- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on. Uh huh, I sure will. Good morning everybody
- 0:07Speaker 1: you are listening to the voice, Come on, dig me now.
- 0:10Speaker 2: One and only Steve Harvey got a radio show. Man o,
- 0:16Speaker 2: man o man. I thank God for it.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I thank God for all He's done for me, for
- 0:23Speaker 1: all the little things that I oftentimes failed to thank
- 0:27Speaker 1: him for that I take for granted for you know,
- 0:32Speaker 1: I was. I was talking the other day to a
- 0:34Speaker 1: buddy of mine. We had gotten to this conversation about
- 0:39Speaker 1: God and and and in the conversation we had narrowed
- 0:45Speaker 1: it down and we were talking about changing the way
- 0:47Speaker 1: we are as people. You know that everybody has to change.
- 0:53Speaker 1: You know, nothing stays the same. Everybody changes, and a
- 0:58Speaker 1: lot of these changes can be for the good, and
- 1:00Speaker 1: a lot of them are just They just come with time,
- 1:03Speaker 1: you know. Sometimes it's aging that changes us. But no
- 1:07Speaker 1: matter how old you get, you still have the ability
- 1:12Speaker 1: to improve as a person. You may not have the
- 1:16Speaker 1: footspeed you used to have. You may not be as
- 1:20Speaker 1: agile as you used to be. Your energy level may
- 1:25Speaker 1: not be what it used to be. Your desire to
- 1:30Speaker 1: do some of the things that you used to do
- 1:32Speaker 1: may be gone.
- 1:35Speaker 2: The thing that.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Doesn't have to change and will not change is you
- 1:43Speaker 1: you have the ability to continue to grow as a
- 1:48Speaker 1: person even when father time and nature has taken its course.
- 1:57Speaker 1: We were talking about everybody can change and everybody has
- 2:06Speaker 1: uh the right to reinvent themselves as they get older,
- 2:12Speaker 1: and I equated it to jumping out of an airplane.
- 2:17Speaker 1: You know, there are some people man who get to
- 2:20Speaker 1: a certain point in their life and they and they
- 2:23Speaker 1: jump from the airplane. Is now almost a stunt of
- 2:29Speaker 1: some kind. It's almost like they lifed and got out
- 2:32Speaker 1: of control. You ever seen somebody jump out an airplane
- 2:35Speaker 1: and the parachute don't open, and they life start and
- 2:38Speaker 1: it seems like they start spinning and tumbling and they
- 2:40Speaker 1: can't get it together. And I've seen some mid air
- 2:43Speaker 1: rescues before. But then there are times when you know
- 2:47Speaker 1: when it hasn't worked. You know, you jump out that
- 2:50Speaker 1: airplane and at first it's fun. I've never Scott dived before,
- 2:56Speaker 1: but I would imagine when you first jump out of
- 2:59Speaker 1: an airplane that that people describe it as a sense
- 3:02Speaker 1: of being free, and that it's exhilarating when you first
- 3:07Speaker 1: jump out the plane. But if you pull that cord
- 3:10Speaker 1: and nothing happens, it never happened to me, But I
- 3:14Speaker 1: can only imagine the panic that's got to set in
- 3:19Speaker 1: because no matter how fun it was a moment ago,
- 3:23Speaker 1: the flying over to one another, the holding hands in
- 3:26Speaker 1: the air, the breeze, the descent, the feeling of all
- 3:33Speaker 1: of a sudden, if you reach for that cord and
- 3:35Speaker 1: it's not there, you're suddenly spinning out of control. And
- 3:40Speaker 1: that's what happens in a lot of people's lives. When
- 3:43Speaker 1: you first start your life, you jump out the plane,
- 3:46Speaker 1: you free you young, you ain't got nothing to worry about.
- 3:48Speaker 1: The Then you get to a certain point in your
- 3:50Speaker 1: life when you go, okay, I'm.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Gonna pull the cord now.
- 3:55Speaker 1: And pulling the cord is an important thing, because here's
- 3:59Speaker 1: the analogy my friend gave me. He said, man, use
- 4:05Speaker 1: your mind like a parachute. It works better when it's open. Well,
- 4:11Speaker 1: see what happens with a lot of people is they
- 4:14Speaker 1: they in life. They jump out the plane and they
- 4:20Speaker 1: and they having this free fall and it's fun for now.
