- 0:44Speaker 1: a cold and am vocally challenged this week, so let's
- 0:48Speaker 1: get right to the radio replays from the bengals most
- 0:51Speaker 1: dominant performance of the year. Burrowing the gun Mixon to
- 0:55Speaker 1: his right thanks to Joe Mixon. Burrow throwing deep Donald
- 0:59Speaker 1: of the field, the boy over the shoulder catch at
- 1:02Speaker 1: the sixty and he streaks into the end zone. Touchdown
- 1:07Speaker 1: Bengals as Joe Burrow floats a perfect ball down the
- 1:11Speaker 1: middle of the field sixty yards for a touchdown to
- 1:15Speaker 1: Tyler Boy. Broken coverage by the Atlanta Falcons, the Bengals
- 1:19Speaker 1: bring in a sixth offensive lineman Hakimadnagy. Third down and
- 1:23Speaker 1: goal balls between the one and the two. Burrows under center.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Joe takes the snap, hands it to Mixon, fings to
- 1:31Speaker 1: the left, lowers the shoulder, pads hand. He's in touchdown.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Bengals nice fourteen nothing Cincinnati, forty nine seconds left in
- 1:41Speaker 1: the first quarter. Play action Pike Burrow throws a one
- 1:44Speaker 1: handed catch by Tyler Boy. He spikes the ball after
- 1:48Speaker 1: making the catch at the forty four of Atlanta Tyler
- 1:53Speaker 1: Boy show time. Burrow catches the shotgun snap. He's back
- 1:56Speaker 1: to throw. He's gonna throw it high and deep for
- 1:58Speaker 1: Chase Tomah has the ball. It is a touchdown. He
- 2:03Speaker 1: knocks over the python and holds down to the ball.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Three drives, three touchdowns for Joe Burrow and the Bengals.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. Joe Burrow is now fourteen for sixteen
- 2:16Speaker 1: for getting close to two undred and fifty yards and
- 2:18Speaker 1: two touchdowns. Mariota one for three for two yards. Oh
- 2:22Speaker 1: my goodness. Now Burrow throws toward the left side back
- 2:25Speaker 1: shoulder throw. Chase makes the cuts. The feet me Chase up.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Chase is unsuccessful up forty one yard touchdown. The Bengals
- 2:36Speaker 1: four td in four first half drives. Two touchdowns have too.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Joe Burrow has thrown one for sixty. He's throw one
- 2:45Speaker 1: for forty one. I mean Jamar Chase gets to top
- 2:49Speaker 1: speed in two steps. He is so explosive. The veteran
- 2:53Speaker 1: quarterback catches the shotgun snap under pressure, Hendrickson with a
- 2:58Speaker 1: sack at the twenty two yard line. Second and goal
- 3:01Speaker 1: quarterback sneak Joe Burrow. The officials come marching up the
- 3:05Speaker 1: goal line. No signal yet, Sure, look he is in.
- 3:10Speaker 1: There's the signal. Touchdown on the quarterback sneak, and the
- 3:14Speaker 1: Bengals have gone up and over thirty for the second
- 3:16Speaker 1: week in a row. Mariota back to pass on third Pham,
- 3:20Speaker 1: he is sacked Sam Hubbard at the thirty five yard line.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Marriotas set catches the shotgun snap, retreats in the pocket,
- 3:29Speaker 1: gets hit, and Joseph Osi has his first NFL sacked.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Nice Burrow catches a high snap quarterback draw. It works.
- 3:38Speaker 1: He's to the forty five and tackled from behind at
- 3:43Speaker 1: the forty eight, a twenty yard run for Joe Burrow,
- 3:48Speaker 1: and he says, why not, I mean, there's no been
- 3:50Speaker 1: a linebacker once he gets past the defensive mind, there's
- 3:53Speaker 1: no been a linebacker. He's gonna lead blocker. And Ted Carriss,
- 3:56Speaker 1: who's taken him to the safety level. I mean, just unbelievable.
- 4:01Speaker 1: And Bean pas in the in the Atlanta Falcon defense
- 4:04Speaker 1: scratching their heads now saying whatever we do is wrong.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Number nine proves us wrong. He has the answers to
- 4:12Speaker 1: the test before the plan folds. The final score Cincinnati
- 4:17Speaker 1: thirty five, Atlanta seventeen. For the second straight week, Joe
- 4:21Speaker 1: Burrow had three touchdown passes, one touchdown run, and no interceptions.
- 4:27Speaker 1: His passer rating was one thirty eight point two. After
- 4:31Speaker 1: the game, Dave Lapham talked to Burrow and Boyd together.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Joe thirty four forty two, four hundred and eighty one yards,
- 4:41Speaker 1: three touchdowns passing, You rush for one, Tyler Boyd, you
- 4:46Speaker 1: had a personal high eight catches, one hundred and fifty
- 4:49Speaker 1: five yards and a touchdown. What did you guys see?
- 4:51Speaker 1: I mean, you spread them out? Was it just take completions?
