- 0:10Speaker 2: Got to come off the bench.

- 0:38Speaker 3: and Tata y'all here with you on this Tuesday morning.
- 0:42Speaker 3: I believe report day for You're fighting Tigers is tomorrow,
- 0:46Speaker 3: if I'm not mistaken.
- 0:47Speaker 2: That is that correct?
- 0:48Speaker 4: That they actually report today practice first first practices tomorrow?
- 0:54Speaker 2: Really boring? I just got the training camp shivers. I remember,
- 1:04Speaker 2: I remember report day? You carry your bag?
- 1:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that's exactly where my brain went. Is like carrying
- 1:09Speaker 3: your stuff into West Camp West.
- 1:12Speaker 5: Remember when when Danny Etling reported training campus senior year.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Oh yeah, didn't have a flint shirt on. Forgot about that?
- 1:22Speaker 2: Did you work with him? Yeah?
- 1:23Speaker 4: It was okay, Yeah, you had the Air Canada shirt
- 1:28Speaker 4: the year before that?
- 1:29Speaker 2: Remember, yeah it might have but mine might have been
- 1:31Speaker 2: the year.
- 1:31Speaker 5: I can't remember who's who it was that he was
- 1:34Speaker 5: too much star one year.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah, so what he printed. Uh, I don't know where
- 1:38Speaker 2: you got that shirt from. Is the one who you
- 1:39Speaker 2: holding the crystal ball? I think it was. I have
- 1:40Speaker 2: one of those as well. Uh did you get him forced?
- 1:44Speaker 2: I think got him forced. He didn't get one from me.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Yeah, he probably did. I'm just assuming that you misplaced
- 1:50Speaker 3: it like you.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Danny Atling. I called him Danny Etling.
- 1:54Speaker 5: He just got that looks shrimp. He just got Flynn
- 1:57Speaker 5: uh sneaky NFL quarterback at least five years, right.
- 2:05Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 2:06Speaker 3: I know he's playing right now in the the UFL.
- 2:09Speaker 3: I don't know if he got five of like vested years.
- 2:14Speaker 5: I'm not even gonna ask chat GPT because I'll said
- 2:16Speaker 5: to do it too much. I'm just gonna ask Google.
- 2:20Speaker 2: It's just not fa.
- 2:22Speaker 3: You tried to burn me yesterday by saying we lost
- 2:24Speaker 3: to the Buccaneers in eight in like week four, and
- 2:27Speaker 3: we beat him in week sixteen in eight and got
- 2:30Speaker 3: John Gruden fired.
- 2:31Speaker 2: We killed.
- 2:33Speaker 6: I said, I loved how much he used chat GPT.
- 2:37Speaker 5: You did all right, respect that well practice tape, And
- 2:41Speaker 5: I said, that's honestly all I got.
- 2:43Speaker 7: Jake is the one that was like, you need to
- 2:46Speaker 7: stop trusting he does.
- 2:47Speaker 3: He like it got him at SEC Media Days, it
- 2:50Speaker 3: got him yesterday trying to burn me.
- 2:52Speaker 2: It's got me a couple of times.
- 2:54Speaker 3: I think it's a good tool for some things, Like
- 3:00Speaker 3: you know, if you want to check your grammar on
- 3:02Speaker 3: something you're writing, quick grammar check. There's websites to do that,
- 3:05Speaker 3: but it's just it's quick.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Like what about So here's an example of what I do.
- 3:10Speaker 5: We're having Wressell Shepherd on like I just asked for
- 3:14Speaker 5: a brief, like a bio brief overview of his career.
- 3:17Speaker 5: That's kind of what I did with that guy that
- 3:18Speaker 5: got me at Baylor. It's like, give me, give me
- 3:20Speaker 5: an overview his career. And one of the overviews is
- 3:22Speaker 5: like he had a highlight game in the bulkames how
- 3:24Speaker 5: many yards they do for?
- 3:24Speaker 2: And I was like, yeah, so you threw for this
- 3:25Speaker 2: many yards.
- 3:26Speaker 6: He's like, no, Oh my gosh, that's how much he
- 3:32Speaker 6: used Gibt Jake. You got to stop trusting it. And
- 3:37Speaker 6: I also forgot that we were naming like the most
- 3:40Speaker 6: random baseball players last night, and I was like I
- 3:42Speaker 6: just kind of blacked out and started doing it.
- 3:45Speaker 2: That no do what you're talking about. That that game.
- 3:49Speaker 2: I knew a couple of those ns.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Not random that that game could be fun, like a
- 3:54Speaker 3: snub like somebody. If somebody was sitting there drinking with
- 3:56Speaker 3: me and a Landro like and playing that game, they'd
- 3:58Speaker 3: hate us.
- 3:59Speaker 7: That was I don't know why I.
- 4:02Speaker 6: Can name like so many Royals players.
- 4:05Speaker 2: It was fun.
- 4:07Speaker 3: It had like it had like a mix of like
- 4:08Speaker 3: their homegrown players and also like some old heads that
- 4:11Speaker 3: they brought in.
- 4:12Speaker 2: It cannot better.
- 4:13Speaker 7: Like Moneyball a little bit, but like it worked.
- 4:17Speaker 2: It's like that looks Gordon.
- 4:19Speaker 4: He was like the guy on that team they brought in.
- 4:23Speaker 7: He's a captain.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I think they brought Lorenzo.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Caine that year in the outfield, and he was a
- 4:29Speaker 4: he was a guy they had just brought.
- 4:30Speaker 7: I liked Lorenzo Kaine.
- 4:31Speaker 6: So Lorenzo Kine got injured and he got sent down
- 4:34Speaker 6: for rehab and the team, I forget the team it was.
- 4:38Speaker 7: He It wasn't round Rock, but he played against round Rock.
- 4:42Speaker 6: And this was like after they won the World Series
- 4:45Speaker 6: and I went to that game. But this was like
- 4:47Speaker 6: I was still in high school, so I had a
- 4:49Speaker 6: curfew and I had to go home, but I was
- 4:51Speaker 6: so mad because I wanted to get Lorenzo Kine, a
- 4:54Speaker 6: World Series champ, to sign a baseball that I had,
- 4:57Speaker 6: and I had got his attention and he told me
- 4:59Speaker 6: to wait for him after game and he'd sign my ball.
- 5:01Speaker 6: And I had to leave before the game was over,
- 5:03Speaker 6: and I was so mad. I didn't talk to my
- 5:05Speaker 6: parents for the rest of the night. I was so mad.
- 5:08Speaker 3: I had had an experience like that in the minor
- 5:11Speaker 3: league game shout out to the Shreefport Captains. There used
- 5:14Speaker 3: to be a double A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants,
- 5:18Speaker 3: and the affiliate would come play like one game a year,
- 5:21Speaker 3: like the you know, the major league club to the
- 5:23Speaker 3: we'll play one game a year there, and the San
- 5:25Speaker 3: Francisco Giants came and I think, like Kevin Mitchell was
- 5:28Speaker 3: on that Giants team, but more importantly, Will Clark was
- 5:30Speaker 3: on that team, and I knew Will Clark was from
- 5:33Speaker 3: Louisiana and I know he wasn'tn LSU.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Guy. I went to Mississippi State.
