• 2:01
Speaker 5: Good morning, nice to meet you. It's been a long time.
• 2:04
  Speaker 3: It's been a long time. It's been a long time.
• 2:07
Speaker 5: No, And you keep asking me, and I'm like, yeah,
• 2:09
Speaker 5: I have stuff to talk about the and now like
• 2:11
Speaker 5: that was a month and a half, it was almost
• 2:13
Speaker 5: two months ago. I just I've been everywhere. I've been
• 2:16
Speaker 5: doing all kind of work of the people, work of
• 2:19
Speaker 5: the state, anything you need me to do. And now
• 2:21
Speaker 5: apparently it sounds like I'm going to write a hundred
• 2:23
Speaker 5: dollars check to the WU School of Journalism. No, it's
• 2:26
Speaker 5: not called that anymore, the Pearly I agreed School of Journalism.
• 2:29
Speaker 5: It's what's the culture, No, hang on the creative arts
• 2:34
Speaker 5: and media something something. But local journalism is important and
• 2:39
Speaker 5: we need to help students when they're going through the
• 2:43
Speaker 5: School of journalism. I remember getting like a two hundred,
• 2:45
Speaker 5: two hundred and fifty dollars scholarship from someone and that, well,
• 2:48
Speaker 5: that was huge back in nineteen ninety.
• 2:50
Speaker 3: Yeah, that same year that Yeah, that's the same year
• 2:53
Speaker 3: that I was at Marshall. Yeah, in nineteen ninety it
• 2:55
Speaker 3: was a big deal. Is that what you major DA
• 2:58
Speaker 3: was journalism? I mean, I know what you did, broadcast
• 3:00
Speaker 3: broadcast see now at Marshall. When I was there, you
• 3:03
Speaker 3: had the School of Journalism in the School of broadcasting.
• 3:06
Speaker 3: They were two different things. But then they came together,
• 3:09
Speaker 3: which I always thought they should be together anyway, and
• 3:11
Speaker 3: they came in. I was actually a public relations major
• 3:14
Speaker 3: and minored in broadcasting.
• 3:16
Speaker 5: I remember my dad, you know, I'm from a family
• 3:18
Speaker 5: of educators, and I started out to be a teacher
• 3:22
Speaker 5: and I switched my major and my Dad's like, well,
• 3:24
Speaker 5: you know, you probably should go to the Marshall School
• 3:27
Speaker 5: of Journalism. And like, my eyes got real big because
• 3:30
Speaker 5: he was a high school principal at Fairmont Senior at
• 3:33
Speaker 5: the time, and he knew of the good work at
• 3:35
Speaker 5: Marshall in the School of Journalism.
• 3:37
Speaker 3: And then I was like, no, I don't want to
• 3:39
Speaker 3: go to marsh They do, and this is me being
• 3:43
Speaker 3: a little bit of a homer. They do have a
• 3:44
Speaker 3: fantastic journal I couldn't always have they always And.
• 3:47
Speaker 5: Then when I got into it and Chuck Bailey best
• 3:50
Speaker 5: guy in the world, isn't he?
• 3:51
Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, good Logan County guy?
• 3:54
  Speaker 6: Is he?
• 3:54
Speaker 3: Of course everybody's from.
• 3:56
Speaker 5: Me exactly, and I need to talk to you about
• 3:57
Speaker 5: another Logan County person. Can we just have the whole
• 4:00
Speaker 5: I've got a lot of things to talk about. I
• 4:02
Speaker 5: need to talk about the I just lost his name.
• 4:06
Speaker 5: He's a manager or an agent of the stars, and
• 4:11
Speaker 5: I need the agent for Shirley Jones. She's getting old.
• 4:15
Speaker 5: My mother went to voice lessons with her. Jones, the
• 4:22
Speaker 5: Shirley Yes, yeah, so she's about ninety something. My mother's
• 4:26
Speaker 5: been gone fifteen years. She would be almost ninety five too,
• 4:30
Speaker 5: and she would take a train up from Clarksburg to
• 4:33
Speaker 5: go there. And I just want and I found some
• 4:36
Speaker 5: of my mother's materials and things, and it talks about
• 4:41
Speaker 5: her being up there. And so before Shirley Jones dies,
• 4:44
Speaker 5: I just want to meet her and see if she
• 4:46
Speaker 5: remembers a Rosemary Brunetti having been up there.
• 4:50
  Speaker 4: My mom.
• 4:51
Speaker 5: Her father wouldn't let her continue in theater and opera
• 4:55
Speaker 5: and singing, because you know what happens to those people,
• 4:58
Speaker 5: That's all he said. But Shirley Jones did. And she
• 5:02
Speaker 5: was from like Coreopolis or something up near Pittsburgh.
• 5:05
  Speaker 3: I learned a lot today.
• 5:06
Speaker 5: Oh yeah, so who's your buddy. He's from Lake Burke, Allen.
• 5:09
  Speaker 4: That's it.
• 5:09
Speaker 3: My my my unpaid agent.
• 5:11
Speaker 5: Burke out, He's going to be my unpaid agent.
• 5:14
Speaker 3: Well Burke Burke. Maybe he listens to the show every day.
• 5:16
Speaker 3: His office is in DC, but he listens to the
• 5:18
Speaker 3: show on the app. I need him, mister Allen, you
• 5:21
Speaker 3: are going to get a call from Commissioner.
• 5:23
Speaker 5: I mean, and I have I have an email back
• 5:26
Speaker 5: and forth, but I don't know if it was a
• 5:28
Speaker 5: real person who you know, it was just a shyster
• 5:32
Speaker 5: trying to tell me they knew somebody.
• 5:33
  Speaker 3: And I promise you and I'm and I'm literally I'm
• 5:37
Speaker 3: being as unprofessional as I could because I'm going to
• 5:39
Speaker 3: text you the number right now while I'm thinking about it.
• 5:42
Speaker 3: But I can promise you that in the world of entertainment,
• 5:45
Speaker 3: if Burke doesn't know them, he knows the guy that
• 5:48
  Speaker 3: knows them.
• 5:49
Speaker 5: And I'm like ready and like Shirley Jones is getting
• 5:52
Speaker 5: up there in the years. But I think I saw
• 5:54
Speaker 5: somewhere where she had a birthday and she was still
• 5:57
Speaker 5: you know, you know, with it. And then here comes
• 6:00
Speaker 5: comes he all saying, hey, you know my mom, And
• 6:03
  Speaker 5: that's what I want. And I'll let folks know I'll
• 6:06
Speaker 5: keep you up today.
