- 0:56Speaker 3: it's good to see you. Man. How's first of all,
- 1:00Speaker 3: we're talking about this little bit. You're obviously kind of
- 1:02Speaker 3: it's been twenty five years since you got convicted.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Well, no, it's it's well, we're in March, right, Yeah,
- 1:08Speaker 1: you're right, you're right. Yeah, yeah, it's not an anniversary
- 1:13Speaker 1: I can to remember.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Right, But I mean, really, twenty five years since kind
- 1:17Speaker 3: of your entire career and we began to know you,
- 1:21Speaker 3: you know, with the debut album.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Well, yeah, twenty five years since the Shan album came
- 1:25Speaker 1: out self titled Debut twenty six. We were just talking
- 1:30Speaker 1: off about the time period between March sixteenth, two thousand
- 1:37Speaker 1: and one, when I was you know, oh so yeah,
- 1:41Speaker 1: wrongfully convicted, held in captivity, how I literally had the
- 1:46Speaker 1: album dropped September twenty sixth, two thousand.
- 1:48Speaker 3: So coming up in September, it's twenty five years.
- 1:51Speaker 1: No, no, no, we're in the twenty five years. Oh yeah,
- 1:53Speaker 1: we're in twenty twenty six. I keep thinking, yeah, but
- 1:58Speaker 1: I'm celebrating until we get to September twenty six, twenty six,
- 2:05Speaker 1: which is coming out. That's a good number six, twenty six. Well,
- 2:09Speaker 1: here we were talking about how in you know, September
- 2:12Speaker 1: twenty sixth, twenty thousand, two, Guys, yeah, you had two thousand.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I'm sorry you had October, November, December, January. I was
- 2:25Speaker 1: picking the jury February. I was on trial. In March sixteenth,
- 2:31Speaker 1: two thousand and one. I was wrongfully convicted. So I
- 2:35Speaker 1: never got a chance to come here. I never got
- 2:37Speaker 1: a chance to perform, which is crazy day, which I'm
- 2:41Speaker 1: looking forward to because you know, we launching the world
- 2:45Speaker 1: tour may Tewid King standa Brooklyn, New York, where I
- 2:49Speaker 1: was born. I literally was born blocks were not born.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I was born in Belize, but we had my hip
- 2:55Speaker 1: hop career was born. Yeah. I came to America when
- 2:58Speaker 1: I was eight years old, but where I grew up,
- 3:01Speaker 1: literally the kingstad is blocks away. So yeah, I look
- 3:06Speaker 1: forward to performing here in La uh in a few months.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Talk to me man, because you obviously you've had such
- 3:15Speaker 3: an interesting journey. You know, we'll get to what ended up,
- 3:20Speaker 3: what happened that made you go sit down, but even
- 3:22Speaker 3: just the idea of like being someone incarcerated and still
- 3:26Speaker 3: captivating old hip hop media at the time. We talked
- 3:30Speaker 3: about how he was on the cover of three of
- 3:31Speaker 3: these things while he was locked up.
- 3:34Speaker 1: The Vibe magazine and I was on I was not
- 3:37Speaker 1: just on the Vibe magazine.
- 3:38Speaker 3: It was on the Source three double XL hold on,
- 3:41Speaker 3: I was.
- 3:41Speaker 1: On the Juice cover of the Vibe magazine. Now, let
- 3:44Speaker 1: me tell you who were on the Juice cover. A
- 3:47Speaker 1: gentleman by the name of uh Barack Obama, a gentleman
- 3:52Speaker 1: by the name of Michael Jackson Crazy, and a gentleman
- 3:56Speaker 1: by the name of Tupac Crazy. And another gentleman by
- 4:00Speaker 1: the name of Notrri's b I G. I think they
- 4:02Speaker 1: in different years. Yeah, they did the Juice cover, which
- 4:06Speaker 1: is the biggest cover. So definitely, I was a mythical creature.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Yeah, you had this mythical allure while you were incarcerated
- 4:14Speaker 3: in it. And you know, I even remember the bidding
- 4:18Speaker 3: war that was talked about while in so you were
- 4:21Speaker 3: in jail because I think your deal with bad Boy
- 4:23Speaker 3: was up in like.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Two Well, no, sure that I felt, man, you know,
- 4:28Speaker 1: of course, it took my life, took my life, you know, I.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Mean, and I remember there was like a point in
- 4:35Speaker 3: time where there was a lot of rumors that maybe
- 4:37Speaker 3: You're gonna go murder inc or you were gonna go.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yeah, God, bless God, bless irv Gotti and Sol rest
- 4:44Speaker 1: in peace. They definitely came through to Rykers Allen when
- 4:49Speaker 1: I was down there fighting my pill. I got to
- 4:53Speaker 1: give you know, credit to fifty cent as well. He
- 4:57Speaker 1: reached out. He was trying to do the g anything
- 5:00Speaker 1: him and Shaw Money XL, So he definitely wanted to
- 5:02Speaker 1: sign me. Doctor Dre, Doctor Math approached me to do
- 5:08Speaker 1: a record with a young gentleman by the name of
- 5:13Speaker 1: the Game for the documentary album. But then my guy,
- 5:17Speaker 1: who's a big time Hollywood execu out here now Imani Helly.
- 5:22Speaker 1: At the time he was in the music he was
- 5:24Speaker 1: managing a young California a union by the name of
- 5:29Speaker 1: Keisha Cole Okay right from the Bay right, And I
- 5:33Speaker 1: had to make a choice between Dre and my child friend,
- 5:37Speaker 1: and so I had to go with Manny, right, I
- 5:39Speaker 1: had to. I had to go with my friend. But
- 5:41Speaker 1: everybody Jay jay Z pulled up to Rykers Allen and
- 5:44Speaker 1: the mayback, everybody wanted to sign.

- 7:20Speaker 3: obviously this is jay Z early two thousands.
- 7:22Speaker 1: He's still Hove, right, but he's over.
- 7:24Speaker 3: But but you know, twenty twenty six, we look at
- 7:27Speaker 3: jay Z like he's this mythical figure that he's like,
- 7:30Speaker 3: but you know, he was signing people.
- 7:32Speaker 1: He was he was always he was always a mythical.
- 7:35Speaker 2: I'm curious, what's the what's the visit.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I'm not going to hold you. He was always a
- 7:38Speaker 1: mythical creature from five to sixty State Street, like Hove's
- 7:43Speaker 1: always hole. Obviously he's billionaire Hove now and he's he's inactive,
- 7:50Speaker 1: although I saw some some rumors saying that he's working
- 7:53Speaker 1: on I just saw this too.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's about time. It's good a minute.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I love the way I announced
- 7:59Speaker 1: my album. Was just talking to Cam Killer Cam and
- 8:05Speaker 1: Mace Murder. Mace. He was just on the phone because
- 8:09Speaker 1: you know Mace, that's my guy. You know, we came
- 8:11Speaker 1: up together. He was uh, he was it was the shack.
- 8:14Speaker 1: He was the shack. He was the shack. Yeah, and
- 8:17Speaker 1: I was the Kobe that just came to the team.
- 8:19Speaker 1: But we were just talking. And you know when I did,
- 8:22Speaker 1: I talked to Cam. We had done some media back
- 8:29Speaker 1: in September because I had just gotten you know, my
- 8:31Speaker 1: work papers, so I couldn't, you know, start the tours,
- 8:35Speaker 1: start anything. But I came on the day the album
- 8:38Speaker 1: was released just to make the announcement that it's coming,
- 8:41Speaker 1: the tours coming, the albums are coming. So just for
- 8:44Speaker 1: the record, I was there September twenty sixth visualizing the
- 8:49Speaker 1: new albums which is coming end of the year. Right
- 8:54Speaker 1: the lineup, I can imagine the lineup. I mean, I
- 8:57Speaker 1: just got off the phone. My little brother, hit Boy
- 9:00Speaker 1: shot to hit Man, you're in l A. I just
- 9:02Speaker 1: got off the phone. I've been trying to catch up
- 9:04Speaker 1: with him. But you know how it is, numbers changed.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Everybody needs you to drag just blaze from wherever he is.
- 9:10Speaker 1: You know I was thinking about just what is just?
- 9:12Speaker 1: I have no idea, but that's one of your favorite
- 9:15Speaker 1: songs right down. T is my favorite chine Yeah, yeah,
- 9:19Speaker 1: thank you man, thank you. My favorites too. Well. We
- 9:22Speaker 1: got to find out with Justice and I'm gonna put him.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I'm gonna put you on that. I'm gonna put I'm
- 9:27Speaker 1: gonna ask Lenny, Yes, I'm Lenny will probably be here
- 9:30Speaker 1: for now.
- 9:31Speaker 3: I saw you talking that the new new project. You've
- 9:34Speaker 3: gotten some working with him? Right?
- 9:35Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, listen, man, I was, I was in Miami.
- 9:40Speaker 1: I just came from Miami. You know, I had to
- 9:42Speaker 1: plug Belieze, but I just came from Miami.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Man cooking?
- 9:50Speaker 1: How many?
- 9:50Speaker 3: How many songs you think it got done so far
- 9:52Speaker 3: for this project?
- 9:53Speaker 1: Now? I got three albums, you got three. But the
- 9:55Speaker 1: way I make my albums is the music first. Yeah,
- 10:01Speaker 1: I don't I don't physically write rhymes. I create in
- 10:05Speaker 1: my in my mind. But I only create based on
- 10:09Speaker 1: the music.
- 10:10Speaker 3: So you're gonna pull, you pull the music together for
- 10:12Speaker 3: each project and then and then I start recording.
- 10:15Speaker 1: That makes sense right, So so yeah, so I got
- 10:18Speaker 1: my three albums worth for material. Yeah, pretty much I'm
- 10:23Speaker 1: closing out now, so I need that. I need that
- 10:26Speaker 1: a West Coast bounce, get it hit boy, right, I
- 10:29Speaker 1: need like d god bless you know, he's like in
- 10:35Speaker 1: the ether. So I got my best record so far
- 10:40Speaker 1: it is with him. But doctor, I got so many
- 10:43Speaker 1: crazy records.
- 10:45Speaker 3: What is it like? Because for you man like.
- 10:47Speaker 1: But let me tie tie that back into We asked
- 10:49Speaker 1: me what it was like when Hove came to see Yeah,
- 10:52Speaker 1: so all that I just explained to you is a
- 10:56Speaker 1: diamond that Hove gave me when he came to see
- 11:00Speaker 1: me on rykers Allen because he was also the president
- 11:02Speaker 1: of Death Jam at the time. So we were going
- 11:05Speaker 1: over the Godfather Buried Alive album, yes with death Jam,
- 11:11Speaker 1: so you know, he came to pay his respects as
- 11:13Speaker 1: a president and that what what was that conversation Like
- 11:20Speaker 1: that conversation was him telling me about him meeting with
- 11:24Speaker 1: Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones and them explaining to him
- 11:29Speaker 1: the process of thriller. And that's what that's the mentality
- 11:36Speaker 1: that he wanted me to apply to the upcoming projects.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Right after, you know, Godfather Baried Alive was done. I
- 11:44Speaker 1: believe he already released it. But moving forward. He was like, listen,
- 11:49Speaker 1: the process that Mike and Quincy gave me was that
- 11:53Speaker 1: every so they do beat It, then they do Billy Jeans,
- 12:01Speaker 1: then to be like, Okay, we gotta do Thriller. Then
- 12:04Speaker 1: we just every record had to be a record bigger,
- 12:09Speaker 1: better or competitive.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Yeah, like you're competing against yourself the last record.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Yeah, right, so it's like you're looking So it's like,
- 12:18Speaker 1: that's what I'm doing right now. Like the record. I
- 12:19Speaker 1: really got to thank Dre, you know him and his team.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I got Smitty.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Smitty's great writer too.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Smitty's incredible, and you know, just going to sit down
- 12:31Speaker 1: with Dre, there's so much for my mental space as
- 12:37Speaker 1: far as you know, you know what you have to offer,
- 12:41Speaker 1: you know what you came to do. But I literally
- 12:42Speaker 1: wrote this down a year ago. When I lost my
- 12:45Speaker 1: seat in the House of Representatives, I came up with
- 12:48Speaker 1: a plan. I said, well, listen, I had no idea
- 12:51Speaker 1: that would happen, but I said, what am I going
- 12:53Speaker 1: to do? And I said, you know what is my
- 12:56Speaker 1: twenty fifth anniversary coming up in September. I need a tour.
