- 1:33Speaker 1: Shout out to my guy amor who connected us. I

- 1:38Speaker 1: I just ended up streets along the streets every day. Man,
- 1:42Speaker 1: was just hot out. It's good to finally meet you. Man. Obviously,
- 1:45Speaker 1: I've been following your story for a really long time.
- 1:49Speaker 1: You've done such a good job of building an enterprise, building,
- 1:54Speaker 1: building up just different streams of revenues that you got
- 1:58Speaker 1: out of since you got out, Man, I mean, I
- 2:00Speaker 1: feel like you just you got out in the real
- 2:02Speaker 1: work started right, Yeah, ain't no question, Well not really,
- 2:04Speaker 1: because I worked when I was in jail. Believe it
- 2:07Speaker 1: or not, I did not have enough time. When I
- 2:09Speaker 1: was in jail. I wanted more time, really, yeah, I
- 2:12Speaker 1: wished I had more time. So how would you spend
- 2:14Speaker 1: your days like and in what ways? Were you still
- 2:17Speaker 1: working on outside stuff while you were incarcerated? Every day?
- 2:20Speaker 1: Every day, you know, I was getting schooled by Wendy
- 2:24Speaker 1: Day on marketing. Whinny Day's legend in the music industry. Yep,
- 2:28Speaker 1: it was one of my personal coaches. You know. We
- 2:30Speaker 1: emailed back and forth four or five times a day.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I just I just tried to stay touch and in
- 2:37Speaker 1: touch with the streets. You know, what was going on,
- 2:39Speaker 1: who was moving You know, you'd be surprised of some
- 2:43Speaker 1: of the people that that I was communicating with from
- 2:46Speaker 1: behind the bars. Who was somebody? I mean, obviously you
- 2:49Speaker 1: mentioned Whinny Day, but were there any anybody else that
- 2:52Speaker 1: whether it was actors, directors, artists, musicians that would snoop
- 2:57Speaker 1: dre they all reached out. They necessarily didn't reach out
- 3:01Speaker 1: reach out to them. You know, I knew somebody with connections.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Bernard Hopkins, uh cha, Bernard Hopkins, Berner Hopkins, a real one.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Who else? A lot of people? You know, I found
- 3:15Speaker 1: the alcoholics while I was in jail. You found the licks.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I found the licks. He's talking about Tash king T. Well.
- 3:22Speaker 1: King t was a part of the liquor. King T
- 3:24Speaker 1: was was you know King I listened to King T.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I'd beat the King of hip hop. I did not
- 3:30Speaker 1: listen to King What. What did King T tell you? Well?
- 3:33Speaker 1: I was. I was hanging out with Dick Griffy by
- 3:36Speaker 1: the way, shout out to jer Row and East Swift.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I just want to make sure I know all three.
- 3:40Speaker 1: I know all three members of the Licks. I was
- 3:42Speaker 1: hanging out with a guy by name of Older Smith
- 3:45Speaker 1: who was the owner of Beverly Glen Music. Uh. He
- 3:48Speaker 1: introduced me to Dick Griffy Berry Guardy And at the
- 3:53Speaker 1: same time, I'd already started dipping into hip hop. This
- 3:57Speaker 1: is while you're no, no, this is before before okay,
- 3:59Speaker 1: this is before NWA. At that time, my DMC might
- 4:06Speaker 1: have been this is like early to maze yep. Yeah, yeah,
- 4:11Speaker 1: So I was already dipping in hip hop. We had
- 4:14Speaker 1: the DJ equipment and you know, we're doing we're doing
- 4:16Speaker 1: a little thing. King T told me to mess with
- 4:22Speaker 1: him DJ pooh, But instead I gave the money to
- 4:27Speaker 1: Oldiest Smith to do a need a Baker's first record. Wow.
- 4:31Speaker 1: And had I known that hip hop was going to
- 4:34Speaker 1: be what it became, I would have went on and
- 4:36Speaker 1: did DJ Pooh album anyway instead of not doing it.
- 4:41Speaker 1: You know, I still could have did it, but I
- 4:43Speaker 1: was like this young boy, he was only about seventeen
- 4:45Speaker 1: years old. Yeah, King T FOREO. People don't give him
- 4:48Speaker 1: enough credit. He's one of the young pioneers and La
- 4:53Speaker 1: Dre learned how to work the drum machine from Master
- 4:55Speaker 1: Spade and King T. Now King T doesn't get enough flowers, Oh,
- 4:59Speaker 1: no question. Well you know, and and that's why when
- 5:01Speaker 1: when when when King T was going through his little thing,
- 5:06Speaker 1: you know, dra gave my deal, right, I don't remember
- 5:09Speaker 1: what year it was, but but Dre gave me a
- 5:10Speaker 1: nice little deal, you know, trying to try to try
- 5:12Speaker 1: to boost him up, get him back on his feet.
- 5:15Speaker 1: But yeah, King T had told me to mess with
- 5:17Speaker 1: hip hop. Was like, stick with the hip hop, stick
- 5:20Speaker 1: with the hip hop. And and you know, I'm listening
- 5:23Speaker 1: to these guys that got platinum albums and and and
- 5:26Speaker 1: you know, walls decorated looked like your wall right here.
- 5:29Speaker 1: So I'm like, who do you listen to the seventeen
- 5:32Speaker 1: year old kid or the pioneers of of of R
- 5:36Speaker 1: and B and uh. It was it was a decision
- 5:39Speaker 1: that was easy for me to make. You know, I
- 5:40Speaker 1: went with them. Of course, how did you discover the
- 5:43Speaker 1: licks from? From? Well? When when when I was in MDC,
- 5:49Speaker 1: as soon as I walked in the door, the first
- 5:51Speaker 1: person I ran into was HARRYO. So HARRYO pulled me
- 5:54Speaker 1: into his selle. We were Selly's and you and harry
- 5:57Speaker 1: we were sellis. Yeah, we were Selly's. Okay, when when
- 6:00Speaker 1: they started death row Okay, Okay, that's that's that's crazy
- 6:04Speaker 1: to know because I mean, just the chances of that happening,
- 6:06Speaker 1: like you guys ended up. I mean, but you know,
- 6:08Speaker 1: you're talking about guys who who pretty much ran the
- 6:11Speaker 1: streets out of here. And even though we wasn't really
- 6:16Speaker 1: good friends on the street, you know, we we were
- 6:19Speaker 1: kind of competible. You know, you want to be you
- 6:22Speaker 1: don't want to be in to sale with somebody that
- 6:24Speaker 1: you can't talk to, relate to, you relate to, you know,
- 6:28Speaker 1: you want to be with somebody that you can relate to.
- 6:30Speaker 1: If you're gonna have a selle, first you don't want
- 6:32Speaker 1: to sell it. But if you're gonna have one, you
- 6:33Speaker 1: want somebody to be somebody who you could actually be
- 6:35Speaker 1: friends with her. Yes, So when I leave MDC and
- 6:39Speaker 1: go to the pen in Arizona. I get to the pen,
- 6:42Speaker 1: they turn on b T and there there was snooping
- 6:46Speaker 1: doctor dre one A seven on the undercover cop in
- 6:51Speaker 1: the Arizona Phoenix Arizona or which was a buckeye. No
- 6:55Speaker 1: black Canyon. Okay, okay, the name of the FCI Phoenix
- 6:59Speaker 1: is what it's called. But it's in Black Canyon. So
- 7:03Speaker 1: when I saw that, I was like, damn, Harry Finna
- 7:06Speaker 1: make it. You know, death Row is Finn Blow. So
- 7:09Speaker 1: I got right on the phone, man where King t At,
- 7:11Speaker 1: give me King T number. So they gave me King
- 7:14Speaker 1: T number. I was like, man, I need an artist,
- 7:17Speaker 1: and he was like, my video finish drop Saturday. Look
- 7:21Speaker 1: at my video. Let me know if you like these
- 7:23Speaker 1: little dudes. It was licks alcoholics. Man, shout out to
- 7:26Speaker 1: Tash and those guys. And then it was even colder
- 7:29Speaker 1: than that. They living with my cousin really related to you.
- 7:34Speaker 1: You didn't even know it. Yeah, they was living with
- 7:36Speaker 1: my cousin. So it was it was a real easy fix.
- 7:38Speaker 1: And then uh, Fade, I don't know if you know,
- 7:42Speaker 1: Fade Debian got all faith. Well, Fade was also Fade
- 7:46Speaker 1: was at that time, Fate was a head promoter over
- 7:49Speaker 1: Loud Records, but he was gonna quit Loud Records and
- 7:52Speaker 1: come and run Freeway Records for me. Wow. So doing
- 7:56Speaker 1: that transition, he got the job over then the scope
- 8:00Speaker 1: mm hmm. And he was still gonna quit though, and
- 8:03Speaker 1: come and and and and and run my label. That
- 8:06Speaker 1: was that was our plan. He was gonna quit his
- 8:08Speaker 1: job and come run my label. I go to the whole.
- 8:12Speaker 1: That's when one of my partners was in the hole.
- 8:14Speaker 1: He telling me to call this girl and and and uh,
- 8:17Speaker 1: the case manager called me and locked me up. So
- 8:23Speaker 1: when I go to the hole, I'm in the hole,
- 8:24Speaker 1: like thirty days, no phone call, no mail, no nothing.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Fae signed him the Loud Records Wow. Yeah, because they
- 8:32Speaker 1: ended up on Loud with like that's how that's how
- 8:35Speaker 1: they ended up on a round with with with the risks,
- 8:38Speaker 1: and they probably could have should have ended up on
- 8:40Speaker 1: the Freeway Records. Yeah, they should have. And and then
- 8:43Speaker 1: you know, I was, you know, I was kind of
- 8:45Speaker 1: due too where I wasn't gonna like sweat, you know,
- 8:48Speaker 1: like it wasn't their fault that I went to the hole.
- 8:51Speaker 1: And and even though we had already agreed on on
- 8:54Speaker 1: the deal and everything. I just like, go ahead, y'all,
- 8:57Speaker 1: do y'all thing. So take me back. You said that
- 9:00Speaker 1: you bankrolled Anita Baker's first record. Mm hm, So how
- 9:05Speaker 1: did because you know, obviously in your position, do you
- 9:07Speaker 1: have a lot of money that you need to put
- 9:09Speaker 1: places and you need to Yeah, I was looking for
- 9:11Speaker 1: I was looking for legitimate businesses, things that get me
- 9:14Speaker 1: out of the dope game. Of course I didn't want
- 9:16Speaker 1: to be in the dope game. So how how does
- 9:19Speaker 1: this Anita Baker story happen? Because I mean, obviously you
- 9:21Speaker 1: told us you linked with you just said his name.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I'm sorry OLDA Smith, Odas Smith. When I was in
- 9:26Speaker 1: high school and another mistake I made not being young,
- 9:31Speaker 1: you know, not really understanding business. At the time, I
- 9:34Speaker 1: was a tennis player. Okay. Older Smith had a son
- 9:39Speaker 1: that he wanted to be a professional tennis player. His
- 9:42Speaker 1: son was about three years younger than me. So Oldest
- 9:44Speaker 1: would come pick me up from high school, would pay
- 9:47Speaker 1: me twenty dollars for me. At that time, that was
- 9:50Speaker 1: a lot of money. Yeah, twenty bucks back then, I
- 9:52Speaker 1: mean twenty bucks in the nineties was let we'll buy
- 9:55Speaker 1: me tennis shoes. We'll buy me rackets to go and
- 9:57Speaker 1: play with his son. I played with his son, just
- 9:59Speaker 1: boyut every day after school. I would finish at the
- 10:01Speaker 1: tennis team, do my little tennis practice at the school,
- 10:04Speaker 1: and then he would pick me up. We'd go to
- 10:06Speaker 1: Beverly Hills, Hollywood. It was another place where Kennedy got
- 10:10Speaker 1: killed at. It used to be a tennis club, really
- 10:12Speaker 1: nice tennis club. He was a few tennis clubs. He
- 10:16Speaker 1: was the only black that went there. Nobody else La
- 10:20Speaker 1: Tennis Club in Hollywood. He was the only member for
- 10:22Speaker 1: the longest. There was no other black member beside Oders
- 10:26Speaker 1: Smith in that club. So he would take me to
- 10:28Speaker 1: those places and I would play with the son, you know,
- 10:32Speaker 1: our hour and twenty minutes whatever whatever time it took
- 10:35Speaker 1: us to play a couple sets. So I grew up.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Though after I was sixteen seventeen, I think seventeen eighteen,
- 10:42Speaker 1: I stopped playing with him. I dropped out of high
- 10:44Speaker 1: school and went back to the streets. So we hadn't
- 10:47Speaker 1: saw each other for years. And all this is in
- 10:49Speaker 1: my book if you get a chance to year book.
