- 1:16Speaker 2: And so let's recap now, so we know every Let's
- 1:18Speaker 2: go through everyone that's left the show.
- 1:20Speaker 3: So far, so we've lot Stephen Baldwin, Steve Niece, Richards, Denise,
- 1:27Speaker 3: then of course yours truly. Yeah.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Then after that, Jordan.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Jordan, Nathan Adrian and.
- 1:36Speaker 4: Marion Jones, Marion Landon, Landon.
- 1:40Speaker 3: A lot of those are all. A lot of those
- 1:42Speaker 3: were medical.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Too, Yes, a lot of them were medical. And Golden
- 1:46Speaker 1: is still in it.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Golden still in it.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Yep, So let's bring him in. I'm so excited, let's.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Bring him in. I cannot wait.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I have not seen Golden Tate in quite some time,
- 1:55Speaker 2: but I'm a big fan for many reasons, and I'm
- 1:59Speaker 2: excited to touch base them and share those.
- 2:01Speaker 3: So hello, well it's up going to the third Hello. Hello,
- 2:06Speaker 3: how are we doing, Gang? Oh we're doing great, man,
- 2:09Speaker 3: We're doing great. Great to have you on the show.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Thank you for joining us.
- 2:12Speaker 5: My pleasure.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I was actually just watching your your podcast with Nathan,
- 2:18Speaker 2: and you got me laughing.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Yeah, it was.
- 2:20Speaker 5: It was great.
- 2:21Speaker 2: But I love that you guys both agreed that it's
- 2:22Speaker 2: time to get everyone of every ethnicity in the pool.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Amen of that, and I couldn't agree with you more.
- 2:29Speaker 3: I mean, it's it was. It was a great topic
- 2:31Speaker 3: to have with him, though, he's such a thoughtful guy. Now, yeah,
- 2:36Speaker 3: I think.
- 2:37Speaker 6: To spend enough time with Nathan, but right away, like
- 2:39Speaker 6: we just kind of hit it off, and like I
- 2:41Speaker 6: spent a lot of time with him in the vans
- 2:45Speaker 6: going to the different missions, and I just really enjoyed
- 2:47Speaker 6: like picking his brain. We're kind of in a similar
- 2:49Speaker 6: space as far as like new babies into our family,
- 2:51Speaker 6: trying to figure out the dynamic of how to be
- 2:54Speaker 6: a good dad, but also our sport is kind of done,
- 2:58Speaker 6: and trying to figure out how to manage dad and
- 3:00Speaker 6: find a new purpose. And so we had some really
- 3:02Speaker 6: good conversations and he's just a sweet, sweet, big teddy
- 3:07Speaker 6: bear that was always happy.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Yeah, he seems like a golden Before we get two
- 3:12Speaker 2: into stuff, I want to I want to remind you
- 3:14Speaker 2: how we've met. So I first met you with Scott
- 3:17Speaker 2: Fitter many years ago when you were at the Seahawks.
- 3:19Speaker 2: He's one of my best friends and he was like
- 3:22Speaker 2: the director of player personnel. And then then we met
- 3:26Speaker 2: Jermaine introduced us to play with my buddy Dave Ross.
- 3:30Speaker 2: We played golf a couple times, but Dave, do you
- 3:31Speaker 2: remember Dave?
- 3:32Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 3:33Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, you know, I'm usually really really really good
- 3:36Speaker 6: at with faces in this case, so I logged us like, man,
- 3:39Speaker 6: that name, I know that name from somewhere.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:42Speaker 2: He was like he owned an insurance company out in Seattle,
- 3:45Speaker 2: and was like mutual friends. And we ended up playing
- 3:48Speaker 2: golf a few times, and man, you are a stud
- 3:50Speaker 2: on the course. When they told me that, they're like, yeah,
- 3:53Speaker 2: well Golden wants to you know, wait a little bit
- 3:55Speaker 2: before we do the inter because he's finished up around
- 3:57Speaker 2: the golf.
- 3:57Speaker 3: I'm like, not a surprise, man, the guy could crush it.
- 4:01Speaker 3: And then the.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Last today, the last time we met, I'm going to
- 4:06Speaker 2: show you some I have a three year old and
- 4:09Speaker 2: from watching videos.
- 4:10Speaker 3: The last time we met was when you.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Were in Detroit, and get what my three year old's
- 4:16Speaker 2: jersey is.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Stark.
- 4:18Speaker 5: This isn't that crazy? That makes me so happy.
- 4:22Speaker 2: I mean it's honestly, it's so funny. I was like,
- 4:25Speaker 2: he's like, I love going. I'm like, how do you?
- 4:27Speaker 3: I mean, okay, you know, but I guess it's just
- 4:30Speaker 3: some like watching videos and watching old stuff.
- 4:32Speaker 2: And you know, because I used to do a lot
- 4:34Speaker 2: with the Lions franchise when and now, of course this
- 4:37Speaker 2: year you were one of the voices of the Lions
- 4:39Speaker 2: in the preseason too.
- 4:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:41Speaker 6: Yeah, so did some work with them and had some fun.
- 4:45Speaker 6: But man, calling them games is hard. It's not hard
- 4:50Speaker 6: because I'm talking about football, not football at the back
- 4:54Speaker 6: of my hand, but talking football and trying to articulate it.
- 4:58Speaker 6: So I'm not talking down to people, but all so
- 5:00Speaker 6: articulated where they can understand what's going on is like
- 5:02Speaker 6: a gift in it and so like you listen to
- 5:06Speaker 6: try Eightman and.
- 5:07Speaker 5: Joe Buck and they make it sound easy, but it's
- 5:10Speaker 5: it's a true gift.
- 5:10Speaker 6: And so I'm been in the in the lab trying
- 5:14Speaker 6: to grind it and figure out where in that space.
- 5:17Speaker 3: You know, who I love is that.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure it's gotta be tough, but I
- 5:20Speaker 2: think I think someone who really made a quick transition
- 5:22Speaker 2: to that is Tony Romo, like from a from a
- 5:25Speaker 2: not Some people don't like the.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Intricacies of the game that he gets into, but.
- 5:29Speaker 2: I really do, you know, because I played at Michigan
- 5:31Speaker 2: State years ago, and so in my mind it's like
- 5:34Speaker 2: taking me back to the to what could have been
- 5:36Speaker 2: you know, yeah, yeah, much like this show.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Yeah, well, much like this show could have been. Talk
- 5:44Speaker 3: I talk about this all the time. I'm always like, man,
- 5:46Speaker 3: this is the show I wish I could have been on.
- 5:48Speaker 3: You know. She's like, well, they might still call you.
- 5:49Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, but after watching it, I don't think
- 5:51Speaker 2: I could do it.
- 5:55Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 5:56Speaker 5: Where do we even start?
- 5:58Speaker 1: Yeah, no kidding, Well, actually I'd love to start with
- 6:02Speaker 1: just how you got approached, how you decided to actually
- 6:07Speaker 1: do it.