- 13:00Speaker 1: I had promised when I was in the House Representeds
- 13:03Speaker 1: when my documentary came out the Honorable Shine on Hulu.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Go see that if you haven't seen it. I had
- 13:09Speaker 1: promised the Honorable album, but I just couldn't do it
- 13:14Speaker 1: because I was gayer people serving my people right, and
- 13:19Speaker 1: I never want to. I never want to to short
- 13:24Speaker 1: or to to to disadvantage my supporters and give them less.
- 13:32Speaker 1: You want to serve.
- 13:33Speaker 3: If who are elect you to do something, you gotta
- 13:35Speaker 3: give them.
- 13:36Speaker 1: But then I'm talking about my audience. I'm talking about
- 13:39Speaker 1: my music, and the.
- 13:42Speaker 3: People turn the music, because then you're gonna put out
- 13:46Speaker 3: some ship and people might be like.
- 13:47Speaker 1: People, and the people of Beliefs come first. To this day,
- 13:51Speaker 1: they still come first. And all of these things you see,
- 13:54Speaker 1: I'm here, I'm talking everybody, visit Belize, this camera, that camera, Paradise.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Make sure you visit Belize. But so I couldn't create
- 14:05Speaker 1: greatness because I was so focused on creating solutions for
- 14:09Speaker 1: the people of believes But when I lost my seat,
- 14:12Speaker 1: I said, you know what.
- 14:13Speaker 3: I need to do to get to the curse.
- 14:16Speaker 1: I need to do the honorable shit. I need to
- 14:20Speaker 1: tourist my twenty fifth anniversary. And I always said that
- 14:23Speaker 1: if I were to return to the stage, it would
- 14:25Speaker 1: have to be something special, like performing at the Grammys,
- 14:29Speaker 1: a getting some type of lifetime achievement award. Once more
- 14:32Speaker 1: special than twenty five years. Right, Not too many people
- 14:35Speaker 1: get to celebrate twenty five years. So I wrote down
- 14:40Speaker 1: back in March year ago. Actually actually gonna be two
- 14:45Speaker 1: days since I lost my seat, March twelfth, March tenth. Yeah,
- 14:49Speaker 1: it's gonna be a year. But I wrote down. I
- 14:52Speaker 1: wrote down doctor Dre, Timberland Swiss beats for I had
- 15:00Speaker 1: just blaze DJ Khaled, you got you got it?
- 15:05Speaker 3: Oh man, that's man, that's that's also a hard thing
- 15:12Speaker 3: to do.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Listen, listen, I'm so, I'm so blessed. Yeah, I'm so blessed.
- 15:17Speaker 1: But but so I got in with with nine of
- 15:21Speaker 1: the people closing up with it. I need to see Alchemists.
- 15:26Speaker 3: You gotta get with Alchemists, no Id and Mustard and
- 15:31Speaker 3: and I'm done, you right, the gotta happen.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I'm done. Yeah, so uh, but but going to see Dre,
- 15:41Speaker 1: like I said, I never met Dre, but I just said, listen,
- 15:46Speaker 1: I'm getting on the plane. You know my god, Manny
- 15:48Speaker 1: I told you he's out here. Yeah, Hollywood, exec stay
- 15:52Speaker 1: at the crib. He got the studio in the in
- 15:54Speaker 1: the house, and I'm like, yo, I gotta give Big Boy.
- 15:59Speaker 1: That's my guy. You know. I went on on his
- 16:03Speaker 1: show and he was like, Yo, let's go to Snoop party.
- 16:07Speaker 1: That's where we met Smitty. So everything came together. Big
- 16:11Speaker 1: was hitting Dre like, Yo, Sean wanted to see you.
- 16:14Speaker 1: I never met him, but I had him number one
- 16:17Speaker 1: on my list for the Shane album and we met
- 16:21Speaker 1: first on some leader Leader the leader that was the
- 16:25Speaker 1: energy because you know, he's doing incredible things and Compton
- 16:28Speaker 1: and you know, building two hundred million dollar educational compounds,
- 16:32Speaker 1: and so he saw what I was doing and belize
- 16:35Speaker 1: and as a leader, he respected that and appreciated that.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Once we talked, he was like, let's go downstairs and
- 16:43Speaker 1: I could do I could listen. I picked because I
- 16:48Speaker 1: like to do ten song albums already, I picked by
- 16:51Speaker 1: ten joints with him. But you know, with him, it's
- 16:54Speaker 1: going to be a process for sure. So I got
- 16:58Speaker 1: the few joints that's gonna go this way, and then
- 17:03Speaker 1: you know, if we finish an entire project together. Yeah,
- 17:06Speaker 1: while you're just but just just sitting in the studio
- 17:11Speaker 1: listening to dre beats, coming up with rhythms and melodies
- 17:15Speaker 1: and you know, set offs and just knowing that you're
- 17:19Speaker 1: recording something for dre to hear. Really, you know Boostman
- 17:25Speaker 1: and Smitty. You know, Smitty's like the barber shop. He
- 17:29Speaker 1: gonna tell you, he gonna tell you if it ain't hitting,
- 17:31Speaker 1: he gonna tell you right if you know, you need
- 17:33Speaker 1: to tighten it up before you even get to the doctor.
- 17:36Speaker 1: And like I said, you know, then making my rounds,
- 17:39Speaker 1: going to Rez, you know, going to Timbo Swiss. It
- 17:46Speaker 1: really is a dream come true.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Do you feel like because obviously you get elected in
- 17:50Speaker 3: twenty twenty, right, and you know, I'm not sure how
- 17:56Speaker 3: active you've been in the studio.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Did it? Does it take a while? Meaning like, oh man, listen, listen.
- 18:02Speaker 1: You gotta remember when I was in the House of Representatives,
- 18:05Speaker 1: I was spitting bars. You listen to my speeches. I'm
- 18:09Speaker 1: speaking on behalf of the people. When you put speeches together,
- 18:13Speaker 1: you gotta have an intro, you gotta have a build up.
- 18:17Speaker 1: You gotta know there's an art to speech, and then
- 18:20Speaker 1: you got to have a close right, and then you
- 18:23Speaker 1: got to deliver that. You can't just write the speech
- 18:26Speaker 1: you have to you have to deliver that. And so yeah,
- 18:29Speaker 1: you can hear the baritone, you you can feel the
- 18:33Speaker 1: energy and uh yeah, just pass me the ball game
- 18:37Speaker 1: on the line.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Talk to me, man, because uh, you have to have
- 18:42Speaker 3: seen like there's the you always see so many I
- 18:44Speaker 3: mean there's been so many TV shows and move we
- 18:48Speaker 3: see the dark side of politics kind of brought to
- 18:50Speaker 3: life so much.
- 18:52Speaker 1: For you.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Man. Was there a situation where you're going through throwing
- 18:58Speaker 3: your hat into the political ring where you realize, like, oh,
- 19:00Speaker 3: this is a dirty game because the politic game is
- 19:03Speaker 3: it's it might be more grammer than the rap game.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it's definitely neck and neck.
- 19:10Speaker 3: It's very cutthroat.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's worse than the music industry because
- 19:16Speaker 1: at least with the music industry there were certain unwritten rules,
- 19:21Speaker 1: right and you know, nineteen year old shining, twenty year
- 19:25Speaker 1: old shine back in that time. I don't know what
- 19:26Speaker 1: these young kids are doing. I don't encourage them to
- 19:30Speaker 1: do anything that is not law abiden, because it's not
- 19:34Speaker 1: worth it. I lost ten years in my life. I
- 19:36Speaker 1: was defending myself and you know, took the fall. However,
- 19:42Speaker 1: at least there are these rules where you know that
- 19:46Speaker 1: if you violate somebody, it's gonna end bad. In politics,
- 19:54Speaker 1: it's not the same rules at least, and belize because
- 19:58Speaker 1: they the way that they're moving, it's like they'll force you.
- 20:03Speaker 1: They'll force you to the limit. They'll force you to
- 20:06Speaker 1: jump out the window, no parachute, and just risk it
- 20:09Speaker 1: all because of the unethical, despicable, you know, behavior of
- 20:17Speaker 1: some of my political colleagues. Right, But I had to
- 20:19Speaker 1: make a choice and say, you know what, I'm not
- 20:22Speaker 1: going to do that to my democracy. We've had a
- 20:26Speaker 1: peaceful democracy thus far, despite the behavior of some of
- 20:30Speaker 1: my colleagues, and I'm not going to be the one
- 20:34Speaker 1: to turn Beliez's democracy upside down. I took my lick.
- 20:38Speaker 1: I learned. I know how to move smarter and sharper
- 20:42Speaker 1: and more efficient the next time around when elections are
- 20:46Speaker 1: called in a couple of years, And thank god, I
- 20:49Speaker 1: could go forward living my dream. Not too many people
- 20:55Speaker 1: could come to La and go to Dre's house, right,
- 21:00Speaker 1: not not too many people. I'm gonna go left right now,
- 21:04Speaker 1: my boy pooh Bed, I'm gonna go left right his birthday, birthday,
- 21:11Speaker 1: all right, No, No, I mean listen, my brother went
- 21:15Speaker 1: one of the best, right, just justin Bieber, one of
- 21:17Speaker 1: the greatest. Go so you know, because you know, I
- 21:20Speaker 1: need to talk to my lady friends, I need to
- 21:22Speaker 1: talk to the women everything Mane and shine exactly right.
- 21:26Speaker 1: So so so you know I'm gonna go see him
- 21:28Speaker 1: in a little bit.
- 21:29Speaker 3: So when you see him, he'll tell you. He'll hit
- 21:31Speaker 3: you with the happy birthday all right. Yeah, he tells
- 21:33Speaker 3: everyone happy birthday because he's like, hey, we.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Were supposed to get together in Miami, but he got
- 21:37Speaker 1: stuck in Paris. Great, I told him I was out here,
- 21:40Speaker 1: so yeah, man, like, like that is a that is
- 21:43Speaker 1: a blessing. I'm so fortunate and uh and yeah. So
- 21:47Speaker 1: I made the right choice by taking that ll politically,
- 21:51Speaker 1: not resorting to anything other because I'm in the courts
- 21:53Speaker 1: right now trying to get my damages back because they
- 21:56Speaker 1: defrauded me. So I lost millions of dollars belize and belieze. Yeah.
- 22:02Speaker 1: But but but I went to the courts. You know,
- 22:03Speaker 1: I got the lawyer I got. I gotta pay homage
- 22:06Speaker 1: to my lawyer. He's the principal of the Norman Manly
- 22:09Speaker 1: Law School in Jamaica. He took my case and he
- 22:13Speaker 1: fought for me. We were victorious, and so now it's
- 22:15Speaker 1: about getting damages because I lost millions of dollars. Well,
- 22:20Speaker 1: the the the people that try to overthrow me. What
- 22:25Speaker 1: they did is they created their own bootleg cave show.