- 10:51Speaker 1: It's been out for a while too, about five years.
- 10:54Speaker 1: But they still don't nobody know about it. It's still
- 10:56Speaker 1: kind of like unknown, you know on Amazon. I'm sure,
- 10:59Speaker 1: don't go Amazon and get it. Don't go No, should
- 11:02Speaker 1: they go go to Freeway Ricky Ross and get my
- 11:04Speaker 1: book by the book there, Well you can get an autographed.
- 11:06Speaker 1: You get it autographed, and you get to keep all
- 11:07Speaker 1: the money you don't got to give Amazon there cutting Yeah,
- 11:11Speaker 1: I don't want to get Jaffizo nothing. He's got enough.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Hain't no Jeff, Yeah, a rich motherfucker's go to space. So,
- 11:19Speaker 1: uh I loved Otis, let me say that there. Yeah.
- 11:24Speaker 1: So one day I'm just like chilling out right here
- 11:26Speaker 1: in Santa Monic. It was. It was a professional tennis
- 11:29Speaker 1: tournament going on, and I ain't seen notice in five
- 11:32Speaker 1: six years. You know, I got ham on my face.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Now I'm a grown man getting money. I ain't sixteen
- 11:36Speaker 1: no more. And I got about two three million dollars
- 11:39Speaker 1: cash and I'm at the tennis court. I'm by myself.
- 11:42Speaker 1: You know, no no homies don't want to go to
- 11:43Speaker 1: no tennis match and just kick back on the bench
- 11:46Speaker 1: and got my hand, got my cell phone and you know,
- 11:49Speaker 1: just relaxing. This is a relaxed to day and I
- 11:52Speaker 1: look up. There was little oldest nice like six feet
- 11:55Speaker 1: three and hit his son. His son, Yeah, hitting the
- 11:59Speaker 1: ball the time. And he's playing against No. One guy
- 12:02Speaker 1: from Stanford. Big guy looks like a linebacker. And they
- 12:06Speaker 1: start arguing. And then the guy from Stanford, the whole
- 12:10Speaker 1: team is back in him. Otis. He's playing at UCLA,
- 12:15Speaker 1: the only black guy on the team, nobody backing him.
- 12:19Speaker 1: He's by myself. I said, man, I'll better get some help.
- 12:24Speaker 1: So I got on the phone. I called all the guys.
- 12:26Speaker 1: I was like, man, some white boys fan to jump
- 12:28Speaker 1: on me out here in Santa Mona. Come atoo. You
- 12:31Speaker 1: know they was in La we in Santa Monic. They
- 12:33Speaker 1: was there in like five minutes. I heard motorcycles tired, screeching,
- 12:37Speaker 1: and to hell of a that's a hell of a
- 12:38Speaker 1: time to get that far. As soon as they come,
- 12:42Speaker 1: the kid who little Otis is arguing with hit the
- 12:45Speaker 1: daddy in the eye, damn. And then my guys just
- 12:49Speaker 1: coming over the fence. I see him coming over the
- 12:50Speaker 1: fence and they looking at me like he do that.
- 12:54Speaker 1: And they don't even know Otis, but they just know
- 12:56Speaker 1: it's a black guy and a white guy fighting, so
- 12:58Speaker 1: and then I just gave him a nod and they
- 13:01Speaker 1: wouldn't handle their business. So when they broke it all,
- 13:04Speaker 1: I went and broke it all up. I didn't want
- 13:06Speaker 1: none of my guys went to jail. So that relationship kept.
- 13:09Speaker 1: It started all over again. It started all over in
- 13:12Speaker 1: that day. So Oldest don't even know that I did
- 13:14Speaker 1: that for him, right, Like, he don't know what happened.
- 13:18Speaker 1: He just no. Man, damn, somebody saved my life because
- 13:21Speaker 1: he was finna get massacred, I can imagine. So then
- 13:24Speaker 1: the tennis coach, my high school tennis coach, comes up.
- 13:27Speaker 1: He's the one that introduced me the oldest because he
- 13:30Speaker 1: knew I needed money in high school. So they started talking,
- 13:34Speaker 1: and I'm just standing back to the side listening, you know,
- 13:36Speaker 1: glad to see my old coach again, you know, because
- 13:39Speaker 1: my coach was nice to me. You know, he helped
- 13:42Speaker 1: me out a lot in life. So I Older started
- 13:45Speaker 1: telling him about the music business because I never knew.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I just knew. Oldest drove a brand new Rose Royce convertible.
- 13:50Speaker 1: You know, I'm in the seventies, Like, I don't know
- 13:52Speaker 1: what you do. You know, I don't even care what
- 13:54Speaker 1: you do, just keep giving me them twenties. So he
- 13:58Speaker 1: was talking to Coach Smith about the music business and
- 14:00Speaker 1: then he was like, man, Rick is the one that,
- 14:02Speaker 1: uh you should be talking to. He got more money
- 14:04Speaker 1: than seeing and and uh he oldis looked at me
- 14:08Speaker 1: and he was trying to figure out did he know me?
- 14:11Speaker 1: He's like little Rick. Man, He's like little Rick. He
- 14:15Speaker 1: was like yeah. So then I came up. We shook hands,
- 14:17Speaker 1: and he's like, man, it's been a long time. I
- 14:19Speaker 1: take you out for dinner. And uh then the coach
- 14:22Speaker 1: said he probably won't to save your life out here.
- 14:25Speaker 1: So the relationship started. The next day, he took me
- 14:28Speaker 1: up to his office, you know, showed me all the plaques,
- 14:30Speaker 1: you know, Johnny Taylor, he found Rick James, you know,
- 14:34Speaker 1: uh his listen, he just he was just decorated. So
- 14:38Speaker 1: I was already dipping in hip hop right then. You know,
- 14:41Speaker 1: I was messing with some local rappers here and I
- 14:43Speaker 1: had I had some rappers from Chicago. I'd already sent
- 14:45Speaker 1: four that eventually signed with Russell Simmons. What was the
- 14:49Speaker 1: names six Pack or something like that. There. Uh they
- 14:53Speaker 1: didn't get big, you know, they got a little mediocre
- 14:58Speaker 1: local you know local celebrities. So Oldis started talking to
- 15:05Speaker 1: me about this girl that he was going to produce,
- 15:09Speaker 1: and he needed the money to produce her. He didn't
- 15:11Speaker 1: even had the money to send for I gave him
- 15:14Speaker 1: the money to sender her ticket from Detroit to come
- 15:16Speaker 1: out here, and we got our apartment up in Hollywood
- 15:19Speaker 1: Heels and just started from there. I need a baker.
- 15:22Speaker 1: I need a baker. I never got into the business though,
- 15:27Speaker 1: you know, I just gave him the money. Here, here's
- 15:29Speaker 1: the money, here's the money. So did you get a
- 15:32Speaker 1: return on your investment? No, she jumped the label? She okay,
- 15:37Speaker 1: she jumped the label went to I forgot the name
- 15:40Speaker 1: of the label. I paid for the attorney, the sewer.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Oh wow, it's crazy because, like I think so many
- 15:47Speaker 1: people have kind of like based on I guess the
- 15:51Speaker 1: misconception that like snowfall is like directly about you, even
- 15:55Speaker 1: though they didn't. They couldn't say that because they didn't
- 15:57Speaker 1: drop the bag off, that they should have probably up
- 16:00Speaker 1: the bag off for you. But they might be getting
- 16:01Speaker 1: ready to drop it now, you know. I got the
- 16:02Speaker 1: phone call. They want to they want to sit down.
- 16:04Speaker 1: They want to sit down. In terms of what though,
- 16:07Speaker 1: I don't know in terms of like bringing you into
- 16:10Speaker 1: the fold. You just told me they want me to
- 16:12Speaker 1: come through the studio. What we're gonna talk about. I
- 16:16Speaker 1: don't even know the Snowfall producers or the network or
- 16:19Speaker 1: the show. I mean, obviously John Singerson passed away, Rest
- 16:22Speaker 1: in peace. They say that he say it was a producer.
- 16:25Speaker 1: I mean, but it's it it has to do with
- 16:27Speaker 1: Snowfall or is it separate? No, they Snowfall. I mean
- 16:32Speaker 1: I mean because I mean, listen, if anyone who's familiar
- 16:34Speaker 1: with your story, I mean, like what they know they
- 16:37Speaker 1: changed commercials when they add the first commercials on Snowfall.
- 16:42Speaker 1: My fans gave them the blues M hashtag and John
- 16:45Speaker 1: Singleton Snowfall, I mean, FX all of them. Hey, this
- 16:49Speaker 1: is Rick's story, y'all stole rick story? Yeah, I mean
- 16:52Speaker 1: obviously it's not the same because then they then you
- 16:56Speaker 1: could sue the living ship out of them. Have did
- 17:00Speaker 1: you try to suit? No? I thought about it. I
- 17:03Speaker 1: talked to a few lawyers. It's a tough suit. It
- 17:06Speaker 1: is a tough it's a tough lawsuit. It's a tough lawsuit.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Intimate domain. You know, I got so much stuff in
- 17:13Speaker 1: newspapers right and right right right right. So if you
- 17:16Speaker 1: think about like the show, h I mean as far
- 17:21Speaker 1: as the first season, I guess I guess how much
- 17:25Speaker 1: of that do you feel like was really? I didn't
- 17:28Speaker 1: watch it, you didn't watch it. I only started watching
- 17:31Speaker 1: the show after I got the call from Dave and
- 17:34Speaker 1: he wanted me to come and be a part of
- 17:36Speaker 1: his podcast after the Snow. Before that, I never watched
- 17:40Speaker 1: No Fall. I probably had glanced, you know, passing by
- 17:44Speaker 1: and and and and seeing it on TV. Now. I
- 17:47Speaker 1: did have dinner a lunch with Franklin before. I was
- 17:50Speaker 1: at Whole Foods downtown with the actor. Yeah, the English
- 17:54Speaker 1: guy something Idris is his name. I forget his first name.
- 17:57Speaker 1: I don't know his name, but it seems like I'm
- 18:00Speaker 1: terrible with names. Seems like a nice guy, very nice guy.
- 18:03Speaker 1: I like him. So you guys had dinner, lunch, lunch.
- 18:06Speaker 1: You guys had lunch. Did he like try to pick
- 18:08Speaker 1: your brand? Or I was sitting there because I didn't
- 18:12Speaker 1: know who he was. Okay, because you're like, I don't
- 18:14Speaker 1: even watch the show. I don't watch the show. How
- 18:16Speaker 1: would I know who you are? You know? And he
- 18:18Speaker 1: walked up and he was like, you missed Ross and
- 18:20Speaker 1: I was like yeah, and uh my managers were sitting
- 18:24Speaker 1: there and they was like, that's a guy from Snowfall.
- 18:27Speaker 1: And I was like what. And I was like, sit down,
- 18:30Speaker 1: you can sit down. So he sit down and we
- 18:32Speaker 1: just started talking. He was like, man, I don't know
- 18:33Speaker 1: why John ain't got you on the set. And I
- 18:36Speaker 1: would do a much better job if I had you around.
- 18:38Speaker 1: And you know, we just went through the little thing.
- 18:40Speaker 1: You know, he probably was blowing a little smoke too.
- 18:42Speaker 1: You know. Of course, of course he runs into you
- 18:44Speaker 1: and so but it was a cool conversation. Uh and
- 18:50Speaker 1: and you know, we just got after we finished, and
- 18:52Speaker 1: we just got up and we went our separate ways.
