Transcript
- 0:00Tad Eggleston: No problem. No problem.
- 0:03Tad Eggleston: Good evening, everybody. Welcome back to 22 Panels and the Heavy Metal Book Club.
- 0:10Tad Eggleston: I am Tad, I've got Dylan Gilbertson, I've got Peter, I've got Matt, we've got Heavy Metal, December 1979, we're…
- 0:19Tad Eggleston: celebrating Christmas in June, which makes way more sense to me than celebrating Christmas in July, because why would you celebrate Christmas 5 months early, rather than half a year early? But…
- 0:32Tad Eggleston: I think I made that point last month.
- 0:36Peter Eggleston Connor: mine.
- 0:36Tad Eggleston: Anyway… What?
- 0:38Peter Eggleston Connor: I said, I think you might have.
- 0:40Peter Eggleston Connor: Inc.
- 0:41Peter Eggleston Connor: That's sad.
- 0:43Peter Eggleston Connor: you know, I think July's a better month than June.
- 0:48Tad Eggleston: It's hotter.
- 0:52Dillon Gilbertson: Fireworks are in July, I guess. Comic-Con, San Diego Comic-Con's in July.
- 0:56Tad Eggleston: Of course, we're actually celebrating it in May, so, like, we fucked up anyway.
- 1:00Dillon Gilbertson: Oh, crap.
- 1:02Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, this is not…
- 1:03Tad Eggleston: So…
- 1:03Peter Eggleston Connor: Either.
- 1:04Tad Eggleston: Like, screw all that.
- 1:07Peter Eggleston Connor: Where we're trying to, like… Go read something else, and then…
- 1:11Tad Eggleston: Maybe I'll sit on it for a while. Well, we did think about the new metal Erlot.
- 1:17Peter Eggleston Connor: I'll have to read that about later.
- 1:20Tad Eggleston: Zoom.
- 1:22Tad Eggleston: Anyway… Initial thoughts, or should we just start rolling through the, the, the magazine?
- 1:30Peter Eggleston Connor: I liked it, I thought it was good.
- 1:32Matt: Yeah, very, post-apoc… apocalyptic…
- 1:38Matt: not really apocalyptic, but, you know, that future society shit. I dug it, it was a good issue.
- 1:45Peter Eggleston Connor: Future Society, Christmas.
- 1:47Tad Eggleston: I like the, electronic reindeer.
- 1:51Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, the.
- 1:52Peter Eggleston Connor: The cover… the cover with the electronic reindeer is pretty interesting.
- 1:54Tad Eggleston: A rocket reindeer?
- 1:57Dillon Gilbertson: really into the Giants.
- 1:59Dillon Gilbertson: I want to track down the collected book that they advertise at the front.
- 2:04Tad Eggleston: That was pretty cool.
- 2:05Matt: Me too.
- 2:06Peter Eggleston Connor: John's was pretty nice.
- 2:08Dillon Gilbertson: I might, I might ask Jason to take inspiration from one of the giant's pages for the cover of Necromancer 4.
- 2:18Peter Eggleston Connor: There you go.
- 2:21Peter Eggleston Connor: We're kidding.
- 2:22Peter Eggleston Connor: getting preview hints to Necromancer 4.
- 2:25Dillon Gilbertson: Gettin' there. Gonna… might… might think about starting the…
- 2:30Dillon Gilbertson: Starting the pre-launch page in the next month or so, so look out for that.
- 2:38Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, overall, I'd say it was pretty solid.
- 2:41Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah.
- 2:42Peter Eggleston Connor: Heavy metal.
- 2:44Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah.
- 2:45Dillon Gilbertson: I think there was a story where I think they called Native American savages, so I wasn't super into that, but…
- 2:51Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, there… I remember that coming up at some point, that someday was called Savages, and it was, like…
- 2:59Dillon Gilbertson: Hmm, maybe we don't do that.
- 3:02Peter Eggleston Connor: Was that the Pao Pele story?
- 3:04Matt: Yeah, I think it was.
- 3:06Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah…
- 3:10Tad Eggleston: Damn.
- 3:14Peter Eggleston Connor: No, I think the people who called them savages also got… Anyhow, we'll get to that.
- 3:18Dillon Gilbertson: I can't remember how it ended, to be honest.
- 3:20Peter Eggleston Connor: Maybe it was something else, actually.
- 3:22Dillon Gilbertson: We'll get there.
- 3:23Tad Eggleston: Midnight.
- 3:24Dillon Gilbertson: Fair.
- 3:25Tad Eggleston: Feast.
- 3:26Peter Eggleston Connor: Midnight Feast.
- 3:29Dillon Gilbertson: I don't know if I, if there was much of a point to Midnight Feast, but I enjoyed it. Just a nice.
- 3:35Tad Eggleston: I enjoyed it a lot.
- 3:36Dillon Gilbertson: Just a scene in a diner one night.
- 3:39Matt: Yup.
- 3:39Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, it was… it was fairly,
- 3:41Matt: It's New Year's. I feel like it's New Year's Eve.
- 3:43Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, I mean, like, what's kind of interesting about it, though, is, like, most of the time we're seeing heavy metal, and it's fantasy, or it's, sci-fi, and I gotta say, I don't…
- 3:57Peter Eggleston Connor: feel like… I'm not sure how Midnight Feast fits into either of those?
- 4:03Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah.
- 4:03Tad Eggleston: I mean, no jello melts like that, and that plant looks like a skeleton.
- 4:10Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, okay.
- 4:10Dillon Gilbertson: Are you sharing… are you sharing the… sharing the screen?
- 4:13Peter Eggleston Connor: Are you gonna show your.
- 4:14Tad Eggleston: And then there's the pinball.
- 4:16Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, well, I'll be honest, on the first… yeah, the first… I mean, the second panel of that story, when he throws… he throws a streamer…
- 4:24Dillon Gilbertson: And, like, it crosses over the plants that you said does look like a skeleton, and it made it look like it had a backbone, and so I was, like, I had to stare at it for a little bit.
- 4:33Dillon Gilbertson: And think, like, just wonder, like, where these…
- 4:37Dillon Gilbertson: These, like, deer skeletons came from, or something like that.
- 4:42Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, I don't know.
- 4:43Dillon Gilbertson: I mean… Needs are… Agents.
- 4:46Peter Eggleston Connor: semi-valid points, I guess? I mean, the plant does look like it could be a skeleton, it also just looks like a fucking plant, so, you know.
- 4:55Dillon Gilbertson: I was gonna say that they're points, I'm gonna say that they're more observations, but go off.
- 5:02Peter Eggleston Connor: Fair enough, fair enough, fair enough.
- 5:04Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, like, it was just a fun, fun little scene inside of a random diner one night.
- 5:08Peter Eggleston Connor: It's very true. I like it a lot. I don't want to dissuade people from liking it, and I think it's great.
- 5:14Matt: God!
- 5:15Peter Eggleston Connor: Let me… let me just shit on it some more, man.
- 5:19Peter Eggleston Connor: I just,
- 5:20Peter Eggleston Connor: thinking about it, like, and then thinking about, oh, this is heavy metal, and then, like, this one thing, it's like, wow, this… I'm not really sure where this fits into heavy metal.
- 5:31Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, I'm also not sure at all.
- 5:34Peter Eggleston Connor: But it's amusing. I love it. Or it's amusement.
- 5:38Dillon Gilbertson: This comic was also very confusing. Coming out… coming out the kinks.
- 5:42Dillon Gilbertson: Combing out the.
- 5:43Tad Eggleston: Homing.
- 5:44Dillon Gilbertson: Apologies. Like, he… I don't know where his dad stands.
- 5:49Peter Eggleston Connor: His dad is…
- 5:50Tad Eggleston: and a half.
- 5:51Peter Eggleston Connor: Sweet asshole, yeah.
- 5:52Matt: Yeah.
- 5:52Dillon Gilbertson: but his dad's being an asshole, but then he's all… he's like, he's like, suddenly these eggs affect your cortex, the government outlawed them. Oh, I guess he's calling him an asshole, is what he's doing.
- 6:05Tad Eggleston: I feel like he's…
- 6:07Tad Eggleston: The asshole dad is calling the son an asshole in part because he's taking the wrong drugs.
- 6:14Matt: Exactly.
- 6:16Dillon Gilbertson: Okay, alright, guess that helps.
- 6:17Tad Eggleston: It's not… it's not that he's taking drugs, it's that he's taking the wrong drugs.
- 6:23Matt: Yes, and he married a Jew.
- 6:25Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah.
- 6:26Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, that was… that was another one of the, okay, that was kind of a little bit of a line that, you know, maybe…
- 6:34Peter Eggleston Connor: But I am.
- 6:35Matt: Start this issue strong, heavy metal, thank you!
- 6:40Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, I think the fifth panel.
- 6:43Dillon Gilbertson: were you talking about the government outlawing them? I initially read it as he was calling the government assholes for outlawing these drugs, but he doesn't want him to take the drugs, and I think from that point on, I was like, I'm confused about this man. I don't know what to think anymore.
- 6:57Peter Eggleston Connor: I just saw him as being an asshole.
- 7:00Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, he was, he was definitely a vessel.
