- 2:22You might be watching me on an Instagram story even right this second.
- 2:24But we are back for the hurts, say the finale of season one of
- 2:34X Men ninety seveer seven seven seven. It hurts, but it feels so
- 2:42good if oh true, indeed true, indeed stuck the land and my nigga
- 2:46like ah tens from the judges. You know what I mean? They did
- 2:51their Simone Biles, they did there we go, Thank you. I was
- 2:53thinking of a gymnast and you got it for me. Yes, yes,
- 2:57tens from the judges. Even Russia had to give it up across the board,
- 3:04you know, Russia always behaving nine point two eight point nine, nigga
- 3:09fuck out here, no tens across the board, you know. I I
- 3:19don't really think I have complaints. Fam. I was telling a friend of
- 3:23mine, shout out to my brother, DJ Analyze. I was talking to
- 3:25him last week and DJ Analyzed is as his name says, DJ Analyze,
- 3:30very analytical brother. And he's always telling me that I over hype certain things,
- 3:35right like I told him, and Or is the best thing Star Wars
- 3:38has probably done since Empire strikes Back, you know. And he's like,
- 3:43what you talk about? He stiesn't watch it. So I'm like, well,
- 3:45you know, you just don't know. I was like, not to
- 3:50over hype X Men ninety seven, but I fully believe at this point it
- 3:54is the best representation of X Men ever done besides the comic books. Like
- 4:00I really enjoyed Logan, I really enjoyed a lot of those X Men films.
- 4:04I'm not a hater of the X Men and the Black Leather. I
- 4:09thought that was dope for its time. We talked about that with the earth
- 4:11Tone King. Shout out to that brother who had a lot of you know,
- 4:15as always, anyone who joins us on this show is an expert to
- 4:20you. Yes, salutes the earth Tone who called a lot of things in
- 4:25this episode. You know, So anyone we bring around here is on an
- 4:28expert Earth turns just yet another one. Shout out to the brother for joining
- 4:31us. But yeah, I really do believe this is the best thing other
- 4:36than the comic books. And I think it's so good because it's so true
- 4:41to the comic books, and it will get more people into the comics,
- 4:44I believe personally than any of the movies have done up to this point.
- 4:47It's so true to the comic books while at the same time telling a different
- 4:50story, telling a different perspective, and doing Hey, by the way,
- 5:00rule who we put up we put We put up that clip about we don't
- 5:03think canon being that required or important, and Guru said, I disagree.
- 5:09Yeah, all right, young Guru. Specifically, he said, I disagree.
- 5:12I gotta talk to y'all about it. We said, come through so
- 5:15yes, he said he will be on the show. But yes, the
- 5:18fact that you have all of these different the multiverse of stories, if you
- 5:23will, and they have, as earth Tone explained, they've masterfully crafted this
- 5:29cohesive. There's many different storylines that still have been addressed in a cohesive manner,
- 5:34that has been completed in a beautiful manner. And it gives you,
- 5:40to your point, Ben, it gives you a sense of accomplishment, like,
- 5:45damn, y'all really did that? Like this is this is I gotta
- 5:49say, I think this is by far the best showing of X Men throughout
- 5:54the few last few years, like the regardless of what we're talking about live
- 5:58action otherwise, this is probably for me, this is the best showing,
- 6:00best storytelling when it comes to the X Men. Yeah, I mean,
- 6:04I don't want to say last few years. I'm I say. Ever other
- 6:06than OG, no, other than the comic books and OG and OG and
- 6:13the OG animated series. OG Animated series was you know, paved away for
- 6:16this, they're standing on the shoulders of giant Okay, because as if I
- 6:19said, when I went back and watched the OG and a shout out to
- 6:23doctor Drea, another one of our illustrious guests, because when I was distrusting
- 6:28them with her, I didn't even seen all of it. So I was
- 6:30like, oh, some of that stuff was corny, and some of it
- 6:30is because it's still a kids show and was operating under the pretensions of being
- 6:34a Fox Afternoon's kids show. And also, like you pointed out, Tade
- 6:39and other people pointed out, and I went and did the research on this,
- 6:42it did air out of order once, like they got past the first
- 6:46Phoenix saga, because episodes were being completed out of order, the network was
- 6:54getting them out of order. It was all kind of chaos. So this
- 6:58for people watching it that, I'm sure it was hella confusing what was going
- 7:01on. I was watching. I believe it now because because I remember that
- 7:09first season people like one time of Jump, they was just doing regularship.
- 7:14They cable popped out and I'm like, whoa. And then they would have
- 7:16episodes where they would be time travling wild shit too. So if you weren't
- 7:19watching an order, I can't imagine how difficult that must have been. So
- 7:26but they were still standing on the shoulders of giants because they were doing all
- 7:29kinds of ridiculous retellings of the stories, just like they're doing now, compressing
- 7:33stories, doing their whole new cannon with the stories, and all of Bow
- 7:39and the rest of the team are heavily reliant on what they've done. Shout
- 7:44out to Chase Crownley. I want to give a big shout out to him,
- 7:46because Bo was doing his point. And I really want to take this
- 7:49second too, because one slight not issue I had, but when Bo started
- 7:56talking a lot, I felt like a lot of people were heaping all the
- 7:59praise on this and not the rest of the team. But this week Bo
- 8:03made a point to be like, yo, make sure you'll watch the end
- 8:05credits. Look at all these people working on this show, and he made
- 8:07a boy. They made a point to shout out Chase Comedy, the head
- 8:11director on the show, and all the other directors on the show, and
- 8:13talked about specifically how Chasing Bo were collaborator collaborators on this how Chase even came
- 8:20up with lines for the script. They on the phone talking and he was
- 8:24like, bet that's in the script, yep. And so that type of
- 8:26stuff really shows how this industry works. And I'm happy that Bo is really
- 8:31shining a light on that because people often don't understand what a collaborator process it
- 8:37is to make a television show and how so many people contribute to it.
- 8:41But at the same time, how much fucking work a showrunner does, especially
- 8:48a good showrunner, you know, and Bo seems to be by all counts
- 8:52of a very great showrunner, you know, at least in terms of delivering
- 8:56a fantastic show, you know, being hard to work with the people person
- 9:01might be other things, who knows. I have no idea, that's all
- 9:03whatever, you know, I don't know, But at least in terms of
- 9:05delivering that show that they were asked to do, you know, they did
- 9:09a fantastic job, as we can see in Everyone Man, Chase Conley.
- 9:15I'm watching shots this episode of like fuck like the action the road comes through
- 9:20with the damnit name remember it? And I know we're gonna mention this later
- 9:26too, but Scott summons that that that Nigga's fighting scenes heads and then someone
- 9:33else on Twitter pointed this out, like, and I agree because I was.
- 9:37I was drawn to those images they showed up stills of like the negative
- 9:41like the negative not image, but negative exposure of like you know, like
- 9:48where they invert where the colors are inverted on a subject, so a negative
- 9:52exposure image of like Scott when he was doing Laser Beam and there was one
- 9:56a Jubilee when she was doing doing her sparkles, and there was some other
- 10:00personal and it just looks so good like that when we talk about the attention
- 10:03of detail, when we talk about the level of art, when we talk
- 10:07about the level of care, and that's what I the point. Another point
- 10:09I was gonna make that I forgot, which was the fact that the integration
- 10:15of Bow and the rest of the team's lived experiences as queer people of colors,
- 10:22as people pripy with color in this country, and then the integration of
- 10:26like of mass tragedies like nine to eleven, like Polset Nightclub and all this
- 10:31other stuff, and how so much reflection is so much parallel story that you
- 10:37can get from what the X Men have already gone through and are going through.
- 10:43And also the allegory that that that the X Men stands for, like
- 10:46it's it's just so beautiful. It's the whole thing is incredible. And I
- 10:50know, as mentioned, we keep saying, oh they get ten wards.
- 10:52No, literally everything I've ever seen online in the last twenty four hours.
- 10:56Everything is like ten ten ten ten insane. I mean, it's like I
- 11:05said when I was talking to my man analyzed, I was, you know,
- 11:07I'm just like dog, I really don't want to overhype this. But
- 11:11I said the same thing lest people. I said, if they stick the
- 11:13landing, this is the best thing. And then last night, after I
- 11:18watched episode twice, it text him, you know, yo, you watch
- 11:22this shit get fire emoji. You know. That's all I can say.
- 11:26Because I've watched episode twice. I've now seen the third episode, I mean
- 11:28the final episode three times, and every time I was blown away. Every
- 11:33time I was hooked into the drama and the action and the suspense. Every
- 11:39time this niggabastian pulls my girl up into the sky and looks like Rogue is
- 11:46about to take that l I tendse up like I haven't seen it before,
- 11:50Like I don't know what you've done survived this episode to. You're fantastic to
- 11:54your point about the fact that Chase Conley had obviously had been very hands on
- 11:58it, as has the entire team, not just both. There's a specific
- 12:03line that he's responsible for, and it's probably you actually made to know here
- 12:07as one of their favorites about minds are easier to bend than metal. I
- 12:11mean, they were just having a conversation. He said that's the one and
- 12:13put it in. Also, he talked about how some of the images from
- 12:18the last couple scenes, I mean, episodes with Magneto and Professor X have
- 12:22come direct from the comics and how a lesser director will be like, now
- 12:26I want to do this myself, but Chase was like, nah, hell
- 12:28yeah, that's what I was already thinking, because that's the perfect way to
- 12:31do it. Like the comic has already done it. We just need to
- 12:33animate these scenes. Yeah, And also what the beauty of this because there
- 12:39are and also like they have done what eludes a lot of MCU films,
- 12:46which is trying to introduce especially more obscure villains or more obscure characters characters in
- 12:54general. They could go either way, whether the heroes or villains, but
- 12:56the point is obscure characters and really making them matter and really having them have
- 13:01some type of weight. Like the average person won't know who the fuck Bastion
- 13:05is. Okay, the average person is not, and I mean y'all will
- 13:07soon know who the fuck Apocalypse is you don't know who he is and and
- 13:09so on and so far. What's the other one, the adversary? I
- 13:11didn't know who the fuck the adversary was. Like most that's that's a deep
- 13:16cut, even for es Men fans, you have to like as far as
- 13:20they've shown up since. But they were specifically part of the following meter and
- 13:24storyline like ninety one ninety two, you know what I mean, that's how
- 13:28old, like Jesus Christ before that is long long, you know, like
- 13:35you had to really be, you know, into it to know the adversary.