- 6:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:09Speaker 6: So I'm actually out in Bend, Oregon at the time,
- 6:12Speaker 6: and I met a wedding with my wife one of
- 6:15Speaker 6: her best friends. It's getting married out in Oregon, and
- 6:19Speaker 6: I get this text message and hey, would you be
- 6:22Speaker 6: interested in being on Special Forces World Sevice Tests. At
- 6:25Speaker 6: this point, I hadn't even really heard of the show,
- 6:27Speaker 6: had definitely hadn't watched it, and so I was like, oh, yeah,
- 6:30Speaker 6: you know whatever, So kind of forgot about it. And
- 6:33Speaker 6: then a day later while I was still in the
- 6:34Speaker 6: organ and say, hey, just you know the excellent emphasizing
- 6:38Speaker 6: the message like hey, makes you've seen this and stuff
- 6:40Speaker 6: like whatever. So I ended up like watching a few
- 6:44Speaker 6: like seconds like teasers and trailers, and half an episode.
- 6:47Speaker 6: I was like, oh, Okay, I feel like I could
- 6:49Speaker 6: do this. This could be fun, is what I think.
- 6:52Speaker 6: I said fun. Uh, you know, we negotiated back and forth,
- 6:58Speaker 6: and eventually I had my mind. I said that I
- 7:00Speaker 6: was going to do it as a nice, fun, little challenge,
- 7:03Speaker 6: and then I dove right into it.
- 7:04Speaker 5: Now, I only had about three weeks before it was.
- 7:08Speaker 6: Time to like, you know, go to London and Wales,
- 7:12Speaker 6: so I didn't have much time to prepare.
- 7:14Speaker 5: And boy was it was a rude awakening. When I
- 7:18Speaker 5: got there. I showed up thinking this is gonna be fun.
- 7:20Speaker 6: And from the very first moment they took those potato
- 7:23Speaker 6: bags off our faces in the middle of water. Stuff
- 7:26Speaker 6: got real quick. I got PTSD almost like thinking about
- 7:33Speaker 6: some of the stuff. But you know, it was kind
- 7:37Speaker 6: of like anything, you know, I had his ups and downs.
- 7:41Speaker 6: I would definitely say it was the hardest thing I've
- 7:43Speaker 6: ever done because it was mentally, emotionally and physically very
- 7:50Speaker 6: very tough. And in most jobs in the world, physically
- 7:55Speaker 6: you might have a tough day maybe emotionally, but mentally
- 7:57Speaker 6: you're probably okay or but you never have like all
- 8:00Speaker 6: all three of them boxes get checked out daily, and
- 8:02Speaker 6: they found a way to check those box every single day,
- 8:06Speaker 6: and it was just kind of wearing you down, and
- 8:08Speaker 6: like the psychology of it. They were so they were
- 8:12Speaker 6: really good, like at placing different things in our minds,
- 8:18Speaker 6: Like day seven is when they are eight or whatever.
- 8:22Speaker 5: They have us. They show us videos of our family.
- 8:25Speaker 6: If they were to showed these videos on day one
- 8:27Speaker 6: or two, we probably yeah, okay, whatever. But at day
- 8:30Speaker 6: seven where we were thinking, like I'm looking for a reason,
- 8:33Speaker 6: like to get out of here because it's hard, and
- 8:35Speaker 6: we know it's just going to get harder and harder
- 8:37Speaker 6: each day.
- 8:38Speaker 5: So you know, for me, those three things just made
- 8:42Speaker 5: it tough.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's tough. I mean the same thing I've
- 8:48Speaker 1: said it over and over again, hardest thing I've ever done.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I noticed in your pre interview. So when we're in
- 8:59Speaker 1: London before the show starts, we do all the interview
- 9:01Speaker 1: stuff and they ask us a billion questions of like
- 9:06Speaker 1: what if this and what if that?
- 9:07Speaker 4: And what if this?
- 9:08Speaker 2: Right?
- 9:09Speaker 1: But what I noticed in your pre interview I kept
- 9:12Speaker 1: getting drawn to one of your necklaces that was around
- 9:16Speaker 1: your neck and it looked like it was maybe made
- 9:18Speaker 1: my little teeny tiny hands. Can you tell us the
- 9:21Speaker 1: story of your maybe necklaces, but especially that necklace?
- 9:26Speaker 6: Yeah, My daughter London, who is now seventh six at
- 9:31Speaker 6: the time, knew we were getting ready for this big trip,
- 9:34Speaker 6: but me and my wife kind of censored her from
- 9:36Speaker 6: what was going on because we started to explain it
- 9:38Speaker 6: to her, like Dad's about to go to the show,
- 9:40Speaker 6: and right away she was like she saw like ten
- 9:42Speaker 6: seconds of was like.
- 9:43Speaker 5: No, Daddy, I don't want you to go, Like you
- 9:45Speaker 5: can't go like that, just don't go and tell them
- 9:48Speaker 5: you can't do it, say you're hurt. I was like,
- 9:50Speaker 5: oh no, no, make it back.
- 9:52Speaker 6: And then the data I left, she gave me this
- 9:54Speaker 6: necklace that I put on as I'm like in the
- 9:57Speaker 6: car head to the airport and I'm already like getting
- 9:59Speaker 6: them over like man, because I just don't want to
- 10:02Speaker 6: leave my babies, but also not have any contact with
- 10:05Speaker 6: any of my family for however long I guess. Now
- 10:08Speaker 6: we know that I was there for at least ten days.
- 10:12Speaker 6: So I was kind of nervous, frightened, had a little anxiety,
- 10:17Speaker 6: and so I put that necklace on and it was
- 10:18Speaker 6: weird because it gave me comfort. Whenever I would look
- 10:21Speaker 6: myself in the mirror, I would see, you know, in
- 10:25Speaker 6: my reflection, I would see my family who I was representing,
- 10:28Speaker 6: and I had a real deep pride to like make
- 10:31Speaker 6: them proud, And so it was a good reminder, like
- 10:35Speaker 6: when things got tough, like to just look down and
- 10:38Speaker 6: know that my little ones who loved me for just me,
- 10:41Speaker 6: they don't really care of the outcome. They just care
- 10:43Speaker 6: that Daddy comes back home and gives me a big hug.
- 10:46Speaker 6: And so it motivated me.
- 10:49Speaker 1: I love that I figured that one of your one
- 10:53Speaker 1: of your kiddo's made that necklace. I'm like, I just
- 10:56Speaker 1: have to hear the story, and I do have to
- 10:59Speaker 1: say if she listens, or if you want to, just
- 11:02Speaker 1: tell her and tell your wife, tell your kids. First
- 11:05Speaker 1: of all, I'd love to meet them at some point someday,
- 11:07Speaker 1: but please tell them from me that for sure, they
- 11:14Speaker 1: should be so proud of you. I mean, obviously it
- 11:17Speaker 1: speaks for itself, like you lasted as long as you've
- 11:20Speaker 1: lasted so far, and you've done such amazing things, but
- 11:24Speaker 1: the fact that you really truly kind of took care
- 11:30Speaker 1: of people like me who I just I just couldn't
- 11:36Speaker 1: do stuff. I just couldn't carry my pack, and I
- 11:40Speaker 1: couldn't run, and I couldn't whatever all these things and
- 11:44Speaker 1: instead of just you know, forging towards the front and
- 11:51Speaker 1: focusing and keeping your head down. You were always looking
- 11:54Speaker 1: out for the little people like me. So thank you
- 11:57Speaker 1: from the bottom of my heart. I like one of
- 12:00Speaker 1: the main reasons I wanted to have you on the podcast.
