- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:05Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:08Speaker 1: Sophie Torber and coming up on today's show, Georgia Love
- 0:12Speaker 1: calls emergency services over her lost phone, Meghan Markle's controversial
- 0:17Speaker 1: rebrand and our.
- 0:18Speaker 2: New Friday debrief.
- 0:21Speaker 1: But first, I don't mean to brag, but in the
- 0:23Speaker 1: space of a week, another one of our 2025 predictions
- 0:26Speaker 1: has already come true. I actually gasped when I saw
- 0:29Speaker 1: this and I sent it directly to you, Amy, because
- 0:31Speaker 1: I want to give you props.
- 0:32Speaker 2: You came up with this one.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Yeah. So Queensland-based influencer Sophie Jane Miller has followed in
- 0:38Speaker 1: the footsteps of Cartier Milan and Ashton Wood and launched,
- 0:41Speaker 1: as we predicted, her own matcha powder called Matcha Lane.
- 0:45Speaker 1: And I'm going to say, I pulled that prediction out
- 0:47Speaker 1: of my absolute ass. There have been no signs other
- 0:50Speaker 1: than the fact that Sophie Jane Miller loves matcha that
- 0:52Speaker 1: she would actually start her own business. Well, she has
- 0:54Speaker 1: made matcha her own personal brand. She makes it always
- 0:56Speaker 1: on a YouTube channel. She's always visiting a local cafe
- 0:59Speaker 1: in Queensland where they serve up her favorite matcha. Yeah,
- 1:02Speaker 1: O'Bagel in Queensland must be really kicking themselves if Sophie's
- 1:06Speaker 1: not going to be visiting there every day. Well, she
- 1:08Speaker 1: and her influencer bestie, Georgia Richards, have even named a
- 1:10Speaker 1: YouTube series Matcha Therapy. So it's clear that she loves matcha.
- 1:15Speaker 1: And the strategy behind her announcement was quite interesting because
- 1:18Speaker 1: most influencers, if they're starting a new business, they would
- 1:21Speaker 1: do an announcement post saying, this is my startup. This
- 1:25Speaker 1: is how I've done it. But she simply shared an
- 1:28Speaker 1: instructional video showing how she makes her morning matcha. She
- 1:31Speaker 1: didn't even specify that the powder she was using was
- 1:34Speaker 1: her own. She simply wrote in the caption, how I
- 1:37Speaker 1: make the most delicious ice matcha and tagged the new brand.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Let's throw to the reel. to make the.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Most perfect iced matcha ade. By far the most important
- 1:50Speaker 3: part is that you have a high quality matcha powder.
- 1:51Speaker 3: This one is a ceremonial grade. I usually do about
- 1:54Speaker 3: three-ish scoops, depending how strong I.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Wanna make it.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't even realize it was her own brand.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I only showed interest in the post because Amy, you
- 2:02Speaker 1: had made that prediction and I was like, oh, she's
- 2:04Speaker 1: teamed up with another company.
- 2:05Speaker 2: And then when I clicked on it, I was like, what?
- 2:07Speaker 1: I actually think this is really clever marketing because I
- 2:10Speaker 1: think a lot of people would actually switch off if
- 2:12Speaker 1: they saw some video of her announcing, oh.
- 2:14Speaker 2: This is my matcher.
- 2:16Speaker 1: But a lot of people must organically be asking her, hey,
- 2:20Speaker 1: where do you actually get your matcher from? And by
- 2:22Speaker 1: sharing this instructional video, it's a really clever way to
- 2:24Speaker 1: be like, Well, this is the one I use and
- 2:27Speaker 1: it just so happens to be my brand. Yeah, it's
- 2:29Speaker 1: so true. It sort of reminds me of when Talia
- 2:32Speaker 1: Skanes used to spruik Third Fix's drink bottle and I
- 2:35Speaker 1: never knew that it was her boyfriend, Mitch Third's brand.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I thought, wow, that drink bottle is really cool. She
- 2:40Speaker 1: must genuinely love it. She's always got it. And that's
- 2:42Speaker 1: how it comes across with this matcha post. You're like,
- 2:45Speaker 1: this must be the matcha that she has been using
- 2:48Speaker 1: all the time in her YouTube videos. But it just
- 2:50Speaker 1: turns out, no, it's one that she is spruiking. Yeah, well,
- 2:52Speaker 1: all of Sophie's influencer besties were quick to congratulate her
- 2:56Speaker 1: in the comments section. So Georgia Richards wrote, yes, she
- 2:59Speaker 1: has officially arrived. While Rachel Catherine wrote, matcha lane might
- 3:02Speaker 1: just convert me into a matcha drinker. Whilst her manager
- 3:05Speaker 1: Lang from Posey Creative wrote, so.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Proud of you.
- 3:08Speaker 1: It's quite interesting because a few months ago, we discussed
- 3:11Speaker 1: how Cartier Milan and also Ashton Woods matcha brand, shut down.
- 3:16Speaker 1: And it's still unclear if this was because sales were down,
- 3:19Speaker 1: because this has become a very oversaturated market. See, I
- 3:22Speaker 1: thought it was obviously down to their friendship bust up
- 3:25Speaker 1: because they only had just launched the brand. But if
- 3:27Speaker 1: this brand was successful, would they then not go and
- 3:30Speaker 1: on-sell it onto someone else and say, oh, we've got
- 3:32Speaker 1: this client base, it's worth this much money. It was
- 3:35Speaker 1: easier to just shut it down. Yeah.
- 3:37Speaker 2: And it had only just started.
- 3:38Speaker 1: So they couldn't really go to another company and say, oh,
- 3:40Speaker 1: here's the projections of how much this is going to earn, blah, blah, blah.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I've also noticed in recent times, there's been a lot
- 3:46Speaker 1: of debate around the ethics of white people profiting off
- 3:49Speaker 1: selling a traditional Japanese drink like matcha. So far, the
- 3:52Speaker 1: reaction though, has been pretty good. Her very loyal follower
- 3:56Speaker 1: base seem very excited that she's brought out her own brand.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I think because it aligns with her because she's always
- 4:02Speaker 1: talking about Matcha. Her Instagram account so far has 1600 followers.