- 13:39But they made the adversary a viable character. Everyone's like, oh my
- 13:43god, Storm Voice the adversary, I mean the same voice address who voice
- 13:46Storm Voice the adversary. Oh my god, that's so ill, you know
- 13:50everyone. I love Bo's defense of Storm on Twitter because, as always we've
- 13:56talked about this multiple times on the show, there's a lot of you know,
- 14:00black people who are very itching for representation and very deservedly so. And
- 14:05so when a character like Storm is pretty much one of the major other than
- 14:09sun Spot, who you know, we all worried about black representations. People
- 14:16want to see them do so much more even No. My boy, another
- 14:20one of my brothers, had a dam and he listens to shows. Well,
- 14:22he was like, Yo, I wanted to see Storm do way more,
- 14:24you know, way more Storm shit. Not just the emotional shit,
- 14:30but the storm shit. You know, she wants to you know, they
- 14:31want to see the big clouds, the big ice, all that. But
- 14:35I feel like Storm had those moments throughout this season. She's had that moment
- 14:39even to the end, She's had these moments and also whole episodes attributed just
- 14:46to her and her journey. I mean, she had a whole fucking journey.
- 14:48And my thing is, you're gonna see more Storm. This this series
- 14:52has done more for Storm than all of the movies combined. And I think
- 14:56that's just that thing when people get this, you know they want more.
- 15:00It's like me right now, like I famously once said this on the show,
- 15:03shout out to Julian Eli and Martinez. When Wu Tang uh an American
- 15:09saga with that drama series about Wu Tang was on Hulu, I was like,
- 15:13I wish Wu Tang could be on all the time. And that's how
- 15:15I feel about That's been ninety seven right now, Like I wish that's man
- 15:18ninety seven could be on all the time, you know, just an episode
- 15:22a week, that's all I asked for. Whatever. Well, you know
- 15:24we're getting season two and three, that's already confirmed. Now the question that
- 15:28I haven't and again, hopefully Bo, you'll be on the show soon.
- 15:31How like is it part of his to me with a nigga talking to the
- 15:37brick wall and like me trying to get that photo that's creators on the show.
- 15:43I feel like you're listening, Bo, I mean, you've resigned to
- 15:46our tweets. Shout out to Bow and shout out to Chase Tolly, who
- 15:48both you know, personally followed to God. And I've had direct conversation with
- 15:54them, and and then I'm talking to this bad That's fine. They probably
- 16:00like they got away right, But they're busy. They're busy. I get
- 16:03it. You know everybody's you know, sorry, talk about Emmy's you know
- 16:07what I mean, Like Entertainment Tonight calling right now? You know what I
- 16:14mean, like you know for calling and and y'all listening. Everyone else who's
- 16:19listening? You want Bowl on the show. I don't know them even following
- 16:22Entertainment Tonight, but I do know either way, y'all gotta act bowl,
- 16:26y'all gotta act Chase and tell them to come on the show. Please do
- 16:29y'all respectfully, Respectfully. Funny is fine, but it has to still be
- 16:34respectful. But absolutely hit them up, be like hey, yo, we
- 16:37need you on for all. Nurse Tatiana Bank is like that, like you
- 16:41enjoy yourself, all this stuff, all this great, so that y'all know
- 16:44is the case because you have seen the goodness. Let that happen. Now
- 16:48that's been, Let's get into the details of this episode. One last thing.
- 16:52Please don't ask Bow especially to distruss the details of whatever happened. We're
- 16:59not We're not guarantee we're talking about that whatsoever. So yeah, unless they
- 17:02don't, don't even mention that. That's not the point. It'spectful. But
- 17:06ask on to episode ten, Tolerance is Extinction, Part three, the season
- 17:11one finale of X Men ninety seven. Ben, how fucking mean they did
- 17:18that? Shit? They were? Where the fuck do I start? Should
- 17:23I start from the very beginning? Should I start from what was so the
- 17:26most prominent pieces of this episode? And when I say prominent, I mean
- 17:30the prominent themes. Yeah, I think we got to start with Professor and
- 17:34Charles's whole art through this episode, because that, to me, was the
- 17:41crux of this episode, the crux of this season. You know, It's
- 17:45been the crux of the X Men from pretty much their inception. The opening
- 17:51of the show features you know, Charles versus Magneto from back from the originals
- 17:56to now. So when apparently there was like what if I was a mute?
- 18:00And ha ha, well what if I was a mute? You shouldn't.
- 18:03You can't say that, ha ha, you too now and right there,
- 18:08and as people have rightfully pointed out, a lot of this can be
- 18:12taken as very queer coded, you know, and I found that quite interesting
- 18:19and why refreshing. But at the same time, I do have a question
- 18:25for you, ty downa. Is it gay to love your homeboy? And
- 18:30I mean that like seriously, because I've thinking about this, watching this episode
- 18:34and seeing people's reactions to it on you know, the social media's out there,
- 18:38because I and my thoughts on it after I thought about it for a
- 18:41second word, that because heteronormative relationships between men are usually portrayed as loving your
- 18:49homeboy is gay. The idea that a man can love his friend and not
- 18:56have a sexual desire for him might be or not even a sexual desire,
- 19:00but a romantic desire for them might be taken as you know, like that's
- 19:07all. It's like. That's why I was like, is this is this
- 19:10queer coded our Charles and Magnito meant to be two men who you know can't
- 19:15express themselves in the times they're live in. Or is it that's one way
- 19:21to do it. I took it as that's that Nigga's brother, and that's
- 19:23how I took it. No, there's just not gay to love your homeboy.
- 19:26And again I'm saying it like love love love is. You can love
- 19:32someone, but there's levels of love. There are concepts of love, and
- 19:37there are facets of love, and you can have different type of love with
- 19:40different people. You can have familial love like you and me. I have
- 19:45familial love for him. We are we are not related by blood, but
- 19:48you are my brother. Okay. At the end of the day, you
- 19:51can have a love for someone where it does have uh there there's a sexual
- 19:55intimacy there, or there is romantic said some times there's no roman That's another
- 20:00thing. People don't know this. You can have sexual intimacy or have sexu
- 20:03with some might not be romantic with that, and you can have romantic intimacy
- 20:07correct, So there's different combinations thereof but just the idea like if again this
- 20:17is these are all hetero as you mentioned, heteronormative term anology and definitions which
- 20:22get flipped up on his head when you're not looking. When you're looking at
- 20:26this from a queer lens, that's none of that shit means anything, right,
- 20:30So if you're talking about just from if you're straight, and you're like,
- 20:33it's this gay, you mean, does he want to be in a
- 20:36relationship, a sexulation with another man. No, he loves Professor x Xavier
- 20:41loves Madness. That is his brother, that's his brother in arms, that's
- 20:45his family member. No matter how many times Charles betrays him, no matter
- 20:49how many tries times Madness may be trade Charles. At the end of the
- 20:53day, they love each other and they will always have that love for each
- 20:56other. And sometimes it's love hate and some time it's complicated. And I
- 21:02think that led me to another realization or like epiphany I would say, is
- 21:06that like the idea of queerness expands to so many levels because the idea of
- 21:11heteronormative and what's shown normally in media is so strict, and so one way
- 21:17has to be this way. So it's not you know, queerness has such
- 21:22a wide umbrella because of that, and because I don't look at things to
- 21:26me, at least as you know, as a typical you know, straight
- 21:30black and white man. I never have. But you know, I grew
- 21:32up under Prince Man. I'm like, it's different, you know, so
- 21:34I just don't. I don't look at it like that. But at the
- 21:37same time, I do see that Charles and Magneto could you know, under
- 21:42the right cercainmstances, you know, they could you know what I meant,
- 21:52Oh, that ain't Potentially I told you that was doing wild shit. Wolverine
- 21:57would have to agree, and that's the there we go. You know,
- 22:00I'm saying, I still feel like wolf Red has. It's just you know
- 22:03what I mean, it's one of them, your fan We can't we know,
- 22:07no, you know, like they like we said, they might have
- 22:10a central relationship without a romantic relationship right now, and that might be more
- 22:14problems, you know what I mean, because Moover rings down. Look,
- 22:18my man turned into Sable Tooth. If y'all read the comments, y'all not
- 22:23first moment we get both y'all talking about what talk about that? The first
- 22:26one I get bow on the show. That's what I'm asking about, nigga
- 22:30what like? Because bose are fanatic comments like I am, and like me
- 22:34right now being a fanatic of comments. I'm disgusted with sable Tooth. I
- 22:38think he's a monster, you know, like, I think he's one of
- 22:41the worst things ever. And it's monsters, monsters and for this nigga to
- 22:48turn into him and then in this episode turned into Gene Like there is some
- 22:55ship has happened between these two. No move has done some while to no,
- 23:00no, put that on my man. They're both implicit. They're both
- 23:04complicit in this. Yes, made the choices. You can blame Wovering all
- 23:10you want, but Morph made the choices to turn into who he's turning to
- 23:12for reasons, for reasons. And like I say, Wolverine started, Key
- 23:17King ran off with the thing, and and and and and Wolverine's defense in
- 23:22this episode, he was fighting for his life. So yeah, no,
- 23:25no, in this episode, Wolverine's just laying there. Yeah, he talked
- 23:26to the Gene and and that get but he tastes that extra breath, you
- 23:30know what I mean. Not just sitting here so you will find blame on
- 23:34Wolverine for anything. No, I'm just saying it's not blame. I'm saying
- 23:38that you know, he he feels something for morph. He knows that ain't
- 23:42you know, Gene, just like he knows that ain't saving to Wolvering and
- 23:47you know you know this is always morph. Well, well back to Magneto,
- 23:49Professor X. I just felt that this episode is I mean, throughout
- 23:53the series, the season, this episode, that writing being so brilliant and
- 24:00really that interaction. I mentioned the complexity of interaction with a friend of me
- 24:06or the a front of me that you love, or someone where maybe y'all
- 24:10really fuck with each other one year and the next year you can't stand that
- 24:11person, but that you will always be connected with them through space and time
- 24:18and the fact that they're old, right, so they've had years and years
- 24:22and years and years and decades between them and that conversation that they had in
- 24:27Magnus's mind about being hurt about betrayal and the meaning of family, and we
- 24:33talked to and we all I don't know, people recognize that conversation about there's
- 24:37a difference between the family you're born into and your chosen family and the family
- 24:42you end up with and all this other stuff like that conversation was so poignant
- 24:48and to see it, the verbalization of it and the characterization of it,
- 24:55the fact that they're in Magnus's mind and they're surrounded by stormy waters and there
- 25:00are people who are important to manness in his mind. You see Rogue,
- 25:03she's on that little tug boat, the two two outside, you know,
- 25:07and it's rocking, going crazy. Just the fact that also on the sorry
- 25:12also on the tugboat is Quicksilver starting Kicksilver and Polaris his son and daughter and
- 25:18his other daughter his daughter. That was a big moment for me because Polaris's
- 25:23name is also one of the names that blacked out on the sheet. Yeah,
- 25:27that was I was like, thank you both, thank you for all
- 25:30of these deep seated, buried feelings that they're talking through that you live physically
- 25:34see a manifestation of. And it's in as Professor Hax mentioned, you're in
- 25:40the elements and it is consuming the both of them, and Professor that's just
- 25:45trying to talk Magneto down from letting this consume him. And it's a larger
- 25:49conversation just about when it comes to letting your emotions consume you, letting certain
- 25:55traumas consume your mind and your life, and how that affects. At this
- 26:00moment, Magneto is trapped in his mind. His mind can break. It's
- 26:06on the verge, as is Professor X because he's stuck in that bitch too.