- 4:54Speaker 1: Or what. Yeah, they got into base defense, put initial
- 4:58Speaker 1: deal lineman in the game, and so we started going
- 5:00Speaker 1: empty and there was a lot of space out there
- 5:02Speaker 1: to complete to the guys, and they made the rest
- 5:04Speaker 1: happen after the catch. So, Tyler, what you were working
- 5:07Speaker 1: the middle of the football field like a magician like
- 5:10Speaker 1: you always do. What were you seeing? Ah Man, just
- 5:12Speaker 1: the same thing again. We got that we get you know,
- 5:14Speaker 1: and and we're so comfortable, uh known and now and
- 5:17Speaker 1: seeing it. We made our adjustment weekend we got during
- 5:20Speaker 1: during a weekend, they finally thrown a hit and work
- 5:22Speaker 1: for us. So you had you had Chase had eight
- 5:26Speaker 1: catches one hundred and thirty, Tyler had eight one hundred
- 5:29Speaker 1: and fifty five, Tea Higgins five for ninety three. You
- 5:31Speaker 1: almost had three receivers with one hundred yards receiver. And
- 5:35Speaker 1: that's being like a point guard distributing the ball. Man. Yeah,
- 5:38Speaker 1: we were trying to get t to one hundred. It
- 5:39Speaker 1: couldn't quite make it happen, but I mean that's that's
- 5:42Speaker 1: how you wanted to be distributing the ball defense telling
- 5:45Speaker 1: me but not predetermining. So that's what I tried to
- 5:48Speaker 1: strive for. It. Let me ask both of you guys,
- 5:51Speaker 1: third down, your lead the NFL coming into the game
- 5:53Speaker 1: on third down quarterback rating today it was first down
- 5:56Speaker 1: though all three of your touchdowns thirty two yard or
- 5:59Speaker 1: forty one yard, sixty yard or to Tyler or on
- 6:01Speaker 1: first down you had three other receptions for over twenty
- 6:05Speaker 1: yards on first down. You guys were killing them on
- 6:07Speaker 1: first down? What was it? We had a great plan
- 6:10Speaker 1: coming in coach and did a great job. And that's
- 6:14Speaker 1: that's why you'd want to be You don't want to
- 6:15Speaker 1: be in third downs. That's when defenses, you know, try
- 6:17Speaker 1: to make their money. So you try to make it
- 6:19Speaker 1: happen on first and second down. That's what we did today.
- 6:21Speaker 1: What did you see, Tyler? Did you see a lot
- 6:23Speaker 1: of opportunity when you lined up on first down? It's like, oh, yeah,
- 6:26Speaker 1: he's coming to me. Yeah. A lot of the times,
- 6:28Speaker 1: you know, based off the look that they give us
- 6:30Speaker 1: and then they run a lot of a lot of
- 6:31Speaker 1: base to our eleven. So that's where we take advantage
- 6:34Speaker 1: of our opportunity. That's why we you know, stayed in
- 6:36Speaker 1: and kept continue to throw the ball because we had
- 6:38Speaker 1: to Mitch mess look every single time. You guys both
- 6:41Speaker 1: said that this team offensively is finding an identity, and
- 6:44Speaker 1: it seems to be the case. Two weeks in a row,
- 6:46Speaker 1: thirty points from war. I mean, now, if if you guys,
- 6:50Speaker 1: since two thousand and then you guys scored twenty five
- 6:52Speaker 1: points from where you're sixty two six sixty two wins,
- 6:55Speaker 1: six losses and two ties, I mean twenty five points
- 6:59Speaker 1: the magic number. Man, Yeah, I mean, it's always been
- 7:02Speaker 1: thirty for me. Usually if we get usually if we
- 7:04Speaker 1: get thirty, you're not losing, and then throw for four hundred,
- 7:08Speaker 1: you're not losing. It's always good. Appreciate it, guys. Thanks.
- 7:12Speaker 1: By the way, the Bengals have had three one hundred
- 7:15Speaker 1: yard receivers in the same game once in their history
- 7:18Speaker 1: October seventh, nineteen ninety, when James Brooks, Rodney Holman, and
- 7:23Speaker 1: Tim McGee top the century mark in an overtime win
- 7:27Speaker 1: over the Rams. The Bengals Booth podcast is brought to

- 7:38Speaker 1: retain employees. Learn more at paycorps dot com. Defensively, the
- 7:44Speaker 1: Bengals dominated most of the game. The Falcons had a
- 7:47Speaker 1: long touchdown drive in the second quarter, followed by a
- 7:51Speaker 1: seventy five yard touchdown pass, But on their other six
- 7:54Speaker 1: possessions that began in their own territory, the Falcons punted
- 7:58Speaker 1: on all six. Joseph Osa, who missed his rookie year
- 8:02Speaker 1: due to injuries, had his first NFL sack, and I
- 8:05Speaker 1: talked to him about it after the game. I did
- 8:08Speaker 1: it feels uh. First of all, I want to say,
- 8:11Speaker 1: I want to say thank God. Without him, nothing is
- 8:15Speaker 1: Without him, nothing is possible. I want to say, uh,
- 8:19Speaker 1: thanking to my teammates, my family, my coaches with trusting
- 8:22Speaker 1: and believing in me. It's awesome. UF, it feels amazing.
- 8:26Speaker 1: It feels great. I feel like I'm find I was
- 8:29Speaker 1: finally able to contribute to the team. And that's all
- 8:31Speaker 1: I've ever wanted to, just prove myself to these guys
- 8:34Speaker 1: that I can play. Your teammates went nuts after that sack.
- 8:38Speaker 1: It's fun to see. I appreciate them. I got a
- 8:41Speaker 1: lot of support from them. I had a lot of
- 8:43Speaker 1: love from them, and I got a lot of love
- 8:44Speaker 1: for them. So it was It's awesome. It was great.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I've leared than the seventy five yard touchdown pass that
- 8:50Speaker 1: the Falcons got with less than a minute ago in
- 8:52Speaker 1: the second quarter. I thought the defense overall played extremely well.
- 8:56Speaker 1: What did you think? I think? I think we played
- 8:58Speaker 1: a great tun Uh. You know, we're a team that's
- 9:01Speaker 1: always looking for for things to clean up and ways
- 9:03Speaker 1: to get better, And no matter how great we played,
- 9:07Speaker 1: there's always things to fix. And that's what we're gonna do.