- 4:24Speaker 1: But they get to a certain point in their life
- 4:26Speaker 1: where they got theirself in a situation, or they've had
- 4:29Speaker 1: a little bit too much fun, a little bit too long,
- 4:32Speaker 1: or you know, they wasn't open to nothing, and they
- 4:35Speaker 1: just did what they wanted to do, or they started
- 4:37Speaker 1: getting involved with drugs or drinking or started running with
- 4:40Speaker 1: the wrong people.
- 4:41Speaker 2: See you jump out the plane.
- 4:42Speaker 1: At first, you're free falling this fun but then after
- 4:45Speaker 1: a minute, man, something happens and they realize whoa and
- 4:48Speaker 1: they reach for the cord, and the chord don't work.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Well.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Now you're in a panic stricken situation. And my suggesting
- 4:55Speaker 1: that what I've learned from the analogy that my friends
- 4:57Speaker 1: shared with me is that we all the sooner we
- 5:01Speaker 1: can open our mind to God, the sooner we could
- 5:04Speaker 1: develop that relationship with him. It's like pulling the chord
- 5:10Speaker 1: and opening a parachute. If you open up.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Your mind to God, God is like a parachute. You know.
- 5:18Speaker 2: God can slow your descent.
- 5:21Speaker 1: God can turn this out of control freefall into a
- 5:26Speaker 1: nice ride for you. See, that's what happened to me.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I was spinning out of control. I had gotten myself
- 5:36Speaker 1: into a point. Man, Why I wasn't doing real good.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Oh y'all would look at me and think, man, stevee man,
- 5:44Speaker 1: Now I wasn't doing real good. I had spun out
- 5:49Speaker 1: of control. I was in a free fall, and I
- 5:53Speaker 1: reached for the chord, but I was so far away
- 5:56Speaker 1: the chord didn't open. Then I went to him and
- 5:59Speaker 1: I pulled the cord. When I went to God, I
- 6:03Speaker 1: pulled the cord and open, and he slowed my descent.
- 6:07Speaker 2: And this is what I just believe. I don't believe.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Now that I age as fast as I was aging,
- 6:13Speaker 1: because I got that parachute open. Now, you know, I
- 6:16Speaker 1: take better care of myself, eating, I work out more.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Now you know I'm not out of control. I have
- 6:22Speaker 1: a direction now that win. Then got up under that
- 6:26Speaker 1: parachute a little bit, you know, And now I'm I'm
- 6:29Speaker 1: going You know, I'm still getting older, you know so,
- 6:32Speaker 1: but the descent is so slow. Now I'm able to
- 6:36Speaker 1: enjoy the ride. I'm guiding my parachute over. Sometimes we
- 6:40Speaker 1: go over to to a vacation spot over here, we
- 6:43Speaker 1: float back over to it. But you know, I'm still
- 6:46Speaker 1: getting old. I'm still going going down. But the descent,
- 6:50Speaker 1: because I've opened my mind to God, the parachute has
- 6:54Speaker 1: slowed my descent. And now I'm rocking back and forth.
- 6:59Speaker 1: But I ain't in and out of control no more.
- 7:01Speaker 1: You know, I'm able to enjoy the view.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Now.
- 7:05Speaker 1: You know, when you jump out that plane and you
- 7:07Speaker 1: pull that cord and it don't work, you ain't looking
- 7:09Speaker 1: at the view no more. You're thinking of only one thing.
- 7:12Speaker 1: How can I slow this down? Well, now I'm able
- 7:14Speaker 1: to enjoy the view. I'm able to see all the
- 7:18Speaker 1: beautiful things on the horizon that God has for me.
- 7:21Speaker 1: I'm able to see all the beautiful things around me
- 7:24Speaker 1: that He's provided for me over these years because I've
- 7:28Speaker 1: slowed my descent. I use my mind like a parachute.
- 7:33Speaker 1: It works better when it's open. Open your mind to
- 7:37Speaker 1: God and so you can see the view, so you
- 7:40Speaker 1: can slow the descent, so you can stop the out
- 7:43Speaker 1: of control free fall that you've been on. That you
- 7:46Speaker 1: can get your life together and see everything out on
- 7:49Speaker 1: the horizon that God has for you. You know, it
- 7:52Speaker 1: turned out to be a very true statement. Your mind,
- 7:55Speaker 1: if you use it like a parachute, it works better
- 7:57Speaker 1: when it's open.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Y'all here, listen Deep Harvey Morning Show
