaker 2: There have been a lot of episodes, but not not
- 7:06Speaker 2: like that I'm gonna watch your show, not all kind
- 7:08Speaker 2: of Oh you can have a clue. It's a reality
- 7:12Speaker 2: TV show.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Oh is it Real Housewives?
- 7:15Speaker 2: No, but I want to watch that. I think I'm
- 7:17Speaker 2: gonna save that for our trip. I feel like that's
- 7:20Speaker 2: a good plane show. Don't reckon. Okay, it's something should
- 7:24Speaker 2: guess that I would watch or enjoy.
- 7:26Speaker 3: I don't think is it a dating show.
- 7:29Speaker 2: It's a competition show. Okay, Survivor Survivors Survivor season fifty.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Are you serious? Yes, it's on stan and it is
- 7:41Speaker 3: so fucking good.
- 7:44Speaker 2: You need to watch it.
- 7:45Speaker 3: I'm sorry. I'm just still like really tough with the
- 7:47Speaker 3: fact that I guess that.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Yeah, oh my god, I would love it, would I? Yes, Okay,
- 7:54Speaker 2: it's so good because I feel like that's kind of
- 7:57Speaker 2: your vibe. I can actually see you thriving in a
- 7:59Speaker 2: Survivor city.
- 8:00Speaker 3: I don't know, I'm not very good when I'm hungry.
- 8:03Speaker 2: To actually go home after the family. Yeah, but if
- 8:06Speaker 2: they were well fed, if you wont every challenge and
- 8:08Speaker 2: you got the rewards, you know, how like.
- 8:10Speaker 3: They what's the reward?
- 8:11Speaker 2: So they're all different like every week, and not.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Do the mind games of it. That's where you thrive
- 8:19Speaker 3: social Like, I would feel like really sad if I
- 8:22Speaker 3: got voted out.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Well, I watched one last night and like was almost
- 8:26Speaker 2: crying because I don't want to give it anything away
- 8:30Speaker 2: of who it was and whatever, because I was like shocked.
- 8:32Speaker 2: I thought this person was going to win. But they
- 8:36Speaker 2: were so devastated and they literally just were like, oh
- 8:40Speaker 2: my fucking god, guys, like that was their response, Like
- 8:43Speaker 2: they were so betrayed because they.
- 8:46Speaker 3: All kind of it's a bit like mafia, right, like
- 8:48Speaker 3: you all kind of team up and have secret allies.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Have you watched The Vivor before? Oh my god, So
- 8:55Speaker 2: I watched The Vivor when it first came out in
- 8:58Speaker 2: the two thousands, like probably like season one or two
- 9:00Speaker 2: when it first was on TV when I was a
- 9:01Speaker 2: little kid, and like loved it then but probably didn't
- 9:04Speaker 2: really understand it that much. But me and my sister
- 9:07Speaker 2: and our neighbors used to play Survivor as well, and
- 9:09Speaker 2: we would like pretend to vote each other half like
- 9:11Speaker 2: it was a whole thing. Loved it, but then just
- 9:13Speaker 2: like fell off because there's been so many seasons and whatnot.
- 9:16Speaker 2: But yeah, essentially, if you haven't seen Survivor, this is
- 9:20Speaker 2: the fiftieth season. It's been running for like twenty years,
- 9:24Speaker 2: and this particular season is almost like an All Stars,
- 9:27Speaker 2: So they've brought back all of these previous contestants who
- 9:30Speaker 2: haven't won, so they really have something to prove, and
- 9:33Speaker 2: then put them all together. And that's interesting as well
- 9:36Speaker 2: because obviously then they're all privy to their game and
- 9:39Speaker 2: their strategies and their strengths.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Like before they've gone on. I wonder if they even
- 9:43Speaker 3: knew who it was and they watched their season. Yeah, well,
- 9:46Speaker 3: what would be your strength? It would be your survivor's strength.
- 9:50Speaker 2: I think I would be good at like the social
- 9:52Speaker 2: game in terms of not because obviously there's the part
- 9:57Speaker 2: of like you either can be really good at like
- 9:59Speaker 2: manipulating people, but also if you're good at.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Like keeping people on your side and kind of going
- 10:05Speaker 3: under the radar, you'd be like an under the radar
- 10:07Speaker 3: BG that keeps.