- 4:07Speaker 1: And when you have a look at the website, it's
- 4:08Speaker 1: quite interesting because you discover that she is running this
- 4:11Speaker 1: business alongside her dad, Cam, who seems to be quite
- 4:14Speaker 1: a successful businessman. Now on the new brand's website, it says,
- 4:19Speaker 1: The father and daughter duo share a love for matcha
- 4:21Speaker 1: and after about a year of trying to find the
- 4:23Speaker 1: best tasting matcha here in Australia, they came up short
- 4:27Speaker 1: and decided to go straight to the source and bring
- 4:29Speaker 1: the good stuff here. When I read on their website
- 4:31Speaker 1: that they have sources matcha from Japan, I initially thought, well,
- 4:34Speaker 1: that's fantastic that they're actually supporting Japanese manufacturing of matcha.
- 4:39Speaker 1: But then I also thought, is that the time that
- 4:41Speaker 1: Sophie recently went to Japan? Because Just last month she
- 4:45Speaker 1: was in Japan for a Jetstar influencer trip. Yeah, well,
- 4:48Speaker 1: surely that would have been a bit too much of
- 4:50Speaker 1: a quick turnaround. It didn't seem like they had much
- 4:52Speaker 1: of an opportunity because on the website it says that
- 4:55Speaker 1: they visited farms in Japan to source the best matcha. Well,
- 4:59Speaker 1: it must be her dad doing it then because we've
- 5:01Speaker 1: only seen on Sophie's vlogs last year, her going to
- 5:05Speaker 1: Japan once. Well, that being said, this could have been
- 5:07Speaker 1: a very quick turnaround because unfortunately there appears to be
- 5:10Speaker 1: a spelling error on the packaging. So instead of saying
- 5:13Speaker 1: how to make, it says hot to make. And I
- 5:16Speaker 1: felt bad for her because when you're, you've got a
- 5:18Speaker 1: startup business, you want everything to be perfect. So maybe
- 5:21Speaker 1: they just wanted to get it out there with the
- 5:23Speaker 1: start of the new year. You've got to laugh, don't you?
- 5:26Speaker 1: Just put a little sticker over the top or something.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I was quite surprised to see how expensive this matcha
- 5:31Speaker 1: actually is. So $ 35 for a 30 gram bag. Yeah.
- 5:35Speaker 1: When you compare it to other brands like Tropica who
- 5:38Speaker 1: sells matcha tea for $ 29, you get 200 grams. It
- 5:42Speaker 1: is slightly different because that is matcha tea. I know
- 5:44Speaker 1: that Sophie is selling a ceremonial grade matcha, which I
- 5:48Speaker 1: think is a little bit more expensive, but I had
- 5:50Speaker 1: another look at a brand who sells ceremonial grade leaves
- 5:53Speaker 1: and they sell a 50 gram bag for $ 18. So
- 5:57Speaker 1: Hers is quite costly. I think you're paying for the
- 5:59Speaker 1: fact that it's got her name and branding on it. Well,
- 6:02Speaker 1: a lot of people are buying it because she put
- 6:04Speaker 1: up an Instagram story and her ticket machine for sales
- 6:07Speaker 1: was just going off. Can I say, Amy, though, I
- 6:10Speaker 1: think that your prediction was slightly wrong because weren't you
- 6:12Speaker 1: predicting that she would bring out a matcha tea with
- 6:15Speaker 1: Georgie Stevenson's brand, Naked Harvest. No, I think I predicted
- 6:19Speaker 1: that she'd bring out her own line and Kate, you
- 6:21Speaker 1: suggested perhaps Naked Harvest because her friend, Georgia Richards, of course,
- 6:24Speaker 1: had her brand with Naked Harvest. I wonder if she
- 6:26Speaker 1: spoke to her manager and they both worked out that
- 6:28Speaker 1: she could be making far more money. by launching her
- 6:32Speaker 1: own matcha brand than doing it with Naked Harvest, looking
- 6:34Speaker 1: at maybe the figures that Georgia Richards got.
- 6:36Speaker 2: This isn't her first business though.
- 6:38Speaker 1: So she started out selling an e-book and that was
- 6:41Speaker 1: really successful. And then she's also had her own drink
- 6:44Speaker 1: bottle company and done a few other things. So Maybe
- 6:47Speaker 1: this is going to be the one that really takes
- 6:49Speaker 1: off for her. The timing of the release, I think,
- 6:51Speaker 1: is really good being the new year. People are wanting
- 6:53Speaker 1: to jump on to new year, new me. I want
- 6:56Speaker 1: to become like a matcha girly. The only thing I
- 6:58Speaker 1: find interesting is there's been no mention of her cookbook,
- 7:00Speaker 1: which she was heavily promoting last year, that she was
- 7:03Speaker 1: taking photos for it. Oh, she did say there had
- 7:07Speaker 1: been a bit of a halt in production. I think
- 7:09Speaker 1: something with the printer. I'm also surprised that she didn't
- 7:12Speaker 1: launch a YouTube video in conjunction with the launch of
- 7:15Speaker 1: her new brand to coincide. Yet. Well, we're yet to
- 7:17Speaker 1: see a YouTube video from Sophie for this year. I
- 7:21Speaker 1: think she's going to launch with the news of the
- 7:23Speaker 1: Matcha brand. See, I just think it will be integrated
- 7:25Speaker 1: into one of her weekly vlogs. I think that she's
- 7:27Speaker 1: really trying to make it feel organic and not a
- 7:29Speaker 1: hard sale.
- 7:31Speaker 3: You'll often hear people say, well, you're helping women find
- 7:34Speaker 3: their voices. And I fundamentally disagree with that because women
- 7:37Speaker 3: don't need to find a voice. They have a voice.
- 7:40Speaker 3: They need to feel empowered to use it. And people
- 7:42Speaker 3: need to be encouraged to listen.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Meghan Markle has marked 2025 as the year of her comeback.
- 7:48Speaker 1: After a five-year social media hiatus, the Duchess of Sussex
- 7:52Speaker 1: returned to Instagram on New Year's Day with a bang,
- 7:55Speaker 1: unveiling her plans to get back to her lifestyle blogging roots. Yes,
- 7:59Speaker 1: and this social media return has been years in the making.
- 8:02Speaker 1: So she was set to make a comeback in 2022
- 8:05Speaker 1: to coincide with the launch of her podcast, Archetypes. And
- 8:09Speaker 1: she went as far as securing the handle at Megan.
- 8:12Speaker 1: And in an interview with The Cut, she said that
- 8:14Speaker 1: she was getting back on Instagram. Is that because she
- 8:17Speaker 1: was just like, just share? You know what I mean?