- 9:09Speaker 1: We're gonna enjoy this win today and then we're gonna
- 9:11Speaker 1: go back to the drawing board and fix the things
- 9:12Speaker 1: we need to fix. I think one of the big
- 9:14Speaker 1: storylines going into the game was could you stop that
- 9:17Speaker 1: running game without DJ Raider, without Josh Too, but without
- 9:21Speaker 1: Logan Wilson. They ran it well on one drive, but
- 9:24Speaker 1: that was it. Yeah, that's that's created those interior guys,
- 9:28Speaker 1: j to Fele, you know, Tyler Shelvin, Big bj Um,
- 9:32Speaker 1: bj Hill, the Zach Carter, them guys just stepping up
- 9:35Speaker 1: and um, they've been patiently watching behind those those leaders
- 9:38Speaker 1: you mentioned being out and um they did a good
- 9:41Speaker 1: job of filling in and stopping that run. And we
- 9:44Speaker 1: really we really used it, We really needed it. Were
- 9:46Speaker 1: you able to watch Joe Burrow on this video board
- 9:50Speaker 1: or while you're on the sideline at all, because it
- 9:52Speaker 1: was quite a shell. Yeah, we were, we were, we were.
- 9:54Speaker 1: We took a little glimpse here and there in between
- 9:56Speaker 1: trying to trying to make some sideline adjustments. But yeah,
- 9:59Speaker 1: he he's amazing. Zeza breaking start certainly is. Now. Here's
- 10:05Speaker 1: one more one on one conversation as Lap spend three
- 10:08Speaker 1: minutes with Zach Taylor after the win. Coach, your quarterback
- 10:13Speaker 1: throws for four and eighty one yards complete thirty four
- 10:18Speaker 1: out of forty two, Chase eight catchers for one hundred
- 10:20Speaker 1: and thirty boyd eight catchers for a buck fifty five.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Chase had two touchdowns, Boydows one, then Higgins five for
- 10:26Speaker 1: ninety three almost three hundred yard receivers there and a
- 10:30Speaker 1: lot of the damage done on first down. I mean,
- 10:32Speaker 1: Joe Burrow leads the NFL and third down quarterback rating
- 10:36Speaker 1: today on first down. Oh my god, you guys were
- 10:39Speaker 1: in machine. We tried out to be greedy. We knew
- 10:42Speaker 1: that they had some injuries at dB going into the game,
- 10:44Speaker 1: and they suffered even more as the game went on,
- 10:46Speaker 1: So we wanted to make sure we didn't let him
- 10:47Speaker 1: off the hook with all the skill guys we got.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Joe did a great job operating, get down his hand quickly.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Let those guys get some yard after the catch. Five
- 10:54Speaker 1: of the six possessions against the Saint you scored, and
- 10:57Speaker 1: then the first four today you score nine out of ten.
- 11:01Speaker 1: That's a that's a run. That's hard to beat. Yeah,
- 11:03Speaker 1: and we got to keep proving ourselves. You know. It's
- 11:05Speaker 1: just because we did in one game doesn't mean it's
- 11:06Speaker 1: going to carry it to the next. Our guys obviously
- 11:08Speaker 1: have all confidence, but every every game brings a new challenge,
- 11:11Speaker 1: and our guys got to put in a great week
- 11:13Speaker 1: work to be ready for Cleveland the next next week.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Your defense shut them out in the second half, so
- 11:19Speaker 1: no touchdowns allowed obviously because they didn't allow any points,
- 11:21Speaker 1: but no touchdowns allowed in the second half after seven
- 11:25Speaker 1: NFL football games, that's pretty extraordinary. Allows us to get
- 11:30Speaker 1: our feet under us on offense and be efficient over
- 11:32Speaker 1: there knowing that our defense is gonna keep points off
- 11:34Speaker 1: the board. Man. Just a great job by lou and
- 11:36Speaker 1: his staff and the players believing in the system, stepping
- 11:39Speaker 1: up and making those plays. You start from your own
- 11:41Speaker 1: two yard line in that last possession, you drive all
- 11:43Speaker 1: the way down to basically their two yard line and basically,
- 11:47Speaker 1: you know, kneel on and sit on the football. How
- 11:49Speaker 1: gratifying is that to have that kind of a drive
- 11:51Speaker 1: to close it out. That's just how you want to finish,
- 11:53Speaker 1: you know, it's our defense had had done a great job.
- 11:55Speaker 1: You don't want to put them back out there. We
- 11:56Speaker 1: kind of had the sense that that's the way it
- 11:58Speaker 1: could go. If we're on the minus two, man might
- 12:00Speaker 1: be able to eat up nine minutes here and finish
- 12:02Speaker 1: on the ball. And then and then to even finish
- 12:04Speaker 1: it the way we did with one of our our players.
- 12:06Speaker 1: We work over and over. You never know when the
- 12:07Speaker 1: time is going to call for it. Hayden getting under
- 12:09Speaker 1: center and trying to draw them off side. He did
- 12:10Speaker 1: a great job of it. It was a great way
- 12:12Speaker 1: to finish the game. And finally, when you look at it,
- 12:17Speaker 1: how much better can this offense play? You're a you're
- 12:19Speaker 1: in a stretch right now, in a two game stretch,
- 12:21Speaker 1: that is pretty extraordinary. I mean, what do you what
- 12:25Speaker 1: do you tell your team when they're playing this, Well,
- 12:27Speaker 1: there's always things we can improve on, you know, it's
- 12:30Speaker 1: it's um, whether it's making sure we're better in short guardage, um,
- 12:36Speaker 1: not putting ourselves, you know, behind the eight ball and
- 12:37Speaker 1: third down. There's always things that we can clean up
- 12:39Speaker 1: to make sure we do a better job. We had
- 12:40Speaker 1: a couple of ements. It happened, U So there's always
- 12:43Speaker 1: things that we can point to and improve on so
- 12:45Speaker 1: that we can be a better offense than next week.