- 12:02Speaker 1: And I know I've said this in person, but I
- 12:04Speaker 1: want the world to know that you just have such
- 12:07Speaker 1: a huge heart. And I don't know if I could
- 12:10Speaker 1: have I don't know if I would have stayed for
- 12:12Speaker 1: the just two short days that I stayed had you
- 12:15Speaker 1: not been there. So thank you, and they should for
- 12:18Speaker 1: sure be so proud of you.
- 12:20Speaker 5: Oh my gosh, thank you so much.
- 12:21Speaker 6: I know we I really enjoyed my time with you
- 12:25Speaker 6: and everyone else, and I was able to acknowledge that,
- 12:29Speaker 6: you know, maybe I'm going to be physically stronger than
- 12:32Speaker 6: other people, and I always felt like I had more
- 12:33Speaker 6: in the tank and went I went into this like
- 12:36Speaker 6: with a mindset of like, hey, look, there's no like
- 12:39Speaker 6: clear winner in this, Like there's not like we make
- 12:41Speaker 6: it to the end, we get like this huge big
- 12:43Speaker 6: paycheck or anything.
- 12:44Speaker 5: It's just like you pass it or you don't.
- 12:46Speaker 6: And like my goal going into is like, hey, I
- 12:48Speaker 6: want everyone to go as far as they possibly can.
- 12:51Speaker 6: So if I can provide any physical help or mental
- 12:55Speaker 6: emotional support, I'm going to do that. And because it
- 12:58Speaker 6: was always better with us and numbers and so like it. Truly,
- 13:03Speaker 6: it really hurt when, you know, when you finally tapped out.
- 13:06Speaker 6: But I was really proud that you. You know, each
- 13:09Speaker 6: and every mission, you fought as long and as much
- 13:13Speaker 6: as you could. And I was really proud because you
- 13:16Speaker 6: could see, you could see and feel that Trista was
- 13:19Speaker 6: given everything she had even when she didn't have anything left,
- 13:23Speaker 6: and she was trying her best, and you know, eventually
- 13:28Speaker 6: you walked away, and it made me.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Sad, oh golden that morning. I feel like had it
- 13:35Speaker 1: not been so chaotic that morning, I would have stayed.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Like.
- 13:38Speaker 1: It was just so chaotic with the like gunshots or
- 13:42Speaker 1: whatever was in the trash can. It was just so
- 13:46Speaker 1: stressful and I was like, I just my body told
- 13:49Speaker 1: me last night that I it was at its limit,
- 13:52Speaker 1: and now mentally I'm like, I just can't do it.
- 13:54Speaker 1: And you looked at me and you said, I told you.
- 13:57Speaker 1: I pulled you aside and I said, I'm going to go,
- 14:00Speaker 1: said are you sure? I said, I was like yeah,
- 14:05Speaker 1: I just don't want to be a burden anymore. And
- 14:07Speaker 1: I feel like you've given enough of your time to
- 14:10Speaker 1: me that I want you to focus on your your journey.
- 14:14Speaker 1: So yeah, I was ready.
- 14:17Speaker 5: We had hey, I was read.
- 14:18Speaker 6: I was prepared to help you through the next day
- 14:21Speaker 6: and the next days as much as I possibly could.
- 14:23Speaker 6: But you know, I know, I know, And you made
- 14:27Speaker 6: it back safely and healthy and hopefully mentally in a
- 14:30Speaker 6: good in a decent place. We definitely missed you. But hey,
- 14:34Speaker 6: look I get it. You know that that one song
- 14:36Speaker 6: R Kelly song that we don't really want to use
- 14:38Speaker 6: his name too much, but you know that song.
- 14:41Speaker 5: My mind is telling me no, but my body, my
- 14:47Speaker 5: body tell me that's how it was on that it
- 14:52Speaker 5: was on mount a few times, like I can, like, god, Lee,
- 14:55Speaker 5: I don't know if I can do this.
- 15:00Speaker 4: Oh my goodness. Okay.
- 15:11Speaker 1: So I also want to draw attention to one thing
- 15:17Speaker 1: that I really noticed watching the last episode, and that was,
- 15:21Speaker 1: you know, when we got to the bridge the first day,
- 15:24Speaker 1: the bucks were bad, but they were nothing like when
- 15:29Speaker 1: you guys got back to the bridge to do the
- 15:31Speaker 1: breakman thing. Was it so hard to deal with that? Like,
- 15:35Speaker 1: how did you deal with it. Was it something that
- 15:37Speaker 1: was a problem and they just didn't show you guys
- 15:39Speaker 1: dealing with that because I was like, holy crap, they
- 15:42Speaker 1: are swarming around Billy and anyone who was down waiting
- 15:46Speaker 1: to be the brakeman or whatever.
- 15:49Speaker 5: Yeah, it was gnarly.
- 15:50Speaker 6: It was so gnarly both times when we did the jump,
- 15:54Speaker 6: but also the Brakeman and none stop just smacking your face,
- 15:58Speaker 6: swatting them away for several hours, and you were like
- 16:02Speaker 6: hoping that a breeze would come to just let them go.
- 16:05Speaker 5: Somewhere else, but they just kept picking at you.
- 16:07Speaker 6: And I remember on the Brakeman when we got back
- 16:10Speaker 6: to Billy who was at the bottom, and I kept
- 16:13Speaker 6: like trying to get him out of here, get him
- 16:14Speaker 6: out of here.
- 16:15Speaker 5: He's like, what are you scared of? They're just bugs.
- 16:18Speaker 6: I'm like, man, these little things bite and then these
- 16:20Speaker 6: little red marks. Actually, but you know, stop swatting your face.
- 16:23Speaker 6: I I wasn't get in trouble for visiting again and
- 16:25Speaker 6: get stuck in it again, which I was pissed off
- 16:30Speaker 6: that they did not show that an episode.
- 16:33Speaker 1: No, okay, you need to tell everybody about it. Please
- 16:35Speaker 1: tell everybody about it right now?
- 16:37Speaker 6: Okay, so day one, Day one, we finally get back
- 16:41Speaker 6: to the living quarters after getting thrown off a boat
- 16:43Speaker 6: and having to swim like a triathlon or something, we hike.
- 16:48Speaker 6: We finally get back and they he Billy makes a
- 16:51Speaker 6: comment of like something that we're doing wrong, and I
- 16:54Speaker 6: just like quickly like kind of pulled my shirt down
- 16:56Speaker 6: to make sure I'm like a uniform.
- 16:58Speaker 5: And they saying, you know, oh, no, stop feting.
- 17:02Speaker 3: You will be punished for that.
- 17:03Speaker 5: And I'm like, dang, the worst.
- 17:07Speaker 6: You don't want to hear, and everyone like straightens up,
- 17:10Speaker 6: but I get called out, and then eventually everyone goes
- 17:13Speaker 6: to the to see the living quarters, the mess hall,
- 17:16Speaker 6: the showers, the toilets and whatnot. Number nine come with
- 17:20Speaker 6: me and they put me in what we called as
- 17:22Speaker 6: a group, the chicken coop. Okay, the chicken coop is
- 17:25Speaker 6: probably what two feet underground and probably two feet above ground,
- 17:31Speaker 6: so it's high enough where you know, I can't I
- 17:35Speaker 6: can stand, but I can't like fully stand up like
- 17:39Speaker 6: I have to, Like I don't know, it's like a
- 17:42Speaker 6: child's pose, like when a cowld like sits and he's
- 17:44Speaker 6: pooping his diaper or something like that.
- 17:47Speaker 5: There like mites while everyone's.