- 22:31Speaker 1: And so they had somebody put on the Indian hat,
- 22:33Speaker 1: set the whole thing up and say, you know, well
- 22:36Speaker 1: we we the real bootleg cave. And so while we
- 22:39Speaker 1: had him in court, the judge didn't put a restraining
- 22:43Speaker 1: order on them and tell him, listen, you can't keep
- 22:46Speaker 1: saying that your bootleg calve right. But what he did
- 22:49Speaker 1: is he kicked them out of the building, told him that,
- 22:50Speaker 1: you know, they can't be in the building. It was
- 22:53Speaker 1: just that was fraud. That was fraud. That was by
- 22:57Speaker 1: them saying that, by her saying that she was the leader,
- 23:01Speaker 1: because you were the leader of the opposition, leader of
- 23:03Speaker 1: the opposition. But then we had another person saying that
- 23:05Speaker 1: she was the leader of the party and putting forward
- 23:09Speaker 1: candidates in the general election. So we had a duplicate slate.
- 23:12Speaker 1: We're splitting the vote, splitting the vote. Listen. In my mind,
- 23:15Speaker 1: they were probably being funded.
- 23:16Speaker 3: By the other side.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Ah, you're a brilliant jennerer.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Because if you could split one side of the vote,
- 23:23Speaker 3: then you're gonna win every time, exactly.
- 23:25Speaker 1: And so what happened is I got nine hundred and
- 23:28Speaker 1: odd votes in two thousand and twenty. We got the
- 23:33Speaker 1: same amount of votes in twenty twenty five. But the
- 23:37Speaker 1: person that duplicated that defrauded the people, he got the
- 23:41Speaker 1: majority of the nine hundred, exactly nine hundred what we
- 23:45Speaker 1: got in twenty twenty because people never voted any other
- 23:48Speaker 1: color but red in that constituency. Right. So yeah, but
- 23:52Speaker 1: like I said, so is worse than anything I've ever
- 23:57Speaker 1: been in. But the the reward as far as changing
- 24:02Speaker 1: people's lives, as far as when I made my first
- 24:06Speaker 1: two albums, I was a youth crying out to the
- 24:10Speaker 1: system to save me, to help me, to give me
- 24:12Speaker 1: an alternative. To be in a position of creating systems,
- 24:17Speaker 1: creating societies, creating economies, Yeah, creating opportunities for young shine
- 24:24Speaker 1: boy or girl. There's nothing more rewarding than that. And
- 24:28Speaker 1: so that's going to be a commitment I have for
- 24:31Speaker 1: the rest of my life. We got to give a
- 24:32Speaker 1: shout out to our new sponsor, Raffie Law Group.
- 24:35Speaker 3: Listen, I don't partner with just anybody, and if you're
- 24:38Speaker 3: from Arizona, all my az people who are watching y'all know,
- 24:41Speaker 3: call Raffi. Raffi Raffi Law Group. They treat you like family,
- 24:46Speaker 3: which is why I decided to partner with that man.
- 24:49Speaker 3: It only makes sense. The best law group in as.
- 24:53Speaker 3: They've helped over seventy thousand folks in Arizona and listen,
- 24:56Speaker 3: it's pretty easy. Whatever happens, car accidents, ca crashes, injuries, whatever,
- 25:01Speaker 3: they handle it. My wife actually got into an accident,
- 25:04Speaker 3: this was like five or six years ago. They handled
- 25:08Speaker 3: her case, she got paid out. It was super painless,
- 25:11Speaker 3: it was super seamless. The team was incredible. And when
- 25:15Speaker 3: I tell you, man, it's like a real family atmosphere
- 25:17Speaker 3: over there. This is not like just some random billboard
- 25:19Speaker 3: lawyer or some bus stop lawyer. No, it's a real team,
- 25:22Speaker 3: all right. So make sure you go support Raffie Law Group.
- 25:24Speaker 3: And don't forget you're get into an accident, any sort
- 25:27Speaker 3: of personal injury, car crash, whatever, make sure you call
- 25:31Speaker 3: RAFFI right now. Six three three eight eight forty three
- 25:34Speaker 3: thirty three. That's six three three eight eight four three
- 25:37Speaker 3: three three call RAFFI. Can you give me man, cause
- 25:42Speaker 3: I always wonder you've been through so much. If you
- 25:44Speaker 3: could go back and give eighteen nineteen year old Shane
- 25:47Speaker 3: any any advice outside of maybe avoiding a certain night,
- 25:51Speaker 3: What advice would you give the guy who, uh you know,
- 25:57Speaker 3: who was who was rough around the edges, who came from.
- 25:59Speaker 1: The So a little bit more humility, do more? Say less? Yeah,
- 26:07Speaker 1: a little bit more humility. Humility goes a long way.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Do you feel like.
- 26:14Speaker 3: It's it's really hard to lose ten years of your
- 26:17Speaker 3: life and get on the other side of that and
- 26:19Speaker 3: and find like silver lining in that. But I imagine
- 26:23Speaker 3: you kind of have to to keep going right, like
- 26:26Speaker 3: you get on the other side of that, Like is
- 26:28Speaker 3: there is there silver lining? Obviously you were able to
- 26:33Speaker 3: help your people, You're still relevant, you're still here. But
- 26:37Speaker 3: you know, I can only imagine like the mental toll
- 26:39Speaker 3: sitting there being you know what is the silver lining?
- 26:42Speaker 1: I got I gotta tell you. I got to tell
- 26:44Speaker 1: you that I come from a country of resilience. Belieze
- 26:49Speaker 1: is a resilient country. From the moment we you know,
- 26:53Speaker 1: beat back the Spaniards when Spain was trying to settle
- 27:00Speaker 1: in Belize, from the moment you know, a gentleman by
- 27:05Speaker 1: the name of George Price, who was the first Prime
- 27:08Speaker 1: Minister of Belize, first premiere. Uh you know my political
- 27:12Speaker 1: hero a law with Michael Manley from Jamaica. You know,
- 27:15Speaker 1: he fought to get independence bloodless, not not. You know,
- 27:18Speaker 1: no one died. We're resilient people. So I'm embedded with
- 27:25Speaker 1: the resilience that is inherent just in the Belizian spirit.
- 27:32Speaker 1: But going from Belize where my mother was a single mother, impoverished,
- 27:41Speaker 1: we didn't even have a toilet system, going from that
- 27:46Speaker 1: to joining her h once she you know, got her
- 27:50Speaker 1: citizenship and she regularized herself here. She brought me here
- 27:54Speaker 1: to the States, and still we were poor. But you know,
- 28:00Speaker 1: American poverty is different than a day a developing nations poverty.
- 28:05Speaker 1: But we were still poor, still single pair. But going
- 28:08Speaker 1: from a developing nation to the United States where you're
- 28:12Speaker 1: one in a couple hundred million, being an immigrant child
- 28:18Speaker 1: and being able to accomplish what I accomplished by the
- 28:21Speaker 1: time I was twenty years old, when no help. Father
- 28:25Speaker 1: wasn't around, mother was struggling to pay the bills, you know,
- 28:29Speaker 1: living with Grandma, living with aunts, living with everybody cousins
- 28:33Speaker 1: in one, you know, small house, and to go from
- 28:37Speaker 1: that to putting out a platinum album to putting out
- 28:41Speaker 1: a classic album, to putting out a second classic album.
- 28:45Speaker 1: But let's before we even get to the second classic,
- 28:47Speaker 1: which you you like, Godfather Buried Alive orderan to Shine album,
- 28:52Speaker 1: and that says a lot. Yeah, that says a lot.
- 28:54Speaker 1: But just before we get to Godfather Buried Alive. When
- 28:58Speaker 1: my first night in incarcerated after I was convicted was
- 29:02Speaker 1: in Manhattan and the tombs, I got on my knees
- 29:05Speaker 1: and I prayed because I always prayed. I got shot
- 29:07Speaker 1: when I was sixteen, and ever since then, I never
- 29:10Speaker 1: missed a dead prayer because I was praying to stay alive.
- 29:13Speaker 1: I wasn't even praying to be successful, or praying for
- 29:16Speaker 1: a new car or praying for anything. I was just praying, God,
- 29:19Speaker 1: don't let me die, and I don't. I'm not a
- 29:24Speaker 1: disloyer person, so not because I didn't get the outcome
- 29:28Speaker 1: that I wanted a trial, all of a sudden, I'm
- 29:31Speaker 1: not gonna believe in God anymore. When I just put
- 29:33Speaker 1: out a classic album right that went platinum, you know, right.
- 29:40Speaker 3: MTV directect everything right.
- 29:42Speaker 1: And I was I was hitting. So I got on
- 29:47Speaker 1: my knees and I said, you know, God, it's not
- 29:50Speaker 1: the outcome I wanted. You know, they did me dirty.
- 29:53Speaker 1: You know, I was just defending myself. But check this out.
- 29:56Speaker 1: I'm extremely grateful for all that you've done for me.
- 30:00Speaker 1: You let my dreams come true. And that's that's one
- 30:02Speaker 1: thing I had asked for. I pray to God that
- 30:04Speaker 1: at least because I knew I had an unlicensed weapon.
- 30:07Speaker 1: I know that's illegal. There's nowhere around that. I admitted that,
- 30:11Speaker 1: but I was defending myself, so I didn't expect that
- 30:14Speaker 1: the jury would convict me of anything other than the
- 30:19Speaker 1: weapons charge. But I said to the creator, to the
- 30:25Speaker 1: most side, the architect of the universe, I said, listen,
- 30:28Speaker 1: my dreams came through. At least my mom. No matter what,
- 30:32Speaker 1: no one can take away her child from Carrosso Street, Mesopotamia,
- 30:37Speaker 1: Belize south Side. He did what no other belizing had
- 30:41Speaker 1: done at the time, for sure, and still hasn't done.
- 30:44Speaker 1: No other Bleasing has accomplished the commercial success that I've accomplished.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Respector Andy Pelasio or Lord Raven, you know, Paul the
- 30:52Speaker 1: Boar and a lot of other great musicians. Super g
- 30:54Speaker 1: stick the artists. I got to do that. I got
- 30:58Speaker 1: to live my dream. There's so many talented kids right now,
- 31:02Speaker 1: you know, whether in Compton and Crenshaw, whever, wherever in
- 31:06Speaker 1: California in the Bay that are dreaming about being Kendrick,
- 31:10Speaker 1: dreaming about being the Game, dreaming about being Tupac, and
- 31:14Speaker 1: that might never happen. Right, So my dreams came true.
- 31:18Speaker 1: And I said, you know what, God, thank you. All
- 31:21Speaker 1: I ask is that I don't die in here, or
- 31:25Speaker 1: I don't end up killing somebody in here, and just
- 31:28Speaker 1: let me get up out of here, right, let me
- 31:30Speaker 1: endure every day in here, and let me let me
- 31:34Speaker 1: make it out of here. And he did it better. Yeah,
- 31:39Speaker 1: he made me a mythical creature. And you know what,
- 31:42Speaker 1: I just looked a number one. You were on four
- 31:44Speaker 1: double Xcel covers four of them, not three. It was four. Yeah, yeah,
- 31:49Speaker 1: yeah right. So not only did he allow me to
- 31:52Speaker 1: endure the worst thing that any human being could ever
- 31:56Speaker 1: go through. I would not never wish that on anybody.
- 31:58Speaker 1: I can my word enemy. So he didn't just allow
- 32:02Speaker 1: me to endoor. He allow me to thrive. Right, the
- 32:04Speaker 1: multimillion dollar deal with death jam everybody calling Drake calling
- 32:08Speaker 1: Hole calling, you know Jamaine, I got it, I got it.