- 12:47Speaker 1: And your offense looks good, coach. You got a lot
- 12:49Speaker 1: of weapons, you got am all involved, you got a
- 12:51Speaker 1: quarterback that has the answers to the test, and you
- 12:54Speaker 1: called a hell of a football game. And that was
- 12:55Speaker 1: something to watch. It really was. It was a lot
- 12:57Speaker 1: of fun, you know, and so we just gotta keep
- 12:58Speaker 1: the momentum going, sir. Thanks Monday Night football in Cleveland
- 13:03Speaker 1: is up next. The Browns are two and five with
- 13:05Speaker 1: a four game losing streak after a three point loss
- 13:09Speaker 1: in Baltimore. The Bengals and Ravens share first place in
- 13:12Speaker 1: the AFC North at four and three. The Bengals Booth
- 13:16Speaker 1: Podcast is presented by Alta Fiber future proof fiber Internet

- 13:25Speaker 1: business and community to a new level. Elevate your connection
- 13:29Speaker 1: with Alta fiber. Now time for the radio guys recap LAP.
- 13:34Speaker 1: I don't know what to say about Joe Burrow. It
- 13:36Speaker 1: was incredible today thirty four for forty two, four hundred
- 13:39Speaker 1: eighty one yards, three touchdowns, no picks. Also ran for
- 13:43Speaker 1: twenty one yards and a TD. I guess the Baltimore
- 13:47Speaker 1: game last year was better when he threw for five
- 13:49Speaker 1: to twenty five, but not by much, not by much.
- 13:51Speaker 1: And of course all the naysayers will say, oh, Baltimore
- 13:54Speaker 1: was beaten up, Atlanta's beaten up. I don't give it, damn.
- 13:57Speaker 1: I mean take advantage of it, and he did. And
- 14:00Speaker 1: you're thrown for a thousand yards basically in those two
- 14:02Speaker 1: football games. Thirty four for forty two, four hundred and
- 14:05Speaker 1: eighty one yards, that's that's Those are stupid numbers. And
- 14:09Speaker 1: then to distribute the ball like a point guard for
- 14:12Speaker 1: the second straight week, you get you know, Chase says
- 14:14Speaker 1: eight catches, one hundred and thirty two touchdowns, Boyd has
- 14:17Speaker 1: eight four one hundred and fifty five a career high
- 14:19Speaker 1: and a touchdown. Higgins five for ninety three and both
- 14:23Speaker 1: tip the Boyd and Joe Barrow like I wish we
- 14:25Speaker 1: got t the hundred, you know, and they were close.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Would have been ninety nine yards if that one had stood,
- 14:30Speaker 1: but uh, you know it was. It was an extraordinary
- 14:33Speaker 1: performance and they were I asked him, you know about
- 14:36Speaker 1: first down. I said, you guys just shredded them on
- 14:38Speaker 1: first down. All your touchdowns, you know, from from distance
- 14:41Speaker 1: forty one sixty yard touchdown, twenty thirty two yard touchdown,
- 14:45Speaker 1: we're all in first down. And they said, you know,
- 14:47Speaker 1: playing those stoft zones like they were, we felt like
- 14:50Speaker 1: we could really attack. And you know, Atlanta had problems
- 14:54Speaker 1: obviously tackling people after the catches were made, so they
- 14:58Speaker 1: they definitely were deficient on the back end, and the
- 15:02Speaker 1: Bengals just spread them out instead. We're taking completions, and
- 15:06Speaker 1: you know, let's be aggressive, and let's start on first down.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Let's be as aggressive as we can on first down.
- 15:12Speaker 1: And they had three touchdowns on the board and the
- 15:14Speaker 1: only third down they faced was third and one where
- 15:16Speaker 1: they rushed it on that third down run for a touchdown.
- 15:18Speaker 1: And they killed them on first down, and his second
- 15:21Speaker 1: down came about. They did a decent job on second down.
- 15:24Speaker 1: It was unbelievable to watch Joe Mixon wound up with
- 15:27Speaker 1: seventeen carries, so at the end of the day it
- 15:29Speaker 1: looked like he got the ball a lot, but really
- 15:31Speaker 1: much of that came really late. This is the second
- 15:34Speaker 1: week in a row where they basically said, you know what,
- 15:36Speaker 1: we don't really have to run that much if they
- 15:38Speaker 1: can't stop the short passing game. Agreed, you know, and
- 15:42Speaker 1: you know that short passing game in a lot of cases,
- 15:44Speaker 1: the way this offensive starts, there's almost like an extension
- 15:47Speaker 1: of the running game. And Joe had a lot of
- 15:49Speaker 1: his carries on that last drive. They started the two
- 15:51Speaker 1: yard line, they drive all the way the length of
- 15:53Speaker 1: the football field, and they take a knee inside the
- 15:56Speaker 1: five yard line down on the other end. That's a
- 15:58Speaker 1: rewarding drive, you know, and Joe's part of that, putting
- 16:02Speaker 1: them in a meat grinder, you know, running the football
- 16:04Speaker 1: when necessary to hammere it in there and keep the
- 16:06Speaker 1: clock moving and all those sorts of things. So, you know,
- 16:09Speaker 1: the epitome of a drive to close out a game
- 16:13Speaker 1: is start from your own two yard line. When they
- 16:15Speaker 1: got a great punt and then the penalty that moved
- 16:18Speaker 1: it back to the two yard line, half the distance
- 16:20Speaker 1: to the goal penalty, and to just move the football
- 16:24Speaker 1: and never give it back to the Atlanta Falcons is
- 16:27Speaker 1: just a hell of a deal. So in the second quarter,
- 16:30Speaker 1: the Falcons had a great long drive sixteen plays, thirteen
- 16:33Speaker 1: of them were runs. They also had a seventy five
- 16:35Speaker 1: yard touchdown pass. They got a field goal after a
- 16:38Speaker 1: fifty seven yard punt return, but that was it for
- 16:41Speaker 1: their offense. Didn't score first, third, or fourth another game
- 16:45Speaker 1: with the Bengals defense does not give up a second
- 16:47Speaker 1: half touchdown, haven't allowed one yet this year. That's unbelievable.