- 7:02Peter Eggleston Connor: Diving into his son and, you know, completely…
- 7:05Matt: How long is he… 4 years. He hasn't seen him in 4 years! And he's jumping down his shit.
- 7:10Peter Eggleston Connor: Yep.
- 7:12Peter Eggleston Connor: Reminding him that his mother Didn't approve, and blah blah blah.
- 7:17Matt: married a Jew.
- 7:19Peter Eggleston Connor: Cityville, too. I found this one super entertaining, and…
- 7:23Tad Eggleston: This one was both entertaining and way too real.
- 7:28Matt: very.
- 7:29Peter Eggleston Connor: It's a little bit depressing, yeah.
- 7:31Tad Eggleston: Good evening, consumers and consumers.
- 7:36Matt: Consumers is not… Gender-specific, so that's really kind of funny that they did that.
- 7:41Peter Eggleston Connor: It is, it is really funny.
- 7:43Dillon Gilbertson: I wanna say that this guy…
- 7:46Dillon Gilbertson: Not in personality, per se, just in physical appearance. This man, the man here.
- 7:52Peter Eggleston Connor: You know, the president.
- 7:53Matt: protagonist, or the TV guy?
- 7:54Dillon Gilbertson: the guy who's not in the TV. The man in the black shirt.
- 7:58Matt: Gotcha.
- 7:59Dillon Gilbertson: Not in personality, per se, but, like, in physical appearance, looks like a mix of Jim Henson and Tad.
- 8:07Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, there you go.
- 8:08Tad Eggleston: I'll take…
- 8:09Matt: What do you… Woody Allen, no, I'm kidding.
- 8:14Dillon Gilbertson: Just with the.
- 8:14Peter Eggleston Connor: Jim Henson and Tad.
- 8:17Dillon Gilbertson: Just the hair, the beard, and the glasses in general, I think, are very tacky.
- 8:20Matt: Ron? What's going on?
- 8:22Peter Eggleston Connor: Yep.
- 8:23Peter Eggleston Connor: Turns out that there was original Cityville, which was built by rich people, and then Cityville, too, was built by the government.
- 8:31Matt: Yup.
- 8:32Peter Eggleston Connor: Support rich people.
- 8:34Matt: Yep.
- 8:36Tad Eggleston: I particularly like the way they walk him back home.
- 8:41Tad Eggleston: Encourage him to take his shower, and then lock him back in.
- 8:45Matt: And remind him to wear his badge.
- 8:49Tad Eggleston: Oh, we're being so nice to you, let us take you back to prison.
- 8:53Matt: It's very concentration camp feeling. Oh, no, he didn't…
- 8:57Tad Eggleston: Well, I've.
- 8:57Peter Eggleston Connor: No, no, no, no, no, no, no. You didn't read all the text. He never left prison. He just left his cell.
- 9:04Matt: Yeah.
- 9:04Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 9:07Tad Eggleston: No, I know.
- 9:10Peter Eggleston Connor: I know, I'm just being… Pedantic. Anyhow.
- 9:14Tad Eggleston: I know.
- 9:15Matt: I'm gonna shit on this one too, Peter!
- 9:19Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, they essentially took, what was that,
- 9:25Peter Eggleston Connor: World War II internment camps and turned into a comic that almost fucking represents modern day. Yeah.
- 9:32Matt: Yeah, I agree.
- 9:33Peter Eggleston Connor: put on a…
- 9:34Matt: Talking to the dude through the toilet. That's so great.
- 9:37Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, it's actually, like, a really good and solid comic, again, it's just… Really bleak and dark.
- 9:43Tad Eggleston: Way too real.
- 9:45Dillon Gilbertson: happy.
- 9:46Tad Eggleston: No, no, it's not a… it's not a joyful comic.
- 9:50Matt: No. So… No, it's got a Fahrenheit 451 feel to it.
- 9:55Peter Eggleston Connor: Yes.
- 9:57Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 10:00Dillon Gilbertson: After the fall…
- 10:01Tad Eggleston: to the fall, Serge Clerk.
- 10:06Tad Eggleston: I… I don't get why so many of these Russian guys are upset that they're… they're… they're keeping the camera on the room where the woman might get up dressed.
- 10:16Matt: Amuse me, too.
- 10:17Peter Eggleston Connor: Right.
- 10:17Matt: It doesn't matter.
- 10:19Peter Eggleston Connor: Russian guys, I thought they were.
- 10:20Matt: However.
- 10:21Dillon Gilbertson: It says CCCP.
- 10:22Peter Eggleston Connor: They're Americans, and they're fighting the Russians, right?
- 10:25Tad Eggleston: Oh, okay.
- 10:27Matt: I'll see the same channel.
- 10:29Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, they keep seeing the woman.
- 10:32Matt: Yeah.
- 10:33Peter Eggleston Connor: And they're all angry, well, some of them are angry about it for some reason, and then they go off and take, take the, take the, camp.
- 10:41Peter Eggleston Connor: And then I gathered that the Russians blew up everything.
- 10:45Matt: Yes.
- 10:45Tad Eggleston: Well, because that's… of course… I mean, I feel like that is the theme of this issue.
- 10:53Tad Eggleston: And then everybody dies.
- 10:56Peter Eggleston Connor: Well, it seemed to me like the Russians actually got out, and then they used it as a trap to kill them. That's what it sounded like.
- 11:03Peter Eggleston Connor: Cool. I totally got it. Thank you, Matt.
- 11:05Matt: My fault.
- 11:06Matt: They were like, oh, let's feign, retreat, and let them take over, and then we'll blow them up.
- 11:11Matt: Yep.
- 11:12Peter Eggleston Connor: It was great.
- 11:13Matt: Yeah.
- 11:15Peter Eggleston Connor: And by great, I also mean fucking terrible, but…
- 11:18Peter Eggleston Connor: It was great to read. It was a lot of fun.
- 11:21Matt: Yup.
- 11:22Peter Eggleston Connor: to read.
- 11:26Tad Eggleston: I do, I do like the, the, the cry…
- 11:33Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, yeah.
- 11:34Peter Eggleston Connor: That's a very nice explosive sound.
- 11:37Tad Eggleston: I don't know if that's what I imagined that a big explosion would sound like, but I like it.
- 11:42Dillon Gilbertson: cry.
- 11:43Matt: Honestly, I feel like that should be bigger.
- 11:46Matt: There's so much negative space there.
- 11:49Matt: They could have been so much more impactful.
- 11:51Tad Eggleston: Well, except that I can't 100% tell if this is, like, an explosion explosion, or if there's some level of implosion going on with the explosion.
- 12:01Peter Eggleston Connor: Good question.
- 12:04Peter Eggleston Connor: I just, like, because it's not a boom, it's, like, kind of an interesting… like, and I didn't even notice this, so thank you for bringing it up. Like, it's kind of an interesting, like, sound to try and, like.
- 12:16Peter Eggleston Connor: Imagine of, like, what the hell… what the hell is actually, like.
- 12:21Dillon Gilbertson: I…
- 12:22Peter Eggleston Connor: of this…
- 12:23Dillon Gilbertson: I actually kind of like it. To me, it feels… because there's so much negative space, so it feels like we're at a great… it's a very large explosion from a very great distance.
- 12:35Dillon Gilbertson: And I can kind of imagine… a sound… That's supposed to be big.
- 12:43Dillon Gilbertson: I don't know, for some reason, craw… I think if there was a K in, like, it was a K dash CRAW, like a k-craw.
- 12:50Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 12:53Dillon Gilbertson: I don't know.
- 12:53Peter Eggleston Connor: I just imagine metal twisting.
- 12:57Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't know why, like, that would go, yeah, go with a… go with an explosion, but…
- 13:04Dillon Gilbertson: Crawl almost sounds like more of a monster yell of some kind, I guess.
- 13:08Peter Eggleston Connor: Could be.
- 13:09Dillon Gilbertson: Hmm.
- 13:10Tad Eggleston: Well, that's the metal twisting and becoming a monster.
- 13:16Peter Eggleston Connor: Metal twisting and becoming a boom.
- 13:18Matt: The heavy metal twisting.
- 13:20Tad Eggleston: And here… here's your Giants.
- 13:22Dillon Gilbertson: Giants! Yes.
- 13:24Peter Eggleston Connor: Fuck yeah, look at that giant.
- 13:26Dillon Gilbertson: I don't know if this was just a me thing, or… I mean, clearly not, but, like, or if this was just very, very common that everybody kind of did, but when I was a kid, I actually imagined, like, the hills around my town were, like, the bodies of giants.
- 13:40Tad Eggleston: You're… you're just… you're weird.
- 13:43Dillon Gilbertson: Is that not…
- 13:44Tad Eggleston: Maybe a little fucked up.
- 13:47Dillon Gilbertson: Did everybody do that, though? Was that a… is that a normal thing? I feel like it is, maybe.
- 13:52Matt: Normal-ish?
- 13:53Peter Eggleston Connor: No, that's what's sick.
- 13:55Dillon Gilbertson: But, like, so from page 1 on Giants, I was like, I'm sold.
- 13:59Dillon Gilbertson: This book's for me, I love it.
- 14:02Peter Eggleston Connor: you're prob- I mean, you're definitely not alone in it.
- 14:06Dillon Gilbertson: I don't know.
