A fierce fire erupted early Tuesday morning on the Far West Side of Columbus, engulfing the Cherry Creek Church of Christ—possibly sparked by lightning around midnight. Fire crews arrived just before 4 AM to find flames already raging, with the main chapel completely consumed. Thankfully, no one was injured. Over fifty firefighters battled the blaze, saving the church’s business section from total destruction, though it suffered smoke and water damage. The cause remains under investigation.