• 6:07
Speaker 3: There you go, well, I just sent you birk phone
• 6:08
Speaker 3: numbers here. Thank you out You did tell me they
• 6:11
Speaker 3: had several things you want to talk about. What what's
• 6:14
  Speaker 3: Operation GPA?
• 6:15
Speaker 5: No. Operation GPA has been going on for twenty years
• 6:18
Speaker 5: and it is a collaboration with the Sheriff's Department and
• 6:23
Speaker 5: giving funds to the county high schools through our Public
• 6:27
Speaker 5: Safety Grant initiative that we have, and it is an
• 6:33
Speaker 5: opportunity to teach students the Sheriff's department. Hang on a second,
• 6:40
Speaker 5: I just lost my notes because I wrote them down.
• 6:43
Speaker 5: It is an effort to educate students and the public
• 6:45
Speaker 5: on the dangers of them pair driver and particularly concerning
• 6:48
Speaker 5: alcohol use. And it thrives to build those strong, those
• 6:51
Speaker 5: strong partnerships because prom is coming up and graduation is
• 6:56
Speaker 5: coming up, and we often get requests all the time
• 7:00
Speaker 5: that can you give this school? Can you give that school?
• 7:02
Speaker 5: And we say, well, we've already given this through the
• 7:05
Speaker 5: public public safety funds. So it's about one thousand or
• 7:09
Speaker 5: twenty five hundred dollars to each school high school to
• 7:13
Speaker 5: be able to use that. And it's good that you
• 7:17
Speaker 5: know the Sheriff's Department is there and they're out and
• 7:20
Speaker 5: we're going to do that tomorrow actually, so it'll be
• 7:23
Speaker 5: on the news again.
• 7:24
Speaker 3: Okay, so at the County commission meeting tomorrow that's going.
• 7:26
Speaker 5: To be No, We're going up to Metro at at
• 7:29
Speaker 5: ten am. Superintendent will be there, representatives of the school
• 7:33
Speaker 5: to receive the checks and it's really a good thing.
• 7:36
Speaker 3: We'll talk about this as we get a little bit closer.
• 7:39
Speaker 3: But I didn't want to throw this out there. The
• 7:40
Speaker 3: Canaw County spring cleanups will be happening according to the
• 7:42
Speaker 3: schedule that I saw commissioned. The first one is going
• 7:45
Speaker 3: to be in Cistonville on April eleventh, and we'll talk
• 7:47
Speaker 3: about that as we get a little bit closer.
• 7:49
Speaker 5: And closer and people were starting to clean up. If
• 7:51
Speaker 5: the weather would cooperate with us, people could Yeah, exactly exactly.
• 7:56
Speaker 3: Where are you, Brian Hughes. Yeah, two days in a
• 7:58
Speaker 3: row on it. But April eleventh is going to be
• 7:59
Speaker 3: the first one in Cistanville and we'll talk about that.
• 8:02
Speaker 3: I just want to count of put it on everybody's radar.
• 8:04
Speaker 3: Speaking of things coming up, you're gearing up for the
• 8:06
Speaker 3: Camp Virgil Tate egg hunt.
• 8:08
Speaker 5: Yes, it is a special type of egg hunt. It
• 8:11
Speaker 5: is a fundraiser obviously for Camp virgil Tate, but it
• 8:15
Speaker 5: also serves there's an opportunity. It's non competitive, and it's
• 8:21
Speaker 5: allergy friendly, and it is this Saturday, the twenty eighth.
• 8:24
Speaker 5: Thats the twenty eighth, this Saturday, from twelve to three.
• 8:28
Speaker 5: Tickets are fifteen dollars an egg hunt. Everybody wins prizes.
• 8:32
Speaker 5: There's local vendors, cool beans, coffee will be there, food
• 8:35
Speaker 5: and drink, so you have an opportunity to see a
• 8:37
Speaker 5: food truck. But also, I mean it's a plus all
• 8:41
Speaker 5: the way around. You help out Camp virgil Tape. You
• 8:44
Speaker 5: allow children to be in a non competitive of any age,
• 8:47
Speaker 5: children of any age, and a non competitive hunt and
• 8:49
Speaker 5: allergy friendly also, and they're not giving out candy. When
• 8:52
Speaker 5: you collect so many eggs. It's like what you would
• 8:55
Speaker 5: do at chunky cheese. You have so many eggs. You
• 8:57
Speaker 5: have so you are eligible for this prize. You have
• 9:00
Speaker 5: somebody eggs available for that prize and good prizes, not candy.
• 9:03
Speaker 3: So not candy. Well that'll make my good friend Millie
• 9:05
  Speaker 3: Snyder happy.
• 9:06
  Speaker 5: I guess everybody's good friend's awesome.
• 9:10
Speaker 3: She comes on the show with me once a month.
• 9:13
Speaker 3: Uh and uh uh she she she's an amazing person.
• 9:17
Speaker 3: Is it our friend? Okay, do you want to take
• 9:20
  Speaker 3: a call?
• 9:21
  Speaker 5: Commission?
• 9:21
Speaker 3: Okay? Always I always if I don't know the answer,
• 9:24
Speaker 3: I always want to always want to ask first. Okay, Yeah,
• 9:26
Speaker 3: we're good, Ryan, go ahead. Uh you're on with the
• 9:29
Speaker 3: commissioner Tenant, go ahead.
• 9:31
Speaker 7: Yes, this is I live in Tornado, right. Yes, And
• 9:36
Speaker 7: I was wondering, is it possible? I know the cities Charleston,
• 9:40
  Speaker 7: South Charleston, they have uh, I don't. I don't want
• 9:44
Speaker 7: to call them teams, but they expect, they expect us
• 9:48
Speaker 7: you to keep your in a certain orderly way. Is
• 9:53
Speaker 7: is there any way the county can enforce such a
• 9:55
Speaker 7: such a thing as that?
• 9:57
  Speaker 5: Yes, And and joke, I know you're driving. It's it's
• 10:02
Speaker 5: going in and out, and I know that you're driving.
• 10:05
Speaker 5: You probably thought of this when you heard us talk
• 10:07
Speaker 5: about the string the spring cleanup. But yes, our Planning
• 10:11
Speaker 5: Commission when whenever there are requests like that to take
• 10:14
Speaker 5: a look at if there's a property that is uh
• 10:20
Speaker 5: a blight or or terrible what's the word site sightly?