- 26:10So to be able for a lot of people. And the reason why
- 26:14I'm pushing this so hard is because the way people learn it could be visual,
- 26:18It could be audio, could be by doing, could be a combination
- 26:21thereof. This show combined all the elements of learning into one long scene about
- 26:27what all these different things mean as mentioned about pain, betrayal, struggle,
- 26:33the meaning of family trauma. They were able to express that in so many
- 26:37different ways that anyone watching could understand, could learn, could relate. And
- 26:44that's why x N ninety seven is so damn brilliant. I mean, yeah,
- 26:52the Niggasa in cold Water is a trauma. What poetry, Timothy that
- 26:57I get told, come on, cannons to these cannons in front of them,
- 27:04cannon's behind them. Come on, man, and then beyond that,
- 27:10Like when you want to talk about great strip writing, you have what you
- 27:14call A and B stories in an episode, And so the A story in
- 27:17this episode is Charles. Well, I'm not even sure which it's talking like
- 27:19A A one, and a yeah, but A one and A two is
- 27:26the battle between Charles and Magneto, and A two is the battle between the
- 27:30Edsmond and Bashian. Right, but both of them mirror each other. They
- 27:33are both about well, once about Magneto and Charles trumming together, and the
- 27:38other is about Cyclops and Bashian coming together and Cyclops coming to terms with you
- 27:42know what he says in this episode that we have to start doing what we've
- 27:47been telling humanity to do all this time, is to embrace the future and
- 27:51stop fighting it, which is the same thing as letting go of your past
- 27:53traumas. You see what I'm fucking saying right here, like you you feel
- 27:57the chills that just take up my spine. I said that ship because that's
- 28:00fucking what you call bars niggas putting the master fled right there. I need
- 28:07that right there, press the bomb, but I need the like that's insane
- 28:15amount of writing Choult out to bowl the team like to say that your past
- 28:19traumas are affecting you and you gotta stop fighting the future. And one scene
- 28:26you're saying that, and then the other scene you're saying this as you're cutting
- 28:29in between them, and you're and what did I say about different ways of
- 28:33expressing a thought. You're showing you're talking about not fighting in the future,
- 28:38and you're showing people fighting the literal future. Sure, And I mean the
- 28:45levels, the levels I feel. I feel like that the candy mean,
- 28:48the candy candy birds mean where she says the lies when it said of the
- 28:52lies, she says the levels like come on, come on. Uh.
- 28:59So that's like the main storyline I wanted. I wanted one last thing because
- 29:03in that Charles and Professor sing, because this is when I wanted to jump
- 29:07out of my seat and start why I damned there almost to jump out of
- 29:10my seat and starts screaming at it is the culmination of it when Charles is
- 29:14telling him his name, and it goes back to what we've talked about before
- 29:18in these episodes. How and this has come up and I've said this before
- 29:22and that's like I said, man, how Bow of you know, the
- 29:27X Men team and Aluing and Hickman and a lot of them are coming,
- 29:32especially ar Ewing. Really it's really arguing with his take on Magneto and also
- 29:36some other writers who of course all the comic writers, but how they all
- 29:38came to the same conclusion. And that's basically Bo just being a super fan
- 29:41of the comics while writing this and knowing the history of Magneto, and this
- 29:45is what Magnitto is. Magneto is a man of many names and many personalities,
- 29:49you know, and he always has to fight and choose between these personalities
- 29:55because the one that he starts with is just a straight up monster. You
- 29:59know, there's no there ain't even really like when Magnito's first introduduces black and
- 30:04white. He's not even the Malcolm Mets analog that we know in Love today.
- 30:08He is just a monster, straight up killing niggas on site. You
- 30:12know, everyone dies. He's just a typical comic book villain. And then
- 30:15later on Chris Plaermont comes and refines him and starts writing the Magnito that we
- 30:19know in Love, where he becomes this nuanced character. He introduces the ideaity
- 30:23he was in the concentration camps, and we see they made sure to note
- 30:27that, you know, when you see we I don't even know he mentioned
- 30:30this on Magnita's arm. You see the tattoos from the concentration camps. Mm,
- 30:36we saw that a few times. And so that's like some real life
- 30:40ship. When I was a kid, actually met a concentration camp survivor and
- 30:42they showed me those tattoos on their arm. That shit was you know,
- 30:47do you have more to say about? Oh yeah, I dude, because
- 30:51this is the main point of this. It's like the Man of many names,
- 30:53right, And when he's telling them his name, that Magnito's first introduction,
- 30:57he says, men call me, you know what I mean, And
- 31:02it's that like, don't fuck around with me. That's who I am.
- 31:04And so when professors is like, you know, we need you wanted it
- 31:08one way, you know, it's like the wires, you want it one
- 31:12way, but it's the other way. You know, we don't need Eric
- 31:15right now, we don't need Magnets right now, we need Magnito. And
- 31:21that's when I fucking almost you know, flip the table meme jump out to
- 31:26see tear the TV off the wall like and then that nigga jumps up and
- 31:30saves the day and does what he needs to do, he said, he
- 31:33said, they used to call me crazy Joe. Now they called me Batman.
- 31:41Put the lots on the door, nigger. Listen, I said,
- 31:51Timothy, I guess earlier I met Raphael. I guess I just want to
- 31:56make that correction. Put the chains on the door, nigga. Mm hmm.
- 32:00Yeah, Like that's when I, yeah, I lost it, Like
- 32:04I mean, I was losing this whole up the time, but losing this
- 32:06whole season, but that was just like, I'm such a Magneto super fan,
- 32:09and that just got him to his core, got Professor to his core.
- 32:15And let's talk about and yeah, let's talk about the other thing that
- 32:17got to his core this episode. Mhmm, my man, Scott's dunness.
- 32:25Wait wait wait, but before we I know, we'll detour. I know
- 32:32we will detour back to Maggie a professor expert before we leave them. I
- 32:37just want to add on to what you're saying about him. What's in the
- 32:39name and the power of your name, and once again going back and and
- 32:45and and this is this is my reach. Okay. I noticed and may
- 32:47not have to do with you're gonna Your name is your name, Your name
- 32:57is your power, Your name is your Lenny is your is your person hood.
- 33:02Okay, whether it's your children's names, you were born with, the
- 33:06name that you, you decided to take on all this other stuff. When
- 33:14Matt Nito says, Oh, I know who you are, and I know
- 33:17who I am. That that that that power and knowing and the ship,
- 33:22the fact that that ship woke him the fuck up. When we talk about
- 33:25levels once again, the levels and that unlocked him once again. It knocked
- 33:34him out of his own mind. And that's just more of what we keep
- 33:36saying about when it comes to knowing thyself, knowing yourself, and knocking yourself
- 33:40out of your own restraints. The same thing happened with Storm this series The
- 33:46Adversary, The Adversary. After the conversation, it was like you was the
- 33:50only you at the at the end of the day, you were holding yourself
- 33:52back. Your powers were never left you. You held yourself down and beyond
- 33:58that. Like both pointed out, her powers aren't the source of her power.
- 34:02Her powers is the source of her self belief in herself. As she
- 34:07then tells Jeane, you know when like Jean's like you'll be killed like sister
- 34:12Nah. You know, it ain't about these powers. It's about that we
- 34:15believe in each other beyond everything. And I know we sound like church right
- 34:19now. I hear the organs in the background. I'm going to And that's
- 34:23the thing. It's like you weren't making to reach it all on. Both
- 34:25definitely intended that because and it's something that you mentioned in your notes about Sunspot
- 34:30that he finally stopped using his slave name. And this has come up in
- 34:32the comics. The mutants refer to their like code names as their mutant name
- 34:38and not their human name, which is, you know, the name they
- 34:40were given at birth. And it's just like you said to this the second
- 34:44time now that we've referenced that, I've referenced Marlowe from the Wire in this
- 34:47episode, because Marlowe is famous for that. You wanted it that way,
- 34:52but it's the other way and his other famous one, as I use is
- 34:54my drop is my name is my name, and my name is in the
- 34:59street. This is what that leads to. You know, my name is
- 35:01my name, And that conversation in the Wire comes from marlow being locked up
- 35:06in prison and finding out that people in the streets are saying, oh,
- 35:09Marlow gone saw And he's like, and when his lieutenants tell him this,
- 35:14who were in the streets And he's like, Nigga, y'all ain't murt them
- 35:17niggas, Like my name is, my name, my name has my name
- 35:22holds water. Like He's like, my name is in the streets. Niggas
- 35:27is saying my name without being dead. You know that don't happen, you
- 35:30know, Like, so what is going on in this life? And that's
- 35:35what mad Nito is about, like you said, and like you know,
- 35:37we all know, like we're you know, we go by our trosen whatever.
- 35:39Like my tros name is been, I mean, and it holds weight,
- 35:43you know what I mean. We choose these names because they hold power.
- 35:45And wait, Agnito, you know there it is, you know what
- 35:51I mean, Like, I ain't going by that name Sun Spots that I
- 35:54ain't going by Roberto no more, Nigga, my name is. I'm so
- 35:58happy he figured it out. Welcome, Welcome to the President. Mike to
- 36:02the plan that Nigga finally gonna get an introduction shot in the next season,
- 36:07and let me let me and again I know jump a little bit. Let
- 36:09me also say I'm so glad he made mention because I fucking said that in
- 36:13the last episode that sun Spot may mention. I know I've only been using
- 36:16my powers for like two seconds. Thank you, nigga, as long as
- 36:19you say what it is. Appreciate you and nigga flying in space in this
- 36:22episode that at that you you went right into your boy. Scott Summer is
- 36:30okay, stunners in respect on that man's name. I said this on ig
- 36:36and I said this on Twitter. Mm hmm. I don't hate Scott no
- 36:39move I could you ever X Men ninety seven turned it around for me.
- 36:45I'm not gonna I'm also not gonna sit here and be like, oh,
- 36:49I'm gonna be his cheerleader because I'm not. I will how you can't.