- 17:51Speaker 6: Like just jogging around camp, and it became kind of
- 17:56Speaker 6: like a fun little game for me. I was like, man,
- 17:57Speaker 6: maybe I get one of the recruits to look over
- 17:59Speaker 6: here and like me like acting like a chicken.
- 18:01Speaker 5: And I got a few people.
- 18:02Speaker 6: I remember Brody like looked over and he saw me
- 18:05Speaker 6: being goofy and but so he didn't want to last,
- 18:06Speaker 6: so he was like look straight ahead again, but smirked.
- 18:09Speaker 5: And I think I got a few other people.
- 18:11Speaker 6: But I was a dang so I get in trouble
- 18:14Speaker 6: as soon as we get on to camp.
- 18:16Speaker 5: But they didn't show that they didn't.
- 18:20Speaker 4: I actually pointed it out to Ryan.
- 18:22Speaker 1: I was like, that is the chicken coop and where
- 18:25Speaker 1: Golden had had to squat, gosh, not sit.
- 18:29Speaker 4: Like, not be on your knees.
- 18:30Speaker 1: You were like you described it perfectly with a kid
- 18:33Speaker 1: pooping in their diaper or something.
- 18:34Speaker 6: I hadn't hurt it, buddy, I played football for twelve years. Okay,
- 18:43Speaker 6: these knees and ankles and toes have been through some
- 18:47Speaker 6: things putting on them boots and then get stuck in
- 18:54Speaker 6: a chicken coop that was brutal.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Oh my gosh.
- 18:58Speaker 1: And not only were you hiking, but you were carrying
- 19:01Speaker 1: somebody else's pack and yeah, you had a pack.
- 19:03Speaker 3: In the front of the pack in the back. Yeah
- 19:05Speaker 3: eighty pounds.
- 19:07Speaker 6: Even I guess, but I mean I could not believe,
- 19:11Speaker 6: like that's how we started at all.
- 19:12Speaker 5: Man. I was like, dang, that is crazy.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Oh, I was going to say, you know, one of
- 19:18Speaker 2: the things I thought was that we were talking about,
- 19:21Speaker 2: like even the episode with Trista, the two episodes of Trista,
- 19:23Speaker 2: I was so emotional.
- 19:24Speaker 3: I'm like text her on the side.
- 19:25Speaker 2: I'm like, man, I'm just so proud of you guys,
- 19:27Speaker 2: you know, And I feel like, even though we've only
- 19:29Speaker 2: met a few times, always felt like I knew you.
- 19:30Speaker 2: But I will say this, I think one of the
- 19:33Speaker 2: things that this show has done for a lot of
- 19:35Speaker 2: the people that've been on the show, not that they
- 19:37Speaker 2: need it, is that it's really highlighted things that people
- 19:40Speaker 2: wouldn't know about you otherwise. Right, Like everyone knows you've
- 19:43Speaker 2: been a standout since high school, college, pros, the whole bit,
- 19:46Speaker 2: but they didn't know that you had the ability to
- 19:48Speaker 2: really kind of go deep, you know, and you did.
- 19:51Speaker 2: I was like, like, you and Brody in particular, were
- 19:54Speaker 2: two people that I've known for years from different things
- 19:56Speaker 2: and watching guys on that show, I was like, oh
- 19:58Speaker 2: my god, I feel like I just you know, and
- 20:01Speaker 2: you were right, like the different levels that they go
- 20:03Speaker 2: to with you guys, and how they get you there,
- 20:04Speaker 2: but you weren't afraid to go there emotionally, which I
- 20:06Speaker 2: thought was pretty crazy.
- 20:08Speaker 6: Yeah, thank you, and man, well, thank you so much
- 20:11Speaker 6: for noticing that.
- 20:13Speaker 5: Yeah, I kind of went into it, like.
- 20:16Speaker 6: My foundations work closely with our military veterans. I've always
- 20:20Speaker 6: thought our military veterans are like real life superheroes. Yeah,
- 20:24Speaker 6: I understand the sacrifices that they've given for our freedom.
- 20:29Speaker 6: I've visited Frankfurt, Germany, and Kuwait on the USO tour.
- 20:34Speaker 6: I've always paid homage, and the NFL has like months
- 20:37Speaker 6: dedicated to our military, and I've spent a lot of
- 20:40Speaker 6: time with them and heard stories, but I've never had
- 20:43Speaker 6: a chance to actually live it. And we probably only
- 20:47Speaker 6: lived a tenth of what they actually go through. And
- 20:50Speaker 6: all six recruits, we knew that we were going back
- 20:53Speaker 6: home at some point, and we knew it was going
- 20:55Speaker 6: to be within right now or in ten days. And
- 20:59Speaker 6: that's not the luxury that they have. Like they were
- 21:01Speaker 6: out there not hoping that they were going to go home.
- 21:04Speaker 6: And so I guess the point I was making is
- 21:06Speaker 6: that I took myself mentally to a place that in
- 21:10Speaker 6: every scenario I was going to try to envision that
- 21:12Speaker 6: I was a man or a woman serving our country
- 21:15Speaker 6: and what it was actually going to be like, because
- 21:17Speaker 6: I really wasn't.
- 21:18Speaker 5: Worried about dying. I really wasn't worried.
- 21:19Speaker 6: You know, I don't like heights, but I know that
- 21:22Speaker 6: I was not going to die on jumping off a bridge.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Was.
- 21:25Speaker 5: I wasn't claustrophobic. I do hate the water.
- 21:28Speaker 6: They didn't tell about it to me that I wasn't
- 21:31Speaker 6: really scared of like any of that, And so I
- 21:34Speaker 6: was able to take myself before, before, after during every mission, like, man,
- 21:38Speaker 6: what would a soldier actually be thinking right now? And
- 21:40Speaker 6: just those thoughts kind of made me like get really
- 21:43Speaker 6: emotional and tear up.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, you're you were compassionate to everybody. It was.
- 21:49Speaker 2: It was It was really cool, man, I will say,
- 21:52Speaker 2: you know, being I think Q when we had Q
- 21:54Speaker 2: on we talked about this a little bit trist that
- 21:55Speaker 2: was you know, you you get used to watching everybody
- 21:58Speaker 2: from Afar, right especially with NFL players and stuff, and
- 22:01Speaker 2: you think you know them right, like you think you
- 22:03Speaker 2: know I would think your touchdown dances and you know
- 22:06Speaker 2: your posts.
- 22:06Speaker 3: I'd be like, oh, yeah, he's a funny guy. He
- 22:08Speaker 3: does this and this.
- 22:09Speaker 2: But then when you see in those moments and it's like,
- 22:10Speaker 2: you know, oh that's right, they're just a person just
- 22:12Speaker 2: like me. They're going through the same emotions I'm going through,
- 22:15Speaker 2: you know, or whatever. And it was really I thought
- 22:17Speaker 2: it was a really great thing for you, especially the
- 22:20Speaker 2: way that you embrace that side of it, because I'm
- 22:21Speaker 2: sure that's that's got to be something that challenges a
- 22:24Speaker 2: lot of the professional athletes to go on there.
- 22:26Speaker 5: Absolutely absolutely, so thanks for seeing that.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, man.