• 10:26
Speaker 5: Unsightly I guess excuse me, Yes, the Planning Commission can
• 10:31
Speaker 5: do that. We also have an ordinance that if there
• 10:35
Speaker 5: is uh, let's just garbage or sticks or things that
• 10:39
Speaker 5: might be close to a drain or run off, then
• 10:42
Speaker 5: we have an ordinance that says it's the responsibility of
• 10:45
Speaker 5: the homeowner to take care of that. So yes, we
• 10:48
Speaker 5: also have that in place, and I mean we're here
• 10:50
Speaker 5: to help. That's what the whole cleanup is about. You
• 10:53
Speaker 5: don't just bring your stuff to Sissonville or to the
• 10:58
Speaker 5: head the outlet of Cabin Creek. That's on the twenty
• 11:01
Speaker 5: fifth of April, and then this fall we'll have some
• 11:04
Speaker 5: in the Elkview area Cleandenon area up there. So we're
• 11:08
Speaker 5: here to help. We're not here to tell you to
• 11:10
Speaker 5: clean it up and not help. We're here to help
• 11:12
Speaker 5: and do that. Also, we also have through the Regional
• 11:15
Speaker 5: Development Authority where we can go and help you with
• 11:20
Speaker 5: demolition and get it cleaned up, and then you pay
• 11:24
Speaker 5: part of what it costs for the demolition. And if
• 11:27
Speaker 5: you don't pay it up, then you can't do you
• 11:29
Speaker 5: can't use that property yet or do anything with it
• 11:31
Speaker 5: until you've paid your portion of the demolition.
• 11:34
Speaker 7: Answer your question, don well, well, a little bit, but
• 11:38
Speaker 7: our Homeowners of Station Association went out it's defunct, but
• 11:43
  Speaker 7: I went I talked to a lawyer about a particular
• 11:45
Speaker 7: neighbor and he researched it for me, and a little
• 11:48
Speaker 7: lawyer is very I am the past spurred here on
• 11:52
Speaker 7: this station, and he told me that the restrictions are
• 11:56
Speaker 7: still in place in the neighborhood. They're attached to the
• 12:00
Speaker 7: deed of the property and they could still be enforced,
• 12:02
Speaker 7: but there's no homeowners association to enforce it in the
• 12:07
Speaker 7: county go that route on those restrictions, hits are attached.
• 12:12
  Speaker 8: To the deed.
• 12:12
Speaker 9: Like you said, well, that would still I don't know
• 12:16
Speaker 9: the answer fully, but I would think you we still
• 12:20
Speaker 9: would have authority because it's a blight and it could
• 12:24
  Speaker 9: be causing problems.
• 12:25
Speaker 3: With train could be a health issue as well.
• 12:27
  Speaker 10: Yes, all.
• 12:28
Speaker 5: And then also in my former life, I was Secretary
• 12:31
Speaker 5: of state where they also have homeowners associations registered, and
• 12:37
Speaker 5: maybe there needs to be a look into that and
• 12:42
Speaker 5: to see if it's you're saying it's defunct, but if
• 12:44
Speaker 5: it's on the book somewheres, I mean truly get it,
• 12:47
  Speaker 5: get it taken.
• 12:48
Speaker 3: On what I gathered from Don and I don't want
• 12:50
Speaker 3: to put words him out. Then I think, Don, I
• 12:51
Speaker 3: think you've got a bigger issue with the neighbor and
• 12:54
Speaker 3: what can be done as far as like a solid
• 12:56
Speaker 3: waste authority. And I know they're called different things in
• 12:58
Speaker 3: different counties. I think that's kind of what you're getting at.
• 13:00
Speaker 3: If if you've got a situation like that, what can
• 13:03
Speaker 3: be done about it?
• 13:03
Speaker 7: Is that where you're going with that, Don, Yes, that's
• 13:06
Speaker 7: what I was where I was going. But I know
• 13:10
Speaker 7: no one likes to get out of sail. But yeah,
• 13:13
Speaker 7: I mean, there're five or six dollars. It's the yards
• 13:16
Speaker 7: that ever cleaned up. They work on cars. There's rear ends, transmissions,
• 13:21
Speaker 7: old tires laid in the frick yard of them. And
• 13:24
Speaker 7: the rest of the neighborhood is fine except but you.
• 13:27
Speaker 3: Know, except for that one.
• 13:29
Speaker 7: It only takes one Hols West Virginia. It's could be
• 13:32
  Speaker 7: sometimes well.
• 13:33
Speaker 3: But it only takes one to bring down the values
• 13:35
Speaker 3: of everybody else. I mean, I completely understand.
• 13:37
Speaker 5: What you're saying, Okay, And we also have this is
• 13:40
Speaker 5: why we have such good staff. Chris Settles. There is
• 13:44
Speaker 5: a Public Nuisance and Property Ordinance of Kanawa County. It
• 13:48
Speaker 5: was actually adopted in two thousand and five. Don't wonder.
• 13:53
  Speaker 5: I didn't know too much about it. I wouldn't even
• 13:54
  Speaker 5: Secretary of State.
• 13:55
Speaker 3: There's still in college.
• 13:56
Speaker 5: But yeah, that's right. And it and mends the Public
• 14:00
Speaker 5: Ordinance of Conawa County to add a new section Structure
• 14:05
Speaker 5: Unfit Human Occupancy METTHEA. Pathan Lands and Men the existing
• 14:09
Speaker 5: section one or nine and what Chris also says, which
• 14:12
Speaker 5: makes a good point. We don't know these things sometimes,
• 14:15
Speaker 5: and so we are complaint driven. So you're gonna need
• 14:19
Speaker 5: to call the County Commission's office. And here's the phone number.
• 14:22
Speaker 3: Can you remember this? Don never driving? Can you remember this?
• 14:26
Speaker 5: I mean, oh yeah, well this is actually easy. Three
• 14:30
Speaker 5: five to seven is like the it's three oh four
• 14:32
Speaker 5: three five sevens the county zero zero five seven zero.
• 14:38
Speaker 3: Zero five sevens. Remember the three five seven zero five
• 14:42
  Speaker 3: sevens seven zero.
• 14:43
Speaker 7: You got that, Don, I've got I've got it. I
• 14:46
Speaker 7: appreciate you taking the call, and I hope I didn't
• 14:49
Speaker 7: take any time away down.
• 14:50
  Speaker 3: Oh you're found, you're fined.
• 14:51
Speaker 5: Oh I have so much other stuff to talk about too.
• 14:54
Speaker 5: I've been in Mineral County on Monday. John.
• 14:56
Speaker 3: We appreciate the phone call. Thanks a lot. It's nine
• 14:58
Speaker 3: to twenty two. Did we Okay, I want to move
• 15:00
Speaker 3: on to a couple other things here. Uh, it is
• 15:03
Speaker 3: election time, or it will be soon.