- 10:08Speaker 2: You until the end. And then you build that trial.
- 10:10Speaker 3: With people that yeah, fucking yapping the whole time.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Yeah it's so well, And then that happens like some
- 10:17Speaker 2: people as well.
- 10:19Speaker 3: They get cocky and then they tell their strategy.
- 10:21Speaker 2: To someone and then that person's like me, okay.
- 10:25Speaker 3: And then they run and tell everyone it's fucking crazy.
- 10:28Speaker 3: So yeah, I'm like a disgusting oversharer. Like I don't
- 10:32Speaker 3: know why you think it'd be good when the like trials,
- 10:38Speaker 3: but they're like hanging from a tree. No, no, like
- 10:43Speaker 3: I get puffed up walking up like two flights of stairs,
- 10:46Speaker 3: you know, like, no.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Way, I would not survive.
- 10:49Speaker 3: And then like I have to not overshare. How am
- 10:52Speaker 3: I supposed to bond with anyone? That's crazy? Yeah, and
- 10:56Speaker 3: there's just and then I have to sleep on a leaf. Yeah,
- 10:58Speaker 3: let's start there. And and then I don't get food.
- 11:01Speaker 2: And do you know what I realized as well is
- 11:03Speaker 2: that because one of them, they did like an auction,
- 11:06Speaker 2: so they all got given money and then they would
- 11:08Speaker 2: bring stuff up and it would be like a cheeseburger
- 11:11Speaker 2: and chips, and like keep in mind, and all they
- 11:15Speaker 2: fucking eat is coconut.
- 11:17Speaker 3: That is it.
- 11:19Speaker 2: I don't really like coconut. I like it on like
- 11:21Speaker 2: a Lamington, but like otherwise on its own all like
- 11:25Speaker 2: coconut water, not a fan where all they eat is
- 11:28Speaker 2: fucking coconut and they're in Fiji, really dangerous.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Did you know that more people die from a coconut
- 11:35Speaker 3: than a shark?
- 11:35Speaker 2: Yeah, if you get bunked on the head with a coconut.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Yeah, it's over Red Rover.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Yeah. But yeah, so they just eat coconut. That's it.
- 11:44Speaker 2: They're doing all of these like strenuous challenges. They're in Fiji,
- 11:48Speaker 2: fighting the elements, sleeping on like literally the ground. Because
- 11:52Speaker 2: the thing is obviously these people they need like alliances,
- 11:55Speaker 2: people who they know are going to vote for them.
- 11:57Speaker 2: But then also as the season goes on, the last
- 12:01Speaker 2: I think it's like maybe eight to ten people or
- 12:04Speaker 2: something end up on the jury and they decide who
- 12:07Speaker 2: wins at the end. So the people that you like
- 12:11Speaker 2: really stab anyone in the back because then you'd.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it's so fucking fascinating.
- 12:18Speaker 2: I think you would really enjoy it. And because this
- 12:21Speaker 2: is like an all stars kind of season, all of
- 12:24Speaker 2: the people on.
- 12:25Speaker 3: It are really really good players.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Like there's one guy is.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Really really hot, so that's why you watching it.
- 12:33Speaker 2: He's pissing me off at the moment, okay, still lovers. Yeah, yeah,
- 12:38Speaker 2: but yeah, it's really good. The premiere averaged five point
- 12:42Speaker 2: six million viewers over its three hour premiere episode, and
- 12:48Speaker 2: I think like there have been some critiques on it
- 12:51Speaker 2: because there's been a few like celeb cameos and stuff
- 12:53Speaker 2: that feel a little bit random.
- 12:54Speaker 3: But was it Mike White, the guy who does White
- 12:57Speaker 3: Lotus on you?
- 12:59Speaker 2: I've got to mention that. And Mike White from Yeah,
- 13:01Speaker 2: White Lotus or School of Rock was one of the
- 13:05Speaker 2: goodness Yeah was he?