- 22:30Speaker 2: I was proud for you, like like I knew, like
- 22:33Speaker 2: I like I knew yet, but yeah, but Trista, Man,
- 22:37Speaker 2: I still say this this day, Trista on that show
- 22:40Speaker 2: to see one of like someone who I've known now
- 22:42Speaker 2: for twenty years very closely, to go through the things
- 22:45Speaker 2: that she went through and just to push to that
- 22:46Speaker 2: next level.
- 22:48Speaker 3: I was impressed, Trista. I really was. You know, I
- 22:51Speaker 3: think I've told you, but it really is the truth.
- 22:53Speaker 3: You did great.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Thank you. I mean, I feel like the two days
- 22:58Speaker 1: is nothing. And actually I don't know your you know,
- 23:03Speaker 1: we have to wait and find out how long you last,
- 23:06Speaker 1: if you last until the very end, golden. But for me,
- 23:09Speaker 1: you know, coming home, I was at you, you know,
- 23:12Speaker 1: I was at such a peaceful place when I left.
- 23:14Speaker 1: I was like, it's the right time. But I have
- 23:17Speaker 1: thought like maybe I should have pushed through and kept going,
- 23:22Speaker 1: you know, and then there's this battle, you know, back
- 23:25Speaker 1: and forth. But gosh, the two days is nothing, I
- 23:29Speaker 1: feel like compared to what you guys have done, the
- 23:32Speaker 1: being freaking.
- 23:33Speaker 4: Buried all lit b.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I mean, so I don't know what if you've had
- 23:41Speaker 1: any experience with reality television, but obviously I have a
- 23:45Speaker 1: little bit for you know, twenty two whatever years, and
- 23:50Speaker 1: I know that producers are going to ask you. If
- 23:53Speaker 1: they ask you certain questions and you answer them, they're
- 23:56Speaker 1: going to use it against you, you know, against you.
- 23:59Speaker 1: So when they asked what our biggest fears were, I
- 24:02Speaker 1: did not mention being buried alive was one of them.
- 24:06Speaker 1: And I can't just because I knew, okay, maybe they'll
- 24:09Speaker 1: take that and run with it and I'll actually be
- 24:11Speaker 1: buried alive. And I didn't want to give them information,
- 24:15Speaker 1: and you guys actually did it. I think that would
- 24:17Speaker 1: be my worst fear. Was that one of the worst
- 24:20Speaker 1: tasks for you? Or were you able to just mentally
- 24:23Speaker 1: like zen out and deal with it.
- 24:27Speaker 5: So when we showed up to this I can't remember,
- 24:30Speaker 5: did were you there for the buds training?
- 24:33Speaker 6: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, okay, So we showed up to that
- 24:37Speaker 6: same location of the bus training. My heart stopped.
- 24:41Speaker 5: I was like no, no, no, no, no, not long again,
- 24:45Speaker 5: not longer again. Please, I can't, I can't do this again.
- 24:49Speaker 6: And then it was like, almost like when I heard
- 24:51Speaker 6: when I figured out we were getting buried, it was
- 24:54Speaker 6: kind of like, Okay, I can deal with this, which
- 24:58Speaker 6: was really yeah, because it was like physically, you know,
- 25:02Speaker 6: I'm not going to get crushed now. What was hard
- 25:06Speaker 6: for me again was like once we got in that
- 25:08Speaker 6: box and I understand, I tried to take to like
- 25:11Speaker 6: understand the magnitude of what was actually happening in real
- 25:14Speaker 6: life for men and women, and like that's what kind
- 25:16Speaker 6: of like got me and crushed me, like because like
- 25:18Speaker 6: I said, I wasn't claustrophobic, and you know, I didn't
- 25:21Speaker 6: know if we're going to be in there for thirty
- 25:22Speaker 6: minutes or three hours, it really didn't matter. But it
- 25:26Speaker 6: took me to a place of thinking, like, like, as humans,
- 25:31Speaker 6: we make so many mistakes throughout the day, and you know,
- 25:36Speaker 6: in life, but hours a lot of there's not really
- 25:39Speaker 6: a consequence for our mistake, right, and our men and
- 25:43Speaker 6: women who serve our country and these missions A minor
- 25:48Speaker 6: a minor mistake such as not half your button button
- 25:51Speaker 6: or a shoelace not tied can result in your best
- 25:56Speaker 6: friend being killed at war, and like thinking about thinking about, like, man,
- 26:02Speaker 6: if something, if I were to make, you know, skip
- 26:05Speaker 6: a step in whatever the situation was the result of,
- 26:09Speaker 6: like me having a give American flag to my best
- 26:11Speaker 6: friend's wife and say, hi, I'm sorry that your husband
- 26:15Speaker 6: and also the father and children is no longer coming
- 26:17Speaker 6: home because of the silly, careless mistake I made. And
- 26:20Speaker 6: so I was able to like sit there and think
- 26:22Speaker 6: about that, like how many times has it actually happened?
- 26:25Speaker 5: At war?
- 26:27Speaker 6: But it's also made me respect my military is so
- 26:29Speaker 6: much more of the elite discipline that you have to have,
- 26:33Speaker 6: and like, along with that discipline comes like the focused
- 26:36Speaker 6: part of it, controlling your heart rate and very chaotic situations,
- 26:41Speaker 6: and it's it's not something that's easy to do. You
- 26:44Speaker 6: have to train yourself. And so like that's another reason
- 26:47Speaker 6: like I admire them so much. So like kind of
- 26:49Speaker 6: what you're saying, Like it wasn't really the burier being
- 26:52Speaker 6: buried apart, it was like the thought of, like how
- 26:55Speaker 6: we got to this point.
- 26:58Speaker 1: That's a great perspective. Lore able to tap into that?
- 27:02Speaker 1: Like is that something that you feel like you've been
- 27:05Speaker 1: able to tap into in normal life? Like getting back
- 27:09Speaker 1: to your real life? Because for me, you know, one
- 27:14Speaker 1: thing I took away, one major thing I took away
- 27:16Speaker 1: from the show is just that I am really lucky.
- 27:20Speaker 1: You know, I live in a country where we have
- 27:25Speaker 1: soldiers who fight for our freedom and I have, you know,
- 27:29Speaker 1: a beautiful family and so many blessings. And I left
- 27:33Speaker 1: with that kind of perspective, and you know, in times
- 27:39Speaker 1: that I get frustrated, I try to remember that, you know,
- 27:43Speaker 1: and tap into that. Is that something that you feel
- 27:49Speaker 1: the same, you know, did you take away the same
- 27:52Speaker 1: kind of things? And are you able to use that
- 27:54Speaker 1: perspective in your daily life?
- 27:57Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 27:57Speaker 6: You know, it's a space that I'm unfamiliar with, and
- 28:02Speaker 6: at times uncomfortable. I grew up just a little bit different,
- 28:06Speaker 6: and I almost was taught not to feel.
- 28:10Speaker 5: And so that's where sports placed such a big part
- 28:13Speaker 5: in my life. Is that I didn't grow up the
- 28:15Speaker 5: most fortunate and having dinner every night and having all
- 28:19Speaker 5: the necessities of to be successful in life were at school.