- 16:51Speaker 1: And I don't care in the NFL if you pitch
- 16:54Speaker 1: a shoutout for an a half, for an entire half,
- 16:56Speaker 1: they pitched the second half shut out. That's good stuff,
- 16:58Speaker 1: it really is. You know, I think you know complimentary
- 17:02Speaker 1: football is the name of the game there. But when
- 17:04Speaker 1: the defense, you know, this football team. The Falcons coming
- 17:08Speaker 1: into today's game, they only had twelve three and outs
- 17:10Speaker 1: on the season, few us in the league. The Bengals
- 17:12Speaker 1: had at least three that I can recall. I'm not
- 17:14Speaker 1: sure if there was a fourth in there or not,
- 17:16Speaker 1: but you know, that's an average of two three and
- 17:18Speaker 1: outs for getting the Bengals exceeded that and it's not
- 17:21Speaker 1: like there were a ton of possessions. You know, during
- 17:22Speaker 1: the course of the football game, Atlanta punted a ton.
- 17:25Speaker 1: I mean they had to punt it like six times.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I think the Bengals only punted a couple of times.
- 17:29Speaker 1: That tells you how effective they were. But then against
- 17:33Speaker 1: the Saints, they've scored five of their last six drives,
- 17:36Speaker 1: and the first four drives in the first half today
- 17:39Speaker 1: they score touchdowns. I mean nine out of ten drives.
- 17:42Speaker 1: You're scoring points. That's hard to do in this league.
- 17:46Speaker 1: And it's a heck of an accomplishment. You take a
- 17:48Speaker 1: bowl of that one. The vibe I got from the
- 17:51Speaker 1: players I talked to in the locker room after the
- 17:52Speaker 1: game was this is what we should be doing. We
- 17:56Speaker 1: put it together, start to finish for the first time
- 17:58Speaker 1: this year. Yeah, and I think, uh, you know, after
- 18:01Speaker 1: the after the Saints game, you heard guys in the
- 18:04Speaker 1: locker room saying, I think we're finding our identity. And
- 18:07Speaker 1: then you know, during the course of the week, more
- 18:09Speaker 1: and more guys weren't you know, we know what we
- 18:12Speaker 1: are about now offensively again, and and we're finding a
- 18:15Speaker 1: good identity. They are who do you stop? I mean,
- 18:20Speaker 1: it is unbelievable, and all the receivers went off. But
- 18:23Speaker 1: then hayden Hurst continues to just show so much toughness
- 18:27Speaker 1: after catch. He's becoming a very quick fan favorite, you know,
- 18:30Speaker 1: because of that physicality and the you know, I'm gonna
- 18:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna do whatever it takes to get the extra inch,
- 18:36Speaker 1: to make sure that I maximize every opportunity. And the
- 18:39Speaker 1: fan base is already uh embracing hayden Hurst, no question.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Six sketches for hayden Hurst in the game. Defensively at
- 18:46Speaker 1: King Davis, Gaither stepped in, got most of the snaps
- 18:49Speaker 1: that Logan Wilson would have normally had a linebacker led
- 18:51Speaker 1: the team and tackles. Yeah, he did exactly what he
- 18:53Speaker 1: should do. Um. And you know against a running team, UM,
- 18:58Speaker 1: you know, defensive lineman, the main responsibilities keep the linebackers free, Uh,
- 19:03Speaker 1: don't let don't let guys come off on double teams
- 19:05Speaker 1: and allow the linebacker to scrape and to scrape at
- 19:08Speaker 1: a very tight angle and uh and make plays coming downhill.
- 19:12Speaker 1: And they did a great job of that. And I
- 19:14Speaker 1: thought to fell played pretty well. Second game in a row,
- 19:16Speaker 1: second game in a row. He's got he's got some
- 19:20Speaker 1: quickness to him. I mean he had a couple of
- 19:21Speaker 1: moves inside, like pass rush moves in a rundown distance
- 19:24Speaker 1: where he was penetrating and he's a handful in there.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I mean he's he's welcoming this opportunity to get a
- 19:31Speaker 1: chance to play in the National Football League and he's
- 19:34Speaker 1: maximizing it. That that's what you want out of your
- 19:36Speaker 1: depth players. It's like, be ready and if the starter
- 19:40Speaker 1: goes down, we don't want a big drop off. You know,
- 19:42Speaker 1: we're not saying that you. We expect you to perform
- 19:44Speaker 1: equal to the starter. He's a starter for a reason.
- 19:47Speaker 1: But we don't expect to fall off the face of
- 19:48Speaker 1: the earth with your performance either. You made the football
- 19:51Speaker 1: team for a reason, you're a good football player. Step
- 19:53Speaker 1: up and play like it. And guys are doing that.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Not quite as big as his fellow Siman don't Peco,
- 19:59Speaker 1: but big from the way down and hard to to
- 20:02Speaker 1: move off the point you're right, and got that big,
- 20:05Speaker 1: thick lower body, man. You know those those legs in
- 20:09Speaker 1: the in the buttocks when they hunker down, man, it's
- 20:12Speaker 1: it's uh, you know, they can anchor. They've got anchor ability.