- 13:08Speaker 3: Yeah he was famous before he went on Survivor, right yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Think like he was on well he was on School
- 13:14Speaker 2: of Rock and then he was on Survivor and then yeah,
- 13:16Speaker 2: did White Lotus. But yeah, he is a very interesting character.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 13:22Speaker 2: But yeah, fuck, it's really really good. So today actually
- 13:26Speaker 2: the finale comes out, so I don't know how it ends.
- 13:30Speaker 2: So maybe this was a bit of an early favorite
- 13:31Speaker 2: because I technically haven't finished the whole show. But it's
- 13:34Speaker 2: really good. Yeah, I love it. I can't wait.
- 13:37Speaker 3: I love this for you. Never picked that?
- 13:39Speaker 4: So random?
- 13:58Speaker 2: What's your next one?
- 13:59Speaker 3: Okay? My next one is.
- 14:03Speaker 5: Literally a ten out of ten and I'm so happy
- 14:08Speaker 5: I discovered it. So my skin at the moment has
- 14:11Speaker 5: been on the frits, like my EXMA has been flaring.
- 14:16Speaker 3: I had to get steroid cream for my nipples. It's
- 14:19Speaker 3: been a dur knee like very dry. That probably the
- 14:22Speaker 3: worst XMA like winter ExM I've ever had in a
- 14:27Speaker 3: really long time. And as a result, when you have
- 14:31Speaker 3: dry patches or you have dry skin, fake channing just
- 14:34Speaker 3: becomes a fucking nightmare. Regardless of whether or not you
- 14:36Speaker 3: have XMA. When you have dry skin, fake tanning is
- 14:39Speaker 3: like on me, not on anyone else, but it just
- 14:43Speaker 3: doesn't end up working well. So I end up not
- 14:46Speaker 3: really being able to use any of the foams or
- 14:48Speaker 3: anything like that because it's just it just doesn't work
- 14:51Speaker 3: on my skin. However, I have just discovered a self
- 14:58Speaker 3: tanning milk. So you know how we've been seeing the
- 15:02Speaker 3: rise of like the road glazing milk, We've been seeing
- 15:05Speaker 3: body milks. Bali Body has dropped a self tanning milk
- 15:10Speaker 3: for your body, and they've also just launched one for
- 15:12Speaker 3: your face. And as soon as I saw this, I
- 15:15Speaker 3: was locked the fuck in. I was like, that is
- 15:18Speaker 3: exactly what I need. I need a hydrating fake tan
- 15:21Speaker 3: and I have found one. It's also super affordable. So
- 15:26Speaker 3: the tanning milk is essentially like a moisturizer. It's like
- 15:30Speaker 3: a milk. And yes, you can get gradual milk gradual
- 15:35Speaker 3: tan moisturizers, but I want that shit from the get go,
- 15:39Speaker 3: I don't want to have to wait five days, right,
- 15:41Speaker 3: So you basically apply it like you would any tan.
- 15:45Speaker 3: It is clear, so like you do have to kind
- 15:47Speaker 3: of know where you've put it, but your skin's like wet,
- 15:50Speaker 3: so you can see right. And it has like hyaluronic
- 15:54Speaker 3: acid in it, it has seramides, it has all the
- 15:57Speaker 3: goodness that also actually helps your skin. But because it's hydrating,
- 16:01Speaker 3: it doesn't stick to any of my dry patches, which
- 16:04Speaker 3: is amazing. And in like four to six hours tan Wow,
- 16:08Speaker 3: bronze got as so good. You also don't have to
- 16:11Speaker 3: wash it off because it just soaks into your skin.
- 16:13Speaker 3: And they've just launched one for your face as well.