- 36:52However, Comma, I don't dislike the nigga anymore. This his his build
- 36:58up to this, and the fact that he came to the terms of his
- 37:01own funck shit. That's what made me like him, especially the last episode
- 37:06where I had actually verbalized that yo, I don't you know, I feel
- 37:09him and I actually was fucking with him when he told when he when he
- 37:14read Professor Exweerdfelds. And then even in this episode, especially when he was
- 37:19just like atoning for he was like, you know what I was fucked up
- 37:22to. I did some ship that I shouldn't have fucking done. And then
- 37:25when he finally really let go, and yes it was in the heat of
- 37:29battle, but I saw the let go. I saw the just put you
- 37:34all into it and let me see you nigga. Once I seen that,
- 37:37I said, Okay, I fuck with this man like I told you,
- 37:39like when you know that, nigga. One of my favorite panels ever is
- 37:44when that shit is just all read because yes, yeah, and on the
- 37:49obvious stuff, Yes, that fight scene went crazy. That the way that
- 37:55they once again that they animate the move sets and the power levels and the
- 38:01fighting aspects and the strategy behind the fighting and once again seeing the characters do
- 38:07things with their power that you may have not seen done before, or just
- 38:10building up of what you've seen all season. That went that the full red
- 38:15when when he first when he was just like, don't ever touch my family
- 38:20again, and man's with ham and then at the end when he just took
- 38:22off the shades all together, was like blasting that nigga Snat Snat snap,
- 38:30And I wanted to also mention this is also an easter egg for him in
- 38:34that move se he did you did it in the beginning of the show that
- 38:37I mean when you cross your arms, that's actually an actual move set from
- 38:39Marvel Versus Capcom. Which once again, when we said that this is a
- 38:44joint effort between many people, including you know, bodamaie on everybody there that
- 38:49was somebody else animators right when of aims who said, ayo, you should
- 38:52do this. Yep, huge Marvel Versus a cop current fan, and I
- 38:55mean, who isn't That's just one of the greatest video games of all time,
- 39:00and that's what we've talked about, you know, it's just how they've
- 39:04been using all these different sources to create this version. But I just again
- 39:07and again cannot get over how true it is to the comments and how good
- 39:13it is, Like this is just one little easter egg. And we put
- 39:16this on the Fall Nerds account on Twitter. But I don't know if anyone's
- 39:20ever done the days of Futures passed cover, you know when they show with
- 39:24Forge right. Well, we'll get to that little later, but that's another
- 39:28little easter we'll get to at the end of this, but yeah, because
- 39:30I really want to just talk about Scott. How motherfucking amazing indic is like
- 39:36a man doing his speed and his speed and the costume, like the way
- 39:40he's moving his oelat, yeah, to move himself around the room. And
- 39:46then, like you said, the conversation with Jeane Cable and Scott was as
- 39:52beautifully written to me as anything else. Cable talking about, Oh, this
- 39:57is one of those indings you know, for Sha in the ending of the
- 40:00episode, and you mentioned this actual scene was out of what you told maybe
- 40:07it was two or three episodes back where or maybe even more when we were
- 40:10talking about how when Scott and Jean were outside the mansion in front of the
- 40:16lake and Jean was floating the water and shit like that, and how you
- 40:21mentioned how in the comments they had a conversation where she held back his optic
- 40:24blast and that's part of like how they decided how they ended up falling love
- 40:28and all that stuff. So then they did it in this finale episode where
- 40:31he was like, yo, you got my eyes talking the Cable and then
- 40:35for her to take it off the glasses and stop the aptic blast and for
- 40:38him to be able to see his little brown eye, pretty brown eyes.
- 40:42You know what I'm saying, like, come on, come on, and
- 40:47you can see the love and you could see Cable finally like accepting Jane,
- 40:52and it's all y'all mean, finally like fully accepting it. I mean even
- 40:57in the in the earlier moment, what he says when you know he's down
- 41:01for the con when she summons up the Phoenix, my man says, I
- 41:05think you need to understand what Tom is telling you about my mom, my
- 41:07mom, and he's talking to that lady over there, my mother. Yeah,
- 41:13it's about to put that hurt on you. And that's, you know,
- 41:15a direct flip from the last episode when he says, my real mother
- 41:20was a telegon that in Marvel. You know it didn't it didn't pass.
- 41:23You know, it comes right to me too. But in this episode he
- 41:27knows, you know that they're both his mother in a way that they're they're
- 41:30essentially one of the same. But yeah, I understand what I understand what
- 41:34he's been through. He'd been through a lot, and we're we're gonna see
- 41:37a lot more of that in the next season. What cable. Yeah.
- 41:42Yeah, and what yeah, so see all that we're gonna talk about that.
- 41:46Yeah. The Phoenix and Jean Gray. You know that since the opening
- 41:52credits of episode one, all season long, through dialogue, through imagery,
- 41:58Phoenix, the Phoenix, the phoenis the Phoenix, and then finally, when
- 42:00it matters the most, she appears. Yeah, it's appears because it's an
- 42:05entity. It appears, Yep, does some business, bounces and leaves Gene
- 42:10to get served. Pretty typical. It did what it needed to do when
- 42:16it needed to do it. Yeah, but at the same time, cable
- 42:21from to save all of them. Really yeah, but five more minutes so
- 42:23the Phoenix would have very raptist episode up pretty feet. It would have been
- 42:28helpful, But then that would have been the cheat cold and there would have
- 42:30been no ending, like the way we want it. And and that's okay
- 42:34that they did it the way they did, because it ended up turning Sinister
- 42:37into a California Raisin and I fucked with that. That was amazing. That
- 42:40was funny. Yeah, sad, I mean yeah, it was like mom
- 42:50Rah momra used to for Thundercat fans when Mamurray used to be the big muscle
- 42:53nigga and then he gets foiled every episode and turned back into Momray, you
- 42:58know, and we all like the little week nigga. Your voice acting is
- 43:01hilarious, you know, you never you don't know, you know Mamra,
- 43:05right, you do know Mamra vagually? Okay, Well, Mamra is you
- 43:08know, the villain of ThunderCats, and he's a mummy because he's Mamra and
- 43:13normally he's this frail little nigga, you know, and then he would say
- 43:16some magic spell or something and it turned into this big bolt you know,
- 43:20swoll last Diesel nigga, and then Lione would serve that nigga and he would
- 43:23turn back and the Momra you know. Yeah. Also staying within the Scott
- 43:29Jen Cable trifecta at the end when when the asteroid m gets blipped somewhere blitz
- 43:40is a good word, and the team actually all gets separated, right,
- 43:45we do see Scott and Jean get get yeated to the future and they end
- 43:52up with mother Askani and then Scani tribe. You got to talk about that
- 43:58you got and the significant and I noticed that pros but the significance of Askani,
- 44:01her mother got skin of yourself and when they when they had the whole
- 44:06intro, a little righthead boy popped out and it was like talking about he's
- 44:10Nathaniel talking about Oh, I don't feel no harm coming from these two meanings.
- 44:14He's he's telekinetican whatever or feelings. What's going on? All right,
- 44:19it's going on. Long story short. This is basically and will have to
- 44:24to do this. We need to also just tie into all the whole ending
- 44:28of episode because basically the ending episode on all three fronts is tying into the
- 44:32net season and revealing the big bad or the big antagging us. I guess
- 44:37you'll say, because you know, my man is not very bad in the
- 44:39literal sense, just like Manto Apocalypse and the one't that we well. The
- 44:46first the big foreshadowing in this episode is when Rogue and Bashing are fighting on
- 44:52the moon in what is known, and I love that they don't it's all
- 44:55right, this is a two problem thing, right, And I'm answering a
- 45:00question. No this, No, We'll get back to the question, but
- 45:02I do. I just want to talk about the foreshadowing and then how the
- 45:07show doesn't explain shit unless you've watched earlier or you know it already, and
- 45:13it's just like either go figure it out or just accept that. You know,
- 45:16some really cool shit's happening because Rogan Bashing are fighting on the moon and
- 45:21Road should be dead. But where they're fighting on the moon is the Blue
- 45:24Area of the Moon, which in the comics is where Jean Gray gets turned
- 45:29into Phoenix, but she gets blasted there. And the Blue Area of the
- 45:32Moon is also the home of the inhumans and it has an atmosphere that is
- 45:37breathable to humans, and in humans gotchacause I'm going to ask how the hell
- 45:40did she survived when we started talking about rogues, but go ahead, that's
- 45:44why. And the Blue Area is also where Apocalypse I think, at one
- 45:46point has a base or something, which is why you see that statue in
- 45:51the background and Rogue sees it where yeah, Rogue looks over like she knows
- 45:58what that is and it's the face of Apocalypse. So that's the big foreshadowing.
- 46:01And then we get to the end of the episode where they're yeaded into
- 46:04the future and the mother of Ascani and Young the Thing don't walk up.
- 46:07Young Nathaniel is Cable. Remember earlier Cable got yeaded to the future. This
- 46:13is the future he got yeaded to. This is him years later as he's
- 46:15grown up a bit and he's only like maybe a teenager. Teenager Yeah,
- 46:21okay, so he's mad young, mad young. And this comes from a
- 46:24comics series, The Adventures of Scott or Cyclops of Phoenix, The Adventures of
- 46:30the Cyclops of Phoenix, where they get yeaded to the future and raised their
- 46:34son. The other person in this last scene is mother Askani, who is
- 46:37my girl, one of my favorite character's. Mother. Astani is an older
- 46:40version of Rachel Summers, who in the comics is the daughter of Scott and
- 46:47Jean from basically an alternate timeline. Right, Yeah, that's the most fucked
- 46:52up family tree Scot Summers family they are. We talked about Vulcan being introduced
- 47:00earlier in this season of Vulcan being introduced and having not a word to say,
- 47:04but that is Scott's other brother. Scott also has another brother, Havoc,
- 47:09and might have an yet one more, but it's really at this point
- 47:15it's as confirmed its Vulcan, Havoc, Stott, Rachel mean the Alternate Timeline
- 47:21Kids Cable being another Timeline kid Jean and Maddeline, his two Clne wives.
- 47:27His father abandoned him. Yeah, his father abandoned him to be a space
- 47:31pirate. His mom's dead. I think that's it. Okay, Cable Leader
- 47:40has an adopted daughter who Bishop chases through space trying to kill space and time.
- 47:46One thing I also wanted to add on about why also appreciated Scott was
- 47:51the fact that when I was like, he acknowledges his wrongdoing. Specifically,
- 47:54when he was just like, I should have told you asked by Remember I
- 47:58was warping on that when I was just like, is it uchu always a
- 48:00woman like I'm like, nigga, this is probably the last time you could
- 48:04see this guy hurt people, hurt people. He said, as much.