- 5:37Speaker 3: But I wanted like Will Clark to sign my baseball
- 5:40Speaker 3: so bad, and like I finally Guy's attention, I'm like, well, well,
- 5:45Speaker 3: my guy's attention.
- 5:46Speaker 2: I'm like, you sign you signed? He looked at me
- 5:48Speaker 2: and turned away. No, that was messed up.
- 5:52Speaker 6: He came to Guarantee one time and I met him
- 5:55Speaker 6: while he was here, and he was super cool.
- 5:56Speaker 2: But I must say he's not I'm saying I don't
- 5:58Speaker 2: know him.
- 5:58Speaker 6: At all, but I've heard stuff like not just from you,
- 6:01Speaker 6: but I've heard stuff like that.
- 6:02Speaker 7: And I so I didn't want to ask him to
- 6:05Speaker 7: take a picture.
- 6:05Speaker 6: I mean I was, but I was new here, so
- 6:08Speaker 6: I was definitely not going to ask him.
- 6:12Speaker 2: For though.
- 6:13Speaker 3: I just remember when my parents used to talk up
- 6:16Speaker 3: Will Clark, so I was I hit left handed and
- 6:18Speaker 3: like you need to hit like well you know the
- 6:19Speaker 3: left handed. I just remember like Will Clark was like
- 6:22Speaker 3: big in our house. He's like the only non brave
- 6:24Speaker 3: that we ever talked about. And then he was coming
- 6:27Speaker 3: to Shreveport and I don't even think he played that day.
- 6:29Speaker 2: I think he was just there. I think like he's just.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Like tune it up and he was like in the dugout.
- 6:35Speaker 2: I got his attention, but.
- 6:37Speaker 5: Quickly if he can't not everybody's look.
- 6:42Speaker 3: I'm just saying like I remember, like it's a core memory,
- 6:45Speaker 3: like well, a lot.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Of eight year old, a lot of eight year.
- 6:49Speaker 6: Old at that time was an eight year old and
- 6:54Speaker 6: he had a football and he's like, man, Matt, you
- 6:56Speaker 6: would look at him and turn away.
- 6:58Speaker 2: No, that would sign it exactly.
- 7:00Speaker 5: So the only time like this is okay, this is
- 7:02Speaker 5: back in the playing days where you know, there's people
- 7:04Speaker 5: just want autographs from people that have the jersey and helmet.
- 7:07Speaker 2: It's not about like the person. You know.
- 7:09Speaker 5: I'm not always so there is some times where I
- 7:14Speaker 5: would turn away. Little kids, I'm gonna, I'm gonna.
- 7:21Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you why so much.
- 7:23Speaker 7: I'm gonna I'm tell you why I called you a
- 7:25Speaker 7: d bag and you're.
- 7:26Speaker 5: I'm gonna tell you why because everywhere you go, and
- 7:29Speaker 5: Jake's gonna attest to this when I bring it up.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Everywhere you go when.
- 7:32Speaker 5: You fly to a hotel where if you stay at
- 7:35Speaker 5: your hotel, there is a group of people that find
- 7:38Speaker 5: their way around the security security barriers and they're autograph hounds. Yeah, okay,
- 7:43Speaker 5: And there are people that that dude for a living.
- 7:46Speaker 5: They sell autographs, They sell pictures, and they will try
- 7:50Speaker 5: to sneak around and get autographs for the sole purpose
- 7:53Speaker 5: of selling them. It's not for a fan, it's not
- 7:56Speaker 5: for like to go up on their wall or whatever.
- 7:59Speaker 5: And players started getting used to this and learn and
- 8:02Speaker 5: figuring it out.
- 8:03Speaker 2: And you can and you can spot them. You can tell.
- 8:05Speaker 5: You can just tell because they have there's notebook of stuff,
- 8:07Speaker 5: they have a bag of stuff, and like so they
- 8:09Speaker 5: started trying to hide, and they try to hide the
- 8:11Speaker 5: fact that hide their stuff behind. They would start bringing
- 8:14Speaker 5: their wives to go ask for these autographs, and then
- 8:17Speaker 5: they started asking their children. Their children were like runners
- 8:20Speaker 5: for them, like they're like, all right, you you would
- 8:22Speaker 5: see them like back in the back because you would
- 8:24Speaker 5: get off the bus and you see them, all right.
- 8:25Speaker 5: They'd give their kid a card or a picture or
- 8:28Speaker 5: something like go run and get it and like and
- 8:31Speaker 5: I would, and every now and then a kid would
- 8:33Speaker 5: come up.
- 8:33Speaker 2: And be like that is that your dad over there.
- 8:39Speaker 5: I had a hard time doing it, but there was
- 8:41Speaker 5: people around me that certainly would something like.
- 8:44Speaker 2: That vis Ago.
- 8:51Speaker 5: If you followed any athlete or quarterback, you would see
- 8:54Speaker 5: him turned down.
- 8:55Speaker 2: A lot of quarter all have a meeting being like
- 8:59Speaker 2: Phillips would sign a lot. But I give that situation.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Probably those kind of.
- 9:03Speaker 5: Guys like like if a quarter of starting quarterback in the
- 9:05Speaker 5: NFL is gonna sign everybody's autograph who wants to like it,
- 9:08Speaker 5: it's gonna they'd still be signing.
- 9:10Speaker 4: I could just I just see y'all having a meeting
- 9:12Speaker 4: and being like, gosh, don't fall for it.
- 9:13Speaker 2: The kids are more.
- 9:14Speaker 5: They also come back with like this piece of paper
- 9:16Speaker 5: and they're all like taped and like he's like, can
- 9:18Speaker 5: you sign all eighty of these?
- 9:19Speaker 2: So I'll sign one one.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Stuff saying like they don't sign with blue ink or
- 9:25Speaker 4: something like that.
- 9:25Speaker 5: For you, like if someone comes with that as a player,
- 9:28Speaker 5: you're like, if anybody asked for like if they give
- 9:30Speaker 5: you a pen with blue ink, don't sign?
- 9:33Speaker 2: Is it because it's easier to like I don't know.
- 9:36Speaker 2: I don't know did y'all have it?
- 9:37Speaker 5: Did people ever tell you all that they told us,
- 9:40Speaker 5: or like they come out to you with the blue ink,
- 9:41Speaker 5: don't don't sign it?
- 9:42Speaker 4: Oh no, I've seen that from like like red carpet
- 9:45Speaker 4: celebrities and stuff talk about like, yeah, you can't sign
- 9:47Speaker 4: anything with blue een.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Yeah that was that was That was the real thing.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I'm not trying. They're autographed hawk there is right right.
- 9:52Speaker 3: I saw I swear to like in this statement, I'm
- 9:54Speaker 3: not trying to be funny. We didn't have the same
- 9:58Speaker 3: situation probably as a Green Bay pam Like I'm not
- 10:01Speaker 3: just you know, No, San Diego and.
- 10:03Speaker 8: The Chargers we had Hall of fames that had valuable
- 10:09Speaker 8: but when I went, well, when I went to Denver,
- 10:13Speaker 8: like that's when I kind of saw like what you're
- 10:15Speaker 8: talking about, like people hiding.