- 16:16Speaker 3: I haven't tried the face one yet, but I've tried
- 16:18Speaker 3: the body one and ten out of ten at the moment,
- 16:21Speaker 3: it's at chemist ware House for eighteen dollars the retail
- 16:24Speaker 3: price of it, the RP is twenty five bucks, okay,
- 16:28Speaker 3: but and then I think the face tanning milk at
- 16:31Speaker 3: the moment is fifteen dollars at Chemist Warehouse and so good.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Like the before and afters that they have on their site,
- 16:41Speaker 3: you can just have a look at them. They're so good. Literally,
- 16:44Speaker 3: my new go to tan.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I'm excited, yes to try the the face tan because
- 16:51Speaker 2: when I have tried them in the past, I always
- 16:53Speaker 2: mix them with a moisturizer or something anyway, because they
- 16:56Speaker 2: do kind of feel I find sometimes the drops can
- 16:59Speaker 2: feel a bit dry on the skin. I don't know,
- 17:01Speaker 2: I feel like my face feels a bit tight.
- 17:03Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I think like mixing it and making it
- 17:07Speaker 3: a skin care product as well as a tanning product
- 17:10Speaker 3: just kind of solves that problem. I do also really
- 17:12Speaker 3: like the Ecotan face water. Yeah, and I just decant
- 17:16Speaker 3: that into like a little sprits bottle, which and I
- 17:19Speaker 3: just use that, especially if I'm on holidays and I
- 17:22Speaker 3: just want to be like, yeah, yeah, it's so good
- 17:27Speaker 3: and let me see if I can see any.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Of the reviews. Oh.
- 17:29Speaker 3: It also has vitamin C in it, which brightens your
- 17:32Speaker 3: skin and helps to fade imperfections, seramides to support your
- 17:36Speaker 3: skin barrier and soothes irritated skin, and then also a
- 17:40Speaker 3: hyaluronic acid to hydrate your skin. Which I'm like all
- 17:44Speaker 3: of the above, please thank you. It is a little
- 17:47Speaker 3: bit like because it's a milk, it does need a
- 17:50Speaker 3: little bit of time to dry, Like yeah, not insanely long,
- 17:54Speaker 3: like not longer than like fifteen minutes, but I personally
- 17:57Speaker 3: don't put it on and then immediately put clothes on.
- 17:59Speaker 3: It kind of like ground a little bit. Yeah, and
- 18:01Speaker 3: have you wrote it on Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah, but
- 18:05Speaker 3: yeah I love it, so do it.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm kin to try.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Okay.
- 18:11Speaker 2: My next May favorite is a read and it's the
- 18:15Speaker 2: book Mad Mabel. Have you seen this?
- 18:18Speaker 3: I've heard of it.
- 18:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:19Speaker 3: It's by Sally Hatworth.
- 18:21Speaker 2: So she's an Australian author and she wrote The Good
- 18:24Speaker 2: Sister and Darling Girls. They're both like pretty popular releases
- 18:27Speaker 2: that have come out over the last couple of years.
- 18:30Speaker 2: But yeah, she's like a New York Times bestseller. So
- 18:33Speaker 2: I kind of I got gifted this book actually, but
- 18:37Speaker 2: you know, I had read some of our other books
- 18:38Speaker 2: and I was like, this is probably going to be
- 18:39Speaker 2: pretty good, and I was right. It's got four point
- 18:42Speaker 2: four out of five on good Reads and it's really
- 18:47Speaker 2: really interesting. It's like kind of a bit of a thriller,
- 18:51Speaker 2: twists and turns, but it's about.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Like friendship, family and murder. So I have been in mud.
- 19:00Speaker 2: I won't give too much away because obviously I don't
- 19:02Speaker 2: want to spoil it for anybody who wants to read it.