- 8:18Speaker 1: Like just Megan, we'll drop the. Meghan Markle, despite the
- 8:21Speaker 1: fact that she is keeping the Duchess of Sussex in
- 8:24Speaker 1: her title. Yeah, I suppose it's an awkward one because
- 8:26Speaker 1: everyone knows her as Meghan Markle, but since getting.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Married, she kind of doesn't have a last name.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Can you imagine Meghan Trainor? She's like, fuck me, I'm
- 8:33Speaker 1: also Meghan and I'm famous. Yeah, I want to know
- 8:35Speaker 1: who she bought the handle off as well because she
- 8:37Speaker 1: clearly had to acquire it somehow. Now, despite being ready
- 8:40Speaker 1: to launch the account, She decided last minute that she
- 8:43Speaker 1: wasn't going to and it sat dormant for the last
- 8:45Speaker 1: couple of years. Now that all changed on New Year's Day.
- 8:48Speaker 1: So the account's profile picture of a pink flower suddenly
- 8:51Speaker 1: changed to a black.
- 8:52Speaker 2: And white picture of Meghan.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Yeah, wasn't there a lot of mystery surrounding that Instagram account?
- 8:57Speaker 1: Because people saw the Meghan account pop up, but no
- 9:00Speaker 1: one knew if it was actually Meghan Markle because she
- 9:02Speaker 1: did put up that strange display picture. Yeah, well, she
- 9:05Speaker 1: had dropped a lot of clues, as I was saying before,
- 9:07Speaker 1: that she was launching this account. then the account at
- 9:10Speaker 1: Megan popped up. But yeah, it did have this strange
- 9:13Speaker 1: profile picture. I'm super confused because I went to follow
- 9:15Speaker 1: it at the time when there was a lot of
- 9:17Speaker 1: speculation or is this Megan? But I had to re-follow
- 9:20Speaker 1: come New Year's Day. So I don't know what happened there.
- 9:22Speaker 1: The account did have 100,000 followers when it wasn't confirmed
- 9:25Speaker 1: to be hers. And then at the time of recording,
- 9:28Speaker 1: it's got 1.3 million. So obviously the word got out
- 9:32Speaker 1: there that this was the real Megan. So On New
- 9:34Speaker 1: Year's Day, she uploaded a video of her frolicking on
- 9:38Speaker 1: the beach and she wrote 2025 in the sand. Now,
- 9:41Speaker 1: word has it that Prince Harry actually filmed the video.
- 9:44Speaker 1: He did a good job, but it kind of looked
- 9:48Speaker 1: like one of those videos in a crime show that
- 9:50Speaker 1: depicts the wife who's been murdered.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Yes, it did remind me of that. I love her.
- 9:55Speaker 1: And for some reason, I couldn't help but cringe really
- 9:58Speaker 1: hard at that video.
- 9:59Speaker 2: It just seemed a bit trite.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Well, someone said it was giving Pinterest 2012 vibes. And
- 10:03Speaker 1: to be fair, Megan has been off social media for
- 10:06Speaker 1: a long time. So she actually deactivated her personal Instagram
- 10:10Speaker 1: account seven years ago when she got engaged to Prince Harry.
- 10:14Speaker 1: They did have their Sussex Royal account, but Again, that's
- 10:18Speaker 1: laid dormant for the last five years when they left
- 10:20Speaker 1: the royal family. I'm actually surprised that Meghan hasn't got
- 10:22Speaker 1: more followers because if you compare her number of followers
- 10:26Speaker 1: to Kate and Will's, they've got 16.8 million. Yeah, but
- 10:30Speaker 1: they've had like 15 years to build it. She's had
- 10:33Speaker 1: it for a couple of days now. I don't know
- 10:34Speaker 1: if they've had their account for 15. Oh, actually, they
- 10:36Speaker 1: probably have considering how long they've been married. Yeah, I mean,
- 10:38Speaker 1: a million is pretty good for only a week into
- 10:40Speaker 1: the new year. I think that it's going to grow
- 10:43Speaker 1: and grow from there. One thing that stood out to
- 10:45Speaker 1: me was this comeback video wasn't actually specifically shot for Instagram.
- 10:49Speaker 1: It was shot in a landscape mode, so it didn't
- 10:51Speaker 1: really suit reels. Yeah, that's one thing I can't stand
- 10:54Speaker 1: when people do post those landscape videos. You're like, fuck,
- 10:57Speaker 1: it looks so much better as a reel. I mean,
- 10:59Speaker 1: it didn't stop the traction because it did get 8
- 11:02Speaker 1: million views. Now, the real reason for Megan's social media
- 11:05Speaker 1: return became apparent the following day, and this is when
- 11:09Speaker 1: she dropped the trailer for her new Netflix lifestyle show
- 11:12Speaker 1: called With Love, Megan. And this is going to start
- 11:15Speaker 1: airing on the 16th of January, a day before Molly
- 11:19Speaker 1: May's documentary set to air on Prime. Yes, I am
- 11:22Speaker 1: so excited to watch both of these. So the teaser
- 11:25Speaker 1: was set to the song Do You Believe in Magic?
- 11:28Speaker 1: And it showed Megan in the kitchen decorating cakes, making focaccia,
- 11:33Speaker 1: arranging flowers and even collecting honey in a beekeeper suit.
- 11:36Speaker 1: It was really giving David Beckham vibes from his doco. Yeah.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Here's a little taste of the promo. Let's go.
- 11:46Speaker 3: I've always loved taking something pretty ordinary and elevating it.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Surprising people with moments that let them know I was
- 11:55Speaker 3: really thinking of them.
- 11:58Speaker 1: What?
- 11:58Speaker 2: This is probably one of the most glamorous moments of
- 12:01Speaker 2: my life.
- 12:02Speaker 3: I'm going to share some little tips and tricks. I
- 12:07Speaker 3: see what color I gravitate to, and everything goes from there.
- 12:11Speaker 3: And how you can incorporate these practices every day. That's
- 12:15Speaker 3: what you want. You want that shape and texture. This
- 12:21Speaker 3: is about connecting with friends. I love that we're doing
- 12:25Speaker 3: this together for the first time. Making new friends.
- 12:29Speaker 2: That is so good.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Now, I seem to be in the minority because I
- 12:32Speaker 1: got really excited when I saw the trailer. Megan was
- 12:36Speaker 1: really reminding me a lot of Nigella Lawson and this
- 12:39Speaker 1: type of show is something that I would really enjoy watching.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I was one of the people who was excited too,
- 12:44Speaker 1: but that's because I am a Megan fan. The only
- 12:46Speaker 1: thing that disappointed me a little bit was the appearance
- 12:49Speaker 1: of all of these celebrities because I knew instantly that
- 12:52Speaker 1: that was going to cop criticism from people. People were
- 12:55Speaker 1: going to act like this is quite an elitist program.