- 28:23Speaker 5: But sports is where I went to feel like I
- 28:26Speaker 5: was okay and that was good enough. And so you know,
- 28:30Speaker 5: I wouldn't change any of that, you know, to the
- 28:33Speaker 5: journey of where I got, but it kind of taught me, like,
- 28:36Speaker 5: you know, perspective is everything, kind of to your question,
- 28:42Speaker 5: is I was taught not to feel, And so I've
- 28:44Speaker 5: been working on that through through professionals of like flocking
- 28:49Speaker 5: into my emotions and understanding like my childhood to how
- 28:53Speaker 5: I got to this point and being you know, more
- 28:55Speaker 5: compassionate because I feel like whenever things would go away
- 28:59Speaker 5: in life, I would just flip the switch off and
- 29:01Speaker 5: try to ignore the emotion, ignore the feelings, and I
- 29:05Speaker 5: would just run away from it and go straight to
- 29:07Speaker 5: like a sports field. It even happens now, like whenever
- 29:09Speaker 5: I get angry at my kids or me and my
- 29:12Speaker 5: wife have a disagreement, instead of like talking about it
- 29:15Speaker 5: and working through it. I run away from it and
- 29:17Speaker 5: I go play a sport or I'm a thirty six
- 29:20Speaker 5: year old that goes and plays Call of Duty or something.
- 29:22Speaker 6: I just kind of avoid those feelings. I've been working
- 29:25Speaker 6: on just trying to like be okay with these feelings.
- 29:29Speaker 5: Likes. My feelings are my feelings.
- 29:31Speaker 6: I own those for the rest of the time, and
- 29:33Speaker 6: it's okay if I feel a certain way, even though
- 29:35Speaker 6: maybe I shouldn't feel that way, but that's my feelings.
- 29:37Speaker 6: And so acknowledging that is something I went into this
- 29:40Speaker 6: wanting to pay a lot of attention to.
- 29:43Speaker 5: And also perspective.
- 29:44Speaker 6: I think perspective is so key just in life, and
- 29:47Speaker 6: I think it's something that we all need to focus
- 29:49Speaker 6: a little bit more on, because, look, the truth matters.
- 29:54Speaker 6: I can be living in the middle of North Dakota
- 29:56Speaker 6: and I can personally think it is the greatest place
- 29:59Speaker 6: on the entire planet.
- 30:01Speaker 5: But I can also, in the same sense.
- 30:03Speaker 6: Probably make it make it seem like it's the worst
- 30:06Speaker 6: place on the entire planet.
- 30:07Speaker 5: So it's just how do you think about it? How
- 30:09Speaker 5: do you think about it?
- 30:10Speaker 6: Like being on Special Forces made me really think about
- 30:14Speaker 6: like that what am I really complaining about in life?
- 30:17Speaker 6: Like what really truly matters and what doesn't truly matter?
- 30:20Speaker 6: And like I'm cheating myself If I'm not gonna remember
- 30:23Speaker 6: what was going with like while I was mad next week,
- 30:26Speaker 6: then I need to drop it. And it's hard to
- 30:28Speaker 6: do at times, and so like just kind of you know,
- 30:31Speaker 6: I could have very easily felt sorry for myself, but
- 30:34Speaker 6: instead I said, you know what, instead of feeling sorry
- 30:36Speaker 6: for myself, I'm gonna I know that there's someone who
- 30:39Speaker 6: has it way worse than I am than I do.
- 30:42Speaker 6: In converse, I can probably make an excuse for there's
- 30:44Speaker 6: someone who has it way better than me. But my
- 30:47Speaker 6: cards are my cards, and it's like what I do
- 30:49Speaker 6: with it moving forward. And so I was able to
- 30:52Speaker 6: like go into this thing like with kind.
- 30:54Speaker 5: Of like a.
- 30:56Speaker 6: Like a very broad plan and perspective on it, and
- 31:00Speaker 6: kind of I was able to hang on to it
- 31:02Speaker 6: and kind of focus on those few little pillars.
- 31:06Speaker 2: It almost seems like you made a spiritual journey out
- 31:08Speaker 2: of it too, you know, like I know you were
- 31:09Speaker 2: keeping a journal and you know you were doing things
- 31:12Speaker 2: like that which would really keep you in touch with
- 31:13Speaker 2: those feelings. So you know, that's that's kind of that's
- 31:16Speaker 2: huge man, to be able to go through that, especially
- 31:19Speaker 2: you know where you're at with your life. Like you know,
- 31:21Speaker 2: you were pretty open in the mirror room talking to
- 31:23Speaker 2: the guys like I'm just trying to figure out what's next,
- 31:25Speaker 2: you know, And that's a hard thing for a man
- 31:27Speaker 2: to say, right that you don't know what's next, especially
- 31:29Speaker 2: with all the success you've had. So I can imagine
- 31:32Speaker 2: it's got to you know, it's got to really kind
- 31:34Speaker 2: of hit a nerve. Did you have you gone back
- 31:36Speaker 2: and looked at any of the of the journal entries
- 31:38Speaker 2: that you made while you were on the show, and
- 31:40Speaker 2: have you have they resonated with you at all?
- 31:42Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 31:43Speaker 6: I read them at the reunion out in LA and
- 31:46Speaker 6: then I I actually keep them in my backpack and
- 31:48Speaker 6: I looked at them from time to time just to
- 31:50Speaker 6: refer to. You know, over time, you just forget details
- 31:52Speaker 6: unless you're telling me every day. So I've forgotten a
- 31:55Speaker 6: few little things and they refer back to it. I'm like,
- 31:57Speaker 6: oh my gosh, Like I giggle, you know, listening to
- 32:00Speaker 6: the theme or the note of the day that I made,
- 32:02Speaker 6: and you know, like kind of like you like you said, like, yeah,
- 32:05Speaker 6: it was. I was very spiritual with it, and I
- 32:10Speaker 6: think I think that's what we as people need to
- 32:14Speaker 6: kind of lean in on a little bit more. I
- 32:17Speaker 6: think we get caught up thinking we need to we can,
- 32:21Speaker 6: and we need to fix every single problem. But the
- 32:24Speaker 6: God that I serve wants us to lean on him
- 32:27Speaker 6: at our weakest moments and let him do the work.
- 32:30Speaker 6: And I promise that if that, if I could just
- 32:34Speaker 6: trust in God's plan and not my own plan, I'm
- 32:36Speaker 6: going to come out of this much more stronger, with
- 32:38Speaker 6: greater perspective, a humble heart, a serving heart, more wisdom,
- 32:45Speaker 6: and a better understanding on what truly matters.
- 32:48Speaker 5: And so trying to like keep that theme.
- 32:52Speaker 6: In my mind when I am being pulled by the
- 32:55Speaker 6: enemy to be selfish or to say something that's not factual,
- 33:01Speaker 6: or talk about someone or just act in a not
- 33:03Speaker 6: good way, I just have to remember that and also remember, like, man,
- 33:07Speaker 6: I serve a God that gave it all up for
- 33:10Speaker 6: me and said, being able to like remind myself and
- 33:14Speaker 6: not feel sorry for myself has kind of helped me
- 33:18Speaker 6: and it just makes my problems feel small. And although
- 33:21Speaker 6: these problems are big in this moment, but in the
- 33:24Speaker 6: grand scheme of things, it's really it doesn't matter. And
- 33:30Speaker 6: to people out there that are going through stuff, it's
- 33:32Speaker 6: okay to go through stuff, and there's someone else's going
- 33:35Speaker 6: through stuff. So find you someone that you can talk to,
- 33:38Speaker 6: that you trust and can and can work out of
- 33:41Speaker 6: this this right. But more importantly, like lean on God,
- 33:44Speaker 6: like God has got you, and that we have a
- 33:47Speaker 6: God that's so much bigger than anything we can even
- 33:50Speaker 6: understand and and do my trials, if we just seek
- 33:53Speaker 6: to be closer to our God, I promise you we're
- 33:57Speaker 6: going to come back out of it and be strong longer.