- 10:17Speaker 3: And coming out of the bushes basically and kids asking
- 10:20Speaker 3: for parents for like some of the players we had
- 10:22Speaker 3: on that team, like in San Diego as wild because
- 10:26Speaker 3: I don't I don't you know, I don't know if
- 10:28Speaker 3: it's because nobody's actually from there. I don't like cause
- 10:31Speaker 3: it's not like it's a it's a big city, don't
- 10:33Speaker 3: get me wrong, but there's so many other things to
- 10:35Speaker 3: do that like people aren't that's probably why they're not there,
- 10:38Speaker 3: Like weren't really worried about it. So like we'd all
- 10:42Speaker 3: go out like to the movies, to dinner, to like whatever,
- 10:45Speaker 3: and maybe like one or two would come up to
- 10:48Speaker 3: even Philip like for an autograph. So I think you
- 10:53Speaker 3: truly like y'all had a different situation because like you're
- 10:55Speaker 3: the Green Bay Packers, like you're one of like the OG's,
- 10:58Speaker 3: like when you went to Chicago. I can't imagine what
- 11:02Speaker 3: that was like, because when you go to Chicago, they
- 11:05Speaker 3: know everybody.
- 11:06Speaker 2: I was blown away.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Like anytime we played the Bears in Chicago, we'd go
- 11:11Speaker 3: try to eat dinner and like the deep Snappers getting
- 11:14Speaker 3: asked for an autograph, like they know everybody.
- 11:17Speaker 2: That was our experience. Lease.
- 11:18Speaker 3: I played there twice, I think, and that was so
- 11:20Speaker 3: I'm sure like when y'all went to like places like Chicago,
- 11:23Speaker 3: which there's probably packer fans, I'm sure y'all couldn't even
- 11:26Speaker 3: get around town Ian we could.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Yeah you could.
- 11:28Speaker 5: You just had that group. You had, Yeah, the group,
- 11:30Speaker 5: and they you could. They were sitting there, they'd have
- 11:32Speaker 5: like five Duffel bags. They'd have every mini helmet you
- 11:35Speaker 5: could think of, real helmet jerseys like already pinned up
- 11:38Speaker 5: on cardboard.
- 11:39Speaker 2: You know what.
- 11:39Speaker 5: They were prepped and ready knew what they wanted to sell.
- 11:41Speaker 5: They already had the inventory. Yeah, they just needed to
- 11:44Speaker 5: get it signed. So watch one of those videos of anybody,
- 11:52Speaker 5: like anybody saying like if anybody doesn't sign, like on
- 11:56Speaker 5: a video. A lot of times if you look closely
- 11:59Speaker 5: somebody's handing them a blue ink pin and a card
- 12:01Speaker 5: and they're like, no, dude, and then they come off
- 12:03Speaker 5: as a prick. Yeah, I guess I did sign something
- 12:07Speaker 5: in I put so on like at this point our career,
- 12:10Speaker 5: it doesn't matter. It's like, yeah, if you needed that, BA,
- 12:13Speaker 5: if you need that, four dollars here, Bud take it.
- 12:17Speaker 5: And a lot of a lot of young players in
- 12:19Speaker 5: the NFL too. That's how they make a majority of
- 12:22Speaker 5: their money is signing things. So they're not gonna they're
- 12:25Speaker 5: not car they're not gonna sign.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Yeah bought my first car off card money. Yeah, they're
- 12:29Speaker 2: not going to like sign things, just like they'll sign
- 12:32Speaker 2: for kids. Yeah, okay, so right here.
- 12:35Speaker 4: According to Matt's favorite source, AI, it says due to
- 12:39Speaker 4: concerns about forgery or reproduction, so it must be easier
- 12:42Speaker 4: to like clam down on the blue ink and copy
- 12:45Speaker 4: it or something.
- 12:47Speaker 2: That's what it says. It says, my mind, I had
- 12:48Speaker 2: no idea this is a thing.
- 12:49Speaker 4: It's you can it's easier to reproduce an autograph with blue.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Ink, blue ink on the Herbie blue ink on the
- 12:57Speaker 3: Herbie blue ink on the Keenan Allen.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Okay, I get it.
- 13:03Speaker 3: Blue ink on that one too, Okay, cool, all three
- 13:05Speaker 3: of those are blue ink.
- 13:07Speaker 2: I get it, I get it.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Uh.
- 13:09Speaker 3: I actually I think it was a National Treasure card
- 13:12Speaker 3: of mine that I put on our off the break yesterday.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Huh signed by me blue ink. Yeah, just sign that,
- 13:20Speaker 3: says raider hater. Did you have a stack up at
- 13:22Speaker 3: your house?
- 13:23Speaker 2: No? Not, I got a stack of those of those
- 13:25Speaker 2: that are not signed.
- 13:26Speaker 5: Well on the back of online at least you like impress.
- 13:29Speaker 5: So when I got done playing, they did give me
- 13:32Speaker 5: a bag either. Yeah, they got a huge bag like
- 13:34Speaker 5: stacks in my cards my background because those ones are sweet.
- 13:38Speaker 2: But on the back of you it's like an impression.
- 13:40Speaker 5: You can barely it's like a watermarket says like a
- 13:41Speaker 5: sample on it.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Oh, very cool. Let me just check that out. See So,
- 13:49Speaker 2: but if you want an autograph of.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Me, that says raider hater, because I if I signed chargers,
- 13:55Speaker 3: I put raider hater and if I sign l s U,
- 13:57Speaker 3: it's gator hater.
- 13:58Speaker 5: Oh we gotta get it. We gotta release our video
- 14:00Speaker 5: a laundra cut up for us.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Yeah, we do, because she did a nice jack as
- 14:04Speaker 2: ye were talked, your tongue dry that day, probably did.
- 14:12Speaker 2: I don't know. It was bad. No, no, it was good.
- 14:16Speaker 7: It was good. I think the video came out really well.
- 14:19Speaker 7: But you like forgot to put one of the papers in.
- 14:25Speaker 6: The oh yeah, oh yeah yeah, so I just had
- 14:28Speaker 6: to fast forward that.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Part that was actually, Yeah, you did a good job.
- 14:31Speaker 2: We didn't give you a lot to work with. So yeah,
- 14:33Speaker 2: so update everybody.
- 14:35Speaker 5: We had five of our most valuable cards from our
- 14:38Speaker 5: collected days.
- 14:39Speaker 2: We've sent them off to p s A to be great.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Yeah that box, that box was an expensive box. That's
- 14:44Speaker 3: a used car box.
- 14:46Speaker 5: No, no, it's not that much. Well I think it's
- 14:48Speaker 5: great at tens. Maybe it gets great and tens. That
- 14:51Speaker 5: is a high school used car And currently they're currently
- 14:54Speaker 5: being graded right now, they're in the grading process because.
- 14:57Speaker 2: We we did the expedited service.
- 14:59Speaker 5: Yeah, and we're going to open them on air without
- 15:01Speaker 5: even looking at it.
- 15:02Speaker 2: And so if you think the S word is the
- 15:04Speaker 2: worst thing that Flynn said.