- 12:57Speaker 1: It just reminded me of her podcast because her podcast Archetype,
- 13:02Speaker 1: she invited all of her A-list superstar friends on to
- 13:06Speaker 1: talk about issues that apparently related to the common person
- 13:10Speaker 1: and people didn't find it relatable. People found it a
- 13:13Speaker 1: bit puke-worthy. Again, I am a Megan fan. But the
- 13:16Speaker 1: only thing is everything she does, it just seems so American. Well,
- 13:21Speaker 1: she is American. I get that she's American, but I
- 13:24Speaker 1: think that that's what the British don't like about her. Well,
- 13:27Speaker 1: their critics were quick to slam Meghan's show. So it
- 13:30Speaker 1: was labelled dull. She was labelled entitled, tone deaf and
- 13:33Speaker 1: tasteless in the midst of a cost of living crisis.
- 13:37Speaker 1: That seems to be something that everyone's sort of the go-to,
- 13:40Speaker 1: isn't it? It's like, how disgusting. It's a cost of
- 13:42Speaker 1: living crisis and there she is making cakes for her
- 13:45Speaker 1: celebrity friends.
- 13:45Speaker 2: I mean, I think that's a bit of a shit reaction.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Yeah, well, Meghan McCain, who is the daughter of former
- 13:51Speaker 1: Republican Senator John McCain, she shared an absolutely scathing response
- 13:56Speaker 1: to the trailer on X. So she wrote, there have
- 13:58Speaker 1: been two terror attacks in two days, major wars raging
- 14:02Speaker 1: and Americans can't pay for groceries. We are a country
- 14:05Speaker 1: in rage, uncertainty and intensity right now. This is why
- 14:08Speaker 1: the world doesn't like you. Nothing else.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Just completely and utterly tone deaf to the moment.
- 14:13Speaker 1: But don't we want to escape all of that by
- 14:16Speaker 1: watching a charming show of someone cooking up a storm
- 14:19Speaker 1: in the kitchen and using flowers to sprinkle over their cereal?
- 14:22Speaker 1: Like this is escapism at its best. I just think
- 14:25Speaker 1: it's sad that this woman who has been so heavily
- 14:27Speaker 1: criticized and I think unfairly criticized by the media and
- 14:31Speaker 1: by the public, all she does is release a feel-good
- 14:34Speaker 1: cooking show. They've probably done it strategically because they've thought, well,
- 14:38Speaker 1: we can't really have Megan talking about women's rights. We
- 14:40Speaker 1: can't have this because this is going to piss people off.
- 14:42Speaker 1: They've literally just released a feel-good show and everyone's like,
- 14:45Speaker 1: fuck you, you asshole. Well, it comes off the back
- 14:47Speaker 1: of Harry releasing a documentary show about polo, which they
- 14:52Speaker 1: were trying to go for the vibe of Survive to
- 14:54Speaker 1: Drive or F1 or whatever those racing shows are called.
- 14:57Speaker 1: And it really missed the mark. People said that this
- 14:59Speaker 1: show was boring. There was a lot of orchestrated drama.
- 15:04Speaker 1: he didn't appear in it, which I think he popped
- 15:07Speaker 1: up once, but he wasn't a character in it. And
- 15:09Speaker 1: there was a lot of speculation and questions around, well,
- 15:12Speaker 1: can they sell something that they're not in? In this case,
- 15:14Speaker 1: she is in this. And I think that it is
- 15:17Speaker 1: a case of tall poppy syndrome. People want to drag
- 15:19Speaker 1: her down. There were never going to be rave reviews
- 15:22Speaker 1: about this show. And I think that Megan's PR team
- 15:24Speaker 1: would know this. And they're hoping that everyone comes in
- 15:27Speaker 1: with such low expectations that when the show comes out,
- 15:30Speaker 1: everyone's like, actually wasn't too bad.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Well, this is the thing.
- 15:33Speaker 1: And I think a lot of these commentators are actually
- 15:35Speaker 1: showing how out of date they are because there was
- 15:38Speaker 1: a lot of conversation around the fact that they can't
- 15:41Speaker 1: believe that Megan has gone through so much and then
- 15:43Speaker 1: wants to relaunch herself as an influencer. I mean, ever
- 15:46Speaker 1: since Megan found fame on Suits, she has been interested
- 15:49Speaker 1: in being an influencer.
- 15:51Speaker 2: In the lifestyle space.
- 15:52Speaker 1: She had a lifestyle vlog called The Tig, and she
- 15:54Speaker 1: also posted heaps of aspirational.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Photos on Instagram. This is very Meghan.
- 15:59Speaker 1: And I think this shows the snobbery around the role
- 16:02Speaker 1: of an influencer and also people not understanding the role
- 16:05Speaker 1: of an influencer. You don't have to be universally liked
- 16:08Speaker 1: to be an influencer. But it's also very clever because
- 16:10Speaker 1: in 2024, we saw this rise of trad wives and
- 16:14Speaker 1: influencers like Nara Smith making cooking look very glamorous and
- 16:18Speaker 1: an activity that a lot of women wanted to do.
- 16:21Speaker 1: We were talking about in our subs episode, how On TikTok,
- 16:24Speaker 1: dinner parties are all the craze. People want to have
- 16:26Speaker 1: a beautiful home to welcome people into. They want to
- 16:29Speaker 1: be making their own food. They want to be growing
- 16:31Speaker 1: their own produce. It's really been glamorized. When you talk
- 16:34Speaker 1: about influencers, I more think of Megan as being like
- 16:38Speaker 1: a Martha Stewart, like a new Martha Stewart. And she
- 16:41Speaker 1: was touted as one of the first influencers, especially in
- 16:45Speaker 1: American culture. It's kind of like she doesn't want to
- 16:47Speaker 1: be some tacky influencer who's spruiking teeth whitening, but she
- 16:51Speaker 1: wants to be a big symbol for people out there.
- 16:54Speaker 1: And that's why I think people just look at the
- 16:56Speaker 1: term influencer and they underrate it. They don't understand how
- 17:00Speaker 1: powerful the influencer industry is. And it's just this lack
- 17:03Speaker 1: of understanding about this modern marketing tactic, particularly when you
- 17:07Speaker 1: think about hate following.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Because people are saying no one is going to watch
- 17:11Speaker 2: this show. It's terrible.
- 17:12Speaker 1: And the numbers really speak for themselves because the trailer's
- 17:14Speaker 1: been viewed over 6 million times on Megan's Instagram and
- 17:17Speaker 1: a million on YouTube. And to be successful as an influencer,
- 17:21Speaker 1: you only need a portion of your audience.