- 19:04Speaker 2: But it's about this this lady who's like eighty one
- 19:08Speaker 2: years old. Her name's Mabel, and she lives on like
- 19:12Speaker 2: a kind of like a bustling street in Melbourne, and
- 19:15Speaker 2: she's lived there for years and years, and she has
- 19:18Speaker 2: all of these different neighbors, including like you know, the
- 19:20Speaker 2: cranky old lady who like peers over a fence and
- 19:22Speaker 2: once again everybody's business. Yeah, and then like the young
- 19:26Speaker 2: single mum who's like also living her best life dating
- 19:29Speaker 2: lots of hot man but then has like a young
- 19:32Speaker 2: daughter who's kind of like left to her own devices
- 19:35Speaker 2: and comes over and like annoys the old lady and
- 19:36Speaker 2: it's like, let's hang out. And then she's kind of
- 19:40Speaker 2: like a fabulous, cranky old lady who just wants to
- 19:43Speaker 2: be left alone. But then somehow it always ends up
- 19:46Speaker 2: in like everybody's business. But in the first couple of
- 19:51Speaker 2: chapters there's like, well, there's a murder next door, or
- 19:54Speaker 2: there's a death next door that has kind of suspicious yeah,
- 20:00Speaker 2: and who does it's in the first two chapters it's
- 20:04Speaker 2: one of her neighbors. So it's the she finds out
- 20:06Speaker 2: because the little girl comes over and she's like, let's play,
- 20:09Speaker 2: let's do blah blah, and she's like, ah, go like
- 20:11Speaker 2: babbah old mate next door.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Oh, So she goes next door and there.
- 20:15Speaker 2: And then she's like, well I tried to and like
- 20:17Speaker 2: he hasn't answered the door, and then so she goes
- 20:19Speaker 2: over and then she can see that he's like dead
- 20:22Speaker 2: on the floor. But it jumps in between times of
- 20:27Speaker 2: like current day and then when she was growing up,
- 20:30Speaker 2: and you get the sense very early on that she
- 20:34Speaker 2: was involved in something a little bit sinister in her past,
- 20:38Speaker 2: but it may have been a case of revenge for
- 20:41Speaker 2: one of her good friends. And it's so so good,
- 20:46Speaker 2: like it's it's really dry and funny because she is
- 20:49Speaker 2: like this cranky old lady who just like gives no shit,
- 20:51Speaker 2: like she's just like fucking hell.
- 20:54Speaker 3: But it's really really really fun writing.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, but yeah like twists and her and then
- 21:00Speaker 2: like yeah, some deeper sad elements like yeah, it's really
- 21:05Speaker 2: really good. I really recommend it.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Have you finished it?
- 21:08Speaker 2: I'm up to like I think the last three chapters
- 21:10Speaker 2: you know who did it? Thing? No? No, so yeah,
- 21:14Speaker 2: I'm very Oh.
- 21:15Speaker 3: They're really going to because I ask a vill who
- 21:17Speaker 3: did it? Yeah, oh no, but.
- 21:20Speaker 2: It's really good. And then I had another recommendation, but
- 21:22Speaker 2: it's kind of I'm kind of cheating because I haven't
- 21:24Speaker 2: watched it yet. But do you remember the book Remarkably
- 21:26Speaker 2: Bright Creatures.
- 21:27Speaker 3: I haven't watched it yet because I was going to
- 21:30Speaker 3: wait to see if you wanted to watch it together.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I haven't watched it either, but it's I'm scared.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I think, yeah, I'm scared.
- 21:37Speaker 2: I would be scared. Oh yeah, but yeah. So that
- 21:41Speaker 2: book has been adapted into a film that's just come
- 21:44Speaker 2: out on Netflix and it starts Sally Field, who amazing
- 21:49Speaker 2: from Missus Soutfire. I love her. But it has eighty
- 21:51Speaker 2: two percent on Rotten Tomatoes, so I think it's going
- 21:53Speaker 2: to be really good, but it's definitely a two jerk.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Have you also seen all the people talking about huge
- 22:00Speaker 3: When's new movie, The Sheep Detective.
- 22:02Speaker 2: I really want to see.
- 22:03Speaker 3: I really it as well. We should go.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Apparently like fucking steps on your heart.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Yeah, apparently it's like Knives Out meets Paddington, which I
- 22:12Speaker 3: don't know how you can mix those two together, but
- 22:15Speaker 3: I'm excited to be.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Her My two worlds combining.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Yeah, not a big fan of Paddington get it.
- 22:21Speaker 2: More of a Winny the Pool.
- 22:22Speaker 3: It kind of creeps me out a little bit in
- 22:24Speaker 3: the eyes.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Oh his little beady eyes. He's kind of cute. But yeah,
- 22:28Speaker 2: I definitely I'm poo.