- 15:05Speaker 5: If they get like nine or eight, I might might quip, oh,
- 15:11Speaker 5: well you might get fired for what you say.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Yeah. So I have enjoyed it.
- 15:17Speaker 3: I have enjoyed and honestly, we might be the photograph first. Yeah,
- 15:22Speaker 3: the first day that we started this whole deal with
- 15:25Speaker 3: like trading cards was t Bob's going away party.
- 15:28Speaker 2: That's right, that's right.
- 15:30Speaker 5: I don't know how you're like, because I have you
- 15:32Speaker 5: been into cars? I recently started, like we got it.
- 15:35Speaker 5: And my son got into it in March maybe yeah,
- 15:38Speaker 5: just because he was had some buddies at school they
- 15:40Speaker 5: were they had seen some cards and he had really
- 15:42Speaker 5: been into NFL football recently. Yeah, so I took him
- 15:45Speaker 5: to a card shop. We opened some cards and like
- 15:48Speaker 5: he hit lad McConkie card that was worth like one
- 15:50Speaker 5: hundred bucks. And then like my ears perked up, was
- 15:52Speaker 5: like huh, yeah, those things are worth stuff.
- 15:57Speaker 2: And then started learning a little bit more about it.
- 15:58Speaker 3: But then yes, for your remember you would come in here,
- 16:01Speaker 3: you know, once every three weeks like you did, and
- 16:04Speaker 3: you would talk about it. I was like, man, that's cool,
- 16:06Speaker 3: Like I want to and so like I started, like
- 16:08Speaker 3: because I was the only thing I was ever chasing
- 16:10Speaker 3: was like the Paul Skins debut patch, like one of one,
- 16:13Speaker 3: like I bought boxes of those tops. Like I didn't know,
- 16:17Speaker 3: I had no idea, Like I hadn't I didn't know
- 16:19Speaker 3: what a refractor was.
- 16:20Speaker 2: I didn't know anything.
- 16:21Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, that's shiny, that's gotta be worth a
- 16:23Speaker 3: couple of dollars.
- 16:25Speaker 2: But it was T Bob's party that you did this.
- 16:29Speaker 2: It's your fault, was it.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Yeah, because we were saying goodbye to T Bob and
- 16:34Speaker 3: we're in the corner watching a card break and your
- 16:37Speaker 3: wife was judging us.
- 16:38Speaker 7: I literally walked over and was like, are you watching
- 16:40Speaker 7: the car? He's like, I'm not watching a card break.
- 16:42Speaker 2: No, you're watching a card break.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Hit I hit, I hit that one. Lad that you're
- 16:48Speaker 3: getting graded for me in that break? Yeah, what a
- 16:51Speaker 3: good memory. Yeah.
- 16:54Speaker 5: Then at your birthday party, gave you Jacob ester p
- 16:58Speaker 5: S a graded rookie card.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Only nine and a half didn't get a ten. Good
- 17:03Speaker 2: can splurge for the ten. Huh. They didn't have any
- 17:06Speaker 2: limited populations, zero.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Popular anytime that you got a card and you're in
- 17:11Speaker 3: your practice uniform and let you know how many you've
- 17:14Speaker 3: really got out there.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Only had two years of cards. First year, second year.
- 17:21Speaker 5: There's this card that I got that's got me on it,
- 17:23Speaker 5: and it's like four other quarterbacks on it, all rookie,
- 17:27Speaker 5: like the same age. Yeah, and they were all the
- 17:29Speaker 5: top pick so they like they were part of the
- 17:31Speaker 5: NFL premiere.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Flacco Ryan and so they all like at the Rookie Premiere.
- 17:36Speaker 2: So they all had like their game.
- 17:38Speaker 5: Yeah, and I had my red practice jersey and my
- 17:41Speaker 5: son's like, what, why did you have a practice jersey? Yeah,
- 17:44Speaker 5: well that seventh round pick.
- 17:46Speaker 3: It's right, you beat that second round pick out.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Hell yeah, he's calling place for which school now, matt
- 17:54Speaker 2: uh is he at Louisville? Yep?
- 17:57Speaker 5: He was the head coach of Louisville. His brother, Jeff,
- 18:00Speaker 5: you're really growing well great. His older brother has one
- 18:05Speaker 5: of the greatest sideline interviews of all time.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Come back. Yeah, we'll play that.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Jeff Brom, who I think is an incredible head coach.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Brian Bram, his brother who Flynn beat out. He was
- 18:19Speaker 3: a second round pick the same year flim as the
- 18:21Speaker 3: seventh round pick, is the OC there at Louisville, and
- 18:24Speaker 3: we'll play one of the best sidelined interviews. Also, after that,
- 18:28Speaker 3: we will get into a little l s U training
- 18:30Speaker 3: camp and we'll do it right here on o tvpter

- 20:16Speaker 3: ten minutes from now here is Louisville head coach Jeff Brown.
- 20:20Speaker 3: And how in the world are you starting this game
- 20:22Speaker 3: tonight after taking that hit just six days ago?
- 20:25Speaker 2: Well, let me answer. Let me answer that question by
- 20:27Speaker 2: asking you two questions. One is this or is this
- 20:31Speaker 2: not the XFL? Yes?
- 20:32Speaker 5: It is?
- 20:34Speaker 2: Two do or do I not currently have a pulse? Yes?
- 20:37Speaker 1: I do.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Let's play football. Oh that's in incredible. Wow, that's that's incredible.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Or do I not? And he like he meant that,
- 20:50Speaker 2: He meant it. He was ready for that question. But
- 20:53Speaker 2: how they go on the spot. They had him ready, dude,
- 20:57Speaker 2: that was incredible. I love They had to have told him, like, look,
- 21:00Speaker 2: I hope they didn't get an interviewed. I hope they
- 21:02Speaker 2: didn't either, because it off the top of the dough.
- 21:07Speaker 5: Yes, it is currently have a pulse. Yes, I did.
- 21:14Speaker 5: Fact the old XFL.
- 21:16Speaker 3: Yeah, like where the coin tosses two guys sprinting for
- 21:19Speaker 3: the football in whicheveryone recovers it gets to choose, like
- 21:24Speaker 3: there was so many collar bones that were just taken.
- 21:27Speaker 2: You got a concussion six days ago, but do I
- 21:32Speaker 2: do not have a pulse. Let's go.
- 21:34Speaker 5: You might got a couple of brain bruises in there currently.
- 21:39Speaker 5: I can't believe how much he looks like his brother.
- 21:40Speaker 5: To go ahead, lord, all.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Right, we mentioned that reporting days today. Practice actually starts
- 21:49Speaker 3: tomorrow for l s U. Super fired up for that,
- 21:53Speaker 3: and it truly is talking. Season is kind of over
- 21:56Speaker 3: and now with the Saints and LSU both in camp,
- 21:59Speaker 3: and I know they practiced in the morning, but you know,
- 22:02Speaker 3: Flynn and I are going to head across there at
- 22:03Speaker 3: some point. Go check out maybe the last couple of
- 22:05Speaker 3: periods of practice. I might just leave y'all and just
- 22:10Speaker 3: take like a com rex one day, do the show
- 22:13Speaker 3: from over there, because, by god, I bet we could.