- 17:24Speaker 2: To actually like you.
- 17:25Speaker 1: And considering she's already got 1.2 million followers on Instagram,
- 17:28Speaker 1: there's going to be enough people to buy products from her.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Going back to this point about how Meghan Markle apparently
- 17:35Speaker 1: wants to be an influencer, I reject that. She wants
- 17:37Speaker 1: to be a celebrity. She wants to be a cult-like
- 17:40Speaker 1: celebrity like Oprah. She doesn't want to sit spruiking cheap,
- 17:44Speaker 1: tacky products like teeth whitening. She wants to have celebrity status.
- 17:47Speaker 1: And I also think the reason she doesn't want to
- 17:49Speaker 1: be an influencer is because most influencers actually have to
- 17:52Speaker 1: open up about their private life. Yes, they aired a
- 17:54Speaker 1: lot of their dirty laundry about the royal family, but
- 17:58Speaker 1: she doesn't want to go into her marriage struggles or
- 18:00Speaker 1: her friendship breakdowns. I mean, at the moment, there is
- 18:03Speaker 1: a lot of speculation and rumors that she and Harry
- 18:07Speaker 1: are supposedly divorced and not together, which is why there
- 18:10Speaker 1: are a lot of eyeballs on this teaser because people
- 18:13Speaker 1: are like, is Prince Harry going to be in it?
- 18:15Speaker 1: He wasn't in there for a few seconds, but he
- 18:17Speaker 1: wasn't a main role in this. Sophie, what you are
- 18:20Speaker 1: overlooking the fact is she already is a celebrity, but
- 18:22Speaker 1: in terms of becoming an influencer, she has a brand
- 18:26Speaker 1: now that she wants to influence people to buy. And
- 18:28Speaker 1: isn't that a business person? What, just because she's literally
- 18:31Speaker 1: smart enough to utilize social media, suddenly she's an influencer.
- 18:35Speaker 1: I don't think you can say that everyone who is
- 18:38Speaker 1: on Instagram and chooses to have an Instagram account is
- 18:41Speaker 1: an influencer. But you're not looking at it from a
- 18:43Speaker 1: marketing perspective. But how is she an influencer? Like, yeah, she's,
- 18:47Speaker 1: I mean, celebrities influence people if you're going to use
- 18:49Speaker 1: the word influence, but I don't think that she is
- 18:51Speaker 1: an influencer in the right of people spruiking crappy brand.
- 18:56Speaker 1: I do find the timing of Megan's new venture very
- 18:58Speaker 1: interesting because she did have a relatively quiet year in 2024.
- 19:02Speaker 1: She did soft launch her new brand, American Riviera Orchard,
- 19:05Speaker 1: but it was pretty low key. To refresh your memory,
- 19:08Speaker 1: she sent her famous friends some jam that she made
- 19:11Speaker 1: And we're still in the dark about what else her
- 19:13Speaker 1: brand will actually sell. It is now obvious that she's
- 19:16Speaker 1: been waiting for the Netflix show to drop to start
- 19:18Speaker 1: selling products in tandem. But it's strange to me that
- 19:21Speaker 1: she launched the brand 10 months before the Netflix show.
- 19:25Speaker 1: I wonder why they didn't hold off doing it all
- 19:27Speaker 1: at once. There are rumors that she is struggling to
- 19:30Speaker 1: actually secure.
- 19:31Speaker 2: A trademark for the brand. So that might have something
- 19:34Speaker 2: to do with it.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Do you think it could have just been a red
- 19:36Speaker 1: herring and she's not actually releasing this brand? It was
- 19:38Speaker 1: sort of like, almost to garner attention. It's like, why
- 19:41Speaker 1: is she selling jam?
- 19:42Speaker 2: And now it all makes sense.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Well, I think of course that she's selling stuff because
- 19:44Speaker 1: the brand literally relates so perfectly to the lifestyle show.
- 19:48Speaker 1: One thing that's very clear is that Harry and Meghan's
- 19:50Speaker 1: PR strategy has drastically changed. So since leaving the royal family,
- 19:54Speaker 1: they were very much on the attack and they did
- 19:57Speaker 1: try to position themselves as the victims, even though I
- 19:59Speaker 1: do think they were the victims in that case. But
- 20:02Speaker 1: it really ended up having a negative impact on their
- 20:04Speaker 1: own profiles. And over the last year or so, you'll
- 20:07Speaker 1: notice that Harry and Meghan are working on very separate projects.
- 20:11Speaker 1: And as you touched upon, Sophie, that has led to
- 20:13Speaker 1: rumours of a separation. But they're doing it very strategically
- 20:17Speaker 1: because people don't like them as a couple. So they're
- 20:20Speaker 1: having to rebrand as individuals. And I do think this
- 20:22Speaker 1: is going to be a very positive move for Meghan.
- 20:24Speaker 1: I mean, it's clearly a strategic approach from the PR
- 20:27Speaker 1: team because they've wanted to distance Meghan from all of
- 20:30Speaker 1: the royal drama. They wanted to seem as if this
- 20:32Speaker 1: is an issue that Harry has with his family. And
- 20:35Speaker 1: she has stayed relatively quiet for the last two years.
- 20:39Speaker 1: And that's why it's so interesting to see this is
- 20:41Speaker 1: what they have launched with this lifestyle program. I think
- 20:44Speaker 1: that Megan is no longer wanting to wade into drama.
- 20:47Speaker 1: She just wants to be seen in a different, more
- 20:50Speaker 1: positive light. I don't think that this is going to
- 20:52Speaker 1: be the success, perhaps, Kate, that you think it will be.
- 20:55Speaker 1: I think that, unfortunately, I don't have faith in humanity.
- 20:59Speaker 1: And I think that this is going to become a
- 21:01Speaker 1: show that is very meme-ified and Kate out online. I
- 21:05Speaker 1: think that because she has the inclusion of her celebrity
- 21:08Speaker 1: friends who seem to be quite out of touch with
- 21:10Speaker 1: the world, that it isn't going to bode well for
- 21:12Speaker 1: her character, particularly after the past year that Kate Middleton
- 21:17Speaker 1: has had. These women are constantly pitted against each other.
- 21:19Speaker 1: But that's why it doesn't- She's come up with this
- 21:26Speaker 1: show that's about her and her cooking. But the thing
- 21:28Speaker 1: is she doesn't actually have to be universally liked. They've
- 21:31Speaker 1: decided that she is going to relaunch herself as a
- 21:34Speaker 1: lifestyle influencer and they are promoting that show to a
- 21:37Speaker 1: particular demographic who will like it and then in turn
- 21:41Speaker 1: buy her product. Well, they've realised that there's no way
- 21:43Speaker 1: to undo the people who dislike her opinions on her.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Yeah, you can't change that.