- 48:07I did the same thing my father did to me. My space pirate father
- 48:10abandoned me to go be a space pirate and frolic with a his his space
- 48:15pirate father. They say, woman who's like a humanoids skunk. You know
- 48:23it happens, Hey, he's a space pirate. Things happened. Okay,
- 48:28back to the end of the episode, the other indeed, Yeah, yep,
- 48:34okay, yeah, you mentioned the scani and all that stuff. Cuckockoo.
- 48:36Thank you for the background Shanni clan. What that is we can talk
- 48:39about that. But that's my the question I'm gonna have. I was gonna
- 48:43ask. We say, okay, we have this version Ofathaniel. Where is
- 48:46our cable that we've been fucking with? Where he go still in the past,
- 48:51remember, so he's still in the Remember Bishop comes to get him to
- 48:54get forged. Oh true. Indeed, well they don't have to get a
- 48:57cable to Okay. And on four just and on Forge's wall, it said
- 49:01cable was a wall. If I'm not miss if I'm not mistaken, probably
- 49:05disappeared some time somewhere into the times frame himself, okay, And that's that
- 49:08was just a question and about what happened. And also on cable's note,
- 49:13I had also the future right now, like cable ain't gonna disappear because they
- 49:16fucking with you know, his teenage when I disappeared. Just where did he
- 49:19go? I know everyone got scattered, but with right, so we'll find
- 49:22out. And then also on the cable front, I had asked this myself,
- 49:27like when he was first appeared about the whole during the whole Genosh ship,
- 49:30I was like, how many times does this nigga actually go back for
- 49:32them for Sinister to force him to say two hundred times, I fell to
- 49:39my knees. I said, what two hundred times to stop? Genoshis watching
- 49:45your mom dying for you? Two hundred times? Onered times? My guy,
- 49:50it's and you're right there and you're right now every time, and you
- 49:52get pulled out and you can do nothing time. You can do nothing to
- 49:58save her every time. But then you would think that means you thought you
- 50:00thought of two hundred different ways to potentially to make this work, because you
- 50:05was like, okay, a method fifty two didn't work. Method one forty
- 50:08six gotta work. Like he's seeing it happen, so it ain't just like
- 50:13that one time that we saw. There times when he's there and see Jo
- 50:15she get blown the fuck up, his mom get blown up everything, so
- 50:19he sees all the tragedy and then he gets you know, he can't stop
- 50:22it. That's insane. That's the same. Yeah, if you want to
- 50:27see something about the Scannie clan, please go ahead and then we could talk
- 50:29about the other side of this. Uh. Pretty like their name that Astrinnie
- 50:32clan is just off of Rachel Summers having been a time traveler herself and found
- 50:37the Astroni clan, which basically carries on the name of Edgemon, which was
- 50:42another foreshadowing when he's like, all the people are always telling me, these
- 50:45rebels telling me a boomer, I mean telling me the stories of the X
- 50:50Men. Yeah, is his parents, but Nathan doesn't notice in the future,
- 50:55like he realizes that when he had the conversation with them. Yeah,
- 51:00but in the comics he didn't like as as a kid, they hide who
- 51:04they are from him, got it. Yeah, so they don't. You
- 51:07know, they helped raise him, but they don't tell him where your actual
- 51:09parents, gotcha. I'm not sure how to do it in the show,
- 51:13but that's how it goes on in the comics. And that's also why his
- 51:15name is Nathan day Spring, which is like Summers. You know, Nathan.
- 51:17Oh, that was the name he took on day Scream. You said
- 51:20day Spring, day Spring? Okay, day Scream is a fire name,
- 51:23but yeah, no, day Spring is his name, Nathan day Spring.
- 51:29Okay. And then there's the other side of where the rest of the team,
- 51:32most not all the team gets sent to you we get we got beast
- 51:37Professor X Nightcrawler Rogue. Oh yeah, one last thing about that future apocalypse
- 51:42is running things, running things, which which one about the running apocalypse specifically
- 51:52is running things, running things, and it's all bad for everyone else,
- 51:54Like he it's mad match type situation where this nigga's control and everything everybody else
- 51:59is suffering bad damn. And now it's the other side where the rest of
- 52:02the team minus Storm, where the fuck is Storm gets yeaded to the past,
- 52:08to the Egyptian times, where as mentioned Nightcrawler Rogue Professor X, beasts
- 52:15pull up on and sob North was morph there? What happened to Morphrom Wolverine
- 52:20too? I was gonna ask you that I don't remember if morph is there,
- 52:22I don't think so. Wolverine ain't there. So I think morphins with
- 52:25Wolverine wherever they are, probably probably because they were with each other when when
- 52:30the ship, you know, he was doing his best gene grade. And
- 52:32where was Storm when the ship got yeaded? Storm was out there with with
- 52:37the She was fighting with that. Well wait, she was with Forge,
- 52:42right, didn't she? No? No, she was talking to Forge.
- 52:44She tells her that you know you're gonna you're not gonna be to make it
- 52:47back. Sun Spot and Jubilee are on the ground, and so so Storm
- 52:52is on the ground with for it. No no, no, Storm does
- 52:53not get to the ground before the ship gets yeaded. Okay, so either
- 52:58way, where the fuck is Storm? Good question? So, but I
- 53:01don't have any answer from the comments, honestly, I don't know. Right.
- 53:06So, so the people who we have name again I caller, Rogue,
- 53:08Professor X, and Beast. They are in the past in Egypt,
- 53:12and they pull up on and they actually and where's Magneto. Magneto's there too.
- 53:16Magneto's there too, thank you. Magnio's there, and they pull up
- 53:20on him and they actually save him from whoever was beefing with him, Yeah,
- 53:23some other Egyptians. And he introduces himself and then you see, you
- 53:29know, you see the blue the blue hieroglyphic ships on you know, on
- 53:31space, and just like old ship, and they all recognized, they all
- 53:35know who they're dealing with. Is that's why Beeft says, oh, you
- 53:37know, wow, what every hey says? You know, great, and
- 53:40Rogue and Magneto share a look because they know. And that's in Saboneur,
- 53:45which is in Sabeur is the first name of Avocalypse, and he is in
- 53:51Marvel History, the first mutant. He was born in Egyptian times and lives
- 53:55forever. His powers are quite tremendous and allow him to live for thousands of
- 54:00years up into the future where we meet him. And so Apocalypse, like
- 54:05we said before, will be a lot of the problems that they's been deal
- 54:08with in the net season because they're dealing with him in the future. They're
- 54:13dealing with his young version in the past, and then in present day.
- 54:16In the mid credits scene, we see Apocalypse again. And the thing is,
- 54:21if you go back to the original series, Apocalypse was featured super heavily,
- 54:24so anyone from who watched the original knows this character knows a lot of
- 54:29his history as well, so all this ain't new to him. But we
- 54:32see Apocalypse and the ashes of Janosha talking about so much death my children because
- 54:38of Apocalypse considers the entire mutant race to be his children. He's constantly saying,
- 54:45the strong survive and we need to be stronger. Why he gets finally
- 54:50was revealed in the recent house of that series, which really expanded his character
- 54:53even more. He's another one of my favorite characters in comics, and he's
- 54:58another character to star off. It's just a prototypical ra I'm Apocalypse all you
- 55:05die, you know, type villain and then turned into this really super complex,
- 55:09super really just well rounded character Inabonneur is one of my favorite characters in
- 55:16h my mythology, so it's fire, so fire, you know. And
- 55:22then in House of It he turns his name to an unpronounceable symbol, like
- 55:25he's Prince Prince yah know as yeah, because he's like, you know,
- 55:30I can't even speak that language. I have to have a co Cohen name,
- 55:34and so my name is you know, yeah, and I'm not Apocalypse.
- 55:39Even that he grows where he's like, I'm not Apocalypse anymore. I'm
- 55:43not preparing you all for that. Now. My name is Revelation because I'm
- 55:46bringing life and strength. You know. I am the light, you know,
- 55:50I'm not the death and the light. Yeah, speaking of death.
- 55:54When we do Hippopulys in that big credit scene, he is holding a Queen
- 55:58of Hearts card, which is one of Bambit's card. He pulled it out
- 56:01from the dirt and apparently he's on what's supposed to be modern day Janosha and
- 56:06he's standing in the ashes. So he says, so much death, my
- 56:08children as he pulls up Gambit's card, which was one of the big moments
- 56:15and a bid foreshadowing hint as a lot of people have guessed all season that
- 56:20you guess because this has It's happened in the comics, so this is not
- 56:22like, you know, a big thing. Gambit at one point in the
- 56:25comics became one of Apocalypse of horsemen of Death, and Wolverine in the comics
- 56:31also became a horseman of Death, but that was at a different time.
- 56:35But judging from the way this is doing, I'm assuming the Wolverine is still
- 56:39in the present and will get turned into his horsemen of war or wherever he
- 56:45is. He might be in the past too, and Apocalypse might turn him
- 56:47to a horseman award, and that might be the way they restore his admittatum
- 56:52to his bones, not him, but that should be happening with Okay,
- 56:55but yeah, it ain't like this is you know, old Gambit's back like
- 57:04that again, when they say horsemen of death, they mean of death.
- 57:07He is slinging death wherever he goes, you know, And yeah, well
- 57:14true indeed. Yeah, because if you slinging death, it ain't. I
- 57:15mean, you know some people might like that. I'm gonna good Gambit.
- 57:22Listen. Well, like I said, Rogue was there, and so it
- 57:27was night Crawler, and I want to I want to make mention about Rogue
- 57:30and her. She did her big one once again in this episode when she
- 57:36when she fucking gave the gave the ten piece to bashing and said his name
- 57:40was Gambit. Remember it, screaming, crying, throwing up when I said,
- 57:47say that, bitch, say that, like when I go, I
- 57:52want you to be Rogue. Okay, b Rogue for me. Okay,
- 57:57hold my name on like that and let people don't know what the fuck it
- 58:00was. But they talking about my name. You know what I'm saying,
- 58:04But they talking about me. Let them not forget remember it. Okay,
- 58:10it was great and it went in on him and then you know, yes,
- 58:15it didn't turn out the way we wanted it to, but she went
- 58:17in on him. Nonetheless, I mean it turned out the way we needed
- 58:20it to. We needed it to. Yeah, it doesn't turn out the
- 58:22way we needed it to. And let's talk about that because that was the
- 58:25other big moment of this episode is Cyclops accepting that they can't fight bash It
- 58:30because you cannot fight the future, and that's what Bashon represents. And that
- 58:35was a yet another moment that has really come up a lot in the conversation
- 58:38that we've distressed this on earlier episodes, is that the X Men are fighting
- 58:43a two pronged war, like they're fighting against humans mistrust and fear of them
- 58:49of the future, and at the same time, they're fighting against machines who
- 58:53are evolving to the rate that they will replace and everybody abody because they also
- 59:00in the current comments have this other species, posthuman they're dealing with, and
- 59:05the machines are like, well, that's cool, but all y'all niggas can
- 59:07go. Bashian is the Boorg. So he's like, it's cool. You
- 59:13saw how even the arm cable's arm, the way he absorbed that ship and
- 59:19became super and Jeel's Super saying five, like, what the fuck super Bashian?