- 22:17Speaker 3: I want to see Falcony, I bet we could. I
- 22:19Speaker 3: want to see inside run. I want to see the
- 22:23Speaker 3: inside run drill nine on seven because that to me,
- 22:28Speaker 3: because of the offensive line, the defensive line, and the
- 22:32Speaker 3: running backs and also the tight ends. Think about what
- 22:36Speaker 3: you can learn about LSU if you just go watch
- 22:39Speaker 3: a nine on seven period and like for those.
- 22:42Speaker 5: Listening nine seven periods, Yeah, I'm just wondering, do they
- 22:48Speaker 5: run the personnel enough that personnel know they have like
- 22:52Speaker 5: a run period?
- 22:54Speaker 3: Yeah, everybody, So everybody still has nine on seven yeah,
- 22:57Speaker 3: inside run seven yeah, or the defense is going to
- 23:00Speaker 3: be you know, a little bit of an advantage. So
- 23:02Speaker 3: if you can run a nine on seven, there's nine
- 23:05Speaker 3: against seven, that's hence the name.
- 23:07Speaker 2: You can do it anywhere.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Like safeties in nine on seven are like it's six yards,
- 23:12Speaker 3: you know, because they're like there's no threat of his pass.
- 23:14Speaker 5: I mean you practice is supposed to be harder than
- 23:17Speaker 5: the game, and nine on seven is one of the
- 23:18Speaker 5: main definitions of that because it's nine on seven and
- 23:22Speaker 5: so it's a running.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Period, runningdrill. You can't throw it. Everybody knows. I want
- 23:27Speaker 2: to see that.
- 23:29Speaker 3: I want to see I want to see the physicality
- 23:31Speaker 3: with the offensive line. I want to see who it
- 23:33Speaker 3: is left or right. I want to see the tight
- 23:36Speaker 3: end position as well. Okay, because you brought in two
- 23:40Speaker 3: new tight ends. Trade as Green is going to be
- 23:42Speaker 3: an f but like he's going to have to do
- 23:43Speaker 3: some why things. He's going to be an inline blocker
- 23:46Speaker 3: sometimes because if he's not, your fall into tendencies Like
- 23:49Speaker 3: Cayden Durham's fully healthy, like he had a foot injury,
- 23:53Speaker 3: toe injury, basically the entire back half of last year.
- 23:57Speaker 2: It was still really good.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Like he's still like think about like some of the
- 24:01Speaker 3: games that he made some hey in like South Carolina game,
- 24:03Speaker 3: he probably won you the game as a true freshman.
- 24:06Speaker 3: I want to see the young running backs, but like
- 24:08Speaker 3: if I could pick one drill to.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Tell me a lot of what I need to know about.
- 24:12Speaker 3: LSU, I think that is the perfect one because every
- 24:16Speaker 3: kind of question Mark would be involved.
- 24:18Speaker 2: In that position. That's to watch too.
- 24:20Speaker 5: Think he's involved, but there's no like, you're not going
- 24:23Speaker 5: to offense is never going to look great in that period.
- 24:27Speaker 5: You're never gonna like break a huge run or anything.
- 24:30Speaker 2: But if you do. And the quarterbacks these days, you know,
- 24:34Speaker 2: this is.
- 24:34Speaker 5: A you're ready for a back in my day type
- 24:37Speaker 5: speech here. They will never understand the hardships that quarterbacks faced.
- 24:41Speaker 2: In nine on seven.
- 24:42Speaker 5: They will never understand what hardships when you and you
- 24:47Speaker 5: get up there and you're underneath the center and you're
- 24:51Speaker 5: calling a snap count, trying to take a snap from
- 24:54Speaker 5: a center in nine on seven who is usually getting
- 24:59Speaker 5: away lower than he usually would and firing off the
- 25:02Speaker 5: ball faster than he normally would because the defensive line
- 25:07Speaker 5: is firing off faster because they know it's a run.
- 25:09Speaker 5: There's no threat of pass, the centers like lose their mind.
- 25:13Speaker 5: And then not to mention, like, you rotate a lot
- 25:15Speaker 5: of people, so you always get like the second backup
- 25:19Speaker 5: center who's like the right tackle or the guard. So
- 25:22Speaker 5: and then if you fumble a snap in nine on seven,
- 25:24Speaker 5: you'll just look dumb and the head coach loses their mind.
- 25:29Speaker 5: So I remember going to a nine on seven's probably
- 25:32Speaker 5: the most like nervous of any of the drills that
- 25:34Speaker 5: we did in practice. Not nervous might not be the
- 25:37Speaker 5: right word, but the dread of like, oh gosh, I
- 25:40Speaker 5: gotta like take the sentence, like I gotta take the
- 25:42Speaker 5: snaps from these guys.
- 25:44Speaker 2: They're going to be so low.
- 25:45Speaker 5: These defensive tackles are gonna like hit them like as
- 25:48Speaker 5: they're snaping the ball.
- 25:50Speaker 2: So that's pretty tough on his quarterbacks.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I feel so sorry for y'all. How
- 25:54Speaker 3: did y'all ever, how did y'all ever get through that then.
- 25:57Speaker 5: But the quarterbacks these days, guess what, they don't get
- 26:00Speaker 5: it because of.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Nine on seven.
- 26:05Speaker 5: There is let me tell you something, Oh don't you
- 26:08Speaker 5: dare go heart count hard like in nine on seven.
- 26:11Speaker 5: It's on one. It is on one if you quick,
- 26:14Speaker 5: If you quick count them, defensive coaches lose their mind
- 26:17Speaker 5: if you hard town them.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Everybody jumps off sides. Everybody's losing their mind. How many
- 26:21Speaker 2: times did you hear Jimbo Fisher?
- 26:23Speaker 3: Hey, Hey, I'm sorry, Bo, Hey, we'll tell Auburn not
- 26:26Speaker 3: to go on too all right, sorry, but we'll tell
- 26:29Speaker 3: Auburn this way.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Hey not, hey, don't go on to Bo's not ready
- 26:31Speaker 2: for it. And then just yep, yeaping ready to throw down.
- 26:37Speaker 3: I used to love watching those two go at it,
- 26:38Speaker 3: and they loved each other like they hung out like
- 26:43Speaker 3: on the road and stuff like they go have a cold,
- 26:44Speaker 3: like those two who have a cold. Pop yep, but
- 26:46Speaker 3: dere in practice.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Sorry, we'll tell Auburn not to go on to this.
- 26:52Speaker 5: Week bow and then he picks his ear with us
- 26:54Speaker 5: fist pencil eraser.
- 26:57Speaker 2: What are you doing?
- 26:58Speaker 3: Shout out to Jimbo though he actually just got a
- 27:00Speaker 3: spot on tv ACC Network shout out.
- 27:03Speaker 5: That was me in the NFL, Like once I got
- 27:05Speaker 5: vested to the defensive coordinators and scout team and stuff.