- 22:31Speaker 3: I've never watched Paddington in my life though, so I
- 22:33Speaker 3: probably just defended the entire British nation. Apologies, Sorry about that,
- 22:38Speaker 3: Sorry about that.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I really want to see that. Also, really want
- 22:43Speaker 2: to watch the new Kylie documentary that just dropped on Netflix.
- 22:46Speaker 3: Apparently it's really good.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Apparently it's really really illuminating. So I'll be watching that
- 22:52Speaker 2: this weekend too.
- 22:54Speaker 3: Looked in.
- 23:12Speaker 2: What's your next one?
- 23:13Speaker 3: Okay, my next monthly favorite for May is the Best
- 23:18Speaker 3: and Less Basics. Holy shit, if you want to find
- 23:23Speaker 3: affordable basics that have good quality natural fibers, go to
- 23:29Speaker 3: Best and Less. So I was going to Denmark last
- 23:34Speaker 3: week and I just I really needed like some new basics.
- 23:38Speaker 3: I hadn't really bought any recently, and it was going
- 23:43Speaker 3: to be really cold, and I was like, I need
- 23:45Speaker 3: some long sleeve. I need natural fibers because I'm going
- 23:47Speaker 3: to be layering and if they're not natural fibers and
- 23:50Speaker 3: you end up getting sweaty pits stinky girl. Yeah, I
- 23:53Speaker 3: didn't want that would have been very embarrassing. All of
- 23:55Speaker 3: Copenhagen would have been like, ill, what's that now? And
- 23:57Speaker 3: I would have been like, yeah, it's the Australian ill
- 24:01Speaker 3: and I'd be like, sorry, guys, and everyone knows really
- 24:03Speaker 3: cool and I can't be stinky. We're cool people.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Yes, so true.
- 24:08Speaker 3: You know I can have half an eyebrow, but I
- 24:10Speaker 3: can't be stinky.
- 24:10Speaker 4: Yeah, that's why wine.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Anyway, Best and Less have all of these basics that
- 24:17Speaker 3: are like one hundred percent cotton for twelve dollars and
- 24:21Speaker 3: fourteen dollars. Like, they have these long sleeves that come
- 24:25Speaker 3: in a range of like really good basics colors. They
- 24:28Speaker 3: have black, white, cream, brown, whatever you fucking want. They've
- 24:31Speaker 3: got scoop neck v neck he neck. I feel like
- 24:34Speaker 3: I'm the guy at a racetrack that's like an I'm
- 24:38Speaker 3: coming around the band and we have a school neck.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Yeah, all like a guy on an ad selling rugs.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Literally hat it's worse than the wine.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Yeah, we've got the rug is like a crazy reference.
- 24:55Speaker 2: We've got school next V next reckon and it's all
- 24:59Speaker 2: gotta and I'm like, it's all had to go for
- 25:03Speaker 2: thirty years, Like how much stock do you guys have?
- 25:06Speaker 3: Okay, like lighting stores, yes, front immediately, Yeah, what's.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Going on there?
- 25:14Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 25:15Speaker 2: There's like no one's ever in that mattress stores, same thing, rugs,
- 25:20Speaker 2: It's all gonna go.
- 25:21Speaker 3: It's all gonna go, It's all gonna go. It's all
- 25:22Speaker 3: going to go. I would love to steal an ad
- 25:24Speaker 3: for that, just for shits and gigs. Oh but anyway,
- 25:34Speaker 3: I like, I absolutely rate best and Less. Yeah, and
- 25:37Speaker 3: I ended up buying like four things from there. And
- 25:43Speaker 3: in terms of like thickness for the price point, pretty
- 25:46Speaker 3: bloody good quality. Seems fits so well, so comfy, great
- 25:51Speaker 3: stretch to them. They're like a ribbed cotton long sleep
- 25:56Speaker 3: like basic as fuck does the job. But that's what
- 25:59Speaker 3: you want, That's what I want. And I've also washed
- 26:03Speaker 3: and Reworn and washed and Reworn and they have held
- 26:07Speaker 3: their shape so well that. Yes, of course, if you
- 26:11Speaker 3: want to spend and invest more in you know, smaller
- 26:15Speaker 3: brands or smaller brands basics or more expensive basics, absolutely
- 26:19Speaker 3: you can do that. But in Cozi Lives like to
- 26:22Speaker 3: be able to get such an affordable item I think
- 26:25Speaker 3: is really amazing.