- 14:06Peter Eggleston Connor: if, like, I said, would think like that. I definitely stared off in the distance and had, like, weird ideas about what might be out there.
- 14:17Dillon Gilbertson: I also love, any… any story or writing that attempts to give, like, scientific explanations to the way of an imaginary creature's body is.
- 14:31Dillon Gilbertson: Like, in the next page, it talks about, like, the fact that their hands hang just by their knees.
- 14:38Dillon Gilbertson: And the evolutionary reason for that is so that they can feel the things that are below their large bellies that they can't see. So they can't see down by their feet, so their hands have to drag that low for them to feel what's down there. And I was like, oh, that's interesting.
- 14:54Dillon Gilbertson: I thought it was… thought it was fun. I like John.
- 14:56Peter Eggleston Connor: Yep.
- 14:58Peter Eggleston Connor: I also talk about why they made the clothing the way they did.
- 15:02Matt: Yup, yup.
- 15:05Peter Eggleston Connor: Then they, like, just throw in a Frost Giant and don't give any description.
- 15:09Dillon Gilbertson: I know you.
- 15:09Peter Eggleston Connor: Whatever off.
- 15:10Dillon Gilbertson: Feel like… feel like they were rushed and couldn't write anything. Oh, fuck it, Frost Giant.
- 15:15Peter Eggleston Connor: And then they're like, a giant pastime is exactly what we know giants for.
- 15:20Dillon Gilbertson: Wait, Frost Giant is the cover that I want.
- 15:23Peter Eggleston Connor: No.
- 15:24Dillon Gilbertson: It looks really cool. There's no writing. I guess there doesn't have to be, I guess, but…
- 15:29Tad Eggleston: Everybody knows what a frost giant is.
- 15:32Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, I mean, yeah.
- 15:33Matt: Loki!
- 15:34Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, clearly.
- 15:38Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, there was an…
- 15:39Peter Eggleston Connor: Spoilers!
- 15:40Dillon Gilbertson: I think we… I think we glossed right over it, but at the beginning of this issue, there was an ad for, like, I think a collected edition of.
- 15:46Tad Eggleston: Yes, there was. We didn't gloss over it, you said you wanted one.
- 15:50Dillon Gilbertson: I know I did, but, like, we didn't… we didn't pause, because I… I… I wanna… I don't know who, who illustrated that again?
- 15:57Dillon Gilbertson: It says right there in the.
- 15:58Tad Eggleston: Three illustrators, Julek Keller, Carolyn Scrace, and Juan Wingard.
- 16:06Peter Eggleston Connor: Guard. Wiggin' guard.
- 16:10Peter Eggleston Connor: You probably said it right, and I just…
- 16:12Peter Eggleston Connor: you know, needed to emphasize the J.
- 16:17Matt: The J& Giants?
- 16:19Peter Eggleston Connor: No, the J in Pigeon Guard.
- 16:22Peter Eggleston Connor: Wingard.
- 16:23Tad Eggleston: Wait a minute, are you ordering one for yourself?
- 16:26Matt: Yeah, actually, I am.
- 16:27Dillon Gilbertson: Oh, it's on Amazon, there it is.
- 16:29Tad Eggleston: Well, I was just about to order one for Dylan, so if he's ordering one for himself, I'll stop.
- 16:36Matt: No, I'm ordering it for the…
- 16:37Tad Eggleston: I feel like somebody wished him a happy birthday recently, so I was gonna send him one.
- 16:42Dillon Gilbertson: Oh, thanks!
- 16:44Dillon Gilbertson: Aww. I will… I mean, I'll gladly accept that. I would…
- 16:48Tad Eggleston: Okay, then stop ordering, and now I can… you're in Bellingham, right?
- 16:56Dillon Gilbertson: Yep.
- 16:57Tad Eggleston: because that's the only reason it hadn't been ordered already, is that… that I remembered that you moved, and I wanted to.
- 17:04Dillon Gilbertson: Thanks, sir, man.
- 17:05Tad Eggleston: Add the right address.
- 17:06Peter Eggleston Connor: I am so glad we said that on air.
- 17:09Dillon Gilbertson: That's right.
- 17:11Tad Eggleston: All I said was the town. I didn't even say the state.
- 17:15Tad Eggleston: And he's not in the more famous Bellingham.
- 17:19Tad Eggleston: And that one?
- 17:20Dillon Gilbertson: Let's narrow it down a little bit more. Docs me, I'll fight everybody.
- 17:24Matt: Can't read.
- 17:25Peter Eggleston Connor: Right.
- 17:25Matt: Amazon?
- 17:29Dillon Gilbertson: Say what?
- 17:30Matt: Tad, where are you ordering from, Amazon?
- 17:32Tad Eggleston: I'm ordering from Amazon, yeah.
- 17:35Dillon Gilbertson: Thank you, guys. I'm so excited for this. I'm legitimately excited for this book.
- 17:41Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh my god. Anyhow…
- 17:43Dillon Gilbertson: Cannot wait for it.
- 17:45Peter Eggleston Connor: No, that'll be awesome. When you get it, you need to send us, I don't know, a few pictures of your favorites.
- 17:50Dillon Gilbertson: I absolutely will.
- 17:54Tad Eggleston: Now, should I… should I read out your address, and then…
- 17:58Dillon Gilbertson: You can.
- 17:58Tad Eggleston: Provide the social security number.
- 18:00Dillon Gilbertson: I mean, I'm not gonna give you my social, I'll do… I'll say the social security number, I'm not gonna give it to you, that's not secure at all.
- 18:10Dillon Gilbertson: Oh, man.
- 18:11Tad Eggleston: No, I just meant we'd put it all out over the air.
- 18:14Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah. What.
- 18:15Peter Eggleston Connor: While you're at it, could you tell me your, tell me your credit card number and, three-digit passcode?
- 18:22Tad Eggleston: maiden name. Let's just get it all out there at once.
- 18:27Dillon Gilbertson: No more secrets, guys.
- 18:29Peter Eggleston Connor: No, no, your mother's maiden name, obviously, but you also need to tell me what your preferred, question is, and what the answer to that question is.
- 18:40Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah.
- 18:41Matt: Where did you go to elementary school?
- 18:42Tad Eggleston: What's your first pet's name?
- 18:44Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, you're… the name of your element, your first grade teacher.
- 18:49Dillon Gilbertson: Do we want to take wagers on whether or not they added text to the Frost Giant, or do you think they just left it blank in the complete edition?
- 18:58Peter Eggleston Connor: If they use the same stuff, my guess is they left it blank, but… Who knows?
- 19:05Dillon Gilbertson: I'm kind of.
- 19:06Tad Eggleston: What I'm actually most curious about
- 19:08Tad Eggleston: Whether it's actually like this in the complete edition or not, or whether they took Parts of pages.
- 19:15Dillon Gilbertson: Mmm…
- 19:16Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, yeah, that could be interesting.
- 19:18Dillon Gilbertson: Well, yeah, that's true.
- 19:20Tad Eggleston: I mean, this… this could be, like, the… the…
- 19:24Tad Eggleston: This could very much be, like, the… the Reader's Digest condensed version.
- 19:31Matt: That's true. There we could be.
- 19:32Tad Eggleston: that each of these pictures is a whole page in the book, and then you get, like, a whole page of writing.
- 19:38Peter Eggleston Connor: Right.
- 19:40Peter Eggleston Connor: Right, right, right, right, right. But yeah, that Frost Giant is, wicked cool, so… I will look forward.
- 19:47Dillon Gilbertson: Cheers.
- 19:48Peter Eggleston Connor: What happens with your, next.
- 19:52Peter Eggleston Connor: Cover.
- 19:52Dillon Gilbertson: I will update what's received.
- 19:54Tad Eggleston: It says, it says estimated delivery is… is in…
- 19:58Tad Eggleston: A little more than a week.
- 20:00Dillon Gilbertson: Okay, noted.
- 20:02Peter Eggleston Connor: One year and one week. Got it.
- 20:03Dillon Gilbertson: I will still hopefully still be living here.
- 20:06Matt: I was gonna say, at least you don't have to drive back to your old apartment.
- 20:09Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, yeah. It was worth it, though.
- 20:12Tad Eggleston: Yeah, sorry I'm not sending an original baby bear… er, bear-arm baby.
- 20:18Tad Eggleston: not that cool.
- 20:22Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean…
- 20:23Dillon Gilbertson: I had somebody come…
- 20:24Peter Eggleston Connor: Pretty cool.
- 20:26Tad Eggleston: Happy birthday!
- 20:27Dillon Gilbertson: Thank you very much.
- 20:28Peter Eggleston Connor: Happy birthday, Mr. Gilbertson.
- 20:30Dillon Gilbertson: Thank you very much.
- 20:32Tad Eggleston: And just in case I don't get this up immediately, and because she's behind on listening now that she doesn't have to drive to work, we'll say happy birthday to Mom right now, cause, like…
- 20:44Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, yep, that's common.
- 20:45Tad Eggleston: It's only a couple days.
- 20:46Peter Eggleston Connor: There's a wag.
- 20:49Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, and Happy Mother's Day to everybody, since that was yesterday.
- 20:53Tad Eggleston: Yeah, Matt, happy Mother's Day.