- 20:15Speaker 1: It's like it's like a big anchor. It's an anchor
- 20:18Speaker 1: off the Titanic. When the anchor man, it's hard to
- 20:20Speaker 1: get those guys. It's hard to move him out of gaps,
- 20:23Speaker 1: you know. But but along with that, when he does
- 20:26Speaker 1: that swim move, you know, as an offensive lineman, it's like, hey,
- 20:28Speaker 1: I gotta come off the ball and this guy. So
- 20:30Speaker 1: now you start coming off the ball. And then as
- 20:31Speaker 1: soon as he gets he has a feel that you're
- 20:34Speaker 1: really overextended to come off the ball to try to
- 20:36Speaker 1: get in, he'll give you that little swim move and
- 20:38Speaker 1: you're often space, you're fliling away. Those guys are a load, man,
- 20:42Speaker 1: They're hard to handle. So the Bengals have played on
- 20:45Speaker 1: Thursday night, They've played on Sunday night. Now they'll play
- 20:47Speaker 1: on Monday night next week on the road Monday in Cleveland.
- 20:50Speaker 1: The Browns still during the phase of the season where
- 20:53Speaker 1: they won't have Deshaun Watson Jacobi Prisette at quarterback. He's
- 20:57Speaker 1: been okay, but obviously it's a Brown's team that's led
- 21:00Speaker 1: by a tremendous offensive line and running game led by
- 21:03Speaker 1: Nick Chubb. Yeah, in the in the running game, it's
- 21:06Speaker 1: number one in the league, and it's more of your
- 21:08Speaker 1: conventional traditional running game. You know, they've got a two
- 21:11Speaker 1: headed monster at the at the running back position. But
- 21:14Speaker 1: Chubb leads the league and coming into today this weekend's
- 21:17Speaker 1: activity in terms of carries and yards and yards per
- 21:21Speaker 1: attempt based on you know, fifty carries and more or
- 21:24Speaker 1: whatever the case may be. Uh, non quarterback who might
- 21:28Speaker 1: have a better average per carry. But also I think
- 21:31Speaker 1: he had seven rushing touchdowns coming into this weekend's activity,
- 21:34Speaker 1: which also leads the league. So there that that is,
- 21:38Speaker 1: you got to be able to stop that running game
- 21:40Speaker 1: because they they'll play action off of that. And uh,
- 21:43Speaker 1: Jacoby Brissette is a veteran guy who normally takes care
- 21:47Speaker 1: of the football, doesn't make mistakes, and um, they're they're
- 21:51Speaker 1: gonna wait for you to make one and capitalize. They've
- 21:54Speaker 1: they've done a pretty good job. So it's going to
- 21:56Speaker 1: be tough up there. It always is. The Battle of
- 21:59Speaker 1: Ohio is real. That fan base. Uh, you know, Cincinnati
- 22:03Speaker 1: fans love to get after Cleveland. Cleveland loves to get
- 22:06Speaker 1: after Cincinnati. It's a it's a big division rival. Going
- 22:09Speaker 1: back to the man who founded both football teams, the
- 22:12Speaker 1: legendary Paul Brown and it will always be that way.
- 22:15Speaker 1: You know, Brown's week is always a week. I can
- 22:19Speaker 1: remember that so vividly as a player. And Mike McCormick,
- 22:22Speaker 1: the great offensive lineman for Paul Brown up there in Cleveland,
- 22:26Speaker 1: and he was a head coach in the NFL at
- 22:28Speaker 1: a few places. He was one of my offensive line coaches.
- 22:31Speaker 1: And whenever we would play to Cleveland, Brown's, boy, would
- 22:33Speaker 1: he get up in the bid. He was one of
- 22:34Speaker 1: Paul's captains, and he'd be like, man, then what's the
- 22:38Speaker 1: color of horse? Brown? Brown? Brown? The Bengals Booth Podcast
- 22:46Speaker 1: is presented by Kettering Health, the official healthcare provider of

- 23:01Speaker 1: org to learn more. Finally, it's time for this week's
- 23:05Speaker 1: Fun Facts interview, where you get to know the person
- 23:08Speaker 1: under the pads. Time for some fun facts with cornerback
- 23:12Speaker 1: Cam Taylor brit from Montgomery, Alabama. Describe where you grew
- 23:16Speaker 1: up where you're a country kid or a city kid?
- 23:18Speaker 1: More a country of anything. I stay. I used to
- 23:21Speaker 1: get stayed with my grandmother, so we stayed out in
- 23:23Speaker 1: a trailer where I mostly grew up through kindergarten through
- 23:29Speaker 1: maybe sixth grade. So it was a lot of fun,
- 23:32Speaker 1: especially just been out there in the woodness and the forest,
- 23:35Speaker 1: just going to like have fun out there. Honestly, just
- 23:38Speaker 1: playing in the woods. He wouldn't say that would be
- 23:41Speaker 1: a fun thing for a kid to do or where
- 23:43Speaker 1: to be, but that's what fun was to me. Montgomery
- 23:47Speaker 1: has been called the birthplace of the Civil Rights movement.
- 23:50Speaker 1: I know there's a Rosa Parks Museum there. Is that
- 23:53Speaker 1: a great point of pride for people from Montgomery most definitely,
- 23:56Speaker 1: especially with the history down there, and you also have
- 23:58Speaker 1: the Mordel of the Key Church right there close by
- 24:00Speaker 1: the capital downtown and it's very unique and just the
- 24:04Speaker 1: history down there, you guys, everybody knows about it, and
- 24:08Speaker 1: just to be from there, that's the first thing. People
- 24:10Speaker 1: you know, ask me, have you been there? Have you
- 24:12Speaker 1: seen this? And seen that? Yes? I have mean this.
- 24:15Speaker 1: It was a great joy for me to go because
- 24:17Speaker 1: I learned a lot, and especially about where I'm from.