- 32:13Speaker 1: I forgot Jamaine on my list. I'm would He's definitely
- 32:16Speaker 1: on my list. But when Jamaine and Mark Pitts respect
- 32:20Speaker 1: the man because he's a president over at r C
- 32:22Speaker 1: A Sony. When they called me to get on the
- 32:25Speaker 1: Usher record, respect the Usher, imagine I was. I wrote
- 32:31Speaker 1: that song is because music is everything to me throughout
- 32:35Speaker 1: my journey. So literally we have a keyboard and a
- 32:40Speaker 1: cassette tape, and so every new album that comes out,
- 32:44Speaker 1: you know, Mama love my mom. She sends the tapes.
- 32:48Speaker 1: So I just got the Usher album and when I
- 32:52Speaker 1: heard Confessions, I kept playing the song over and over
- 32:57Speaker 1: and over and over again the remix, like who can
- 33:01Speaker 1: script that? I'm no cat? Listen, no cat. Next thing,
- 33:07Speaker 1: you know, I checked my phone messages and Jermaine and
- 33:12Speaker 1: Mark Pitts on my phone saying, listen, I should want
- 33:14Speaker 1: to talk to you. Got this record he wants you
- 33:15Speaker 1: to do and you don't want a verse that you
- 33:19Speaker 1: already have. He wants you to wrap it over the
- 33:22Speaker 1: phone and you're on that with twisting Kanye Kanye West,
- 33:26Speaker 1: who produced more or Less with Foxy Brown, No no, yeah,
- 33:30Speaker 1: Foxy Brown chorus chorus. So imagine, like I was just
- 33:35Speaker 1: talking to Hit and he was talking about the record
- 33:38Speaker 1: I did with Corrupt, the.
- 33:42Speaker 3: Behind Them, the East Coast remix.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Right, So I'm just saying, brother, I'm so blessed, so fortunate.
- 33:51Speaker 1: You know, we got it Grammy for the Confession because
- 33:54Speaker 1: the Confession's remix was on the album. There was a
- 33:58Speaker 1: version of just like my book, they want to grab
- 34:01Speaker 1: me for my breathings for Alicia. Yeah. Right, So I'm
- 34:05Speaker 1: just saying, I'm extremely fortunate, man. So I have so
- 34:09Speaker 1: many silver linings and so throughout that to be a megastar,
- 34:15Speaker 1: to be a mythical creature, to put out another number
- 34:18Speaker 1: one album, to put out a classic album, uh, and
- 34:21Speaker 1: to just all throughout my incarceration, I was at the height.
- 34:25Speaker 4: Uh.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Even when the documentary came out, A young game is
- 34:28Speaker 1: rapping about Sean Uh dip set the game was name
- 34:32Speaker 1: dropping you a lot, dipset rapping about Sean.
- 34:36Speaker 4: Uh.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Yeah, it was not rapping about Shane.
- 34:39Speaker 3: Well. And there's also like an alternative timeline where obviously
- 34:44Speaker 3: you're a free man. So that goes without saying. But yeah,
- 34:49Speaker 3: you know, bad Boy didn't have the greatest track record
- 34:51Speaker 3: of putting out artists consistently or doing right by them
- 34:57Speaker 3: while they were You know, there's a chance that first album.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Comes out and.
- 35:02Speaker 3: You know you end up like, you know, no disrespect
- 35:05Speaker 3: to like a Mark Curry or somebody, but somebody who's
- 35:07Speaker 3: like frustrated with yourself.
- 35:08Speaker 1: But that's why I'm telling you it was a dream
- 35:10Speaker 1: come true because I came out and I had I
- 35:14Speaker 1: had hits that the Bonnie and Sean was a hit,
- 35:17Speaker 1: The Bad Boys Class was a massive hit. Then I
- 35:21Speaker 1: was on, I was on I was on a bunch
- 35:23Speaker 1: of other hits. I was on the Phone Tap I
- 35:26Speaker 1: Can't Believe with Faith and Carl Thomas. That was a
- 35:30Speaker 1: hit that got nominated for a Grammy. YO, when you
- 35:32Speaker 1: were I gotta ask you because I was on Keisha Coles,
- 35:36Speaker 1: I broke her. I was just I was just cursing
- 35:39Speaker 1: out Manny asking him how would the remix not be
- 35:43Speaker 1: on the on the on the album? That's crazy because
- 35:47Speaker 1: the remix is what everyone was playing, and that's what
- 35:49Speaker 1: really broke her. She came with Fat Joe, respect the
- 35:52Speaker 1: Fat Joe. They came to Rikers Allen and performed that
- 35:56Speaker 1: for the inmates that was. I changed my mind, right,
- 35:58Speaker 1: changed my mind. I'm trying to figure out Kanye West
- 36:02Speaker 1: on the track Joints. Yeah, came to visit. Believe a
- 36:06Speaker 1: big respect to j Prince Godfather Rap own a few
- 36:12Speaker 1: islands out there and believe yes, wow, So definitely I'm
- 36:16Speaker 1: trying to get doctor draded by a few islands as well.
- 36:18Speaker 3: So, yeah, what was the process of getting your verses
- 36:22Speaker 3: off in jail? Was it just over the phone?
- 36:25Speaker 1: No? No, no, that's the only one I did over
- 36:27Speaker 1: the phone? Was usher washer?
- 36:30Speaker 2: What you didn't do the corrupt one over the phone?
- 36:32Speaker 1: Nah? That was already I went to record that, Okay, okay,
- 36:34Speaker 1: I recorded that.
- 36:35Speaker 3: Was yeah, because that was around the time of the os.
- 36:38Speaker 1: That was that was on the So what I did
- 36:41Speaker 1: is I took it because it's like what I'm doing
- 36:43Speaker 1: right now. Uh, I have a very eclectic palette for music,
- 36:49Speaker 1: and so while I'm creating straight hip hop classic, I
- 36:53Speaker 1: still I want to have the different bops, right. I
- 36:56Speaker 1: don't want to just have you know, New York, but up,
- 37:00Speaker 1: I need to get that West West. The Keisha record
- 37:03Speaker 1: was recorded in jail or no, no, no, no, that
- 37:07Speaker 1: was that was something that was the first that I
- 37:08Speaker 1: had already recorded, but I just didn't release you.
- 37:11Speaker 3: Got You You Got You Got, So like when you
- 37:14Speaker 3: do the Usher remix though, right, is it?
- 37:17Speaker 1: Is it? Like what it is?
- 37:19Speaker 3: Sitting in myself, I'm saying, like, is it You got
- 37:23Speaker 3: to set up a time where they accept the call
- 37:25Speaker 3: and the engineers recording it and then now you know.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, and you know you might dine the yard.
- 37:31Speaker 1: So I had guys, I have point person paying attention
- 37:34Speaker 1: to make sure nobody don't. It's crazy.
- 37:36Speaker 3: There was this rapper from Sacramento name X Rated Yeah,
- 37:40Speaker 3: and this dude he went platinum in the nineties off
- 37:43Speaker 3: of prison Albums where he recorded all his ship over
- 37:48Speaker 3: the phone or however he was doing it in his cell,
- 37:52Speaker 3: and he was like, you know, we would just take
- 37:53Speaker 3: care of the guards and I would incredibly.
- 37:56Speaker 1: When we shot the video and Clinton donnamoor for with
- 38:00Speaker 1: me and Ashanti respect that shanty the Jimmy Jimmy the
- 38:03Speaker 1: Jimmy Choo record.
- 38:04Speaker 3: Damn, that's crazy man.
- 38:06Speaker 1: We pretended like we were doing an interview. Yeah, and
- 38:09Speaker 1: I just do it that they sent me. They sent
- 38:14Speaker 1: me to Adam and Sag for that that I definitely
- 38:17Speaker 1: for me. They took away my phone. Yeah, and they
- 38:21Speaker 1: put me in isolation for have you ever like, did
- 38:23Speaker 1: you ever do the twenty three hour lockdown? Yeah? In
- 38:26Speaker 1: the hole. Yeah.
- 38:26Speaker 3: They say that can mentally break you.
- 38:28Speaker 1: I mean, listen, outside of that, you get mentally broken
- 38:32Speaker 1: being there. Uh yeah. So that's kind of the reason
- 38:36Speaker 1: when I got out, I lost my voice and I
- 38:40Speaker 1: didn't have I didn't have the motion, I didn't have
- 38:42Speaker 1: the energy. Yeah. It's reminiscent of someone who is shot
- 38:50Speaker 1: several times and it is bleeding out and they're trying
- 38:54Speaker 1: to get themselves to safety. So they'll run. They'll run
- 38:59Speaker 1: until they get this safety. Then they'll pass out. They
- 39:02Speaker 1: don't even don't have time to look at the wounds
- 39:06Speaker 1: until they get to a place of safety. And I
- 39:09Speaker 1: believe for all those years, with the number one albums,
- 39:12Speaker 1: with all the accolades, with the Grammys, with all of
- 39:16Speaker 1: the respect for my pearers, which which matters very much
- 39:19Speaker 1: to me, of course, I still was That's why I
- 39:22Speaker 1: call the Godfather buried alive. I was buried alive. There's
- 39:26Speaker 1: no way around that. And so when I came out,
- 39:30Speaker 1: it's like being resurrected, it's being you know, brought back
- 39:33Speaker 1: to life, and so I had to. I had to,
- 39:36Speaker 1: you know, learn how to walk, learn how to do
- 39:38Speaker 1: everything again, learn how to breathe the fresh air. And
- 39:41Speaker 1: my guy, my guy hip hopp hop definitely came down there.
- 39:48Speaker 1: For those you know gen z s might not know.
- 39:50Speaker 1: It was an R the Great rock Fellow Records and
- 39:53Speaker 1: all those classic you know Jason your albums. Yeah, gee,
- 39:57Speaker 1: Roberson respect the g as well. They both came and
- 40:02Speaker 1: see me in Clinton. But Hop came to see me
- 40:06Speaker 1: and Belize and built a studio in my house for
- 40:11Speaker 1: me so that we could work on the new album.
- 40:16Speaker 1: You know, but I just wasn't ready. I wasn't ready.
- 40:19Speaker 1: And then a record leaked. I did a record for Kalid,
- 40:24Speaker 1: respect the Calid as well, because he's always been a
- 40:27Speaker 1: super Shine fan. Before he was flying the private.
- 40:29Speaker 3: Planes, he used to only take the bus every Yeah,
- 40:34Speaker 3: so he said.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Yo, I take a boat to you. Just please do
- 40:37Speaker 1: this record for me. But that record leaked and my
- 40:39Speaker 1: voice sounded terrible because I just I wasn't ready.
- 40:46Speaker 3: Do you feel like your your your you found your
- 40:49Speaker 3: voice again?
- 40:50Speaker 1: Oh a trillion? But could you could he here? You
- 40:53Speaker 1: could hear and you know you could have heard it,
- 40:55Speaker 1: when I did the Lifetime Achievement performance in LA and
- 41:00Speaker 1: the bt awarts.
- 41:03Speaker 3: Yeah, hey, we gotta stop the interview to tell you
- 41:04Speaker 3: about a good folks and my bookie. Don't forget man,
- 41:07Speaker 3: there's nothing better than hitting a bet. That's right, unless
- 41:10Speaker 3: the whole crew hits it with you. Because my Bookie

- 41:37Speaker 3: If you dish your first bet, all you gotta do
- 41:40Speaker 3: is get that bet back bonus token and run it back.
- 41:43Speaker 3: No sweat, no stress. Hey, I tell you one thing
- 41:46Speaker 3: you might be able to get in on the action.