- 18:55Speaker 1: So because obviously in the show, like it's very much
- 18:59Speaker 1: kind of I mean, I'm assuming there wasn't a bunch
- 19:02Speaker 1: of tennis players in your hood where you were growing
- 19:05Speaker 1: up at, right, I mean, for black tennis players, we
- 19:09Speaker 1: probably had the biggest black population of tennis players maybe
- 19:12Speaker 1: in the country. You go from were you a good
- 19:15Speaker 1: student in school? Terrible terrible student, good athlete, though when
- 19:20Speaker 1: I say terrible, I mean terrible as far as is
- 19:23Speaker 1: doing the work and stuff. Like that. I didn't really
- 19:26Speaker 1: like mess up a lot in school. I was a
- 19:29Speaker 1: good kid. But I was a good kid. But applying
- 19:32Speaker 1: yourself to school, I couldn't read it right. You couldn't
- 19:34Speaker 1: read and write no, oh wow, okay, So take me
- 19:38Speaker 1: like to like the is the parallels of the show
- 19:44Speaker 1: and the CIA. And obviously we all know that the
- 19:47Speaker 1: contra wars are being funded through all this crazy ass
- 19:50Speaker 1: ship that was going on with the CIA. Was that
- 19:52Speaker 1: is that part accurated in terms of what you were
- 19:55Speaker 1: dealing with with your plug and all that ship? I
- 19:57Speaker 1: didn't know. I didn't know that my guy was a
- 19:59Speaker 1: CIA operative. You didn't know until you were incarcerated. Right
- 20:02Speaker 1: when when when Gary Webb broke the story? Is when
- 20:06Speaker 1: I found out that the guy been getting my drugs
- 20:08Speaker 1: from was the CIA operative? And how long was that
- 20:11Speaker 1: your guy? Like? Like was it from the jump? Like
- 20:14Speaker 1: I sold drugs for eight years? He wasn't the main
- 20:17Speaker 1: guy all along? But you know, you know in the
- 20:19Speaker 1: drug business there's probably three or four guys in between
- 20:25Speaker 1: there is, so you have to work your way through
- 20:27Speaker 1: each level of of of of participants in order to
- 20:32Speaker 1: get to the top. Hunt show. Were there situations in
- 20:36Speaker 1: which you felt like the fact that you were indeed
- 20:39Speaker 1: dealing with law enforcement without knowing it, and that they
- 20:42Speaker 1: kind of needed you out on the streets getting this money.
- 20:47Speaker 1: You know, I had to totally totally opposite because you know,
- 20:50Speaker 1: they had the Freeway Task Force, so they had the
- 20:53Speaker 1: free but the freeway separate, they were separate, separate from them.
- 20:57Speaker 1: So the Freeway Task Forces is kicking my ass. That's
- 21:00Speaker 1: the LAPD or lap LAPD and sheriffs which have no
- 21:04Speaker 1: idea about this other thing that's going on over here
- 21:06Speaker 1: at the CIA. They found out after they raided as well.
- 21:09Speaker 1: That do you think that they, like the CIA like
- 21:12Speaker 1: maybe protected you in certain aspects where that could have
- 21:16Speaker 1: been worse on the sheriff a LAPD, like was there
- 21:18Speaker 1: like an invisible hand that maybe kind of cant thinks
- 21:21Speaker 1: so handcuffed and hog tide your legs hog tide and
- 21:24Speaker 1: beating the head with a flashlight and a dog by
- 21:26Speaker 1: looking crazy. Do you think you were protecting what you
- 21:29Speaker 1: feel like it was protected? Probably not? No, probably not.
- 21:32Speaker 1: So I didn't feel like I was protected. What was
- 21:34Speaker 1: the first like time where you decided like this is
- 21:38Speaker 1: something I need to really do. Was it because you know,
- 21:41Speaker 1: like you said, like when it comes to dealing drugs,
- 21:43Speaker 1: I've sold weed and other things. There's like a moment
- 21:47Speaker 1: where you realize, oh, there's real money here, Like you
- 21:51Speaker 1: start off a certain way, Like, at what point in
- 21:53Speaker 1: time did you realize I could turn this into an enterprise.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Was it like after you've got your first key? No? No,
- 22:02Speaker 1: my first my first fifty I got beat out of.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I sold it to one of the big homies. Well
- 22:07Speaker 1: I didn't sell it to him. We didn't know what
- 22:09Speaker 1: it was, Memoribley who I was working. We didn't know.
- 22:12Speaker 1: We didn't know what cocaine was. I never seen cocaine before.
- 22:14Speaker 1: And this is prior to the crack era really kicking it. Yeah,
- 22:18Speaker 1: this is still powder. This is a straight power I mean,
- 22:20Speaker 1: they rocking it up, but we didn't know how to.
- 22:22Speaker 1: You didn't know what the fuck it was. Freebasing wasn't
- 22:24Speaker 1: popular at that yet, I guess right. Freebasing was. Yeah,
- 22:28Speaker 1: freebasing was was. It was popular, but not to me.
- 22:34Speaker 1: And had Richer Pride already been freebasing? Okay, the Richard
- 22:38Speaker 1: Pride already been getting down. So I had never saw cocaine.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I never saw weed at the time. I was a
- 22:46Speaker 1: tennis player, That's what I mean. Yeah, yeah, I was
- 22:48Speaker 1: a square. So when my partner called me over and
- 22:52Speaker 1: showed me the cocaine for the first time I saw
- 22:55Speaker 1: cocaine was on Superfly, some real shot. Yeah. So I
- 23:01Speaker 1: was a novice. So you I got beat out my
- 23:06Speaker 1: first fifty. When you say that, what do you mean? Okay,
- 23:09Speaker 1: he took it, my guy Martin, who was the big home.
- 23:12Speaker 1: He took it, rocked it up, and he sampled it.
- 23:17Speaker 1: And at that time he got back up a piece
- 23:19Speaker 1: of rock that was about the size of a match head.
- 23:22Speaker 1: You've probably never seen a match of course, seen the
- 23:25Speaker 1: matches before it. Thirty from thirty five. I'm not twelve.
- 23:29Speaker 1: We can go to seven eleven to get free matches,
- 23:30Speaker 1: right now? Yeah they still have matches, Yeah, they got
- 23:33Speaker 1: to I don't know my cigarette. You can say I
- 23:35Speaker 1: need a match book. I am saw, I'm match in
- 23:37Speaker 1: thirty forty years. Shit, they're still out there. Okay, Well, anyway,
- 23:40Speaker 1: it's about the size of a match head. And he said, well,
- 23:43Speaker 1: it rocked up, but now I gotta taste it. And
- 23:47Speaker 1: he cut a little piece off of it, and it
- 23:49Speaker 1: was just a teeny piece left and he threw it
- 23:51Speaker 1: on the pipe and he tasted in and he said,
- 23:54Speaker 1: I need another taste. And next thing you know, it's
- 23:57Speaker 1: like a little little teeny weeny piece. He said, Man,
- 24:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna just smoke that and I'll pay you Friday.
- 24:02Speaker 1: That's fifty bucks worth, right, So now, oh, my boy,
- 24:06Speaker 1: fifty bucks, I'm already broke. So I'm really fucked up now.
- 24:11Speaker 1: So I'm sitting on the porch again, like damn. I
- 24:13Speaker 1: got to call at homie and tell him I ain't
- 24:15Speaker 1: got his fifty fifty bucks sent me a decent amount
- 24:18Speaker 1: of money. Now, back then it was it was a
- 24:19Speaker 1: nice fuet of money. Yeah, so uh, I guess. About
- 24:23Speaker 1: an hour or two later, Martin pulled up again, the
- 24:26Speaker 1: one who had smoked all the rock, and he had
- 24:28Speaker 1: Big Mouse whitting. It's the first time I ever met
- 24:30Speaker 1: Big Mouse. The mouse used to hang out with Tickie
- 24:33Speaker 1: Williams and he was one of one of the guys
- 24:35Speaker 1: you know, swollen, and he jumped out he had a
- 24:37Speaker 1: hundred dollars. He's like, man, we want one hundred dollars
- 24:39Speaker 1: worth of that, and I was like, damn, I ain't
- 24:42Speaker 1: got it. So I said, let me go call my boy.
- 24:47Speaker 1: So I called Mike. I told Mike everything that happened, Like, look, man,
- 24:50Speaker 1: I ain't got your fifty, but I got somebody here
- 24:52Speaker 1: with a hundred. We got a hundred. If you want it,
- 24:54Speaker 1: you can come get it. I'm gonna get you your
- 24:56Speaker 1: fifty whenever I get it. Yeah, And he was like,
- 24:59Speaker 1: oh my way. That was my first sale. And I
- 25:02Speaker 1: was like, damn, this shit got value. It got value.
- 25:05Speaker 1: That's crazy. At what point in time did you realize
- 25:08Speaker 1: that re rocking cocaine was the most profitable business model
- 25:15Speaker 1: for you to to really get to get the most
- 25:18Speaker 1: out of out of what you were getting from. Well, well,
- 25:20Speaker 1: how that kind of came about is is people would
- 25:23Speaker 1: come over early in the mornings, you know, seven eight
- 25:25Speaker 1: in the morning, before they go to work. You know,
- 25:26Speaker 1: they want to get a hit before they go to work.
- 25:28Speaker 1: And they'd be like, damn, man, I ain't got no utensils.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Utensils was the stuff that they cooked it up with.
- 25:35Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, I got a bottle, and
- 25:37Speaker 1: I would let them use my bottle and they cook
- 25:39Speaker 1: it up, and I was like, damn, won't I just
- 25:42Speaker 1: have it ready rock for him, ready to go? Because
- 25:46Speaker 1: it's like and then we start calling it ready rock.
- 25:49Speaker 1: But we got that ready rock, we got powdered, we
- 25:51Speaker 1: got ready rock. Which one you want? Which one do
- 25:53Speaker 1: you want? And so more people started asking for rock
- 25:55Speaker 1: than powder, and then pretty pretty soon it just phased
- 25:57Speaker 1: powder all the way out. Hey, we got to start
- 26:00Speaker 1: the interview real quick. Man. Shout out to our sponsors
- 26:02Speaker 1: at my bookie. Now, if you're into sports like me,

- 27:13Speaker 1: code bootleg double your deposit. My my own close family
- 27:16Speaker 1: members had their bouts early on in my childhood with crack.
- 27:20Speaker 1: But crack is like one of those things that like
- 27:23Speaker 1: I feel like when you when you see the things
- 27:25Speaker 1: people go through to get it, and they know that
- 27:28Speaker 1: it's detrimental to their lifestyle, but they still go through
- 27:32Speaker 1: all those things and they still put It's almost like
- 27:34Speaker 1: being a crack ad is like a real full time
- 27:36Speaker 1: job just to get high. It's like it's like it's
- 27:39Speaker 1: like if you wake up every day and your goal
- 27:40Speaker 1: is to get crack. It's like that's like your full
- 27:42Speaker 1: time becomes that becomes your goal. Yeah. I saw people quit,
- 27:45Speaker 1: you know, before I start selling crack, would quit jobs
- 27:48Speaker 1: that we would kill for, right, And it's like, and
- 27:51Speaker 1: like I'm quitting, man, I'm gonna come out dan work
- 27:53Speaker 1: with y'all. Like, homie, you ain't gonna make it out
- 27:55Speaker 1: here in these streets. Did you ever try it? I
- 27:57Speaker 1: tried it for about two weeks and and what I
- 28:01Speaker 1: mean you got sick. You got sick. Thank god, because
- 28:04Speaker 1: if you really liked it, you would have had I
- 28:06Speaker 1: would have I mean, I knowing me, I would have
- 28:09Speaker 1: had to strength to quit though. Yeah. And I've had
- 28:11Speaker 1: friends that I've helped quit, you know, like was out
- 28:15Speaker 1: there and they came back and then started having money. Yeah.