- 21:47Speaker 1: And do you know what the crazy thing is? Can
- 21:48Speaker 1: you imagine if, say, 30 years ago there was a
- 21:52Speaker 1: Netflix show with Princess Diana and talking about her top
- 21:55Speaker 1: tips for dinner parties and cooking.
- 21:57Speaker 2: I would have loved to have seen that.
- 21:58Speaker 1: But do you know what? It probably would have copped
- 22:00Speaker 1: the same criticism as Meghan is copping now because everyone
- 22:04Speaker 1: is just so vile to women, especially in the media.
- 22:07Speaker 1: But why do we have this thing where we think
- 22:09Speaker 1: that people who are princesses and princes Why do they
- 22:13Speaker 1: have to be the common man? Like, can't we just
- 22:15Speaker 1: escape into their lives and see the luxury that they live?
- 22:18Speaker 1: Which was a celebrity before too. As you said, look
- 22:20Speaker 1: at Ballerina Farm and Nara Smith. People watch that for
- 22:23Speaker 1: a form of escapism. No one's actually making their own
- 22:25Speaker 1: chewing gum on their own diet Coke. It's a form
- 22:27Speaker 1: of entertainment. That being said, I think that the first
- 22:31Speaker 1: couple of episodes will have a lot of downloads and
- 22:34Speaker 1: views and I think it will teeter off. when the
- 22:36Speaker 1: hate followers start thinking, well.
- 22:37Speaker 2: This is kind of boring. A bit like a podcast,
- 22:38Speaker 2: I suppose. Well, I am very interested to watch it.
- 22:40Speaker 2: I'm excited.
- 22:41Speaker 1: So I've got that locked in and also Molly May's doco.
- 22:44Speaker 1: One figure down if you left your phone in an
- 22:46Speaker 1: Uber in Manhattan and didn't realize until you got inside
- 22:49Speaker 1: and then couldn't contact the Uber driver because you booked
- 22:51Speaker 1: it on your phone and your phone was in the Uber.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Georgia Love has been criticized for wasting emergency services time
- 22:58Speaker 1: after calling 911 to help her find her missing phone.
- 23:02Speaker 1: The former bachelorette lost her iPhone after accidentally leaving it
- 23:06Speaker 1: in an Uber in Manhattan during her holiday to New York.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Kate, can you tell us more?
- 23:11Speaker 1: Well, after going MIA on social media for three days,
- 23:14Speaker 1: Georgia returned to share her story about her lost phone,
- 23:18Speaker 1: recounting the tale on Instagram and TikTok. So it turns
- 23:21Speaker 1: out that she left her phone in an Uber and
- 23:23Speaker 1: didn't realize until she got inside her best friend's apartment.
- 23:27Speaker 1: And she ended up tracking the location of the missing
- 23:29Speaker 1: phone and went to the police station to file a
- 23:32Speaker 1: missing items report. Now, the police told her that she'd
- 23:35Speaker 1: have to wait a week for them to assist her,
- 23:37Speaker 1: but she would be home in Melbourne by that time.
- 23:40Speaker 1: So she took matters into her own hands and took
- 23:42Speaker 1: a train to the location where her phone was showing up. Now,
- 23:45Speaker 1: after realizing that she couldn't just knock on random people's
- 23:48Speaker 1: doors and She phoned 911 and waited an hour and
- 23:51Speaker 1: a half for the police to turn up. Now, during
- 23:54Speaker 1: that time, she also popped into a local fire station
- 23:57Speaker 1: to make lost phone posters, which she distributed.
- 24:00Speaker 2: In the area.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Now, did she call the police because she assumed that
- 24:03Speaker 1: someone had stolen her phone and this was now a crime? Well,
- 24:06Speaker 1: she actually glazed over that and the police rocked up
- 24:08Speaker 1: and they're like, we're not going to be able to
- 24:10Speaker 1: find your phone.
- 24:10Speaker 2: They did knock on a few doors and the third door.
- 24:12Speaker 1: They're like this fucking stupid Australian, like what's going on?
- 24:15Speaker 1: The third door they knocked on, a guy came out
- 24:17Speaker 1: and goes, oh, I actually have your phone.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Someone threw it in the garbage bin.
- 24:20Speaker 1: It was all a bit of a confusing story, but
- 24:23Speaker 1: why do I feel like this is something that I
- 24:24Speaker 1: would do if my phone went missing? I would be
- 24:26Speaker 1: putting out alerts like, police, please help me. This is
- 24:30Speaker 1: my prized possession. My phone is missing. All of my
- 24:34Speaker 1: holiday photos are gone. It's like on the milk cartons
- 24:36Speaker 1: in America. Sophie's missing phone. Well, a lot of people
- 24:39Speaker 1: were shocked on TikTok that she would actually call 911.
- 24:42Speaker 2: They said it was a terrible use of emergency services.
- 24:45Speaker 1: I'm surprised that the emergency services wouldn't just tell her to.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Fuck off and say that we're not dealing with this.
- 24:49Speaker 1: That's why I'm wondering what she actually told them on
- 24:52Speaker 1: the phone. Well, George's sister also wasn't thrilled by her story.
- 24:55Speaker 1: So One follower commented on Georgia's post, this is insane,
- 24:59Speaker 1: were you trying to get murdered? And Georgia's sister responded,
- 25:02Speaker 1: I'm glad her sister wasn't the only one thinking this.
- 25:05Speaker 1: I told them not to go because it was a
- 25:07Speaker 1: bad idea, but sister intuition told me they'd ignored that.
- 25:09Speaker 1: So I started Googling the area the phone was last
- 25:12Speaker 1: pinging in to find the crime rate. When she was
- 25:14Speaker 1: telling this story, she was talking about how she had
- 25:16Speaker 1: to go all the way to Flushing, Queens, and I
- 25:18Speaker 1: just got the nanny song in my head. Yeah, a
- 25:20Speaker 1: lot of people were actually commenting that as well. Maybe
- 25:22Speaker 1: she was concerned that someone might sell some of the
- 25:26Speaker 1: messages or images to the media because of her apparent
- 25:29Speaker 1: split with her husband. That's true. But, I mean, would
- 25:30Speaker 1: anyone really know who she is? is. Well, it would
- 25:33Speaker 1: take one Australian who's over there who watched The Bachelorette. Well,
- 25:36Speaker 1: you'd have to get into the phone though. You'd have
- 25:38Speaker 1: to know her passcode. That'd be, you could guess it.