- 41:47Speaker 3: Of September nineteenth, it just announced this fight with Mayweather
- 41:51Speaker 3: and Pacquiao at the Sphere in Vegas on Netflix. That
- 41:54Speaker 3: might be a fun one to get a little early
- 41:56Speaker 3: wager in on. But yeah, man, get in on the
- 41:59Speaker 3: NBA Action, MLB Action Spring Training all that. Go to
- 42:01Speaker 3: my book and use that promo code Bootleg and don't

- 42:08Speaker 3: Let's get back to the podcast.
- 42:09Speaker 1: I always wonder when you're in your situation you get
- 42:14Speaker 1: this deaf jam deal the album comes out.
- 42:17Speaker 3: But again, even when we talked about the album a
- 42:20Speaker 3: little bit before we started recording, you could you could
- 42:22Speaker 3: tell it ain't your baby, like Shine is your baby
- 42:25Speaker 3: because Shine you were there.
- 42:27Speaker 1: Yeah, but you could never have another Shine man.
- 42:29Speaker 3: But I love But I'm curious, like I'm assuming there
- 42:33Speaker 3: was a lot of like, hey, there's a lot of
- 42:36Speaker 3: stuff that I recorded before I left.
- 42:40Speaker 1: You know, I don't know I recorded that album. So
- 42:42Speaker 1: that album was be my second album. So that album
- 42:45Speaker 1: was in the can prior to you sitting down, Okay,
- 42:49Speaker 1: I didn't know if it was like I had already
- 42:51Speaker 1: gotten with with Blaze, I had already gotten Yeah, I was.
- 42:56Speaker 1: I was just collecting beats because I knew I was
- 42:58Speaker 1: going to sit down. I just didn't I didn't expect
- 43:00Speaker 1: that I would have been sitting down just in case,
- 43:04Speaker 1: just in case we don't have another at I had
- 43:06Speaker 1: no matter what, you're gonna go sit down in New York. Yeah,
- 43:10Speaker 1: licensed weapons.
- 43:11Speaker 3: So I knew that makes sense. Man, I'm curious, while
- 43:14Speaker 3: you're incarcerated you find Orthodox Judaism.
- 43:20Speaker 1: I had already been I was born. It's interesting, you know,
- 43:24Speaker 1: being today. Some people say that it's ethnic, but it
- 43:28Speaker 1: really isn't. It's a religion religion depending on who you
- 43:32Speaker 1: talk to exactly. But I take the position that it's
- 43:34Speaker 1: it's a religion. Anyone can be a Jew if you believe,
- 43:40Speaker 1: and obviously depends on what kind of Jew. They're Orthodox Jews,
- 43:43Speaker 1: Ultra Orthodox Jews, Reform Jews, Conservative Jews. Uh So, it
- 43:48Speaker 1: just depends on what you want to be. And I
- 43:50Speaker 1: believe the relationship with God is a very personal one.
- 43:53Speaker 1: For sure. It doesn't have to involve religion, But religion
- 43:56Speaker 1: can give you a structure in a guideline, whether it
- 43:58Speaker 1: be Islam, to be Catholicism, whether it because you're a
- 44:02Speaker 1: moral a moral compass to kind of follow a skeleton
- 44:06Speaker 1: if you whatever, whatever the road map is to where
- 44:08Speaker 1: you're trying to go. But I'd always been into mono Theism,
- 44:14Speaker 1: and it could be maybe based on my heritage, which
- 44:19Speaker 1: is from you know, Jews from Portugal. Uh, they went,
- 44:24Speaker 1: you know, my my great grandparents, the Lindos and the Barrows.
- 44:28Speaker 1: Barrows meant Bark and Lindo is Levy, you know. So
- 44:33Speaker 1: that's why I took on the name Levi. But yeah,
- 44:38Speaker 1: and I believe there's some Ethiopian roots there too, but
- 44:40Speaker 1: the Portuguese roots is official. The Lindos and the Barooks
- 44:49Speaker 1: they went to Jamaica, the Baroks, the Barrows ended up
- 44:54Speaker 1: in Barbados, and so yeah, so I guess there's something
- 44:59Speaker 1: genetic there. But mono Theism was always my thing. As
- 45:02Speaker 1: I said when I got shot when I was sixteen
- 45:04Speaker 1: years old. I would always pray, but I wasn't praying
- 45:08Speaker 1: to intermediary. I didn't feel comfortable praying to Muhammad or
- 45:12Speaker 1: praying to Jesus, or praying to Buddha or any any
- 45:19Speaker 1: entity other than the creative of the universe. And that's
- 45:22Speaker 1: why I chose the name Moses, because Moses was one
- 45:26Speaker 1: of the most powerful men on earth before he decided
- 45:30Speaker 1: to go on this path of you know, leading out
- 45:33Speaker 1: the Israelites and liberating them and creating you know this
- 45:36Speaker 1: religious structure coming from Abraham and other mono theists, but
- 45:42Speaker 1: so I'm really a mono theist and Judaism is the structure,
- 45:48Speaker 1: is my infrastructure of how you know, I practice, and
- 45:52Speaker 1: how I practiced to a point where I got to
- 45:55Speaker 1: a level of enlightenment. So it's like, you know, I
- 45:58Speaker 1: could drive on the Shabbat. You know, I don't necessarily
- 46:03Speaker 1: have to eat strictly at a kosher restaurant, but I
- 46:06Speaker 1: don't eat non kosher food, meaning you know, I eat
- 46:10Speaker 1: fish and chicken. But if I eat you know, a
- 46:12Speaker 1: burger has to be a kosher burger kh if it's beef.
- 46:17Speaker 1: But that's just my science. It doesn't you don't have
- 46:20Speaker 1: to do that, and you can still be a great person,
- 46:22Speaker 1: Which takes me to what I said about enlightenment. So
- 46:26Speaker 1: enlightenment means my religion is love, compassion, kindness, honesty, integrity, tolerance,
- 46:40Speaker 1: practices of such values and character traits. That is what
- 46:46Speaker 1: I swear by. That is my Torah, that is my Kodan,
- 46:50Speaker 1: that is my Bible, that is my religion. Yeah, because
- 46:54Speaker 1: I think when you first got out, it felt like
- 46:56Speaker 1: you were like like I was, like I was, I
- 46:59Speaker 1: was UTU orthodox. But I look at it as as
- 47:03Speaker 1: when you go to U c l A. Right, Yeah,
- 47:08Speaker 1: you could get your PhD in music, of course, but
- 47:11Speaker 1: it don't mean that you're gonna win Grammys, and it
- 47:14Speaker 1: don't mean that you're gonna put our classic albums what
- 47:16Speaker 1: you would train you were initiated, right, So I feel
- 47:19Speaker 1: like what I went through with their religious journey was
- 47:22Speaker 1: an initiation as far as going through all the degrees.
- 47:26Speaker 1: And now I'm at a place of enlightenment where I
- 47:28Speaker 1: bring people together. So I'm a I'm a humanitarian human being.
- 47:35Speaker 1: I'm not a Jew first, I'm a I'm a belizing
- 47:38Speaker 1: first of anything. But I'm a I'm a human being
- 47:41Speaker 1: and Judaism is my foundation that led me to get
- 47:46Speaker 1: to a level of enlightenment. But I'm here to bring
- 47:48Speaker 1: people together and I'm here to to create a new,
- 47:52Speaker 1: a new era of enlightenment where people aren't, you know,
- 47:56Speaker 1: allowing religion to separate them. But let's agree to have
- 48:01Speaker 1: been people. Let's agree to have integrity, and let's agree
- 48:04Speaker 1: to be tolerant, Let's agree to be kind, let's agree
- 48:07Speaker 1: to be compassionate. Like yeah, that's it almost like it's
- 48:10Speaker 1: almost like this the way I mean, but I pray.
- 48:13Speaker 1: I pray, yeah, to the creator of the universe, to
- 48:16Speaker 1: the architect of the universe.
- 48:19Speaker 3: But I was gonna say, if you think about this,
- 48:21Speaker 3: like it's almost like if you I don't do it
- 48:23Speaker 3: on my someone says, hey, I'm a Christian. I believe
- 48:27Speaker 3: in God, I believe in Jesus, but I don't necessarily subscribe.
- 48:31Speaker 1: To you know what some of the more.
- 48:38Speaker 3: Hard line you know, super preacher ship, you know what
- 48:43Speaker 3: I'm saying, Like there's a difference between like excuse me.
- 48:46Speaker 3: I mean, I think we've seen specifically with you know,
- 48:49Speaker 3: the last few years, like and what's been going on
- 48:53Speaker 3: with Israel and Palestine and all that, Like there's been this.
- 48:57Speaker 1: They're the same, they're the same blood, they're the same.
- 49:00Speaker 1: If you want to talk about a race, they're there.
- 49:04Speaker 1: They're the same race. This idea of Europeans come to colonize,
- 49:09Speaker 1: it's just not true. I don't want to get into
- 49:10Speaker 1: the politics, right, they're the same race that theyre come from,
- 49:16Speaker 1: the same Llawance right, Israel and Ishmael, Right, they're the
- 49:23Speaker 1: same there, Isaac's son, right, It's the same people. And
- 49:29Speaker 1: that's why I Sayligion and I think that is the
- 49:34Speaker 1: thing that you know, we've heard this all of this.
- 49:38Speaker 1: You could like people being critical of a country and
- 49:42Speaker 1: a country's actions. It is not the same as someone
- 49:45Speaker 1: being critical of a religion, a religion and the people
- 49:48Speaker 1: because because everyone is not like I don't get into
- 49:51Speaker 1: external politics here and anywhere else, but not because I
- 49:57Speaker 1: lived in Jerusalem and your day value system and studies
- 50:03Speaker 1: is what has allowed me to get to my level
- 50:05Speaker 1: of enlightenment. Means that I support the current government or
- 50:11Speaker 1: any other actions or any other government that that so
- 50:15Speaker 1: so one has nothing to do with the other. Doesn't
- 50:17Speaker 1: mean that I praying for the humanitarian crisis to have
- 50:24Speaker 1: come to an end and praying for the war to end,
- 50:26Speaker 1: and and praying that there is an Arab state that
- 50:29Speaker 1: lives in peace with a Jewish state doesn't mean I
- 50:33Speaker 1: support Hamas or I support you know, any terrorist right.
- 50:37Speaker 1: Doesn't mean I support right wing people in Israel who
- 50:43Speaker 1: may consider yeah, I don't. So I don't support extremism
- 50:48Speaker 1: any way, shape or form. That's what the religion thing.
- 50:53Speaker 1: So to me, religion may lead you to a Pandora's
- 50:56Speaker 1: box of extremism, and I believe in light meant is balanced.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Do you feel like you were ever at a point
- 51:03Speaker 1: where you were teetering on the extreme side with the Judas,
- 51:07Speaker 1: never to the point of not recognizing other human beings
- 51:16Speaker 1: and their right to self determination. I saw somewhere you
- 51:20Speaker 1: like when you're performing, because because there's super the super religious,
- 51:24Speaker 1: there's some super religious Jews that don't agree they're not
- 51:28Speaker 1: There's there's extreme Orthodox Jews are not Zionists exactly. So
- 51:33Speaker 1: so Zionism has nothing to do with Judaism, with should
- 51:37Speaker 1: they values per se? Right, It's it's compl I.
- 51:40Speaker 3: Was wondering because like I'm I'm I'm like, I'm a
- 51:42Speaker 3: pretty political guy in terms of just being as students
- 51:46Speaker 3: as as stude as possible. Yeah, there was a point
- 51:50Speaker 3: in time where you shouted out Jonathan Pollard on stage.