- 59:24As you? I wanted to ask bo on Twitter was that he shout
- 59:27out to the comic villain Nol. There's a villain and Spider Man lord right
- 59:31now called Noel who's basically the god of the symbiotes and Noel has a red
- 59:37chest like that. He has the red Spider Man, you know, Venom
- 59:40emblem on his chest, and then he grows these wings like that and it's
- 59:44always flying around and that's when Venom started getting wings. But he saw Noah
- 59:47with them, yeah, all that type of ship. So I was like,
- 59:50oh, you're doing the no move and he did that. And also
- 59:52he did that on cable, you know when when when Scott fuck him up
- 59:59right, Scott was like, yo, we can't fight it, and then
- 1:00:02he was just trying to be like essentially trying to save Bash, and I
- 1:00:06was just like, you know, I had a little funny feeling like Okay,
- 1:00:09I don't know if I like this, but it doesn't matter because then
- 1:00:13Bashing did something funny and went into the light. Nigga yated himself. We
- 1:00:17went into the light like a fucking moth. And I said, wait a
- 1:00:21minute, did he kill himself or I know he's dead, but what happened?
- 1:00:25I'm not one hundred percent sure. But once again, okay, House
- 1:00:29of X has been out enough time where I do believe they could be referencing
- 1:00:32that again in this series in the first issue or one of the first issues
- 1:00:37of House of X, a character says, what's inside of a black hole?
- 1:00:40I know? And then they open up a black hole in front of
- 1:00:44people and all of them get sucked into it. And then that character later
- 1:00:47gets transported through time through the black hole. So we see a black hole
- 1:00:52type situation operating at the gravity cores, you know, in his ship when
- 1:00:58the gravity core collapses and everything starts, it something to it like a black
- 1:01:00hole situation. And Bashing. I love the smirk. That was my moment.
- 1:01:05That's like, come on, bad, come on. He's like,
- 1:01:10you're such a lame and staying on the whole Bash in front. He's ers,
- 1:01:17he's very much like everyone losing. But also he he's funny. And
- 1:01:22what when I said with the MCU has has had a problem with when we
- 1:01:25talk about the live action critical villain or other or or main guy, whatever
- 1:01:30you want to call him, antagonist whatever, maybe protagonist that is crucial and
- 1:01:37critical to the story that you care about or even have any type of feeling
- 1:01:39towards. You had that with Bash and whether you hate him love, you
- 1:01:42felt something about that. And he was a good villain, you know what.
- 1:01:46Acting was so good too, and like even him saying the smirk like
- 1:01:50you said. And then when he said because I said the same thing,
- 1:01:52Jubilee popped out, thinking she was gonna go hit him with the streamers,
- 1:01:57and he said, what are you gonna do? Fourth of July? Me
- 1:01:59to death? I had not said that myself fifty million times. For him
- 1:02:04to say that on the show, I was like, wow, and ju
- 1:02:07Believe, I mean ju Believe's retort was great, Like I ain't heard that
- 1:02:09a million times. It was just just just the back and forth and and
- 1:02:15all that it was. It was amazingly done and imp it wasn't it was.
- 1:02:21That's a great word. It was impeccable. Yeah, impeccable. And
- 1:02:24so back to that, I do believe that bash And will return that season
- 1:02:29as he got something to the black Hole, which will tom travel with him
- 1:02:32to one of these eras that the X Men are some type of ship like
- 1:02:35that you know who before I like, I do want to get to this,
- 1:02:38like maybe three more people. But can you explain how or who or
- 1:02:44how Asteroid M got the whole thing eat it like that in the first place
- 1:02:47or blipped like that in the first place. No, it wasn't that.
- 1:02:51It wasn't because, like you said, the thing and no, no bishop,
- 1:02:55no bishop explains that it is somebody yeating. The whole thing is somebody
- 1:03:00space, or maybe it is the thing yeating itself floading on itself. So
- 1:03:06it's all because it's a particle accelerator. So yeah, the engine it might
- 1:03:09have been ploaded on itself, but the es men and other people were yeating
- 1:03:14out of there before it floaded. Okay, what you're saying. The whole
- 1:03:19thing got yeated and then they got thrown to the cast across the multi verse
- 1:03:23time himelines and whatnot. Okay, all right, we did talk about some
- 1:03:28spot a little bit, Jubilee a little bit, them being back together,
- 1:03:32okay. QQQ. I had a question which Bowl and my actually already answered,
- 1:03:37and you answered one of the other questions. When I was just like,
- 1:03:39how the funck was rogue fighting in space? Technically she was in that
- 1:03:43blue zone blue area which has its own atmosphere and all the other stuff.
- 1:03:47Jubile Lee was also in fighting in space, and I said, I thought,
- 1:03:51and I thought atmosphere. Both said no, that was just when they
- 1:03:54were in really high altitude, which can depending on your angle. Appeared that
- 1:03:59you're in space, but she wasn't actually in space. I was like,
- 1:04:00right, I mean, if you want to, you know, start talking
- 1:04:02about it like that. You really had to talk about the distance road traveled
- 1:04:05from the asteroid into the Moon for it to be the size in that shot.
- 1:04:11I mean it was pretty close, but I don't know relatively. And
- 1:04:15yeah, it's space is huge fan, so you know, like that's a
- 1:04:19question, it's not it's not a complaint. It was yeah, but that's
- 1:04:21you know, comic books, you know, that's so yeah, my man
- 1:04:26beasts. I just thought it was cool he ghet or rigged the Sentinel and
- 1:04:30used that as a mech you know, and did the whole children horse thing
- 1:04:32like. I thought that was cute. Yeah. That was also a call
- 1:04:36back to the comments where this dude, one of the mutants has like the
- 1:04:41power to relate to this Sentinel and rides inside it in the same way.
- 1:04:45Okay, cute, very cute. What else did we got? Oh?
- 1:04:48And I guess I don't know if you wanted to talk about these people,
- 1:04:50but I want to talk about a lot of the cameos. Now. Yeah,
- 1:04:54if I just said, yeah, I think you missed one in a
- 1:04:57note, I mean, there's a few I think I don't know, please
- 1:05:00please add so so all the cameos that I didn't mention, I said,
- 1:05:03go ahead, Daredevil, Cloak and Dacker, Peter Parker and Mary J.
- 1:05:08MJ. I said that Samurai nigga because I couldn't remember anything. The nigga
- 1:05:12Silver Samurai is still standing on the Silver Samurai. He hasn't moved, is
- 1:05:15it he? Yes? Did he? Silver Samurai? He has not moved
- 1:05:18since we see him appear like four episodes ago. I think that was also
- 1:05:23intentional to show that nigga just you know, that's that, that's that g
- 1:05:26of that nigga, you know, like that nigga just waiting for the drama.
- 1:05:30Don't break it. He had a more complicated name of it's just silver
- 1:05:33Silver. I wish the nigga would that should that should be over the Silver
- 1:05:36Samurai child, Uh, Captain American iron Man something now now now I saw
- 1:05:45now And at first I was like, they're not doing ship. But then
- 1:05:47also somebody was like, well, you know, the Avengers be doing stuff
- 1:05:49on the side that you don't know about, which is true. And they
- 1:05:54was in the White House with or the bunker with President Kelly. We seen
- 1:05:58King to Chaka, King to Chaka, as well as the Door of Malaga.
- 1:06:02I don't know if anyone else from Black Panther wasn't been that view shot
- 1:06:06screen or that shot. We see doctor Strange performing surgery even in the dark
- 1:06:13with the candles, you know, doing his doing his as as Chico Leo
- 1:06:15would say, your finger, Jammy's you know, getting that done? Who
- 1:06:19else? Is there anybody else that I miss? Oh yeah, okay.
- 1:06:23During a lot of the Chef we saw alpha Flight. In one of them,
- 1:06:25we see alpha Flight standing with Cyclock, I mean with Silock and situation
- 1:06:30sicky and Alpha Flight more if not only transforms into mister Fantastic, he also
- 1:06:36transforms into one of our favorites, Sourn I just want to turn the world
- 1:06:43into dinosaurs. He I didn't realize I saw mister Fantastic, but I didn't
- 1:06:45know he did that. That's your favorite, that's everyone's favorite. For those
- 1:06:50who don't know this story real quick, there's a famous panel where Spider Man
- 1:06:57is talking to so On. So On is a mutant who can turn into
- 1:07:00a dinosaur human a tearod apple. You see Morph turn into him when he
- 1:07:03needs to fly for a second in this episode is very quick. He's a
- 1:07:06green tereodapto man and Spider Man is talking to him like you're brilliant, because
- 1:07:11he's a brilliant scientist. And he's like, you're a brilliant scientist. You
- 1:07:14could cure cancer. And so I said, I don't want to cure cancer.
- 1:07:17I want to turn the world into dinosaurs. One track minded, you
- 1:07:24got it. You can't say nothing to me like you got it? Focused
- 1:07:29Nigga, like why do you want to turn the world on a dinosaurs?
