- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, we have this. So the New York Times,
- 0:02Speaker 1: they've done a really good job with this. The top
- 0:06Speaker 1: TV shows, 100 television shows of the....
- 0:11Speaker 2: Since 2000.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Yeah, since 2000. Oh. And so like 26 years of television.
- 0:19Speaker 1: And they've sent out over 500 surveys to actors, TV, showrunners, writers,
- 0:26Speaker 1: all of that. And got their responses, and so they've
- 0:29Speaker 1: put together the top 100. We left off yesterday at 81.
- 0:33Speaker 1: The Queen's Gambit was number 81. Okay. So number 80,
- 0:36Speaker 1: I loved this show. And if you've never watched it,
- 0:40Speaker 1: I think there are three seasons. How To with John Wilson.
- 0:46Speaker 1: It is absolutely incredible. He is a documentarian, and I
- 0:51Speaker 1: think they're just a half an hour long.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 0:54Speaker 1: But he does it in such an unusual way. It's
- 0:57Speaker 1: on HBO Max, and the seasons are still available. How
- 1:02Speaker 1: To with John Wilson is number 80. Number 79, The
- 1:05Speaker 1: Good Wife. I know a lot of people like that show.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I've never seen it myself, but it's always done well.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Juliana Margulies. 78, a show my kid loves, everybody loves,
- 1:17Speaker 1: I couldn't get into. I'm just watching Danny DeVito being born.
- 1:23Speaker 1: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Yeah, I tried.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:28Speaker 1: I just couldn't get into it.
- 1:29Speaker 2: No.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Number 77, a clip we just played, Modern Family.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Was on from 2009 to 2020. Great show. Quite a run.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Let's see. Another nice thing the New York Times has
- 1:43Speaker 1: done is that they select somebody. So Brian Cranston apparently
- 1:49Speaker 1: voted for that one. Oh, and I guess he directed
- 1:51Speaker 1: some episodes of it. And so they had a little
- 1:54Speaker 1: clip of him commenting on what made Modern Family so great.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Number 76, Somebody Somewhere.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 2:03Speaker 2: So the name of that show was hard to remember,
- 2:07Speaker 2: and you can't tell what the show's about. But it's
- 2:09Speaker 2: Bridget Everett, and she's just a treasure. That whole show
- 2:13Speaker 2: was so well done.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I don't think I saw it. Yeah, it was quite good.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Although my wife will probably say, what do you mean?
- 2:19Speaker 1: We sat and watched the whole thing.
- 2:21Speaker 2: So semi-autobiographical. She comes from a small town, and she
- 2:26Speaker 2: goes home to take.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Care of her sick sister. Yeah. This one, the next one,
- 2:33Speaker 1: number 75, Ted Lasso. We all know what that is.
- 2:37Speaker 3: This season is, I don't know why everyone's crapping on
- 2:40Speaker 3: this season.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I like it. I'm enjoying it. It's the same show.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Number 74, The Bear. The Bear. Yeah. Pretty good. Number 73.
- 2:50Speaker 1: This show was great. It was on for 2018 to 2023. Barry. Oh, yeah.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Bill Hader. He's a hit man.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Stephen Root.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Stephen Root.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Who's in Widow's Bay now.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Stephen Root as his handler. And Henry Winkler. Yeah. That's right.
- 3:05Speaker 1: It's Gene Cousineau. Gene Cousineau. Gene Cousineau.
- 3:09Speaker 2: It's a great show.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Number 72. Squid Game.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Never watched it.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I did. I watched all three seasons. I liked the
- 3:18Speaker 1: I can't say I liked the first season, but I
- 3:20Speaker 1: thought the first season was the best. It sucked you in.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Then I stopped. I kind of fell out after watching
- 3:27Speaker 1: some of the second season. Number 71. Didn't think I
- 3:30Speaker 1: would like this show. Like it a lot. Beef. They're
- 3:33Speaker 1: season one of The Beef. We're talking about season one. Yeah,
- 3:36Speaker 1: they're talking specifically season one of The Beef. Steven Yeun
- 3:39Speaker 1: and Ali Wong. Yes. They were great. Great. Number 70.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I watched all of this show. Just because I loved
- 3:48Speaker 1: watching Vic Mackey chew the scenery. Number 70, The Shield.
- 3:53Speaker 1: The Shield? That's where we first saw Walton Goggins, pretty much.
- 3:57Speaker 1: He was the co-star with, what's his name, Michael Chiklis,
- 4:03Speaker 1: playing the merciless Vic Mackey. And Walton Goggins as his
- 4:08Speaker 1: tragically loyal right-hand man, Shane Vendrell. But, you know, nobody
- 4:13Speaker 1: can chew scenery like Michael Chiklis. Number... 69, Anthony Bourdain,
- 4:20Speaker 1: No Reservations.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Oh, that was such a good show.
- 4:23Speaker 1: 2005 to 2012. Yeah. Number 68, excellent show, one of
- 4:28Speaker 1: the greatest performances on TV, Ozark, 2017 to 2022, and
- 4:34Speaker 1: Julia Garner. Holy crap, she's good in that.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I mean, she really is.
- 4:39Speaker 1: They're all great. That was a really good show. Number 67,
- 4:44Speaker 1: I Couldn't Watch It, The Handmaid's Tale. Yeah, I wanted
- 4:48Speaker 1: to watch it. It's too close to... I still want
- 4:50Speaker 1: to watch it, but it is. It was just depressing.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Just depressing. Number 66, The Rehearsal.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I can't do it.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Nathan Fielder. I tried. There's a picture of him being
- 5:06Speaker 1: hoisted up into the air, and he's wearing a baby diaper.