- 24:20Speaker 1: We're visiting the cam Taylor Brett. You're obviously a great
- 24:23Speaker 1: athlete growing up, but it wasn't always easy. You had
- 24:26Speaker 1: serious knee injuries back to back years in high school.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Describe what happened. So, I was playing quarterback back at
- 24:33Speaker 1: Private High School a sophomore year, third game of the season,
- 24:38Speaker 1: it kind of just popped popped out of place. And
- 24:41Speaker 1: it did it two times previous before that, but I
- 24:44Speaker 1: was been a tough guy, kind of popped it back
- 24:46Speaker 1: in and that third time basically was the charm and
- 24:49Speaker 1: it didn't go back and that's when they told me
- 24:51Speaker 1: I tore my meniscus. So I went through, you know,
- 24:54Speaker 1: the rehab process, but I was so anxious to come back,
- 24:57Speaker 1: and I kind of rushed things most definitely just being young,
- 25:00Speaker 1: geting ready to you know, get back out there, come back.
- 25:03Speaker 1: My junior year, I'm playing, you know, the spring game.
- 25:05Speaker 1: That's a fast. I was able to come back and
- 25:08Speaker 1: get to the season and my junior year and third
- 25:11Speaker 1: MS season again. To be honest, it was heartbreaking and
- 25:16Speaker 1: devastating just had that same injury again, but it was
- 25:21Speaker 1: worth meniscus franctre patella ACL MCL, so basically blown out
- 25:26Speaker 1: the whole knee, and that's when I kind of wast
- 25:28Speaker 1: think you know football is over for me, but my
- 25:31Speaker 1: mom was always there my a one day one she
- 25:34Speaker 1: was like God to ask you, don't don't you worry.
- 25:37Speaker 1: No one would forget about you. You know, you continue
- 25:39Speaker 1: to be you, and you know, continue to go out
- 25:42Speaker 1: there and play your hardest and you'll be just fine.
- 25:45Speaker 1: And so I really took rehab series that next year.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I kind of can't make it around the same time,
- 25:50Speaker 1: but it was very intense, you know, as far as
- 25:52Speaker 1: the rehab. I was in there five days a week,
- 25:55Speaker 1: and I would making sure that I was doing everything
- 25:57Speaker 1: possible that these people, you know, trainers told me to do,
- 26:00Speaker 1: and they worked out for the best. We're visiting with
- 26:03Speaker 1: Cam Taylor Brett. So you became a first team All
- 26:06Speaker 1: state quarterback as a high school senior once you're knee healed,
- 26:10Speaker 1: but you weren't a quarterback by choice, correct, not at all.
- 26:14Speaker 1: I've always been a team guy and that's to this day.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Whatever team needs, if I can do it, I'm doing
- 26:19Speaker 1: it to the best of my ability. And that's what
- 26:22Speaker 1: it kind of was, you know, throughout high school and
- 26:24Speaker 1: I started playing quarterback eighth grade. We had our quarterback
- 26:28Speaker 1: was too short can see over the line. So they
- 26:31Speaker 1: were like, we need somebody to play it, and you know,
- 26:33Speaker 1: I volunteered and made it happen. And that's what kind
- 26:36Speaker 1: of happened throughout high school for us to win. And
- 26:39Speaker 1: that's what I did. So you went to Nebraska and
- 26:42Speaker 1: spent four years with the corn Huskers. For people who
- 26:45Speaker 1: don't know, describe what it's like to be a Husker
- 26:48Speaker 1: in that state. Honestly, they treat you like you're an
- 26:52Speaker 1: NFL player already. And I say, that's the great thing
- 26:56Speaker 1: about Nebraska is there's nothing there far as in field
- 27:00Speaker 1: teams or anything. It's Nebraska football. And when I say,
- 27:02Speaker 1: people grow up wanted to play for the Huskers from birth.
- 27:06Speaker 1: And that's how it really isn't I didn't get that
- 27:08Speaker 1: when I first got up there until you know, I
- 27:11Speaker 1: really got around the people there, and that was the
- 27:14Speaker 1: main reason that I did go, just because how amazing
- 27:16Speaker 1: the fans were. Even before I got there, before I
- 27:19Speaker 1: even thought about signing there, they were already, you know,
- 27:22Speaker 1: just being themselves, and honestly, I wouldn't have chose anywhere else.