- 51:54Speaker 3: Yeah he was he was kidded by Jonathan Pollard was
- 51:58Speaker 3: the guy who was a spy.
- 52:00Speaker 1: I thought you was talking about a lot. I know
- 52:04Speaker 1: here're talking about he was kidnapped Jonathan Vibra who got
- 52:08Speaker 1: arrested and then Obama didn't let him out, or maybe
- 52:12Speaker 1: Obama did let him out. Yeah, and then I know
- 52:15Speaker 1: who you're talking about. BB greeted him on the on
- 52:17Speaker 1: the tarmac, and so I just I just yeah, I
- 52:21Speaker 1: just think like we've gotten to this place where everyone
- 52:23Speaker 1: is so extreme and like this specific sometimes like I
- 52:27Speaker 1: think you you nailed it, man, Like it would be
- 52:30Speaker 1: amazing if two people could have their own nations and
- 52:32Speaker 1: live next to each other.
- 52:33Speaker 3: And and we look at things as like, hey, look.
- 52:36Speaker 1: At look at my god Kaled. You know, I know
- 52:38Speaker 1: his heartbreaking. I know his heartbreaking.
- 52:40Speaker 3: I wish he'd speak up about it, to be honest,
- 52:42Speaker 3: but you know that's not you know.
- 52:44Speaker 1: It's heartbreaking. And everyone everyone makes their contribution.
- 52:47Speaker 3: For sure, and we might not know what he's how
- 52:50Speaker 3: he's contributing. We might not to be fair. He is
- 52:53Speaker 3: a Palestinian though, so exactly right.
- 52:55Speaker 1: But I know I was when when when October seventh
- 52:58Speaker 1: first happened and all the bamba started and you know,
- 53:04Speaker 1: all the bloodshed on both sides. I went to see
- 53:07Speaker 1: him because you know, that's my guy, and I wanted
- 53:10Speaker 1: to check on him, and I know it was tough,
- 53:12Speaker 1: and yeah, so our relationship is the epitome of what
- 53:19Speaker 1: the world should be. Right, Like, we're not you know,
- 53:23Speaker 1: I'm not here condemning Arabic people, Palestinian people, I'm not
- 53:29Speaker 1: here condemning any people. I'm not here are taking the
- 53:32Speaker 1: side of extremists on any part of the planet. Right,
- 53:37Speaker 1: I'm here saying that the United Nations they had partitioned
- 53:44Speaker 1: what was Palestine, and Palestine contained both Arabs and Jews,
- 53:51Speaker 1: Christians and all types of people. So, you know, I
- 53:54Speaker 1: don't want to get into the politics of it, because
- 53:56Speaker 1: you go back to thousands of years, you know, it
- 53:59Speaker 1: can get You got King David, you got King solid
- 54:03Speaker 1: It's a lot, It is a lot, and it's I think.
- 54:05Speaker 1: But all I'm saying is, let's deal with where we're
- 54:07Speaker 1: at now. Where we're at now is the United States said,
- 54:10Speaker 1: this is the state of Palestine, this is the state
- 54:13Speaker 1: of Israel's for the sake of for the sake of peace,
- 54:17Speaker 1: we need to abide by that. But but but again,
- 54:21Speaker 1: it has to go both ways. We can't have we
- 54:23Speaker 1: can't have either state to destroy the other state both states.
- 54:28Speaker 1: So that's my dream and that's my prayer, because there
- 54:31Speaker 1: are people from both sides that don't want the other
- 54:35Speaker 1: side to exist. And that's what we gotta We gotta stop.
- 54:38Speaker 3: One hundred percent talk to me. You gotta kind of
- 54:43Speaker 3: you know, last year earlier.
- 54:45Speaker 1: Just not forget May second Kingstad to Brooklyn, New York,
- 54:49Speaker 1: first show back. Are you nervous? I look nervous, well,
- 54:54Speaker 1: because you didn't. You didn't really get to tour like that. No, no,
- 54:57Speaker 1: I told you it was ninety days. But no, no, no,
- 54:59Speaker 1: I'm what you gotta understand.
- 55:01Speaker 3: Is because this this is gonna be the first time
- 55:04Speaker 3: you've performed a lot of your songs, I'm assuming.
- 55:08Speaker 1: I'm only doing a shine album. And I got some surprises,
- 55:12Speaker 1: cause I got some guests coming out, some people that
- 55:15Speaker 1: I did records with. But no, for me, I it's
- 55:21Speaker 1: just like the the the the BT Awards, right, I
- 55:26Speaker 1: felt the gravity. That was one of the most difficult
- 55:28Speaker 1: things I ever did MM period, not just as far
- 55:33Speaker 1: as artists, as far as anything. Cause when you go
- 55:35Speaker 1: when I go in the House of Representatives, I'm representing
- 55:38Speaker 1: my constituency, and when I was leader of the opposition,
- 55:41Speaker 1: I'm representing the country because everyone didn't vote for the government.
- 55:45Speaker 1: So every time the House of Representatives was set, I
- 55:49Speaker 1: would feel I I would feel the weight of the moment.
- 55:55Speaker 1: But then I prepare, I make sure my speeches, uh,
- 55:59Speaker 1: and then you know I have an ability where I
- 56:01Speaker 1: have a speech, but no matter how much it's written out,
- 56:05Speaker 1: I deviate and I know how to get you know
- 56:07Speaker 1: how to get back into it. Yeah, But but I
- 56:10Speaker 1: go there and I go there with a purpose. So
- 56:14Speaker 1: when you ask me and I don't, I had to
- 56:18Speaker 1: let my humility come back. It's not that I'm like,
- 56:21Speaker 1: do I look nervous. It's like, after all that I've
- 56:25Speaker 1: been through.
- 56:26Speaker 2: It's like once you're a politician and.
- 56:28Speaker 1: You speak to a nation of Yeah, but not just
- 56:30Speaker 1: the politician, but after all that I've been through as
- 56:33Speaker 1: a human.
- 56:33Speaker 3: For sure, it's like prepared for a concert.
- 56:36Speaker 1: This is the moment, but listen, this is These are
- 56:39Speaker 1: the moments that we live for. And then this is
- 56:41Speaker 1: a celebration. I'm going there to celebrate with the people
- 56:46Speaker 1: like you and others who love Shine's marryingson Levy coming out.
- 56:51Speaker 1: We gotta wait and see. He's on two of your
- 56:53Speaker 1: biggest records. We gotta wait and see. I'm not I'm
- 56:55Speaker 1: not making any promises because you got to get the
- 56:57Speaker 1: Orange Man to give him that green light. Flights, get
- 57:01Speaker 1: flights get you know, he's in Jamaica. He's in Jamaica.
- 57:04Speaker 1: I'm not making any promises. I did that once in
- 57:06Speaker 1: my life and it didn't end right. So can you
- 57:08Speaker 1: get buried to leave to come out? So people need,
- 57:10Speaker 1: people need to know that Shine is going to be there.
- 57:13Speaker 1: I'm not making any promises other than Shine is going
- 57:16Speaker 1: to be there. But just as I said, for me,
- 57:18Speaker 1: obviously I'm preparing, I'm rehearsing. You know, I'm gonna actually
- 57:23Speaker 1: because I go, I'm based in believes and I go
- 57:26Speaker 1: back and forth. But I'm going to spend you know,
- 57:29Speaker 1: like a month leading up to the concert there just
- 57:33Speaker 1: preparing and making sure that this moment is excellence, This
- 57:39Speaker 1: moment is perfection because this is a moment of celebration,
- 57:43Speaker 1: This is a moment of triumph, this is a moment
- 57:46Speaker 1: of reconciliation. Yeah, so this has to be a great moment.
- 57:51Speaker 1: It's not for me. Commission live would be crazy, it's not.
- 57:54Speaker 1: But listen, this is not a moment for me. So
- 57:56Speaker 1: it's not like, oh, I'm not nervous for me. I
- 57:58Speaker 1: can't be nervus. I can't. There's so many people waiting
- 58:02Speaker 1: to celebrate this moment for me, and I'm an instrument,
- 58:06Speaker 1: right and and that's how I approach I approached these things.
- 58:12Speaker 3: The Diddy documentary coming out the world kind of has
- 58:17Speaker 3: to relive this terrible situation because it's a big chunk
- 58:21Speaker 3: of one of the episodes. What was it like for
- 58:24Speaker 3: you to kind of just go through like a lot
- 58:25Speaker 3: of people learning about your situation for the first time
- 58:28Speaker 3: through that document I wasn't.
- 58:29Speaker 1: I wasn't a part of that documentary they used, but
- 58:32Speaker 1: they spoke yeah, I didn't. I didn't see it for
- 58:35Speaker 1: that reason. I don't need to relive the trauma. Big
- 58:39Speaker 1: respect to Fifty and Alex the young Lady who.
- 58:42Speaker 3: It was a well done directed documentary, I didn't see.
- 58:46Speaker 1: I didn't see it. I'm saying the reason I didn't
- 58:48Speaker 1: see it is because I did not have the bandwidth
- 58:52Speaker 1: to relive that trauma. I put out my documentary which
- 58:56Speaker 1: is on Honor Bushin, which is on Hulu, So so
- 58:59Speaker 1: even going to that space for that documentary was a lot.
- 59:04Speaker 1: So revisiting that space again, I didn't need to do
- 59:09Speaker 1: it by even being a consumer of the content. So
- 59:14Speaker 1: I didn't even want to watch it. Not because I
- 59:18Speaker 1: had anything against Fifty or anything against Alex. In fact,
- 59:21Speaker 1: I applaud them. I've applauded them publicly for being a
- 59:25Speaker 1: voice for the victims and the people that felt they
- 59:28Speaker 1: were wrong, regardless of whatever the verdict was in the case,
- 59:33Speaker 1: and giving those people a voice. And I know that
- 59:36Speaker 1: they spoke highly of me in the documentary, and I
- 59:39Speaker 1: have no reason to believe that the documentary was presenting
- 59:44Speaker 1: anything but the truthful.
- 59:46Speaker 3: Did they reach out for you to do anything?
- 59:49Speaker 1: They did? Alex said she did. But so many people
- 59:52Speaker 1: reach out to me and I don't. I'm not interested.
- 59:55Speaker 1: That's the thing. Like even right now, I'm interested about
- 59:57Speaker 1: May Second Kings Theater, Brooklyn, New York putting forward a
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: spectacular performance. I'm gonna do the entire country definitely. La Yeah.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: And so for me, I wish Cassie well, I even
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: wish Diddy well.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: Do you feel like you've made peace and forgave him?
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: Forgiving is something that I did a long time ago. Unfortunately,
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: when the little Rod accusations came back, as far as
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: him bragging that you know, he shot up the club,
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: that did he told them he shot up the club,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: and that Sean took the fall. That opened some old wounds,
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: and then hearing all these things. But I can't live
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: in that space. I refuse to live in that space.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: I moved on, I continue to move and I'm so blessed.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: I have so many great things to talk about. These
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: three new albums. The Honorable is the first album coming out,
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: Rap Prime Minister, second album coming out, Actual Intelligence, the
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: final album of the trilogy, Independently. Are you doing this? No,
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: we we we We're gonna decide what major, What major
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: We're going I can imagine, I mean major distributor distribution. Yeah,
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: I'm sure everyone our partner. It depends you.
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: I mean, look rock Nation, that's distro now, I mean in.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: The scope, you never go wrong with Interscope.
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: Kick the Tires, I mean Death Jams Back you never.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: You never go wrong with Atlantic, and I mean.
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like for you man, like it's it's
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: a statement to this album. Oh well, remember it's gonna
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: be three albums, but I'm saying that first one, man,
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: that first one, it's.