- 34:00Speaker 6: And so sorry to turn this into like a church service, no.
- 34:06Speaker 3: Truth, Yeah that's what happens.
- 34:08Speaker 2: I mean, man, you think about it that way, everyone
- 34:10Speaker 2: that goes through this show, especially if they come through
- 34:13Speaker 2: with that kind of perspective, Golden, I mean, it'd be
- 34:15Speaker 2: a whole different.
- 34:16Speaker 3: World, buddy, I mean, you know, it really would.
- 34:18Speaker 2: I mean, people going through this, I mean it's like
- 34:20Speaker 2: it really is a challenge for everyone, and it's a shame.
- 34:22Speaker 2: It's only what thirteen people or sixteen people or how
- 34:25Speaker 2: many people started the season, I can't remember, Yeah, sixteen people.
- 34:28Speaker 2: So it's shame they don't do it for you know,
- 34:30Speaker 2: a whole lot more, because I think we could all
- 34:32Speaker 2: use it.
- 34:33Speaker 3: You know, it's nice to hear you say that.
- 34:34Speaker 6: It was really good that this show, like I think
- 34:38Speaker 6: to our kids and other people like you, didn't show
- 34:41Speaker 6: all of us at our absolute best, when we're all
- 34:43Speaker 6: in our best clothing, make up, fresh haircuts. You showed
- 34:47Speaker 6: us in a very vulnerable state. And you know, we
- 34:51Speaker 6: were all okay with that because we knew we were
- 34:53Speaker 6: signing up. So I thought that said that said a
- 34:56Speaker 6: lot about you know, just like like, hey, it's be
- 35:00Speaker 6: perfect because social media is gonna pay everyone to be
- 35:03Speaker 6: had this perfect life and none of us have none.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Yeah, you're so right, No, we sure do not. Okay,
- 35:20Speaker 1: the really pressing question, who do you think is going
- 35:22Speaker 1: to win the Super Bowl?
- 35:25Speaker 5: It's a loaded questionnaire.
- 35:30Speaker 3: I was gonna say the Lions three weeks ago. I'll
- 35:33Speaker 3: tell you that much.
- 35:36Speaker 6: Okay. So I'm kind of torn. I'm torn, and I'm
- 35:39Speaker 6: gonna tell you I'm torn because I played with A. J.
- 35:43Speaker 5: Brown.
- 35:44Speaker 6: Saquon Barclave played with him, and I've always thought the
- 35:47Speaker 6: world of him, and I thought he was the best
- 35:49Speaker 6: one of the He's going to be known as one
- 35:50Speaker 6: of the best runner backs ever play based off his
- 35:54Speaker 6: effort is ethic, work, ethic, and his talent. But at
- 35:58Speaker 6: the same time, like we are able to potentially witness
- 36:02Speaker 6: like history, something that's never been done before. Patrick Mahomes
- 36:06Speaker 6: and Kelsey and any read to three pet and our sport.
- 36:11Speaker 6: I don't know if people really understand how incredibly hard
- 36:14Speaker 6: that is, because the intangibles and the tangibles have pretty
- 36:19Speaker 6: much need to line up for three straight years in
- 36:21Speaker 6: order for you to do that, and no team is
- 36:23Speaker 6: ever the same. I don't care, it's just never the same.
- 36:27Speaker 6: Guys move on to different teams, they retire, coaches go
- 36:31Speaker 6: get better opportunities, guys will get more money.
- 36:33Speaker 5: And so to have to build.
- 36:35Speaker 6: A team essentially three years straight and to have that
- 36:41Speaker 6: team and the ultimate team sport click well enough to
- 36:46Speaker 6: be called world champions is so hard to do. And
- 36:50Speaker 6: so I appreciate that on a whole another level because
- 36:53Speaker 6: I was able to win one Super Bowl and it
- 36:56Speaker 6: was very, very very hard to win one that loan
- 37:00Speaker 6: to do it three times in three consecutive years.
- 37:04Speaker 5: I know guys who've played.
- 37:06Speaker 6: I know guys like Calvin Johnson and Barry, you know
- 37:10Speaker 6: Barry Sanders who played for eight, nine, ten, twelve years
- 37:14Speaker 6: and didn't even make it to the playoffs or didn't
- 37:16Speaker 6: even want a playoff game. And so to be able
- 37:18Speaker 6: to carton the world champion is a big deal. And
- 37:21Speaker 6: so we're witnessing something that is beyond special. So I
- 37:24Speaker 6: encourage people who like are tired of the Chiefs swinning
- 37:28Speaker 6: and I'm tired of seeing Patrick Mahomes and Kelsey and
- 37:31Speaker 6: Taylor Swift. Hey, look we're in the presence of greatness,
- 37:35Speaker 6: and hold onto this memory because one thing I have
- 37:38Speaker 6: learned in sport is that the people who are go
- 37:41Speaker 6: toed are typically the people who are not liked. And
- 37:45Speaker 6: because people want to build you up and eventually once
- 37:48Speaker 6: you get there, they want to tear your butty down.
- 37:51Speaker 6: People don't like Lebron for what reason, Because he's great,
- 37:55Speaker 6: he's not getting in trouble. You don't hear much about
- 37:57Speaker 6: him getting in trouble off the court. Right, hated Kobe
- 38:01Speaker 6: pretty much until he passed away, and now we appreciate
- 38:03Speaker 6: him shot me because of whatever reason.
- 38:05Speaker 5: Now we appreciate it.
- 38:06Speaker 6: Now he's done playing, and so like, enjoy this moment,
- 38:10Speaker 6: you know, with whatever happens. But nonetheless, I think it's
- 38:13Speaker 6: gonna be a great game. I think you're a.
- 38:15Speaker 5: Bunch of superstars all.
- 38:17Speaker 6: On one field. Yeah, it's gonna be pretty special to
- 38:20Speaker 6: watch that. And so I'm pumped you went.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Were you on the Seahawks team with the year you
- 38:25Speaker 2: guys went back the second year in a row?
- 38:26Speaker 3: Or was that when you went to Detroit?
- 38:28Speaker 5: That was my first year in Detroit?
- 38:30Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, because I remember I went to that because
- 38:33Speaker 2: I'm good buddies at Warren Moon, and so I went
- 38:36Speaker 2: out to that game, and then the second year I
- 38:38Speaker 2: went out to the second one, and when when the
- 38:40Speaker 2: Seahawks lost, I was like, oh my gosh, I couldn't
- 38:42Speaker 2: be leave it. But yeah, yeah, that's interesting. That's really interesting. Cool,
- 38:46Speaker 2: And I agree with you, man. I mean, I love
- 38:47Speaker 2: Saquon Barkley. I just I'd love to see him win one.
- 38:51Speaker 2: But you're right, I wasn't. I'm one of those tired
- 38:53Speaker 2: of the Chiefs guys. So that resonated with me. I'm
- 38:55Speaker 2: gonna think about it differently.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's so true. Though we are hopefully
- 39:02Speaker 1: witnessing history. I mean, good football is good football. Hopefully
- 39:07Speaker 1: everyone will watch and hopefully everyone will watch the finale.