- 26:27Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, and Best and Less also have good size range,
- 26:29Speaker 2: don't they.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Yeah, so they come in a size six to twenty six,
- 26:33Speaker 3: which is also amazing because a lot of the time
- 26:36Speaker 3: with you know, smaller brands or even just more expensive brands,
- 26:39Speaker 3: you don't get that size range, which is incredible and affordable.
- 26:44Speaker 3: So tick tick love that. Yeah.
- 26:47Speaker 2: I used to love Best and Less as a kid.
- 26:49Speaker 3: You know what good undies too? Yeah?
- 26:52Speaker 2: And really yeah, really good socks kids clothes too. Yeah,
- 26:55Speaker 2: Like if you're shopping fig got nieces and nephews.
- 26:58Speaker 3: And they also have like a bunch of cardigans jeans jumpers,
- 27:03Speaker 3: fucking rate it go. Yeah, not everything has like the
- 27:06Speaker 3: best fabriatione positions or just check like pending on what
- 27:10Speaker 3: you're buying. Like a couple of the cardigans were like
- 27:12Speaker 3: polyester and stuff. Not everything's one hundred percent natural fibers,
- 27:16Speaker 3: so do just make sure you check it before you
- 27:18Speaker 3: buy anything. But yeah, rd it.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Well, how's how I might be fucking allergic to Wait?
- 27:25Speaker 3: Did we investigate this any further? Yes, okay, I've been
- 27:30Speaker 3: so you're allergic to war?
- 27:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm pretty sure, Like, maybe I need to go
- 27:34Speaker 2: to a doctor and get one of those like allergy tests.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Maybe we can both do that. We can book it
- 27:38Speaker 2: together and get it done, cause you need to get
- 27:40Speaker 2: done too. But yeah, I've tried some other things. The
- 27:45Speaker 2: other day, I was wearing a jumper that was I
- 27:48Speaker 2: was fifteen percent.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Wall and you got sneezy again yeap, and my.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Eyes got all itchy. Yeah, I think I'm allergic to wall.
- 27:54Speaker 2: So I'm like, fuck, maybe I'm going to be have
- 27:56Speaker 2: to going for the Polleys, like I have no what
- 27:58Speaker 2: else am I to do? I would love to hear
- 28:01Speaker 2: some recommendations. Maybe I have to try Kashmir and see
- 28:04Speaker 2: if that. But also I'm like, I don't know, I'll
- 28:07Speaker 2: try the like the Target Cashmere that's a little bit more,
- 28:09Speaker 2: or the Kmart.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Cash Have you not tried the Uniclo Cashmi.
- 28:14Speaker 2: I don't think I've worn it for a full day
- 28:16Speaker 2: and a day? Yeah?
- 28:17Speaker 3: Yeah, Oh there you go.
- 28:19Speaker 2: I really rocked my world. Okay. My final May favorite
- 28:23Speaker 2: is Beauty Wreck and it's the clinic even better foundation.
- 28:27Speaker 2: Oh have you tried this before?
- 28:29Speaker 3: Not yet?
- 28:29Speaker 2: Yeah? So we got sent.
- 28:31Speaker 3: For a foundation though.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, and I used to be like a
- 28:36Speaker 2: ride or die. But I feel like I've been trying.
- 28:37Speaker 3: To mix it up now, like mixing art foundations.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and also like for different seasons of the year
- 28:43Speaker 2: or even just like why not just see what's out there.
- 28:45Speaker 2: But I'd never I warn Clinic Foundations before. Clinic was
- 28:49Speaker 2: actually the first foundation I ever wore.
- 28:51Speaker 3: They did my formal makeup.
- 28:53Speaker 2: They did my formal makeup too, Like I went into
- 28:56Speaker 2: Amyra and oh my god, so today, oh my god, god,
- 29:00Speaker 2: I love that. Like the week is not like somewhere
- 29:03Speaker 2: that you think so good. Yeah, I U still love
- 29:07Speaker 2: doing that.