• 15:04
Speaker 5: It is election time now.
• 15:06
Speaker 3: It never stops. That's right, for better or for worse,
• 15:09
Speaker 3: It never it never actually stops. But I'm talking about
• 15:11
Speaker 3: you know, we'll get into the primary and early voting
• 15:14
Speaker 3: and stuff like that, and I know that everybody's kind
• 15:17
Speaker 3: of gearing up for that right now. And again something
• 15:18
Speaker 3: you know a little something about getting ready for elections.
• 15:21
Speaker 5: Well, I mean, here's the thing too, because we haven't
• 15:23
Speaker 5: seen it. We're starting to see signs. You know, mostly
• 15:26
Speaker 5: people see it on the outward facing with the candidates,
• 15:29
Speaker 5: with the signs and the commercials and things like that.
• 15:32
Speaker 5: But ask a county clerk what they're doing. I saw
• 15:34
Speaker 5: Vera McCormick in the hallway and she kept saying she's
• 15:37
Speaker 5: like Natalie, and everybody knows Vera, and you know, Vera
• 15:40
Speaker 5: and I we we get along, we love each other.
• 15:42
Speaker 5: We've butted ahead a few times, heads a few times.
• 15:45
Speaker 3: But everybody has butted heads with Vera McCormick at one
• 15:48
Speaker 3: And I mean that in the best possible way.
• 15:50
Speaker 5: Sometimes county clerks don't like secretaries of state, and I
• 15:53
Speaker 5: always say, and God love them. They love me now
• 15:57
Speaker 5: they love me because their favorite secretary is the next one.
• 16:01
  Speaker 11: Yes.
• 16:02
Speaker 5: Anyway, Vera's like Natalie. We're looking over the ballots and
• 16:06
Speaker 5: She's like and it's so large, and it is especially
• 16:10
Speaker 5: for a primary, and especially because this primary election midterms,
• 16:14
Speaker 5: we have the executive committee state and county executive committees
• 16:18
Speaker 5: for both parties, Democrat and Republican. And Vera had this
• 16:21
Speaker 5: wonderful idea leading up to this that she was working on.
• 16:26
Speaker 5: I was on board. The county commissioners and Mark Slotnick,
• 16:29
Speaker 5: who's the other the two lawyers, Mark Slotnik and Chris
• 16:34
Speaker 5: Settles really take care of us and protect me from myself.
• 16:38
Speaker 5: But we were all on board. We just needed to
• 16:40
Speaker 5: get the two parties to be to lower the number
• 16:44
Speaker 5: of executive committee members. Anyway, that's a long story, but
• 16:49
Speaker 5: right now that's what's taking place behind the scenes. And
• 16:53
Speaker 5: she is focused and the folks in the County Clerk's office,
• 16:56
Speaker 5: and so am I in the County commission. I mean,
• 16:59
Speaker 5: that is what I can bring to the County Commission.
• 17:01
Speaker 5: You know, right off the bat. You know last year
• 17:04
Speaker 5: I told you things. I was still learning stuff. I
• 17:06
Speaker 5: might not have even been able to answer some of
• 17:07
Speaker 5: these questions as freely and as eloquently as I do now.
• 17:12
Speaker 5: But elections is what I can help with. And I
• 17:16
Speaker 5: asked Vera, and she's like, we've already gone to the
• 17:19
Speaker 5: ballot commissioners to look over it, you know, always checking
• 17:22
Speaker 5: and making sure that those ballots are correct and the
• 17:25
Speaker 5: way they're supposed to be.
• 17:26
  Speaker 1: So.
• 17:26
Speaker 5: At the same time, all this behind the scene work
• 17:29
Speaker 5: is being doing, getting poll workers, setting up ballots, finally
• 17:33
Speaker 5: making sure the polling places work. They're also having to
• 17:38
Speaker 5: battle lawmakers, and not just state lawmakers, but federal lawmakers.
• 17:43
Speaker 5: And right now what we have on board is on
• 17:46
Speaker 5: the federal level in the US Senate, and we're talking
• 17:48
Speaker 5: about the Save Act, and that is a terrible idea
• 17:53
Speaker 5: because it's going to hurt not just I mean, it
• 17:56
Speaker 5: is going to hurt women more than anything else because
• 17:59
Speaker 5: they want you to show to get registered to vote,
• 18:02
Speaker 5: you need to show a passport. How many people have passports.
• 18:08
Speaker 5: You can't easily do that. And then for women, you
• 18:11
Speaker 5: have to show a document that has your name on it,
• 18:13
Speaker 5: so a birth certificate, but that might not be your name.
• 18:16
Speaker 5: Now you have your birth name, you have your married name.
• 18:20
Speaker 5: For many you have you may have gotten a divorce
• 18:22
Speaker 5: and now you have a new married name. So they
• 18:24
Speaker 5: have to go through all of these and people say,
• 18:26
Speaker 5: well we should have to show ID. Guess what we
• 18:28
Speaker 5: already show ID. Insertina eighteen exactly. And you show your vote.
• 18:33
Speaker 5: You can vote, show your voter registration card which made
• 18:36
Speaker 5: sure that that's who you were when you got registered
• 18:39
Speaker 5: to vote first place. Yes, you had, and if you
• 18:42
Speaker 5: even mailed it in you had to show a photo
• 18:45
Speaker 5: ID the first time you used it. And so now
• 18:48
Speaker 5: you're on the books with your signature. Now you're on
• 18:50
Speaker 5: the Now you can show your ID.
• 18:52
Speaker 4: With what you have.
• 18:53
Speaker 5: And this is just making extra hoops to go through.
• 18:56
Speaker 5: And it's not about on election day or early election day.
• 19:00
Speaker 5: It's leading up to it. It's a barrier leading up
• 19:03
Speaker 5: to it. Right now we have the voting or voter
• 19:06
Speaker 5: registration ends April twenty first, and so you're thinking, I'm
• 19:10
Speaker 5: going to get registered. I'll get there, that's a couple
• 19:12
Speaker 5: of weeks away, I'll be all right, and then before
• 19:13
Speaker 5: you know it, it's April twenty first, and before you
• 19:15
Speaker 5: know it, you don't have the correct name, you don't
• 19:17
Speaker 5: have the correct documents with all your names on it.
• 19:19
Speaker 5: So Save Act is bad. Talk to your US senators.