- 25:40Speaker 1: There'd be some kind of app that would allow you
- 25:42Speaker 1: to get in, I think. Yeah.
- 25:43Speaker 2: That is an interesting point.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Cause I was like, why the hell was she so
- 25:46Speaker 1: desperate to get her phone back? I mean, if she's
- 25:48Speaker 1: already got find your phone set up, surely she has
- 25:51Speaker 1: that option to wipe the phone as well. Think how
- 25:54Speaker 1: much dirt is actually on your phone. I mean, You've
- 25:56Speaker 1: got all of your credit cards as well linked to it.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Imagine your notes, like someone going through your notes section
- 26:01Speaker 1: on your phone. This incident reminds me of something that
- 26:04Speaker 1: happened recently.
- 26:05Speaker 2: To Olivia Rogers.
- 26:06Speaker 1: So she used an Uber to send some clothes back
- 26:11Speaker 1: to her apartment.
- 26:12Speaker 2: I didn't even know you could do that.
- 26:13Speaker 1: But apparently it's a service that a lot of people use. Yeah,
- 26:15Speaker 1: I saw Abby Chatfield talking about it. Apparently her boyfriend
- 26:18Speaker 1: Ubered her over some like cough medicine or something. Must
- 26:21Speaker 1: be like a celebrity thing. Yeah, well, and basically the
- 26:24Speaker 1: Uber driver allegedly then stole all of the items and
- 26:28Speaker 1: she never got any of them back. And she lodged
- 26:30Speaker 1: this huge complaint against Uber and she created like a
- 26:33Speaker 1: series of TikToks about it. And I was thinking, Well,
- 26:35Speaker 1: she's never getting a sponsorship deal with Uber again. We're
- 26:38Speaker 1: so trusting as a society now, aren't we? Well, let's
- 26:41Speaker 1: get into our new segment called the Friday Debrief. And
- 26:45Speaker 1: each week we'll either be bringing you a recommendation, a
- 26:48Speaker 1: fun story, or just a bit of a rant. Now, Sophie,
- 26:50Speaker 1: I want you to kick us off. I've got a
- 26:52Speaker 1: personal story or experience I'm supposed to kick things off with.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Oh, I'm very intrigued.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Well, when I announced that I was pregnant, which was
- 27:03Speaker 1: before Christmas a couple of weeks ago, There are quite
- 27:06Speaker 1: a few listeners who messaged me saying they're also pregnant
- 27:08Speaker 1: around the same time. So I thought maybe this was
- 27:10Speaker 1: a helpful story to share. But I have found myself
- 27:14Speaker 1: over this festive period being consumed by what I can wear. Now,
- 27:20Speaker 1: I am four months pregnant today, which is quite crazy
- 27:23Speaker 1: to think of. But I'm at that stage where I'm
- 27:25Speaker 1: not necessarily, I don't have a big bump. Like I'm
- 27:28Speaker 1: more looking on the bloated side of things. Yeah. And
- 27:31Speaker 1: I'm finding it really difficult. because I've never really thought
- 27:35Speaker 1: so much about what I'm going to wear. Like I
- 27:37Speaker 1: am interested in clothes, but I'm having to try new things.
- 27:41Speaker 1: I'm very much the sort of person that just likes
- 27:42Speaker 1: to wear trousers and jeans and a singlet or shorts
- 27:46Speaker 1: or whatever. But I am finding that I have to
- 27:48Speaker 1: now wear dresses, which is very unusual for me. I
- 27:51Speaker 1: feel like I'm having to dip into this new feminine
- 27:54Speaker 1: style and I feel uncomfortable about it. I feel like
- 27:57Speaker 1: you are a sort of person that would wear dresses.
- 27:59Speaker 1: But I don't wear them to like, if I go
- 28:00Speaker 1: out to dinner for a casual dinner, like I'm just
- 28:03Speaker 1: finding that I'm having to revisit what my style is,
- 28:06Speaker 1: what I feel comfortable in, and I feel like that
- 28:08Speaker 1: there's a lot of other people who are going through
- 28:11Speaker 1: the early stages of pregnancy at the moment that could
- 28:13Speaker 1: relate to this because you just don't feel like yourself. Well,
- 28:18Speaker 1: do you know what? The other day I was shopping
- 28:20Speaker 1: and I have had the first stranger congratulate me on
- 28:23Speaker 1: my pregnancy. I'm just over six months.
- 28:26Speaker 2: I think over six months now.
- 28:27Speaker 1: I'm 25 weeks. That is wild. Yeah. So, I mean,
- 28:30Speaker 1: obviously I look good. pregnant, but I was at the
- 28:33Speaker 1: shops and this lady was like, by the way, congratulations.
- 28:37Speaker 1: And I thought that is brave. Like as in, I
- 28:40Speaker 1: know I am 25 weeks pregnant, but I find that
- 28:43Speaker 1: I will never congratulate somebody unless they bring it up.
- 28:46Speaker 1: We have actually gone shopping recently, Amy, because we're like,
- 28:48Speaker 1: I just need some new clothes. I need some inspiration.
- 28:52Speaker 1: And it's a hard one because you don't want to
- 28:53Speaker 1: spend too much money because my sister-in-law is, gosh, I
- 28:57Speaker 1: think she must be almost eight months pregnant and it's
- 29:01Speaker 1: gone so quickly. And she finds that she'll buy something,
- 29:05Speaker 1: but then within the next two weeks, she doesn't fit
- 29:07Speaker 1: in it anymore. So it's that whole thing of like,
- 29:10Speaker 1: I don't want to dip into fast fashion, but I
- 29:12Speaker 1: don't want to buy things that are ultra expensive that
- 29:15Speaker 1: I'm potentially not going to wear again. I wonder if
- 29:18Speaker 1: Facebook marketplace is a good spot for it. I was
- 29:21Speaker 1: going to say there's some really fashionable maternity brands that
- 29:24Speaker 1: I've seen pop up on Instagram, like Bay the Label,
- 29:28Speaker 1: there's Lego Heritage. I'm probably pronouncing that wrong, but There's
- 29:32Speaker 1: a few brands and I'm thinking of investing in them
- 29:35Speaker 1: because you can buy them now and they're going to stretch. Well,
- 29:37Speaker 1: Target is also really good. I've been watching a lot
- 29:40Speaker 1: of TikTok videos and a lot of really stylish women
- 29:44Speaker 1: are getting their jeans, they're getting like oversized tops and
- 29:48Speaker 1: they're quite reasonable prices as well. I really don't want
- 29:51Speaker 1: to wish summer away. But I am very grateful that
- 29:54Speaker 1: I'm going to be heavily pregnant come winter because that
- 29:57Speaker 1: is when I'm going to be just getting around in
- 29:59Speaker 1: large baggy hoodies and tracksuits. And it's just this weird
- 30:03Speaker 1: time of year where you're having to, I suppose, get
- 30:06Speaker 1: your body out. You've timed it well. I don't think
- 30:08Speaker 1: I've timed it very well. I'm in the peak of summer.