- 20:55Matt: And Happy Mother's Day to you too, buddy!
- 21:00Peter Eggleston Connor: Let me rephrase that. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms, I was saying.
- 21:06Tad Eggleston: Matt.
- 21:06Peter Eggleston Connor: And Matt.
- 21:09Peter Eggleston Connor: And Tad.
- 21:13Dillon Gilbertson: Oh, complete, complete, tangent, side note, Adam Mashinsky says hi, Peter.
- 21:18Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, well, hello, Mr. Mishinchi.
- 21:21Dillon Gilbertson: He also says Happy Mother's Day. He also says Happy Mother's Day, I'm sure.
- 21:25Peter Eggleston Connor: Alright, so…
- 21:26Matt: Nice.
- 21:28Tad Eggleston: As we get to Harlan Ellison, and, like, most of the time, I would read Harlan Ellison, but this time I didn't. Did anybody read Harlan Ellison?
- 21:39Dillon Gilbertson: Unfortunately. Nope.
- 21:41Peter Eggleston Connor: I didn't read any of the pros this time.
- 21:44Matt: No picture, though, of Santa Claus holding the flamethrower.
- 21:48Dillon Gilbertson: Yep.
- 21:49Tad Eggleston: Again, Wilson?
- 21:51Matt: Yeah.
- 21:51Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 21:52Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, that was an interesting picture. I spent a lot of time on that one for some reason, but it was pretty good.
- 21:59Tad Eggleston: And like I said, under normal circumstances, I totally would have read Harlan Ellison, but… I was in a hurry.
- 22:06Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, I was just.
- 22:07Matt: And you knew we'd only have an hour for this episode.
- 22:09Dillon Gilbertson: Right, right, yeah.
- 22:11Tad Eggleston: So, work and win.
- 22:16Peter Eggleston Connor: Another one that'll hit a little bit too close to home…
- 22:22Peter Eggleston Connor: Don't get me wrong, it is amazing, like, what the… actually, I don't even remember the image. I do remember this robot in the lower corner and being like, oh, that's cool, but…
- 22:32Tad Eggleston: I don't remember.
- 22:33Peter Eggleston Connor: I remember the imagery so much, as I remember how…
- 22:36Dillon Gilbertson: At the top of this episode, Peter was like, yeah, it was a pretty solid episode that every story's like, I hated this.
- 22:42Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't know, Yeah, I've just given shit to everything, so…
- 22:47Tad Eggleston: I'm just gonna… I'm just gonna toss this out here.
- 22:51Tad Eggleston: It's almost like… People saw what Reagan was doing.
- 22:56Dillon Gilbertson: Yep.
- 22:57Tad Eggleston: in 1979…
- 22:59Matt: Yep.
- 23:00Peter Eggleston Connor: And…
- 23:01Tad Eggleston: And, like, maybe we could have taken… we could have made different decisions over the last 47 years.
- 23:10Peter Eggleston Connor: Yes, I ain'.
- 23:13Tad Eggleston: That's what this episode, or this issue feels like. It's like, oh, wait a minute, you mean… you mean…
- 23:20Tad Eggleston: Some of this shit wasn't surprising?
- 23:26Tad Eggleston: Or was it only… you know, you know…
- 23:30Tad Eggleston: That the way they pulled it off is they said, oh, those are just drugged-out hippie ramblings.
- 23:36Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah.
- 23:36Peter Eggleston Connor: Yo.
- 23:37Matt: It just… it…
- 23:39Matt: Ugh, it reminds me of that line in Spaceballs where Dark Helmet's like, evil always wins because good is done.
- 23:45Tad Eggleston: Don't.
- 23:47Matt: And it's like, fuck!
- 23:49Peter Eggleston Connor: Right.
- 23:50Peter Eggleston Connor: Spaceballs 2 coming? It is!
- 23:52Dillon Gilbertson: Yep.
- 23:53Peter Eggleston Connor: Evil one.
- 23:54Tad Eggleston: will always win, because…
- 23:56Peter Eggleston Connor: Thank you so much.
- 23:57Tad Eggleston: is dumb.
- 23:58Matt: Hmm, you know?
- 24:00Peter Eggleston Connor: I should rewatch that soon.
- 24:01Dillon Gilbertson: It's so good.
- 24:02Peter Eggleston Connor: Anyhow… So good.
- 24:05Tad Eggleston: It is, it is. I'm a big spaceballs fan.
- 24:09Tad Eggleston: Roll up!
- 24:10Matt: I've seen Space Balls more times than I've seen Star Wars.
- 24:14Tad Eggleston: I mean, I haven't counted, but it's probably…
- 24:17Matt: I'll say closer than what.
- 24:18Tad Eggleston: would imagine.
- 24:19Matt: I just know…
- 24:20Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, I mean…
- 24:21Tad Eggleston: I don't know, because I've watched Star Wars in all.
- 24:24Peter Eggleston Connor: I was gonna say, I'm… I would be heavily surprised if you'd seen Spaceballs more times than you'd seen Star Wars. But that's me.
- 24:36Tad Eggleston: I think it depends on if we're counting any individual Star Wars movie.
- 24:42Tad Eggleston: Like, I bet you I've seen Star Wars more than… er, Spaceball…
- 24:46Matt: All the views of all the movies, I've seen Star Wars more than Spaceballs.
- 24:52Tad Eggleston: I've definitely seen Spaceballs more than Episode 3.
- 24:57Peter Eggleston Connor: Sure.
- 24:58Matt: Where are my notes on?
- 24:59Tad Eggleston: 4789.
- 25:00Peter Eggleston Connor: Here would be my argument.
- 25:03Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't think you've seen Spaceballs as many times as you've seen the complete run of episodes 4, 5, 6.
- 25:11Tad Eggleston: Probably not, but it's probably actually close on Empire.
- 25:15Matt: Yep.
- 25:17Peter Eggleston Connor: No, fair enough.
- 25:19Tad Eggleston: Because Empire's the one that I'm most likely to skip, even though it's the best. Because it's a downer.
- 25:25Matt: Yup.
- 25:26Peter Eggleston Connor: Sure.
- 25:27Matt: Wow, everyone.
- 25:29Tad Eggleston: guarantee that I've seen Return of the.
- 25:30Dillon Gilbertson: Jedi.
- 25:31Tad Eggleston: More times than baseballs.
- 25:32Dillon Gilbertson: Hey, that's Peter's logic for this whole issue, is that it's the best, but it's just a downside.
- 25:39Tad Eggleston: It's entirely possible that I've seen…
- 25:40Dillon Gilbertson: The whole thing.
- 25:41Tad Eggleston: the Jedi more times than you.
- 25:43Peter Eggleston Connor: Me too.
- 25:44Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah.
- 25:44Peter Eggleston Connor: It's the best issue, it's just a real downer.
- 25:46Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yep.
- 25:48Peter Eggleston Connor: Sadly, like, that's all true of a lot of things that I kinda like.
- 25:53Matt: I don't shit on Christmas, dude, what the fuck?
- 25:56Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, I'm sorry, have we hit a Christmas one yet?
- 25:59Matt: This is just…
- 25:59Tad Eggleston: Not yet, well…
- 26:01Dillon Gilbertson: The Santa one that we just passed over and didn't read.
- 26:03Matt: Beautiful!
- 26:04Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 26:05Peter Eggleston Connor: The Santa one no one read?
- 26:07Matt: Milk!
- 26:08Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, I really shot on that one.
- 26:13Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, yeah, that…
- 26:14Tad Eggleston: It wasn't Christmas…
- 26:15Dillon Gilbertson: None of them.
- 26:16Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't know if that.
- 26:16Tad Eggleston: This one could have been Christmas.
- 26:18Peter Eggleston Connor: No…
- 26:20Tad Eggleston: It would have made it even worse.
- 26:22Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, it's not even Die Hard, like…
- 26:26Dillon Gilbertson: -
- 26:26Peter Eggleston Connor: Midnight Feast feels less like Christmas than it does New Year's.
- 26:31Matt: Yeah.
- 26:32Matt: True.
- 26:32Tad Eggleston: Yeah, no, I think you're right. I don't think we've gotten to our… to our, christmas yet.
- 26:40Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, there's, like, one fairly clearly Christmas one, if I remember correctly, other than the Santa Claus thing that I didn't read.
- 26:47Tad Eggleston: No, there are at least two.
- 26:49Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, okay. I forgot one then, maybe, even though I read it yesterday. Rolf!
- 26:54Dillon Gilbertson: Bro!
- 26:54Tad Eggleston: We're all.
- 26:55Peter Eggleston Connor: I have nothing negative to say about Rolf.
- 26:57Matt: I think it was amazing.
- 26:59Matt: Right.
- 26:59Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, I think it might be my… I might be with you on that one, Matt, but it feels a little bit like an Indiana Jones scene, and that's fucking amazing.
- 27:10Matt: Good stuff!
- 27:11Matt: Yep.
- 27:13Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't know why we're going backwards.
- 27:14Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, where are we going?
- 27:15Tad Eggleston: Because I needed to remember something.
- 27:20Peter Eggleston Connor: As you did.
- 27:21Tad Eggleston: The problem with you guys not bringing your own?
- 27:23Tad Eggleston: You rely on me.
- 27:24Peter Eggleston Connor: And then if I.