- 28:19Speaker 1: It's crazy because you think of like some of the
- 28:23Speaker 1: you know, I guess when you think of being a
- 28:27Speaker 1: drug dealer, the moral I guess the moral line that
- 28:32Speaker 1: you're walking where it's like, Okay, at the time, you
- 28:35Speaker 1: don't understand in twenty or twenty five years from now,
- 28:39Speaker 1: how you're going to be necessarily affecting all the Yeah,
- 28:44Speaker 1: the crack era, absolutely, Like you don't know that when
- 28:48Speaker 1: you're living it because it's it's it's you. You can't see.
- 28:51Speaker 1: There's nobody Coody really knew though, because yeah, no one knew, right,
- 28:54Speaker 1: nobody knew about crack at that time. Yeah, it was
- 28:56Speaker 1: something new, and I'm sure it started off as people
- 28:59Speaker 1: doing it recreationally because I have friends like Brian Samson
- 29:02Speaker 1: shout him. I guy Brian who did crack in the eighties.
- 29:05Speaker 1: He used to say he used to just freebase before
- 29:06Speaker 1: he fucked. He'd be like, oh, yeah, we used to
- 29:08Speaker 1: do it in the eighties, but like we didn't really
- 29:10Speaker 1: know it was cracked yet. We just called a free basin, right,
- 29:12Speaker 1: you know, and you're you're absolutely right. So like people,
- 29:15Speaker 1: I think it started off as some them were and
- 29:16Speaker 1: the people who was doing the all have money because
- 29:19Speaker 1: you feel you figure it back then when when when
- 29:21Speaker 1: when I started a grammar cocaine was worth like three
- 29:24Speaker 1: fifty three seventy for a gram, so everybody couldn't afford
- 29:29Speaker 1: to free base extremely rich and at the time there
- 29:33Speaker 1: was no ready rock, so people had to buy that
- 29:36Speaker 1: and then do that shit on their own. Like you said, right,
- 29:38Speaker 1: do you think that you were eat the basin. They
- 29:40Speaker 1: used to eat the base when you first started, they
- 29:42Speaker 1: was eat the basin. Were you were? You think you
- 29:45Speaker 1: were one of the first people who decided to prepackage
- 29:48Speaker 1: and have it ready the ready rock aspect. You know.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Elie time said I was the first cracked millionaire, you know,
- 29:55Speaker 1: and you know it's hard to say. We don't keep stats,
- 29:58Speaker 1: you know, we just we'd just be trying to stack
- 30:00Speaker 1: as much money as we can. Do you feel any
- 30:03Speaker 1: sort of remorse or guilt, just kind of knowing like
- 30:06Speaker 1: your part in the crack epidemic? Well, you know what,
- 30:10Speaker 1: People ask me that, and I used to contemplate with
- 30:13Speaker 1: how to answer that question, But I know how to
- 30:15Speaker 1: answer it now. I did an article with a young
- 30:18Speaker 1: lady in Chicago from the Chicago Tribune, and when she
- 30:23Speaker 1: headlined her article, she said, no regrets, only lessons. So
- 30:30Speaker 1: I learned a lot from being in the cocaine game.
- 30:34Speaker 1: You know, I'm happy with myself right now. You know,
- 30:36Speaker 1: I'm happy with my life. I'm happy to with my
- 30:38Speaker 1: life turn out, you know, even my prison time. You know,
- 30:42Speaker 1: I accept that as being part of, yeah, my journey
- 30:46Speaker 1: of my rights to passage and who I am right now.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Had I never been involved with the cocaine, I couldn't
- 30:53Speaker 1: be who I am today. You know, I wouldn't be
- 30:55Speaker 1: able to do the things that I'm going to do
- 30:58Speaker 1: in the future. Were there every little things that happened
- 31:02Speaker 1: where you were dealing with your plug that might have
- 31:05Speaker 1: like that in retrospect you think back on or you
- 31:09Speaker 1: thought back on when you realize that they were indeed,
- 31:11Speaker 1: you know, CIA or whatever, were there like little things.
- 31:14Speaker 1: We're like, you know what now that now that I
- 31:17Speaker 1: know that this, it kind of meant like nothing like
- 31:20Speaker 1: what they're doing on snow on snowfall. Uh. You know,
- 31:24Speaker 1: I'm looking at these guys they like walk through locks,
- 31:27Speaker 1: doors and walls, and you know they got supersensus, you know,
- 31:30Speaker 1: where they could just like figure out and somebody's watching
- 31:33Speaker 1: them and like, no, that shit don't really happen in
- 31:35Speaker 1: the DoD game. You know, we just like normal motherfuckers.
- 31:38Speaker 1: We make mistakes, you know if you forget ship, but nah,
- 31:45Speaker 1: do you remember that like the time you you knew
- 31:49Speaker 1: for the first time you had a million dollars, because
- 31:51Speaker 1: I feel like that first million has got to be memorable.
- 31:54Speaker 1: I mean, there was times where you were making three
- 31:56Speaker 1: million dollars a day, right, the one hundred thousand, My
- 31:58Speaker 1: first one hundred thousand was more memory don your first million,
- 32:01Speaker 1: yeah them my first million, because you know, the dope
- 32:04Speaker 1: game is it's kind of funny because once you make
- 32:07Speaker 1: a hundred thousand, it gets really easy to make a
- 32:09Speaker 1: hundred thousand. That's a lot of people don't know that.
- 32:13Speaker 1: But to get to an ounce was tough. That was
- 32:17Speaker 1: like like pulling teeth out to get to an ounce
- 32:20Speaker 1: of cocaine, you know, to save up twenty eight hundred dollars, like, wow,
- 32:24Speaker 1: I ain't gonna never get there. And then once I
- 32:26Speaker 1: did it, it was like four ounces and ten ounces
- 32:30Speaker 1: one hundred ounces, you know, just like kept spending. And
- 32:33Speaker 1: that's the same way with money. You know, once you
- 32:35Speaker 1: get to a certain level. So if, for instance, when
- 32:38Speaker 1: you're working with one hundred thousand, it's easy to profit
- 32:42Speaker 1: thirty forty thousand dollars. Yeah, I mean once you have
- 32:44Speaker 1: that one hundred k, you start playing in a different
- 32:47Speaker 1: game in terms of the amount of money you can congenerate,
- 32:50Speaker 1: can generate one hundred percent because you really really what
- 32:54Speaker 1: you do is what I did, you see, like what
- 32:56Speaker 1: I found out about myself is that I don't look
- 33:01Speaker 1: at myself no more as a cocaine dealer. I was
- 33:03Speaker 1: a cocaine banker. Mmmm. So I would do like banks do,
- 33:07Speaker 1: go get money from somebody and then take it and
- 33:10Speaker 1: break it down to a bunch of other people and
- 33:12Speaker 1: then make a percentage off of each one of those people.
- 33:15Speaker 1: And that's how my money was generated. Wow. So yeah,
- 33:19Speaker 1: that makes sense. Cocaine banker. I like that. I like
- 33:23Speaker 1: that's that's that's pretty wild for people who don't know
- 33:26Speaker 1: what area of LA what was your neighborhood? South Central?
- 33:30Speaker 1: But like Steven, then figure out. Okay, so when you're
- 33:33Speaker 1: growing up, you're coming up in the late seventies, early eighties,
- 33:37Speaker 1: right sixties. I was there when to watch riots happen.
- 33:41Speaker 1: That's crazy. Yeah, I saw the watch es. Yeah, I
- 33:44Speaker 1: was there. I saw the burn, baby burn, you know,
- 33:47Speaker 1: the army tanks rolling down the street, the army man.
- 33:50Speaker 1: I mean, you're there for the beginning of what we
- 33:55Speaker 1: you know is you know, we live in LA So
- 33:57Speaker 1: we're fully at least you know, obviously both of us.
- 33:59Speaker 1: But a lot of people culturally think of LA. They
- 34:03Speaker 1: think of the two biggest gangs in the world of
- 34:06Speaker 1: the Bloods and Crips in terms of just culturally right,
- 34:09Speaker 1: and like, I feel like your come up. You were
- 34:11Speaker 1: actually kind of there before Bloods and Crips were world famous.
- 34:16Speaker 1: You were probably running a lot of those blocks before
- 34:19Speaker 1: it became like a thing. Well, no, they was there
- 34:22Speaker 1: before I started selling coca, so they were there already.
- 34:25Speaker 1: I'm just I'm just curious like that that I remember
- 34:29Speaker 1: when the Crips and Bloods played football against each other, Wow,
- 34:34Speaker 1: before they were enemies. I remember the first person that
- 34:37Speaker 1: got killed at the park. You know, we had all
- 34:41Speaker 1: all my little crew. We had all rode our bikes
- 34:43Speaker 1: to the beach and we sneak, you know, sneak and
- 34:47Speaker 1: ride our bikes to the beach. School. Who wasn't only
- 34:49Speaker 1: about ten years old, But back then, you know, you could,
- 34:52Speaker 1: you could run around La and didn't have to be,
- 34:54Speaker 1: you know, worried about nothing happened to you. I would
- 34:56Speaker 1: let my ten year old kids run the streets now
- 34:59Speaker 1: in LA, but of course back then we did it.
- 35:01Speaker 1: You know, about ten of us, fifteen of us, we
- 35:03Speaker 1: get on our bikes and we just ride to the beach.
- 35:06Speaker 1: And we were coming back from the beach this night,
- 35:08Speaker 1: and it was just before don you know, it was
- 35:11Speaker 1: still the sun was still up a little bit, and
- 35:13Speaker 1: when we got to the park, we see the park
- 35:15Speaker 1: taped off and cops everywhere, and it was like, what happened?
- 35:20Speaker 1: And then we found out that one of the crips
- 35:22Speaker 1: killed the blood. It was that's so wild over a
- 35:25Speaker 1: football game. Over a football game. One of them tooth
- 35:28Speaker 1: got knocked out, and from there it was just it
- 35:31Speaker 1: was started fight escalator and then the weather one went
- 35:33Speaker 1: to the car and got his gun. That's so crazy,
- 35:36Speaker 1: what because it would have been easy for you to
- 35:38Speaker 1: get sucked into that life, right. I wanted to be
- 35:41Speaker 1: a crypt, you wanted to be a cryp? Yeah? What
- 35:44Speaker 1: was it? That was about twelve. I was gonna say
- 35:46Speaker 1: what was it? Because because you know, you're obviously running
- 35:49Speaker 1: your enterprise later on, was it easy to navigate kind
- 35:53Speaker 1: of being independent? If that makes sense? Well, you know
- 35:56Speaker 1: I was. I was a kid and I was only
- 35:58Speaker 1: twelve years old, So I just mean in terms of
- 36:00Speaker 1: when you started to finally kind of get into the streets, well,
- 36:04Speaker 1: when I came back to the streets though, when I
- 36:05Speaker 1: quit playing tennis, I was a grown man. But I mean,
- 36:09Speaker 1: did you still have to kind of deal with some
- 36:10Speaker 1: of those politics. Yeah, but they was my homeboys, Okay,
- 36:13Speaker 1: I went to school with them. It's like my neighborhood
- 36:17Speaker 1: is like the Crips is right here on figure or
- 36:22Speaker 1: and then you go a block or too old, it's
- 36:24Speaker 1: the Bloods, right, so it's only like it ain't even
- 36:28Speaker 1: a quarter mile between, you know, the two sets. You know,
- 36:31Speaker 1: like the two sets kind of like mingle into each
- 36:33Speaker 1: other on certain areas. You know, like you could be
- 36:36Speaker 1: walking down the street and you see the Bloods walking
- 36:39Speaker 1: on that street, and then you know, you see the
- 36:41Speaker 1: Crips just just a little off, so they were they
- 36:44Speaker 1: were close out of each other. Yeah, that's that's crazy
- 36:47Speaker 1: because like I just feel like that was befocause now
- 36:50Speaker 1: we think of like, I mean, there's blood sets and
- 36:53Speaker 1: cripsets all over the world, and just like, I guess
- 36:56Speaker 1: that's amazing. I never would have thought that at one time. Yeah,
- 36:59Speaker 1: it's wild. It's crazy. And then even when we think
- 37:02Speaker 1: of just gangs in general, we just think of crypts.