- 5:09Speaker 2: He makes me so uncomfortable, and I know that's the point.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Number 65... and it just gives one year.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Has it only been on one season, The Mayor of Easttown? Yeah,
- 5:22Speaker 1: they only did one season.
- 5:23Speaker 2: But that's Kate Winslet.
- 5:25Speaker 1: It was really good. Jeremy Renner. Number 64, Anthony Bourdain
- 5:31Speaker 1: got another show, Parts Unknown.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Yeah, which was essentially no reservations.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Let's see, number 63, The Thick of It. I've never
- 5:41Speaker 1: even heard of that. Oh, it's... It is by... Before
- 5:46Speaker 1: he clowned Washington in Veep, Armando Iannucci had a go
- 5:51Speaker 1: at British politics. We're throwing British shows into this? Well,
- 5:57Speaker 1: but they showed it on BritBox, but it's the thick
- 6:02Speaker 1: of it. And apparently it's very, very unusual. Number 62,
- 6:06Speaker 1: a show that I finally started watching and then couldn't
- 6:09Speaker 1: stop watching. Slow Horses. Oh, yeah. 2022. New season out now. Yeah,
- 6:14Speaker 1: it just started. And what's his name?
- 6:18Speaker 3: Gary Oldman.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Gary Oldman is great. 61. RuPaul's Drag Race. How about that?
- 6:24Speaker 3: It's got a loyal following.
- 6:25Speaker 1: It sure does. Connie Britton commenting on it. Really? Yeah.
- 6:32Speaker 1: And so there you go. That's the next chunk of them.
- 6:35Speaker 1: The next chunk of the top TV shows. It's... I
- 6:40Speaker 1: think it's an interesting list. For one thing, so we've
- 6:44Speaker 1: done 40 of them. That's just a lot of good TV.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I mean, really, really well done stuff.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Half of that.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Yeah. Really well done. Is Arrested Development too old for
- 7:01Speaker 1: that list? No, I don't think so, no. Let me see.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Because I was thinking about this list briefly yesterday, and
- 7:11Speaker 3: I was wondering if certain shows that I think should
- 7:14Speaker 3: be on the list are too old.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean... Like Larry Sanders.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Would be too old to be on that list, and
- 7:19Speaker 3: the Larry Sanders show is a terrific show.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Oh, let's see. Arrested Development?
- 7:23Speaker 2: Yeah. It debuted in 2003. Oh, okay.
- 7:29Speaker 1: So it could make the list? I'm sure it would.
- 7:31Speaker 2: I'm sure it'll be on.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Yeah, because... Great show.
- 7:34Speaker 2: That's a good one to go back and... Like, you
- 7:36Speaker 2: watched it a long time ago.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Go back and rewatch. There were... See, there were three seasons,
- 7:41Speaker 1: and then a long break, and then a fourth season, right? No,
- 7:44Speaker 1: there were five seasons. Well, whatever it was, the last
- 7:48Speaker 1: one was not good. It was the one where they
- 7:50Speaker 1: made the.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Episodes like little movies or something, and they would string
- 7:58Speaker 3: them together.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Yeah, and it just wasn't good. It was when it
- 8:02Speaker 1: was on Netflix. Yeah.
- 8:04Speaker 2: That's right. They moved it to there.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Yeah. They shouldn't have done that. They should have just
- 8:08Speaker 1: left it. Let it be. All right. Well, there they
- 8:12Speaker 1: are anyway.
- 8:13Speaker 2: We'll do more tomorrow.
- 8:15Speaker 1: We'll get through them.
- 8:16Speaker 3: I finished my rewatch of Battlestar Galactica.
- 8:19Speaker 1: How many times have you rewatched it? This is only
- 8:22Speaker 1: the second time. I can't do that with many shows.
- 8:26Speaker 1: It's mainly because I feel like I don't have time.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Well, and then you read a list like that, and
- 8:32Speaker 2: there are lots on there that I haven't.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Ever seen, so I catch up on them. But was
- 8:36Speaker 1: it satisfying?
- 8:37Speaker 2: Very. Very.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Because I watched it when it was originally broadcast, and
- 8:41Speaker 3: then I bought the DVDs, but I didn't watch the DVDs.
- 8:45Speaker 3: I still have them. And when I saw it was
- 8:48Speaker 3: on Paramount +, I went, oh, okay, give it a shot.
- 8:51Speaker 3: And then I got hooked again, and there was a
- 8:52Speaker 3: lot of stuff that I forgot about and that I missed.
- 8:56Speaker 2: That tells you it's good that it hooked you again. Yeah.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Yeah, we've still got on this list, we've got to
- 9:02Speaker 1: get to, I'm sure, Succession. Oh, yeah, sure. Yeah, and
- 9:05Speaker 1: I'm sure Arrested Development will be there. I'm just watching
- 9:09Speaker 1: a short clip from that one, the Iannucci one, the
- 9:13Speaker 1: British one that I mentioned. It looks really funny and weird.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I've never even heard of it. But, I mean, Veep
- 9:19Speaker 2: is one of them.
- 9:19Speaker 1: So Veep's got to be on the list, too. I
- 9:21Speaker 1: love Veep.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Arrested Development Season 4 broke the normal progression and followed
- 9:26Speaker 3: a particular character. They recut it the normal way after
- 9:29Speaker 3: the backlash.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Oh.
- 9:31Speaker 2: All right.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Well, there you go.
- 9:33Speaker 3: We hope you've enjoyed another list with Radio From Hell
- 9:37Speaker 3: on X96.