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: Got to be a statement. But it's just like what
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: you said, you love Godfather Buried Alive more than you
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: like Shine. And so that's the mentality I'm going into
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: it with is that every song that I'm doing has
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: to be better or as good as the last song.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: So definitely top tier Hey.
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: We gotta stop the interview to tell you about our
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: good folk, odd Socks.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: Man.
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: Now, these are the odd Socks Basics, ladies and gentlemen.
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: Now when I tell you this is a product that

- 1:02:16Speaker 3: what odd Socks is doing is they're kind of reinventing
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: the sock game, if we're being honest, and the underwear game.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: You know, a lot of times you'll hit Walmart, you'll
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: hit Target, you'll get some socks, you get some draws.
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: They're affordable, they end up with holes in them, they
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: don't really feel great. Not odd Socks, Ladies and gentlemen.

- 1:02:51Speaker 1: There we go.
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: Ah, you see that.
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: Sorry you had to see those white legs. But it's
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: so dope that you know, I get to push a
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: product that I use and that I love so odd
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: Socks they got the six pack of socks for fourteen
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: ninety nine a odd socks dot com. The basics. This
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: is the future of socks, the future of underwear comfort
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: and affordability. I'm talking about affordability.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: Without jeopardizing the quality because they are the most comfortable
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: socks you ever put on your feet. Ladies and gents,
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: uh and the ETCeteras. Got to show love to the
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: etceterask we like all the stripes on the flag. There
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: are odd socks dot com. Man much love to my
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: brothers over there. Do you get inspired by any of
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: the new hip hop that's that's happening right now? There's
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: so much man like hip boys is you know? He
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: inspires me. I just listen to that Blizzard album hm,
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: because you know I want that bop. I want that
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: West Coast bop and you got it. He got it right.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: It's crazy. I mean like I mean the clips, the
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: clips inspire me. That album so good. Yeah. Kendrick Kendrick
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: inspires me. She am not pronouncing it.
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: She's incredible.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: Did I pronounce it but her name? Because I want
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: I want her on on on on one of my albums.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: If you ever at least she's nice with it.
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: The thing about the.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: Hip hop Nas inspires me, the fact that he just
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: keep he keep. I don't know where you get these
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: bars from.
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: He just you know what?
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: And he putting seven albums with hip boy. Yeah, the
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: twenty from twenty.
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: Twenty twenty was the first street first one to now incredible. Yeah,
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: it's crazy too because even Nas is like a businessman
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: and an executive. Yeah, I mean, MASSI appeal could be
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: a spot for you to land like Nas just dropped
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: seven crazy He did the ghost Face album that day.
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: Saw I mean, yeah, I can, I can just imagine, dude,
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: you know, but.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: I listened, I have an eclectic taste. Whiz Kid aspires me.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: You know, burna boy and I got DJ Tombs. Who's
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: with whiz Kid? I listened to a lot of dance
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: souls so so Russian. Uh, you know, he produces Sancia.
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: Of course, I was gonna tell.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Carl Teller's having an incredible run, but he never stopped
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: having a run. If you asked me, he was bigger
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: incarcerated yeah, uh than he was or just as and
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: continues to be, you know, just legendary iconic figure.
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I was in Uh, I went in the grill
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: and around that. While I was in the grill, I
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: didn't know, but he had he had a stadium show
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: in Kingston and it was stadium crazy.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: Yeah. So yeah, you know Brett fires, Yeah, incredible, you know,
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: because like I said, I'm not making music just just uh,
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: just for the you know, just for the guys. I
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: gotta make music for the women.
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: Like the late Don Tolliver, Don Taliver's crazy. That new
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: album The Octane is crazy, Bryson Tiller, Tiller's dope, It's dope.
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: If you if if if if you could get a
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: guest verse from anybody right now, a verse, who would you?
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: If you could just make a call and it's it's done.
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: Who you? Who you calling? Oh?
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: That dre versus what I wanted. But we got that,
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: We got that figured out. So after dre Man, it's
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: a time between Jay and nos. I mean, he an't
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: go wrong with either of those.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: Yeah. And then and then Kendrick did. Yeah, Kendrick, I say, like, Kendrick,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: I just had an argument with my friend because I
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: was like, you know, a lot of people put Biggie
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: in their top five off of two albums, which is fine,
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: but I'm like, when I say Kendricks in the top five,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: big tough.
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: When I say Kendricks in the top five, some people
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: say I'm crazy, and I'm like, Yo, this guy's discography
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: is he's five albums deep, now six albums deep.
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: You could he missed.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: He's definitely top five and won the biggest rap battle ever. Yeah,
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: he's definitely tough worthy.
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: Yeah, he's like he's in that discussion and.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: Listen, I'm not taking those sides, so, uh, I gotta throw.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: I'm gonna throw.
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: You'll take the Drake verse?
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: No, but I'm gonna show you I'm not taking those sides.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: And maybe and it's not the politician in me. I
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: just feel as an elder statesman, I'm not supposed to
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: take any sides off anything. I'm supposed to bring people together, right,
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: So I'm not here to take any sides. But yeah,
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: definitely I would. I would round out. So my top
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: five rounding out, so we ad dre uh Jay, Jay
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: And and this is the top five people you want
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: a verse from Jay AND's top five, Kendrick four, and
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: then Push and Drake round out the five. Yeah.
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: The Clips album I think showed everybody like, hey, like, but.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: You know, Push gave me a verse already for an
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: album that I think is an incredible album, and I'm
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: gonna re record that album. That Gangland album It's crazy
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: if you listen to the beats was twenty sixteen, right, nah,
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: I think like maybe twenty twelve. Okay, I think okay,
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: Well my voice wasn't there. Yeah, it was terrible, It
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: was terrible, But that's a great album. I gotta re
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: record that when I'm finished with these three albums, I'm
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: gonna re record that. So some big respect to Push
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: always always supported me. What is because I feel like
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: Belize doesn't get talked about enough, and you're you are
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: such a big, you know, spokesman for your country.
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: Like it looks like such a beautiful place, looks like paradise.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: Is paradise, Absolutely paradise. But listen, definitely Cardi Dough she.
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: Don't She's the best performer in music. I just saw
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: her live and.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: I just rep fiz. Yeah yeah, you know done. I
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: feel like I mean, I feel like so so I'm
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: just saying we was talking about my top five.
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: And don't you give you one of them joints?
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: But you know you got the you know right, Cardi definitely,
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: you know Cardi got the motion. Big respect to her guys, Darryl.
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: And and yeah, yeah, shout out to her and her people. Man,
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: all right, so we know when the show is going
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: to be second.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: Kingstad Brooklyn, New York. But you were asking me about Belize. Yes,
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: Belize is paradise. Uh so the most beautiful I'm taking
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: the wife there, got to take him the most beautiful,
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: you know, nation in the world. Most beautiful beaches, uh
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: clear waters, beautiful people, great food, rich culture. You have
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: the Maya temples there, you have the girlfriend of people there,
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: you have the Creole people there, you have the Mestizos
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: people there. You know, you got Indian Asians, you got
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: the Mennonites. It's it's just such a rainbow of culture
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: and people bounded together just with one as I said, resilience,
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: one determination. Yeah. No, it's not like Belieze. Yeah, it's
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: crazy because I don't think people understand like you guys
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: border so much.
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: It's like watch Yah Mexico.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: Yeah, but we're an Alaska flight away direct from from
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: Lax straight flight. We are a direct flight from Miami
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: hour and a half so to Lax is four and
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: a half hours, Miami hour and a half direct flight,
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: Houston two and a half hours, Atlanta two hours. Jet
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: Blue used to do direct flights. Newark does a direct
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: flight from New York four hours.
- 1:10:51Speaker 3: It's not far from Kancun.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: Huh nah, it's right here right there. Yeah, it's like
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: that's like a traffic era. That's a belize. I think
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: their flight is maybe like two hours.
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: Yeah, when you're in like, you know, I can only
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: assume once you see the world through a politician's glasses, right,
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: anything that's going on, Like do you just like kind
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: of see what's going on in the US and be like,
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: you know, I'm kind of glad.
- 1:11:18Speaker 4: I'm kind of glad. I got I have believed this
- 1:11:21Speaker 4: shit's kind of fucked up over here right now. The
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: way we retreating immigrants is the way retreating I mean,
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: it is, it is, it is, honestly, Uh, I'm not sure.
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: I haven't been alive for a wilder time at least. Yeah.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: Well, that's why it's important for people to be involved
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: in the electoral system. And so for me, I don't
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: get involved in external politics, as I mentioned, So I
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: don't take Democrat side, I don't take Republican side, right,
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: because I mean, because shit, Obama could have saved you
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: from getting deported. He could have pardoned me. He could
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: have done a lot for me, and he didn't. It's
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: under President Trump that I'm here. But I first came
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: under Biden. I first came under President Biden when I
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: was a diplomat, when I was leader of the opposition.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: But when I lost that status, you know, President Trump,
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: you know his administration could have fronted on me. But
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: the long story short is when President Biden was there,
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: I met with Republicans because beliefe first. So I'm not
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: here to get involved in American politics. I will sayspect.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: As an immigrant, I pray for immigrants, and I pray
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: for compassion and mercy and the things that I said.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: And if I have an opportunity, if I have the
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: privilege to sit with the President of the United States,
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: because I believe in dialogue. Of course, regardless of how
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: vehemently people may disagree. When when the Democrats want something done,
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: they go to the Oval office.
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: And I Respector Mondani, the Mayor of New York City,
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: because when he needs some shit done, he goes in.
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: He'll pick up that phone and they'll talk.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: So But as I said, so, my my message is
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: compassion and and and tolerance and mercy because you know,
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: the nation, the United States was built by immigrants. They
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: add so much. But in all fairness, uh, President of
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: the United States was elected on a mandate that he broadcasted.
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: And even even though his opponent h Harris, she said, well,
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: I you know, I told you all what was going
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: to happen. I'm not taking any side. I'm just saying,
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: in all fairness, with respect to President Trump, this was
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: his mandate. It said he was going to do this,
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: and the people voted for him. And in democracies, you
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: have to respect the will of the people. Now, however,
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: is it being carried out executed the right way? The
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: execution it's people of America. I don't vote in America.
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: So that's why I'm not going to get involved. You
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: guys will have an opportunity to determine whether you know
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: you made a mistake, whether you are satisfied, that's for
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: you to determine. As I said, if I ever have
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: the privilege of meeting with the President, sure I'll share
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: with him one on one things that I think. You know,
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: if you could look at this and if you could
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: have a little bit more mercy with this and more
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: compassion with that. But if you really look at it,
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: he's executing his mandate and it's just up to people
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: that disagree to to you know, go back to the post.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: And one thing I will say, your democracy is working
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: because you have a separation of powers that is working.
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: The Supreme Court. When when people feel agreed, whether they're immigrants,
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: whether it's the terrorists, whether it's whatever, they yes, that
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: is democracy working. So so President Trump had his vision
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: and they got to get this warship together because he
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: also ran on no wars. Well again, you know, I
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: like you said that the American Yeah. Yeah, But I
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: definitely don't support dictators. Of course, I was a leader
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: of the opposition. I was allowed to say anything I
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: wanted about the Prime minister, and I was allowed to protest,
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: and I was allowed to criticize without getting locked up,
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: without getting shot up. So I appreciate democracy. So so
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: when it comes to removing dictators like Maduro and and
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: the Ayahtolas and these people, I shed no tears for them. So,
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: you know, that's just my opinion. I believe in democracy.
