- 0:00SPEAKER_00: A couple more texts on what do they do with roadkill.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: And we're talking about the roadkill that you see get scooped up every once in a while.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: It might be somebody on the side of the road with a shovel or their own.
- 0:10SPEAKER_01: Oh no, no, it's it's Tyler.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: It's Tyler's first job, and uh his uncle got him in with the uh city or the town.
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: And Hank, who is uh uh who's driving the truck, well, he's been with the town now for about 25, 30 years.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: So he'll retire there.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: He's got a lot of seniority.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: Uh but Tyler was told, listen, if you're not gonna go to college, you're gonna go uh do a municipal uh job and you're gonna get the good benefits, maybe not the best pay, and you get to scoop roadkill for your first job.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: But don't worry, one day you'll one day you'll be changing the pipes for the sewers.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: Good for you.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: And then that'll be moving up.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, lots more money.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: 9278.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: I thought someone used to pick them up and cremate them all somewhere.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: See, that's what I thought.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: I thought that there was, you know, I joked about the fact there was a period of time where Corning or Elmira would smell like they were having a barbecue, but they were just disposing of the remains from the highway.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: The kill of road.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Uh, they go on to say, I see so many just left on the side of the road now.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: I doubt anything is formally done.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: But no, no, no, eventually they're gone.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Well, the buzzards got to them?
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: I was just gonna say it's not like the buzzards picked them up and got them rid of them.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: 9655.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: We live in the middle of the desert?
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: Well, you got buzzards.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: It depends on where the roadkill is.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Sometimes they pull it to the shoulder, but mostly they're taken to a landfill or dropped in rural areas to decomp.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Ew.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: Make sure you watch your corn.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: What do we say?
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: What do we consider a rural area?
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: I'm Smith Farm on 352.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: Not real.

- 1:57SPEAKER_00: So when I go to drop off a random dryer or couch, there's a D-Rad looking at you.