- 27:08Speaker 5: When I'd run it like, I would go hard, count
- 27:10Speaker 5: all the time, I'd audible. I would throw it to
- 27:13Speaker 5: the to the last person they had. They want to
- 27:16Speaker 5: be a throw to. Oh my bad, I didn't know
- 27:19Speaker 5: Ben Roethlisberger wouldn't go on to know.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Oh you would have been Roethlisberger to throw in the
- 27:24Speaker 2: comfort too. No, dude, I'm good. Oh you didn't like
- 27:29Speaker 2: I would. I would change the protection too. I would
- 27:31Speaker 2: slide it out to the nick stuff. They don't do that.
- 27:34Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, they're NFL.
- 27:36Speaker 3: See, I'm so glad, Like I don't know, we're gonna
- 27:39Speaker 3: get a brave We got chep Waite nose.
- 27:41Speaker 2: Norm was so good. North Turner like he wouldn't do that.
- 27:45Speaker 3: And if we had to repeat a play like more
- 27:47Speaker 3: than twice, he's get it out. He's like, you think, hey,
- 27:51Speaker 3: you know what, I bet you. Oakland's not going to
- 27:53Speaker 3: allow us to repeat the play on Sunday. So if
- 27:56Speaker 3: we're repeating it on practice time, that need to get
- 27:59Speaker 3: it out, get it.
- 28:00Speaker 5: Out, well, Oakland might have that's true, but other things
- 28:08Speaker 5: the Broncos didn't Kansas City.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Not Oakland, Oakland. You won't do it again. Okay, we
- 28:13Speaker 2: do or do not have a pulse? Yes? I do electric.
- 28:16Speaker 2: All right, we'll take a break.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Russell Shephard, former l s U longtime NFL VET, joins
- 28:21Speaker 3: us to talk tigers.
- 28:22Speaker 2: When we come back on one of four five ESPN betteris.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 28:28Speaker 3: It is always a great time to go for dose.
- 28:31Speaker 3: It is the perfect tailgating beer and mile my tailgating.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Let's see.
- 28:36Speaker 3: I mean we are like it's like a month, like
- 28:39Speaker 3: four weeks away from you.
- 28:41Speaker 5: Getting preseason to tailgate. Probably in a couple of weeks,
- 28:46Speaker 5: that's true. Yeah, you could get those dough secuies ready.
- 28:49Speaker 2: I mean.
- 28:52Speaker 5: Preseason tailgates a vibe because it's like the first tailgate.
- 28:57Speaker 2: What your you. It's true.
- 29:00Speaker 3: And if you're gonna practice tailgating, go ahead and do
- 29:02Speaker 3: it with the best, and that is Doseki. So drink responsibly,
- 29:05Speaker 3: enjoyed during the tailgate, enjoyed anytime because it's always a
- 29:09Speaker 3: good time to go for dose.
- 29:10Speaker 5: Speaking of practicing, you can practice deleting beers anytime, any day, anytime,
- 29:16Speaker 5: whatever it is, go for dose. And if you're gonna
- 29:18Speaker 5: do it, drink responsible of course, but gets you a

- 29:38Speaker 1: Locked in on l s U Football twenty four to seven,
- 29:41Speaker 1: you're listening to Off the Bench.
- 29:51Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in OTV one O four five
- 29:54Speaker 3: ESPN Baton Rouge, Jake Flynn, a linger tat all here
- 30:00Speaker 3: you and now we're going to be joined by a
- 30:01Speaker 3: former LSU longtime NFL receiver.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Russell Shephard joins the show. Shep, what is up, my man?
- 30:07Speaker 2: How you doing?
- 30:08Speaker 10: What's going on? Brotherand thanks for having me on.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Excited to have you on.
- 30:12Speaker 3: And today is actually reporting day for the LSU Tigers.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Now we know NFL teams have already reported to training camp,
- 30:19Speaker 3: and so you know, Flynn and I have talked about
- 30:22Speaker 3: it like that reporting day. You know, depending on where
- 30:24Speaker 3: you're at in your career, you got a different feel
- 30:27Speaker 3: Like when I say reporting day to Russell Shephard, what
- 30:30Speaker 3: do you.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Think of.
- 30:33Speaker 10: Butterflies? You know just kind of you know, full of energy.
- 30:38Speaker 10: You know it's coming off just a good amount of
- 30:40Speaker 10: time with the family, kind of working working my skills.
- 30:44Speaker 10: You know, you know, the off season is a kind
- 30:47Speaker 10: of a just kind of get your juices back going,
- 30:50Speaker 10: you know, fall back in love with just the grind.
- 30:52Speaker 10: And so when you get to that first day of
- 30:54Speaker 10: training camp for reporting day, you know you kind of like,
- 30:58Speaker 10: you know, the build up.
- 31:01Speaker 3: One of the things that we were talking about is
- 31:03Speaker 3: like you know, different times in different years and when
- 31:06Speaker 3: you're reporting, Like for you, like once you get to
- 31:08Speaker 3: the NFL, right, and I mean you had a hell
- 31:11Speaker 3: of a career, you lasted a very long time. What
- 31:13Speaker 3: was that first one like for you? Because Jeff, like
- 31:15Speaker 3: you knew what kind of player you were and you
- 31:18Speaker 3: were going in undrafted free agent type guy, Like what
- 31:20Speaker 3: was your mindset going into that training camp maybe compared
- 31:23Speaker 3: to year four or five in the NFL.
- 31:26Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah. So look so with me, like every every
- 31:29Speaker 10: player has that different journey and it's a unique journey.
- 31:32Speaker 10: All of them are worth it that earned. So with me,
- 31:36Speaker 10: I was an undrafted free agent to Philly. I was
- 31:40Speaker 10: the first you know drafted and undrafted class time that
- 31:44Speaker 10: Chip Kelly, So you know, we you know I didn't
- 31:47Speaker 10: have I had a relationship with coach Kelly coming out
- 31:49Speaker 10: of high school. He recruited me. I still ended up,
- 31:52Speaker 10: you know, going to LSU. So when he was in
- 31:55Speaker 10: a head coach position with Philly, it made perfect sense
- 31:57Speaker 10: for me to go there off of the relationships. So
- 32:00Speaker 10: had a great training camp. I was able to play
- 32:03Speaker 10: with my all time favorite player, Michael Vick. He was
- 32:05Speaker 10: a quarterback at that point in time with the organization.
- 32:09Speaker 10: But we were stacked, man. We had Sean Jackson, Jason Levon,
- 32:13Speaker 10: Jeremy Macklin, Roley Cooper, the list goes on. It was
- 32:18Speaker 10: deep room. So I end up, you know, getting waves
- 32:22Speaker 10: with final cuts. I made it all the way to
- 32:24Speaker 10: the final cut. The last preach is the game. I
- 32:27Speaker 10: got waves and the next pave. You know, every NFL
- 32:31Speaker 10: team had twenty four hours to pick up your rights.