- 37:04Speaker 1: I mean in the United States, like people think of
- 37:07Speaker 1: Crypts and Bloods as like the two biggest gangs. Like
- 37:09Speaker 1: obviously there's motorcycle gangs, there's Hell's Angels and all that.
- 37:11Speaker 1: But oh, for sure, it's a wild it's a wild
- 37:14Speaker 1: thing to think that you were there. Well, the Christ
- 37:15Speaker 1: and the Bloods get the most notoriety probably you know,
- 37:18Speaker 1: out of it's something about you know, being black in
- 37:21Speaker 1: America where they like to promote negative stuff about us.
- 37:26Speaker 1: That's true. And then also just the you know it
- 37:29Speaker 1: even it even baffles me when when when I went
- 37:32Speaker 1: to jail, you know, I made every news channel in
- 37:35Speaker 1: the country, night Line, Dayline, twenty twenty sixty minutes. Well,
- 37:39Speaker 1: I've been out. I spoke at Stanford University, Yale, not Yale.
- 37:44Speaker 1: That's not on Dateline, that's not on twenty twenty. Yeah,
- 37:47Speaker 1: they're not. They haven't said nothing about it, of course not. Yeah,
- 37:50Speaker 1: I mean it's the same way that and and for me, unlike,
- 37:53Speaker 1: you got a guy that was illiterate, Now he's getting
- 37:57Speaker 1: paid to talk at Stanford University, you see law school UCLA.
- 38:02Speaker 1: I mean, if that ain't some amazing shit, what is
- 38:06Speaker 1: what is for a guy who couldn't really couldn't write,
- 38:09Speaker 1: now the universities of paying him to go and talk
- 38:11Speaker 1: to the smartest students, I'm like, what the fuck? It's
- 38:15Speaker 1: just this society. Man. It's like when we think of
- 38:18Speaker 1: like when you turn on the news, like they're not
- 38:21Speaker 1: talking about the good shit going on. They're only talking
- 38:23Speaker 1: about the nots of stuff that really like like, like
- 38:26Speaker 1: even I even broke down to John Singleton situation, right
- 38:30Speaker 1: because I knew John fucked with me, right, he fucked
- 38:33Speaker 1: with me for real. You know, I know when motherfucker's faking,
- 38:36Speaker 1: of course, So me and him sit down, we chopping
- 38:38Speaker 1: there with the aid together, so I know that he
- 38:41Speaker 1: liked me. Yeah, So I was thinking a couple of
- 38:45Speaker 1: weeks ago, like when I started doing this show after
- 38:49Speaker 1: the Snow with Dave, you know, I started really like
- 38:52Speaker 1: just opening my mind up and like really thinking. So
- 38:55Speaker 1: I was like, damn, I bet John Singleton went to
- 38:58Speaker 1: FX and say, man, I got Rick Ross and I
- 39:01Speaker 1: got this show, and they probably were like, we'll take
- 39:04Speaker 1: the show. We don't want rig Ross. That's interesting. I
- 39:09Speaker 1: wouldn't doubt it. I mean, from all accounts I've heard,
- 39:11Speaker 1: like John was a pretty stand up dude. I don't know,
- 39:14Speaker 1: but I don't think he should have did the deal though.
- 39:16Speaker 1: He should have said you ain't taking Rick Ross. You
- 39:17Speaker 1: can't have the show I don't. I mean, yeah, I mean,
- 39:20Speaker 1: I don't disagree. I mean, I don't disagree. I mean,
- 39:22Speaker 1: and I also think it's obvious that it was loosely
- 39:25Speaker 1: based around your life, Like it's odd you could go
- 39:27Speaker 1: to this page. If you go to John Singleton's Instagram page,
- 39:31Speaker 1: you got me and him hugging taking a picture with
- 39:34Speaker 1: my book. He bought one of my first books and
- 39:36Speaker 1: he said Rick Ross's great story Snowfall coming soon. I
- 39:40Speaker 1: didn't know it until somebody brought it to my attention.
- 39:43Speaker 1: M that's fucking crazy. Yeah, no, that's that's unfortunate. When
- 39:50Speaker 1: someone has the amount of money that you have, you
- 39:52Speaker 1: start to learn you're kind of forced to learn some
- 39:54Speaker 1: financial literacy, right, because that's a lot of fucking money.
- 39:58Speaker 1: Your money will teach you. What are some of the
- 40:01Speaker 1: lessons that having that much wealth accumulated at such a
- 40:05Speaker 1: young age that you learned that you would try to
- 40:08Speaker 1: spread to other people, because because financial literacy is one
- 40:10Speaker 1: of those things that you know, unfortunately isn't taught in
- 40:14Speaker 1: schools enough. We all learned that your money will work
- 40:16Speaker 1: harder than you. You know, a lot of people try
- 40:19Speaker 1: to work to make money, but you should let money
- 40:22Speaker 1: work for you. That's some real shit. And and basically
- 40:25Speaker 1: I figured that out. And once I did, that's when
- 40:28Speaker 1: I would go buy a million dollars worth of cocaine
- 40:31Speaker 1: and then I would pass it out to different people
- 40:33Speaker 1: and then the next day they would all bring me
- 40:35Speaker 1: my money back. Because you ain't standing on the corner,
- 40:37Speaker 1: SONI your fucking self exactly. Mm hmm. What're that's your
- 40:42Speaker 1: money working for you? Yeah? I mean, and I think
- 40:44Speaker 1: that in terms of just what the wealth these people,
- 40:46Speaker 1: we know that's what they do, oh absolutely, whether they
- 40:49Speaker 1: have stocks that go up and down, whether they I mean,
- 40:52Speaker 1: shit as simple as a vending machine. You have a
- 40:54Speaker 1: vending machine. The vending machine, you're not there. The vending
- 40:57Speaker 1: machine is making your money working. It's working for you. Yeah.
- 41:00Speaker 1: If you go out and buy bulldozer, that's your money working,
- 41:04Speaker 1: piece of property, rent it out there, it is. Was
- 41:07Speaker 1: there any assets you were able to keep after you
- 41:10Speaker 1: got arrested or did they take everything? I had a few.
- 41:12Speaker 1: I had a few pieces of property. You know, I
- 41:14Speaker 1: shown the theater or on Crenshawn Adams. I was gonna
- 41:19Speaker 1: build a West Coast Apollo over there, and uh what
- 41:24Speaker 1: else I had? I had a few pieces of property,
- 41:26Speaker 1: you know. Uh, I saw my motel before they before
- 41:30Speaker 1: they indict. I mean, once I knew that I was indicted,
- 41:32Speaker 1: I started trying to sell my assets because I knew
- 41:34Speaker 1: that it was come to take. Yeah, they was gonna
- 41:36Speaker 1: try to take the big ones. My lawyer was like,
- 41:38Speaker 1: get rid of everything that you think they knew about it.
- 41:41Speaker 1: You knew it was coming. Oh well, what happened is
- 41:45Speaker 1: is even though my indictment was a secret indictment, one
- 41:49Speaker 1: of my cousins killed hisself and I go to the
- 41:53Speaker 1: scene because I couldn't believe he had did it. So
- 41:55Speaker 1: I go over there where he was at and then
- 41:57Speaker 1: one of the cops had had had beat me. And
- 41:59Speaker 1: then somebody was like, man, that cop just mentioned your
- 42:02Speaker 1: name to the other cop. And I was like, I
- 42:03Speaker 1: ain't tripping. I'm good. You know, I hadn't even been
- 42:06Speaker 1: selling dough for a year and a half at that time.
- 42:09Speaker 1: And the cop came over and he was like, uh
- 42:13Speaker 1: you Rick Ross, And I was like, nah, and I
- 42:16Speaker 1: had fake I D so let me see I D
- 42:19Speaker 1: So I pulled out my bunk idea and I hand
- 42:21Speaker 1: it to him and he was looking at his partner
- 42:24Speaker 1: his part, like that's him. And when he said that, dude,
- 42:29Speaker 1: they turned around, want to cuff me. I took off runting.
- 42:33Speaker 1: So I knew from that day that I was wanting
- 42:36Speaker 1: something was coming because they were going they were trying
- 42:38Speaker 1: to throw you in some they sent the cuffy. So
- 42:41Speaker 1: you started to get your assets in order or get
- 42:44Speaker 1: your lawyer. I called a lawyer the next day, like man,
- 42:48Speaker 1: they was, they was going to arrest me out here. Yeah,
- 42:50Speaker 1: you must have had a fire ass lawyer in the eighties.
- 42:52Speaker 1: I did. I did. They didn't like him either, though.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Is he still Is he still practicing law? I don't know.
- 42:58Speaker 1: He done got old. He about seventy some years old. Now,
- 43:01Speaker 1: I always think you ever watched Breaking Bad? I never
- 43:04Speaker 1: watched it. He's got this the guy he's a big
- 43:07Speaker 1: meth dealer and he's got this like go to lawyer,
- 43:09Speaker 1: saw goodman. It's like a crazy gap. But I can
- 43:11Speaker 1: imagine being your lawyer in the eighties had to be
- 43:14Speaker 1: a stressful and also profitable gig to take. Yeah, he
- 43:18Speaker 1: made a lot of money, Betty, I bet he did.
- 43:21Speaker 1: I bet he didn't kept us out of jail, though,
- 43:23Speaker 1: I bet he did. That was that was the most
- 43:25Speaker 1: important thing is keep my guys out of jail. That
- 43:27Speaker 1: had to be nice to have somebody like that in
- 43:29Speaker 1: your corner to kind of guide you through the legalities
- 43:32Speaker 1: of like, hey, oh yeah, if you're gonna put if
- 43:34Speaker 1: you're gonna take your money and put it here, do
- 43:36Speaker 1: it this way. Really, one of the best things he
- 43:38Speaker 1: ever told me was I go to him and I
- 43:41Speaker 1: was like, man, these cops planning dope, planning dope. Yeah,
- 43:45Speaker 1: they was planning dope on us. Yeah, because they couldn't
- 43:47Speaker 1: catch it. They couldn't figure out how to catch us
- 43:50Speaker 1: with dope. You know, we we we I came up
- 43:52Speaker 1: with a theory was that we don't keep dope in
- 43:55Speaker 1: the house. We brain in the house, weir it up.
- 43:58Speaker 1: As soon as we wear up, we throw it in
- 43:59Speaker 1: the trunk of a car, put the car down the
- 44:00Speaker 1: street in front of somebody else's house. So they was
- 44:04Speaker 1: never going to catch us with dope. Let's they called
- 44:06Speaker 1: us like right during that time, that specific instance, and
- 44:10Speaker 1: then we started weighing it up at three in the morning,
- 44:12Speaker 1: four in the morning, you know, like odd hours of
- 44:14Speaker 1: the of the day when when most people would be sleep,
- 44:16Speaker 1: so people wouldn't see us going in houses or something
- 44:20Speaker 1: like that, because you know, people would see me sometime
- 44:22Speaker 1: and recognize me and be like, oh, that's Red Cross.
- 44:25Speaker 1: So we just start doing it when most people would
- 44:27Speaker 1: be sleep, so nobody wouldn't really recognize us, so the
- 44:30Speaker 1: cops couldn't catch us with dope. And back then it
- 44:35Speaker 1: wasn't no conspiracy, you know, like, well conspiracy, somebody got
- 44:42Speaker 1: to get caught with some dope with a conspiracy, or
- 44:44Speaker 1: somebody got to come in and say that you had
- 44:46Speaker 1: some dope. But anyway, they started playing the drugs on us.
- 44:49Speaker 1: They started raising the house and would literally take dope
- 44:53Speaker 1: out of their pocket and plant it in the house,
- 44:55Speaker 1: or take bags of dope out of their trunk of
- 44:57Speaker 1: their car. And so how did your lawyer tell you
- 45:01Speaker 1: to navigate through that? Well, when I told him about it,
- 45:03Speaker 1: he didn't believe it. You know California. Yeah, no, no,
- 45:07Speaker 1: that's a crazy thing. Ain't nobody doing those shit like
- 45:09Speaker 1: that in California. So he said, I, if I knew
- 45:13Speaker 1: some cops was was crooked like that there, I would
- 45:16Speaker 1: hire a private investigator to investigate the cops. That's what
- 45:20Speaker 1: I did. So you would hire a private investigator. Now
- 45:25Speaker 1: this would be pre then planning drugs or after they
- 45:29Speaker 1: had already been planning drugs. They're planning drugs on my
- 45:32Speaker 1: people already, they hadn't planning drugs on me. And you
- 45:34Speaker 1: knew who these cops were. Yeah, so you would say
- 45:37Speaker 1: it's the Freeway Task Force. They was named after me.