- 39:12Speaker 1: I cannot see of Special Forces World Stuffest Test. It's
- 39:19Speaker 1: on Wednesday nights. You can watch on Fox and then
- 39:22Speaker 1: the next night binge it on Hulu. Golden, thank you
- 39:28Speaker 1: so much for coming on the Almost Famous OG podcast.
- 39:31Speaker 1: We are really excited about your podcast. So where can
- 39:34Speaker 1: people find you? And you know, of course the Tate
- 39:37Speaker 1: Tate three, t third Jersey, But where can people find you?
- 39:44Speaker 5: Well, first off, I can't answer the question. So you
- 39:46Speaker 5: tell me who you got in the Super Bowl.
- 39:48Speaker 2: Oh, I'll tell you this. I'm buying a bunch of squares.
- 39:54Speaker 2: Just buy a bunch of squares. Had I just want
- 39:56Speaker 2: everyone to have fun.
- 40:00Speaker 1: I think what you said is right right on.
- 40:04Speaker 4: I will be well.
- 40:05Speaker 1: I will be at a dance competition with my daughter
- 40:08Speaker 1: on Sunday, so and she literally has dances from like
- 40:13Speaker 1: nine in the morning until ten at night.
- 40:15Speaker 4: So I will be at a dance competition.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Unfortunately, actually fortunately because I love dance competitions.
- 40:22Speaker 4: But I would love.
- 40:23Speaker 1: To see the game. I know my husband will be
- 40:26Speaker 1: watching and rooting for both of us. But I do
- 40:29Speaker 1: think that it is true like people love to knock
- 40:33Speaker 1: people down. Tom Brady is a perfect example. You know,
- 40:35Speaker 1: you're you're you are the man in football, and everyone
- 40:41Speaker 1: just is a hater, so I feel like, yeah, like
- 40:46Speaker 1: why not lift them up?
- 40:47Speaker 3: This?
- 40:48Speaker 1: This is historical, so I have to say, I'm a
- 40:51Speaker 1: Midwestern girl, I gotta go for the Chiefs.
- 40:54Speaker 5: Okay, all right, I'm struggling.
- 40:57Speaker 3: I will say this.
- 40:57Speaker 2: I'm struggling because my team in Madden back in the
- 41:00Speaker 2: day was I would take I would take the Donovan
- 41:03Speaker 2: McNabb Eagles to the super Bowl every year.
- 41:06Speaker 3: And I don't know why it was my team back
- 41:08Speaker 3: in the day.
- 41:09Speaker 2: I'm Madden, so I'm such a Lions guy, so it's
- 41:11Speaker 2: hard for me to root for anybody else. But I
- 41:14Speaker 2: will say, I am going to have to rethink I was.
- 41:17Speaker 2: I was all Eagles all the way until you just
- 41:19Speaker 2: said what you said. And now I'm starting to wonder
- 41:21Speaker 2: if I'm one of those haters. So I got to
- 41:23Speaker 2: rethink when I'm I got to rethink this. I'm not
- 41:26Speaker 2: so I'm not sick of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey.
- 41:29Speaker 2: I think it's adorable, so you know, from that perspective,
- 41:31Speaker 2: it doesn't.
- 41:32Speaker 3: Bug me a bit.
- 41:33Speaker 2: But but yeah, I think I got to get over
- 41:37Speaker 2: the fact that I feel like sometimes Mahomes uses the
- 41:40Speaker 2: the the rules to his favor, you know, with kind
- 41:44Speaker 2: of drifting to the sidelines and cutting up when everybody
- 41:46Speaker 2: else backs off. That one makes me mad, but but
- 41:49Speaker 2: I get it. He's just smart. So I gotta quit hating.
- 41:54Speaker 4: Yea, quit Hayten.
- 41:57Speaker 6: You can see Showtime with Golden on Spotify, Apple, or
- 42:03Speaker 6: you can watch it on YouTube. We've had some amazing
- 42:07Speaker 6: guests out there so and we'll probably even even once
- 42:11Speaker 6: the season's over, will still be having some contestants. Hopefully
- 42:15Speaker 6: Trusty will come on and join us and we'll have
- 42:18Speaker 6: some fun with it and see what happens.
- 42:21Speaker 4: I would love that.
- 42:22Speaker 1: I would love it. So yes, everyone go listen to
- 42:25Speaker 1: Showtime and follow you on Instagram. I love your recaps
- 42:28Speaker 1: when you're sitting by the by the TV and you're
- 42:30Speaker 1: just like, and this happened, and this happened.
- 42:34Speaker 5: Yeah, you know.
- 42:39Speaker 6: I think I might go ahead and do like a
- 42:40Speaker 6: whole season recap and like just take like, oh know,
- 42:43Speaker 6: use the actual season as a green screaming I guess,
- 42:46Speaker 6: and then I'll be like, paulse this is what actually
- 42:48Speaker 6: happened here, and maybe do it for each episode, just
- 42:52Speaker 6: will take some time.
- 42:53Speaker 1: That'd be great, you know what, please do that, if
- 42:56Speaker 1: if only just for all of the rest of the recruits,
- 42:58Speaker 1: because part of me wants to write the producers and
- 43:01Speaker 1: ask if we can have like the raw footage, you know,
- 43:05Speaker 1: just so I can actually show my family that I
- 43:07Speaker 1: did these tasks, because they didn't show me doing much
- 43:11Speaker 1: other than crying. So I would love to see the
- 43:17Speaker 1: raw footage. But at least if there's like, you know,
- 43:19Speaker 1: this is this is really what was going down, and
- 43:21Speaker 1: I was in the chicken coop and squatting like I
- 43:24Speaker 1: was pooping my diapers.
- 43:25Speaker 2: But anyways, yeah, Golden, thank you man, thanks for joining us.
- 43:35Speaker 2: It's been really great getting to reconnect with you a
- 43:37Speaker 2: little bit. And like I said, Man, I think as
- 43:40Speaker 2: a as a viewer who wasn't on the show with
- 43:42Speaker 2: both of you, I think just the you know, the
- 43:45Speaker 2: mental toughness and but also the compassion that you you
- 43:49Speaker 2: specifically show Golden too, you know, the other people on
- 43:51Speaker 2: your team and in your troop and and the cadets.
- 43:53Speaker 2: I think, you know, like Trista always says she was
- 43:55Speaker 2: you were one of her angels, and so I think
- 43:58Speaker 2: it's pretty cool to see that and then to you know, see,
- 44:01Speaker 2: like I said, you and Brody, for whatever reason, have
- 44:03Speaker 2: stood out to me as two of the men on
- 44:05Speaker 2: the show who really kind of you know, showed people
- 44:08Speaker 2: your emotions and showed a different side of you that
- 44:11Speaker 2: that we had never gotten to see before. And I
- 44:12Speaker 2: think that was huge and I think you needed to
- 44:14Speaker 2: do that, but I think it was huge that you
- 44:15Speaker 2: guys have both done that.
- 44:16Speaker 3: I think it really lets people fall in love with
- 44:18Speaker 3: the show.
- 44:19Speaker 5: Thank you so much.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Yeah, you're welcome, Thank you, and would love to come
- 44:23Speaker 1: on the podcast, so you just let me know when.
- 44:27Speaker 5: Alrighty, all right, awesome.
- 44:29Speaker 3: Thanks everybody, Thank you so much.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Loved having you.
- 44:34Speaker 5: Pleasure, my pleasure.
