- 0:11you grow as a coach. This episode is part of the
- 0:13Youth and Beginner Series, brought to you by Coach O.

- 0:49younger to now my professional endeavors as an adult.
- 0:52They're always super supportive and I love them very much.

- 1:10there, of course, all the track and field coaches on all levels,
- 1:13middle school, high school, college, professional and
- 1:16everything in between. What you do, the impact, the
- 1:19positive impact that you make on young people today is absolutely
- 1:23immeasurable. And for that I am eternally,
- 1:26eternally grateful. And so are they, by the way.
- 1:29So appreciate everything you do for our young people in this
- 1:31amazing sport. Thank you all for being back and
- 1:34field coaches, happy Thanksgiving.

- 1:54Meeting Coach O and allowing him to help me realize my potential
- 1:59in the track and field industry. I was able to retire early from
- 2:03the state of Ohio and start living my best life.
- 2:08I pray that everyone has a happy Thanksgiving and remember that
- 2:12the next person you meet could change the course of your life,
- 2:16so be kind. Hi, my name is Coach Jamal.
- 2:21I am a speed and performance coach at PAP Sports.
- 2:25This Thanksgiving, I just wanted to say thank you to Coach Mike
- 2:27and my grandma. For Coach Mike, I just wanted to
- 2:30say thank you for impacting my life in ways you probably don't
- 2:33even realize. Giving me a chance at PAP Sports
- 2:35to work with you in Greenville. It's been nothing but a
- 2:38blessing, you know, having all these athletes come and go and,
- 2:42you know, learning the insurance and outs of speed and
- 2:45performance, even to the degree that I didn't even think I knew.
- 2:48So my grandma, I just want to say thank you so much and that I
- 2:50love you for always being there for me, always being a shoulder
- 2:53to lean on and always be in my rock for holding it down
- 2:57whenever I needed something or needed anything, even if it was
- 3:00just a ear to listen to. I just wanted to say at the end
- 3:05of happy Thanksgiving to everybody, hope you guys are
- 3:08having a great day and bye bye. Hi, I'm Shannon Robbery, three
- 3:14time Olympian and bronze medalist in track and field and
- 3:18this Thanksgiving I want to give extra love and gratitude to my
- 3:23husband. Taylor Swift put it perfectly.

- 3:31found that in you. Pablo, I love you and happy
- 3:35Thanksgiving and happy Thanksgiving to everybody tuning
- 3:38in. Hi, I'm David Boyd of the
- 3:42Columbus Sports Council. This Thanksgiving, I want to say
- 3:44thank you to the man himself, Coach O Coach O has touched so
- 3:49many people's lives, so many athletes over the years.
- 3:53We were special to have had him in the early 80s at Columbus
- 3:56High School. He touched so many kids lives
- 3:58there. But for me, I appreciate and I'm
- 4:02so thankful and so blessed for the friendship we've had over
- 4:05all these years. I always look forward, Coach,
- 4:07that when we get together, share words of wisdom and just those
- 4:12moments that become memories. Thank you coach.
- 4:15I can't thank you enough for what all you've done for me and
- 4:17done for so many other people. I really hope you have a great
- 4:21Thanksgiving and know how much you're appreciated and know how
- 4:24much the Blue Devil family loves you and we always love to see
- 4:27you. Thanks Coach again, happy
- 4:29Thanksgiving to the man. Hi, I'm Katie Follett of
- 4:34Elevated Performance. And this Thanksgiving I want to
- 4:37say thank you to coaches who have asked me really good
- 4:39questions because I think of it like the rudder of a ship.
- 4:44If you adjust it a degree or two, it really changes where you
- 4:47end up. And those good questions changed
- 4:51the trajectory of my career in running and in life.
- 4:54And one coach who did this just so, so much for me was Coach Dan
- 4:59Path. And so I especially want to give
- 5:01him a shout out and say thank you to him.
- 5:04Hi, I'm Dave Amiot, head track and field coach and Co athletic
- 5:08director at East Kentwood High School in Michigan.
- 5:10This Thanksgiving I want to express my gratitude to coach
- 5:13all for everything he has done, not just for our sport, but for
- 5:17the kids who compete in it. His dedication, his energy and
- 5:20his passion have lifted up athletes and coaches all across
- 5:23the country and has been inspiring part of the that
- 5:26community. I also want to say thank you to
- 5:29David Mitchell, an incredible ambassador who continues to pour

- 6:00None of this work would be possible without their love and
- 6:04support. To everyone listening, I hope
- 6:07you're able to take a moment this week and think about the
- 6:10people who helped you grow, who believed in you, and who made
- 6:14you who you are today. Gratitude is powerful.
- 6:18Take a moment and send a message to the to those coaches that
- 6:21you've had and those fellow athletes that you've had over
- 6:24the years, just to say thank you for all that they've put into
- 6:27your life so that now you can put it into others.

- 6:57Janet recently passed away from a years long battle with cancer.
- 7:02I was fortunate enough over the last 10 years to not only become
- 7:06a friend of Janet, but also appear Janet has touched many
- 7:13athletes in her and spent her life's passion devoted to

- 10:39Hello everybody. This is David Mitchell, Track
- 10:41and field Announcer and Director of Client Relations for Coach O
- 10:44here to give some thanks and some gratitude today for people
- 10:47who helped me along the way as I got to get the greatest job in
- 10:50the world that as a track and field coach.
- 10:53First, my grandfather who taught me how to play P Knuckle and
- 10:56other card games taught me multi level strategy and perseverance
- 11:00even when I wasn't playing so well.
- 11:03To my middle school track coaches who had me and the other
- 11:06team captains over my 8th grade year to actually help them set
- 11:10the lineup for our first meet. Had a large team and they wanted
- 11:13our input and let me tell you, I've been hooked on setting
- 11:16lineups and doing things like that ever since.
- 11:19It was a great experience. Maybe you could do that with
- 11:22some of your athletes. To my high school cross country
- 11:25coach who spoke life over me and said things to me like someday
- 11:28down the line when you're coaching this team, I bet you're
- 11:30going to do something like that. Or ask me, what will you do
- 11:34someday when you're coaching this team?
- 11:36And then also my high school track coach who helped me get
- 11:41started with the middle school assistant position and then went
- 11:45out and advocated for me so that I could get my first varsity
- 11:48head coach job the very next year to coach his son and
- 11:51eventually coach another of his younger sons.
- 11:54So I've been very blessed to have people pour into me in my
- 11:58walk along the way, and I am grateful for their their input
- 12:03into my life. I wouldn't be able to do things
- 12:06like I've done in my post coaching career like I have now,
- 12:09including the blessing of being part of this podcast with all of
- 12:13you. Thank you for listening in today
- 12:16for the gratitude messages that we've had.
- 12:18Thank you for listening in to the other episodes.
- 12:20You can go back and check them out.