• 19:23
Speaker 5: I talked to Senator Capito when she was here. You know,
• 19:27
Speaker 5: I didn't want to look like a you know, looking
• 19:30
Speaker 5: a good thing in the mouth, as they say, but
• 19:32
Speaker 5: she was handing out money and I was there and
• 19:34
Speaker 5: I just said, you know, can you not vote for
• 19:36
Speaker 5: the Save Act? So I'm trying to do my due
• 19:39
Speaker 5: diligence with that because a county clerk should not have
• 19:43
Speaker 5: to worry about what's going on in the federal government
• 19:45
Speaker 5: when they're busy trying to get the ballot correct. Same
• 19:48
Speaker 5: goes in the state. There were a lot of election laws,
• 19:51
Speaker 5: and I always thought we never did this during election years,
• 19:54
Speaker 5: focus on so many election laws and try to make
• 19:56
Speaker 5: these changes, because the clerk should not have to be
• 19:59
Speaker 5: running up to the capital to say this is how
• 20:01
Speaker 5: the election process works, when they should be focused on
• 20:05
Speaker 5: and have the opportunity to be focused on preparing an election.
• 20:07
Speaker 3: All right, I think we have a call, and Roy,
• 20:10
Speaker 3: let me tell you what we're gonna do. We're gonna
• 20:12
Speaker 3: take this call. Then we'll take the break and I
• 20:14
Speaker 3: will see if Commissioner I've already been in touch with
• 20:16
Speaker 3: my second guests because Commissioner Tenant can stick around a
• 20:18
Speaker 3: little bit. So we're going to kind of transition a
• 20:20
Speaker 3: little bit. But I think we have a call, So
• 20:22
Speaker 3: go ahead, Eddie, I think was Eddie're.
• 20:23
Speaker 4: On the air? Yes, yeah, you're on.
• 20:26
Speaker 3: What we're doing doing fine? You're on with Commissioner Tenant?
• 20:28
  Speaker 5: Hello?
• 20:29
Speaker 4: Yes, Hell Nanley, how are you good?
• 20:31
Speaker 5: I'm doing well. I'm getting to talk for twenty seven minutes.
• 20:34
Speaker 4: So far everything in the county seems to be going well.
• 20:39
Speaker 4: But Mayor good one that's helped me so much with
• 20:42
Speaker 4: helping to keep up the behind Mary c Snow Elementary,
• 20:47
Speaker 4: the abandoned railroad tracks that go back to the floor
• 20:51
Speaker 4: or to the underpass. That is such an environmental nightmare
• 20:57
Speaker 4: that I was told ken Or fifteen years ago. It
• 21:01
Speaker 4: was a thirty million dollar environmental nightmare. And people have
• 21:06
Speaker 4: come seem to think that that is a city trust dump.
• 21:10
Speaker 4: They just cleaned it up, they cleaned it all up,
• 21:13
Speaker 4: all the trash, everything, and then it wasn't a week
• 21:16
Speaker 4: later they come back through there and some people think
• 21:19
Speaker 4: that's just a trust dump underneath that railroad underpass. And
• 21:24
Speaker 4: I can devalues my property. I owned three lots on
• 21:29
Speaker 4: this corner and it devalues my property so bad? Can
• 21:35
Speaker 4: we not get like it cleaned up completely and put
• 21:39
Speaker 4: a chain link fence around it. But it's something to
• 21:42
Speaker 4: where they can't even look through underneath there anymore. Something
• 21:48
  Speaker 4: to stop this.
• 21:50
Speaker 5: That's what I was thinking too. All the hard work,
• 21:52
Speaker 5: and I hear the mayor all the time talk about
• 21:55
Speaker 5: the city employees and all the hard work that they do, and.
• 21:58
Speaker 4: It's like they do they great. Yeah, Oh I called
• 22:02
Speaker 4: that guy knows my name personally, I call.
• 22:05
Speaker 5: Hey, that's not good or bad. I don't know if
• 22:06
Speaker 5: that's good or bad.
• 22:07
Speaker 4: He goes, what's up, Eddie? He's like, is it bad again?
• 22:12
Speaker 4: I was like, it's terrible underneath here. And they came
• 22:16
Speaker 4: and they cleaned it. I mean the city employees. They
• 22:18
Speaker 4: showed up with like tmcity trucks and black host and
• 22:22
Speaker 4: cleaned it all up. And it was in a week later.
• 22:25
Speaker 4: There was a garbage I mean, uh, grocery cards and trash.
• 22:32
Speaker 5: Well, I mean what what I would say? I mean,
• 22:35
Speaker 5: And I'm sure the mayor has thought of this. She's
• 22:38
Speaker 5: she's innovated, she has a good team. Yes, I was
• 22:41
Speaker 5: thinking the chain link fence. Also. You know what sometimes
• 22:44
Speaker 5: that does. It is when people find out, oh, my
• 22:47
Speaker 5: buddy was fined fifty five hundred dollars for dumping the trash.
• 22:53
Speaker 4: Yeah, they went, yeah, they found the mail. They found
• 22:56
Speaker 4: a bag that had open mail in it, that had
• 22:59
Speaker 4: the of where it came from, and.
• 23:02
Speaker 5: They look, okay, well, I mean that's what that's what
• 23:06
Speaker 5: I were looking at. And that's the thing the city.
• 23:10
Speaker 5: The city knows, you know, we we we have to
• 23:12
Speaker 5: we have to rely on grants. I mean, the county
• 23:15
Speaker 5: does anytime when there's something that we're looking new to do,
• 23:20
Speaker 5: is we ask for federal grants, or we ask for
• 23:23
Speaker 5: grants or you know, we apply for grants that might
• 23:25
  Speaker 5: be a help.
• 23:26
Speaker 4: They're going if they're going to leave it, and ma'am,
• 23:29
Speaker 4: it needs to be torn down. It's falling down all
• 23:32
Speaker 4: around itself as is. But they said it would be
• 23:36
Speaker 4: a thirty million dollars. It was a thirty million dollar
• 23:40
Speaker 4: environmental nightmare because the grounds contaminated with that's right, soak
• 23:46
Speaker 4: those beams with for years, Yeah, soaked into the ground
• 23:51
Speaker 4: and from second Avenue back it's soaked into the ground.
• 23:57
Speaker 4: And people think they can just drop through that alley
• 24:01
Speaker 4: and just set out their trash and then the crows.
• 24:04
Speaker 4: It's not the dogs and stuff getting in it.
• 24:07
Speaker 5: Well, I wonder if they pay for their I just
• 24:11
Speaker 5: sent off payment for the Charleston Sanitary Board, like if
• 24:15
Speaker 5: you're getting water, if you if you pay for water,
• 24:18
Speaker 5: you get that Charleston Sanitary board. So your garbage is
• 24:21
Speaker 5: paid for. Why don't they just put it out there
• 24:23
Speaker 5: and have it picked up?