- 27:25Tad Eggleston: I want to look at something, I'm gonna flip.
- 27:27Matt: I've got my own up, so… Flip all you want, Ted.
- 27:34Peter Eggleston Connor: You're fine. I'm just giving you shit.
- 27:38Peter Eggleston Connor: No, but it definitely reminds me of, like, the tank scene in.
- 27:41Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah. Yeah.
- 27:46Peter Eggleston Connor: The Holy Grail.
- 27:47Matt: Yeah, that's crusade.
- 27:48Peter Eggleston Connor: Alaskers.
- 27:49Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah.
- 27:51Peter Eggleston Connor: That one.
- 27:52Tad Eggleston: Last Crusade, Holy Grail, same.
- 27:54Matt: The one with Sean Connery in River Phoenix.
- 27:58Dillon Gilbertson: No, well, the tank… well, I guess there's… that's fair. I guess… I guess in Raiders, I guess they were on foot carrying the Ark around.
- 28:06Peter Eggleston Connor: Yep.
- 28:07Dillon Gilbertson: That's funny.
- 28:08Peter Eggleston Connor: I think they had a few tanks, but… The tank scene, like.
- 28:12Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, yeah.
- 28:13Peter Eggleston Connor: The Crazy Tank thing was, definitely.
- 28:14Tad Eggleston: Chase is different.
- 28:15Dillon Gilbertson: Pretty… yeah, it's pretty good.
- 28:18Peter Eggleston Connor: Yep.
- 28:21Peter Eggleston Connor: But…
- 28:23Dillon Gilbertson: Carry on, Rolf.
- 28:25Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, this was a fairly action-packed issue of Ralph, where he,
- 28:30Peter Eggleston Connor: Can't catch up with soldiers, and then…
- 28:34Peter Eggleston Connor: Then steals the demon army's tank and runs away with it.
- 28:39Peter Eggleston Connor: After blowing up every other tank that they have.
- 28:43Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, and I love… I love the end where he,
- 28:48Peter Eggleston Connor: He's with his tank, and he's got all these,
- 28:53Peter Eggleston Connor: That guy is strung up to make it look like they're still in the tank.
- 29:06Dillon Gilbertson: Oh, yeah, alright, alright.
- 29:08Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah.
- 29:09Peter Eggleston Connor: Last four panels.
- 29:10Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah.
- 29:11Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 29:11Dillon Gilbertson: Had a boy, Ralph.
- 29:13Peter Eggleston Connor: Yep. Rolf in that uniform is also pretty wicked cool, too.
- 29:17Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, agreed.
- 29:23Peter Eggleston Connor: On the side of the highway, it was a lot of fun as well.
- 29:30Dillon Gilbertson: On the side of the highway.
- 29:32Peter Eggleston Connor: Kinda just, like, escaping… you know… the city, and…
- 29:38Dillon Gilbertson: Go on.
- 29:39Peter Eggleston Connor: free…
- 29:41Dillon Gilbertson: She goes off and has her own little… little mini… mini freedom spirit journey.
- 29:47Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, can I…
- 29:48Tad Eggleston: Can I toss out really quick that I want to read 1941 by Steve Bissett and Rick Feich.
- 29:56Dillon Gilbertson: Yep.
- 29:56Peter Eggleston Connor: Toss it out, sure, yeah.
- 29:57Dillon Gilbertson: You can certainly toss that out.
- 30:00Tad Eggleston: I mean.
- 30:00Peter Eggleston Connor: I do.
- 30:01Dillon Gilbertson: Horace comic version of the Columbia Pictures Universal Studios blockbuster film. Alright.
- 30:06Peter Eggleston Connor: Hmm.
- 30:07Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah.
- 30:08Tad Eggleston: But, like, the, the, the classic… Swamp Thing Team?
- 30:15Tad Eggleston: Doing Belushi?
- 30:17Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah.
- 30:21Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, there you go.
- 30:24Tad Eggleston: I mean, that just seems cool.
- 30:29Tad Eggleston: I like that we got another language for our Galactic geographic, that was also kind of cool.
- 30:36Dillon Gilbertson: I think I missed.
- 30:37Tad Eggleston: the Neuron Edition.
- 30:39Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah.
- 30:45Tad Eggleston: And a spaceship that looks kind of like a book.
- 30:49Peter Eggleston Connor: It also looks kind of like a projector.
- 30:52Dillon Gilbertson: It also just seems like a poor design for a spaceship, but…
- 30:57Tad Eggleston: Well, but… I mean, here's the thing that I've always, like…
- 31:04Tad Eggleston: Space is a vacuum, so is there such thing as poor design?
- 31:08Matt: for a spaceship.
- 31:09Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, so, yeah, I think about that all the time with, like, the Starship Enterprise and with the Millennium Falcon and stuff like that. That stuff doesn't make sense much on, like, an Earth perspective, but in space, they work fine. But still, their thrusters are, like, on equal sides. Like, I don't know how, like, an axis works in space. Like, this just looks like it's gonna spin in a circle, but, like, I don't know if that would even make sense in
- 31:34Dillon Gilbertson: space. I have no idea.
- 31:37Matt: Maybe that.
- 31:38Tad Eggleston: I'd have to talk to my space people.
- 31:40Dillon Gilbertson: Well, you contact your space people, and then we'll come back and we'll edit this episode.
- 31:46Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, it's.
- 31:46Tad Eggleston: Well, I mean, last… I just texted her during the episode, so…
- 31:51Dillon Gilbertson: Oh, there you go. Just say it. Just take a picture of this senator and be like, does this make sense in space?
- 31:58Matt: with email.
- 32:01Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, because, like, it being a block, like, you don't have to worry about wind resistance and stuff, but…
- 32:06Tad Eggleston: Alright.
- 32:09Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, I don't know.
- 32:10Dillon Gilbertson: I have no idea if that would work in space.
- 32:13Tad Eggleston: This is the one that I didn't like, and I think I could have liked it, but, like, the…
- 32:19Matt: Agreed.
- 32:21Matt: The artwork ruined it for me.
- 32:23Dillon Gilbertson: Did the board.
- 32:24Tad Eggleston: Well, I…
- 32:24Dillon Gilbertson: morphing into sex art? Is that what was happening?
- 32:28Matt: I don't know, but that looks like a butt plug there on that other page.
- 32:30Dillon Gilbertson: Everything looks, like, phallic or young.
- 32:32Matt: anger.
- 32:33Dillon Gilbertson: Everything looks.
- 32:34Tad Eggleston: Well,
- 32:34Dillon Gilbertson: In some ways.
- 32:35Tad Eggleston: And for me, it was like…
- 32:40Tad Eggleston: The colors were just a little…
- 32:44Tad Eggleston: Too harsh, and not enough contrast to the backgrounds.
- 32:52Tad Eggleston: Yeah. Like, like… Just… yeah, it's just…
- 33:02Tad Eggleston: I feel like it's, it's, it's… a… a minor…
- 33:07Tad Eggleston: Color alteration away from me liking it.
- 33:12Dillon Gilbertson: Okay.
- 33:12Peter Eggleston Connor: But it's…
- 33:13Tad Eggleston: It's too shiny metallic.
- 33:16Peter Eggleston Connor: In contrast, I found this, fairly entertaining. Oh, sorry, go ahead, Matt.
- 33:20Matt: I would say complete recolor, but whatever.
- 33:24Tad Eggleston: You would say what?
- 33:26Matt: Complete recolor.
- 33:27Dillon Gilbertson: I can see that.
- 33:29Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean… I think you.
- 33:31Tad Eggleston: You'd have to do a complete recolor, but I think you could do most of the shades, just do a little bit more of a matte.
- 33:41Tad Eggleston: To make it work.
- 33:44Peter Eggleston Connor: Is it mainly, like, the borders? I mean, that feels like… The borders certainly…
- 33:48Tad Eggleston: They don't help.
- 33:49Dillon Gilbertson: The borders look like a Van Halen album cover.
- 33:53Matt: Yup.
- 33:55Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean…
- 33:55Tad Eggleston: The thing looks like a Van Halen album cover.
- 33:57Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, maybe what's the point, but…
- 34:00Matt: when I was in school.
- 34:01Peter Eggleston Connor: That was what I was kind of curious about, if it was, like… I mean, like, honestly, like, the thing that I had more trouble with was, like, some of the text is harder to read, like, and it's not… not even all of it. It's like, some of the text is fine, and then some of it is just, like, blurring.
- 34:14Dillon Gilbertson: That's a problem with the scan, probably, right?
- 34:16Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, I imagine that's more of a scan than the picture themselves, but…
- 34:20Matt: Could be.
- 34:21Tad Eggleston: But, but, but that's, that's definitely how I felt, was like.
- 34:28Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, I mean…
- 34:29Tad Eggleston: close. I mean, there's little things. I love this saxophonist against the moon, except that, like…
- 34:35Dillon Gilbertson: Hmm.
- 34:36Tad Eggleston: All of the gold all over is pulling you away from him.
- 34:40Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah.
- 34:41Dillon Gilbertson: go to the latest.
- 34:42Peter Eggleston Connor: I agree.
- 34:44Matt: I mean, like…
- 34:45Peter Eggleston Connor: I…
- 34:46Peter Eggleston Connor: I like a lot of what they're doing, and I think, like, even sort of what they're doing with the gold.