- 29:08Speaker 3: Someone's like a point where they didn't want because I
- 29:11Speaker 3: like was so tyight B and I just like didn't
- 29:13Speaker 3: book and then everyone everyone was booked out the day
- 29:16Speaker 3: of formal and someone was like, well I booked two,
- 29:18Speaker 3: so you can have my clinique one. And so then
- 29:19Speaker 3: I went and got my makeup done a clinique.
- 29:21Speaker 2: How fab love that. Also loved getting my makeup done
- 29:24Speaker 2: at the mac counter and they would beat your face
- 29:26Speaker 2: the fuck down really really good. But anyway back to
- 29:29Speaker 2: the Foundation, So they did very generously gift us some
- 29:33Speaker 2: of their cult fake products, and one of them was
- 29:35Speaker 2: the even better foundation. I'd never tried this one before,
- 29:39Speaker 2: but I was like, why not. It's sixty three dollars,
- 29:42Speaker 2: so I would say a little bit more on the
- 29:44Speaker 2: expensive side. However, when I was looking it up this week,
- 29:47Speaker 2: it was on sale for over forty percent off on
- 29:49Speaker 2: a door, so it was like thirty six dollars and
- 29:52Speaker 2: sixty five cents. I was like, Oh my god. And
- 29:54Speaker 2: like Adoor Beauty does sales all the time, and it's
- 29:57Speaker 2: stocked in lots of different places, so you definite would
- 30:00Speaker 2: be able to get it on sale. But it has
- 30:02Speaker 2: like a lightweight, more medium coverage. I would say that
- 30:05Speaker 2: it is probably a little bit more Mate than some
- 30:07Speaker 2: of the other foundations that I've been wearing. But I
- 30:09Speaker 2: still feel like the finish looks quite natural and luminous,
- 30:12Speaker 2: like it doesn't look dry and flat like some Matte
- 30:15Speaker 2: foundations do. And today I went to the florists before work,
- 30:20Speaker 2: and my florists as soon as my florist because I
- 30:23Speaker 2: go to her all the time, love her. Shout out
- 30:27Speaker 2: Teresa's Flowers in Marrackville. If you want a beautiful bunch.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Not's fun. But as soon as I walked in, she
- 30:33Speaker 2: was like, oh my god, your foundation looks so good.
- 30:37Speaker 2: She was like, I don't know how to describe it,
- 30:39Speaker 2: but it looks like you're not wearing makeup, but you are.
- 30:42Speaker 2: And I was like that you've yeah, pah my day,
- 30:45Speaker 2: Like that is exactly what I want. So I do
- 30:49Speaker 2: think it's called the even Better Foundation, and I think
- 30:52Speaker 2: it lives up to that. Yeah, that name of it's
- 30:55Speaker 2: like your skin but better. Yeah, so I recommend.
- 30:59Speaker 5: How cool.
- 31:00Speaker 3: I can't wait to try it. How did you apply
- 31:02Speaker 3: it brush blender? I use the brush yeah.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and yeah really easy, like pretty easy to apply,
- 31:10Speaker 2: didn't didn't need March medium kind of coverage into it. Perfect. Well,
- 31:16Speaker 2: that's a wrap on another favorite episode.
- 31:18Speaker 3: I think there was a lot more in there than
- 31:19Speaker 3: we intended, but I know extra favorites.
- 31:23Speaker 2: We had new allergies on the scene.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Yeah, wow gin wag wow wow wow.
- 31:28Speaker 2: But as always, we love to hear from your chicks.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Let us know what you've been enjoying with your Rex
- 31:33Speaker 2: of May in the comments.
- 31:35Speaker 3: And the shoppies.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Yeah, honestly, when do we ever nu.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Brow growth serums that was in the other episode when
- 31:43Speaker 3: it comes out on Tuesday. You didn't include yourself and
- 31:46Speaker 3: rum fault.
- 31:47Speaker 2: Not on that note by Chicks Thanks.
- 32:00Speaker 5: That was bas
