Panthers Lock In Schmid as Backup Goalie | Florida Panthers News
The Florida Panthers just locked down their backup goalie future with a two-year, $2M deal for Akira Schmid — avoiding arbitration and bringing stability after years of goalie carousel chaos. Schmid, who posted a stellar 2.59 GAA last season, now joins Sergei Bobrovsky as a reliable tandem, slashing the team’s goalie payroll from $11M to $8M. With Knight gone and Stolarz now in Toronto, the Panthers are finally set to build on their recent success with a clear, cost-effective goaltending plan.