- 34:54Peter Eggleston Connor: Like, the shapes that they're creating with the gold, and sort of, like, the… the…
- 34:59Peter Eggleston Connor: The, oh, hey, this is, like, kind of shiny is kind of fun, but the fact that, like, you know, it's so shiny that it's drawing you away from
- 35:07Peter Eggleston Connor: The other things does make it a little bit harder to, like, see, like, some of the more interesting imagery that they're… they're doing.
- 35:17Peter Eggleston Connor: So I'd almost say, like… go ahead.
- 35:21Tad Eggleston: I was just gonna say, I also think that, like, this is exactly what they wanted it to be. And for some people, this is perfect.
- 35:29Dillon Gilbertson: Yep.
- 35:31Tad Eggleston: You know.
- 35:31Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, I mean, like, it's still really…
- 35:33Tad Eggleston: All of the things I'm complaining about were a deliberate choice.
- 35:38Tad Eggleston: And, and, and, like… It just doesn't work for me.
- 35:43Peter Eggleston Connor: Sure.
- 35:44Peter Eggleston Connor: I get that, too.
- 35:45Matt: I'm in your camp, Tad, so I get it.
- 35:50Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm not, yeah.
- 35:52Tad Eggleston: And that's one of the reasons it's hard for me to critique it too much, because, like… I do…
- 35:59Peter Eggleston Connor: None.
- 35:59Tad Eggleston: I think that it's, like.
- 36:00Tad Eggleston: a missed opportunity, I don't think it's sloppiness, I don't think it's badly rendered, I don't… you know… Again, I have a feeling that this looks exactly like it was intended to, and the people who like it love it.
- 36:17Peter Eggleston Connor: Also, did they sneak the tire man in here? Oh, a couple times?
- 36:22Peter Eggleston Connor: If you look at that page.
- 36:24Matt: Oh, it is!
- 36:25Peter Eggleston Connor: a couple pages, he's on a roof, too. One more.
- 36:29Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, that's referred.
- 36:30Matt: I did not notice that. Damn.
- 36:32Peter Eggleston Connor: I like the guy on the upper left, as well, with the exclamation point, especially the big red exclamation point. Oh, apparently they were doing exclamation points in the one before it, too.
- 36:43Dillon Gilbertson: All sorts of exclamation points going on.
- 36:45Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah.
- 36:45Matt: Those exclamation points are phallic.
- 36:48Dillon Gilbertson: That's true.
- 36:51Peter Eggleston Connor: Right.
- 36:51Dillon Gilbertson: That is true.
- 36:54Peter Eggleston Connor: That's absolutely true.
- 37:03Tad Eggleston: Chainmail. This one I liked a lot.
- 37:06Matt: Really?
- 37:07Tad Eggleston: I did. But I like folk art.
- 37:11Matt: Yeah, sometime.
- 37:12Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, I did pretty well.
- 37:14Tad Eggleston: It didn't… it, like…
- 37:18Tad Eggleston: And I like Trina Robbins. I didn't even realize it was Trina Robbins until right now. I mean, I knew Trina had one in this, but it hadn't connected that it was this one.
- 37:30Tad Eggleston: I… I also think that, like.
- 37:36Tad Eggleston: Given our other problematic things, it's great that we have this… This, this, like…
- 37:47Peter Eggleston Connor: problematic, or Christian's having a problem with, Pele.
- 37:51Matt: Everything?
- 37:52Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 37:53Peter Eggleston Connor: And then, you know, they're like, they keep getting messages from people being like, hey.
- 37:59Peter Eggleston Connor: Like, this is not gonna work.
- 38:01Tad Eggleston: That idea.
- 38:01Peter Eggleston Connor: fire.
- 38:02Tad Eggleston: Hey, this is a bad idea. Oh, oh, but I… I have the new god, I'm fine. Okay.
- 38:10Matt: Have fun with that!
- 38:12Tad Eggleston: Lava's still lava, but alright.
- 38:15Matt: Yup.
- 38:16Tad Eggleston: My own real knock on it was this text here, but I also think that that was kind of on purpose.
- 38:26Matt: Hmm?
- 38:27Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, maybe?
- 38:30Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't know if it was on purpose or not.
- 38:33Peter Eggleston Connor: I couldn't…
- 38:34Tad Eggleston: I can't tell for certain.
- 38:35Peter Eggleston Connor: particularly hard to read, and I'm not sure I like that.
- 38:39Tad Eggleston: But that, yeah, it being hard to read was what I didn't like about it.
- 38:46Tad Eggleston: But I don't know that that was an accident, because it kind of, like, when you do read it, it kind of feels like it's supposed to be, like, a background chant.
- 38:55Peter Eggleston Connor: I guess, but I'd still rather…
- 38:58Peter Eggleston Connor: Be able to read it, or…
- 39:00Tad Eggleston: And that I get, but like with the last story, I think it was a conscious choice.
- 39:07Tad Eggleston: Okay. And one that I kinda dig, but I.
- 39:10Peter Eggleston Connor: Completely kidding.
- 39:10Tad Eggleston: people not.
- 39:12Peter Eggleston Connor: I would… I would go the other way and say it's… it's one I don't dig at all. Like, even if it's a conscious choice, it was a bad conscious choice. That… that… that would be my opinion.
- 39:22Matt: Well, poor design. Legibility, readability, it's all important.
- 39:26Tad Eggleston: Also, as compared to the last one, I love the colors in this.
- 39:35Peter Eggleston Connor: Fair enough.
- 39:38Tad Eggleston: I, I, I loved.
- 39:39Peter Eggleston Connor: I think that's the one that goes off and calls them Indigenous savages somewhere.
- 39:45Matt: I think…
- 39:46Tad Eggleston: No, that's… I thought the next one.
- 39:49Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, is it the next one?
- 39:52Tad Eggleston: Because didn't that one involve Christmas?
- 39:56Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, it is the next one.
- 39:58Peter Eggleston Connor: No, the next one… Oh, it…
- 40:01Peter Eggleston Connor: It's supposedly a tale of Christmas, even though I don't know how that has… the next one has anything to do with Christmas, it's just by Mobius.
- 40:12Tad Eggleston: I did enjoy the Mobius.
- 40:14Tad Eggleston: And…
- 40:14Matt: This was the hunting, those dudes, yeah, yeah.
- 40:17Tad Eggleston: Yeah, that's right. And you're right, I don't know how it was a tale of Christmas.
- 40:22Peter Eggleston Connor: It's… it's not.
- 40:27Matt: hey.
- 40:28Tad Eggleston: It's the Christmas where the humans get impaled.
- 40:31Matt: Christmas pictures are different on different places!
- 40:35Tad Eggleston: I agree.
- 40:36Tad Eggleston: I feel like.
- 40:40Peter Eggleston Connor: They're hunting, like, other sentient beings.
- 40:43Matt: Yes.
- 40:43Peter Eggleston Connor: It's pretty… pretty.
- 40:46Matt: The most dangerous game.
- 40:51Peter Eggleston Connor: They're not hunting each other.
- 40:56Peter Eggleston Connor: It's a better short story than it was a movie, I feel like.
- 41:00Tad Eggleston: I don't disagree.
- 41:02Peter Eggleston Connor: It did okay as a movie.
- 41:04Peter Eggleston Connor: But, not great.
- 41:09Tad Eggleston: We watched it recently.
- 41:12Tad Eggleston: Was that your pick?
- 41:14Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah.
- 41:15Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, it got told to me, it got suggested to me by, A friend.
- 41:22Peter Eggleston Connor: So…
- 41:23Dillon Gilbertson: Which movie is this?
- 41:24Peter Eggleston Connor: The most dangerous game, 1940-something edition, not… not the 2020 whatever.
- 41:31Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:32Peter Eggleston Connor: Which I also think I saw didn't get, like, particularly great reviews, but…
- 41:39Dillon Gilbertson: Watch the 1990s movie, The Pest, with John Leguizamo. Just do that instead.
- 41:46Peter Eggleston Connor: There you go.
- 41:47Dillon Gilbertson: That's a great, it's a great adaptation of the Most Dangerous game.
- 41:51Peter Eggleston Connor: I think… oh, the past is a great adaptation of the most dangerous game,
- 41:57Peter Eggleston Connor: Have to check that out.
- 41:59Peter Eggleston Connor: But no.
- 42:07Peter Eggleston Connor: The nice thing about the 1940-something version of the Most Dangerous Game was it was only about an hour long, which is about what I imagine you could squeeze out of that story, realistically.
- 42:17Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah.
- 42:18Peter Eggleston Connor: Without making a huge amount of changes.
- 42:25Peter Eggleston Connor: The kind of dumb part was that, I don't know, it just felt like it was like, oh, well…
- 42:30Peter Eggleston Connor: You know, do this, and then do the same thing again, except… differently.
- 42:38Peter Eggleston Connor: And then we'll run.
- 42:43Peter Eggleston Connor: but it kept a lot of the same tone as the story, so… But, going back to…
- 42:53Peter Eggleston Connor: A Tale of Christmas, which, again, no idea why it's called A Tale of Christmas. Probably…
- 43:00Tad Eggleston: Christmas… Issue.