- 1:07:33You could cure cancer? And he's like, I want to carry a cancer,
- 1:07:35Nigga, I want to turn you got it. This is this is
- 1:07:42less of a cameo more of a character return. Bishop came back, as
- 1:07:45we called it. We was like, he's the only one who haven't we
- 1:07:47haven't seen all this time. And before we get to Visha because that wall
- 1:07:53is very important. Yeah, and we mentioned Polaris, we mentioned Quick and
- 1:07:59Stralla Witch. Then oh you want to talk about the cover? The cover
- 1:08:02that was the cover YEP in the mission scene when he comes in to collect
- 1:08:08forge Uh to go look for the mutants, which is also hilarious because he
- 1:08:13said, we ain't been through. The X Men are dead. This ain't
- 1:08:15our first rodeo, which is fucking comedy because the X Men are always dead
- 1:08:19in the post dead, They're always dying and coming back. They're always and
- 1:08:24it's and it points the whole team is always presumed dead like that was a
- 1:08:29famous one when they get sucked into the siege Perilists that I've talked about the
- 1:08:32early episodes of Magic Portal basically, and this building explodes and the whole world
- 1:08:38thinks they did, you know, because everybody sees him going to the building
- 1:08:41and then the building blows up, and so they're like, okay, them
- 1:08:44Nigga's dead. You know, they don't come out the building. They ain't
- 1:08:45no survivors. Nobody finds the body that the niggas dead, and so the
- 1:08:47whole world think they did. And then you know, there's a hunt for
- 1:08:51that sement. So it's another hunt for that men. But the wall that
- 1:08:56Forge is looking to before Bishop shows up features a lot of faith and there's
- 1:09:00bars across them. Some say to see some say missing Starlette Witch hilariously for
- 1:09:06some reason to say in space off world, and so does Quicksilvers. This
- 1:09:10Quicksilver one, it says off world, which probably people assume means that they
- 1:09:14are with the Avengers at this time and doing something off world. So that's
- 1:09:17probably that. But that wall is a homage to X Men. It's won
- 1:09:25something I'm not sure better say famous, covered by John Byrne. It's been
- 1:09:29duplicated hundreds of times at this point, but it's from their Days the Future
- 1:09:33Past storyline when they first show this ill future where it's all dark, the
- 1:09:39Sentinels have taken over and most of the edge Men have been killed or apprehended
- 1:09:44by the Sentinels, and so the cover features Wolverine and an older Kitty Pride
- 1:09:48shadow Cat who's also one of the faces on that who will probably show up
- 1:09:53next season. I can't wait. Love Kitty Pride and was in the pilot
- 1:09:57episode of the og X Men series YEP, and then never really showed it.
- 1:10:00I think she was in one episode, maybe in like the Regular City
- 1:10:03as well, but not many of any I'm not sure, but she wasn't
- 1:10:06that pilot, and I don't know if they ever brought her back, but
- 1:10:09Kitty Pride will return, but anyway, it's an older Wolverine and an older
- 1:10:12Kitty Pride in a spotlight, like the Sentinels had a spotlight on them,
- 1:10:16and behind them is this wall. So imagine being a comic book reader.
- 1:10:20You're reading one issue the X Men are in present day, everything's fine and
- 1:10:24dandy, and then you pick up well, I mean some tragedy that just
- 1:10:27happened. It was like Dark Phoenix and all that. Yeah, it's always
- 1:10:30tragify it happened, but it's modern day fine. And then you go to
- 1:10:31your common store and you see the Nest issue and as old as Wolverine and
- 1:10:35an old ass Kitty Pride, and then behind them most of the X Men
- 1:10:41are dead or apprehended. It's one of the most classic comic covers of all
- 1:10:45time. And like I said, I don't really remember even in Days of
- 1:10:48Future pastes showed them ever really doing I mean the movie them doing that cover.
- 1:10:55I don't know. Yeah, it's like so iconic that when and I
- 1:11:00tell you, you know, pretty much every other comic you know, there's
- 1:11:02probably a Superman cover with that image behind him, you know with some people,
- 1:11:06didn't they do that in the endgame or if any war wouldn't remember like,
- 1:11:11well, he was pulling up and it was a hologram where they were
- 1:11:15showing like definitely an homage there, you know, but yeah, just have
- 1:11:18that wall and you know, to do it in an X Men property,
- 1:11:21I don't feel like it's been done, and that's crazy to me. It's
- 1:11:24fun of those like moments. It's just like how when the Flash TV show
- 1:11:28was on the CW when it first started, they were murdering it because they
- 1:11:32were doing moments, yeah, cooking with grease because it was like you saw
- 1:11:36things. I remember when they did this Flash Prepper where the two Flashers are
- 1:11:41running to save this woman and it's a it's an old ass Prepper, but
- 1:11:45it's a classic Flash cover and they do it. You know, it's like
- 1:11:47they have the two Flashes start running forward to save this woman and you're like,
- 1:11:50oh fuck, yeah, you know they were like cover like just out
- 1:11:55of nowhere. It was so well done the way they did that, and
- 1:11:58this is how the show was doing. We talked about it like it's impeccable
- 1:12:00because it's like, damn, they just did the cover right there. Boom
- 1:12:03did the moment. You know what's going down if you're an X Men fan
- 1:12:06and if you're not an x Men fan and you see that imagery you know,
- 1:12:10that's such an iconic image and it funcks your head up because I damn
- 1:12:13all these niggas is dead or they miss it. Oh shit, he in
- 1:12:15s face. Oh fuck, what are they gonna do now? You know?
- 1:12:18Next season? Nigga? Wait next next time on dragon ball z very
- 1:12:24very drag ball z ish, Yeah, very dragon ballz ish. And in
- 1:12:27terms of Easter eggs, you you mentioned a piece of it earlier, that
- 1:12:30Magneto's files, that Magneto's Super Top Secret five that President Kelly is holding and
- 1:12:34reads and slipping through. They are actually an old to sir Ian McKellen,
- 1:12:40Michael foss Bender and David Hemblin. Sir Ian McKellen, as y'all know or
- 1:12:45shouldn't know, was the first at at least in the Fox Live Action ones.
- 1:12:47It was the first person playing Magneto that Michael foss Bender when they was
- 1:12:51doing the Younger Days of Future Past version type stuff, he came in.
- 1:12:55And then David Hemlin is was the voice actor in the original series so to
- 1:13:00and you'll see it like if you look at Magneto's file, like if you
- 1:13:01pause, that's seen that that that frame under his picture, you'll see it,
- 1:13:06say his name is Magneto's names and says Eric Leshner, Eric Magnus Leshner,
- 1:13:11and then you'll see like Ian like the first names like and you'll see
- 1:13:16like pieces of their names there, like it says Michael David Ian something like
- 1:13:19that. Then it says children and names all it mentions Polaris, but as
- 1:13:23you says, Polaris is blacked out. You just see the letter p It
- 1:13:26mentioned Scarlett Witch mentions Pietro. It's it's it's the love and care and dedication
- 1:13:35that has been placed into x N ninety seven is beyond compare for long term
- 1:13:42listeners. They know how much I love started which and like I said,
- 1:13:44it just extends that whole family is it's always the families. I think they
- 1:13:47get me in comics, you know, And so it's like the Summer's family
- 1:13:49is always one of my favorites. Their relationships and Magneto and his kids and
- 1:13:54how he's always fucking with them and not fucking with them. They got the
- 1:13:57most abusive relationship. And then Polaris always being this lone one who's just out
- 1:14:00and you never know she really is his daughter or not, but she's the
- 1:14:04one who has magnet powers. So yeah, she's his daughter, and recently
- 1:14:09in the comments, he accepted her, he accepted Strala witch, he accept
- 1:14:11the quit silver back of his life. And it was just like one of
- 1:14:13my favorite moments. Man. I was like, oh, yeah, are
- 1:14:15there any other like Easter eggs or cameos or anything else you wanted to mention?
- 1:14:21Yeah, I think we caught all the different cameos that I can remember.
- 1:14:27I know. I mean, we should address the elephant in the room
- 1:14:30here. A lot of people online were definitely quite upset that T'Challa was not
- 1:14:34featured Chaka and to Chaka was featured, which doesn't make sense to me,
- 1:14:39because why would o'challa be featured all right, now, they on this they
- 1:14:45do have a legitimate reason, because this is as bo has shown and said,
- 1:14:48and we see the same Spider manment that Mary Jane from the animated series
- 1:14:54that came out in the nineties in the nineties which feature T'Challa at point,
- 1:14:58which well, I'm not sure if he was in that, but he was
- 1:15:00in another series like people are making. Basically, people are now saying all
- 1:15:05those nineties series are shared universe, right, okay, And because of that,
- 1:15:10so Challa was featured in those, So why would his dad be here
- 1:15:14and not I was thinking the opposite that it was back in the day,
- 1:15:16so why would T'Challa be featured? But this is more this in this back
- 1:15:20in the day, to Challa was there. Yeah, I get it,
- 1:15:25but they're mad. But also like, as far as I know, Marvel
- 1:15:30has not chanced straight from their path of at least for now that we're not
- 1:15:33featuring anything Tolla's. That's their issue. They're they're quite upset about that.
- 1:15:40Yeah, I can't be upset about that. I mean they are, you
- 1:15:42know, they like somebody pointed out and this one I have said, this
- 1:15:45is the first time, you know, throughout this whole recast of Charlah,
- 1:15:48which I know pretty much been like recast your mama because you need to rethink
- 1:15:51a lot of decisions in your life. Shout out to Nicia f who coined
- 1:15:57that phrase. And this is the first time when someone pointing out the ant
- 1:16:00Man has had more springtime than Charla, you know. But I also say
- 1:16:05that just because I hated ant Man three and so I was like, damn,
- 1:16:09they really wasted air Man three and they could have just recast this nigga
- 1:16:11and you know, Man three was such a throwaway. Yeah, I know.
- 1:16:14And it's like I would have rather they recast the child over that.
- 1:16:16You know, that's just my distrust with ant Man three. I would have
- 1:16:19rather they did anything. I mean, I just feel like, let it
- 1:16:27happen. Let it happen, Like we'll go to child thing because y'all gonna
- 1:16:30be complaining about something else later. And I don't know, it's just we
- 1:16:33have so many and I guess it's the same as us, like we're gonna
- 1:16:36make critiques and it's not necessarily for us. Most times, it's not necessarily
- 1:16:40a complaint. We're just making a contact to have like full blown like being
- 1:16:43upset about it. I'm like, yeah, you might want to come.