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: The women's school getting bombed.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: Right, but they said that that was Iranians. But but
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: and then if you go back, if you go back again,
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: they said, the Timahawks are sold to everybody, right, but
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: I'm not gonna get Well, listen you Australia, look but
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: look at what, look at what, look at what you know,
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: look at what could happen in the world. And that's
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: why I said, let's try to bring everybody together.
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: I agree, I think we got to try to bring
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: with some of these people.
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: Some of these people don't believe in tolerance, don't believe
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: in inclusion, don't believe in compassion. They're rigid. And if
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: you're not, if you're not a certain religion, if you're
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: not a certain persuasion orientation, you get killed or you
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: get jailed. So I don't shed any tails for those people.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: Do you like you've been there, because I've seen this
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: a lot in the news. They say that certain parts of.
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: Israel, in the West Bank where a lot of the
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: settlers are, that they they'll treat Christians like very disrespectfully,
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: or or if you're not ethnically Jewish you get treated
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: a little different. Has that been anything you've experienced in here.
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: I've never I've never seen that I've seen. You know,
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: as I explained to you, as Jews look alike sometimes
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: unless you're unless you're religious, unless you're a religious Muslim,
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: is the only time that you could really tell the difference.
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: And no, like, there's a place that I go to
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: in Hebron in Israel, and Hebron is where the patriarchs
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: are buried, where Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca and Asaph
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: they're buried. They say even Adam and Eve are buried there.
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: But there's a part where Jews can't go because it's
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: controlled by the Muslims and Jews can only go on
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: certain certain times. And that's a security issue and a
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: safety issue. So as I said, it's complicated, but there
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: are places where Jews can't go. And so the issue
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: of the discrimination, uh, you haven't seen that I haven't seen,
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: because again, there there's so many different types of Arabs.
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: Not everyone is a Palestinian. You have different types of
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: Arab people to live there, Arab Israelies that are Israeli citizens.
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: There are Israeli citizens that are that are that are Palestinians.
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: Ye, So so yeah, I didn't witness. I didn't witness,
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: and I was praying. I was going to the to
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: the to the whaling Wall, to the to the temple.
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: And when you go to the temple, I'm walking with
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: Arabs who are going to pray. Got it right at
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: the other side of the wall, which Jews. I think
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: now they just allowed Jews to start going where the
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: dome of the Rock is and that's where you know
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: Isaac was sacrificed, and that's where you know, the temple,
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: stud et cetera. Like I said, I wish that we'd
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: get to a place where people can worship whatever they
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: want to worship, people can be whoever they want to be,
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: and then by side. Yeah, that's what I'm praying for.
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: You had mentioned earlier you were chopping it up with
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: Mason cam.
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I got I'm headed out there.
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: I'm head gotta go see.
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: Gotta go see.
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: Can you talk about your relationship with Mace, because like
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: you said, man, you're on double up. You guys have
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: Mace is my guy. This is my guy. You know,
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: it didn't it didn't really. I wouldn't say it didn't
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: start like.
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: That because I saw you talk about it on the
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: Breakfast club a little. There was some tension over something.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: Yeah, not really tension. It was just that I came
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: you know, Yeah, I came in the door. You know,
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: Eric being rock Camp. I came in the door right,
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: just stomping the door down. Kobe coming to the Lakers,
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: you know. But Shaka is a superstar and listen. I
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: had the biggest crush on Brandy, And you know, once
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: the opportunity presented itself for for me to connect with her,
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: it was a dream come true. You know, I'll never
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: forget you know, uh, just speaking to her, I jumped
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: like after I got you were dating Brandy. I had
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: the biggest crush. There was an entanglement where everybody had
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: I had the biggest crush on Brandy. Yeah, and uh
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: you know, so were you and Mace talking to Brandy
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: at the same time talking listen. Uh so Mace also,
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: you know, also had a crush on brand I also
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: had a you guys, okay, you guys have a crush
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: off the same relationship with with Brandy. But I didn't know.
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: I didn't know. I had no idea because it was
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: you know, she's who she is. She was she at
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: that time, man, she was listen. That was the biggest album.
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: That's why I said I had a great life. I
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: want you to understand, you know, respect to missus Norm
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: with mister ray J, everybody, entire family. But I was
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: a poor kid. I turned the laundry room into my bedroom.
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: That was the first time I ever had kind of
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: a bedroom my entire life in the United States. And
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: the bed, it was like a queen size bed, took
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: up the whole laundry room. I could touch both walls
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: with my hands, right, yeah, And then my head would
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: be on the wall back here with my pillow, and
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: the TV would be right there, and I could change
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: the the TV with my feet right And what was
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: I watching? What was I watching? MTV? Right?
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: No, I don't know.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: Hold on, boys, mind not come out until I get signed.
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: It comes out in ninety eight. Yeah, So when it
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: comes out I signed, you know, I'm the talk of
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: the town. It's all shine. And you know Sylvia Roone,
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: it's like a mother to me. I love her so much.
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: Credible woman, credible executive boss of bosses. Even though I
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: didn't sign to Electra, I did a deal with her
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: to write songs. I did a songwriter's deal.
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: And so I would always go up deliver certain amount
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: of songs to a label.
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I would always go up there to see her.
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: And you know, my homegirl Lisa Bronson were still friends
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: to this day. I remember when I was up there
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: and she had a picture of Brandy on her thing,
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: and I was like, Yo, you know, that's my biggest
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: crush ever. And you know, I just you know Brooklyn Belize.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: We got a level of confidence. That's the only way
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: I survived death. And that's the only way I got
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: to where I went to it every day every day
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: I could have died, got to ship every day I
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: could have died, and I willed my life into existence.
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: So like, after I accomplished what I accomplished, there's nothing
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: I can't accomplish. So I saw the picture, I was like, listen,
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: I got a crush on her. What's happening?
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: So when Puff approaches you about this conflict, what is
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: the what is the is it?
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: Like?
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: Hey man, like, guys are both signed to me.
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: It's like it's like it's like yo, yo bugging, what
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: are you? What are you doing? Mace is shocked. He's
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: the chance. Yeah, he's the MP m v P of
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: the team like you just got here like chill. But
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: but but we got past that, you know what I mean.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: So when you end up on from Scratch and listen,
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: I think, I think Brandy. I thank Brandy for helping
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: me make a classic album for sure, because you know,
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: like I said, my biggest crush, you know, we in touch,
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: fly here to see her, you know, connected right connected.
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: But then there was another young lady also you know,
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: she sold a couple of million records, but she was
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: a rapper, and you know she was my friend as well.
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: You know, we were connected, and her and Brandy got
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: into it. They got into a little you know over you, right,
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: So she called me, you know, cursing me out like
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: you know, I don't even know who you think you are,
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: Like you're nobody, You ain't even sell one record like
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: I'm Brandy, like swong with you.
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: And that hit me.
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: That hit me like a media out of like an
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: asteroid out of space.
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: It put a battery in your back.
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: To no, it hits me like you will never talk
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: to me, No one will ever talk to me like
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: that again. But I needed to hear that because you
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: know I was, I was, I was living it up too, much,
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: you know, focused on the you know, on the pop
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: divers and the rap divers and he was outside. Yeah yeah,
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: but that that slapped me up. That gave me that
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: the hand of God.
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: When you up doing the from Scratch record with my
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: song on that, Mace and.
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: Then me and Mace, Me and Mace connected, you know,
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: murder Mace, Mason Bether my guy, like you know, he
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: really we connected and you know, he gave me so
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: much information. That's when he was doing the deal with
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: Jermaine and of yeah, what I'm saying, rest in piece
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: the Hoddy, Rest in peace to Lottie. But yeah, me
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: and him became close.
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: When you end up doing the double up songs from
- 1:25:38Speaker 3: Scratch ends up dropping in the mint.
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: Puff wanted Puff wanted the He wanted to square up
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: over that.
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: He wanted to scare with you over here.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: He wanted to square up over the why because initially
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: it said if I could start from scratch, I had
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: to sign the Death Jam Hustle with Rust a couple
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: of million advance. Oh he didn't like that because I'm
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: because I'm not a bad boy. I'm more like a
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: bad man. Put more people in Pitts than Brad man.
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: So after so he heard that and.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: Was like, you got leak what. I was actually in
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: the studio with Mace Mason Cam. I think I think
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: Cam because Cam and lived in the studio. Respect the
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: un Uh. Yeah, he wanted to square up. He wanted
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: to square up. I was like, man, listen, behave yourself.
- 1:26:33Speaker 3: It's crazy, and then you end up signing to death
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: Jam eventually yells a couple of ms. Yeah yeah, man, listen, dude,
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: I'm looking forward to, uh the new music obviously, and
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: the shows.
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: It is in Brooklyn, Brooklyn, New York pro show of
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: many shows.
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: How crazy is it for you to walk around Brooklyn
- 1:26:56Speaker 3: now and see like how Flatbush is like gentrified.
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: It's a development is important. We just got to find
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: a way, the elected officials got to find a way
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: to make sure that that upgrade includes.
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: His people who are there.
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, so that's the thing, right, We gotta we
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: gotta make sure the investment is going there. I love
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: what Brooklyn Borough President Antonio is doing. He's running for Congress.
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: My guy, a great model is my guy Donovan Richards.
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: He's a Brooklyn bor president. Because you know, even though
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: I'm doing this twenty fifth anniversary celebration. I'm tied and
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: heavy with all the political leaders. Yeah, and on both sides.
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: You know, Byron Donald's who's running for governor of Florida,
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: you know, tied in with his people because, as I said,
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: it's important. You know, the the Republican South Carolina House, uh,
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: you know, gave me a proclamation and I met with
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: Democrats and Republicans and even though that's a red state, right,
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: they recognized, you know, my political leadership, so uh so. Yeah,
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: but definitely the political leaders such as assembly Woman Seantel
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: Jackson was from Belieze. She's a belizing American. You know,
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: they need to do what they need to do to
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: make sure Madami has this incredible vision.
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: Man, look, I mean, let's let's see if he comes
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: that crime is down and and uh well let's see
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: if he could turn it into crime was done down under?
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: Eric Adams, that's my guy. I'm a little bit biased, you.
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: Know, the wild dude that Eric Adams. He got a
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: crypto coin. Yeah, when the mayor launches a crypto coin, yeah,
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: but I guess our president launch a crypto coin.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I need to launch a crypto.
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: Don't do that not if you would get re elected
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: and believe one day they're gonna be like this guy
- 1:28:48Speaker 3: did a rug pull well, listen man, the second of
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: May Brooklyn Uh, and then the honorable Shine album. Yeah,
- 1:28:58Speaker 3: it's gonna be the first of three projects.
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and then the rap Prime Minister and actual Intelligence.
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: I gotta put that actual intelligence out there, so nobody
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: don't don't run with that.
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: Yeah, you're right, you have to put it out there,
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: otherwise you're gonna be like, wait a minute, yeah.
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: Because you know miss AI right, Me and Timberland we
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: were having that discussion because.
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: You know, he's the AI guy.
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: He's a AI guy, and I believe it's a balance. Yeah,
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: I believe, But I believe I believe in actual intelligence.
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: And for everybody out there listening, don't give your brain
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: away or we'll be living I robot Will Smith. We
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: need actual intelligence. We're gonna always need this brain if
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: we want to exist, or we will come extent.
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: One hundred percent.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: Man, Well Shine, actual intelligence.
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: I appreciate you pulling up.
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: Thank you for having me. I'll be in La when
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: I when I come perform in La.
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: Yes, sir, and you pull up there, you already know
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: man Shine, Pope appreciate you better.
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: Boo Visit believes.
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: Hey, we gotta wrap up this interview, another one presented
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: by hard Dang baby, you already know what it is.
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: Shout out to Hardin for presenting another episode of the book.