- 45:39Speaker 1: So you would hire a private investigator to investigate those cops. Yeah,
- 45:42Speaker 1: and just get get shipped on them. Yeah, that's great.
- 45:45Speaker 1: What was the craziest thing that your PI dug up
- 45:47Speaker 1: on a cop? This one guy was in the bed
- 45:53Speaker 1: with his girl and he had a fish tank right
- 45:57Speaker 1: next to his bed. Well, the pumps had a shortage
- 46:01Speaker 1: in it, so it was electrocuting. They stuck the guy
- 46:07Speaker 1: onto the wire and electrocutity. So the cops did that
- 46:14Speaker 1: to someone. Yeah, and your PI witnessed this. He didn't
- 46:18Speaker 1: witness it, but the defendants or the witnesses told him
- 46:24Speaker 1: that that's what happened to him. Another one was up
- 46:27Speaker 1: my partner. We used to have big safes, probably like
- 46:30Speaker 1: the side of this table in our apartments, and they
- 46:38Speaker 1: wanted him to open the safe and he wouldn't open it,
- 46:41Speaker 1: so they took a trash bag and put over his head. Fuck,
- 46:45Speaker 1: torture and shit, try to suffocate. They got indicted for that,
- 46:49Speaker 1: for putting the trash bag over his head, smothering me. Wow.
- 46:54Speaker 1: So it was almost like against their best interest to
- 46:58Speaker 1: fuck with you in that way because you had a
- 47:00Speaker 1: fucking guy who was gonna, I guess, overturn all that ship. Well,
- 47:03Speaker 1: eventually we we got it all overturned. And when when
- 47:07Speaker 1: I turned my investigation in one hundred and fifty people
- 47:09Speaker 1: got out of prison. When you when you ended up
- 47:12Speaker 1: going in or when you ended up and died in me,
- 47:15Speaker 1: they eventually inded in me. Okay, So when they in
- 47:18Speaker 1: died in me, you had all this ship that your
- 47:20Speaker 1: PI had accumulated, Like, oh, you're gonna go to trial
- 47:23Speaker 1: with these guys. This is this is what we got
- 47:25Speaker 1: on them. This is your witnesses. Right, let me show
- 47:28Speaker 1: your terrible witnesses. Let me show you who your witnesses is. Wow,
- 47:32Speaker 1: that's crazy. That's how that's how I beat my first case.
- 47:35Speaker 1: Shout out to your PI. Huh. I mean that's your
- 47:38Speaker 1: lawyer and your p I in the eighties. God bless
- 47:40Speaker 1: him that had top of the line got Frenchy. He
- 47:44Speaker 1: probably did now too. His name is Frenchy French. He
- 47:47Speaker 1: was an ex cop. I mean, so he knew, Yeah,
- 47:49Speaker 1: he knew, he knew the ropes, he knew the rope
- 47:51Speaker 1: But those are the guys that you get for investigators,
- 47:53Speaker 1: you know, if you're doing investigation on cops, you know
- 47:56Speaker 1: you want somebody who's who's been there and done that.
- 47:59Speaker 1: That's some really when you're coming up in LA in
- 48:03Speaker 1: the eighties, the early uh stages of gangster wrap, Ice Tea,
- 48:08Speaker 1: I think of iced Tea. I think of guys like that, like, uh,
- 48:12Speaker 1: how much was like hip hop and guys like like
- 48:16Speaker 1: Ice and and you know, obviously n w A was
- 48:18Speaker 1: a little bit later, we were moving Tiny T master Spade,
- 48:24Speaker 1: King King T master Spade. Yeah. I was gonna say, like,
- 48:28Speaker 1: it's it's kind of like you you you know, hip
- 48:32Speaker 1: hop and the crack era kind of run synonymous with
- 48:36Speaker 1: each other in a lot away definitely, you know, Ice
- 48:40Speaker 1: did the documentary Planet Rock right how hip hop stole
- 48:45Speaker 1: from the Dope Game. But I was gonna I guess,
- 48:49Speaker 1: did you also kind of recognize that this hip hop
- 48:52Speaker 1: thing was was becoming like a real thing that I
- 48:56Speaker 1: did not because some people, because back then a lot
- 48:58Speaker 1: of people thought it was a fad. It was like
- 49:00Speaker 1: it wasn't real music, or it was it wasn't gonna
- 49:02Speaker 1: last long. That's what Oldest and Dick, Griffy and them
- 49:05Speaker 1: told me that it was gonna be like disco because
- 49:08Speaker 1: disco was there, and then it wasn't exactly. And that's
- 49:11Speaker 1: why I missed hip hop. If it wouldn't have been
- 49:13Speaker 1: for that, If that would have told me that I would,
- 49:15Speaker 1: I would have been to king of hip hop without question. Nobody.
- 49:19Speaker 1: I remember Russell Simmons was running bud La broke Wow.
- 49:23Speaker 1: I remember that, and you had the money to really
- 49:26Speaker 1: you could have been to death row out of l A. Yeah,
- 49:29Speaker 1: that's crazy. I mean shit, man, But it ain't too late.
- 49:34Speaker 1: It ain't too late. No, No, I still got to
- 49:37Speaker 1: get my money out of out of the music industry.
- 49:39Speaker 1: See what I do is I need a baker and
- 49:41Speaker 1: get your money back. No, No, I'm gonna get it
- 49:43Speaker 1: out of I'm gonna get it out of hip hop.
- 49:45Speaker 1: Hip hop gonna pay me. I like it. I mean shit.
- 49:47Speaker 1: Has did you end up winning the Rick Ross lawsuit? No?
- 49:50Speaker 1: I lost that. You did lose it. What was the
- 49:52Speaker 1: reason that you lost it? Because it seemed like it
- 49:54Speaker 1: was a pretty well if if if somebody does some
- 50:00Speaker 1: to you, you get two years. It's like a statue
- 50:03Speaker 1: of limitation. Limitation. So you were past that. I should
- 50:06Speaker 1: have found before I got five days before I got
- 50:08Speaker 1: out of prison, I should have folded my lawsuit, but
- 50:11Speaker 1: the judge wasn't gonna just gonna find a way to
- 50:14Speaker 1: that them out. Did you and the rapper Rick Ross
- 50:16Speaker 1: ever have any talk or was it kind of spoke
- 50:19Speaker 1: on the phone before you got Okay, Yeah, it's it's
- 50:24Speaker 1: it's you know when he was You're probably like, yo,
- 50:27Speaker 1: you're out to running around with my name. Huh. It
- 50:32Speaker 1: was crazy. I went when one of the youngsters, you know,
- 50:36Speaker 1: my my little youngsters that I had in jail, you know,
- 50:38Speaker 1: the studied under me. When I ran in one day
- 50:40Speaker 1: with a magazine boom and he showed me XX Hey, man,
- 50:43Speaker 1: look at this dude. He stole your name. I was like, oh,
- 50:46Speaker 1: so I go get on the phone. I started calling everybody, Ay, man,
- 50:48Speaker 1: you know this dude, X, you know this dude. Yeah,
- 50:53Speaker 1: so finally you got to hit one of my guys
- 50:55Speaker 1: in New York. He's like, man, he gonna be in
- 50:57Speaker 1: my office Monday. I was like oh yeah, He's like, yeah,
- 51:01Speaker 1: call it nine o'clock. So when I called, he's just
- 51:03Speaker 1: handing the phone. He didn't even know who it was. Yo,
- 51:06Speaker 1: stop in the interview. Got to tell you about our

- 52:01Speaker 1: what is the most amount of money you had at
- 52:03Speaker 1: one time? I don't know, three and a half million,
- 52:06Speaker 1: three point two million, something like that. There, you didn't
- 52:10Speaker 1: really matter, See, I don't really care about how much
- 52:12Speaker 1: money I had. I wanted to know how much money
- 52:14Speaker 1: I could spend every day. You were spending a lot,
- 52:18Speaker 1: you know. If I could make two hundred and three
- 52:20Speaker 1: hundred thousand every day, I was good. How much were
- 52:23Speaker 1: you spending a month at your at your peak when
- 52:25Speaker 1: you're on dope? No, I'm just just I'm just on.
- 52:29Speaker 1: Were you like a flashy guy? Nah? Because that's you
- 52:32Speaker 1: probably would have got caught a lot earlier had Yeah. Yeah,
- 52:34Speaker 1: Now I bought mostly houses, uh business a business freak,
- 52:39Speaker 1: you know, Like I'll be riding down the street and
- 52:41Speaker 1: I see a house. Oh, look at that abandoned house
- 52:42Speaker 1: right there. Get the Just call my girls, Hey, I
- 52:45Speaker 1: want to get this house. Go get it. When you
- 52:47Speaker 1: get incarcerated, obviously, before that happens, you have I'm sure
- 52:51Speaker 1: you had a close uh circle of people who helped
- 52:54Speaker 1: you with your affairs, who helped you with what you
- 52:56Speaker 1: were doing. What happens to them when you go to
- 53:01Speaker 1: jail disappear when the money runs out, everybody runs out.
- 53:07Speaker 1: No more girls. That's crazy, gets lonely. Yield is a
- 53:13Speaker 1: lonely place. How was gonna say, you had to trust
- 53:16Speaker 1: somebody enough to like handle certain shit once you like,
- 53:19Speaker 1: if you know what, once you get a life sentence,
- 53:21Speaker 1: it's theirs. It's no longer yours, don't belong to you anymore.
- 53:27Speaker 1: How much do you need it for? I was gonna say,
- 53:30Speaker 1: how much cash do you think what's taken from you
- 53:33Speaker 1: by people? You know once you got that sentence, because
- 53:35Speaker 1: I'm sure you had cash around who knows? Man? I mean,
- 53:39Speaker 1: I've lost so much money in my lifetime, you know,
- 53:41Speaker 1: people running off and beat me out of money. It's
- 53:45Speaker 1: I mean, the numbers, it would be crazy. It'd be
- 53:47Speaker 1: crazy to think about it if we could put it together.
- 53:50Speaker 1: What I appreciate about what you've been doing since you
- 53:52Speaker 1: got out is just like the positive influence you've been
- 53:54Speaker 1: Like you were talking earlier, you know, I feel like
- 53:58Speaker 1: your story is an inspiring one because a lot of
- 54:00Speaker 1: people might be in that position that you're in and
- 54:03Speaker 1: give up or I ain't gave up. I'm going full
- 54:07Speaker 1: steamer head. Well that's what I mean. You got out
- 54:09Speaker 1: and just you just picked right back up. Well, no,
- 54:12Speaker 1: I picked up in jail. I taught myself how to
- 54:14Speaker 1: read when I was in jail. I mean, that's a
- 54:17Speaker 1: that's how I got out. I got myself out of prison.
- 54:21Speaker 1: Why did they Why did they let you out early?
- 54:23Speaker 1: Because I told him that they had they charged me
- 54:25Speaker 1: on a three strike law, and I told him I
- 54:26Speaker 1: wasn't a three striker. And then I showed him I
- 54:30Speaker 1: wasn't a three striker, and then he had to get
- 54:33Speaker 1: out and they had to let me out. It's a
- 54:35Speaker 1: beautiful I'll go against their books. And one thing about them,
- 54:38Speaker 1: they don't like going against their books. Once they write
- 54:40Speaker 1: it on that paper, it's hard for them to go
- 54:42Speaker 1: against those. So when I was in prison, I went
- 54:46Speaker 1: hard man, I didn't uh. I read over three hundred
- 54:48Speaker 1: books while I was gone. What's the most important book
- 54:51Speaker 1: you've ever read? I would say the three most important?