- 32:35Speaker 10: So with me, you know, not really knowing kind of
- 32:38Speaker 10: you know, if I was gonna end up somewhere at
- 32:40Speaker 10: that point, I didn't have an agent, so I was
- 32:42Speaker 10: just kind of a little little since sleep that night,
- 32:45Speaker 10: not knowing my future. So I get a call from
- 32:49Speaker 10: Tommy Mossick. This actually the first time I ever told
- 32:52Speaker 10: the story. So Coach Mossy called me about nine thirty
- 32:55Speaker 10: that night. I actually just got off the phone with
- 32:57Speaker 10: Hollie Roseman, the GM for the Philadelphia Eagles, and you know,
- 33:02Speaker 10: Howie told me, you know, Russell, unfortunately, Man, we had
- 33:05Speaker 10: to release you, but we want to bring in the
- 33:08Speaker 10: practice squad if possible. I said, well, Howie, what do
- 33:12Speaker 10: you mean possible. He's like, well, somebody picks you up,
- 33:15Speaker 10: then you know you have to go with that team,
- 33:18Speaker 10: you know. But you know, I said, well, what's the
- 33:21Speaker 10: chances you think of me getting claimed Howie on the
- 33:23Speaker 10: scale of one to ten. And you know, Howie's a
- 33:26Speaker 10: good friend of mine. He gave me opportunity. You know,
- 33:29Speaker 10: no shade towards him or that made an organization, the Eagles,
- 33:32Speaker 10: but he told me I had a three out of ten.
- 33:35Speaker 10: So that was kind of it kind of kicked me
- 33:37Speaker 10: in the you know, the coach you know, when he
- 33:39Speaker 10: told me that. And so when I got off the
- 33:41Speaker 10: phone with Howie, just randomly, I get a call from
- 33:44Speaker 10: Tommy Mossick, and coach Mafick told me, hey, Bush Davis,
- 33:48Speaker 10: who was the former head coach at University of North Carolina.
- 33:52Speaker 10: He's a special associate assistant to Breg Ciano and they
- 33:58Speaker 10: called asking about your chef. So I know I heard
- 34:01Speaker 10: you got waved with Philly, but I just want to
- 34:03Speaker 10: let you know they called action about you. And I
- 34:07Speaker 10: woke up that morning. I went in to sign my
- 34:10Speaker 10: contract with the Philadelphia Eagles to be on the practice squad,
- 34:14Speaker 10: and Howie Roseman had to pull He pulled me to
- 34:17Speaker 10: the side and say, ship, unfortunately, man, you can't sign
- 34:20Speaker 10: this contract. You've just been claimed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
- 34:25Speaker 10: And yeah, it just it just all just clicked. So
- 34:29Speaker 10: I went into training. You know, obviously my training camp experience,
- 34:32Speaker 10: I had a great camp, had a great relationship with
- 34:34Speaker 10: coach Kelly, but obviously through other relationships, you know, Coach Mossick,
- 34:40Speaker 10: you know, speaking highly of me when they they when
- 34:43Speaker 10: Tampa calls me playing against Bush days in North Carolina,
- 34:46Speaker 10: having a great game, and you know, three years prior,
- 34:49Speaker 10: you know, all these things led to me ultimately getting
- 34:52Speaker 10: claimed and being with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
- 34:55Speaker 5: For your straight It's such a cool story because you
- 35:00Speaker 5: were the epitome of like do everything the right way,
- 35:04Speaker 5: do with the right attitude. Like I used to love
- 35:06Speaker 5: when I was playing coming back in the off season
- 35:08Speaker 5: and I work it out with you, played throwing with you,
- 35:12Speaker 5: running routes, all that good stuff.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Man, we had some good times back in the day.
- 35:15Speaker 5: But like football is such a small world and college
- 35:18Speaker 5: NFL is so interconnected. So so like you, certainly, I
- 35:22Speaker 5: think all LSU fans would agree and Hesse certainly like
- 35:25Speaker 5: you were not used correctly when you were here at LSU.
- 35:28Speaker 5: And but you made a name for yourself in the
- 35:30Speaker 5: NFL for a long time because you did the right
- 35:32Speaker 5: things and that story like highlights that because you had
- 35:36Speaker 5: somebody from college all on your behalf and vouch for you,
- 35:41Speaker 5: and that's.
- 35:41Speaker 2: The way these things work.
- 35:42Speaker 5: But then you get to Tampa and you have a
- 35:45Speaker 5: really good I think four years in Tampa, is that right?
- 35:50Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, yeah, man, it was a great opportunity. You know.
- 35:53Speaker 10: The thing about so people that have different opinions about Coachiano,
- 35:58Speaker 10: but he's very easy how he's very intelligent.
- 36:02Speaker 5: You know.
- 36:02Speaker 10: He obviously is a very you know, strong armed, you know, leader,
- 36:06Speaker 10: and he has a notary background, and I think people
- 36:10Speaker 10: like him, you know, whether Nick say, Ben Greg Ciano,
- 36:15Speaker 10: Chip Kelly, you know, you have some guys that are
- 36:17Speaker 10: wired more social college and I think that was his
- 36:20Speaker 10: you know, his ultimate thing. But I learned a lot
- 36:23Speaker 10: from him, and I kind of got introduced to special teams,
- 36:26Speaker 10: you know, you know when I the funny thing, Matt.
- 36:31Speaker 10: So when I got to Tampa, the next morning, I practice,
- 36:36Speaker 10: but that morning, not knowing the playbook and still getting
- 36:39Speaker 10: you know, just first day at work, I didn't they
- 36:42Speaker 10: didn't have me do any reps. So immediately right after practice,
- 36:47Speaker 10: it was me and another guy that they claimed. I
- 36:51Speaker 10: forget the young man's name, but he's a d D.
- 36:53Speaker 10: So right after practice they pulled me in this young
- 36:57Speaker 10: man and say, hey, Rush, we want you guys to
- 36:59Speaker 10: do some one on one. And this is after I
- 37:02Speaker 10: got claimed. So you know, typically when you when you
- 37:07Speaker 10: get claimed, you have to be on the NFL team
- 37:10Speaker 10: for three weeks straight. They have to pay you at
- 37:13Speaker 10: least you don't have to be on the team, but
- 37:14Speaker 10: they have to pay you that. You know that the
- 37:17Speaker 10: money from the three games. So you know, I thought
- 37:19Speaker 10: I was on the team. Everything's where I got at
- 37:21Speaker 10: least three weeks to show myself. So literally after practice,
- 37:25Speaker 10: me and this the dB we do fifteen straight one
- 37:29Speaker 10: on one before but before we even started, they had
- 37:37Speaker 10: half of the post out, the in house shouts. They
- 37:40Speaker 10: were on the sideline as well as the GM Gregg Cheano.
- 37:44Speaker 10: They were all there watching us do one on one
- 37:48Speaker 10: and man, ultimately I end up you know, you know,
- 37:51Speaker 10: competing and I feel like I won the battle overall.
- 37:54Speaker 10: Literally after that practice, they end up waiving a young man.
- 37:59Speaker 10: They brought me in and they told me, hey, Russ,
- 38:02Speaker 10: you know both you guys play special teams at a
- 38:04Speaker 10: high level. We claimed you guys because we both you know,
- 38:07Speaker 10: we wanted a guy that can contribute the team, and
- 38:10Speaker 10: then we wanted the guy that had the potential to
- 38:12Speaker 10: grow into a dependable receiver and ultimately that that one
- 38:17Speaker 10: on one sets since is the reason why we kept you.