• 24:25
  Speaker 4: I know, I don't know. I don't know why they
• 24:28
Speaker 4: wouldn't just set it out by the street on Fridays.
• 24:32
Speaker 4: They just set bags and trash in there and then
• 24:35
Speaker 4: crows stare into them and then it's scattered everywhere. Right,
• 24:40
Speaker 4: I want to values to values everybody's property up and
• 24:44
Speaker 4: down all the way back to Florida on Florida Street back.
• 24:49
Speaker 4: If it's just it's terrible, all.
• 24:51
Speaker 3: Right, the commissioner, do you want to give me like
• 24:53
Speaker 3: twenty second? I mean, just couldn't you want to contact
• 24:55
Speaker 3: you want to throw out that number you did before?
• 24:56
Speaker 5: This is really well, this is this is I don't
• 24:59
Speaker 5: want Yeah, I don't want you to get your hopes
• 25:01
Speaker 5: up because it is a city issue. Although I mean,
• 25:04
Speaker 5: and she may be able, the mayor may if that,
• 25:07
Speaker 5: if it's time for that railroad crossing to go down,
• 25:11
Speaker 5: that might be a federal grant if it's still federally
• 25:14
Speaker 5: owned there, I know it. One time they were trying
• 25:17
Speaker 5: to make it a rails to trail.
• 25:20
Speaker 4: The railroad coming out. I've tried to go through them.
• 25:22
Speaker 4: They once it's abandoned, the city just I guess this
• 25:27
Speaker 4: con sects ownership of it.
• 25:29
Speaker 5: No, I'm not sure that's fully the case, because we're
• 25:32
Speaker 5: trying to get some abandoned railroad. Maybe they still it's
• 25:36
Speaker 5: not abandoned, they still own it. Yeah, that's yeah. I
• 25:39
Speaker 5: just I can't answer fully the question. But you already
• 25:44
Speaker 5: know the planning guy the city.
• 25:47
Speaker 4: I've bothered Amy Amy go so bad, but I'm sure
• 25:51
  Speaker 4: she's tired.
• 25:52
  Speaker 5: Here.
• 25:52
  Speaker 7: My name.
• 25:54
Speaker 3: Eddie, Eddie, I got We're way overdue for break. I
• 25:57

Speaker 2: to our scholarship that goes to a student in the
• 30:01
Speaker 2: Canal Valley each year, and by choosing the chapter scholarships
• 30:08
Speaker 2: in the Canal Valley Alumni chapter membership don't be able
• 30:13
Speaker 2: to contribute that. And I do want to say, you know,
• 30:16
Speaker 2: and it probably doesn't make me a good I love
• 30:20
Speaker 2: my president, but a good third of the university give
• 30:23
Speaker 2: some wherever while we appreciate your contributions here, whether it's
• 30:29
Speaker 2: today or at any of our events, it's just the
• 30:33
Speaker 2: WVU Marshall Baseball game, or other things will be doing
• 30:37
Speaker 2: later this summer, anywhere that strikes your heart as it
• 30:42
Speaker 2: comes to the blue and gold of WVU, whether it's
• 30:46
Speaker 2: the school, Adventist Re or accessibility services or four h
• 30:52
Speaker 2: in WVU, today's the day to do it. And again
• 30:56
Speaker 2: the key point is it's tax deductible.
• 30:59
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 31:00
Speaker 3: Well, I think the bottom line here, Eric is that
• 31:01
Speaker 3: you do good stuff, you know, and no matter. You know,
• 31:04
Speaker 3: whatever that is for you is fine. But as long
• 31:05
Speaker 3: as you're doing good stuff in the spirit of the
• 31:07
  Speaker 3: day of giving.
• 31:09
Speaker 2: Now I will say, if you do contribute to our chapter,
• 31:12
Speaker 2: the special we're doing today is for every fifty dollars
• 31:17
Speaker 2: you will get a free Marshall baseball ticket, as many
• 31:20
  Speaker 2: as you want.
• 31:21
Speaker 7: And I'll tell you what.
• 31:23
Speaker 2: I'm going to be getting those phone calls a month
• 31:25
Speaker 2: from now saying do you.
• 31:26
  Speaker 15: Have any tickets?
• 31:28
Speaker 2: And then the highest person that donates to our chapter
• 31:31
Speaker 2: will also get to see at the April twentieth Charleston
• 31:36
Speaker 2: Mac dinner at our table. And that's about the two
• 31:40
Speaker 2: hundred dollars value so the Marshall things.
• 31:45
Speaker 5: So go ahead and you're given the Marshall tickets for
• 31:48
  Speaker 5: the w W Marshall game.
• 31:50
Speaker 2: On Venis on May sixth at Gunmar Park for every Yeah,
• 31:56
Speaker 2: so for every sixty dollars you donate, you get one ticket.
• 32:00
Speaker 2: I'll tell you in yours past. About two weeks out,
• 32:03
Speaker 2: I started getting phone calls about, hey, do you have
• 32:06
  Speaker 2: anything left?
• 32:07
Speaker 5: Or I don't so well do you say, do you
• 32:10
Speaker 5: have any fifty dollars bill on that you can give
• 32:14
Speaker 5: any time? But today I know as a is a
• 32:16
Speaker 5: marking that to say, you know.
• 32:21
Speaker 2: What, I tell you what WVU and Marshall, if you
• 32:23
Speaker 2: didn't pay attention playing a great game last night in Huntington.
• 32:29
Speaker 2: WVU won three nothing and ended on a double play.
• 32:32
Speaker 2: But the atmosphere between the two programs as best as
• 32:37
Speaker 2: I've ever seen it. And that'll be a great event
• 32:40
Speaker 2: on May fifth at Gomart Park.