- 54:54Speaker 1: Give me the three Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon,
- 54:57Speaker 1: ill richest man in Babylon. But George Class Great Book
- 55:00Speaker 1: and As a Man Think by James Allen, and those
- 55:03Speaker 1: books allowed me to go back over my life in
- 55:07Speaker 1: the dope game and break it down and to see
- 55:11Speaker 1: how I could use those same skills to do the
- 55:14Speaker 1: things that I'm doing right now. Rich's made in Babylon.
- 55:16Speaker 1: They made us read it in high school. What well
- 55:19Speaker 1: you went to high school the Phoenix, Arizona. They should
- 55:22Speaker 1: be that books. I believe that books should be in
- 55:24Speaker 1: every school in this economics class, right, but it was
- 55:27Speaker 1: it was for people who don't know. They should go
- 55:29Speaker 1: check it out. It's really extremely basic principles of financial literacy,
- 55:34Speaker 1: but not told in that specific way. I guess if
- 55:37Speaker 1: that makes sense. Yeah, like how you should spend money,
- 55:39Speaker 1: how you should save money, like you know, all my guys.
- 55:43Speaker 1: I asked all my guys to read it, you know,
- 55:45Speaker 1: my boxers. And it's not a long book. No, it's
- 55:48Speaker 1: a short book. It's a very short, easy read. Everyone
- 55:50Speaker 1: should go check short book. So the rappers that I
- 55:53Speaker 1: work with, boxers that I work with, anybody that want
- 55:57Speaker 1: to work with me, my assistants, I asked them, want
- 56:00Speaker 1: to read those books now that you're you know, you
- 56:05Speaker 1: got the books been out for five years. We talked
- 56:06Speaker 1: about that. You're working with another book I've been out
- 56:09Speaker 1: about a year. What, like, give us the grand scheme
- 56:12Speaker 1: of everything you have going on. Now you know the books,
- 56:17Speaker 1: the movie is budgeted. Yeah, so let's let's talk about
- 56:22Speaker 1: the movie first, because your movie's gotta be This can't
- 56:24Speaker 1: just be a fucking straight to straight to TV type.
- 56:27Speaker 1: Oh no, this this, this is theater. This has to be. Uh.
- 56:31Speaker 1: When we think about how big Snowfall is, and I
- 56:34Speaker 1: know that Snowfall, I mean officially isn't about you, but
- 56:38Speaker 1: the movie's got everybody think it is. The movie's gotta
- 56:40Speaker 1: be fucking crazy, absolutely, like Michael B. Jordan or somebody crazy.
- 56:45Speaker 1: You gotta play you. I don't know. I like I
- 56:48Speaker 1: like that. I like that kid, childish Gambino. Childish Gambino
- 56:52Speaker 1: would be crazy. Donald Glover playing it would be crazed.
- 56:56Speaker 1: He would kill it. I don't disagree. That's what I
- 57:00Speaker 1: was gonna ask you, Like, you're the hardest guy in
- 57:02Speaker 1: the world to get it. I've been looking for that
- 57:03Speaker 1: guy for three years. Yeah, I mean he is a
- 57:07Speaker 1: very eclectic human. Yes, and nobody knows he show Atlanta
- 57:12Speaker 1: is amazing. If I don't seen it, it's good. I
- 57:14Speaker 1: haven't saw it. But I just I just like his demeanor,
- 57:18Speaker 1: you know, I think that he could uh, that he
- 57:20Speaker 1: could put it off. I just don't want to see
- 57:21Speaker 1: your your movie ending up like the Gotti movie that
- 57:24Speaker 1: John Travolta started recently, because that was straight to Amazon
- 57:27Speaker 1: and it was terrible. No, I don't want to go
- 57:29Speaker 1: straight down. Your story is so crazy. It's got to
- 57:33Speaker 1: be bankrolled. It's got to be. It's got to just
- 57:35Speaker 1: be a nice budget for a black movie. It's got
- 57:37Speaker 1: to be a moment, man, it's got to be a moment.
- 57:40Speaker 1: I'll tell you that we got O reginal heading directly. Noe.
- 57:43Speaker 1: You guys haven't cast it yet. No, we haven't cast
- 57:45Speaker 1: it yet. Are you guys gonna make the movie and
- 57:47Speaker 1: then shop it around or do you guys already have distribution?
- 57:51Speaker 1: My friends have distribution already. Okay, yeah, they gotta put deal.
- 57:55Speaker 1: So we were pretty we're pretty tight. You know. I'm
- 57:58Speaker 1: i'm i'm, I'm, I'm. I'm pretty dope in the movie
- 58:01Speaker 1: scene too, Like a lot of people don't know. You know,
- 58:03Speaker 1: I should scream movie scripts when I was in jail
- 58:05Speaker 1: so they could let you, like, you could tell them
- 58:07Speaker 1: this is bullshit, this is and how it would go down.
- 58:09Speaker 1: That's what I used to do. I just have stacked
- 58:11Speaker 1: some movie scripts and what's the movies that they had
- 58:13Speaker 1: you look through that we might know while you were
- 58:15Speaker 1: locked up. One ah, man, I don't remember, man, I know.
- 58:21Speaker 1: It was one about these people who were they were
- 58:24Speaker 1: still in kidney selling kidneys, oh ship, and they both
- 58:27Speaker 1: had boxes. This was this was a crazy movie. They
- 58:30Speaker 1: both had boxes containers. One had a kidney and one
- 58:36Speaker 1: had a bag of dope, and they got mixed up.
- 58:39Speaker 1: You know. They went to the same restaurant to meet somebody,
- 58:42Speaker 1: and the guy with the kidney gave the guy that
- 58:44Speaker 1: was trying to buy the dope the kidney, and the
- 58:47Speaker 1: guy with the kidney he gave the a dope to
- 58:50Speaker 1: the guy who needs a kidney. So now you know,
- 58:52Speaker 1: the guy with the kidney he sweating because he about
- 58:54Speaker 1: to die, right, and the guy with the dope. It
- 58:57Speaker 1: was it was, it was crazy. That was one of
- 58:59Speaker 1: the crazy this ones ever And they made the movie
- 59:02Speaker 1: about that too. It it made it too. So the
- 59:04Speaker 1: movie's coming. You're obviously speaking at a bunch of different places,
- 59:09Speaker 1: which is I think, yep, I'm doing that the weed shit. Yeah,
- 59:15Speaker 1: matter of fact, I just just come for my working
- 59:17Speaker 1: on my gross spot yesterday. I've been working. I'm building
- 59:19Speaker 1: a forty thousand square foot gross spot right now. That's
- 59:22Speaker 1: got to be so ironic and weird to be like,
- 59:25Speaker 1: I just got to I mean, obviously it's cocaine and weed,
- 59:27Speaker 1: it's two separate things. But I mean weeding in your
- 59:30Speaker 1: day for me to have a license, you know, yeah,
- 59:32Speaker 1: and you're like out here like getting selling drugs legally
- 59:35Speaker 1: now yeah, yeah, it's a beautiful thing. And I want
- 59:37Speaker 1: a dispensary. So I got a dispensary coming soon. You know.
- 59:42Speaker 1: The music I'm working with Don Kennedy. Now, Don's a
- 59:45Speaker 1: great guy man friend. Last week I had lunch with
- 59:50Speaker 1: James fonderroy matter of fact, two days in one week.
- 59:53Speaker 1: You know. Nice, I'm with James fonder Royd for two
- 59:55Speaker 1: days in one week. So that was like, damn, who
- 59:58Speaker 1: get to do that? You know what I mean? And
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: of course private restaurant, you know, private restaurants, the tape
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: your phone up. You know, you can't take pictures when
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: you go into the restaurant. So, you know, I just
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: I just found out how to get myself in places
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: that most people can't get in. You know and right
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: now I got the champ with me. You know, he
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: flew out in from Detroit. Come on, man, you want
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: to introduce you to him, you have to jump over
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: the cord. It's one of my young with my young
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: guys and my adviys and them. He's a fighter and
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: a rapper, fighter and a rapper artist. He take the mic.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: Plug your ship man whatever. Man is that Dulah Kitar
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: out of Detroit, Michigan. You know, fu to l A
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: tapping with big We're right here with blueleg Kid going crazy.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: Shout out to Detroit. I gotta go out to Detroit soon.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: I'm supposed to go out there shoot some shit, baby
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: face right oh yeah, it comes to the d east side.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: Were good. Troy's going crazy right now. Oh yeah. The
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: whole culture. We we we really like. I wouldn't say
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: the next day Atlanta because we really put Atlanta off.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: I mean, I can't go there with you. But you know,
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: right now, the Troit got it. We we we we
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: were right now out uh babyface, Ray Peasy forty two,
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: Doug Perrol Giovanni, the whole the whole city going crazy
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: where everybody's yet. Detroit's going crazy and we all it's
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: like it's like the streets coming out to the industry now,
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: like all them, all the rappers, you just now they
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: like street rappers, they're not in industry, so like they
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: kind of them. I'm just kidding, kidding, Like we got
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: Yachty coming to this city. Now. For sure, yacht did
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: a whole exactly the whole Detroit theme. No, no, he did.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: He wasn't an album. He did a Michigan themed album
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: a bunch of Detroit artists. Yeah, Michigan boy boat. It
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: was cool. So you know, we are coming up. Don't
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: make a lot of sense because what we have been
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: saying in jail is that the music business followed the
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: dope game game with the music scene started to flourish.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: And and when meeting him went to to man, you
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: know they helped when they helped that thing start to
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: to jail was you need you know, you need some
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: of the some of the trimans to go with, you know,
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: to go You ever communicate with someone like big meach Yeah,
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: me start writing me when he first fell Wow, when
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: he day hooked us up. She wanted me to advise
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: him on how to do his case and and uh
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: when when when they told me, when he told me
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: they offered him to thirty years, you know, I told
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: him that it was a good idea to take it.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: I say, thirty years beat a life sentence. You know,
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: I knew guys, and that's because I had new guys
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: who had the opportunity to take thirty and didn't and
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: got the life and had did thirty years. So so
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: you can do thirty, but you couldn't do life right.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: So sometimes, you know, you might look at it like, oh,
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: that's a lot of time. But at the end of
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: the day, you got a date, You got a date,
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: and thirty might be already already. He's probably only like
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: three years to the house now that it's crazy, you know,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: he done did that shit. So you just think that
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: he could have you know, he could have went and
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: got the Life CENTERCE and we'd be like, oh, he
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: ain't got no date. Did fifty cent ever? Trying to
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: reach out to you the dude, Yeah, fifty call me today.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: I got out of jail because I feel like he's
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: been doing such a good job of telling the BMF
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: story with his show, you know, but we wasn't able
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: to put nothing together. You know, he might be able
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: to do a much more accurate version of what Snowfall is.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: But like having you directly involved, maybe I can do
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: my own movie. This is true. I know enough about
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: I read enough books on producing movies, that's true. I
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: read about four or five books on producing movies. When
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: I go talk to him, you know, I met when
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: I got out, I met with ri Manuel, I met
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: with Jeff Bird, Spencer Bloomer, everybody, Michael Linton, the four
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: biggest guys in Hollywood. You know, going to fifty cent
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: that's like a step down. So so once I meet
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: the top guys and they didn't show me. You know,
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: I didn't think none of those guys was that smart.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: That's fair. They couldn't even figure out how I got
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: in their offices, Like how did you get here? That's crazy?
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: I was like, I was invited. So when it comes
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: to work with someone like him and you're helping advise him,
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: like what are the what are some of the things
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: that you're doing for for somebody like your guy right here? Well, Well,
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: what I'm showing him is is that a lot of
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: these guys they're not their own men. You know, they
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: don't make their own decisions. They don't really think for themselves. Uh,
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: they got other people. Basically, they almost like puppets. You know,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: when you look at most of these guys, they can't
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: they can't do what they want to do, you know.