- 38:19Speaker 10: So you know, it's just like you said, relationships is
- 38:23Speaker 10: taking advantage of the moment. It's providing the right energy,
- 38:26Speaker 10: being a guy that can learn on the move, or
- 38:29Speaker 10: just all that places to have in the longevity in
- 38:32Speaker 10: the NFL.
- 38:35Speaker 3: I never I honestly, I don't know that I've ever
- 38:37Speaker 3: heard of like going like one on one, Like I've
- 38:40Speaker 3: seen guys try out and have competition.
- 38:42Speaker 2: That's a great stort.
- 38:43Speaker 5: I mean, CHP, especially after signed right, like yeah, you
- 38:46Speaker 5: go and do your workouts trying to get signed.
- 38:48Speaker 2: But yeah, you're right, like you.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Already signed your claim and Chef like think about like
- 38:52Speaker 3: what that did, like that one twenty minute period, Like
- 38:56Speaker 3: what that did for your life, and like you know,
- 38:58Speaker 3: it could go in one way or another, it certainly
- 39:01Speaker 3: went your way and you earn that spot there, but
- 39:03Speaker 3: just do you think about like what that moment meant
- 39:06Speaker 3: for your life and like where you're at now successful
- 39:08Speaker 3: businessman and all the things you're doing.
- 39:11Speaker 10: Oh man, it's everything, man, you know, it just kind
- 39:13Speaker 10: of gave me a true understanding of just capturing the moment,
- 39:18Speaker 10: you know, just being grateful for the opportunity, you know,
- 39:21Speaker 10: to see the glass half full not empty. All these
- 39:23Speaker 10: things just leading to having a positive mindset, just preparing
- 39:28Speaker 10: and joining the process. I mean that's kind of led
- 39:31Speaker 10: me into entrepreneurship because while I was in the league,
- 39:34Speaker 10: like you two guys who were both mentors and just
- 39:36Speaker 10: you know, leaders to guys like me, time at you
- 39:39Speaker 10: the Jordan Jeffersons of the world. Like you know, it's
- 39:42Speaker 10: all about being present, having your seat grounded, and making
- 39:46Speaker 10: the impact what you're at. And then, like I said
- 39:48Speaker 10: in Breaking you know, the competition. One thing about an
- 39:51Speaker 10: LSU player in the NFL, whether it's Jason Light from
- 39:55Speaker 10: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is Howie Roseman. Whomever you're talking
- 39:59Speaker 10: to LSU players, they come to get us because we
- 40:03Speaker 10: compete at a high level and we got a little
- 40:05Speaker 10: sucking to us. So, you know, that was one thing
- 40:08Speaker 10: that was grateful for, you know, being in that rum
- 40:11Speaker 10: being a part of, you know, the program, is that
- 40:14Speaker 10: we had a little edginess to us, but also too
- 40:17Speaker 10: we were great, you know, great, just great young men.
- 40:19Speaker 10: So it's a special thing being a part of, you know,
- 40:22Speaker 10: that purpolement goal.
- 40:24Speaker 5: And kind of to that note, let's pick your brain
- 40:26Speaker 5: a little bit about the twenty twenty five unless you Tigers.
- 40:29Speaker 5: Have you been keeping up whether you follow it? What
- 40:32Speaker 5: are your thoughts going into the season with just the
- 40:35Speaker 5: weapons at receiver, the weapons at quarterback and everything.
- 40:39Speaker 2: What's your what's you're outlook on it?
- 40:42Speaker 10: Man? So you know, I spend a lot of time
- 40:43Speaker 10: at the school now with us doing business you know
- 40:46Speaker 10: out there, So you know, I spent a lot of
- 40:49Speaker 10: time around a lot of young guys.
- 40:50Speaker 6: Man.
- 40:51Speaker 10: Most I've been around the school really since I've been
- 40:53Speaker 10: in school, and you know, I will say this is
- 40:56Speaker 10: the closest team that I've seen since that twenty nineteen
- 41:00Speaker 10: twenty team, the national championship team. I think, you know,
- 41:04Speaker 10: I hate a QB man. I think he has a
- 41:08Speaker 10: good grasp of the team. I think they they follow him.
- 41:12Speaker 10: I think he leaves. He kind of reminds me of you,
- 41:14Speaker 10: Matt Very. He leads from the front quite you know,
- 41:17Speaker 10: it doesn't say too much, peaks upone needed, you know.
- 41:21Speaker 10: I just you know, at the end of the day,
- 41:24Speaker 10: this game that revolves so much around you know, distributing
- 41:27Speaker 10: the football, so the quarterback position is just turned too
- 41:30Speaker 10: such just you know, part of you know, wins and losses.
- 41:34Speaker 10: So I definitely think it starts with with with our guy.
- 41:38Speaker 10: I think he's in the right position to lead and
- 41:40Speaker 10: kind of take us to where we need to go.
- 41:42Speaker 10: And I think from the offensive line to all the
- 41:44Speaker 10: skill guys, you know, the young guys on defense. I
- 41:48Speaker 10: just think, you know, coach has he kin't got a good,
- 41:51Speaker 10: you know, opportunity man to capture, but I think it's
- 41:54Speaker 10: a great opportunity to take the crown.
- 41:58Speaker 3: Yeah, before we let you go, man, I'm so proud
- 42:00Speaker 3: of like everything you've done post playing as well and
- 42:03Speaker 3: doing big things.
- 42:04Speaker 2: And I know you mentioned being an entrepreneur there.
- 42:07Speaker 3: Tell us a little bit and tell our listeners about
- 42:09Speaker 3: check Boys Waste Management, what you're doing, where you're doing it,
- 42:12Speaker 3: and kind of all these things you've got going.
- 42:14Speaker 2: On right now.
- 42:16Speaker 10: I appreciate it, brother. So you know, in year twenty twenty,
- 42:20Speaker 10: man I told the time with the Baltimore Raven, I
- 42:23Speaker 10: didn't think we were going to have NFL season COVID.
- 42:26Speaker 10: I was like, hide in the hell, We're going to
- 42:28Speaker 10: drink in the sand, water bottles cowers in the locker room.
- 42:31Speaker 10: But you know, me and my family came together. We
- 42:34Speaker 10: thought we can start this crazy you know I did,
- 42:37Speaker 10: which is a Porter Partty company. So I retired two
- 42:40Speaker 10: days before the season in twenty twenty. Man, I call
- 42:43Speaker 10: coach Hardball and I told him I was gonna retire.
- 42:45Speaker 10: He's like, shut what the hell about to start training counting.
- 42:49Speaker 10: I was like, I'm about about to hop in the
- 42:50Speaker 10: Porter Partty truck. And you know, he thought I was
- 42:53Speaker 10: pretty I was crazy, but man, we started shop Boys
- 42:57Speaker 10: Waste Management in twenty and twenty at the height of COVID,
- 43:01Speaker 10: and we are in Central a Portable Toilet Company. We
- 43:05Speaker 10: provide portable toilet rent wastewater rentals from portable toilet, hand
- 43:10Speaker 10: wash stations, waste tanks, water tanks. At this point we

- 43:43Speaker 3: He is Russell Shephard good enough to join us, shep.