• 32:43
Speaker 3: All right, hey, Eric, I appreciate you working with us

• 37:00
Speaker 5: I can tell you how it started at Channel twelve,
• 37:05
Speaker 5: oh you know, I mean back in the early nineties
• 37:10
Speaker 5: and we had the morning you know how you have
• 37:13
Speaker 5: the morning show like half then it was only a
• 37:15
Speaker 5: half hour. Then you'd have the cut ins like at
• 37:17
Speaker 5: seven twenty five, eight twenty five, well then the eight
• 37:19
Speaker 5: fifty five one they decided to have it be five
• 37:24
Speaker 5: minutes of interviewing someone from the community. Apple harvest, no
• 37:30
Speaker 5: Salem Apple butter Festival, all of these things. And so
• 37:34
Speaker 5: when you have to have a conversation on air. You
• 37:36
Speaker 5: can do that. Then the next thing I can, I
• 37:39
Speaker 5: can I can visually point to what helped me be
• 37:43
Speaker 5: a better reporter. It was those things. And then we
• 37:47
Speaker 5: were doing a live show from the Mountain State Forest
• 37:51
Speaker 5: Festival in Elkins and we had to feel time in
• 37:54
Speaker 5: between and they and I had to like if something
• 37:56
Speaker 5: had messed up with the coronation. They just kept putting
• 37:59
Speaker 5: people in front of me here and I would just
• 38:02
Speaker 5: ask them questions that and I learned that the confidence
• 38:05
Speaker 5: from doing the little five minute tape things to the
• 38:08
Speaker 5: confidence there too. I can interview anybody, and you know
• 38:12
  Speaker 5: what I'd like to do sometime I don't. I don't
• 38:14
Speaker 5: know how you promote it. I'm not a huge I
• 38:17
Speaker 5: don't even listen to podcasts, and I know that people do,
• 38:20
Speaker 5: but I would like to have podcasts where I don't
• 38:24
Speaker 5: know the person and they just sit down and they
• 38:26
Speaker 5: give me. You get a few things that you know
• 38:28
Speaker 5: about them, and you have to start asking them questions
• 38:30
Speaker 5: and you have to feel like.
• 38:32
Speaker 3: Breaker type things like we've all gone through things like that.
• 38:35
Speaker 3: I know I went through Leadership Quest Virginia and one
• 38:37
Speaker 3: of the things that they did was they wanted to promote.
• 38:40
Speaker 3: They really wanted the networking of you going out and
• 38:43
Speaker 3: meeting people and talking to people that you didn't know
• 38:45
Speaker 3: and finding out something about them and then then getting
• 38:49
Speaker 3: up and giving a report about that person.
• 38:51
  Speaker 5: Oh.
• 38:54
Speaker 3: Yes, One question I want to ask you, as it
• 38:56
Speaker 3: relates to your political career, Okay, whether it's secretary of
• 38:59
Speaker 3: State here or whatever. The things that you learned in
• 39:04
Speaker 3: the media, you know, being a television reporter and anchor
• 39:07
Speaker 3: is as you were when you went to elected office,
• 39:12
Speaker 3: either as a candidate or as an office holder. Did
• 39:15
Speaker 3: it give you, like a special little insight so you
• 39:17
Speaker 3: could say, well, like I know what they're doing. I
• 39:20
Speaker 3: mean I would think it would. And the confidence that
• 39:22
Speaker 3: it that it gives you, I think I think it
• 39:24
  Speaker 3: would be helpful.
• 39:25
Speaker 5: Yes, it is, especially when you have young reporters and
• 39:30
Speaker 5: we're local. We can't deny that we're local. Sometimes this
• 39:33
Speaker 5: is a reporter's first stop, whether whether you know north
• 39:37
Speaker 5: central West Virginia anyway, Beckley, I just said Clarks because
• 39:40
Speaker 5: I was there. But I'd be like, do you need
• 39:41
Speaker 5: a white balance? And they'd be like, oh, you know
• 39:45
Speaker 5: about white balance. But I'll also say that early on,
• 39:50
  Speaker 5: I'm a terrible. I was a terrible interview e TV.
• 39:54
Speaker 5: People you would think would be a radio people would
• 39:56
Speaker 5: be good. No terrible, no terrible.
• 39:58
Speaker 3: They are well because what happens is is we are
• 40:02
Speaker 3: used to being the one asking the questions, and a
• 40:05
Speaker 3: lot of times we're not comfortable with being on the
• 40:07
Speaker 3: other end. I sometimes they'll bring me in on talk
• 40:10
Speaker 3: line or something, and if I don't know what the
• 40:11
Speaker 3: questions are going to be. I'm not saying I can't
• 40:14
Speaker 3: do it. It's just that it's different. It's totally. It's totally.
• 40:18
Speaker 3: And when I've done interviews with different people about my career,
• 40:21
Speaker 3: it's like, as somebody who loves themselves like I do,
• 40:24
Speaker 3: it's sometimes it's hard to talk.
• 40:25
Speaker 5: About yourself exactly well, I love myself and it's easy
• 40:29
Speaker 5: to talk about me. I mean only because I do
• 40:32
Speaker 5: the same thing to me that I do to other people.
• 40:37
Speaker 5: Like I'm going to give you like you would have
• 40:39
Speaker 5: never known. I knew I've needed to text you forever
• 40:42
Speaker 5: about Bert Allen. And that's just like, like, isn't that
• 40:48
Speaker 5: so interesting that my mother does this? And how would
• 40:52
Speaker 5: you do this? And the time period and you know,
• 40:54
Speaker 5: she was sixteen years old and so that's how. That's
• 40:57
Speaker 5: why I like to talk to people that I don't know,
• 41:00
Speaker 5: and I can dig into something that's.
• 41:03
Speaker 3: Everybody is fascinating. And I mean, here's the way I
• 41:05
Speaker 3: have always looked at it. I don't care whether you're
• 41:08
Speaker 3: you know, the greatest running back that ever played the game,
• 41:11
Speaker 3: or whether you served ice cream for forty years in Iowa.
• 41:14
Speaker 3: Everybody's got a story, yes, I mean everybody. And sometimes
• 41:17
Speaker 3: those stories are a lot more interesting, right, I mean
• 41:19
Speaker 3: to be honest with you, because their stories haven't been
• 41:22
Speaker 3: told a thousand times.
• 41:24
Speaker 5: Yes, and you want it like everybody knows. I was
• 41:26
Speaker 5: the Mountaineer. I mean, I'm still crying over the women's game.
• 41:29
Speaker 3: I was there about that.
• 41:31
Speaker 5: Actually, what was I going to say? Well, okay, go ahead,
• 41:36
  Speaker 5: let me.
• 41:36
Speaker 3: Knock got a couple of texts here, Okay, all right,
• 41:39
Speaker 3: hold on, I've already lost it here, Tex says hey.
• 41:42
Speaker 3: Dave went to the WVU women's basketball tournament games this
• 41:45
Speaker 3: weekend and was kind of disappointed that the response for
• 41:47
Speaker 3: opposing player introductions have changed. Fun question for Natalie, can
• 41:51
Speaker 3: she remember the five phrases from when we went to school?
• 41:55
  Speaker 15: There?
• 41:55
Speaker 3: For other teams, I will include them so what's the
• 41:58
  Speaker 3: big deal Eggs?