- 43:02Peter Eggleston Connor: Probably something to do with Mobius.
- 43:04Matt: Happened.
- 43:06Peter Eggleston Connor: Sure.
- 43:09Peter Eggleston Connor: I guess these kind of look like angels, too. I mean, they got.
- 43:12Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah. Yeah.
- 43:15Tad Eggleston: They're hunting angels, I like it.
- 43:20Tad Eggleston: It feels like a total tale of Christmas.
- 43:23Peter Eggleston Connor: And then the angels, turn out to be luring them into a trap.
- 43:28Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, is this, like, the literal war on Christmas? Like, the men are going to…
- 43:32Dillon Gilbertson: By the Kingdom of Heaven.
- 43:35Matt: Did we skip on the side of the highway?
- 43:38Peter Eggleston Connor: No.
- 43:40Peter Eggleston Connor: We went through it really quickly, we talked about it.
- 43:43Matt: You know what, I might have left the room, apologize.
- 43:47Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, like…
- 43:48Dillon Gilbertson: We enjoyed it.
- 43:49Tad Eggleston: boobies. I enjoyed it. I don't know what to say.
- 43:52Tad Eggleston: Very odd.
- 43:53Matt: I ran!
- 43:53Tad Eggleston: mad?
- 43:53Matt: Imus? It's not like me.
- 43:55Peter Eggleston Connor: I did like the boobies in that… that one.
- 43:57Matt: move.
- 44:00Peter Eggleston Connor: And the freedom.
- 44:05Peter Eggleston Connor: But yeah, no, I don't know. This is an interesting story, like, what I kind of liked about it, yeah, it is a little bit most dangerous game feel to it, just because it's like, they're hunting this sentient creature, and, like, they're like, oh, it's some, like, most dangerous game you can hunt, it's the most exciting, blah blah blah blah blah.
- 44:23Peter Eggleston Connor: And then, like, these guys just end up luring them into a fucking trap and killing.
- 44:29Peter Eggleston Connor: And saying, like, we are now declaring open war on man.
- 44:33Peter Eggleston Connor: So…
- 44:37Dillon Gilbertson: No.
- 44:38Tad Eggleston: Then we have…
- 44:40Dillon Gilbertson: Gnomes felt like, like a worse version of giants.
- 44:45Matt: You know what I mean?
- 44:46Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah.
- 44:47Dillon Gilbertson: It had some… I had some jokes in there.
- 44:49Peter Eggleston Connor: It's just humorous, but yeah, kind of stupid.
- 44:56Dillon Gilbertson: I'm really at odds with the Ku Klux gnomes.
- 45:00Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, on one side, I'm like, that's actually really clever.
- 45:04Dillon Gilbertson: really clever and funny, but also, it doesn't seem like it bashes the KKK enough for my taste. Like, if they had talked more about how they suck, and they should all go away…
- 45:14Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, essentially it says that these gnomes, like…
- 45:18Dillon Gilbertson: Like, didn't like.
- 45:19Peter Eggleston Connor: Like humans, so they would just, like, stack up on each other, and then call themselves,
- 45:25Dillon Gilbertson: No, no.
- 45:26Peter Eggleston Connor: gnome gnome, with using a K instead of a G. And then, you know, humans, being the stupid jerks they are, took after them and used it for something else.
- 45:36Dillon Gilbertson: They just, they just, they just twisted their hatred into something else.
- 45:42Peter Eggleston Connor: Also, why gnomes wear hats? Not sure I like that part either.
- 45:46Matt: That was funny, I thought that was great.
- 45:48Peter Eggleston Connor: You like the why gnomes wear hats?
- 45:50Matt: Yeah.
- 45:51Peter Eggleston Connor: Code has.
- 45:52Peter Eggleston Connor: Did you also like the movie Coneheads, Matt?
- 45:56Tad Eggleston: I mean, Coneheads is a good movie.
- 45:58Peter Eggleston Connor: It is actually a good movie, yeah.
- 46:00Tad Eggleston: We are from France.
- 46:01Matt: I don't know.
- 46:02Dillon Gilbertson: 5 more minutes.
- 46:04Peter Eggleston Connor: It was… it was actually pretty good. But, like, it's pretty stupid, because it's like, even if you look at the page before, where they have no homosexuals, it's like…
- 46:14Peter Eggleston Connor: There's a hat that's not sticking up like that, so I don't know.
- 46:19Matt: Maybe he needs Gnome Viagra.
- 46:22Peter Eggleston Connor: Okay, december 24th, 11.55pm, is that the name of it?
- 46:28Tad Eggleston: Yep.
- 46:29Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, wow.
- 46:30Matt: Yes.
- 46:33Tad Eggleston: It's our Christmas orgy.
- 46:36Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, yeah, it's fuckin'… Got some great, great fucking orgy art there.
- 46:44Tad Eggleston: And then we explode.
- 46:46Matt: Yep.
- 46:48Tad Eggleston: But the champagne bottle.
- 46:50Dillon Gilbertson: It's fine.
- 46:50Tad Eggleston: is still intact.
- 46:53Matt: Just like the terrorist passports on 9-11.
- 46:56Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, because he was holding it, and like, apparently, like, his arm, like… No, anyhow.
- 47:03Tad Eggleston: It's kind of like Ghostbusters and the flowers Still standing.
- 47:11Peter Eggleston Connor: That's so sad. That looks like such a… anyhow.
- 47:17Peter Eggleston Connor: -Oh.
- 47:18Matt: This is the…
- 47:19Tad Eggleston: won.
- 47:21Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, this was the one.
- 47:22Matt: Yes.
- 47:23Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah.
- 47:23Matt: There's the one, yeah.
- 47:24Peter Eggleston Connor: Yup.
- 47:25Tad Eggleston: This is the…
- 47:26Peter Eggleston Connor: The one that really, really… Got done, and… oh, yeah.
- 47:32Tad Eggleston: Where he taught the, the, the, the…
- 47:35Matt: savages.
- 47:35Tad Eggleston: The Indian Camps About Christmas.
- 47:38Matt: Yup.
- 47:38Tad Eggleston: So that he could steal his horse back.
- 47:41Tad Eggleston: But…
- 47:43Tad Eggleston: I… Well…
- 47:47Dillon Gilbertson: Texas the Kid.
- 47:49Dillon Gilbertson: The Texas King.
- 47:50Tad Eggleston: It says, after starting the fire. It doesn't say he burned them out, though it kinda does look like that. But, it, like, for good measure…
- 48:01Tad Eggleston: Kitty was okay with him not being there, because the Texas kid had been with her.
- 48:06Matt: That's right.
- 48:07Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, no.
- 48:11Tad Eggleston: Yeah, I didn't see the plume in the circle initially.
- 48:14Tad Eggleston: So I thought maybe he was just starting the cook fire.
- 48:18Tad Eggleston: But, no.
- 48:20Dillon Gilbertson: Vaguely looks like there's a swastika in the fire there.
- 48:25Peter Eggleston Connor: What? Seriously?
- 48:28Tad Eggleston: Oh, and this fire.
- 48:30Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, and not fire.
- 48:32Tad Eggleston: Yeah, yeah.
- 48:34Tad Eggleston: Well, and there's also the… the…
- 48:37Tad Eggleston: The… the reference to alcohol, so…
- 48:41Matt: Yeah.
- 48:41Peter Eggleston Connor: Cheers!
- 48:42Matt: Cause he's more used to it.
- 48:44Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, they, they make… yeah.
- 48:46Matt: Yeah.
- 48:47Peter Eggleston Connor: They make a lot of negative, connotations.
- 48:50Tad Eggleston: And somehow, I don't know if it was my least favorite story, because I… Geely didn't like this one.
- 48:58Peter Eggleston Connor: You know what I love…
- 48:59Matt: I love this car.
- 49:01Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, I was gonna say.
- 49:02Matt: Sorry in this issue.
- 49:04Peter Eggleston Connor: This was… I loved this one, it was amazing.
- 49:06Tad Eggleston: It just made me too.
- 49:08Tad Eggleston: comfortable.
- 49:09Peter Eggleston Connor: I fucking hate the main character, but I like it.
- 49:12Peter Eggleston Connor: character, so… He's like, I'm a moron.
- 49:17Matt: Yup.
- 49:22Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm gonna leave my wife with a strange man.
- 49:25Peter Eggleston Connor: On Christmas.
- 49:26Matt: I loved this story.
- 49:30Matt: Definitely gets a favorite story for me.
- 49:35Peter Eggleston Connor: I might…
- 49:36Tad Eggleston: is… Couldn't get over the sexual assault.
- 49:41Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah.
- 49:42Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, that's… Pretty gross. It's true.
- 49:48Tad Eggleston: You know, the way it was telegraphed coming.
- 49:51Tad Eggleston: the way, like, he's kind of aware of it, but, like, she didn't mention it, so I'm not gonna mention it.
- 50:02Tad Eggleston: Yuck.
- 50:04Tad Eggleston: The art's gorgeous.
- 50:06Matt: That's why I love it.
- 50:08Tad Eggleston: And better for the fact that it didn't show the uncomfortable parts.
- 50:12Matt: Yeah.
- 50:13Peter Eggleston Connor: That was what I was gonna say, at least they didn't, like… Actually televise it.
