We tend to value people based on usefulness or looks or what they

produce. God values based on the ultimate

cost He paid. That certainly puts things in a

people make for things they value.

I mean, go back to the American colonists, the Declaration of

Independence. They pledged their lives, their

fortunes, their sacred honor. And what was that for?

Temporal liberty. Freedom in this life, which is

valuable, yes, but it's temporary.

They were ready to give everything for it.

That's a powerful comparison. So how much more is eternal

liberty worth? Freedom from sin's grip, from

death's finality, from Satan's rule.

We chase after so many things that just don't last, don't we?

Maybe it gets millions of views for a week.

An athletic achievement brings glory for a moment.

Business success? Maybe lots of wealth.

Political changes affect things for a season, but contrast any

of that with the eternal reality of a soul being born again,

seeing the gospel's light for the first time, delivered from

being separated from God forever.

Son, and we've seen his joyful heart in pursuing the lost.

Now let's shift gears a bit. What is actually proclaimed by

In Luke 24 verses 44 to 47, after the resurrection, Jesus

gives his disciples very clear instructions which says

everything written by him in the law, the prophets, the Psalms

had to be fulfilled. Then he opened their minds to

understand the Scriptures and said it says that the Christ

should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that

repentance for the forgiveness of sin should be proclaimed in

His name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

That passage is incredibly rich, isn't it?

And it lays out two essential, non negotiable parts of the

message someone sent by Christ proclaims.

First, it's about the historical facts concerning Jesus Christ,

His incarnation, the eternal Son of God, becoming fully human,

taking on flesh, born of a virgin, just like the prophecy

said. He didn't just appear human, He

became one of us. Then His sinless life.

He lived among us perfectly, obeyed God's law in every single

The second part is the application of those facts.

People need to believe in Jesus, and this isn't just, you know,

mentally agreeing he existed. It's a trusting, relying faith.

And that faith produces repentance, a genuine turning

That whole message, it's all rooted in Scripture, promised

That's the core message, but I think it's just as critical to

understand what the message isn't about and what actually

motivates the messenger. Yeah, because I get stressed it

easily, doesn't it? We might think someone going

into missions has to be some kind of super St., that their

life is the main attraction or their personal discipline is the

key. That's a really vital

distinction to make. The source material is crystal

clear. The message is Christ's perfect

life, Christ's sin, atoning death, Christ's grave,

conquering resurrection, Christ's prayer life.

And it says explicitly it is not you and it isn't me.

So the missionary isn't exporting themselves, not their

the love of Christ to him. Christ didn't ditch Peter in his

similar, right? It is the love of Christ that is

When believers truly grasp, truly experience Christ's

undeserved kindness, His finished work for them, His

grace, it naturally causes them to love God back and act on that

what you freely receive, not some desperate attempt to

measure up or earn something. And knowing this really helps

settle your own position before God, doesn't it?

I mean, think about Jesus's prayer for us the night he was

Father, I desire that they know that the world knows that you

But this message isn't meant to be kept quiet.

It's meant to be proclaimed. And the question of where it's

proclaimed is really central to understanding the strategy of

global missions. Luke 24.47 says repentance and

forgiveness should be proclaimed in His name to all nations.

Matthew 28.19 commands disciples to go therefore and make

disciples of all the nations. And in the original Greek both

to go. It really is fascinating how we

It can mean a few things. They can mean gentiles broadly

or specific ethnic groups or even your geopolitical countries

like America or Germany today. But some of those

interpretations run into trouble, like if ethne just

meant gentiles. Luke 24.47 saying to all nations

beginning from Jerusalem is a bit awkward since the gospel

went to Jews first there. So what's the primary
