- 0:00We tend to overlook or disregard the capacity of the body and its
- 0:05body consciousness to aid in the spiritual quest.
- 0:09Each element of the being, the mind, the vital nature and the
- 0:14body has its own consciousness and capacity for response.
- 0:20Each element also can either be an aid or an obstacle to the
- 0:24development of the spiritual nature, depending on how we
- 0:28treat it and interact with it. Particularly for those who are
- 0:33centered in the mind or the heart, the body consciousness
- 0:36seems particularly dull and non responsive.
- 0:41Past habit in many spiritual traditions actually dismisses
- 0:44the body from the seeking and looks to minimize its role and
- 0:48eventually put it aside as a higher transcendent level is
- 0:52achieved. This, however, appears to be a
- 0:56misunderstanding about the role and capacity of the body to aid
- 1:00the spiritual development. Each plane of consciousness has
- 1:05its own unique contribution to the totality of the required
- 1:09development. The body, anchored as it is in
- 1:13the external material world, is an important element in the
- 1:17transformation of the external existence.
- 1:20The body is also capable of receiving, holding and radiating
- 1:25back higher energies with which it comes into contact.
- 1:31We are all familiar with the fact that rocks can absorb heat
- 1:34from various sources, hold that heat for quite some time, and
- 1:39let it back out over a period of time.
- 1:42An experiment was done with the vital force of prayer.
- 1:46A researcher took two similar rocks, one of which had been
- 1:50part of an active temple where intensive prayer took place for
- 1:53a long period of time, and the other one with no such
- 1:57provenance. Curly, in photography of the
- 2:00two, showed that the temple rock had a strong radiant aura
- 2:05streaming out from it, while the ordinary rock had no such
- 2:09energetic vibration. It is clear, therefore, that
- 2:13even dense matter can and does pick up and store and radiate
- 2:18energy, not just material energy such as the heat, but also
- 2:23spiritual energy in the form of prayer.
- 2:26This provides us a clue to the important role that the body
- 2:30consciousness can and does play in the transformation of
- 2:34consciousness, both for the individual seeker and for the
- 2:39world. Change the Mother observes.
- 2:43Quote. Then faith awakens in the cells
- 2:46of the body, and you will see that you find a response in your
- 2:51body itself. The body itself will feel that
- 2:54if its inner will helps, fortifies, directs, leads, well,
- 3:01all its limitations will gradually disappear.
- 3:05And so when the first experience comes, which sometimes begins
- 3:10when 1 is very young, the first contact with the inner joy, the
- 3:15inner beauty, the inner light, the first contact with that
- 3:20which suddenly makes you feel, oh, that is what I want.
- 3:26You must cultivate it, never forget it, hold it constantly
- 3:31before you tell yourself, I have felt it once, so I can feel it
- 3:36again. This has been real for me, even
- 3:39for the space of a second. And that is what I am going to
- 3:43revive in myself and encourage the body to seek it, to seek it
- 3:50with the confidence that it carries that possibility within
- 3:54itself and that if it calls for it, it will come back, it will
- 3:59be realized again. This is what should be done when
- 4:03one is young. This is what should be done
- 4:05every time one has the opportunity to recollect
- 4:10oneself, commune with oneself, seek oneself.