- 1:16:46And also to be full blown upset about it online is only putting more money
- 1:16:50into Marvel's pockets. Like that's what people fail to realize. This whole campaign
- 1:16:56is just drawing attention to Marvel and mad people will hate watching more, you
- 1:17:00know, because of it, and they're gonna just keep making money. So
- 1:17:02if that was enough to make you hate watch or have any negative with ninety
- 1:17:09seven, that's insane to me. Yeah, I know, but that was
- 1:17:12one and even with the announcement recently that Ryan Cooliger might be considered to direct
- 1:17:16X Men. People work highly episode for you know the same you know weirdos,
- 1:17:20honestly, And my last point on this is I've made many time before,
- 1:17:25is that these all these characters, no matter what race, whatever that
- 1:17:31you, no matter what they mean to you, are owned by a company
- 1:17:34that don't give up fuck you know, like, they will do what they
- 1:17:40do to make money. They will capitalize on making money, so they will
- 1:17:43make a black panther film. But at the same time, they're gonna make
- 1:17:45a black panther film that features women that might not always feature to Challah,
- 1:17:49because that's how you make money. You blow up all your characters so that
- 1:17:53you can maximize the profits. That being said, there's so many black characters
- 1:18:00that are owned by black people that we could and should support Jimmy Hendricks Purple
- 1:18:06Hazing store soon. I don't actually own that one, but you know,
- 1:18:09we get it. Yeah, you still support black ran and black character and
- 1:18:13black character black. Yeah. So I just really hate when this kicks up
- 1:18:18every time because it's always like, to me, man, Marvel owns this
- 1:18:21shit, and there's so many other characters that we do own. And yes,
- 1:18:25the ch'allo was the first black chair of the books. You know he's
- 1:18:29first, he't the last. Moving on, let's yeah, guys, that
- 1:18:33that's okay. That said, we like you said, we might have touched
- 1:18:39on the characters and everything about it. I wanted to make a point that
- 1:18:44X Men ninety seven has been nominated for a Breakthrough Drama Series for the twenty
- 1:18:48twenty four Gotham Awards. Are they all? And reportedly the Remember episode has
- 1:18:54been put up as an entry for an Emmy in the Best Animated Series category
- 1:18:58for the twenty twenty four Primetime Emmys. That's a tough choice. I guess
- 1:19:00I put Remember it too, though, because remember it is a problem.
- 1:19:04It's a problem. It's it's such a turning point and pulls in so much.
- 1:19:10But and you can you can argue this episode, this episode is the
- 1:19:13one. But and again, this is all reportedly, this is not all,
- 1:19:16This is not you know, nigga, This shit gonna be up for
- 1:19:18the Golden Globe for them, And that's why I want to say, this
- 1:19:23has to go up for everything. And also this is the one where my
- 1:19:26rant comes in. Y'all have to y'all meeting these academies and folks and all
- 1:19:30that y'all have to respect animation. I'm tired of one it always being just
- 1:19:34relegated to animated because we're talking about a drama. Regardless of the medium in
- 1:19:41which it's being presented, it's still a drama, and on top of that,
- 1:19:45just giving it its due. Like I feel like like there's so many
- 1:19:48anime series where like I forgot with the exception of one award show for example,
- 1:19:55Pnemona, which was incredible, was only nominated like one time. I
- 1:19:58don't even know if was a nominated for Academy Award or a wife right,
- 1:20:00and maybe that was the one that it got. But like the way that
- 1:20:05there's not enough attention paid to animation, or like I saw this and it
- 1:20:10could have been a repeat of years of this tweak that keeps coming up.
- 1:20:13But someone was like, how old were you when you stopped watching cartoons?
- 1:20:16And one of my friends shout out the hood opulnce, he said, stopped
- 1:20:21Like that idea that anything animated is is childish or reserved for children, or
- 1:20:28is immature, any any of those negative connotations is wild to me. I
- 1:20:32think X Man ninety seven is going to break and it already is breaking all
- 1:20:38those boundaries because I think it's one of those shows that people are watching and
- 1:20:41forgetting they're watching a cartoon or watching animation. You know. I think they're
- 1:20:45just watching and it's so absorbing and so evolving that they're just they're getting involved
- 1:20:48in these characters, and they're like not even watching it and or watching it
- 1:20:54as a cartoon or thinking I'm watching a cartoon is something for kids. Think
- 1:20:58they're watching it and realizing, oh, this is animation for grown folks,
- 1:21:01and it's telling a great story. So I can watch things of this nature.
- 1:21:04So I think this is going to lead to a revival of more television
- 1:21:08show So we already have a lot of movies that adults can realize, Okay,
- 1:21:12this is an anime movie like Into the Spider Verses. Spider Versus a
- 1:21:15perfect example of stories that it does. Like it's just a good story.
- 1:21:18It's a good movie. It's not about the genre. It's a good movie,
- 1:21:21or not even genre the medium. It's a good movie. And we've
- 1:21:25talked about this, and I get what you're saying that, like, did
- 1:21:29I think the academies need to pay more respect but I do feel because at
- 1:21:32certain points I was like, Yo, Spider Verse should be nominated for Best
- 1:21:34Picture. But then I'm like, I only feel that because I was mad
- 1:21:38at lost and I feel like there's only one category for animation. But at
- 1:21:42the same time, I think animation needs to be respected as its own art
- 1:21:46form. And I'm sure they're animation awards where they, you know, have
- 1:21:49different categories, et cetera. And I'm sure they have their own version of
- 1:21:51the O Scores or whatever. Yeah, So because that's why I feel like
- 1:21:57it should be because it is it's own medium and has shown the joys and
- 1:22:01the greatness of animation. So I think that needs to be taken an account.
- 1:22:05Absolutely. I think it needs both. I think it needs it needs
- 1:22:09its own space and just and to your point, more attention in general.
- 1:22:13And I love that you mentioned Spider Verse. Like I said, just good
- 1:22:15story regardless of what it is, and it's not relegated to age. A
- 1:22:20good story is a good story, and whether it's animated or not, you
- 1:22:24know, in bright colors or not, it's still a good story. You
- 1:22:26have anime, you have the Western US animation, you have you have DC,
- 1:22:30you have Marvel, you have everything in between, and and and the
- 1:22:35fact that you can tell something so compelling if it's cgi whatever, the fact
- 1:22:40that you can tell something so compelling that spans across generations. That's also what
- 1:22:45I mean when about the fact of just giving it more respect and all of
- 1:22:49that, that idea that you can't watch it because you're an adult, and
- 1:22:53just that fuck out of here. Well, I think Marvel is really Marvel
- 1:22:58Invincible are really leading that charge, you know, to make it, especially
- 1:23:02as TV series, to make it acceptable for adults to watch the animated TV
- 1:23:08series that tackles adult things and not just adult things like something like Big Mouth,
- 1:23:12you know, where it's you know, kids talk about sex. Yeah,
- 1:23:15yeah, more like where it's an adult story, grown folks business.
- 1:23:18And I think they're really leading the charge on that. Like we have The
- 1:23:21Spider Man the Early Years coming later this season that's going to show that Peter
- 1:23:27Parker MCU before we see him and the MCU, and so I can't wait
- 1:23:32for that. I think they're gonna knock that out of the park as well.
- 1:23:35We have another season of this. People are calling for a whole animated
- 1:23:40revival of the Nineties Universe like that Spider Man Show featuring the Spider Man we
- 1:23:44see in this episode, which I'd be down for. I'll be down for
- 1:23:47the impact that ninety four. I'll never forget randomly watching that Spider Man ninety
- 1:23:53four one day, you know, I'm in my house in Houston watching this
- 1:23:56ship and Tombstone falls over the edge of a building, and Tombstone, who's
- 1:24:00coated as Black mind you, falls over the edge of his building. Spider
- 1:24:03Man grabs him and this nigga Peter Parker says, he's heavy, He's not
- 1:24:10my brother, and they are doing the image of he's not heavy, he's
- 1:24:15my brother. I cried. It's one of the funniest moments. And for
- 1:24:25somebody on that team to know that imagery of the two brothers holding one up,
- 1:24:30you know, from the hood, like everybody know that in the hood,
- 1:24:32and somebody in that team to know that and make that joke. That
- 1:24:36Spider Man Show was ahead of its time, just like that has been showed
- 1:24:40ahead of its time. So I'd be down for a revival of that as
- 1:24:42well. I'm down for whatever, you know. And we got to talk
- 1:24:46about Boat, you know, like what happened, God damn it. But
- 1:24:50figuring that out, y'all. One my point I wanted to make just about
- 1:24:55what we were just talking about, just in terms of respecting animation as and
- 1:24:58art form and then getting his flowers and things like that, that I would
- 1:25:00argue, and you had you had said something that that maybe wanted to make
- 1:25:02this comment to, I would argue that, particularly X Men, the animated
- 1:25:06series has always been some grown folks shit. Oh yeah, it's a soap
- 1:25:12opera at the end of the day. Those are the stories and yeah,
- 1:25:15and I and I remember even when when when this whole thing with ninety seven
- 1:25:19started and we were talking about it, I was like, those are my
- 1:25:23stories when I was a kid. That Gargoyles, Batman beyond, that's some
- 1:25:30that's not some lighthearted you know key we're hitting each other with with acme hammers.
- 1:25:34That's some some serious shit going on that may or may not be be
- 1:25:40processing in the you know, the mind of a ten year old or whatever.
- 1:25:43You are right like, it's it's it hits different, especially when you
- 1:25:45watch it as an adult, you're like, whoa, that's what they were
- 1:25:48talking about. Those are the themes that they were exploring grown people shape,
- 1:25:51but really complex themes that are often explored and dissected in the animated art.
- 1:26:00And you talked about Batman Beyond and that came out of Batman the animated series,
- 1:26:05with which is another one that I was like, that was the most
- 1:26:08grind breaking ship. I remember like running home from school like, yo,
- 1:26:12I gotta watch this shit coming on, Like Yovan Batman had the things coming
- 1:26:15off, coming home to watch this ship, and then being like, what
- 1:26:18the fuck y'all niggas put this shit on TV? When yet that stuff,
- 1:26:25like Dan, that's what they were talking about. I was shot. Then
- 1:26:28there's an episode where they showed the murder of Bruce Way's parents and it is
- 1:26:31one of the most like disturbing ways of showing that you could imagine blood pours
- 1:26:38out the barrel of a gun. It was something I never thought about,
- 1:26:41and to this day I remember, oh, yeah, I was sitting out,
- 1:26:45yeah, And then you know, to this day, I'm like,
- 1:26:49and I think that was one this one episode they only aired one time at
- 1:26:54the time because it got so much like people were like, Yo, what
- 1:26:56the fuck? I think that might have been it. And then I've talked
- 1:26:59about this. The X Men and animated series original had an episode that was
- 1:27:01the origin of Mister Sinister that featured Jack the Ripper, Like and no X
- 1:27:06Men in took place in the sixteen hundreds. These niggas was out of their
- 1:27:10mind back then too, Like shout out to them niggas because they was fucking
- 1:27:13like, fuck it, we doing what we need to do, you know,
- 1:27:15like fuck y'all kids. Fuck them kids straight up. Like, you
- 1:27:18know, if they get it, they get it. If they don't,
- 1:27:19they don't. But we're gonna do this. It last stuff on a Saturday
- 1:27:24morning, you know cartoon show. So Bow and the rest of the team
- 1:27:28is just standing on the shoulders. Man. You know, I'd love to
- 1:27:30see it. They standing the shoulder And I thought you were gonna say they're
- 1:27:32standing on business. Oh both. And I know that we're probably gonna have
- 1:27:38an all star review of the season at large. X Men ninety seven stood
- 1:27:42on Big Business. It did his Big one, it did usion bars at