- 50:21Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, some of the art is, like, Bernie Wrightson, almost, a little.
- 50:24Matt: Yes!
- 50:24Tad Eggleston: If it, if it was done.
- 50:27Tad Eggleston: style, I would have rewritten some parts.
- 50:29Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah.
- 50:31Peter Eggleston Connor: Sure.
- 50:32Matt: Bernie Racing thing? I thought that the whole time I read this.
- 50:34Dillon Gilbertson: my mom.
- 50:38Tad Eggleston: And, like, at least she kicks his ass at the end. Yup. I mean, I'll give you that.
- 50:45Peter Eggleston Connor: For a bit… before you…
- 50:47Matt: Heals over the lamp. Yeah.
- 50:49Peter Eggleston Connor: Kills her, and then goes after all the… Twisted creatures.
- 50:54Tad Eggleston: I think I would have ended it at her kicking.
- 50:57Matt: Yeah, that probably would have made it a little better.
- 51:00Dillon Gilbertson: Boom.
- 51:00Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, they probably should have, just…
- 51:06Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, that… if he was on the floor like that, and he just said, like, the next scenes had actually been more, like.
- 51:13Peter Eggleston Connor: You know, just…
- 51:16Peter Eggleston Connor: And then something came down, and then, like, you know, just stop of the text, because the text is his stream of conscience.
- 51:24Peter Eggleston Connor: Would have been peak.
- 51:29Tad Eggleston: But yeah, no, this one was… was…
- 51:32Tad Eggleston: intensely uncomfortable to me, and not in a way that I was ultimately satisfied with. I'm not saying that uncomfortable art is in and of itself.
- 51:43Tad Eggleston: always bad, and I don't even know if this one qualifies as one that I think isn't worth making for its uncomfortableness, but it was…
- 51:53Tad Eggleston: It's too much for me.
- 51:55Dillon Gilbertson: I gotcha.
- 51:56Peter Eggleston Connor: Fair enough.
- 51:56Dillon Gilbertson: I'm with you.
- 52:01Tad Eggleston: So…
- 52:03Tad Eggleston: Which doesn't mean you guys can't talk about what you like about it, because, like, if you're picking it for best story, you should say more than you've been able to, because I jumped in and… icky.
- 52:15Peter Eggleston Connor: I would…
- 52:16Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm not picking it for Best Story. I did like it. It had a lot of, like, great art. I love the black and white.
- 52:26Peter Eggleston Connor: Or how… how they did the shading and all the black and white work.
- 52:31Matt: The inking, the ink works.
- 52:33Peter Eggleston Connor: It's just…
- 52:35Matt: Phenomenal.
- 52:37Peter Eggleston Connor: And,
- 52:39Peter Eggleston Connor: Aside from, yeah, the really fucked up bit in the middle, the story is fairly interesting, I don't know.
- 52:48Peter Eggleston Connor: I think, like, yeah, probably… If there was some form of rewrite where it was less implicative of
- 53:00Peter Eggleston Connor: That… and or, you know, even if they touched on that, and there was less of…
- 53:06Peter Eggleston Connor: The whole historic, oh, we're not gonna talk about this terrible thing that happened.
- 53:12Dillon Gilbertson: I knew you.
- 53:12Peter Eggleston Connor: Because you're a woman, And… what have you.
- 53:18Matt: Hey, if she doesn't bring it up, you don't have to talk about it.
- 53:22Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, I'm not saying you should force the issue, but it's kind of like…
- 53:27Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, I brought a man into our home and left him here.
- 53:33Matt: With you.
- 53:34Peter Eggleston Connor: So… when I went to work, instead of, like, forcing him up to get out, and…
- 53:40Matt: Give him a couple of dollars on his way out.
- 53:43Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah.
- 53:46Peter Eggleston Connor: And then the man turns out to be a monster, and blah blah blah blah, but… you know.
- 53:51Matt: Which they could have seen.
- 53:54Peter Eggleston Connor: Well, it's pretty clear that he's, like, a little bit…
- 53:58Matt: Yeah.
- 53:59Peter Eggleston Connor: different. And I mean, like…
- 54:01Tad Eggleston: Ellen… Is on the clock, and that was the last story.
- 54:07Tad Eggleston: So… we should run through picks.
- 54:12Peter Eggleston Connor: I did like the baby robot on the back, though. Just throwing that out there.
- 54:16Tad Eggleston: The baby robot on the back.
- 54:18Dillon Gilbertson: Baby robot!
- 54:21Tad Eggleston: Kinda like how there's the baby robot and the, like…
- 54:26Peter Eggleston Connor: The little image of the baby robot.
- 54:28Tad Eggleston: Image of the baby robot? Yeah.
- 54:31Dillon Gilbertson: Alright.
- 54:32Peter Eggleston Connor: Right.
- 54:32Peter Eggleston Connor: PEX. What are we doing?
- 54:34Tad Eggleston: My ongoings, Rolf.
- 54:36Matt: Rolf…
- 54:37Peter Eggleston Connor: Rolf.
- 54:38Peter Eggleston Connor: Is there even another ongoing in this issue?
- 54:41Dillon Gilbertson: I don't know.
- 54:43Dillon Gilbertson: I don't think so.
- 54:44Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't think so.
- 54:46Dillon Gilbertson: There, there was something, Part 2.
- 54:48Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, okay. Oh, no, there was the Cityville 2, but that's not part 2, it's just Cityville 2.
- 54:53Dillon Gilbertson: Oh, okay.
- 54:55Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah.
- 54:56Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, then I think it was just wrong.
- 54:58Peter Eggleston Connor: I think it was…
- 54:58Dillon Gilbertson: It's just gonna…
- 54:59Tad Eggleston: Well, you know… There's only one choice. It was.
- 55:02Peter Eggleston Connor: Well, that, but it's also worth… worth giving, like, nomination to, right? If, like, there was only one choice and it was terrible, we could just be like, no, we're not giving it any.
- 55:12Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah, yeah.
- 55:12Tad Eggleston: That's true.
- 55:14Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh.
- 55:14Tad Eggleston: That's true.
- 55:15Peter Eggleston Connor: But Rolf was really good.
- 55:18Tad Eggleston: I think I've got a tie for my top story between After the Fall and Paupele Paumanu.
- 55:32Peter Eggleston Connor: My favorite story was actually the… the, off the highway one.
- 55:42Dillon Gilbertson: Is it after the fall?
- 55:43Tad Eggleston: what was that? Was that Side of the Highway?
- 55:45Peter Eggleston Connor: highway, something like that? Let me go find it.
- 55:50Peter Eggleston Connor: On this tablet.
- 55:54Matt: On the Side of the Highway by Harold, page 44.
- 55:58Peter Eggleston Connor: There you go.
- 56:00Peter Eggleston Connor: On the side of the highway.
- 56:05Dillon Gilbertson: I mean, it's not really a story, it seems like, but I like… I just like Giants.
- 56:12Tad Eggleston: That works?
- 56:12Matt: And that's okay. You can do that.
- 56:14Dillon Gilbertson: I'll take that one as my…

- 56:27Peter Eggleston Connor: I still have to decide on that.
- 56:29Dillon Gilbertson: My favorite image, slash.
- 56:31Matt: I'm going with the one on the contents page, I love that.
- 56:33Dillon Gilbertson: Oh, yeah. It's good.
- 56:36Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, yeah. But they mirror on the next page.
- 56:39Matt: Yep.
- 56:41Peter Eggleston Connor: That was pretty cool.
- 56:42Matt: Yep.
- 56:44Dillon Gilbertson: Mine's the double page on the first… the intro of Giants, the mountain giant laying down.
- 56:52Peter Eggleston Connor: Doubling down on giants.
- 56:54Dillon Gilbertson: Double down.
- 56:56Dillon Gilbertson: The giant doubled it.
- 56:57Tad Eggleston: The, the, the mountain giant for Dylan?
- 57:00Dillon Gilbertson: Yep.
- 57:05Peter Eggleston Connor: You know, I might… I might actually go with Craw.
- 57:12Matt: Oh, it's your favorite panel?
- 57:14Peter Eggleston Connor: Yep.
- 57:15Dillon Gilbertson: Crawl.
- 57:17Tad Eggleston: That's a good one. I like it.
- 57:19Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, I'm going with the fact.
- 57:21Tad Eggleston: cover, though.
- 57:23Peter Eggleston Connor: I totally… I totally get what Matt was saying about it, where I was like, well, it's either Craw… It might have to take Ty. It might be… it's between Craw and in Rolf, the last four panels.
- 57:32Dillon Gilbertson: Yeah…
- 57:35Peter Eggleston Connor: But it's tied between those two.
- 57:42Tad Eggleston: I… Didn't actually wind up noticing until we were starting to record.
- 57:50Tad Eggleston: that…
- 57:55Tad Eggleston: the… the… the Jet Santa was connected to 8 jet reindeer.
- 58:02Tad Eggleston: Rather than just… I saw… I saw, I saw the, like, the… and I didn't realize that they kept the whole reindeer and sled thing going, but with, like…
- 58:12Tad Eggleston: Jets.

- 58:23Tad Eggleston: my thing.
- 58:25Tad Eggleston: So… Look at that. Dylan, we got you out. Max!