• 42:02
Speaker 5: And yeah, wait a minute, I was late anyway, I mean, okay,
• 42:13
Speaker 5: I was late, so I wanted to so be early.
• 42:15
Speaker 5: I had gone to Mineral County and spoke at Frankfort
• 42:18
Speaker 5: and Kaiser High School, which is another thing I can
• 42:20
Speaker 5: talk about. These young women at Kaiser started the Tenant
• 42:24
Speaker 5: Society and they named it after me because their teacher
• 42:28
Speaker 5: had told them about me. That's a whole other story.
• 42:30
Speaker 5: So anyway, I had to come back from Kaiser on
• 42:32
Speaker 5: the interstate and then had to stop and do you know,
• 42:35
Speaker 5: zoom is great, but then you you don't get early
• 42:37
Speaker 5: to the game. So I did not hear the introduction. However,
• 42:41
Speaker 5: during the game, you know, and and NCAA had all
• 42:44
Speaker 5: these different regulations and they had to be nice to
• 42:46
Speaker 5: Kentucky and you know, and do the same thing for them.
• 42:49
Speaker 5: They played Sweet Caroline and it was like you knew it.
• 42:53
Speaker 5: We're like on the edge of the seat, and I
• 42:54
Speaker 5: said to my brother, did we pick this song? They
• 42:57
Speaker 5: must allow us to pick some songs. And then it
• 43:00
Speaker 5: just blew up so that one. So I don't know
• 43:04
Speaker 5: what the introduction was like, and I don't know what
• 43:06
Speaker 5: else they said, And I liked it, but I do
• 43:11
Speaker 5: remember those maybe maybe they.
• 43:13
Speaker 3: Mean okay, I don't know. Texas. Completely off topic, was
• 43:17
Speaker 3: wondering how Delaney is doing these days. Many of us
• 43:20
Speaker 3: remember when she was born. While you were WCCHS television
• 43:23
Speaker 3: and medical issues, you had praying all as well, have
• 43:25
  Speaker 3: a great day.
• 43:27
Speaker 5: Oh, thank you so much. Her birthday was just on Saturday,
• 43:31
Speaker 5: March twenty first. That's why I didn't go to the
• 43:33
Speaker 5: first round of the WVU Women's game. She turned twenty
• 43:37
Speaker 5: four years old. And Dave, you were Logan, I mean
• 43:41
Speaker 5: Logan or Huntington or somewhere twenty four years ago. And
• 43:45
Speaker 5: you know, people saw me get bigger and bigger on
• 43:47
Speaker 5: the morning show, and they.
• 43:49
Speaker 3: Saw me do the same thing.
• 43:51
Speaker 1: Now they see me now.
• 43:53
Speaker 5: I can't even fit in my clothes. And that's another
• 43:56
Speaker 5: story too. And when they knew I was going to
• 44:01
Speaker 5: go the next day on the twenty first of March
• 44:03
Speaker 5: and be induced, and the next thing that came that
• 44:05
Speaker 5: they heard was she had been rushed to Pittsburgh Children's
• 44:08
Speaker 5: Hospital because of a heart defect and she had open
• 44:12
Speaker 5: heart surgery at a week later. And there are people
• 44:14
Speaker 5: who say, when I heard that Natalie, I fell on
• 44:16
Speaker 5: my knees and I started praying, and that's what I
• 44:19
Speaker 5: ask every time. So thank you to that texter who
• 44:22
Speaker 5: says I'm praying for Keep praying for her and watch
• 44:26
Speaker 5: her too. This is mother. You know, I'm still tied
• 44:30
Speaker 5: with WCCHS and I still go over there and I
• 44:33
Speaker 5: still love WCCHS. But Delaney is on wowk Now and
• 44:37
Speaker 5: she was a nighttime reporter and actually last night she
• 44:40
Speaker 5: went lit like she was having a rough day, like
• 44:43
Speaker 5: they didn't do this at the Putnam Commission. And then
• 44:45
Speaker 5: then she gets this text like there's a barricade at
• 44:48
Speaker 5: a they've shut down a neighborhood or in Barbersville. And
• 44:52
Speaker 5: then it's hard for me to stay awake until eleven o'clock.
• 44:56
Speaker 5: But somehow I was listening to something. I turned around like, oh,
• 44:58
Speaker 5: it's eleven o'clock and she was lot. So continue the
• 45:02
Speaker 5: prayers for her, for her heart.
• 45:05
  Speaker 11: It.
• 45:06
Speaker 5: I mean, I think we tell people this, she's got
• 45:08
Speaker 5: a little leakage that you know, we have never allowed
• 45:12
Speaker 5: her to use it as an excuse or anything, and
• 45:15
Speaker 5: she has used that experience for her platform and community service.
• 45:20
Speaker 5: Scarred but stronger because she's competing in Miss West Virginia again.
• 45:24
Speaker 5: She's miss Capital City right now. And what she has
• 45:27
Speaker 5: done is she has given a sorority. Sister of mine
• 45:32
Speaker 5: when we were in Pittsburgh sent her a stuffed little
• 45:35
Speaker 5: lion that we kept by her bed, and now Delaney
• 45:39
Speaker 5: gives out lions to children or families who have going
• 45:44
Speaker 5: or going through heart surgeries or you know, she's expanding
• 45:48
Speaker 5: it for good heart care that we can't. We talk
• 45:51
Speaker 5: about no candy, let's have fruits and vegetables. But that
• 45:55
Speaker 5: is her platform because she has this scar that she's
• 45:57
Speaker 5: always had since being a week old, and she doesn't
• 46:01
Speaker 5: want anybody else to feel the way that she felt
• 46:04
Speaker 5: when she was little. And now she tells me all
• 46:06
Speaker 5: these things that I didn't really know as as she
• 46:10
Speaker 5: was growing up, how self conscious she was, how embarrassed
• 46:14
Speaker 5: sometimes that she was about it. And I do remember
• 46:18
Speaker 5: her asking, Eric, do you have it? Does everybody have
• 46:23
Speaker 5: a scar? She would ask one of us, and we're
• 46:25
Speaker 5: like no, and hers has two holes and it looks
• 46:29
Speaker 5: like and we sell her when you look at it,
• 46:30
Speaker 5: it's just God. It's God smiling back at you, and
• 46:33
Speaker 5: that's the way it looks at So that's that's how
• 46:35
Speaker 5: Delaney's doing and I would you know, I was going
• 46:38
Speaker 5: to ask you later on if she could come on
• 46:40
Speaker 5: and be interviewed and you can talk about the scholarship partner.