- 27:28Speaker 1: I'm a sucker for an emotional draft night video, and
- 27:32Speaker 1: yours was great. You're on the couch you're surrounded by
- 27:34Speaker 1: loved ones when you got the call from Zach. Taylor
- 27:37Speaker 1: described that moment and what it meant to you. I
- 27:40Speaker 1: was just in all, honestly there, I couldn't speak. I
- 27:45Speaker 1: knew I would get the call, and like I was preparing,
- 27:49Speaker 1: you know, the night before. You know, what would I
- 27:51Speaker 1: say of this coach calls? It kind of all went
- 27:54Speaker 1: out the window with Coach Taylor call, and I was
- 27:57Speaker 1: honestly just ready to get to work, like I said,
- 28:00Speaker 1: as this opportunity. You know, a lot of people, especially
- 28:02Speaker 1: when I'm from them, get this opportunity. So I'm not
- 28:04Speaker 1: taking it for granted at all, and you know, basically
- 28:06Speaker 1: doing it for the ones back home. We're doing fun
- 28:09Speaker 1: facts with Cam Taylor Bread. I watched a great video
- 28:11Speaker 1: that was done when you were at Nebraska. They take
- 28:14Speaker 1: you inside your dorm room or campus apartment, whatever it was,
- 28:17Speaker 1: and on the wall he had a series of photos
- 28:20Speaker 1: of loved ones who had passed away. How HASNA shaped
- 28:23Speaker 1: you shaved me in a major way, honestly, because that's
- 28:27Speaker 1: what I do it for, like I said, for the
- 28:29Speaker 1: people who aren't here, and also for the people who
- 28:31Speaker 1: can't do it for themselves. In the hospital as far
- 28:34Speaker 1: as like you no patients, you know, kids, anybody, it's
- 28:38Speaker 1: bigger than me. And they played a huge role and
- 28:43Speaker 1: what I am today as far as just a man,
- 28:47Speaker 1: they played a huge role. Like I said, my grandmother
- 28:49Speaker 1: was up there. Her brother, which is her twin, he
- 28:52Speaker 1: was up there, and he was there early on in
- 28:54Speaker 1: my life. And I have John Neil. She's taded on
- 28:57Speaker 1: my chest actually, and that's my outhood friends. Mom and
- 29:02Speaker 1: his mom and my mom were like best friends. And
- 29:06Speaker 1: it was crazy because they looked like twins as well,
- 29:09Speaker 1: and so you know, I just really, you know, I
- 29:13Speaker 1: was looking up to them as I grew up, and
- 29:15Speaker 1: they showed me the way, you know, to be me
- 29:19Speaker 1: and I appreciate them more than ever. You legally changed
- 29:23Speaker 1: your last name a few years ago and added Brett,
- 29:26Speaker 1: so typhonated Taylor Brett to honor your stepfather. I was
- 29:30Speaker 1: raised by his stepfather. Why did you feel that was
- 29:32Speaker 1: important to him? Honestly because he stepped in and did
- 29:36Speaker 1: everything the right way and showed me the right way
- 29:39Speaker 1: to a lot of things. I was I want to
- 29:42Speaker 1: say I was a trouble kid at all, but I
- 29:44Speaker 1: didn't have you know, anger issues, or something like that.
- 29:46Speaker 1: You could say where you know, they used to call
- 29:49Speaker 1: me besmode. I would get mad and I would just
- 29:52Speaker 1: have a touchdown and really just turn around and run
- 29:55Speaker 1: somebody over just to go and do that. And you know,
- 29:59Speaker 1: he just talked me a lot of ways about life
- 30:01Speaker 1: and just the seriousness of certain situations, like just watching
- 30:06Speaker 1: my surroundings. I would have never known that, honestly. You know,
- 30:09Speaker 1: anywhere I go, I'm peeping the scene. And that was
- 30:12Speaker 1: one thing that you gotta taught me, you know, just
- 30:14Speaker 1: reading people as well. And you know, I appreciate him
- 30:18Speaker 1: more than ever as well, because you know, I didn't
- 30:20Speaker 1: have my you know, biological father at home, so just
- 30:23Speaker 1: to have that father figure at home or you know
- 30:25Speaker 1: it really you know, helped me out in a major way.
- 30:29Speaker 1: A few wild card topics. Now for cam Taylor, Brent,
- 30:32Speaker 1: do you have any hidden talents? I don't know if
- 30:34Speaker 1: it's hidden. I like two k I say this in
- 30:36Speaker 1: all my interviews, but I might have to go on
- 30:39Speaker 1: Twitch just to show the fans and everybody. But yeah,
- 30:42Speaker 1: that's that's kind of my hobby. Honestly. If I'm not
- 30:45Speaker 1: watching film or in the stadium or anything, I'm on
- 30:47Speaker 1: the game, playing two K with you know, some of
- 30:49Speaker 1: my teammates, and so I don't get away from those
- 30:53Speaker 1: guys even at home. So that's that's about it. I
- 30:55Speaker 1: could sing just a little bit. And I grew up
- 30:57Speaker 1: in the church. If I didn't sing in the choir, Manana,
- 31:01Speaker 1: you know, she wouldn't have it. You're getting in the choir.
- 31:04Speaker 1: So that's how it was from me growing up. Do
- 31:06Speaker 1: you want to give us an example. I'll think about
- 31:09Speaker 1: another time. Pharrendoff. Who is your all time favorite athlete
- 31:14Speaker 1: in any sport and why? Lebron James and I kind
- 31:18Speaker 1: of looked up to him my whole life, just the
- 31:21Speaker 1: way he handles life itself. You don't hear anything bad
- 31:26Speaker 1: about Lebron. And he has a beautiful, happy family, which
- 31:31Speaker 1: he shows off all the time. He's always been a
- 31:34Speaker 1: team player. He's a leader, and that's what you know,
- 31:39Speaker 1: I want to be, you know, and I try to be.
- 31:41Speaker 1: I see, he's very vocal. They just came out with
- 31:43Speaker 1: the Radeem team on Netflix. I sat there and watched
- 31:47Speaker 1: the whole thing from beginning to end. May go watch
- 31:49Speaker 1: it again tonight, just because the impact that he had
- 31:52Speaker 1: on the team, especially you know him and Kobe Bryant,
- 31:54Speaker 1: and for Kobe to say, you know, and to speak
- 31:58Speaker 1: to speak on Lebron as highly as he did, I
- 32:02Speaker 1: see that I have a good role model. And you
- 32:05Speaker 1: know that's that's basically lived last thing. And this is
- 32:08Speaker 1: kind of deep. If you could meet anybody in history, athlete, actor, statesman,
- 32:14Speaker 1: whoever it might be, who would that person be. Maybe
- 32:19Speaker 1: Muhammad Ali. And I say that just because we've watched
- 32:23Speaker 1: multiple videos of him, good and bad, you know, but
- 32:27Speaker 1: he always has that same attitude and it doesn't change
- 32:32Speaker 1: whether he's in a fight or whether he's basically sitting
- 32:36Speaker 1: right here with us. It doesn't change. And I love
- 32:39Speaker 1: that about him. Man. It's crazy to me like that
- 32:43Speaker 1: I can't even speak to him, you know. But if