- 30:11Speaker 1: It's so weird because I'm in the exact timing of Kate.
- 30:13Speaker 1: So it's kind of good and bad that I can
- 30:16Speaker 1: compare what she was at particular points. I want to say,
- 30:18Speaker 1: thank God I don't have two weddings to be in
- 30:20Speaker 1: because that would be an absolute new module. Yeah. So
- 30:22Speaker 1: I have a recommendation for a baby brand. It's called
- 30:25Speaker 1: Jay and Bay. And the owners of the company are
- 30:28Speaker 1: listeners of the podcast. And they were so kind and
- 30:30Speaker 1: sent me some of their smocks. Well, I think they
- 30:32Speaker 1: heard that you were struggling with feeding time because Jack
- 30:34Speaker 1: was getting very dirty. I know I had peas all
- 30:36Speaker 1: over me. Because it's so cute now. Every day you'll
- 30:39Speaker 1: send us through a photo of Jack trying a new solid.
- 30:42Speaker 1: And these smocks are so cute. It's funny because some
- 30:46Speaker 1: of them, like the colors, They almost go with some
- 30:48Speaker 1: of the foods he's trying. He looks almost like an artist.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Not only are they really cute, but they're very functional.
- 30:54Speaker 1: So they've got this special flap that you can tuck
- 30:57Speaker 1: into the outfit so all the food doesn't slop down
- 30:59Speaker 1: onto their clothing. It's so good. I've also got a recommendation,
- 31:03Speaker 1: but this one is for a TV show. So it's
- 31:06Speaker 1: a new Netflix doco called Don't Die, The Man Who
- 31:09Speaker 1: Wants to Live Forever. And it's all about this very
- 31:13Speaker 1: wealthy entrepreneur called Brian Johnson. And if you're a listener
- 31:17Speaker 1: of Diary of a CEO.
- 31:19Speaker 2: You will have heard of Brian.
- 31:20Speaker 1: You are an avid listener of Diary of a CEO.
- 31:23Speaker 1: But this guy, Brian, he's been all over the media.
- 31:25Speaker 1: People like to tout him as a bit of a
- 31:27Speaker 1: freak because he has basically invested millions and millions of
- 31:31Speaker 1: dollars in business. trying to keep young. He's trying to
- 31:34Speaker 1: reverse his biological clock. I mean, he's not interested in
- 31:37Speaker 1: looking younger, is he? It's more about staying alive for
- 31:40Speaker 1: as long as he can. I mean, I think he
- 31:42Speaker 1: doesn't mind if he looks a little bit younger because
- 31:45Speaker 1: it's quite funny. So when you watch this, Sophie, you'll
- 31:48Speaker 1: understand his son is in the documentary and a lot
- 31:50Speaker 1: of people think that he's trying to wind back the
- 31:52Speaker 1: clock to look like his son. They look very, very similar.
- 31:56Speaker 1: So he's basically launched this movement to inspire other people
- 31:59Speaker 1: to eat healthier and look after their health and be
- 32:02Speaker 1: more preventative. you know, trying to stop Alzheimer's, for example,
- 32:05Speaker 1: before it happens. But it's crazy some of the lengths
- 32:07Speaker 1: he'll go to. Like he consumes about 150 tablets per day.
- 32:11Speaker 1: That's the thing. It's just not reasonable for anyone else
- 32:14Speaker 1: who isn't a millionaire or a billionaire. And there's then
- 32:17Speaker 1: the whole debate. Are they actually living their life to
- 32:20Speaker 1: the fullest, enjoying themselves? Or are they just consumed with
- 32:23Speaker 1: this obsession of being alive for as long as possible?
- 32:26Speaker 1: Like what sort of life is that? Well, they explore
- 32:29Speaker 1: this theme throughout the documentary. Because he made it big
- 32:33Speaker 1: through this tech company and he was living a very
- 32:35Speaker 1: unhealthy lifestyle to the point where he actually didn't want
- 32:38Speaker 1: to live life anymore. And apparently this has given him
- 32:41Speaker 1: this new lease on life. But I would highly recommend it.
- 32:44Speaker 1: It was one where I didn't even look at my
- 32:46Speaker 1: phone because there was so much going on. There was
- 32:48Speaker 1: the freak factor, but there was also a lot of
- 32:52Speaker 1: entertaining parts because I love those kind of health docos
- 32:55Speaker 1: as well. That's the thing. I found that there has
- 32:56Speaker 1: been nothing to watch on TV. So I really... appreciate
- 33:00Speaker 1: that recommendation and it's been the time of the year
- 33:02Speaker 1: where we've had the most time to just sit and
- 33:04Speaker 1: veg but i found like i can't find anything well
- 33:07Speaker 1: it's a perfect doco as well because everyone's getting into
- 33:09Speaker 1: their health routines i mean even though i'm taking it
- 33:12Speaker 1: a bit too far you're obviously not going to start
- 33:14Speaker 1: taking 150 supplements but made me think well i should
- 33:17Speaker 1: be more careful what i eat it is actually affecting
- 33:19Speaker 1: your body well i think that's it for today If
- 33:22Speaker 1: you haven't already, we would really appreciate if you could
- 33:25Speaker 1: spend a few moments just leaving us a five-star review
- 33:28Speaker 1: because it really helps out the show.
- 33:29Speaker 2: That's one small thing you can do if you are
- 33:32Speaker 2: a listener who.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Does enjoy listening to The God Day, if you could.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Leave us a review.
- 33:36Speaker 1: I would also love to know now that we have
- 33:38Speaker 1: moved this show back to Fridays, where are you listening from?
- 33:41Speaker 1: Are you doing your Maccas run whilst you're listening to us?
- 33:45Speaker 1: Is there something fun that you're doing on your Friday?

- 33:59Speaker 1: you can go and listen to a whole back catalogue

- 34:04Speaker 1: did our ins and outs for 2025 in that episode.

- 34:09Speaker 1: seeing on TikTok. Let us know what your ins and
- 34:11Speaker 1: outs are as well. Well, this episode was recorded on