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: Like with me, I do whatever I want to do.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: I go when I want to go. I go to
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: sleep when I want to go to sleep. I eat
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: what I want to eat. Nobody pays my bills. I
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: pay my own bills. So that's the way you gotta
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: be if you want to if you want to have
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: I mean, you gotta If you ain't got no you
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: ain't got no nuts. Since you can't do that, you know,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: you gotta torne down to what other people tell you
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: you have to do, you know. And that's what I
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: when I met with those guys in Hollywood that I
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: just named to you. You know, Ory Man, you will
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: tell me that I'm gonna have to be listening to
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: Mark Wahlberg. No, I don't have to listen to Mark Wahlberg.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: You know, I don't have to listen to nobody, because
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: I already knew that I was gonna get out here
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: and and and blaze my own trail. You know, I
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: get my mind out the streets twenty dollars at a time.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: I just stacked them twenties up. You ain't got to
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: give me, you know, one hundred thousand. Well, you know
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: most people, that's the that's the downfall to the music
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: industry is most artists are vulnerable, and they get that.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: They'd rather take that upfront bag, even though the terms
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: are terrible. Then then take the slow monthly bag or
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: the slow residual and h I like that though. That's
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: why I self published my book. That's why I told him, no,
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: go to Amazon and gig get it from your me.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: I respect it, I got it. I got a little
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: artist right now, I'm trying to sign. I got a
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: sixteen year old kid. I ain't gonna mention his name
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: because then you might you might pop pop, someone might
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: steal him from you. Yeah, yeah, you know how they do.
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: So that's what's up, man. And then we're gonna probably
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: go to the studio tonight, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: And uh, was he hot too? He hot on the mic?
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: Can he fight? But he could wrap too? Are you
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: getting back into real estate at all? I am, But
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna wait. You know, I got my credit right
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: and you know now where my marijuana grow. You know,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: I should be making a lot of million, million and
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: a half a month, you know what I'm saying. So
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: something like I get into real estate, then something like
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: and and that's real estate. You know my building, I
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: own the building. There is that real estate. You know
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Did you ever franchise any ship like
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: any like did you ever have like a subway or
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: like a McDonald's back in the day. No, I didn't
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: know how to do that. You know, I was a
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: ghetto boy. You know my mom didn't. My mom the
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: only job she ever had was cleaning offices and cutting grass. So,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: you know, you in order to do those type of things,
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: you have to have somebody in your life that has
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: already done that. You didn't have that circle of people
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: at Some of my guys just carry guns, you know,
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: they didn't. They didn't carry books, didn't carry guns. So
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: when you have people who's coming from those lifestyles, then
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: you can't expect anything else from you. And that's why
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: I feel it's so important for me to be successful
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: because there's so many young men, you know, like him,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: who need somebody like me to show them how far
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: they can go, Like, don't limit yourself to just this.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: You know, the world is yours. You can do anything
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: that anybody else in this world can do. And that's
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: how I feel, and that's what I try to teach
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: my guys, is that don't let nobody muffle you down
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: and tell you how far you can grow and how
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: far you can go, because they don't know what you
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: can do facts. You know, I don't know what you
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: can do, you know, so you have to be the
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: one that tells yourself where your limits are and where
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: you want to stop. Last thing I wanted to ask
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: you about because I feel like what's going on right
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: out with fetanol and all the overdoses and people getting
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: turned out over all these opiates, it's probably like the
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: craziest like surge of like a drug that's kind of
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: like taking over in terms of like national media attention
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: probably since Crack in the eighties. Right when you see
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: the what's going on with fetanel right now, and like
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: how a lot of these pharmaceutical companies are kind of
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: skating because they're the source of the problem, and you know, really,
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: do you see the parallels and kind of what was
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: going on in the eighties. So what's going on now
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: with fetanyel Well Fitinel cuses customers. You know we're cracked.
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: We didn't kill our customers. I didn't want I didn't
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: want my customers to die. I wanted them to live
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: because I knew as long as they live, they was
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: going to be bringing me that money. And if you're
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: killing your customers, you know, I almost like the cigarette
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: companies you got to recruit. Yeah. I didn't want to recruit.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: I just wanted to keep the same people, keep coming,
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: keep on prea customers, we keep repeat. We always think
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: of people who will sell stuff to get cracked. What's
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: the most random thing someone brought to you in exchange
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: for crack adult adope smoker, not somebody who was trying
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: to sell, But like, what's the craziest thing someone showed
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: up to you with and said, hey, take this, I
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: need this, I need I need I need my fix.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: And people done offered everything, man for their wives. Someone
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: offered you their wife. Yeah did you did you take it? No? No,
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: that was my homeboy. Your homie offered you his wife
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: cause to get his fixed. He thought I liked his wife.
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: So it's like, yo, you can fuck I just need
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: some crack. Exactly? What the fuck? That's crazy? What was
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: what's the craziest thing you accepted? How about that? I didn't.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: I didn't really, I didn't really have to be good.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: You weren't on that You weren't on that line and
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: still on the streets in the transition. I was probably
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: on the streets for about two three months, right, you
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: were by the time you would really get in to go,
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: and you would, you didn't even the hand of handsher
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: was was was over my hand in hand was real short.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: You know, I was able to. I got lucky because
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: when I started my mom, when my mom put me
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: out the house, I moved in with my cousin. My
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: cousin stayed right around the corner from a PCP spot.
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: So all the guys who sold PCP smoked crack. That's crazy.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: So every time they would get one hundred dollars, they
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: would come and see me. So mine went from making
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: twenty dollars to five hundreds a day, like really quick.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: As soon as I find when I met the PCP guys,
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: all the PCP guys, you know, it's like ten to fifteen,
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: I'm out there. So now I'm making one hundred dollars
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: from each one. If they make four hundred dolls a day,
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: they're gonna give me a hundred. That's crazy. Someone offers
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: you their wife, that's pretty wild. Yeah, I can imagine that.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: That's yeah, that's wild. Well, listen, man, is there anything
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: going on like this very moment you would like to promote? Yeah,
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: we got a we got a big fight up in
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: Philadelphia on the twenty fifth of this month with my man,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: but Sean Champ Okay, y'all be checking him out another
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: one of my guys. You're working a lot with fighters. Well,
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: that's my main passion right now, the we do we Well,
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: my passion is to take over boxing. Did you get
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: any pointers from J Prince? No? Because J Prince had
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: his bouts with you know, obviously managing Floyd Mayweather. Jay say,
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: you know Jay doing this thing. I mean, we're gonna
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: we're gonna probably be more like competitors because well, we're
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: gonna be going for the same guys. You know, pretty
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: soon my guy's gonna beating his guys up and anybody
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: else's guys. You know, we want them belts. We want
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: to be the best guys and not not for the
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: money because we already gonna be rich. You know, we're finish,
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: We fin to have more money than see them. But
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: we just want we don't want to go in the
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: ring and beat somebody up, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: Boxing it so that the twenty fifth, it's in Philly,
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: the fighting Philly. Yeah, so be on the lookout. Uh
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: and it'd be it'd be streamed on fight TV. Oh
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: I got fight TV. You got fight TV? Well, yeah,
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: you'll get to see it. I I think I saw
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: a fight. What was one of the it was one
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: of the Paul fights. I think Tyron Woodley was on there.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: It was on fight TV, right, one of those were
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: it was the one that wasn't on trailer. It was
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: on fight TV. Because that shit's on. Like anybody anybody

- 1:12:09Speaker 1: gonna be a good year for us. There it is.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: Appreciate you and your time. Man, Thank you answer. You
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: asked me some different stuff. All right, we was off camera.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: You were talking about I asked you about doing Joe Rogan.
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: You said you were one of the first Joe Rogan interviews.
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: How many times have you done the Joe Rogan Show? Twice?
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: You say you're like number eighty or something. Yeah, something
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: like that. I was writing that number. I might have
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: been a little earlier than that, maybe even So I
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: go on Joe Rogan Show, right, and uh, I'm fucked
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: up at the time. You know what I'm saying. That
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: just took my mom's house. You see my documentary when
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: they put us out. Yeah, they just put us out
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: the house. And I go do the Joe Rogan Show.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: But you know I'm winning it, would you know, like
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: fuck it? When I left prison, I was already like, shit,
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: whatever I gotta do. If I'm homeless, sleeping in the car,
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: I don't care. I'm gonna win, you know, Like I'm
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: just some more billionaire sleeping in the car. So when
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: I go to Joe Rogan show, I was like, man, Joe,
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: I'm fucked up. And he was like, man, you need
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: a T shirt. And I must put my head on
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: the table, like, oh a T shirt. Man, give me
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: some money. I need it. I need I need a boost.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: So I need a show man. I'm walking downtown and
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: this young white kid come up to me and he's like, hey, Rick,
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: I hurt you on the Joe Rogan Show. He all
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: geeked and shit like that, and I'm like, oh man.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: He's like, man, I got an idea for a T shirt.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, another one. No, motherfucker's right.
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: And uh he said, the real Wick Ross is not
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: a rapper. And I say to myself, that's the corniest
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: shit in the world. But I always one thing I
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: noticed about me is I keep open mind. You know,
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: even though I might feel like a certain way, I
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: had like just say, like, my way is the only way.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: So I said, all right, let's do it. The dude
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: say I'll print the T shirt, I'll designed and everything.
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: I don't know who this kid either, right, So he
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: designed a T shirt. I come to a shop, we
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: take some pictures, with me wearing the shirt. He give
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: me a hundred shirts. I leave out and I sell
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: all those shirts that same day. Wow. So at this time,
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: I got Joe's direct number. I can call Joe whenever
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: I get ready. So I called YOUO. I was like, hey, man,
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: you know you told me to do that T shirt.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: Well I did it. I got a T shirt. He's like, all,
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna set you up to come back on the show.
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: So the next week, I go back on the show
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: and I take Joe on the T shirts because I
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: was doing it with really nice material, you know, the
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: new T shirts. So I gave Joe the shirt. Joe
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: put the shirt on on camera, and next week, memb,
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: my PayPal hit like eighteen thousand dollars, like bing bing bing.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: That thing just kept going bing bing bing, ban ban ban.
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: We thought it was broke. Eighteen thousand dollars was in
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: my PayPal. Man. We went and got us apartment and
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: I ain't looked back since. So that that moment kind
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: of helped. At that time, was you needed that money?
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know. We was fucked up, man.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: I had two babies. I had two brand new babies.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: You're my girl, and because I wanted to have a
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: son as soon as I got home, because I knew
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: my time was running. You know, I'm an old man now,
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: right as soon as you got home, you got to work. Well,
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: I've never raised a kid, right, and I've always wanted to,
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: you know, like I mean, you know, you could say
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: I raised my younger brothers, but I slipped on them
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: because I would let them, you know, go and do
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: their own thing. But with my babies, they don't get
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: to do nothing. It's like, of course, you know straight.
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: So Joe Rogan wearing that T shirt kind of Oh
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: my goodness, I can't even say how many shirts that
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: think so because I rescue me on my ass. Well,
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: you did so well. That T shirt did so well
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: that right now, it's like five or six websites this
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: bootlegging that T shirt. That's so crazy. I feel like
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: I've seen it, like at the Swami for sure. The
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: real Rickross is not a raper. You know. I still
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: wear it. Oh it's there there, it is right there.
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: I still wear that joint. Go to the website and
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: buy one right now. When you someone who's known Joe
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: Rogan as long as you have, and you see the
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: controversy with you know what's going on with him? You know,
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: what are your thoughts on that house. I don't think
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: Joe's a racist, you know. I mean there's a lot
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: of people said, I mean, I used to use the
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: N work. I used to use the N work, but
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: then you know, it's okay, but a little different when
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: you're but but uh, it's it's I don't know, but
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: I don't. I don't feel like Joe Rogan is racist.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: You know. I think he's getting a bad rap for
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: for for using the word, and he apologized and he's
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: I don't believe he'll ever use it again. Would you
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: go back on the show, Yeah, I do, Joe tomorrow,
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: I'll be I sell a million books. I said, you're
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: saw a lot more books, a lot more T shirts.
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: Now if I go on Joe show right now, my
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: book probably want to be in the best I mean,
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: my book already. You know, I didn't really need I
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: don't really need nobody to do what I do. For real.
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: My book has done some numbers, you know, just uh,
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: the way I sell it. They just don't calculate. Of course,
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: I've saw Amazon. Let me say that there and what
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: I'm saying I ain't gonna let Amazon sell more of
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: my books than I sold. I res
